And my country's name is Syskeyia - Sys-key-ia, NOT "Syskia."
Nothing personal, just want to know my country's name is spelled right. :)
And, just for complettion, Syskeyia is pronounced "Sis-kay-ee-uh" :P )

Well I certainly would be willing to create a zeppelin chart, however the main problem with aircraft and conventional land combat vehicles is the fact that well they pretty much all tend to be roughly the same size and while a comparison chart would be in order a size comparison chart would be all but pointless. I do not have unlimited time really however feel free to post them as I do intend to do something about it in the near future however please keep to the rules already stated.

I would also like to say that I wish to create a chart for the esoteric giant land combat vehicles. I have a thing for giant tracked insanity ..and I blame the insanity on watching too much invader zim lately.

I can't post a photo yet, but i have the Skywalker-class aircraft/submarine carrier planned. Basically, it has a small airplane hangar, and what would normally be an airplane hangar is a submarine pen, located underwater. The aircraft that can be launched are VTOL or SVTOL only, as normal carrier aircraft take up too much space and must be used in larger quantities to be effective. The ship is 400 meters long, and can hold and launch 4 attack submarines, heck, even launch 2 at a time. The usefulness of this carrier is that it can launch submarines, and also launch fighters that can get rid of anti-submarine aircraft. It can travel at 30 knots, and has several anti-ship and anti-air missiles

Aircraft: F-35 Joint Strike Fighter, Harrier, any other VTOL, maximum 20 at a time

It should be noted that I intend to start an aircraft chart, this will be inclusive of lighter than air vessels. Please submit your works according to the terms stated below.

1. Select or draw your aircraft. Try and get it on a white background instead of fancy swanky doga backgrounds. The image must be from directly above, below or in profile. A silhouette is acceptable.

2. Please, no unoriginal artwork, any unoriginal artwork shall not be accepted.

3. Host the picture of your NS aircraft somewhere.

4. Post a link to the picture (not the picture itself, please DO NOT link
to nebulous shop fronts) .

5. Post the greatest dimension of the aircraft be it length wingspan or other.

GMC built bombers based on the An-225?please, the AN-225 looks like an over struffed sausage with massive single engines hanging by their lonesome precariously from the wings. The B-95 (the one in refference tot he qoute) has a sort of B-58 hustler combined with the elegance of a B-29... a nice combo in my opinion...

ABOVE all else original artwork http://img18.exs.cx/img18/1148/BBN3FinalMod1.jpg THAT is an example of what I won’t accept, a poorly edited Yamato. I’m sorry “don’t piss us off” I can’t accept that image as a valid entry onto the chart. I will accept ships that people would interpret ugly or poorly drawn, I will accept ships that are of any tech level, though I will be splitting of very FT ships but I will not accept works that are stolen art.

Please don’t complain about this rule this is a respect and legal consideration. The bolded section was done by him, no emphasis by me added.

I could care less how much you changed them. 30% effort in altering an image does not an original make...

Besides I simply noted my objection, that means squat if Zep dosent agree. But let me ask you something, If I changed the bow, the color, and the name of the Doujin SD does that make it my property or even an original image? And if so does that change (or somehow disregard) the fact that Freethinkers would be seriously pissed?
Artitsa
20-08-2005, 23:55
This is so rediculous. I can just redraw them, and it will look the exact same, and you'd never know. I would, since the SSBN is spliced from about 6 different subs, including my originals.

And why are YOU getting involved. Thats what really peeves me off; Why do YOU have to start shouting; If the thread-creator believes it to be plagerism, then he will deal with it; You are not the thread-creator so sit down, and submit your pictures. Simple as that. If Zep decides they are copies, then I will indeed redo them.

And I've seen DPUO's work... he uses the actual line drawing of a historical ship and just adds an extra turret... or some VLS tubes... in that case it is still plagerism. If he changed the hull, added some VLS tubes, moved the super-structure, etc, the ship is visibly different.

And what gives YOU the authority to make me sit down? Im not going to let you try to drag me into a Flame war, but what you did was bloody BLATENT. Those images have been on the web for YEARS and you went and mangled it for your own credit.

