IC:

"Sir, what is the status of the weapon?" a man in a black leather trench coat asked another man in a white lab coat.

"The beam seems consistant. It appears to be working..."

The noted weapon was of an experimental kind. The beam, composed of pure magnetic energy, was the next step in particle weapons. However, what happened with the beam is what truely mattered.

The extreme magnetic force emitted by the enormous cannon had an unforseen effect on the ground. Overpowered, the ground gave way as the city sunk hundreds of feet below the surface. In ruins, the city is where our story begins. Soon...the other side effects of the magnetic beam would become apparent.

~Eighteen Hours After the Accident~

Chris awoke in a cold sweat. He felt his breathing turn into rapid, short bursts of air as his heart rate increased. Pushing his hair out of his face, he looked around.

Confused by the massive amounts of wreckage surrounding him, he reached for his rifle, only to remind himself that he was in civilian clothes, only with a pistol and his trusty army knife.

Chris Mitchell moved to the city mere months ago to be part of a special SWAT team within the city. He got into law school but screwed around and eventually flunked out. From there, he joined the Orion Military Academy, and graduated with a degree in Special Forces. However, instead of joining the Steel-Orion government, he was sent away with another man and a woman to the city to investigate "suspicious happenings".

"Guess this confirms their suspicions," he thought to himself, slowly coming to his feet. "Where the hell are those two," he asked out loud to no one in particular, referring to Adrian and Sarah, the two other SWAT members in his squad.

No bodies were around, and Chris found that quite odd. However, he couldn't remember a thing, and he hoped that he or another SWAT member had gotten the people out in time. "What the hell happened here?"

...and then he saw her. Sarah was leaning over Adrian, who was a bloody mess. Somewhat disgusted, but more sad than anything, Chris walked over towards his two team mates.

Sarah looked up, but Chris focused on the mangled body of Adrian instead, skin torn, flesh chunked out...

"Sarah...what happened to him?" Chris asked, still not looking at her. When no answer came, he repeated himself and then looked up, only to see a gorey Sarah steadily approaching him.

"Sarah!" he yelled at her, still not understanding what was going on. "Sarah, you're hurt! Don't move...I'll find a way out of here..."

He turned and attempted to walk in the opposite direction but instead was mauled by legions of the undead...the people who used to work in this building...

"What the fuck?" he thought outloud as the one nearest him broke off the bottom half of its leg when it tripped. Chris grabbed his gun, but stared at the fiend in horror. The thing was still crawling towards him, mouth open, bloody teeth exposed.

Chris could feel the teeth sink into his left shoulder as he snapped back to his senses and spun around. Sarah had bit him!

"You...BITCH!" He screamed, popping off three rounds into her face, dropping her to the floor. Chris turned back towards the hordes of zombies and checked his ammo clip. He still had tons of shells left...although now didn't seem like the time to waste.

The zombie that was crawling on the ground grabbed his boot and moaned. Taking out his knife, Chris stabbed the bastard creature in the skull, spraying blood all over his pants. Pulling the knife out of the now-still horror, he looked up to see the others readily approaching.

[OOC: Finally!]

Paul Christianson was working on his construction project. A former wrestler, he had recently left and persued a construction carrer. Due to unemployment in Nanakaland, he had moved to this city as a chance to get a well-paid job. When the "earthquake" hit, he fell down from the top of the building and hit the ground hard. Paul was knocked out.

When he finally regained conciousness, he noticed something strange. The city was under the ground and there were people heavily wounded, but still walking. He finally realized that all of the people up and about were walking towards him, zombie-like. Many of those zombies were his fellow construction workers.

As he walked backwards away from the zombies, he almost tripped over a rifle. 'That's it," he thought. "A rifle!". Paul raised the rifle. "Don't come any closer or I'll shoot!" he warned them. They ignored his words and kept aproaching. "That's it!" he shouts. "I'll shoot!"

They still aproached him even after his second warning. Paul shot the rifle and blew one of their arms off. The crowd kept aproaching. He shot again, this time at one of their heads. This time, that one collapsed. "That's better," Paul commented to himself. The crowd started eating their fallen comrade. "That's not better!" he shouted as he turned around and ran for his life....

Chris jumped onto the wall of rubble and began to hastily climb up the broken I-beams and bent steel walls. Left hand...right hand...left hand...right...

The pole under his right hand gave way, forcing him to hold on with just his left. The pole knocked his gun downwards, where it landed on some steel, about ten feet below him. Not able to survive without it, Chris jumped down after the weapon...

http://www.capcom.com/ResidentEvil/images/featureImage3.gif

...only to be greated by three flesh-hungry zombies in wait. He dropped down on one of them, landing on top of it and using it to break his fall. The fiend opened it's mouth wide, letting off a sure scent of death, and tried to bite Chris's neck, mere inches away. Chris reached for his knife and stuck it up through the zombie's chin an into it's brain, finishing it off.

Quickly getting up, Chris reached for his weapon but could not quite get it. He spun around and punched a zombie in the face, knocking some flesh of the thing's cheek. He jumped and kicked it backwards into the other one, knocking the third one down off the wall of rubble.

He reached for his gun once more but he couldn't quite get it. Sensing the zombie close behind him, he reached back and snapped its neck, pulling the rotting head clean off. He let out a cry of disgust and threw the head towards the ground as other zombies reached for it, crying out in hunger.

Grabbing a pole, he knocked his gun towards him, picked it up, secured it, and continued his ascention upwards.

[OOC: Your actions are making it hard for me to top in my RP posts.]

Paul kept running, not looking back at the grotesque persuing figures. He kept running for several blocks until he ran into a dead end. The road was blocked by debris from toppled skyscrapers. "Oh great," Paul commented to himself.

As he turned around, he saw the zombie horde closing in on him. He drew his rifle and pointed it at the zombies. Paul started shooting at their heads and the zombies collapsed. The hoarde started eating their fallen, but most still closed in on Paul. He kept shooting the zombies until he ran out of ammo. The situation was getting worse....

[OOC: W00t, and good name pick]

Bobby, called Spectre by his friends for that was his nick on many of the battle simulation games they played. Was just going along with his two buds, John Mildox and Kirby Boxty on his bike, in the downtown area, after his sword-play lessons his parents reluctently let him take.

His sword, a well-crafted katana, lay in his duffle bag which was slung across his sholder. They were just idly chatting when suddenly the ground fellout beneath their feet.

As the world around him faded to black

His eyes slowly fluttered open, finding himself staring into the dust choked sky he began to sit up and check for wounds.

A bruise here, a few scratches here and there, nothing broke, wow, *wince* ok big bump on head

Clamoring to his feet he looks around. His duffle bag lay right next to him, but that was not what caught his eye, the normally predominent skyline was mostly gone, however now an indomible wall of earth stood in the distance, rising many feet into the air. What the f*ck. Looking around for his friends he finds Kirby's twisted bike under the fallen remains of a building, but no Kirby. Scanning the crumpled street he sees Kirby, leaning over an unconsious John. Calling out to them, "Hey John, Kirby, you guys allright?"

No response so he shouted louder, "Dudes, whats up?"

Kirby slowly stood, giving him a clear view of John, or what was left. An empty stomach and chest caviety lay before Kirby's feet. He slowly turned around, revealing his own crushed chest, crumpled right arm, and obviosly broken left leg. Kirby slow limped towards Bobby.

"What the hell!" Bobby shouted at his dead friend. Grabing his bag he unzipped it and pulled out his katana. Leveling it at his friend he orders, "Stop!"

It does not stop, it comes closer and closer, until Bobby was forced to act. Bringing his blade in a left curving downward arch, cleaving both the head and right arm clean off leaving the rest of the body to slump to the ground.

Breathing heavily from fear Bobby slow backs away from the severed head. Turns around, and runs for the nearest mostly intact building with tears of sorrow for his friends running down his face.

Elianne stood from the ground. She had been crying for almost an hour at the front of the destroyed building that once was a deluxe hotel. As she stood, she just cried over the overwhelming silence of the street. "Is somebody there?", she asked, her childish voice rising over the quiet street.

