A Lich's quest to create a Soul (Fantasy Midevil Tech, Open)
Deatharon

IC: The Grand Shadow Empire of Deatharon was a land ruled by the Undead. It had a look of corruption and forboding gloom. The living people lived in small villages across the Empire. The Vast legions of Skeletons and Zombies patroled the roads. The Ghouls infested the Graveyards and the Cities were populated by the Vampires and the Lichs. There were other Undead creatures else where but they were hidden across the vast land. Dragons and Drow (Dark Elves)were a constant problem but the Legions of the Undead were able to keep them at bay. This Land was under the Iron Fist of the Lich Emperor Alfred Von Antheron.. But this story is not about him.
It is about a newly created Lich named Mavis, Mavis was a misguided Necromancer. Who performed the dark arcane ritual of Lichdom. The problem was Mavis learned that the price for immortailty and power came at a steep price. He lost his Soul to the Gods of Death. This left him undead but kept his intellect intact. Mavis realized his essence was gone and felt like a mere shell of the man he use to be. Some Lich's deal with this by draining the souls of there victims and aborsbing there power. Mavis however knew this was just a way to hide the fact Lich's were souless abminations. Mavis swore that he would create a new soul for himself. The Quest began at Death Hold the Captial of the Shadow Empire. Mavis is in his home in the Necro hold. (Necromancer Stronghold.) He is reading on the subject of soul draining in the libaray.
OOC: In My nation a Lich is created through a Ritual that a God of Death witnesses. If they approve of the applicant and they pass the test. The person loses there soul but gains the Gods protection and thus if they are killed they can respawn back to life. (Note if you can drain magic from an area this effect does not work.) After 3 days of course. A lich has powerful Necromantic power and can be harmed by priests and holy magic. They also can not enter holy or blessed grounds. Unholy places increase there power. They are faster and stronger than most humans. They are immune to posion and mind effecting charms as well as stunning (kind of mummified.)
Mavis is a young lich so he looks like a normal human however if someone can decet the undead they will no he is not one of the living. Most Lichs look like mummified zombie wizards..
ooc: So, what kind of people are you looking for?
Deatharon
31-10-2005, 03:23
OOC: Anybody who wants to Rp as Wizards, Warriors, Undead, Basically I am going to have Mavis go on a journey to learn different magics to find the secret on how to create a soul for himself. I was also hopeing if he could leave my nation to learn because my people just use Necromancy and Dark Magic from the Gods of Death...
Lorathin was an odd man. He had natural, bright purple hair, one pure black eye, and one that was pure red. Beside these, obvious oddities, he had a birthmark of a dragon on his right shoulder, and one of a basilisk on his left. Over his black eye, he had the diamond scarring of a Trigis Lurker, a rather secrative organisation of mages. The scarring was only fully visible to another Lurker, and partially visible to another magick user.
As he walked, he found a land plagued by what was commonly called the Blight of the Undead, or simply the Blight. As he walked, he noticed a force of skeletons approaching, and wondered what they were here for.

The Skeleton patrol marched in standard two line formation on the road. They had rusted armor and rusted weapons of warriors that had fallen in battle. They noticed the strange human near the border. The Skeleton captain(only one that can speak and has his own mind) orders the troop to intercept the human and question him...
Death Hold
Mavis wrote spell after spell down into his book. He was hoping to gain enough information of Deatharon Necromancy before he heads out to the lands beyond for information on how to create a human soul...
Lorathin wondered what the skeletons were after, as few people raised them simply because. As one approached, he called to mind a defensive spell and waited to see what it wanted.

The Skeleton Captian saids to the stranger, "What brings you to the Imperial Fatherland my good sir?" The other Skeletons watch the weird man closely.
Death Hold
Mavis took his book on Necromancy. He grabs five more empty books and heads out of Necro Hold with his books and his Skull staff. He also has the robes of a Arch Necromancer of Deatharon.
"I have come here because it is on my way. Is all this land afflicted with the Blight?" He asked the skeleton.
Deatharon
31-10-2005, 05:17
The Skeleton Captain smiles and saids, "This land is ruled by the Blight. The Emperor of this land is a Arch Lich."
His face taking on a faint note of annoyance, Lorathin began speaking another spell. Once completed, he glowed faintly black, for a few seconds. "What is to the west of here?" He asked, pointing back the way the skeletons had come from.

31-10-2005, 05:35
The Skeleton Captain saids, "That will led you to the territory of Baron Molov the Vampire noble of this region. Once you past his territory you will reach the capital Death Hold."
"Thank you." Lorathin replied, "And good day." He then set out toward the home of the vampire lord.

The Road led down a downtridden path that led across various villages of human peasants. The people were busy farming and trying to surrive. The Zombies patrol the area acting as constables for the people. A little bit further led to, The Vampire lord's Citadel was a fairly large stronghold. It had Ghouls guarding the gates. With Human Archers up on the towers. The Skeletion warriors made up a large garrision with roughly 50 Vampire Knights of the Order of the Crimsion Skull.
Lorathin saw the vampire knights and contemplated doing something dangerous to them, and funny but dangerous to him. On reflection he decided wasting fifty vampire was not worth the effort do deal with the problems that would arise.
Walking in front of the citadel, he wondered whether anyone who come out to question him as the Skeletons had.
Deatharon
31-10-2005, 06:19
The Head Vampire Knight of the citadel comes up and saids, "Halt and state your name and intentions to why you have entered the lands Baron Molov?"
Lorathin continued walking, thought he slowed somewhat. "My name, that is of no buisness of your, but you may call me Morti if you wish. As to my reason for being here, this land is in my way."

