Chanceller Palpentine made the announcment from his office, he stared into the camera, and with a voice of steel he declared:

"For too long the South has mocked us, first breaking away from the ideals and dreams of a united nation, and forming their own, barbaric nationstate.
They now mock us by parading the streets! Burning the North Defesian flag! I have ordered bombers to wipe out the South Defesian military complex, this nation will be united! Under my glory and leadership, I can bring a new age! I will unite this broken continent! No longer will there be a border between Defesians! All hail Palpentine! All hail Defese!"
--
The people were stunned, staring at their telivision screens with a look of horror. No one wanted another war, but no one could go against the Chanceller...
With a great sadness, the men of North Defese sat by their phones, and waited for the call...

The Gordonopian airborne troops landed in gliders in a field near the Gordonopain division. They rushed out, and headed to the division's camp, were defenses were being set up.
One group arrived and asked to see the commanding officer. They were immediately rushed to the command tent, were they were greeted by the Major General.

"Ah, welcome Field Marshal. Our defenses are in place."
"Good."

OOC: Sorry, I was on SD's side even two threads ago...

Generalissimo Grimmeberger ordered Col.General Hohenzorn into his office.

"Sit down, Erik. I have a job for you," Grimmeberger began.

"Yes?"

"You recall our promises of support to South Defese?"

"Yes."

"The North has declared war on 'em. You are now in command of the Defesian Expeditionary Force. Crush 'em."

"Yessir."

"Excellent. Now get to it. I have a war to declare."

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

An hour later, Grimmeberger made the public announcement.

"Because of the hostile and utterly stupid actions of North Defese, we will be dispatching 24 divisions to defend South Defese. As of this morning, a state of war has existed between the Federation and North Defese."

"Sir, we have cleared that Electronic jamming, Radar and data uplinks comming back online now!" Yelled out a Radar tech from his console in the CIC. "Very good! Get me the Sat-uplink of the Souther Defence Capital, I need to see the situation....Also try and raise Major General Hawker, he was in the capital, I need to speak with him." Admiral Jacobs was stressing. Several hours ago there systems had suffered critical system faliure and they had been out of it. Now they needed to get back into the fight. "Sir, You need to see this!" Called out the Information Officer. Walking over to his display screen, Admirals Jacobs mouth dropped open. "The Capital....Its gone.....Major General Hawker must be dead. God Damn it, North Defence must of atacked, Get me a line to Central Command!" North Defese consists of:
Western Australia Northern Territory and South Australia.

South Defese is made up of:
Queensland, New South Wales, and New Zealand. Imagion New Zealand just off the Eastern coast, thats about the best map I can do. :(

Air Base

The 12 Su-30 MKI's were prepped, and began to taxi down the run-way. Their current orders were to scout the northern coast and report and engage any enemy aircraft entering ND airspace.

Col.General Erik Hohenzorn was swearing. Loudly.

"Get your f*cking *sses moving you lousy motherf*cking sons of b*tches!" He was very frustrated with the rate at which the force had been disembarking. "For motherf*ckers that were itching to get into a fight a few days ago, y'all sure are moving f*cking slow as sh*t!"

The long trip over by ship landing at the very southern edge of South Defesian territory had not been kind to him. He had been seasick most of the way and was in a godawful mood.

At least all the tanks and artillery (including AA) had been unloaded. So anyone trying to attack them at this point would be in for a nasty surprise, at least....
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A few days later....

The Fanboyist Defesian Expeditionary Force had finally gotten moving (and had been seriously hauling butt since then). They were only hours away from (what was left of) the capital. They planned to make contact with whatever remained of the South Defesian military and to plann defenses against the Northern aggressors (OOC: Sounds like a certain American Civil War, actually).

IC:

The Northern Airforce was able to manuvuor around Southern airspace relatively freely, with only pockets of Anti Air defeces.

And F22 Rapter managed to spot Fanboyist troops offloading supplies, and relayed his find to Air Command.
With that done, he banked a hard left, and flew back to ND airspace to refuel.

OOC: Is SD still on? Should I be waiting for orders? More importantly, is SD's military even still alive?

IC:
In the meantime, the FDEF had been busy near the ruins of the SD capital. They had created a fortified camp, with their rocket artillery loaded with SAMs to discourage air attack, and their propelled howitzers ready to fire on attackers on the ground, while armour crews were on high alert.

Col.General Hohenzorn had ordered a general search earlier for whatever might remain of the Southern Military or Government for instructions. Because he thus far had not gotten any or found any, he was on soldier default mode: Find/wait for the enemy, then kill him dead.

Two F-35 Lightning II's were patrolling the skys over the shoreline, and spotted the Northern plane on the radar, it appeared that it didnt spot them, so they banked right and armed their weapons. They didnt report the contact to their superiors, since their superiors were no longer alive.

