Safely out of the water, Sara, with help stripped herself of the pressure suit. It felt good to be out of that thing. She hugged James tightly and said softly, so that no one else would overhear, "James, I am truly sorry about your friend. He was a brave man to refuse such an order."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Kallisti task-force fell into formation with the Enchantress, while the Rear-Admiral retained direct control over the Erisian vessels, tactical command of the force was being passed to the Soloriel ship.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Yes Colonel, I am troubled. Many things have happened over the last couple days. The Betrayers are still massed on our borders, Some Dephirian force or other landed in the north, Bandits are becoming more active," Lillis sighed and smirked. "You know, the usual problems of command."

She took the sketched map, and grinned. The man had talent, that was for sure. She wondered if perhaps he had been an artist, or would have been if he hadn't become a member of the military. There would be times for questions of that nature in less troubled moments, now though, she was far to busy to continue with such niceties.

"Go ahead Colonel, you can try an teach me anything you like. I can't guarantee that I'll learn though."

The bandits primary camp has been found by the CEF soldiers. It's in the middle of the worst of hill country, so it's effectively impassible terrain for anything that's wheeled or tracked.
The base is very well disguised, and would have been almost impossible to spot from above.
In spite of its extreme isolation and good camo, defenses were not ignored - there are bandits with shoulder-launched SAMs hiding around the base, plus network of good, well laid out, defensive positions - trenches and berms, sandbagged machinegun positions and the like, along with some reinforced sheet metal "bunkers".
It appears that there are several hundred bandits present in this base, and more seem to be operating elsewhere.
The camp itself is in a little valley between two large cliffs, with caves set into them. The caves appear to be in use for storage and housing, although there are also some improvised structures in the valley itself.
Most of the defenses are concentrated on the cliffs and the hills around the camp site, but all of those sites are connected to the camp and to each other by the tunnels.
As the commandos watch, it becomes obvious that the bandits are preparing for some sort of major operation...

OOC: Soloriel's last post was 1500 in thsi thread.

The ten CEF men had established visual contact, taken pictures, made notes, and then retreated to a safer, more secure area. The camp was only visible by satellite because they knew it was there. Other than that, it seemed like nothing. It was well-camouflaged, between the two mountains and with earthtone buildings painted to look like the ground. The CEF could see movement on their computer, but if not for their recorded co-ordinates, they would never have found it.

They sent the co-ordinates back and moved again, just in case the bandits could track their signal - theoretically impossible except by hacking into one of the two computers on either end or the satellite they sent it through, but still technically possible. Once that was done, they used the satellite pictures and their own sentries to watch and pick up patrol routes and patterns, timing, and other such important details to avoid being discovered. With that established, they could go and watch for ten to twenty minutes, depending, to record information.

With the first part of their mission completed, they moved on to the second: Identifying their mission, target, troops numbers, other bases - anything they could find out. This would be accomplished with long-range laser microphones (OOC: When someone talks, everything around them vibrates ever so little from the sound being caused. Although it only moves fractions of fractions of millimetres, it can be picked up by a laser aimed at whatever object is vibrating - works best with glass windows - and then the vibration can be decoded into actual words. The soundbite of the conversation that comes out is very high (up an octave or two) but it will record any words said exactly. This is modern technology. An old math teacher of mine once built one and used it in class to hear what people were saying in their house a few hundred metres away, just to show he could) aimed at the buildings, or if necessary by infiltration into the camp itself, done at night avoiding sentries and any methods of detection.

Once that was done, they would move on to the third phase: Planning the actual strike.

The colonel nodded, easily accepting the 23Erisian terms, and spoke once more:
"Alright. As for the samples... here's one right now." with that, he drew a small Gauss pistol, apparently made entierly from ceramics, from his boot and placed it on the table, smilling the entire time. He continued on then:
"As for the other, one of the rifles should do... one of my guards will hand his over to your people, along with a laptop with the apropriate files. As for the rubber... well, I'm sure that that can be delt with. For now, I have another proposal to make: a permanent exchange of embassadors."

OOC: If you say yes, I'll start a thread for embassies in Undershi.
23Eris

"Of course Colonel, a permanent Embassy would be an excellent idea." Foreign Minister Chilkevich replied. He did not of course mention that it would be an excellent way to influence Undershi to continue its liberal reforms, though it certainly passed through his mind. He reached out and took the ceramic pistol examining it carefully before placing it aside. "I am suprised you managed to get this through our security, I'll have to mention that to our staff."

The minister picked up a folder in front of him quickly glanced at some papers, "Ah yes, and the war in which you have been involved, how goes that?"

James gently held her, and let his emotions seep through slightly, his shoulders shaking and his voice thick with sadness. "Thank you Sara, for everything youve done for me so far, I dont think I could have done this alone." He stood there for a few minutes, locked to her like this, before he stepped away, reasserting that mask of neutrality so that he could better command his men. He reache into the locker he had placed his Jacket and hat into, and strapped his sword back around his waist, replacing the cap on his head and doing up the buttons of his jacket as he made his way towards the bridge.

As James settled into his Commanders seat the sonar operator called out to him. "Commander we have three Unknown contacts on an intercept course, readouts are compatible with three Seasnake class assault Submarines, orders Sir?" James face betrayed nothing, but his eye lit up with a burning fire. "Bring us up to a full tactical Alert, and ready the main tubes, lets show these bastards the meaning of the Emperors Justice."

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Chancellor smiled slightly, and gestured for the General to pull up a chair a bit closer to the bed. Once she had done so he packed away his things, so that the bed was clear. "General, this I was taught by the Emperor himself, when he noticed that my mind was troubled by the duties i had to undergo for him, and it is something that will help you too I feel. Sit up straight General, and place your hands on your knees, with both your feet firmly on the floor. Now imagine your head is tethered to the ceiling by a piece of string and close your eyes. Breathe in, and out slowly, and let the troubles and worries of this place slowly leave your mind, focus on a time when things were simpler, and calmer. When you could make the decisions you make now without the worry or danger that you feel you now must face. Let that memory surround you and swallow you, and now, slowly introduce one of the problems that you now face into that memory, and let it become part of that peace, that calm. Look at it now, with a clear and focused mind, and see it as you used to see these things. Let the decision that you must make, flow through you, make it part of you, and let the worry and stress and tension slip away, and instead let only the calm, the peace, fill your being. This way, will allow you to look at this from a new perspective General, and may help you find the peace that you so desperately need."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Enchantress, gently sculled through the water her escorts and she travelling at a steady speed, keeping watch for any threat from the sea, on Land the Loyalists stationed to protect the coasts, cheered as the majestic vessel and her escorts were spotted on radar as well as from the observation posts. Their hearts were filled with a sense of renewed hope, as the finest vessel in the Emperors service once more sailed the sea.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Submarine gently raised itself from underwater and pulled into the docks at Stronghold, shocking the hell out of a few Loyalist captains who were also berthed there for repairs. As the vessel came to a stop, it lowered anchor and waited for the Dockmaster to give permission via the coded radio signals they were communicating through to unload their cargo.

After ten minutes of frenzied communication, the permission was granted, and the small crowd of Loyalists and Erisians, and some Danteri civilians watched as the massive pair of carge doors swung open slowly, and the internal Elevator system raised the War Machine into the light of Day. Its massive form commanded respect, and as the Dock crane gently moved it onto the land, a hurried causeway was cleared. It sat there for a few minutes, as the crowd gathered around it, even some of the Loyalists were still shocked to see it, as most of these men had once been under the command of the I.C.W (ooc: im shortening this, it stands for Imperial College for War, it takes far too long to type them out all the time, so they will all be reffered to now as ICW ICC or ICT.) As it powered up it gently groaned, its red lights flickering on, and the barrels of the guns either side of its beak spinning up slightly before stopping again, its Rail Gun raised in salute to the forces gathered there, its arm clenching and unclenching as it reached its full height. And then with a slow and steady grace it turned towards the exit to Stronghold, and slowly stepped off towards the war.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Unit approached the coast, they had already seen what they had been looking for, Bret had spotted it through his rifle scope as they searched the nearest beaches for the three pilots. and as they came into range, Bret unslung his rifle once more and took careful aim, beside him two other members of the squad peered through their scopes as well, and the air was filled with the pattering of suppressed fire, the men on the beach with the guns fell backwards blood spraying from the wounds that had been caused to them, and the Patrolboat slammed up and onto the sand, the Unit rapidly moving to secure the three airmen, they stood guard over them their black cloaked figures, and black masks giving them an intimidating presence. Finally Captain Bret stepped forwards. "Gentleman, we need you to come with us now, before reinforcements arrive at this area. Take these guns and prepare to move out." Bret threw the rifles of the downed soldiers on the beach at the men, before unslinging his rifle once more, and getting his men to form up.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Loyalist forces in North Danteri were digging in, they now had to contend with a threat both to the west and to the south, and as such they prepared themselves for a long and bitter fightthe forces in the Solorien held lands near the coast had received orders to prepare for a massive offensive to the south, with the aid of 'Reinforcements'...

To the south the Loyalists were preparing themselves for war, the Betrayers had weakened slightly in recent weeks, pulling troops towards the coasts and the north, and away from the borders to South Haven. They geared up all available armour and planes, and strengthened their forward lines, ready for the push, when and if the order ever came from the Chancellor.

The Melii Spiders & Sky Ladders

The Tree that had been planted when the Melii first claimed the Island of Avalon was now Sapling. Yesterday, a piece of the sky was stolen from the Voids and placed above the Tree. The bit of sky was covered in crystaline silicates and brilliantly reflected the infernos. Beside this first star a small rosette of tiny companions could be seen at night. The suns rays hid them in the day. THe sun, however, could not fully hide the new star.

From this star, there decended a thin ladder and the children of Anansi. The Anansi spiders were seen by the keen of eye to run up and down the length of the gossamer threads. It was said, that they amused themselves by making silken parachutes releasing them to the winds. Indeed, the peasants discovered many a strange bolt of silken materials in the next few months. Each bolt held differing properties, however, the most interesting to children was the blur cloth and the sparky cloth.

The blur cloth was not exactly a cloak of invisibilty, however, it could fuzz the outlines of a person. Properly shaped and used many a group of enterprising Danteri younglings began experiementing with the camaflouge abilities of the Blur cloth. The sparky cloth was a brilliant irredecent material simillar in appearance to the translucant wings of many insects. While it had the drap and feeling of raw silk, it could be refined and made into highly fashionable and extremly expensive outfits... A small cottage industry in these two products and of other "Heavenly Gifts" developed in the Isles. The rains of mana were extremely erratic and would occur but once or twice every few months. The more superstious whispered ghost stories, while the more suspicious began to wonder...

semi-secret:
This Island of Avalon has become a forward base for the Melii in this region of the NS World. As one of our first bases outside the Isles, it is favored with HUGE investments. The military presence is to help protect our investments. The Melii World Tree system is a major expensive step. The Star is an orbital platform. The Tree is a Space Tower. The Ladder is a space ladder. The Spiders are constructer/repairers. The rosette are various Satelittes. The "gifts" are not exactly intentional. They are various "leaf-sails" that have been cut by micrometeors and survive both the spiders and the re-entry. It will be a couple of more years yet until the ladder is fully operational...

ooc: Kinda hard to not notice a space ladder... and an increased number of "stars". :p

Dear Faction Leaders/Holders:

I would like to hold a conference about this conflict in a secured, neutral location. Dephire would like to extend an arm of trust to all factions that need supplies and resources. This trust will also include enforcement, by whatever means are necessary. You may set up the location. I am already currently in a secluded area within South Haven's borders. Please, I cannot press the urgency of this meeting. Thank you.

Signed,

-Reynolds was confused, then looked up at the men.-

"You...your not going to kill us?"

-Mac, being his arrogant self, sat up to address Reynolds.-

"If they wanted to kill us, they would of killed us while we were resting. Isn't that right Rem?"

-Captain Rem was dazed. Which sparked some excitement and anxiety within Mac.-

"You killed Rem! You Bastards!"

-Rem finally stood up.-

"I'm not dead. But I wish I was...man...that hurt!"

-Mac's eyes widened and became teary. He rushed up and hugged Rem, squeezing the air out of him.-

"You're Alive! I knew it! I knew it all along!"

-Reynolds tossed a small pebble at Mac.-

"Get a room you two."

-He then stood up and walked over to pick up one of the weapons.-

"Why didn't you guys kill us anyway?"

Vega was looking over his options.

Option One: Suicide.

Option Two: Fight

Option Three: Run.

They each had their own benifits. Which meant that they also had their downsides.

If he commited suicide...he'd be dead. If he fought, there may be some chance that the rest of his navy may be able to arrive on time. And if he ran..The options were beginning to seem like the only ones he could use. It had been so many years that he had been in a situation like this.

The answer came to him before he thought of it long enough. Fight. He was going to fight his way out of this. Hopefully the expected fleet would arrive soon. They were still two thousand miles away when he had left the ports of Los Mexico to get here. If Los Mexico was twelve hundred miles away...and there had been a few weeks after he got here...they should only be one hundred and twenty miles away. He could spare that time.

"Sir, What are we going to do?"

Vega answered the question without thinking or without hesitation.

"Fight."

Bret and his men watched on impassively, shouldering weapons and maintaining an unnerving silence. Finally Bret stepped forwards, and through his mask spoke, "We did not kill you, because we are under orders to Escort you to a secure location until we can figure out what the hell is going on." Bret unslung his rifle again and started giving orders in a strange and unsettling language, his men began to move into formation covering the entrance onto the beach.

The Submarine squadrons finally received orders from the Taydrmuntc High Command, with a single message spread amongst the fleet they locked on targets, and once again the scream of death filled their torpedo tubes, as the deadly payloads shot out towards the remnants of the Dephire fleet, this time, there would be no survivors.

At the same time as the Submarines opened fire on the fleet, a message was sent in an unencrypted form towards the location of the Dephire ground forces:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

To: Dephire Invaders
From: Taydrmuntc High Command
RE: <none>

We have opened fire on the last of your pitiful fleet, they shall be dead within the hour. However we wish to open with you the possibility, that your troops already on the ground find safe haven amongst our forces. Together we can push back these Scum, and take the land for ourselves. You of course will be limited to the ground forces we allow you to keep, but in exchange for this, we offer you the Nordland region of Danteri. This area is of no real importance to us, and as such have no need for it. We await your reply.

From: Vegan Forces (Formerly the Dephirian Royal Naval Fleet)
RE:<none>

We would like to extend an alliance, however..there is one bit of concern that I must address. There are currently five thousand ships on-route to the current location of this occupied area. They have not been informed about our "defiance" towards Dephire. May I insist that you shall allow them to send their Amphibious ships, for reinforcement purposes only I assure you. Then I will single handedly send the fleet elsewhere for "rendevous" missions. I hear that a nation by the name of Sochatopia is a likely candidate of a few ICBM's.
Thank you.

-Reynolds nodded.-

"Do you mind if we first bandage up our wounds? I mean...I don't want to just bleed to death. Also, I can inform you along the way. Personally, I am kinda glad your here."

-Mac, still arrogant to the end, was thinking of himself-

"I'm starving!"

-Rem gave him a friendly punch.-

"Always thinking about yourself, huh Cheese?"

-=Spoiler Alert=-

Just a bit of information about my characters.

Vega is an arrogant betrayer of Alexander. During the Civil War, he secretly funded the Rebellion and was ticked about the Loyalists winning. He is always hostile, but will help any one who helps him.

