OOC: What? How did Yuko get into this? What did I miss now? :(

ooc: Sarah asked if she could meet one of Wolf's eyes. i was kind of expecting to see her at the palace, but this is fine. I think Eddie can guide the others around while they talk- Sarah wants this to be private.

"Of course," the artist replied. "Major tourist attraction, this town, Mr. Silverkin, and it wouldn't do otherwise."

Sarah heard voices. she shot a wry smile at Marcus and walked off.

"And who is this?" Sarah asked, smiling at Sarah.

"Whoever she is," griped Eddie, "apparently she's important enough for Wolf's man there, who isn't even supposed to be with us, to threaten me on my own planet with a rifle."

"Wolf," Sarah said, staring at him, "what exactly is going on here?"

"Excellent." Marcus said, he bought the two painting which the artist wrapped for him and waved goodbye as he went to join the others. "Prepare storage, target paintings, keyword Assume Paintings." A beep came from the bracelet as the two works of art dematerialized into the bracelet, it was a nifty way of carriying stuff around. Marcus looked at Yuko, "We seem to have another guest." Marcus bowed, "Greetings."

"a few guests," Sarah said. "Two of whom were not expected..."

"And one of whom isn't wanted," said Eddie, shooting a look at the clone. "back off now, this is my planet, and then Sarah's."

Geez... even Drones are much better behaved... what the hell is Wolf thinking bringing soldiers here? It's like he thinks everyone's going to attack him or something. Marcus sighed. Well I guess Eddie and Wolf are going to clash forever more. He tried to hide his worries and focus on the task at hand. He wanted to get to know Sarah better, he also wanted to see this Dark Forest. He wondered how his brother was doing, from what he'd heard, Pegasus was also somewhere in Deata.

"You can go now," said Sarah politely but firmly to the clone.

"Eddie, I suppose we must wait for Sarah to be finished with Wolf and his wives. Anywho, perhaps you can continue to show me around? Surely we can not let the absence of Sarah prevent that."

"Of course," Eddie replied glaring at the clone. "I'll show you around. Marcus, are you ready to go?"

"He's on a planet under the direct control of me and Eddie. We are allowed to control who enters the planet, by Deatan law. By Deatan law, Eddie and I can also demand strangers to reveal their names while on this planet, and I distinctly remember Eddie asking for hers earlier." Sarah looked calmly at the clone with her "judge" look that was infamously unnerving.

"And on my own planet, I do have the right not to be ordered about by a gun-toting clone," added Eddie from the sidelines, still primarily talking to Marcus and Dragos. "'back off', my foot..."

Sarah smiled at Yuko- she doubted it was her fault- and extended her hand in greeting.

Marcus snapped for a second, "Dammit! Both of you, enough!" He sighed as he calmed back down, "Can we all at least pretend to get along? At least for a minute?" He took a deep breath, "Can we at least try to make it through the rest of this day with minimal conflicts?"

Dragos sighed. "I concur with Marcus. The whole point of this trip was not to bicker about clones and the like. I believe that Sarah called us here to have fun even if we are all competing for her heart. It is sad that we must have to argue about insignificant things. "Right now," she replied, her face flushed. "Which is why you and Eddie and the others are going on Eddie's grand tour right now, as I just said. And take your clone with you. Private means private."

She smiled cheerfully and added "my persai with the radio is Yumiko and the other is Midori. They're artificial inteligence based life forms developed on my homeworlds but they're sentient and free as well."

Since the trouble had quickly passed and Wolf had taken her clone guard with him she knew her persai could defend her just as well even without being armed even if they looked like harmless teenage girls.

She doubted she'd be in danger here but she couldn't go anywhere without a guard normally.

"Well, you obviously know my name," she smiled. then: "Could you get your friends to move off for a while? I'd appreciate no extra ears around here. It's safe here in Ithil.

"Clone, I want your weapon locked and holstered," he said. "and unloaded, if you're using ammunition of any sort." People around them were looking at Eddie with respect, at Marcus and Dragos with somewhat less respect, at Wolf unhappily, and at the clone mistrustfully, verging on anger.

