Objet: 42 "Héros" Undergarments

Ob42 "Héros"

History

During operations on the island of Sétif by both Special Forces and Foreign Legionnaires, many short comings in the standard issue cotton polyester blend of underwear used by all Yanitarian forces became deadly apparent. In the first day, 20 burn victims, civilian, and Yanitarian, were treated throughout the city of Mers-El-Kébir, where their polyester underwear had literally melted, fusing itself to the patients skin. While all but three of the victims survived, doctors immediately recognized that the current underwear was unacceptable for military use.

Furthermore, the "capillary action" of the cloth required the undergarments stay extremely close to the skin to be effective. However because many soldiers chose to wear their hydration back packs directly on their skin while it was still cool, five soldiers succumbed to heat stroke as the water warmed and their shirts were unable to absorb the sweat to dissipate it.

Similarly on the frigid colony of Okhotsk, prison guards and troops stationed the naval station competing in weekly sports competitions often suffered hypothermia as their sweat was unable to evaporate adequately be moved away from their skin.

The Yanitarian Royal Army and the Royal Navy put out a joint tender on the one week anniversary for a versatile line of undergarments and balaclavas that perform well in hot and cold weather, absorb sweat and allows it to dissipate away from the skin, is flame retardant, and IR resistant. For this new wonder underwear, ten companies from various nations and twelve from Yanitaria submitted designs and bids. However, during testing, most immediately failed.

However, one late comer, the small, private Yanitarian company, Lillehammer Undertøy, owned by Kari Svendsen, put forth a promising group of samples. Of course her company did not have the capability to make the clothing IR resistant, however she had recently upgraded much of her shop, allowing her to produce wickered fabric, and treating it to be hydrophilic rather than hydrophobic.

Design

The first process that all of the polyester fabric goes through is a special knitting machine that sonicly fuses two layers of "wicker weave" cloth, leaving air pockets. The under layer is relatively looser, allowing it to draw in the moisture initially, before transferring it to the second layer. The second layer, more tightly woven, draws the moisture from the looser fabric, holding it to allow heat to naturally evaporate the moisture. Because of this unique design, the clothing does not need to be in contact with the skin, and allows the cloth to keep a soldier cold or warm, depending on the weather. Additionally, the cloth can vary in thickness in order to work more efficiently in colder weather.

Of course, the fabric must be then put through Aquatech treatment, which fundamentally changes the properties of the molecule, rearranging it into a weaved lattice pattern in order to create a fabric that is hydrophilic.

Afterwards, the fabric is treated with a sythetic compound in order to suppress flames. However the fabric still burns, and this is unavoidable. However, the advantage lays in the fact that as it burns, it does not melt like regular polyester, and unlike acrylic coatings, does not create toxic fumes. This means that burn patients will not have to have their underwear surgically removed. Combined with the fact that it is not as flammable as cotton or conventional polyesters, it is clearly superior in this aspect.

Finally, a ceramic powder made of zirconium, magnesium oxide, and iron oxide, is applied, that allows the cloth to suppress infrared light. However, this step is largely optional, and it is expected that the Royal Navy will not include this feature in order to save on costs.

In Layman's Terms

The fabric has two layers, that subsequently draw moisture from the body and the air under the clothing into the top layer. There, the water either evaporates, taking heat with it, or blocks the heat inside. The fabric is also given two treatments, one to make it flame resistant, and to make sure that it doesn't melt or release toxic gas, and one that suppresses the reflection of IR light, making it harder for the fabric to be seen on IR vision. The fabric comes in various thicknesses in order to work efficiently in different environments.

The Clothes

The Royal Army and Navy have devised a semi-complicated naming system that allows the wearer to identify the type of garment, fabric, and what treatment it's gone through.

Clothing Types:
T1- Balaclava
T2- "Union suit" one piece underwear with long sleeves and legs, and a back hatch, for extremely cold environments with no indoor plumbing.
T3- Long Sleeved Shirt
T3S- Short Sleeved shirt
T4- under pants, with long legs, similar to the bottom half of a union suit, except with no back hatch.
T5- "Pantalon de héros," boxers
T5P- "Pantalon de poisson" briefs
T6- A pair of socks
T7- Sports Bra
T8- Battle Thong (F1 and S5 fabrics only)

Fabrics:
F1- The lightest possible fabric that is still opaque, silky to the touch. Meant for day to day civilian and peace time use. IR treatment is generally unavailable for this fabric.
F2- Light weight fabric, suitable for extremely hot environments as well as colder climates.
F3- Mid weight fabric, combining the best all around comfort.
F4- The heaviest fabric, suitable for extreme cold, but not as versatile in hotter climates.
S5- Special fabric, made thin enough to be sheer, and extremely soft. Not recommended for military use. Treatments are not available for this fabric type.

Treatments:
R- Flame Retardant
+- IR suppressive

Therefore, a pair of flame retardant, infrared suppressive boxers using mid-weight fabric would be designated "Ob42-T5-F3-R+"

Colors are not specified in the designation system, however they are available in
-Olive Drab
-Black
-Brown
-Grey
-White
-Hot Pink
-Leopard Print

Care

Items are machine washable, however, IR resistant items should be allowed to air dry. Non IR resistant items may be machine dried. Items are guaranteed not to shrink, or we will completely refund the price of the garment

Pricing
In order to figure out the pricing of an item, follow this formula:

Type of clothing price x Fabric number (for F1 fabric, it'd be "1") + 10 (for R) + 10 (for +)

Of course, Flame retardant and Infrared suppressive treatments are optional, and may be omitted is specified.

Clothing type prices:

T1- $5
T2- $30
T3- $10
T4- $20
T5- $10
T5P- $5
T6- $5
T7- $5
T8- $3

Be sure to calculate correctly, as any discrepancy will result in your order being rejected.

However, should you choose, for $500mn dollar investment, Lillehammer Undertøy will build a single factory inside your nations boarders, hiring labour domestically, and will directly fill orders to your military and civilian market, often reducing the price of shipping, and sometimes of labor (although not always). A country may choose to invest in as many factories as it chooses. Private investments are also accepted.

OOC: I know that Balaclavas are not underwear, STFU.

AY-20M

http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i156/UNDComrade/Yanitaria/Guns/AY-20M.png

History:
The history of Yanitarian assault rifles cannot be told with out a lengthy piece about the AY-20. A licensed built copy of the G3, the AY-20 made certain improvements, dealing mostly with the weight and quality of the rifle. It was adopted in 1960, as part of a doctrine that included the earlier AY-1, which would be issued as a second line weapon, and as a stopgap rifle, while the higher quality, more expensive AY-20 served as the main battle rifle.

Ironically, the AY-144, itself a direct decedent of the AY-1, has taken over the role of the AY-20, while the AY-20M fills the role of "second line rifle". The AY-1M fills the role of stopgap rifle.

The AY-20M is a Modernization of the AY-20, which takes advantage of several steps forward in the art of rifle design. This includes the use of modern materials, a balanced action, and the same ambidextrous charging handle as the AY-144, among other things.

Design:
The AY-20M is a Roller-Delayed Balanced Blowback operated rifle, and fires from a closed bolt. The charging handle is a direct copy of the AY-144, in that the handle, which points straight forward in order to conserve space, has a button on the end that releases it to either side. When the charging handle is pulled back, or the last round of a magazine is fired, the bolt catch holds the bolt back, so that a new magazine can be inserted. As soon as the bolt moves forward, the charging handle swivels forward, however at any point, the button on the handle can be pressed again, and the handle set forward. The handle tapers off to two points, so that when it is in the forward position, it may be used as a forward assist. The charging handle does reciprocate, but because of it's low profile, it is not too much of a problem. The bolt is most often pushed forward after reloading using a motion known as the "H&K Slap."