"So general, how are your defenses?"
"They are good field marshal. With all of the work we've been doing, we could withstand an attack by a whole corps. Plus, now we have two more divisions."
"Good. Are all of your men here?"
"Yes they are. Oh, and how long until the main force arrives?"
"About two days. I have a question. Does anyone know where the hell the South Defese government is?"
"No, if any are still alive, they are the only ones who know."
"Okay then. I'll have my SPARTAN company search the capitol for them."
"You have SPARTANS with you?"
"Of course. You never know when you might need them."
"Yes sir."

Finally, in spite of failing to find the South Defese government or military, Hohenzorn managed to raise the Gordonopian General on the communications network.

"General, this is Col.General Erik Hohenzorn of the Fanboyist Defesian Expeditionary Force, sent to aid the South Defesian government. We should coordinate our forces if we have the same mission. Please reply. It would also be appreciated if you could identify yourself, as 'General' is too vague."

With the Fanboy troops coordinated reported to Centeral Air Command, and relayed to appropriate sources, they were now in great danger.

North Defese began firing artillary, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Gun5a.jpg, at the fanboy forces from the mountions in SD territory.
15 Battaries were involved in the barrage.

OOC: Just to be clear on this, where is the SD capital and said mountains? Just wondering. I did see the map, but I'm not sure where everything is.

IC:
"Well, what I had in mind was coordinating any targeting or enemy disposition information, and coordinating our troops to get more done with what we have. We have a total of 607,200 infantry and 1,008 tanks, or 24 divisions. And--" he broke off as the artillery barrage started. "OH SHIT! Commander Barkely! Return fire! All Howitzers! And get the 41A's (41st Armoureds) to go after that position! Tell 'em to clear 'em out! And reload some of the Manticores (rocket artillery) with indirect fire rockets! But only a few! We may still need the SAM's!"

"Listen, Field Marshal, General, we are under artillery fire. We're sending troops to supress it. Can you cover our rear in case the enemy tries anything tricky?"

The 126 tanks and panzergrenadiers attached to the 41st began rolling off towards the hills wherin the enemy artillery was hiding. Meanwhile, the howitzers belched fire and smoke back at the artillery, using hastily gathered targeting information, which ultimately was accurate enough to singe at least a few of the enemy (OOC: I'll leave your casualties from the counter-barrage up to you, ND).

In the meantime, the 41st was making good progress, and were moving fast enough that most (if not all) had managed to avoid drawing fire so far.

Luckily, the dispersal of the camp prevented monstrous casualties, but a good 1,500 men died in the barrage, and another 5,000 were injured in varying degrees.

5 AH-1 Cobra's, along with 6 AH-64 Apache's were deployed to dispatch the Fanboy troops.

They were ordered to wait until the enemy moved foward to when they attempt to supress the artillary, then engage the remaining forces left behind from the rear.

And a small division of tanks, consiting of 50 T-90S Main Battle Tanks. They were to split, and harrass the enemy from its sides.

The attack helicopters struck fast, launching Hellfire missles at the enemy artillary peices.

The machine guns attached the the Apaches procedeed to fire at any Fanboy soldier or light vehicle it could spot.

A barrage of missles were let loose, and a few attack helicopters launched flares into the air, it seemed like a defence tactic, but it was really to signal the tanks to attack the enemy troops.

When they saw the signal, the tanks began the move to the Fanboy position, firing while they moved.

OOC: I just want to make sure you realize what you're doing here. You are sending 50 MBTs and a few copters to attack my ENTIRE army (as posted in my ORBAT), which has several hundred thousand infantry and hundreds of tanks. One of my armoured divisions has 126 tanks alone, and I brought 8 of 'em. I will continue assuming you knew what you were doing, but if you didn't I will edit it. Sorry for the long OOC.

IC: The attached rocket artillery couldn't believe what they were seeing: 11 helecopters meant to take out an armoured division, along with about 50 tanks in assistance. The SAM artillery responded to the helecopters with a salvo of roughly 240 Surface-to-air missiles and the M-21A1 Valkyrie tanks began engaging their opposite numbers (outnumbering them by 126-50) and leaving the panzergrenadiers (carabiners) free to mop up the enemy artillery, which they did by using their APC's and small arms fire to rake the enemy artillery officers.

Meanwhile, the remaining enemy tanks had numerous howitzer shells rained on them, as the fire had to be redirected to avoid hitting friendly troops. All in all, Hohenzorn thought, things were going quite well.

