Sarik smiled at Harlin and nodded. "Many thanks, Harlin. It is good to know that there are still those willing to sacrifice themselves for the better of the world..."
"I plan to confront everyone with this soon..."
"Speaking of everyone, where's Shara? I figured she would have tended to your wounds," Sarik said as he walked up to Harlin and opened his palm near Harlin's wounds, healing energy going into rogue.
Harlin returned the smile as the pain in his muscles and joints eased to a dull throb. Breathing a sigh of relief, he replied, "She was helping Lorathin out of the Library the last time I saw her. I was tending to Minos at the time, so..." He shrugged, "She could be anywhere. Thank you for that Sarik, perhaps I can accompany you to the 'meeting' now that I can move comfortably again."

Kalzog noticed the figure of Lorathin approaching. "Well well, if it ain't the sleepy head himself!" he chuckled as he put the orb away.

"I would be honored to have you come," Sarik smiled as he noticed Lorathin enter the Library. "My guess is that we could find a group of them in there," he said as he donned his armor again.
Lorathin waved, "Are you and Ar'mai alright, and do you know where the others are?"

"Ar'mai's fine, I was just patched up, as for the others," Kalzog paused as a smile crept up his face. "I don't think my super vision is quite super enough to detect them from my unconscious body as I am suffocated by books."
"And how about you? Are you alright?"
"Been better, but I'll recover, now I have to go find the others." Lorathin commented

"Where are you planning on looking?" Kalzog asked gruffly as he leaned against a nearby bookcase.
"Was planning on asking a guard for directions actually." He replied

"Directions to some more people? Pah! Use that human nose of yours," Kalzog joked, referring to Lorathin's earlier comment of the ogre nose.
"Humans don't have noses like ogres do." Lorathin replied with a grin.

Harlin sauntered into the Library showing only a trace of the limp he had displayed before. Looking at the three others there, he said, "Sarik's right behind me, but where's everyone else?"
"So what about the others?" Lorathin, "Do you know where they are?"

Harlin gave Lorathin a weird look and was tempted to say, You first, but instead decided to relay what information he did know.
"Sarik is out in the hall putting on his armor. Minos is, I think, still unconscious in his room, and Shara is..."
"Here."
Harlin turned to see the hybrid beauty standing in the doorway. "Good to see you my dear!"
"And you," she replied. "Hello everyone. What brings us all back to the Library this evening?"
"So everyone's well and intact then?" He pressed

"No," Kalzog grumbled. "My ego is still bruised..."
"That won't stop you." Lorathin commented
"You can find her in the capital, it's a magnificent blue house that stands above most the others." Cadeyrn said to Inzikai before moving closer to Tera.
"I have never met anyone more selfish!"
"Traitor!"
Their words spun in his mind like a preaching jury laying down the sentence. Sometimes you have to sacrifice one thing for another, and sometimes that sacrifice is incredibly difficult. I would lay this world to ashes if only to keep protecting her.
"It's a shame I had to kill Beau, he would have made a worthy ally." He mused flinging the blade over his back.
"I'd sacrifice her own life just to keep living with her!" Tha- That's not what I meant entirely. Most of them just don't understand what it is to feel this way.
"It's getting cold out here." He said rubbing his hands together trying to stir a conversation.
Fala was washing the pot, plate, and utensils she had used for the lonely night's meal when she suddenly let go of the pot she was holding onto and gasped. The tiny cauldron clanked against the ground, the sound echoing off the metal walls of the pot.
Something terrible had happenened to her husband. She just knew it. And she knew it was coming too. She had asked Maverion not to go the day he was summoned to depart for Zlatlan, but he insisted, stating duty.
That was what seemed a long time ago. All those intervening days were so very different, without him around in the house. But she was able to cope with the silence of the house because she could continue hoping that Mave would walk through the front doors again at any moment.
But now, that hope was gone. He was not going to return. She was alone.
***
Teralynn had a feeling she was going to hear something to that extent. When she did not see Maverion with Rothargot and the others, she knew she might not ever see him again. The fool probably even took it upon himself to distract their assailants while Rothargot and the others made their escape. After all, she was able to feel his presence still until the moment the flying carpet began diving into the ground.
She was not too shaken up by the news, though. She never truly respected the guy, per se. He was her superior, yes, but she felt that she ought to have been his superior instead. He was not completely incompetent, though, unlike most other people she knew, and Mave was actually one of the select few that she could actually trust. At least, more so than she could trust most other people. The death of Maverion was a loss, yes; but in the end, it was an insignificant blow to the forces of Valtrox.
Then Rothargot told Cadeyrn to take care of her.
"I am fine," she said, not wanting to appear weak.
"It's getting cold out here," Cadeyrn said while rubbing his hands together.
The fire burning within her body was as intense as ever, if not more so, and her brain continued to pound against her skull. She knew not of this coldness that the man spoke of, and she was not in any sort of mood to attempt to be anything but blunt. "Not really," she said before walking in the direction of the boat Inzikai indicated.
She knew of this Cadeyrn and the Beau he spoke of from when Mave transmitted all that information mentally to her, and could only assume that Cadeyrn was no longer sided with the other guests of Rimoru that Inzikai came with.
"There will probably be about a dozen to fifteen men on that boat," Teralynn said to him. "I trust they should not be too difficult to handle. And by the way, you are dripping blood still, and that's leaving a trail for pursuers to follow. Stop it."

"It is an honor to meet you. I was beginning to guess that you might be." Koryl replied, his answering grin showing slightly pointed teeth. "Tales abound of the beauty of Empress Rimoru, though mere words cannot truely do you justice.
"I can indeed track Marlene, and I will. From what I saw, that crowd is one no innocent person deserves to be involved in."
He tilted his head, giving her a better angle at his ear. His dark, subtly striped hair was short, thick, and soft.
"As for what I am, my heritage is... mixed."
There was a trace of sadness in the wanderer's voice as he continued.
"Four ways, in fact. Nertar and Devrel from my father's side, human and Shadowdancer from my mother."
OOC: The first two are species from two of my other nations. The Nertar are cat-like humanoids; Devrel are a variety of goblin.
This is just the price I promised myself I'd pay. Selling my soul in exchange to keep protecting her, fair trade. Besides this little venture should make me stronger, rid myself of this pathetic human frame.
His company wasn't in the most pleasant of moods, but it was company nonetheless. She mentioned he was dripping blood and he spun to see he was indeed leaving small but noticable traces.
"I'm very sorry." He apologized as the blood ignited and quickly evaporated leaving nothing. "I wasn't aware we were supossed to be discreet."
He didn't want to question her orders because as far as rank goes in this new group he assumed he was at the bottom. As far as he knew his commanding officer was Inzikai until this god would reveal himself to Cade.
Climbing onto the boat he saw that the sailors had taken alarm to the brute's presence. Before any action could be taken he mowed through them drenching the deck in blood. Some had managed to leap into the ocean were Cadeyrn methodically finished them with his crossbow.
Yeah, just like the old days.
He swept what was left of the crew into the sea and headed back down the ramp towards Teralynn.

Karasu slowly pulled herself out of bed wearing the robe she had on from earlier. She wandered out the door and began to roam the hallways.
I have not heard from Lorathin... perhaps someone is... I need to make sure everyone is OK.
Karasu began to walk towards what was left of the library.

Rimoru giggled as Koryl tilted his head. "You flatter me, Koryl," she chuckled as she continued to scratch Koryl's ear, moving a little closer to him.
As the adventurer spoke of his family, Rimoru noticed the sadness in his voice. "What's wrong, Koryl? You sound...sad..."

Rothargot and Inzikai took off immediately after Cadeyrn told them where they could find Marlene.
"So...Why is Teralynn not in a condition to fight? She is a secret police officer. I'd expect her to fight," snarled Inzikai as they flew towards the capital.
"Later."
Inzikai muttered something under their breath as they moved around the Library, towards a blue house that seemed to be above most of the structures around it. They had decided they will hit the library once darkness settles.
"That's probably it," grumbled Inzikai as they flew towards it.
With a light landing, Inzikai and Rothargot walked towards the door.
"You should knock...look at me, Anyone who see's me would think I'm a zombie," Inzikai said as he spread his arms out, revealing all the blackish blood that stained his black cloak.
"And you think a demon is a more common occurance?" Rothargot asked with an eyebrow raised.
"You're really annoying with your mortal tendencies," Inzikai said as he knocked on the door. Rothargot, however, stayed back, considering that he could not fit in the doorway.

Kalzog laughed quietly. "No it won't...in fact, I want to regain my ego."
As Kalzog said that, he squinted into the distance and noticed Karasu's beautiful figure coming towards them.
"Well, if it ain't little miss Karasu," Kalzog chuckled.
"I was just coming to look for you Karasu, everyone seems to be alright." He reported

"Hello Kalzog. Do you know if everyone is OK? Lorathin was going to come back and let me know. I am glad to see you look just fine." Karasu smiled at the Ogre.
"You know, I am still stunned at Cadey... I just cannot get that out of my head..." She mused almost to herself while shaking her head.
"Do you know if Rimmy is OK?"
Marlene heard the knock at the door and poked her head down from the third story window. Who she saw could have qualified as either: assassins or Cade's new comrads.
"Who is it?" She yelled from the window while grabbing a crossbow.
These are the people who he is associating with? I knew it would be bad, but not this bad. There had to be another way Cadey, there just had to be...

"Tis a shame, he was a good fighter. Not great, like me, but good," Kalzog chuckled referring to Cadeyrn.
"I think everyone is alright, dunno about Rimoru...I never talk to that slut," he replied gruffly.
The girl reeled back as she saw the two figures glance up at her.
Inhuman, demonic even. She thought falling back from the window.
There was a long pause before suddenly the child burst through the front door with a large pack over her shoulder.
"So you're going to help save him?" She asked looking at the strange men/demons. "Then I guess I can trust you."

