None shall pass the flag service,

actually as I do more flags I actually decay my customer base, man come to think of it if I got paid for the flags, man that would be a small pile of change.

True. Of course you could always bump it (possibly even disguising youir bump as a meeningful comment).

But then fresh recruits keep coming in, so the customer base grows and shrinks at the same time. I think someone should make a formula for this...

Good Afternoon, and may richess be bestowed on all those who earn it,

Spending a day flying the flag of Awesomnia (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_nation/nation=awesomnia) above my head, what struck me most was that dollar sign in the left-top. Its a remarkably capitalist flag to be flown in what was originally a tranquil island paradise. When I came here in Ztorque (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_region/region=ztorque) my expectation was to find really laid-back flags filled with beach chairs, suns, and cocktails. So what would I find in a flag in a capitalist region? Cutesy kittens?

And thus began my journey through several capitalist regions. Ruthless Capitalists (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_region/region=ruthless_capitalists) was too small and harsh. They don't seem to be competing in cool flags either. It is generally easier to find a suitable flag in a large region! On to Capitalist Alliance (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_region/region=capitalist_alliance). Lots of chatting on the board, but the region seems to have slumped a bit from its heydays. The last message on the Civil HQ tells me it is a member of a treaty organization called MACTO, but seems to have somehow lost its ambassador along the way so now the question is what to do with this 'forgotten' treaty.

So on we go... Armageddon (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_region/region=armageddon), where I'm astonished to notice a guard won't let me in! That's not listed in the Regional Directory.

As it appears, most of its inhabitants have left to start a region called Conservatopia (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_region/region=conservatopia). I temporarily settle there to investigate the reasons why. Apparently the region Armageddon ran into some trouble after the Founder nation cxeased to exist. Conflict erupted and groups broke off to live in either Latter Day Saints (lead by NewCammon (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_nation/nation=newcammon)) or New Armageddon (lead by Laidir (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_nation/nation=laidir)). After some time of hard words being flung across both sides fortunately understood the importance of strength in unity and jointly started Conservatopia. The UN delegate of this fresh start for the old Armageddon region is now NewCammon, while the Founder is Laidir. I would've made an exception and stolen both flags if it wasn't for NewCammon not flying a custom flag (it's the standard Greenland flag, to be precise) So, I'm not picking favorites when I steal only the flag of the Founder, Laidir.

Edit: About Flag Thief 2

Spotlight on:
The Colony of Flag Thief 2
"Latest victim: The Constitutional Militocracy of Laidir"

Still Active
UN Category: Civil Rights Lovefest
Civil Rights: Frightening Economy: Good Political Freedoms: Corrupted

Location: the Rejected Realms
The Colony of Flag Thief 2 is a large, socially progressive nation, notable for its absence of drug laws. Its intelligent population of 45 million hold their civil and political rights very dear, although the wealthy and those in business tend to be viewed with suspicion.

The medium-sized, corrupt, liberal government juggles the competing demands of Social Welfare, Education, and Healthcare. The average income tax rate is 20%, but much higher for the wealthy. A very small private sector is led by the Basket Weaving industry, followed by Automobile Manufacturing and Door-to-door Insurance Sales.

Voting is voluntary, citizens can be frequently spotted going about their business stark naked, citizens are enjoying a recent large cut in taxes, and euthanasia is legal. Crime is moderate, and the police force struggles against a lack of funding and a high mortality rate. Flag Thief 2's national animal is the flag thief and its currency is the flag.

Flag Thief 2 is ranked 1722nd in the region and 100,333rd in the world for Largest Information Technology Sector.

Flag Thief has spent the last few days sending a few TMs to Laidir asking to be allowed back into the region, so I could return its flag. Since Laidir hasn't bothered to respond to any of my messages, while certainly being unidle, I am now left holding the flag of the Conservatopia Founder.

So... any ideas on what to do with the flag now? I'm open to your suggestions ;)

Good Afternoon Hippolovers of the world!

Feeling like it was time for some good fun and humor, I gathered my belongings and went for the only region I know of that has the word 'Humor' in it's name: Aqueous Humor Alliance (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_region/region==aqueous_humor_alliance), the descendent of the misnamed "Aqueus Humor Alliance". Sadly, the inhabitants are very protective of their humor as their region is guarded well and Flag Thief was unable to enter.

A little miffed at this, I decided some jokes might chear me up and left for JokeADay (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_region/region=jokeaday) only to discover their jokes are equally well guarded! These guards all over the place are becoming a nuisance.

Fortunately, I remembered in time that when almost all hope is lost, there's still some good humor left in the Hippo's of the world (French Hippo's or otherwise). When needed they will surely cheer us up! And so onto Liechtenstein (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_region/region=liechtenstein) I went to steal the flag of none other than Architeuthis (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_nation/nation=architeuthis). After all Architeuthis has a Hippo on its flag... Oh wait, it's a squid. ¿Qué Pasa, Hippo?

Heh.

Actually it is not. I know of at least one region which has had a founder appointed after EuroFounder. Many if you count the mods appointing puppets for a it or restoring founder after a griefing.

Fortunately this new delegate, Amarohalla (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_nation/nation=amarohalla), isn't unknown to the region as she has been the delegate there before.
Indeed they are not. Back when I was a n00b, thinking that the autoscript or refreshing of the UN happenings that the founder used was actual interest in my nation, I made Ztorque my first home outside the North Pacific (then moved to "A Better World" and created ZF before the day was out), and they had been delegate back then. Back then they only had six nations, so I would be willing to bet(If I did bet) that Amarohalla was the original delegate of Ztorque.

