Island Hoppers (Open, MT)
The Invaders Have Won a Decisive Victory!!!
Intro
The Derbarian war machine, neighbor of Max Beagle and Dashie, is hammering through the island nation of Blacktopia. The war originated merely 5 days ago, when the Derbarians went on a quest for territory along the Blue Sea, looking for natural resources. Blacktopia, renowned for its black beaches, but less than adequate military, was taken completely by surprise, and further shocked by the fall of their capital.
The Blacktopian President was on the run, and made it to Markosa, dodging artillery fire and airraids. As a response, Blacktopians sent 10 jet fighters to attack a Derbarian aircraft carrier off of the West coast. All 10 of these fighters were never seen again.
Governments
Derbarian - Communist
Blacktopian - Democratic
Why to join each side
Derbarian side - Blacktopia has profitable natural resources, and you get to blast Capitalist pigs.
Blacktopian - To defend from the evil Commies, and protect the oil trade.
Blacktopian Resources
Oil - Within Pretopia, South of Markosa, on the outskirts of all sides of Lunarosa
Diamonds and Gold - Pretty much everywhere, but the more territory you control, the more you can get
Coffee - Lunarosa, and on the coast of Lunarosa
Others, if I think of them, or if they become important to the story, but these are the main ones
------------
Rules - Read First Before Posting
1 - To begin, just make a post here, stating your intent to attack/defend Blacktopia, and maybe describe your army, or other details if you like. You have to wait 1 hr in real time before even having your troops near Blacktopia after they depart your homeland.
2 - Nonsensical and strategical blunders, like paratrooping soldiers in the middle of behind enemy lines, means that you will probably have to RP a slaughter on your side.
3 - I don't care which side wins, so RP strategically.
4 - I will control Blacktopia and the Derbarians.
5 - You are limited to 1,000,000 troops, and they can't all come at once. lol. Just think about that. Invasion of the sardines.
6 - Blacktopia is about the size of a very large island, I would say: picture Iraq as an island.
7 - Snarky, racist, or mean comments will get you a warning for the first offense, and then an ignore from this thread.
8 - You ABSOLUTELY must have enough of a military budget to participate in this RP. If you are a size 10 million nation, see me before you post here about other roles, or ask another nation to ally with them. Check nationstates trackers for this (search on Google).
9 - Conventional Weapons only. No nukes or gas attacks. You can, however, use missiles, napalm, etc.
With that being said, let's get this going!

A New Era
This was a new era. With the collapse of the Dashie civilization, essentially, and Max Beagle soldiers getting in daily firefights with anti-government militiamen, Derbaria had become much more powerful in the region. With a military unchecked, Derbarian forces grew in mere months, and soon became a deadly force to be reckoned with. Now, with new M1A1 Abrams Tanks, and trained infantrymen and marines, forces were ready to go mobile. They did just that.
Within months of being, as the Derbarian called it, "Combat ready," Derbarian forces began setting their sights on the island of Blacktopia. Relations with Derbaria were already bad with the island, but Derbaria did not have the capability to launch an invasion of that magnitude. Now that they did, blood would soon fly.
--------------
"Get to the shoreliiiine!" yelled a soldier, as he waded in the dark, enraged waters of the Blacktopian coast. Bullets were whizzing all around this sergeant, and the sounds of rounds stirking human flesh was constanly audible.
Artillery rounds struck around the sergeant, with rockets and mortars crashing against the rocky beaches. The mission was to first make it to the beach, which the Derbarians were having a hard time doing, and then create an entry path for friendly tanks to get through. The beach invasion, which was occuring on the East and West sides of Blacktopia, cost the lives of 1000 Derbarian men, and 750 Blacktopians. However, Blacktopians were surprised, and Derbarians drove right through them, through the capital, and to the heart of Blacktopia within days. Now that the suprise was over, it was time for the Blacktopians to fight back.

I would like in.
The Front Range Republic intends to defend the Blacktopians from communist aggression.
Strategic question: You say that Blacktopia is an island nation. How dependent on supply lines from their homeland are the communists?
I intend to be sending two carrier battlegroups, operating as a single unit:
2xCVN (SNS John Patrick Ryan, SNS Reuben James)
4xCGN
12xDDGN
8xFFN
12xSSN
Once it becomes logistically feasible I intend to also send a reinforced Marine division (~24,000 men) and the necessary landing and fire support elements.
Shavanese equipment and personnel are all at world class levels. I have a military budget of better than $3 trillion, and I spend mostly for quality over quantity.
Is all this acceptable?

Very dependent. The island is somewhat close to them, but cutting off supply lines could be fatal. You would just have to battle the Derbarian navy, which is mediocre in size and capability.

Perfect. Consider this the departure time for my naval task force, heading for the war zone.
Strategic Questions:
Can you give me more detail on the Derbarian Navy?
Is the sea supply line long enough that I can get at it without letting the Derbarian land based air power get a shot at me? If not, how powerful is their air force?
How well defended are the ports of the Debarian homeland? I may bomb them if I think I can get away with it.

Press Release from President Cloud:
Mount Shavano has watched with great concern the aggression of the Debarian communist regime against the free country of Blacktopia. As the situation has progressed, the FRR has arrived at the conclusion that military intervention is necessary to end the violence and to protect the freedom of the Blacktopians. Accordingly, one hour ago the Congress voted overwhelmingly to declare war on Debaria. We will be willing to cease hostilities only in the event of a total Debarian withdrawal from Blacktopia. FRR forces are already en route to the theater of operations. We call upon all like minded, free nations to join us, and to make contact with FRR command for the coordination of military efforts. To the people of Blacktopia we say this: Hold on, help is on the way.

Can you give me more detail on the Derbarian Navy?
Sure:
The Derbarian navy, like their airforce and army, are all mediocre but have alot of funding. Their equipment is just mass produced like the Soviets did. They can get a decent amount out there, but they are pretty inferior to countries who value quality over quantity.
The country's government is pretty awful though, so they would have a hard time re-establishing a supply line if it was broken up. I'll make a big map later of the distance between Derbaria and Blacktopia, but it's out of their air range, so Derbaria had to bring jets on aircraft carriers outside of Blacktopia to bomb them. Their ships aren't flimsy, but they don't have the gadgets that many other modern tech armies have.
Is the sea supply line long enough that I can get at it without letting the Derbarian land based air power get a shot at me? If not, how powerful is their air force?
Air Force would be a small problem, but Anti-Air from ships would be pretty deadly.
How well defended are the ports of the Debarian homeland? I may bomb them if I think I can get away with it.
They're pretty defended, but definately bombable. Derbaria's neighbor, Max Beagle, bombed them into oblivion in a prior war, and defenses were comparable, if not better then in Derbaria than they were now. Let me know if that's your plan, and I'll map Derbarian ports for you.
The Derbarian generals recieved the message of Volzgrad's support. They rejoiced loudly in celebration. Forces were halted at the moment, and Generals sent Volzgrad the following message:
"Fellow Comrades,
The city of Pretopia is well defended. We have been pounding it with artillery for days, and the Capitalists will not give up. If you are up to helping us with the push into the city, we will stand down for the moment and continue to blast artillery into the city. At the current pace, it is unlikely that Pretopia would be capturable until the end of the week anyways."

Press Release from the Office of the President
We have received word that at 0154 this morning the United Commonwealth of Volzgrad has declared its unilateral support for Debaria. Although war has not yet formally been declared between Volzgrad and the Front Range Republic, it appears to be inevitable. We will meet this threat, and while we hope for a short war it is important that we be prepared for a long one. We must remember that communism stands opposed to democracy, capitalism, and Christianity, the foundations of our great nation, and indeed any great nation. We will be increasing our military deployments to the region in light of this development.
FROM: VADM Landry, FRN
TO: RADM Sheer, UDN
Strongly recommend that your ships take care to keep all parties advised of their positions at all times. The last thing we need is to attack your ships by mistake.
FROM: President Cloud
TO: FRR Military Intelligence
We need concrete information on numbers and capabilities of the Volzgradian invasion force.
OOC:
The FRR is making unofficial contacts with friendly regional countries (i.e. countries likely to favor Blacktopia over Debaria) about the possibility of basing bomber and fighter wings there.
The additional forces are another carrier group of similar strength to the first (SNS Zebulon Pike, SNS Rodger Young), 24 additional fast attack subs, and actual deployment of the marine elements mentioned earlier. All branches of the military are being brought to increased readiness.
Upon their imminent arrival, the battleplan for the first FRN force is thus:
The 12 submarines are deploying in groups of two, and going carrier hunting. Should they encounter an enemy carrier, they will attack in tandem if possible, and in any case relay its position and other information back to the carriers. One pair of submarines is being deployed to attempt to intercept and sink any Volzgradian carriers (there is no reason I would know his exact force composition). My carriers will remain at the outer edges of air range until an enemy carrier is located and then press in to attack immediately. They will attack targets of opportunity besides just carriers.
My objective is to eliminate to the enemy carriers, because without them every other ship they have is little more than a target. I can sink the Volzgradians on their transports, cut the supply lines for the Debarian Army, and hopefully end the war quickly if I can gain naval air superiority.
My forces should arrive in theater in about 5 real time minutes, assuming a one-hour lag.

1900 hours, Volzgradien Flagship Retribution
The advancing Volzgradien Armada gleamed with the crimson light of the setting sun. They're mighty prows cut through the water like hot knifes through fresh butter. To many crewman aboard the Volzgradien vessels, it seemed like they were in one of the scenes of a propaganda film. At the forefront of the fleet, the Dreadnought Retribution led the others toward their far off destination. Its countless missile batteries gleamed a menacing glow as the sun sank beneath the waves of the horizon.
Despite the serene peace outside, the command bridge of the Retribution was bustling with activity. Countless officers and sailors hurried along in their ever important work. Terminals hummed and clicked as their operators masterfully coordinated the vessel. Unlike his subordinates, Admiral Lusolov gazed at the all encompassing ocean. He was simply enjoying the view.
"Beautiful isn't it Vasili?" Lusolov mumbled to his adjutant as he stared at the rolling waves. Somewhat surprised by the Admiral's question, Vasili hesitated before responding, "Of course Comrade Admiral. That is why I joined the Navy." With the sun finally gone, Lusolov turned and walked toward the command terminal in the center of the room. Several high ranking officers were already waiting patiently for his arrival. He hastily entered a code into the monitors screen. After several seconds of buzzing, a small, green hologram of Blacktopia appeared on the screen.
"This, gentlemen, is where we will begin our invasion" Lusolov said confidently as the tapped on a large city named "Stargaria." Another, smaller, hologram appeared on the screen; this one representing the Volzgradien fleet. "We will bombard the city with a combined air and naval assault. Once the defenses have been appropriately reduced, Our ground forces will land and eliminate any remaining pockets of resistance. If any foreign force attempts to stop us, they will become our top priority. We cannot allow our supply lines to be cut off." Lusolov continued coldly. "Once the city is secure, we will move onto Pretopia and cut off the head of the Capitalist snake."

Near western Blacktopian waters. 1935 Hours.
Admiral Landry stood on the bridge of his flag carrier and stared into the sunset. Brilliant orange, traditionally regarded as a good omen for his country. He hoped so. He understood as well as anyone the need to aggressively contain communism, but this was a battle whose outcome was far from certain and a lot of good people were likely to die.
His flag captain walked up and stood next to him. "We've gotten a report from submarines Aurora and Buena Vista, sir. They located and attacked an enemy task force containing a carrier off the western coast. Five torpedoes expended, no hits. No damage to either sub."
"At least we now know where that flattop is, Captain. Your boys up to the task of a night attack?"
"Absolutely, sir. When do you want to launch?"
"As soon as possible. Let's launch while we still have light to do it with, if we can."
Landry turned back to the sunset. A night attack was somewhat risky, but he needed to cripple the Debarian Navy before their Volzogradian reinforcements arrived, so he had to take the chance. Besides, there was a good chance he would catch them unprepared. Either way, the war was about to begin for the FRR.

Mr. President,
Your offer suits us just fine if you would escort them to the outskirts of markosa our forces are setting up a neutral zone and will pick them up from there. If your needs are different however we can send a detachment of our own.
Minister of foreign affairs Theodore W.
The Derbarian Supply Lines (http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/gg193/DashieCamel/Blacktopia/Derbsupp.jpg) were, as described by the Blacktopians, the most godawful mess to be seen in a war. Despite being well defended, the lines were quite unorganized. Even the Derbarians remarked how unorganized the lines were.
----------------
A meeting amongst General Gates and General Charles in a Derbarian war room in Blacktopia.
"I don't like it one damn bit!" yelled Charles, slamming his fist on a table, causing war map pieces to jump. "Look at these supply lines! They're ridiculous! With Mount Shavano coming into to attack, they will be completely pourous! They're out of our airrange! How do you suppose, sir, that we maintain these lines that our troops desperately need!"
General Gates was an arrogant man. He all but ignored Charles, who had been in service longer than him, and was not from a rich family like Gates was.
"What you speak of is borderline treasonous, and at least defeatist," said Gates, looking down upon Charles. "You are a fool, and undervalue our equipment. Yes, Mount Shavano is superior to us militarily, but our supply lines will hold. We will drive the Capitalists back, and this will be our victory day."
Charles couldn't believe the arrogance of this man. He stormed out of the room.
Mr. President,

A convoy pulled up for the ambassador at promptly 8 pm. The horizon was a beautiful yellow, and the clouds were red amongst a dark blue sky.
Six Derbarian military men stepped out of the car, and stood erect in a line for the ambassador to walk through to get to his door. When he did, one of the men opened the door for the ambassador, and the convoy took off.
The convoy had reached an area half way between the Capital and Markosa, when suddenly, a gigantic bomb exploded near the ambassador's car!
OOC: Is the ambassor leaving yet? Just let me know OOC if I got this wrong.

625 hours, Volzgradien Flagship Vengeance
The subdued rays of the rising sun gleamed on the Volzgradien armada's prows. They had sailed all through the night at full speed. Despite the many chances of mechanical failure, both their vessels and the sea were kind. Like the night before, the ocean remained tranquil and silent. Of course, this could not be said of Stargaria. With the Volzgradien fleet preparing it's bombardment forces, it would only be minutes before the skies above the city turned red with fire.
Despite the considerable distance between the armada and Stargaria, Admiral Lusolov could hear the distance thuds and booms of artillery. He yawned heavily as he took another swig of his favorite vodka. He had been awake almost all night coordinating the armada's journey. After only a 30 minute nap, he was awake again. His crew were equally tired, but everyone was excited and somewhat anxious to begin the invasion of Blacktopia. Lusolov finished the last drops of vodka just as his adjutant was approaching him. Lusolov turned clumsily and awaited his adjutant's message.
"Comrade Admiral, all ships are ready to begin immediate bombardment. Aircraft are already begin launched from the Kirov." The adjutant responded after a quick salute. Lusolov saluted back and replied, "Excellent, begin the bombardment immediately. It's time we watched some fireworks." His adjutant nodded and quickly sent the message to the other fleet commanders.
Almost immediately, the armada began an almost unparalleled bombardment. An uncountable amount of missiles flew from their pods to the designated Blacktopian positions. Even the aging 16' guns of the older Dreadnoughts began firing rapidly in a massive and destructive orchestra of death. A squadron of SU-47s flew off toward the Blacktopian positions to deliver their deadly cargo. The sky and ground would soon turn dark red.

West Coast Derbarian Navy force, 0110 hours.
The incoming airstrike was seen first by radar from the outermost picket destroyer. There was rapid barrage of radio traffic as her surprised captain flashed warnings to the rest of the fleet. As much fighter cover as could be scrambled quickly moved to engage the attackers, but they were outnumbered and over matched. They were quickly brushed aside, downing only a handful of attackers.
Anti aircraft missile fire opened up. They too scored only a few hits as the aircraft flew closer, having difficulty breaking through their advanced chaff systems. The Derbarian command staff aboard Albania listened to the jets roaring past them directly overhead and wondered if their ship was going to be attacked, but tonight the FRN was after bigger game.
The Derbarian Navy finally caught a break at the last possible moment. As the carrier came under attack from a massive barrage of missiles, her close in defenses and countermeasures proved surprisingly effective. Still, the ship was seriously hurt. One missile sent an elevator flying 100 feet into the air. Two more holed the flight deck forward and provided a ten degree starboard list. The last and most devastating shot hit and detonated the carrier's aviation gasoline storage. The resulting fireball destroyed most of the planes in her hangar, and set her afire. Her captain listened with worry as her engines ground to a halt. There would be no airstrike on the UDA tomorrow, not from this ship. He would be lucky to get her home before an additional strike finished her off.

