OFFICIAL DECLARATION OF WAR
IMPERIAL WAR COMMISSION

To: The Nation of Commorostan

The Empire of The Philippiniada, after numerous insults and accusations by your government. has grown tired and decided that this couldn't be settled with simple diplomatic proceedings. therefore. The President of the Philippiniada has signed IMPERIAL GENERAL DECREE NO. 2341 that legalizes military action against the Commorostan Government. and let it be known as of today. A state of war now exists between the Empire and the Government of Commorostan.

The Empire is open for peace talks, to avoid a devastating conflict. but if the Commorostan continue to press their claims against us. We will have no choice but to defend our honor and valor and to fight against you.

To: The Nation of Philippiniada
From: Grand Duke Alexandr Kavinkov II

As allies of the sovereign nation of Comorostan, we in Volzgrad hereby condemn The Philippiniada for their reckless imperialism in this matter. We would also like to remind the government of Philippiniada that any hostility towards Comorostan will be met in kind by the Imperial Military of the Grand Duchy of Volzgrad. Any attempts to invade Comorostan or attack her citizens will not be tolerated by neither I nor other nations in the International Community! For now, Volzgrad will support any peace talks that take place. However, if peace cannot be brought diplomatically, then we shall bring it with the sword.

Half a million Imperial Soldiers began mobilizing and War Factories across the nation began operations again. News Agencies has headlines which covers the ongoing mobilization of the Imperial Armed Forces. The Imperial Royal Air Force test ran it's aircrafts and helicopters for full efficiency. Bunkers on the Commorostan-Empire Border has been fortified once again and entrenched it with landmines and trenches. Anti-tank barriers also were put in place plus a dozen more deathtraps for soldiers. A war like scenario which hasn't been seen on the Empire since the Great Civil War of 1986.

Cormorstan-Philippiniada Border

The Wolf Hold Peace Keepers were severly outnumbered, they formed a thin grey jacketed line along the border, ocuppying several towns. Red cross units as well patrolled up and down the border broadcasting to both sides to cease hostitlites. However the 3rd Wolf's Marshall knew their was no hope of stoping the hostilities if they continued. He walked outside of his tent and observed the chaos at the temporary airstrip that had been set up to house the WHPKTF. The Wolf Hold Marines in their peackepping uniforms of jungle Camo with light grey flakvests and helemets, peacekeepr emblazened across its back and front. You could also make out the Red Cross men and women with their bright white landrovers and white flackjackets, it would never hold agaisnt a concerted assault.

-Honorable President Eden Calls for the immediate withdrawl of Wolf Hold and any other nation's peacekeepers in Comorostan and Philippiniada, for there is no peace left to keep,as war has been declared and their presence only risks escalating this conflict by drawing more nations into the brawl. The best course of action is to let the nations involved settle the matter themselves. The peacekeepers should pick a side to fight with or depart and limit their intervention to diplomacy only if they truly want peace.
-In addition President Eden deployed the Second Combat Leigon(stats same as 1st) to Comorostan to assist our noble allies.

As had been planned secretly by the Heirosoloan Empire, once war was declared, the Heirosoloan force stationed on the border was transformed from a 'peacekeeping force' into a de facto invasion force intent on only holding the land they had, as well as slowly expanding into a forward outpost. Cargo Zeppelins began dropping off men and supplies, and haggard soldiers worked constantly to build on the defenses needed in a war zone. One might have thought that they went overboard, but it was seen as necessary.

First was the camp, which was greatly enlarged from a small set of randomly placed tents to a large set of 'rings' of tents, with designated walkways between tents. At each ring were two MG nests, the outermost ring having four MG nests as a defense. A hangar was also added, as well with a better made runway. After that were the remains of a wooden fence, now made into a waist-high concrete wall topped with barbed wire, newly made. Within the wall there were eight entries, at every direction. Next there was a combination of barbed wire and landmines, randomly placed but scattered thickly. After that was another half finished wall, taller this time, this wall designed to be about two and a half meters tall. After that were more land mines and more barbed wire, these defenses barely started. But it would still defend them if the time came.

SIC(No one can see this but me)

General Taniada has been working since this morning. Finalizing battle plans for the defense of the Empire.. The Defense of the Empire. No invasion will be started by the Empire. At least that's what he wants the International Community to think. After sending that false information to the Wolf Holdian People that they will likely interpret that a invasion of Comorostan will take place. Though there will be an operation... A shelling operation.

Captain Jaucian of the 1st Imperial Artillery Division has just arrived to the C&C Bunker. Which he saw for the first time. The Bunker was anything from pleasant. It was a fortified concrete bunker that is large enough to be the Communications Center of the entire operation. Though it is connected to underground tunnels. (In which the Empire constructed 20 Years ago shortly after the Great Civil War) Which can be used for evacuation. Captain Jaucian is there to see the General. First time he will meet him. A mix of excitement and intimidation is being felt by the officer. He saw General Taniada near the MG40 Nests inspecting it and then looking at his binoculars on the direction of Comorostan. The Captain approached him..

"Permission to talk, Sir!" The Captain said before letting of a snappy salute. The General looked friskily at the Captain. "Permission Granted, Captain Jaucian, right?"

"Yes sir of the 1st Imperial Artillery Regiment" The Captain replied with enthusiasm. "Just the man i wanted to see, Captain. Is your Corps ready for the initial operations?" The General asked.

"Sir. Yes, Sir. The whole Artillery Division is ready for the shelling of the Comorostan Border" The Captain eagerly answered "Commence shelling immediately, Captain"

"Affirmative, sir" The Captain then saluted and leaved the General staring at the direction of the Comorostani Border

A few minutes later. The Imperial Deathbringers is lined up and the men of the Imperial Army loaded it up with it's shells. One by one. It's guns began firing at the direction of the border. The roar of it's guns echoed to the corners of the C&C Bunker. That is the sounds of the signal. The men of all divisions currently stationed in the border get their acts together and prepared for the inevitable Comorostani counterattack. The artillery shells on the other side can be heard exploding as smoke began to build up inside Comorostan.