31-10-2005, 06:29
The Vampire Knight responds, "This is the ancestroal land of Baron Molov you will explain why you have come to the Gate of his citadel!"
"Like I said, it is in my way, and thus I must pass it to get to my destination." He replied
Deatharon
31-10-2005, 06:49
The Vampire saids, "Where is your destation pray tell? Plus why can you not go around the citadel?"
"My destination, for now is Death Hold, and if you stopped talking, I would go around it." He said to the vampire.

The Vampire Saids in a shocked voice, "Why Death Hold. That is the Captial of the entire Empire!"
OOC: Last post for tonight.
"Y'know, I do believe your right," Lorathin replied, "Then I'm to the capital, if you'll excuse me of course."

The Vampire lKnight looked upon the human that was now heading off into the distance. Most humans were afraid of the undead and did there best to avoid there cities but this man was crazy enough to go to a city that not only ruled this entire nation but had the largest undead population.
Lorathin was tempted, but again decided it wasn't worth the effort to place a harmless but annoying curse on the vampire.
As he walked, he began humming a tune similar to that of Wagner's Ride of the Valkyries.

The Long path led to many human villages. and Undead Forts. The Area outside of the road. Was prodminatly forest except for a few mountainious areas. The Undead Patrols around here grew in number and had more variety in Undead. There were Skeletons, Zombies, Ghouls, Wights and Shadows. Once Lorathin passed this he would be in sight of the Captial Death Hold.
Lorathin gazed at the city as he approached the capital of this nation of the Blight.
Deatharon
01-11-2005, 06:17
The 20ft tall Stone Walls that surrounded the city blocked the view of much of the city. Lorathin would notice the massive towers and gate houses with Vampires Knights upon the walls. The Human Archers were also in stargetic postions around the wall. The Gates were guarded by a packs of Ghouls with a Vampire overseer at each gate. (Think one gate North south east west of city.) The City is large from the distance and looks like it can hold about 40,000 people. The City has an aura of Necromantic power radiating from the powerful Arch Lichs and Arch Necromancers that call this area home...
Lorathin approached the city from the west. As he neared the ghouls, he wrinkled his nose, as they didn't smell all that fresh. He waited for the vampire, the appearent leader to question him as the others had.
Deatharon
01-11-2005, 06:36
The Vampire noted the weird human that entered near his gate. He walked over and said, "Excuse me sir, but humans are not allowed in the City of Death Hold unless they are a Necromancer part of the Imperial Legions or food for the citizens or a merchant on bussiness with the local trade guilds."
"What if I have other buisness to attend to?" Lorathin asked the vampire.
Deatharon
01-11-2005, 06:54
The Vampire saids in a manner of an adult speaking to a child, "Any other bussiness most be supported by one of the Great houses."
OOC: The Nobles are divided into Great houses:
House Mizar
House Sstan
House Kazar
House Von Antheron (ruling house)
Most powerful bottom top weakest.
"And let me guess, the nobles stay cooped up in Death Hold, don't they?" He asked
Deatharon
01-11-2005, 07:11
The Vampire smiles and saids, "No, Just the ruling Dukes of the houses. The Barons and the Dukes of other cities are not in Death Hold but in there respective areas of power unless the Lich Emperor calls them to Death Hold or there Ruling Duke."
OOC: Each great house has a Vampire Duke or Duchess that commands there respective great house.
"So if I wish to enter, I have to go chase down one of these nobles?" He asked
Deatharon
01-11-2005, 07:31
The Vampire saids, "Well techincally you can enter but the fact is. The Empire is concerned about your safety. The Humans that enter this city that do not have Imperial protection are considered food for many of the citizens inside. The Empire just does not want to get the repuation of having innocent travelers drained of there blood and flesh when entering our city. If you are a wizard or something you could claim to be a Necromancer that would get you protection from the guild and thus the Imperial Government."
"Then claim me as necro, I believe I have a spell of that field knocking around in here." He said as he tapped his head.
Deatharon
01-11-2005, 07:40
The Vampire smiles and saids, "Glad to help you. Here is your pass to enter the city. If any resident tries to eat you just hold out this pass. If they are a law abidding citizen they will leave you alone. If not defend yourself and call out for the guard." The Vampire hands out a black ticket with a symbol of a skull on it.
Lorathin accepted the pass, "Thank you." He said as he entered the gates, as he almost entered, he paused and asked, "At what point is lethal force permissable?"
Deatharon
01-11-2005, 08:03
The Vampire saids, "Well considering the fact your a wizard. I would say use lethal force as a last option but please do not use spells that harm innocent bystanders if it becomes nessicary." The Vampire nods to a Ghast in the Ghoul pack and they move out of the wizards way.
"I shall keep that in mind." He said as he walked throught the pack of ghouls and into the City of the Blighted Dead, the city of Death's Hold.

01-11-2005, 08:26
The first Sight Lorathin would see are the vast stone buildings that covered much of the city. Undead of all varieties walked across the well layed paths of the city. If Lorathin looked closely he would see Vampires, Mummys, Shadows, Mohrgs, Skeletons, Zombies and the occasionaly Lich. If he looked up a little above eye level he would see the statues that honor the powerful Lich Emperor Alfred Von Antheron. If he looked higher up he would see the sight of the Imperial Palace of the Lich Emperor in the center of the city. If he looked a little of to the left he would see Necro Hold the Necromancer Stronghold in the City. If he looked to the right he would see the Death Guard hold. The Vampire Knights stronghold. The City was an undead paradoy of a living city with undead merchants selling a buying goods. The Undead payed Lorathin little attention since most noticed the pass he carried. The Few living people in the city were human and most looked like they were Necromancers or Archers in the Legion military on the wall or in the guard.
OOC: Note the powerful corruption of the undead in this area makes it so the sun does not shine very often but when it does. The Undead of the city go into vast underground tunnel complexs under the city.
He looked at the vast hordes of undead, and wondered what a nice solar-flare storm would do, especially if they weren't prepared for it. As it was, he decided to seek out and try and find the Necro stronghold.
As he wandered, he examined the wears of the various merchants.