"Sir, we have recieved a report from the Blacktopian Army. The Volzgradian Armada is attacking the city of Stargaria." The communications officer reported. "Several heavy surface forces, and at one nuclear carrier, based on the number of enemy aircraft engaged."
"Very good. Communications, fire off a report to Admiral Landry and contact El Paso. Helm, take us in."
SNS John Patrick Ryan, 0710 hours
Admiral Landry stood in front of a large, computer situation display. "Here is the plan, gentlemen. Admiral Houston and his task force should arrive in the area later today. I'll have him take his carriers and sweep through the waters north of the island, between the Derbarian Army and their supplies. We will remain here and attempt to destroy the remaining surface forces in this area." He pointed to the icon representing the stricken carrier. "We know that the Volzgradian expedition is here." He pointed to the opposite coast. "We have two submarines tracking them and looking for an opportunity to attack. We will deal with them when necessary." He looked around. "Any questions?" He was greeted with silence. "Excellent. Our next strike goes airborne at 0900. Good luck."

925 hours, Off the Blacktopian Coast
For many people, including the Volzgradien soldiers, Stargaria appeared almost unrecognizable. Three hours of intense shelling and air strikes turned what was once a bustling metropolis to an almost useless wreck. UAV recon showed that almost no Blacktopian defenses remained standing let alone functional. Despite the massive bombardment, it was almost certain that some Blacktopians survived. It would take ground forces to root out and crush them.
The long duration of the bombardment also meant that the invasion force had plenty of time to prepare itself. By the time the last missiles and shells had landed, all forces were ready to land. Now, countless amphibious APCs and landing craft sped off toward the ever looming ruins of Stargaria. In the skies above, squadrons of Mi-8 transport helicopters flew off toward their designated LZs. Their objectives were simple, secure the ports for the fleet, eliminate any and all resistance, and if possible, aid the Derbarian forces.
For Sergeant Gargarin, the only thing that mattered were his and his mens' lives. Like the majority of the Volzgradien soldiers, he was forced to land in a cramped APC. While it provided excellent protection and speed, it was almost unbearably cramped and loud. He hastily checked his equipment and rifle one last time to make sure everything was in order. Gargarin lurched forward as the APC finally hit the beaches. He and his squad hurriedly exited the APC and began firing rounds into the windows of several derelict beach houses. Surprisingly no one fired back...

SNS John Patrick Ryan, 1135 hours.
Admiral Landry's morning had been a success. First the crippling of the carrier during the early hours, then a second strike had attacked and sunk two destroyers and a frigate. That strike was landing now. A third, larger strike would go up soon to try to finish off the carrier. Casualties had been light, and reinforcements were close. An enemy sub had run across one of his and been sunk an hour ago. Maybe the orange sunset had been a good omen after all...

1000 hours, Stargaria
The bright rays of the now fully shining sun illuminated the ruins of Stargaria in an eerie light. Almost the entire Volzgradien attack force had landed. The ports and dock areas were taken with no resistance. Derbarian forces in the city had taken advantage of the Volzgradien bombardment and began a massive offensive against the few remaining Blacktopian forces. In a mirror operation, Volzgradien troops began a push toward the center of the ruined city.
Overhead, a squadron of Pavelov class Aerofrigates rained down deadly artillery fire. Now it was time for the main phase of the invasion, the Crimson sledgehammer of the Volzgradien military would fall upon Stargaria. By the end of the day, no Capitalist's would remain.

How many carriers does the Derbarian Navy have?
Just 3, 2 are deployed right now. One is back at their port.
---------------------------------
Volzgrad
The Blacktopian army rushed within the city borders after the bombardment. Civilians and soldiers alike were everywhere, dead and wounded. Anti-aircraft guns and APC's rushed into the city to defend it, but little did Blacktopians know, that Derbarians used the airstrikes and artillery to make a mad dash toward the city to capture it.
The forces met up in no time, and tracers and bombs were flying left and right. The battle was intense and bloody, and the Blacktopian forces did not notice the Volzgrad invaders on the beach, until a group of APCs attempted to flank the Derbarians. Upon meeting the Volzgrad forces, the APC's fired rounds at the invaders, but infantry could not set up postions to deflect the attack. The effort by the Blacktopian APC's against the Volzgard landing forces was futile, but they would hold them off for as long as they could to buy time.
------------------
Center of Stargaria, 02:12
"Take cover! Another AH-6 is coming on a strafing run!" yelled a Blacktopian soldier, as 3 Derbarian choppers riddled the street with bullets. Two Blacktopian soldiers were nailed, and hit the ground lifeless. A Blacktopian soldier emerged with a Stinger missile, and fired at a Derbarian chopper, causing it to explode into a million little pieces in the air. The Blacktopians were getting hit with artillery on all sides.
A second infantry unit was one day away from the city, moving NorthEast to intercept the invaders. It was their fear that they would arrive to nothing left. The Derbarian advance stopped as they reached the center of Stargaria, and pushed the Blacktopians to the South of the city. There, they would remain, as Volzgrad and Derbarian artillery would continue to pound the Blacktopians.

1100 hours, Central Stargaria
Bullets flew through the smoke filled air like birds of prey. For almost and hour and half, Volzgradien and Derbarian forces had attacked the ever weakening Blacktopian forces in the city. Of all areas bombed by the Volzgradiens, none compared to the center of Stargaria. Ruins of buildings filled the streets and turned the city center into a quagmire. The heavy road blockage meant that only the lightly armed and armored APCs could make it through. Despite the shear hopelessness of the situation, the Blacktopians remained defiant.
The intensity of each attack increased steadily with every gun shot. Only a few hours earlier, an attack would have only consisted of a few squads duking it out. Now however, entire platoons were being thrown at each other in a situation that closely resembled the battle of Stalingrad almost 70 years ago. Hopefully, the city would be under Communist control within the next 24 hours.
Like a rabid wolf, Lieutenant Svemir charged the enemy bunker head on. He could hear the heavy 7.62mm rounds of AK-47s whiz by his head as he dove for a large piece of rubble to his left. He glanced over at his squad as he reloaded his heavily worn AK-101. No sooner had he looked, a private in his squad jerked backward from the impact of several rounds to the chest. He peered over the masonry he was taking cover behind only to be met with fierce enemy fire. Damn these fools! Don't they realize that they WILL lose? he thought to himself. The load rumble of a vehicle soon turned his gaze to the ruins of what appeared to be a bank.
After a few minutes of anxious waiting, the bulky form of a Volzgradien BTR-100 appeared in a cloud of dust. The cheers of the Volzgradien soldiers were drowned out by the BTR-100's 40mm autocannon. The Blacktopian bunker detonated in a blast of concrete and exploding ammunition. This city was red now.
Uh... We're not terrorists...
OOC: Ahhhhh... I get it now. It's your government title. GLASAM stands for your nation's name. lol. Sorry about that.
Pick a side to join - Attackers (Derbarian) or Defenders (Blacktopian), or just be a neutral / land grabber.
The Mount Shavano attack was devastating on the ships. Worst was the loss of an aircraft carrier, which began to take on water an hour after the attack concluded. A missile had ripped into its hull, sending a wall of water pouring into the ship. The sailors aboard were too busy fanning the flames on the deck to notice.
Three other ships were struck in the attack. One of the destroyers, the DSS Maple, was completely in flames, and its members almost had to abandon ship. The Destroyer most certainly had to sail back to the port, as it was completely out of operation. Another destroyer that was attacked, the DSS Star, was moderately damaged, but still operational.
Unfortunately, a neutral submarine, which just happened to be caught in the wrong place in the wrong time, was blown out of the water.
Stargaria was in flames, and the Blacktopian troops were taking heavy losses. A Blacktopian soldier looked on in awe as his fellow countrymen were chewed up by the BTR-100 rounds that smashed apart the bunker.
Three soldiers ran forward with RPG rockets. They each aimed and fired directly at the BTR-100, hoping that their shots would score a hit and disable the vehicle. Just as they fired, a BTR round ripped into the chest of one of the soldiers, killing him instantly. Artillery rounds were exploding all around the soldiers. Most of their countrymen had pulled even further back, and most of the Blacktopian APC's had been massacred by Volzgrad air and land power. The ones that got away were chewed up by the advancing Derbarian army, which was right next to, if not fighting along side the Volzgrad army.
A Blacktopian sniper got what looked like a Lt. in his sights. He was using a sniper rifle, and aimed directly at the Lt's head. The sniper's spotter had been shot in the head moments before by a Volzgradien sniper. The sniper put the crosshairs on the LT's head, and fired.

Lt. Svermir's head jerked back with a sickening crack as a sniper's bullet found its mark. After a few horrific seconds of convulsing, his body became still. A thick pool of blood formed beneath as the head wound opened even more. His squad stared at his limp corpse with a mixture of shock and shear hatred. They would find the man who did this, and by God they would make him pay. Quickly realizing that they made easy targets for the sniper, the remaining Volzgradien soldiers dove back into cover and began blindly firing into windows in hopes of hitting the bastard that killed the Lieutenant.
The BTR-100 fared a slightly better fate. The first RPG simply corkscrewed into the sky, while the second was easily deflected by the BTR's sloped armor. Unfortunately, the last round managed to lodge itself in the vehicles poorly armored wheels. After a few seconds of fizzing, the rocket detonated with a bone jarring concussion. The explosion tore off all the wheels on the left side of the vehicle, leaving it immobilized. It did however, still have the ability to fire. Quickly realizing where the RPGs had been fired, the BTR-100 let loose a deadly salvo of shells into the attackers cover.
With the Blacktopian positions suppressed by the BTR-100's autocannon, the Volzgradien infantry fixed bayonets and charged toward the cowardly Blacktopians position. Several of the troopers lobbed grenades forward in an attempt to flush the fools out.

Resolution 117 of the 115th Congress of the Commonwealth of Patrick Gentry
Passed in Congress
Due to the recent destabilization and onset of conflict, inflicted by Derberians against their less aggressive neighbors the Blacktopians. Citing that the Derberians are receiving additional aid from Volzgrad, vastly reducing the Blacktopians already low odds of successfully defending against this invasion.
The Congress of the Commonwealth of Patrick Gentry has approved the immediate deployment of 15,000 CRA (Commonwealth Regular Army) with air and ground support assets (artillery, armor, ect), as well as 2 Carrier Task Forces to the area to counter the blatant disregard shown toward the authority and the sovereignty of Blacktopia.
This initial deployment shall be authorized for up to 1 year, the Theater Commander shall have explicit strategic and tactical command of the theater of combat, and the right to increase ground troop up to 75,000 as he deems needed, any additional requests of support must be approved by the Congress. The Theater Commander is required to report to Congress on the situation of the conflict at Congress' convenience.

Overall, 15,000 more Volzgradien troops will be sent along with a full naval taskforce.

Meanwhile, outside of Pretopia
General Vastoff (Derbarian): This is a tricky city indeed. We've been sitting here all day, collecting Blacktopian rockets. Really. I could build an army by myself with the amount of duds I pulled off of the field and from our base yesterday. That's why we're winning. The Blacktopians have yet to make a bomb that actually explodes!
General Peters: Aye. This is true, but still, one bomb yesterday took 10 of our boys... one bomb! They were unlucky enough to be in the dining halls when a 200 pounder nailed right onto their position. Poor bastards. My friend found a finger yesterday and brought it to the morgue, and he tells me it was bad, just by looking at the bodies. From these attacks, if they keep taking 30 away from us like they did yesterday, we'll dwindle down to nothing.
General Vastoff: Well you see, they're pounding the shit out of Stargaria. That city is going to be ours soon because of the Volzgradiens. They're the real champs, son. Tought motherfuckers ripping through Blacktopian guns and bombs, and they did it all night last night too. Took them 3 days, and that's it. Granted the city hasn't fallen yet, but...
An air raid siren blared.
General Vastoff: Is it an air attack?
General Peters: Unlikely. Probably a shell-
A huge explosion could be heard from the quarters, as the entire place shook. Peters grasped his chest, as he could feel the boom on his heart.
General Peters: For all that is holy... General, I do believe that was probably at least three men killed there. It had that 'building hit' sound to it.
General Vastoff: They probably hit the fucking restrooms.
General Peters: Janitor's going to have a stroke.
A second bomb exploded, this time sounding further away. The air raid siren was off by now.
General Vastoff: I'm going to have a stroke. Mother Fuckers!
Vastoff yelled this out of one of the windows of the quarters. Peters shook his head. Just as he did this, another bomb exploded - this one was much closer than the other too, and caused Peters to yelp.
General Vastoff: Reinforced buildings my ass.
The bombing had passed. Peters stepped out, and just as he did, a 120mm shell was deeply implanted in the ground feet from the quarters. He laughed, kind of pathetically. It was more of surprise.
General Peters: See, God is watching over us.
General Vastoff just looked at him for a moment, and then walked away. Five ambulances were scattered around the base. This was a bad one. Half of one of the barracks was blown apart, and a guard tower had fallen onto another barracks. The scream of wounded men was audible.
General Vastoff had had enough. If they were going to attack Pretopia, it had to be now.
General Vastoff: Joint Operations isn't going to happen. We've got to do this alone.
The Blacktopian sniper aimed for a second shot. He had a slight, sickening smile, knowing that he had just killed the Lt. His scope set on the head on another soldier, possibly a sergeant.
The sniper gripped the trigger, and started to pull, when a sharp pain emerged from his neck. A round blasted his jugular apart, exploding a cloud of blood on the wall behind him.
"GuccckkkK!!!" gasped the sniper, quickly dropping his rifle, and grabbing his neck. It was without a doubt an Ak-101 round, as the skin wound was horrendous. The sniper grasped his neck, as blood shot out of his neck like a geyser. Everywhere he moved, blood poured to the floor. He could barely breath, and tried to exit the building. He was without a doubt doomed, and fell to the ground below him, as he was now just outside the building.
The sniper tried to get up, but his limbs were limp. He settled on the ground below, and stopped moving.

With Blacktopian forces in a full retreat, the Volzgradien sledge hammer fell at last. Volzgradien and Derbarian troops now held almost all of the city. Even the retreating Blacktopians weren't safe from the nigh constant strafing and bombing runs from Volzgradien and Derbarian aircraft. Volzgradien headquarters had officially been moved to a building soon nicknamed the "Iron sides" because of its surprisingly solid construction. Despite the massive victory, several Blacktopian infantry regiments still held ground on the outskirts of Stargaria. They would be taken care of "soon."
Corporal Sebastev pumped his arms forward as he and his comrades pushed their way up the stairs. The large red banner strapped to his back weighed him down, but it didn't stop him at all from emptying a magazine into a Blacktopian soldier. They were now reaching the top of the stairs and Sebastev could feel the cold touch of sweat all over his well armored body. They had encountered surprisingly little resistance during the push up one of the few remaining government buildings. Volzgradien High Command had specifically ordered that a red banner be raised over Stargaria to signal its liberation from Capitalism.
Now that they were on the roof, Sebastev and his squad could see the true devastation wrought by the navy. As far as the eye could see, there were only ruins and skeletons of once mighty buildings. Remembering his objective, Sebastev removed the banner from his back and began to approach the edge of the surprisingly intact building. Now filled with Revolutionary Patriotism, Sebastev waved the banner back and forth with vigorous swings. It was official now, Stargaria was red.
Grenades exploded around the doomed and demoralized soldiers, as they raised their rifles to shoot. They were all getting massacred as the Volzgradiens charged. One of the men got up after getting shot with a pistol, and aimed it, but a Volzgradien soldier stabbed a bayonet into his chest. The remaining Blacktopian soldiers, or at least a few of them charged back shooting, but were mowed down and stabbed. Five were remaining, and dead bodies were strewn all around them. The city center to slightly south of the city center was now in the invader's hands.
"Please! I don't want to die!" begged one of the soldiers. He took his helmet off and put his hands on his head. The rest of the men followed. Their fate now rested with the Volzgradiens.