Rem, Reynolds, and Cheese (Mac) are just three guys that are loyal to Alexander. I figured I might make them seem like the best of pals, and they kinda brighten the mood. They will be the ones who will try to bring some laughter.

Alexander, though random at times, is a young man that became the ruler of Dephire not by choice, but by inheritance when his father was murdered by one of the Rebellious Factions. He has many loyal followers (Vega is an exclusion) and will do anything to help support the Cause. Alex is a neutral kinda guy, and also likes to try to keep things secretive. Stealth being his element.

At the conference in 23Eris, the colonel and the 23Erisian government had just been informed about the terrorist attack in Saint Rynald. The colonel immediatly had a question for the chancellor, though - it was:
"Well, normal Undershi counter-terror doctrine is to shoot any hostages first, since they are worthless if they let themselves be taken, but we're not going to be doing that in this situation. You 23Erisians probably have a lot more experience with negotiations than we do - in addition to the Observer units you'll be sending to The Aesonic Islands, would you like to send a counter-terror advisor unit to Saint Rynald?" he leaned forward, waiting for her reply...

ooc: Me Li, how have you managed to build that? this conflict is taking place in a semi modern setting, none of us have the technology to build that kinda thing at this point in our nations historys. Id check with Danteri, but I dont think you can use that. And Undershi, i dont think itll be a problem taking those lands, but half of them are now under the command of Soloriel/23Eris and the other half is held by Dephire, theres only a small strip inbetween the two groups, and one between Dephire and the Betrayers, your best bet is attempting to invade one of the less well protected areas, like the Harakian safe zones, or the Me Li peninsula, or even Stronghold itself. Pretty much any area you choose you can attempt to invade, but i dont think theres much land left to take without treading on someones toes.

Bret nodded at one of the black armoured figures, and it hurried over to the men, checking out their wounds. It removed its mask and helmet, revealing a stunning woman, with long black hair, her eyes were ice blue, and were hard as diamonds. She reached into her pack, and pulled out an emergency first aid pack, and without saying word, began to dress the wounds. The rest of the unit stayed silent whilst this occured, until the sound of voices began to carry over the cliff walls. Someone was approaching. Bret and the rest of the unit began dumping the bodys of the guards on the patrol boat, working feverishly to get it back in the water. As soon as it was afloat, they kicked the engine into life and let it roar away down the coastline, hoping to draw attention away from the beach. The female medic hadnt moved through all of this, and as she dressed the last of the mens wounds she packed away her kit and pulled her mask back on, replacing the helmet over the top. "Gentlemen lets move, or the next time ill put a bullet in two of your heads and bring the last one with us, willing or not. We have to move now, the patrol we killed will be noticed as missing soon, if they havent already, and we have to get out of this area to somewhere safer, if you can inform us as to what your doing here whilst we're moving i would appreciate that, and for your hungry friend over there we will provide food back at our base camp, but I recommend that we move out now as fast as is possible under the circumstances." Bret raised his gun slightly, not quite high enough to threaten, but not pointing at the floor indicating a non-threatening stance.

RE: <none>

We acknowledge your request and will allow exactly 12,000 men and 500 armoured vehicles to land in your zone unharrassed. In return we will furnish your troops with food and supplies until you are ready to proceed in the manner in which you think best to topple Nordland. Currently our entire submarine forces have been deployed along the coastline, and forming a Deadzone at your landing points. Should you attempt to bring more than the pre-designated number of men or tanks onto the mainland we will instigate an instant kill order on the ships, as well as the ground forces in your zone. We hope that this course of action can be avoided, and as such welcome you to Danteri, may your battles be bloody, and your victorys merciless.

The CEF commandos were barely able to avoid detection as numerous patrols made their way through the hills around their hiding place. It seems that the defenses aren't the only military-grade part of the bandits operation...
As for the base itself, not much is going on there. They "hear" a few snatches of conversation, but none of it is really interesting, except for someone refering to the "Bandit King" with a feminine pronoun... apparently their leader is more like the "Bandit Queen"... the only question is, who in Danteri has that sort of clout, to hold together a bunch of bandits who, like most Danterians, don't consider women their equals?
As for the patrols operating around the hill area, they have continued to fall under attack by snipers using the tunnels, and have also encountered some mines (standard anti-personel and anti-tank, plus claymores and so on). Also, on one occasion, a bandit mortar unit must have managed to sneak into position, with the end result that they succeded in firing three mortar shells at a Haraki patrol before running.
Back at the camp, more preperations are under way for some operation or other...

Lillis smiled at the elderly Solorien, now a Colonel in her forces. "Thank you Colonel, I will try that, but somehow I do not think it will work for me. I am a worrier you see. My forces, the Danteri and others I protect, they are family, my children if you will. If I do not worry over the decisions I make that affect them, if I don't agonize over decisions that might leave hundreds, thousands, even millions of them dead, them who will bother to do so?" Lillis tucked the map the Colonel had drawn out into her jacket and patted his arm lightly. "I do appreciate your advice Colonel, truely, but all I really need is a few hours of sleep and some fresh coffee."

The Chancellor smiled slightly, his face filling with warmth for a moment. "Ahhh General, you remind me of our most Beloved Emperor, in his more contemplative moods. He shouldered the burden for every man lost, every family broken, since he first ascended to the throne. The Holy Wall that surrounds Khulith Verran, is inscribed with the names of every man and woman that has died in his service. On the great day of contemplation he walks the length of the wall, studying every name, so that he never forgets the sacrifices his people have made for him." The Chancellor shook his head sadly as he finished speaking, a look of sorrow filling his face. "I fear General that I will not live to see my Beloved Lords face again before this conflict is resolved. I wish only to sit at his right hand once more, and share with him the knowledges and advice that I now share with you."

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

James stared out of the forward viewport, his face riveted with attention. The bridge of the Warlock was silent, every man and woman here knew his duty, and attended to it swiftly without the need for frivolous chatter. As the first of the two Submarines slid into view, cutting across them at an angle he raised his hand, the Gunnery Commander hovered over the button that would launch the deadly payload that they had primed in anticipation of this threat. And as the vessel pulled fully into view James sliced his hand through the air, and with a slight jolt the massive warheads slid free of the tubes and worked their way through the water. There was little to see for a moment, just the twin tails of oxygen bubbles as the two high yield torpedoes silently approached their target.

The enemy sub saw them on its radar too little too late, and as they impacted with the forward and aft torpedo and engine bays the sub tore itself apart like a sheet of paper, the sea filled with the sound of the explosion and the screaming grinding noise as her armour tore itself apart. The bridge crew became slightly elated at this and they hurried through to target the next enemy. As it came into view James realised he had been fooled. The vessel in front of him was one of the heavy Submarine hunter/killer vessels of the Empire, and it had just launched torpedoes towards their position.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Massive War-Machine stood behind the cover afforded it by the massive trees, just behind the front lines of Danteri. The orders that had been given to the troops were clear, they were to engage the enemy and claim as much land as they could in the name of the Emperor, so that they could break through to South Haven. On the Opposite side of No Mans land the trenches were filled with thousands of Taydrmuntc Infantry and Stormtroopers, tanks and artillery. The sky was filled with snow, and it threatened to get worse imminently. The Loyalist forces were in full winter gear as they formed up into regimental formation. And the Giant War-Machine began its slow and steady advance towards the front.

The Taydrmuntc warriors had noticed the build up of troops, but they still estimated that the pathetic pawns of the false Emperor did not have the firepower to breach this line, and then through the howling winds and snow, the massive shape appeared. It took a few moments for the commanders to realise that a new weapon had been introduced into the war, and by then it was too late. A massive cannon shell exploded amongst the enemyforces, quickly followed by two more, and then they began to range further out, slamming with deadly precision into the artillery and armoured divisions. As the ground troops scrambled to make sense of this new threat two more shells exploded into the heart of the defenses, propelled at an immense speed and filled with the advance Napalm Mix that the I.C.C had developed. It burnt ferociously and burnt fast, boiling Betrayer Stormtroopers alive in their armour, and turning most of the lighter armoured infantrymen to charbroiled husks in minutes.

As the Groundforces charged forwards to deal with this most deadly of threats, they were torn apart as the heavy 32mm depleted uranium anti armour rounds tore through their bodys in swathes, and within twenty minutes it was all but complete. The new weapon of the I.C.C had proven its worth, as Solorien Troops secured the land and fortified it against any possible counter attack, whilst the War Machine continued to wreak its hellish vengeance on anything that it considered a threat.

The few Taydrmuntc that had survived were rounded up en masse, and hasty scaffolds were constructed out of whatever the Loyalists could find. And they were Hung.

-The trio didn't waste time, they grabbed the provided weaponary.-

"That'll fit just fine. Lead the way."

-Reynolds was smiling while holding the battle rifle.-

"You will have to inform me on this little thing here. I am not very familiar with this type of weaponary."

"Twelve thousand soldiers along with five hundred armoured vehicles? I guess that can work out."

-A radio signal broke the silence.-

"This is Flagship Defiance of the Dephirian Royal Naval Fleet. We heard a distress signal. What is your status Admiral Vega?"

-Vega looked at the former sailors around him. Over the past two weeks of grueling fighting...he was proud to call them true soldiers. He picked up the radio and responed.-

"We can use twelve thousand soldiers, two hundred and fifty tanks, a few APC's, about fifty humvees, and some artillery pieces."

-Admiral Jane listened to the odd order. Confused, she picked up her communications radio to confirm.-

"Admiral, are you in that serious need of help?"

-Vega had to think of something quick. Jane wasn't stupid.-

"I was sent here to create a foothold, right? Well that's what I'm doing. Send me my order so that I can establish my foothold!"

-Jane still wasn't sure, but she gave her women the orders. Soon enough, several hundred amphibious transports with the exact given amount departed the ships.-

"Anything else Vega?"

-Her counterpart thought for a moment.-

"Give me a minute."

-He motioned for one of the men to send a quick message to his new Allies.-

Message From: Vegan Forces
Message To: Soloriel Betrayal Faction

I have one question. May I bring in some defenses for a base? Currently amongst the ships of the naval fleet are some weaponary that may seem absolutely stunning to one as yourselves. During the past wars, Dephire has perfected what we like to call the "Stonehenge Weaponary Defense Cannon Network System". (SWDCN for Short). The unique cannons within the system are considered the twentieth wonder of the world. These super-powerful rail guns have extreme furocity and might even within one. Hell, the powerful burst caused by the cannon can spread for several miles in diameter. The range of such cannons is several hundred miles, thus giving you the Ace of Spades up your sleeve in artillery barrages. If you allow me, I can have twenty cannons at the ready and I will give you ten of them. Along with ammunition of course. Let this be a small sliver of my contribution to the cause. Only thing is that we need a very strong crane...they weigh well into twenty tons...and that's just the barrel! The whole cannon piece is about the size of a small frigate!

Thank you,

Supreme Commander of the Vegan Forces

She smilled weakly for the camera as they finally allowed a Neue Neue Deutsch news team to go into her room. She was off the Critical list, and while she was not yet fully recovered, she was no longer in danger of dieing. It was, all in all, a good day for Neue Neue Deutschland, as they had also jus begun the training of their new Army - all three Battalions of it.
Some of the senior officers in Danteri are being recalled, but most of the troops are staying behind. Oberstleutnant Rhurlunder was to have taken over as the commander of these New Battalions, and while she will be unable to due to her injury, at least initially, with the advanced care available to her in that Haraki facility, she should soon make a recovery, and be able to assume command of her units soon enough.

Thank you.

The colonel shrugged sheepishly and replied:
"Yeah, it is pretty stupid, which is why we aren't doing it now. I just wish they were going to do the normal Undershi counter-terror response for a suicide bombing that claims one of our True Undershis - for each cassualty inflicted, they would take 100 locals and crucify them. Of course, they aren't going to do that... we don't really know what to do - all of our doctrines in counter-terror are based on massive reprisals and simple brutality. Being "nice" is rough..."

The 58th Division's soldiers were being as careful as possible. With Hinckley's orders not to actually explore to look for the bandits but rather to provide a distraction, they did quite well. Keeping to their armoured vehicles and avoiding any potential ambush sites kept most of them alive. There were a few fatalities, and a few more wounded, but it could have been a lot more, and it could have been a lot worse.

Now they were beign used in conjunction with elements from the 4th Mountain Division and the 2nd Armoured for a counterstrike to the bandits. Hinckley was in on Neil's briefings about the CEF commandoes' locations and discoveries, and he knew the bandits were moving out. Since they had discovered the bandit base, the 2nd Armoured had been suiting up for an assault. They would take the road that went nearest to the bandit base before setting out towards it as quickly as possible, in tanks, APCs, and trucks, in order to reach it as the bombing runs finished as well as having self-propelled artillery in place. This was the trickiest part of the timing. The commandoes and satellites would track the moving bandits, all the while relaying their situation back to Hinckley and Neil, who would get the 58th and the 4th Mountain in position for an ambush. They would have to ascertain the bandits' intended target before making any strikes, so as not to alert either part of the bandits as to their intentions. Once they were sure of the bandits' target, though, simultaneously (in theory) the air force would begin carpet bombing the bandit base, the CEF would strike any communications relayers so as to prevent communication between the two bandit forces, and the 58th Infantry and 4th Mountain divisions would move in to attack the raiding force. Following the carpet bombing, the 2nd Armoured would move in and attack the bandit base, spearheading their assault with heavy armour followed up by medium tanks and APCs with infantry.

Simon Randalph, formerly an Admiral of the Undershi navy, stepped down from the boarding ramp of the plane, and onto the soil of the Haraki zone of Danteri. Having heard recently about the Undershi expansion in Danteri, where they had occupied the old McPsychoville zone, he had felt the need to get to the Haraki as quickly as possible.
Now... now he was here, facing the Haraki... he suddenly felt like an outsider - his only clothing had been his uniforms, so he was right now wearing his Fleet dress uniform, with all the insignia and rank pins removed to be sure, but still... he wondered if it had been a good idea to go the formal route - he had taken all of his medals with him, and so looked a bit ridiculous - he looked, to be honest, like some sort of mad military dictator, covered in self-awarded medals, who ought to be ranting about Western Imperialism, or whatever it was that half-mad dictators ranted about these days.
Sighing in despair, he adjusted his collar, then made his way down to speak with who ever the Haraki had sent to greet him. He just hoped that he created the impression he had been trying to create, that of an experienced military officer turned defector, rather than that ridiculous image he rather feared was what he would seem...

Lillis smiled tiredly, "I think you do me too great of an honor by comparing me to your emperor. And Colonel, I believe you will be welcome back to your emperor's side before long, and be given a hero's welcome at that."

She patted the scroll he had given her and added, "Thank you again. I will look these over and send out the appropriate orders to our forces here in Southhaven. Then, I am going to get some sleep. I expect to see you up and about tomorrow Colonel, Goddess knows I can use some help around here."

Elsewhere in Southhaven

Alexander Roros hung up the telephone, concerned. These Soloriel troops, they were an unknown factor. They could screw up domination of ths province by his backers. If the Soloriel took away some of the glory of the Erisians, the people might not vote for unification at the end of the years timelimit. Something had to be done. Reluctantly, he picked up the phone and made a phone call to one of his agents.

"And that is just a taste of the reported abuses by the Solorien troops! And, and we can see that they are divided! How can we trust them when they can not even trust one another? I say we demand the Erisisans expel these Solorien bastards and their vile emperor! We did not fight and die to be forced into some strange theocratic monarchy!" the speaker said, finishing at a shout. The parliament, at least the faction loyal to Roros which controlled the majority erupted applause.