Your puppets' motto is really long overdue... Perhaps the populace spent too much time white water rafting? ;)

But seriously, that puppet was given foundership because it was denied refounding the region at its leisure (being the only native left) due to an act of cheating. Precisely: invaders filed a misleading report to the mods to regain entry into that region. The cheaters were deleted and in recognition of your puppets' lost opportunity it was granted foundership. It was not appointed founder after making an appeal to be granted foundership.

Howdy cowboys and cowgirls!

Squids can become big. Very big. Especially the Architeuthis (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_nation/nation=architeuthis) Dux. Thanks for pointing that out to Flag Thief, Nothingg (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_nation/nation=nothingg). To be honest, Flag Thief isn't really a big fan of sea food. I'm more of a steak lover. Nicely grilled, well done, barbeque sauce, Hmmmmmm. Juicy steak...

Ok, now I'm hungry.

Where to find something to eat around this place? I travelled to ITALIA (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_region/region=italia)... famous for their pasta's. But no, no flags to satisfy my appetite. On to France (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_region/region=france), famous for its cuisine. Again, no luck... And then it dawned on me... Where to get better food than the home of the steak... Texas (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_region/region=texas)!

/me travels to Texas

Admittedly, I didn't find a flag with a juicy grilled steak on it. Darn. That would've been my preference. But the UN delegate did have (yes, past tense!) a flag with a tasty taco on it. And so it was that the flag of the President of Texas, NewTexas (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_nation/nation=newtexas), came to fly over Flag Thief's head. I'll have it smile upon me as I have a well-deserved Taco dinner.

Speak to me, my friends! Breathe often, as to avoid Brain Damage ;)

Rarely has Flag Thief encountered such a warm welcome as in Texas (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_region/region=texas). Big Tex, leader of NewTexas (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_nation/nation=newtexas)
and the President of Texas, even sent me a contingent of trained courier-armadillos with a welcome wagon of great Texas delicacies - fresh, hot, beef and chicken fajitas complete with fresh salsa, gaucamole, tortillas and all the fixins. Now THAT's hospitality people! There's no Us And Them, just a friendly southern atmosphere welcoming any newcomers to the region. Big tex didn't even ask me to pay Money for the grand meal provided.

But alas, Time came once again to move along and find a new victim, hoping they would respond so well to Flag Thief's unusual manner of honoring their contribution to NationStates. One thing Flag Thief noticed in Texas were the celebrations for the first Texas-sponsored UN resolution: The United Nations Space Consortium. Congradulations from Flag thief as well! Let's now hope The Great Gig In The Sky formed by this new consortium will positively Eclipse all former efforts in space.

With the passing of that resolution, no next resolution came onto the UN floor. There's nothing in queue right now! So... which resolution is most likely to be next? Well, the resolution with currently the most votes, plus some time left to gather more, is "Children in War", by Sydia (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_nation/nation=sydia) from The North Pacific (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_region/region=the_north_pacific). I'll leave discussion of this proposal to the UN Forum, as I do not wish to end up On The Run from the moderators by starting an off-topic discussion here, but it's as good a reason as any for Flag Thief to steal that nation's flag. And what a colourful flag it is, the lightbeam splits giving you Any Colour You Like!

Heaven even has a new UN Delegate, Nicetopia (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_nation/nation=nicetopia). Now why would a place called Heaven want to have anything to do with a bureaucratic hell-hole such as the United Nations? Endless meetings, wimpy compromises, and politicians everywhere. At least the regional page now looks very positive with that smiley looking at all visitors. Have a nice day! Have a nice flag...

Good afternoon everybody,

What a shame I had to leave Heaven (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_region/region=heaven). For a Thief to get into Heaven is rare enough, but to then voluntarily leave it again... What was I thinking? The delegacy changed back to Pearly Gates (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_nation/nation=pearly_gates), which was my wake up call to use those gates and and once again leave the region I was in and search for another flag. Let's hope God Himself (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_nation/nation=god_himself) will be able to live with that. *keeps fingers crossed*

My first stop was Zhaucauozian Friendship (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_region/region=zhaucauozian_friendship). Yes, I guess I do deserve a medal just for spelling that right. My temporary presence there was to meet up with Qaaolchoura (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_nation/nation=qaaolchoura) (spelled correctly once more... now you know I'm using copy&paste ;)) to engage in a staring contest. A tough competition, as Flag Thief was All-State in Senior class in staring... though mostly out the window. Qaaolchoura has now twice sent me a telegram guessing my identity, and twice it has been wrong. Shame on you Qaaolchoura! Next time put on your thinking cap and don't make random guesses, just think about it!

After the staring contest (I'll let Qaaolchoura tell you how the match went down) Flag Thief moved on to an old invader region called Blue Moon (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_region/region=blue_moon). Quite some time ago the previous founder, Maine Road (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_nation/nation=maine_road), decided to quit the game and so a decision was made to refound the region. The previous delegate cleared the entire region and got modbombed in the process, as this is something a delegate is not allowed to do. Maine Road finished off the clearing job and a puppet founder recreated the region.

Recently Maine Road returned to the game, and so now I have stolen its flag to, belatedly, commemorate the event.

It wasn't a random guess. You are clearly somebody who knows the Tech and Mod forums, and you sense of humor seemed like that of Cog and Myrth.