The Bolt itself is made of high grade steel, and the upper receiver is made to fit together very tightly. Much of the lower receiver, and parts of the upper receiver are made of fiber reinforced polymers. The barrel is lined with chromium to decrease wear, and increase barrel life. The bolt is attached to a metal cable and pulley system, which is attached to a counterweight that has it's own spring. This counterweight moves opposite the bolt, eliminating the felt recoil, and greatly improving accuracy. If the cable snaps, the weapon will still fire, however, the recoil will be much greater.

The entire weapon is held together by a series of push pins, which require no tools, and allow the weapon to be disassembled into a small number of parts much faster than with regular screws. Kits may be purchased to fully customize the rifle, including a higher ROF kit, which swaps out the bolt, springs, and counterweight to increase the ROF from 600rpm to up to 900rpm, or a conventional trigger kit, which swaps out the trigger group and safety to a more conventional style. Other minor choices include changing the pistol grip and trigger guard, adding an integral bipod.

The trigger is pressure sensitive, and fires differently depending on the amount of pressure placed on it. A 2.2kg pull will fire a single shot, while a 4.4kg pull will fire a two shot burst. Holding the 4.4kg will cause the rifle to fire in automatic. An ambidextrous safety has two modes, "safe" and "live". The AY-20M comes with two integral rails on the top and bottom, with the option of placing a 3rd and 4th on the sides via push pins. The magazines are semi-transparent in order to allow a soldier to at any time check the amount of ammo left in the mag. The magazine also uses new coupling studs so that several magazines can be attached to it for faster reloading, although it should be noted that the Yanitarian Royal Army only ever attaches two magazines together. The sights use the standard Yanitarian configuration of green tritium rear sights and red tritium foresights. This allows for quick snap firing, with minimal confusion in day or night time settings.

There are three different variations, with a 4th and 5th being planned. These are the AY-20(A) Assault Rifle, the AY-20MB "Para" carbine, and the AY-20C "Commando" Subcarbine.

Performance:
The AY-20M is different from many modern Yanitarian rifles in that it is not a bullpup, and is therefore longer and heavier. However, it has proven itself in field tests against insurgents in Liech to be an effective and trustworthy rifle. The standard 6.5mm Yanit ammunition is an excellent round, and does not cause as much recoil or muzzle climb as either the 7.62x51mm NATO or 7.5x55mm Yanit round used in the G3 and AY-20 (respectively). Because of it's modularity, It will most likely see many years of service with the Yanitarian Royal Army.

Automatic Rifle, Yanitarian, Model 35, Modernized
AY-35M

http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i156/UNDComrade/Yanitaria/Guns/AY-35M.png

History:
In the history of the Yanitarian military, there are a handful of important rifles, of which, the AY-35 filled a major role. During the 1960s and 70s, Yanitaria had just adopted the AY-20, a licensed built copy of the G3 service rifle. Compared to what would become the AY-35, the AY-20 was lighter and more reliable. However, the original AY-20 was very long, with no provisions to make it shorter.

Henri Dumontier, the owner of a small arms import company, obtained design plans for the FN FAL and FNC in 1977, and combined the two to create the AY-35 (at the time called the Dumontier Hybrid Rifle, Model 35, or the DHR-35). The AY-35 was not as effective as the AY-20, but it did offer a "Para" model, and a "Heavy Automatic Rifle" variant. The idea of a common rifle and squad automatic weapon to replace the aging squad automatic rifles already in use appealed greatly to the Yanitarian Military officials at the time, who quickly adopted it as the AY-35, and quickly started production in order to have the rifle see service in Yanitarian-Kabavia, where Kabavian nationalism was still high.

The AY-35M is a modernization of the AY-35, meant to take advantage of modern materials (although the heavy weight was kept), and to offer a high powered rifle for police use, civilian sporting, and military export. In todays, market, however, it's no longer the shortness that proves to be it's selling point, but the high power of the 7.5x55mm Yanitarian round, in which is is standardly chambered.

Design:
The AY-35M is a gas operated, rotating bolt, balanced, short stroke rifle with two massive lugs, and fires from a closed bolt. The charging handle is attached to the bolt for simplicity's sake, and reciprocates when fired. The gas system is balanced, meaning that a counterweight attached to a cable and pully system act in direct opposition to each other, in order to eliminate the felt recoil created by the bolt. However, due to the weight of the rifle, and the already light recoil, very little effect is made here. The muzzle climb is in fact the limiting factor, but performance will be discussed later in the article.

The AY-35 uses modern fiber reinforced polymers, in order to upgrade the look and make it marginally lighter (and to justify the addition of the balanced system, which is not present in the original AY-35). The rifle is held together by modern push pins, borrowed from the AY-144, to allow it to be easily disassembled with out the use of tools. The trigger, like all modern Yanitarian designs, is pressure sensative, with a 2.2kg pull causing the rifle to fire one round, and a 4.4kg pull causing it to fire a two round burst (to control muzzle climb), and, if held for a split second longer, to fire in fully automatic. An ambidextrous safety is operated by the thumb or forefinger, but only has two settings, "Live" and "Safe"

The gas system strongly resembles the AY-1M, AY-144, and AK-47, and can be made either by casting, which requires investment in molds which can only be used for the AY-35M, or by CNC machining, the machinery of which can be used for many different rifles. Casting in the long run is cheaper and faster, but in the short term can be quite expensive. Unlike the AY-1M, or AK-47, the AY-35's operating rod can be removed during disassembly.

The AY-35M retains the gas regulator and cut off, allowing for three settings, "Normal Conditions", "Adverse Conditions", and "Cut", the latter of which allows it to fire rifle grenades. This is considered useful for developing armies.

There exist four variants of the rifle, the AY-35M(A), which is the full length rifle, the AY-35MB "Para", a shortened carbine, the AY-35MC "Commando" subcarbine, which is new, and is especially useful for close quarters combat, and allows police to have a powerful rifle in a small package. The final version is the Light Support Weapon, Model 35, Modernized, or LSW-35M. It uses a heavier barrel, and always comes equipped with a bipod (which removable, and an option for all variants).

All rifles have a rail on top and bottom of the receiver and foregrip, respectively, with the option to attach side rails on all but the Commando variant with push pins. The bayonet lug and carrying handle are both offset to the right, with the latter being removable. The sights are standard for modern Yanitarian rifles, with green tritium inserts in the rear, and a red on in the fore sight. This allows for quick snap firing in both day or night, with less confusion. The magazines are modernized, to the Yanitarian standard, meaning that they are transparent, to allow for a client to easily see the amount of ammo left. The mags can also take advantage of built in coupling studs, which allow multiple mags to be attached for quick reloading.

Two stocks are available, and can be attached to any variant. The classic skeletonized stock folds to the side, and is made out of a high impact polymer. The newer, FN SCAR inspired adjustable stock also folds to the side, but can be adjusted to fit the firer. Both stocks come with a cheek plate, to bring the user's head into line with the sights, and both stocks have the option of attaching a wire shoulder plate which increases the surface area of the stock, and brings the firer's should more in line with the stock. The shoulder plate is only ever used with the LSW variant.

Performance:
A number of things strike the AY-35M as an odd rifle, compared to most modern Yanitarian rifles. First of all, it is not a bullpup, and therefore is extremely long and heavy. However, because of this weight, the full version and LSW variant have very light felt recoil. Because of the balanced gas system, this is a trait shared by the shorter variants, however, all of the variants are plagued by excessive muzzle climb, which can be attributed to the 7.5x55mm Yanitarian cartridge it uses.