Less than an hour later, the Southhaven Parliament drafted an article which passed 113-53 demanding that the Soloriel forces withdraw from Southhaven.

Re: Meeting

Before we consider attending any meeting of all faction leaders, we demand to know the purpose and content of such a meeting.

We also question the reasoning for entering territory under Erisian control without first seeking permission to do so. Any further violations of our territory will be seen as hostile actions and will be dealt with as such. While we wish to maintain good relations with all factions in Danteri, we do not take kindly to blatant un-announced and unapproved violations of our airspace, waters, or land.

Improvements in their economic situation, greater freedoms for their populace, improvements in standard of living, these things will make a populace grow to love you and not see you as an oppressor. You should study our approach in Danteri. Our first goal was to aid the populace, and we made great improvements in all the above areas, especially in the area of women's rights. Recently, the local government in Danteri petitioned us to accept Southhaven as a province of 23Eris. Naturally we set conditions such as a year wait and a full referendum. Our hope is that they reconsider and prefer to reuinify Danteri, but if they wish to join with us, we can not turn them away." The Foreign Minister told the Colonel.

Hauptmann Gudrun Neuemann watched the first of the converted freighters land the new 1st Battalion on Danteri. The 2nd and 3rd battalions were landing to the north and south, respectively, and it all seemed to be going so well - soon there would be 3,500 NND soldiers landed, to reinforce the 400 NND and 250 local soldiers. The NNDEF was about to grow drastically in importance.
Converted Viper IFVs, taken from the retreating Undershis, were being used to protect the landing zones from any threats - the NND Army had learned the hard way that a military force could oh-so-easily be crippled if it was hit before it was fully deployed.
Currently, most of the most senior command positions of this new force were unfilled, but soon enough the Hauptmanns of the original NNDEF would become Oberstleutnants, and, Oberstleutnant Luisa Rhurlunder, she would be promoted again, so that she would command the entire expeditionary force with the rank of Oberst - Colonel.
It was a fine day for Neue Neue Deutschland, she thought, as the landing craft carried fresh soldiers, just out of basic training, to the shores of Danteri, where they were about to learn lessons that no training course, especially no training course taught by Politzei men who had never held a more dangerous weapon than a police shotgun, could ever be.
Still, with the help of their Haraki allies, they would soon be able to hold their own, or at least she hoped they would.

- 3,000 fresh Neue Neue Deutsch soldiers have landed. These soldiers have good quality equippment, but Neue Neue Deutschland had no cadre troops - all of the sergeants are ex-politzei officers, but other than that, none of them have handled weapons that much until they began basic - and even then, they were basically being taught how to fight by Politzei men who were basically teaching out of manuals - these soldiers aren't really that well trained.

Re: Meeting/Actions.

Dear Faction Leaders,

It is with shame that I must inform you of a betrayal within one of the highest ranks of the Dephire Governments. My own naval officer, Admiral Vega, has declared his navy separate from the military and other such Dephirian Government. He has therefore declared war not only upon Dephire, but Any factions here in Danteri that do not fight for his cause. This was my main reason to call for an emergency meeting. Also, I could not land anywhere except for where I did for if I landed elsewhere, then my men and I would of died.

I was also going to open up a new trade route with any factions whom need supplies. Dephire is a nation with vast amounts of unused resources. Rubber being one of them.

In conclusion to the above. I regret to inform you that the Separist Vegan Forces are NOT, I repeat, are not under my command. You have my permission to use any means necessary to destroy and eliminate their threat.

"You know Cheese that they wouldn't of let us live if we held vital information."

-Reynolds stood up and brushed the dirt off his bottom.-

"Yeah. The fact that we are part of Delta Squadron which is a group located due north of the northernmost Danteri Faction? We serve Alexander directly, and that we have no information about the Vegan Forces other than the fact that they are against us?"

-Mac stood up as well.-

"No. The fact that we know how to fly a large array of aircraft should be vital enough."

-Rem shook his head.-

"Cheese. I'm sorry, but I'm leaning towards what he said. We are here to tell these people who we are loyal to and why we were flying in their airspace."

-Reynolds sat down on the bunk bed.-

"No..if it was their airspace...we would of been killed. I have an idea that these are actually not the same people that shot us down. Or..well...I hope that is the case."

-Mac walked over to the door and pounded on it.-

"Hey! Are you guys gonna kill us or what?!"

-Reynolds and Rem laughed. Mac turned around and sat down in a chair.-

"What else was I supposed to do? We've been sitting in here for hours. They could of at least given us some cards or a board game...or...well...some magazines or something!"

With a shuddering jerk the six forward tubes fired in sequence and the torpedo sped away towards the enemy submarine. The Warlock increased speed and pulled away toward Soloriel as a deafening boom filled the ocean, on Sonar the enemy was destroyed. The crew breathed a sigh of relief as they continued towards Soloriel, now only hours away.

The Chancellor smiled and nodded at the General, his head slipping slightly as he felt sleep catch up with him once again. The War Machine trod on mercilessly, its guns spitting out red hot death. Troops fell in droves before its advance and tanks and aircraft were swatted away like bugs. From the time of its deployment to this point in time, it had cleared a pathway almost all the way down toward the South Haven lines. As its pilot prepared herself for the next attack the War Machines guns span up and launched another stream of ammunition into the enemy troops on her radar.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Betrayer Forces were torn in two, they had deployed forces to defend their northern border, but with the attack from the east they had no choice but to pull away from the South Haven line and defend against this new attack. Within hours they had managed to pull into an extremely tight defensive knot, which would allow them to repulse any enemy attacks. now all they could do was wait, for the final push into South Haven.

"Vega, sir. Our allies have responded with open arms."

-Vega calmed down. He was glad to have made peace.-

"Send them our gifts of ten Dominator-Class cannons with some of our technicians and engineers so that they know how to use the equipment. Also, we need to get moving to the east. Set up a televised message to our new friends. I want to rouse them for support."

-A few clicks later, a camera zoomed in to produce a facial of the Admiral's face. His face was one to remember. A scar went down from his right temple down to his upper right lip in a crescent. His hair was jet black and slick. It was also combed to make him appear to be younger, though he was really nearing middle age. His uniform was pressed neatly. The colours were black dominant with red stripes. Giving him a menacing look.-

OOC: For better reference, try looking at the uniforms of NOD. NOD is a terrorist organization in Command & Conquer Tiberium Sun.

-Vega looked straight into the camera and cleared his throat. When he spoke, he spoke like he was meant to be heard.-

"Dear Soloriel Allied Forces. I am Admiral Vega, leader of your newest allies. Our business in the past is what it shall be left at, in the past. Now we shall look forward to a bright future. Currently, I am sending you a fine gift. Ten Dominator-Class rail cannons capable of destruction on a semi-massive scale. Though they are crude when firing, these cannons are extremely well at what they were created for...Dominating. These cannons have a range of almost two hundred miles, short I know, but this is well overcome with their next statistic. They can destroy anything within a two mile blast radius. The shells of this cannon are capable of bursting, which contributes to their blast radius.

"Now for a different item on the list. Though we have aimed our weapons away from eachother, there is a force drawing ever closer to our destruction. This force is to the east. We ask to be able to use whatever aircraft that I have under my command to be used to go and meet that enemy!"

-The televised speech ended. Vega sat down in the chair at his desk. He knew not where the fleet had gone. All he was waiting for was a reply. After that, then he will do what he came here for and invade the lands to the east.-

__________________________________________________________________________________________

-Mac paced inside the tent. As did the other two pilots. They wondered where the other members of Delta Squadron were at. They even wondered when they can give their captors the information that they so desperately needed.-

The Betrayer forces welcomed these new weapons with open arms, accepting the help required to install them, they dispatched messengers to their new allies, with clear cut instructions as to the deployment of aircraft and other armed forces, so as to prevent the accidental intrusion of either sides forces in an area that could be considered 'Private'. Along with these letters was a sealed envelope granting these Allies permission to fly within their own airspace, and permission to conduct their war in whatever way was considered best for the securement of Nordland, one final note in the letter stated that the High Command wanted the leaders of the Erisian and Imperial forces rounded up and brought to them unharmed.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bret and his men lead the captives the final few hours, through a gruelling march, over a blasted waste land, devoid of any form of life, save the blasted and scraggly trees that dotted the landscape, until finally they came upon a military installation of sme sort, hidden deep within what could be considered woodland. The chain link was torn like paper, the main gate lay under a covering of thick ice and snow, the main buildings blasted apart with large chunks missing from many of them. It was evident that it was long abandoned and safe from prying eyes.

Bret pushed the three captives towards one of the blasted buildings and as they all entered the building Bret reached for a tattered piece of tarpaulin that waved gently as the winds found it. As he pulled it back he unveiled a large rounded door with a keypad built into it, reaching down he tapped in a 16 digit number and the whole thing beeped and unlocked with a loud thunking noise. Bret swung the door open and away, before gesturing for them all to enter, as the men made their way inside he resealed the tarpaulin against the door and jumped down after them pulling the vaulted door shut, and immersing them in darkness.

The unit stayed silent for a moment and then there was a deep thrumming noise and the lights above flickered on, Bret and his men lead the way along the corridor that was revealed in the light, towards another door thicker than the last, tapping in another key code the door gently rolled out of the way and revealed an elevator, stepping onboard they closed the gate and the main door, before making the journey down into the depths. After almost five minutes they finally reached the lower levels, once again they pulled the gate open and tapped in the keycode for the thick blast doors, as they slid to one side they moved into the corridor, surrounding them was what looked like a command center of some kind, massive glass screens were on the walls, lit up with tactical maps, and readouts in some strange language the three airmen were unlikely to have ever seen.

The room was filled with people working quietly and diligently over workstations set out in a semi-circle shape around the center of the room where a huge computer was hooked up, monitor banks surrounding it. Bret pushed the three men into a side room, and stripped them of the weapons they had been given, before throwing three all in one suits at them, dyed black. As he stepped away he locked the door before heading to the barracks in this tiny and secret installation.

Captain Wu shook his head at the antics of these Air Force personnel. They were as bad as his own Troopers. The Melii had sedated the guests and preformed the standard medical patchup. After the pilots were detanked they were allowed to do as they wanted.

Sensors in the plain white and completely unadorned holding cell fed into the Computers... Analysts studied the reactions to various subtle stimili and their reactions to each other. These pilots were realitively well conditioned to ignore changes in temperature, pressure, and ambient lighting. The passive sensors imbedded in their clothing recorded very little changes to most of the softer stimuli.

The Reports from Gwen's patrol had seemed to indicate that they had at least some understanding of basic commands. They were obviously cross-trained... it raised some interesting questions. The data moles had searched the NS public records and made several interesting notes...

After nearly a week recuperations and a day of isolation, the High Command had decided that they had enough time to have fully healed and it was now to gather more direct information. Wu pressed a panel and watched the screen as an electrical arc shocked the one called sir. The violet bolt caught him in the leg. With a startled yelp, he cursed and leaped clear of the wall.

The Light in the room shifted from midnight to full noon. As the prisoners---the Guests' eyes readjusted to the brightness, the Companions entered the room.

"Good afternoon. You have slept well?"
Gwendolyn said, effusing a bright sunlight smile.

She looked a bit different than the grubby commander they had met previously... Time had become a hazy concept to the prisoners, for the Melii continually alternated the night and day cycles. They were not certain that this was the one that had '"escued" them. The Companion had changed into more formal robes of green edged in silver. Her Dark hair was held by a pair of silver sticks and framed a pale oval face. It was the eyes that drew their attention... they were of the strangest green that the Dephire had ever seen. The Burly security agents that accompanied her encouraged the best of manners...

We had no idea the intentions of Admiral Vega, or that he would do such a thing. My experiences date back to the Dephirian Civil war of Twenty-Twenty-Two AD. After that, I was requested for some personal training amongst some of the most elite soldiers in the world. Who they are, I can never tell. What I can tell you is that there are mad men running around and I want to help eliminate their potential threat. By the way, have you seen the remaining members of our Squadron? They go by the callsigns of Rem, Mac, and Reynolds. Ah well..."

-He sat down, a bit uneased. After his long introduction, the other two pilots had the courage to speak up. The one that jumped began to speak.-

"My name and rank is Captain John Reynolds. Callsign Frost. The other Reynolds that Ben mentioned would be my older brother. My intentions are the same. I know that it was foolish for us to be flying so low inside restricted airspace, we were only trying to get in range of the fleet's radio to ask why the hell they were firing upon Soloriel. Especially when Alexander gave Vega strict orders not to."

-He paused for a moment, trying hard to keep emotions from breaking out.-

"The invasion of Nordtun is new to us. We swear, and if you can only give us a chance, we will take it personally to fight him."

-The last to speak was the bigger of the two. His physique was more of a body builder than that of a pilot, but Captain Yuri Staling was one of the best in Delta Squadron. He spoke with a unique Russian accent, hoarse, but understandable.-

"I am Captain Yuri. Twenty years of service. As my fellow pilots, I am an Ace of Aces. My expertise lies with brute force. As is a custom among Russian pilots. My intentions are the same as my comrades. Use us at your will, for if you did kill us...that would be a mistake."

-He crossed his arms.-

"I wish to see the reunification of Danteri, and possibly trade routes. These too are Alexander's wish."

-He stopped speaking and listened to whatever his captives had to say.-

The bandits are moving out through the tunnels, aparently intent on launching their attacks against the Haraki forces. If nothing is done, they will attack in a matter of hours... of course, Haraki already has its plans in place, so they have only to order them executed...

OOC: No problem. I used some crazy European keyboard for the longest time. Eventually got used to it and now I love it, but it was confusing as hell for a while.

The ambush was all set up. Much of the 2nd Armoured, on a 'routine redeployment', had been sent as close to the bandit camp as they could get on roads, and had now stopped. The CEF watched for communications devices they could destroy in the mobile force, and the 58th and 4th Mountain ambush was set. Planes were now in the air and on their way to the bandit base with massive payloads of bombs, fighter-bombers paving the way with long-range missiles to remove any anti-aircraft emplacements.

When the bandits emerged from the tunnels, the following would happen: The CEF would strike their communications relays (Anything outside the main force) and the 2nd Armoured would leave the road, driving full pace towards the bandit camp. Only minutes later, as the raiders moved away from the tunnels, the 58th Infantry and 4th Mountain divisions would descend on them from both sides, using prelaid traps, superior firepower, terrain and better positioning to destroy the raider force. The bombers would begin their mass bombing, attempting to target mostly military targets - bunkers, dugouts, etc. - rather than living quarters. Not only did they not want to kill any noncombatants, but they wanted to find out who was behind this. A little while after they had finished, the 2nd Armoured would arrive and assault the base, spearheading their attack with heavy armour, followed by medium armour and infantry in APCs. Their self-propelled artillery detachment would be deployed a short way away, ready to provide support.

OOC: Antigr, the civil war you read about on the first page is now over. A number of foreign powers have now staked out their claims in Danteri and are fighting a bizarre series of conflicts with each other and various native Danterian factions. To be blunt, there is no more 'government' for you to support. Or, rather, there are half a dozen foreign governments that occupy Danteri.

Southhaven, Danteri

Erisian spy satellites reported the construction of the massive guns supplied by the Vegan Depherians to the Betrayers (OOC: Boy is this ever getting convoluted). Strike aircraft were being fueled on the runways in Southhaven for a pre-emptive strike against those guns. If they were completed, the Betrayer faction could potentially ravage all of Southhaven as well as Freiburg and the Haraki zone.