The citizens of Markosa were surprised by a sudden mass dropping of paper from the sky. The denizens of the half destroyed and wartorn city each grabbed the leaflets, and began to read.
"Safe zone huh? Ha!" said one of the citizens. The idea that anywhere was safe on Blacktopia was a foreign concept to them. Derbarian and Blacktopian soldiers were everywhere in the city: mostly snipers. Neither had any sense of Rules of Engagement, and civilians took more casualties than soldiers did most of the time.

Despite their usual ruthlessness, these were not the men who killed Svemir and Yuri. After a few rifle butt hits, the Blacktopian soldiers were on the ground and subdued. Several BTR-100s were now entering the square, ready to counterattack any assault the few remaining Blacktopians could muster. The remaining Blacktopian prisoners were quickly herded into the APCs and driven off toward the beachhead. Their fates were uncertain. The officers would obviously be interrogated, but the lives of the others would most likely be spared. They would most likely be handed over to neutral forces for incarceration.

OOC: To stop accidental godmode, my reinforcements will arrive at exactly 6:00 PM (Atlantic Eastern Time) tomorrow.
The Blacktopian response was timely. Infantry in the area set up mortar positions, as there were no set artillery positions in the area, and rained mortars down upon the city. Special attention was put on the center of the city where the Blacktopian unit was slaughtered in order to exact revenge.
"Fire!" yelled the leader of each mortar team, as mortars exploded out of their tubes.
The faint booming of mortars striking already destroyed buildings and pavement could be heard from the distance.
Next, several rockets were let loose into the center of the city. All that the Blacktopian soldiers had to fear was a swift Volzgradien response.

OOC: This is my last post for the night. Be back tomorrow.
"Shit! Everybody get down!" screamed Sergeant Cornilov as mortar rounds detonated around the square. They had only just finished loading prisoners into APCs and now this? Despite his warning, fully 16 Volzgradien soldiers fell in the whizzing rain of shrapnel. Cornilov lay prone behind a piece of what appeared to be a statue, desperately hoping that the bombardment would end soon. Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed the squad radio operator crouching behind a destroyed pillar. Because of the nigh constant roar of rockets and mortars, Cornilov used hand signals to coordinate with the radioman. After a few desperate seconds of strange looking hand motions, the radioman got the message and contacted Volzgradien HQ.
Naturally, such an attack would not go unpunished. Two Volzgradien Budyennoy class Aerofrigates (to put them bluntly, Aerofrigates are essentially Goodyear blimps with six 40mm Autocannons inside)were soon diverted to engage the ever present Blacktopian "artillery." After a few hurried minutes of preparation, the Aerofrigates sent a stream of munitions screaming toward the unprotected mortar teams.
The sniper who had shot Lt. Svemir was now crawling on the ground. He had regained consciousness, but was bleeding from his neck badly. He crawled further, until Volzgradien soldiers found him and yelled for him to drop his weapon. His pistol was useless anyway, as he barely had the strength to hold it.
The mortar teams dodged toward the hills like mad men. Rounds were exploding around them, and men were flying into the air. They were helpless to the falling artillery shells. They were taken by surprise when the shelling started, when 8 were killed instantly (2 mortar teams) as a shell hit deads on. They ran for cover, and only hoped that the artillery wouldn't follow them.

Surprised by the wounded snipers resilience, the Volzgradien soldiers hesitated approaching him. They soon realized however, that he had already dropped his pistol. Unfortunately for the sniper, he had lost far too much blood to survive. Realizing this, one of the Volzgradien soldiers approached him and shoved his bayonet into the back of his neck. He died quickly, at least.
With the Blacktopian mortar teams in full retreat and now hiding behind several hills, the Aerofrigates ceased fire. However, just in case they returned, the Aerofrigates began to patrol the hills around Stargaria.

Admiral Houston was less tense than he'd been before nightfall. His task force had apparently managed to avoid detection before nightfall, and was now sheltered from prying eyes by both darkness and the storm front they were skirting. In a few hours they would leave the storm's edge for the predawn darkness to launch a strike at Derbaria's largest southern port. Hopefully, they would be able to cause extensive damage and then withdraw before the Derbarian Air Force could mount an effective counterstrike. If they were very lucky, they might catch the second Derbarian carrier in there - Shavanese intelligence knew she was in a port, just not which one.
OOC:
Dashie, in order to avoid godmoding, I'm going to let you tell me how the strike plays out. I'm launching two full flight decks of elite strike planes, minus only the permanent Combat Air Patrol for my carriers. If I haven't been spotted yet, I should also hopefully have the element of surprise. Against a possible counterattack, I have my CAP, several AEGIS crusiers, and possibly adverse weather to aid me. I am launching from fairly long range, to decrease the time I'm exposed to counterattack.

Subject: Creation of the Blacktopian Allied Defense Command (BADC)
I most graciously accept your proposal to form a joint command to aid the people of Blacktopia. My top military advisers have suggested that all nations allied against the aggression of the Derbarian/Volzgradien invasion create one central allied command which them gave the proposed name of Blacktopian Allied Defense Command or BADC.
I have no intentions to try and manage this conflict from my Presidential Compound. I have sent the very best military units and leadership that proudly represents the Commonwealth of Patrick Gentry. I will pass on this information and express my support of this potential allied command to the Military leadership.
The infringement of Blacktopian Authority and Sovereignty by their aggressive and inhumane neighbors, is a direct threat to all free nations. This threat must be met by a unified and joint coalition of free nations determined to see democracy and liberty preserved against the tyranny and hypocrisies of the Totalitarian menace that threatens Blacktopia and the free world.

To: Admiral Landry SNS John Patrick Ryan
I am pleased to accept your offer of a Joint Military Command. It is my intention that our theater commands, along with our respective staffs, shall form the interim BADC, our military governing body shall be the Allied Command Board. This Board will be made up of the top commander from each allied nation.
Any other allied nations wishing to join the coalition shall have representation on the Allied Command Board (ACB), the chairman of this board will have the title of Supreme Allied Commander, each member has the title of Allied Commander.
Chairmanship will be determined by the popular vote of the ACB, the Chairmans tenure is 6 months, and he can be reappointed to his position as long as he retains the confidence of his peers on the ACB.
Each commander still retains the right to oppose the use of his troops in an allied mission if he or she believes this mission places their troops are unneeded risk.
Like I mentioned earlier this is a starting point I am sure that this will chance as the BADC develops. Any questions, comments, or ideas for this joint command would be much appreciated and welcomed.

"It appears that the city of Stargaria has been overrun by Volzgradien Forces. Their are reports that the invading forces have not respected the civilian's non combatant status and has killed several thousand civilians during the fight. These reports remain unconfirmed though..." Lt. Commander Stykes stated.
"What is the situation in Pretopia?" asked General Kelly James the aging and tough woman who has command of the operation.
"Their situation is very dire, the city is completely surrounded by Derbarian forces. Intel also suggests that the Blaktopians have no armor or artillery within the city. Their entire force is made up of Infantry, Marines, and local Milita"
"What is the size of the Derbarian Seige?" asked the General
OOC: Because of the size and scale of this movement
"Massive totaling over 10,000 troops they have artillery, armor, Light and Heavy Infantry. By the grace of god himself the Balcktopians have managed to hold them at bay this long, but that will not last much longer" Lt. CMD Stykes informed the group.
"General Kelson where are your fly-boys at the moment?" asked Gen. James
"Our aviation assets are 3 and a half hours from Lunarosa Militray Air Field. They carry with them security and maintenance assets. If all goes according to schedule they should be fully mission operational by 0700 this morining ..." Gen Kelson stated and continued on with a chuckle" ... and James don't be callin' my pilots fly-boys if your expecting them you get your ass out of this mess"
"Well your right, your pilots will be the only hope for this scenario. As soon as the Task Forces get within landing range the ground troops will depart for Lunarosa's beach front, this area is friendly so we should reach the Air Field unopposed. Once our ground forces depart for the mainland our naval assets will execute their orders, and begin assaulting the enemy naval assets while preparing to support the ground forces."
The General took a short pause and looked to be in a state of inner turmoil as if he was about to make one of the hardest decision in his life.
"The only way we will be able to help Pretopia is to conduct a massive air drop/assault immediately. I plan to drop the entire 3rd Armor in the Central Pretopia Park, 15 mins after the 408th Aviation starts shuttling in the 17th INF and half of the 102nd INF, along with the required support assets from the 304th CSC." Gen. James stated while pointing to key landing areas on the overhead battle map.
"General that is taking much risk" Admiral Schultz stated "You are half of your infantry to enemy fire for almost 5 mins from the inside of Blackhawks on the final approach to the city."
"Yes it is risky but it is the only way to get our troops their fast enough to do anything besides clean up dead bodies" Gen. James stated, "I have the utmost faith in our assault helicopters ability to defend out Blackhawks, as well as our Air Forces ability to bomb the hell out of the hardened units in our path to Pretopia for an hour or two before we start the operation"
"You can count on us, we can start air-strikes at 0705, putting your first chalks lifting off at 0900 and the air drops at 0915"
"Sound good to me gentlemen, by 1300 tomorrow our troop better be in Pretopia or their will be hell to pay" Gen. James said.
"and this war might be over before we even get their" LT. CMD Stykes added.

200 hours, Volzgradien Field Headquarters
General Pavelovich: With Stargaria secure, now we may focus on the true assault on Blacktopian forces. If their estimates are accurate, our reinforcements should be arriving some time today. However, this brings up the question of the newly formed "BDAC."
Admiral Klimenov: Don't worry, they are currently no threat to our forces. If our intelligence is accurate, they seem to have committed their entire military to this operation. This obviously means that they have no men in reserve if they are defeated. We on the other hand, currently have 5 armies and 7 naval fleets in reserve. In total, we have around 75,000 men and 150 ships ready for action if they are called upon.
High General Vasilov: Excellent. However, if we are to win this war quickly and decisively, we must begin an immediate invasion of Pretopia. Our intelligence reports that the Derbarian army is currently laying siege, however they are in desperate need of assistance if they are to break through. This, obviously, is where we come in. Our forces will be split in three groups. Army Group 1 will be sent to attack Pretopia and aid the Derbarians in break through the city's defenses. Army Group 2, our Aerofleet, will head south and take care of the retreating Blacktopian forces. Army Group 3 will remain behind as a reserve force and to defend our beachhead. Is that understood?
General Pavelovich: Yes Comrade.
Admiral Klimenov: Of course, Comrade.

OOC: Wouldn't this break your neutrality since your supplying weapons?
OOC: One last quick clarification which colors represent which nations?
Thanks for the help see you in the morning!
OOC: Can be found in the first post. Look under the teams. I believe your color is a Greenish blue.
ooc:_perhaps i failed to state clearly enough that the area that my soldiers control is markosa and the area around it. and the leaflet campaigns are at all the cities not just markosa.
The Derbarian army will honor your neutral zone in the name of sparing civilians more bloodshed. We will pull back all units as of tonight, and fighting will stop. We expect that Blacktopia will follow.
OOC: Both sides would now pull out of the city because they don't want another enemy. There's probably going to be a few snipers remaining, or spies, but your soldiers could just seek those out and shoot them or something. Another thing is that the Blacktopians won't give up the South outskirts of Markosa because there's oilfields there. Realistically, no side would give up oilfields without war.
------------
OOC: Wouldn't this break your neutrality since your supplying weapons?
OOC: Technically yes, but that has never stopped anyone. If the Derbarians don't find out (Depends where it is shipped, and what land it passes through) then they would always be assumed as neutral.

The port was serene in the early morning. The medium populated port, with a few anti-aircraft guns and missiles, was never expected to be attacked. The fresh, new buildings were just built last year, and the base was opened just 6 months ago.
The third aircraft carrier was in the port, being maintenanced. Many of its guns were taken off in order to perform maintenance on them. An air attack would be the worst thing that could happen to them right now.

We invaded Blacktopia to help you, and that's exactly what we plan to do here. Around three quarters of our invasion force (approximately 25,000 men) are ready for the attack. Several of our battleships are armed with conventional ICBMs. Our SU-47s and Tupolev 160s are top of the line stealth aircraft, the only way they really can be shot down by SAMs is with a lucky shot.
Our intelligence has also reported that the majority of the city is guarded by citizen militia. All we need to do is crush the front line infantry units to demoralize the militia. We are also in possession of many Fuel Air bombs, which are some of the most devastating weapons available. We will launch the attack in 1 day (2 hours RL).

Lunarosa Military Air Base, Blacktopia
The massive air lift commenced about an hour ago and Lieutenant Jason Brigs was on the flight line waiting to load his platoon up to be flown into the besieged city. This mission seemed like a potential suicide mission, but his devotion to duty forced those treasonous thoughts from his mind. He had a job to do and if it didn't get done the people of Pretopia stood no chance of surviving the coming battle.
Yes they could inflict massive damage to the invaders but in the end they would be crushed under the sheer size of their force, plus the Blacktopians military presence their was all infantry making it impossible for them to effective fight against the invaders.
"LT it's our time to load up" Capitan Smith, the company commander said.
"Rodger that, sir" the LT replied
His platoon hurried out to the flight line where dozens of Blackhawks were waiting, propellers spinning, ready to take them to the battle. The soldiers ducked down as they approached to avoid the deadly spin of the propellers.
"Morning Chief" the LT said to the flight's pilot Chief Warrant Officer Jones
"Mornin', Sir" the Chief Replied.
"How's things looking so far?" the LT asked.
"Thing's have been running very smoothly, the initial bombardment and air strikes carved path to the city we have had very few losses on the approach . The 3rd Armor is already in the city and coordinating the defense effort with the local Blacktopian Commander. They seemed at the brink of anarchy in the city our presence has had a calming and reassuring effect." the Chief explained.
"Sound good, lets dust off and get to the real fight" the LT ordered.
"Rodger that, Sir." The Chief got on his radio to get flight clearance. "This is Dark Knight 16 requesting permission to carry out the assigned mission, over" A few seconds went by and the response croaked over the radio. "Dark Knight 16 you are cleared to execute, Godspeed"
With that the black hawks propellers churned up dust as it lifted into the air to start the next wave of reinforcements to the besieged city.
The flight did not take long, about 15 minuets. The landscape was barren with many charred areas caused by the mornings strikes to clear the way for the current troop movement.
On approach to the city the Blackhawk received sporadic small arms fire but it was nothing that the veteran pilot could not handle.
The Lieutenant could see the improvised landing zone that they would be landing in. The main street in Pretopia had been cleared out and all the power lines taken down to allow the air lifts to land faster and safer than was provided in the Central Park.
The CRA units were moving into place quickly and professionally, their air, ground, and naval support units standing by to aid the defense of this stronghold of freedom.
Now our forces are digging in and planning the defense waiting for the enemy to play their hand and the fighting to begin.

Occupied Stargaria
Despite the Volzgradien Code of Honor, everyone knew that it would take drastic measures to capture Pretopia. All of the Dreadnoughts in the fleet contained several conventional ICMBs, perfect for this situation. Almost all Volzgradien aircraft were prepared for Operation Rain of Fire. Despite the obvious chance of civilian casualties, they were justified for the cause. With everything complete, the Operation was about to begin.
With two aircraft carriers and two airfields under their command, Volzgradien aircraft were filling the sky in an incredible rate. Composed almost entirely of stealth SU-47s and Tupolev TU-160s, they would be undetected until they dropped their deadly cargo. While the SU-47s were equipped with the standard layout of missiles and machineguns, the TU-160s were equipped with almost purely FOABs and fuel air bombs. Combined with the devastation wrought by the ICBMS, there would be almost nothing standing in Pretopia by the end of the operation.
In a single blinding blast, 10 Volzgradien ICBMs were launched into the air toward Pretopia. Thanks to Derbarian intelligence, they were aimed right at the center of each Blacktopian Division. Even though the remaining SAM units would definitely cause some casualties, the damage caused to Blacktopian forces would be catastrophic.
In a mirror operation, fully 25,000 Volzgradien troops and 2000 armored vehicles were prepared to invade what remained of Pretopia. Fighting would be very fierce, but together with the Derbarian's, they would succeed!