"Interesting," Kazyenko said, sprawled out on a couch in front of a TV. The room was entirely dark, save the flickery light coming from the TV and illuminating the Prime Minister's face. From somewhere in the darkness came a shuffling, beckoing a quick glance from Vladimir.
"Sir, how shall we act?"
The voice was regarding the TV, which showed cutscenes and frontline footage of the North Defese invasion of it's southern neighbor.
"Like always," Kazyenko replied, his eyes still fixed onto the screen. "Get the press. It's been a while since we've made our presence known."

Kazyenko Independence Tower, Falkasia, 10:32 AM
On the white marble steps of the world's tallest building stood the Prime Minister, neatly dressed in a handmade Kiravian suit, surronded on all by assistants and staff. As the reporters in front of him waited anxiously for him to begin, he cleared his throat.

"People of Falkasia, a historic event has occured to day! Not here in our glorious country, but in the nation of South Defese. They have been invaded by their vile neighbor to the north, attempting to overthrow the leader and all form of organization in the country! It has come to our attention that such a hostile and aggressive power such as North Defese must be stopped.

He paused to catch his breath.

"Therefore.... it is with great pride and vigor that I am deploying the 1st Army Corps into South Defese to help quell the violence and ensure victory for the people of South Defese, and establish a peacible solution to quell future conflict before it begins.

The tanks of the 41st Armoured couldn't believe their luck: their first engagement and they had gotten to pulverize enemy armour, and had only lost one tank irreperably (but six more were badly damaged). Which is why it was such a shame they didn't see any of the bombs coming.

And the B-2 has a nuke.
Just kidding, conventional bombs. 10k lb payload

Upon arriving, they were to land at the International Airport within the capitol city and commandeer it for their uses. The 41st never saw the bombs coming. Luckily, the M-21 was a sturdy little thing (or not so little) so they lost only four irreperably. But another 24 were pretty badly damaged (out of action) and another 33 suffered minor damage. The infantry were still en route back, so they pretty much avoided the bombs.

As the bomber began its run over the camp, it failed to account for the fact that the SAM artillery was spread out, so it only actually destroyed a handful (8) and damaged another dozen (14) enough to be out of action, as carpet bombing had limited effectiveness anyway on loosely distributed forces. However, now visible (visually, not on radar) the SAM artillery began firing back by manual and visual targeting (i.e. not terribly accurately).

As the 27th approached South Defese, they radioed the small airport for landing clearence. After only a few seconds and the frantic sound of shuffling papers, it was granted. One by one, the aircraft lined up for their approach vector and slowly glided back down gracefully to Earth, touching down one after another on the oil and skidmark streaked tarmac runway. They taxied to one side of the airport, which was choosen becuase of it's opportune position well out of the way of the main building and fuel supplies, and with it any and all attention garnered by the public. There each aircraft parked and slowly killed their engines. Due to the fact that the support crews were still quite a ways out with the C-5s, the pilots would have to be content using the cover and shade provided by their aircraft until more official and permenat structures such as tents could be brought in.

One pilot in particular, the 27th's designated flight lead "Rainy", remained in his cockpit and quickly searched through the local channels on his VFR and CFR. He was able to pick up snippets of chatter and the infrequent sounds of battle, but nothing really to signify who was friend or foe. Giving up, he pulled himself out of the cockpit and drew off his helmet, slinging it underneath one arm as he climbed down the extended cockpit ladder onto the hard concrete below.

In the meantime, the 41st Armoured had been pulled back to Hohenzorn's HQ/Base Camp, and the 44th and 47th Armoured Divisions were being sent into North Defesian territory to force a confrontation that they could win.

In the meantime, with the enemy's mining force under howitzer fire, Hohenzorn took a few moments to take stock of his situation and send a report to the Generalissimo.

The image on the webcam came to life. Generalissimo Grimmeberger's careworn, bearded face showed up on the projection screen (a bedsheet propped up on a table).

"Yes, how are things proceeding?" Grimmberger asked promptly.

"Quite well. We've already engaged the enemy, who are, quite frankly, barbarians. They seem to have deliberately destroyed a city full of civilians for no other reason then that they were in the way of continental domination. Disgusting really."

"And contact with South Defesian forces?"

"I'm not sure any of them are still alive. We have come into contact with another allied expeditionary force, however, and we are coordinating with them. We've engaged the enemy a few times already, and given them something to think about."

"Good. I want progress reports every other day, is that clear?"

"Yessir." Hohenzorn saluted smartly, his instinctive deferment to command kicking in. Most of the Federation's better officers were Germans like Hohenzorn.

"Good. Grimmeberger, out." And the image died.

Ic:

The Rapters all scattered in a carefull caculated manuvor, and only 1 fighter was shot down.