"Incomming! Get to cover! Move that ambulance!" The Marine colonel yelled before he himself was vaporised by a Philippiniadaian shell. The Peacekeeper barracks that was set up just on the border was taking increasingly heavy shelling. The local hospital went up in a ball of fire as its fuel storage was hit. Another 3 squads of Marines and a group of red cross workers were blown to tiny bits as they ran for shelter. The 3rd Wolf's Marshall was safe in the orbiting Mi-24 HIND "Damn it! We knew this would happen! These mens deaths are my fault!"

The Empire laughs at the mention of the "Filipinian Conscripts". There is no "conscripts" in the Imperial Army. The Jakratian Government should improve their Intelligence Gathering efforts, because if there is a joke in the International Scene. It's the Intelligence of the Jakratian Government... Looks like Intelligence and Jakratian just don't go together.

The Empire is urging Jakra to fight the Imperial Army. and we will see who is the first to flee the battlefield.

OOC: I apologize for my forces' sudden appearance on the front, I'm not in the mood for a long winded "journey" post.

1200 Hours, Western Comorostan

Almost 30,000 Volzgradien soldiers were now marching toward the frontline on the Comorostani border. They had traveled for almost an entire week across the vast ocean separating Volzgrad from Comorostan to ensure the latter nation's continued survival. Now that the majority were on dry land, they could begin their mission to secure Comorostan and aid their Wolf Holdian allies already engaged in heavy combat on the border. While the Volzgradien force was rather humble compared to the size of the other nations' forces in the area, the 4th Guard Rifles Regiment and the 300th Siege Army were two of the most hardened and elite units in the Volzgradien military. Both had proven themselves greatly in the Battle for Blacktopia almost a decade eariler, and they were now hoping for a similarly astounding outcome here in Comorostan. Accompanying these troops were legions of tanks, transports, artillery, and heavy engineering vehicles to ensure that the Volzgradien line held no matter what was thrown at it. Comorostan was the perfect nation for the defensive, trench warfare oriented strategy of the Volzgradien Imperial Army. The Wolf's Hold and Comorostani forces had already dug in a great deal, so the Volzgradiens only had to do a minimum of actual digging.

"This is Senior Colonel Adrik Romanyov to all units, halt and take positions in areas marked A to G on your tac-map. Dig in, fortify, and do all that is necessary to ensure that your section of the line will hold in case of an attack. Colonel Romanyov, out." Growled the white haired Volzgradien field commander in charge of the defense of Western (?) Comorostan. He and his forces had been traveling for several day, often linking up with Comorostani and Wolf Holdian forces along the long road to the frontline. Now that they had arrived, it was time to assume their positions and wait for the inevitable attack. Thankfully, such a strategy was a Volzgradien forte. Trench warfare was the standard doctrine of the Volzgradien military, so such tedious operations were of little trouble, especially to elite units like the 4th and 300th.

Romanyov lowered his radio headset and stared at the clear, azure sky above him. He enjoyed looking at nature, it calmed him, not to mention it made his line of duty much less stressful. Several white birds drifted lazily above him, gliding on wings that looked like clear, Korvogradien snow on a sunny day in January. He sighed, and smiled slightly as he closed his eyes for a few moments.

"Colonel Romanyov! Colonel Romanyov!" An urgent voice yelled from beneath him.

Romanyov snapped out of his daydream and squeezed his way back into the command halftrack that he had been riding in. He glared at his comms-officer, the man who had yelled out, before checking the tactical display mounted on the far side of the halftracks drab brown interior. He quickly noticed the slow moving red markers that signified the location of several Wolf Holdian aircraft.

"What the hell is going on?" Romanyov asked, still annoyed by the previous interruption.

"We don't know yet sir, but it looks big. Looks like the Wolf Holdians pissed off a neighboring state," said the nearest adjutant, Alyushin, a lanky, blonde haired Drozdogradien who Romanyov didn't like much, "I think it's name is Jaffra or Jakra or something like that."

"Keep me informed then," Romanyov replied, smoothing the brim of his khaki coloured peaked cap, "I'm going to inspect the troops."

Romanyov gave a concise salute before he clambered out of the open rear ramp of the idling halftrack.

A pair of while helicopters with blue and gold stripes on them, as well as wings painted on, landed on the crude helicopter pad of the camp. As soon as it got near the ground, a small squad of men hopped off each one, each wearing a strange identical white combat suit, and each having a small badge with the same wing on it. As they got off, they conversed quietly to each other, and the younger soldiers at the camp looked with revere and awe at the soldiers. A couple more veteran soldiers trotted up to give them pats on the back, but quickly returned to building the defenses when their captain gave them a sharp look. The group of soldiers headed towards the large pavilion set up in the center, where one of the general's aides was waiting to meet them. They were quickly ushered inside one of the tents, and the aide looked suspiciously around before closing the flap of the tent. The Valkyries had come.

As the Wolf Hold F-15s closed in, the Comorostani SU-27s opened the afterburners and balsted back towards Eagle Airbase, their mission accomplsihed. One battery of Philippiniadan artillery neutralized for no losses. So far, so good.

OOC: Ok, this is basically GODMODDING. You are NOT suppose to tell what hit what. It's MY job to determine the losses and vise versa. Please read the stickies. i won't acknowledge this post's casualties...

The Empire quickly manned the Flak Traks and some Portable SAM's. The Imperial Scouts quickly contacted Minorian Airbase for possible reinforcements. The 1st and 2nd Interceptor Squads began liftoff immediately with the 1st Bomber Squadron guarded by the 3rd Interceptor Squadron. The two parties are separated in targets. The 1st and 2nd Interceptors began the defense of the Artillery Positions. The Imperial Centurion Fighters(F-22) and the Sukhoi-31 Fighters engaged the fighters in dog-to-dog combat. releasing Heat Seeking Air-to-Air Missiles. While Team 2 heads straight to Comorostan. upon arriving. They immediately targeted key infrastructures and strategic points in the nearest major city in the border (Can i get the list of your major cities?).

Meanwhile at the Ground. Things began to heat up as 10 Imperial Armored Divisions, 20 Imperial Infantry Divisions, and 5 Imperial SpecOps Divisions are being mobilized and being stacked up with supplies. Then thousands of Fresh Imperial Troops and Supplies just arrived and quickly began to unpack and arm themselves for battle. The Imperial Armored Divisions is being loaded with fresh oil. It's only a matter of time before the Operation begins...

