I was torn as to name it 'Friesland,' 'Fryslan,' et cetra. Though the latin "Frisia" gives it a romantic feel harkening to the recognition & consideration of it by the romance countries when expanding in the times before the dark ages.

Make a new future for Frisia as an independent nation in archaic time on unto the now and beyond. If you're thinking about joining one of the many netherland themed regions, think beyond that culturally to what was very much at one time a different country co-habiting the area. (Like the Goths were to Sweden)

I made this mostly out of suprise that it did not already exist, especially with the amount of variations of the netherlands / low lands regions.

Some information about the climate, spread, etc.

The climate is mild for most of the region. Only some parts of the region like Northern Platan (unpopulated) have brutal winters. Otherwise, the summers are mild and see temperatures ranging from the mid 60s-mid 80s.

The region is broken into 106 different islands, some big and some small. The biggest is the Veganican Island (home to Veganica), Count Ivyan Island (home to Count Ivy), and Fischer Island home to Larogera. The other 103 are smaller. Only 40 of the 106 are populated for most are just beautiful tourist areas.

The Region "City Ankh Morporkh" is a great region with few missconcepts, it is dedicated to follow the path of the Discworld Novels and we think we are doing a rather good job at the moment.

The bad side with it all, is some few annoyances like wild stampede dragons, dwarf strikes, the smell of the river Ankh and of course.. the walking of the dead (If you are undead, I apologise, but you do smell and you are a bit of annoying. First we bury you, then you stand up and walk away. Lots off work for nothing. Really clutter up the streets some days). Not to forget the occasional bangs from the Unseen University together with the occasional grand explosion from the alchemist guild.

To conclude, if you are a reader of the Discworld novels and feels this is remotly (of course you are interested) interesting, send a special designed puppet or your main nation. Doesn't matter wich. And please be active if you join.

Tired of the tyranical rule of long-established regions?
The Satellite Nations of Earth comprise of a group of nations founded in the gravitational field of Earth. The nations of this region are generally founded by people who feel that Earth can no longer offer what they want. This can range from crackpot dictatorships, to communist regimes, to rich CEOs that wish to be kings.
Nations generally consist of immense space-stations, large asteroids, or occasionally pieces of space junk held together by magnetised pieces of iron. Your nation's forests are not at risk if you join this region; both space-stations and asteroids can be equipped with fertile soil for such natural beauty, not to mention the all-important issue of oxygen. As for space-junk nations, they can buy air off of neighboring nations, or just let the hot-air from politicians do the job.
The oxygen industry is of particular importance for this region, other strong industries include the IT industry, and the scap-metal industry (space-junk nations should be wary of unscruplous scrap-dealers, whole nations have been known to disappear).

Scandanavia, :p an independant and peaceful region for those who value solitude and the tranquil majesty of the natural world. If you wish to build a nation that is focused primarily on creating a tolerant, supportive society with sound social conscience and ethical values (need not be of any particular creed, all from atheists to 'the accepting religious' welcome) then consider Scandanavia. We of Scandanavia believe in truth and compassion. It is not a requisit to be democratic necessarily, nor is it necessary to belong to any particular political persuasion. The sole criteria for this region is that the government respects the citizens and is sincere in looking after the nations inhabitants (no psychotic dictatorships sorry). It is also hoped nations in this region will preserve the natural environment in fairly good condition. A high level of community involvement is not necessary, or expected, or even necessarily encouraged, a sense of placid amiability towards other nations in the regions will suffice :rolleyes: . That said UN membership is encouraged and if you have any ideas it would be good to be able to put proposals before the UN. How exactly our community will work (i.e. who becomes UN delegate etc...) is something I envisage all members of the region having a say in (if they wish). Primarily though I would hope all nations, regardless of economy, would be on equal standing. Well that about sums it up, if you wish to move to Scandanavia, either simply do it or post a telegram, my nation is 'the nomadic peoples of Gogleddunigoledd'. :p
P.S. I would consider it fun to engage in a bit of regional politics role-play every now and then though I can't devote all my time to the region since I have commitments (i.e. I am a uni student and need to study at least some of the time)

I am from the great and powerful region of Q102, well we are not powerful ...yet, but with your help we will be.

