"If this is true, this could mean war."
"Are you ready for war, Captain?" asked Lio quietly. "You and your nation. Last time you fought the Greali, you were evenly matched. But what of now? In a full battle, more than a small skirmish, can you be sure Calaverias can come out victorious?"
Administrative Building...
Erus sat quietly inside his quarters, looking out the window without really seeing what was beyond it. He could not hear the rhythmic steps of his Guards boots, but he knew they were there, outside in the hall. Abruptly, in the sky there was a flash of...something. Light? No. Fire? It certainly looked like atmospheric burn. But he could see no ship associated with it landing. Strange. He frowned and leaned closer, straining his perfect vision augmented by implants to see down several blocks away into the mouth of an empty square...

Twilight

Alexander unhooked himself as they toured space. He walked over and took a seat next to Lio " Yes, but we don't have multiple worlds that can act as barriars against attacks, only observerd worlds with few defenses and camps."

Administrative building

Two stalkers made there way to the flash of light in the sky.

OCC: deserted, whatever you say, how are you going to get to the great leader in a deserted area, the great leader is in a administrative building, you want to fight through the Calaverian people to get to him, if so your chances are zilch.

Administrative building

The Great leader sat in a white chair, he awaited the Xiscapian that would be his highest commander, to lead his forces into victory. He had already gotten the message that they were Korr mercenaries, most likely the Greali hired them. He was getting tired of all this outside stress, something had to be done to let Celestis indipendant from aggression. Hopefully this Xiscapian was cabable of leading an army and Observer.

OOC: Some of the Black Guard have abilities.....
IC:

"Are you alright guys?" asked Malker struggling to get up. He checked his location, he was pretty far from the administrative building.

"Yeah." said some of the Black Guards. The drop ships impacted the ground harder then originally thought.

They grabbed their blasters and put on their suits, which had stealth functions. Malker looked around at his surroundings........

OOC:Sorry so long-several outside issues delay me in posting, and I wish to apologize, as this is going to be a continuing situation
IC: Morga met with the publisher, handing his documents over, then had his lunch with Joyce, apparently Roy's cousin who was romantically involved with her garbage collector, a Kash clone who forgot her entirely every third day.
Possessed of the conviction of self-delusion, she was certain she could make it work.
Morga had all he needed-he dispatched a bolongo to Firefox Rose, and abandoned Roy-the identity would serve no purpose, now. It was time to alert the Ordo Annilla.
The first operation was fairly simple-the water supply for the city was well-guarded, but the Ordo Annilla knew how to deal with guards, and Morga soon added several chemicals to the reservoir.
It wasn't deadly, or even troublesome-Morga would have used Trilone if he wished to snuff out the city-instead, he mixed several muri chemicals that changed the water, giving it all the properties of human blood. Within two hours, every tap in the city would spill out gouts of blood, and it was best he be away by then...

Soon the area of impact was surrounded by GOU, after scraping around with the parts an alert was sent out of an inusrgency on the city. Reserve GOU units were called to duty. Stalkers ran down the streets searching for the cloaked enemy's. The blood deal with the water supplie was fixed, it caused slight panic in the city. The Grea Leader announced it as a problem with the water, and it was being fixed immediatly. Kash sat in his office " I can not let anything more happen, Celestis is under lockdown now, im recalling four Observers to the world, they will have there Probe fighters patrol the city constantly and provide space support...Things are getting strange." he sent to all the Observers he needed. Kash then sent out a public message " The enemy is within us, practice caution when venturing outside in the streets, report anything unusual. The enemy hides...we will flush them out."

Erus's Quarters...
Administrative Overseer, General Overseer, Chief Overseer, Xiscapian Ambassador to Calaverias and the Great Leader's emissary and interpreter Erus listened to one of his Guards without expression. "Celestis is in a state of lock-down, sir," reported the Guard. "The armed forces are pulling into their reserves for additional soldiers to patrol the streets, and none of the "insurgents" have been captured or killed as of yet. There has also been that incident with the water-"
"Ah, yes," Erus waved his hand, smiling in amusement. "How surprised I was to turn on the shower and find myself, for the second time today, drenched in scarlet liquid. A very clever imitation of blood, I must say. Seems this "unexplained but entirely harmless" phenomenon, as the Great Leader put it, has put everyone rather on edge."
"Yes sir," said the Guard blandly. "The Great Leader has posted additional GOU outside your quarters, sir, with four in the hall, two in the street below, and a hunter unit on the rooftop adjacent. Agent Tokala has observed the crash site, and the wreckage appears to be that of Greali drop ships. We suspect Greali Black Guards have spread throughout the city, but the fact that they managed to land so close to the Administrative Building is troubling. We could be attacked at any time, and the the drop ships could have been carrying up to a hundred twenty soldiers."
"Mmm, yes," mused Erus, stroking his utterly hairless chin. "And what can you tell me of your Intergalactic Empire counterparts, Agent Klaff?"
The Klaff shifted ever so slightly, perceivable to Erus's close eye as being irritated by being compared to the Greali. "There is roughly two hundred thousand there by our intelligence estimates. They are the deadliest Greal has, and are extensively trained in all areas of combat and weapons and vehicle operations. Normally they are, as one might guess, body guards, but it appears they are being used as scouts and shock troops as well. Of course," he sniffed, "they are no where near our standards of training."
Erus smiled. "Of course, of course. Now, is that all?"
Klaff shook his head. "That is all, Overseer."
"Good. Keep Tokala roaming, and resume your position in the hall. If the Black Guards attack, I want you with the Administrative Security to stop the Guards from getting to the Great Leader for as long as possible."
Klaff bowed. "It will be done, Overseer."
Streets...
Black Guard Tokala crept silently down a small side street, alert for any noise or twisting of the shadows that indicated someone else was here unseen. He had his passive camouflage activated, keen senses sharpened to a fine edge for the enemy. This area was quiet, but aside from the sound of GOU jackboots on concrete and the occasional hum as a Stalker drove by or the roar of a passing Probe fighter, it was like that everywhere. All the non-soldier clones, inherently obedient to the Great Leader, were going outside as little as possible, and the rest of the citizens were inclined to mimic them. It was dark and the identical buildings loomed high, some unlit, making perfect places for spies and scouts to hide in, such as warehouses, workplaces closed down by the elimination of the private industry, unused storage facilities, and so on. Agent Tokala knew if he could find one, just one Black Guard, he could find them all.
Twilight Observer, Celestis Orbit...
Lio gazed out over the metropolis that was Celestis, lights burning evenly across the entire night side. Chamblin popped up on the holographic emitter, a somewhat elderly kitsune in a suit with the demeanor that simply screamed "Butler" and the posh, snobbish attitude of wealthy aristocrats across the universe. "Finished, Madam Overseer." he said with a straightening of his bow tie. "According to my trajectory calculations," a map came up beside him showing the crash site of the drop ships highlighted red, then a single line spanning upward to color a generous area of space, "the ejecting vessel, assuming it's position stayed constant, should be somewhere in this area of space. Now, we know that if a capital ship was the ejector vessel, it's signature would have been spotted by the GTO systems. Most small craft in the Greal Navy are not sufficiently large nor equipped to handle four drop ships. This indicates that either a Orlin Class Mine Ship or Lasom Class Frigate, modified for stealth of course, could carry the drop ships to their target destination. These two ships are sufficiently close in size to not require major adjustments to your proposed plan."
Lio nodded. "Thank you, Chamblin. You have been a great help." She turned and strode across the bridge to Alexander. "Now, Captain, I have something in mind. I need you to listen to me very carefully, and follow my instructions to the letter..."
Celestis Orbit...
A short time later the hanger doors of the Twilight opened and a single Probe fighter glided out into space. Heading away from it's mother Observer, the pilot, a Kash clone, checked over his status. He cycled his cannon weapons to the appropriate one, and engaged his targeting computer. Before him there was only empty space, but with a jerk of the control stick the Heavy-plasma cannons on the chin swung, locked into position, and fired.
A maelstrom of fast-moving bits of metal spat from the cannons, spinning and tumbling away into space, moving in a perfectly straight line. They impacted the cloaked frigate's shields, outlining it, and the tell-tale glow as they reflected off the plasma shielding was a dead giveaway.
Bridge...
Lio nodded, and one of the ensigns on the bridge sent a message to cannon control, who fired the Observer's main laser armement at a third of it's power. The invisible blast sprung out of the dish on the Twilight and connected with the engines on the frigate as the shrapnel exposed it, utterly destroying their ability to move and probably damaging weapons and systems and making hull breaches as well. In an instant over a hundred and fifty Probe fighters darted out of the Twilight's hanger and attacked the crippled frigate, aiming to disable the Greali vessel's array of weapons and hopefully board it...
OOC: I'll leave the actual space/boarding battle up to you guys.

OCC: Bravo for thep ost Xiscapia, very well done.

GOU troops were now switching to thermal detection while others went with X-ray scans. If any weapon or heat signature that was unusual came up it would be fire upon by either tranq darts or live rounds. The Stalkers drove down streets making patrols and scanning the area, there dual-50.caliber tritanium armed machine guns could literaly turn some building to junk. The Hunter unit on top of the Administrative building was laying on there stomachs, one for each side of the roof. There Safari railgun sniper rifles scanned the streets for any funny business that the Greal might be up to at this moment.

The Terminator

The frigate had stayed away from the enemy ships carefully, but not carefully enough, the blast had damaged its two hangers, and killed one quarter of the crew. The frigate suffered extensive damage, but was still able to move, but not able to jump unfortunately. Captain Wess worked furiously to fix the damage. meanwhile, he ordered the drop ships on the ground to return, if they could. He also decided to call in a cruiser, which was cloaked, but the cloaking was off. The frigate fired its remaining AS guns at the attacking probe fighters.

The cruiser had yet to arrive.......

Celestis

The Stealthy drop ships took off again, before the Black Guards could do any damage. The SOS message had come from their frigate and they had to return. Malker's first Black Guard mission was a total failure.

The massive Observer quickly headed towards the damaged vessel. The Terminators AS were doing okay, they had destoryed six Probe fighters. This angered the Observer as it unleashed another one hundred fighters, the white ships literally swarming around the Terminator. They fired at the ships AS guns seeking to cripple the ship further. Being as the Observer was so large, it began to literally beam th drop ships into its hangars, which were filled with GOU armed with Scorpion's and War-Path assault rifles. A shield would be created around the drop ships so they couldnt fire upon troops within the hangar. Magnetic feilds would be set to bring the dropships to the hangar floor. The Twilight began charging her secondary Plasma-Ping cannons to destroy the Terminator should it try anything funny.

GTO systems were now online and visibly able to track the Greal ship. They awaited orders to obliterate the ship that had shown itself to the Great Leader.

OOC: Okay, now Greal, how exactly did your Black Guards, every single one of them, manage to get back to the drop ships, which were under extensive guard by GOU, without a huge firefight or at least being seen? NC's GTO would have annihilated the escaping drop ships anyway, unless he decided to try and capture them. Because this all already happened a few posts back, I'm not going to make a huge fuss about it, but Greal you have a TG. Also, NC only said he beamed your drop ships into his hanger, and never said anything about ships going into yours. If that's your way of repelling boarding parties, they could just come though an airlock or cut their way though the hull if they wanted to.
IC:
Overseer Lio was in the hanger of the Twilight as the four drop ships were captured and surrounded by GOU. She watched serenely, waiting for the soldiers inside to come out. The Greali Black Guards would be held in Calaverian custody until everything could be sorted out. They would probably ultimately end up in Xiscapian hands. It was only fair, really, considering Lio had seen the opportunity and essentially captured them by herself.