Another division of the Imperial Artillery Division has just finished setting their Imperial Deathbringers and immediately began shelling the Comorostani Border in synchronized fashion. Hoping to soften up Comorostani positions along the border...

President Eden of Jakra has issued an open call for a cease-fire to resolve this conflict, before more foreign powers (OOC-the bloody CIS) join this conflict and escalate it to the degree of uncontrollable world war.

However until other nations endorse this cease-fire the Jakaran Forces will still fight as allies of Comorostan.

[OoC; Please go away CIS. See below. It's incredibly annoying when a whole alliance jumps in to invade one country, and it's a major thread killer. And btw, this is kind of land locked. Last time I checked, you need ocean for a navy >.<]
[Open Declaration]

If Philippiniada is so foolish to hide behind allies who utilize naval units in a land battle, then they will fall as well. Although it is against our new general direction, we unfortunately have been forced to temporarily defend the nation of Comorostan against this imbecilic aggressors. CIS, leave or be destroyed. This isn't your fight, an you won't get anything out of it. You aren't defending a nation, you're attacking one for little reason. Maybe if you gave us a reason we won't make this war hell for you. But I don't expect you will. You'll just point your filthy meddling fingers and pretend you have a purpose for being here. Prepare to die, filthy dogs. If it isn't clear enough, a state of war now exists between the fine state of Heirosoloa and any CIS nation that dares step foot in this war, or fire at our troops. This, by extension, means that a state of war exists between Heirosoloa and all of CIS. Have a nice day, you can continue to accomplish absolutely nothing now. May your seas be stormy and your honey poisoned and spat in. The Valkyries have come, and your death is upon you.

With love,

According to the Federal Security Force (FSF) the gunman was apprehended and is being detained, several other individuals were arrested as well, feeding rumors of a conspiracy.
Later the FSF revealed that the gunman was a Philippiniadan National who may or may not be working for their government. Dogfight
The Comorstani pilots knew they were outnumbered. The Wolf Hold attacks had tipped that balance in Philippiniada's favor permanently. And the ground assault meant this was only a drain on the Air Force. So the planes withdrew, leaving 7 SU-27s, 9 MiG-29s, and 6 MiG-31s shot down.

In Kambia
The beginning of the ground assault meant an air attack was imminent. And the city was ready. Every rooftop had a SAM (SA-10s) or a AA gun (S-60 or ZU-23) on it, and several street corners were occupied by ZSU-23-4 SP AA guns and SA-6 SP SAMs. If any aircraft got within range, it was in for hell.

On the Border
The battle began immediately. Comorostani troops had been digging in since the beginning of the crisis, and now it showed. The Comorostani lines held fast, but many units quickly began depleting ammo on the massive supply of targets. The 2S3 and BM-24 batteries switched targets from the Philippiniadan rear to the front line. The AA troopers, equipped almost entirely with SA-7 hand-held SAMs, fired at the helicopters as they passed overhead, as did the ZSU-23-4s and the SA-6s in each division. And ground control vectored in SU-24s and MiG-27 ground attack aircraft toward the major areas of advance.

ORBAT on the Border:

In the Skies
Comorostani aircraft gathered in force. The AWACS (Tu-126 'Moss') plane continued to direct MiG-31 squadrons towards the bomber stream.

OOC-where exactly are your bombers headed? and how far away are they?

The Interceptor Squads began to pursue the remaining Comorostani pilots. taking the field and clinching the first victory of the war in the name of the Empire. but they knew this was only the beginning. The first squads who saw action were given orders to RTB for refueling. As for the 10 Squadrons of Interceptors. They quickly speed to the Comorostani Border. arming their Air-to-Surface missiles. and aiming for the anti-tank batteries in the ground. and for heavy enemy concentrations.

A bomber squadron is then redirected from the original flight plan to bomb the Border defenses. they quickly aimed for the heavy enemy concentrations and strongpoints.

Meanwhile. The Imperial Army began to engage the Comorostani forces. Imperial troops open fired and the Imperial Main Battle tanks focused fire at the Anti-tank batteries. The Imperial Artillery Divisions that set shopped near the edge of the border of Comorostan began to rain down some more artillery in addition to those on the Empire side of the border. The FV101 Cattlebees began to open fire at enemy troops. slowly but surely they advance to the border. The Imperial Eagle Attack Helicopters open fired at the enemy tanks and enemy troops.

Wolf Hold Main Base

The Main Base was a site of chaos, the old peackeeping unifroms lay scatered on the ground everywhere. The used to be grey jacketed peackeepeers now wore the jet black and crimson uniform of the Wolf Hold Armed Forces. The 52nd Mechanised Divison, 4th Marine Divison, supported by the 10st SFG and 103rd Artillery were deploying out of the Main base that was located behind Comorostani lines (see earlier maps). The Armored Forces off the divisons had been reformed into Operational Combat Group 1.These forces were now losse in the Comorostani rear areas and their first attack was to hit Comorostani artillery firing on the main assault.

Meanwhile the rest of the force or Operational Combat Group 2 was accelerating towards the Comorostani capital, this force whilst much lightly armored had numbers and lots of infantry.

The several thousand troops were beginning to off load, and the first wave had already began setting up outside the city in the camps, and soon began to playing a myriad of Immortal Technique songs, all in their Spanish version. Coronel Juan Bermudaz was one of the first off of the air craft transport and headed straight to the command centre of the Comorostan (Comoreños) military, followed by his personnel guard of six troops, each equipped with an PPSh-41 and a Mosin Nagant, his preferred weapon which he trained with his men.

SIC:
The main infantryman in the unit was trained to hell in jungle warfare and static fighting was considered a last resort, but if ordered to stand ground they would simply continue to push harder and harder, flanking, pulling back, their strategy was "lucha de la serpiente". Each individual was raised and used to hard work and was equally conditioned to hot weather and bug bites from the most disgusting large moskitoes the world has seen. The training for the average man was a mix of Muy Thai and Brazilian dance fighting, much like the original gorillas that started the revolution that began their country.