The pilots and aircraft were put on standby, only awaiting the order from General Lillis.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
23Eris HQ, Southhaven

Lillis read the report with concern, if it were true they had to act against those guns, now. So far Erisian troops had played only a minor role in the conflict with the Betrayers and the Betrayer faction hadn't attacked Southhaven. If she ordered the strikes that might change, and all the civilians under her care could be put in jeopardy, but what was the price for failure to act? The Betrayers were obviously hostile to her nation as the Erisians supported the loyalists. With those guns they could destroy everything her people had worked to build in Danteri, a stable government, a revived economy, and some sense of security for these people.

With a heavy heart, she lifted the phone and placed the call. "Initiate Operation Original Snub"

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
The planes streaked into the sky over Southhaven, then quickly dropped to hug the terrain. One squadron would fly over land to approach directly from Southhaven, while two others would head out over the sea, one to the west and the other from the east. Each would converge on the reported locations of the guns and drop their heavy munitions, hoping to utterly destroy or at least delay their construction.

Overhead, within Southhaven, two squadrons of Erisian air superiority fighters flew patrol patterns, preparing to intercept any Betrayer planes launched should the strike craft be detected.

OOC: Antigr- I don't think its that simple (good/bad). We have a bunch of nations here that don't trust one another, some good, some bad, some indifferent. Your best bet is to read some of what is going on and see about trying to support a nation you find agreeable.

The bandits paniced as soon as the first bombs started falling on their positions. Most of the anti-aircraft weaponry was destroyed fairly quickly, and anyways, most of it was just flak guns - however, bandits in the hills around the positions were waiting to fire shoulder-launched SAMs at any air craft foolish enough to come in low.
Out with the mobile force, their "communication network" consisted of squad-level back-pack radios, and so was too dispersed to be easily taken out. Most of the mobile bandits just scattered when they were attacked, and were able to use the tunnels to flee. However, some fought a rear-guard action - these guys were using heavier stuff than the usual bandits with their bolt-action rifles - these guys were using automatic rifles as their standard weapon, with plenty of RPGs and shoulder-launched AT or SA missiles to go around. The Eryx missile was the most common AT missile, apparently looted from Loyalist or Unified Danteri Government armouries after they had been purchased from United Earthlings.
Most of the really dangerous guys were sniers though - it looked like this bunch of bandits had some pretty experienced marksmen supporting their main efforts. In the end, 1,000 plus bandits were killed, with unknown Haraki cassualties, which are presumed to be heavier than expected, but still light.
The base resisted, although most of its defenses were destroyed by the aerial bombardment. and it fell with far less fighting than the expeditioary force had offered - still, some 500 Danterian bandits were killed, while 200 were taken prisoner at the base, along with 800 non-combatants (mostly women and children).
With the field force, 750 bandits were taken prisoner.
Unfortuanately, the "Bandit King" managed to escape.

ooc: aye i agree with 23Eris, your best bet right now is wait and see which faction sounds most agreeable to you, if you want to help the 'Good Guys' then go withthe 23Eris/Loyalist faction, or Haraki, if going with the 'Bad Guys' is more your thing ally yourself Dephire and the Betrayers. Ultimately the choice is yours, but just be aware that there isnt a lot of land left that hasnt been claimed by one nation or the other, so tread carefully where you land, or you might be considered and invasionary force...

The Warlocks journey had been long, and dangerous, but finally they pulled into the Holy port city of Vhera, under the scrutingy of the Imperial Guardsmen who protected this place she surfaced at last. her main surface doors were opened and the crew began to haul the salvage from the wreck onto the Docks, for immediate transport to the Holy City in the caravan that had been prepared weeks ago, in case they returned to the Empire alive. Onboard James wearily wiped the sweat from his forehead, in his hand he clutched a series of USB Flashdrives with the latest images from Danteri on them. He turned to Sara as he waited for the crew to get the main doors clear for them to disembark, "Well my Love we made it, free at last and into the arms of the Emperor, you are honoured indeed, you are the first foreigner in many centurys to be allowed into the heart of the Empire, let alone into the Holy Citadel itself. Some of the sights you may see Sara will be a shock to your eyes, but do not worry my Love, i will be right here beside you, should you need me for anything, and ass soon as is possible i shall get you some way of talking to your commander back in Danteri." Finally with a loud whirring noise the doors were cleared and the bright sunlight flashed inwards as the small freight elevator lifted them up and free of the Warlock and into the Empire of Soloriel.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Chancellor awoke from his rest and noted the time of the day almost mechanically from the length of the shadows in the room. Pushing himself up, he noted that he felt much better than he had the day before. And reaching for his staff he pulled himself out of bed and toward the window, he stared at the sun briefly smiling as he thought of his beautiful homeland once more.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

The War-Machine finished the last of the assault it had made, in the 32 hours since its deployment it had butchered thousands of Taydrmuntc forces, score of tanks and attack aircraft had been picked off one by one thanks to its advanced radars, and now it stood watch as the Imperial troops reinforced the immense corridor that ran from the Solorien held territorys to the north, all the way to the borders of Southaven. It huge gun sat idle, its ammunition almost depleted, and yet it still posessed a somewhat ominous feel to it. Almost as though it were watching and waiting...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Betrayer forces scrambled any available aircraft to intercept the incoming planes from Southaven, but their radars had not detected the ones coming in from the sea. The way was clear for the aircraft coming in from the west, for a clear run at the construction sites, this would likely be their only chance at a decent strike.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

The door into the room the three airmen were kept in slammed open and two heavily armed guards entered the room either side of the door as a man in a smart uniform followed them, before closing the door behind him. "Hello gentleman, I am Colonel Karl Ither commander of this base and the troops within it, now who might you be?"

The Skies Above Danteri

"Blue 2, break left!" screamed a voice over the Erisian comm channel. The betrayers had met the Erisian fighter/bombers with a number of interceptor aircraft, and had begun to engage. Blue 2 slammed the fighter's stick hard left just in time to se a missile streak past his wing. Goddess that had been close, he thought. Coming out of his roll, he lined up a Solorien aircraft, waited for the tone and fired a heat-seeking missile. He never had time to seeif it struck as he suddenly was forced to dive for the earth as cannon fire began to chew up his tail. During his dive he armed and then dropped his bombs on the betrayer forces below as did most of blue squadron, trying to lighten their weight for the dog-fight in which they found themselves.

"Blue Leader, you've got a pair on your tail!" Blue 2 shouted into his mike. Suddenly a pair of Su-27s bearing the markings of 23Eris swept in from above.

"Blue Squadron, this is Angel team, we're here to give you a hand."

"Thank the goddess!" sighed an unknown pilot. In the skies above, twenty three other planes from Angel Team moved in to aid the twenty five hard pressed fighters from Blue Squad.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gold and Green squadrons swept in undetected, the exhaust from the engines causing small wakes on the surface of the ocean. The nimble planes quicklyreached land and began to follow the rolling hills to their targets. As they neared, weapons were armed and the planes popped up seeking the locations to drop their weapons. As they found them, the planes fired their smart, high yield penetrator missiles and then swept in to drop their unguided, dumb bombs to try and finish the job.

The attack lasted less than two minutes in its entireity, then the planes dove for the surface, engaged their afterburners and headed back out to sea.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lillis, waiting for reports on the attack learned of the airborne engagement over the lines around Southhaven. Initial reports about the strike reported that only two of the strike aircraft were destroyed, while losses from the aeiral battle could not be reported as that engagement was still occuring.

Lillis' fingers drummed on her desk as she considered for a moment. She picked up her phone again and placed a call. "Begin Operation Schwerpunkt, Phase I only, standby on Phase II."

In less than ten minutes, over a hundred attack and strike helicopters lifted off from fields near the frontlines. These heavily armed choppers headed for the Betrayer lines seeking out first anti-air units, then moving on to attack armored units and fortifications.

Sara was thankful she had thought to wear her dress uniform. She didn't want the Soloriel's first impression of foreigners to be that they were shabby and poorly dressed. "Are you sure it is all right for me to be here James?" Sara asked, somewhat worried. "I don't want to be the cause of some major international incident, or put you into disfavor wih your emperor."

Sara took James' arm and waited for the elevator to open. "Don't worry about reaching my commanders James, my computer can link to your Solorien computer systems and use those to communicate with my commander." She informed him, motioning with the computer held in her other hand.

"Now lets go put a stop to those betrayer bastards."

-Three hundred fighter aircraft had left Dephire nearly three hours ago. Their heading was Danteri. They knew not if they were going to be permitted to join the fight, but they hoped that they would be accepted. Many of the pilots were well experienced after previous wars, but most were fresh and highly unskilled. The radio silence was broken by the squadron's leader, Black Knight One.-

"23Eris and Soloriel Loyalist forces. We ask you for permission to engage the Betrayal Forces. Please grant us this so that we are not mistaken for enemy aircraft."

-He motioned for the entire squadron to break right.-

-The Loyalist Fleet were just a few hundred miles off the southernmost shores of South Haven. They too sent a message.-

"This is Fleet Admiral Jane Wiskorski. Jane for short. We also would like to ask for permission to engage the enemy. Vega's forces are our common enemy, as are the Betrayal Faction. Vega has decieved us all by giving the Betrayal Faction secret Dephirian Technology, and thus both factions must be destroyed. This technology must not be activated, I repeat, Do not let them fire!"

-Jane was aboard her favorite of all ships, the Defiance. The Defiance was a Capital-Ranked Super Carrier. It even had built in anti-air/missle capability. Also, they had a few cannons aboard.-

"Oh yeah. We also have a few thousand or so troops willing to fight for your cause, 23Eris and Soloriel Loyalists."

"My full name and rank is Ace Captain John Reynolds of Delta Squadron, a privately owned and operated base loyal to Alexander. This is Captain Mac, callsign 'Cheese', and this is Captain Rem. We were here for observational purposes...or that was the case until our own fleet began to fire upon us!"

-Mac kicked the wall, and cursed. He walked up beside Reynolds to address the men.-

"We didn't mean any harm. Although, with our planes being shot down and no notification to our leader about us being alive may spark something. I know personally that Alexander does have a bit of a temper issue. You strike at him, he strikes back ten-fold."

-Rem was still pacing in the background.-

"So. What are you guys? Some sort of secret Loyalist Faction Covert Operation in the dead center of Betrayalist Territory or something?"

______________________________________________________________________________________________

"Alex. We need to get moving. Now!"

-Alexander was sitting in a small chair inside the leer jet.-

"We can take off as soon as I send this message."

The initial aircraft launched to engage the planes were hard pressed, they were using the antiquated MiG-29's that had been left on standby at the time of the initial withdrawal from the conflict, they screamed through the air exploding into flames as missiles tore into their ranks, and screamed messages for backup hurtled through the radio channels. 20 minutes after the initial engagement, almost a hundred aircraft, virtually half the southern air force, was deployed to intercept this perceived invasion threat. Already Betrayer ground forces were deploying rapidly towards the newly held passage between Nordland and Southaven, hundreds of ground vehicles and thousands of troops were deploying to the new hot zone, ready to fight back. With a vengeance.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

The elevator emerged into the sunlight, almost blinding in its brilliance after the darkness of the submarine. The view was amazing to a newcomer, the docks were clean and uncluttered ringed with beautiful gardens of trees and strange bushes with beautiful flowers sprouting forth in a multitude of colours. Imperial Guardsmen patrolled in groups of 4 throughout the facility and grounds with metal breastplates shining in the sunlight, strange rifles held over their shoulders. In the distance the city extended outwards in neatly ordered rows, the architecture was alien yet beautiful spiralling upwards in minarets and gently sloping roofs, painted in dark reds and blues. James smiled as his eye beheld his homeland once more, and he reached for Sara's hand, squeezing it gently. "Come Sara, the Emperor awaits us, we will be safe in these lands, the Emperors justice ensures that any who wear the colours of freedom will be guaranteed no harm until we arrive in his Citadel." James lead her down the steps and saluted the Guardsmen at the base of the gangplank. They snapped off a salute and stood to one side as they proceeded to the convoy that awaited them.

Inside the vehicles the salvage was safely trasported through the city to the outskirts of the wall, there the gates were opened and they proceeded along the Imperial Causeway, the Scenery surrounding them was beautiful, vast stretches of open plains and vast woodlands in the distance. Small farms dotted the landscape and to the North the enormous mountains known as Khulith Jarkell reared majestically against the skyline, and all along the coast the shining gold brick of the Great Wall ringed the Continent as far as the eye can see. The journey was a short one indeed, as they had been given priority along the main Imperial Causeway. As such other more Civilian vehicles were not in evidence. James gently sighed, his face creased with pleasure as his beautiful homeland swept by them.

Following the succesful Haraki anti-bandit operations, interogations of captured bandits have yielded valuable information - the "bandit king" was none other than Sara von Freiburg, and, it would seem, that these bandits are so well equipped because she was using the old Loyalist weapons caches, laid down for use in a guerilla war in the case that the government fell, to supply her men.
As for the caches, many of them are still unknown, but some have been positively identified - three caches, to be exact - one consisting of several hundred Eryx anti-tank missiles, most of which had already been looted, while the others consisted mainly of small arms and so on. All three sites are readily provided by captured bandits, and it would seem that more raids would be in order...

Dominator-Class Anti-Aircraft/Missile Rail Cannon:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

General Overview:

The DCAAMRC was originally designed for the destruction of any asteroids or space debris that could have fallen to Earth during the periods of 2024 AD and 2067 when a large meteor shower was predicted to strike Earth, this of course was proven false.

In later years, war sparked. The people of Dephire needed to find a weapon that would bring people to their knees. They needed something brutal, yet sophisticated enough to be nearly unbeatable. What they found were the capabilities of these cannons.

Some people have speculated that these cannons can shoot a fly from fourteen thousand miles away, along with anything else in five miles. This of course is not entirely true.

Armour Specifications;

These cannons were not only to be built to destroy, but built to withstand alot of brutal attacks.

Twenty inches of depleted uranium armour incase each gun. After the uranium armour is a shell of solid titanium. Four inches further goes straight to the solid carbon.

This gives it a semi-light design for higher manuverability in scenarios when things get hairy.

Size/Shape Specifications;

Any gun the size of a small frigate could scare anyone.

Barrel Length:
Approx. 300ft.

Barrel Width:
Approx. 20ft.

Caliber:
Approx. 1200mm (If this is too out of porportion, please help me adjust.)

Range:
20-3750 Miles (Ground to Ground)
2-4000 (Ground to Air) ((That's the With a fused shell))
1-5000 (Ground to Sea) ((The One mile is a minimum, Safety Reasons))

Firing Specifications/Statistics;

The DCAAMRC takes thirty seconds to lock onto a target, remarkable for it's size. It can also fire at an rate of five shells per minute. Slow, but given the shell's capabilities, it is effective none-the-less.

Safety Precautions;

Don't stand within a hundred feet without proper saftey gear on. (Trust us. You don't want to be deaf, do you?)

Shells;

Explodes-On-Impact Shell-
This is mostly used in Ground to Ground and Ground to Sea barrages. Damage ranges from fragmentation to vaporization. There is a Two mile fragmentation range, and a five hundred feet vaporization range.

Anti-Ship Shell-
This shell is basically the same as an Anti-Tank shell, in otherwords, it's soul purpose is to destroy Naval Ships.

Explodes-In-Air Shell-
Also known as an Anti-Air shell or a Flak shell. When the fuse detonates the charge, it sends a sonic boom powerful enough to rip apart any aircraft within a two hundred feet range of the blast. Any aircraft within two thousand feet outside that range is severly damaged.