02-11-2005, 16:36
The Merchants by Necro hold were sellers of magical items. They would banter and barter about selling a Leech Blade, or Dark Bolt scroll. Or the Ancient spell book of some long forgotten Lich...
Necro Hold was a huge stone stronghold with massive towers. The Gates were normaly closed but they had a teleport ring on the ground.(Only Necromancers associated with the Guild would know the password to activate the ring.)
On the ring was Mavis geting off it. He looked like a human Arch Necromancer but something about him seemed off. He had an aura of ancient death and magic about him...
Lorathin saw the unusual man at the ring. The man looked like he was coming out of the Necro strong-hold, and decided to say hi.
Walking over, he asked, "Are you a necromancer, and what is that odd aura around you?"
Deatharon
03-11-2005, 06:29
Mavis saids, "I am an Arch Necromancers and one of the heads of the Guild. The Aura is the effect of using powerful necromantic magic.
OOC: He won't admitt he is a Lich. He stole the scroll of Lichdom and did the ritual secretly. If the Emperor or the Nobles found out that Mavis stole this secret they would destroy him and use there power to destroy his soul which is protected by the Gods of Death..
"Ah, so where are you headed, and want some company?" Lorathin asked as he stretched a bit and sneezed. All this Blight concentrated in one spot was bothering his nose, even throught the protective spell.
Deatharon
03-11-2005, 06:43
Mavis smiles and saids, "I am heading out of the country. I want to learn magic other than Necromancy. I would not mind company in this journey."
"Shall we depart, the aura of the Blight is bothering my nose. I didn't realize the undead and necro energies would be this concentrated." Lorathin replied, "You may call me Morti, and what should I call you?"
Deatharon
03-11-2005, 06:47
Mavis saids, "You can call me Mavis."
"Alright Mavis, shall we go then." Lorathin said, a thought passed throught his head, "If you're a guild head, shouldn't you notify someone?"
Deatharon
03-11-2005, 06:55
Mavis smiles and saids, "I already have. The other heads are taking over my duties untill I get back."
OOC: He is lying, He wants to get out of the country quickly before the Necromancer guild can figure out he stole the secrets of Lichdom...
"So, would you mind giving me a basic history of this nation, and how it got so infested with Blight while we walk?" Lorathin asked
Deatharon
03-11-2005, 07:11
Mavis saids, "History about the Grand Shadow Empire huh.... Well lets see here. The Nation was orginally divided into human clans that fought each other for dominace and the local beasts such as Drow (Dark Elves) and Dragons. The land was orginally under this brutal form of life for years untill a man by the name of Alfred Von Antheron taught his Clan. The art of Necromancy. They became the first known Necromancers in the nation. They used there powers to form a powerful Undead Legions from there fallen ancestors. They beat back the other clans and then the corruption of our land began. The forests suffered first then the valleys and trees. The Dead became more active in our land as the years went on. Then Vampires appeared and started targeting the nobles of our lands. The Necromancer Alfred Von Antheron became the first recorded lich and named himself the Lich Emperor. He battled the Vampire lords and won. Thus the reason why the Lichs rule this land and not the Vampires. The Drow and Dragons were still a problem with there slave raids and Dragon plundering. The Undead legions started to go into the underdark and attack entire drow cities. The Dragons found there nests and young killed by the same people they had killed in there plundering. Thus begining the beast wars a war that rages to this day. The Religion wars later started when the Church of the Goddess of Life battled the Church of the Gods of Death. The Lich Emperor was denouced by the Church of Life and there paladins and priests. The Gods of Death destroyed there following by the thousands leading to increase in the ranks of the Undead. The Grand Shadow Empire has been existence for roughly 200 years but we have recently attacked the lands to our north thus allowing outsiders to know of our presence."
"So a dark and bloody history for a dark and undead land." Lorathin replied, "So, what is the reason for your journey?"
Deatharon
03-11-2005, 07:31
The Mavis saids quite simply, "I seek the knowledge to create a soul."
Lorathin looked at him funny, "Why ever would you want to know a thing like that?"
Deatharon
03-11-2005, 07:41
Mavis replies, "Guild secret, If I told you I would have to kill you and destroy your soul to keep the knowledge secret."
"You mean you'd have to try." Lorathin replied, "But I get the picture, new converation topic, does your guild require testing?"
Deatharon
03-11-2005, 07:49
Mavis saids,"Yes we would like to test the theroy before we try to implement it for our own purposes."
"I meant for those who wished to join, and what kind of testing, if any does it have?" He asked
Deatharon
03-11-2005, 08:03
Mavis saids, "Ohh that test, Well to join you must swear fealty to the Emperor and then you must raise a corpse into undeath (make a skeleton or Zombie) If you can do this you are given member status. If not we have places were the guild will let you pratice the art untill you can achieve that end. You must also take a written exam on the formulas for potions and posions along with the proof of knowlege of spell indigrdents."
"Ah." Lorathin replied, "I've been quizzing you relentlessly, surely you must have a question for me, so feel free to ask."
Deatharon
03-11-2005, 20:09
Mavis saids, "Yes, I do have a few question actually. The first of which is what nation do you come from?"
"I don't hail from any nation anymore." Lorathin replied
Deatharon
03-11-2005, 20:25
Mavis then asks, "Why did you decided to come to The Grand Shadow Empire and why visit the capital. I am sure our repuation in other lands in not a good one."
"It was here, and it's interesting." Lorathin replied, "Also fairly unique."
Deatharon
03-11-2005, 20:52
Mavis saids, "I never thought about the nation like that before. I suppose this nation is different from other nations." Mavis then saids, "You look like a magic user of some kind, What kind are you?"
"Just a GP." Lorathin replied, lying for the third time in the conversation so far.
Deatharon
03-11-2005, 21:05
Mavis saids, "Well, I am out of questions and I need to begin the journey."
Inside Necro Hold....
The Lich Necro Magus notices that Mavis is missing. He starts talking to the other Arch Necromancer teachers and they say they last saw Mavis in the Libarary. The Necro Hold is start to hunt for the rogue Lich...
OOC: Note they do not know he is a Lich they are trying to figure out where he is.
"So, are you heading north, east, west, or south?" Lorathin asked
Deatharon
03-11-2005, 21:22
Mavis saids, "To the North our Undead Legions are fighting the Amerath barbarians and there allies. I was planing on going to the east. The Area there has not been explored by my people and I could gather information for the Guild there in my search."
"Alright, it'll be interested in exploring it with you." Lorathin replied
Deatharon
03-11-2005, 21:30
Mavis saids, "Ok but first I must see a friend of mine for supplies that I may need on the trip like food provisions and healing potions."
Maivs then starts walking towards what looks like a Dark Temple....
OOC: Last post for a few hours.
"Alright." Lorathin replied
Out of the sky came a winged horse (http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b360/DMG2005/GaelKadar.jpg) with two riders on its back. The horse descended in a whirlwind style has its majestic winds cut through the air. The horse landed outside fairly close to the capital, but out of the city limits.
After landing on the ground the two riders dismounted. The female elf (http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b360/DMG2005/ArmaiCorvianna.jpg) pet the horse's nose and whispered, "Lle ume quel." The male elf (http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b360/DMG2005/Baelther.jpg) stood behind her with swords at hand, looking over their surroundings.
"Lets go," she said to the elf and her horse, "See if we can find anyone." They began walking toward the city's entrance.