Moving back into formation, they each turned on their targeting computer uplink, an ingenious top-seceret ND design, which auto-matically distrubuted avaiable targets automatically, allowing faster and more efficent missle attacks. It was never tested outside of combat, but it performed just as it was designed.
The computer designated each fighter plane a target, when all that was done, each jet fired off 2 sidewinders, which meant there was about 2 sidewinders for every enemy jet.

The jets launched their remaining countermeasures, but about 5 were shot down. 3 more ejected, and then crashed into the ground. Only 32 fighters were left, but the 16 plane squadron was just arriving. The 32 fighters fired off another burst of 3 seconds, while the 16 each fired 2 Sidewinders at the enemy planes.

Off in the distance, the sky bellowed the low rumble of incoming aircraft. This, however, was much duller and flat, the telltale signature of some larger piece of equipment coming in. Slowly creating the horizon, a small grey shape grey ever bigger as it approached the airstrip the 27th had commandeered for their use. It took only minutes for the grey lump to close the gap, fully materializing into the unmistakable shape of a C-5. It was followed in the distance by another and another until all were vectoring in on the small runway. Originally, there had been concern that the runway was far too small to support such larger aircraft from coming in, but as the area surronding the airport was mostly barren farmland, overshooting wasn't much of a problem.

As the first C-5 descended, it did the signature tail flip attributed to the plane as it lands; the tail shifting left and then right, followed by the ailerons becoming stuck in an up position due to the wind force. With a thud and a few plumes of dust, the C-5 touched down, still barrelling down the runway at nearly 200 miles per hour. As it continued to lose ground, smoke began rising from the tires as the pilot tried desperately to put pressure on the brakes as the space between overshooting closed dramatically. Second by second however, the plane slowed; coming to a reasonable taxi-speed just barely before plowing over a barbed wire and paying the neighboring farmer a visit. The second C-5 was unable to land, as a slight gust of wind had blown it off course slightly. Instead, it flew directly overhead the rowdy pilots below, it's massive engines shattering the scene and reverberating off the ground. Exposure to it for too long would ahve caused hearing damage, but no sooner had it been directly overhead, than was it circling back around and retaking it's spot at the end of the line. The other C-5s followed suit, each one making a similar landing to the first one, and still with no damage to the farmer's field.

IC: The fleet of boats quietly glided along the waves of the salty ocean. A large man, about 6' 11", muscular, clean-shaven, some wrinkles, about in his late 50s, looked through his binoculars with a furrowed brow. Out in the distance to the west, the direction in which the fleet was traveling, the man could just barely make out a line of thin gray, and the line seemed to be reaching upwards ever more.

"Smoke." He thought to himself. "We aren't too far away." Thinking back to his lessons in the Naval Academy, he remembered how when he first entered the service, he never expected he would eventually be in the position he is now. But now, as Admiral of the 1st Fleet of the Holy Paradisian Navy, George Brown was one of the highest-ranked officers in the nation.

Although Admiral Brown looked the epitome of calmness, inside nervousness racked his mind. He had been involved in some minor skirmishes before, yes, but never something of this magnitude. He wished he was back home. But, then he thought of his family at home and then of the families of South Defese. They were very similar, when he thought about it. "Why should they suffer if I wouldn't want my family suffering?"

A sailor, a bit younger, probably in his early 40s, ran up to Admiral Brown. "Sir, I have the report on our current position." the man said, saluting his superior.

"At ease, Captain Adams, what is the status?" Adm. Brown replied.

"We are about 30 miles away from the shore, sir. Fighters have already been sent to scout." Cpt. Jim Adams replied.

"Thank you, Captain. Get everyone to their battle stations, and make sure the other ships in the fleet have their men ready, too. Our priority is to protect the landing ships and transports." Adm. Brown said.

The fighters were hid bad this time, 4 of them were shot down by cannon fire, and 2 more by the missles.
They retreated a bit to lick their wounds, then they returned with a vengance.
They each targeted an individual plane, and fired 2 more missles at the enemy fighters. The targeting network turned on, meaning the missles could not be distracted by countermeasures.
With the missles streaking through the sky, the fighters got into formation and banked a hard left.
---
Meanwhile
More and more attack helicopters were dropping from the sky, and the Apaches and Cobras began firing hellfire missles at any AA gun they could find.
The gunners opened fire on the enemy infantry, their mounted guns unleashing a rain of bullets and shrapnel.
Meanwhile, the armored division was faring slightly better. Only 5 tanks were lost irreparably, another one got its treads damaged and couldent move.
The infantry began to fall back behind some dunes, opening fire with RPGs.
A request for air-cover was called in, and a few miles away a B-52 Mitcheal was called in, and was asked to drop its 6,000 lb ordanance on the enemy armor.