The cartridge itself is also a modern cartridge, and really doesn't resemble to 7.5mm Arkadian (as it is now known), and more closely resembles the 6.5mm Yanitarian round. Because of this, the bullets have a distinctive look, lose very little energy in flight, and create nasty wound channels. Because it is a large cartridge, it is extremely powerful.

The rifle itself, in single fire and burst mode, is extremely accurate, while in automatic is quite uncontrollable. And while the weapon fairs well in snow, water, and mud, it becomes somewhat temperamental when faced with fine sand and dust. However, with rudimentary maintenance, the AY-35M can be used in any environment

AY-144

http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i156/UNDComrade/Yanitaria/Guns/AY-144final.png

History

In the recent past, Yanitaria has come up with more than a few commercially successful assault rifles. From the AY-142 earlier in 2007, to the AY-143 upgrade in 2008, and now, the AY-144, the Yanitarian Army is looking for a solid weapon to finally replace the obsolete AY-112 rifles, which were adopted in 2003.

Although the AY-142 and 143 have been tested in combat, and have proven themselves accurate, rugged rifles, Yanitaria is constantly seeking the best rifle they can get their hands on.

Design

The AY-144 is a short stroke, gas operated, rotating bolt, balanced assault rifle that is most commonly chambered for the 6.5x45mm Yanitarian (or JMC) (http://z4.invisionfree.com/NSDraftroom/index.php?showtopic=4094) intermediate cartridge, however, it can also be chambered for the 5.5x45mm Yanitarian, or the 7.5x45mm Yanitarian, as well as the 7.62mm Russian, 5.45mm Russian, 7.62mm NATO, 5.56 NATO, and 6.5mm Grendel. The AY-144 system is modular, ambidextrous, and made of lightweight fiber-reinforced polymers.

As stated, the gas system is balanced. The AY-144 uses a propriatary system, in which the bolt is attached by a wire to a counterweight system which is attached to a spring. When the bolt moves forward, it picks up a round from the magazine, and pushes it into the chamber. When the trigger is pulled, or if the weapon is on automatic or burst, the hammer hits the firing pin, which fires the round. The gas expands, where it is collected by the gas block, and sent back where it pushes the bolt back and flushes the extraction tube. Because the rifle is balanced, the counterweight moves in the opposing direction, so that no recoil is felt from this. As the bolt moves back, the casing from the spent round is dropped into the extraction tube. The bolt moves forward, picking up another round. This round is fired, and the gas that flushes the extraction tube pushes the spent casing out, spitting it out of the bottom of the gun. This is much safer that previous versions of the AY rifle, in which a conventional extraction system, borrowed from the AUG, was used, and a simple, removable rubber or steel cover decided which way the shells would fly. Previous AY rifles had suffered from problems caused by extremely bad burns when a round accidentally cooked off in the chamber. This also allows soldiers to switch shoulders extremely quickly, with out having to switch the rubber or steel shield, and also allows soldiers to fire with out hitting each other with hot casings.

When the bolt moves back and forth, and when the bolt moves all the way forward, the counterweight also negates the recoil here, and so the only felt recoil comes from when the round actually leaves the chamber. This is known to increase accuracy by a significant margin when compared to similar unbalanced designs. Should the counterweight system break, the weapon will still fire, except with much greater recoil. The bolt itself is made of high grade steel, and the entire system is made to fit together extremely well, requiring modern, but not always top shelf, techniques. Because of this, during desperate times, the AY-144 can still be manufactured and issued, along with second rate supplemental rifles such as the AY-1M.

Once the last round is fired, the bolt catch holds the bolt open, so that a new magazine can be loaded. At any time, a client can pull back the charging handle, which swivels to either the right or left to accommodate soldiers of either dominant hand, and activate the bolt catch via a switch in front of the trigger. The charging handle can then be pushed forward in a motion known as the "H&K slap", bringing the bolt forward and into place, while extracting a fresh round. The charging handle will the swivel into the forward stowed position, allowing it to be used as a forward assist. Two "hooked" edges allow it to easily be reached at any time, even with the lower rail.

The weapon is held together entirely with push-pins, a concept borrowed from the G36, which allows the weapon to be disassembled entirely with out tools, and much quicker than rifles that require screws and bolts. The rifle can be broken down into a small amount of parts, and entire bits can be swapped out to fully customize the rifle. For instance, Yanitarian Arms offers a faster ROF kit, which allows a client to switch out the bolt group, spring, and counterweight system, increasing the rate of fire from 650RPM in full auto all the way to 1000RPM. The trigger group can also be switch out. The standard one uses the pressure sensitive system of previous models, where a short pull of 2.2kg fires one shot, a long pull of 4.4kg fires a two round burst, and keeping it depressed fires fully automatic. Trigger group kits can be purchased that raises or lowers the strength of the pulls needed, or includes a traditional fire selector (which would be fitted in the same area as the current safety switch).

The safety is a small, ambidextrous switch located near the thumb, and can easily be reached while holding the weapon. Flipping it down will engage the safety on the weapon, so that it will not fire. The AY-144 comes with one of two sight rails. The first is a larger hand rail with an integrated 3.5x zoom scope, and is usually equipped with an ARSY-11 red dot sight. The ARSY-11 is essentially the same as the ARSY-10, but with some minor improvements, and shorter to allow it to be used on the AY-144. The second proprietary rail is much lower, and uses integrated iron sights, which uses green tritium inserts on the rear sight, and red tritium inserts in the front, which allows for quick snap firing. The AY-144 can use foreign rails made to the client's specifications.

The AY-144 uses a new rail system that uses push pins to attach to the rifle. This means that the rails are easily removable, and that rails fitting the standards used by foreign countries can also be used, or that the rails can be omitted entirely as needed, in order to conserve weight, materials, or to exchange a broken rail from one gun with one from another. The stock has been shortened, and a recoil pad can be attached for use with an under barrel grenade launcher. The magazines are semi-transparent in order to allow a soldier to at any time check the amount of ammo left in the mag. The Magazine also uses new coupling studs so that several magazines can be attached to it for faster reloading. The barrel is lined with chromium to decrease wear.

Overall, the AY-144 is a reliable, accurate weapon, which will serve any country extremely well in a number of adverse conditions. There are three variants to the rifle, the AY-144A, the full length rifle, the AY-144B, a compact carbine, and the AY-144C, the extremely compact, almost sub machine gun like commando variant.

Combat Knife, Model 08

CK08

http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i156/UNDComrade/Yanitaria/Weapons%20Acc/CK08Bayonet.png

This quality bayonet is made with a high carbon-content core, using excellent quality Yanitarian steel and borrowing ancient techniques in order to make, with a lower carbon-content steel outer sheath, in order to provide a stong yet rust resistant weapon.

The technique lay in the preparation of the steel. Sheets of Steel are first made, and buried in the ground for 2-3 years. Both high and low carbon content steel will rust quite a bit, however once excavated, the rust is removed, and the the only steel that remains is the highest quality, strongest, and most rust resistant.

The sturdy hilt is steel in a polymer cast, with a small glass breaking tip. The CK08 will replace the less than satisfactory CK07

Price: $100
DPRs: $1 mil

OOC: Another accessorythat I didn't bother to get NSD approved. If you doubt the steel making technique, it's an ancient spanish technique, one of the reason why Toledo, Spain was renown for it's excellent steel.