Along with this primitive devotion to their national origin they also were each volunteers, as was necessary to be shipped overseas, but once entering the theatre the only way to exit was by order or a box. Surrender was not unknown to the troops, nor was retreat, but retreating was considered positioning to strike repeatedly, as stated in the military hand book memorized by every trooper.

The gun of the individual was originally designed by an American company, but the plans had been stolen and thus illegal production of the SLR-105A1 was in full swing and used by the majority of the infantry. It was a semi-automatic rifle modeled after the venerable AK-47, retaining the audacity of original, except increasing accuracy but decreasing raw fire power, but increasing kill probability and size of injuries due to the weapon.

The plan would be to break up the unit into eight to sixteen groups and insert themselves via foot behind the enemy, and when a full blown offensive was launched they would drive a wedge in their backs, and hope that their allies were competent enough to take advantage of the cease of momentum by the enemy, it was proven strategy to work when used with a skilled force, but it had yet to be seen if the Comoreños could be trusted with such a maneuver.

A new message appeared brightly on his tele-screen, one of the few advanced things that was possessed by his type of unit, but communication was understood as vital, even for the smaller groups. His image would be sent to the sender, if they had visual receptors on their computer or whatever platform they were using, if it was a simple radio that his voice would be heard just as well. "Well, first off we plan to be sending the weapons we're receiving to your personnel, seeing as we have no one certified to use those metal death traps. And secondly, what we need is a diversion so that our troops can sneak threw the jungle and be embedded in their rear, plus an up-to-date map, as our satellites are having some mechanical problems over this area. The Empire, recently learned that the guerrilla fighters known as the El Centro De Tierras troops. has been deployed in the battlefield. The Imperial Troops and even General Taniada laughed at the deployment. If the "elite jungle warriors" would even have a chance in a destroying a single tank of the Empire. but precautionary measures have been taken account. An division created solely on counterattacking this kind of threats. The Imperial SpecOps division. was deployed.

The Special Units of the Empire, The Imperial Black Guards.. Named after their black uniform and their black heart. This were recruited in the vast army reserves of the Empire. They were trained to resist Propaganda, Bribery, Torture, and even Death itself. With the extensive training. The "Black Officers Training Program" has a survivability rate of a mere 10%. They are trained SPECIALLY in countering many special units of the other nations. Armed with a reverse-engineered AN-90. The Imperial Black Guard is the first to use the mass-produced Imperial AH-21SB Assault Rifle. The most modern in the region. They are also equipped with Serdyukov SPS / SR-1 Pistol or the Imperial SD-1SPS Pistol with the capability to pierce armor and flesh alike. and with a razor sharp Imperial Knife.

The Imperial War Commission decided to send in 10 More SpecOps Divisions to support the Imperial War Effort. Tactics will now be used. With their Tactical and Military advantage over their smaller adversaries. Victory is assured.

"So, Andras, what's the day's list of emergencies?" The youthful Emperor of New Chalcedon sat opposite his Secretary - who was in all but name the Foreign Minister.

"No emergencies today, Majesty, but opportunities. The Empire of the Philippiniada has attacked Comorostan. The reason that it has taken so long to get here is the reason that Ambassador Mondara is now looking for another job. As you are aware, Majesty, the tensions between those two nations have been high for a while. However, only recently have they erupted into all-out conflict."

"Interesting, Andras. Why should we get involved?"

"Simple, my boy. Gratitude. Neither of them really wants to fight. If we can offer them a credible alternative, we can make friends here."

"Indeed. What do we have in the area?"

"Not all that much. The Grand Admiral is ready to brief you at the Octagon, however."

"Very well, Andras. I'll listen to Notaras and then see whether we have enough to make a difference. In the meantime, start drafting a communication to the involved parties."

"Aye, Majesty."

The short man looked up as his Emperor was announced. He wore the white uniform that marked a holder of the rank of Grand Admiral of the Imperial Navy, along with the aigulette design on the shoulder that denoted the Chief of Military Operations.

"So, Andras finally stopped yakking at you, I see. I take it you're here on account of that Phillipiniada/Comorostan affair."

"Please, Andronikous, some respect to your Emperor - at least in public."

"Indeed. Well the, to business. We don't have much in the area - just one light task force. The good news is that this task force is a joint Army/Navy force. We have 10,000 troops plus logistical and fire support on hand."

"Excellent. Thank you, Andronikous. I will inform you of what my decision is within twenty-four hours."

"Very good, Majesty."

The scent of power was strong in this room, as it was here that virtually all decisions affecting the Empire of New Chalcedon were finally made.

"With that in mind, ladies and gentlemen, I have decided that this situation is a terrible misunderstanding, and that the Empire should aid peacekeeping forces and work toward a negotiated solution. Are there any questions?" Far from being the abashed youth that he was in the Octagon or in the home of his ancient Secretary, here Michael Doukas-Palaiologos was very much in charge.

"None? Very well. Next item, please."

***OFFICAL COMMUNICATION FROM THE DESK OF HIS IMPERIAL MAJESTY***

To those Whom it may concern,

It has come to Our attention that a deplorable situation is occuring between two Nations for whom We have the highest regard, namely the Empire of the Phillipiniada and the Nation of Comorostan.

We find this situation to be unpleasant in the extreme, and are offering Our support to a ceasefire. Specifically, the land of Wolf Hold is to be congratulated for their attempts to prevent needless suffering and violence.

We offer Our capitol city, Constantinopolis Secundus, as a negotiations and discussion venue for representatives of both sides to seek peace on fair, just and honourable terms. In the meantime, the Imperial Armed Forces in the area will be co-ordinating alongside those of the Wolf Hold in an attempt to lower the intensity of the conflict.

Given under Our hand and seal,

Micahel Iastos Basilios Doukas-Paliologos

Emperor and Lord of New Chalcedon,
Sixth of his Imperial Name,
Grand Duke of Constantinopolis Secundus,

Imperial Carrier Empress Eirene, close to the war zone.

Commodore Iason Prentis was eager for a fight. Having been let down by the cowardice of one of his own captains in his most recent battle, he had been shuffled sideways whilst his colleagues had all been promoted.

So it was with considerable relief that he read the communique from the Octagon, informing him of the Empire's stance in the conflict nearby, and ordering him to liaise with the Wolf Hold's forces. It also gave him a frequency to hail them - presumably on their "open" channel.