Why does it tick me off? because I spend time and effort to do ORIGINAL work. I dont post edited stuff because I feel that would be wrong. Is that Wrong? that In a chart Dedicated to original artwork that I would feel dirty and underhanded in posting something that is NOT mine? I dont think so. So you can rant all you'd like about how I'm 'interfering' or whatever sin you feel Ive committed and shut the hell up and accept that you ripped someone elses work.

GO! draw them again, put the effort in, make them look the same thats bloody fine; But atleast put the effort in. Its the effort that is deserveing not the final product. Dont disrespect all those who spent their time to create something by trying to sneak in a thing you spent a few minutes worth of in Photoshop or MSpaint.

Sir, please do not attack me on the internet.

And how long do you think it took me to do that SD? Hmm? So you are saying that if someone does not have the ub3r-l33t MS paint skills that you have, they cannot post anything for the author of the thread to add to this image that only serves to show NS ships. Wow, real-elitest.

When Zep tells me to redo them, then I'll redo them. Until then, go away, and do not tell me what to do. If you think that I don't deserve to have them on the charts, well thats great, keep it to yourself.

I never stated in my post that I had fully drawn these. I said: Heres four subs! I didn't say: Here's four subs that I definatly drew myself with no pieces taken from others whatsoever. And how do you know if I put effort in or not? Can you tell how much I altered them? Maybe I completely changed the body so it actually resembles something that would have a minor acoustic signature unlike the original. You don't know.

I have not attacked you sir, questioned your principles perhaps but I have not attacked you. I merely responded to your suggestion that I sit down and shut up. Likewise I did not shout anything, the reason I didnt go and post links to the original images (and I feel that would be excessive and inflamatory to do so now), and your copies directly in this thread was because I was hoping that Doc would see the information I sent him, and have this resolved queitly.

Likewise I have never criticised anyones work in this thread or elsewhere. However when someone post in this thread with the intention of having it added to the chart it is implied that you are submitting original works of your own doing. But I will be sure to differentiate my submissions from now on by adding "that I definatly drew myself with no pieces taken from others whatsoever" if only to remove any doubt.

Actually I CAN tell how much you changed them, Id prefer not to have to go and provide illustrations to prove said point, but yes I am well aware how much or little they have been altered. Ive got nothign to defend here, and Im ending it here, Doc has the information, Images and authority so I'll leave it to him. But that does not mean that I have no right to object to having an edited image squeezed in along with others who took the full time and effort.

blahblahblahblah.... lets wait for Doc, hmmmk? I do not really mind them personally, but I have not seen the original artwork so it is hard for me to judge. While you did indeed put effort into the pieces Artitsa, that is not the point, nor was it ever. They are still copied and altered original images. I cannot, and will not accept them. I commend you for keeping relatively civil but I must condemn you for doing something I strictly prohibited for good moral and legal reasons. I do check all designs against my own basic knowledge and a rather handy penguin spotting guide. Please do not insult me, those who have submitted pieces (though I reserve the right to put the damn silly sign beside there submissions), or the creators of the original pieces or the readers of this chart by your plagiarism. Do not allow this to occur again. The only action within my immediate aegis is simply to not include the offending items however this is your only warning, I will not tolerate further incidents as from your posts and your work you have proven you are far from a fool though you may be prone to foolishness as are we all at times.

Chart Updates will be underway tomorrow from GMT 10:00.

The Keithshire Navy is primarily a short-range, coastal defense force that relies on fast attack craft. The bulk of the fleet is made of light raiding vessels that are designed to occupy an enemy fleet while Keithshire's medium cruisers decimate hostile capital ships with heavy anti-ship weapons.

Wanderer-Class Missile Cruiser (http://www.keithandkara.com/keith/NationStates/Navy-MissileBoat.jpg) - 209 meters in length. As the backbone of the Keithshire fleet, the Wanderer mounts a forward turret carrying heavy missiles. The missiles can be varied to provide anti-ship, bombardment, and strategic nuclear capabilities. The Wanderer also mounts five ship-to-ship 70mm defensive turrets, depth charges, and heavy anti-aircraft guns.