Dear sir(s),
I am writing today on behalf of the Fordykian Ministry of Defense. I have been authorized to investigate possible replacements for our M-16 rifles which have been in use since the 70s. Although they have proved effective on the battlefield, all branches of our military have been using them, and we believe that certain units might require a more specific rifle. Not only that, we believe that your rifles might increase the effectiveness of our soldiers. I am therefore authorized to issue you with a contract for the following,

A service rifle for the Army with good accuracy and capable of operating well in jungle environments.
(50,000 models)

A service rifle for the Marines, with good accuracy and capable of being operating well in jungle environments and under wet conditions.
(10,000 models)

A service rifle for the Marines and Navy who operate in Littoral water combat with good accuracy, good range and which operates well jungle environments and under wet conditions.
(10,000 models)

A service rifle for special forces which operates well in any environment, is compact and lightweight with good accuracy, good range and good stopping power.
(2500 models)

Total - 72,500 rifles

You are welcome to offer as many or as few rifles, provided the rifles offered fit the specifications listed above. If our needs are met, you may be offered contracts to replace other small arms weapons in the near future.

Subject: Inquiry

After viewing your requirements, we feel that the AY-144 (models A through C, depending on the length of the weapon required, and the ranges at which enemies should be engaged) fit your needs perfectly. Should you require, Yanitarian arms will provide, at no additional cost, conversions kits for each AY-144A rifle you buy, that may allow it to be converted to models B or C with minimal effort. Should you also choose to replace your aging M16 rifles, Yanitarian arms will offer you in exchange a 10% discount for your old, unused rifles.

Should you require a cheaper alternative, both the AY-143 and AY-142 would fit those roles as well, with the only major differences between themselves and the AY-144 being secondary (for instance, the AY-144 is ambidextrous by default, while both the AY-142 and 143 require one to swap a sheet of rubber or steel from one side of the gun to the other). The 10% discount in exchange for used M16 rifles will still be made available.

Additionally, should you require a non-bullpup rifle, which is common, as the reloading drills for a conventional layout rifle make the same drills for a bullpup a bit awkward, and vice versa, the AY-20M rifle in three different models (again, A, B, and C), would be our premier choice. As with the others, the exchange is available.

6.5x45mm JMC

Although the 6.5x45mm Yanitarian performed excellently, Yanitarian engineers knew that if a new rifle cartridge were chosen for use in Fedala Accord nations would mean that their designs would have gone to waste. However, the fact that there was no major competitor at the moment did give them an edge. They approached Lyran designers, who were in the process of making a new round, and asked if they would like to collaborate. The new round would eventually be called the 6.5mm Joint InterMediate Cartridge, although it remains the 6.5mm Yanit in Yanitarian service.

The overall cartridge is about the same, with a long, wide bullet, with a slightly longer cartridge to accommodate more powder, resulting in a flatter trajectory and a bullet that wastes little of it's energy in flight.

Since aluminum can be bought at a cheaper price than brass, it was decided to use an aluminum casing with a silicon liner, which has proved successful in various high pressure loadings. This meant that wear and tear on the breach would also be reduced, in exchange for a bit of tolerance needed to eject expanded aluminum cases. In order to protect the rifling of the barrels from which the 6.5mm JMC round is fired, the bullets are coated in Lubalox, which is a black lubricant. However, as a matter of choice, the entire case can be coated in Lubalox in order to reduce glare.

Combined, this gives the 6.5mm JMC round a visually distinctive look unmatched by most rounds outside of the Winchester brand.

Bullet Types

Jacketed Hollow Point (Mk 1)
The first was a hollow point round to be used in low intensity conflicts where the enemy was unlikely to own body armour. The jacket was designed with a reverse tapered jacket, with 5 cuts to allow for reliable expansion into targets. This creates 5 talon like points that rip into enemy tissue.

This does not increase accuracy by a significant margin, but does improve stopping power, and in pistol incarnations, such as the Winchester Black Talon, increases stopping power.

Tracers on this particular bullet are blue. In factory loaded clips and belts, the tracers towards the end are white, to tell the soldier that he is running low.

Full Metal Jacket (Mk 2)

Yanitarian Arms took the opportunity to design a more modern round. The FMJ version is a 120gr bullet with a boat tail which gives a 610mm barrel a muzzle velocity of 840m/s. The Mk 2 was different to Grendel designs or spitzer projectiles in general, because although the Mk 2 round looks like a conventional fully-metal jacketed bullet, this appearance is deceptive: the designers deliberately made the front third of the interior of the Mk 2 bullet out of aluminium, instead of lead.

This shifts the centre of gravity of the bullet towards the rear, making it tail heavy. Although the bullet is stable in flight due to the gyroscopic forces imposed on it by the rifling of the barrel, it behaves very differently upon hitting the target. As soon as the bullet hits the target and decelerates, its heavier lead base causes it to yaw violently and deform, thereby inflicting more severe gunshot wounds than a standard spitzer design.

The tracers of this particular bullet are red. In factory loaded clips and belts, the tracers towards the end are white to tell the soldier that he is running low.

Armour Piercing (Mk 3)

The Armour Piercing Mk 3 bullet uses a copper jacket with a tungsten-cobalt and steel core to achieve good armour penetration. The design resembles the Mk 2 in many respects. Of course the steel, being lighter, is found at the nose, so that the center of gravity of the bullet is again pushed back. This is a minor upgrade of the original 6.5mm Yanit.

The tracers of this particular bullet are green. Like the others, towards the end, the tracers are white.

Flechette (Mk 4)

The Mk 4 Flechette bullet was developed to combat enemies with light body armour, in good weather conditions, with improved accuracy over standard loads.

Since the 6.5mm JMC can use less powder when firing the 2 x20mm dart, it is cheaper to produce, and produces better accuracy. The dart itself is made of a tungsten-cobalt alloy with a blended steel tip towards the front, making it tail heavy, and allowing it to yaw violently, and perhaps fracture along the tungsten-steel line, creating better more wound channels. A foam discarding sabot, which is similar to the 6.5x25mm CBJ-MS (http://world.guns.ru/smg/cbj-ms-a.jpg), takes up the spare space in the cartridge left by the low powder load, and makes it easier to center, unlike conventional flechette or even caseless rounds. Because of this, it might see limited service against heavily armoured enemies in the future. This bullet does not have a tracer.

Blended Metal (Mk 5)

The only entirely new round, produced by a Lyran team with Yanitarian consultation, the Mk 5 is a semi-jacketed round which has a tungsten "umbrella like" penetrator and tail, which are connected via a 2mm rod in the center, and a lead midsection. This allows the center of gravity to be shifted towards the rear (hence the tungsten tail), so that it not only pitches and yaws violently, but may also have the lead components break apart into separate wound channels. The jacket only covers the tail to minimally decrease barrel wear, as the hard tungsten alloy could easily cut short barrel life.

This round has a white tracer, which turns red towards the end of the clip.

Semi-Automatic Rifle, Yanitarian, Model 43

SY-43

http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i156/UNDComrade/Yanitaria/Guns/SY-43.png

Design

Designed as a conversion for the no longer useful AY-142 and AY-143 (which have been replaced by the AY-144), the SY-43 will serve as the designated marksman's rifle of the Yanitarian Royal Military. Few things change in this rifle.

First of all, the barrel was swapped for a heavier, longer, tighter one, with an integral flash suppressor and muzzle brake. The trigger system was swapped out for the simpler MGY-20 system, so that it can now only fire in Automatic and Semi-Auto, allowing a marksman to empty a mag into an opponent as a last resort. The balanced piston system was kept because of this. The integral bipod is supported by it's own support rod.

The civilian version of the rifle does not include the flash suppresor/muzzle brake, and may be altered to only make use of Semi-automatic fire by placing a block on the second step of the trigger (meaning that the maximum pull would be 3kg, enough to fire one shot), however this can easily be modified by less law abiding citizens, and Yanitarian Arms has received criticism for producing what could easily be converted into an assault rifle. However, Yanitarian Arms claims no such responsibility for such modifications, and has even released a Hello Kitty! edition to placate the angry foreign mobs.