Since I think that I rule out my next guesses of SiwasiAman on the grounds that they've not been in Nuts & Bolts for a while, and Reploid Pruductions on the grounds that she wouldn't have time for this, I'm now at a loss.

I have some other candidates in mind, but none of them have the right personality.

Greetings and Salutations,

During my stay in Blue Moon (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_region/region=blue_moon), something terrible happened. One of the leaders of the region, Blue Moon Lady, suddenly ceased to exist. There I was standing, holding the flag of their returned previous founder, Maine Road (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_nation/nation=maine_road), and then something like that happened.

The first reactions were that of amazement and confusion, though Playa Chk Is back (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_nation/nation=playa_chk_is_back), the founder of Mercia The Next Generation (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_region/region=mercia_the_next_generation) stated:
Um sad news Lady blue moon was ip banned and wont be allowed back in NS..... GIve me a couple days talking to the mods and asking for favors and i might get her back,,...if you want to kno more telegram me cause i have found out from her her self and tactical grace.

Now, don't all go off the handle and start telegramming Playa Chk Is back to satisfy your curiousity. Let's just sit back and wait until the answers present themselves. While I'm waiting in Mercia The Next Generation, I'll be flying the flag I stole from Tactical Grace. At least, for one day. I'm not sure what a forum moderator has to do with IP banning, but let's hope time wil tell.

Tactical Grace is also the UN delegate of Mercia The Next Generation.

Wishing you all a safe continuation of playing NationStates,

The day I spent in Mercia The Next Generation (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_region/region=mercia_the_next_generation) was very clarifying in obtaining the answers I was seeking. Blue Moon Lady's demise was apparently due to her utilizing a bug in Proboards forums allowing her to steal forum passwords. When these passwords are the same as a nation's password, she then gains access to those nations. She was deleted and IP-banned for hi-jacking other nations!

Oh shame, what a disgrace for both Blue Moon Lady as well as the region Blue Moon (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_region/region=blue_moon)! Such level of cheating is horrible, very unusual, and even had to be mentioned in a special News Message (http://www.nationstates.net/news/2004/03/04/index.html#bluemoon), as well as addressed on various stickies in multiple forums. What a coincidence for Flag Thief to have been there as the axe deservedly came down upon Blue Moon Lady, whom with this has shown to not be worthy of the name 'Lady' after all.

Time for something completely different.

Word has reached Flag Thief that a war is brewing between North Alerica (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_region/region=north_alerica) plus West Alerica (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_region/region=west_alerica), and the USSR (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_region/region=ussr). The latter, rumors persist, is getting help from both the NPO and the Atlantic Alliance. That would place the Alerica's in a bit of a pickle, having to deal with all that, and they in turn are calling on their alliances and friends to help them out as well. This just might turn out to become a very big war. Let's all pray for peace, people!

One of the regions which will be helping out the Alerica's is Imperial Germany (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_region/region=imperial_germany). They seem to have something against the communists within both the USSR and the NPO. Who would've thought. The UN Delegate of Imperial Germany, Kaiser Wilhelm II (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_nation/nation=kaiser_wilhelm_ii), has this flag that manages to both attract and scare me at the same time. So, for further study, I've stolen that flag and will be examining its esthetic qualities over the next day. For scientific purposes. Gott mit Uns!

On the War:
There is currently a debate going on on whether this should be a UN or RP conflict, the debate is currently leaning toward a UN conflict. The weird thing is that this seems to have popped up from nothing, North Alerica (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_region/region=north_alerica) wanted to be active again so they wanted a RP war, various issues intervened, and it's been spiraling out of control since then. I'm a USSR (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_region/region=ussr) Senator and I have little idea what is exactly going on!

There is a lot of history and old rivalries (http://ussrns.vefed.com/history.html) involved though, and tempers are flaring everywhere.

Good Afternoon Fellow Flag Afficionado's,

After listening to the war drums in Imperial Germany (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_region/region=imperial_germany) on Friday, it was once again time for me to take a break. So, yes, I ended up listening to Kate Bush CDs all weekend. Monday is here, and so is seemingly everybody else if the forum speed is any indication... After packing a case of Jolt Cola to brace for a busy week, your Flag Thief went in search of its next victim.

One thing I had decided quickly was that I should leave all these Earthly worries behind myself for a day and find some peace as Flag Thief. An island paradise I visited earlier turned out to be in turmoil, and Heaven itself was in chaos when I dropped by. Is there any place in the Universe left where I might find that? I decided to try my luck in the region Alpha Centauri (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_region/region=alpha_centauri). Several light years away from the warring factions on Earth. Should be a calm day, right?

Ofcourse, I wouldn't have stayed there if there hadn't been a suitable flag there for me to steal. I'm a flag thief after all! To be specific, the flag of Erid (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_nation/nation=erid), the Alpha Centauri UN Delegate caught my eye. For now, that flag is mine :D

I woke up this morning, and decided to take a walk in the yard of the imperial palace. I decided that was a good time to look at my flag. Imagine my suprise when I looked up at the flag pole and saw not my proud nation's manner, but a pair of my underwear. One of my laundry people said they noticed the flag was missing, and thought if they put my underwear up there, no one would notice.

I was a little upset about the disappearence of my flag, but then I looked at my underwear up there, flapping in the breeze, and decided that they make a pretty good flag as well. I'm considering making my underwear the new flag. If I decide that I like the old one better... um... can I have it back? Please?