"Of course, child. You and Cadeyrn will be under the best protection anything can offer," Inzikai said as he put his hand reassuredly on Marlene's shoulder, slowly guiding her to Rothargot, who bowed his head at Marlene.
"Greetings, Marlene. I am Rothargot," he rumbled as he prepared for flight, stretching his wings.
"That is good, it is nice meeting you then; I'll do my best from getting in the way." She said bowing her head to the impressive figures. "Let us get going before trouble arrives."

"Please forgive our haste. Those that want you and Caderyn dead will probably be coming soon," Inzikai said as they took to the air.
"Understandable." Marlene mumbled. "I can't blame them for being mad, but to go so far as to try and kill us."
What will you do next Cadey? Will you turn the world to dust just to live a few more years, or will you betray them and die a hero? This isn't fair.

Soon enough, Rothargot arrived on top of the Library, setting both Marlene and Inzikai down gently, before searching around the hole above the restricted section.
"Where is he?" Rothargot asked as he searched for the fine dust that was Valerith.
"Probably fell in there," Inzikai said as he tossed a silk bag towards the demon. "You could probably fit him in there..."
"Not revive him?" Rothargot asked as he opened the small bag.
"If you find fresh blood, go ahead," Inzikai finally said as he looked out towards the city. It was massive and quite grand, no matter what time of day.
Rothargot nodded as he silently flew into the darkest areas of the restricted section, disappearing from sight.
Inzikai turned towards Marlene and smiled. "So, how did you get to know Cadeyrn?"
"He rescued me a long time ago. Cadey killed an army of 3,000 and his former master just to save me." She said nostalgically. "Why he did that I'll never really know."
The sounds of the that battle still rang fresh in her mind as she could still taste the burning embers of the village. Even though it was her hero that was the one who laid waste to the town. As she thought back to everything he had done the more it became apparent that he might belong in a group like this.
"He's very loyal." She said looking to Inzikai. "Just don't make him mad. For instance, if you try to use me as leverage against him...he will try to kill you and anyone else. Just a cautious warning."
She smiled devilishly at the man hoping that was in fact what would happen.
Cure his disease and then betray him, he'll cut you all down even that demon.

Karasu ran as fast as she could, up the stairs, fearing for Marlene. She remembered the hall her door was in and immediately approached it.
Karasu knocked at the door, and after no response opened it. "Damn it!!!" She yelled seeing the window open.
Karasu ran down the stairs yelling to everyone. "Marlene is gone! She went out the window! There is no way she could do it herself. Cadey and his new buddies must have gotten her!"
Karasu just shook her head, her anger at Cadey growing.
The Blastit Empire

Inzikai returned Marlene's smile. He hated children.
"Now why would we use you as leverage? Cadeyrn is on our side as we are on his. If I betray Cadeyrn, he will be the least of my worries," he replied as he set himself down on the floor, carefully digging out several arrows that embedded themselves inside him from the earlier battle. "I'm beginning to think you don't trust us..."
"Tell me, do you like to read?" Inzikai asked as he looked at the child, playing with a bloodied arrow he just pulled out.

Kalzog raised his eyebrow at Karasu. "Well, he probably didn't want us to use her against him..." he replied quietly. "Do you think Marlene wanted to go with Cadeyrn to the Cult?"

"I think she would go anywhere with Cadey, although I do not think she knows that they will both end up dead. Cadey even said it himself." Karasu said sadly. "I am afraid for her. There is no reason for any of them to keep them alive after Cadey is used for whatever. Marlene is of just about no use to them."
Poor girl.
"I guess we'll have to go after them and rescue her, and get Cadeyrn back where he's suppose to be." Lorathin commented with a yawn.

"I wonder... I do not think Cadey will come back. And I think Marlene may not want to leave Cadey. I know it is for her own good, but just think a second. They will tell Marlene and Cadey we are trying to kill them and all sorts of things." Then she smiled...
"What does Valtrox look like? I can use a jutsu to imitate him perfectly, that is, if he cannot detect it. I could tell him, as V-man, to leave Marlene with us, that she is a nuisance and will get in the way. Inzi will not deny V-man's orders." Karasu smiled.
"I mistrust everyone except for him." She replied sharply wincing as Inzikai dug the arrows out of his skin. "I may be young, but I'm not oblivious as to what is going on, or your orginzation's goals. Personally I don't care, I just want Cadey to be happy."
She sat down indian style across from the evil figure.
"I like reading, but nothing on magic. I prefer books on engineering, mechanics, psyiology, et cetera, et cetera." Marlene said grinning.

After clearing the boat Cadeyrn sat down over looking the vast sea.
I just want to live long enough to see her make good of her life. That's all I ever wanted. She's so smart and pretty she'll grow up to be amazing.
He twirled his throwing sword and tossed it from hand to hand.
The others should have understood that. Do they really think I would settle for a death outside of battle; to waste away like a feeble old man past his days. Kalzog probably knows this. My grave is on the battlefield, and nowhere else.

ooc: Bwahaha!! I have me new lap top!!
Inzikai continued to smile at the girl. "Oh? Tell me you don't believe the propoganda that tends to surround the Cult of Valtrox. It truly is an honorable society where Law reigns supreme and the wicked are brought to justice."
"And have no fear, Cadeyrn will be quite happy with us," Inzikai continued as he pulled out one of his wicked looking daggers. It had a serrated edge, made to hook itself into opponents especially with the added design of a curved blade.
***********************************************************
Rothargot had snuck up behind a bookshelf, as quiet as possible. He had found a small pile of a fine dust. Either it was dust from an unused tomb, ot it was the vampire himself. The prospect of adding blood to tomb dust was quite funny to Rothargot, as he began to laugh as images of Inzikai dropping blood on a pile of dust, shouting curses at the non-existant vampire.
Upon hearing the noise, Rimoru turned her head to examine what made the disturbance.
"Koryl, please get inside the palace. If you are hurt, tell a guard that Rimoru has ordered you to be patched up and given one of the best rooms in the palace. And if you can, please begin to search for Marlene..." Rimoru said in nearly a whisper as she quietly strode towards the disturbance, barefoot.
***********************************************************
Kalzog laughed at Karasu. "As useful as that would be, I dought you could pull off the impression of a god, much less a demi-god. However...that skill would definately come in handy if we were to eavesdrop on one of Inzikai's conversations."
"Your group does evil things, I've seen it for a fact, and you're going to make Cadey do evil things. So can blame me for disliking you that much?" She growled eyeing the dagger.
She sighed deeply lost in thought for a moment.
"This is Cadey's decision though, and as much I dislike it, he always makes the right choice." She forfeited growing frustrated at the situation. "However, if you and the others think for a moment that you'll order em around then you're completely wrong."
"Not bad," Teralynn said as she stepped aboard the ship to inspect Cadeyrn's work. She sent her mind out to check for any survivors.
Satisfied that there were none, she headed in the direction of the captain's cabin. "If you need me, I will be in there."
The cabin was very tiny, given that the ship itself was not so big. It had just enough room for a cramped bed, a small desk, and what felt like only a couple of square feet of walking space. But it was a private space, and it served her.
Teralynn closed the door and crumbled onto the bed, balling up into a fetal position again as the pain was almost overwhelming.
She wished she had some of that potion and salve that Maverion pilfered back at the palace, but she lost everything in her pack when the carpet took a nose dive for the ground before Rothargot rescued her. She just had to make do with nothing.

Inzikai was growing annoyed at the girl.
"Oh? From what I've seen and heard, Cadeyrn is loyal to his team. We are his team. And I, am the leader," Inzikai said with a cocky smile.
"Evil is all in perspective, Marlene. What the Order says is evil, is not always evil. For example, a farmer who can't pay his taxes in the Imperium, escapes to the Order. The Imperium demands justice, yet the Order gives him shelter, believing the thief to be good. See? All perspective. Trust me, Marlene. When you see the glory that will be the Cult, you'll be living the life of a queen..."
"Now...where is Rothargot?" Inzikai growled as he began to flip the dagger in the air.
"Marlene, you told me you liked to read mechanikal books and the such. You do know that Rimoru has a college of that? Her aide, Mebbiwik was a headmaster of that school for a long time until he became one of the Empress' advisers. Smart gnome he is. He invented the shredder along with the steam rifle, a strange device, like a bow and arrow. Something to do with steam building up pressure and launching a small pellet far away at skin puncturing speeds. Strange stuff it is..."
***********************************************************
Rothargot picked up the tile that Valerith's ashes sat on top of and poured it into the silk bag. "Not the proper way for a lord to travel," he whispered to himself as he stretched his wings and looked to the sky.
"Rothy?" came a tiny voice, somewhat scared.
Immediately, Rothargot turned towards the voice, only to see Rimoru, slowly come out of hiding. "Rimoru," he rumbled sadly.
"Rothy...I...I don't know what to say..." she began to cry. "You've stolen my Cadey, you've ruined my Library, you've...done so much damage..."
"No my love. These were not my decisions...these were the decisions of Valtrox," he replied, flapping his wings slowly.
"Rothy...did you atleast love me?"
Rothargot closed his wings and walked to the sobbing empress. Carefully, he put his arms around her, holding her close. "Of course Rimmy...of course," he replied. If he were any bit a mortal, tears would have been coming out of his eyes as well.
Marlene smiled raising an eyebrow back at Inzikai.
"In case you haven't noticed but Cadeyrn is loyal to me above all else, and he's proven that a number of times." She teased while grabbing a wrench from the bag and tapping the roof.
"Not a perspective, closer to subjective." She replied with a shapr tongue. "What the order does to the farmer is make him a slave to their will and put his immortal soul into debt. The fact that Valtrox is the lord of Chaos is evil in it self. Chaos being nihilism and nihilism being destructive. Destruction for the most part, is evil."
She tossed the wrench back into the bag stroked her long brown hair.
"I hate queens, especially Rimoru." She giggled. "Let me apologize for antagonizing, but I don't take kindly to anyone who hires my Cadey. However, for his services you seem to be taking good care of him so I must thank you."
"As for those pressurized guns..." She paused putting on a pair of fake glasses before continuing. "I can probably make improvements to them."