Cavalier-Class Artillery Cruiser (http://www.keithandkara.com/keith/NationStates/Navy-GunBoat.jpg) - 209 meters in length. A variant of the Wanderer hull design, the Cavalier mounts a forward turret with three 50cm bombardment guns for anti-ship and tactical support roles. The Wanderer also mounts five ship-to-ship 70mm defensive turrets, depth charges, and heavy anti-aircraft guns.

Commando-Class Fast Attack Cutter (http://www.keithandkara.com/keith/NationStates/Navy-AttackBoat.jpg) - 53 meters in length. The most numerous class of vessel in the Keithshire fleet, the Commando carries torpedoes, light missiles, depth charges, and anti-missile guns.

The Keithshire Space Force is an orbital bombardment force, maintaining a large number of tactical "Thor" batteries and a limited number of strategic weapons. Aside from these bombardment stations and support craft, the Space Force fields several squadrons of smaller vessels designed to protect their orbital assets.

Adventurer-Class Orbital Superiority Craft (http://www.keithandkara.com/keith/NationStates/Space-OrbitShip.jpg) - 55 meters in length. As a ship-to-ship space superiority vessel, the Adventurer carries forty ASGM-2 long-range guided missiles. Alternately, the Adventurer can carry eight SSNM-1B nuclear missiles for use against large orbital dreadnoughts and fighter fleets.

Those look like fine vessels...aside from the lack of colour. The background of the chart, if you haven't noticed, is white. If ZMI put those ships on the chart, it would be a tough time trying to see them. I don't know why the ships are white like that, but it might be a good idea to add some colour, just so they would be more visible on the chart.

An d is this official all nations that have militaries have these ships.
No. The ships are of the nations that, uhm, submitted them.

Second where are the army units like foot soldiers and cavalry and artillery.
No plans for those at the moment. Not in the short term at least.

Here is the MT version of the MES flagship, the MESV Final Victory. It is 1.1km's long (which is massive for a battleship), and has 18' cannons in six tripple mounts, and two sponson-style double mounts. It also carries 12' cannons in 12 double mounts on the sides. It is powered by two nuclear reactors, and the center is reinforced with a very large slab of steel to prevent buckling over high seas. The front of the ship is designed to dive under the waves instead of going over them, to prevent the hull from snapping.

Size: 1.1km
http://edf.tauniverse.com/MT%20Final%20Victory.jpg

---

Here is the Thunder class Heavy Cruiser for FT(Might be already submitted). The ship is armed with four large forward-firing plasma cannons, four fusion torpedo launchers, 30 anti-fighter pulse laser cannons, 30 anti-fighter bolters, and five quad barrel, turret mounted heavy pulse cannon turrets, designed to engage corvettes. The ship's weakness is the lack of shielding, which is compensated by heavy armor. The ship can carry two squadrons of fighters. This vessel is the oldest ship still in service; through all variants, the ship is slightly over 100 years old. The purple-shielded heads are reminscent of the old era of massive arrays to open a slipsteam rift for high-speed travel, but all versions except the long retired original versions that omit the massive hyperdrive which took away critical space inside the hull. It is to be replaced by the very modern Punisher class.

Size: 850m
http://edf.tauniverse.com/Thunder%20Class.jpg

---

Here is the Punisher class Heavy Cruiser for FT. The ship is armed with four massive forward-firing plasma cannons, six fusion missile launchers, eight fusion torpedo launchers, 60 anti-fighter pulse laser cannons, 60 anti-fighter bolters, four large turret-mounted plasma cannons for engaging enemy cruisers attacks its flank, and four quad barrel, turret mounted heavy pulse cannon turrets, designed to engage corvettes. The ship can carry six squadrons of fighters and one squadron of corvettes inside of its 'hammerhead', a notable feature of the EDF's heavy cruisers. The hammerhead in this ship compared to the Thunder class, is designed for ramming in a heated dogfight. The slipstream emiter is in the hammerhead, which is invisible at first glance due to the new technologies. Reliability due to the advanced technologies has been relatively poor compared to tried and tested designs, but is expected to be improved.