04-11-2005, 06:29
The Dark Temple was a large stone building. The Front entrance was guarded by two black robed Priests of the Gods of Death... They took one look at Mavis and let him and his friend pass. Mavis kept moving inside the temple towards a bloody altar in the center. A black robed high priest with a skull mask was there preparing a sacrifice to the Gods of Death.
_________________________________________________________________
The Elves found the Entrance surrounded by A large Group of Ghouls. The Vampire taskmaster looks at them and saids, "Hold there your kind has a bad reputation around here especially your dark skined cousins the Drow." (Dark Elves.)
Lorathin followed Mavis into the depth of the temple.

Mavis walks up to the Priest and saids, "Sir, I have bussiness with you and your order."
The Priest responds, "Why would I have dealings with a living Necormancer?"
Mavis smiles and saids, "I am not just any Necromancer, I am Mavis Arch Necromancer of Necro Hold."
The High Priest smiles and saids, "Lets test that shall we." The Priest starts to chant invoking the Negative energy of his gods to launch of wave of negative energy at Mavis....
Lorathin just stood there awaiting the conclusion of this test.
The Elves found the Entrance surrounded by A large Group of Ghouls. The Vampire taskmaster looks at them and saids, "Hold there your kind has a bad reputation around here especially your dark skined cousins the Drow." (Dark Elves.)
"We are not of the Drow, nor do we have any connection with them..." said the female elf. "We have no problems with you and so you should have no problems with us."
The male elf was, although not in a fighting position, prepared for anything that may happen - holding his swords to his sides.
Deatharon
04-11-2005, 06:46
Mavis knew the Negative energy would not harm his undead body but if his friend knew anything about such magic. He would know a living person would be in great pain after recieving a blast of negative energy. Mavis chants and starts to form a barrier of postive energy around himself. This would hurt him under normal conditions if he touched his own protection spell....
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Vampire starts to laugh and saids, "Put weapons down boy. The walls are full of Archers and I doubt you could kill us all. I have to ask what is your bussiness in Death Hold?"
Lorathin watched Mavis create a shielding spell, studying the methods he used more as well as the results. The scar over his eye seemed to shimmer slightly.
"You will have to excuse him," said the female elf, "He is very cautious... no matter the circumstances."
"As for our business here... we were just flying overhead and noticed your city. We decided to give Gael'kadar a rest while we explored," she said as she pet the horses nose.

Mavis easily defeats the High Priests spell and saids, "I have defeated your attack."
The High Priest saids, "I have one more."
The Priest starts to invoke the Gods to drain the very soul of Mavis...
Mavis watched as the spell came at him. The spell would be useless Mavis was a Lich and had no soul to drain. He however was posing as human and this spell would make his charade difficult...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Vampire saids, "I can not just let you in here girl. The living is not alowed in here unless they be Merchants doing bussiness, Necromancers with the guild, Or part of the Imperial Legions."
The Ghoul packs start to form a tight postion around the Gate...
The Human Archers above have there weapons at ready...
Lorathin didn't recognise this form of spell, and was busy trying to figure out what it was.
"Woh, woh woh. Did I forget to mention that we are merchants," said the female elf as the guards readied their weapons. "We are out journeying the world, finding what other merchants sell... sometimes we buy stuff and then resell it in our own nation," she lied.
The male elf didn't seem to like the archers preparing their weapons, though he remained unflinching.

The black energy surrounded Mavis and Mavis just stood there...
The High Priest watched in amazement as his spell finally dissapated and his opponet just stood there. The High Priest figures it out and saids, "Sorry Sir, I did not realize you were a.."
before the Priest could finish the sentence. Mavis casted a similar spell of his own. The High Priest collasped and his soul was ripped out of his body. The poor man's soul headed towards Mavis....
________________________________________________________________
The Vampire saids, "Very well then, I will give you this pass but remember. The City is full of the Undead like myself. They will not harm you if you carry this pass but if one of them tries to just call out for the Imperial Guard they know how to deal with trouble makers." The Vampire gives the Elf a black ticket like the one Lorathin recieved when he entered the into the city.
The Ghouls and Archers let the Elves pass...

