Oh it most definitely is slipping again. It does it every night (at like 1 AM EST and past), but I have never seen it skip hours before.

Thanks for the suggestion, DMG. But Fayalin's already being contacted through dreams - I'd rather not run that idea into the ground. Plus, we've already established how the spirits contact Elva, which is a mental convo while she's awake. Not to say it's not possible, but again, I'd like to reserve dream messages for Faye and have other forms of contacts for other people.

Elva probably would've found out where to go next had she talked to Faye and Tovius...but I guess she's unconscious now and unable to talk. Better hope Lanu figures out what to do. But if Reg doesn't reply, I'll have to assume Lanu didn't reply either and move on with the plot without y'all >:-)

03-09-2007, 02:54
A black man getting a bed in the middle of the night in a small foreign strange village? Why didn't Free Eagles have Fayalin help them find somewhere to stay, that would have made the most sense, and given them time to talk.
DMG
03-09-2007, 03:02
lol, Lanu is black... who knew?

Perhaps it would help to find an inn for a bed if there any there and/or show/say that he has an injured lady with him.
Regenius
03-09-2007, 03:03
He doesn't have money... and I assume that the people in this world are at least a little racist, cause they don't exactly seem to be embracing rule of law and social liberalism.

Might go so far as killing him for "hurting" or otherwise violating Elva. That was going to be one of my plot angles, him dealing with racism on the mainland.
DMG
03-09-2007, 03:07
lol, well, then follow Faylin and explain everything to her than you are saying to me right now.

03-09-2007, 03:18
Tovius asked Lanu a direct question, so he could reply to that. They're in a small forest village; there wouldn't be any inns or taverns or anything of the sort. Faye suggested taking advantage of friendly villagers willing to open their homes.

Racism in the sense that you're thinking of wasn't actually a huge problem back in the days of the late Roman Republic and the Roman Empire. If I recall correctly, in fact, one of the emperors (or was it consulars? Pretty sure it was emperor) was a dark-skinned African. For the ancient Romans, it was more a matter of "us" versus "them". It didn't matter what color your skin was as long as you were one of "us".

So from that angle, Lanu might be looked down upon by Tal'therans and the people of their territories as a Korovirian, in which he'll mostly be considered as an uncivilized, uneducated savage, rather than how the old American south looked upon those of African descent. His conduct and mannerisms matter more than his skin, and Tal'therans and the people of their territories won't automatically assume Lanu's bad and took advantage of Elva because he's black.

Fayalin has other things on her mind than helping or talking to Lanu right now. She's seen to Elva's injury, so she's done what's expected of her. Now she's got her own issues to deal with. She's been kidnapped and nearly killed, she's in her nightdress in front of a load of men, and now she's just found out that some inconsiderate moron has broken her house. Rather understandably, in my opinion, she's somewhat in shock, and could probably do with having someone try and calm her down.

The actions of a character don't necessarily fit what's best for the story, but what's most appropriate for them at that time. So you'll just have to deal with it, I'm afraid. :p

Thanks DMG.

As for Fayalin, I think Thibault might have to be the one to give her hugs and kisses ;) Elva's unconscious, Lanu's taking care of her, and Tovius is semi-interrogating Lanu and is more interested in continuing with his mission that with comforting some civilian. After all, an active legionary would see worse things during this term of service.

That's just been my idea, I have no idea what Blastit wants to do. Another possibility was Valtrox's Cadeyrn and Hel end up fighting to the death. However since Valtrox can end her life at command it complicates things. I also have Xenocrates, Beau, Lupo, and The Skull Knight to consider. I'm fairly happy with what I did to Mahura so that's one out of seven down. :)

It's not even set in stone, Beau was supposed to be the good guy in the first one where as Cadeyrn was evil.

Tell ya what, Shal, let's make a deal. You ensure that there is not a single stray cat in the U.S, and I'll change my sig to advocate a more chaste set of ideals. So far, though, I'm the humane one on Nation States. Cynical? Yes. True? Also, yes. The kittens have four options ahead of them:
1) Some are smote by God.
2) Some starve
3) Some are "rescued" by shelters, only to get killed via CO poisoning
4) Very few are rescued

After all, given the choice, I'd rather get hit by a bolt of lightning (God's traditional method of smiting) then starve to death in the back alleys of New York City. It's quicker, less painful, and always contains the off chance that I'll get super powers akin to those of Captain Marvel. It's less than one in a trillion, but there's a chance. Not so much when I'm starving in the Big Apple. Or inhaling CO.