Prices;

Dominator-Class Cannon: $ 1,050,000,000 (1.05 Billion U.S. Dollars)
StoneHenge-Class Cannon*: $ 200,000,000 (Two Hundred Million U.S. Dollars)

*The StoneHenge-Class Cannon is roughly one-fourth the size of the Dominator-Class Cannon. It was developed for the same purpose as the DC Cannon, but for smaller objects. The SHCC was the first cannon thought to be used in times of war, the DCC was then later thought of to be more potent, and was then used more often.

One DCC can replace Four SHCC's.

OOC: Sorry! Having network problems on my end, hence the absences.

BTW dephire, a depleted uranium armour shell would be at least low-level radioactive. (actually there was even some speculation about depleted uranium ammo causing low-level radiation poisoning after gulf war I, but no conclusive evidence either way). Personally though I think your rate of fire is too high, given that a projectile 1200mm in size would weigh more than the 1678.32 kg of the largest gun artillery gun in history (Little David - 914mm).

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Southhaven
Erisian pilots were fighting, and dying, valiantly. Their Su-27 fighters were better air superiority planes than the Mig-29s, and their pilots were well trained, but the betrayers had numbers, and were certainly skilled. After the initial wave over Southhaven, 28 Erisian fighters had been downed or destroyed with unknown Betrayer losses.

Despite the losses to their forces, the Erisian's kept up the pressure. A second wave of air superiority craft launched from their bases, seventy five planes in all, followed by another fifty SU-33's from the Kallisti just off the west coast escorting the Solorien capital ship.

No sooner had the Erisian choppers finished their run against betrayer ground forces than Erisian artillery began to drop. Shells and rockets were being poured across no-man's land to unknown effect, but it was clear that the Erisian forces meant business, and would support the Loyalist attack in the north with their own push from Southhaven.

The Ground forces pulled back slightly, they seemed to be stalling for time, they died in their hundreds and still they held their ground. Aircraft were launched in wave after wave, the betrayers were launching everything that was air-worthy and eventualy they had launched over three hundred aircraft from every airbase that could spare the craft towards the southern front.

Along the coast, the massive amounts of AA guns that had been placed there to prevent a Dephirian invasion were soon roaring into action, to prevent any craft from entering Via the sea. Underground mass amounts of the specialised APC's were drilling furiously towards the Erisian lines, determined to punch through them and open the way for the troops to begin the final invasion of Southaven.

The building sites still burned from the explosions and people screamed in agony from their wounds, the stench of blood filled the air and those who could dragged their comrades towards shelter, the massive guns that had been transferred to the Betrayers were in some places shattered and in pieces. However one gun remained intact, and with a glint of vengeance the engineers who were capable altered its firing path with a look of hatred in their eyes.

The Erisians were throwing everything they had into the battle for the skies. Their military doctrine dictated denying the enemy command of the air in order to protect the troops on the ground. Erisian JA fighter-bombers were rearmed with air to air missiles, and the Southhaven AirForce's F-16 were drafted into combat as well, bringing the total to just over 250 aircraft.

Thanks to the warnings of the former Chancellor, the Erisian defensive system in Southhaven also contained seismic monitors and geologic sonar to warn them of the any tunneling attack. With advance warning of an approach by tunnel units, the Erisian's began to prepare a response, activating the mobile reserve forces.

Satellite reconaissance indicated that one of the guns still remained active, and the Kallisti launched its 25 tactial bomber craft to target the weapon which, now that the Betrayer defenses were alerted, would be difficult at best to strike.

Erisian HQ, Southhaven

An aide, a young man with the rank of Lieutenant approached the former chancellor, now Colonel. "Sir, General Lillis requests your presence immediately in her war room, it looks like it is about to hit the fan sir."

The war room was part of the sub-structure of the 23Eris headquarters. It was hardened and was supposedly safe from even a small scale nuclear strike, which hopefully wouldn't be necessary. Lillis stood by the room looking down at a large flat smooth surfaced black table which contained a glowing map and digital readouts of the various Erisian/Solorien Loyalist forces and known Betrayer forces.

"Colonel, it looks like the betrayer forces are going to hit us, hard." Lillis told the man. "I could use your advice on how to deal with this. Our airforce is fighting it out with the betrayers, we've got an edge in equipment, but they've got numbers. If you have anything to throw into that scrap, we need it."

Her finger then japped at a point on the map near the Betrayer/Erisian border. "Also we've got reports from the sensors we installed thanks to your warning about betrayer tunneling movements. At the same time their surface forces seem to be withdrawing from our artillery strikes. What are they up to? Are they trying to goad us forward and try to pop up behind us or are they going to attack? I've already activated our armored reserve force and our close support air units are on standby."

Admiral Vega was concerned about the losses through the sky, and thus he made sure that a ground invasion was better. There was still some unoccupied territory to the east, at least for about twenty or so miles. Then they will encounter the Soloriel Loyalist/23Eris Joint forces. No need for worry, the Rail Cannons can reach them, while their artillery couldn't get anywhere close. Huge bursts of sound, much louder than that of thunder, echoed in the lands of Nordtun. Their target was to the east. Towards the Loyalist forces. The type of shell they were using was the Explode on Impact shell for six of the cannons, the rest were poised for anti-air. Several Gattling Cannons were set up around the cannons to deflect missles, and possible aircraft. Vega wasn't concerned about the Betrayal Forces to the South. They were his allies, and close friends. The enemy was to the East, and that shall be where he unleashes Hell. Several Apocalypse Tanks rolled up to form a line just a few hundred yards ahead of the cannons, and several thousand soldiers in trenches a few hundred yards ahead of those. The tanks were still moving up slowly to make the scene more dramatic.

"Vega, the preparations are complete. Shall we follow through with the attack?"

-Vega nodded. The Commander then turned to his speaker tower PA system.-

"All Rail Guns, commence firing. SCUD missle launchers, load a high-explosive warhead. You will recieve further orders soon."

-Six cannons fired.-

OOC: If you are unaware of the Dominator-Classed Rail Cannon System, please read the above. Soloriel, you are now able to use them as well. I would also like to ask you for some help in this invasion. That way, Vega has the North, you have the Center, and those puny lessers have the South.

The Harakian soldiers had sustained heavier losses than expected, but still not too badly. The 58th Infantry had lost nearly an entire platoon when it was caught in the path of a significant number of retreating bandits, and out of that platoon two dozen soldiers were killed with another dozen or so wounded, further driving home the point that these bandits were much better prepared and trained than anything the Harakians had faced before in Danteri. Along with the other twenty killed or critically injured from the 58th Infantry and a fair two dozen killed or wounded from the 4th Mountain, it was the single greatest loss of life the Harakians had suffered in Danteri.

The 2nd Armoured, on the other hand, had pulled off a minor miracle. With no casualties of any kind (Mostly thanks to the heavy armoured spearhead and bombing campaign) they ahd destroyed the bandit base and captured hundreds of bandits and non-combatants. Several commendations were handed out to soldiers by Major-General Neil, before he retired to his office and issued further orders. Forces from the 4th Mountain would secure any discovered weapon caches, while the CEF troops would take information from the captured bandits and use it to try and find any further bases.

With his military business now concluded, he turned to some better news. The Harakian-Danterian combined construction crews had managed to perform ahead of schedule and now had all power stations and water treatment and distribution plants back on line. Electricity and clean running water had been established to all the cities in the safe zones, and was being sent into the smaller towns and villages in the rural areas as soon as possible. The crews were now moving on to rebuilding the rest of the Danterian infrastructure: hospitals, roads, railroads, ports - things crucial to transportation and quality of life. With the new currency settled in, they could employ better crews and more people, and small-scale business, as in Haraki itself, was being instated and allowed in the cities. People were opening small shops selling food or trinkets, starting small businesses to provide services to the other refugees. It had been slow and shaky, but the safe zone was finally on its feet and even starting to prosper. Although its economy was still slightly shaky, the instatement of a brand new currency across the entire region at once had helped significantly with that.

After approving the new construction projects, Neil looked around his office. There was nothing more for him to do today. Just to check, he peeked around the corner of his open door. No-one was coming, and so he quickly changed out of his uniform into more casual clothes, threw on a jacket, and walked out the door. His aide raised a piece of paper and opened his mouth to say something, only to have Neil turn and glare at him in the eyes before giving him a warm smile. "Not now. I'll be back."

And, leaving his dumbfounded aide sitting there, he left to go visit Luisa Rhurlunder, just recently out of the hospital after making a nearly full recovery.

The Colonel turned towards the map, silent for a long moment, absorbing everything that was transpiring before him, and then jabbed a finger at what seemed like any other point of the defensive lines.

"Here General, they seek to push through, with the Underground Units they will attempt to punch a hole behind our lines and strike at our Oil reserves and long range AA guns, once those are gone they will attempt to launch a counter attack covered by further reinforcements as our forces pull to that location to prevent a further breach in the lines."

The Colonel studied the map for a few moments, and then gestured for a Radio, taking it hurriedly, he turned the dial a few times to the frequencys for the Solorien Commanders.
"Commander Jehrith I want Arch-Angel flight 220 to 315 Launched, to the Following Co'ordinates... 33 24 68. Commander Guyt I want Phoenix Squadrons to support the Erisian Attack on the left flank and provide covering fire for those aircraft coming back home."

The Colonel fiddled with the Dial a few more times and began speaking into it again.

"Enchantress you have full permission to deploy long range guns against whatever designated targets you may have acquired, And launch all available fighter craft for strikes on said targets."

The Chancellor turned the dial rapidly as though this frequency was one not intended for anyone else to see.

"Fyn-sylreha Zyta Tnykuh, bnulaat fedr Ubanydeuh: Zeryt, Ymm ahaso vunlac yna luhcetanat ubah vun yccyimd, yht ica uv vimm nyhka uv Faybuhno ec Yidrunecat. Syo dra Asbanunc Femm Pa Tuha."

The Chancellor flicked the radio off and began stufying the latest movements of the troops in an attempt to decipher their next moves.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Fyn-sylreha Zyta Tnykuh, bnulaat fedr Ubanydeuh: Zeryt, Ymm ahaso vunlac yna luhcetanat ubah vun yccyimd, yht ica uv vimm nyhka uv Faybuhno ec Yidrunecat. Syo dra Asbanunc Femm Pa Tuha."

As the Orders came through the Pilot rapidly tapped her fingers over the onboard computer touch screens, arming the required payloads. As the massive War-Machine rumbled into life once more it began the march towards the enemy positions, its AA guns roaring as it targeted planes with pin-point accuracy and brought them screaming from the sky, tracer rounds spat out from its beak tearing into enemy troop formations from an immense distance. Missiles roared out from the small launchers built into the joints of the knees smashing into light armour formations whilst the heavy Rail-Gun launched shells directly into the turrets of the enemy tank formations with devastating results.

The War-Machine continued its Implacable assault across the field of battle, seemingly a living Avatar of the Fury and Retribution of The God-Emperor himself, mighty beams of tracer ammunition surgiucally sliced the massed troops apart and obliterated the remnants with high explosive rounds. As it passed under the Aerial battle its AA guns roared towards the sky, swatting the enemy planes out of the sky once more, and finally when it had reached optimal firing position the Rail Gun raised itself heavenwards. Like an Accusatory finger at all that was wrong with this war, all the death, the slaughter, the senseless waste of human life, it pointed, and as the storm finally broke, and the ground was turned oily red with the blood of both man and machine the Rail-Gun switched ammunition with a loud thunking noise that resounded outwards across the field of battle, drowning out even the sound of the machine guns and missiles for a moment.

And then with deafening finality the pistons in the feet slammed into the ground bracing the deadly machine in the mud and gore it had wreaked upon the lands of Danteri, and the Rail-Gun slammed back against its housing, the shockwave of this launching the mud blood and water backwards in small waves. And the Mighty Projectile rising into the air at an Incredible speed, blinding slightly with an unearthly blue light from the magnetic coils that forced the projectile out with such frightening speed. With a deep thrumming noise the Rail-Gun began to glow again, and within moments a second projectile was launched, and then a third.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Auto Targetting systems onboard the new SCAW weapons activated moments after they were launched, as the three projectiled reached atmospheric heights they split into a further 4 warheads, and each locked onto its targets, before descending like wrathful angels of the God-Emperor back through the atmosphere superheated to an extreme level, tearing through the sky like a chariot of fire. The Projectiles impacted simultaneously all over Danteri.

Two slammed into the carrier fleet in the North East, boiling away the sea and blasting the ships into pieces, sending a large wave of heated water back against the shores.

Four slammed into a large military installation built rapidly after the conquest of central Danteri, fusing rock and melting steel, reducing the place into a superheated crater in the ground.

Three smashed into the build site for the guns that had been provided by Vega punching the place apart with the shockwave, before detonating the warheads with the immense heat.

Two slammed into the ground in front of the Joint lines, pusing deep underground until they came into contact with the first of the Drilling APC's and caused them to explode internally, sinking the ground by almost 32 inches in a depression where the APC's had been digging.

The Final Projectile screamed earthwards with a banshees cry, making its final deadly descent towards the Vegan Guns.

As these weapons of war entered the atmosphere the burning lances they traced in the sky were visible all over Danteri, Many Taydrmuntc forces gibbered incoherently at the sight running screaming towards the enemy lines firing wildly, others drew their service knives and pushed them up into their brains with a sickening crunch.

But yet thousands more screamed for bloody vengeance and the fight began anew as they moved in one massive screaming wave towards the enemy lines, all tactical sense was gone now, all that remained was the wave of machines and bodys, that thundered towards the front lines.

The Aircraft fell from the sky as the reinforcements from Soloriel re-entered the fray with their allys, almost 200 planes tore into the far weaker MiG's and swatted them out of the sky with a stunning ease, before turning toward the Vegan air-forces coming from the north ready to engage them.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Convoy approached the massive Bronze Gates of the Outer Walls of the Citadel. James felt his breath slip away, as it had done a thousand times before, at the massive sigils that they bore. His eye widened in adoration at the twin statues of the hooded figure beside the gates, its face obscured. As the front of the convoy showed the members of the Imperial Guard their papers they swung open with gliding ease.

"It Is said Sara, that it is the breath of the God-Emperor himself that opens these gates, note that they are almost 20 metres thick, and solid bronze. Truly it is a miracle."

James finished his words in a voice of rapturous awe, and his hand tightened its grip slightly on Saras hand, before he placed his arm around her shoulders and slid the roof open, and gently helped her to her feet. As they passed through the massive gates the streets of the Citadel were almost blinding in their beauty. The Streets were paved with With White Marble, and all the houses had drains and pipes made of gold, the windows shone with a blinding brightness, and the sounds of the Temple gongs rang out gently over the streets, Incense filled the Air making one light headed with the alien scent. A group of Priests moved gently beside the Convoy, their Dark Blue and red robes covered in a strange cyrillic script, as almost heavenly voices floated up to the heavens from their mouths.

"They pray to the Emperor, that he give them guidance, and forever shield us from the ills of the world, so that we may live in peace, and feel his love each day that we live under his guidance"

James eye watered slightly as the beautiful words that he could understand wrapped his heart in their gentle tone. They passed a small park as they progressed to the inner gates, the children and people played there, strange games shouted in an even stranger tongue. They were all dressed well and bore smiles of joy on their faces. One little girl came running up from between the pristine bushes and trees and stared at the convoy as it passed, her eyes filled with a strange inner light as she smiled and waved at the stern looking men who passed her on their way into the Citadel.