Mavis can feel the soul enter his cold lifeless body and his own power starts to drain the Souls lifeforce thus increasing Mavis's power...
"Thank you," said the female elf as she led the horse and the male elf into the city.
They wandered the streets while the female elf looked at the different wears the vendors were selling. However, the male elf's eyes darted back and forth looking for any inpending dangers.
Lorathin glanced at the priest, then at Mavis and asked, "So what now?"

The City was full of Undead danger was a constant problem in a city like this... The fact the strangers were Elves did not help matters. The Grand Shadow Empire had battled the Drow for centuries and had recently been rageing a war agaisnt barbarians in the North and reports of Elves being there did not help to bring friendship in a city like this...
________________________________________________________________
Mavis saids, " I guess we take the items that we need." Mavis walks over to a back room and opens the lock with a spell...
Mavis then grabs a bunch of food rations, books, and a bag to carry it all in. Mavis also grabs a some gold coins.
After receiving numerous dirty stares from the people on the streets, the elves decided to find out why. "Lets go find someone in charge and see whats wrong..." said the female elf. "I already don't like this place..."
The female elf led the two to a grand building and said, "Well this looks like an important building, lets have a see whats inside."
"Alright," Lorathin said, "Got it all?" He asked as Mavis finished 'looting' the temple.

(Think shadowy ghost figure.) followed them and reported there movements to the Vampire Knight in charge of the Death Guard...

Mavis smiles and saids, "Yes, I have recieved all of my things." The Priest watched the Lich and his friend all of them would not do anything after all those who crossed a Lich usually ended losing there soul to them...
ooc: I was letting you decide.
The elves and the winged horse entered into palace. Approaching an important looking figure, the female elf asked, "I have a question that you may be able to answer... why do the people here hate elves? We got many dirty stares while we walked the streets..."

The Elves had the run into the Vampire Arch Duke Nym Kazar the second most powerful creature in the Empire. He looks at the elves with his ancient eyes and saids, "The Grand Shadow Empire of Deatharon has spent centuries fighting to protect our human citizens from Drow Slave raids. We also have tried to expand up north in the lands of Amerath. The problem is we are being beaten back by these barbarians thanks to there allies and rumor has it Elves have been supporting the Amerath barbarians."
Lorathin followed Mavis, "So what was that last spell you two tossed at each other?" He asked, as he could identify the general format of the other two, the offensive and defensive they'd started with.

Mavis saids, "That spell is one that should never be used on a Arch Necromancer or anyone for that matter. It is a forbidden spell..." Mavis continues his walk out to the streets. The Priests that guard the door look at him like he is some sort of monster...
"Ah... again with the Drow it is," said the female elf to the vampire. "How the mighty have fallen..."
"Nonetheless, we are not of the Drow and nor do we support the resistance in the north," she continued. "Although seeing we are unwelcome by your people here, I think we may be leaving soon..."
She turned to the male elf, "I think we will continue our exploring to the... east. How does that sound?" The male elf made no sound but she took it as a sign of agreement anyway, "Good... east it is."

The Vampire Arch Duke just watched the Strange Elves that had walked into the Palace of the Emperor of Grand Shadow Empire and thought. That was odd usually the living do not vist here. He then heads towards the throne Room of the Lich Emperor to advise him on matters of State..
"Ah, and you were simply re-paying the crime in term." Lorathin replied, "What he sowed, he reaped."
The elves leave the palace and return to the streets. Deciding it would be wiser not to stock up on supplies in the city, they began walking to the east gate.
As they passed another grand looking building they saw two unusual figures exiting.

Mavis his Necromantic Aura getting stronger due to devour the Priest soul saids, "No, I am surpised these elves here our not being eaten or devoured by the Undead citizens."
"I'm guessing they have a pass, like this one." Lorathin pulled out his own black pass.
ooc: Last post/night, need sleep.

Mavis smiles and saids, "Yeah that pass is for foriegners that want to enter the city and not be considered food for the Undead Citizens. Necromancers like me however do not need such trinkets thanks to our power and repuation amongst the citizens around this city."
OOC: Last post for tonight...
As they stopped momentarily, a few undead approached the elves angrily and moved at them hostilely. The male elf was about to cut their heads off with his massive swords, but the female elf stepped in front of him and held out the pass. The undead backed off and returned to what they were doing as the male elf again put the swords at his sides.
"Fair enought." Lorathin replied as he watched the little altercation between the elves and the undead.

Mavis watched the incident with the elves and Undead. He saids, "They are lucky, If these Undead were rouge they would be in drained in a heart beat. Lucky for them the Vampire Knights patrol this area quite constantly."
As the two elves walked along the road to the east gate, the female elf decided it would be better to protect themselves against any more hostile undead.
She paused for a moment and closed her eyes. Raising her hands into the sky she muttered a quick prayer and around the two elves appeared a magical barrier, Holy Shield.

The Column of Vampire Knights patroling the area saw the holy shield. The Captain of the Guard thinks, "Wait, a minute such magic is forbidden in this country."
The Vampire Knights head towards the elves and the Captain saids, "Hold it there holy magic is forbidden in this city and in the Empire for that matter."
"We are on our way out of the city, now," said the female elf. The male was ready for anything but appeared calm. "It is merely for our protection... those undead back there tried to attack us."

"Well that certainly sounds like an important title," said the female elf as she turned to see the new comers. "You are going out to explore the east also? Maybe we can go together..."