Marcus smiled, he knew people weren't going to like him as much as Eddie and simply shrugged it off. It didn't matter one way or another. "So Eddie, which way do we go first?" Marcus looked around him, it was a beautiful city, he would rather that this trip go smoothly but unfortunantly, the clone might just get the group barred from a few places. It had happened before in his case, on Leanoria, the Drones were not allowed into temples or any important or popular places for that matter, the Leanorians saw the Drones as abominations and looked down on them. And of course the Drones, being as emotionless as they were, never cared. In some cases, whether a Leanorian frowned at them or ignored them, they would reply with a small, albeit fake, smile.

"you want to see the Icy Fountains?" he asked. "we have those those size of a skyscraper, and they are magnificent. I spent half the year in this city as a child, and I can remember going there almost daily to eat lunch there."

"Well, off we trot," he said, leading them through a crowded marketplace. For an FT civilization, much of their lifestyle was remarkably low-stress and old-fashioned, and they enjoyed it.

Marcus followed closely, "Wow, this reminds me of Leanoria, just a little. A futuristic civiliation that indulges in a more classic lifestyle. I enjoy these kind of societies, everything seems so simple."

"Well, life can drive you crazy if you take it too advanced," said Eddie. "Here, you spend time cooking your food, you manually carry things around, you shop in person, you travel instead of teleport... and you enjoy it. It's stress-free... at least, to some extent."

"That is true." Marcus said with a nod, "We has a few machines in Greywatch, I mean actual robots that resemble humans, but they aren't really mass produced. They mainly work along side Drones and act as policemen or soldiers. Some of them run businesses..." Marcus stopped himself, "But enough about my homeworld, I'm more interested in learning about this world and its culture."

"No, seriously," said Eddie. "tell us, we're interested in learning about other civilizations."

"Depends what you're interested in finding out more about." Marcus said cheerfully, "There's a lot to Greywatch as with any civilization."

"i don't know," Eddie said, "culture, religion, art..."

"Well Greywatch Prime, the capital planet of the empire is really a melting pot and cultural hub. That's pretty much where everything happens. most of the peoepl in Greywatch, including myself believe in the old Elden religion. We don't know why, but when we broke off from New Heaven to start over and met the Elden, many of the colonizers found the Elden idea... more appeasing than the one they had fled from."

"And who are the Elden again?" A large white thing started to gleam int he distance.

"The human and Leanorian ancestors in Greywatch. The ones who have master Cryption and Encryption."

"And what are those?'

"The healing ability that the Leanorian showed to Dragos earlier, I don't know if you saw it, that was encryption. Cryption in general is manipulation of the universe to get a certain... effect. It breaks down in cryption and encryption, basically, affecting other or the self respectively. Cryption can be used to create fire, tidal waves, blades of air and so on. Encryption can be used to heal oneself, create a shield of earth, melt one's body into shadows and so on."

"Well, all of those sound useful."

They could now hear a musical roaring.

"Well it's extremely rare." Just then came the sound of the musical, "Well I suppose that would be something to see."

They walked up through a large crowd to see towering stone fountains of various colors, spewing water everywhere in deep basins. They were shaped like a large variety of things, including many different types of people and many natural figures.

"impressive, isn't it?" commented Eddie cheerfully. "It was built over centuries of manual labor- no automated machines whatsoever."

"I can imagine that took some time. That's very impressive. No machines at all? Your people must take pride in such a wonder." Marcus was a little awed that the Deatans refused to use machines for somethign like this. On Greywatch, machines were accepted as a way to construct things quicker and more efficiently. This was completely different to him though.

"We do," Eddie replied. "Machines would have been easier, yes, and the military exploits them to no end, but in civilian life... a machinated culture is no culture at all, in our opinion. If everything's standard it's boring."

"Even with machines, there is no 'standard' in Greywatch. We don't make everything look the same, we simply use machines to finish things faster. And, course, for outer-space and off-world construction."