The only answer was the sound of something crawling towards her, three zombies, terribly mutilated, carrying an awful stench around them. She screamed and tried to run, however her wounded leg hampered her, almost falling to the floor.
13-12-2003, 05:03
Just as Paul was about to give up, he heard a scream. As the zombie hoarde closed in, he knocked off some of their fragile heads with the butt of his rifle. Seeing only one way out of this, he started scaling the pile of rubble. Several zombies started grabbing at him.

"Eat this!" Paul shouted as he dropped a piece of rubble on the zombies. He scaled over the debris (for about five minutes) and (then) dropped on the other side. "Ouch!" he screamed in pain as he landed. The zombies were safe on the other side of a twenty foot high pile of debris. Now that that was solved, he started looking for two things: rifle ammo and the source of the scream....

Making his way out of the garage, Chris searched the lobby with his gun ever-ready.

He reached the front desk, and rolled a pen through his fingers. The computers were smashed as well as the desk itself. The teller was dead...but that didn't stop him from moving around...

Chris looked up from the phone he was trying to use and saw the once neatly-dressed man slowing approaching him. Raising his gun, he shot the zombie in the chest. The bullet stalled the man for a second, and then he resumed his course for the "food behind the desk."

Confused, Chris fired two more times, each with the same result.

He darted his eyes around the room. Broken stairs...bloody floors...open door...zombie...

Open Door...

The zombie reached the desk, only to have his head smashed in by a computer, dropping him to the floor. He ran out the front door, but was stopped dead in his tracks by the sight of three zombies and a seeminly teenage girl.

Slamming the cracked wooden door behind him hearing the rusted lock close as the pins gave way to the collapsed wood. Bobby finds himself in an apartment complext with a long curving staircase winding its way up the three stories. Taking the first flight up and finding the door to apartment 01 unlocked he lets himself inside.

Closing the door he looks around, Empty, he thought. Walking towards the kitchen he finds the sink slowly dripping water.

Drip... drip... drip...

Mezmerized by this, the only sound in the dead home he is startled by a long low moan from right behind him. Before he could bring his sword to bear the zombie knocks it away and begins to grapple. Struggling vainly against the unrelenting undead force he finds himself in a panic, groping the counter for some means of defense.

Salvation is found in the form of a wooden shard, broken off from the dust grey cabinetry above. Slamming it into this creatures head it is knock sideways, staggered by the blow.

Dropping to the floor Bobby brings his legs around in a long arc in hopes to trip the zombie. Fate smiles on him and the undead fiend is sent to the floor struggling to right it self with its decaying limbs and mind. Scrambling along the ground he reaches his katana.

Both standing at the same time Bobby once again faces the horror.

Swinging in a broad horizontal cut the spine is severed, barely, the blade caught in the meat, and the creature falls to the ground taking the sword out of Bobby's hands. Acting fast he brings the heel of his boot smashing unto its head, over and over and over...

Untill finally it stops it struggle and lies still, slightly congealed fluids dripping from its corpse.

Looking around he finds a phone.

Dead, just like everything else, damnit

Turning the sink to full he slowly washes his face and hands of the gory mess left by his fallen comrade and unknown foe.

This is a great way to start one long day he sighs to himself.

Devon woke to the sound of silence. That was unusual for this part of town... sighing she slipped on her leather jacket that was beside her bed. She turned from the bed to find nothing where she had left it. In the complete darkness that was her life she tried to feel for her staff. Her fingers found soft fur it's texture smooth beneathe her fingers she sighed exasperatedly as she reached for the dogs harness. "Damnit Landa, where the hell were you?" however as her fingers moved to where the harness should be she found nothing, no shoulders nothing. Uncertain what she'd just done she pushed her hand further towards the dog, just certain he'd moved. The scent hit her before she felt the searing heat of fresh blood. It's hot metallic scent sickened her and she gagged struggling against the tears that threatened to overwhelm her. She reached over by the door to find the door missing and in it's place the cold hard rock that now surrounded what used to be her lovely home. She stood and moved carefully through the rubble just sure that if she had survived so had he. Finally she found him, her love, he one and only. He wrapped his arms around her and moved towards her neck. She tilted her head away used to the sound of his soft voice in her ear in the morning. The stench of death was all that saved her, panicing she reached for the staff that was indeed where she thought it must be and yanked it from his hand, then with a quick spin of it she knocked him back. The sound of crunching bone and soft squishing met the blind womans sensitive ears...had she been able to see she would have seen the zombie that was her only love with a support beam through his head. She screamed when she found herself surrounded by stone, trapped and terrified she screamed from the hole that was her prison.

ic:

As the world came into focus she winched in pain, when the earthquake hit she had taken quit a fall. With her left hand she reached over to her right shoulder to make sure that it wasn’t dislocated. To her relief it was still in the socket, but badly bruised.

Looking around the world the she seen was much different then the one she had seen earlier. The store the she had been in was a huge mess. Items that where once stored neat and tidy on the shelves, were now scattered through out the room. Rising to her feet she looked through the debris for her glasses, and to her relief found them unharmed. Dusting herself off she casually walked over to the door.

The site that stood there before her caused her to stop in awe. This could be she thought to herself. There weren’t many building left standing; rubble was laying in the streets, if you could now call them street. Debris was everywhere, small fires could been seen from erupted gas lines. This was more no ordinary earthquake she though, the scene she saw reminded her of photo she had seen for Europe after World war two. Another thing drew her attention.

It was so dark, looking up at the sky Emily lost her breath, they where now under ground. Realizing the severity of the situation she collapsed to the ground fighting the need to vomit. Taking long deep breaths she took a moment to collect her thoughts.

Her name was Emily Williams. At 22 years of age she had just graduated with a degree in molecular biology from the University to Tappee, not an easy feat by any means. While head out to the field she had stopped her for a connecting flight, and had decided to get some sight seeing in before heading out. When the quake hit she had was in a small shop looking for gifts for her friends.

After some time she pulled herself together, she had medical training, so she knew that she’d be needed. Getting up to her feet she began looking for survivors.

For the longest time she wondered the streets, alone only to her thought. Out of the corner her eye, some where in the shadows she could see movements.

“Hello” she yelled out “It ok I’m here to help” She made her way over not sure what to expect. Almost there she stopped when she heard a gurgling sound.

In pure fear she took a step back when the person stepped out from behind the shadows, if you could call it a person. It looked to be female, but Emily had trouble determinig the gender. One of it’s eye swung side to side, held in place by the nerve chord. It’s flesh looked as if it was rotting on the bone. Emily was forced to cover her nose to stop the smell.

“Oh my god.” She said under breath. No sooner were the words out her mouth than the creature was on her. She was caught off guard by the attack.

Reaching it arms around her, Emily fought to keep the foe at bay. Trip on some rock the two fell to the ground. Rolling around on the ground the creature continued tried to bit her. During the struggle she could saw a piece of wood just sitting there. With one arm she held the creature back, and with the other reached out for the wood. It was just out her reach, the creatures face continued to get closer and closer as she could no longer keep it back. You could see the look of fear on her face she things where closing in on her. Using her finger she pulled the wood in to her grasp.

“Ahhh” she yelled out she with her free hand she drove the piece of wood into the creatures temple. The force of the impact knocked it off her. Rolling to her side she jumped to her feet. Panting she tried to get her breath. Noises in front of her drew her attention. Looking up she could see a group moving through the shadows toward her.

Light from a nearby fire brought them into view, they were all just like the one who attacked her. Without hesitation she turned and ran, ran for her life.

[OOC: Hmm.. I got the fights, maybe more graphic]

After finishing washing up and guzzling quite a bit of the water Bobby prepare to exit the complex through the back door of the kitchen. Walking slowly and carefully to avoid slipping on the still oozing entrails he opens the door.

Hearing a faint scream in the distance he thinks, another survivor? and sprints northwards towards the sound. Finding a small residentail district, devode of life, undead or otherwise, small one story homes. Hearing the scream again he strides towards the source, past the crashed car, leaking oil and gas, as the cracked fire hydrant spurts water down its crumpled hood, still washing the blood and gore from its rosy peach surface.

Reaching the home he peers in a window, caked with dirt he makes out a form sitting and rocking back and forth in the center near an inanimate corpse. Shattering the glass he calls out, "Are you all right?"