OOC: Keep in mind Mavis is radiating an Aura of Powerful Negative Energy thanks to him being a Lich. He however still looks human because he did the ritual only a few days ago. If you stay long enough you will see him change to look like a Mummified undead wizard...

She cupped one side of her mouth as if to make it so Bael'ther couldn't hear, "His voice box was severed in battle a few years ago..."

OOC : You see, the thing is I'm not quite sure what I can and can not be...I would like to be a freshly raised undead, with my mind still intact, but all memory lost of my former life, sort of like World of Warcraft...would that be okay? A freshly raised Undead Mage or Warlock/Necro.

He quickly trotted of the bodies and started thinking "How did I get here? And why was I in this pile of dead bodies?" He started walking around, and noticed there were ghouls and vampires around here. He stopped, and thought "Well, it can't get anymore obvious this, I died and was raised somehow...how delightful..."
OOC : As for his life, he will remeber small bits at points, and eventually will learn what killed him, and how it happened.

Mavis saids, "Well you figured it out. I am an illegal Lich."
Well, now he needed to figure out where he was. Nothing looked familiar, and everyone was undead, or at least looked like it. He saw some humans, yelling that their wares were the best in Deatharon. That was a clue, the nation of Deatharon. Yurin scratched his head, trying to remember where he knew the name from. It suddenly hit him, a flashback of some of his former life.
He saw himself talking to a human wizard, saying "Deatharon!? Why would I go there? It's a stinking pile of death, except for the occasional human, but they're most likely to come back half-rotted anyway..." The wizard replied by saying "We need to know more about their defences to the south for the attack...you can pose a seller of enchanted goods and scrolls. They should give you a pass..." Yurin's past self finally gave in to the wizards reasoning "Alright, I'll do it. But I better get that book I've been wanting." "Oh you will, you'll get exactly what you wanted..." said the wizard as Yurin's past self left he room...and then Yurin came to himself.
"That was interesting. Now I know why I'm wearing these robes. They look tattered. Perhaps I should buy some new ones from one of the human merchants around here." he thought as he started walking towards the marketplace...
"Well, it's nothing big to me if you're an illegal." Lorathin replied
OOC : To let everyone know, Yurin is in the capital.
Yurin walked up to one of the merchants, grabbed his shoulder, and shook him, and said "Hey you, know where I could get so-" but before he could finish the human smacked him in the face and yelled "Guards!" Yurin was tackled out of nowhere by something, he couldn't see it though as it was behind him. A voice said "You have been caught attempting to feed on a protected human, prepare to burn." "I didn't do anything! I was trying to ask him something!!!" Yurin exclaimed, and the force got off of him. He stood up, and saw a vampire in armor, and thought "Well, the guards here are on their toes..." "Sir, is this true?" the vampire asked the man. "Well, ummm, yes. But I swear he tried to bi-" but before he cound finish, he was picked up and dragged off. Yurin wathced as the vampire took the man away, and then looked at his stand and thought "How convient, a clothing vendor..." and took a crimson red robe, some pants, a shirt, and a pair of shoes and walked off towards an alley to change...

OOC: ok then your in the Captial and you nearly were wiped out for looking like you were feeding on a human merchant. The merchant would probally have the backing of one of the Great houses so if they took him away he will probally be back on the streets in a matter of a few days. Just a side note..
IC: Mavis saids, "If you are caught with me by the Imperial government. They will proclaim you criminal and will try to capture you and use you as slaves. Or in this case food cattle for the undead. I will be executed and given.(Mavis shivers here) True death."
"Nor is it significant to me," commented Ar'mai, "Your laws are for your people..."
"But anyway... I must ask why you have become a Lich?"
OOC : Alright, but by the time he gets back to his stand, he most likely have forgtten what exactly was there, and if he remembered, anyone could have taken his stuff.
After he finished changing, he tossed his old rags into a heap in the alley, and walked back out towards the marketplace. He approached another vendor who appeared to be selling weapons, and none of them looked in particularly good condition, but Yurin thought "A weapon is a weapon, and I need one. And I should approach this one a bit more noticable, as not to suprise him and have another accident..." He approached the vendors stand and said "Whats the best you got here?" The vendor said "I dunno, how much gold you got on you?" Yurin showed a slight bit of annoyance in his emotionless face, and said "Well, how much is your life worth? Most likley no more than any of these weapons, but if you give me, hmmm, this one..." he points a long sword that was in better condition than the rest of the blades, and he felt something special about the blade "...I'll spare your life. Of course, the mass graves are pretty comfy, and..." He looked at the vendors face, which had turned slightly pale, and grinned. "So, how about it?" The vendor pushed the weapon towards him "You can take it..." he was in a trance from a spell Yurin had remembered while he was changing "Thanks a bunch buddy." He took the sword and the sheath that fit it, and put it on his robe's belt, and walked towards a gate, not sure which way was which...

Mavis saids, "Well, As a human in Deatharon my life is pretty low on the social hierachy. My family had the backing of Great house Mizar and thus the Duchess Aluria Mizar. I proved myself able in the Necromantic arts and gain power and respect. I worked hard in my studies doing anything I could to advance in society. I made it to Arch Necromancer. A postion that even the Vampries respect. I just had one hurdle to past to become one of the elite. I had to become a Lich thus reaching the pincale of Deatharon staus. I stole the Secrets of Lichdom and performed the ritual. I failed to figure out the consequences to that. I did not have Imperial permission to do the ritual and I have lost my soul to the Gods of Death... I am immortal now and if killed I will rise again but I feel empty inside. I feel my intellect but not me. If you can understand."
"I'd like to see them try." Lorathin smirked at the idea of a undead taking him prisoner.
"If we are hunted... we will defend ourselves," said Ar'mai as Bael'ther stiffened his body.
"Ah... becoming immortal... we elves know much abuot that," said Ar'mai, "But when you can't die... what is their to live for?" she asked philosophically.