Good morning!

Yesterday Flag Thief took up temporary residence in a quiet Alpha Centauri (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_region/region=alpha_centauri), a tranquil region of 24 souls amid the stars. This morning I wake up once again observing the horrors of war, international conflict, and bumping my little toe on the dresser in astonishment. Overnight the region had boomed to a whopping 59 inhabitants. Now, if these new arrivals had been trekkies who came to visit the anual Alpha Centauri Praise Spock convention, everything would've been alright. Or if they had been Flag Thief fans who came to observe the safe return of Erid (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_nation/nation=erid)'s flag everything would've been fine too. But no.

While I was happily enjoying the delegate's flag some cunning nations conspired to use any confusion caused by my presence to take over the delegacy in Alpha Centauri. Other nations were not fooled however and jumped in as well to prevent this from happening. A large battle ensued in which the assailants seem to have lost. At least Erid is still delegate, so whichever side won did not use the victory to overthrow the victim of my flag theft. Nations were already moving out as I was getting ready to leave.

What a development! At that time I knew I just had to have a drink. I journeyed away from the turmoil through several beer-related regions until the buzz in my head told me I better switch to something non-alcoholic. In The Realm of Ambrosia (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_region/region=the_realm_of_ambrosia) I discovered a nation called Cherry Cola (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_nation/nation=cherry_cola) with very nice citizens (4th in the whole wide world!) where I managed to purchase something refreshing to drink. Cherry Cola is an upstanding member of the ROA, and the administrator of its forum. The Founder of the ROA is the moderator Cogitation (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_nation/nation=cogitation), who flies a rather boring flag (red/white/blue, some stripes, stars... this surely has been done before elsewhere...) but who's stature might at least be able to prevent me from waking up in a warzone again tomorrow.

And so it was, that after quenching my thirst I stole the flag of Cherry Cola. Now all of you out there behave yourselves! No invading the Realm of Ambrosia tonight, you hear?

A Pleasant evening everybody!

My stay in The Realm of Ambrosia (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_region/region=the_realm_of_ambrosia) was non-eventful, just as I was hoping. No invasion of that region happened while I was there, which hopefully puts to rest any more rumors claiming that in some way Flag Thief is responsible for all the mayhem encountered. It's not my fault so many nations and regions are continuously on the brink of war!

After returning Cherry Cola (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_nation/nation=cherry_cola)'s flag, I quickly decided to prolong my stay in the calmer waters of NationStates. Not just a small island which can turn into a banana republic before you know it, but a huge empire! Of Islands, ofcourse. Ya gotta have them beaches ;)

Soon after, I arrived in the region 10000 Islands (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_region/region=10000_islands). Ok, there's not precisely 10,000 nations in it, but it's a pretty strong region anyway, protected by TITO. It's also a very big region with 597 nations. In case any of you were wondering... that's a LOT of flags to choose from! And to be entirely honest, Flag Thief did not look through all of them. I did not select the best flag of the region, because in picking which flag to steal things like general esteem and power of the nation in question also matter. A lot, actually. And so, I stole Parthini (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_nation/nation=parthini)'s flag. Parthini is the delegate of the region. Sometimes life as a Flag Thief can be easy. Now let's try to not get caught red-heanded while I hold this flag for a day.

Welcome back my friends,

Today brings a new travels report from your Flag Thief. The past few days have been non-eventful as by Thief code (yes, we have a code) I'm not allowed to steal a flag if I cannot report about it here. Ok, ok. I know what you're thinking. I'm not allowed to steal flags anyway. True, but we're talking about the Code for Thieves here, which doesn't function quite like our victims might expect. As promised, I did in time return the previously stolen flag to its owner, Parthini (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_nation/nation=parthini) in the region 10000 Islands (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_region/region=10000_islands). It has just taken me a while to steal my next flag.

Some time ago a new RP region was started, by the name of The New Europe (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_region/region=the_new_europe). It consists of a group of people who decided to break away from Europe (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_region/region=europe) after an unstoppable war ruined the fun. A bit of conflict so now and then for good measure is ok, but when all attempts at diplomacy stop and wars are being fought for no other reason than there having been a war the day before... well... it's just time to pack ones bags and move on to greener pastures.

Their new region seems to be working well so far. They have a website (http://theneweurope.blogspot.com/), a forum (http://neweuropeforum.cjb.net/), and a beautiful map (http://theneweuropestatistics.blogspot.com/), and the place is very active. Active enough to not notice it when I sneak my way in and steal the flag of The New Europe founder, Jemtland (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_nation/nation=jemtland). After all, I once stole the flag of the founder in Europe and so I'm taking this opportunity to showcase that I'm an equal opportunity thief. Ok, maybe I just really wanted to have that flag for myself. That's another possibility. Officially though, let's keep it at that equality thingy ;)

This Flag Theif had been wrecking havoc everywhere it went, and the good people had had enough. Well actually, the overwhelming majority of the people of NS really enjoyed it, but there were one or two who didn't and that was what mattered to my department.

But, wait, what would somebody do with a theif in their region except send it to The Rejected Realms (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/target=display_region/region=the_rejected_realms)? Oddly they'd do something else. :?

Well then, I scorured Earth, before finally ending up in Flag Theif's Lair (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/target=display_region/region=europe). A good day to all!