He looked up from the paper, seeing the orderly activity on his bridge, then fixed his eyes on his communications officer.

"Sparks, I have a message for you to send on this frequency. Here's the frequency, and here's the message."

"Aye, Sir."

A few moments later, on the Wolf Hold's open military frequencies, the following message could be heard:

"Attention, Wolf Hold Forces. This is Commodore Iason Prentis of His Imperial Majesty's Navy of New Chalcedon. I have been directed to co-operate with your efforts to enforce a ceasefire in the conflict. If you are willing to accept my aid, please give me a secure channel to communicate over, and I will inform you of my taskforce's capabilities. Over".

OOC: I have been directed by the Phillipiniada to post my OrBat on the Ic thread. Here it is.

The Imperial order of battle (OrBat), fighting alongside the peacekeepers, will be as follows:

Naval:

1*modified Queen Elizabeth-class carrier (Empress Eirena), taskforce flagship
4*modifed Ticonderoga-class cruisers.
8 each of modified ANZAC-class frigates and 8 F100-class destroyers.
4*Type 212 conventional submarines.

In all, a fairly typical light task force for the Imperial Navy, as it is all that we could reasonably have in the area. Then the Army's ships:

2* Wasp-class amphibious assault vessels, configured for maximum troop load. Modified for slightly improved self-defense capabilities.
2* Cunard Line ocean liners, modified for troop carrying and deployment. (Bear in mind, QE2 carried 3,000 troops during the Falklands War.)
8* replenishment vessels, for extended operations. They carry missiles, ammunition, spare parts and consumables.

LAND FORCES:

1*Imperial Army battle group, with support corps. Broken down, this becomes:

- 51st Infantry Brigade. (4,000 infantry. Good training and leadership, excellent equipment. Overall, they are skilled and dedicated infantry, but not elite or the best in the field.)
- 116th Armoured Battalion. (24 Challenger-2 MBTs. The best in the world, IMO, and benefiting from extensive electronics refits.)
- 54th Artillery Battalion. (18 PzH-2000 155mm field artillery pieces. Again, top-of-the-line tech. Hey, what's the point of large military budgets if you don't got good equipment?).

Air units: 12*Eurofighter Typhoon (I have a soft spot for these - their maneuvrability is legendary) aboard each of the Wasp-class vessels, plus 48 aboard the carrier, for a total of 72 fighters.
24* Eurocopter Tiger (ARH variant), equipeed with a variety of loadouts.

As night fell upon the front lines, a set of night camouflaged cargo helicopters took to the skies near silently, putting brand new technology into use as they headed into Comorostan flying generally low as to stay unnoticed by any radar. Of course, in case any radar picked them up anyway, the helicopters were built to be near invisible to radars anyway. It would seem as if there was a malfunction and the radar was picking up imaginary objects. On board the helicopters, the Valkyries cleaned their weapons and adjusted their night suits. The elite soldiers murmured quietly to each other to pass the time as they headed into Comorostani territory to attack the nearest military base to strike a blow. A similar strike force would be sent out later to attack a Wolf Hold base to further to Heirosoloan control of the border, as well as strike a blow at an enemy. The helicopters hummed quietly, their deadly cargo ready to cause havoc.

Against Wolf Hold Forces
The advance from their base was met with more resistance than the air attack. Comorostani Mi-24 Hind attack helicopters unloaded rockets and missiles onto the Wolf Hold troops and the base, then landed troops.
The force moving against the rear was met by airstrikes from SU-24s and MiG-27s. Units of Battlegroup Reserve (ORBAT: Three Mechanized, two armored divisions) moved to counter.
Against Bomber Force
Five full squadrons (40 aircraft) of MiG-31s approached the bomber stream. They fired off long range ASMs at the bombers, then moved to engage with cannon and short-range missiles

Gen. Cyrano Jones was Comorstan's top commander. He had directed the military response against the Hijim uprising, now he was commanding the nation's response to the Philippiniadan invasion. An invasion that never should have happened he thought. It had been a stupid reason to start a war; two MiG-31s shot down over what seemed to be a misunderstanding. But that fool Akos had to turn into a full-blown g*dd*m war As he looked over the war map, the situation wasn't good. The Philippiniadans were close to breaking through in some points, and the Wolf Hold's betrayal had meant now there was another front to manage. Something has to be done. Imperial Carrier Empress Eirene, close to the war zone.

Whilst he was waiting for a response from the Wolf Hold forces, Commodore Prentis had set his staff to monitoring the situation.

And they had a surprise. Apparently, Wolf Hold had abandoned its stated position of neutrality and had instead sided with the Phillipiniadan Empire in the war. Which set the Commodore's orders to naught.

"Sparks, get me a link to the capital. Advise them of these developments and ask for instructions."

"Aye, Sir." A voice broke Prentis' chain of thought - it was Tactical. "Sir, missile launch. Trajectory analysis indicates that it's heading toward Phillipiniada. Should we do anything?"

"Negative, Guns. Let's not interfere until we know more. Besides, the Comorans need a little good luck. Let's not rain on their parade. Inform Captain Aversham that I want two squadrons of Typhoons in the air at all times - this could get very nasty with very little warning. And deploy the pods in stage-two readiness."

"Commodore" - the short Sailing Master, Averika Konudule, spoke up, her voice carefully neutral - "Regulations require me to inform you that your orders may constitute an escalation of the situation in the eyes of the combatants, and as such a violation of our orders."

"Noted. Yeoman, log the Sailing Master's warning. And note that I assume full responsibility." Commodore Iason Prentis' voice was just as carefully neutral, but his eyes didn't flinch.

"Aye, Sir."

Aboard the Empress Eirena, preparations were made. Half of the four squadrons of top-line fighters were prepped for launch, and tails of fire soon marked their departure from the deck, whilst astern of the carrier and her cruiser consorts, hatches opened in the hulls of the ships. Ungainly lumps of alloy deployed from these, to follow in the water like ugly ducklings following their mothers, tethered by strong cables.