(OOC:Excuse the interruption, but posting is a bear of late, and I have to take my time when I can)
IC: Morga observed the cloning facility carefully-several hours had yeilded fruitful results. The facility only contained Kash clones, which was hardly a bother, as Kash's features and bio-signature were in his hologram already. Armed guards patrolled in pairs-fortunately, military minds are trained to obedience and compliance with authority, so again there were no fears.
The locks required Kash's voice to recite:"Soylent Green is people", a phrase which forced all the major vowel sounds out and would be responded to only in Kash's voice. Morga's own voice could not even pronounce some of these sounds, but his bolongo could imitate Kash Wilson perfectly.
The other security measures were retinal scans and DNA tests, but if this was meant to hinder him, at least Kash had the courtesy of filling the place with keys for these locks.
Morga had already turned out all the lights in Roy's apartment and broken the bulb activated by the entry switch, then blown out all the pilots to allow the apartment to fill up with natural gas. In the event no one on Celestis had seen a horror film and knew to turn on lights before entering a dangerous area, he had left the fifinella with instructions to generate a spark when people entered-it would doubtless grow bored waiting, and a bored fifinella tended to procreate, which was all to the good. The AIs tended to enjoy destruction and were the embodiment of the later "Murphy's Law" which came about largely due to their actions.
Morga had a different scheme, one he hadn't bothered to fill the fifinella in on-they were treacherous and untrustworthy, but perfect agents of discord.
Using the skills garnered during twenty years as a Stone Age hunter, and millenia as an agent of the Ordo Annilla, he crept up on two guards patrolling the grounds.
While having an eight foot tall, 800+ pound muri drop on one would doubtless ensure unconsciousness, Morga had sprayed them with narcotics from his wrist bracers as he delicately smacked their heads together-humans were so fragile.
As they slept, he duct-taped their mouths shut, then applied tourniquets to their wrists and bit their hands off before carefully removing their eyes and placing them in his shade box for preservation, their hands also. He left them alive as new hands and eyes could be grown later, and humans are pack animals-it is much harder to leave a living, albeit injured, human than it is to leave a corpse.
His lune was ghosting in the electronic highway-it would block any outgoing distress signal, and held a prerecorded message insisting on a full lockdown until reinforcements came. Those within would be alone with Morga to his heart's content.
Kash had made it so easy for him-with everyone appearing the same, the trick was appearing as if one belonged.
Morga was interested in the state of Calveran cloning technology. Long ago, a human named Harlowe Gault-a brilliant biochemist-had developed the Gault protoplasm-an organic construct that mimicked whatever it came into contact with. A few healthy cells could develop an entire organ suitable for the donor, making organ transplants as dangerous as rhinoplasty.
Sadly, Gault was ambitious, and rather than blessing the world had embarked upon a career as a terrorist and assassin, until the Ordo Annilla brought him down. The protoplasm was shared with the Ordo Xiola Umbari, who worked out many of the bugs-the protoplasm couldn't replicate nerves perfectly, usually resulting in heavier nerve cells and a retarded brain, but other organs were replicated perfectly. The Ordo Xiola Umbari used it to heal all who required such, but the Ordo Annilla used it to recruit sleepers.
Morga was very interested in how Kash Wilson overcame the various complications of cloning.
It was actually amazingly simple-ultrasounds to identify problems, then laser surgery on a cellular level to correct them.
Morga began his work in earnest, then-the computers were reset, fixing the problem of the clones-he simply let the computer know the cells were meant to be frogs instead of Kash Wilson, and set a virus to encode this into the hardware of the facility.
It was petty, but Kash would have to shut this facility down and take it apart, rebuilding everything fresh, or it would produce nothing but man-sized frogs, correcting first it's current batch, then all later.
Morga was somewhat piqued this would not receive the notice it deserved, but he would think of something. Of course, now it was time to move on...

The cloning facility's were all stopped immediatly, no more clones would be able to come out for two days. It wasn't a huge set back, he easily had enough clones to field his army's and armada. However, new codes were being put in place, more guards, as well as devices that constantly recorded activity, atuomatically fixing problems. The frog people were killed on sight by GOU troopers and even some civilians. As the space battle raged, on the ground it was chaos to the great leaders ears, not for the population, btu for himself. He was sure something was up, he orderd another doubling of the gaurd for all positions. Units were being deployed to find this intruder at all costs, he was ruining vital time for the Great Leader.

OOC:I understand completely-I have my own RL issues. However, I cannot lie back, as I've no idea when I'll have time again, so please forgive me, and any mistakes will be corrected when I post again.
IC:Morga was pleased-he really hadn't thought any of the frogs would actually escape, but some had, to encounter civilians, so doubtless more were loose.
Life, the great adapter, would flow on-if only one of the altered clones dropped it's male traits, a species of giant frog would plague Calveras. He wished he'd supplied them with claws, fangs, and venom, but hindsight is 20/20.
His mission was not the cloning facilities-it would take months, perhaps years, before security was lax enough to allow a second go, and he really didn't have that time, which was why he'd dredged himself out of the sewers to the trash dumps of Celestis.
The Great Leader was, of course, very hip on recycling, but humans generated far too much waste to be sorted easily, so piles of it were pushed in out-of-the-way corners to await sorting, and Nature, being the opportunist it was, had taken advantage of this.
The junkyard was filled with opportunistic animals looking for an easy meal, and most had vermin, seeking the same thing.
It was fairly simple-the ingredients were all readily available, and Morga had manufactured a sizable quantity of the powder he was spreading. It wasn't harmful, nor did it have an effect on mammals-but the fleas they bore-on them it carried an effect. It heightened their sex drive and reproduction at a cost in lifespan, but it would be enough.
Celestis had many garbage dumps, and Morga spread his powder-the fleas would grow beyond their hosts' capacity to sustain them, and being animals, would require more, and become emboldened by hunger. Fleas, of course, jump. Soon, the garbage collectors would become hosts, and through them, the fleas would spread throughout the city. Normally, a mere prank, but these fleas had come off wild animals, and some would spread disease, which would adapt to cross species, and mammals were all basically the same...

It quickly became apparent that no soldiers had been aboard the drop ships. Lio shook her head. Still on Celestis, still uncaptured, still a threat. Release dogs, insects, even gas if you have to, but these infiltrators must be found. Lock-down will remain in effect until every last one is captured or killed."
Celestis...
Tokala had watched as the drop ships flew away, and now he had a bead on something. On his thermal imaging scanners he could see the barest outline of a form, perhaps internal fans working too fast. Nevertheless, unseen, he knelled, aimed, and fired a single shot into where he determined the right leg should be. The sound of the fire would bring GOU running, and he might have a captive to question.

They did exactly as she said. GOU fired nerve gas that killed into buildings that were abonded, killing some civilians, they were desposed of. Dogs barked as they were released, these dogs weren't normal, they were geneticly specified for combat, large sharp teeth and high muscle mass. They looked liked bulky wolfes with a little less fur. The frogs were found and killed on site. Medical units were swift to attack the bio assault that was done by the spy. Extra patrols were happening around the planet again. At least three soldiers a block, if not more. The Great Leader was calming the people down, saying they must be strong and hold through. Morga wasn't about to rest idle-though his fleas were already reproducing at an ungodly rate, he had to set the next phase in action. His powder was still key, but it was simplicity to produce. This time, he was slaughtering animals and dousing the remains with his powder-it would affect the carrion insects, bringing flies, flies that had eaten the corpses, and doubtless picked up a tidbit or two along the way.
He had tainted the water, the cloning facility, and now the dumps and the mild wilderness outside the city...
Wilson's security would be tight, but he had a mundane mind, looking only at the obvious threats to his power. Morga's actions, though public enough to shake faith in the Great Leader, were nuisances at best. It was time to up the ante, and that meant preparation...

The enemy Black Guard became visible as the blaster bolt connected with his left knee and dropped hard, coming down curled around his gun to avoid losing it, twisting to get off a shot at Tokala. The kitsune avoided the blast, dropping his rifle, and dove on the wounded man, seizing his head and slamming it repeatedly into the ground. The enemy soldier struggled for a moment but went limp as he became dazed. Tokala heard the growl of a Stalker coming up the street and the clatter of GOU jackboots on concrete and knew he didn't have much time. Grabbing his rifle and dragging the human into the shadows of a nearby alley, Tokala jammed a pistol under his chin. "Alright, talk. Where's the rest of your mates, and who's your primary targets?"

OOC: I was responding to NC. Sorry man.
IC:

The Black Guard that Tokala was about to fire on was named Semlia. She looked around cautiously for any enemy troops and moved silently forward. Her stealth function was on and her thermal imaging could see GOU troopers everywhere. Semlia suddenly felt pain on her right leg. A enemy had somehow spotted her and shot her in the right leg. Luckily, the bullet did not penetrate her light but powerful body armor, she was only bruised slightly. She turned on her thermal imaging and spotted a knelling figure. She fired at the figure with her blaster. All this had happened in less then five seconds.

Surprisingly the shot did not appear to effect the enemy, and faster than Tokala would have given him credit for the Guard spun and flipped off a bolt. Hopefully he had been disabled, but if not Tokala needed to stop him from escaping. He blind fired around the corner before cautiously peeking out to discern if he had wounded the Guard.

The shots missed her, but by a few inches, firing blindly around the corner was slightly effective. She quickly hid behind a wall as the enemy trooper fired again. She then heard a pause in the shooting and she spun around to fire blindly also. She had called for help, but the other Black Guards were on their mission, quietly advancing through the planet.

As Tokala looked around he barely had enough time to hurridly retract back in as a flurry of laser bolts flew past where his head had been. They were not far from the Administration Building: He contacted Klaff over their secure link, informing him he had one of the enemy pinned down and would be taking him momentarily. Tokala didn't know where the GOU who were supposed to be guarding this block were, but he was glad they hadn't showed up: If they did, they would probably kill the man he intended to take captive. Catiously Tokala cracked open the door of the unlocked abaondoned business he had been using as cover: Crime was virtually non-existant on Calaverias, due to the clone population not being inclined towards such things and everyone else brainwashed or terrified into obedience.

Creeping along the empty, unlit asiles, he came to where he could see the enemy Guard outside the window. A second door was around the corner from him, and he slipped though that one and approached him on silent feet. The Guard was flat against the wall, and just leaning to take a look to see what his foe was doing when Tokala hit him with a flying tackle from the side, rifle strapped securely to his back. They both landed heavily, Tokala on top, trying to knock the enemie's rifle away and pin him.

However, she did not give up easily. She, instead of grabbing her rifle, she grabbed her "quiet" sidearm and let off a few shots at the enemy's leg or hand, she did really aim, then, she used the butt of the sidearm to hit him or at least take some pressure off her.

Meanwhile, another Black Guard heard her "distress" call and rushed over to the scene quickly....

One shot clipped Tokala in the shoulder, but this only seemed to make him angry. He didn't appear to feel it as Semlia hit him with the gun, putting both hands around her throat and attempting to cut off her air, pressing down on her windpipe to close it. As they struggled Klaff had arrived and watched quietly from a nearby rooftop before he spotted the movement of another Guard running to join them. Klaff calmly unslung his rifle, stared though the scope, and squeezed off a shot at the running figure. The rifle was made to kill from a distance, and even the armor wouldn't help against the superheated bolt of energy, especially because Klaff had aimed for a head shot and had been trained and conditioned extensively in marksmen school...

Two Stalkers screecehd down the street and stopped to help the Kitsune. The stalkers turned there Twin 50.cal machine guns towards there position. Three GOU dropped out of each Stalker armed with War-Path assault rifles, with tranq ammo. A probe fighter circled above keeping an eye on the situation. A GOU yelled through a microphone " Give up, we have you surrounded, if you resist you will be beaten animal!." They carried stun sticks with them, electricty pulsing from the ends. One of the vehicles fire twenty rounds as a warning shot, the rounds spiltered through walls and anything else that was in there way. All around the city GOU were getting reports and converging on enemy positions, however it hadn't really heated up yet.