Street after Street of immaculately kept houses, all made to the same beautiful detail lined streets that were interpsersed with beautiful statues and fountains. The people here smiled and bowed as the military vehicles passed them, they all wore sumptuous robes and dresses of silk in many different colours and styles. None seemed to be anything but happy with the lives they were leading and quickly resumed whatever task it was that they had been doing beforehand. And then finally the Convoy reached the Main gates.

The Massive Gates were almost Four storeys tall and covered in Cyrillic script, they were also one might note, solid gold.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

The battered remnants of the last remaining Gun crew ran in fear as the pillar of fire descended from the sky, it was only afterwards that they realised it had landed at the primary site, not this one. With the final calibrations in place they began powering up the gun to launch the projectiles they had been provided, deep into the heart of Southaven...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

The man who had entered the room nodded to one of the guards as the three airmen refused to answer him. The guard stormed forwards and kicked the base of the chair dropping its occupant onto the floor with a thud as his shin bones impacted with the hard concrete.

"I will ask you again Soldiers, are you allied with the Taydrmuntc? And if not, then who are you working for?"

The Officer smiled a slightly sadistic smile as he withdrew what looked like a very slender, but effective, cattle prod from it sheath on his waist.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

A Solorien Loyalist Officer approached Alexander at the Airport where he had landed, and handed him a letter, before returning silently to his vehicle and driving away as fast as he could.

-The three airmen were stunned.-

"We work directly for Alexander. We are Loyalists. Delta Squadron is employed directly by him for his private use. We were supposed to be stationed outside of this country for survelience on Danteri. The news had arrived to him a bit late that Danteri was now under the control of several different factions from Foreign Leaders. Alexander seeked to aid Danteri by invading the lands to the north...Nordtun I think is the name. I do not really know what happened. First we were flying overhead of the fleet, then they began firing upon the beaches! When we tried to contact them, they began to fire upon us as well! That bastard Vega! I knew it was a mistake putting him in charge of nearly half the entire fleet!"

-Reynolds was sweating. Anger pulsed through his veins.-

"I wish to kill Vega. That is my new purpose."

-Mac put a hand on Reynolds' shoulder. He then addressed the men.-

"I too wish to kill Vega. No matter what you do to us, we will have our revenge. If you kill us, Alexander will burn all of Danteri to the ground. We are loyal to him. Vega knew that and he tried to get rid of us. As long as we live, Vega will be weak. Vega also knows this. He knows that as long as we live, Alexander will soon enough find out who his true enemies are really. By that, I mean that he is still oblivious that Vega is the enemy. That scumbag attacked innocent people! Not only here, but in Dephire as well! Alexander still can not figure out that it was Vega that called the assassination of his father. Delta Squadron had proof, but Alexander dismissed it. Vega had blinded him, but now...Alexander has slowly realised his mistake. He will not make that mistake again, I swear to it. If he is given the chance to, he will destroy Vega and anyone Allies towards Vega's Forces. Then he will slaughter those that have betrayed him. Alexander is a good man, but he does not take to kindly to being disobeyed. Now we ask you this, will you help him...or will you kill us?"

-Mac finished. Rem and even Reynolds was surprised at his speech.-

-Vega could only bear witness to the loss of one of the cannons.-

"That's one billion Dollars down the drain! Why didn't our Gattling Cannons destroy that missile?"

-The Admiral's Aide walked up.-

"Sir, they are suppressed. The enemy's front is moving onto our position. We must fall back. Maybe our allies to the south will be willing enough to house us. Maybe for a few weeks until we can regain a momentum."

-Another man, Vega's Advisor, came into the room.-

"Why back out now when he has the battle already won? So what if we lost a Dominator Cannon? We have several Stonehenge Classed weaponary!"

-Vega looked around for a third opinion, when none came up, he spoke.-

"No..We will only retreat if they breech the trenches,"

-The Advisor began to smile.-

"But, we will not use the Stonehenge weaponary. We don't have time to set them up! They have bloody missiles for God's sake! And Will...don't you think that the loss of a billion dollars is enough?"

-This time the advisor shied away.-

"If they want to use their missiles, then we can do the same! Skragg, Fire twenty Burst Missiles at their front line. Thirty in the air against their Airforce. Five at the enemy naval ships."

-Lieutenent Skragg, son of General Skragg, confirmed.-

"Yes sir. Firing missiles."

-Vega's aide interjected.-

"But sir..wouldn't Burst Missles be a bit much?"

-Vega smiled-

"No...not at all."

-The Dephirian Loyalist Forces were anchored just offshore South West of SouthHaven. They awaited approval by the 23Eris/Soloriel Joint commanders to engage any and all possible enemies that they can. Already, there were several potential targets in mind, but they could not engage...not yet anyways. Alexander greeted the man that walked out of the vehicle and was progressing towards him.-

"Hello, Hello! How are you?"

-Alexander's Guardsmen raised their machine guns at the newcomer, and the car. Safety measures.-

"I thank you for replying to my message...even if it was a bit late."

Lillis nodded at the Colonel's words and issued the orders that would redirect her reserves. Instead of moving the armored division back to cover that area she instead moved an anti-tank battalion, an engineer brigade and an infantry division to the area. The armored unit was moved towards the lines. With the betrayers having lost tactical control, the well disciplined troops of the Loyalist and Erisian factions were holding their own. Lillis was simply puttig her pieces into place for a strong counterattack once the Betrayer strength was depleted.

Erisian troops in the Freiburg province dug in. They had long ago ceased advancing and were soley concerned with maintaing contact with their Solorien allies and protecting the Freiburg area that had become so imprtant to the Erisian people. Despite the railgun progetiles that plummeted into their positions, casualties were relatively light. Erisian troops were scattered and well camouflaged in the snowy winter landscape of the north, and the hilly terrain provided adequate protection and cover. While the major battles occurred in the south, the Erisians simply planned to sit out the shelling and wait for the result of the more important southern front. If the Betrayers were defeated, the Vegans were clearly done for in Danteri.

"It is beautiful James," Sara replied, smiling at him. "We having nothing like this back in my home. It is much more... plain. No marble streets and certainly not so well laid out. They say in our capital one can get lost simply walking down the block."

"I've never seen so much gold in one place. Your empire must truly be rich if you can lavish it so on your buildings. It reminds me of the drawings of ancient rome and greece with all the marble and gold and such."

Sara turned her eyes back to the structures, though her expression became more thoughtful, "Though it seems so, ordered, everything so perfect. It- it all seems too perfect, no flaws anywhere, like they are being hidden away." Sara shrugged, "Like I said, it is beautiful, but I like to see some impefections."

-A message was being sent to the forces occupying the country.-

"Commander Stien. Vega asks that we assist him, immediately!"

-Stien looked over the papers.-

"What do we have that they could possibly want?"

-The looked through the window at several cargo planes.-

"In all actuallity...this could work. Hmm. How many men are paratroop capable?"

-The messenger looked around.-

"All of them."

-Stien looked back at the old plane.-

"Get them all combat ready. We are going to send him some forces. Oh, and Barco."

-He turned around just as he was about to leave.-

"Yes sir?"

-Stien looked at the reports.-

"Get our MiG's in the air. They may be needed to assist Vega."

The second wave of attack aircraft had left the Kallisti headed for Betrayer territory. Satellites had indicated where the last betrayer gun was and that it was heavily guarded. They had to take it out before it could wreak havoc on Southhaven, if it fired and caused massive civilian casualties, it was likely the government would demand a more... massive response.

The twenty five planes of the squadron came in low. With the rest of the betrayer airforce occupied over Southhaven, the squadron had no serious problem slipping in under the radar of Betrayer forces. Within a few miles of the site, five of the planes suddenly popped up and armed their radar seeking missiles, firing them as soon as they had locked on. Missiles from the air defenses quickly chased after them and two of those brave pilots disintegrated in a fireball along with their planes.

The rest of the flight lumbered on into the now alerted defense. Pilots armed their weapons and slowed, trying to get a lock on the target before releasing their own bombs and missiles. Air defenses roared after them causing heavy casualties amongst the determined bomber squadron. Seven more planes were shot down, only one of the pilots managing to eject safely.

The last plane, bombs armed, found itself unable to jettison its deadly cargo. The bomb release had malfunctioned, and the gun was still standing, preparing to fire. Quickly, the pilot made up her mind. She nosed down, aiming her plane directly at the gun and engaged her afterburner. At the last possible moment, she hit the lever to eject as the plane hurtled towards its target...

OOC:sorry, but i'm still a bit new here,so can someone gimme a list of who's the good guys and who's the bad guys?
Haraki

OOC: It's all very subjective. I'll give you a brief history.

Once the civil war broke out, a loose Haraki-led coalition established the Harakian Safe Zones in one corner of the country to keep population safe from the war, while many nations intervenedon one side or the other. Eventually nuclear and chemical/biological weapons were used and the civil war ended. Soloriel, 23Eris, New-Lexington and Zukariaa staked out large parts of the country, Zukariaa as a Kraven puppet state. Eventually Me Li and Montegrande also took over small parts.

After that, a series of brief wars were fought with Zukariaa that ended with them leaving the nation ans the Solorien/23Erisian alliance taking over their territory. A very brief Montegrande/Solorien war threw Montegrande out of the country.

Then the Solorien troops split into the Loyalists and the Betrayers. As far as I can tell, the Loyalists are allied with 23Eris and are good, while the Betrayers are allied with newcomers to the conflict Dephire and they're fighting a big war. New-Lexington is just kind of sitting there and has been for quite some time.

Essentially now all of Danteri is becoming engulfed in the Solorien civil war and as far as I can tell the only safe and secure place is the Haraki Safe Zone, which is now starting to prosper with a new currency and construction crews bringing all the old infrastructure back online. The rest of the country was originally destroyed by the civil war, then by Zukariaan occupation and land destruction, before beign partially rebuilt by Soloriel and 23Eris, and is now being destroyed again by the Solorien civil war.

So, good guys and bad guys? All very subjective. There's just sides. No set good/bad sides, just sides. The Harakian coalition, which sort of includes Me Li along with Gwazzaria, Bertling (Who haven't posted in a while) and Neue Neue Deutschland, is essentially good and in the country for the benefit of the civilians, but are still plagued by their fair share of problems, namely that Danterian people just don't know how to live at peace.

The 23Erisian/Loyalist Solorien alliance is also essentially good as far as I can tell, and are doing their best to fight off the Betrayers. However, Soloriel, to an outsider, probably seems like a pretty weird place. They worship their emperor as a god and nuke other countries.

The Dephire/Betrayer Solorien faction, well ... I don't know. They're fighting the others and being supplied by Dephire, but it's all getting a bit bizarre. I think they're the 'bad guys'.

And New-Lexington is just there. I think I covered all the factions. But ultimately, you have to choose.

OOC: And New-Lexington was deleted and replaced by Lexington SC and yes we are just there.

The three new battalions of the NNDEF had assumed their assigned positions within the Haraki-controlled portion of Danteri, and were begining to set up check-points along the roads, along with supply infastructure and so on.
The bi-weekly refugee fleet is still operatring, bringing a load of supplies (now including weapons and ammunition for the NNDEF) then returning to NND with 2,600 refugees every two weeks, as it has been doing for months.
Furthermore, while the NNDEF requests Haraki aid in bringing their new recruits up to par, they are also expanding the refugee rescue plan, adding another relief fleet which will bring supplies and take refugees. Basically, the NND relief fleets will be taking 5,200 people a month, and dropping off tons of supplies now - their opperations are being stepped up quite heavily.
Meanwhile, Oberst Luisa Rhurlunder has almost fully recovered from the assassination attempt.

When Major General Niel entered, she smilled, a relection of that old smile she had so often shown before the assassination attempt, then spoke to him for the first time since then:
"Hello. I'm not dead after all, it would seem - a perfectly good martyrdom wasted, eh?" she seemed to be trying to joke, which was probably a good sign. She gestured at the papers she had been going through on the side table, and added:
"And, since I'm not dead, it would seem that I've got work to do..." it seemed that she was feeling better...

Following the defeat of Sara von Freiburg's army of bandits and renegades, it has been discovered that there was a network of supply centers - weapons caches and so on - that the old pre-war government laid down in hopes of being able to resist invasion if a more powerful nation attacked. At least three are now known - all were plundered by the bandits, but have now been secured by the Harakis. However, there are literally scores of other sites, some potentially containing some of the chemical weapons that the old government were so keen on... and of course, since Sara von Freiburg escaped, no one really knows where all the sites are... the Loyalists who put them together are dead-or-fled, and it appears that the master list was captured by von Freiburg... in other words, a crazy woman has potentially enough military hardware to start a new Civil War...
Danteri
19-07-2006, 16:36
The cache was well hidden, but they found it fairly easily... but then, they knew where to look.
The site had likely been a natural cavern before it had been expanded, and so would look fairly innocous from outside. Of course, what was inside was enough to make any government nervous - near the front there were crates of small arms and ammunition, AK-47s mostly, plus M-16s, P-90s and MP5-A4s... but that wasn't why Sara von Freiburg had chosen to visit this site with what remained of her army.
The black cannisters at the back of the cave was why she had chosen this site - those matt-black cannisters marked "Sarin".

Seems a lot of troops to send to one country as part of a peacekeeping force. I currenlty have four divisions and one airborne brigade, and even that was only brought in in the (thought by Harakian officials) highly likely event of a Solorien or Zukariaan invasion of the Harakian zone. Originally I had one division.

In other news, I'm leaving for almost four weeks very early tomorrow morning and so in all likelihood won't have time to RP. Please don't do too much to the Harakian safe zones as I won't be here to RP a response. Thanks and see you all later.

The coup had little impact on the Undershi forces in Danteri, but still it made itself known. The dreaded IIS was almost unrepresented in the Danterian bases, but their much-feared storm troopers made an appearance, arresting and crucifying several officers on their list of overly liberal officers.
Meanwhile, in 23Eris, the Undershi ambassador was given an order to announce to 23Eris that the elections that had been promised were being postponed indefinitely - the Conservatives were back in power, so discredited had the liberals been by their repeatedly rejected attempts to make peace with NSAA.

The weapons caches had been a good source to arm her bandit horde, and it seemed that quite a few had escaped the Haraki ambushes... now, now she would show the foreigners what happened when Sara von Freiburg got angry... and they would suffer, but it would be worth it, because, in the end, they all deserved to suffer... after all, they had allowed Zukaria to prosper... the first target would be the 23Erisian zone, for no reason other than the simple fact that it would be closer to the sites they had chosen than any other targets. The Harakis would suffer too, but that plot required a bit more preperatory time, so that could wait... but, revenge would begin quite soon...

- Bandits are attacking village near the edge of the 23Erisian zone, killing all who resist (militia mostly), then looting and burning. They're targeting relatively lightly defended villages, and seem motivated by nothing other than the destruction they are causing - there isn't that much loot to take...

- About 350 people are dead so far, of which about 150 were armed militia resisting the bandits - the rest were unarmed civilians.

All along the border of the Undershi Zone, massive defensive lines are being constructed. Meanwhile, in the interior of the zone, transport ships are arriving from the Undershi mainland, carrying not only a full Division of True Undershi military engineers, but also huge numbers of conscripted civilians, who have been assigned to settle the Undershi Zone in order to provide a labor pool.
These workers are obviously not that willing - they are being housed in camps surrounded by razor wire, electrified fences and machine gun positions manned by IIS fanatics with orders to shoot on sight to kill any workers attempting to escape.