Starting a new region in NationStates is pretty easy. A few mouseclicks will take you to your own new domain. Ok, coming up with a good name may sometimes be a pain, but let's not sweat the details here. And then... there you are, in your own region, all alone. Making something out of a region is difficult. Hard work, actually! But the rewards, ones own community shaped after ones own vision, are great as well. There's so much to do to build up a region. Organization, building a forum, setting rules, recruiting... some people are great at recruiting yet fail in continued management of their region. Others are great organizers yet can't seem to get enough people together to make it all work they way they so beautifully envisioned. NationStates history is filled with stories of successes and failures... the latter outnumbering the first by quite a margin actually.

Today, Flag thief decided to visit a region which can, up until now at least, be regarded a success: The Young World (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_region/region=the_young_world). Recently tragedy has struck this region. The Founding nation, Corinthe, was deleted by the moderators which has subsequently burdened the region with a bit of a security problem. The region was built up to over 300 nations through aggressive recruiting. This hasn't exactly placed puppet-master Corinthe on everybody's list of most beloved. Add to that some previous history of conflict in Monte Carlo and The Pacific, amongst others, and I'm sure you can imagine that it is now expected that some may be looking towards the region as a desirable target for invasion.

Corinthe is quite a controversial player here in NationStates. She claims that the region The Young World was mostly built up by recruiting done by her twin sister. Or maybe that's her sister's claim, they're very difficult to tell apart. So difficult in fact, that the moderators may not be able to tell the difference between one or two players being in control of their large multitude of puppets. Which nation belongs to whom? Do they count as one or two players, or maybe there is only one player after all? It's hard to tell, especially for a Flag Thief. I'm just a simple character roaming NationStates in search of flags, and these matters are far above my head. Maybe we'll never know for sure.

Right now Most Enlightened Taria (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_nation/nation=most_enlightened_taria) is trying to obtain the delegacy of The Young World prior to organizing an orderly move to a new region. But she's not delegate just yet! Time will tell whether she'll make it or if her plans will be thwarted by some nation or group. As if she already hasn't got her work cut out for her, now someone has stolen her flag as well.

I wish you pleasure and excitement in all your gaming!

The risky situation in The Young World (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_region/region=the_young_world) turned volatile on Flag Thief after all. After the expected invasion by Corinthe's enemies failed to materialize and Most Enlightened Taria (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_nation/nation=most_enlightened_taria) became delegate with a 2 endorsement margin, many of the recent additions to the region were summarily ejected. This included your Flag Thief as well! Admittedly, I did steal Most Enlightened Taria's flag, which isn't exactly an 'I come in peace' way of entering a region. But in my defense, I had no intention at all to steal the delegacy! I've stolen the #1 position in a regional UN ranking before, but honestly that was not intentional either. Fortunately I managed to re-enter the region and return the stolen flag. All those ejected from the region were removed from the banlist. *phew* Stealing a flag can be exciting, but I really do want to return the flags to their rightfull owners. When I'm done enjoying the beauty of the flag, ofcourse.

Onwards my journey went, in search for the next victim. Uhm, make that 'the next compulsary cultural exchange participant'. Yeah, that sounds better, doesn't it? :) I'd hate to get in trouble with the Flag Police (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_nation/nation=flag_police), and cultural exchange sounds harmless enough I hope.

Travelling through a number of very small regions having something to do with the GLA (Global Liberation Army), I naturally ended up in CnC Universe (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_region/region=cnc_universe). Hopefully here I will find the battle I missed out on in The Young World. Hmmm. The region looks a bit quiet, actually. So, let's liven things up by stealing a flag. The flag of the founder, The Brotherhood of Nod (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_nation/nation=the_brotherhood_of_nod)!

Hi friends,

As you may have noticed, I've gone on vacation for a while. Stealing flags is fun, but I was continuously getting in trouble one way or another. Some even thought I was somehow the cause of trouble! So I decided it was time for a short break and went for some R&R. Aspen is beautiful this time of year.

On my way home, I stopped by in New York (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_region/region=new_york), which is where I still am now. Aahhh. The glitter and glamour of Broadway, the lights, the pulsating rythms of the NY nightlife, and... ok... the sidewalks are soaked in urine and at any time a criminal might smash your brains to get some change. Life in the big city, ya know?

As usual, I've stolen another flag. The flag belongs to Gell-Mannhattan (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_nation/nation=gell-mannhattan), the founder of the region New York. And no, I didn't resort to violence in stealing the flag. New York hasn't influenced me that much. Aftar all I'm a civilized Gentleman Thief, not a streetfighter.

Salutations mates!

Flag Thief is still traveling home after vacationing. New York (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_region/region=new_york) was cool enough, and we journeyed further homewards. A short pitstop in Ireland (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_region/region=ireland) got extended as some harsh words flying by caught my attention.

ADN (http://s3.invisionfree.com/ADN/) member Ireland seems to have invaded or liberated Northern Ireland (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_region/region=northern_ireland). What to call what happened depends on which side of the argument you listen to. Now the ADN Office of the Prosecutor General has started a court case against Ireland.

While people in Ireland are wondering what the exact charges are, their representative Prodigal Fenian (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_nation/nation=prodigal_fenian) has been arguing that the ADN charges are a witch hunt, ridiculous, and trumped up, has begun arguing against them, has moved nontheless for a summary verdict, has threatened to join the opposition to the ADN, and has denied both the authority of the ADN courts as well as the new ADN constitution. It's a bit of a cluster bomb approach to judicial maneuvering :D

Right now, Prodigal Fenian is the delegate of Northern Ireland. Native? Invader? Liberator? I don't know. Is Ireland now free, or is it being oppressed? Another major question. I took the opportunity to move in and steal Prodigal Fenian's flag. Let's see how Northern Ireland's new ruler responds to having his sense of humor tested ;)

So... how do I give the flag back tomorrow?

