Lyceum Tavern, or something. It's on the Strand somewhere. I V Stalin is being a darl' and meeting me at about 2ish after I get off from work. I'll check the TG The Infinite Dunes sent me. One sec.

If you want to hang around there for a little bit I can meet you at Kings Cross. I'll be getting to St Pancras at 12.15.

Edit: Looking at the map now, I'm very tempted to walk from the station to the Strand, just to save a bit of money. It's not too far, maybe a mile, mile and a half tops.

I'll be going to Essex afterwards, rather than back to Leicester, so I need to get to Liverpool St. at some point. And I have no idea about the roads around the Strand (or Liverpool St for that matter). Plus if I'm going to be meeting Arinola at Euston, it'd probably make sense to get a day ticket for the Tube, use it several times, then flog it at the end of the day. :)

That being said I'm pretty sure I've been to the Lyceum Tavern before.

On a very vaugely related note (the Lyceum Tavern is near the Lyceum Theatre of which there is another Lyceum Theatre in Sheffield, which is next to the Crucible theatre where they host the Snooker Championships). I didn't realise the Crucible was actually a theatre (I was there at the weekend and saw a play called 'The Cherry Orchard')... I really never would have guessed from the times I've seen the inside on TV. [/random]

There will be pictures. Tactical Grace took a few, which he said he'd send to someone so they can be posted here. However, we were of the opinion that he should be forced to have his nation resurrected so he can post them himself...bringing him back into the fold, as it were.

I've got some pictures as well, but I left my USB cable back in Leicester so I can't post them until tomorrow evening at the earliest.

And, amazingly, I'm not hungover.

It was good to see everyone (again, in some cases). I'll let someone else give a detailed report about it.

Ok, here's my version of events:

Got there slightly later than the most, at about 1.15, after getting a bit lost in a city I've lived in for 2 years. Came in, recognised Rhursbourg (after that initial 5 second awkwardness of "do I recognise him?") and came in to see Infinite Dunes, IV Stalin, Tactical Grace, and Turquoise Days. Sat down, within 42 seconds there were around 190 references to doing a Gruenberg. C'est la vie.

We sat in the pub for a few hours, because the beer was pretty cheap, there was a motorbike to write dust messages in, and there was a dartboard - which happily avoided killing and maiming people, just - and Rubiconic Crossings, White hats and Compulsive Depression turned up. By the end, TG, TD and CD had to leave, so the six of us went a curry place White hats told us about, which turned out to very nice if obscenely hot food.

By this point I was feeling sleepy, having had more pints of beer than hours of sleep over the past two days, so headed off home, but bumped into Stalin (the NS player...) at the station. Got home, drank water, and woke up pretty much hangover free. Yay.

Topics of conversation included:
- praising other NSG posters
- slagging off other NSG posters
- "the problem with America is..."
- "the problem with France is..." (this one mainly turned out to be "...the French")
- football
- some kind of technological thing I didn't really follow
- the state of Britis education
- why libertarianism sucks
- why socialism sucks
- other

I had a nice time: thanks to everyone who came!

Tactical Grace, Infinite Dunes, Compulsive Depression, Turquoise Days, Gruenberg, Rhursbourg, White Hats, Rubiconic Crossings, and I V Stalin are all just a bunch of Max Barry's puppets.

You see, Max Barry gets bored every few months or so. He goes out to random pubs and takes pictures of strangers, then comes on here and lies to us.

And I reject the assertion that some other poster (To be Confirmed - or has been confirmed now?) might have been talked about in a negative light. Even though it's true.

I also covet everybody else's curry; was it really good? I wanted to come along for that, but sleeping on Kentish Town Road wasn't as appealing as sleeping in my girlfriend's bed. And my pizza was quite good. Helped with the hangover this morning. But it wasn't curry ;_;

Yeah it was good to faces to names...and personalities.

I had a pretty fun time. We discussed a wide range of subjects...and drank. And drank. And drank.

That best was pretty decent. Obviously the landlord keeps good pipes.

High point though was the chillies...those were well nice!Very high point, they had RC hollering like a little girl - though that may have been comedic effect, but I shall still mock him for it. :)

And the drinking... yes, that was why we didn't harass the good people up at the British Museum - the beer was too good. I do like the former picture of Gruenberg. Gotta love the red eye... or orange eye in this case.
I'm just kidding.

By the way, with regards to your sig...there have been four people who have organised NS meets: Kellarly, TG, me, you.

I say that there are four organisers when Kellarly proves his existance to me and comes to next meet or untill then there will only be three in my mind. Yeah, that sounds about right.

Option A:

I have travelled the world in search of enlightenment, learned many arts and skills along the way and have returned for the greater glory of NS general.

Option B:

I've been training as a teacher and had precisely no time to myself or these boards in the last year or so...

Heyas, tis good to see you too... it's been a while since I was last here...a very long while.

Pfft, that's no excuse; I've been training as a lawyer and have still found the time to be here. :p

Has it really been a year since you left? There are still the same old friendly faces hanging about, and a few of the less friendly ones too.

Actually, I had to teach why Hull was different from another place in the world...

I don't know about a year, I figure the last time I was on was probably late last August...since then Facebook and Uni took over my life...

We've got a few trained lawyers on our course...they're all bitching about how they thought teaching would be less work but infact they're working about as hard as they used to! lol poor them....

Yeah, I got volunteered to do the next one. I was going to start a thread about it next month, perhaps.

I think there was some talking about the very end of July, or early/mid August. I'd have to do searches or something to remember.
Leicester was my favourite location, too. For Curry!

Request for any weekend between July 27 and Aug 20th, except the 10-12th of August. Preferably the last weekend so I can make TG drive. :p

Anyone from the following list willing to organise a meet in Glasgow?

Chronosia, Chumblywumbly, IL Ruffino, Infinite Revolution, The Phoenix Milita, Unified Sith, Yootopia
Is this still going on? Or have I missed it?

If there still is a meet-up in Glasgow, I’d be up for coming along.

Okeydoke. There was someone else from the far side of the atlantic, too, can't remember (Three letter acronym... The South Islands, maybe?) who might be in Blighty about then, we'll have to see if the two visits coincide.

If it does turn out to be a different weekend don't worry, Leicester's less than an hour and a half from London St. Pancras by train (although it'll cost about £40), and that line goes to Sheffield or Nottingham or somewhere Up Norf. There are also trains from Birmingham to Leicester.

Leicester isn't 100% decided yet (everyone could decide they want it in, say, London ;) ), but it's definitely the best place ;)

Leicester is probably just a little too far for me http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?daddr=Leicester&saddr=southampton&f=d&hl=en&sll=52.63473,-1.128845&sspn=1.395181,3.617249&ie=UTF8&z=8&om=1

but then again, if i have my new car by then maybe it wouldn't be so bad, especially if its a nice day and i can have the roof down :D