The Black Guard was prepared, but not for this. He died instantly, and the body suddenly disappeared. Semlia then took out a grenade in her "pocket" and muttered "We always die, but never get captured." Then the plasma grenade exploded, shaking the ground slightly.

Commander Rammer was ordered by the Militayr Command to meet the Korr again. He specifically wanted to meet Yoki again. A heavily encrypted transmission was sent to the Korr. Rammer hoped they would pick up the message (And hopefully send Yoki and her bodyguard again).

We have another job for you. Please meet Commander Rammer at the warlord starbase.

Klaff descended from the rooftop as he watched the Guard's body vanish from sight, surrounded by GOU and Stalkers. He looked to Tokala and his opponent just in time to see a bright blue glow, and watched his comrade fling himself away from the enemy as the Greali soldier exploded apart, having committed suicide via a plasma grenade. Tokala was thrown far but not high, tumbling along for a few feet before hitting the ground, bouncing once, and slamming into the wall of a nearby building, cracking it and bringing dust and fragments raining about him. Klaff pointed to one of the Kash Clones who appeared to bear a rank of significant command. "You. There's a body on the ground a few feet back from where that scorch mark on the street is, it's cloaked. It will be a Greali man in armor, I want you to strip him of his armor and dispose of the corpse, bringing all his equipment to Overseer Erus once it has been fully disassembled. Any and all other of the enemy encountered I want taken alive and brought to me, but failing that your men should shoot on sight. Lock down is to be maintained, and any impostors are to be detained." With that Klaff strode off to check on his groaning, swearing comrade extracting himself from the rubble of the wall.

Her ever-present Korr bodyguard accompanied her, dwarfing all those around him and giving off a sort of deeply suspicious watchfulness.
"Surely you agree this is most irregular, Commander," said Yoki softly, fingers drumming lightly on the hilt of her katana. "There is no need for a face-to-face meeting...unless our contract is rather," her eyes glittered, "specific?"

"Now what?" asked a fellow Black Guard.
"Semlia is dead. Rox is dead, but Rox's body has disappeared, and Semlia's body is nothing more then ashes." said Malker, "we keep moving."

"There is a problem. We have sent a Black Guard team to Celestis. This mission may fail. So my superiors want your soldiers to kill the leader of the Calaverians. Your best soldiers. It was all over. The end of democracy in Greal. President Dallix had publicly opposed a bill that would ban Galaxs from holding public office. The Techars introduced a bill that would remove President Dallix from power. The bill was quickly approved and President Dallix was forced to resign. Ziller Remetrix became President Emperor, and then he abolished what he called the "corrupt" democratic system. there was no more democracy in the Empire.

Dallix and Ziller met one last time at the Imperial Palace. Dallix was nervous but he kept his fear away as the two met.

"You shouldn't have done that." said Zillar smirking.

"You just made yourself highly unpopular among the other races." said Rollins

"I don't really care what they think. Why don't you stay in politics? I wanted to appoint you as governor of Laxer."

"I'm done with this. I'm done with everything."

"You're going to head back to your comfy mansion?" chuckled Rollins.

Ziller wasn't expecting it, but Rollins punched him in the head. "That you deserved. With all your lies." Black Guards swiftly came with their blast rifles. Rollins was surrounded.

Ziller smiled, "Get him out of here. Get him out of the planet. Send him to Laxer."

Dallix was dragged out of there and deported instead to Pamp.

The Berrax population had fallen to 300 million Berraxs, from a high of 2 billion the last year. Millions of Greal marines, police, and soldiers patrolled the planet. Any Berrax they ran into was shot. The Berraxs continued to live in the hills, trying to survive the massacres of Berraxs.

A squad of Black Guards had discovered something though. They were patrolling the hills and ran into a secret ship yard. It was a massive ship yard, and inside it was a massive ship. The Black Guards were astounded and tried to call for backup when Berrax rebels struck and started a firefight, as they fought, the hills "opened", and the ship took off.

The 4th Fleet immediately pursued the ship, but it disappeared very quickly.

The Greal navy was informed that a possible Berrax "battleship" was on the loose.

OOC: Well, Greal, a body can't just up and vanish. It's impossible to destroy matter, and you didn't state that the Guard blew himself up with a grenade or bomb. The corpse couldn't have been beamed away, because all your ships in the area have been captured or destroyed, so I assumed upon his death the Guard's cloak automatically activated again to hide his remains. NC's previous post stands because the body is there, it can't just be gone for no reason.

The Black Guards had returned to find Overseer Erus pawing though the dismantled armor of the Greali Black Guard. All his equipment and weapons were sitting on the kitsune's desk, and he was examining them all with interest. "They must have some way to contact each other," he muttered. "Not radio, I wouldn't think. A HUD of some kind, in their helmets. But we need to get to that, and this helmet's been deactivated." He ran a hand over the hole that still had caked blood around it, and pressed button on his desk. A second later two Calaverians walked in, both clones. Erus's Quarters

A GOU came back inside, he shuffled with his slightly bulkey armor, the eyes of his helmet glowed, a radio muffled voice sounded " Sir, the helmet has been uplinked to the network, sir is there anything else you require?" He asked, standing straight, his rifle hanging from his chest.

Orbit

There were seven Observers in orbit including the Twilight, they had all been recalled due to the Great leaders paranoia of a invasion that he thought could happen. The last three Observers were now jumping to the Observed worlds and checking up on there status's. The journey's were long so it would take some time for them to return, stargates had been set up on most, but not all yet. The Calaverian stargate was ready, they awaited the Xiscapian's response.

He logged into the network and sent the A.I. in search of Greali viruses, then clicking to open a file...
"Wait." he held up a finger as the GOU was about to walk out with the assortment of armor in his arms. "One last thing. Whichever Calaverian Captain is coordinating the attack on the stealth frigate in orbit, tell him he is under strict orders to have the Captain or Executive Officer captured alive. I will be wanting to speak with them."

Lio nodded to the stricken Greali frigate. "GOU should begin boarding," she told Alexander, "the fighters are such that they can provide covering fire, and shuttles or transports should be able to attach to the hull with little trouble."

The Jump Point opened over New Xiscapia to allow an Alversian freighter into orbit, it's prow emblazoned with the muri runes of Darkness and Movement over the private crest of the ship's owner, an auroch skull painted red bearing a black lightning bolt on it's forehead.

OOC: Bullshit, Greal. No ship of yours aside from the frigate ever entered the system. The Cruiser was coming yes, but you never posted it's arrival. Besides, do you know how useless cloaking is after you've started the engines on a ship? There's a big freakin' energy signature, but you can't see anything else. So? It doesn't do anything, the Observers would easily be able to see any ship coming from the energy signature, and their Superlasers would just blast any Cruiser to very small, very much on fire fragments.
IC:
Erus sighed to himself. There was nothing on the network, the helmet was truly dead. He hardly thought this was a precaution against what he was doing: Mass manufacture of equipment which died as it's user did was not at all cost-effective, especially for soldiers, so either the suits were specially made according to every Guard's liking and biological signatures, or it was a malfunction. He would have to do it the old-fashioned way, then: Obtaining a live captive. That is, if the incompetent fools who called themselves GOU could capture a Guard, and if the damn Greali would stop blowing themselves up.
Twilight...
Lio nodded. "Do it."
Warlord Starbase...

The leader of the four Guards bowed respectfully as he reached them. "Priestess Gemilla, a speeder is waiting to take you to the Emperor at your leisure." The other Guards eyed Glowbug from behind their helmets with distaste. Of course, Korr were accepted and even valuable members of the military now, but old habits die hard.

It doesn't do anything, the Observers would easily be able to see any ship coming from the energy signature, and their Superlasers would just blast any Cruiser to very small, very much on fire fragments.
IC:
That fact that the communications equipment and whatnot was dead didn't pose much of a problem. It was astoundingly simple: If there wasn't anything occupying the helmet, or the one wearing it was killed, it would stop working. However, place the helmet on a GOU and the sensors registered a presence. It was simple enough to use some quick surgery (the Great Leader strode for perfection, after all, and many citizens who were not clones, even the females, strode to look as much like Kash Wilson as possible. Thus plastic cosmetic surgery was easy to find) to form some GOU's face into an exact replica of the face of the dead Guard. The helmet would find that it's old owner had donned it, and came online once more. From there the HUD display with it's minimap showing the location of every Black Guard on-planet was uploaded to the network after the viruses from the false start were shut down, and the map was sent to the Commander coordinating the efforts to find and eliminate the enemy guards. With this the GOU would be able to hunt down and kill or capture every Greali Black Guard.
Twilight...
Lio nodded. "Do it."
Warlord Starbase...
Yoki nodded. "Good. I'll send for an assassin and you will be informed once the Great Leader is dead. Is there anything else, or are we done here?"
Xiscapia...

OOC: Fine, whatever.

As for the helmets, the communications and equipment are dead once the owner is dead, it can't come back online.
IC:

The frigate was trapped. The few remaining crew accepted that. They decided that the hell burners would have to be launched, at the planet's main urban areas. The captain pressed a red button, and the hell burners were launched. Ten seconds later, he pressed another button saying "Self Destruct".

The vessel exploded, but as luck would have it, the Calaverians managed to beam themselves someone. It was a Berrax prisoner that was stuck in the frigate's brig cell for weeks. He was surprised that he survived the blast and looked around his surroundings.

Morga swept out further, but there was precious little outside the city-the Imitators had devastated the planet, and the terraforming efforts of the Great Leader to reclaim the world were finishing the job the Imitators had begun. However, there were farms in the small band outside the city but before the wilderness. The people had to eat, after all.
The farms were largely automated, with guards patrolling, more intent on seeing to it the equipment operated properly than any attackers. After all, who would be foolish enough to destroy their own food supply, one the Great Leader rationed out even-handedly?
Well, Morga had a plan, and that called for the next phase-Disease Leading to Famine. Since infecting farm workers would accomplish little, he had to fall on backup-fortunately, a computer program to interrupt functions was called a virus, and the Blue Moon was adaptable.
Bypassing the guards was child's play-they hadn't been hunters and this soft job had made them complacent. Carefully hidden sensors did most of their observations, and they were loud enough to a muri's ears as to be easily avoided.
The guards patrolled in pairs, regularly reporting in to a central command center, all focused on bringing enough crops to the food processing plants deeper in the city for distribution to the populace. A simple, well-run operation, performing a necessary duty.
Morga hated this aspect of his job-making a people suffer for their rulers was distasteful at best. As the guards approached, he readied two capsules-the first contained a bacillus bred to eat seals and delicate components, rendering machinery useless-it was invisible to the naked eye, but fast-the bacillus would render their gas masks inoperable within five minutes of contact, the only give-away the breaking of the capsule itself. He hurled it directly between them, then moved swift and silent to another location. In five minutes, he would hurl the second, a powerful narcotic that would put them to sleep for eight hours or so.

Gemilla sat in the flier, watching the landscape. Rio Casa was beautiful in autumn, it's slate-gray skies bearing the scents of fruits awaiting harvest, though the sun-dependent Young Races found it depressing, but they were not trolls, forged in the Lightless Hell of Wonderhome, and drawn to Darkness and the gloom of night.
Xiscapian hospitality was also to be admired-they had offered her a suite in the Imperial Palace, whose bathing facilities she intended to use before her audience, though she would be staying at a hotel in town, as she had mercantile business better suited to that location aside from her mission.
The Blue Moon was anxious-never a good sign-and had not heard from Morga in some time, though his bolongo was making regular reports to Firefox Rose. Even now, Blue Moon kozoru were patrolling Celestis space in that odd demi-dimension nestled between E-space and first-level hyperspace, seeking their missing member. Calveran technology was not yet advanced enough to monitor this realm-few of the Young Races were even aware of it's existence-but the Blue Moon was drawn to Morga's signals. The turning of the waters of Celestis into blood, the giant frogs, the flea infestation that infected the city-these were signs the Blue Moon had used for millenia, signals they must seek and find, and the operative would not communicate until all signs were rendered. She had to find out what Morga was up to, if Firefox knew, and relay that to the Blue Moon. Why the Ordo Drakul operated so, giving the Blue Moon such free reign...well, she shrugged, if any Order other than the Sacred Motherhood attempted to regulate another, there would be War.
She watched a flock of brightly colored birds rise up out of a tree, alarmed by her flier. Such beautiful creatures, so delicate...