Flag Thief slowly gains consciousness as a soft drizzle hits his face. Opening his eyes and turning onto his left side to get up he feels pain in his muscles. Several questions race through his head at once: "Where am I? How did I get here? What happened to me?" Looking down, he notices he's been lying on mud-covered rocks. His suit is a mess. Looking around, there's a small river slowly flowing by. The tall bushes on the other side gently wave in a soft breeze. To the left, there's a big white van.

Just getting up hurts. Flag Thief does not remember entering these surroundings and wouldn't know how to return to more known territory. "Where was I before?" Ah, yes. After a trip to Northern Ireland (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_region/region=northern_ireland), he recalls stopping by Shadowland (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_region/region=shadowland). There was some sort of dispute between these two regions. After some initial confusion, Prodigal Fenian (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_nation/nation=prodigal_fenian) allowed Flag Thief to stay in the region. Dropping by the other side of the conflict though didn't seem to have gone so well. First of all there wasn't a good flag to steal, which is always a bummer, but after some time Flag Thief was rudely kicked out. Flag Thief vaguely remembers some wandering around, but has no recollection of where exactly that was... darkness... voices... sand... And now Flag Thief has awoken at a Van Down by the River (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_region/region=a_van_down_by_the_river).

Fortunately, I learn more about my surroundings within the van (http://nationstatevan.tripod.com). I have arrived in a high-spirited small community, based on maintaining good humor despite a poor standard of living. The place was created by Aerospace Engineers (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_nation/nation=aerospace_engineers), and is ruled over by Jonathalia (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_nation/nation=jonathalia) as their UN delegate. I quickly stole the flag of the latter, and will now proceed to see if I can discover the spirit of Matt Foley.

It took Flag Thief some time to travel from a Van Down by the River (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_region/region=a_van_down_by_the_river) to a more densily populated area. Somewhere along the way I got kicked into the Rejected Realms again. It's not worth mentioning who and where, just noting that I seem to have acquired a certain notoriety in this line of work. Stealing flags is becoming more difficult each time.

For today Flag Thief is continuing its journey homeward bound. Our next stop is England (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_region/region=england) to have a refreshing cup of hot tea. Hold the milk please. Actually, from the talk on the Civil Headquarters it looks like they might be into wine these days, but can't decide between French and Australian wine. Flag Thief's view is that they might compete in volume share, but it's a different story at the high end of the market. But we'll patiently await to see what the region will decide.

While the talk about wine proceeded, I stole the flag of the UN Delegate: His Majesty (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_nation/nation=his_majesty). With a name like that one would expect a very royal flag. And it sorta is, for a cartoonish variety of royal. But I like it nontheless, which is why for the next 24 hours that flag is mine

* FLAG THIEF 2 ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT *

Today I stole my 30th flag. It's been a great run. I've been welcomed with an abundance of hospitality, shot at, lured into regions, ejected from them, and allowed back in. It has been a very entertaining time for me, in which I've been able to highlight some regions, nations, and events which mark my own view of this wonderful game granted us by Max Barry, as well as a few of the more lesser known spots in the game which I feel were due a respectful nod in recognition of their own contribution to the game even though many are not directly influenced by them.

It has been a great time, and it is about time I pass the baton to the next Flag Thief. So, on Friday this Flag Thief will steal its last flag and make its secret identity public. Until then, all non-mods are free to make (educated!) guesses if they wish.

Signed,

Greetings all,

Departing from England (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_region/region=england), I took a trainride through the Chunnel (http://www.eurotunnel.com/) to France (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_region/region=france). That region turned out to be rather quiet though. Perhaps the French are still hiding out somewhere in United States (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_region/region=united_states)?

My journey took me northward, into Belgium (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_region/region=belgium). The nations here seem to be going for beer instead of wine. Lots of it, actually. This region has been building up a good name for itself through inter-regional activities, after initially focussing primarily on domestic affairs. They want to treat every country with dignity, and thus have no bearing on aggressive and militaristic states. Whether or not this means Belgium is aggressive towards the aggressive is a question we'll leave for the philosophers among you. We are more interested in the beer. ;) Now if only non Flemish speakers could decipher the stuff written on their Civil Headquarters. FreeTranslation.com (http://www.freetranslation.com/) provides a little help.

Time to steal a flag! The flag of the Belgium UN delegate, Gisje (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_nation/nation=gisje), has a certain sweetness to it. Maybe the flower just reminds Flag Thief of home. Getting closer each day...

Greetings all,

Having arrived back home in Nederland (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_region/region=nederland), my journeys as Flag Thief have come to an end.

It has been fun, and many unexpected things have happened. Regions where I was expecting to be greeted with recognition of the good humor in which this endeavour is intended responded with hostility, while some of the regions where I braced myself for such aggression welcomed me with open arms and a warm smile. As light-hearted as this has been, I did learn new things about the nations I play this game with, as well as the people behind them.

Now the time as come to pass the baton to the next Flag Thief. May your journey be even more entertaining and educating to yourself.