Inzikai smiled widely, revealing his row of unnaturally sharp teeth. "My, you are a smart one," he replied.
"Although, Valtrox is not exactly the god of Chaos. Ogruk is, which, if you know Kalzog, you'll probably know of him. But, you are not entirely wrong. Ogruk and Valtrox sometimes goes hand in hand. Wait until Kalzog summons one of his minions...he'll find that the minions can easily be turned against him."
"So, considering Rimoru hired your Cadeyrn, and you despise her...I'm detecting more than a friendly relationship between you and the warrior," laughed Inzikai.
"Nontheless, I'm certain you could improve on those designs...the gnome is a bit...absent minded at most times..."
***********************************************************
Rothargot slowly backed away, once again opening his wings.
"You will be back, right Rothy?" Rimoru asked, tears slowly dropping down her face.
"I hope so, my love," he replied before soaring back towards the whole.
Rimoru watched him until he disappeared, before continuing to walk deeper into the library, assessing the damage. Suddenly, she came to a limp greenish object underneath some rubble. The empress lifted the rubble off with her magic and noticed Maverion.
"Mave! Maverion!" Rimoru shrieked, immediately feeling along the dead man. Arrows had punctured his skin, which was unbelievably cold. His body was stiff and his eyes closed.
"Mave," she cried, holding him tightly. Her mind flew through different spells until she came to one she did very few times. She closed her eyes and brought her full lips to Maverion's cold ones. She kissed him, in much the same way she did with Lorathin, however she transfered much more life rather than magic to him. She could only hope this worked...
"Most people underestimate me because I'm young." She grinned pushing the glasses back against her face.
"The ogre quite capable of being clever. He probably knows how he's going to fight you and what needs to be done for victory." Marlene said while remembering Kalzog's sneaky switch.
"One day we will, but for now I hate her because of her arrogance. Flaunting herself around like a whore for sale...nevermind she does her job quite well." The young girl mused while inspecting a strange gadget she brought with her. "As for her smartass gnome I could do much better than that pompous bastard. I also dislike gnomes in case you haven't noticed."
"What do you think of Ar'mai?" Marlene asked
Master...that had a nice ring to it. Teralynn could get used to being called that.
She shifted in her bed. The warmth of her body was quickly heating the down that the bed was made of, and she had to change positions to find a cooler spot for at least a small measure of relief from the intense heat.
Closing her eyes, she hoped to catch at least some rest and respite from her pains.
***
Mave was as silent, cold, and unmoving as before. The husk that was his body as devoid of the spark of life as ever.
But then a warmth began to emanate from him, and a tinge of green began to flush under his olive skin. Fresh blood began trickling out of his wounds.
In a few more seconds, Maverion's eyes shot wide open and he gasped deeply for air, as someone just surfacing from deep down in an abyss of water would. He began shaking violently, a cold sweat soon breaking out as he wild eyes looked around, as if he did not recognize anything around him.

"What's that?" Inzikai asked as Marlene began to fiddle with a strange object.
Then, Marlene asked about his feelings on the elf.
Inzikai immediately lost his smile. "Why do you ask that?" he asked quietly, putting his dagger within a hidden pouch.
Suddenly, Rothargot's fiery form soared out of the hole, and landed nearby. He held out the bag of ashes for Inzikai to hold.
"So...did you see Maverion?" Inzikai asked, still slightly surprised by Marlene's question.
"No. His body was more likely covered by rubble," Rothargot replied quietly. "Let us fo, before Sarik has time to round of his group and give chase."
Marlene twisted the object as it sprouted rotters and began hovering. It was square and about seven inches on each length. Suddenly it just dropped and Marlene began cursing lobbing the thing into the hole.
"Well we know who Cadey's weakness is..." She began chuckling until Roth's fiery entrance cut her off.

"Cadeyrn's weakness? You?" Inzikai asked as Rothargot walked to them, picking Marlene up and wrapping his tail around Inzikai in one swift movement.
"Time is of the essence," he growled as he once again took off to the sky, towards the ship that should now be theirs.

Rimoru smiled as Maverion got up. "Mavey! You're back! It worked!" she cried out for joy, wrapping her arms around him and smothering him in kisses.
Lorathin had since fallen asleep while the others talked. Sleep was the best way to rebuild reserves which he severly needed to do.
"It should pretty obvious how much he is willing to sacrifice; that's why he's my champion. However, between you and Ar'mai is a little less simple no?" She questioned before hopping into the demon's arms.
I hope you know what you're doing Cadeyrn.

The mercenary sat in front of the door over looking the endless sea. Aside from the sporadic limb it was quite serene. After a good fat kill everything becomes more peaceful, his mind was picking up as his body was slowing down.
Good, Evil? Is there any difference between the two. Maybe it isn't so black and white. Marlene, the most innocent among us, has sided with us. Kalzog, the most brutal among us, has sided with good. Where does that put me as a man just wanting to live long enough to see his love grow?
Slwoly he tilted his head forward and drifted asleep.
Maverion's shattered bones were slowing knitting back together and the arrow wounds began closing, his skin healing around the shafts of the arrows, as the affects of the spell of life slowly continued its work on his body. The pain was intense all throughout, but instead of screaming, all the resurrected Maverion could do was struggle to breathe, wheezing loudly as he fought to get air in his lungs.
The use of the dangerous spell was not without repercussions on Maverion, as he seemed unable to interact with the outside world. His eyes just continued looking wildly about, as if unable to comprehend what was happening.

ooc: Bwahaha!! I have me new lap top!!
<snip>
Kalzog laughed at Karasu. "As useful as that would be, I dought you could pull off the impression of a god, much less a demi-god. However...that skill would definately come in handy if we were to eavesdrop on one of Inzikai's conversations."
ooc: Good! Using a Playstation? Yeeks!
"And Kalzog, why could I not pull it off? You know nothing about me, or my past you know... I could pull off the impression. I could be ugly Inzi," Karasu said as she turned into a perfect replica of Inzi including voice and voice inflections. Then she began speaking in his voice mocking him: "I am the all powerful slave boy Inzikai! All bow before my master, the V-man before he kicks your ass!"
Then she mocked him picking up a mirror as Inzi and began another joke:
"Oh, aren't I pretty? I love my new transformation. How could any woman resist me now?" 'Inzi' fluttered his eyelids, as he had no lashes.
Then she got serious and looked at them with the same look Inzi looked at his enemies. "Don't listen to them Marlene. They just want to kill you and Cadey. They would kidnap you to use you for advantage against your Cadey. That Rimoru you dislike so much. Don't put it past her. They'll do anything to get Cadey and you out of our hands, where you are safe, including kill you." 'Inzi' glared.
Then Karasu changed back to her form, standing there in her nightgown.
"Give me a vision of Valtrox, and I can mimic him as well. You see, I am in a condition that actually made me forget of my jutsu in the library fight." Karasu looked down. "I apologize for that. It would have been helpful."
She said this, as she became 100 Karasus, all solid, not merely shadow people, all acting on their own, surrounding everyone, all talking to each other and those in the hall. It was impossible to tell which Karasu was the real Karasu. When the Karasus disappeared, there was NO Karasu. Then a brick popped out of the wall and formed into Karasu in her gown. "Could have been useful, ne?" She sighed.
"To be honest, I think Marlene probably has her shit together better than Cadey. I fear both will become casualties when Inzi is done with them, but we cannot drag Marlene away. It will only reinforce what Inzi and his shitheads are telling her."
Karasu noticed her language getting worse than most the demons she met.
"Please excuse my language. I tend to release my anger that way." Karasu informed them.
"So we have to come up with a plan... or we have to leave it up to Marlene."
Karasu sighed... "There is then the fact that Rimoru seems to be on the fence..." That distressed her most.

Kalzog furrowed his brows at Karasu's imitations.
"No, Karasu...You can't," Kalzog growled. "Do you not think others have tried? Whenever you do that, Valtrox seems to know, and each time I've seen a brother attempt it, whether a joke, whether to see how it's like, whether it's for stealth, they all disentigrate within the first minute of transformations."
"You may be able to imitate Inzikai...but you don't fool anyone but a fool himself. All the leaders of the cult have a strange aura, one that no one can replicate. You don't believe me? I would know, because I was one of them!" he shouted in anger, immediately bowing his head to show Karasu something.
"Karasu, it is you who has no idea what I've been through, my life, Look here, Karasu, look here and see the torture that is me," he pointed to a large elegant tattoo. Yet when looked at close enough, one could definately define the sign of Valtrox. And even deeper, three bloody scabsm evenly spaced apart...three horns...
"Do not even doubt me, Karasu," Kalzog warned as he got back up, his eyes a bright red. "Although I know nothing of you, I know a lot of Valtrox..."
***********************************************************
"Mavey! Look at me! Look at me!" Rimoru ordered, gripping Maverion's chin and pointing it in her direction. "Mavey, talk to me...please..."

Sarik finally approached the others in his full armor, his white robe trailing behind him.
"Nice to see all of you here," he mumbled before standing before all of them.
"My mission was to stop Inzikai from taking the book...and yet he has taken it, which could resolve as the end of the free world. Now, I have heard he is at the docks, preparing to leave across the Lustrian Sea and go back to Zlatlan to begin the summoning."
"My mission was failed. Yet, I believe it is now my mission to find him and retake the book. If I die, that will be alright, because I will have died with the knowledge of the book being destroyed."
"But what about all of you? I will not force any of you to come with me, but whoever will come will be greatly appreciated. I will need all the help I can get..."
Kalzog turned his red eyes to Sarik. "Lizard, I have a score to settle. Of course I'll come with you."