As Morga's little plan ate through the helmets, the Guards raidoed for back up, they said there might be a biological or chemical attack. Immediatly one hundred GOU were on there way, and three probe fighters with fully scanners activated rushed to the scene. The Great Leader had heard " What the hell is going on!!!" he yelled to his officers at a table. " Scans, better scans damnit were better than this!" Two officers left the table, they would never be seen again.

Lio nodded to one of the GOU, and a few seconds later Sater was presented with a bottle of water. Lio really had been hoping for a commander of high rank, but to have rescued a prisoner from certain death was better. She approached him slowly as the GOU dispersed, the threat gone, their duty done. Two stayed with Lio as her personal guards, distantly flanking her as she stepped up to the Berrax. The kitsune was vaguely uncomfortable with the alien: It looked almost exactly like a xenomorph, and despite evidence to the contrary, he gave her the shivers. But sentients were sentients, after all...
"There is a place you will be transported to in a day or so where you will be safe. The Techar and Greal military can't hurt you there, and there are refugee Berrax there too, many of them Rebels. Your struggle is over." She smiled warmly.
Xiscapia...
The speeder banked gently and came to a perfect, barely noticeable halt just inside the Inner Courtyard of the Palace. The Black Guards had been quick to form a ring around the speeder, and a servant eased though between two of the black-armored kitsune and opened the door for Gemilla, bowing. "Welcome to the Imperial Palace, Milady. Is there anything you require before your audience with the Emperor? Food, drink, rest, use of our baths or communicators?"
Celestis Orbit...
The assassin had no name, or at least no one knew what he was called at birth. He went by the alias "Fatum", and was not, technically, a Rebel. Oh yes, he hired his special services out to the Rebels, but he did not consider himself a part of their pathetic little band. Only pain and death lay down that road, and as he understood it it was better to give than to receive. Assassinating this man would not be hard, not on a planet where seventy percent of the population looked exactly the same and had the authority to go anywhere. He had already donned the holographic image of a GOU clone, and sat quietly with his completely authentic War Path assault rifle: The products of the Muri manufacture of Calaverian weapons hadn't only ended up in Berrax hands.

The automated drone he sat in was tiny, barely giving him enough room to stand erect, and no room to lie down. His tail was curled around him, hidden by the hologram, but still rather uncomfortable. However, it was the only way he could make it past the Observers and GTO defenses. It glided silently and invisibly though the atmosphere, passing over dozens of missile launchers and turrets that could rip it apart in a single blast undetected. Finally the pod touched down on a high roof, settling easily among the forest of air conditioners, satellite dishes, antennas, maintenance sheds and heaps of rubbish. The place had obviously seen better days.

A tiny door opened and Fatum struggled out, pushing the six foot three two ton pod behind a small structure. For all intents and purposes, from here on out, he was a GOU patrolling in service to the government. He entered a stairway leading down from the roof though a depleted apartment building, the walls cracked and covered in posters proclaiming the perfection of the Great Leader, the generosity of the government, the heroics of the GOU and the savagery of all aliens. Residents had their doors tightly shut against his intruding gaze, but he was not here for police work and quickly exited the building into the street below. He located a Stalker vehicle, vacated by it's GOU as they hunted for the Greali terrorists, commandeered it and drove to where his mission briefing told him the Administrative Building was.

Getting out, he looked at the bulk of the building. The roof and surrounding area was ringed by Hunters with Safari sniper rifles, the streets were patrolled by GOU, Stalkers and Post Walkers, the skies swept by GTO and satellite systems and Probe fighters screaming overhead every few minutes. He smiled to himself, as did his outer clone shell, contemplating how easy this contract was. In, get the guy, out and away, and there was half a million credits in the bank for him.

After drinking a bottle of water, a whole water bottle, he seemed refreshed. He wanted to explain who he was.

"Well, I am actually a captain in the Berrax "navy". They spared me alive because I was a high rank and they wanted to know...where the Berrax battleship was. I knew where it was, but I successfully resisted and they never found out. They also wanted to know where Callin was, where the device was, etc."

Morga watched his timer-the GOU response was typical given Calaveran technology levels and the remoteness of the facility, and not unexpected. He had uploaded the widgets into the system-unlike the fifinella, widgets were male, aggressive, and territorial-their invasion of the Calaveran system would be noted rapidly, especially as Morga had adjusted the size parameters on the vermin hunting robots to include humans while leaving out the massive muri.
One hundred GOU were about to discover the joys of farming, Calaveran style-threshing, reaping, clearing the land of opportunistic wildlife.
He really wished he'd time to upload a widget into the posthole digger, but he'd needed so many for the communications system-a little benefice for the Calaverans they'd discover soon enough. After all, Morga had left the system intact for a reason.
He palmed three special sling bullets, one for each Scanner. The Calaverans would be seeking typical assailants-heat signatures, movement. His lune would suppress his heat signature, and the hyperdense dark matter he was composed of would read as metal. Since the Scanners would sweep first, the GOU would be unaware of the hostile nature of the machinery until it was too late-by then, Morga would have sent a sling stone to each ship, magnetizing their hulls and knocking out their scanners and telemetry.
The GOU were coming, and as Lord of the Night, he must fete (http://youtube.com/watch?v=YzwNHDyq6Q4&feature=related) them properly...

"The battleship. We have been constructing secretly for the last three years on a battleship, more like a small super battleship. Callin managed to launch the battleship before the Black Guards arrived. The ship is very formidable and dangerous to the techar navy.

OOC:The widgets are AI strings, the male version of the female fifinella. They fit easily into small data crystals, as the core program is remarkably simple until the widget begins learning and growing-the same data crystal can dump the core program rapidly, and it will eventually mature into a fully developed individual as it expands and grows into it's housing system, accustoming itself to the vagaries of it's operating system.
There really isn't much mass involved-perhaps the size of a flash drive, and the program can self-replicate like any virus once uploaded-one widget reproduces while the others infiltrate this or that machine. Let me suggest Stephen King's short story "Trucks" for a literary example of a widget invasion, though the core principles are from Roald Dahl's "The Gremlins", admittedly a rather more fanciful take on the subject, and harder to get a hold of.
There is no external unit other than the base drive for the upload-the rest is contained in the operating system, one of which is sending data streams through the communications array.
Like any children, the widgets will gleefully break into anything they can find, and learn as they experience more. They love destruction and chaos and big explosions, and have an utter contempt for organic mentality, loving nothing more than putting the upstarts in their place. Being sentient, they'll give your programmers a good run as they cleverly try to outwit any antivirals or vaccines. Have a nice day.

A pocket battleship, so to speak, could be assent to their Rebellion.
"Excuse me for a moment," she stood, gave a slight bow, and brushed past Sater into the hall outside the room. Reaching into her robes she extracted her personal communicator, getting in touch who she knew was the Muri in charge of the kozoru fleet protecting New Berrax.

Generally it is considered good manners for the guest to bow first, then the host, but this is often forgone for the bow to be done by whoever speaks first."

He continued, sweating now. "Uh, it is considered bad taste to kill another being because they have offended you...otherwise, forgive me for saying, the Kitsune Empire would have many less allies then it does now. A simple slap across the face will usually suffice, but if the offense is particularly grievous, you may consider the offender a non person by ignoring them totally, in their words, actions and presence. It was a point of consternation to security, but Morga's information had been accurate, and to Security's knowledge, no troll had ever initiated an attack with their hidden arsenal, instead openly bearing a weapon when intent on assault. On Morga's advice, such weapons were noted and watched, but not commented on, on the theory the trolls would simply adopt less noticeable weapons in a nod to courtesy. If a troll ever attacked someone other than in defense, this would change, but a troll's sense of honor kept them from such activity under an ally's roof, and Security grudgingly acceded and watched all trolls carefully.

OOC: Is the Muri from another nation?
Ordo Drakul
20-07-2008, 03:12
OOC:Muri culture is somewhat convoluted and drawn upon feudal lines, the base social unit being the Clan. Several Clans can form together to form Tribes, and the various priesthoods, the Orders, accept members of all Clans and Tribes. Most aliens only come into contact with the Order of the Dragon, which comprises the diplomats and generals. The operation of relocating the Berrax to a safe world is being performed by the Blue Moon, who've been hired as mercenaries, while Gemilla is of the Order of Vaneekara, a warrior order that extols the feminine role within muri culture. Given the independence of these groupings, your answer can be either "Yes, but ..." or "No, but..." depending upon what you mean by nation. No, she is not a member of the same organizations as are functioning on New Berrax and Celestis, but she is a representative of the same government as oversees these operations, as she is performing some freelance diplomacy for the Order of the Dragon, who are curious as to what exactly is going on.

OOC:No, it's because the muri are an ancient, elder race who'd been forced to evacuate to E-space when your planet was so much forming debris, and we were waging major interstellar wars while your R&D teams were trying to crack that "fire" thing. Ancient man knew the muri as the trolls or titans who predated the gods and contested with those worthies as equals, and our last major war had the sad consequence of wiping out the Norse culture, as well as decimating our own numbers to the point we only recently decided to emerge into the galaxy again. I don't think you're technologically behind because you use guns-Morga prefers his sling, after all-I think you're technologically behind because I enjoy a few billion years' head start developing my technology over yours. You figure my AIs were stated as having been developed due to the intervention of Ambrose Bierce, an American Civil War correspondent, and field-tested on human aircraft in WWII-the terms "fifinella" and "widget" to denote female and male are from that time.
IC: Morga rolled his eyes-such blatant destruction to capture one individual-this culture would wipe itself out if he'd just leave it alone. The Silentium was right-always a possibility, if remote.
Eh-he'd set out to destroy the farms with his viruses-and this HAMMER would do as well. He activated his personal shields, and began to move. Gating was an option, but his ship was on the Heart of Chaos collecting certain insects, Dona's office was being watched, and Roy's apartment was either filled with oxygen now or exploded-if worse came to worse, he could shunt his mass into the dimension between E-space and first level hyperspace, but he hated doing that in a planetary atmosphere. He dispatched his bolongo to the Sultan, just in case...

An officer sounded the HAMMER's weapons " Firing battery's six, seven and eight!." Another officer checked " Battery's six, seven and eight are firing!"

The blast from the plamsa-ping cannons literally burned the whole area, vaporizing buildings while keeping low collateral damage to the outside blast. The Great Leader was happy, nothing could have survived that blast, or got away from it in that amount of time. It also destroyed the terrorist's plan at hurting his econmoy, he would simply create and beam down more farms.

Lio re-entered the room, laying her communicator down on the table in front of Sater. "Callin is on the line." she said softly, sitting down back in her place across from the Berrax. The kitsune Overseer watched intently. While she was not trained in recognizing Berrax body language, it was easy to tell the former Admiral was nervous. She hoped Callin would give him permission to tell her what he knew, and with that reveal the location of this Berrax pocket battleship. It needed to be protected before the Greali could get to it and destroy it...Qonn knew there was nothing like a vessel of your own race protecting you instead of some aliens you've never even seen to boost moral.