Finding a woman, to caked in stone dust to tell age, clutching a staff, he asks again, "Are you hurt? Can I help? My name is Bobby, Bobby Kolstin."

Justin's vision swam before him as he re-entered the world of conciousness. He lay sprawled out on a pile of steel and plaster dust. As he regained his thoughts, one thing occured to him.

'It worked. It worked it worked it worked!' He thought with an elated joy.

Then he noticed the sheer walls of rock and hard clay all around him. Only directly above him was the only light. It cast a dim eerie glow over the whole town.

'What? Underground...no, the magnetic fields, no, no, no, this should never have happened? The man in the black trenchcoat, he wanted an eye witness to this device, and that was me! He wanted me gone, he knew this would happen? But why? Why me...?' He thought frantically, his mind speculating all kinds of explanations. 'But then that means...'

As if it were an answer, a moan echoed off the ruined walls. It was close, too close. Justin's head snapped to his left, and there he saw what he most abhorred. A pale, shambling figure, it's mouth dripping blood, the pupils totally white moved slowly towards him, it's rotten feet scrapping against the ground. As it came closer, the pungent smell of death washed over the young computer technician, freezing him in fear to the ground. As the zombie lunged at him, yellowed lips dripping with delight at attaining a meal, Justin let out a yell of fear and sprung into action, jumping out of the way of the zombie. It turned to face him with agonizing slowness, but this time Justin was ready. He landed a punch straight in the corpse's face, and it reeled back, it's face shattered. Justin burst away from the zombie while it was stunned, shaking his hand in pain. He never was much of a brawler. He didn't know where he was running, but he was going to get away from these abberations either way. A scream pierced the air, and Justin turned towards it automatically, hoping for a survivor to talk to. He knew what had happened here, he designed the weapon, and now he had to stop it. Trying his best to keep a calm voice, "Your almost there, your gonna have to go through the window, the front door is blocked by the overhang."

Knocking away the remaining glass he draps his pleather jacket over the remaining shards, We both got lucky, had this been a weekend there would have been a hell of a lot more people around here, but they all must be in the buisness district or where ever adults go for work.

Helping her out he asks, "As I said, my name is Bobby whats your name?" Before she responded he said, "Sratch that, I'd prefer if you call me Spectre. And as to well it all smells of death, well..."

Looking over the post-apocolyptic wasteland of a neighborhood and back at the blood soaked woman, he thinks it best not to tell her She has got enought to worry about without me telling her the world has gone to hell in a hand basket and I don't know how to get back

First Sargent Jaégai, known to his friends as just Jay, lept out the dropship right after the Colonel, holding a CR-305 in his hands and his lucky wakizashi strapped to his hip, a gift from his homeland of Cyberutopia. As soon as he hit the ground, the overpowering stench of death washed over him and the others, and he took an involuntary step backwards. Looking around at the desolation before them, he patted his wakizashi absentmindedly. He'd need all the luck he could get.

As the moved away from the shuffling hoard her small hand held by Spectre's Devon felt the pull again. She focused on it and finally narrowed it down, pulling away she walked back towards the direction of the hoard and stopped in the middle of the street. Stooping she picked up the small stone that lay there and slipped it into her pouch. She looked up in the direction of the shambling hoard a slight smile curving her lips as the scent of death washed over her. "May the gods take what is there's. You do not belong here and you will be removed." Her voice sounded nearly otherworldly as she spoke, she stood and concentrated on the energy flowing through her making sure it was all clean...it was pure. At least what few plants there were in this city survived meaning she didn't have to draw from the few surviving people, a light wind picked up around her swirling a bit of the dust that surrounded her. Layne the Exile

Layne woke facedown on the floor of the seedy bar he had been wasting his day away in. The last he remembered, he was in the middle of an escalating bar room brawl.

He groaned, and rolled over, trying to shake the cobwebs off. Someone must have cracked me over the head with a stool or something, he thought. Layne regained his feet, and a quick look around showed him that something much bigger had happened than a simple knock on his head.

The bar was torn apart. Half the ceiling was torn away, and there were holes in the floor where jagged rock protruded through. There were numerous corpses around him, some destroyed almost beyond recognition, crushed by the collapse of part of the building, struck by debris, or torn apart by the jagged rock.

"What the f...," he began to mumble. A sound from behind stopped him. He was sure he had heard someone moan.

Layne turned around and saw a large, barrel chested man regaining his feet. After a moment he recognized him as one of the men he had been fighting. The man looked at him and let out a low moan, then began shuffling toward him.

"Ahh, look buddy, I don't think this is the best time to continue our little scrap," he said, backing away. "Just take a look around you!"

The man continued towards him. Something about him seemed very...wrong.

"Look, back off, I don't want any more trouble!" the Exile said, fear creeping into his voice. The man did not look right. There was no glint of intelligence in his eyes, no expression on his face...save for one of hunger.

As the large man lunged at Layne, the street savvy Exile pulled out his switchblade and imbedded it in the mans neck. The man didn't seem to notice, and turned to lunge again.

My God, that's not possible! He's like a..., Layne thought, eyes going wide as it became clear. The zombie-for there is no other word to describe it-lunged again, and this time Layne met it with a kick to the face that knocked it over. Out of desperation, Layne grabbed a nearby bar stoll and struck the creature in the head until it stopped moving. Trying to calm himself, Layne breathed deep and pulled his blade from the battered zombie's neck. All thoughts of calm fled him, however, when he heard more moans, and saw other corpses beginning to rise. Men and women missing arms, legs, and vital organs. It did not stop them.

Layne wasted no more time thinking. The doorway of the bar had collapsed, so he made for the next exit he saw; the gaping hole in the ceiling. Layne quickly jumped atop a table and sprang up, grabbing hold of the lip of the hole and pulling himself out of the bar. He found a fire escape down the side of the building, which took him to an alleyway.

They could be all over the city, he thought. Areas of dense population would have to be avoided. Hopefully, the alleys will be safe enough, until I can find a way out of here, or a place to hole up at least. The Exile ran off down the alley, carefully watching the shadows for any sign of movement.

Maj. Brock Mason

Brock Mason geared up for battle. A light machine gun, semi-auto sniper rifle, a 10mm handgun, his sabre, and a combat knife would make up the arsenal that the big man would bear into the fray. He made a mental note to avoid placing his life in Ivanova's hands if at all possible. The man had proven to be a brash hot-head already, and Brock hadn't survived nearly 10 years in the Dread Legions of Wretchengard by rushing in to things. He smirked slightly at his teammate Henry Kobe's comment.

I've got balls of steel, thanks, the big man thought as he followed his commander off the ship. When they encountered the girl, Brock raised his weapon. They had to be certain she was not an enemy, after all. Once it became clear that she was not an enemy, Brock lowered his weapon.

When the armless creature appeared before them, Brock raised his weapon, but Col. Barok had already dispatched it. The security of the area was clearly comprimised. Brock followed the commander into the hotel, which they could secure at least long enough to find out what the hell had happened.

themnax awoke whith a sneeze. it was his own. the air, what there was of it, was filled with dust.

he reached for his handkerchief and nearly clawed his nose off, or would have if he hadn't reflexively shethed them in time.

something was definately not right. large heavey objects were tumbled all arround. only an odd steel fraim above him kept him from being crushed.

in the distance he heard what sounded like shots being fired. closer to hand there was a sickening sweat oder, and his newly hightened sense of smell told him it was comming closer.

something was not right. very not right. he wasn't lying in his bed. he was ... that's what's going on his mind told him ... under it. how he got there he didn't know but the large heavy objects above and surrounding him were jagged blocks of masonry, part of a wall had colapsed and it was the bed fraime he was somehow under that was keeping it from crushing him.

something else though. something else was, well different.

when he went to sleep, what was it? six hours ago? couldn't have been a full night. he could have sworn he DIDN'T have green fur, retractable claws and a tail.

but he had missed much of the excitement or it had missed him, concealed in and under the rubble as he was.

he had known someday when just the right kinds of stressess occured something would happen and he would chainge. he hadn't known how. or when. or what it would be like.

mostly what it was like was waking up in a dumpster with a very empty stomic.

his body had chainged but his mind was still his same old wierdness. he was awaike. he was physicly sore all over. and he was wondering where he might find something to eat.

carefully he worked his way out from under the rubble. it was even worse then he had at first thought.

he marked the locations of is happenstance den in his mind. it seemed a probable refuge and he would likely want to return to it later.

quickly he realized he had both advantages and some pretty severe disadvantages in this form. it seemed unlikely he'd be able to speak clearly enough to make himself understood, and while his streangth and agility were greatly enhanced over what they had been as a human, as a large green cat he was likely to be shot at first and asked questions of later if at all.

it was then that he noticed the source of the stench. what appeared to be walking injured were shuffling passed in small groups. they haddn't noticed him and he wondered where they were going and why. they haddn't noticed him though and somelittle tickle of memory told his it might be best to keep it that way.

he headed toward where his kitchen had been but no go. the roof had completely colapsed and crused where the fridge had been to a space that could no longer possibly have held anything edible without it being contaminated with stray bits of mettal.

he wondered what decayed human flesh might taste like but his mind rebelled at the thought and only an iron dicipline of mind kept his stomic from doing likewise.