"Well Kalzog, that is what I asked in the first place: Could Valtrox tell the difference, or the others. Thank you for answering. Then I will not attempt it." Karasu answered. "It is that simple."
"Sarik, I do not believe I am any use to you, or anyone for that matter. Nor have I been or I would come along. Apparently all our enemies can detect every single thing I can do and can counter every single attack I have. So I am completely useless, otherwise I would love to help. Apparently I have no worthy power at all in any way shape or form. Everyone can beat me, otherwise I would come. I wanted to come. I thought my jutsu could be of some help, but apparently that is of no help either. That figures. No matter what I can do, EVERYONE can counter it. Why did someone not tell me to just go the fuck home a long time ago."
Karasu turned around and walked the other way. I am going to fly home and have nothing more to do with any of these people or this situation. I have been nothing but a useless waste of space, taking up oxygen that could go to those who have attacks that work. She mused angrily. She was completely useless. Even with her jutsu. Figures something would come up to block that as well. Well fuck it.
Maybe we all feel a bit useless, even when we are most useful. Cadey, don't let your fate lure you into the shadows; embrace your destiny and be remembered through the girl.
Father?
My you've grown up so strong and handsome. I know you'll do the right thing son, and trust me, when you do...it'll be worth it.
Mother!?
Yeah needle noggin don't let your anger consume you. You are fearless because you know that it will only affect you. However, your wrath will take her with you...
Opp, you old fart...
Suddenly Cadeyrn flashed awake startled.

Harlin made a show of looking Sarik up and down. He had already made the decision to fight, but felt the drama would make it easier for the others to accept the plan. Show support but not over-readily.
Finally, he nodded. "I'll help you Sarik. The future of the world is more important than my life, if not the rest of ours as well."
Shara came and stood by Harlin. "I'll join you. Perhaps I could even persuade my Sisters in Holicon City to join the effort. They are powerful healers, and it is rumored that the High Mother can call Westera's Will to smite opponents. This has never been observed, even in my extended time on this Earth."
Suddenly, Minos stumbled in the door. Tumbling over, he came to rest in a heap on the floor. He lay on his back on the floor between Sarik and the rest of the group. "I over heard you in the hall. I, too, will join the fight. Then, when we have won through to absolute victory, perhaps you will return the favor Sarik, and help me to find the Scrolls of Arcturus?"