Mavis then adds, "I now feel like a shell of the man I use to be. I think the reason most Lichs drain souls is to replace that feeling but I want to create my self a new soul to replace the one the Gods of Death have."
"Would you prefere a new soul or your original soul?" Lorathin asked
Deatharon
05-11-2005, 05:39
Mavis saids, "My orginal soul is in the hands of the Gods of Death... I can not defeat one god let alone the entire pantheon. I figure making a new one would be easier and would not lead to true death for one such as my self."
"Who said anything about defeating a god." Lorathin replied, "It is possible to flilch from god, trick a god, trade for it or earn it." He failed to include that there were ways to force a god into an impossible contest and win that way, something the Trigis Order knew about, but prefered not to brandy about.
OOC : Should I let you play the part of the vampires? Or can I?

Mavis saids, "In all essence the Gods are my protectors. They will rise this body should I fall to an enemy attack. They also grant increased power with negative energy. I would rather not incur there wraith trying to get my soul back. I think we should look for the secrets of creating souls. I could also create souls for currency amongst the Demon population."
OOC: you can. If want to...
"Ah, there are some ways to create a soul, many quite lethal, even to a lich." Lorathin replied
Deatharon
05-11-2005, 05:51
Mavis saids, "What do you mean lethal even to a Lich?"
"True death lethal." Lorathin replied
He approached the Vampire guards at the gates and asked "Which direction does this gate go?" "East, but the area has only been lightly explored and highly dangerous. Are you wanting to leave the city?" Yurin thought for a moment, and decided he wanted to get out of this place. "Yes, I am considering leaving the city." The vampire looked surprised and said "Really? You look freshly raised. You look human, but I can sense the darkness pumping through your body. It is stronger than in most raised humans...but I shouldn't keep a citizen from doing what he wants...let him through. Be careful out there." Yurin nodded at the guard, thanked him, and walked through the open gate, glancing at the ghouls as he walked out...

Mavis notices the oddly dressed undead heading toward them. He prepares incase of it is Imperial bounty hunters from the Necromancer guild.
"Of course you could avoid it and remain as you are." Lorathin said, somewhat thankful the elves, or especially Mavis didn't ask how a alleged general practitionar had come by the info.
Yurin noticed the three people. One looked human, another looked slightly dead, but human, and there where two elves and a flying horse. He thought "What a motley crew, I wonder if they can help me find my way around?" and started walking towards them. When he got close, he suddenly stopped, grabbed his head, and collapsed on the ground.

Mavis looked at the strange undead and then spoke to Morti, " I fear if I go on like this with this huge void in my being. I will go insane or start draining other people's souls to give me a sense of wholeness."
He was having another flashback, but this one was bad, bad for the soul, or what little soul he had left.
He saw his past self walking throught the woods, and stopping to look at the Blighted ground. "I'm getting close. You can go now." he said to the guards escorting him. The guards saluted him and left. "This is going to be fun..." time sped up, to the point where he saw himself gather information about the city defences, and saw himself running from a pack of ghouls and a couple vampire guards...then he woke up.
Yurin stood back up, and felt slightly weak from the flashback, but remebered a few spells. He continued his walk towards the group...
"Then I guess we are off to seek you a soul." He replied
"The true essence of a soul... it is quite unique you know," remarked Ar'mai. "Legend says that a soul can not be truly be taken from its body but rather the body has to release it for some reason... such as extreme pain."
Bael'ther looked at the strange creature that had fallen to the ground. While thoughts rushed through Ar'mai's brain.
What a strange pair these two are...
One an illegal lich searching for a soul...
The other a strangely knowledgable traveler...
OOC : The color from Yurin is stating to fade. From a pink color of a living human to a pale blue.
Yurin approached them and said "I'm sorry about the...incident...back there. I was raised only a small while ago." He swept off his robe, and started to look around for something while thinking "This one emits a powerful dark aura, I can feel it, and I'm just starting to get my power back..."

Mavis looked upon the newly raised undead.
"Anyway," Ar'mai continued, "As you have admitted to doing something illegal in these lands, I am sure you wont mind if I break a law and re-cast my Holy Shield?" She said as she readied herself.
"What a merry band we make, a lich, two elves, one mute, a winged horse, and possibly a Blighted One." Lorathin thought to himself, wondering if any would think to question him on his knowladge.

Turning to Morti she said, "I assume you aren't of the undead? Though you do possess quite detailed knowledge..."
Yurin takes a few steps back as well, knowing the Holy Shield will harm him. He notices a squirrel, and stares at it. He mumbles a few words and shoots a shadowy bolt from his hand that hits the squirrel. Upon contact, the squirrel vaporizes, and all that is left is a skeleton. "That's new..." he says out loud, hoping someone noticed. "Anyway, what are all of you doing out here anyway? I heard the part about the soul and stuff. "Just as I thought. I could feel it from a few yards away, and I'm still regenerating my powers...I was never close to a lich, even in life. I would remember that for sure..." he says. He starts to look around for more targets to...test...his skills on.
Bael'ther stares down upon the newcomer with contempt. Ar'mai glares at him, "Why did you harm that poor squirrel..."
Yurin quickly looks at the two elves and says "I needed a target, and it was there...and there's another one!" he says and starts to mumble another spell...