Imperial Baths...
The servant's eyes widened. He didn't know much about Muri culture, but the Castle of Lead...things seeped down to those in service in the Palace, as they often did, and that was supposed to be where a great and powerful being resided. To his knowledge, anyway.
"If you have brought the belts with you on your person they will already have been scanned and looked over by Palace Security, so you may present the gifts directly to the Imperial Family. When one gifts, it is always after the bow of the giver, and can be before or after the bow of the receiver. If you have gifts, they should be given first, before the talk, so that the receiver can take them as a token of goodwill. If you give something with great honor, you would present like this," he went down on one knee, head bowed, and removed his katana from his belt. He placed the sword in his hands as he raised them, palms up, towards Gemilla. "but this is rarely done, and should only be undertaken if you really and truly mean the honor. It is more common to simply hand the item or object directly to the person or persons they are intended for, unless the receiver delegates that they should be taken by another first."
Administrative Building...
Chief Overseer Erus watched the farm though a secured link on the network as GOU stormed towards it, then away from it as the orbital strike became imminent. His A.I., Chamblin, guarded his own little portion of the Calaverian system, protecting it for Erus's use and beating off the attacks of the widgets constantly. Whether Morga made it out or not did not directly affect his work, aside from perhaps eliminating the pests if he died or keeping the Calaverians distracted if he lived. In any case, he doubted the Muri would be killed by an orbital bombardment. Not that such a attack would not kill a troll if it hit one: He just believed Morga was clever and resourceful enough to be somewhere else as the plasma came down like the fist of Qonn. The Muri had his own agenda, and he would further it as he saw fit.
Administrative Building...
A quick security scan later and Fatum was in. There was so very many ways to kill a man, but ultimately he had to choose just one. He made his way down to the kichens, unnoticed among the hundreds of clones in this building. The disguised kitsune discreetly picked up a tray and a glass of water set out for the Great Leader, shouldering his assault rifle and making his way up the halls and elevators to his office. In an empty hall he stopped, checked for security cameras, and removed a tiny unlabeled white bottle from his pocket. It was filled with a yellowish liquid, from which he squeezed about two ounces into the glass. They dissolved instantly upon entering the water, and would be completely odorless and tasteless when the Great Leader drank. He replaced the bottle and made his way up to two large doors guarded by a couple of Hunters. "Drink for the Great Leader." he said blandly. The Hunters stood aside and he entered, setting the glass down silently beside the Calaverian ruler as he yelled into a microphone about "bringing the people's hand" down on someone before retreating back. There were other guards in the room, but Fatum had to make sure the Great Leader ingested the water before leaving. If all went well, he would be halfway home by the time the Calaverian died. If not, well...he'd have to improvise.

He got up and walked to Fatum and pulled his pistol out and put it underneath his chin " Why...why do the Greali haunt me..., no matter we will deal with them.."He said smiling at Fatum " The enemy is everywhere, they think that they are smarter than me...but there not." He pressed the magnum into his jaw further " Or maybe...they have bigger plans..." The great leader said as he walked around back to his chair and stood, looking down for a moment.

Fatum simply stood, unmoving, as the gun dug into his skin, forcing his head up. As the Great Leader walked away, standing in front of his chair, he stepped forward. "Bigger plans than you could imagine," he said, leveling his rifle. For an instant everyone froze in disbelief, and in that time Fatum let off a single round, the bullet crossing the short distance from the mouth of the barrel to drill though the back of the Great Leader's head, whizzing out his right eyeball. Even as the Great Leader staggered, already dead, Fatum was already in motion, sprinting across the room to spring up onto the balcony rail, balancing impossibly for an instant, before gracefully allowing himself to fall. Bullets sprayed overhead, but he was already dropping, grabbing onto a ledge beneath the balcony and swinging though, smashing away glass as he rolled onto the carpet, protected by his armor under the hologram. He shoved open the door, sucker punching a GOU who had stopped outside, and ran down the hall, blind firing behind him.

The round from the War-Path rifle simpley exploded the Great Leaders head, spraying blood everywhere, before he dropped to his knees then he lay silent. The GOU were immediatly on his tail, they ran quickly firing tranq darts with Tritanium tips. Units were already being deployed to encircle the target, a Hunter on the roof took aim and fired a round at Fatums kneecap, if the tranq darts didn't hit him, the Hunter's rifle might. Two probe fighters picked him up and were now watching his every move.

The darts bounced around him and clattered off the armor. Fatum had spent much time studying Calaverian weapons, methods and tactics, and he had come prepared. Even the titanium tips couldn't pierce him. The sniper round passed between his legs and he jumped as it tore though the wall behind him, ducking and weaving as he went. They were trying to take him alive! Why? So they could bring him in for questioning? More likely they wanted to make an example of him. Fatum grabbed a grenade from his belt, ripped away the pin with his teeth, and threw it at the huge steel door that marked the entrance to the Administrative complex. The grenade connected and detonated, blowing a hole in it several feet tall and across, allowing him to dive though out into the street. His Stalker was still there, thank Qonn, and he threw himself into the drivers seat, the military vehicle screeching away into the darkness, headlights off.

Sater talked through the communicator with Callin in Berrax language. It was an ancient language, only said by few Berraxs today. The conservation would be translated into this.

"Callin, this is Sater here."

"Sater? Are you alright?"

"Never mind that, the Xiscapians want to know what the device is and where the battleship is possibly, and I need permission from you."

"No, we cannot reveal to anyone what the device is. As for the battleship, its hanging around near the fifth trade routes. I can say no more."

"Very well Callin."

Sater then turned to Lio and regrettably could not tell her what the device was. He did tell the location of the battleship.

Unfortunately, Sater and Callin had no idea the Berrax battleship was being attacked by several Imperial battleships.

Celestis...
The Stalker screeched around a corner, skidding sharply as Fatum gunned the engine and the vehicle shot forward, down the opposite street from where the Probe fighters were hovering. The assassin knew that he couldn't escape as long as the lock down was in effect, but as long as he was here the lock down wouldn't be lifted, especially considering he had just killed the ruler of an entire nation. The damn Greali had gotten their frigate destroyed and their drop ships captured, so that wasn't an option, and his pod was meant for stealthy insertion onto a planet only, it couldn't get him back out. He would either have to acquire Calaverian bypass codes get into contact with the Greali Black Guards on planet and see if he could coordinate an operation among them to steal a transport.
However, that required him to lose the tail the military had on him now.

He gunned the engine down an alleyway, setting the Stalker to autopilot. Fatum then reached over to the weapons locker, removed his sidearm, and, after shooting the lock off it, grabbed a stick of plastic explosives and strapped it to the underside of the dashboard. He then calibrated the computer to simply drive straight, set the bomb to detonate on impact, and jumped out. Fatum hit the wall squarely and fell, scrambling up to rip the door in the building open and duck inside, shutting it and leaning against the frame, breathing heavily. Outside the Stalker kept going until it crashed into a building at the end of the alley, exploding spectactularly, windows blowing out and the wall of the structure crumbling.

"Just want to talk..." Morga sniggered at the almost universal "Newspeak" of communist regimes. It was time to get this poor fellow to somewhere safe.
A plasma beam-really. A gravimetric funnel could easily redirect such, and while Calveras may have been 'cutting edge' among the Young Races, the damage done to the crust of their planet would not go long unnoted. A mass driver might have done the work, as it would force Morga's shield to focus on more than heat, but Morga was a muri, and one of his ultimate ancestors had been a volcano.
Still, being dead would simplify things, and his major objective now would be to locate this assassin and aid and abet him-Now, had I been clumsy enough for such an attack, where would I flee?
Morga headed for the most likely sector-if the assassin couldn't survive to there, he certanly wasn't worth the time. but Morga had to wait for the African bees anyway-this assassin might prove a pleasant diversion...

Then Sater got a message from the Berrax battleship, they were under attack and could not jump.

Berrax battleship Star Raider

The Star Raider was fighting hard against three Greal battleships (Lekos, Hegemony, Meklon). The Berraxs had received the message from Sater and sent one back. The Meklon hit the flank over and over, while the Hegemony did the same to the other flank. The Lekos attacked the center of the Star Raider. The Berrxas only had a dozen fighters, while the Greal battleships had about a hundred fighters.

Fatum ignored the man on the loudspeaker. He knew the moment he stepped outside he would either be shot, or drugged and captured, tortured, and killed in a most gruesome way to serve as a warning to others who might attack Calaverias. Even now there was a tightening ring of GOU, Hunters, Stalkers and Probe fighters closing in though four or so city blocks around Fatum's building.
"Who are you?"
"No one." the kitsune assassin rasped, tugging a little white phaser-shaped device off his belt. It showed two screens: One a five mile ring around his present location, the other black grid with a deep green background with yellow frequency lines spiking and dropping spastically.
Now that I have a little peace and quiet...

It seemed the closest one was in low orbit, the ship that had initiated the strike on that farm just before he'd eliminated the target. The HAMMER would do as a launch point, even as it's guns swiveled to target Fatum's area. Fatum punched in some coordinates, tapped one of the screens, input another string of coordinates, and held the thing up. "The Great Leader is dead," he grinned at the kid, winking, "long live the Great Leader."
Then he was gone.

The personal beaming device had been expensive, but the Alumina didn't spend all their time shooting Danaversians and designing ships. Fatum, in a mess of particles, was shot from his current point up to the beaming station on the HAMMER. From there the HAMMER, influenced by the device, beamed him back down again to just inside the five mile radius. The Xiscapian landed inside the silent local private sector of this part of Celestis. Everything was dark and still, the buildings and streets abandoned by their former owners upon the government takeover of all businesses.

From here Fatum could make it on foot out to what passed for the wilderness here: A small strip of cold plains, forest, lakes and mountains surrounded by city and farmland. Now that he was no longer being tracked, he could find a way to contact sympathetics and the surviving Black Guards on this world and see if they could escape. Donning his holographic disguise once more, Fatum stepped out into the street and began to casually jog away from the city center.
Twilight...
Lio bowed her head. "In the meantime, I suggest you get rest. It won't be long until you are reunited with others of your kind." She stood and strode back to the bridge, leaving Sater alone at the table.

OOC:the muri are blocking communications with the Calveran national anthem, and our "cloak" consists of moving us into a dimentional entelechy between E-space and first-level hyperspace. Since our ships have the capacity to close a Jump Point on a vessel, it seems likely we would use this ability, but equally likely we would shunt ourselves and the Berrax ships out of harm's way, allowing the Greal ships to assume we'd been vaporized until they realized there wasn't near enough debris. We could tow the damaged ships-sadly, at no more than light-speed-while cloaked, which would get them out of danger swiftly enough the Greali forces would not initiate pursuit, but I will leave it up to you, as my purpose is entirely to save the Berrax and move them to safety, keeping the Berrax battleship as a propaganda tool.
If not, your missiles will be met with an energy web, which will siphon off the missile's energies, drawing the web to it's energy source with explosive consequences. I would suggest we simply shimmer off, allowing the explosions of the missile barrage to cover us, but will respect your decision regarding the whole thing-the stats on the Battlecrabs are here (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=537021), in the last post of the thread(post #49, in the event someone's left a comment)

OOC:If I tow it in the dimensional fold, which was my intention, your attack wouldn't be a consideration-it's occuring in E-space, while the ships are nestled in-between E-space and first-level hyperspace, hence my suggestion we allow you to think you've destroyed us.

The Greal forces, confident they have in fact destroyed the offending fleet, begins sifting through the wreckage, and finds there isn't enough debris, as the muri tow the Berrax ship through the shift between E-space and hyperspace-at the speed of light, as they can't move faster there-allowing the Berrax safe passage to New Berrax under the protection of the Great Leader, and leaving the Greal with a diplomatic grievance against the muri of Pamaltela and the belief they've destroyed their foes, until they weigh the wreckage.