Koryl trailed off, unsure of how to finish. This was not a feeling he often spoke about.
~~~~~~~
Noting Rimoru's effort to keep quiet, Koryl simply nodded in thanks instead of speaking. He got carefully to his feet and slipped out of the library. He had sustained no serious injuries, and, though food and rest would help him recover from the impact, first he wanted to find the ogre.
Rimoru shook her head slowly as Maverion didn't seem to know what was going on. She pulled out a small communication crystal and immediately called for a medic to arrive, making sure to tell them where to go and what to do. She would have their mind erased later...
Rimoru walked out of the restricted section, only to see Sarik addressing the others in the distance. Then, Karasu began to leave.
This seems the best time for me to apologize to her...but I don't know what she'll do Rimoru thought as she summoned a sheild around her, just in case Karasu attempted to kill her, the empress, for doing what she did to Relthor.
Rimoru walked outside and immediately darted around various statues and artwork, to intercept Karasu. Finally, as the assassin was about to walk out into the lobby, Rimoru came out in front of her.
"Karasu! Please forgive me! I was listening to what I thought was my conscience, but it wasn't, it was actually one of Valtrox's minions, and I had no idea what I was doing! Are you alright, Karasu? Relthor told me about you carrying his child and I wanted to know if you both are alright-You and the child of course, I already spoke with Relthor and he didn't seem to like me anymore, but I don't blame him because," Rimoru spoke rapidly, increasing speed as she spoke, trying to explain herself to her old friend. In fact, she was speaking so rapidly in the end, one could barely understand her.
"How much longer till we're there?" Marlene asked Roth wanting to take a nap. Despite being a massive demon, he was quite comfortable.
Sarik was startled at Karasu's response, and meant to run after her to persuade her otherwise, however she stormed out of the room, plus, he did not want to leave the others as he awaited their responses.
Sarik nodded to Harlin. "Thank you, Harlin."
Suddenly, Minos stumbled into the room. Immediately, Sarik rushed to his side as the elementalist spoke up, as well as Shara. "Thank you three, for accepting to aid in my burden...Minos, I will do so if I can."
Then, Sarik looked at Ar'mai and Lorathin, whom Kalzog shook awake. "Are you guys willing to come with me to stop Inzikai?"
"I was wondering if I had enough time for a nap." She replied exhaustedly.
As Karasu was about to walk out, Rimmy popped up in front of her talking much faster than usual, as if she had to get in every word in 30 seconds.
"Rimmy, please listen to everything I have to say." Karasu looked at her sadly. "Rimmy, it felt like a knife in my heart when I saw you take Relthor, and the evil, nasty look on your face was shocking." She continued.
"However, I was with Lorathin when he tried to contact you. He said one of Valtrox’s flunkies possessed you, and he could not get through to you in any way. I do not blame you. Initially it hurt, because I did not know, but let me tell you, Valtrox is a bastard. He is trying to tear apart our alliance."
Karasu sighed. "I am quite beat up... actually I believe I died, and was brought back. The baby is OK. Rimoru, if no one told you what Cadey did, I will. He switched sides and pledged allegiance to Valtrox. It was not a ruse. He is the one who nearly killed me. They took Marlene, who went willingly, I am sure, however, I think she has more common sense than he does.
"I-I-I just cannot believe he just betrayed us all and tried to kill my baby and me." Karasu looked down.
"Rimoru, I do not blame you since I knew the truth." Karasu hugged her friend.
"I think I will go tell the others I will go with them. They need all the help they can get."
Karasu began to walk away and turned as she was speaking "Do not worry. There is nothing to worry about. You do not have to worry about being forgiven, as there is nothing left to forgive!" She smiled at Rimmy, then turned and walked away back toward the rest of the group.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Karasu approached the group. "I was about to leave. You see, I am of no use to anyone in combat, but rethinking all of it, I am. I changed my mind and I will go, if you will have me. After the things Valtrox has done so far, I will use my fists if I must!
"Sarik, I am with you... all of you." Karasu sighed. I just hope Inzi or his minions do not toy with Marlene's mind, however, we cannot tear her from Cadey. It will prove to her that Inzi was right. She is a brilliant girl, and I have a feeling she will come to the right conclusion eventually, even if Cadey does not." She stated.
"So, what is the plan and when do we leave. I just need to change into my battle clothing. It will take about 5 minutes." Karasu was still wearing the nightgown. She did not fear for herself, but for her child.
Karasu prayed that her child would be safe, but refused to let him grow up in a world run by Valtrox.

But, due to his teachings, he only bowed his head with a smile. "However, I will keep you protected as best I can. I would not want you to see too much action, for the baby's life."

Looking over her shoulder at Kalzog, she replied, "If someone decides to fight me because I look like you, I think I will make myself look like some skinny ill man and fall on the ground as if dead!" Karasu laughed.
For some reason, although many despised Kalzog, and for good reason; ogres have some nasty habits, Kalzog always made her laugh and was one who she could count on to bring her mood up and she appreciated him for that. However, she would not stand by and watch him try to devour a child.
Thankfully she never had to witness the bad side of Kalzog, other than maybe a bad mood.
"Thank you both very much, I'll take her from here." He thanked before gently removing the girl from the demon's arms. He headed below deck to the worker's quarters and placed her on a cot.

Teralynn's rest was fitful at best, and she did not mind going back out into the colder air of outside.
"Thank you," she said to Cadeyrn in passing as she opened the door. She still had her cloak on, despite the fact that it was attributing to her unwanted warmth. It kept the book she was holding onto hidden and safe, though, and that was what mattered most.
Looking up into the sky in the direction of the distant palace, she noticed a form flying toward them as well.
When they landed, she just kept silent and watched what was going on.

The medics Rimoru summoned brought Maverion to a small room where they could treat him without interruptions from the outside world.
The most obvious wounds on the man were the arrows sticking out of him, which his flesh and skin had somehow healed over, making the task of removing them all the more difficult. When they pulled the arrows out of Mave as carefully as possible, and more green blood began flowing out, Maverion was still in no condition to scream, or even to understand the pain that was coursing through his body.

Teralynn did not exactly want to give the book over to Inzikai. After all, she was the one who smuggled the book safely out of the library. Inzikai was the one who left it on the ground. Who knew what could have happened to it during the battle had it stayed there? It was her success, not his.
But, she knew it was pointless to refuse, at least, while he was still stronger than her, and so she handed the book over to the lizard without saying a word.

"Ahh, Teralynn...you've done well. Perhaps I shall have you take Maverion's place," Inzikai mumbled as he looked at the black tome.
"You know, I may become a demi-god when I tell him I have the book," he continued as he walked around the deck.
"Cadeyrn, set sail for home, Zlatlan!"
Rothargot only watched the mortals with curiousity.
"Yes master." Cadeyrn replied as he gracefully twisted and pulled on several of the ropes strewn about the ship. "Someone will have to take the helm while I manage this."
Inzikai seems to have forgotten about everyone else here. Including Roth...oh well I figured as much.

"Helm?" Rothargot asked as he walked towards Cadeyrn. "What's that and how do you 'take it'"?
"It would be an honor," Teralynn said with a slight bow of her head, hiding well her displeasure at Inzikai taking credit for what she did and potentially getting the rewards she deserved. But all she could do was bide her time.
She looked over at the mercenary, wondering if he had any experience with ships. This was no rowboat, after all. She certainly had no clue how to get a ship going. It had something to do with a sail and oars and a rudder, but that was the extent of her knowledge, as she never had any reason to be on a ship before.
To her, a helm was the type of helmet knights wore.
"The steering wheel" Cadeyrn said chuckling while hanging upside down pulling on a group of ropes as the sail shifted slightly.

Rothargot looked around until he found the wheel that Cadeyrn seemed to be talking about. He put his hand on it and was about to take it off, when Inzikai stopped him.
"Turn it, like this," he growled, his patience already gone with the demon. He turned it slightly as Rothargot watched.
"Mortal transportation is strange," Rothargot returned as he imitated Inzikai's movements.
"Where's the captain's quarters?" Inzikai asked as he walked towards Cadeyrn.
The physicians patched Maverion's new wounds up as best they could, and after a while, his shaking died down and he seemed to have fallen asleep. With little else to do, they left, leaving one to stay and watch over their care.
"Through the door behind the steering wheel," He replied landing on the deck while tieing various ropes.

"Everything is just fine."
Inzikai might not even mention her part in retrieving the book, Teralynn figured as she watched him go into the room in the back. She carefully moved toward the prow of the ship, still trying to get her sea legs, and looked out over the waters. There, she fumed.

Shara looked down at Minos lying in pain and immobility on the ground. Kneeling down she said a short prayer to Westera and held her hands over his chest. The pain eased as the damage done to him by the impact of Rothargot was healed.
Sitting up, he thanked Shara.
Shara smiled at him, "No need to thank me Minos. Thank Westera, She did all the real work."
Minos, whose head was down, looked at her from the tops of his eyes. "I will the next time I see her..."
Shara gave him a quizzical look, and then stood back up and returned to Harlin's side. Minos joined her after a moment of stretching, taking a place on Harlin's other side.

Karasu wanted to speak with Lorathin, however, she was reluctant to wake him up. Especially after his comment to Kalzog. She decided to let him have some much deserved sleep.
Karasu stuck close to Sarik, so she would get the plan right from the source.

ooc: Tnx a bunch. I'll remember the post number links next time.
Inzikai turned back towards Cadeyrn, snapping back to reality. "Well...Sure," Inzikai replied quietly, before stepping into the room.
Rothargot watched himself move the steering wheel, wondering why he had to do so. He watched as a movement would change the direction they were going. As he let his eyes wander across the boat, his eyes rested on Teralynn, who seemed to be quite mad.
"What ails you, Tera?" he rumbled across the deck.
***********************************************************
"I suppose we go to the Sea Port," Kalzog grumbled, showing clear discomfort about the idea. "After we get Sarik, of course..."
***********************************************************
"I understand, Karasu. If Valtrox ruled the world...I'd rather be dead..." Sarik replied sadly. "Still, I will remain close by should you need anything. Shara and Ar'mai are better healers than I, but I can deal with the minor things easily.
"Thank you." Cadeyrn replied leaving his sword outside the captain's room and proceeding in.
Now let me see the devil's face.

Immediately, Inzikai set to work. He took off his robe and brought out his knife, gently scraping away a few of the scabs. He let the blood pour into a small bowl before creating a large circle with it, along with the horned symbol on the inside.
"You must remain in here,"Inzikai mumbled quietly, his eyes closed as he kneeled down on the hard floor, right in the middle. "You must believe in Valtrox...I don't have any of the ingredients needed for non-believers...But, I would suspect you believe, am I right?"
"My future is dependent on his existance and his support. I have seen what his powers have wraught. I believe." Cadeyrn replied sharply thinking of Marlene and the grey skin slowly eating away at his hand.

"Then do as I do, and if Valtrox orders it, do what he orders," Inzikai replied as he motioned for Cadeyrn to kneel inside the circle.
"Kneel," Inzikai commanded quietly as soon as Cadeyrn got inside the bloody circle.
Cadeyrn mimiced Inzikai's exact movements.
"Taking orders is my living." He said kneeling.
The Blastit Empire

Inzikai mumbled a small chant, before the two of them were engulfed in a greenish haze, with a slight tint of red.
As soon as the small bubble dissolved, the smell of brimstone, smog, and ash was blasted into their faces.
"This is all in our heads, Cadeyrn. Our bodies remain in the mortal plane, but do not get killed here. You will only leave a braindead corpse behind as your mind rots in eternal suffering..."