OOC to Patrick Gentry: What's your ORBAT? It will be very difficult for me to RP with you if I don't know how many troops you have.
Also, how exactly are you going to crew, maintain, and resupply all of those vehicles? It would take at least 117,500 personnel just to USE all of those vehicles and weapons. God knows how much fuel and ammunition you'd need. Not to mention bases and airfields. Not to mention it would take atleast 6 months to transport all of that equipment to the front, which would use even more fuel and supplies. Overall, it's ludicrous to take that amount of equipment seriously in RP without being some "wonder nation"

This is MUCH more plausible. The only thing I can really say is that you change the SAM number to 90. You need very specialized equipment to fire SAMs so you shouldn't really have 900. On the subject of AA defense, a nation like Blacktopia should be using cheap and much more numerous flak cannons instead of SAMs.

It is complete possible to have 900 SAM missiles I admit the UD was over generous with his support and donated far more than could be humanly sent but you could have well up to 700 or 800 FIM-92 Stinger's with a complement of platforms to launch from HMMWV's or the M3 Bradly IFV. While the Blacktopians would have flack guns as their sole Anti-Air capability the United Dependencies has plenty of capital to fund such a large influx of weaponry to the BADC. Also of note is the FIM-92 Stinger's proven ability to take down some of the most sophisticated planes and helicopters while being operated by farmers and uneducated rebels, making this weapons platform the perfect contribution to the Blacktopian resistance.

OOC: Sorry, but I confused 900 SAM missiles as 900 SAM launchers. Yes, I believe that's fairly possible. However, a fighter pilot would have to be very careless to be shot down by an FIM-92. A few simply flares or chaff can easily stop a stinger missile.

I believe that our strategy should be to fight a holding action on the mainland and an aggressive war at sea. I believe that between our two great nations we can defeat the Volzgradian and Derbarian Navies, and without logistical support their armies will crumble.
Towards this end I recommend deployment of your ships to the northern ocean, to interdict Derbarian supply lines.
The FRR currently have a reinforced division of Marines (24,000 men) in the city of Lunarosa. They are trained and equipped as well as anyone in the world. Approaching the South Derbarian Coast, dawn
The sleepy port was caught completely by surprise by the dawn attack. Only a few SAMs got off the ground before the attackers reached the launch point. "Rise and shine, commies!" snarled the flight leader as he unleashed his first shot. Within minutes the whole waterfront was aflame. An ammunition ship, being loaded for the trip to Blacktopia, exploded in a blinding flash. Bombs and missiles crashed into buildings all over the port, especially warehouses that might have been storing military supplies. Piers were strafed, and the carrier, unable to defend herself, was on the receiving end of a truly incredible amount of fire. Anti-aircraft defenses were targeted to make a potential return attack less costly. It was all over in less than an hour. The strike flew back to the south, where the task force recovered its planes, threw up a protective screen of fighters and ran towards the south at 40 knots. When a Shavanese satellite flew over two hours later to assess damage, it couldn't make out the port through the smoke that still covered it.
The ICBMs launched by Volzgrad's forces struck down on Pretopia, and did some damage to the military there. Key fighting positions in the middle of the city were completely blown apart, and smoldering. Now, All that had to be worked on was the outside defences of the city. Air raids on the city now focused on the outer walls, dropping bombs and firing missiles from KA-29 attack helicopters, and Stealth Bombers.
Blacktopians responded with Anti-Air guns, which were effective against the choppers, but minimally effective against the Stealth Bombers. The city was now ready for invasion, but the invasion would still be rather difficult. More civilians than soldiers were killed in the attack (at least those that were left after 2 intense weeks of shelling since the war began). Many gun positions had to be moved, since the destroyed buildings that they were camped in in the first place had fallen. There were still various defense positions around the city, however, which meant that a charge would lead to heafty casualties for the attackers.

OOC:They weren't nukes. They were conventional ICBMs.
1200 hours, Central Volzgradien Headquarters, St. Adriansburg
The bright granite spires of the Volzgradien Military headquarters glistened in the shining sun. Outside, countless business people and workers walked about, completely oblivious to the dealings inside. Today, a somber and gloomy mood had fallen across the Volzgradien HQ. Despite the astounding victory at Stargaria, few were celebrating.
Behind several steel blast doors and 50 meters beneath the surface, the Volzgradien Generals decided the fate of the Blacktopian Campaign. As per usual, the quick tempered Commissar Pavelov was the first to speak. "Stargaria was a victory, but we'll need much more to win this war then one city!" he roared in defiance of the much more calm Admiral Stansikov. "Our forces are already laying siege to Pretopia, the capitol of the Blacktopians. If you remember, our armies are specialized in siege warfare. Estimates range the capture of Pretopia within 5 days." Responded Admiral Stansikov calmly.
After a quick drink of water, Stansikov continued, "I have decided to sent a further two naval taskforces to secure the waters around Blacktopia. Overall, the are around 50 ships. 6 of them are aircraft carriers." Despite his brashness, Pavelov remained silent. He knew that was exactly what he would have done.
The aircraft carrier in the port had been spared from a certain death. One of the Mount Shavano bombs that hit it was a dud. The ship was still in flames, however.
Initial assessments by area forces estimated that the base could be rebuilt in one month, but the damage was severe. The aircraft carrier would leave the next day to avoid another attack, and would join its 2 other carriers off of the coast of Blacktopia.
Another airattack or two would be needed to finish the base off. The element of surprise was deadly, however, with Derbarian casualties in the hundreds. Not many Mount Shavano jets and bombers were seen to be hit. However, jet fighters were scrambled and openly engaged Mount Shavano planes in the air. The damage was already done at this point, however, as the port was in flames. A construction and clean up crew would be called in first thing in the morning.

Message to Mount Shavano Government for the Blacktopians
We thank you for your attack on the Derbarian port. Now, however, we must hammer their supply lines. We pledge 2 battleships and one destroyer, but these will not be enough. We will also conduct airraids on their ships, but we do not expect these to be overly effective.
OOC:They weren't nukes. They were conventional ICBMs.
OOC: Ahhhh... I see. Sorry.
------------------
The Derbarian military took off, and started advancing slowly toward the city.
MAP - Attack Plan (http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/gg193/DashieCamel/Blacktopia/pretopia.jpg)
The surrounding rush would be further compounded by Volzgradien support and airstrikes. It would be 1 hour (not RL time) until they first reached the objective.
First Contact
The juggernaut of forces pouring in on all sides swarmed to the city. They were spotted from miles off, since the weather was clear. The roar of the tanks could not even be heard from this distance, but the dirt that they picked up could be seen. The Derbarian men inside the metal monsters were panting, as they were anxious already. KA-29 attack helicopters could be seen from the distance swooping in. There were at least 20 of them. They were moving in an orderly fashion above the infantry and armored units, but were coming in much quicker.
"Fire!!!" screamed a Blacktopian soldier, as a gigantic artillery shell was let lose from a cannon from a Blacktopian fortification. Many of these had been bombed, but there were a few left.
Shells began to explode around the Debarian tanks. These didn't do much damage, except psychologically. The Derbarian infantrymen were now in a full charge, riding in on Humvees and moderately sized jeeps. They were still at least 3000 meters off from the city. Derbarian tanks were firing shells at the city now. Artillery was pounding Blacktopian positions.
The soldiers were now 1000 meters away from the city. The Blacktopians began launching RPG rockets at the incoming Derbarian armor, scoring fatal hits. The KA-29 helicopters reached the city, pouring missiles down below, but anti-air fire had already shot down 5 of them. The war was massive now. The ricochet of bullets and explosions could be heard constantly. The soldiers were 500 meters away, in full charge, when they started getting damaged badly. Blacktopian defenses were more than they had thought.
Hopefully, those attacking from the West thought, that those attacking from the East with Volzgradien support had more luck.
Volzgrad

OOC: In case you didn't see my last post, the missiles I fired weren't nukes. Hence, there wouldn't be any fallout.
1500 hours, East of Pretopia
Even from several miles away, the Volzgradien soldiers could see the fires burning bright in Pretopia. They had recently joined up with a Derbarian force and were preparing themselves for a massive assault against the city. Volzgradien aircraft and missiles were hitting the city with fierce intensity, and the booms of their detonations reached them despite the distance. Unfortunately, reports from the other fronts were everything but good.
Overall, the Volzgradien force was quite large compared to most units in Blacktopia. 18,000 infantry, 800 T-77 main battle tanks, 500 artillery pieces, and 1000 BTR-100 APCs formed the newly dubbed Army Group 1. Hopefully, this force would be able to crush the Blacktopian defenses in the city. Many of the Volzgradiens were both anxious and frightened of the impending orders to advance.
Unlike most Volzgradien soldiers who opted to wear helmets or in rare cases visor caps, Captain Jushkov had chosen to wear a massive fur hat known as a papahka. In a somewhat coincidental nod to his Cossack ancestors, he was the commander of an armored unit, 25 T-77 tanks in total. While most of his crew were playing cards on the back of the tank's hull, Jushkov was inside attending to the radio, waiting for that fateful order. He was just about to doze off when the radio in his hand began to crackle. A shrill voice began to roar "All units, advance and begin the attack on Pretopia! All artillery units are to provide a creeping barrage until my order to cease fire. I repeat all units advance!"
Jushkov immediately sprang into action. Poking his fur hated head out of the cupola, he shouted to his crew, "Come on you lazy bums! Get in here and start moving!" Wasting no time, the crew entered the armored behemoth and got into positions. After a few seconds of button pushing, the T-77 lurched forward in a cloud of dust. The rest of the tank unit followed suit. It was all or nothing, the Volzgradiens were attacking.

Once safely out of range of retaliation, they deployed attack planes to scour a 600 nm radius around the fleet for Derbarian supply ships they could sink. The fleet would maintain these operations until they spotted a serious threat - like one of the Derbarian or Volzgradian carriers - or until BADC naval command decided it was time to move east against the Volzgradian Armada.
Admiral Landry's carrier group launched repeated strikes against Derbarian naval vessels along the west coast, while gradually moving northwards.
The FRN deployed a submarine cordon of 20 fast attack submarines to warn them of the approach of the Volzgradian reinforcements, and make attacks on them if the opportunity presented. Two submarines continued to watch the entrance to the Bay of Stargaria, with orders to report on Volzgradian movements and attack the carrier if it appeared. The remaining 14 had orders to search the north and west coasts and the northern ocean for the heavy Derbarian naval elements.

We thank your nation for offering these supplies. However, our storage areas cannot possibly fit all of these items, and we doubt that yours can either. Therefore, we request that you send the following:
600 pieces of artillery
80 battle tanks
100 apc's
8000 anti tank weapons w/ ammo
30 jet figters
10 heavy bombers
900 surface to air missles
400 humvees
food and medical supplies
OOC: I just cut a 0 from the end. Is this still too much? I don't know much the logistics of something like this, but Volzgrad seems to know more. Also, UD or Patrick, feel free to offer different numbers if this isn't to your liking, or feel that its not enough.
ooc:That makes since. If you want to cut down the numbers any more just go ahead and do it.
OOC: In case you didn't see my last post, the missiles I fired weren't nukes. Hence, there wouldn't be any fallout.

ooc:how were you able to figure how much personel all those supplies would require? Oh add fuel to the list of stuff if you need to.
OOC: If you are referring to me, then it was quite simple. Using my knowledge of military vehicles, I made a sort of "chart" on crew like the one below.
Artillery- 5 men
Tanks- 4 men
Anti-tank weapons- 1 man
Humvee- 2 men
APC- 2 men
I then multiplied the number of crew times the number of equipment/vehicles and voila! I came up with around 117,550.

I suggest that at this time the composition of the board consist of:
VADM Landry, Front Range Navy, Naval Theater Commander
GEN James, Patrick Gentry Army, Ground Theater Commander, Air Theater Commander
This sounds very reasonable for now we shall have no chairman since it is only two nations making up the BADC.
Towards this end I recommend deployment of your ships to the northern ocean, to interdict Derbarian supply lines.
I conquer with your assessment and place Task Force Bravo under your direct command to assist you with the disruption of the supply lines to our enemies. Task Force Alpha will continue its search and destroy mission off the northern western coast of the country. Task force bravo can attempt to blockade the capital port thought I would have to request a third task force to be able to seriously accomplish that mission.
The FRR currently have a reinforced division of Marines (24,000 men) in the city of Lunarosa. They are trained and equipped as well as anyone in the world. I have my government's permission to place them under your command for the duration of this campaign.
This much needed military asset will be immediately airdropped into the city of Pretopia to help reinforce the garrison their after the cowardly ICBM assault on the city that killed thousands of civilians. This act was a shameful and inhumane act that shall serve as an example of the cruel and inhumane tactics of the communist menace. In response to this I am ordering our allied air forces, which operate out of the Luarosa Military Air Base, it take the sky over Pretopia and secure it with a 24/7 presence of allied air power. I am also dropping more SAM missiles to help our allies engage these figheters from teh ground.

This evenings assault on the Balcktopian City of Pretopia has just been reported to the congress of the nation. Our first coarse of action is to most urgently dispatch two diplomatic teams one to the World Assembly to argue against this vicious, immoral, and inhumane attack directed at the CIVILIAN populous of this city.
The second team will be sent to the ambassadors from Volzgrad to relay our disgust and alert them that any further violation of the ground law of war will result in a full retaliation with the remaining might of the military of the Commonwealth amid directly at their nations capital.
War is a terrible thing but the level of disregard toward the rules of ground warfare, that have stood for centuries under the dozens of international treaties, cannot go unnoticed. Due to this blatant violation we hereby declare a state of unconditional war against The United Commonwealth of Volzgrad. 20,000 additional ground forces are being deployed, we are also doubling the air and naval presence in the area.
The slaughter of the people of Pretopia must never again be allowed to happen. Any nation that disregards the protected status of civilans on a battlefield must be destroyed to prevent their genocidal hobbies from ever bringing harm to the innocent again.

That deployment of your naval forces is satisfactory at this time. We have reason to believe that a large Volzgradian naval contingent is en route. When all of our naval elements have arrived, I will take the fleet east to cut them off and establish sufficient naval control for a proper blockade of occupied Blacktopia. When the time comes to move, I will need every available flight deck. The key to carrier battles is to hit first and hardest, as clearly demonstrated by history.
For ease of reference, my task forces will be designated as follows:
VADM Landry, John Patrick Ryan and Reuben James: Task Force 12
VADM Houston, Zebulon Pike and Rodger Young: Task Force 8
VADM Burke, Claus von Stauffenberg and San Jacinto: Task Force 7 (en route from Mount Shavano at this time)
The two battleships and destroyer provided by the Blacktopian Navy will be assigned to Task Force Bravo, which will be deployed as part of the blockade of Slovakograde for the time being.

Do you seriously believe that your nation could do any sort of harm to ours? What's even more astounding is your complete ignorance to the true face of war. The deaths of civilians are just another tragedy in this very screwed up world.
We would like to warn you, Mr. Scott, that any sort of invasion on Volzgradien soil will be met in kind. If you actually do attempt an invasion, your troops would be killed before they even reached our territory! Even if you do manage to gain some sort of bridgehead, our forces easily outnumber yours 9 to 1 (9,450,000 to 1,152,000).

Offical Declaration of the Commonwealth of Patrick Gentry
You are a criminal and a disgrace as a military leader and a human being. The attack on Pretopia is a blatant violation of the ground rules of war.
You attacked a civilian population center without regard for the fact that most of the population and buildings here are civilian not military. You made no attempt to separate military from civilian targets and engaged civilian targets without regard to their protected status under international treaties and the rules of ground warfare.
You counted on their death as a form of attack on the military forces in the city, by killing civilians you hoped to tie up military resources in aiding the illegally attacked civilians. Which is a crime upon itself, and the actions of a person of the lowest moral and professional character.
To make this mass murder even worst, you try and hide behind the current lack of international law when it comes to MOUT (that's Military Operation in Urban Terrain). Your nation is nothing more than a pack of cowardly communist criminals. Your military is a organization of terrorists and organized criminals.
The Commonwealth of Patrick Gentry is 100% committed to the cause of stopping your cowardly and brutal assault on this peaceful nation. We will also do everything within our power to see your WA membership revoked and numerous international sanctions placed upon your nation for this unprecedented and horrendous act against the people of Blacktopia.
Our nation still condemns this attack as a cowardly and disgraceful, and promises a full retaliatory attack against The United Commonwealth of Volzgrad. We warn that you do not underestimate our military might or resolve.
We doubt that you will feel remorse about your actions this day but understand that this actions is unacceptable by any nation and will be treated by my nation as a National Security threat of the highest priority.
Armed Forces are demanded to show the most moral and professional resolve, your actions today show your total lack to these qualities.