To: Yanitarian Arms

Greetings. We have returned to Yanitarian Arms in order to purchase a further 400 Ath-86 "Nebula" bombers. We would like to use the same payment arrangement (4,000,000,000 standard dollars per year for 10 years) as last time in order to cover the 40,000,000,000 standard dollar total price tag. We have found the Ath-86 to exceed the standards put forth by the LAF for a fully capable modern Strategic Bomber; and more orders for the Ath-86 will likely be forthcoming in the future.

This order would bring our Ath-86 bomber fleet up to 800.

Our military has shrunk in size however we still wish to keep our men and women equipped with the finest equipment available. Sorry for the late reply, guys.

OOC: I can wait as long as it takes, provided you don't forget. Get well soon, a lung infection can't be fun.

To the Nation of Fordyk:

As per your request, we have put together an arms package, and calculated the price. At the moment, our upcoming machine gun (developed in conjunction with Lyran Arms), is not available, but should be soon, and so we have put it on your order, so that your military forces may have the highest quality arms available, with out having to pay for a new machine gun as an interim solution. This should be completed and available in the coming (NS) months. However because price has yet to be decided, the price of the weapon has not been included, and may be settled once it becomes available. Additionally, should you choose to wait an extended amount of time, new weapons in the sniper rifle, submachine gun, and shot gun category will become available, however we suggest using the suggested weapons here as an interim solution. We also highly suggest the AY-144 as your main assault rifle, as it is currently one of the most competative rifles available on the market, design wise, and used by such prestigious militaries as the Lyran Military and Wanderjarian Military.

Available weapons:
APY-57 Pistol (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=13330215&postcount=45)
RY-2 Interim Sniper Rifle (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=13637046&postcount=199)

OOC: I have a question on your Ath-86 "Nebula". How did you get more than threefold increase on combat range from the Tu-22M, which is clearly what this is based off of, and carry 3 Kh22, and 6 Kh15s with no signifcant increase in size? The Tu-22m can carry 3 Kh-22s or 6 Kh-22s with a rotary launcher. If you give an answer that isn't "magic", I'll consider buying a bunch.

OOC: The Tu-22M series, and russian bombers in general do have a larger weapons capacity than they currently carry, however, due to treaties limiting their payload, they only carry so much. The range has to do with a new high bypass engine built by boeing for the 787 dreamliner, which is certainly an interesting concept, and in my opinion will be the greatest aircraft engine for a commercial airliner yet. The advantages it offers, such as fuel economy and efficiency are also applicable to military aircraft, while other secondary advantages, such as it's quietness, are just icing on the cake (the Tu-95 for instance is the loudest prop-driven plane in existance, whereas my version is probably one of the quietest in NS. This has several minor advantages, nothing that would warrant building an engine specifically to be quiet, but I digress).

So no, the answer isn't magic. I do appreciate customers that ask questions, though.
Yanitaria
03-12-2008, 12:58
OOC: Oh, and this is the engine that I based off of the boeing engine. It is not the same as the one used in the Ath-86, because the Nebula's engine is a scaled down version of this one.

Machine Pistol, Yanitaria, Model 28, "Birth Control"
MPY-28

http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i156/UNDComrade/Yanitaria/Guns/MPY-28.png

Overview: The MPY-28 is a cheap, reliable, machine pistol developed for export to countries and clients that need large amounts of automatic PDWs extremely cheaply. The "Birth Control", as it is jokingly called by designers, is street legal in Yanitaria, and so it is intended to see mass usage on the civilian and black market.

The MPY-28 is made of all stamped steel and plastic, and is very heavy to hold compared to other similar designs. The excessive rate of fire is kept in check by the balanced blowback action, adapted from earlier gas operated designs, as opposed to the heavier weights used in most similar machine pistol designs. This has the advantage of making the "Birth Control" much more controllable when fired.

The muzzle brake is detachable, and there are a numerous amount of attachments that can be added, including a silencer, various muzzle brakes, flash guards, and even a grenade launcher (which requires the use of a blank round).

Ironically, because the quality of the steel used is sub-par, the thickness had to be increased, making this weapon much more reliable than similar designs using higher quality steel.

STATISTICS for the MPY-28:
Weight: 1.7kg
Length: 275mm (stock folded)
Barrel Length: 130mm
Range: 55m
Cartridge: 10x25mm Yanitarian, .40DDI, 10mm Auto, 9.8mm ACP, 9mm Parabellum, 9mm Makarov, .380 ACP, .38 Super
Action: Balanced Blowback
Firing Modes: Safe, Automatic
Rate of fire: 1,200 rounds/min
Feed system: 10, 20, 30 round box
Sights: Fixed iron sights with green and orange tritium inserts.

Price: $250

Yanitarian Designation: YA-42 "Corsaire" (Yanitarian Aerospace, Model 42)
Hvergelmirian Designation: Korsar (?)

http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i185/rainmaker_01/stealth5.png
Art entirely by Labhekistan (Hvergelmir).

History

Following an agreement between Hvergelmirian, New True Crossian, and Yanitarian military and corporate figures, the aerospace corporations and the respective air forces agreed to work closely together in order to produce the next generation of military aircraft for their use. The first project to come up would arguably be the most important, as it would represent to the world the capability of the engineers of the three countries. Because of this, it the first design to be put forward would be a generation 5 fighter aircraft. For this, a record in Yanitarian history was broken, with approximately three hundred companies eventually being hired to complete the project (however this number is bloated with relatively minor companies that added little, or performed jobs unrelated to the actual plane, such as Yanitarian Construction Co, which added a new wing to the Yanitarian Aerospace building in Lillehammer, Yanitaria which housed, among other things, the design staff of the XYA-42 project). However, two main aerospace companies contributed to the design of the project, a Hvergelmirian firm and Yanitarian Aerospace, with the Hvergelmirian firm taking care of the airframe while Yanitarian Aerospace designed the engines and Avionics. The Companies Wellington Aircraft Corporation, Yawarah Air Works, and Aeromarine Engineering Corporation, and a number of Hvergelmirian companies are notable for their contributions, perhaps most notably Yawarah for their ODIN radar.

Finished in mid-2008, the Corsaire/Korsar is an impressive both technologically and in it's performance. Not only does it include standards of generation 5 fighters, such as stealth, a glass cockpit, and 3D thrust vectoring, it is also the most maneuverable aircraft in Yanitarian and Hvergelmirian service, but it is also built to be one of the most maneuverable aircraft in the world. Due to it's destinctive appearance, and it's incredible performance, it has won much acclaim in air shows around the world. Additionally, four YA-42s were completed with crews trained in time for the last few air battles in on the island of Sétif, where they proved a fearsome, with Capitaine Henri Daudin taking out a total of 34 aircraft, holding a record for that particular conflict. In exercises held with the Yanitarian Air Corps and various allies, the Corsaire performed extremely well, winning a total of 54/55 mock dog fights during the month of September alone.

Overview

As stated, the YA-42 Corsaire is a generation 5 fighter jet, and incorporates stealth technology, advanced avionics, and various technologies that allow it to maneuver past it's stall point, which, for most previous generations had been impossible. The forward swept wing and canard configuration, as well as the 3-D thrust vectoring give this aircraft a distinct advantage in dog fighting, allowing it to out-turn and out-maneuver almost any craft in the sky. At a distance, however, the Corsaire can use it's stealthy design to keep a low profile while it fires missiles from it's internal bay. Alternatively, where stealth is of minimal importance, even more ordinance may be fired from external hard points. The avionics suite is entirely new, and takes full advantage of the Oiseau Futé CIP, which will be explain fully later in the document. The OF Central Integrated Processor is a system specifically built to grow, with only about 70% of each of the two processors used in the baseline product.