We are traversing a dimension a bit beyond your sensors-not quite E-space, but not quite hyperspace either. It's between, rather like your senses encompassing both sides of a sheet of paper, but not noting what goes on in the page itself. You have conquered hyperspace to the extent you have FTL travel, but we are in that brief moment of transition-a point not in E-space, but neither in hyperspace-we do not exist in either, but in that transitional space between the two. Your ships visit here for perhaps a microsecond or two, but we ARE here, transitted between the two realms in a mathematical limbo, bound by the laws of both and neither-sandwiched in a realm you know must exist, but is beyond. You know to enter hyperspace, there is a transition-one realm where light is the maximum speed, another where it is not-we are in the point of transition, between matter and energy-here we flow-quite beyond your sensors, though perhaps we are a gravimetric ripple, as a ship passing in hyperspace may exhibit, but we are not in E-space anymore, any more than we are in hyperspace. Your hyperspace beacons do not reflect us,nor do your more conventional scans, nor may we interact with them in any substantive way-we are sandwiched between entelechies, forced to live by the strictures of both-the end effect is we are as diaphonous as a phantom, and as registerable-we are limping away at the speed of light. Your sensors will record the explosion, you see no more enemies, and you will simply realize there isn't enough debris to account for the ships and the missiles.
I admit it's a dirty trick, but if this were your advantage, wouldn't you press it? Muri technology operates under Clarke's Third Law-or, to quote Space:1999:you know the basic physics, you just don't know the loopholes.
If you like, I can downgrade to something more physics compatible, providing a vibratory field allowing for a 1:179 chance of hitting the targets-but in this case, they get to fire back-but I have always abhorred geekspeak replacing true Science Fiction, and I doubt a string of mathematical formulae would enhance any pleasure in the game, other than for those drooling in their mother's basements hoping I'll drop such data.

A couple of minutes later Overseer Erus sat in the War Room, ignoring the blood on the floor and the far wall riddled with bullets, the balcony chipped and cracked by the slugs. The kitsune waited patiently, wondering if what he had heard was true. It had been said if the Great Leader was assassinated another exactly like him would take his place. If so, Erus vitally needed to speak with Kash Wilson's successor: That is, Kash Wilson, the new Great Leader.