It had taken all night to unload all of the C-5s, and even longer to make space for them to park. There was only space enough for 3 in front of the tiny terminal building, so a portion of the nearby farmer's field had to be plowed for the rest to park. It was ironic in a sense, that the pilots had tried so hard to avoid an overshoot off the runway only to end up parking in those same fields. However, onboard each aircraft was vital equipment and ground crew essential to the 27th's continued operation. They brought in fuel, food, munitions, trucks, support crews, tents and prefab shelters, and most importantly, working radios.

Within a few hours, small green tent cities began popping up around the airport as shelters were erected and a more formal military base was established. While such facilities were beinging put up, the more defensive-minded ground garrison began to construct hasty earth works surronding the airport, in case a quick defense was needed. It was a two-trench layout, with an outer cylindrical trench for the infantry, and an inner-most trench for the heavy weapons such as machineguns and a few recoiless rifles they had brought in on one of the planes. The really goal though, was to slow any attackers down enough to scramble the pilots and get the planes in the air, of which could make quick work of anything below, including AA batteries or emplacements.

In a side tent nearest the main terminal building, a the 27th's divisional radio had been set up. No sooner had it been turned on, than local chatter began feeding through. First what sounded like a civilian casualty report, then some sort of chatter between tankers, followed by what sounded like an air battle. Still not knowing who was involved in this conflict, nor where they were located, the 27th continued to stay put and maintain a partially concealed position incase they were alone in the endeavor. It was a message that came over the radio that startled them. It had originated from somewhere, presumably a "Port Meag" and relayed information that the South Defesian government was holed up there. Remembering their original orders to hook up with allied forces and help battle back the North Defese invaders, it would likely have been a good place to start searching.

======

Being pilots came with it's perks however. No sooner had the C-5s landed, than a few pilots on the ground reported to command of an old, F-100 fighter flying over and scouting out their position. Although it was barely a speck in the sky to the untrained eyes, the 27th pilots were some of the best in the world, and could easily distingush it as a non-friendly, simply by it's demeanor in the air.

With the F-100 successful in reporting the landed troops, the North Defesian forces could now effectivly engage them.

A force consisting of 150 F-22 Rapters was launched, armed with 6× AIM-120 AMRAAM, 2× AIM-9 Sidewinder and a single 200 lb bomb, they had no doubt they would lay waste to the landed Falkasia force.
The planes increased speed to mach 2, engines screaming, they knew if they did not stem the tide of forces coming it, they would be too dug in to remove without the use of nuclear weapons.

Warner Kurtzman continued ordering the gutting of enemy tanks, and adding marks to his 'kill' record. The rising tank ace just barely had time to see the missile the Apache had launched arcing out of the sky.

Warner woke up a few days later in a medical tent, recovering from the burns on his face, arms, and torso, and nasty (though non-life-threatening) shrapnel wounds. In a stroke of luck, the missile had landed just short of the tank, thoroughly scouring its front and wounding him, but failing to do much else.

Meanwhile, Major General Knispel, the commander of the 44th and 47th's little sortie, was radioing in to Hohenzorn, asking for assistance.

"Commander?"

"Yes, Bernard?" Hohenzorn replied questioningly.

"We need reinforcement. There's more of them than we thought. We're holding our own, but if they keep throwing troops at us as insanely as they have been ('cause they've been going Commie on us), we're going to run out of ammo sooner or later. I'd like it if another division were sent to make things wrap up a little quicker."

"Understood. The 41st will be with you in a day or two."

"Good. I think we can hold 'till then. Knispel, out," he finished.

The abrahams were now only 3 minutes away, and they would arrive just in time, 15 more helicopters crashed down to earth, and 13 tanks were out of action.

The Valkyries continued to murderously press the attack, belching fire and smoke at any enemy tank dumb enough to try to stand their ground. A few more had been lost in the fighting, but it mattered little: an M-21A1 Valkyrie was superior even to the vaunted M-1 Abrahms. When commanded by men of the character and skill of Warner Kurtzman, they were absolutely murderous, and, unfortunately for the enemy, the Federal armour had many men like him.

The Howitzers continued spitting shells at enemy assault guns that attempted to pursue the infantry, even as the infantry dug in deeper around the artillery. SAMs continued being launched at the few remaining gunships, though in considerably lower volumes now.

With the SAMS distracted with the attacking helicopters, the B-52 Mitcheal finally made it to the fight, and opened its bomb bay doors in order to drop its 6,000 lb payload on the enemy armor.

IC:
As the 4th Armored Division entered the detection range of the artillery, the rearmost (and so, not engaged) howitzers began launching their first shells at the incoming tanks, and the armour of the 44th and 47th began going into reverse back towards their defensive positions.

As the B-52 entered radar range, five of the SAM launchers fired off quick successions of seven rockets each at the incoming bomber.