Because of the unusual stresses of the Forward Swept wing, the airframe is made out of composites that are much stronger than regular metals. The YA-42 also makes heavy use of the new techniques in titanium casting, which also have the advantage of also reducing the amount of time needed to produce an aircraft. Finally, the fuselage also takes advantage of carbon-fiber composites, which offer great strength to weight ratios. However, these features will be explained more full later in the document.

Airframe and Engine Design

The design of the YA-42 is unique in that it uses a highly unstable triplane configuration (although some may argue that it is in fact a highly unstable biplane configuration, because, unlike designs like the Su-47, the tail fins of the Corsaire are slanted at an angle, much like the F-22 Raptor. However, since these tail fins do produce lift, the design is technically a triplane). The canards are made of cast titanium, as well as the leading edge flaps, while the fuselage is made of mostly carbon fibre composites as well as titanium and aluminum. The fuselage is oval in cross section, while the radome is flattened a bit and given a horizontal edge in order to optimize it's anti-spinning characteristics. The wings, as stated frequently before, have a relatively unique forward sweep, making the plane extremely unstable with out computer assistance. However, this also allows it to be extremely maneuverable, able to achieve angles of attack that would stall out jets such as the F-22 or F-35, and maneuver in ways that would make even an Su-37 jealous.

The Corsaire is refueled via a probe and drogue system, where the probe is retracted inside the aircraft when not in use. This means that range is theoretically limited to the amount of aerial tankers and the endurance of the pilot. Also adding to the long range capability of the YA-42 is the forward swept wing. With it's high aspect ratio, at subsonic speeds the Corsaire has great fuel efficiency, allowing the Corsaire a much higher maximum range than most other conventional fighters. Additionally, the wings give great low and high speed performance The rear fins are intentionally large in order to block the view of the engine from enemy planes when seen from the side (this is largely meant to combat IR scanners) as well as helping to deflect radar waves.

In order to make the aircraft stealthy, great emphasis was placed on the airframe. For instance, the air intakes are 'S' shaped, making them harder to manufacture, but greatly increasing their ability to scatter radar waves. The overall shape of the aircraft also does a great job of scattering radar waves, while the Radar Absorbent Material, or RAM, prevents it from being reflected in the first place. However, it should be noted that RAM was intentionally made a very minor part of the aircraft as a whole, due to it's maintenance intensiveness. RAM painted aircraft often have to be stored in climate controlled hangars, which is obviously out of the question for a front line fighter. In addition to the features that improve stealth versus radar, the Corsaire is given a camouflage paint job in order to make it harder to spot, whether on the ground or in the air.

http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i156/UNDComrade/Yanitaria/Planes/AmTF1191.png

The Aeromarine AmTF-1191 turbofan was developed exclusively for the project, with the possibility of it being used in future fighters as well. The design takes notes from the F-119-PW-100 in that it vastly reduces the number of parts as much as 40%, which leads to a large amount of advantages, including cutting drastically the amount of support required to maintain it, easing logistics, and of course being much more reliable. In almost all of the stages the engine blades are made from a single piece of metal, which cuts the amount of air leakage, adding to the performance of the engine. The fan blades are made wider, and therefore stronger, eliminating the need for a shroud, making the engine lighter and more efficient. A major material of the fan blades are "Alloy C" developed for Pratt and Whitney, which permit the engines to run hotter while protecting key components, making them more rugged and durable. In order to cut maintenance further, and to make the combustion chamber more durable, a high colbalt titanium alloy was used due to it's high temperature and oxidation resistance. Additionally, all components, harnesses and plumbing are located on the bottom of the engine for easy access when maintenance is needed. Further, the digital engine controls are extremely redundant. Finally, normal running of the engine produces no visible smoke, making detection by smoke trail much harder. Although the engine is highly reliable, it does not do this at the expense of performance. Many of the features that make the AmTF1191 more durable also increase it's efficiency. Each engine produces 180kN of thrust, for a combined total of 360kN. Of course, as mentioned, the engines make use of thrust vectoring nozzles. Due to wing stress worries, and the fact that several prototypes had issue with the not yet entirely resolved using modern materials, a committee of the Yanitarian Royal Air Corps looked at current doctrine, and realized that they rarely used anything past mach 1.8, and therefore a decision was made to govern the engines. Currently the engines can push the plane past 2.4, however unless the owning nation tampers with the governor, the maximum this plane can reach is mach 1.83. Should a foreign air force tamper with the engines, it is advised not to make turns at such a high speed, and to fly as straight as possible, lest the wings twist due to the immense forces acting on them.

Avionics

The YA-42 is notable for using integrated avionics, in which the major components of the software, such as the radar, electronic warfare systems, and weapons system all acting as a single unit. This allows a pilot to check on the fly system warnings, instruments, and information gathered by passive, active, or even outside means (outside means being defined as AWACs aircraft). The balance of accessibility and the rate at which one can consume information was a key problem that had to be addressed, and so engineers and software experts made extensive use of visual and aural cues which are not so subtle as to go unnoticed, but not so dramatic that it's distracts the pilot during combat. As an extention, managing this balance adds another layer of functionality to the combatant, allowing him to work at a level not possible under regular conditions.

As stated, the Oiseau Futé CIP allows the amount of resources required by the system to grow. Central to this are the module slots, each one of which is one of seven generic processors, and each runs with complete independence to the ones near it. Each module runs a different set of task, and should it fail, another module may emulate it, allowing for extreme redundancy with in the on board systems. Each of the two CIPs contains 70 module slots, with 24 and 25 empty slots, with provisions for a third CIP. Additionally, with future advancements in electronics miniaturization, it is theorized that a future upgrade may increase capacity by 350%.

The software is mission configurable, so that modules may be switched out as the roles change, shifting focus from it's main role of Air Superiority to Ground Attack to Mini-AWACs to Recon/EW with minimal effort aside from a change of weapons, easing to some extent the avionics side of the "Jack of all Trades, Master of None" issue.

In order to detect threats from range, the YA-42 uses an Active Electronically Scanned Array, in addition to a passive radar system. As a supporting measure, an Optical Locator System, much like that found on the MiG-35's already in Yanitarian service, which bolsters the previously underused system, putting it to use against stealthy enemies, and extensively in the ground attack role.

Armament

The armament capabilities of the Corsaire are extremely versatile. The baseline version of the YA-42 uses a 25mm ACY-25E linear action cannon, built with extremely tight dimensions that require more maintenance, but extend the range of the weapon to nearly 2 km. When used in conjunction with a laser range finder, or other such targeting system, the gun may destroy most targets with in seven to ten shots. As stated, the tight dimensions require barrel replacement every few thousand rounds, but at 450 rounds per mission, it may not be much of an issue. For most missions, in order to preserve it's stealthy profile, as many as 8 missiles can be stored internally, two short range missiles in missile bays along the side, and six long range missiles in a central bay. For the ground attack configuration, it can carry two long range missiles and two 500kg munitions fitting the dimensions of the Future Attack Munitions, although the FAMs may be replaced by 8 100kg bombs. Additionally, at the expense of stealth, up to 8 additional missiles and 4 external fuel tanks may be fitted, however for normal operation, 4 missiles and two fuel tanks are added, as the extra weight of 4 fuel tanks would require that the internal missiles be dropped (excluding the two short range missiles), while their dimensions would preclude their firing, in any case. Additionally, an EW pods may also be equipped. The Corsaire is both NATO and Warsaw Pact compatible.