As my last act, I retreated to Flag Thiefs Lair (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_region/region=flag_thiefs_lair) to meet up with the original Flag Thief (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_nation/nation=flag_thief).

A new Flag Theif has arisen, ready to entertain those impatiently waiting for the next victim.

Ballotonia (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_nation/nation=ballotonia) did an excellent job stealing flags, but I'm not so sure his own flag is neat enough to merit judging the flags of others - it seems to be a rather simple design of colors. It's the flag of the Netherland Antilles (it's a standard one!), but a tad bigger and with a minor adaptation of the colors.

Still, our President is looking quite sadly at the empty flag pole in front of our Capitol building, and has addressed this issue in a special news conference. The President has informed all citizens that a promise was made that our flag is to be returned in a day. Therefore, for now the government is regarding this theft to be an innocent prank and is awaiting the safe return of our official nation flag. No comments were made by the President as to what the Governments next step would be if the flag were not to be returned.

Speculation in the media has gone berserk on the question of who could be behind this action. Several moderators were mentioned as a possibility, as well as various dignitaries in the NationStates universe, and even Beekers, Marathon, Prodigal Fenian, and America Inc's names were mentioned by the more seedier news outlets.

Visitors at the Capitol building were reported to be laughing their asses off and some said they'd give the "prankster thief" a case of Dutch beers when he or she returns the flag tomorrow.

The flag of Ballotonia, while loosing a few points for originality, looked very colorful and cheerful flying above our nation's capital. We give it a 7 out of 10.

Next, onto the region of Midgard (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_region/region=midgard), where the nation of Crazy Girl (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_nation/nation=crazy_girl) lurks, the nation who started this all.

We can't believe her flag hasn't been stolen yet, it seems that she was just asking for it all along - and it's a wonderfully cute flag.

We arrived in Midgard (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_region/region=midgard) amidst a party, the natives celebrating the region's freedom from its "crasher founder and its puppets." They were more than happy to welcome a guest, however, even if the more savvy amoung them knew their guest was nothing more than a thief.

The thief has returned the stolen good today, however, with a smile and a nod for the victim. Having flown the flag above our nation for a day, we've decided the flag is too cute and our citizens almost wouldn't let us give it back. The flag gets an 8.5 out of 10.

We would also like to assure our readers that not only are we not violating a site IP-ban, we are not violating a forum ban. We have a certain fondness for Corinthe, but nevertheless are not her. ;)

After partying all day, we were reluctant to settle down into a more calm region, and so we followed a trail into the famous vacation region of Hawaii (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_region/region=hawaii), to steal the flag of the delegate there... which only reminded us that we have been so busy stealing flags, we haven't eaten in almost a day. Next we'll look for a more fruitful region!

Police, imposters, hostile founders... the life of a flag thief just isn't easy!

Today, giving into our stomach, we returned to flag of KODT (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_nation/nation=kodt) and left Hawaii in it's blissful (but slightly drunken) peace. The flag was clever and well-designed, but it certainly did nothing for our appetite: a 5.5 out of 10.

We eventually happened upon the wonderful region of Cheese (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_region/region=cheese), where the Factbook promises all manner of good cheese to everyone. Here's hoping it applies to us as well, even though we stole the flag of their delegate, Big Cheesia (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_nation/nation=big_cheesia).

Finally able to access the forums, without which we could not share the story of our great exploits, we returned Big Cheesia (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_nation/nation=big_cheesia)'s flag to continue on our way. It was an attractive little flag, but unfortunately some of our more eager citizens found to their cost that the material was inedible - the verdict is a 7.

Winding our way through the jungle of regions that is NationStates, we stumbled upon the fun region of Monkey Island (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_region/region=monkey_island). The gorgeous flag of one of the healthiest nations in the region caught our eye, and we knew we had to have it. For a day (or longer if the forum's performance fails to improve), Mousebumples (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_nation/nation=mousebumples) is flag-less.

Having grown extremely fond of the flag during its short stay in the nation, we had a very hard time giving it back. However, the code of the thief won out in the end, and returned the flag to its rightful owner. It gets a 10 of 10.

Looking back at the regions we have recently visited, it's evident that trouble really does follow in the path of Flag Thief - the happy little region of Cheese (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_region/region=cheese) has been invaded and locked down. We can only hope the apathetic natives don't mind too much.

Thanking the natives of Monkey Island (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_region/region=monkey_island) for their hospitality and welcome, we continued on our way through the jungle of NS. Eventually we landed in Atlantian Oceania (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_region/region=atlantian_oceania), where the flag of the founder caught our eye. We hope Vilita (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_nation/nation=vilita) will welcome us as nicely as the last victim.

Beware, Tactical Grace, lest we should decide to make another visit to your region! And it's sure, that though Talkos's flag may be boring, there must be a flag in his region worthy of being stolen.

Myrth has already had a flag of his designing stolen, we won't inflate his head even more and target his designs a second time.

Extending our deepest gratitude to Vilita for the warm reception in thier region, we have returned the flag (7 of 10) and now are seeking more plunder. Our eye fell upon a small nation (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_nation/nation=pizzini3000) in a small region (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_region/region=particle_of_matter), and we have relocated there in order to add another neat flag to our list.

We extend our deepest and most humble apologies for the long delay. Blame the forums server, any time we could manage get on wasn't long enough to conduct a raid on a new flag.

Returning the last flag to Vintario with apologies over having kept it so long, we're giving it an 8 out of 10 and moving on to the next victim.