Patrick Gentry i've studied the rules and there is nothing that talks about civilians being killed during a war or other armed conflict.
OOC: I loved that response. He captured the "heated, pissed off leaders" perfectly. You have to admit, Volzgrad did fire ICBM's at a civilian area, even though the Derbarians already badly pounded the whole city with artillery. This is RPing at its best.
Field Report from the outskirts of Pretopia.
The 10th and 11th Derbarian armored division are holding off for further bombardment. It turns out that defenses were stronger than expected. We have lost 12 KA-29s, and 5 more have been damaged.
We request multiple Volzgradien airstrikes on various Blacktopian positions.
Meanwhile, some progress is being made to the south, but pushing forward is not going to be easy. Our Joint Strike Force (OOC: Or at least the Derbarians, since I can't tell Volzgrad what to do, obviously) have reached the outskirts of the city, but casualties were severe on our (the Derbarians) side. We had lost 500 men from one attack, when Blacktopian infantrymen brought out anti-tank rockets and .50 caliber machine guns against our charging forces. We will ramp up and get them tommorrow.

Btw, that wraps up week 2. Week 3 Map coming up soon.

Message to Derbarian Command
Your request for air support is confirmed and passed. Aircraft are already on their way to bomb designated Blacktopian positions. Our troops have made some progress, we have reached what appears to be the first Blacktopian defensive line on the outskirts of Pretopia. Unfortunately, our forces sustained 322 personnel casualties and 15 vehicle casualties.
Both the 16th and 5th Field Artillery Regiments (50 120mm howitzers overall) have been brought up to the frontline over the last 2 hours. As with the air support, our artillery has begun shelling Blacktopian strongholds and defenses. During the next assault, a large creeping barrage will hopefully serve as useful cover for our ground troops. As a side note, reinforcements will be arriving within 2 days (10 RL hours) time.

Meat Grinder
It was dawn, and a Derbarian General awoke to a sleeping camp. No rockets had fallen that night, as the Blacktopians were ramping up for a second offensive from the Derbarians. Suddenly, an alarm rang in the camp for every soldier to get up and go to their stations. This was immediate.
It took about 10 minutes for every soldier to get in order and be accounted for. They all rushed to their convoy. Thus was the start of Operation Meat Grinder - a massive Western assault on the base to drive Derbarians toward the East so that Volzgradien airstrikes could have a better shot at them.
"Wow..." said one of the Derbarian soldiers, looking up. There was a massive wall of KA-29's and Hinds incoming toward the city. The battleplan was to drop soldiers on various buildings, have them secure different parts of the city, and allow Volzgradien soldiers an easier path in. The time to break defenses was now, when they were at their weakest.
"Rock on!" yelled one of the Derbarians, Private Yuri, cocking his weapon (AK-101). Unlike yesterday, and even more massive wall of tanks was coming in. You couldn't even see the end of the mass of force.
Once against, rockets began ripping into Derbarian tanks around Yuri. He looked over to a humvee moving next to his, which one second later burst into flames as an RPG ripped right through its windshield. The main gunner's body went flying 50 feet in the air, and landed on the ground and was pulverized under the barrage of moving armor.
The KA-29s and Hinds were quicker this time, and reached the city first. Anti-Air was massive. When the first Hind went down, it was a grim glimpse at reality. Multiple .60 caliber and .50 caliber bullets had ripped into the Hind's hull. Mutliple soldiers were shredded by the high damage bullets before the Hind even crashed. When it did, it spiraled into a nearby bombed out building, creating a massive fireball.
Just as the Hind crashed, and RPG ripped through the Tail of a KA-29. It too spiraled out, and crashed in the rubble below. There were still 10 Hinds and 20 KA-29s left. When one Hind dropped down to land, and RPG split right into its side, killing many of the soldiers inside. A second hind came down to land.
"Okay! Get out!" yelled the pilot, when a .60 caliber bullet took his co-pilot and his head off from the same bullet. A 2-man weapon position was spraying the Hind, and soldiers were losing heads and limbs left and right. Only 3 men made it off of the building, and into cover, only to be taken out by a Blacktopian sniper because they were exposed.
The Fourth Hind to get hit happened because it missed its mark. It drifted, crashing into a nearby building, causing a huge fireball. KA-29s wrecked havoc on the city, raining down missiles, causing Blacktopians to run in fear.
Yuri and the men around him had now reached the city. It was the biggest firefight even the most veteran of soldiers had ever seen. 100 Derbarians were easily chewed up in one minute when the units first entered the city, because they never noticed the overlapping gun positions in bombed out buildings where they were entering. The area was just a barrage of bombed out vehicles and dead bodies. They had eventually, however, made it within the city, but not far. Technicals, APCs, and weapon systems were slicing through the Derbarian Humvees. RPGs were blasting Derbarian armor, which were performing horribly in the city environment.
30 Tanks out of about 100 were taken out. A small slice fo the city was taken. The Derbarians were pinned down, and were looking for some Volzgradien air support to help them out. They stopped for the time being.

The roar of jet engines filled the sky as a squadron (14) SU-47s flew over the ruins of Pretopia. With only the occasional stinger missile to worry about, it was an easy affair in penetrating the Blacktopians' defenses. Despite the altitude and speed of the aircraft, the stunned pilots could still see the massacre going on below.
"This is Red Leader to Command HQ, what are your orders?" inquired Captain Kovalyev as he and his squadron readied missiles. They were now only a few dozen kilometers away from their targets. Several seconds passed before a response came, "This is Command, arm all missiles and fire at designated targets. Those Derbarians need air support." Kovalyev hastily relayed the orders to his squad as they chose their targets. "All units... fire!" he roared as the squadron let loose almost 60 napalm missiles toward the Blacktopian defenses.

Press Release from the Office of the President
The Front Range Republic strongly objects to the World Assembly's interference in the affairs of sovereign nations. The material support of free nations is often critical to the continued existence of other such countries, and aggressor nations will not be deterred by something as simple as words on paper. To the United Dependencies we say this: Volzgrad has publicly stated their desire and support for a world communist revolution. That means, sooner or later, they wish the see your state overthrown and replaced with one in their own image. Derbaria has invaded a free, sovereign country for no other reason than to seize its resources. In doing so, they are responsible for the deaths of thousands of innocent people. The best time to stop them, the best time to end the threat to every country in the region, the best chance to show the World Assembly that to protect peace and freedom you must give more than flowery speeches, is now! Stand with us against the communist tyranny! Together we are strong! Together we will win!

ooc: does that need to be made anymore clear?
OOC: Patrick Gentry, are you in Pretopia? If so, you can RP being attacked by the Derbarians if you want. They have no doubt reached you by now.
----------
The war was really starting to pick up now. The Derbarians spotted Patrick Gentry troops, and began firing on them. The assault on the city, despite the landing of all 60 napalm missiles which charred many Derbarians, was still not going well. The Blacktopian forces were beginning to wane, and were definately show signs of defeat. However, with chalks from Patrick Gentry landing, the battle may soon be up for a change for the better for the Blacktopians.
Only 3 of the 10 Hinds made it to the ground, and 1 made it out to get back to base. Anti-aircraft fire was thick. Of the 3 Hinds that were able to land units, 50 troops made it to a suitable point to exchange fire with the Blacktopians. Therefore, all and all, the landing was an absolute failure. The ground war was having better luck, however, with help from the Volzgradiens.
------
Contact with Patrick Gentry forces
A runner met up with Patrick Gentry chalks that landed, holding a white flag.
"Hello!" yelled the runner, making it to a higher up while out of breath. "The city is showing signs of falling! We are holding out the best that we can, but supplies are low. I see that you all made it here in one piece! That's what those Derbarian bastards get for not reinforcing the South!"
"Yes sir!" yelled the runner, answering a question that a Patrick Gentry soldier asked. Then he informed them, "word tells me that Blacktopian armor is going to push straight up through the North and get us here. The south is barely reinforced, so that they will no doubt be sucessful. We'll get supplies in. We'll be fine!" With that, the runner ran back toward his unit with an unknown fate.
----------
Meanwhile to the East
"Volzgradiens!" yelled a Blacktopian soldier, spraying machinegun fire on incoming soldiers. Various soldiers were perched in bombed out buildings with RPGs. In an organized fashion, the soldiers let loose 5 RPGs. The Blacktopians were firing all that they had at the Volzgradiens. Cannon, MK19 grenade, and high caliber weaponry made a thick night sky completely lit up. The city was covered in smoke and fire from the Volzgradien napalm.
"We may have to pull back!" yelled a soldier. They were going to run back a block because the Volzgradiens were pressing forward. They did so. Casualties were quite heavy for both Derbarians and Blacktopians in the East (but had nothing on the West). The Volzgradiens would likely be running over dead bodies left and right, some completely disembowled or missing their heads.
The plan was to eventually and possibly pull back to the South. An armored unit was pushing here, but it was possibly their only hope.

"Not one step backward Comrades, Pretopia will be ours!" roared Commissar Colinov as he waved his saber toward the waning Blacktopian positions. Despite there being little use for a saber in modern warfare, it gave officers a feeling of "honor" and reminded most of the good old times. Enemy fire had picked up steadily as the Volzgradien forces advanced, the air was almost made of hot lead as they reached the main defenses. Despite initial estimates, the napalm had been shockingly effective against the Blacktopians. Charred corpses covered the ground and thick, black smoke filled the air in the foes' defensive line.
For all the odds stacked against them, the Blacktopians were surprisingly stubborn in their defense. Their outdated RPG-7s were easily blocked by the thick armor and reactive bricks of the T-77s. However, several RPGs had struck infantry and APCs, which lacked heavy armor and protection. At least 7 BTR-100s were now nothing more then smoking heaps of rubble, while corpses of infantry covered the ground in crimson blood. With the Blacktopian strongholds clearly marked by the thick smoke from the RPGs, the Volzgradiens wasted no time in turning their defenses into rubble. Blacktopian soldiers out in the open for even a few seconds were turned into bloody chunks of meat by the heavy fire coming from the Volzgradien force.
With only a few scattered pockets of Blacktopian defenses remaining on the front line, the Volzgradiens pushed deeper into Pretopia in hopes of destroying the Capitalists from the inside out.

The Derbarian port was already in the process of being rebuilt, but another attack by Mount Shavano was feared. The port was put on high alert. However, it would be 2 more weeks until it was operational again. The supply line was already showing strain. The Derbarians had enough ammo for now, but the Generals were beginning to become worried, especially with all of the rounds fired off in Pretopia. Mount Shavano had to be held off now, or else. It was indeed a serious situation.
Message to all nations supporting Derbaria:
We are in serious need of support on our supply lines. Mount Shavano is attacking them, and our force will become unsustainable if help does not arrive soon. A battleship that survived the Mount Shavano attack last week was lost last night, as the damage was too much. After several assessments, the ship was finally sank using explosives, and all crew members boarded the DSS Klein, which came to pick them up. The situation at sea is grim. The loss of the DSS Fuller is devastating because we cannot replace it. All of our ships are now at sea, and our only warehoused ship, the DSS Splint, was damaged in Mount Shavano operations. Nope - it's just getting started actually. Welcome.
Just make an in character post stating that your troops are leaving, and after that, maybe where you plan to land (South of the island is suggested), or if you want to wage a sea campaign like Mount Shavano, or air, or anything like that.

"Farwell, friend." Said a man, waving to what seemed like one of his friends. The car took off with a screech. The driver inside had sweat visibly pouring down from his face. As he stopped at stoplight after stoplight, he did not raise any suspicion. No eyes were on him, until he got to a United Dependencies check point. It looked like they were handing out food.
Suddenly, the man pressed his foot down on the petal. He screamed at the top of his lungs as the van flew at the soldiers at over 60 mph. The soldiers had an astonished look on their face, and raised to fire at the van, but it was took late. The driver pressed a detonation button, and a large, deafening explosion roared throughout the city. Debris was everywhere. There was practically nothing left of the van, and all that could be seen on the block of the explosion was death and destruction.
(OOC: If you don't like this or want it to happen, let me know, I'll RP something else.)

IC: Men and vehicles were moving about every where. The marines were ushering the wounded in to vehicles to be taken away to the field hospital. Meanwhile in the basement headquarters Col. Peterson directed the chaotic movements of the troops. "Where did the blast come from" he shouted to his aid. "well sir early reports indicate that it was somekind of bomb," was the reply. "Any idea who?". "No sir colonel but do to the relative location of Derbarian forces that is who we suspect it might be."The colonel stared at a map of the country covered with symbols "looks like they might be suicide bombing us to get us to leave. Question is we can't attack without invalidating our neutrality." The colonel ponderd for a bit longer then finally came to a conclusion. "Send Tanks up the road to keep vehicles out and check every person coming in for a weapon of any kind. If you see anything suspicious shoot first and ask questions later. Make sure that every civilian here knows the new rules." "yessir i'll report the orders imediatly. Oh and i thought you might want to know that todays convoy that was supposed to be here has not shown up as scheduled."
"What!? Send word to the admiral tell him we need more soldiers and we want to know where that convoy went. Oh and get him to contact our neighbors to the north and find out whats going on."

Colinov's heart was now pounding as he charged after the cowering Blacktopian soldiers. Behind him, he could hear the steady roar of Volzgradien tanks and the rythimic pounding of booted feet. They had now reached the heavily defended inner parts of Pretopia. However while the Blacktopian soldiers in the frontline were regular infantry, the inner defenses were maned by only poorly armed and trained militia. In typical Commissar fashion, Colinov was now assured of a quick victory.
Compared to the dark khaki uniforms of his soldiers, Colinov's coat was a solid black leather. Even though this easily singled him out, it also inspired the Volzgradiens to fight harder in the clear presence of a Political Commissar. Colinov had just rounded a "corner" (really the edge of a barely standing apartment complex), when he came under fierce fire. He and his entourage quickly raced toward cover as hot lead flew around them like flies on a cadaver. It took several seconds for Colinov to realize that they were being fired on with bolt-action rifles. Despite the grave situation, Colinov let out a small laugh as he realized how poorly equipped these militia really were.
The roar of an engine and falling pieces of loose masonry quickly alerted him of an approaching T-77. Sure enough the bulky behemoth showed itself after rounding the same corner that Colinov had come through. Sparks flew off the T-77's steel hull as it turned to face the Blacktopian position. The cannon of the tank roared as it fired an anti-personnel shell toward the militia's position.

There is a division of Shavanese Marines in Pretopia, based on the best of my information. They are under PGA command.
I still have submarines watching the movements of the Volzgradian navy near Stargaria, and ~30 watching for the arrival of more reinforcements from his homeland. I don't know if subs are shown on map.
UD, I believe green indicates neutral or disputed cities.
NW of the Blacktopian mainland.
All three FRN task forces had met up, and now headed east separated from each other by only a few dozen miles. The plan was to travel east and launch a massive airstrike on the harbor facilities of Slovakograde, which was already blockaded by PGN and Blacktopian Navy forces, then turn and follow the enemy supply line north. They would sink any enemy ships they saw along the way with airstrikes from their 510 combat aircraft or with a cruise missiles from their 72 surface combatants. Special priority was to be given to supply ships and to transports. Simply put, the plan was to sweep a corridor of sea 1200 nautical miles wide on a line from Blacktopia to Derbaria absolutely clean...

While your primary objective of course must remain the battle for Pretopia, it may be a good idea to hit the occupied port of Stargaria with a formation of stealth bombers. The key to modern war is logistics, and the enemy posses only two ports. I believe that most Volzgradian supplies enter the country there, and damage the port itself, the tied up ships, or the supplies on the docks could impede them considerably.