YA-42E Export Variant

When the YA-42 was first released for export, there were concerns about releasing highly advanced technology to states which may in the future be hostile to la Yanitarie, and the Fedala Accord in general. Therefore an export variant was designed in order to provide Yanitaria and it's allies a minor edge against it's possible enemies. First of all, it's avionics are mostly off the shelf equipment already designed by Yanitarian Aerospace, and available in many more languages than the current version, which is only available in French, Norwegian, and Swedish. Additionally, it comes unpainted, meaning that the country it ultimately goes to will have to supply it's own radar reflective paint, however Yanitarian Aerospace will include a paint similar to the radar reflective paint used in the YA-42 proper upon request. Additionally, the OLS system is traded for a stock version of Hvergelmirian design.

Export of the YA-42 will be restricted to allies of Yanitaria and Hvergelmir only. All others will receive the YA-42E.

Aéromarine Ingénierie, Model 22, "Boucanier"

Am-22 "Boucanier"

http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i156/UNDComrade/Yanitaria/Planes/Am-22.png
Art By Nekomata

History

Originally the L'Assault Aviation Model 22 "Fée", the project started in order to fill the need for a light fighter with multirole capability for the Marine Yanitarien Royale and the Corps d'Air Yanitarien Royaux (which later during development was renamed the Armée Aéronautique Royale de la Yanitarie). Early on in the development, L'Assault Aviation was bought out by the up and coming Aéromarine Ingénierie. Aéromarine, previously famous for it's high-bypass turbofans, had amassed a large cash reserve relatively quickly, and coupled with L'Assault's dismal sales in the modern era, decided to buy L'Assault, and step into the ring as a major competitor to the socially owned Yanitarian Aerospace in the fighter market.

Design

The Am-22 "Boucanier" is a light multi-role fighter, meant to be used both on land and on carriers. The Am-22N is the naval variant, with the difference being that the Am-22N has heavy duty landing gear, arresting gear, and folding wings. The fighter is tasked with a number of jobs, including air supremacy, air defence, combat air patrol, anti-shipping strike, armed reconnaissance, SEAD, close air support, air interdiction, offensive counter air, interception, and nuclear delivery.

It boasts 3-D thrust vectoring engines similar to those used on the YA-42 "Corsaire", and in fact they are mechanically almost the same. Combined with it's canards and thrust to weight, it is a super-maneuverable aircraft. It's engines sit low on the fuselage in order to maximize fuel capacity. It uses the Yawarah ODIN radar sets (both forward and the smaller rear looking) from the YA-42, in addition to the OLS. The Boucanier can be refueled in flight using a probe and drogue system.

The Boucanier uses the same cannon as the Corsaire, the 25mm ACY-25E linear action cannon, built with extremely tight dimensions that require more maintenance, but extend the range of the weapon to nearly 2 km. When used in conjunction with the OLS, or other such targeting system, the gun may destroy most targets with in seven to ten shots. The ACY-25E cannon carries 400 rounds. The Am-22 also has a total of 12 pylons, 6 of which can hold up to 1,000kg, four can carry 500kg, and two of which can carry 250kg. They are not intended to all be used at once, and the payload is generally limited to 8,000kg per mission, often carrying much less in order to preserve maneuverability.

The Am-22N has the ability to use the Système Tactique de Ravitaillement Yanitarien Modèle 2 (STRY-2) tactical refueling system. It consists of five external fuel tanks, four of which hold 1,750L of fuel, while the centerline tank carries 1,700L of fuel and a hose reel. Using this, an Am-22N equipped with the STRY-2 can refuel any plane with a compatible refueling probe or boom. The entire system come in at just under 7,200kg, making it one of the heavier standard loadouts.

Am-22EL

The Am-22EL is the Electronic Warfare version of the Am-22. It carries two DGE-2 electronic warfare and intelligence gathering pods developed jointly between Yawarah and Wellington. The DGE-2 is powered by a ram air turbine, and has a maximum output of 7kW. It's antennae and receivers are mounted in the tips of the wings, while the transmitters and exciters are located under the wing in the pods. It is capable of intercepting and reading received radio frequencies, jamming and spoofing them. Additionally, it may identify and direction find signals in order to provide SIGINT. It may also detect and either jam or spoof enemy radar, which is especially hand during SEAD missions. The Naval version is the Am-22NEL

Background:
With the Lyran shift from 6.8 x 43 to the Fedalan standard 6.5 x 45, and arrival of the LY20 and AY144, chambered in that cartridge, the LY19 LMG found itself rapidly falling from favour. While a highly effective piece of equipment in its own right, it quickly became apparent that the need to carry and supply differing ammunition types would negatively affect the logistics and distribution chains. Given a co-existing Yanitarian requirement for an LMG chambered in 6.5 x 45, and given the two state's co-membership of the Accords and geographical proximity, co-operation on development of such a weapon was a logical development.
Yanitaria, having not long switched to the AY144, still possessed very large stocks of the AY20M, a conventionally laid out assault rifle chambered in the appropriate calibre. Initial examinations as to the practicality of re-establishing production of a modified version, as well as refurbishing existing stockpiles, was a great success, and along these lines development proceeded. Early emphasis was placed on accuracy and controllability of the weapon during sustained fire but the national requirements also specified that there be no diminuation in rate of fire or lethality.

Construction
Given the primacy given to the weapon's role as a squad-level light support weapon, and following on nicely from similar initiatives in its AY20M predecessor, every attempt was made to push down the system's carried weight. This lead to the extremely widespread use of synthetic materials. Most parts not involved in the firing cycle are therefore constructed of fibreglass reinforced polyamide. The weapon's barrel, as is becoming the international norm, is cold hammer forged, as are the firing mechanisms and gas system. Anything that can be made out of synthetic materials, without adversely influencing the weapon's reliability and performance, is.

Ammunition
From the outset of the design process, the Lyro-Yanitarian design team sought to make the MGJ21 compatible with as many calibres as possible, so as to facilitate ease of export and distribution, especially to non-JMC-using Fedalan states. This was achieved simply by provision of a number of different barrel, chamber and bolt sizes, while the rest of the weapon remains unaffected. Significantly, the weapons various working parts are unchanged, regardless of the calibre the weapon is firing.
When in Fedalan service, the Mary-Jane is generally chambered in 6.5 x 45mm Yanitarian/JMC. Rounds available in this calibre include, but are not limited to, FMJ, APFJ, JHP and DS. The Mary-Jane can be readily rechambered for a whole host of differing calibres, including, but not limited to; 7.92mm TPF, 7.62R, 6.8mm ASG, 6.8mm SPC, 5.5x 45mm Yanitarian, 7.5x45mm Yanitarian, 7.62x39mm Russian, 5.45mm Russian, 7.62mm NATO, 5.56mm NATO, 6mm Remington, and 6.5mm Grendel.

Operation
The MGJ21 is an air-cooled, closed-bolt, recoil operated, belt- or magazine-fed weapon. Due to this operating mechanism, and given its nature as an closed-bolt weapon, the Mary-Jane tends to accumulate heat faster, but as the weapon features a quick change barrel assembly, new barrels can be quickly be fitted to the weapon, ensuring continued fire despite the lighter-than-standard barrel's rapid heat accumulation. The weapon is loaded from below, by means of insertion of 100 or 200-round disintegrating belts, held in collapsible box magazines. Conventional magazines from an AY20M or AY144 can also be fitted, but an adaptor must first be fitted to the base of the weapon. This adaptor was originally fitted to the right-hand side of the weapon, and rotated into place to receive magazines, however it was awkward and added unnecessary weight, as opposed to simply carrying an adapter.