He was growing weary from running so hard, but his fear pushed him harder. He neared the location where he heard the gunshots, but a mass of the living dead were before him. Justin had no choice. A zombie lurched fowards at Justin, it's jaw hanging agape, exposing the yellowed, blood-stained teeth. The scientist sprung to the side, but the zombie's hand ripped through his pristine white lab coat, getting caught in the fabric. Justin struggled to get the zombie's hand free, eventually wrenching the whole bony hand free of the thing's wrist. He fought nail and tooth to get free of that circle of undead, and finally he broke through, not far from the hotel where the commandoes were. He didn't have time to rest, though, because the zombies had turned and were making their way towards him with slow, shuffling steps. Out of the corner of his eye, the commando spotted a strange black blur. He recognized it as the same thing that had struck down the man in the lab coat. It launched itself from the side of the building it was clinging to, decending on Henry. Jay let a full volley rip, trying to hit the elusive creature. Wherever he shot, however, the creature had already moved on. As the thing got closer to Henry, Jay heard a clicking sound. He was out of bullets. The agile creature would get to Henry before he could reload. Jay drew his combat pistol and fired several shots at the creature, striking the thing once in the arm. I'll take all the grenades and set as many traps as I can." He yells, occasionally peeping out the window, watching the hundreds of shambling bodies work their way down the street towards them.

"Damn, they must have been brought by the gun fire, I'm gonna call for some back-up!" Getting on the radio he desperatly trys to call HQ...

Coming in through the door Henry drop the man on the floor. The gun fire has gotten much more intense, seeing his team mate shooting out the window, he moves to join them.

Emily rush over to the man, to give him medical attention. Placing her fingers on the mans throat she take his pulse. “He’s alive” she yells out. Placing her palm on the man forehead she pulls his eyelid back. The pupil doesn’t dilate. “He unconscious though."

Firing only one round burst Henry is trying to make every round count. As more and more of the creature approaches he has an idea.

“Col Barok, I mean no disrespect, but I have an idea” He pauses as he fires a round into one of the creatures head. “It wouldn’t take long at this rate until they over run us. However, I hope there is a back door. Before we slip out the back way I could rig some explosives and bring the house down around them, that way they can’t follow us.” He pauses again to fire another round. He looks around the room “It wouldn’t take much to bring this place down.”

He waits for decision from his commander

Stops collecting the grenades, turns to Henry, "Do it, I can't get a f*cking signal, we are to far under. Hold your position while Henry plants the explosives, we will then fall back and blow the building to stop those things from following our escape. Lets move!" he yells over the almost continuous gunfire. "You'd better get started."

He takes up a position by the broken door fram and begins to take careful aim at the nearest zombies head...

For Henry this was the best part of the Job. Taking the grenade he took a quick look around trying to find the key structural point, after making a few calculations, he started.
This hadn't been the first time that he had done something like this, nor would it be the last. On most of the pillars he used some C-4, and on others he used the grenades just for that added kick. Once he had all the explosives set in place he had to decide how he wanted to trigger it. He could put it on a time, but then they might not be clear. Or he could step up a trip wire, but again they might not be clear. Lastly he could set a remote trigger, this would take a little long be he knew that they would be clear before the bomb went off.

These where his options, taking a slit second he made the call.

Reaching in his bag he pulled out a series of electronics. This was something that he had done some many times that he could do it in his sleep. Putting the detonator in the in the C-4 he checked all the connection with his multimetre to make sure they where running hot. Glancing over at his watch he knew that they were running out time. From the detonator he ran wires to the other explosive. Once this was done he input the blast timings into the detonator. In his head he ran a quick check list to make sure that he had done everything.

Once he was sure that he hadn’t missed any thing he ran into the main lobby.

“Here Col” he held out the remote trigger “Push the big red button, and you’ll bring the house down for the grand finally. Just make sure that we are clear, cause as soon as you push the button, it goes boom.”

As his teammates scurried around him setting explosives and planning the escape, Brock saw his first real chance to prove his usefulness.

The large Wretchengardan walked over and kicked out a window, then folded out his bipod and aimed his machine gun at the crowd of undead below. The machine gun barked and spat death for many long seconds, sawing through the mass of walking corpses. Brock targeted the zombies closest to the hotel, hoping to hold them back.

After stalling the zombies somewhat, Brock ran down to join the rest of the team in the lobby.

Devon tilts her head a moment. And shoves her staff into his hands. "Yep thats them, move away from me I've got to let them touch me. Get to somewhere where they can't get ahold of you. Under the rubble behind me works there's a small hole, but you should fit." She reached down with her now empty hands and grabbed the razor sharp blades of her daggers. "I'm going to have to draw off myself, we've got no time to get away from them." The blood dripped down her hands where the large arteries that go into the palms had been cut. "Prepare to wrap my hands tightly so I don't bleed to death." The Devon tilted her head again muttering a curse. "Left wrist too..." With that she dropped her hand to her side and as the zombies came into sight slit the veins in her left wrist open crosswise, she'd have more time to get the bleeding stopped that way.

Blood dripping down from both her arms leaving small droplets on the ground Devon stepped forward and waited for death to embrace the searing heat of life.

Alexei was fireing off round after round into zombie skulls as he backed into the building from the front entrance, but the fiends were gaining on him. Running out of ammo, he threw his AK-47 at the zombies and pulled out his automatic shotgun.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Running towards the back door, Chris was yelling, "Somebody hold this girl! I have a weapon! I can help!"

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Not wasting shells, Alexei slammed the doors shut and put a chair in front of them. He looked to his left, only to be attacked by a zombie! The thing was much taller than him, surprising since Alexie was 6'1", and went straight for his neck. Alexie held one of the zombie's arms up and brought up his weapon. The zombie opened its mouth and went for his jugular, only to have Alexei shove the automatic shotgun barrel into its mouth.

"Fuck off," He said as he pulled the trigger, blowing the zombie's brains across the room.

Paul found a cop car stopped in the middle of the road. As he walked toward it, he could sense something looking at him. Paul ignored his parinoia and just kept walking to the open door of the squad car. The car was empty, but there was pleanty of rifle ammo of the type he was looking for. He loaded some ammo.

Just then, he noticed that someone - or something - was looking at him. He turned around and saw two cops staring right at him. They were zombies! Paul raised his rifle and started shooting....

Entering the weapons shop, he checks the shelfs and boxes...finding little...but still something.

"They cleaned house," he mused as something moaned...in the doorway...

It was so close...it frightened Chris and he dropped his flashlight, leaving only an dim light on, focus in the corner. Chris fired wildly, but the zombie got the better of him, forcing him down to the floor and knocking the gun out of his hand.

Holding the fiend's head with one hand under its bloody chin and one on its decaying forehead, Chris tried to snap its neck, but he couldn't get a good enough grip. The horror clamped down its jaws on Chris' left shoulder and Chris let out a scream...of pain...of terror...