The Undershi Zone soon came to be filled with the sounds of construction as the worker housing camps were expanded and improved, and a road network laid out, connecting the port with the inner towns and the defensive lines. Most of this work is being done by Janissary military engineers and civilian workers, with True Undershi soldiers "supervising". This could be called slave labour...
Undershi

Allen Rynaldi had lived in Saint Rynald until the Undershis came. Then, after they had bombed his home and killed his family, they had rated his job "unessential" and sent him to Danteri with so many others, crowded onto a few transport ships. He had been a lawyer.
Now he woke up in a roughly made concrete barracks, with forty nine others, all sleeping on dirty straw stuffed matresses.
At five AM they played a few bars of some loud martial music over the camp PA system, then a black uniformed IIS man would unlock the door, at which point you were supposed to leave as quickly as you could. Each day, every man in the barracks with the last man to leave would recieve three lashes and still be expected to reach the same quotas. It didn't take them long to leave - they didn't own much, just the same for all of them - one light grey prison uniform, probably surplus Undershi Army, but with a shoulder patch of grey shackles on a black back ground. Other than that, all they owned in the world was one battered tin bowl and one pair of winter boots, which inveriably were in poor condition and improperly fitted to the prisoner. Considering that it was winter, they shivered a lot.
He made his way to the assembly ground, shivering in the cold, then stood there as the guards walked down the lines in their winter uniforms. They waited for almost an hour, as they did every day, until the Camp Commander walked down the lines as well, looking over the workers. Once that task was completed, he stood aside as a junior officer called off names from a list. If someone didn't respond, the lieutenant called out:
"Is he dead?", to which the answer had better be "yes", or they would crucify that man and one in ten of the others in his barracks, chosen at random.
Once that was done, two hours or so after they had been woken up, they would trudge to the Mess Hall, where they formed lines.
On most days, breakfast was a bowl of boiled grains with a few bits of loose "mystery meat" - most agreed that it was either dog or cat or rat, but a sizeable group claimed it was human... even most of those still ate it - those who didn't would starve to death that much quicker.
They ate. That done, the guards herded them out, where they worked on the roads until three PM, when they were given a half-hour break, and a bit of stale and moldy bread to eat. What was most infuriating was that it would have been almost as easy to feed them better bread - all of the bread was shipped in from Undershi-proper by air or sea, and that set aside for the workers was then allowed to mold and go stale before it was given to them. Such was the way of the Undershi.
When that break was done, they went back to work for six more hours, then trudged back into their barracks, passing rows of fresh and old crosses, some of which still shrieked.
After that, they were fed and given water - another bowl of boiled grain with mystery meat, although there was more meat at dinner time - which made them try not to think of the hacked-away sections of the crucified bodies...
After that, they slept.

Oberst Luisa Rhurlunder of the Neue Neue Deutsch Expeditionary Force watched as the 1st Battalion moved through their drills, shivering in the rain. It wasn't that things were terrible - they weren't, in fact they were improving. It was just that certain bandit groups had become more and more active, and so they were now a problem.
Fortunately, the NNDEF was now large enough to act more or less on its own, and so they would do what they could - the bandits had been hitting the 23Erisian zone most recently, but they were a threat to peace and order in all Danteri.
A message had already been sent to 23Eris - the NNDEF would be more than willing to help them hunt down the bandits that had been raiding the borders of their zones. She anticipated that they would say yes - after all, even if 23Eris was getting unhealthily close to those Solorielan loonies, they were still a liberal democracy at heart, and so would welcome an opertunity for international cooperation.
Now, as the 1st Battalion drilled, she paused to wonder about the new uniforms - they were so, well, militant, that she was suprised - sure, the Neue Neue Deutsch military had been expanded drastically, they had even bought three dozen Eurofighter Typhoons to form the core of a new air force, but these uniforms were unexpected - the Neue Neue Deutsch army had, since the war, always been little more than glorified riot police. Now they had uniforms that looked like what soldiers would wear - not just Politzei uniforms with shoulder patches that indicated that they were soldiers, not police. That change was welcome, but it made her wonder - in the time that she had spent in Danteri, what had changed back home?

Thirteen fighter jets were preparing themselves for an attack that would hopefully beat back the enemy forces to the East. Each were given several napalm bombs. Napalm being a fuel-based fire bomb, also known as liquid fire. The engines fired up, and began cruising down the make-shift runway well within the Vegan Territory. Moments later, they were climbing to an altitude of five hundred feet. Low, yet...efficient. Ten miles. Twenty miles. Their speed increased to just below Mach speeds. The target was off to the horizon, or...several targets to be exact.

A line appeared. Then there was the forest.

(OOC: Assuming there is one. If not, please notify me.)

The aircraft dropped their payloads, and turned away. They increased well withing super-sonic speeds.

Fire burned throughout the forest...it spread, and would be hard to put out.

You obviously haven't laid witness to the Dominator-Classed Rail Cannon, have you?
Dephire
10-08-2006, 11:51
General Overview:

The DCAAMRC was originally designed for the destruction of any asteroids or space debris that could have fallen to Earth during the periods of 2024 AD and 2067AD when a large meteor shower was predicted to strike Earth, this of course was proven false.

Armour Specifications;

These cannons were not only to be built to destroy, but built to withstand alot of brutal attacks.

Twenty inches of carbon armour incase each gun. After the carbon is a shell of solid titanium. Four inches further goes straight to another layer of solid carbon.

This gives it a semi-light design for higher manuverability in scenarios when things get hairy.

Size/Shape Specifications;

Any gun the size of a large frigate could scare anyone.

Barrel Length:
Approx. 1200ft. (Or roughly four football fields.)

Barrel Width:
Approx. 20ft.

Caliber:
Approx. 1200mm (If this is too out of porportion, please help me adjust.)

Range:
20-3750 Miles (Ground to Ground)
2-4000 (Ground to Air) ((That's the With a fused shell))
1-5000 (Ground to Sea) ((The One mile is a minimum, Safety Reasons))

Firing Specifications/Statistics;

The DCAAMRC takes thirty seconds to lock onto a target, remarkable for it's size. It can also fire at an rate of five shells per minute. Slow, but given the shell's capabilities, it is effective none-the-less.

Safety Precautions;

Don't stand within a hundred feet without proper saftey gear on. (Trust us. You don't want to be deaf, do you?)

Shells;

Prices;

OOC: Haraki and 23Eris are really important to this RP, but haven't posted for a while... and neither has Soloriel, for that matter... but, still: want a war?

The Undershi Empire has begun drastically stepping up their presence in Danteri, as their war with The Aeson, the GASN and NSAA winds down. It seems increasingly likely that they are planning something...

OOC: First of all, I'm back, although I'll probably be on much less than before. I'll try and get in some detailed posts, but don't count on any more than one a day, and even that might be stretching it. On another tack, I just read the few pages that occurred while I was gone, and it seems like much of it turned into OOC comparisons of nations' might and descriptions of weapons that don't have much to do with the RP. All over and done with, let's move on and get back to actual Danteri.

IC:

Neil had been sidetracked for but a moment on his way out the door, reading over and signing a paper authorizing satellite, aerial, helicopter and ground searches to find bandit encampments or wepons caches in an effort to remove the threat of Sara von Freiburg's forces. In one of the largest operations the Harakian military had conducted in Danteri in the recent past, the entire 4th Mountain, the deployed airborne brigade, and the three deployed brigades from the veteran 3rd Infantry would all be deployed into the rough areas where the bandits had operated, in conjunction with the limited airmobile helicopter elements as part of the 3rd Infantry, and whatever air and naval support the Harakians could provide.

Then he was out the door and on his way over to the Neue Neue Deutsch training grounds, where he knew they were drilling for a hopeful deployment to the 23Erisian-controlled area. In his own staff car, he drove to the gate and was quickly waved through as the guard at the gate made an internal call to summon Luisa Rhurlunder to her office, where he would be waiting and admiring whatever particular decor she happened to have placed on the walls. Ostensibly it was a business visit, to do with the NNDEF's possible redeployment, but Neil's casual, almost civilian garb (His military-issue jacket over looser fatigues instead of his customary uniform) seemed to suggest otherwise.
Neue Neue Deutschland
16-08-2006, 18:27
The Neue Neue Deutsch Expeditionary Force was just begining to construct a new HQ building, but until it was ready, they would remain based in the warehouse complex they had held during the initial period of their deployment.
Already, plans were underway to convert the warehouses into storage for relief supplies once the soldiers had been moved out.
Oberst Luisa Rhurlunder had moved her office to one of the first sections of the new complex, partly to be nearer to the new base, but also to get away from the building where she had been attacked.
In terms of decoration, her office was unusually lacking - on the wall there was a picture of what appeared to be her extended family, plus a certificate saying that she had graduated from the Free University of Neue Berlin. Other than that, the only signs of color came from a Neue Neue Deutsch flag in one corner.
Her desk was covered in papers, some spilling out onto the floor, and the whole place seemed a mess. As Major General Niel walked into the room, she looked up and smilled, commenting:
"Sorry about the mess, but the Neue Neue Deutsch military seems to love its paper work, and our computer systems are down while we make the shift over into the new base. Added to that is the fact that I've got technical responsibility for the other intervention force we have off fighting the Khornate Tribes, and you've got a mess. On that note," she continued as she stood, "we would like to ask if Haraki would like to lend a hand - thousands have been slaughtered, and our own expeditionary force is made up only of the 4th battalion, which has just finished training. Would you mind sending some observers or training troops?" as she finished with her requests, she actually seemed to blush, before adding:
"Oh, and sorry about being 'all buissiness' - I wouldn't make all these requests if they weren't necesary. On a better note, the 1st through 3rd battalions are ready to assist your forces in whatever manner you require - also, thanks to your generous aid package when it came to our navy, we are preparing to send a few dozen light coastal patrol vessels here to help secure the coasts against smugglers and so on." smilling again, she added:
"Now, how about we discuss how my men might be of help over lunch?"

One AM: Undershi Zone, Danteri

Three hundred Drake MBTs rolled forward, heavy Gauss cannons aimed at the horrizon, ready to fire as soon as they crossed the line... as they soon would. It seemed as though the easiest vector of expansion for the Undershi colony in Danteri would be through territory held by the Antigirans - they had claimed a bit of former McPsychoville territory, and so could easily be pushed out, trapped as they were by the Solorielans at their backs.
Behind the Drakes came 1,000 Viper IFVs, carrying a full True Undershi mechanized division, while overhead, three hundred Crusader and 250 Paladin helicopters flew cover.
It looked like war would soon break out again in Danteri...

Meanwhile:

At the same time, this message is being sent to the governments of Haraki, Neue Neue Deutschland, 23Eris and Soloriel:

The Undershi Empire is engaged in a border dispute with Dephire. This is purely a matter between our two nations, and we will consider any attempts at intervention to be acts of war. You have been warned - our ICBMs stand ready, as do our diplomats, who would be more than glad to offer portions of the contested territory to your governments in exchange for your cooperation. We await your replies.

He grinned as he listened to her make her last proposal, pausing only momentarily to make a comment about business before moving on. "About the Khornate tribes ... much as I'd like to help, I think I'll need to know a bit more before I can convince anyone to do anything. On your very own better note, I think I've come up with some ideas to talk over about the NNDEF, especially with your new naval support, and also a new proposal from my government. I think everything can be covered over lunch, and you beat me to asking. So I suppose the long and short of it is ... yes. I'd love to." Revealing a slightly cheeky grin, he stepped forward and - making sure to be at least marginally polite about it - attempted to link elbows with her.

Smilling broadly, she linked elbows with him, and pointed the way to the officer's mess, commenting as she did:
"You know, one of the things I'm enjoying entierly too much about my new position of power has got to be the food - they've sent a special chef from Neue Neue Deutschland to cook for me, and I have to say it's been good. Tell me what you think about the food."
The food in the officers mess was quite good, and Luisa actually seemed to be relaxing, something that no one seemed to have recalled happening before, either when she was a nervous Hauptmann or after her injury.

The officers' mess was relatively empty, as it was still the middle of the day but before the assigned time for lunch to begin. Only a few tables had anyone sitting at them, and most of them were just one or two people reading or writing documents, which left Gregory Neil and Luisa sitting alone at one of the smaller tables. Choosing whatever the chef recommended, Neil sat down and began eating, relatively slowly so as to allow conversation. Nodding his head in appreciation of the food, he swallowed a mouthful. "Much better than what I get on a daily basis," he said playfully. "I might have to start stopping by for lunch more often."

The situation wasn't looking good. Dephire, Undershi and the rest of the militarist occupying powers looked set to conduct another round of warfare, and when they did, the Danterians would suffer more than any other group. This was their homeland, this was their home, and when the various non-Danterian factions fought, they wreaked the lives and livelyhoods of the Danterians.
It wasn't fair, but then when was life ever fair?

Also, sorry. I'm pretty inactive lately, so I haven't been posting the most. Other things.

IC:

He let the moment elapse, both of them sitting in silence and eating the good food, trying to think of other things before he brought it up again. "Well, we can at least think about the good things we've done for the people here. More than thirty million people are safe because of what we did, and we estimate that they're actually better off now than they were before the civil war started. We've got all the infrastructure up and running, water treatment plants, power stations, hospitals ... They even have things they didn't have before. Even though there's lots of shit going on in the rest of Danteri, at least we managed to do some good," he said, looking straight into her eyes.

He stopped, taking a few more bites and thinking through what he'd just said and what it really meant. Sometimes it made him very angry what other countries were doing to land that wasn't theirs and innocent people. But he could always come back to the stubborn 'At least I did something' argument. And he always got the same counter-argument from himself. 'Could I have done more?'

Well anyways.
Vegan Forces have surrendered to the Dephirians after the current civil war. Jonathan Vega is back in power as Fleet Admiral, and was sworn in by Alexander himself. So Vega is now the Dephirian Forces. In that, Dephire plans on sending an actual force to assist in Nordton. Nordton being the region Vega captured several real-life months ago. (Yes he really did and
23Eris confirmed as did Soloriel.) With Nordtun being under Dephirian Control, it shall be renamed as Dexris. With this declaration, Dephire shall now be known as the Dephirian Empire. (Though, it was previously called that for conquering Los Mexico and Defeating Sochatopia...) The Dephirian Flagship known as the Drevin has been repaired and will lead the fleet towards Dexris. Vega shall be in charge of the fleet with Dephirian Loyalists watching him, just in case of another outbreak.

If you have any problems with this, Telegram me.

Otherwise, any and all enemies of Dephire should begin preparing their defenses.

I have made a list of allies with Dephire:

Oberst Luisa Rhurlunder quietly cursed as she examined the latest reports from western Danteri. Thousands of lives would be lost if Undershi and Dephire went to war, and from all reports, that was what was about to happen.
Things had been looking grim recently, even if Sara von Freiburg and her terrorist friends had been suprisingly quiet. Most reports now agreed that they had gotten their hands on some chemical weapons, which was never a good thing when one was dealing with terrorists. Still, in eastern Danteri, things were looking up, as more and more rebuilding occured, and more NND troops were shipped in.
She wished she could spend more time with Major General Niel, but, well, things were just plain too busy. Sighing as she finished looking over her reports, she made a mental note to try to contact the Harakian officer - for weeks now, all she had had time for were a few quick e-mails and notes, and he commanded the larger force. It would be a good idea to check with him to see about unified planning in case the war in the west spread to the secured Safe Zones on the eastern coast.

