Rachel heard the men shouting outside, and walked over near the front door, trying to listen. Thats when the door opened and and a Fanboyist soldier walked inside.

"Ma'am. There's a friend of yours who wants to talk to you," he said matter-of-factly. "His name's Sam. Mine's Peter Wohl, and I'll be your guide for today. That big nasty-looking guy is Sergeant Carius, and the evil looking beanstock is PFC Marks. Please come with us."

"Allright, I cant wait to leave this building for a bit..." Then she stopped.
"Wait, Sam!?" She followed Peter out the door, past the argueing sentry and Seargent Carius.

Sergeant Carius, Wohl, and, surprisingly, Marks, happily led the semi-prisoner to Sam. When they reached him, Carius looked at them both.

"I think we'll leave you two alone together for a little while. See what happens." And they walked off.

Sam looked up at Rachel, and smiled.
"They dont put this in basic training now do they?"
Rachel laughed.
"How are you feeling?" She asked, reaching for his hand.
He took it, holding it tight.
"Im getting better, the doctors are good here. How are they treating you?"
"They have me in an abandoned school, I have a bed and food, its better then what the generals say. The Chancellor was wrong, these arent evil people."
Sam tried sitting up, using his arms to brace himself on the edges of the bed and swing his legs over.
"Sam!" Rachel gasped, "I dont think youve recovered enough to-" Her voice trailed off.
Sam was in the sitting position, legs dangling over the edge of the cot. His pant leg on his right was cut off all the way to the knee, and Rachel could see how tore up it was. It wasent a pretty sight, she knew just by seeing it he would never walk on it again.
"Rachel..." Sam looked straight into her eyes, reaching for her hands again, holding them gently.
"Rachel.." He started again; "I love you. We grew up in the same town together, went to training together, I was planning on proposing when we landed, I had Peter hold on to the ring so he could give it to me when we landed, so I wouldent lose it...But...Looks like thats not possible now..."
Rachel's eyes began to water, she moved foward to hug him.
They interlocked in a kiss, they stayed like that for 4 seconds, but for Rachel it felt like hours. When their lips parted, he whispered into her ear; "Независимо от того, что случается, я буду всегда любить Вас..."

The chancellor was not amused.
The 2nd Division (was it the second? He couldnt remember) pulled back away from the enemy, instead of staying to wipe them out. Now he was having a chat with the general.

"You failed to follow my plan general." The chancellor said, voice even.
"Your 'plan' is to send good men to the meat grinder!" The general retorted.
"You need to follow the plan. All will become clear in time..."
"No! It wont! Your a mad-man. The madness stops here!"
The general pulled out a gun, leveling it at the chancellor.
"Your reign of madness ends now! Your plan is ruined."
The Chancellors eyes went hot with fury.
"NOOO!!! THE PLAN WILL SUCCEED!! THE PLAN IS ALMIGHTY! I WILL BECOME GOD!"
"You sorry soul..." The General whispered, preparing to pull the trigger...

Suddenly, the door burst open and a team of crack ninjas attack the chancellor with SMG's and kill him dead before the general had any idea what was happening.

The new prisoners had just passed inspections and were being taken to the schoolhouse. Walker, along with Korman, were now the full time sentries. The prisoners were four defesian scouts that had just been captured while in the area. The beds (about a dozen) were finally set up, and the place was ready for the prisoners.

FM Hohenzorn was intensely surprised about how well the withdrawal had gone. They had managed to move most of their equipment, and destroyed what they couldn't remove in time. They had at least 500 servicable tanks, and they were pulling back to the coast, radioing for extration to the Federation, and operating under a flag of truce. The extraction fleet (unarmed) would arrive in three days.

Malloy was looking over Sam's X-Rays that were taken before he had removed the rest of the shrapnel, and he didn't like what he saw.
"What is it?" asked a nurse
"It looks like some of the shrapnel could have hit Sam's sciatic nerve. If it did, his leg is pretty much useless anymore. I can't say for sure that it did hit it without a CAT scan or exploratory surgery, but this could end very badly."
Malloy figured he would break the news to him after he was done talking to his Captain. Probably shouldn't spoil his happiness now.

OOC: Nope. Just regrouping properly. I'd have to be nuts to invade someone with only a fifth of my armor at combat-ready, given how much my military relies on armored tactics. And with no airsupport. I've learned my lesson. It's time to send the Federal Air Corps into its first major conflict. And BTW to everyone, THAT IS SECRET IC, so no magically knowing that I'm just regrouping and attacking! To everyone IC, including some of my own troops, it looks like I'm completely withdrawing.

The Chancellor was lying on the floor, he had three holes in his chest, and the blood was staining the egyptian carpet. The second the shots were fired, the Royal Guard burst into the room, weapons drawn in one hand and calling for reinforcements from a radio in another.
When they entered the room and saw their sacred leader lying on the floor, they froze in horror. They slowely pulled down their weapons, and didnt even resist when more coup members came in to arrest them.

NDNN (North Defese News Network

Good afternoon Defese, NDNN has just received word of shots being fired in the Capital Building, witnesses report hearing 3 shots fired, followed by Royal Guard members being escorted out of the building by TRU (Tactical Response Unit--SWAT) officers, we do not have much information now, but we will give you more information as this situation develops.

Racheal sighed, and sat down next to Sam.
"When this is over, if we are allowed to go back, lets move to Port Royall. I have some relatives there..."
Sam put his hand on her shoulder.
"We will deal with that when the time comes, you look tired, you need sleep."

After bringing them their first meal, Sgt. Walker began explaining the rules to the new Defesian prisoners.
"Don't forget, the rec. area will be open at all times. But please don't try to escape, or your friends will lose that privilege. And you have nowhere to go anyway, it's a long way through hostile territory before you reach your lines."