"We find that machines standardize things too much, though," Eddie replied. "what if everyone lived in the same planned building, or wore the same clothes?"

"That depends, though. A machine is just a tool, designs are created and thought up. Machines do the hard work by lifting and moveing the stuff that's too heavy for mortal creatures to lift." Marcus said, "You give them a command and they follow it. Depending who's at the controls, whether or not there's an AI, and the person who created the design decides the fate of the overall product. Minus the randomness of everyday life."

Yuko spoke gently in Kirisuban and her persai both moved back to the door and left waiting outside the room.

Now alone they could talk girl to girl.

"Its proved quite an interesting time so far since I first met Wolf. He's a warrior and he's away quite often but the other wives are good company and a great help.

When he's home although he shows his love for all of us and the children who can us all mothers" she replied.

Marcus nodded, "That, I can agree with. Though, I don't think machines have a disposition to make everything uniform. I mean, that would be a little silly if machines, created my man, dictated how our structures would look."

Dragos smiled. ''Machines are most likely used to make things easier for humans in terms of manufacturing and the like. Many nations often desired the mechanization of their industries to provide what they would feel as being economic efficiency for why would one need to use over twenty workers to make one thing when one or two machines could do it much more quicker?''

Yuko smiled and said "when Wolf isn't fighting or handling the usual affairs of state he does show us all a lot of love.

I met him while he was fighting or to be accurate after a fight. It was on a world called Necropolis and I was the Chief Medical Officer on a Neo Kirisuban exploration ship.

His clones were dead around him but he lived after his fight but he didn't wake up for a few days although. Thats when I started to love him."

"Ah tradition, yes, that is something good to have." Marcus nodded, "The Leanorian race was much like yours to an extent, thye were bound by old beliefs, even though they had existed for so many years and had developed their technology, they were still... how to say it, a little lacking in some areas. Due to tribalism, and more specifically being nomadic, new technologies could never be completely developed because of constant movement." Marcus gave a semi-sorrowful look, "I fear Greywatch may have over-stepped a few boundaries. We changed that, we introduced some of our own techology as well as our own style of living, not to say we completely changed their beliefs but we did apparently have a major influence on their race."

"Nomads don't seem to fit in too well with your culture," Eddie agreed. "Not with ours either, but for different reasons."

"We don't mind nomads actually, plenty of the Leanorian still are nomads. But some of them decided it best to settle down and learn more from us. They don't appreciate machines as much as we do but they still accept them at times when there is a large construction project to get done. There are only two actual cities on Leanoria, and those are the only places to go for trade and other things like that. Each one has about half a million people, most of them Leanorians who simply liked the idea of settling down."

"The feudal system is our stabilizer," said Eddie. "You can legally move, of course, but it's not as easy as buying a house and selling your old one."

"How does it work then?"

"the imperial family owns land. They give most of it out to barons. Any landholder can keep some in demesne- in other words, you hold it directly. Anyway, the barons distribute it to lesser nobles, and so on and so forth. Each noble has privileges and responsibilities directly related to his or her rank. Commoners aren't nearly so much bound to the land as they used to be, but moving requires way too much paperwork, and besides, each area tends to develop its own unique subculture that the average person wants to stay in."

"I see. That would seem like the thing that would come with this kind of society. Greywatch is a little... looser. We follow the whole, 'what you buy is yours' system. People buy and house, it's theirs, ifthey want a new one, they have to either be very wealthy or sell the old one and move. Though, now we do more in the way with apartments. That's really only Greywatch though."

"We believe that the predecessor empire of our predecessor empire was raw capitalist. When the cultists took over, they created an empire. After the reovlution, we reformatted it, but it was basically the same. we don't know for sure, though."

"Raw capitalist? I have no idea how that would have worked..." Marcus said with a sigh, "That would explain why Sarah hates Capitalism so much, or at least 'in its purest form.'"

"Really? Oh, well then forgive by forgetfulness. In any case, shall we move on?"

"of course," said Eddie. He looked at his watch- the old-fashioned kind which used gears, made of expensive materials, and very costly. "It's about time for lunch- want to eat?"

