Fox News: Cindy McCain calls Obama Campaign “The Dirtiest” in American History (http://embeds.blogs.foxnews.com/2008/10/07/cindy-mccain-calls-obama-campaign-the-dirtiest-in-american-history/)
Cindy McCain’s visit to the Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt today, where she she described the Obama Campaign as “the dirtiest campaign in American history.”
From Howard’s report:
Cindy McCain said today that she expects her husband to clear the record at tonight’s debate and let America know where he truly stands.
McCain, who stopped to visit a half-dozen children at the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt today, said the presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama has “waged the dirtiest campaign in American history,” and her husband Sen. John McCain will use tonight’s debate to correct the distortions.
“What I have found is that it’s necessary to make sure the American people understand what we have to say, what we stand for as a husband and wife, and what we will do for the American people if we’re lucky enough to be elected,” Cindy McCain said.
Cindy McCain, who has said she initially did not want her husband to enter the 2008 race after the contentious primary he lost to President George W. Bush, said this race is even nastier.

I don't really KNOW how Obama feels about McCain, obviously - but he doesn't show any of that same animosity.
And to be honest - THAT might be the single most important thing we should be looking at, going into the election. These people have to deal with foreign leaders - some of whom are not going to be wanting for much of an excuse to take umbrage.

I don't know. This seemed to me like a debate in which both sides' supporters can claim their candidate won. The only real measure we've got is the Ohio focus group. The line graph to me looked like it was jumping higher for Obama than for McCain, and that reinforces my own instincts about who won, but I'm not sure if I can say that any objective viewer would have declared Obama the winner.

Here's what SBS's political commentator, karen Middleton, had to say -- but the Australian audience was 98% expecting Obama to win:
I think it was more interesting than the original debate because the questions came (mostly) from people other than journalists. I guess it's easy to get a bit swayed by the 'worm' from CNN, which I had on another screen. On that basis, McCain seemed to struggle to resonate a bit.. like he wasn't entirely inspiring voters... but he clearly resonated on energy policy & he returned to it several times.
also:
On energy? He (McCain) did well too. The uncommitted voters are clearly concerned with the price of fuel. Obama scored well on alternative fuels. And both scored well when they spoke about not spending so much on offshore oil.
But on Palin, we just don't get it:
I guess that's why I call her Scarey Sarah.. I think the mannerisms are over the top cheesy.. but I'm not American. And I can see she is igniting something in some people.
I'm impressed that he thinks he can do it with spending frozen...