Harlin and all the Jiltakin are technically so over powered that they could kill anyone (they essentially teleport...pop slice throat pop...etc) but that wouldn't be any fun... I think he can take skull knight down, especially with the rage coursing through his veins.

The question now is, does the Skull Knight even have a throat to slice? Isn't he just a walking pile of metal imbued with a soul in the middle or something like that?

By the way, asking my gf's dad for permission/blessing was definitely scarier than asking her (mostly since I knew she was going to say yes). And yeah, she said yes.

KAtG - I've been in feline rescue for over twenty five years. I Know what it's like for ferals. I won't go into details, but trust me, I know. I could make sure there were no more strays in the world I would, believe me if I had just one real wish.

But I also know that being zapped by a lightning bolt is a painful way to die. And while I don't believe in the Christian god, I should hope he has kinder ways that a lightning bolt.

And I think what offends me the most is saying that a being worshiped by millions is so pettty as to kill an innocent creature over what some human does/ doesn't do - such a being is not worthy of being worshipsed.

If you had one wish you would wish for no more stray cats in the world...?

Not world peace, eternal happiness, cleansing of all disease, healing of the sick, prosperity for all, divine life... or anything else?
Tanaara
05-09-2007, 05:45
Please note : I said no more strays - I didn't limit it to just cats - but all strays- dogs, horses, bunny rabits etc- and people too. All strays

How much disease, hunger and lonilness and sorrow would that take care of? For all the strays to have loving homes. Maybe not all of it but a hell'a alot.

You see I beleive we have to do things on our own mostly, without 'God's" aid. That we can't sit and wait praying for some 'God' to swoop down and cure all our failings- We have to do that ourselves.

And Peace? We'd be dead of boredom within a generation, peace just isn't possible, even with a wish. It would have to change, to alter, man's intrinsice nature - so, *Shrug* (Plus when the war mongering aliens came stopping by we'd be fried ) Eternal happiness - you can die of to much happiness just as you can of too much sadness, so Meh and again an intrinsic change that I think would have very bad reprecussions. Divine life- I am part of the Divine so I have that already. Next?

And i kinda have to agree with Tanara on this one. Mainly on the point that almost all of the wishes you listed DMG would simply not last, World Peace would not last, people would get sick again, giving prosperity to all would just mean people would redifine prosperity to something else and it wouldn't last. Eternal Happiness would last eternally, but it would be boring. :p

For the two of you with characters in Eavana, you won't see the fields turning brown in a matter of seconds like William, Icarus, and the others would. The center of the browning of the field is closer to Senhild than it is to Eavana, and it stopped before it reached Eavana.

Lanu looked up at the man he had met the night before, the inquisitive one. This man had so many questions for which Lanu had no answers. "Ready for what?"

The dark man was apparently a light sleeper, as he awoke when the legionnaire approached. "Greetings..." What was his name again? "...Lanu Jbina. Since you do not appear to know where you are or why you are here, it will be best if I took you along with me. I will be passing by Aervyn, the capital of Gaireth, and you will be better able to get your bearings once there. Gather your belongings; we will be departing soon."

I'll assume it's an OOC mistake, Reg. If you meant it ICly, though, let me know and I'll have Tovius respond to it (I guess that'll help to make Tovius think that Lanu's a stupid and barbaric Korovirian who doesn't have much of a memory span).

DMG: Tovius is dragging Lanu and Elva along with him, as per the big, long post on page 17 because he doesn't trust the two to stay at the village, with no legionary over them. He wants to drop them off at Aervyn when he passes by it.

Ok, a brief summary of what everyone else is doing...

It's night time where Nald (Canadstein) is at Eavana (time is pretty fluid right now, until everyone gets to Eavana and the real RP starts). He's following a large, wolf-like creature that's heading into the town of Eavana. This large creature's howl was enough to scare away a pack of regular wolves.

Jaso (Elves Security Forces) is in the same timeline as Nald. He's at his smithy within Eavana, just passing the time for now.

William (King Arthur) broke away from his group of mages and went east by himself, toward Eavana. He killed a young ogre along the way, and that somehow caused a large swath of land to die.