Inzikai looked up to find that they had been teleported to a throne chamber.
Sitting on top of a large throne of skulls, was a large cloaked figure.
"Inzikai and...Cadeyrn, is it?" hissed the cloaked figure, his body completely shrouded in darkness.
"We only wish to see the almighty one."
"Of courssse...why else would you be here? Not to see me, no doubt," he chuckled evily. "Follow me...or not...that is your decision."
Inzikai bowed as he got up. "Do not speak with him...that is Habdebza, feared assassin and manipulater...only recieves his orders from Valtrox himself and takes several liberties in killing some of Valtrox's followers he dislikes..."
Cadeyrn had only seen such decadent display of gore and crude slaughter once before at the aftermath of a raid on a Monster's Lair. No one survived from that detachment and by the time he had arrived the demon was gone, leaving behind the riches of the bloodbath.
The mercenary bowed with Inzikai and followed step by step with his new master.
The place reeks of death, the wrong kind of death. Too many people died unwanting here; too many decent people. But it was hot, and nothing drove the Berzerker's blood like the stencth of killing and flames.
"Impressive." He said quietly to his mortal master beside him.
I wonder what kind of assassin sits beside his master rather than out serving them. Unless to be closer to their next target.
Caderyn grinned at the corner of his mouth.
No longer needing to hide the book, Teralynn took her cloak off and allowed the cold breeze to lower her body temperature.
"I do not know what you are talking about," she said to Rothargot in a voice just loud enough for the light wind to carry the sound back to the demon near the back of the ship. "Other than this blasted fire in me. How long did you say it will take for everything to finish changing in me?"

"Valtrox has been anticipating your arrival, Inzikai, however, Cadeyrn will be a pleasant surprise," Habdebza snickered, skimming Inzikai's mind for any useful information. Each step of the demon assassin brought a deadly metallic sound.
"How is Rothargot?" Habdebza asked as they traversed passages.
"Good...I didn't know you were interested in your comrades-"
"You don't know anything...Rothargot and I have a deep rivalry...I only await the proper time where I can give him my thoughts," Habdebza growled as turned around, a long thin sword already pointed at Inzikai's neck. A small trickle of blood began to drip from the blade.
Just as suddenly, the blade retracted into the cloak. "You're lucky Valtrox finds use of you..." Habdebza chuckled before continuing on.
Suddenly, the three of them came to a large platform, an ocean of lava underneath and in front of them.
"Kneel," Inzikai gasped, taking his hand away from his neck wound.
"Valtrox, you have visitors," Habdebza called out.
***********************************************************
"Anywhere from a week to several years," Rothargot replied. "You will grow used to it. You are only just given the gifts. Once Valtrox finds out about the book, he may increase the growth."
"Tera...have you ever sailed before?" Rothargot asked as he looked around the sea around them.
Several years!? Tera was not quite prepared to hear that estimate. Hopefully increasing the growth rate did not likewise increase the pain.
"Never," she said in response to Rothargot's question. "And I can only assume that you have not as well. Why? You need some help?"
As the demon's blade inched into Inzikai's neck Cadeyrn only had his hand a quarter of the way towards his blade. The mercenary retracted his movement when he saw the attack was not lethal.
Son a bitch is fast, faster than I can even see, had I not predicted his movement a second beforehand; I wouldn't even have reacted at all.
Cadeyrn's smile grew even bigger.
"Yes, master." He replied kneeling and lifting his head just enough to see straight.

"Not so much help, but I would like to enjoy the scenary," Rothargot said he spun the wheel in random directions, not knowing any better. "But...I still don't get the steering thing..."
***********************************************************
Well well well...Inzikai has returned...with the book I presume? boomed Valtrox's voice, as the lava began to gurgle underneath them. Habdebza slowly lowered himself until his cloak was spread evenly around his still form.
"I have master. It was a tough battle, but I have it..."
Yes you have it...but I believe Tera was the one who retrieved it.
"She ran from the battle with it, your mightiness, if I had done so as-"
Silence! Valtrox's voice boomed, shaking the walls, loosening some rocks. Who is this you have with you?
"Cadeyrn, my lord. He wishes to serve under you with dedication and loyalty. He will make a fine addition to our-"
Let him speak for himself...
Inzikai nodded and looked at Cadeyrn.
Slowly and uncertain he stood facing the god terrified. Immediately he recollected his figure before he spoke.
"I am Cadern Brahn, last of the Dragoons, and loyal to your cause." The mercenary said masking the shock in his voice with obedience.
He would until ordered to kneel again.
I have never bee more scared in my life, nothing compares to this feeling. Part of me wants to run away, but the other part has my feet locked in place. I promised I'd portect you Marlene, at all costs.

The young girl grabbed the steering wheel smiling at the demon.
"You turn the wheel left as a rotor at the bottom of the boat slants with it, making the water current from the movement of the boat push it slightly in that direction." She said looking up at Roth. "I couldn't help but notice you were about to turn us around."
"I think I can figure that out," Teralynn said as she approached Rothargot from the bow of the ship. She knew that the wheel controlled some sort of paddle thing that would steer the ship, but never really bothered to learn much more about the mechanics behind it. It might actually be fun.

The Dragoons? Why would a Dragoon fight for me? It was you and your pitiful masters who prevented my previous escape. growled the voice as it began to rise from the lava, the massive three horned draconian head that the god was famous for.
Don't rise unless I say so, mortal...

Rothargot only raised an eyebrow at Marlene before smiling to her. "I thought you were asleep," he rumbled quietly.
Rothargot smiled as he let Teralynn and Marlene "take the helm". Slowly, he made his way to the side, looking down into the water. His wings flapped quietly in excitement as he watched the water lap up against the boat.
"Many thanks, Tera and Marlene. Have you ever thought a swim might take your mind off your pain?" he asked as he smiled at the reflection in the water.
Cadeyrn knelt back to the ground with his head lowered.
"My previous masters, the dragons, proved incompotent and traitorous. One I am certain I killed with my bare hands and the other a cowardly pacifist." The human replied sharply. "The rest of my kind fell to their pathetic ways, and I will not follow suit."

"It's pretty hard to stay asleep with the two of you moving about." She said while yawning.
Teralynn watched the girl take over the wheel and explained about the rudder and how it steered the ship. She seemed to know a lot for a kid. Not too polite to her elders, though.
"Then the boat would sail on by without me if I did," she said to Rothargot.

I admire this decision...however don't count the dragons out yet. I need your answer: If the dragons begin to fight...would you join them...or join me?
***********************************************************
"I think you just can't keep your mind from racing...thinking up new inventions," Rothargot replied, still smiling, but facing Marlene and Tera at the helm.
"Oh? I can always retrieve you," Rothargot replied to Teralynn, flapping his wings.
"I think I will be fine," Teralynn said, glancing out into the waters. The cold water would be nice, but somehow, the water repulsed her. "And who knows what trash those port towns throw out into these waters. This is probably their only source of sanitation."
She looked over at Marlene, arching an eyebrow. "You are an inventor?"
"I have killed dragons before." He responded without hesitation. "I have no reason to continue my life in servitude under them. I have decided to put my blade to use for a worthy master."

"You make it sound like such a bad thing Rothargot." She commented running to the railing looking over the sea. "If anyone did fall over we would have to lower the sails via all those ropes and levers. Personally I don't how the hell they work individually."
She turned towards Tera and smiled.
"I make various gadgets and devices." The young girl boasted. "I've been making things since I was 7."
"Impressive..." Teralynn commented. Although, Tera wondered if those gadget and devices Marlene made as a seven-year-old were of any real consequence. A simply wheel could fall into the category of rudimentary mechanical devices, after all.
"My best creation so far was the attachment on Cadey's arm. In fact, I was the one who designed his metal arm, Opprimus made it, but the design was mine." She boasted staring down Tera's doubts.
Here we are, at the ends of the world, with the most sinister of company. You promised me you were going to protect me forever; through any means. If you die then I'll go with you.
The young girl turned smiling with tears still fresh in her eyes.
"Anyway, how does Inzikai intend to save my Cadey?" She asked cheerfully.

"Sarik, I understand your concern, but do not concern yourself with me. You have a serious mission to carry out and cannot be worrying about others, although I appreciate the gesture." Karasu smiled thankfully at Sarik.
"You so remind me of another I know. So kind. Do not concern yourself with staying close to me. Your mission is your priority, not me. Plus, I can kick some ass! Now that I remember my powers." Karsu chuckled.
"Please stop worrying about me, and concern yourself with the mission. It is most important. If we fail, we all suffer, and all of us in particular will probably be tortured and eventually killed. So you see, " she looked at him kindly, "you forgetting about my safety is the best way to help me."
Karasu smiled... it was a smile that was one of gratitude and thankfulness. Her face showed she felt him such a kind soul.

Rothargot looked at Marlene, his stony face slowly becoming its usual stoic impression. "Inzikai has only the power to destroy, Marlene. Valtrox can save Cadeyrn, in several different ways. I believe Cadeyrn is strong enough to survive the worst of those ways."
"Absent-mindedness can cause injury, yet it can also bring brilliant ideas. I only want you to be careful," Rothargot replied to Marlene's earlier comment.

Very good...you will find that I am quite worthy...but are you? I would like to make a deal with you, came the fiery dragon's response.

In upper Zlatlan, very swampy, very dangerous. It feasters with disease, myrhlings, rat men, elves, and others...
We believe they are building their own militia. Not only that, but they have also been known to follow the teachings of a dragon. Not a well known dragon, mind you, but one trying to make a name for himself. Make sure that dragon remains nameless and give those residents a lesson, Valtrox said as a smile curled up on his face, his massive teeth glistening with fire. Then, you will become one of mine. And if you do well enough...perhaps a small gift of appreciation.

Rothargot looked at Teralynn for some help in the matter, unsure of what the child was doing, what she was feeling. Rimoru had done it before to him, but that was in love.

Not much intellegence: no numbers, observations, or even any entrenchments. Whatever, a small militia is nothing to pose a threat against me. As for the dragon, I've killed better.

Leave that to Inzikai, came Valtrox's response, as he lifted his massive hand, carefully pulling Inzikai by his cloak. How is my gift working?
"It is quite well, my master. The pain has...stemmied...and I feel more powerful than I ever have..."
Excellent. Now leave me. Make sure everything goes to plan, as I would be quite angry should it not...
"Do not worry, my master. We have already began the journey across the Lustrian Sea. No one will be able to catch us, should they leave from the same docks, and certainly not Sarik."
It would have been nice to have captured the paladin...but that is no matter for now. Leave me... With that, Valtrox slowly sank back into the lava filled ocean.
"That went pretty well," came the strange voice of the cloaked figure as it slowly rose.

"Karasu, I would like you to...keep others away from me if you see this happening. I would like you to alert the proper authorities. If it get's bad enough, if I begin to attack us, our allies, or our people...I want you to get someone to kill me," Sarik said, holding tightly on Karasu's shoulders

And, with the knowledge that you are going into the unknown, to battle the unknown, I would like you to have this," she said rapidly and excitedly. She pulled out a pendant to be worn like a necklace, a large round stone on it.
"It's a sheild, impervious to nearly anything. But be warned, it is not permanent and must be activated by you imagining the sheild around you. It wears you out quickly so only use it if you have no other way out. Any powerful blow will send you to your knees, however, very weak and tired. With that, Rimoru slowly turned around and walked away, towards the medical area.