The artillary took out 3 of the tanks, and took out the treads on 2 others, but they continued their advance, and when they were in range, they unleased a single barrage of shells at the defending tanks. The B-52 was under heavy fire, but managed to drop its payload before being blasted out of the sky, the pilot was a huge fanatic, and tried to manuver his plane to crash into a nearby group of SAMs...

The M-21's took the first volley well, and even the bombs, while mildly disruptive and moderately damaging, didn't take a bad toll on the Federal Armour, who simply stood their ground as they reached the beginnings of their division's defenses and returned fire with their 140 mm guns, which were a good 20 mm heavier than the guns on the Abrams'.

The howitzers answered with a second volley, and the infantry opened up with RPG's and machineguns, in an attempt to disrupt the enemy's advancing order. The SAM's fired a few more rockets at the much easier targeted B-52 in an attempt to foil the suicide dive.

The M-21A1's, howitzers (both now loading anti-tank rounds as well) continued pouring a murderous rate of fire on the Abrams'.

Regardless, as night fell, General Knispel was getting tired of waiting. He sent a notification to the 41st Armoured to pull back-they weren't needed.

Because of the simple fact that he and his men were better off than the enemy, and the enemy had fortified on a hill top, it would be so easy to break out (with >200 tanks, you either fortify the hilltop to death, or you spread yourselves very thin trying to cordone me off. Either way, its easy for 2 divisions to break out of.) One mass shell-and-rocket, then run right past them, seeing as both divisions were entirely mechanized.

So that's what they did. A single massive bombardment as the forces began moving out, and they slipped past the enemy. Before they really did run out of ammo.

"I tell ya, although this place may be a war-torn hellhole, it's got a nice climate." the smoker said. "What is it right now, 70 degrees? Just beautiful."

"Yeah." the other soldier replied.

And also, ND, how do you always have some sort of satellite or UAV or recon flight overhead to locate everybody's position. On top of that, I hate to burst your bubble and prevent an attack on myself, which I'd more than happily engage in, but the SD airfield my men are stationed at is deep within the country, well behind enemy lines. You'd have to go through layer upon layer of air defense, SAMs, Interceptors, and the like. You'd be lucky to have a bare few planes by the time you arrived at the airfield. However, if you planned to account for this in another post possibly, please say so.

FALKSAT Command
A large, red siren screamed throughout the bunker in FALKSAT signalling an impending nuclear launch. Satellite bank Defender had detected from low-Earth orbit what appeared to be a ballistic missile on an impact trajectory with Fanboy forces. Although it was originally disregarded as some sort of Air-to-Air missile or something of the like, it was eventually confirmed after further and mroe extensive evaulation of the data. The Commander on duty, a Cmdr. Leonid Tarasov, quickly ran over the information with his aides.
"Alright, so what have we got here," he asked in his usually scarily calm and almost metallic voice.
"Well sir, as you can plainly see..." The aide put a manila document folder in front of him, with pictures of the launch silo, and of the missile itself. "This missile was launched no doubt by the North Defese forces, and I recommend a full defensive strike upon the missile itself."
"Alright, any other suggestions?"
The whole room was silent, save for the sound of a few crickets in the background.
"Then what the hell are you guys waiting for? Give the order to fire!"
======

High up in space, Satellite Bank Defender waited idly as it's trackers continued to follow the approaching missile. It took only a nanosecond for the signal to be sent, and once it arrived, the bank sprung into action like a well-oiled machine. In one swift and eeriely robotic movement, each of the 500 or so satellites shifted itself to target the missile directly while the computers inside made all the necessary calculations to ensure a direct hit. If sound could have been heard in space, a kind of gurgling sound would ahve echoed across it's vast cosmos as the lasers built up to project their powerful beams onto the metal casing of the warhead. Then, in the blink of an eye, the satellites discharged each of their 2000 lasers upon the missile, each slashing through the atmosphere like a hot needle. In an instant, the missile's outer casing heated up to temperatures well past that of the sun, instantly vaporizing a good portion of the electronics inside, as well as the nuclear material itself. Now, all the missile had to do was impact the earth, and wedge itself deep into it.

"Any of our forces in the area?" Gen. Anderson inquired.

"No, thankfully."

Little did the Holy Paradisian forces know that a large bomber squadron of ND's was headed their way.

When they were only a short distance away, she fired 3 shots, shouting "Dont come any closer!" in Defesian.

"So what are going to do about this nuke?" Adm. Brown asked.

"I don't know, but I do know..." Gen. Anderson answered when suddenly there was a large explosion nearby. A number of screams could be heard as soldiers were flung into the air.

"Shit, they're attacking, get down!" Gen. Anderson yelled as more explosions ripped up the camp. The general grabbed a radio and yelled, "We need planes, tons of them, right at the main camp! We're getting bombed, we don't know how many, just get fucking planes here now!"