Sara von Freiburg watched as her bandits, her soldiers, moved the heavy canisters through the frozen snowdrifts. It looked like spring was on its way, and with spring, near immobility to the whole country, as the snow and ice melted into mud that would sink any heavy vehicle deep down in seconds. She had always hated the weather in Danteri - it seemed to be God's curse on the poor people of that unfortunate nation - they suffered horribly, from evil, cruel or selfish leaders, from famines and from wars... and then, on top of all of that, there was the weather.
They had moved for weeks, crossing the remains of the Solorielan zone, avoiding patrols as Soloriel came apart at the seems once more. It seemed that this most ancient of nations had just as many problems with stability as some of the newer ones did.
Right now, Sara von Freiburg, leader of some thousands men, thought back longingly on her days in the University of Freiburg, where she had studied... before the brutality of the old system became fully obvious to her, and made her feel the need to fight. She had been happy there, at the university, amidst books and lectures and that sort of atmosphere you get when you have so very many intelectuals in one place. She doubted any of her professors, if they were even still alive, (doubtful since old Freiburg was a blasted ruin, most of its citizens dead) would recognize the ruthless bandit leader that she had become.
Now she carried a modified AK-47 rather than text books, now she led soldiers rather than playing at leading a group of student socialists and anarchists who had done little more than chant slogans and thrown rocks... and who had been slaughtered none the less. Most of her friends from back then had died in the old governments death camps, along with nearly three million other Danterians.
That, and her own near execution at the hands of the Red Danterian governemnt that she had worked so hard to establish, had turned her off politics. When Red Danteri collapsed, that had been the final straw - now she was an anarchist, and now she was dead set on using her men and the chemical weapons they had looted on the worst fascists in Danteri. History would vindicate her - Danteri would someday be free from the fascists and the lieing, corrupt, "communists" who had betrayed her... even from the Neue Neue Deutsch and the Harakians, who had done little... except try to destroy her power base when she started raiding.
She had escaped, though... and so she would strike again...

The Dephirian Territory thinned as the southern portion closest to the ports were given to Undershi. Even as it thinned, they began pushing eastward. Soloriel Loyalists were not enemies of the Dephirian Royalists, so it was acceptable as tens of thousands of Apocalypse Tanks rolled through the desolate land. Thousands of corpses were encountered on their path. They were charred, and many were missing limbs. Large tanks were abandoned on the roads. Some soldiers were able to get them running, and were later added to the column. A Dominator-Class Rail Cannon was seen in the distance, but when the forces arrived, it was found to be in disrepair. Large segments were missing, possibly the result of massive bombings. It was cold, and the soldiers were dressed in their Heavy Winter Suits. Specially designed assault rifles dangled at their hips. The helmet's visors gave an eerie orange glow on the landscape. Several Aircraft soared overhead, giving some support in case the column was ever attacked. The Drevin provided radar support in case any hostiles were within the area. In addition to the tens of thousands of tanks, there were several hundred Artillery units, many many missle launching trucks, thousands of humvees, hundreds of SAMs, and roughly three hundred thousand soldiers. This, obviously, was the former Vegan Front. Now they were known as the Dephirian Blitz Front. Behind them, back in Nordton, several million more were being unloaded. If Dephire wished to stay in the war, they would have to do it with a Bull Rush worth reckoning.

Neil was busy. What with the Undershi and Dephirians going to war, the east coast was beginning to look like a forlorn hope. Despite all the progress made in the separate safe zones on the eastern coast of Danteri, the war in the west threatened to overshadow and threaten everything they had accomplished. Undershi, a fairly large military powerhouse, would most likely have little trouble with the Dephirian forces, which would leave only the inactive Solorien and 23Erisian forces between them and the rest of Danteri. With a major port secured out of Dephirian territory, they could move forces in at will and forge a larger army with which to wage war on the rest of Danteri, should they so choose.

He made a mental note to requisition more troops from home, including some of the air support he had lost when Zukariaan forces had withdrawn. ANd another mental note to meet with Luisa again. When they'd last met for lunch, they'd never gotten around to talking about the business he'd meant to talk about. It was his won fault for continually forgetting to bring it up, but it meant he needed to talk to her again. Composing a quick message, he sent it off before turning back to his business: Regulating patrols to look for bandits, and overseeing the opening of a new power plant tomorrow, the last of the major plants that would need to open for the safe zone to run best for everyone.

Since when were You and I going to war, Undershi? Chuckles Looks like people misinterpreted our intentions.

Also, Undershi isn't that much bigger than me, so be nicer. My DCRC's will make your life a living hell if you fail to be nice.

One more thing, Undershi, you have control of some DCRC's yourself now that you are an ally. Once that alliance breaks, all control will severe.

Simon Randalph, former Admiral of the Imperial Undershi Navy, paced back and forth in a little room, wondering what was going on, why his homeland had gone so bad so quickly... he wondered a lot of things, and could not help but feel as though the universe was against his dreams of a liberalised Undershi. It looked like the best service he could perform for his homeland would be to discourage it from attacking the best liberal democracy he knew - Haraki. Sighing at the realization of what he was about to do, he dialed a number he had been given back when he first fled to Haraki. He was ready to talk about the Undershi military.

Oberst Luisa Rhurluder smilled at the note from her Haraki counter-part, immediatly jotting down a reply:

Of course we can have lunch sometime soon. How about tommorrow? As for the situation with the Dephirans and the Undershis, well, that looks to be quieting down for now, although, knowing the Undershis, those territorial concessions that the Dephirans made will likely come back to haunt them, when the Undershis finally finish developing those ports and start feeling like expanding again. We can talk about it at lunch though. See you then.

That done, she turned to the message she had just recieved from the head of the expeditionary force off in the territories of The Khornate Tribes. Things looked grim there, and she couldn't help but worry - the Undershis had shown up there as well, and were now talking about using atomic weapons on a bunch of horse riding barbarians... that worried her, beyond merely the enviornmental impact, what would this mean for, well, for world wide security, for god's sake? Sighing, she jotted down a note - she would have to check with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Defense back in Neue Berlin about all of this.

OOC: The Dominator-Class Rail Cannon (DCRC for Short) Is basically a very large artillery cannon of large-scale destruction. Details can be found in several locations, such as the NS Draftroom. They have a recommended firing rate of roughly one round per sixteen minutes up to eight hours depending on the ammunition used.

IC:

The Dephirian Column had finally reached a site of awe, the eastern coast of Danteri. Now the territory expanded coast to coast. They had cut off the lands to the north with one swift bullrush, and it amused the Dephirians of how minute the country was. Slowly, as more military personel arrived, they expanded to the north. This gave them an additional five hundred square miles per day. (Yes, there are lands to the north that were never contested. It's all in the old map that 23Eris presented me.) Alexander send a message to all of the factions within the nation.

"It is time for you to seek refuge, fellow territorial holders. This message is to inform all of my allies that Dephire wishes to expand along the Eastern Coast Lines of Danteri. Of course, this can only happen with the additional support of the allies that Dephire may have. Undershi, I let you use our ports, now allow us to take the North Eastern Coastlines. Zukariaa, we need your support in destroying any remaining Soloriel Betrayal Forces. They should be crippled by now. All other allies will be notified later of actions they must commit. Thank you for your cooperation."

The Dephiran request was greeted with a mixture of humorous mockery and disbelief - how could these Dephirans expect help from the Undershi when they had so recently nearly gone to war? Still, diplomacy being what it is, a reply was in order, and not just a mocking dismissal - rather, the Dephirans would recieve the help they required, but would also be brought down a notch...

Undershi High Command's Response to the Dephiran Request:

Gentlemen, we have recieved your requests - some would say demands, and have examined them. We find no problems with coming to your aid, but would like to make a request for something in exchange - we want to be allowed some expansion inland from our coastal positions - we want to be allowed to establish control of sufficient good territory to allow for the construction of support centers, air fields, military bases and defenses apporpriate to the level of investment we have put into our territories here. We await your reply - specifics can be discussed once you have agreed with our "requests", with our demands, in principle.

Sara von Freiburg watched as her picked team of infiltrators made their way across a little valley, moving silently so as to avoid Dephiran patrols. She was... worried, yes, that was it, about how things were progressing. They had planned to hit the Undershi fascists in the spring, which meant moving through the winter. It had seemed like a good idea back in a well heated base camp, but then...
Then the Harakians had hit their camp, and sent the few survivors scuttling for cover. Still, through mostly the force of her personality, she had kept at least a portion of her band together, and now they made their way towards the Undershi Zone, intent on teaching those fascists a lesson.
Traveling on foot, it took ages to cross Danteri - it was hardly a tinny continent, and most of it was full of icy, frozen, snow drifts at this time of the year.
Still, they had made good time... and that was what worried her. Never before had everything seemed to go so... well, so right something kept telling her that there had to be a trap somewhere... but she couldn't see one. Perhaps it was just that she had been fighting too long, and seen too much defeat... but even that wasn't enough on its own. There had to be something her conscious mind wasn't seeing... or maybe there wasn't. Maybe she was just over tired.
Still, they had a long way to go before they reached their target. Shaking her head to clear out the thoughts, Sara von Freiburg continued on her way.

Things looked bad for Neue Neue Deutschland, and there didn't seem to be a thing she could do about it.
Still, in Danteri at least things were looking, well, not terrible was the best way she could put it - Undershi and Dephire were advancing, and that was a bad thing, and there had been reports of terrorist activity in the west, but still, things seemed quiet and peaceful in the Safe Zone - and that was a very good thing.

The chemical weapons canisters breached at the predetermined time, and deployed themselves against their target - a collumn of Undershis... to be specific, a collumn of Undershi slave laborers and the few Army soldiers guarding them.
The soldiers were perfectly safe - their powered armour protected them quite well from even nerve gas - however, the slave laborers were not so lucky - they began to shriek and die as the gas spread into the air.
By the end, almost one thousand slaves were dead... and not one Undershi to go with them.

Throughout the Danteri countryside, but especialy in the capital, Danteri City, violent anti-government rebels clashed with loyalist security forces. Dozens were killed by Loyalist troops in the capital, as they fired indescriminantly into an angry crowd that had gathered to protest the recent executions of several Danteri political dissidents. Dozens more were killed by rebel bombs and guns as all order broke down, reducing Danteri City to a state of anarchy.
Both the Danteri Government and the rebels have issued press releases, and here they are:

This Message Approved by The Office of The Supreme Leader:

My fellow citizens of this world, the Confederacy of Danteri has reached a crisis point. Terrorist rebels have slaughtered their countrymen, striking out blindly, filled with hate towards anyone they see as serving the true Danteri Government. However horrifying these events may be, they are, and remain, a Danteri internal matter. Any foreign intervention will be considered a violation of our territorial integrity and right to soverignty. We can deal with this problem ourselves.

This Message Approved by The People's Revolutionary Council:

To all the liberal, sane and rational nations of this world, we need your help. Already, we have struck a blow to the corrupt, bloated and vile Confederate "Danteri" government. We now need foreign intervention, help and aid from any governments that wish to see an Evil tyrany overthrown to make way for Democracy. Thank you. Goodbye.

Please note that while the rebels have damaged much of the Danteri infastructure, the Confederacy of Danteri remains under the control of the Danteri Government. As such, their policy decisions will be the ones to go into effect... although that could change, should the rebels gain control of a sufficient number of regions.
Any nations that wish to intervene should post here, any that wish to communicate to either faction should send a telegram to the Confederacy of Danteri, located in the South Pacific.

The most compassionate nation of Sunnylven immediately sees its calling in your case, and the people joyfully accepts the opportunity to come to your nation's aid. The people of Sunnylven, whose currency are hugs, are convinced that the rebels would indeed calm down receiving some of Sunnylven's most exquizit hugs.

Yours truly,
Constitutional King of Sunnylven,
Andre Ljoen

You'll be spending more probably every day than you'll concievably ever make from this whole invasion just keeping it going. Not to mention: When you have fifty million men marching/driving across a country, they'll take up a lot of space. Having fifty million men in your army period would take a lot of money and such. Although you both (I assume) have massive defence budgets, feeding, training and outfitting the troops themselves will take a lot.

Also, how did you transport them in the first place? It would take a lot of boats to move the population of the Ukraine into Danteri. Their camps would be enormous. They would consume massive amounts of food, electricity, oil ... Let's see. Using the Ukraine, as before:

The Ukraine consumed 176 billion kWh of energy in 2004. It consumed 491,700 barrels of oil a day in 2004. Where is all this coming from? It took the Harakians forever to build the plants to process that for thirty million civilians, let alone a fifty million man army. Also remember that the land you're occupying was repeatedly fucked over by Zukariaa. There are no natural resources left. That means everything this massive army needs, everything this massive army consumes, has to be imported. This leaves you with enormous convoys of goods coming into the country. The time spent for these to load, move, unload and move back to load again will be enormous when they're loading and unloading the entire army's supplies. Not to mention the time taken to move them in in the first place and, later, to move them out/mobilize them/actually send them to war would be enormous. The total number of people that ever served in the Wehrmacht (German armed forces from 1935-45) was 18.2 million people, and it took a hell of a long time to recruit, train, mobilize, demobilize, and outfit them. They consumed huge amounts of supplies and eventually the cost of the war destroyed Germany.

I hope you see where I'm going with this. Now I know that you can whip out the old 'this is NationStates, not real life. That sort of stuff doesn't apply' thing, but that's not in the spirit of how we've been RPing this. In short, 50 million men in an army is an incredibly unrealistic number and would never work. Hell, one million people is probably too much for Danteri. For comparison, that's about one soldier for every 35 people in the Haraki safe zone.

Please don't numberwank. Think of the children.

OOC:
Correct me if I'm wrong, but Undershi and I have been in this conflict long enough to transport over fifty milllion soldiers by now. Also, what the hell is with you and these real life statistics? The people of nationstates do not even think about oil. It's not part of anything. Also, I do not have fifty million men just running around. If you can read, and I hope to god you can, I clearly stated that my infantry is roughly a few hundred thousand while the other few million or so is divided into logistics and other classes. Who cares about Ukraine? Last time I checked, China had a much larger population and a much larger army...yet they do not have a problem. Well...they do. (Can't communicate all too well.) So you can take this number-wanking crap away, because it's getting old. I know what I'm doing.

Wait...Who the hell said we had fifty million soldiers anyway?! THAT'S A DIFFERENT THREAD!

OOC: What? I think real world numbers certainly have more relevance than you seem to be assigning them. Basically, I agree with Haraki - even fifty million pitch-fork wielding conscripts would be a strain on a nation.

ICly:

Oberst Luisa Rhurlunder smilled as she read the latest reply from Major General O'Niel. It offered help in the Khornate Tribes situation - and that was something that Neue Neue Deutschland certainly needed. Perhaps they might even be able to hold rather than withdraw, with some help from Haraki. It would be worth seeing.
Continuing to smile, in spite of the anger that the thought of the situation with Undershi, in both Danteri and The Khornate Tribes, had created within her, she composed her reply:

Greg, I'd like that very much. We can get together for lunch today maybe. As for the situation in the Khornate Tribes - it's getting desperate. The Undershi are there too, and seem intent on forcing our Expeditionary Force out and enslaving the people - as they seem to be doing in the portion of Danteri that they have claimed. These Undershis - they remind me of the Kravenites, such is their cruelty and expansionism. Still, I look forward to our lunch. Sincerly,
Luisa

Dephire,remember when you said this:
"and i thought my 25 million was a bit much"
and then said that Undershi would have a further 25 million,if not more.
You did say that.see for yourself on page 115