I got a different length. When I zoomed in with Photoshop, I saw that the 8 inch gun's barrel had a few errant color pixels underneath it. I also considered a small one inch barrel thickness, and got 2855 inches, or 72.5 meters, which seems more reasonable, no?

Its not a matter of "can't have" or being hard on you in particular, its a matter of "who owns the image rights" and "if I put it on the chart will some person shut the whole shindig down" now you boyo I donnay trust further than I can hurl a greased rhino, and that image is beyond just a little bit suspect.

(A) You have offended in the past and clearly did not read the rules or thought us lax in checking submissions. Either way I’m not happy with that.

(B) That submission has no length and or category so I can't put it up in any case.

I give you a simple set of choices,

1. If you admit that you did wrong and show where you got the image I will accept future real submissions from you after a probationary period.

2. Prove beyond reasonable doubt that the image was done by you or for you and you hold the rights to use it.

3. You don't admit what you did wrong and when we find where it came from and I assure you we will do so you will be banned from submitting to this chart. Forever.

I'm finding it hard to get a decent submission without breaking the rules. The point isn't finding someone else's work that nobody recognizes. The point is to make your own, original artwork, or use something that you have the artist's permission to use.

For instance, this ugly piece of junk (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v251/Tindalos/DoGA%20Work/esther1.jpg) was something that I made using Doga. If I thought it was good, and if I took the time to figure out its length, I would submit it.

Compare with this (http://www.futurevisions.net/pchen/digital/02_Gunstar2.jpeg) which is a Gunstar from the movie 'The Last Starfighter'. I couldn't submit this as I didn't make it and don't have permission to use it.

Further compare with this monster (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v453/GMCMA/GMC/Gnoph-Keh_image-Final3.jpg) which I didn't make (GMC did), but do have permission to use (it was my rough concept, he graciously made it for me in Shade).*

Starting to see what people are talking about? Tech level has nothing to do with it. It's all about if the work is original or not.

* Okay, so the Gnoph-Keh isn't technically in service any more, but the Socialist Union used it. You get the idea...

There's plenty of people willing to take commissions on NS, ie draw stuff for you and give you permission to use those images for your own stuff. Doc just doesn't accept stuff on the NS vessel charts that isn't created by NS players, except as scale examples. [as with the Star Destroyers on the spaceship chart]

105mm multi-purpose gun "Respite".

Put it just above the sabre with the 140 mm howitzer, it's a smidgle smaller and only a bit higher.

Edit: picture gone due to image no longer being needed.

The Ignatius Vonvachit-class LST.

Dunno the exact size, but the biggest gun there has a caliber of 8 inches, so try and measure from there.

(The gun on the original ship, done for me by Willink (http://img174.imageshack.us/img174/2243/landingship4zs.png), was 5-inches, but since my Navy eschews the 5-inch for the 8-inch...

Diddnt know if you were gonna use it, lol

Here is the newest Resolution Class CA in our non-planetary navy, the "Intrepid" (http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y293/jeudesprit/Intrepid.jpg)

Length: 220m (excluding barrel lengths)

The finest of the line, and likely one of the last with technological advances as they are... Retro-fitting and overhauls likely during ship's lifetime.

That's a bad angle on the Scorpion pic, makes it hard to compare, but the turrets are definitely different.

It looks more like the halo scorpion was inspiration - the tread layout and turret, as well as the main chassis, are all slightly different.

ZMI - can you put in ze F-type hull?

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v251/Gizeh/F-Type-Hull.png

Misc. 131 meters. A Caesari Shipyards product.

And to put out the fact that this hull exists for a reason...

IES Fantes DDG 4 Guided Missle Destroyer. Same length.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v251/Gizeh/DDG4IESFantes.png

IES Medina AFS 12 Combat Supplies Transport. I think it's like 149 meters, the scale is 10 pixels : 1 meter.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v251/Gizeh/AFS12IESMedina.png

Just put them down as variants of the F-Type.

... Yes right well you know if that were infact an image and stats of something or a comment I would do something about it. However given that it looks like a badly copied link to a page on a dedicated forum to your stuff I would complain as I specificaly request no links to nebolous things.

However as that isnt even a valid link when I paste in the rest of the invision url I have to ask .. buh ? Wha? where?