Thinking fast, he grabbed the still-lit flashlight and smashed the zombie over the head with it. Chris scrambled to his feet and pulled out his knife, swinging it low as to cut the zombie's knees out from under him. However, the zombie had not gotten to its feet yet, and Chris's knife connected with the zombie's skull, making a sickening sound. The zombie groaned and collapsed.

"I'll see you in hell!" Chris exclaimed as he retrieved his knife from the rotten head. "Medic!" He called to the team, grasping his shoulder where the zombie had gotten a mouthfull, and searching the floor for his pistol.

Chris shot her a look as if to question her intelligence level. Had she not seen all around them? Had she not seen the zombie?...zombies...?

"We don't want anyone to die here!"

"Doesn't seem like that stops anyone from moving...or eating..." Chris replied sarcastically, but without a smile to indicate a joke was told.

"I want Kobe, Chris, and myself to secure the perimeter."

Chris clenched his left shoulder and the blood seeped between his fingers. Stepping on his gun, he bend down to pick it up.

Alexei got to his feet quickly, checking his body for any signs of injuries. Luckily, there were none...

The dim light danced along the bloody and broken walls, as if to symbolize the undead looking for him, their next meal.

Hearing a moan, he pulled the pin on his grenade. Waiting a few seconds, he threw it out and up, so that it would explode on the ceiling in order to shed light on the car garage where he was staying. Unfortunately, it was now night, a fact formerly unknown to Alexei. However, the explosion quickly showed him the location of the zombies and even caught some on fire. They were all around him, slowly pacing their way in.

Switching the light on at the end of his automatic shotgun, he aimed it at one head, than another, and then a third before the first sense of panic struck. There were so many...too many...

He unloaded into a certain section, using the spread from his shells to take out 2 or 3 with one shot, and then using the shotgun as a shield pushed his way through some, eventually falling, but fighting his way back up.

Punching and kicking his way through, he made it to the wall of rubble and began climbing....only to see the zombies. Some fell down to greet him...while others waiting above...dripping blood from their rotting mouths.

The Fall of a Hero
Dan couldn't believe that no one else would listen to him. He wanted to escape and he knew trouble was comming. Dan found Paul and tapped him on the shoulder.

"Civlian," Dan said to Paul. "Do you know this city fairly well?"

"No," Paul replied sarcastically. "I only helped build half of it."

"Do you know any way out that may not have been destroyed by the earthquake?" Dan asked again.

"Yes," Paul explained. "Down by the river, at the east border of the city, there is a bridge that may have lasted. It would be the only safe way out."

"Can you take me there?" asked Dan.

"Yes," Paul said. "Why?"

Dan poited his pistol at Paul and said, "This city is not safe. You are going to take me to the exit or I'll blast your brains over the floor. Be thankful that you are going to be the one that escapes with me." Paul kept calm and started walking. Dan's pistol was pushed against Paul's back and Paul led Dan all the way to the bridge....

They arrived at the river to find the bridge intact. Dan started running over to the bridge. "Freedom at last," he thought. Dan started to walk, but then Paul shouted for him to stop.

"Do you have any C4 with you?" Paul asked.

"Yeah," Dan replied.

"We need to destroy the bridge before zombies cross it into the rest of the world," Paul explained. "We can rig the explosives at one end of the bridge and still be able to cross into freedom." Daniel agreed and they started setting up explosives. They prepared to cross, but then a horde of zombies came into sight.

"Run!" Dan shouted. "The zombies are comming!" They went toward the other end of the bridge and pressed the button triggering the C4. It didn't explode. The zombies were closing in on them; the horde had almost reached the end of the bridge. It was at that point that Dan realized that he was evil and only looking out for himself.

"Go!" Dan shouted to Paul. "I'll have to trigger the C4 at the source."

"But you'll die," Paul objected.

"That no longer matters," Daniel said confidently. "We can't let these zombies out in the open." He ran over to the end of the bridge. The zombies were closing in on him. Dan pulled out his pistol and shot the explosives. The C4 exploded and Dan died, along with the zombies. Paul jumped into the river as the bridge collapsed....

Punching and kicking his way through, he made it to the wall of rubble and began climbing....only to see the zombies. Some fell down to greet him...while others waiting above...dripping blood from their rotting mouths.

Alexei saw one of the fiends fall. It missed his platform by a few feet and continued down to the bottom, where the others ate it and continued on. He cocked his gun. They were having trouble climbing, yet it took little effort to fall.

One landed on his platform, but he quickly kicked it off while shooting another one down.

Raining zombies...great...how the hell do I get out of here?

Pulling another grenade out of his pocket, he climbed as far up as he could go without the undead reaching up and tossed the explosive up through the escape hole.

The shock rang through his ears, but Alexei quickly climbed up and into the burning lobby of the even more destroyed hotel. A zombie, caught in a raging inferno, approached him before burning up and collapsing at his feet.

Alexei looked into the parade of zombies in the streets and thought only one thing...he needed to get back to that dropship...

Mason looked at the fallen creature. "Damned things!" he spoke out loud to no one in particular.

He felt a jolt of pain in his left arm and grimaced.

He had been walking on the sidewalk a few hours earlier. He was going home to watch to check out the damage from the quake and heard a vehicle coming down the road. He looked up and saw a truck grinding along the side of the building towards him at high speed. His reaction time was a little slow, but he managed to jump into an alley way. His arm had been clipped by the truck, and he was pretty sure it was broken.

After that, he had encountered his first creature. He beat the thing's head in with a pipe and ran away.

He had been lost for several hours now, encountering a number of the creatures along the way. He often heard gunshots, no doubt survivors battling the creatures. There was still hope of finding someone alive.

"I have got to get a gun or something." He hefted his bloody and dented pipe, and began walking down the street.

Mason spun when he heard the moan. A dead cop was lurching towards him. He thought about running, but saw that it still had its belt on, gun in holster.

"Come on you bastard." He waited until the zombie was close enough and used a backhand motion to swing the pipe into the side of its head. He heard a sickening crunch as its skull caved in. The zombie fell over dead for the last time.

Mason reached down and took off it's belt. He put it on, feeling comfort at the weight of the pistol at his hip. He unholstered the weapon and slid out the clip with fair difficulty. His arm hurt like nothing else. Luckily, the clip was full, and he slid it back in. He cocked the pistol. There were also three other clips in the belt as well as a walkie talkie and a nightstick. He decided the pipe was still useful, and slid it into his pocket.

He pulled out the walkie talkie and tried to turn it on. Nothing happened. He opened the battery case up and discovered that there were no actual batteries.

"Of all the damned luck."

He put the walkie talkie back and started moving off down the street, picking his way over a partially collapsed building.

"Go away..." he whispered to the zombies, not expecting a reaction. A moan, and Alexei spun around, only to see a zombie reaching its arms out to grab him. Alexei pulled his shotgun up...and paused.

The zombie wasn't moving...it was stuck...but on what?

Pulling the trigger, he blew the zombie's head off, yet it still remained stuck on the broken metal I-beam. Alexei tried pulling the body off and after much effort was despensed, he suceeded...only to find that nothing was holding it on.

Shaking his head, he began to walk away but remembered that he left his automatic shotgun back with the corpse so he decided to retrieve it.

Upon reaching the weapon however, it was similarly stuck to the headless body, and gave resistance whenever Alexei tried to pick it up. Intrigued, he picked up some scrap metal and held it near the felled zombie...it was somehow magnetic!

Paul was sure he had broken a few bones in the fall. It was a miracle that he had broken only a few bones from a fall like that. However, he was a former wrestler, now a construction worker and he had great strength endurance. It would put Paul's endurance to the test as he walked the deserted streets looking for the others.

Paul was walking for a half-hour before he heard something. He drew his rifle and pointed in the direction of the noise. "Who's there?" he called out to see if the commandos were there. If it was not the commandos, chances was that it was the zombies....