After explaining, he decided to go find out where Rachael was, leaving Korman on guard with another private from the company.

Once the sergeant left, the prisinors began to explore their new surroundings.
They had a brief counsel about scaling the fence, but abandoned that idea after seeing how much desert they would have to cross undetected.
So they just went to their bunks and slept. As night was approaching, being almost 7:00.

OOC: I didn't actually mean "invade ND." On the other hand, I'd be insane to attempt, with heavy armour tactics, to continue further operations anywhere with a fifth of my armor still operatoinal. Odds are I'll just return to SD until everything normalizes, short of a renewed invasion of SD. Then its the 44th, back with a vengence.

On the other hand, my potential (and for that matter, operational) military is considerably larger so, even if that were to happen, I sincerely doubt said Defesian people could just destroy my nation. The paramilitaries/militia have shown on more than one occasion they have no qualms about gassing enemies, including countrymen, if necessary (they were reds). And they are very tough. Years of on-and-off guerrilla warfare will do that. So, even if I were to invade you (and I won't know this sort of thing ICly, while my expeditionary force would have hell to pay at the hands of angry partisans, I sincerely doubt I would have much to fear from a retalitory invasion by militia forces.

On another note entirely, though, it would really be no different than resuming hostilities after a cease-fire expires, as in this case, there was no cease-fire in the first place. So legally, I would still be at war. But an invasion would be protracted, bloody, and ultimately, completely worthless, especially since the Chancellor is dead. I'd gain nothing and lose plenty. I'm already at war with Stok, its not like I need another on-going front opened up, especially as I was planning on increasing troop commitments against Stok.

Meanwhile
The General decided to explore his new office, he sat down in the Acgar skinned chair, and traced his finger along the desk. It was totally bare, and he would be able to decorate it anyway he wanted.
His eye's roamed around the room, eye'ing the pictures hung on the walls, painted by artists all around the world. His eyes rested on a portrait of the Chancellor. He frowned, he thought he had everything of the chancellors burned or sold for scrap.
He got up, casually strolling across the room to inspect the painting.
He passed over what was once a bloodstain, it had been totally removed, but it was still a very faint pink.
He halted in front of the painting, eyes moving to inspect every detail of it. It was obviously worth millions, each stroke was crafted with the entire soul of the painter.
He would enjoy this.
The General took out his knife, and began to cut out the eyes...Then when the eyes were but two holes, he began to slash at the entire painting...

Official Announcment

Due to the death of Supreme Chancellor Palpentine, a new leader has been declared.
General Robert J. Hamson is now the acting Chancellor of North Defese. (Dictater)
He has declared his wishes to end the conflict with the South Defesian people as quickly as possible. He has issued a statement from the Capital Building today, proclaiming:
"It was not the wish of the people to enter a war with their brothers, it is our wish to live in peace, and prosper. I ask the nations currently occupied in Defesian land to stand down, while we send our negotiaters to assure peace is restored."

IC:
A message was dispatched to the new leadership of North Defese. Generalissimo Grimmeberger had been very amused to hear about the death of the Chancellor at the hands of the military. And that, he thought, is why you always keep on the military's good side. Or, better yet, rise from the military yourself. Grimmeberger would never be accused of making that mistake. He was, after all, a General himself. Not just a Generalissimo, but an actual general. He had led a coup much like Hamson's, and assumed power himself. So, it was now time to see if he would find a kindered spirit.

From the Desk of Generalissimo Steven Phillip Grimmeberger

To General-cum-Dictator Robert J. Hamson, Head of State, North Defese

I would like to personally congratulate you on your assumption of power, and to personally thank you for your hand in the Chancellor's death.

As a leader, though, I would like to note your offer of peace with the South and its allies. We would be happy to sign a cease-fire (at the least) or, preferably, a full peace treaty. At this point in time, we will cease hostilities with North Defesian troops, and 44th Armored Division will be ordered to stand down, unless attacked first.

Full peace will be offered first on the following terms:

1) Northern troops will withdraw from South Defese.

2) No retaliation will occur by South Defesian troops against the North.

3) Allied Forces within our jurisdiction will cease combat operations against you.

4) The McLeodians, whom we believe are your allies, will cease combat operations against the South and its allies.

5) All forces by both sides will return to their borders. Humanitarian missions will be permtted to stay to help rebuild ravaged areas on either side of the North-South border.

6) Allied forces WILL return should another war break out between North and South Defese, but this time in the capacity as peace-keepers.

7) No war reparations will be required by or from any nation. Should voluntary reparations be made, those may be accepted.

8) A full peace treaty between all involved parties in this conflict shall be convened at the first opportunity. Such a treat will provide for a permanent North Defesian AND South Defesian nation, until such peaceful political processes as desired reunify the countries (if at all).

Hoping for peace,
Generalissimo Steven P. Grimmeberger
Head of State, Fanboyist Federation of the North Atlantic Territories (FFNAT)
Commander-in-Chief, Federal Armed Forces (FAF)

A similar message was dispatched to all involved parties in the conflict, asking for cooperation in the signing of first a cease-fire, then a peace treaty.

Field Marshal Hohenzorn recieved Hamson's reply.

He immedietely issued a counter-reply, also broadcast to all the surrounding forces of allied nations.

It read:

To Dictator Hamson
We are pleased by your acceptance of the cease-fire and willingness to negotiate a full peace settlement. We would now like to ask all commanders of national contigents to converge on a point on the border (the coordinates will be attached in this message) to begin the negotiation of a temporary settlement, so that a permanent one may be reached by our nation's leaders.
Sincerely,
Field Marshal Erik Hohenzorn
Commander, Federal Defesian Expeditionary Force