Live News Report From President Clarke Military City
Reporter- "As you can see behind me, the Oseaton Navy appears to be sortieing. So far we've seen 3 Wasp Class Amphibious Assault ships and the Nimitiz Carrier, ONS Theodore Johnston head out to sea. It appears that several other escorts are preparing for action as well. We've seen several squadrons of aircraft being transferred from their land bases to the Johnston. We're also seeing a lot of troop transport aircraft taking off from the airfields further inland. Several people have speculated that the first elements of the 1st Shock Army are being airlifted to an unknown area. The 13th Airborne Division and 5th Infantry Division are the units rumored to be airlifted while the 1st and 2nd Mechanized Brigades are transported to their points of embarkation.
President Hamilton is scheduled to make an address to the nation later tonight, hopefully that speech will shed light on the actions being taken by the Oseaton Military.

ONS Theodore Johnston, Oseaton 1st Fleet, Steaming Toward Blacktopia
Admiral Jake Toland sighed as he sat down in the command chair in the CIC of the Nimitz Class Carrier ONS Theodore Johnston. This would mark the 3rd time in a year and half, and the 2nd time in 4 months, that the Oseaton 1st Fleet would be deployed to a hot spot around the world. This time would be different though, this time the full might of Oseaton military would be deployed into the fight. Oseato had been looking to make it's mark on the world stage for some time, meeting only disappointment in it's single major adventure. Toland himself sought to make up for the mistakes made in that conflict, this was his chance. General Zackary Hamilton, the President of the Oseaton Federation, had placed Toland in overall command of Oseaton forces in this theatre.
"Who is the commander of the 1st Shock Army?" he asked of his intelligence chief.
"That would General Wilhelm Hammond, sir." was the answer.
"Tell him that he is to provide an attache to the allied command in Blacktopia, preferably the deputy commander of the 13th Airborne Division." Toland needed an experience officer to liaise with Allied forces in Blacktopia in order to mount an effective defense of what territory was still in Blacktopian hands.
"And find out when those mech brigades are going to reach port, we need armor!" Toland exclaimed as he slammed his fist on the theatre map.
Oseato's military was finally about to be battle tested.

OOC: Just one. Green just = neutral. And I messed up anyway because the invaders control that city.
The Tank shell fired by the Volzgradiens exploded, killing 3 militiamen instantly. The rest fired wildly with their AK-47s but hit nothing. They then fell back even further, hoping that Patrick Gentry or Mount Shavano forces would move forward to repell the continuing Volzgradien advance.
On the Western side, Derbarian armor and infantry was still advancing. The Derbarians launched a huge offensive last night with KA-29s and ground forces, leading to heavy casualties on the Derbarians. Some ground was gained, however, and this attack caused the Blacktopian infantry to the West of the city to have a severe shortage of supplies.
The Blacktopian infantry unit, or whatever was left of it, had merely 500 RPG-7 rockets left, rounds in only the thousands, and only a fraction of working weapon emplacements that they had before. If they were going to receive help, they would need it now.

"Fire!" yelled the mortarmen commander, as another mortar attack occured on Stargaria. "Fools, don't they learn?" chuckled Captain Vasilov as he peered at the well hidden mortar teams through a large bulletproof window in his Aerofrigate. He turned quickly and approached the comms-terminal. "This is Captain Vasilov to all units, fire at will." he said calmly as he put the spoke into the radio. After a few seconds of readying, the Volzgradien Aerofrigates fired a deadly barrage of 40mm autocannon rounds toward the vulnerable mortar teams.
The rounds were striking the mortars teams, but they still stayed to fire a couple more rounds. The aim was to cause as much damage as possible, and then get out of there before air support could take them out.
The mortar teams once again found themselves running for the hills, avoiding the blistering 40mm autocannon rounds. Casualties were light for the Blacktopians compared to the last mortar operation, but it was hoped that Volzgradien air power wouldn't follow them back to their escape vehicles.
Col. Peterson studied the map of the city with the building highlighted on it. There was a lookout outside of the terrorist building, who was smoking a cigarette. He had an AK-47 strapped onto his shoulder, but it was normal for Blacktopians to openly carry weapons.
"Anything?" said a soldier, coming out to check on the lookout.
"Nothing." said the lookout.
Inside, the terrorists were putting together another bomb; this time much more powerful, that would be used as a possible attack on more UD soldiers. Little did they know they their plans were about to be foiled.

Despite Vasilov's wishes, he knew he could not follow the Blacktopians. Due to heavy bombardment and lack of resupply, 40mm rounds were becoming very scarce. The next resupply was due in 1 day, so hopefully the next time the fools attacked, Vasilov could finish them off.

Lunarosa, Blacktopia
Colonel Irving Dowling, XO of the 13th Airborne Division, watched as the first elements of 5th Infantry Division disembarked their chartered commercial flights. Oseato's military airlift capacity was being used to ferry the 13th Airborne Division, with Dowling, closer to the frontlines near Stargaria. Unfortunately these would be the only forces available for a while until 1st and 2nd Mechanized were sealifted to the country. They were still several days away from docking at the ports in Lunarosa.
A young lieutenant walked over to Dowling with a message from General Hammond. "Gen. Hammond wants you to report to the allied command here in Blacktopia, you'll be the liaison for our forces here. He says it's vital that we coordinate our movement with them in order to defend against the Derbarian onslaught."
Dowling only hoped that the Oseaton Navy and armored forces would arrive soon so that he would be able to give the Blacktopians and their allies some good news for a change.

The rumble of tank engines filled the ruin choked streets of Pretopia as the 6th Volzgradien Armor Regiment entered the city. With the majority of the city cleared by infantry and motor rifles, it was time that the armored forces got a bit of action. Overall, 100 T-77 Main Battle Tanks were entering Pretopia for battle, while around 200 remained in reserve. Despite the volume of rubble on the streets, the mighty steel behemoths made their way regardless.
Like a scene from a propaganda film, Colonel Starski was waving his saber toward the remains of the Blacktopian line. With this sector of the city clear, there were only a few very small pockets of Blacktopian resistance. Despite their impending doom, several Blacktopian militia armed with RPG-7s and Kar98Ks began to fire wildly at the tank formation from a large apartment block. Almost all 17 RPGs were aimed at the lead tank, which was soon turned into a blazing ball of fire. However, the gunmens' positions were clearly marked by the thick plumes of white smoke. Without a second thought, the Volzgradien tanks turned and began firing accurately toward the surprisingly intact building.

OOC:
Patrick Gentry or Blacktopia will have to be the ones to deal with the supplies. I have neither the authority to seize it nor the troops to man it.
Remaining Allied Pretopia:
Communications in the besieged city had broken down for the BDAC some time before. The general in charge of the FREF marine division hadn't known where to best commit his troops to the fighting, but he knew that his allies were retreating on all fronts. Well, he hadn't come here to watch other people lose a war. He had reoriented his people right into the path of the Volzgradian advance a day ago, and set up the best defense he could. He chose a long, wide N-S boulevard to give him the best possible field of fire, then demolished all the buildings on the west side (after evacuating the civilians, of course) since rubble provided better cover than standing buildings - and couldn't be knocked down on you. His flanks were anchored with the best terrain he could find - a river at one end (if there isn't a river in Petropia, I'll change that) and a wrecked warehouse at the other, the rubble now full of marines. The sewer tunnel under the middle of the road was liberally laced with explosives, which would be detonated when the first Volzgradian elements showed up. It would also provide an impromptu anti-tank ditch. His main concern was his relative lack of armor, since his arsenal had little else that could pierce the frontal armor on a Volzgradian T-77. He would just have to rely heavily on close air support, scrambling from bases in Lunarosa.
Meanwhile, from the rubble the marines could see Blacktopian stragglers retreating across the road, and hear the rumble of tanks in the distance. It wouldn't be long now...

Message to the Mount Shavano government from Blacktopian forces:
We would like to set up a huge ambush on Derbarian and Volzgradien forces when they reach the center of the city. There is not much left to work with, but we have many pounds of unused C4, and Claymore Mines. Please advise if you want to join for a joint Defensive ambush on the invaders.
Operation Rolling Thunder
To: All Blacktopian supporting nations.
From: Blacktopian Government
Operation Rolling Thunder is in effect for all areas of the theater. A push will be made with Blacktopian Armor to free the South area of Pretopia for retreating units. The goal of the operation is to prevent units in Pretopia from being overrun from surrounding forces, and allow them to access supply lines. Projections state that all units will be out of ammunition within this week.
Resistance is expected to be moderate, with two infantry division, and one artillery division blocking the supply line route to Pretopia. The Blacktopian army will push forward with 6 Armored units and 1 Infantry Unit, greatly outnumbering the Derbarians. Once Pretopia is reached, a full assault by Infantry will occur on Derbarian armored units, hopefully surrounding them within the city. We ask that Mount Shavano and Patrick Gentry hold the armor in their place until supporting armor forces can arrive.
The militia in the building that were firing against Volzgradien forces were using RPG-7s to hold the tanks off. Smoke, however, was marking their positions, which made returning fire on the Volzgradien armor difficult. The building had somehow survived a little under a month of massive bombing, and was now a good place for snipers to set up and pick off Volzgradien soldiers. The tank shelling, however, was taking its toll, taking out various rocketmen and snipers from the militia.
A Volzgradien BTR was seen crossing through a small corridor of debris (bombed out buildings on both sides). Two Blacktopian militiamen emerged from the rubble, and both fired RPGs at the BTR, hoping that they would strike a hit.
Meanwhile, a running militiaman made a good find. He found a fully functional .60 caliber machine gun laying in the dirt. He had 3 fellow militiamen set the gun up in rubble that was slightly elevated, aimed though the sights, and began to fire on the charging Volzgradiens. He would no doubt not live long, but he wanted to take a couple with him, and the .60 caliber, armor piercing bullets were perfect for the job.
Volzgrad
29-07-2008, 21:15
Despite the BTR's heavy armor, two RPGs fired at close range were simply impossible to stop. While the BTR was not completely destroyed, it was immobilized and its commander was killed. Filled with vengeance, the dying driver of the BTR commandeered the 40mm autocannon and began to fire at the hated Blacktopian militia.
At first, the 60. caliber machine gun was an unexpected surprise to the tank units. While the frontal armor of a T-77 could withstand it, the much more vulnerable tracks made fairly easy targets. Quickly noticing the increase of enemy fire in that area, one of the battle scarred T-77s turned and fired a cannon shell toward the machine gunners' position. There was almost no chance that they would survive.
South of Pretopia
Despite initial estimates, the Blacktopian army south of Pretopia was actually moving. Fearing a massive counterattack, the Volzgradien Navy docked at Stargaria quickly launched its contingent of aircraft to slow the armor column down. The now resupplied Aerofrigates, which were only a few dozen kilometers away, had already begun firing. While the 40mm autocannon was mostly designed to take out infantry and buildings, it proved somewhat useful for tank hunting.

The owner of the building is named Yuri Oslova.
Oh dear it seems we have run into a problem. We were never planning to make an attack but instead we wanted to set a trap around the building in which we could bring down the people the next time they tried to exit the building. We will need plans for the building to see if there are any alternate means of escape where we should post soldiers or snipers that way the terrorist may not leave the building. We hope to have this situation resolved before any more harm can come to your city. Also very soon more soldiers will be arriving to expand the boarders of the town so we can make room for the influx of refugees from all the other war torn cities. In addition we would like your permission to build an airfield to the west of the city. Finally we ask that you could start an investigation into this Yuri Oslova as to determine who he is and what his intentions are. And if he has any more buildings owned in the area. Thank you for your cooperation.

Nearly 230 UH-60 Blackhawks loaded with troopers from the 13th Airborne descended toward the outskirts of the city. Colonel Dowling, recently back from Allied headquarters, was in one of the first helo's to hit the LZ. Usually colonels didn't go into combat themselves, but for Dowling simply would not sit back at Division HQ while his unit made it's first move into action.
The choppers split up to head to their respective landing zones. As the Blackhawks flared out for landing, Colonel Dowling signaled for the men in his helicopter to prepare for dismount. The troopers had out their G36Ks and hit the ground running. Several AT squads began to orient themselves to cover the likely approaches that any armor might take while the rest of the soldiers fanned out in order to establish a defense perimeter.
"Sir, we're getting reports of Volzgradien Naval gunfire, several Blacktopian units are falling back toward our position" yelled Dowling's radioman.
"All right, advise Admiral Toland of the situation and tell them we need their air support" directed Dowling. Dowling then moved off and began to issue orders that would send 13th Airborne into the breach.

Official Communique from the Volzgradien Government
To: All Nations Involved in the Blacktopian Conflict
From: President Vasili Kavinkov
Despite our ideological and national differences, I believe that this conflict could be solved much easier with words then bullets. Countless people, both soldiers and civilians, have died needlessly in this war. If a compromise could be reached, then we could put this whole fiasco behind us and advance toward the future.
It is for this reason, that we would like to propose a multi-national meeting in neutral territory. Representatives from every nation could go forth and speak diplomatically. Conflict has torn us apart brutally, but peace could bring us closer then ever. On that note, my government has recently passed a bill declaring the court martial of one "General Mariusz Kozolawski". He was the one responsible for needlessly bombing civilian targets during the attack on Stargaria. Volzgradien engineers and peacekeepers are already working on bringing Stargaria and the surround area back to normal condition.
Sincerely,
President Vasili Kavinkov

You have all seen the recent Volzgradian communique. The Front Republic believes that a negotiated settlement is acceptable as long as it accomplishes our original war aim, the complete removal of communist forces from Blacktopia. We will not, however, agree to ceasefire or talks without the consensus of BDAC members. Further, we must discuss the possibility that this may be a ploy to allow Volzgrad time to reinforce, resupply, and regroup.

The Front Range Republic will agree to the meeting, provided that all nations engaged in the conflict will be present. The roar of jet engines filled Col. Dowling's ears. He glanced up to see the 36 F-35's off the Johnston cruising toward the Volzgradien naval units. Dowling quickly decided this would be a great time to sow havoc among Volzradien ground forces. "Call up the Apache's, tell them to go hunting!" Since the 13th was an airborne division they had no organic artillery support, relying solely on the firepower of the AH-64D Apaches attached to their unit. It was time for the 13th to begin the liberation of Stargaria.
Over Stargaria
The F-35's flashed over the city skyline making a beeline for the harbor. Each F-35 was armed with 2 Harpoon anti-ship missiles specially outfitted to fit inside the bomb bay of the aircraft. The EA-6B Prowlers in attendance poured jamming across the airwaves in an attempt to keep the Volzgradien naval units from getting a lock on the already stealthy design profile of F-35.
"This is Talon Flight Lead to all Talon units, arm your missiles and prepare to fire on my command. Fire in 3....2....1....Now!" 2, 4, 72 missiles in total leaped into the air and began to track on the Volzgradien fleet. The first major Oseaton offensive operation was underway.

The fleet was in a frenzy. Only mere seconds ago, a massive fleet of missiles were launched from Oseatan aircraft. Thankfully, since the majority of the aircraft were bombing Pretopia, the fleet was on high alert. Wasting no time, the Volzgradien Dreadnoughts and Escorts turned their guns and missile pods toward the encroaching Oseatan aircraft.
Despite the many kilometers of difference between the fleet and the inbound missiles, countless dots of fire showed their approach. Frigates and Destroyers quickly activated their EMP countermeasures in a desperate attempt in shooting down the missiles. If electronics failed, countless vulcan cannons waited for the missiles to get into range.
Seconds ticked by like years before the missiles came close enough to be fired upon. In one blinding moment, almost 200 hundred Gatling guns opened fire. In stark contrast to the blinding rate of fire of the Gatling guns, the EMP blasts (designed to fry the targeting computer and render the missile "dumb") sent invisible shock waves toward the aggressors.
Countless of the missiles detonated in mid air, showering the ruins of Stargaria in thick black smoke. Many of the missiles simply fell harmlessly or corkscrewed out of the way as the EMP set about its work. Despite this, many of the missiles hit their targets. The sound of explosions and tearing steel permeated around the Volzgradien fleet as the vessels were hit.