Greg Ladel woke up sweating. He had no clue where he was. Actually, he couldn't remember anything. He was lying in the dirt, blood dripping from his leg. He looked at it. He had broken it somehow. Greg pulled off his shirt and tied it around his leg. He crawled a few feet to a metal pole and grabbed it. He hoisted himself up onto his one good leg, using the 3 foot pole as a walking stick. All around was fire and wreckage. There was a car burning upside down on the ground. For the first time, he looked up. Nothing. He had to be underground. Greg walked to the car and found a blood stained duffel bag. Something was wrong. He looked in. A cell phone! He picked it up and stared at the screen in horror. 'Low Battery' flashed. Greg delved deeper into the bag. He felt something metallic. In a few moments a gun was brought from the bag. It was a Smith and Wesson 629. There was something seriously wrong around here...

In the hand of it is a black object. Due to the lack of light, Greg can not see what it is. As he reaches for it he realizes what it is. It was an XM radio. As he picks it up, he turns it off and the buzzing from it stops. He begins on his course again.
He hears a groan. On the ground is a body of a female. "Are you alright miss?"he asks. "Miss?" The body gets up and shuffles towards him grabbing for him. He knocks her off.
"Do that again and you'll regret it." Stop it!" "NOW!" he yells. She doesn't stop. He removes the revolver from the bag. He shoots at her foot. In a blast of flesh, it flies off.
The woman continues moving towards him, footless. He shoots her once clean in the head. It is over.
After she fell, he looked at her. Her corpse was previosly mauled. "What is this?" "I need out of here" "HELLO" he yells. "HELLO" he yells again. With only 4 rounds left he moves onwards.

Once again trudging along the hallowed streets in solemn silence he slowly begins to recite;

"Now hollow fires burn out to black,
And lights are fluttering low:

Mason sat in the wrecked ambulance. He had made a fairly good splint using gauze and other medical equipment, and was feeling better about his arm. He also found some painkillers, and took those as well. He watched how many he took, not wanting to slow his reaction in case one of those things got the drop on him.

He heard a shuffling noise and picked up the pistol and aimed it at the back of the ambulance. A zombie shuffled into view from outside the ambulance and looked at Mason. It lifted its arms and began to try to get into the ambulance. Mason pulled the trigger once and the bullet went straight into the things head, throwing it back.

He jumped to the ground and looked around to see if the thing had any friends. Finding the area clear, he began to walk down the street, walking around wrecked and abandoned cars as well as rubble from the quake. This was hell on earth.

Walking down the street in front of the group, CAR-15 hanging by its strap, he pulls out an old iron coin with a now faded image of a man.

"What the..." he exclaim, knowing he had not dropped it. Bending down to pick it up he find it quite difficult, only prying it by using a small piece of debrie to go underneath it.

"Any you others notice strange things happening with metal?" he asks.

Good old aluminum construction (for his rifle) at least that isn't getting heavier. he thought with a small smile.

"I live in this city. I was coming back from work when the earthquake hit. My car was all but crushed by rubble, and I managed to get out unhurt. I got hit by a truck, hence the arm." He held up his now bandaged and splinted left arm.

"I started running into these things and killing them."

As the group made there way through the street Emily looked to her left and noticed a dim light on in the shop, and that’s when it hit her.

“Why didn’t I see it before.” She yelled out. Breaking from the group she kick open the door, and made her way into store. For a moment she just stared up at the Fluorescence light, just thinking.

Henry had chased after her, and was a bit confused. “What I don’t get it” he asked “It just a light bulb.”

Emily nodded. “I know, but when the city sank, we got off from the power grid”

“Ok then why is it on, then.” He inquired.

Emily reached up and pulled the light out of the socket; despite being disconnected it was still dimly lit. “Well” she explained “fluorescence work a bit different from regular bulbs. Normal bulbs are just big resistor, were as fluorescence light up when an electrical current runs through them. The reason that this bulb is lit, is because there is an current running through, as very small one.”

Again Henry had a confused looked on his face “But we are not getting any power from the grid”

A smile came across her face. “I know” she begun swinging the bulb through the air. When she did this the light grew brighter. “We are in the middle of a gigantic magnetic field. It’s in flux, therefore it creates a small electrical current, thus lighting the bulbs”

"Who's there?" Paul called out again. It was then he heard someone recite a poem/chant. He reconized the voice as one of the commandos. Paul limped over to them. "Dan is dead. He died destroying the only easy exit. In a life where he was only looking out for himself, he went in an unselfish way." He paused. "What has happened while I was gone?"

Could someone reply to this?

Putting his gun in his holster, Chris pulled out the paperclips again, this time holding them up to his right shoulder. No magnitism...they just fell to the ground...

However, when Chris bent down to get them, they began to shake and lept towards his left, bloody shoulder.

At the sound of an explosion and gunfire, Chris spun around. Blood and gore was flying everywhere as groups of the undead attempted to overtake a man...

Ivanova...

With another explosion, Alexei got to his feet and ran towards the shop where the people were located. He turned his upper body as he ran, firing shells into the zombies in pursuit.

About halfway towards the base of the living, he stopped as his right hand seemed not able to go any further. He pulled and pulled, yet Alexei could not budge.

"I'll see you in hell!" He said, letting go of his automatic shotgun. It flew backwards and through a zombie's skull.

"Fuck in' things are magnetic!" He screamed, throwing a grenade and then continuing his escape.

Alexei reached the group only to have a gun barrel shoved in his face. Looking around, he noticed that everyone else was suffering from the same fate. The Colonel shot him a look of hatred as his gun was stripped from him.

"STOP THIS! We gotta get out of here! They're coming!" Alexei protested.

The commandos looked at each other, either nodding or shaking their heads. "You all have been exposed to prolonged and extreme magnetic fields and energy. You will be taken back to headquarters...to make sure you all are ok."

The man took out a scanner and looked at readouts of each person. "One of you cannot be taken back," he said, pointing at Chris. "I will not allow a potential biohazard in my ship, or the...shelter..."

Chris looked at the ground. He opened his hand and levitated the paper clips in his palm.

"What's happening to me?" he asked himself...

"That's unacceptable!" Alexei responded, not waiting for the colonel to reply. "Who the hell are you?"

"That's not important," the agent replied, lifting his gun and aiming for Chris's head. Chris didn't react, but instead continued to play with the paperclips. Adjusting his aim for Chris's heart, the agent fired a three-shot burst into Chris's chest.

Chris fell peacefully, collapsing on the ground in an almost fetal position.

"Anyone else?" an agent asked. No one replied. "Good...you will be coming with us. Now move out!"

So everyone left the safety of the shop and ventured once more out towards the crawling streets.

OOC: Don't try to be a hero just yet. Think rationally and go along with the agents. There are 10 of them, all armed to the teeth. Plotting an overthow is fine...just don't have your guy avoid capture and then pop out and pop some head in. Eventually an overthrow will have to happen, since this is not the end....and that will probably happen during a zombie confrontation.

Damn, and I had 45 shots in that thing too, he thought to himself while being led down the street by these armed assailants.

*Sigh* at least I got my boot knife, but that won't be much help against these guys, who ever they are.

Looking at the men he sums them up, type II body armor, kevlar helmet, bio hazard mask, some form of assault rifle, two pistols, and what seems to be a grenade baret.

Thinking back to his training he wondered how to deal with this, only one thing came to mind, use the enviorment.

With that he started to make his foot steps and breathing as audiable as possible, Common you hungry bastards, common! and jestures to the others to join him.

Alexei was horrified. Was the colonel mad? These things...these monsters...they were more dangerous than their captors.

Thinking of Chris, he shook his head. "Contaminated?" he thought to himself. No...Chris was probably eaten by now...

A moan was heard and the leader of the agents put his hand up, signaling them to stop. An agent was sent towards the sound...

The screams, nothing near human, rang out from the dark alley and then quieted after a long ten to twenty seconds.

"COME ON!" the leader yelled to his agents and the other men and women that he had in his custody as he led them down the alley, flash lights darting every which way...

http://207.44.246.95/129/44/upload/p330.jpg

An agent threw up in his helmet, blowing his chunks all over his face. Another, who was shining the light on what was left of the man, seemed frozen in place, staring at the carnage.

A few feet from the remains laid the mask and gun of the agent who the leader had sent in.

"What...did I...do...?" The leader mused, taking off his mask. The other agents snapped back into reality, moving their gazes from the corpse to thier leader. The leader saluted them all, raised his gun to his temple, and shot himself.