The problem with the big and settled regions is that, well, their settled. There is very little room for change, no room to expand and grow, because they have already grown to be the regions that they are.

We here at Q102 would love to have your nation here, to become active members in our forum. and active members in the Nation States world. We have started at humble beginnings and will continue to strive towards the great region, this is our continuing goal.

As you may have guessed by our region’s name we are a region of peace. We believe in freedom, democracy, human rights, happiness, love and friendliness. However, we are not afraid of a good debate, our regional forum is full of active debates about wordly issues and (real life or RP related) recen events.

Members:
Currently, there are slightly more than 33 nations in our region; tourists, diplomats, residents, citizens, officers and elders. Almost all of them joined our forum (http://s10.invisionfree.com/A_More_PeacefulWorld/index.php?act=idx), and quite a bunch of them are active daily.

History:

Our region itself is not a very old region. This is because the region was established after a merge between two regions the SMS and the old-AMPW, former allies. Through ratification of the two constitutions: The Articles of Association and The Articles of Federation of the SMS and AMPW, respectively, we write one united constitution, carrying and explaining in detail the laws and policies of our region.

Organisation:

Four Elders are the oligarchs, they do not vote on ratification of laws, nor do they participate in discussions as an Elder (so as to remain neutral), they announce law changes, special occasions and when the unfortunate action has to be taken, ejection of a nation, although that rarely happened in either regions, and has never happened in our region so far. Their shared nation is the AMPW Elders.

For each important department voluntary nations stepped forward to manage it, we have a Domestic Affairs Officer, a Supervisor of Elections, an Immigration Officer, a foreign Affairs Officer (has to be re-appointed) and an Intelligence Officer. All are responsible for certain tasks, they are appointed by the Elders. A new department in the advisory council can be created by amending the Constitution, which goes via popular vote.

The delegate is democratically elected each month by all UN member states.

Other members are classified as tourists, residents or citizens. Tourists are nations that just came in, and still have to state their reason of presence, hopefully they want to stay in our region, like we encourage you to come over here and see how lovely this region is. Residents are nations that joined the forums. Citizens are nations that, due to significant contribution or loyalty have been promoted by other citizens. They can choose a place on our maps and are included in all statistics. However, daily statistics of UN rankings are gathered and published by the Psylo-Werbia Statistical Institute (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Psylo-Werbia_Statistical_Institute) for all people present in our region.

Other Information:

We regularly have regional feasts and activities, participation in that and all the talks, chats and discussion in the forum, unifies us. We are not anti-UN not extremely pro-UN, this varies per nation, and we allow this freedom. Although many left-leaning states reside here, we also have Republicans, Libertarians, Brazilians, Dutch, Swedes and other political groups and nationalities. Even a peaceful region like ours discusses the needs for war, however, we are not fond of region-crashing and invading.

So. You are looking for a region and don’t know where to start? Consider the Federated Klatchian Coast! We are one of the more established regions in Nationstates with a current population of 20 nations. But, in this case, each nation is considered a “state” of the FKC, since the FKC itself itself is a “super nation”. But there are one or two states within the FKC that have not fully integrated themselves into the Klatch, so yes, it is possible to roleplay that particular storyline.

We concentrate on the role play aspect of NS, and don’t take kindly to invaders or griefers. If you’re one of those types then sorry, but you won’t find our region very attractive. As well, if you happen to be one of those morons who actually want to infiltrate the Klatch and kick everyone out (and morons have tried before) then you are wasting your time. We are quite accepting of various tech levels and political ideologies. Most of the Klatch is modern tech to post modern tech. At least 3-4 states are future tech. We’ve had states before composed entirely of orcs, pixies, goblins or whatever species you can think of and armed only with swords and spears. One state, as far as we know, concentrates all of its efforts on beer production. As far as government styles go, we have a wide mix. This site (http://www.lawl.net/sss/regional_stats.php?region=the_federated_klatchian_coast) gives a good breakdown of the various governments found within the Klatch.