"It was all in that report you threw at the messenger bringing the latest news from Glamour." Muritan sighed. "Captain Ragnar met with a Kash Wilson clone in the Barrens-the cybermats politely supplied us with the video record-it's time-stamped and as foolproof as cybermat records can be."
"Do the cybermats know we have it?" the Voivode grinned. "We're going to send an ambassador to Greal-Sister Jhamba of the Ordo Xiola Umbari has studied their races, hasn't she?"
"Only for about two hundred and fifty years, Excellency." Muritan replied. "I would suggest another order, though-the Greali are terribly lax regarding the safety of ambasadors, and the Order is well-loved by the people..."
"All the more reason to send her-the Xiola Umbari are healers and pacifists-only a fool would kill one, especially given the love which we-and the Zorak Zorani-have for them." the Voivode smiled, then. Talon pulled into orbit around Celestis, cloaked in that odd realm between E-space and first-level hyperspace where it was unseen, but still interacted with both realms.
The African bees it had collected had spawned two fresh generations in Talon's bowels, but Talon knew his master's desires, and had raised their aggression levels by regular thefts of their rich honey-a bit of an added bonus, but Morga loved when his property profitted from his orders, so Talon, too, was pleased.
His master was hiding, but Talon knew how to contact him-the muri preferred to use insect frequencies,as most races didn't bother to monitor them-too much going on.
Dipping into the atmosphere, Talon sent out the usual hail. Morga would contact him in due time, and there was much honey to be had while waiting...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Morga watched the impromptu meeting-far too many for him to get safely offworld, and their plans were escape-not conducive to his own. As much as he should like allies, fifty was far too easily detected, though their attempts to escape might provide cover for his own plans.
"Master, are you there? I have-" Irritated, Morga slapped his communicator off. Talon was in orbit, but his transmission may have betrayed Morga's location. The muri pulled into the shadows, hoping that the men hadn't heard. Urban dwellers tended not to look up, but sadly, there were not enough gargoyles in Celestis for Morga to successfully ape one. Help you...do whatever the hell it is you're doing. It's not like we've got much of a choice: He's the man with the ship, after all, and I don't relish the idea of trying to overpower him. Even if we succeed...well, I hear that whatever you do to or for one Muri, it affects your standing with others...
"Morga, kingpin of Tenfour, known to be subtle (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MmI9gAyNPyE) and dangerous. This just got complicated.." he muttered softly to Malker as way of explanation. "We'll do whatever you need," he told Morga. "We'll release these monsters for you."
Gate...
The Gate began to glow and a form appeared, quickly materializing to become General Caedo. His gaze (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uv9p7h4oO3A) swept across the assembled men and machines as he stood on the platform, hands behind his back. The kitsune had the standard rust-colored ears and white-tipped tail and yellow eyes, but his hair was like obsidian in hue and his skin was sallow in the bright light. His expression and general demeanor gave off the sense that he was restraining himself, with difficulty, from killing you.
"Where is the Lieutenant General?" he asked softly, but his voice carried to every soldier, whether he was standing in ranks or inside the cockpit of a war machine. Once the man who bore this rank approached Caedo directed him to stand on the platform behind him as he strolled leisurely up and down the lines of GOU.
"Now listen to me, you diseased heathens. I am going to teach you soldiering, the galaxy's finest profession. Not this marching up and down, killing your superior officer and eating each others bollocks shit that you have been doing for the past decade. When I'm done with you you'll be able to stand up and kill your fellow sentient like civilized men. Good soldiers don't think: They just obey. Years of brainwashing, cloning and pounding propaganda into your skulls has drilled this into your conscious so it is a second nature, therefore I will not need to worry if you will follow orders from a xeno." He looked over them again, a slight feral smile spreading across his face.
"I can tell by the foolish expressions on your faces," he announced despite the fact that the troops under his command all wore helmets, "that you are going to be crack troops. It is up to me alone to change you from the military that has, quite frankly, gotten it's ass handed to it on a silver platter in the past and change you into a feared fighting force. In less than a weeks time either Calaverias will declare war on Greal, or Greal will declare war on Calaverias. You need to be ready. Constant vigilance is key, on and off the battlefield. When you engage the enemy, where the battle is, whether it's on your homeland or theirs, depends on how well you fight. The future of Calaverias rests with it's military, and that is you. Should Qonn and state allow it, I will march you all the way to Meklon on Nova Reginix!"
He stared at them, yellow eyes glowing maliciously. "Once you've fought under my command, no Greali, be it human or Techar or Berrax or Remelar or Galax, will be able to stand in your way."
The Great Leader let go of Erus's chair and walked back to the front of the white table. The Great Leader nodded " Xiscapia will come with aid, then I will declar war against the Greali, inform your leaders" He turned his back to Erus and looked out a window " I know death Erus's I have experienced it over a thousand times, but yet I wake up... Erus wondered if the Great Leader had ever seen the Xiscapian oil painting that he knew to hang in the Palace in the Conference Room. It was entitled A gunshot to the head of Tredemption and it depicted Commander Durc on Space Station Protector firing his rifle into the head of Kash Wilson. The real, true Kash Wilson, not one of his clones. The newspapers all over the nation had come out the next day with headlines screaming triumphently about his death. It was not unlike this.
Erus did not so much as touch the newspaper, but he remained silent. The Great Leader would get whatever it was out of his system soon enough.
--Talon, to me. Take your time-full stealth--Morga spoke into his bracer, his words carried upon the insect communication frequencies so overladen with static, but Talon knew his master's voice. Already, Morga could feel the ship's telepathic tendrils reaching out in a warm embrace as he turned to the Black Guard and Fatum.
"Excellent, dear boy-most excellent. This little scheme is a bit more than I believe I could carry out alone, but it coincides with all our interests.
"It's very simple, really-we will carry the hives through the sewers of Celestis, beneath the Administrative Building, where I shall hack the systems, and drain the toilets for a routine cleaning-forcing blasts of air back up the system to unclog blockages. Except I'm going to send our little friends, who will be most irate by this treatment, filling the building with angry African bees with most predictable results. Once we are done with that, we will rendevous at the ship and be off. I'll drop you off at a nuetral space station where you can arrange your own transport home, then we can part amicably."
OOC:Concerned enough that I warned the Greali troops about them a few posts ago, before you ordered them used? And as far as KABAL goes, it may be the bee's knees where you're from, but it's already made quite a few errors. It's search pattern for the widgets revealed the widgets operating in ways they were already stated as not using, employing unit tactics, when it was stated they tend to run about singly and break into systems individually. This textual error indicates that the widgets have compromised KABAL and fed it misinformation, or that they are on the verge of occupying the entire system. An AI is nice-don't get me wrong-but they really can't outthink an organic brain-it's the time an organic takes inputting data that gives the AI the edge. The widget, on the other hand, is an aggressive sentient virus designed to deal with this situation, while KABAL is a security program designed to protect Calveras' governmental systems, now being employed in an emergency to perform beyond it's function. While the widgets will simply spit out another string to compromise yet another system, KABAL must identify and isolate each widget without being compromised itself, a task it will find more difficult as it covers more territory, especially as the widgets will infect it as well, given a chance. My poor forgotten fifinella has been in your system for some time, and it has also been stated a bored fifinella tends to reproduce, and they are much cleverer than the widgets...
OOC:It's advanced technology from an Elder Race-you're not supposed to understand it to give the race it's mystery and antiquity. Just turn the key and go, so to speak. The idea for the widgets is Roald Dahl's, first espoused in his book "The Gremlins", sadly out of print. However, Greg Bear's "Blood Music" expounds on the concept of a sentient organic virus, and for me, it was a short leap from the sentient organic virus to a sentient computer virus. Much like the Gault protoplasm, which I explained to establish Morga's bona fides when he rewrote the hardware in your cloning facility to produce frogs instead of Kash Wilson, the actual explanation of how it works is secondary to it's function, and muri tend to use alchemical and mystical jargon instead of geekspeak to explain their technology.
I am running on the assumption that Calveran technology is at about a 70's Battlestar Galactica level-FTL capacity, advanced energy systems, base teleporter/replicator technology, but a bit more advanced in medical technology. My explanations on Calveran tech have been fairly simplistic, as I have no idea how you mass produce the clones without significantly reducing their lifespan, but with the three day download, I'd suppose a five-ten year adult life is more than acceptable. Rest assured, I have a significant respect for and understanding of Calveran technology, with the caveat that while the da Vinci helicopter is a marvel of engineering, you wouldn't want to rely on one in a dogfight.
The muri are an ancient people-their history begins before Creation, when they arose in the Void from which all things later emerged. To their knowledge, there is one race older than them, and they believe that race-the dragonewts-are now extinct, as none have been seen for eons. They are spacefarers who ride the Sea of Stars in organic ships, and have a technology more based in organics and psionics than the route humans took of machinery and energy, though one of their many Orders is dedicated to deciphering standard technology. Their last Great War took place around the tenth century AD, and one of that war's many effects was to eradicate the Norse culture, as well as diminish their numbers greatly.
Now approximately two billion strong, the muri enjoy such niceties as sentient computer viruses, biological implants and symbiotes bred to various purposes, and sentient energy constructs created to perform various acts. Their technology is way out there-figure that their space age started when humanity were rats dodging dinosaurs, and they've improved since then. With a sixty-five million year head start, they have all sorts of bizarre technology, both developed on their own or obtained from other races, some long-dead. I will try to explain everything as best I can, and do not be afraid to ask me for more details until you understand-it would be churlish of me not to explain everything.
--Talon, to me. Take your time-full stealth--
Talon heard his master's voice, and telepathically probed until he located him. As much as he would prefer to hover at atmosphere's edge, soaking up the energies of hyperspace in wait, he had been called, and never had he disobeyed that voice.
Within the Einsteinian Space-Time Continuum-E-space-one is limited to the speed of light, which is why FTL requires leaving E-space to enter hyperspace, a dimension where roiling energies allow for much faster travel. Talon was in the membrane between the two realities, and thus limited to light speed, but his master had ordered "full stealth", which put him under further limits, as his 1.5 km long body would create ripples too noticeable within a planetary atmosphere-he crawled, slower than sound to avoid notice, seeking out his master's unique mental engrams.
Morga was moving, with several organics following him-however, he was far too calm for them to be pursuers, his cold rage and their dimishing numbers would tell Talon Morga was in danger, and the ship would disobey then, to save his master. He had hatched with Morga's song in his mind, and the two traversed the whole of Komor together. To be without that song-Talon refused to contemplate further.
Morga and the others had hidden in caves some eleven miles outside a city of alien construct-Talon did some rapid calculations based on the size of the planet, and knew they were just beyond the horizon so far as the city was concerned.
Lowering, he scanned discretely, and generated a field in perfect resonance with the surroundings, extending perhaps 100 feet beyond his mass-small creatures would skitter within the field, but he could mimic their efforts with the field, preventing detection and keeping him from growing bored.
Slowly, he extended himself into E-space, taking in atmospheric matter to avoid the disturbance caused as his mass displaced the air, careful to extract only so much of the atmosphere as his mass would displace, exhaling it in similarly discrete amounts. Once fully within E-space, his camouflage field in place, he risked a telepathic meep to let Morga know where he was.
Magnificent work Morga psent to Talon, his frame quivering slightly from praise.Now, raise the field six feet from the ground-our allies must see you
Talon puzzled at that, but complied-allies, not friends or guests-he must be silent, save in Morga's mind, and be an inert shell for these creatures...
As the Greali Black Guard and Fatum watched, a shimmering from the Wastes raised up, revealing the bottom of a black spined form which glistened oddly. Morga walked towards it, his head and shoulders vanishing briefly as he did so.
"Come along, gentlemen-we have a ship to unload, and much work before we go."
Taking his cue from Morga's words, Talon extended a ramp for Morga and the creatures in his company. The bees are safely in their hives?
Yes, Master-all sealed as ordered Talon was slightly miffed-he wasn't a child, but Morga seemed concerned for the creatures with him. Should I scan them?
Most assuredly, sweetness Morga psent. They are armed and very dangerous, but I want you to know them-they may be returning without me and I want them allowed into the cargo holds unless with me
"Gentlemen, this will take us safely offworld-but let me warn you, any attempts to plumb it's secrets or deface it will be met by the automated security system-which is not know for it's gentility or mercy."
With that warning, Morga ascended the ramp, turning to watch the Greali and Fatum, to see if they would follow...
The kitsune had heard the round being loaded too, but it hadn't been all that close. He wondered if the Muri knew what he suspected, that there were Calaverians around. Lio waved her hand dismissively. "Androids, almost exclusively. They would be detected by heat sensors, and if they were communicating with a superior the transmissions would be observed. No, what we have here is either a highly supernatural being, or an extremely effective A.I. with a strange sense of humor. I'm inclined to discount the ladder, because machines, even intelligent A.I.s, don't possess the kind of...flair, the style that this terrorist does. But the being this manhunt is searching for it definitely not human, that is for sure. I don't think your forces will be able to capture him. Kill him, possibly, but someone like this is too dangerous to take alive."
Undisclosed Location...
It was a bar, like any of the other billions littering the universe. A little hole-in-the-wall, unnoticeable, which served no food, only some of the worst drink ever tasted. But you didn't come here to enjoy yourself: You came here to exchange money for things, money for services, for some to watch money and things change hands, to speak with those who wouldn't speak elsewhere.
You came here for business, not pleasure.
In the corner, sitting at a scratched, stained table was a single figure. This person wore a cloak with a hood, shadowing their features excepting the mouth, which was frequently covered as they brought a mug of some of the horrible beer to their lips. The cloak wasn't unusual, not around here: Most of the patrons wore masks, helmets, bandages, cloaks, long robes, or even whole suits, either to sustain life in an environment not suited for non-oxygen breathers, or to hide their identity or race. Bluish cigarette smoke covered the ceiling from view, and it was dingy in the place, corners and backrooms cast into gloom. The soft murmur of conversation was muffled by the tinny, static-filled music emitting from beat-up speakers in the ceiling, ensuring privacy except for those close-by ease droppers or the clever.
The figure waited silently, patiently. His contact was late, but knowing the background of the man, that was to be expected: First impressions with new employers weren't important to him. There was any of a dozen others to carry out the task, but this one had what none of the others did: Deniability. This was important, not necessary to the person sitting at the table, but it was crucial to his employers, and that made it onto the radar for him. The form lowered the glass, a ever so slight smile gracing the lips as it saw the man in question enter. Sharp teeth glistened in the dull light for a moment before vanishing as the contact approached.
Redemption moved slowly to the robed figure. A smile accross his lips, his red eyes had an almost playful look to them. He was dressed in what looked to be a nearly some kind of armor, but it was deactivated. In this state it was like a skin-tight, black suit with guantlets, boots, a collar, and greeves, all of which were a dark blue color. The only visible weapons were his signature modified Dragoncry pistols. As he got closer to the robed man he gave a slight nod and sat down in front of the robed figure.
Redemption had dyed his hair for this job, blond at the base and black at the top, gelled, and combed back. A slight change to his normal, spiky brown hair but anything that could help was welcomed. "Well, well. Look at this, I never expected to get a call from you guys but... well, doing what I do, I guess a name can get around after awhile." "Quickly and, if you're any good, quietly," came the answer as a small unmarked white folder was slid across the table. Inside there was a picture (http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj98/Buckdiddy/mountain.jpg) of a landscape, a second picture of a human (http://tbn0.google.com/images?q=tbn:Fn2vvXONwEALDM:http://media.canada.com/07594e89-b6a2-4c43-823c-507cf9085fdd/1020-sex-norman.jpg), a third of another human wearing a suit of armor (http://theotherdave.files.wordpress.com/2007/12/stormtrooper.jpg), and a fourth and final photo of what appeared to be a gigantic ant. With these were two pieces of paper: One appeared to be a short bibliography, and the other seemed to consist of military reports.
A gloved hand tapped at the second picture. "This is your target, one Rollins Dallix, former President of the Intergalactic Empire of Greal. He was removed quite recently from office by Congress, and officially he was to become governor of one of the planets. However it is said he openly opposed the President Emperor, Ziller Remetrix," he indicated the fourth photo, "and he abruptly fell off the board. We have found that he has been forcibly relocated to a world called Pamp, within the Intergalactic Empire.
We believe he is going to be killed by Greali assassins on Pamp once everyone forgets about him, to quietly tie up loose ends and remove any opposition to the power of the new President Emperor. We have a contract for you in regards to this, and it is threefold: Firstly, we wish for you to infiltrate the place he is staying. Our Intelligence does not know his exact location, and he could be in a countryside cottage to enjoy his, ahha, retirement, or he could be held in a prison for political dissidents. It will be up to you to ascertain his precise location, though we believe he is being treated as an innocent civilian.