"Certainly, lead the way oh great Baron." Said Marcus with a smile, he hoped Eddie didn't mind his humor.

He smiled. "Any ideas, guys?" He wasn't sure if he would feed the clone or not.

"I don't really mind any place in particular. Trying out local foods is just something diplomats do, so, anywhere."

"Well, we'll just find something good." he started to lead them along to a district filled with a lot of different types of restaurants- Deatans were foodies when possible.

As Marcus followed he realised he'd walked into a wall of smell. There were so many different places to go and he had no idea which place was best. e wanted to try anything new, but 'naything new' was surrounding him at the moment. He looked around him, "I... I have no idea where to go from here... How about you pick the place and I just follow?"

"of course," Eddie said. then: "Do you like seafood?'

"Sure do." Marcus replied with a nod.

Eddie prompty steered them into a nearby restarant with a severe aquatic theme, helped along by the fact that the walls, floor, and ceiling formed one giant fish tank. they got seats quickly.

"The lunch rush is just beginning," said eddie. he was right-w ithin the next minute, 15 more people came in.

"Then I suppose we should order something, I'll let you choose for me. I trust you enough to choose something traditional and tasty."

A small shark hovered near Eddie's menu as he looked at it. he rapped the glass and it swam away. he ordered a platter of some sort.

"Pesky sharks," he mutered. "Do you have them on Greywatch?'

"Sharks? Something of the sort, yes. A lot of the marine life on Greywatch is pretty old and unchanged. There are indeed creature very similar to those." Marcus smiled, "Funny though, it looked like it wanted to order something as well."

"Probably did," he replied. "I heard they feed them on the extras."

"That would most likely explain it." Marcus said with a chuckle.

"My dog acts the same way. I fed him too much, and now he's greedy. Do you have any pets?"

"My brother indulges in keeping a nuetered Hellhound around the mansion at times. It's a friendly animal despite the name, I just can't help feeling uncomfotable around something that was originally a bio-weapon of sorts."

"And how was that?"

"Well, the creature itself is fine. Large reptilian sort of thing, four legs, can sprint like nobody's business. Four glowing red eyes, massive jaws and such... It's a true terror until one of them decides to tackle you to ground and begins licking your face as a way of saying 'hello.' Or until one of them defends you, if that happens you grow to love them very quickly. They're fiercely loyal animals, no suprise, it's just one other thing the military had on its checklist of, 'ally-friendly bio-weapon must-haves.'"

What we can do depends on if we're on a starship or on the surface as you would expect. He likes playing arcade games while on downtime as well just like we do. Arya and Luck are mean pool players but I wouldn't have a clue about that game" Yuko replied.

Yuko thought it should be obvious to Sarah what happened after they went to bed so this was left out.

She patted her bump and added "I'm going to have twins so I'll have my hands full soon enough."

"Oh, that's always good," said Eddie. "Fenrir has never saved my life, though I'll admit the opportunity has never exactly arisen. The only thing he invests a considerable amount of energy things is female dogs."

It makes the Imperial family bonds extremely strong and its like having a load of new sisters" Yuko replied with a smile. Especially since memories of their playtime came to mind.

"not for diplomatic missions, right?" he replied wryly. Their meal, grilled fish with special herbs, came along.

"Sometimes in a palace and sometimes we go with Wolf in a ship.

I haven't been home to Kirisubo Primus since my marriage but its the nature of marriage in my worlds that an old life ends and a new one begins with the wedding ceremony.

I hope to return after my twins birth so my grandparents can see them as well" Yuko replied.

"No, of course not. Many people would think he was insane if he brought one on a diplomatic mission." Said Marcus with a small laugh, "A lot of people already think he'd partially insane for having it in the first place." When the food was placed in front of them Marcus thanked the waiter, "Wow, this is impressive."

"I think I agree with these 'other people'," Eddie grinned.

He do have a 'family ship' for when theres official business but Isan is a very nice planet. We have lots of gardens, a nice palace to live in and the people are loyal to their Emperor and very friendly and helpful.