Caught Out
Operation Rolling Thunder continued, with Blacktopian tanks smashing Derbarian infantry. The Blacktopian force was vastly underestimated, with 6 armored units rolling through the central plains of Blacktopia.
----------
"Sir! We've got incoming!" yelled a Derbarian soldier, as tank shells blasted a Derbarian APC moments ago. The armor was coming in fast. Derbarians soldiers fired back with RPG-7 rockets, striking some fatal hits. With one infantry unit vs. 6 armored units rolling over the hills, the odds were never fair to begin with.
The Derbarian soldiers found themselves retreating, but unfortunately, the Blacktopian tanks surrounded and massacred them. This was also true of the artillery unit that was aimed toward Pretopia. The attack was a loophole in the battleplans that none of the Generals saw. However, Derbarian armor was alerted to their presence, and would act accordingly.
The whole unit was within radio contact for the whole day, but suddenly, that contact drew silent. Nobody knew what the hell happened. Of course, field infantrymen kept the Generals updated on the situation, and it was known to be a dire one. However, Generals believed that the men were exaggerating when they said 6 armor units were hammering through the plains. The goal now, hopefully with Volzgradien support, would be to prevent the Derbarians from making it to Pretopia.
------------------
Message to all Supports of the Derbarian cause
All members - you are to prevent those incoming armors from making contact with enemy forces in Pretopia. This is essential. We need airstrikes badly. With some help, we believe that this threat can be repelled, but sadly, we cannot do it alone.
In Pretopia...
The tank shell exploded the .60 cal gunner and his weapon almost immediately. His support man was also killed instantly. The other two attackers were killed by the vengeful BTR gunner, who sprayed them and dismembered them with precision shots.
Meanwhile, at the advancing armor...
Before, during, and after the attack, Volzgradien jets began to rain down fire on the advancing armor. The airstrikes immobilized several tanks, sending hot metal and pieces of tank flying high into the air. However, the force was still at 75% strength, and would move again tommorrow. They would attempt to move fast, hoping that the Volzgradien airforce wouldn't tear them apart before, or if they made it to Pretopia.

OOC: Just a note, but a flight of even a squadron of ground attack fighters could devastate even a large tank army. Believe me when I say that planes can do more then just immobilize. If I were a Blacktopian commander, I would deploy several mobile SAM units among the tank units. They aren't terribly useful, but at least they would cause some casualties.
The screech of jet engines and the deafening booms of missiles filled the air as the Volzgradien flight of 150 SU-47 aircraft descended on the advancing Blacktopian armored column. On the ground, the situation appeared truly grim. Entire Derbarian divisions were being wiped off the map in only a few hours. Thankfully for them, the Volzgradien Red Cavalry came. While the massive Volzgradien Navy coped with the Oseatons, it was the aircraft that were put in charge of defeating the rapidly advancing Blacktopians.
"This is Red Leader to all squadrons. Aim for the front and rear tank columns. We might just be able to box these Capitalists in." spoke Captain Alexandrovich as he fired a pair of Hunter-Killer missiles. The booms of detonating Blacktopian tanks confirmed his dual kills. The first couple of squadrons had now passed over the Blacktopian lines. Already, almost 400 missiles had been fired at the Blacktopians. However, now was the time for the main assault. While the vanguard SU-47s were equipped with only anti-tank missiles, the center squadrons were equipped with uncountable amounts of cluster munitions.
While, an anti-tank missile could only destroy one or two opposing vehicles, two large bombs filled with cluster anti-tank "flechettes" could potentially wipe out a tank division. The center of the Volzgradien aerial armada was just above the middle and front of the Blacktopians when they released their payloads. Almost 800 of these cluster bombs were dropped on the helpless Blacktopian armor below. The results would be devastating indeed.

25 AH-64D Apaches roared over the rubble that was left of Stargaria. They several stopped and hovered as they searched for the Volzgradien troops stationed inside the city. When as Volgradien position was verified the Apaches would unleash a barrage of 2.75in rockets toward the position. Once they were satisfied that they had suppressed the position, the Apaches moved on.
Watching this, Colonel Dowling hoped that the positions were actually suppressed and not just playing dead to avoid another bombardment. It was him and his troopers that would actually have to go in and clean out the position. Suddenly automatic rifle fire rattled off to the right.
"Get those mortars set up!" screamed Dowling, "Remember pin and maneuver! Keep them in their holes and their heads down." Dowling began directing his troops in order to flank the position. 13th Airborne and Oseaton forces were decisively engaged.

Luckily their aircraft were on their own missions when we hit them, else our force might have been bounced before they could launch their missiles" reported the operations officer in the CIC. Admiral Toland nodded in acknowledgment. Next time they wouldn't get away with it as easily and Toland certainly wasn't going to be caught like the Volzgradien Fleet had.
"Energize all radars, send up the remaining F-35's, arm them with anti-air missiles to establish a CAP. Alert the allied command of what we are doing."
The Oseaton Fleet steamed onward to their rendezvous with the allied fleet.

Shocked by the presence of Oseatan infantry in Stargaria, the Volzgradien garrison wasted no time in trying to eliminate them. Previously dormant Volzgradien anti-aircraft weapons roared to life as they shot missile after missile toward the Oseatan Apaches. Several antiquated Tunguska AA vehicles opened blistering fire upon the vulnerable helicopters.
Volzgradien infantry and tanks were soon scrambled to push out the Oseatan aggressors. Having clearly been sent in by air, the Volzgradiens doubted that the Oseatans possessed any substantial anti-tank defense. However, several Volzgradien units were already engaged in heavy combat with the Oseatans. Despite heavy bombardment from Apache helicopters, much of Stargaria was already rubble so their rockets to relatively little damage.
Pvt. Kovalyov panted heavily as he fired another deadly burst of machine gun fire upon the surprised Oseatans. Well hidden and defended in the ruins of a bank, Kovalyov and his squad poured massive amounts of accurate automatic fire. Several nearby mortar teams had begun shelling the Oseatans from well hidden posts in the ruins. From the distance, Kovalyov could already hear the rumble of heavy armor and the shouts of advancing Volzgradien soldiers.
West of Stargaria
Despite initial estimates, no enemy aircraft attempted to stop the Volzgradiens from bombing the defenseless Blacktopians. With their mission long complete, the Volzgradien aircraft were just beginning to land on their slightly damaged aircraft carriers. Only a quarter would be sent out to deal with the remains of the Blacktopian armor, and even that strikeforce would be half AA SU-47s. The remaining three quarters would constantly control the airspace around Stargaria to stop anymore airborne attacks.

"General Hammond sir!" screamed Col. Dowling into the radio "We're under intense fire here! We've got Volzgradien infantry and tanks all over the place, we need help and we needed it yesterday! I think we're looking at a 'Broken Arrow' situation sir!"
Dowling watched helplessly as several Apaches were caught out in the open by Volzgradien AA vehicles. Out of the pervious 25, 10 were now left and retreating rapidly. Just as they pulled back several Volzgradien tanks appeared, rumbling down one of Stargaria's wide boulevards.
"Get those AT4's set up! Target 2 AT4's per a tank!" yelled Dowling to his men. Getting back on the radio Dowling continued his talk with Gen. Hammond. "Sir any word on those Mech brigades that were on their way? We could really use some armor."
"Irving, I'll get those treadheads over to you as soon as I can, unfortunately they are still forming up in port. It'll be a few days before they can begin to reach Stargaria" replied Gen. Hammond.
"I understand, sir, just try to light a fire under them for me in the mean time? I'll do my best to hold the line, Dowling out" sighed Dowling before changing frequencies "Commit the Apache reserves as soon as the Navy eliminates those AA tracks." Switching frequencies again Dowling hailed his front line units, "Dig in and hold the line boys! The Navy will be here soon, we can't give another inch to these bastards!"
"And where the hell are those mortars?" In the background the first AT4 anti tank missiles raced out to meet their Volzgradien opponents.

Comrade Admiral, we've got incoming aircraft! I'm seeing at least one hundred!" screamed Alexei as he stared in disbelief at the radar screen. "What?! Dammit not again! responded Admiral Parovic angrily as he relayed the news to the rest of the fleet and the ground forces. "I want all vessels on high alert, as soon as they get in range, I want every damn gun in this fleet firing at 'em! We've got to take them out before they launch those damn missiles!"
Ever since the last attack, every vessel that could stay afloat was on high alert. In no time at all, the Volzgradien Aircraft Carriers were releasing planes like bees from a hive. Every Dreadnought, Destroyer, and Frigate had every gun ready for the impending assault. Unlike last time, when the Oseatan aircraft managed to slip in undetected, The Volzgradiens now had a very special "greeting party."
Seconds ticked by like years and minutes like centuries before the one fateful order was given. "Fire!" In one blinding moment, every missile, gatling gun, flak cannon, and SU-47 fired towards the ever looming Oseatan aircraft. With the amount of missiles fired and gatling guns operable, it seemed unlikely that ANY Oseatans would survive.
100 tanks were lost in the missile strike, and another 50 were heavily damaged. The unit was now at 25% strength. 4 entire Blacktopian tank units were lost in the barrage of missiles that rained down upon them. The open plains were not a good place to move through, but they had no other choice.

Despite the heavy bombardment delivered by the Volzgradien aircraft, at least half of the Blacktopian armor remained operational. Now, the task was given to the many Volzgradien artillery batteries and Aerofrigates. Only around half of the attack force sent to attack Pretopia was clearing out the last few defenses in city, there were still thousands of infantry and hundreds of tanks in reserve.
Of all nations in the world, none even came close to having the quality of artillery that the Volzgradiens had. Even the thickest of tank armor could not withstand a heavy barrage. While only around half of the batteries around Pretopia had a shot at the advancing Blacktopian armor, it was more then enough. The four Budyonny Aerofrigates had shelled the advancing Blacktopians for days and were beginning to run very low on ammunition. Still, the artillery would most likely finish the armor off.
The Volzgradien artillery quickly zeroed in on the Blacktopian armor's position and began firing lethal white phosphorous shells. For the Blacktopians, if the shell didn't blow your tank up, you'd be cooked alive inside.

To the shocking surprise of the Volzgradiens, the Oseatans had targeted ground installations instead of the fleet. Damage to ground AA defenses was "heavy" to say the least. Several flaming SAM batteries sent columns of choking black smoke into the air as they were hit by Oseatan air power.
However, the Volzgradiens were still prepared for any assault. Countless missiles were fired at the now fleeing Oseatan aircraft. Shipborne Gatling cannons opened fire in a great typhoon of lead.

The first two AT-4 missiles bounced harmlessly off the sloped frontal armor of the T-77. However, the remaining two tore massive holes in the tank's side armor, turning it into a metal torch. The flight of four FRAF fighters responded to a call from Blacktopian spotters that another flight of Derbarian tank killers was incoming. The flight of FRAF interceptors was not seen by the Derbarians until the activation of their targeting radar and the release of eight missiles. The Derbarians tried to evade but all four planes were hit. One exploded, and the other three spun into the ground. Then they picked up a flight of Volzgradian SU-47s closing in from a high altitude, so they launched four missiles before turning and running for friendly SAM coverage. The Volzgradians returned fire, but both sides had fired at extreme range and no hits were scored. The FRAF fighters made good their escape. More operations of the sort would be run whenever attacks were detected, but none would have the element of surprise like this one had.

We recommend that you land at the airfield in Stargaria. There is a few enemy forces within the city, but they pose no threat to the airfield. Enemy forces will most likely be destroyed before you land. Our fleet has been put on high alert to make sure your troops land safely. Once you land, then you may do as you please so long as you aid the Volzgradien/Derbarian war effort.

Nearly 30 jets soared over the base before breaking formation and going into the landing pattern. Several of the maintenance crews squinted searching for the aircraft. Once located they saw the Iron Crosses on the airframes of the incoming jets.
The first deployment of the Oseaton Federation Air Force overseas was underway.

The klaxons sounded throughout the ship as the carrier turned into the wind in preparation of recovering the returning aircraft
"Shi....How many did we lose, Bill?" Toland asked. He could tell that they were missing several aircraft from the line up.
"6 A-6's were downed sir, another 3 are severely damaged. We lost 4 F-35's and have 5 severely damaged. A-6 losses would have been higher if the Volzgradiens would have been prepared for a land strike, a majority of their aircraft and ships were out to sea to protect from another one of our raids. Unfortunately I think this will be the last time we'll catch them off guard" the operations officer informed Toland.
"Alright, let the Air Force know what we're up against and of the storms, we may have to evacuate those boys from the 13th, if the weather doesn't allow us or the Air Force to conduct close air support missions and grounds their Apaches, they're going to have a lot of trouble." Toland paused for a moment trying to find a way to alleviate the pressure on the men of the 13th. "Get those 5th Infantry boys into the fight, hit the flanks of the units attacking the 13th. It wont do much in the long run but it might throw the Volzgradiens off for just long enough!"
13th Airborne, Defensive positions, Occupied Stargaria
More Volzgradien tanks and infantry were barreling down on Dowling's men, fortunately his AT4 teams were able to get good sides shots at the advancing T-77 tanks. On the other hand they still were taking tremendous casualties and desperately needed a permanent solution to their anti-armor problems. Suddenly another flight of 25 Apaches appeared over the front lines long enough to launch a barrage of AT missiles at the T-77's. They hastily fly back behind friendly lines for fear of AA missiles and Volzgradien interceptors deployed from the fleet.
Dowling hoped the fire from the Apaches would give the Volzgradiens pause. Since the destruction of many of the Volzgradien AA units the Apaches had been trying to make life difficult for the advancing armor and infantry units attempting to breach the Oseaton perimeter. Oseaton mortars were firing around the clock attempting to force the advancing infantry to go to ground. The only problem was that those mortars could do nothing about the tanks, the most urgent problem for 13th Airborne.
The sharp crackle of small arms fire sounded off to the Oseaton left, catching both Dowling and his men off guard. At about the same time the radioman trotted over to Dowling's position and handed him the set.
"This is Colonel Grueder of the 5th Infantry Division, tell your troops to check their fire on your left flank we're attempting to push those Volzgradien bastards off your position." was the message Dowling got.
"Rodger that Grueder, nice of you to show up!" replied a stunned and relieved Col. Dowling. The infantry had about the same AT power the airborne had, perhaps a little less since they had no Apaches, but atleast the unexpected attack might help push the Volzgradiens back a bit and give the 13th time to dig in more.

Shocked by the sudden appearance of another Oseatan unit, the Volzgradiens were rather slow to respond. Despite the best hopes of the Oseatans, the airborne unit they were trying to save was pretty much annihilated. With the battle raging for several hours now, the whole of the Volzgradien garrison was active. Many of the SU-47s were now rearmed and they were immediately launched to destroy the incoming Oseatan forces.
Artillery units on the surrounding mountains soon began to fire on the helpless Oseatans. Even though the artillery lacked numbers, they made up for it with rate of fire. The Volzgradiens would now crash upon the Oseatans and crush them under the red sledgehammer.
While the AT-4s disabled several tanks, most were still capable of returning fire. Unfortunately, the newly arrived Apaches destroyed several more T-77s and APCs. Volzgradien infantry had now almost completely surrounded the first Oseasan force and were beginning to move in. Well hidden Volzgradien snipers were taking their toll on the Oseatan AT-4 operators. With the aid of the Derbarians, this battle would be over soon.
Probably the most heartening news for the Volzgradiens was the arrival of 3 Aerofrigates. Originally destined to be sent back to Pretopia, the newly resupplied Aerofrigates began firing streams of 40mm autocannon rounds toward the Oseatans. While the storm would limit their operational range, the Aerofrigates could still fire upon the Oseatans in relative safety from the harsh weather. With the Volzgradiens having the advantage in both air power, ground, and sea, this battle would be over soon.