The Crew of the SS-23 Spider site( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SS-23) rarely had visitors, being the crew of a hidden balistic missle launcher (in a secret garage) didn't exactly bring alot of visitors like base life did. But tonight something was wrong it started with a convoy of a cargo truck and 2 TTS escorts arriving and a rude Captain who damand that they prepare for launch. At first it looked like an excercise, so launch procedures were begun, but then instead of a dummy warhead being loaded into the missle the new arrivals bolted on a live A-61 warhead (modified for missle use). The captain's men took over from their claiming that command had authorized the launch due to the dire situation, at first I thought it was legit since they had authorization codes, then i noticed neither the Captain or his men were from the Strategic Defense Force, but they were infantry from the Minister's (of defense) personal battalion!

"Colonel, we don't have any forests near enough to be helpful. However, the border is mountainous, which may or as good for your purposes. We will attach to your command three units of SWORD teams. They're trained in this sort of warfare. The air is contested, so expect little support there. We can provide naval support in the form of cruise missile strikes."

It was President eden's first time being out of anastesia since the attack, and frankly he felt like shit. Both wounds still ached horribly, whoever had made his bulltproof vest would get a medal, it slowed the assasin's bullet enough to keep it from being fatal. As he looked around he noticed Home Security Minister Gerros sitting next to him, as Eden looked at him Gerros sat up to make his announcement "Sir" he began "yes" replied Eden, "Well sir we have a problem with General Polatski (minister of defense) " Well what is it?" inquired Eden, curiosity filling his face. "well sir it involves the Spiders under the carpet" Eden's face filled with shock as he heard this, " So what about them" he asked. "Well sir, Polatski gave them their fangs" Eden's face went pale as a ghost as he screamed "WHAT!!!"

"Well if you can do that you should try to slow down the Holdo infantry long enough where your cruise missiles can annihilate their armor, and from there the infantry would be a breeze. Either way we'll start mobilizing our forces, how many troops are in your SWORD teams, and what equipment do they have? Additionally I'll be calling in for that armored regiment to be called up. Either way hold out. We need a few hundred cars by sundown, and once its pitch black we'll start our movement to the northern regions of the border. I'll be maintaining my base here along with my HQ attachment and an infantry company. If you can hold out for a week we may be able to get division strength in this theatre, but if your men crack I can almost guarantee my government won't send any more troops."

Col. Adams (Spider site commander) called the 2 other officers on site together in his office, they discussed the evening's abnormalities and made a firm decision. It would make them traitors or heroes but they had to hope for the best. while the Minister's troops amed and readied the missle Adams' men and the site's guard detail (all SDF) quitely went to the arsenal and armed themselves, then with the minister's troops totally absorbed in their work Adam's men pounced incapacitaing the soldiers before they could react. After the infantry were secured in a storeroom Adam's men began to disarm the missle and radio command for instructions there they learned of Poltski's plan and felt at ease knowing they were heroes.

General Poltski cursed to himself, the plan was so simple yet had failed so epically, instead of the four A-61 warheads being launched by his men the crews at the of the four sites had disabled his men and the warheads and worse yet Gerros had awoken Eden which surely doomed his plot to launch the nukes and make himself the only capable person of ruling, with Eden supposed to be dead from that terrorist fool and Gerros supposed to be his lapdog the plan was perfect. Until that terrorist missed Eden's big stupid head! Ah well, he had one spider site left on his side and one nuke would be enough to start a full scale war, declare Eden and gerros responsible and then take the reins of power as the people's hero saving them from Eden the tyrant. He he he, he chuckled to himself as he leaned back and drank his scotch. It wouldn't be long now.

The sun had finally went down and the troops began to head out on their vehicles all of mixed origin and model, their counter-parts of the SWORD team were ordered to maintain a vanguard position, being constituted of heavier armor. Coronel Bermudaz did not like turning his men into mountain warriors, but he was sent here to command his troops to victory and to be an adviser to the Comoreños military, and he would do his best to complete both jobs as well as he considered humanly possible. "Alright, I need an estimate on all the armored assets, aircraft and trained manpower you currently have available, A.S.A.P. Along with that our government has allowed another independent brigade along with an additional armored regiment, and they're still debating on an Air Superiority Wing, comprised of an estimated 20-30 Su-27 fighters, with an attached Air Bomber Section of six Su-34 fighter/bombers. The ground units are expected to land and be organized within a weak, meanwhile we will be launching counter-attacking maneuvers in the northern part of border. Keep our involvement secret, and if word of us gets out maintain that we are all standard troopers doing their duty to their country, it'll be good for propaganda."

Meanwhile the convoy of trucks was being led by Teniente Coronel Maxwell Hernandez, and his orders were to reach the base before night fall, which was successful, and once there begin to conceal their position. Sixteen caves had been found that which all combined could hold the armored assets of the SWORD teams along with an additional one thousand two hundred sixty-eight troops, the rest were forced to begin erecting camouflaged shelters, which would fool the satellites and eyes sight from a far distance. The caves were ordered to prepare for deployment by night fall of the next morning, but as for now the camouflaged shelters would be completed before dawn and the men's positions would be concealed.

While their would be a public trial for poltski to silence any of his allies or supporters, Eden knew that in a few weeks he and Gerros would be on the firing squad which put that dog poltski out of his misery once and for all. Now if he could solve this damn war all his problems would go away.

"Its not going well," he replied. "Obviously. But what do you think about the war in general? Is it really necessary?" Col. Serei paused. "No, General. Bermudaz had his most recent orders over to his men occupying one of the northern mountains, which was now under the designation of M-001, he revealed that the .213ª Regimiento-de-Caballería-Pesada had just been completely offloaded and they were beginning to form up, along with several other units that would be new additions to the force, he also added that under the cover of darkness they were to set up their heavier weapons on the eastern side of M-001, from there two battalions would hold position, along with several members of the SWORD teams that were manning the BTR-90 IFVs. Another battalion, with the remainder of the SWORD teams attached with mortars would move out at night and head for any brush that would shield them from enemy satellites.

---

Comandante Juan Fernando was the man in charge of the battalion that was moving out. His troops didn't dye their uniform gray or brown like the men that were staying in the mountain, and maintained the green color from when they had originally landed. As of now it was pitch black, around 00:00 they had been walking for three hours and Fernando had finally identified a spot viable for use as cover from the optics of an infantrymen or that of the satellites. He motioned his hand, left to right, and within a minute the signal was passed silently threw out the ranks.