"I have a favor to ask of you." She told Lorathin. "Something is wrong with Sarik, and he is worried. I will do all I can to help him should this occur, however, your magic will likely be more effective." Karasu paused. "Could you please do this? And do not say a word to him. He is so kind, and I believe he is humiliated that this is happening to him. Do you know what could cause this? It started when he was a child, and he has been able to control it for the most part until now."
Karasu was very concerned about Sarik, and hoped Lorathin could help.

Lorathin smiled at her comment about Kalzog. "Ya, I heard you mention that." He replied when she pulled out the pendant. "Interesting, I don't think I've ever seen one quite like that."
As they talked, he managed to get them both walking in the right direction, that of the direction of the kitchen. He listened with interest as she spoke of Sarik. "It sounds like berzerkerism, and I'm not sure how much I can help. It would all depend on whether it it berzerkerism or not, and how much control Sarik has. If he was willing to submit to a few tests I might be able to tell if I could help."
"You do have free will you know." She said sadly. "Not everything you do has to have an original purpose or design, but the fact that we are he is enough to show us that we have choices."

"Perhaps he was watching through the eyes of someone close by?" Cadeyrn suggested before heading out of the room and gripping his blade. Marlene's eyes turned from the demon immediately to the burtish mercenary.

He was only able to squeek "Mar- Aah!" before being brought to the ground by the young girl.

"I cannot stand the idea of such a kind gentle man suffering like this. I am going to go talk to him." She informed Lorathin, and walked off to find Sarik.
It did not take long. "Sarik! I must speak with you. I spoke with Lorathin about your problem. You did not tell me to keep it a secret, and if anyone can help you,it is Lorathin. I cannot stand to see such a gentle, kind man suffer in such a way." Karasu grabbed Sarik and held him tight. She began to cry.
"Lorathin said he could perform some tests and possibly find out the cause, and maybe a cure for this. Please let him do this. I cannot stand to see such a kind, sweet man suffer trying to hold back lethal rage. It is not you."
Karasu was sobbing by now. "P-please will you allow him to test you? If not for yourself, for me... and for The Patriarch. Y-you have no idea how many people care deeply about you. I am one of them. You are so good.
"I know it is important to you to be a good man and the idea of becoming evil must be hell for you. Please let him test you. I cannot stand this connundrum. The idea that you may turn into what you detest..." Karasu held him tighter and sobbed and sobbed. "P-p-please!" She begged, unable to stop her tears.

Immediately Inzikai's dark eyes rested on Teralynn. "Officer Teralynn...I must speak with you...alone," he growled as he walked back into the captain's quarters.
Rothargot smiled at Cadeyrn and Marlene, but frowned when Inzikai called Teralynn to his door. "Perhaps you two would like to take the helm again?" he asked Marlene and Cadeyrn.
***********************************************************
Sarik's face was filled with surprise when Karasu caught up to him. When she revealed that she told Lorathin, Sarik lowered his head. "Karasu...please do not tell others...I am ashamed...I'm supposed to be a pure soul. A paladin..."
"But if Lorathin can find a cure..." Sarik pulled out a white hankerchef and gently wiped away her tears. "Thank you Karasu, for caring so much."
You act like a close friend would. Probably as a sister would...Or a lover... Sarik immediately cast away those thoughts as he hugged Karasu. "You are like the sister I never had," he whispered quietly.
"Yes, Lord Inzikai," Teralynn replied, quite calmly. Though, judging by Inzikai's tone, she had a feeling that this would not be good as she followed him.
"I'll take the sails, Marlene you take the helm." Cadeyrn said barely peeling the child off of him.
The large human began working his way on several of the ropes. Normally it was a seven man task, but he was also no ordinary human. The young child carefully took control of the ship and set them out to sea.
"Inzikai can be a spiteful bastard huh?" The berzerker asked Rothargot having finished making any immeidate adjustments on the ropes and sail.
Marlene locked the wheel and walked down to the pair frowning. "I noticed your disease isn't cured..." She lamented.
"I just have to prove myself to Valtrox first." He replied putting a hand on her shoudler.
"So beating a dragon to death with your bare hands was not enough?" The young girl growled. "I heard what you did to Karasu, and I only have forgiven you because you said it was necessary."
"I am doing what is necessary." Cadeyrn answered softly before Marlene's swift hand struck him across the face.
"You are doing nothing but making broken promises." She whimpered before running below deck.

ooc: Ooooo...Marlene gives more information than Rothargot would expect ;)
"Inzikai is strange. He is no mortal, yet he is no divine being. He keeps himself a secret from even Valtrox. The enigma of the cult, but we cannot deny the fact that he is powerful. Powerful and an ego that can match other demons I know..." Rothargot rumbled gently.
"You beat a dragon to death?" the demi-god asked with an eyebrow raised. Then Marlene's hand slapped Cadeyrn in the face. The demi-god opened his wings, ready to pounce on the young woman, before stopping himself. He was unsure what to do. He did not want to interfere with what seemed as though the girl either taking care of Cadeyrn, or just scolding him because she likes to. Plus, he did not want to hurt the girl, which he had begun to like.

Inzikai has shut the door behind Teralynn, before going to his cloak and digging through his pockets. "How were you able to talk with Valtrox? Why does Rothargot want to keep you away from battle?" he shouted angrily.
While Karasu went to talk with Sarik again, Lorathin had utilized the time to head to the kitchen. Once there be began making a truely phenomenal dagwood sandwich. The sandwich was jam packed with meats, cheeses and vegtables, slices of bread serving as partitions and all held together by multiple types of condiments.

Rimoru had gone to see Maverion, only to find out he was still in bad condition.
Rimoru gently dismissed the doctor watching over the green skinned man, before gently stroking Maverion's cheek. "Mavey, can you hear me?" she whispered quietly.

Kalzog was roaming about the palace, trying desperately not to get lost, when he noticed Lorathin get into the kitchen. With a lick of his lips, the Ogre trudged on behind him, only to see a large sandwich just waiting to be eaten.
"Many thanks chefy," Kalzog chuckled as he picked up the sandwich and ate it in one gulp.
"You ass, that was mine." Lorathin growled, hunger making him increasingly hostile.
Cadeyrn stood speechless while rubbing the fresh mark on his face.
"I suppose I deserved that." He said before turning back to Rothargot. "Don't judge the poor girl over that; she's been through so much lately. Anyway, yes I've killed two dragons in my life. One the name sounded like "Kiyoshi" and the other being Karasu."
The barbarian like figure yanked a knot tightly into place before continuing: "As for Inzikai...I don't like him much. He seems to put himself before everyone over the smallest reasons. He is powerful, but he had better watch himself."

"Karasu?" Rothargot repeated. "The one in the Library?"
The demi-god made his way to the captain's door and remained standing as still as a statue, before making his way to the wheel, studying how Marlene had locked it.
"Inzikai has changed much, from what I've heard. I've only just begun to learn more about him, and he seems to get annoyed of me often, especially my curiousity."
"If you want more food, make it yourself." Lorathin growled as he grabbed a large loaf of bread, a hunk of cheese and a chunk of beef and stakled off.
"Aye, that one." Cadeyrn replied following the demon. "As long as he doesn't try to pull anything over on me then he'll continue to live."
I can't help but feel nervous about this new mission.
"What do you know about Zlatland?" He asked leaning on the railing.
The Blastit Empire
08-06-2006, 06:46
"For one, it's pronounced Zlatlan," Rothargot replied, not meaning to sound stuck-up, so he added a little smile. "It's a swamp, well, most of it. To the northwest, is the Impassible Wastes. It reminds me of home. Lava everywhere as there's several active volcanos constantly churning it out. That is where I have fought in a previous battle. And lost, due to the foolishness of another demi-god."
"There are thousands of small villages, however, there are a lack of larger towns, due to the instability of the swampy terrain. Zlatlan itself is the largest, and a large city by any standards, however compared to the capitals of the other two civilized factions, it's terrible. Disease runs rampant in the northern parts, where most of the discriminated races live, such as the rat men, the elves, and the diseased ones. Closer to the center of the city is Inzikai's Citidel. Before Inzikai came to power, it was grand by mortal standards, along with the rest of the nation. Inzikai came to power and the land decayed."
"But do not think the people have. The cult has the largest army in Lustria, and is one of the largest nations."
"Why do you ask?" Rothargot finally concluded as he looked at Cadeyrn curiously.

"I save everyone's life and this is how I'm repayed? A badly made sandwich and an angry human?" Kalzog called out to Lorathin, before rubbing his hands together and going into the larder.
Lorathin didn't even acknowladge Kalzog's comments as he headed to the pool Rimoru had taken to him earlier and taking a reclined chair, more a divan than a regular chair, he began eating and as he polished off the food, he again fell asleep, the sun shining down upon him.
"Valtrox has asked me to decimate its forces and sever a dragon influence amongst them." Cadeyrn replied coldly looking over the ocean. "Sounds more like a suicide mission...for any normal person."
The mercenary drew a large wicked smile.

"That only shows you that he believes you capable. He weeds out those who would only hamper our efforts," Rothargot replied. "Did you find the mighty one right away, or did you two have to search around the underworld?"
"I don't have much time before this disease begins to affect me seriously. Right now it's only spreading through my ring finger, but in a couple of days it will eat away at my hand." Cadeyrn send examining his left hand.
Suddenly there wa a tug at his right hand, well metal socket, and as he turned he saw Marlene fastening a new metal hand for him. She smiled at him as the last bolt locked in place.
"It's should respond a little quicker than the last one, and it can fire a more powerful slug too." She boasted before handing him a bag full of rounds for his personal armorment. "I heard you were going to fight an army so I brought these along just in case."
"Thanks Marlene, after this mission I'll be cured and we can spend plenty of time together. I swear that to you." He promised before the girl scuttled back below deck.
"Yes, inzikai took us directly to the master, after meeting with a rather unsavory character." Cadeyrn remarked while flexing his new artificial hand.
Yep, she was in trouble. Teralynn had heard of some of the things Inzikai could do, like turn a person into a puddle of goo with little effort. Granted, some of those things were probably exaggerated, but she knew she ought not cross him nonetheless. She needed to get on his good side, and quick.
How much did Inzikai know? Obviously not enough. He knew that she had been in contact with Valtrox, so that much must stay consistent.
"Rothargot presented me before Valtrox," she began explaining. "Valtrox decided to augment my abilities for another purpose. Rothargot was protecting me from battle for this new purpose... We were going to keep it a secret as a surprise for you, a gift, but...allow me to demonstrate, my Lord Inzikai..."
Tera did not know of how Inzikai felt toward Ar'mai, but she did know that there was something going on between him and Rimoru. And seeing as how her abilities worked on Inzikai back in the library, she decided to utilize those skills again. So in Inzikai's eyes, he would have seen her transform into the physical likeness of Rimoru.
She was not wearing a whole lot of clothing, much like the real Rimoru. Just enough in various areas to provide a little mystery and keep Inzikai wondering what was beneath. "Do you approve, my Lord Inzikai?" she asked in Rimoru's voice, giving the Skizzarish a sultry gaze.

Wandering the halls of the palace, Koryl heard Kalzog's grumbling. From the sound of it, he had found both the ogre and the food - priorities one and two. It took him only a few more moments to find the larder. Walking in, he started looking over the supplies and said:

Rothargot's eyes narrowed as Cadeyrn spoke of an 'unsavory character'. "Habdebza?"
Rothargot visibly tensed, his fire grew slightly brighter as he spoke in an ancient language, most likely cursing the name.

