The NS flag service is resurected, it now operates out of the East Pacific off site forum, currently it is only me working there, however anyone with flag making skills is welcome to join,
I ask that only one request per person at a time, as I am the only person operating it for the time being, so please stop by should you need one,

*note, I will only make flags tha fit the legal definitions of NS flags, IE NO swasticas, or other stuff Violet and Max have ruled illegal, such as gratuitus nekidness, or whatnot.

for applicants for work, if you are good, I will put a specific forum for persons to directly request work from you.


for persons needing flags, here are my guidlines

0, please post your request in the Ep offsite forum, in the NS Flag service category, I dont want to see the tech forum here lagged down,
1, please be patient, as I am currently alone,
2, please specify flag size, 107x71 (stock) 300x200 (my standard size)
there might be a slight size modification if you choose 300x200 as I
have to modify the size to keep a decent resolution,
3, describe what you want, and I will do my best to make it, for example
text you want on it, style of script, colors, specific images on it,
and a link to something similar if you ar ehaving trouble descrbing it.
4, your flag when done, will be posted in teh EP forum, so be sure to check
it often as I usually work in sporatic hours and in bursts of several
flags at a time.
5, also, as an Unpaid, Freelance Artist, I reserve the right to refuse any flag job for any reason, Photoshoppers Perogative, (to date I have only refused two flags one was a potential TOS violation, the other for Moral reasons)

A flag with the Greek letters for Corsairio, as best as you can correlate them, in Symbol Font, Maize Yellow against a Slate Blue bakground on the upper half of a tricolor. The other colours should be white with a bust of socrates off center like Spain's coat of arms is on their flag, and the third should be Black with a red geometric sphere off center like the bust in the white part.

Slate Blue for Deep Coastal Oceans
White for Civilized Thought, Purity, and Progressive Public Policy.
Black for great Mount Kokulith, representing foundation.
Yellow letters for our ascendency from Athens,
Socrates for our new reformist culture
Red Sphere for our passionate pursuit of knowledge

I know that not all of these are particuarly good (the only one that I deem exceptional is the one for Qaaolchoura), but I also do not spend much time on my own flags (maybe five minutes tops except for Qaaolchoura) , and I could do a much better job.

What I meant was for you to type the string "CORSAIRIO" in whatever photoshop you use and put in in the slate blue tricolor. No translating.

Sorry for getting you lost in translation.

What is wrong with Paint?

I only got Photoshop (Elements) a couple days ago, and before then I would always use Paint and nobody would notice.

The only thing that I have done in Photoshop so far is my entry for the Lancre Map Competition.

I would say Photoisland but I have a low opinion of them, when you link you have to use their link for auction, and sometimes it wont give you a link.

you should be able to upload them to your office, and link them here with it, that is whay I have been doing.

I know how to do it with Flash and Fireworks, although until my father upgrades my comp I can not install them.

And I of course went the long way around and used Paint.

I forgot about Photo Editor, and Photoshop takes forever to load.

Paint is hopeless for resizing images unless you want something to look like you sneezed on it.

Background black with random uber-bright colors (translation: neon green/orange/pink o.o have fun) striped in random widths across it. o.o I wanna platypus, holding a doughnut in the middle. And across the bottom "explain THIS" in whatever loopy-ish script thingie font you think looks good o.O ooh! And "explain this" should be, erm, red >_> so no red in the background, don't want blending.

(No seriously, for my brother's flag I used a dragon filched off google, and then he made me take a Chinese charecter (which he thinks means "dragon") and overlay it, which was also from Google)

It needs to have the stars on it though in this formation (it shows the structure of the government, the central one is the leader, the 5 ones surrounding that are the major departments, and the ones on the edges are the minor departments).

it shoudl work now, I reset it to override you with the regualr permissions
mask I tried logging in witha username in tha tgroup and ir works fine, coudl be jsut your cookeis are messed up

That'd mean it's either 4-pointed or eight-pointed, no?