Fernando led his troops in, numbering just a bit under a thousand men. As they entered this small bit of large foliage he ordered the SWORD teams to begin setting up the mortars, and after that set up of a camouflaged ring that utilized their heavy PK machine guns and once done to send each team's leader to report to him. He turned to his troops and ordered them to begin setting up their POMV-2Ms into trap configurations around the outer-perimeter of the position, this was accompanied by TMN-46 AT mines along with several hundred MRUD AP claymores, each was recorded by the personnel who placed them and the co-ordinates were relayed to the commander, he was the only one who knew the exact location of the mines, and if they needed to move out he could have every single un-used mine uprooted and ready to be re-deployed.

Fernando's last two orders was to set up zones of watching, instead of patrols and that there would be a hundred a fifty men on guard around the entire brush that they were in, and that the men would switch every half hour to hour depending upon the platoon CO. His final order was to send Cabo Pablo Ricardo, designated marksmen for .11ª platoon, out and to attack any COs he could see, but he was postponed until tomorrow night as it was far too close to sun-up.

It was night again, and the men on the hill were watching the battle progress below them as the Comoreños were being attacked by a sizable force, they were itching for a fight, but the government-issued marijuana kept them a bit calmer, but they were still excited. None-the-less work had to be done and the men got ready to position the boulders that were to be dropped, and more importantly they were putting them into inconspicuous positions where they could be though of us a natural formation of the mountain.

Around the mountain the men had abandoned their shelters and all had a comfortable position in the cave, wherein they relaxed with the help of cigarettes and marijuana, each not being allowed outside of the cave as the bright spark would easily give away that individual's position, and thus compromise the entire unit. The men had their AT mines positioned up the few passages ways that would allot the enemy's armored units to pass threw, being sporadic at or near the base and slowly increasing in intensity. The MRUDs were positioned threw the passes that would allow infantry, although not every position could be covered the majority were.

The reports were also filling in about the infantry and armored brigades arriving and being formed up already, though these were not in complete truth the first infantry and armored regiment were in the combat ready phase and were simply waiting for the second infantry brigade and the second armored regiment, which would finally be complimented by the attached air power, which had small rumors that the air power would come first.

Meanwhile back in Jungle Nest Alpha (JN1) as it was now designated by Fernando's men was holding out effectively, but the news from the satellite imaging had gotten threw from a high encrypted network and they were not promising. However, Fernando did have a good idea. "Trae en el Cabo Ricardo, rápidamente." He ordered to his XO Mendez.

Ricardo quickly arrived with his attached equipment which was mainly a PPSh-41 and his Dragunov. "Cabo Pablo Ricardo aquí, comandante!" The man reported to his CO. His beard was the product of being out in the field for long periods of time, without anything that could reflect the sunlight.

"Volver a la maestra de armas y obtener dos clipos rondas incendiarias, Cabo." Fernando ordered to Ricardo, which he quickly saluted and then left to complete the task. Several minutes later he was ordered back, with the proper equipment, and the proper setting, night time. "Ahora, vaya adoptar las incendiarias rondas, encontrar un lugar agradable a lo largo de la carretera y si ve una gran cisterna viene desde el oeste, golpe para arriba." The Coba saluted and left JN1.

As he left, he looked back and the men on watch waved from the prone position they were ordered to maintain while on guard. With his gun he went out, and in another hour he found the road, looking around he found a small hill that was connected to a large grass land that was on a slight elevation. He decided that would be his sniping position, but first he had to make a shelter in the more covered area.

After reading them, Commodore Prentis asked for a live mike to the conflict zone, relayed over all open frequencies by Imperial comsats. His voice soon went over the airwaves, with translations following in a variety of languages.

"Attention, combatants. This is Commodore Iason Prentis, of His Imperial Majesty's Navy of New Chalcedon. The Empire offers a neutral meeting-place for talks, with all appropriate safeguards guaranteed by the Empire. I have been directed to inform all forces that the Emperor is receiving regular briefings, and has not yet decided whom to support in the event of Imperial intervention. I have been further directed to advise all combatant factions and nations that co-operation with the Empire's request for a ceasefire and peace talks in an attempt to prevent further bloodshed will weigh heavily in the favour of the co-operating nations. Immediately after cutting the live transmission, the Commodore gave orders for heightened alertness - no telling who would take offence at his statement.

Commodore Prentis looked askance at the text of the Phillipiniadan transmission, then gave the signal for a live mike on the frequncy the Phillipiniadans had used. He spoke in a carefully neutral tone, but was clearly unimpressed with the tone of the Philippiniadans' message.

"General Taniada, be aware that the Empire is not holding peace talks with the intention of enforcing a pre-determined outcome. If you have demands for the Comorostani people, then I suggest you present them at the talks themselves. We will contact you once we have a response from Comorostan. Imperial taskforce out."

Switching to the Wolf Hold frequency:

"Marshal Gillam, be advised that the Phillipiniadan Empire is willing to hold peace talks with Comorostan. Once we have received Comorostan's decision on this matter, we will contact you regarding the time, place and security arrangements. Commodore Prentis out."

Premier Akos received the message of the peace talks. He pushed the button to transmit back to the carrier. "This is Premier Akos. You and your "peace" can go to-" he didn't finish his sentence. General Cyrano Jones barged in, flanked by two SWORD agents. "What the hell do you think you are doing?" "The right thing," Gen. Jones replied. The SWORD agents aimed their AKS-107s at Akos. "In the name of the people of Comorostan, you are hereby removed from power." The SWORD agents hustled Akos out of the room. Gen. Jones sat down, and turned to the phone. "This is Gen. Jones, in charge of the provisional government of Comorostan. We are willing to negotiate."

Well, well. Interesting..... was Iason Prentis' first thought.

"Very well, General Jones. Congratulations on your promotion: I hope that you will prove to be a skilled leader for your nation. Both the Philippiniadans and the Wolf Hold have agreed to peace talks, which means that we have a full tally, I would say. If you will tune your radios to a frequency of 107.85 MHz, we will instruct all parties simultaneously as to the location and security arrangements of the conference."

