A troll, Alanysum(sp?) manages to hack into sirocco's account and begins to bring back old trolls. (Jesussaves, VoteEarly, Commando[2], etc.) They terrorize the forum and he banishes the moderators to the spam forums. One poster, (no actual poster) Nevaria, manages to save the forums and restore order. Then Max comes down and makes Nevaria an administrator.

This list only contains the more recent nations. I see no mention of classic players such as GMC Military Arms, The Silver Turtle, and other illustrious names in the history of NationStates. Though, looking at more recent posts, I see that some people have filled in some of the gaps.

Or...is this just a musical of the general forum? Either way, the detail this seems to have grown to terrifies me...

I agree it's lost something in the past year or so since I joined, but we've had some gains, too. You're more than welcome to get some players older than I (as is Neut) to make some suggestions. The things I know from before my time I've heard either from someone else on the forums or NSWiki.

In all my time playing this game, I don't think I've ever bothered to read the entirety of a thread that was over 10 pages long. :)

I posted it above the cast of characters.
Basically, a troll hacks into a moderator's account and takes over general and the mods are banished to the spam forums. One Generalite saves the day and Max comes down and makes him an admin. There's music and such in it.

Two young newbies run in, screaming excitedly and spewing streams of smilies and exclamation marks-mixed-with-ones every time they speak. They bounce around, giggling hysterically, bumping into each other and generally being newbish. They then break into a very fast, very high duet on the chorus, with one singing the first verse and the other the second.

We're missing Karmabaijan from the mods list. Given that they're the lead op on #nationstates IRC, they should have a role in it somehow.

I think Colodia and Czardas are important parts, but I don't think they could be the lead - you possibly need someone blander for that, which is why a random non-nation might be a better bet.

Yeah, a random non-real nation would be best I think. Someone young yet curious and confused as to the NS world around him. Constantly being surprised by various NSers he comes across.

Newbie: When did this happen?

NS: Well my dear lad, it happened long ago, when the game was not even a decade old and there were only 120,000 active nations, as compared to five million now. It was a time before Myrth was an administrator and Melkor Unchained was a radical Trotskyite.There was Queen FairtTInk and we were just beginning to form the Parliament. It was a time when moderators roamed the forums...

Newbie: What's a moderator?

NS: Well, a moderator was someone who kept the peace in the forums. If someone was insulting another too harshly, then a moderator would lock the thread and they would issue warnings. There were about ten of them, I believe, There were some great ones. Frisbeetaria, Cogitation, me of course, Myrth, and at after the war there were Czardas, Lunatic Goofballs, and Monkeypimp (before he went insane). To some they were their greatest enemies, to other they were their free ride, and to a third group they were dear friends.

Newbie: Things must have been very chaotic as compared to the mod-free, porn-plastred forum of today.

NS:This was the Bronze Age and it was relatively peaceful. The Golden Age had ended when the mvoe to Jolt occured, only two other nations exist that were alive before then. The Silver Age passed briskly, then the Bronze Age was ushered in. It was, for the most part, a quiet place. There were trolls here and there...

NS: A troll was a person who intentionally angered people.

NS: For various reasons. Sometimes because of boredom, sometimes because of sexual irritation, or possibly because it made them feel better.Often when a troll was confronted by a moderator, he would plea with the moderator to spare him while the other posters tried to make their case, and it went a little something like this...

Well, after this battle the n00bs and trolls are destroyed, for the most part. I had to be selective about who to choose as a mod, I'm sorry, shock value and all. I will write more in a few minutes.

We need to have some kind of plot though, unless we wanted to go after a "Rent" kind of affair, in which it would all be much easier.