I did ask for two Persai to help me with the twins as well and as you can see they came. They may look 17 years old but in terms of them being lifeforms they're still children and learning fast" Yuko replied.

"Theres personal space should I desire it" Yuko gently replied to the Princess enjoying this girl talk.

"Well it's not that, it's just that he's most likely trotting around with Drones. Drones often get a lot of attention and not the good kind, Pegasus is the kind of person who doesn't take any crap so... well I'm sur eyou can see where I'm going with this." Marcus began eating the meal that was infront of him. "Wow," he said after trying the first fork full, "I'll have to thank the chef."

"i see," said Eddie. "That doesn't sound too good. Emperor Syro actually sent me a picture..." he took out a comms device and brought an image up from the war games, showing a humaniod figure with a lot of black. "This is a drone, isn't it?"

"So when are the twins due?"

Marcus nodded, "That would be it. 'The demons of the Greywatch military.' That's what they're sometimes called."

"Demons?"

"It's mainly just a name. If you ever saw these things in action you'd understand why."

"Well, yes... but really it's their style of fighting. And what they do while they fight. They were partly made to demoralize enemies which they fought. Believe me, I've seen them do that quite well, so to that extent they were labled as demons." Marcus took a few more forkfulls of the meal.

"and how do they do that?"

"Well, the short fights and training sessions I've watched have often been enough. For starters, they can regerate very quickly and without any limitations. The speed is determined by exactly how much damage they've taken, needless to say, projectile and energy weapons are practically useless against them unless you're to destroy the entire body. ooc: eddie, marcus, and dragos are at a seafood restaurant eatin lunch (Eddie's paying). sarah is talking w/ yuko, but I plan to wrap that one up soon. I have no idea where Wolf is, but I think he's off-planet. And it's fine, I was away all last week anyway.

Yuko smiled broadly and said "I'm fairly close to the last four months now and they're pretty active as you would expect. We haven't picked out names yet but the scans show a boy and a girl."

She did look fairly happy as she revealed this news. Time had seemed to pass by fairly quickly since she'd met Wolf and their relationship developed quickly.

"Well, tell them hi from me," Sarah said, glad that she had gotten to understand the situation somewhat better. "I think that' enough. Could I offer you something to eat or drink before you leave?"

Marcus ate more of his meal, he was nearly done with it. "Hmm, I can only imagine." He looked up and shrugged, "I guess it can't be helped in the end. Can it?"

"Well, from a purely technical standpoint, i probably could," said Eddie. "Though i would get hell from everyone if I quit the nobility. the only other way to leave is to get fired, and treason also happens to be a capital offense, and that's one of the only ways I could actually get myself denobled."

he called a waiter over and payed the bill.

"I imagine that Sarah's probably wrapping up around now."

"Huh, well we couldn't have that now could we?" Marcus said with a smile as he finished his meal. "Work always comes with power, not much you can do about it. Hey, would you happen to know what's happening at the war games so far? Pegasus doens't tell me much."

"yeah, I want to keep my head," said Eddie. "In a mostly figurative sense, as decapitation isn't all too common around here. Anyway..." he checkd his comms. "I have a link to Syro's device," he explained. "Anyway, they're on the first thing- a race. They're entering a canyon, and a Deatan craft has crashed into another racer from either Dornalia or Greywatch, they're not sure yet."

"Lovely," said Marcus sarcastically, he sighed, "Well, I hope whoever crashed is okay, sounds like a real mess." He sighed, "Knowing the Drones, if they aren't dead yet they soon will be..."

he rose to his feet.

"Are you two ready to leave?"

"Aye aye." Marcus said as he stood up and pushed his chair in.

"OK, off we go," he said. "I think we should head back, but we can stop and see some stuff on the way."

"Well, there's this one street..." he started to walk out of the door. "it's rather famous- and crowded."

"Well that sounds like a plan," Marcus said with a smile, "So, shall we go check it out?"

"Right away," said Eddie. He walked out into the crowded streets.

