Something's not adding up. If you look at the exit polls for Ohio on CNN, you see that Kerry should have a few percent lead.

Let's take 100 Ohioans as a sample. According to exit polls, 38% are democrats, 37% are republicans, and 24% are independent.

Kerry has 91% of democrats, so that's 34.58. He has 6% of republicans, so that's 2.22. And he has 60% of independents, so that's 14.4. That'd add up to 51.2 people of our 100 sample.

Bush has 8% democrats, 3.04. 94% republicans, 34.78. 39% independent, 9.36. This adds up to 47.18 people of our sample.

So having Bush up 52% to 48% doesn't make sense to me. I don't know which numbers to believe!

WEIRD.

So far

9% of democrats voted for Bush
7% of republicans voted for Kerry

That's just....odd. To me at least.

That in Ohio?

I know FL doesn't make much sense. I was not expecting results or even an exit poll like what I'm seeing here.

The same thing I posted earlier applies to Florida too. Bush has a VERY minor lead from the exit polls, but CNN has it at 52% to 47%.

Same 100 person sample. According to exit polls, 38% are democrats, 39% are republicans, and 23% are independent.

Kerry has 86% of democrats, so that's 32.68. He has 7% of republicans, so that's 2.73. And he has 60% of independents, so that's 13.8. That'd add up to 49.21 people of our 100 sample.

Bush has 13% democrats, 4.94. 92% republicans, 35.68. 38% independent, 8.74. This adds up to 49.36 people of our sample.

AHHHHHHH!

Because Ohio isn't monolithic either...the problem is that turnout * republicans appears to have been strong in those precincts reporting so far...

There was also a decided income divide: Those earning $50,000 or less resoundingly backed the Massachusetts senator (58 percent to 41 percent), while respondents with a higher annual income were more likely to back the president.

so, by the logic of some left wingers, dumb people make more money and smart people make less? not getting the left is smarter attitude in any way.....

Yes, looks like the people I agreed to buy plane tickets for will have a difficult choice :) (I offered to about 5 people that I would buy a one way ticket out of the country if Bush won ... people who said they'd leave if Bush won ... with the understanding that they don't come back for 4 years).

I predict that once again (just like 4 years ago) /this/ selection of people will all choose to stay in the US.
Yeah, all those Alec Baldwin liberals are not going anywhere.

They said they're leaving, they should go... Hey, they said it, not me.

My faith in the USA has now completely eroded.

I bet international terrorists and the likes of Osama Bin Laden are over the moon, Bush Jnr couldn't be a better recruiter for them.

He's not recruiting them, he's just bringing them out of the woodwork... Would you rather we fight the terrorists on their ground, or ours? I mean, if we have to lose lives to terrorists, I would rather it be volunteers in the military than innocent civillian children. But, that's just me.

His policies in the wider middle east are undoubtabely enraging and radicalising more and more radical Islamists - drawing them to join terrorist organisations such as Al Qaeda. It's the fact that so many (not all, we have to be careful not to tar all with the same brush!) Americans can not see that it is their foreign policy that probably caused 11. September and since then they have completely failed to address that which astounds me. I guess it's just an example of the USA's general lack of understanding of the rest of the world.

US foreign policy caused 9/11?!?!? I'm sorry, I prefer to live the life I have, with the stuff I have, and I don't think we should back down... The big beef that most of them (terrorists) have with us is that we support Israel. Those people need support. They have been fucked over, treated like crap, etc, for too long... I'm sure we could win over some people for condemning Israel's attacks on the PLO, but that is a course of action we could not/should not take...

Well, that is great news for Europe. It will only make the union stronger while with Kerry, this would not be needed.

Like said by French generals, a Bush victory will putt the question to reprogram the objectives of the nuclear rockets of Europe and put US targets in them. Just in case to be prepared for the next terrible future.

We still need to count the absentee ballots on Florida and Ohio. Theoretically both could go to Kerry.

Bush 254
Kerry 252

Even if Bush gets those other 2 states Kerry could still win with OH and FL.

And I was hoping it be FULLY over by now but the drama is going on for another week.

Try not to let politics bring you down... I just laugh and carry on... besides, in my opinion, all politicians are useless... they make empty promises, they fight for hopeless causes, and they keep raising tax. Life would be no different under kerry, except we would probably not have to worry about iraq.