Inzikai's jaw dropped as he stared at Teralynn. His hand remained in his cloak, however he took a step towards the seductive woman. His eyes scanned her body before settling on her face. Suddenly, his eyes hardened and he curled his lips.
"This is a trick," he growled, however his voice wasn't so confident. He slowly pulled a dagger from the cloak.

"Who's an asshole?" Marlene's faded voice called from beneath the deck.
"What I tell you about that language!" Cadeyrn barked back clenching his fist.
"Sorry!" Her voice shot back before getting back to work.
Teralynn glanced just briefly at the flash of the dagger. If she showed weakness now, it may only give Inzikai more incentive to disbelieve her. The only thing to do was to keep going.
Looking directly into the Skizzarish's eyes, she slowly took a step toward him. "I may not be the true Rimoru, but this is as real as you allow it to be," she said softly, almost soothingly. A hand slowly reached out to caress Inzikai's face, "In nearly every other aspect, I am her."
Inzikai's reactions furthered showed that there was more to his relationship with Rimoru than she was aware of. Then she remembered his outburst when Rothargot and Rimoru embraced back at the library. Using her deductive skills from her years serving in the secret police, she quickly guessed at what the underlying problem was for Inzikai.
"Were you not allowed to be with her?" she whispered, her soft hand slowly moving down his cheek. "Perhaps that was because she is not a follower. Perhaps that is why I have been given this new purpose..."
She kept note of where Inzikai's dagger was.

Minos, Harlin, and Shara sat in a smal circle on the floor, and played a small dice game called King's Ransom. It was popular in Fandar, and was relatively complicated, involving four seperate dice each roll.
As Harlin rolled a high set, he grimaced. "Back to the dungeon for me," he said, before moving the small representation of himself he had mad out of a scrap of bookshelf to the appropriate spot on the crudely drawn board on the floor. Looking at his companions he asked, "Maybe we should wrap this game up and go get our horses ready. Then when everyone else is ready to go, we can just ride."
Shara looked at Harlin before casting the dice, "Yes!," she cheered before moving a small wooden carving of herself onto the throne square, thereby winning the game. "Well Harlin, the game has been wrapped up."
Minos looked down at the dice, and then back at Shara. "Damn! I was this close," he said, indicating the distance with his fingers.
Meanwhile, Harlin gathered up the dice and the game pieces and put then in a pouch on his belt. Then he wiped away the board with his feet, leaving only a slightly smudged marble tile behind. "I'm sure Rimoru's cleaning squad can handle that," he said before standing.
Minos and Shara joined him, and they set off to load their horses.
"When everyone is ready I guess." He said in response to Karasu's question.
"Then I'll leave it at that." Cadeyrn said obediently. "I just want to make it out of this so I can live the rest of my days in peace and quiet. Before this little adventure I had never met an opponent who was a match for me, now I find myself on the bottom of the food chain per se."
A slight smile appeared on Teralynn's face - or, rather, Rimoru's, as she was still in the elf's form.
Her hands went up to Inzikai's chest, sliding up to his shoulders as he pulled her closer. "My, you seem very tense," she said as her hands passed over the muscles in his shoulders. "It must be from all that fighting and the meeting with Valtrox."
Another smile curled up at the edge of her lips. "Here, let me help you relax and loosen up some. Lie on your stomach," she indicated toward the bed. "I am very good at this."

"Oh? From Kalzog or from Habdebza?" Rothargot asked as he got closer to the Captain's door.

Inzikai nodded as he slowly laid himself down on his stomach, spreading his cloak underneath himself as he did so.
"Either one would rip me apart." He replied slowly inching closer to the door with Rothargot. Without even noticing Marlene had snuck up behind them too.

"Leave them both to me," Rothargot said reassuredly as he leaned against the door. "Plus...if you get on Valtrox's good side, you could get stronger and more powerful...Valtrox awards those loyal to him," he continued with a whisper.
Cadeyrn grinned widely as Roth mentioned more power. Marlene saw his smile and knew things weren't going to end well, she slinked back below deck to continue tinkering.
"Valtrox will find me very loyal." He whispered back leaning his head closer to the door.

"I suppose not...if you did tell me what you knew about it, I suppose I would have to give it to you," Kalzog replied with a yawn.
"If you returned it, then I would have a reason to tell you." Koryl countered. "And nothing to lose by doing so."
"Close your eyes and relax your muscles," Teralynn said as she approached the bed. Then, using her ability to manipulate sensations, she let Inzikai feel her massaging him, first in the shoulders, then down his back. It started off lightly, but grew slowly in intensity to get the tougher knots he may feel out.
If Inzikai opened his eyes, he would see and feel Rimoru giving him the back massage. Teralynn, on the other hand, was in too much pain to really give Inzikai and his hardened scales a true massage, so she just stood a short distance away and continued feeding the lizard's brain with the touch, sight, sound, and smell of Rimoru.

Karasu used her jutsu to create 20 Karasus in order to get through the books faster.
After a period of time, one of the copies spoke. "Sarik, this one has something about Valtrox." She handed the book to him and continued looking through the pile.

"That feels great..." Inzikai muttered as the illusionary Teralynn massaged his back. "Did you always have feelings for me?"

Rothargot raised an eyebrow at Cadeyrn, debating whether they should burst through the door, or sneak in...

"Thank you, Karasu...copy..." Sarik replied with a smile as he set the book in a separate stack. He had picked up an Ogre Tribe history book and carefully set it on the stack as well.

"What exactly are you looking for?" several of the copies asked, not in unison.
"Will either of you need me for a while?" Lorathin asked Karasu and Sarik as they worked throught the books.
The mercenary just shook his head at Roth judging by the look on his face.
"I doubt you'd even fit in there." Cadeyrn whispered.

"I do not, Lorathin." replied Karasu. "I thought you and Sarik may want to talk. If not, I am very sorry for waking you. It seems someone always wakes you when you are sleeping. Perhaps you should find a hiding place." She chuckled, "Except who knows when we are leaving."

Rothargot smiled in response and nodded. "I can make myself fit, but I do not think I should ruin the boat," he rumbled softly before backing away.

"Azrael, do you have any bags or large pouches on you?" Sarik asked as he picked up a few more books.
"That'll be all, Karasu," Sarik replied to the several Karasu's.
"Yes, why?" Lorathin asked with a yawn.

That actually brought an amused smile to Maverion's lips. "I'll have to take...your word on that."
Rimoru laughed quietly as she closed her eyes. "So? Are you going to fulfill your promise?" she asked quietly as she waited for his kiss.
***********************************************************
"I would like to put these books in a bag, and then we should go," Sarik replied as he hefted the small stack of books off the table.

The Karasu jutsu blended into the real Karasu, which was interesting to see, as no one could tell which one was the original.
"Sarik, what does it say about Valtrox?" Karasu asked. She was quite interested in all these creeps.
"Don't have a bag that big but if you want, you can use my shirt, but only if you'll let me sleep." He offered
"I warned you I was good," Rimoru's playful voice sounded in Inzikai's mind.
Teralynn's own mind felt the presence of Rothargot outside the door, moving slowly closer. When the demon did not come in, however, she sent directly to his mind, Come on in.
The illusion was for Inzikai only, so if and when Rothargot entered, all he would see was Teralynn standing and Rothargot resting on the bed.
"Not always," Rimoru's voice continued. "After all, I never even met you until recently. But when I saw you in action against those others in the library..."

"I always fulfill my promises," Maverion said with a smile, although he was not completely sure, memory problems and all.
He started to lift his upper body up from the bed, but then his face scrunched up in pain as he plopped back down, clutching one of his wounds. "Or maybe not..."

"That's he's a silly ol' god in a dragon form," Sarik chuckled. "Actually, I plan to read them whenever I have time."
"Lorathin, I'll let you sleep as long as provided that you're not needed and the books are no longer in your shirt."
Lorathin frowned and just picked up about half the books, 'Where do you want them?" He asked with a tired sigh.

Inzikai smiled, nearly falling asleep as he felt himself being massaged. Suddenly, his eyes opened. "What's the catch of all this?" he asked gruffly.
***********************************************************
Rothargot nodded to Cadeyrn to go inside as he recieved the message from Teralynn.
***********************************************************
Rimoru's face scrunched up as Maverion fell back down onto his bed.
"If you can't kiss me, I'll just kiss you, then!" she laughed as she brought her lips to his, kissing him long and hard.
***********************************************************
Sarik laughed at Lorathin. "It's your shirt!" he replied with a chuckle. "But once we get on the boat, you can deposit them anywhere so that I can deal with them there. Karasu, can you find Shara, Minos, and Harlin?"
"And where is the boat?" He asked

"I would expect it to be in the water, to the east of here. About an hour or so away," Sarik replied.
"Very funny." Lorathin replied with a scowl as he put the books back down on the table.

"Correct Sarik." She smiled at his answer to the query about the boat.
"Bythe way, I am taking a rather large leather bag along with me, Sarik. I can put the books in there. That way Lorathin does not have to stuff them in his shirt, "Karasu chuckled at the image, "and no one will have to wake you Lorathin." She smiled.
"I know exactly where the boat is as well.
"I am getting a strange feeling that Rimmy is more or less siding with the enemy. Lorathin, can you tell? I can feel it." Karasu told him.
Maverion enjoyed the kiss, but then he had an odd feeling that something was wrong about this, yet he could not remember why.
"Was that promise a part of the game we were playing?" he asked once the kiss was over.

"Catch?" Rimoru's voice sounded in Inzikai's head. "Oh, well, I guess it probably involves continued loyalty and that you loss your feelings for Rimoru or something. But you would know these things much better than I would."
She continued going down the spine, then out to the sides, then back to the spine and down again.
"Not at the moment." He replied, "I'm still to drained."
With another yawn, "I'll go see if I can find her thought."

"No, you'll probably be at it for hours. Let's go," Sarik snapped, before shaking his head.
"Sorry about that," he mumbled as he picked up the books. "Where is the leather bag, Karasu? I would like to leave now, however."
***********************************************************
Rimoru pulled away slowly, with a small smile. "No, it wasn't part of the-" The empress chuckled to herself.
"Yes, it was part of the game. You had answered several questions wrong and owe me several kisses," she giggled.
"Ah," Maverion said, noticing how she changed the story midsentence. "How does...the saying go? Don't spend it all at once?" He grinned. "I should relearn the rules for the game."

"The bag is right here Sarik." Karasu had it with her, usually carrying it over her shoulder. "Just give me the books and I'll stuff them in." She smiled at Sarik.
"Now you can sleep Lorithin! She grinned.
Suddenly thoughts interrupted their conversation. Karasu was missing Relthor... carrying his son, who would never meet his father. She loved him so very much, but understood his decision was the right one. Karasu wondered if Relthor ever thought about her. What a sad situation.
She put on a fake face so as not to show her sorrow.

"I suppose we should wait for your wounds to heal...then you'll be more energetic," Rimoru laughed. "What do you remember, Mavey?"

"I suppose I would know better...you haven't even met Val-" Inzikai once again opened his eyes. "How does Valtrox know you got the book?"
Suddenly, the door opened, and Rothargot slowly poked his head through. "Teralynn, you are needed for ship work."
"She's busy," growled Inzikai.
Rothargot raised an eyebrow at Teralynn who stood in the corner.

Relthor had wandered the desert, the palace still in the distance. He remained in elf form for the time being, considering that he did not want to cause any trouble with local authorities.
He sighed as he looked back at the palace. My Karasu...I worry for you... he thought sadly before continuing his trek.
***********************************************************
Sarik smiled as he gave Karasu the stack of books, but frowned slightly as he noticed Karasu's disguise.
"I tend to know when someone is faking their happiness," Sarik whispered. "I've done it plenty of times to know."