Marcus followed closely so as not to get seperated. Pegasus... what are you doing right now? He thought quietly to himself, he qickly dismissed it, No sense in thinking about that right now.

the moved on for a while, dodging large clumps of people. Eventually, they came onto a long street littered with white. a closer inspection rveelaed marble statues everwhere, mostly of real people doinmg their real jobs. A particularly striking one was of a sculpted sculptor sculpting a sculpture of a sculptor sculpting a sculpture.

"Marcus looked to the multi-sculptor sculpture, "Now that's just being extravagent," he said with a laugh. "Wow," he clapped for a few seconds, "Someone had some time on their hands and a grand idea in mind." He looked around him, "This is quite a bit of marble you have here. Does this place cause a lot of glares during the day?"

"Pilots aren't allowed to fly over it," Eddie admitted. "So baronet lacon is attacked by city planners every once in a while, but we ignore them. the place is worth it."

"as it is, your 'great idea' came around during the Great Collapse. we were considering slashing government funds for artists at the time. In order to show the stupidity of this while still going on strike, a bunch of them started making these instead."

"I see," said Marcus with a nod, "Interesting history."

"well, we might as well walk through," Eddie said. 'though i warn you it will be crowded, both with the animate and inanimate."

"I'll be sure to keep that in mind." Marcus was sure not to get lost and made sure he could always see Eddie, being lost in an unfamiliar city on a planet that was not his home was not an experience he needed.

eddie carefully led him through, almost getting lost himslef on sveeral occasions.

ooc: i'd like to stop here until Yuko leaves, so we don't have to keep them waiting outside.

Marcus followed carefully, it was loud and crowded but it didn't bother him too much.

Dragos made sure to stick close to Marcus and the others; he did not want to get lost and he was really still interested in courting Sarah but, should he fail, he would congratulate the lucky man.

"Some tea would be nice Sarah san" Yuko gently replied and tensing slightly as one of babies kicked.

"By the Kami they're active" she added with a little smile.

Sarah suddenly realized that she had no servants with her.

"um, wait up," she said, running out to Baronet lacon's house to snatch a teapot from his kitchen.

She returned hurriedly and poured each of them a cup.

"have you thought of ay names yet?'

"Domo Sarah san" Yuko replied as she thanked Sarah for the tea.

"We haven't talked about names yet but I'd like Hoshi for the girl" she added smiling slightly and looking very content as a mother to be.

"And does Wolf have any ideas?"

"I'm sure he'll have an idea closer the time. After all his son might well become Emperor some day so he'll need a good name" Yuko replied and cheerfully took more tea.

"So is succession in Isa rough the males of the line? In Deata we just promote whoever was born in the family.

Yuko shrugged her slender shoulders adding "sons don't automatically assume the throne over girls since the best person for job gets it.

I fully believe a daughter of mine or even Princess Joy could take over the Isan Empire some day. Theres been an unbroken line of Empresses on my home worlds since the space federation was founded. Not because boys are looked down at but because girls are a lot more common."

"That's interesting," Sarah said. "The Deatas have tended to have girls as the elder children for the last few generations."

Yuko smiled and said as she sipped her tea "perhaps you're heading the same way as us. With only one child out of ten a boy we had to adapt our whole way of thinking and tackle traditionally male roles.

Even the family has changed shape with two mothers being the norm. Our exploration fleet crews are also all female."

'I doubt it," Sarah said. "It's just in the family, not in the general populace."

Nodding again Yuko added in reply "then I'm sure its not a problem except for die hard traditionalists. Gender dosen't matter anymore in respect of being a ruler as I well know."

Her world was a shining example of female dominance and how it could be achieved but it had happened accidently and over a long period of time. It was as balanced as it could get already.

OOC: Can my suitor get in on this conversation? Ixania has had female rulers with the current monarch being an Empress.

Yuko simply relaxed drinking more tea as she did her bit for interspacial diplomatic relations. Being an Empress was a lot more than just being a wife to Wolf.

She returned the smile and said replied "once they finish their business I'm sure Wolf will take me back as well."