This time, we opted to steal the flag of a recruiter who sent us a regional ad telespam. We hope SIR PERCY (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_nation/nation=sir_percy) can appreciate having the tables turned on him... he's gained a nation for his region Allied Forces Of ARC (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_region/region=allied_forces_of_arc), but his flag is gone!

This week contains very little time for us to steal flags, but we shall do our best to relate some of our exploits to you all :)

Having marked out the victim of Flivver (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_nation/nation=flivver), we learned to our dismay that he resided in a password protected region. We shall try to acquire the password, but in the meantime, we needed a new victim. Landing in The North Pacific (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_region/region=the_north_pacific), we realized that the delegacy had changed since our latest ventures there. The new delegate (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_nation/nation=magicality) was flying a quite attractive one, so we couldn't help but steal it.

Flag Thief has been extremely busy stealing all manner of things, but we finally return to tell you of our latest exploits in the flag-related world.

Moving on from the North Pacific - thank you to the delegate there for her kind hospitality - a newly created region caught our eye. Tecksaz (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_nation/nation=tecksaz) hasn't been around long and perhaps does not deserve to have their flag stolen, but nevertheless we have snatched it. Not a particularly great flag, but the reason we were drawn to the region is hidden in its Factbook (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_region/region=south_by_southwest).

I hope nobody minds the week long hiati too terribly much - it will probably prove to be a rather regular thing.

However, Tecksaz has finally gotten their flag back, and we leave their region now to its relative peace. Thank you for your hospitality during our extended stay :)

As we rather like the American Southwest, we've decided to do a bit of a tour of the place. Our next stop, therefore, is Texas (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_region/region=texas), whose delegate has already been a victim. Accordingly, we had to cast around for something else - and found the flag of an innocent ambassador in the region.

Ahem. Moving right along, we've returned the really very cute flag back to the ambassador and cast around for a new victim. Only too thrilled to continue our tour of the American Southwest area, we happened upon the neighboring region to Texas: New Mexico (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_region/region=new_mexico). Apparently a very pretty area, the flag of the delegate there, Mirk (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_nation/nation=mirk), sealed our decision. Not this Flag Thief, unfortuntely. We have, as is evident, fallen a bit behind on the stealing of flags. Along with the fact that the person who is behind Flag Thief is on vacation in RL, we have decided to pass the noble tradition of Flag Thieving onto the next eager batch of thieves.

It's only fair to go out with one last flag, so we have decided to steal a meaningful one. We headed over to The Pacific (http://nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/target=display_region/region=the_pacific), where a not-so-innocent nation waits.

We are, or have been, a puppet of none other than Unfree People (http://nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/target=display_nation/nation=unfree_people), who is just dying to have her flag stolen.

Today's victim of Flag Thief is the delegate of the North Pacific, Thel DRan (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_nation/nation=thel_dran).

I think most, if not all, know what happenend in the North Pacific 2 weeks ago, so I won't start about all that again.

Compliments to Thel for quite a nice flag!

For the record, I consider this a true honor. There are too many people to thank so only Flag Thief 2 gets mentioned by name. :)

A new day, a new victim of the Flag Thief!

We visit the region Lazarus, a mysterious region where nations arise from the dead!

Carefully sneaking around these zombie nations, I've decided to be bold, and steal their delegate's flag.

Today's victim is New Omnivaro (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_nation/nation=new_omnivaro)

Sorry for the delay, my loyal fans, today, I have stolen a new flag!

This victim is the new delegate of the Pacific, after a hard struggle and some ejecting by the previous delegate, he gained the delegacy of the game's first feeder region.

My victim of today is: Unlimited (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_nation/nation=unlimited)

His flag looks a bit spooky:

We also wish the players behind Francos Spain and Poskrebyshev good luck in their real lives. They made both friends and enemies in this game, but one thing you can't deny, they caused quite a whirlwind throughout NationStates and it is a shame to see two of the most famous players leave the game.

Hey, I have an I-Mac, and I was wondering how to create my own custom flag. I've never done anything like this before and I need just a little help, (actually a lot of help). So anyone with mac knowledge, please give instruction.

I take it you don't have Photoshop or similar?

Not to worry, there's plenty of free software for Mac users. I recommend Picture Play; it lets you put together images (with transparency if you need that), backgrounds and text and scale it all to the right size: 107 x 71 pixels for an NS flag. (I have Photoshop but I still use PP quite often because it's nice and easy.)

Download and use for 30 days free here: http://www.crescendosw.com/pictureplay.html

Alternatively you could use Appleworks and combine drawing, painting and text.

If you're looking for an image to use, Google images should produce something.

I'll pass on that option, I don't want someone else's name on my flag, plus he seems to lean towards animae and I don't care for that art style

He makes flags to request, just tell him what you want.

Sorry, I guess my question wasn't detailed enough, I know how to create a flag, that's easy. It's the transfer from appleworks or desktop to the actual web site. I'm not on the computer long enough to try to even figure out the process. Loop, if you read this, please tell me how to accomplish this. Or the first person who knows how and can explain it easily can do so.

That's easy: save it as a GIF or JPEG, keeping it under 6kb (I think). Open your 'settings'; under the pic of your current flag is 'create your own flag' - open that up and you can upload your creation from your computer.
Crazy girl

think it's time to ask for archiving, flag thief's time is up ;)

she's been caught, handcuffed and locked away.
edit: and then the thread for requests is locked...