A few moments later, the message went out over the pre-arranged frequency:

"This is Michael Doukas-Palaiologos, Emperor of New Chalcedon. In order to show the Empire's good faith, I will personally chair the peace conference. It will be held on an otherwise-deserted island, at the following co-ordinates." A lat/long set of data followed, and after a pause, the Emperor resumed.

"I will arrive at the island in thrity-four hours. At the appropriate times, each nation may send their designated negotiator, plus two aides and two bodyguards, by helicopter. Each delegation may bring one recording device of their choice, in order to monitor the proceedings, as well as any body armour deemed necessary and one sidearm for each bodyguard. Each copter will be escorted by two Imperial helicopters from the task force, as well as twelve fighters. One important detail: a ceasefire will be considered to be in effect ten hours from this moment, a full day before the conference starts, in order to allow all nations to make decisions based on a stable situation."

"The island is currently under the physical control of the Empire - there is no way that any party has had access to tamper with the location. Any attempt to sabotage the conference, whether successful or otherwise, will result in the Empire punishing the offender, to the maximum of our ability. The Imperial Senate has agreed in advance to any terms that I deem fit to agree to as mediator; I urge all nations to similarly vest their delegates, in order to reduce the potential for stonewalling and obfuscation."

"It is my sincere hope that this conference will end a war that should never have begun, in peace, honour and friendship. Michael Doukas-Paliologos out."

The Marines Harriers flew regular CAP over the city and you couldn't go 5 minutes without seeing either an AH-64gunship or AH-1Z Super Cobra. The remainder of the mechanised infantry and the marines were dug in the plains and countryside next to the Capital. Finnaly Wolf Legion commandos were set up in the nearby towns ready to respond to any sign of unrest. The Capital and the nearby areas had effectivly been locked down by Wolf Hold forces. That lockdown would remain for as long as they were at war with Commorostan.

General Taniada, along with 10 Imperial Black Guards which was personally picked by him to accompany him to the Peace Talks at the islands. Temporarily the fighting has been stopped and he ordered all of his forces to hold their fires until further notice. As he was walking on the dusty steps of the bunker. He notices the complete change of scenery. An hour earlier, It was like a Monday Afternoon Rush Hour, Constant fuel loaded to Supply Trucks, Imperial Crusader Tanks refitted with more ammunition, and Imperial Troops being constantly driven off to Comorostan to fight a war. Now. He can see soldiers joking with each other, playing some checkers and cards, and eating adobo (Braised Chicken).

At the helipad. An Imperial Apache AH-60 Attack Helicopter landed. The General along with his bodyguards boarded that Helicopter. An Interceptor Squadron was also put on guard duty for the General. As his helicopter lifted off, He saw his soldiers saluting him in the ground and waving Filipinian Flags. A sign of bravery and unity. A sign of respect for the General. A sign that whatever the General has on mind, whether it's to continue fighting or continuing the peace. They would respect it.

He is very suspicious of this offer for being the "mediator" for a conflict they weren't even part of. But there is nothing he can do. The President has authorized him to do what is necessary. With the destruction of one Comorostani City. There is now a fear factor and the Empire could utilize it.

As the chopper landed. Dust begins to be breezed on the coastline. The General saw the Comorostani Diplomat... "What the... IS that a Comorostani?" The General wondered. The "Comorostani Diplomat" was different in looks from the other Comorostani he has seen before. This guy is more like from Mexico. The Imperial taskforce, small as it was relative to the forces deployed by the combatant nations, made for an impressive sight. As each nation's delegation approached the island, it received instructions to land on the carrier, where an inspection to verify compliance with the agreed-upon terms would be conducted.

Only two obstacles presented themselves, before the talks could begin. first, the guards of the delegate from Wolf Hold had firearms more powerful than permitted by the terms. This was resolved after a little tense negotiation, with all bar eight bullets being removed from each weapon, in order to prevent any full-automatic fire.

The second threatened to be more difficult. When the Phillipiniadan delegation arrived, Commodore Prentis brought it up regretfully.

"General Taniada, the terms of the talks permit you to bring only two bodyguards, and two aides to the talks. I trust that you will allow the remainder of your escorts to enjoy Imperial hospitality aboard the Empress Eirene for the duration of the talks?"

Negotiations Island

Commodore Prentis didn't have a problem with higher-powered weaponry - so long as it was left on the helicopters, which were currently on the flight deck of the Imperial carrier.

Each of the delegations had been cleared to proceed to the island save the Phillipiniadans', and the sight was impressive.

The small, barren, rocky island had been transformed (literally) overnight into an oasis of civilisation and beauty. The centrepiece was a large, irregularly shaped table, sheltered from wind and rain by brightly-painted canvas tent walls and overhangs, with a cutaway section giving access to the middle, where a young man sat, backed by two impassive guards. At each quadrant of the table, a person - fairly clearly an aide - sat ready to answer questions fielded by whichever delegation was closest to them. Over by each wall, an extensive array of refreshments was being carefully tended by the carrier's galley staff. The man in the centre spoke up in a deep, confident voice.

"Welcome, delegates. I am Michael Doukas-Palaiologos, Emperor of New Chalcedon and host of this conference. I hope that the matters which have led to this tragic war can be resolved in a just and honourable way."

Then he noticed the Phillipiniadan abscence, and leaned to one of his bodygaurds, whispering something. The guard made low-voiced enquiries and whispered back to his master.

"It appears that there is a minor techincal issue with the Phillipiniadan delegation. I'm sure that we all hope that the issue can be resolved swiftly. In the meantime, perhaps some refreshment while we wait?" The Emperor's expansive gesture led the eyes of the delegations to the tables set out, which he then rose and walked to.

Clearly, the talks were not starting until the un-named "issues" with the Phillipiniadans had been resolved.

Five Minutes Later

The rather stilted social affair came to a quick end with the arrival of the Phillipiniadan delegation. Michael had received advance notice of their arrival and placed himself back in his seat, from which he rose as General Taniada walked in with his two bodyguards and two aides.

"Thank you for trusting the Empire, General Taniada. I know that trust comes hard in wartime, and I hope that the Empire proves worthy of yours. In the meantime, shall we get started on ending this war?"