The swath of land that died did not reach Eavana, but it did reach Senhild, where everyone else is currently at. Icarus and Viktor realized what was happening and are rushing to go to Eavana to figure out what is going on and hopefully try to stop the dying of the land from spreading. The other three haven't posted yet, so the last thing that happened regarding them was they were squabbling about going or not going to Eavana with Icarus and Viktor.

Theao, I haven't gotten and replies from Tanara, but the show must go on, so let's just say that Orome ordered Kiten to leave her alone/go away. We can always amend that if need be later on. Sounds like Kiten is starting to think that the rotting fields is tied to the Underdark issue, no? That'll probably be enough to get him to go along with Viktor/Icarus.

TG for DMG, Kitab, Arthur, and Reg.

Tanara's dropping out of the RP, but will make an IC post about Orome going her own way. So you can wait for that post if ya want, Theao.

To everyone else, as you can probably guess, I'm being fluid with time and each group is more or less in their own chunk of time now. The Nald/Jaso timeline is pretty much synced up to the Tovius/Thibault/Faye/Lanu/Elva timeline as of my most recent post. It's night time in Eavana with a bright moon out.

William's timeline is the same day as the above characters, but it's during the day rather than that night.

Viktor/Icarus/Kiten are about four days behind at the moment.

For Thib/Faye/Lanu/Elva, assume they got to chat a little with one another and at least know everyone's name in the group by now. What with it being 2 weeks later, Elva's also back to normal. Tovius would've been going at military marching pace to get from the river to Eavana, so if your characters aren't used to walking long distances for several days on end, then they might be fatigued from that (and as Lanu/Elva don't have much in the way of money, and I'm assuming neither does Faye, they couldn't have purchased any horses to help out).

I am blown away, just the kind of roleplay I have always wanted to be in!

Name: Tavin
Race: Human
Gender: Male
Age: 25
Occupation: Taveler - Gunsmith
Brief physical description: Deep tan skin, standing at 5'11" and well-built. He has the appearance of someone who has been living off the land, in the toughest way possible all his life. However, his face shows gentle care, his beard trimmed as well as can be. He bears black hat, in the triangular form similar to a pirate hat. His clothes are mostly made out of treated leather. The main piece is a jacket, looking fairly worn, but obviously created by someone familiar with the fashions of the cities. He carries two revolvers at his side, sandalwood grips weighted to his hands. He currently travels about the lands.
Abilities: He is a man of knowledge, raised in a very off the side town in the wastelands where having a skill meant survival. He is knowledgeable with guns and their uses.
Place of origin: The wastelands - Small village named Shavar.
Weakness/Vice: He doesn't take things people say as seriously as he should. A simple threat is dismissed at a moment's notice.
Deity: Parminius

The only person I've flatly rejected without a second thought was that space pirate character. Reg, Will was with the soldier and the girl. Icarus would not have been ahead of him, he would have come up behind, as the chase had moved away from where Will was waiting. After he met up with the first two, then the others would have come. He would be third in the gathering, behind Tovius, then Elva, and right before Nald.

1) They never really established a place to meet

2) Icarus was heading towards the black spot against his earth sight

3) He was following different alleyways than Will

4) Why question?

Simple: I had Will with Tovius and Elva, addressing Tovius about the lupine creature-thingy. Thus, having Icarus stop Will and ask him about what is happening throws my previous post out of the continuum. I edited it to make it more apparent that William had already met up with Tovius and Elva, but having Icarus meet him and stop him in the middle of the chase throws everything out of whack. Even though, yes, they didn't follow the same paths, Rhin and I had Will meeting up with Tovius and Elva before anybody else got there. You post puts him in the back, and still running. We had him in the middle, and stopping where Elva stopped to talk with Tovius.

So she is currently 14 in RotS despite being 14 in CotG?

There's a 15 year gap between the two RPs.

Quick note: A specific age was never said, but she matures unusually fast throughout CotG. This is thanks to the fact I came in late and didn't even plan ahead. Then Valtrox gave her the vessel that appeared near the end before she returned to her regular body (14ish).

The move to bump up her age was only to bring her into RoTS at a more appropriate age.

I really have mixed feelings about the game. I can't decide should I love it, or hate it? The story was good, but it's always been good. The ending left much to be desired, though they honestly tried this time around. The game play is the same as the last two, excellent. The new toys were 'neat' at best. Some of the levels were challenging on normal that even looking at Legendary makes me afraid. I've beaten the first two, solo, on controller smash mode without too much trouble, but this another mountain altogether.