Henry couldn’t help but shakes his head, the team leader was more then willing to kill Chris, but couldn’t handle what was going around him.

“Not a good time to lose ones head” he said coldly. “Oh well, now we have some extra ammo to split up between us.”

Thing are really getting worse he thought to himself. The Colonel is losing his mind, now this. For the first time since all this begun he was beginning to wonder if they where going to make it out alive.

Emily gasps in horror at Henry’s comment. “The man just killed himself, doesn’t that mean anything to you?”

Henry thought for a moment “No, in situations like this there are two types of people. Those how fight to survive, and those who don’t. He could handle the pressure; we are better off with out him. I would have thought that your father had taught that.”

“I’m not my father, or some mindless soldier” she shot back.

Henry was getting annoyed with her by this point. “You, I though with you being a Williams, we could have expect more from you. I’m surprised your father has not publicly disowned you.”

She cocked her head to the side. “What the hell does the mean?”

“Members of the Williams Family has a reputation as being great warriors” he paused for a moment “You are nothing more then a pencil pushing geek. Honestly we would be better off without you, I’m tired of babysitting.”

His words touched a nerve, she had spent her entire life trying to escape her family’s legacy, even here she couldn’t get away from it. She raised the gun that she had been given and pointed at Henrys head.

He was surprised at this turn of events “I see, you going to shot me know. Sure why not, lets give these SOB’s another free meal, we’ve given them so many already, why not one more. That should slow them down a bit.” He could see the anger in her eyes.

With the gun still pointed at his head she just stood there. Taking a deep breath she closed her eyes and pulled the trigger. When she opened them Henry was still standing there.

Turning to look at the wall behind him he saw where the bullet was lodged in the wall. He turned back to face Emily, her armed was dropped to her side. “Good, now focus that anger on them, it will keep you alive”

Colonel Juslin Barok

The agent stammered back, "W-well... I s-say no! Get b-behind me. I'm t-taking point!"

As soon as the agent's back was turned (he was the one closest to prisioners and the others are in front facing back) Barok reacts, grabbing his boot knife he brings it up and hold it against the agents neck. With his other hand he grabs the rifle along with his arm and begins to use him as a living shield. He calls out to the other seven agents, "Drop your weapons, and your side arms, do it or he dies!" he draws the blade a bit, letting some blood leak out.

"D-do i-it!" the hostage agent cries. The others comply, dropping the weapons, clanging unto the blacktop.

"Good, now kick them towards me and turn around." the comply, but slowly and cautionusly. Stripping his hostage of the weapons he kicks him away.

"Run! Run or I will open fire," he shoots one in the back of the leg, just below the knee. The others scramble to help and begin to take off down the street with Barok taking "random" shots at them.

"Get the weapons," he says looking back at his cohorts, then taking aim and breaking the handcuffs with a two round burst.

Looking back at the running agents he notices a shape in the distance. Suddenly three fast moving man sized things run out across the street, grab three agents, and run back into the shadows. This happens twice more, till no more are seen.

Then the screams start, the blood curtling screams of death, of being eaten alive by hungery mouths and fingers. Then the shapes emerge from the shadows again, running towards the group with surprizing speed.

Still mezmerized from the inital attack and the screams Barok thinks, what the hell are those? They move to fast to be zombies, but..., luckly someone behind him takes the initive, and begins to fire at these "super" zombies. The first two shots hit the lead one on both sides of its chest, it barely slows down.

By this time Barok slowly comes out of his haze, Oh shit!, taking aim he fires once, twice, three times, the first two being perfect head shots, dropping them where they stood, the third once missed, allowing the creature into melee range and it begins to grapple with the Colonel...

25-12-2003, 05:11
"I have an idea, why dont we move into the center of the town. There we might find some stores. I found an XM radio on the ground. Maybe we could find some batteries for it and try to find out where we are. And maybe we could get ahold of my Great Uncle. He is the president of LAO. I bet he could send a team after us if we could find a way to contact him." Greg looked around at Mason. He tossed the radio in the air and hoped Mason would catch it.

"Well, all we can do is try," said Greg. Greg looked into the distance. "I think i see a store up ahead!" Greg satrted running. But then in front of him stood a horror. This wasn't like the original zombie, no. It was more ferocious looking. Instead of walking, it ran. Greg pulled for his gun, but when pulling it out, he hit the ejector button and his shells fell to the ground. All but one rolled into a nearby gutter. The zombie ran at him. Greg dropped to the ground in a roll. He stuck out his leg and tripped the zombie. Then, with the zombie stalled, he dropped to the ground to load the cartridge. "Mason, take him!"

Mason pulled up his arm and aimed at the creature. He fired a shot, but it hit the thing in the shoulder. It recovered very fast and headed at him. He took aim again, and shot it in the forehead. It stumbled, but at the speed it was going at, collided with Mason, taking him to the ground. The thing was still alive, and opened its mouth ready to bite. Mason shoved the pistol into its mouth and let off three shots. The things head blew apart in peices, sending brain and blood in all directions.

"Damned dirty thing." He pushed the creature off and shot it once more in the head for good measure.

He stood up. "Do you have any idea what that was?"
25-12-2003, 18:09
"I have a hunch," said Geg as he loaded the round and stood up, "I think it was some sort of increased mutation. A Mega Zombie if you will. Maybe it had some sort of diseaese when all of them changed and what ever changed them made the disease more powerful. Lets go into the store and get some new clothes and maybe they have a gunsection. I have been roarin to get a shotgun."

"Sure, sounds good."

Mason began walking towards the store.
27-12-2003, 04:04
Greg walked to the back of the store. There it was. The gun section. Almost everything had been cleared out. There was still plenty of ammo around. After looking, he found a couple of boxes of .44S&W for his magnum. Greg walked behind the counter and found it. He found a shotgun. More or less a 'Boomstick'.
http://www.freewebs.com/tkotm/Db_shotgun.jpg

After grabbing a bookbag and filling it with the magnum ammo and about 10 boxes of shotgun ammo he yelled,"Hey, Mason, come over here, they got some ammo!" After yelling that, Greg walked over to the hardware dept and grabbed a saw. Beleiving that the long end of the shotgun would slow them down, he sawed off the ende, makind it compact.

Unfortunately for the group, the remaining agents easily gathered up the guns and regained control of the situation. Two agents ran off towards the Colonel's direction, only to be stopped by another...this one the former third in command and the new leader.

"Let him go!" the new leader commanded. "All he can do out there is die...and hopefully take some out before he gets to death..."

Alexei rubbed his wrists where the cuffs had been hastily removed. He looked at Emily...should he?

He decided that he couldn't risk it. While the agents were busy with the injured agent, Alexei took two steps back and started to sprint away when he stopped. Something caught his eye...

It was quick, much too quick to be a zombie...or even another human. Looking over his shoulder, no one had even noticed that he began to run away. It was then when Alexei heard the noise. Not a moan, not a grunt...a sniff...

Something out there was smelling something. The sniff was in front of him...then to the right of him...then behind him...it stayed behind him. Pulling his combat knife out that the agents had irresponsibly bypassed, he spun around...

The other survivors and commandoes were frozen in place as it approached. The zombie, very deformed, was silently approaching the circle of agents. It bypassed the people as it went for the agents, sniffing, smelling for something...

An agent heard it, looked up, and froze. The new leader, noticing the man behind him had stopped working on the injured agent on the ground, looked up and immediately began shooting at the zombie. The bullets grazed the zombie's leg, travelled up it's chest, and blew part of it's face off. However, the thing still slowly approached, as the agents ran to the sides. The zombie didn't seem to notice.

It looked down at the injured man, who was shaking in fear. An agent threw a flare into the large zombie's view, trying to distract the great distorted beast. The zombie looked at the flare and then back at the agent, before finally readjusting his view onto the injured man.

"The bastard did notice," Alexei realized. "It...didn't care..."

The zombie gazed into the mask of the man and opened its mouth. Taking a hand that was now shaped somewhat like a giant claw, the beast ran the man through the stomach, spilling blood and guts onto the ally. Some people threw up...some cried...Alexei just stood there, mesmerized.

The zombie lowered its head and took a bite out of the man's neck, effectively killing his meal in a massive display of blood fireworks. Alexei grabbed the handle of his dagger and approached the zombie. He turned...