"You shouldn't torment squirrels." Lorathin said as he conjured a minor rainstorm, putting the tree out.
Ar'mai scowled at the tormentor but was relieved that the other two shared her respect of nature... to whatever extent. "I was about to do that..." she commented to Morti, "But I guess as long as it was done, it doesn't matter."
"You say you picked up such extensive knowledge along the way... what way would that be?"
He mocks Lorathin silently "'You shouldn't torment squirrels.' Bah..." And is slightly saddened by the fact that his fire is gone.

Mavis then adds, "I have respect for any creature that tries to surrive in this acursed landscape."

"Some more than others..." Ar'mai said accusingly. "You are certainly more than you let on to be... no?"
"Well I certainly couldn't be less, now could I?" He asked with a grin.
"I don't see why you couldn't be..." she said, "Come now... the truth."

"Your cryptic and smooth talking will not able you to evade my questioning," remarked Ar'mai, "Now if you are done being a smart-ass I would appreciate an honest answer."
"The honest answer is you will not get a honest answer out of me." Lorathin replied, "Thought if you practice magick, you should be able to get a hint of my identity, depending on how skilled you are. Or you could try other methods beside plain asking to coax information out of me."

"Well I do practice white magic... although I don't know what you mean," Ar'mai said.
On a whim she decided to remark on the odd marks on his face, "You have an odd assortment of marks on your face... what are they from?" Bael'ther looked confused as he stared at the man's face, unknowing of what Ar'mai was talking about.
"Do you mean my hair or eyes, well they're perfectly natural, as far as I was born with them." He replied, thought he could tell she was refering to the Lurker Mark. If she wanted information on That, she'd have to ask directly, and possibly add a gaes to get a somewhat honest answer.
Ar'mai gave him a look with clear intentions. She then raised a finger into the air and trace the pattern of the marks on his face. Suddenly a glowing white mark appeared on his face and began to burn.
Bael'ther continued to remain confused.

Bael'ther became annoyed at his not understanding or seeing of the marks.
"And your point is?" Lorathin asked, "You also seem to be confusing your companion."
Ar'mai looks over Bae'ther and notices the confused look on his face. "Its quite obvious he can't see the marks like me..." Ar'mai said, "So... tell us the truth about yourself... what are the marks from?"
"Graduation." Lorathin replied
Ar'mai scowled, "Would you care to be any less vague..."
"If I cared to be less vague, then I would be." Lorathin said, "See how that works."
"Only those who are scared need to hide the truth," Ar'mai said.
"Or those who wish the truth to remained concealed." Lorathin replied
"Why conceal it, is the question that you have been dodging..." Ar'mai said.
She proceeded to chant a prayer under her breath...
Gods of Justice...
Gods of Truth...
Curse this man to only speak the truth,
Unlock his lips and force his voice out,
But snatch is air if he does decieve.
"Now that wasn't very nice, or really apropriate now was it?" Lorathin asked as he mentally reviewed for a nice counter-spell.
"Well its not nice to decieve others..." Ar'mai rebutted. "Now... tell me about your past."
"Well I entered this Blighted land, spoke with a few skeletons, then met some vamps, entered the capital, then met Mavis here, and then we departed, and arrived here." Lorathin replied
"Go farther back..." Ar'mai commanded.
"Well, my father got busy with my mother, and nine months and three days later I was born." Lorathin replied
"How about you discuss who you are and why you are really here in Deatharon?" Ar'mai said as her level of frustration rose.
"I am me, and I've already given my reason to be here." Lorathin replied
"I pity ye of little faith..." said Ar'mai as she became quiet.
"I have plenty of faith, and will you remove this silly spell?" He asked
Ar'mai didn't respond or even aknowledge his request.
"If you won't lift it, I guess I'll have to break it." He then spoke a quick breaking spell, which, since the spell wasn't lifted would cause a fair bit of painful, but harmless backlash.
Although it caused her slight pain, Ar'mai still didn't aknowledge that 'Morti' had done anything. She simply continued walking with her head facing forward.
He walked over to the winged horse, "So, why is your female friend over there so interested in me?" He ask the horse.
OOC : Nice conversation on page 15, pretty funny.
Yurin was staring into nothingness when he came to and noticed the two arguing over something, not quite sure what it was though...
Gael'kadar bucked and kicked out his legs at Morti. Bael'ther turned and stared at the man, warning him to stay away from Ar'mai's horse.
"Testy arn't you." Lorathin said to the horse as he avoided the kick.
He stared at the horse, and then at the man. "That man looks sort of like the wizard in my flashback...I wonder..." He quickly turned away and stared at the elf woman, then to the other elf, and asked "When are we gonna start moving?"
"He doesn't like strangers," Ar'mai said as she lept onto Gael'kabar's back. Instinctively the horse began to walk forward with Bael'ther following closely behind, "Well come on..."
"Fair enought." Lorathin replied
"Finally!" Yurin said, and followed behind the four.

Mavis watchs the others he decides to follow but he stays in the shadows...
"Hey Mavis, you're our native guide, so come up here." Lorathin commented to Mavis.
"I don't think he knows any more than the rest of us about this place," commented Ar'mai, "But yeh... might as well take the lead."
"If nothing else, he can intimidate any natives who are overly hostile." Lorathin replied

Mavis smiles and saids, " Very well then but if we get into a hand to hand fight. We send the Elven fighter up front." Mavis walked up to front of the group...
Ar'mai giggled, "I don't think he would mind one bit..."
"Fair enought." Lorathin replied

Mavis walks onward towards the East. The Corruption of the Grand Shadow Empire was not as strong here thanks to it nearing the border. Mavis wondered if the Empire would try to expand this way. He kept that to himself however...
"So, do you have any destination in mind, or just to wander, so you can find the secrets of soul-crafting?" Lorathin asked as they walked.

Mavis saids, "I was going to wander to learn the Soul craft as you call it."
"One of the closed methods would be to try and talk to the Fates." Lorathin commented