Another note: Where the fuck frosted cake are the other Spartans!? It would have been a much better experience if Kelly, Fred, Linda, *forgot the last one* were your companions rather than the god damned Arbiter.

Sorry I have been very busy lately and have had some very spotty internet access. So what has happened while I was gone? Also how should I catch up?

Well, the group found Caeli, and she was kidnapped before they could save her. But since Nald did not respond to any of that, he is either uncaring of his sister's safety (which clearly isn't the case), or he wasn't there to try to save her. So the best way to go, I believe, is that Nald listened to Tovius' order to go find some legionnaires for backup. That solves the problem of Nald not helping his sister from being kidnapped, since he wasn't there to see her being kidnapped, but keep in mind that this also means Nald has no idea what happened down there, not even that Caeli was involved in any way (although he could always assume). I'll be sending you a TG shortly.

Hey all. The forum decided to crash when I tried to post this yesterday, and I had to run, so I couldn't post it until now. For those characters who are knowledgeable in geography (or at the very least knowledgeable in the geography of the appropriate area), Karamethos is represented on the map by the two huts directly east of Aristumnos. It is to that region what Delphi was to ancient Greece, the location of the Oracle.

As per Kitab's question, Nald led the legionnaires to the hole in the ground. The wolf didn't leave any footprints, but Tovius and the others left a ton of fresh ones for the legionnaires to follow.

Situation inside the tomb is resolved, everyone is searching out a place to sleep for the night. Since you arrived with Tovius, Feyalin and Thibault i assume you would be heading back to that inn either alone or catch up with Lup.

Scratch that, it is now the next morning, assume the above and continue.

Canadstein... do you edit your posts before they go up? Sometimes I feel like you don't know english very well.

Also, on a more IC note, Nald could bring up the fact that Icarus is only (and thus only appears) two years older than Nald. It'll be rebuked, but it's a logical argument for the boy to make, having never seen Icarus in action, and thus not knowing that he's a talented mage.

Hmm, no one has any opinions on which direction they want to go? This was intended to give you guys the opportunity to decide which path to take to get to the final destination. Yes, every choice has their good and their bad, some more than others. But your choices will determine how the story unfolds - you'll be integral parts of the story, rather than just participants who tag along with what my character does. Seize the day!

Plus, I wouldn't have anything to post until all you guys speak up.

Gave a summarized brief of the facts, and then my argument. I have got to stop thinking in terms of dissertations. But hey, now at least we have all of my thoughts on the destination topic in one post, so people can argue with me in a far more easy manner. It might want to make you tear me apart, but at least it's convenient for you to do so. :)

DMG:

Despite the personal objections of our bandit friend Thiabult, we decided to travel along the southern route. Three days out, we're at our camp, and we are now being attacked by a bunch of guys in leather armor. They've got archers and swordsmen, and to make matters worse, those the could normally use magic are finding it difficult to do so. The magic is...altered in some way. I don't know about anybody else, but William is too impatient to try altering his manipulation, so he's switched to simple swordwork to get out of this one alive.

Also, sorry Canad for forgetting about having someone attack Nald. But hey, that means Nald can do whatever he wants.

Like, help Fayalin or something.

Cause I'm not gonna have Tovius do it. He's there to help move the plot along, not to steal any spotlights, so someone else will need to step up to the plate if/when they get the chance to.

Or maybe Fayalin can start pulling some Matrix stuff, heh heh.

Too much work to do the rest atm, but maybe later. Well, apart from the fact that you're one of the people that could do with actually making a post (especially since you were directly addressed in Rhin's last post) :p, we could possibly do with another one from Rhinara. There certainly wasn't much for me to respond to in the last one, bar something along the lines of 'Faye's getting up, picking up her stuff and following Tovius' which I'd struggle to extend to a length I'd feel acceptable (I really hate making short IC posts if I can avoid it).

I must have missed that one, though if the timeline is 20 months, I don't know how much speed I need. TG me with the details, and tell Blastit I'd be happy to look at it, and probably join.

On another note, as far as I can tell, the group is headed to the river, where they plan to hire passage to the coast. William is not with them, having gone on ahead to 'question' one of men from the raid on the camp, utilizing a technique that essentially amounts to waterboarding.