I wish I could find a link to it, but the Army Times conducted a poll among all servicemen and it showed Bush with a 70-30 lead among the military.

Despite Bush's ~126,000 lead man? People are talking about provisional ballots in Ohio, yet we saw prov ballots in action in Florida last time. And they only gave Gore about 1000 more votes.

A little math: According to my Sec.State Kenneth Blackwell, there were 175,000 provisional ballots cast, to take a lead in Ohio Kerry neads virtually all of them. Yet, look at florida, and how few gore picked up.

But traditionally they don't. The vast majority of absentee voters fall into George W. Bush's favorite and best leading spots, military families overseas and old people. Groups in which Bush had a 70-30 lead and 65-44-1 lead. Don't get your hopes up.

Admittedly it could happen, but reality sets in.

Truthfully, for all of the (grumpy) Europeans out there, I don't feel that the insulting that I've been seeing is good or just. I for one am not what you view as a stereotypical Bush voter. Many Europeans see Bush voters as deadseat ueber-conservative Christian racist rednecks. That frankly just isn't true. The vast bulk of Bush voters are not flocks of sheep (although some are). I am skeptical of the Pat. act, not the biggest fan of the Iraq war. But I am behind Bush's economic policy 100%. I believe that the government should minimize it's intervention, and economic tax cuts seem to be a good place to start.

So, please, let's not be jerks, let's admit others have different opinions. And remember this grand statement of mine:

First, just because you disagree with someone, doesn't make them wrong. Facts make them wrong, and frankly there aren't enough facts about now to draw any conclusions about correctness. Second, if someone's opinion is proven to be wrong then just because someone's opinion is wrong doesn't make it stupid or invalid.

Bush scares the Bejesus out of me! And I don't even have any Bejesuses. Ignoring how little sense my previous coment is, I can't trust Bush. I am middle class, not rich, so his tax cuts don't effect me. He is destroying the forests and wetlands that I want my future children to enjoy, and his war in Iraq is just a perverted copy of what his father tried to do.

His tax cuts won't AFFECT you? Wow, you must not have received two checks in the mail with your name on them during his presidency. Kerry's "he gave the rich tax cuts" really came down to EVERYONE poor, middle, and rich got money.

First difference between the two candidates (and by the way I am a registered DEMOCRAT who voted for Bush)...... I know what Bush believes and how he is going to act. I know he is going to act in the best interest of the USA not someone else. Kerry, on the other hand is so far to the left that he no longer cares about the USA and wants to make US law based upon the opinions of others, not the citizens of the US. He is completely and totally interested only in public opinion and has no guiding principles of his own.

Second difference - Bush will continue to take the fight TO the terrorists instead of trying to catch them when they are already in the US. Kerry will ask France and Germany if it's ok to fight terrorists when they are IN the US. If a poll says Osama should be pardoned, even if it's a poll taken from those serving life sentences for murder, Kerry will act on it.

Third difference - Kerry will raise my taxes and take money out of my pocket. he's been doing it for years, and his new health care plan not only requires it, it demands it. Bush will continue to give everyone tax breaks and work towards reworking the tax code so everyone gets move money in their pocket.

Who cares if a person LOOKS dumb or SOUNDS dumb. Kerry ACTS dumb. I can't believe my party nominated this guy. How can anyone be fooled into hearing him say one plus one equals four so many times? How can you trust a man who says he is a war hero, but threw "his" medals on the white house lawn because HE COMMITTED WAR CRIMES? How can you trust someone to make the right decision for his country when you are talking about someone who nominated himself for the purple hearts he needed to get out of Vietnam? How can you trust someone to lead the country when he demands his opponent release his military records hoping for a scandal but refuses to release his own records because he was dishonorably discharged from the military?

Corporate collapse after Kerry tragedy

John Kerry's election to US president sent Haliburton stocks crashing overnight. One unnamed stockbrocker said "They just keep on falling until they stopped at $1.00. It was a slaughter, never to be seen before!". On news of the collapse of the Haliburton stocks to a record low, Haliburton tried to suspend trade in it's stock on the NYSE, but it was too late.

People on the streets were using their Haliburton stock certificates as cigarette paper and it was being shredded to make cheap confetti for the Democratic parties being held all over US.