Secondly we believe the former President stole some Intelligence, military and or political, to aide the Berrax rebel faction with. If it exists, if Dallix has any documents, photos or data with him of a military or political nature, you are to recover this intelligence and bring it to us. If it is located on a network, especially a military system, you are to upload the entire network onto a holding device and bring it all to us.
Finally you are to find the man himself. Find out though him if he has any information. If he does, but he has not written it down or recorded it for fear of capture or observation, you are to kidnap him and bring him to us. If he gives you any data of any kind, bring it to us. If at that point he has nothing more to give, or yields no information at all, you are to terminate him. He will probably be guarded," he gestured to the third picture, "by local police, who have manufactured or acquired Imperial Stormtrooper armor, though he may not know it. You are not to allow Dallix to die until he is of no more use to you, and if he holds information in his head you must keep him alive until you can bring him to us. That bibliography and report sheet both concern Dallix, both in history and personality.
You are authorized to use any means necessary to retrieve the intelligence or bring Dallix in. If you are pinned down, we cannot and will not help you. If you are captured we will deny ever having spoken to you. We will pay you five hundred thousand credits for a successful completion of this contract. Your deadline is here, ninety-six standard hours, beginning on your acceptance of the contract." The form sat back, watching Redemption expectantly.
It had some of the best cloaking and navigation systems around, most of which was actually stolen, perfect for an assassination job. There were two figures in the craft, both of them had grayish skin, red eyes, and hair that started black but then went white. He handed one of them the star chart and took a seat at the controls. "Navigation." The figure with the map went over it for about a minute before pushing a few buttons on the console in front of it. In an instant, the cloaked ship was gone from orbit and came out over the planet that Red's mission was located on. "Excellent, you both will stay in cloak and out of trouble, understand?" Both nodded. "I must make a few preparations and then I will move out."
The world of Pamp
Governor Rollins Dallix was sweating nervously in the sunlight, as he and his escort left the Governor Residence. The planet was mountainous, so it made it hard to travel around the planet. Greal engineers built a massive "rail" line around the planet, made it fast to travel around.The Lieutenant Governor, Jacob, was a Remelar and he and Jacob talked about the politics on the planet. A large majority of the Remelars lived on Pamp and some were anti-Techar, luckily, they found allies in Rollins. Rollins however, was watched by the Black Guard always. His residence was bugged everywhere, and black Guards accompanied him all the time, making it hard for him to contact these "rebellious" Remelars. He arrived at a Spaceport to watch the repairs of the battleship, Fear. Next to the battleship was a massive shipbuilding dock that was currently building a superfortress with more firepower then the Klackon. Several hundred thousand androids were working on the superfortress. Rollins then reluctantly left the spaceport and ehaded back to his residence.
The figure at tactical began pressing buttons on its keyboard, "Mountains, expect foot based travel to be difficult. There is some kind of structure, a rail network of some kind. We can detect one structure but cannon determine what it is with only a surface scan. But there is something in orbit, some kind of docking bay... or construction yard." Red smiled at the second part, "Damn, sounds like something I wanna get ahold of. I wonder what they're building... man, I kinda want to blow this mission off and cap me some of that. Nah, can't do that, I have a reputation..." He looked to the figures, "Be discreet. I'm ready, get me near that structure. Not too close though."
With a nod and the push of a button he was gone. A moment later he found himself with an amazing view, "Jeez, not what I had in mind..." He activated his suit, a helmet appeared over his face and his body became more heavily armored. It was obviously a strong armor, but it was also sleek and dark blue in color. Red looked at his palm as the camo system kicked in. He was now invisible, and from what he had read, practically undetectable, the armor would tone down heat signatures and other things that could give him away. "Time to get to work..." he muttered.
OCC: Greali, tell me if this isnt fair, but I don't think you could find and fire at me, seeing as you ran, alerting my sniper that he was spotted.
The Hunter saw the spreading of the Greali guards, and the enemy sniper. While the Greali black guards, he was already taking aim at the Greali with the bolt gun. He pulled the trigger the railgun tore through the atmosphere, leaving blue-green trail towards the Greali. The Hunter waited for a split second to see what happend.
The Great Leader smiled, his eyes were red from what could be lack of sleep. " How about now commander?" He pressed a button, and airraid sirens began to go off all over the planet. Proganda speakers began to blair " Alert all military personal, ready for duty. Report to your nearest barracks for militarization." The sirens continued to wine throughout the planet, even on Observers in Orbit. " Prepare to fight the War against the Greali animals, our Great Leader says Victory is immenint!" GOU began marching down streets to be beamed aboard the Observer fleet in orbit. The Great Leader nodded to Caedo " Your troops have boarded the Observer Marathon, she along with her army's are under your command." He smiled as a beam encomposed Caedo bringing him to the bridge of the Marathon, which also contained a Kitsune overseer.
Red hadn't recieved a mission like this for quite some time; he was used to being on a battlefield with a lot of support and loud noises all around him. Instead he was playing the role of a black op, or an assassin. He looked around and decided that the lack of response to his arrival meant no one had seen him. He began scaling the ridge he was on, trying to find a better view and posibly the structure he'd been told about. Once he made it to a good ledge he took a good look around, there was some building in the distance. Well that should be the first place I check out... With that thought, Red was on his way, he wasn't intending to waste the time he'd been given to complete this task.
Fatum dove away as he heard shots fired, vanishing from the sight of all as he ducked under inertia-dampening field that cloaked the Talon. He crouched low, watching from relative safety, wondering how this would affect Morga's plans and whether they would change his chances of survival at all. Probably as soon as the sniper fired, he decided, they dropped significantly.
Marathon...
Caedo's face was bathed in red light as the sirens blared, coolly surveying the vessel under his command, somewhat surprised by the abrupt change in location but refusing to show it. The white-robed overseer, a dirty blonde haired kitsune with rare green eyes and a white katana stood nearby, standing as still and composed as a statue. Caedo nodded once to himself, catching the Overseers eye. A test. Both for him and those under his command.
"Where would the Great Leader have me attack, and what vessels are coming with me?" he asked over the intercom to the clone. Meanwhile the Overseer, whose name was Kem, was speaking in low tones to the Captain and trying to find out where they were going.
The A.I KABAL was suited for goverment/military operations, and was used in all Observers these days. It had a deep tone that slightly echoed. A holographic image of known Greali planets came up, as well as possible colony's and outposts. KABAL then spoke to Caedo " The Great Leader has instructed you to help destroy the Greali Empire at all costs, may I recommend attacking outer colony's to make an example, send a message that there terrorist activity will not be tolerated..." It awaited Caedo's decision, he had to choose in the end.
She shook her head. "But are we hunting terrorists or going to war?"
Marathon...
Caedo stared along at all the holograms of the planets he could attack. There were many...so many. All, he knew, had their own functions. Some were only colonies, some were industrial powerhouses, some were paradise worlds. He spotted a world, and smiled. It would be perfect: Governed by the locals with minimal intervention from the Greali, any defending force would be small, it would fall quickly from an unexpected attack on a world housing a conquered race. An excellent stepping-stone for his penetration into the Intergalactic Empire.
The Marathon appeared in a flash of light, cannon charged up to 100%. Caedo grimaced as the first scanner sweeps revealed that the system was heavily fortified, much more so then he had first thought. One Observer wasn't going to take Pamp...he'd need as many Observers as he could get. "Tell the Great Leader to send as many Observers as he can..." breathed Caedo to the Communications Officer. "Target and fire the main cannon at the Mobias Class Superbattleship." he ordered. They should not be expecting an attack, and if the Calaverians were lucky, they would not have had time to raise the shields. The cannon would tear though even the thickest armor and blow the ship apart...
But he wouldn't he the firepower to take on two fleets. Caedo estimated he'd need 4-7 more Observers to take and secure the system for Calaverias.
However, as soon as the Marathon jumped into the system, it was confronted by something else. Check my factbook, I described my mines a long time ago, it has an identification system
I looked, and all it says is "Mines are objects that are placed in formations around in space, if a enemy ship goes near a minefield, the mines fly toward the enemy ship. Mines also "attack" neutral ships. Greal ships are equipped with a special device to 'tell" mines not to "attack" Greal ships." Okay, so? If it collides with a Greali ship it's still going to explode or at least destroy itself, it can't just choose when to detonate unless it has a timer, which I note they do not.
I didn't know the Observer jumped into my fleet. My fleet would have jumped away.
You never said that. Also, your entire fleet would have jumped? All of it, in perfect synchronization, without formal contact with each other, without being hit by any weapons?
I looked, and all it says is "Mines are objects that are placed in formations around in space, if a enemy ship goes near a minefield, the mines fly toward the enemy ship. Mines also "attack" neutral ships. Greal ships are equipped with a special device to 'tell" mines not to "attack" Greal ships." Okay, so? If it collides with a Greali ship it's still going to explode or at least destroy itself, it can't just choose when to detonate unless it has a timer, which I note they do not.
You never said that. Also, your entire fleet would have jumped? All of it, in perfect synchronization, without formal contact with each other, without being hit by any weapons?
However, the mines "resumed' attacking the ship. There were still too many mines for the large Observer to avoid and they would not explode if they hit Greali ships so they simply disabled themselves before they hit their own ships. Wrath Class Battleships began firing their Super Heavy Plasma cannons which were made by Allanea, and they fired at the Observer which had jumped into their own fleet. Meanwhile, hundreds of Greal fighters came out of the hangers to fight their nearly equally opponents. Defensive platforms launched a massive barrage of missiles. The Superbattleship was protected by defensive platforms, which were destroyed by the beam. The superbattleship simply jumped away to avoid the rest of the beam, but a frigate became unlucky and was split in half. Frigates quickly became annoying by jumping and firing, then jumping before the enemy could shoot back. The Greal carriers quickly jumped away to avoid the Observer's destruction, but the rets of the ships stayed behind to launch one massive blast of weapons.
Reinforcements were called for from Nova Reginix, The naval command decided to send their superfortress Klackon in, which was newly refitted again.....
The Marathon had been somewhat protected by emerging right in the middle of the enemy fleet, but it still took damage, weapons smashing against the shields. They dropped to ninety percent, and the Observer continued to spit fire at the enemy, AA turrets aiming for fighters while the thirty plasma cannons continued their assault on all nearby ships. A inhibitor field was deployed, covering the entire system and preventing any FTL jumps unless the Marathon lifted the field or was destroyed. Most of the missiles traversed though the fighters and entered the missile-scrambling fields the Probe fighters put out, causing the missile computers to become confused and either go off-course or explode too early. The others were destroyed by the AA turrets covering the Marathon or collided with debris or other ships, but a few hit the shields to weaken them further. The fighter battle was hot and furious, dogfighting ships spinning, spiraling, twisting and banking around each other as they fired off plasma and lasers. The Calaverian fighters were heavily armored and their chin-mounted heavy plasma cannon could swivel all the way around the craft and hit enemy ships on any side.
The Viper fighters had a hard time locking, with everything confusing, it seemed like both sides lost their computers for a moment. One hundred Viper Mark II fighters arrived from the planet. Viper Mark II was more heavily armored and had upgraded weapons. It was spectacular to fighter son both sides being blown apart by AA weapons. Greal frigates and cruisers provided AS gunfire on the enemy fighters. Captain Jaller onboard the superbattleship gave the word to fire its most powerful, but very unstable weapon, the Mauler Superweapon at the Observer. Everyone onboard held their breath when it was fired, and the ship shook for a moment, causing a few computer crashes.
The frigates and Cruisers were being assaulted by the plasma cannons repeatedly, the weapons being invisible to the naked eye and showing up as a large energy signature on scanners and sensors. They were down to two hundred and thirty-seven fighters, mainly concentrating on destroying the enemy small craft, turrets spinning fire everywhere. AA turrets continued their deadly work, and in this battle on could be hit by friendly fire as easily as enemy. Plasma cannon fire would tear though anything in their path until they were stopped by shields, a malicious force ripping fighters apart in swaths as they moved though the void.
On board the Marathon the windows dimmed as the Mauler Superweapon fired to prevent the crew from being blinded by the brilliant flare, and the shields shuddered and dropped to a mere sixty percent strength. Caedo grinned, pointing at the Superbattleship. "Fire the plasma ping, now!"
"But sir," came back a Calaverian, "we've only recharged to thirteen percent-"
"I don't care!" roared Caedo. "Do it!"
The ping was fired, rather weak and at such a power that would only heavily damage a frigate-sized vessel, directly at the Mauler weapon on the Superbattleship. Caedo had heard the weapons, though incredibly powerful, was notoriously unstable, and he hoped this attack would tilt the mass over the edge and cause the unbalanced weapon to melt down and destroy itself, and with it, the Superbattleship. Rumor had it that this occasionally happened, and Caedo was banking on it.
Battle of Pamp
The sensors detected the plasma ping heading toward the superweapoin which was exposed. Jaller panicked and screamed at one of the officers.
"Close it now!" he didn't want his ship to end up like the battleship Rex, Rex carried the superweapon and successfully tested on one of the old Calaverian Observers, shortly after, the weapon melted down and exploded, turning the whole ship and its crew to dust. Shortly after that, the Naval Command halted all production of it, then a protection measure was placed on the weapon. But if it was exposed, then the protection was useless.
The Plasma Ping and the protection closed at the same time and the whole superbattleship shook so hard, the power went out for a second, then it was back on.
"Status report?" asked Jaller, very afraid of a meltdown.
"Shields down to eighty-five percent. The weapon is intact, but it is now vulnerable if we try to fire it again."
"We may not fire it again." said Jaller.
Greal Viper Mark IIs began dogfighting the enemy fighters, while, their weaker counterparts Viper Mark I fired their anti-matter missiles at the Observer. Striker Class Battleships began firing their Megabolt cannons and their hellfire/antimatter missiles. The battle continued.
The Observer's shield strength dropped again, though this time it was noticeably smaller than when the Superweapon had been fired, down to fifty-five percent. Missiles were continually intercepted by the AA turrets or thrown off their targets by the scrambling field, and the megabolt cannons, powerful as they were in their own right, did little. The Marathon had been produced as a Surgical class Observer with one aim in mind: Fleet-killer. Even if it couldn't destroy this entire fleet by itself, it would be able to fight them to a standstill, and there were others coming...
The plasma cannons kept up their barrage (ooc: you've been ignoring the plasma cannon attacks, please respond) on the frigates and Cruisers while the Ping slowly charged up once more.
Battle of Pamp
The cruiser Black One suddenly exploded after being hit by plasma cannons. Nearby enemy and friendly fighters were blown to pieces since the explosion was so massive. The result was debris left. The frigate, Freedom was heavily damaged and its shields were dropping to forty percent. Fighters, corvettes and gunboats continued the battle. Onboard the superbattleship, Captain Jaller ordered his crew to fire the Super Laser, a weapon only used for last resort. Jaller didn't want to risk a meltdown in the Mauler weapon.
"Charged?"
"We have been charging it for the whole battle." replied one of the officers
"Fifteen percent, General."
"Not enough. Divert the engine power to the Superlaser, then. I want that thing ready to fire in five."
"It will be done, General."
"Release all remaining fighters into the battle. Continue to prioritize targets, hold fast, and inform me when the reinforcements are seven seconds out and the Superlaser has been fully charged."
"Yes General."
Ten of the thirty cannons began to fire on the Superbattleship. The other twenty kept up their barrage on the frigates and cruisers. The last three hundred fighters waiting in the hangers flew out into battle, surprising the enemy fighters coming in from seemingly nowhere. Now the odds were evened, with the Greali and Calaverans having roughly the same number of fighters deployed, give or take a hundred from either side. "Ah, and are his systems being scrambled like those of my friends?" Morga was conversational, almost bored. "Your little explosion will summon my friends here post haste, while your Grating Leader will have to listen through scramblers as well as try to beam through them, and my friends have but to follow the explosion." Morga studied his claws, casually. "We'll be on our way soon-a dedicated soldier would try to gain more information and escape, but I understand your desire to be quit of this world...it is a desire I share."
OOC:I never said he was weak, only that Morga could crimp his barrel one-handed. If he can match that, I apologise for manhandling him.
OOC: Greal, you can't bring any reinforcements in, I've set up a FTLi field. As the Observers arrived I opened the field for a matter of seconds, the chances of your ships arriving at the exact same time and getting in before the field went down again are astronomical. You're stuck with what you have, I'm afraid. Please edit your post to reflect this and respond to both my attacks and those of NC.