Perhaps these two n00bs will find themselves at different ends of the ideological spectrum, (one a collectivist/anarchist, one a conservative) and a war amongst the forums starts to ensue (with so much flame-baiting and flaming that the moderators often have to forumban four people a thread.) The mods will be so spent of energy that they eventually lose their moderating wizardly powers, culminating in a sad duet between Myrth and Katganistan. The flame war crescendoes into one monstrous song, someone murders a forummember in real life (flies to her town, hunts her down, and shoots her), and it all quiets down. Cat-Tribe steps out, hand-in-hand with Tink and Lunatic Goofballs, and sings a triumphant and powerful solo to all the flamers, and all the flamers and ideologies join hand in hand in a chorus, over the fallen body of BitchKitten, and raise her memory into heaven/higher conciousness/worms in the ground (for the Atheists), after which the forums are triumphantly the same as they always were!

The mods, in their effort to stop the flaming war, start forumbanning everyone left and right, and many innocents are caught in the crossfire. (Well-known innocents. Like Tink.)

Then, as the mods lose their magical powers, they fall prey to the flamers and end up flaming themselves. Max, meanwhile, is busy filming the new movie so he's out of the picture.

I think we just see how much material we produce, within reason. In terms of Acts, that first one was insanely short, so probably we'll have to go for more than rather than fewer.

Well we can always add to what we already have, right? Expand on already conceived dialogue, add another scene, etc. If it is unconfortably short, it's not that big a deal. Scriptwriters do this all the time...not that I'd know, but...

To some they were their greatest enemies, to other they were their free ride, and to a third group they were dear friends.
Newbie: Things must have been very chaotic as compared to the mod-free, porn-plastred forum of today.

NS:This was the Bronze Age and it was relatively peaceful. The Golden Age had ended when the mvoe to Jolt occured, only two other nations exist that were alive before then. The Silver Age passed briskly, then the Bronze Age was ushered in. It was, for the most part, a quiet place. There were trolls here and there...

NS: A troll was a person who intentionally angered people.

NS: For various reasons. Yes, I know. My point, then, was that it's hard to tell how many acts we will have if we're accepting that the first one might either be short, or need adding to. Given those constraints, it seems silly to start wondering about structure when we don't have substance yet.

I can't sing at all, but I can play most things, and I'll write music or arrangements for bass lines etc. if any one wants. Given that this is a musical, I was actually thinking we didn't have enough songs in the first act (I didn't just use italics I didn't just use italics I didn't just use italics I didn't just use italics I didn't just use italics). Perhaps we should wait for the executive producer's decision?

New Zealand and Generalite #1 (whomever that might be), as well as maybe a few others, are compelled (I should say zombified) to go find the Scroll. They find Sirrocco and overwhelm him enough to have a few dodge his forumban and pry out the Scroll from him. Once opened it takes on a host (one of the already mentioned Trolls) and becomes the embodiment of Alanysum, and the 1337ers his pawn Trollimites and h4x0rz.

He begins to act strangely and soon corrupt many of the mods
Myrth is one of the corrupted
The others are banished to the spam forum
A war starts between the n00bs/Trolls/Mods and the Generalites/banished mods.
Myrth turns over to the good side and helps the main character.
Alanysum is defeated.
Myrth becomes an admin for his good work

i would argue for having constant background music, but a) it depends on the musicians (Achtung 45, Gruenberg, Squornshelous) and their time, and b) i'm hearing all this as some kinda full orchestra job, so it depends on the musical style used

No, no, I agree. RIght at the beginning, LGD mentioned loud crashing music when trolls enter, perhaps with sinister strings as well. I think it's a good idea. We should also not forget the BUMP riff.

and definatley its own NSwiki article so all the parts can always be shown together


plus i think you can take swf movies in Flash and tie them together as scenes - meaning after each act is created individually it wouldn't be hard to put them all together into one broadband-fiendly movie

There are quiet moments at times as well as loud blasts, and then they lead into the sung music when necessary.In conjunction with Pure Metal, I could theortically create a full orchestra sounding background, though I'm no John Williams (you know, the guy that wrote all the Star Wars songs :) ) But time will be a concern as this is my last week of summer and I'll be busy pretty much full time with school and my job for at least a couple months.

For me to compose such pieces using MIDI, as I only have software to do it with, would be very time consuming, and frankly I'm not sure if my own composition skills are that good yet!

We should also not forget the BUMP riff.