That would be the easier one, but I think there are flags that have regular five-pointed stars. I'm assuming that there would have to be since a decagon can exist as a regular polygon

Well, there are some pretty pictures shown in this thread, but as flags...

Go see Good Flag, Bad Flag (http://www.nava.org/Publications/GFBF/gfbf-1.htm) for what a good flag should contain, and what it should avoid.

Notice particularly #1 (keep it simple) and #3 (esp. keeping to standard colors). These are the "rules" most often violated in the "flags" I've seen in this thread.

That's why I am endlessly surprised by the weekly newbie "6KB is too small" complaint. Look at my flag. Black and white, 2.5KB, and yet undeniably cool and in keeping with my national character. Half the time when newbies are exceeding 6KB with a 107x71 flag, they are using 24-bit colour or something, and have a gaudy flag that needs detailed examination before you spot all the features. All it takes is forethought and more careful consideration of aesthetics.

For the star to look the same when rotated in 90° increments, it must have four-fold symmetry. I.e., it must have a number of points that is a multiple of four; 4, 8, 12, etc.

Or do you mean the flag must look the same when rotated 90°? That means it must be square, plus the elements must be distributed correctly.

Of course it won't upload; it's over 6KB. Despite the supposed pixel-based limit, the only real limit is the number of bytes. 6 kilobytes is the only limit.

On the upload page, it says the limit is 6KB, but I've found that not to be the case. It's actually slightly lower, so if it's just under 6k, it probably won't work. You'll need to get it down to around 5.5k or so.

Perhaps it's a true 6000 bytes, rather than 6 x 1024 = 6144 bytes.

The ones I did for Arribastan are 4KB.

Arribastan: do you have a problem with the physical size---that is, with the dimensions in pixels? If so, I can make them smaller. They are 200 x 300 pixels at present.

it is probably his computer, as windows has a bad habit of adding KB to a image when you download it, especially when you drag and drop it, I recomend right clicking to download and make sure Windows isnt turning it into a BMP (windows Default as I remember) the BMP will make a 6 k pic upwards of 500k to a Meg.

My computer doesn't add to pictures I right-click and tell it "Save". It also doesn't turn it into a .BMP.

I'm using 98SE if that makes a difference.

On a related note: when I right-clicked and "save picture"ed the flag in this thread, it insisted it was named "index.php". Saving it under that name meant I couldn't open it with my graphics program. Saving it as "index.jpg" produced a perfectly acceptable JPG file.

However, if I saved it as "index.gif" or "index.png", it couldn't be opened.

Falange, what name did it save as? If "index.php", it might be your computer saved the entire page, not just the picture. Did you try opening the saved file with I.E.?

Youw own flag will look 107x71 to you, but looks it's 'actual size' to others viewing it. Just log out and look at your nation while not logged in (or while logged in as another nation).

A flag with a total of 11 vertical alternating red and white stripes (i.e. 6 red and 5 white). In the middle of the flag, the head of an alligator with a soccer ball between its teeth. Above the alligator's head, a golden ring (signifying the One Ring from Lord of the Rings) set at something like a 30 degree angle.

For the alligator's head I was thinking of something along the lines of this:

Hmmm.... To me, that "N" looks like a capital Pi.

I'm going to have to skip trying this one; I don't have a decent blackletter font (what I assume Zielony means by a "gothic" font). Word of warning: in font design, "gothic" means a very plain, very 'clean' font, .

A (or several, depends which works) honeybee(s) in front of a beehive on the left

And a honey jar on the right (with word 'Honey' on it)

Looks good, make it any size, however if you could make the hive and jar larger (can cover part of flower, and the jar yellow and the backround either softer and darker yellow...that'd be great.

It's a BMP... I converted it to Gif and still doesnt work...

ah a windows user, it is uploaded here as a Jpg, Windows by default saves images as BMP, when you right click to save it, if it gives you the option to save as JPG choose that, otherwise you will have to change your image saving preferences, I have no Idea how to do that though.