Off the coast of South Defese, about 20 miles away, airmen scrambled to their jets as planes were quickly fueled and prepared for take-off.

Back at the main camp, the radio buzzed, "The jets will be there in about 20 minutes."

"Thank you, I just hope we last that long." The general replied. He then ordered, "We gotta get to the bunkers. They're about 3 miles south of here. Everybody run!"

The general's order was transmitted throughout the camp as soldiers picked up their guns. A few mobile AA guns that had been set up in the camp fired into the night sky, using the light of the explosions to aim with.

The 44th and 47th Armoured Divisions had been on the move for almost an hour now. Things had so far been...uneventful. The enemies they had bypassed had been completely incompetent, and by now General Knispel was pretty sure they had gotten away scot-free. Positive.

At least, until he saw the mushroom cloud forming on the horizon.

"Oh shit!" he had time to say before the wind (the "gust front") of the blast knocked him flat on his back and the shock waves began sending the rear of the convoy/unit into total dismay. He must have hit his head pretty hard, because he blacked out.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Knispel and Captain Kurtzman woke-up simultaneously, in a med tent. It had been roughly a day and a half since the nuke had fallen. About 12,000 infantry were either dead, MIA, or in critical condition. 46 tanks, 14 howitzers, and 34 rocket artillery had also been damaged in the blast, though most were still at varying levels of being operable, or at least reparable. All the same, they had sat there for a day and a half.

"What the fuck---" Knispel began.
"They nuked us. Don't know what the motherfucker was thinking, but they decided to nuke us, apparently within their own borders. Idiots," a Sergent standing guard replied as a medic changed the bandage on his head.
"But what the fuck--" Knispel began again.
"Beats me, General. Guess the ol' Chancellor went bonkers after we trashed most of his armor," the sergeant stated again, cutting off the General and seriously breaching military protocol, though Knispel didn't particularly care at this point.
"But what the---"
"They didn't know we had broken out, if that's what you're wondering. It's only because we broke out that we're still alive. If we hadn't the entire unit would be radioactive plate glass now."
The General finally pulled himself together.
"Alright," he started, getting up. "Let's get this show on the road then. What's still operable?"
A staff sergent who was walking in saluted and, jumping into his role, replied "Most everything. Unfortunately, we lost most of our extra ammunition and a lot of food and fuel."
Ammo. The thought rose unbidden in Knispel's head. Is this God's idea of a cruel joke? he wondered, thinking back to his earlier thoughts about the enemy's primitive tactics.
"Well, in that case, lets get our asses in gear and haul ass back to base. We can't fight any more battles now. Who's still alive as far as officers go?"
"Most of our tank commanders survived, sir, most of the regimental commanders, and a good number of the company and battalion commanders. But we still lost a lot of company commanders. Hell, we lost a lot of companies, and even a few full battalions."
Mary, mother of God, Knispel thought angrily. I'm going to chop that goddamn chancellor's head off with my own goddamn axe, and wash my hands in his fucking filthy blood. But he kept his thoughts to himself and instead said: "How far are we from the blast zone?"
"We moved a hundred miles upwind to be out of fallout range. We should be good for that."
"Who's territory are we in?"
"We're right on the border. But still on the Northern side."
"Great. Just fucking peachy! Get everyone who's still functioning back to work and load up the critically wounded, and for God's sake get me on a line with Field Marshal Hohenzorn!"
"Yessir," answered the staff sergeant, pulling out a radio and turning it to the Federal Army wavelength. "The EMP from the nuke fried a good number of radios, but we've got a good number still functioning. We destroyed the non-functional ones to keep the enemy from finding them and getting anything useful off 'em, cause I don't think we really want to carry 'em along."
The general took the radio and spoke into it. "Hello, is this Field Marshal Hohenzorn? Sir?"
The Field Marshal replied: "Yes, General, it is. Are you all alright? Recon and intelligence from friendly forces told that there had been a nuclear strike in your vicinity."
The general took a deep breath. "Well, sir, it was aimed at us. Excused my French, but the rear of the unit is totally F.U.B.A.R., sir."
There was an intake of breath on the other side. "Oh fuck," the Field Marshal exclaimed suddenly. "When we catch that sonofabitch Chancellor, I'm going to ram my marshal's baton so far up his ass that it'll fuck with his goddamn brain, or whatever there is of it!" Hohenzorn paused, and seemed to regain his composure. "What can we send you that can help at this point?"
"Mostly shell the living shit out of 'em and draw attention away from us so we can make a clean escape back to friendly territory, sir."
"Will do. And when you get back, I'm decorating every last one of your men, as much as The General (OOC: Grimmeberger) will fucking let me. If they're still obeying orders, they are some tough, and composed motherfuckers. And they deserve it that much more in that case." He paused again. "Now, get out of there and fuck up some Defesians if you can while your at it."
"Ja, Herr Feldmarschal" Knispel replied in the two officer's native German.

