And jeebus you were quiet. I had to max the software volume and then the turn the volume knob on my speakers almost entirely the full way around. I don't think I've ever turned them up this high before. I'm scared to play anything else at this volume at the same time in case it blows out my speakers.

Simply open the run dialogue box from the start menu and enter in 'sndrec32.exe'. That will open the required program. Enjoy.

I have heard that the Pacific Northwest has the most neutral accent in the country ... not really sure if that's true, it probably seems that way wherever you are.

Don't roll your eyes at me, roll them at my Audacity that suddenly decided not to make .mp3 files anymore. I made an .ogg file because that was all there was apart from stupid .wav and uploaded it to Rapidshare but I can't even open it myself now because of the stupid .ogg ending. Meh!

Edit: Nevermind, I think I got it to work now. Link maybe coming up.

I don't know how to make my microphone work though. Will it work if I plug it in to the speakers, or do I have to pull my computer-tower-thing out of the cabinet and plug it into the back? Maybe it would work on my other computer, but I'm not even sure if my microphone is functional. I haven't really used it sense I stopped playing The Movies.

By the way, I like your voice. It's kind of like the way I imagine Erik's voice when I read Phantom by Susan Kay.:)

It needs to be plugged in somewhere, thats for sure. If the socket has a little pic of a mic with three little sound waves coming off the head, its worth a shot. There almost certainly will be a plug on the back of the tower, if the speakers don't work.

I remembered my laptop has a built in mic! It's not the best ever, but it works. Sorry about the twittering in the background; cancelled the noise as best I can, any more and it distorts the sound. I'm not an audio engineer, alas... Anyway, this should be a bit more "normal" and less "reading voice", and also distracted me from doing useful stuff for a while:

Wow! Audacity is great.. I just tested it with my organ, and it sounds like it works.. I can even adjust the volume with the program rather than with my squeaky pedal.. :p I'll have to upload a test file and put it here, soon as I get an email account to register at putfile. Thanks to everyone who recommended that program. :)

haha! yeh, much to my disappointment my parents moved south soon after i was born to that parody of the home counties/france that is jersey. so i basically sound southern english with the occaisional odd inflection. fortunately i never picked up the actual jersey accent which is like a french person with some sort of mental retardation attempting a south african accent. i can't imitate it but my friend sam does a reall funny immitation, i think i have a recording somewhere. hold on a second, i'll have a look for it...

My teachers were all German with crappy British accents, though. I can't actually remember how I picked up the American accent. I've since spent a year in the US (Indiana, so the Midwest guess was still pretty good ;p) so my English has gotten better (of course that also was 10 years ago so it has gotten a lot worse again...) but the accent was there before.

I could listen to the second one and you sound nice! Is that a Nebraskan accent? Is there even such a thing as a Nebraskan accent?

I don't think the first one in the .aup format works. When I tried to simply play it, my Audacity crashed; when I saved it to my desktop, Audacity tried to play it but couldn't because "it didn't have the rest of the information for this project" or something.
You could try saving it in .mp3 format maybe? It's really easy with Audacity, you just click "export as .mp3" in the menu on the left. You do need to get this (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/help/faq?s=install&item=lame-mp3) first, though. It's easy though, even I could do it. ;p