...and stuck it into the skull of an agent. The other agents turned and fired, but Alexei used the dead one in his hands as a shield as it absorbed the bullets. The remaining six agents ran down the ally, turned, and left the view of the survivors. Alexei grabbed the agent's gun, ammo, and sidearm, and motioned to the others to follow.

The left the ally, as the large deformed zombie moved from the first agent that it killed to the one that Alexei stabbed. It opened its mouth...and sunk its teeth in...

[OOC: I got permission from Aelosia via telegram saying that she could not keep up and I am free to do whatever with her character, Elianne.]

The group stopped, and panting, Alexei backed into a wall and slowly sat down. Dawn would be soon approaching, and Alexei wanted daylight more than anything right now. A small cry entered his ears...his mind...

Looking over, Alexei noticed the girl, Elianne, crying. Her leg was hurt, and the least thing she needed to be doing was running for her life. Sadly, the least thing that they needed to be doing was sitting still, so Alexei took a swig from his canteen, gave some to Emily, and pressed the group on. With the absense of Barok, he was in charge.

And then the girl wasn't with them. Focusing his flashlight behind them, he caught glimpse of her. Fear was ablaze in her eyes as she limped away from the group. Alexei shouted out, and others did as well, but she would't stop.

Running up to Elianne, Alexei grabbed her by the shoulders and looked inter her eyes.

"Where are you going?" he said with a smile, yet the fear he felt showed through his tone.

"I..." she started. "You know how these things are magnetic, right?"

"Somewhat," Alexei said, remembering his encounter with the magnetic zombie. "What about it?"

"I...I have metal in my leg..." She said, fighting back tears. "They're attracted to me...I...I'm a threat to all of you..."

"No..." Alexei said softly, holding her for comfort. "That's not true..."

"Yes it is," she replied, pushing away. "You all think I'm a child...well I know this..."

"No one else needs to die...no one else is going..." Alexei began but he stopped. Something flashed before his eyes. "Stay down," he whispered.

"NO!" she shouted back, making Alexei cringe. "They're after me!"

And so it was, as the fiend approached faster than any human could. It stopped and looked at Alexei, but simply batted him out of the way. Shifting its view towards the girl, it knocked her down, smacking her head hard off the pavement. She let out a cry as blood seeped from her head, her eyes darting wildly throughout the sky.

Alexei shook his head and blinked his eyes. How the hell was that thing so strong and why didn't it attack him? Zombies being choosy?

The thing, seemingly human and strangely familiar, gazed at the leg of the girl. Putting out its hand and extending its arm, it made the leg raise towards it. Indeed, there was metal in the leg, and somehow the fiend knew how to manipulate its strong magnetic forces. The thing grabbed the crying girl's leg...and ripped it off.

Alexei blinked. Did that just happen? From the screams of the girl, he was sure it did. He looked over at the others...they were hiding. Then again, he was too behind boxes and crates from where he was thrown. He grabbed his gun...this had gone too far.

The thing took a bite out of the leg, put it above its head, and then stabbed it into the girl's stomach. Stomach juices spilled out over the leg and the girl was somehow still alive. Readjusting his aim from the monster to the girl, he put a three round burst into her chest, ending her life and the horrible death the fiend had prepared for her.

It turned to him, but departed into the shadows regardless of the fact that Alexei emptied the rest of the clip into it.

Regardless of the colonel, regardless of the zombies, regardless of these mutated fiends...they needed out. This, and perhaps only this, was clear.

"Come on!" Alexei screamed to those in hiding, ignoring the remains of Elianne splattered across the alley. "We gotta get out of here!"

"What the hell is going on?"

"Isn't it obvious what's going on?" a member of the group said in a trembling voice. "We're all gonna die...w-we're all gonna die!"

"Stop it!" ordered Alexei, but his presentation of the command was less than assertive. Running out of the ally and back onto the streets, they found the zombies were gone. The bodies were gone as well...only the destruction was still apparent.

Day was breaking, and the sun cast the same odd shadow on the midsection of the sunken city. In a store, Alexei and others saw shadows moving about. Raising their weapons if they had any, they entered the store.

"I just wish Dan didn't die destroying the bridge. We could use an extra man to help us," stated Paul as he raised his rifle.

"I'd rather have the bridge," Alexei muttered to himself, unsure if anyone had heard him. The people inside the store...they seemed almost too human to be zombies...

Yet Alexei didn't trust anything he saw anymore...

Mason heard Greg and began running out of the store. As he jumped over a fallen manican, it grabbed him, causing him to fall. He aimed the pistol at the "manican" and fired. It let go and he took off running.
31-12-2003, 04:32
At the exit, Greg seen a gas can. He grabbed one of those $.10 lighters. Grabbing the gas, he poured it around the front of the store. At the end, he set the gas on its side. He lit the lighter, kissed it, and threw it at the base of the gas. "God Speed," he said. As Mason was still running, Greg started to walk. As he walked out, the building exploded, debris flying threw the air. Greg cocked his head to the left, and spit. "Damn dirty zombies."

[OOC: Hope you have a good explanation of why the manicans are coming alive :P ]

The gunshot was all it took to convince Alexei. He burst inside the store, only to collide directly with Mason in the doorway and then get blown back by the explosion. Scrambling to his feet, he aimed his semi-automatic rifle at the man.

"Who the hell are you?" Alexei said, almost smiling with excitement. Were there others alive?

After the explosion, a peice of a manequin landed beside him. It was an arm. He stomped on it and the outer layer broke off. Inside was a metal, robot-like arm. He picked it up. Examining it, he realized that this wasn't a normal manequin. "Someone is testing us. I thinkthis whole thing is a huge test! That would explain why my copter crashed when I flew over here," said Greg. "What would be a reason for you to be here Mason?"
31-12-2003, 04:56
Paul got back up on his feet. "Robots?" he said. "Now I know I'm going insane! Zombies, agents, super-zombies, and now robots!"

31-12-2003, 04:59
"Who are you other guys?" said Greg. Greg held the shot gun behind his back and loaded two shots. After loading that, he grabbed the 629. He raised them towards the newcomers. "Can I trust you? Or are you the people running this 'test'?"

Keeping his rifle aimed at Mason, Alexei pulled out a pistol and aimed it at Greg.

"Well I don't know about you lovebirds, but I was sent here to rescue you shits. We see how that's turned out," he said in a mean tone. "Look..."

Alexei pointed to a large building, somehow still standing, a ways away. It appeared military, and the sun reflected off of its metal surface.

"We need to go there...I need to complete the second part of the mission...regardless if the first can be completed," Alexei said, cocking both of the guns. "So...you coming along?"

"I'm in," replied Paul. "If I don't lose my mind first." He paused. "This can't be real. It's too nightmarish to be real!" he said to himself.

[OOC: Yeah. My character's losing his mind. You would if you saw what he saw.]
31-12-2003, 05:10
Greg put down the guns. "Fine. But I do still think this is a test going on. Have you figured out what in God's name happend in this shithole?"
31-12-2003, 05:12
"This has got to be a dream," Paul said to himself. "Zombies don't exist...."

Alexei looked back at Emily and the others. Turning to Greg, he told the man to pick up his weapons.

"My Colonel is out there somewhere. I still have his lifesigns on sensors," Alexei stated. "We better get moving. Travelling by day is much safer."

He looked Greg in the eye. "This isn't a test...this is something gone wrong...horribly wrong..."

Paul shivered as a cold wind blew down on the group. The wind was cold - and real. That was what was needed to set Paul's thinking straight. "This is not a dream," Paul thought. "That wind is too real." Then a shiver went down his spine that was not due to the coldness....

(OOC: Sorry internet problems: Also let me know if I took this wrong, Barok is seperated from the grp)

Wandering the streets alone, no longer sure of reality or fiction Barok is ever vigilent, fending off zombies as well as he can with his 9.3 inch knife.

Seeing a hord comming at him he turns and runs, however his escape is blocked by what seems to be walking zombies, not shambling, nor running like the super zombies but walking.

Finding a gap in between the buildings he dashes for it...

(YAH! Go insanity)