That's about what I figured. Just curious, as I hadn't heard.
Some hours earlier, FREF Defense Line, Petropia
The Volzgradian Army made contact with the FREF shortly after dawn. The first sharp exchange of fire lasted for about thirty minutes and left several Volzgradian tanks burning and several hundred of their soldiers dead, many to the detonation of the explosives under the road. The FREF had suffered only light casualties, but now Volzgrad knew where they were and what they had. The engaged units pulled back a few hundred yards, and then a massive artillery and air bombardment began. With little air support, the FREF could do little more than watch and hunker down as their tanks and weapon emplacements were destroyed. The second assault came an hour later, and casualties were heavy on both sides, but superior numbers and armor told and Volzgrad forced the FREF to abandon their prepared positions after another two hours of sharp fighting, through simple weight of firepower. FREF communications were badly confused by this point, their firepower depleted and their lines stretched too thin. A powerful Volzgradian force had pushed between their left flank and the river, and the Blacktopians guarding their rear were collapsing in front of the Derbarian advance. It was hopeless. Four and a half hours after the shooting started, General Morton attempted to contact the Volzgradian commander and request terms for surrender.
Occupied Stargaria
"Fall back to the rally point men!" yelled Dowling. He watched as his men quickly, but in an organized fashion broke contact with enemy and fell back to the rally points. Waiting their for them were the same Blackhawks that had brought them into the city. Dowling waited for every soldier to get on board before he himself got on board. Once settled in Dowling signaled for the Blackhawks to take off. 13th Airborne was heading back to Lunarosa for rest and reinforcement. The 5th Infantry Division picked up their rate of fire to cover the retreat of the 13th. After the Blackhawks were clear and covered by the F-22's fresh from Oseato, the 5th broke contact and headed south a ways to form a new defensive position away from Volzgradien bombardment. Of the 11,000 plus troops of the 13th Airborne deployed to Stargaria, only 5,000 made it out alive, many of those wounded.
While the 13th Airborne Division had not been able to retake the city, they had fought off several tank units as well as infantry units. It showed great promise for the future.
ONS Johnston, Combined Fleet, NW of Slovakograde
Toland sighed as he got the news from General Hammond, the 13th was badly beat up, less than 50% strength and had lost 10 Apaches out of the 75 original that had come over with the division. Luckily since the Volzgradiens had been so focused on attacking the 13th's positions, the 5th's casualties had been light and they had been able to break cleanly from the fight. Unfortunately with the loss of 13th Airborne as a fighting unit for the time being left a major whole in the Oseaton deployment. Toland directed the 5th to consolidate their lines and prepare a defensive position. He then got on the line back to High Command in Oseato. He needed more troops and fast. By the end of the night the 6th Infantry was mobilizing and heading for their airports in order to be flown to Blacktopia. The next time the Volzgradiens attempted to overrun his positions, his troops would be ready.

When the FREF commander requested terms of surrender, Colonel Kabanov almost couldn't believe it. For hours the two sides had fought in a brutal battle which left hundreds on both sides dead. For a few moments, Kabanov simply didn't know how to respond. After a few seconds of though, Kabanov picked up the radio and began to speak.
"This is Colonel Illyan Kabanov to whoever is concerned. We are more then willing to discuss terms of surrender. My entourage and I will approach under a white flag of peace. We ask that no men on either side open fire." Kabanov finally said as he made up his mind. After a few hurried orders, Kabanov and his entourage began to cautiously approach the FREF lines under a white flag of truce.

With almost 6000 Volzgradien soldiers dead and more then 100 armored vehicles destroyed, the Volzgradien High Command knew that it needed reinforcements in Blacktopia very fast. Thankfully, a regiment (2000) of Volzgradien soldiers arrived every week, the bad news is that it would take 3 weeks for the Volzgradiens to replenish their casualties and only if the Capitalists didn't attack in all that time.
Fortunately, they found a solution of sorts. Almost immediately after the Oseatans were driven from Stargaria, Volzgradien recruiters traveled all over occupied and even enemy territory to recruit Blacktopian civilians. While most city dwelling Blacktopians hated the Volzgradiens, the disfranchised farmers and workers in the small towns and farms joined without a second thought. After a few days, a total of three divisions (4000) of militia were sent to defend Stargaria from Capitalist attack.
While they had much less training and equipment then standard Volzgradien soldiers, the militia had an almost fanatical devotion to Communism. This made them perfect for defending the ruins of Stargaria and the recently occupied Pretopia.

His entourage were similarly nervous as they clambered over several large pieces of broken masonry. The recent message from the FREF commander took off some of the stress, but Kabanov was still anxious to get this over with.
They quickly noticed the FREF commanding officer and the group walked toward him with caution. Around them, several dirt stained faces glared at them as Kabanov and his men approached.

The forth army group had seen a fair amount of fighting. Made up partly of former Shujunese Ultra-Nationalists and many energetic young revolutionaries, The Forth Army Group (my Army group is about 625,000 men if I remember right. It's somewhere around there) made up what it did not have with experience with energy and determination. These troops were now preparing to journey to help their Comrades across the sea. Along with the heavy equipment that was now being loaded into the massive holds of the transport ships, were spare Ak-108 assault rifles and RPG-29 rocket launchers to be given to allied troops. They sat in shipping containers, stacked neatly. In total, there were nearly 100,000 Ak-108s and 50,000 RPG-29s that would need to be handed out.
The 10th and 12th Fleets (180 Longboat Class, 10 Oscar II Class, 8 Akula Class, 2 Ulyanovsk with Mig-1.44s on the aircraft carriers and Ka-27s for the Longboats) were preparing to escort the troops to their destination: Stargaria.

They were spread out into a loose V formation. They disgorged their bombs, each carrying nearly 50 JDAMs, on the unsuspecting Volzgradien and newly formed militia below. "Get to cover!" screamed Pvt. Illyanov as countless bombs fell upon his position. While the blasts weren't particularly large, they struck with deadly accuracy and several tanks and buildings were soon turned to scrap as the JDAMs hit them. Hidden SAM batteries all over the region zeroed in and fired upon the fleeing Oseatan bombers. They would pay for what they had done.
South of Stargaria
Clearly, the Oseatans knew nothing of Volzgradien military doctrine. Almost every Volzgradien tactic involved defensive and at times, trench warfare. The defense of Stargaria was no different. In only a matter of weeks, Volzgradien troops had dug miles of trenches surrounding the city. Even militia forces would prove nightmarish to dislodge once they were so heavily dug in. Even if the Oseatan forces did break the trench lines, they would have a hell of a time trying to take the heavily guarded ruins of Stargaria.
In an attempt to weaken and demoralize the Oseatan forces, heavily dug in artillery positions began to open fire. Using a mix of both standard and white phosphorous rounds, the Volzgradien artillery could counter any threat. While the trenches were slightly out of range for the ships in Stargaria's port, the city itself could easily be bombarded if the Oseatans broke through. Either way, the Oseatans would not be breaking through any time soon.

---------
The Derbarian commanders were indeed happy. The entire North sector had been captured, and the Blacktopian forces in Pretopia had surrendered to the Volzgradiens. There was still loads of work to be done, however. A chunk of the Blacktopian army was still left, most of whom were falling back to defend their final city, Lunarosa. He knew that the battle at Lunarosa, as city built on top of a hill, and a city built for defense, would be unbelievably difficult to assault. Lunarosa was basically Pretopia times 100. The Blacktopians had flew anti-aircraft missiles, and they were in Lunarosa. Combine this with the bulk of anti-air missiles that Mount Shavano placed in the city, as well as the airfield, and there would be problems.
Derbarian aircraft had attempted to finish the Blacktopian tank column off, but Mount Shavano fighters were scrambled and massacred them all. Only one MiG got away.
He knew in his mind exactly what was going to happen. His forces wouldn't even be close to the city when Blacktopian forces would begin ripping into armor and infantry units with heavy weapons. This had to be a well executed, swift charge. The one at Pretopia worried him, because it was so disorganized.
It wasn't hopeless, however. He needed Volzgradien aircraft (which would sustain heavy casualties, no doubt) to bomb the city to the best of their ability. Missile strikes would only go so far in this high population city, which had an enormous land area. Tanks were a no go. This had to be infantry, as tanks would get eaten up in the streets. They could come in after, but infantry had to go in first. This, unfortunately, would probably lead to insanely high casualties. It had to be done, however.
The Commander turned off the light next to his bed, and went to sleep.

All throughout the night, Volzgradien artillery pounded the Oseatan positions mercilessly. Round after round after round was fired at the almost defenseless Oseatans. Occasionally, even SU-47s would drop JDAMs or napalm upon the now terrified Oseatans. With both Derbarian and Volzgradien armor being prepared for an assault, this battle would be over quickly.
Even the newly finished trenches joined in the fun as mortars and field guns opened up upon the Capitalists. Anything that could fire a shell or missile was put into position and fired in an attempt to break the ever deteriorating back of the Oseatans. In a response to the recent bombing campaign, recently arrived SAM and Tunguska units were heavily entrenched in the city and on the mountains to the west.

Colonel Grueder watched in horror as one of his troops was hit with a rocket fired from the charging Derbarian infantry. Fortunately the soldier responsible for launching the missile was gunned down in a hail of lead from several other members of the fallen soldier's company.
"Fire those AT4's as soon as the Humvees and APCs get in range!" shouted Grueder. Since the soldiers were dug the fire from the Derbarian infantry was ineffective at best. At that moment several missiles flew out to meet the Derbarian APCs, which stood little chance, racing across the ground exposed to all.
"This is Buffalo-6" shouted Grueder over the command net, "They've hit our positions, and I've got a fire mission!"
Without warning all the artillery pieces in the Oseaton military that had deployed to Blacktopia opened up in unison, catching the Debarian troops in the open. The 1st and 2nd Mechanized Brigades had announced their presence and tore into the advancing Debarian troops.
The group of APCs and Humvees got within striking range of the Oseatans. They began to open fire with 30mm cannons (APC main gun) and .50 caliber machine guns (Humvees). This was a full charge, but a great deal of the Derbarian force was held back in case if the Volzgradiens agreed to a Joint Operation.
The Derbarians well within view of the Oseatans, and it was expected that they would take a full force of rockets and bullets from the defenders.

OOC: Sorry, but I think that just "announcing" that you have armored units is pushing it. Not to mention that my troops aren't even advancing. In case your wondering, I'm talking to Oseato.

We will launch a joint strike with your forces. However, this will be at a later date. I highly recommend that you pull your forces back and regroup. Or forces specialize in siege warfare so you may provide support. If possible, attempt to flank the Blacktopians.

Stargaria
Quickly noticing the presence of Oseatan artillery in the area, Volzgradien artillery immediately began counter-battery fire. With generous help from UAV recon, the Volzgradien batteries soon zeroed in on the Oseatan artillery and began to open fire. The ever looming Aerofrigates advanced rapidly and began to suppress the Oseatan frontline. The 40mm autocannon rounds were more then enough to bust any fortification or armored vehicle that was unfortunate enough to be hit.
In a mirror operation, Volzgradien anti tank and field guns began to fire deadly volleys at the surprisingly effective Oseatan armored units. Well entrenched and hidden, the Volzgradien guns were almost invulnerable in stark contrast to the very exposed Oseatans.

OOC: It's iffy... Oseato, did you say that you always have the troops being Mechanized Infantry in mind? I thought they were airborne, as in parachuting into the city? Would it be farfetched for airborne divisions to have APCs?
The advancing troops are a Derbarian unit that is attacking w/o support that I RPed beginning to attack before.
The Oseatan response was fierce, with Derbarian humvees and APCs exploding from missile hits. Within no time, they were retreating, as the Oseatan army was tearing them apart. The attack was not effective at all, and it was known now that they would have to wait for the Volzgradriens to help them in a future attack.

If they're just APCs, then that's fine. However, if there heavy tanks, then I'm calling shenanigans.

OOC: I'm almost certain he means APCs. It's fine.
I also have to give him slack because I've been calling him the "Osteatans" for the last 2 pages. lol! sorry Oseato.

Occupied Stargaria
Despite some protest from several members of High Command, the Volzgradiens knew it was time for the sledgehammer to fall upon the brittle and weak Oseatans. With countless Volzgradien and Derbarian forces ready for the assault, it was an almost assured victory. With the majority of the Oseatan artillery neutralized, it was mostly safe for an advance.
In a last ditch attempt to soften up the Oseatans, a large flight of Tupolev T-160s flew over the Oseatan positions to deliver heavy ordnance. Massive amounts of napalm and JDAMs were delivered right on the heads of the exposed Oseatan armor. All down the trench line, the shrill shriek of whistles and the crackle of radios alerted the Volzgradiens that the time had come. Like most other Volzgradien sieges in the campaign, this battle would follow standard "Volzgradien sledgehammer" tactics.
First, massive VT-95 breakthrough tanks would lead the assault. With enough heavy armor and weapons to break any defense, the VT-95s were perfect for the task. Behind the breakthrough tanks, T-77s and BTR-100s would form the main attack force for the assault . Finally, a massive wave of infantry behind the tanks would mop up any survivors. All this while, Volzgradien artillery, field guns, and aircraft would provide a constant creeping barrage.
Finally, the order came to charge.
Tanks and APCs rushed forward in a massive spearhead formation. The much slower infantry fell behind at a leisurely pace. Volzgradien artillery crews were working overtime as they delivered shell after shell onto the helpless Oseatans. Countless Oseatan shells and bullets bounced harmlessly off the thick armor of the advancing Volzgradien tank force. Not wanting to be left out, Derbarian forces followed suit with even larger numbers then the Volzgradiens. Like any gentlemen, the Volzgradiens returned the favor by firing at the now deteriorating Oseatan line.
OOC: Well, I figured that since I'd been mentioning that the units south of Stargaria had been waiting for their arrival for several days was announcement enough, surprise is a key tactic in any maneuver. I mean a armored unit doesn't announce it self by driving down a road waving a big flag. And in the fog of war units out of action can get lost in the shuffle, especially with this many units in country.
Basically, I've always announced that I had Mechanized troops unloading in country but they had never been engaged in combat. I stated my airborne units had no armor and were desperate for the mechanized units to arrive, and thus, by pulling back south, they were able to link up with the armor sooner.
If there are still strong objections I could go back in and change it, I just figured an unexpected counter attack would be what the doctor ordered in such a situation, my airborne and infantry were getting torn to shreds.

Colonel Greuder watch in amazement as the forward elements of the mech brigades sat back in their defensive positions and poured fire on the enemy. Several companies of M1A2 Abrams tanks were in attendance along with their accompanying M2A3 Bradley IFVs and they were helping to hold off the incoming Debarian units.
The Paladin SPH's were taking some serious counter-battery fire and after a few losses pulled back out of range to where they could shell directly in front of the Oseaton positions, but were far enough back to avoid counter-battery fire. Several of the Oseaton units continued to complain of 40mm fire from the Aerofrigates and several messages were sent up the line. Something had to be done about this threat.
ONS Theodore Johnston, Combined Fleet, NW of Slovakograde
Toland read the reports from what many Oseaton commanders were calling the 2nd Battle of Stargaria. He was relieved that the armor units were in position and holding against the onslaught but was deeply concerned with the reports pertaining to the Aerofrigates. Something had to be done about those units if the Oseaton position was to hold long enough for the defenses at Luna Rosa to become complete.
"FLASH traffic to Lunarosa and Allied Command, Bill" directed Toland, "Tell the Air Force to form up for a raid against these 'Aerofrigates.' Full anti-air outfitting, those AIM-54 'Phoenix' missiles should allow us to strike the Aerofrigates without having to expose our raid to ground SAMs and other AA. Arm three full F-35 squadrons the same way, and send up those Prowlers to provide command and control and jamming for our units. This is going to be critical."
Lunarosa Military Airbase
The airbase was a mad house these days, with units arriving and departing all the time. The Oseaton maintenance crews rapidly readied the F-22's and F-35's for the raid forming up to hit the Aerofrigates. It was the only way to insure that the Army could hold south of Stargaria.

Now is the time to strike, gentlemen. The 2nd Battle of Stargaria is rapidly becoming the focal point for all major operations in country. I respectfully request several of the units tagged for defensive positions in Lunarosa be moved to join the battle near Stargaria. It strikes me that if we are to be the numerically superior enemy we will have to blunt either one of these two major advances, I know Oseato cannot afford to fight on two fronts at the moment. If we break them there we can focus on the units moving down from Pretopia.

Volzgradien Fleet
With the constant threat of enemy air assault ever present, the Volzgradiens readied their SU-47s. By the time the assault on the Oseatan positions started, all Volzgradien aircraft were prepped and ready to launch at a moments notice.
On the frontline, fighting was fierce. Despite heavy casualties, Oseatan Paladins still pounded the advancing Volzgradien/Derbarian force. Volzgradien forces returning from Pretopia would be arriving in only a few hours, so even if this attack failed; the Volzgradiens would have a substantial reserve left.