The general turned to the tank ace on the bed next to him. He was apparently improving from the burns. "Hauptsturmfurher(OOC: captain)...Kurtzman, is it? Tank commander?"
The tank ace looked surprised that the general spoke German as well (though most of the 44th was, in fact, recruited from Germany, Holstein to be exact), and surprise registered in his icy blue eyes. "Ja, Herr Generaloberst. That is correct," he added in English.
"Good. I need you to lead what's left of our armor. If anyone objects, tell them to take it up with me. I'll invoke the General's authority on 'em if the refuse." Kurtzman winced at the last statement. The "General's authority" generally meant whoever was on the receiving end was in for serious disciplining, demotion, or, depending on the case, execution."
"Yessir. I'll get to it, sir!" and with that, Captain Kurtzman exited the tent to take command of the armor.

OOC: I have my radio set up, finally, lol.

In the small radio tent next to the main terminal, the 27th's flight lead sent out a general announcement, heavily encrypted on a small laptop computer conected to the radio. It was an undistinguishable sound of beeps, that would play 5 times over at 2 minute intervals. It was, in a sense, a suped up version of Morse Code. That way, they could alert everybody in the area of their presence, and yet only those allied with SD would be sent the encryption key to decode the messages. It was a somewhat brilliant plan in a sense, but it still came with it's problems. All keys were too be destroyed immediately as they arrived, committed to memory as quickly as possible. Keys were also rotated daily with a 3-word confirmation code to ensure that it was in fact an ally.

The message, once decoded, read as follows:

All Nations Allied With South Defese;
Falkasian 27th Deployed Within SD Territory;
Requesting Combat Sorties and CAS;
All Forces On Standby;
Over.

I'm the commander of the Gordonopian naval air wing. Our forces are glad to know that we have another ally in the area. It would be a great help if you could act as an intercepting force for North Defese aircraft. "Sir, I don't know what happened, but all of a sudden, everyone's forces seem to have jumped forward two days. ND is under heavy assault, and several nations have landed hundreds of thousands of troops sir. NIRTSATs are detecting nuclear detonations in both North and South Defese. Unknown launch points, unknown casualties. Communications from South Defese are limited, but it appears forces are gathering for an assault into North Defese."

"What in God's name happened Lieutenant?" roared Hilton, storming over furiously. "How can we miss TWO FUCKING DAYS worth of action?" He snatched his service pistol out of its holster, and shot Brown through the forehead, blood and gore spattering the monitor behind her.

"Someone clean that shit up, and get me a proper update. Recall the fleet, pull back to safe ground, weapons free on any hostile forces that come within a hundred miles of this ship." he yelled, storming out of the CIC.

Sir,

Yours,

Admiral Hilton,
CINCTHRD.

<RAF Wymouth>

Wymouth had recently been upgraded to hold the 19th Bomb Wing which was currently the alert squadron, kept fuelled and conventionally armed for attacks as required. With tanker support, they could reach the Defese theatre inside eight hours, but until then the Third Fleet would have to do their best to strike back to aid the North.

Half an hour after recieving the alert, the first four B-1G Spectre bombers leapt into the sky on trails of afterburners. The mainstay of the McLeodian bomber fleet, the B-1G was a big, stealthy aircraft capable of carrying 135,000 lbs of mixed ordnance at well over the speed of sound. The 19th alert force was made up of twelve full squadrons, totalling 144 bombers, plus their F-30 Charybdis escorts.

<HMS Elizabeth>

Rear Admiral McDonald found Hilton on the balcony that overlooked the carrier's flight deck. "Admiral, we tracked two downed birds on AWACS, and NIRTSAT revealed a force of what appear to be United Gordonopia vehicles heading through friendly territory. Its a clear enough hostile act sir. We also spotted what appears to be a hostile camp on the border, about a hundred miles from one of the nuclear detonations. We can't be sure who it is, but they don't look friendly, and don't belong to North Defese."

Hilton turned, blood spattered across his shirt, a near demonic look on his face. "Engage with cruise missiles. Scramble the alert birds. We are at war McDonald."

<Third Fleet, moments later>

Four ships were suddenly enveloped in clouds of white smoke as the first McLeodian shots of the war were fired. The four Leopard class guided-missiles cruisers, each built for long-range bombardment, fired off a salvo of ninety-six Nightwind cruise-missiles. One ship targetted the United Gordonopia convey, the other three co-ordinated their fire to strike the unknown hostile (OOC:Fanboy) camp.