As the MGJ21 is designed as an accurate, high RoF weapon system, specifically engineered for use as a squad/section-level light support weapon, a factor with a number of ramifications, amongst them the provision for a variety of different barrel lengths to be fitted to the weapon for different combat uses. Also available, as with a number of similar squad-level systems, is a variable, operator-selected cyclic rate. This allows for the user to select which cyclic fire rate is preferred for engagement of whatever target is presented, depending on circumstances. Of the two available settings, the first and highest is 800 rounds per minute. At this cyclic rate, the weapon is usually employed as a burst-fire system, while at the same time allowing for the Mary-Jane to quickly put down heavy suppressive firepower if required. The second setting is also the lowest rate of fire, at 600 rounds per minute. This is the setting normally selected when the weapon is used in close-quarters battle, and presents a more mobile, controllable option. This setting is also used when the operator is low on ammunition. With the magazine adaptor fitted, and a conventional magazine loaded, the Mary-Jane, using this RoF setting, essentially operates as an assault rifle, with very similar performance features to its AY20M ancestor. The VOSCR is achieved by tightening the rollers in the bolt. This is done via a screw system controlled from a wheel just behind the charging handle. In order to control it, the user must press a button on top of the weapon, and turn the wheel forward, to slow the rate down to 600rpm. Afterwards, doing the same thing in the opposite direction will raise the rate back up to 800rpm. Two simple ball detents ensure that the two settings do not require any guess work.

The Mary-Jane uses a balanced automatic recoil system, of the same general type as that employed on a variety of weapons previously designed Yanitarian and Lyran weapons. The system is based on utilisation of a pulley to drive a secondary piston and counterweight in the opposite direction as the motion of the recoiling bolt. The mechanics are such that as the bolt reaches the furthest rearward part of its action (thus impacting the rubber pads of the interior of the butt plate), the counterforce also reaches the end point of its forward movement. This 'balanced recoil' action noticeably decreases felt recoil and thus improves controllability and accuracy in automatic fire. Given that the Mary-Jane is designed to be employed primarily in the automatic firing role, this feature was deemed especially appropriate. As was implemented in the LY20, rubber shock-padding at the rear of the bolt, interior of the butt and contact points for the forward-moving counterweight, further reduce felt recoil, although their absence will not hinder the weapon's operation in a purely mechanical sense. Recoil springs housed in the butt also lower felt recoil, giving the Mary-Jane a very low degree of felt-recoil, a feature which is becoming commonplace in both Lyran and Yanitarian-produced weapon systems.

Barrel and mounting options
The primary barrel is a 45cm (17.72 inch) chrome-lined barrel. 36cm (14.17 inch) barrels exist for CQB combat and high-mobility duties. In defensive positions, the weapon is normally mounted on one of any number of tripods. This allows for better stability and easier use. The Mary-Jane, however, is also meant to be squad portable, and thus a folding bipod is equipped for squad and platoon level uses. The stock of the weapons makes use of a rubber butt, so lesser strain is placed on the user's shoulder. Off the assembly lines, the Mary-Jane uses a three-post, T-section Yanitarian-style iron sight system, which includes both orange and green tritium inserts for night use. A flip-up anti-aircraft sight can also be fitted. Finally a picatinny rail is fitted onto the top of the weapon, allowing for an ACOG, Aim Point, TGTM-4, or other sighting system to be fitted. Other system options include a heat shield, friction buffer, and an advanced muzzle brake, the latter being threaded for the employment of blank-firing attachments, and also functioning as a flash suppressor. Rails can be fitted to the right and left sides of the barrel, as well as below (although the bipod tends to get in the way if one is fitted), to allow a number of first, second, and third party attachments.

Safety
The safety is a simple push-through trigger-lock and bolt-inhibitor, which both prevents the trigger from being pulled and also prevents the firing pin from being released. As a closed-bolt weapon, it does not need to be cocked before the safety can be engaged.

Official Message from the Government of the United States of Allanea:

Given impending combat data from the naval engagements against East Congaree, against Stoklomolvi, against the Grand World Order, Ralkovia, and the terrorist factions in Egyptiannstan, we have found that the massive-missile-delivery ship and the superdreadnaught are becoming relevant yet again.

Therefore we would wish to order 10 Nietzsche class Superdreadnaughts, to be designated, as follows:

USS Alisa Zinov'yevna Rosenbaum
USS Isabel Paterson
USS Rose Wilder Lane
USS Claire Wolfe
USS Garet Garett
USS Albert Jay Nock
USS Henry Hazlitt
USS Elizabeth Dilling Stokes
USS Amity Shlaes

The Third Empire of Fluffywuffy has endeavored to replace some of its aging artillery systems for years now. After extensive research and comparison between several storefronts, we have decided that the AV-40, "Heavy Seven" meets all the design requirements of our military. The Imperial Legislative Council and the Emperor have authorized the Army of the Third Empire to purchase a total of 20,000 of these fine weapons, at a cost of $120 billion. This will enable the Imperial Army to have extra stores for emergency purposes.

We have but one other comment to make: we have noticed a lack of towed artillery in your storefront, and wish to suggest that you include a design for a towed artillery piece. Many infantry divisions, especially motorized one, rely on towed artillery in place of self-propelled artillery. Our own military fields towed artillery extensively, with nearly 15,000 active towed artillery pieces alone.

Currently the arms industry of Yanitaria is gearing more towards Aerospace, and therefore most projects involving most ground warfare systems are slowed, with systems like new small arms, aircraft weaponry, aircraft support vehicles, and ship based CIWS taking precedence. Artillery systems, however, are high on our list of future projects, and will become available with in the fiscal year.

Yanitarian Arms is also not primarily a storefront for air force equipment. We suggest approaching Groupe AIR (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?p=14483758) with such a proposal, as the companies participating in Groupe AIR are much better equipped to handle aircraft production.

RCW Department of Defense Letter of Intent

Greetings,

Satisfied with the beginning arrival of our order from GroupeAIR, although initial operational capability is still far off yet, my Department has been authorized another purchase now that this year's budget has again been approved. It may perhaps be smaller in raw number of airframes, but is equally important as the fighter order was and thus must take equal priority, since the unit-reequipment schedule is the same once arrivals of any locally-built (see below) aircraft are accounted for so bomber arrival may thus catch up and keep pace with fighter deliveries. To that end we wish to purchase the following, according to GroupeAIR convention as we understand it regarding recent changes in licensing policy for the sake of simplicity...

1500 Da-34 Constellation patrol bombers (modified appropriately for the ASW/LRMP role by addition of sonobuoy dispensers, magnetic-anomaly detectors, and other associated maritime-patrol sensors plus associated avionics) ($300 Billion USD)
1500 Da-34EL Constellation ELINT/MR aircraft. ($330 Billion USD)
1500 Ath-86 Nebula medium bombers. ($150 Billion USD)
1500 Ath-86R Nebula reconnaissance bombers. ($150 Billion USD)
SUBTOTAL 1: $930 Billion USD
DPR Licenses: Da-34, Da-34EL ($2,000 Billion USD + $550 Billion USD = $2,550 Billion USD)
DPR Licenses: Ath-86, Ath-86R ($1,000 Billion USD + $250 Billion USD = $1,250 BIllion USD)
SUBTOTAL 2: $4,730 Billion USD
TOTAL (After Discounts Applicable): $4,020.50 Billion USD

For now we've applied for domestic-construction licenses under our present understanding of changes in Yanitarian aircraft export policies both generally and in particular relation to these designs, though if prior policy on these airframes still holds the license type may be changed and charged for (if the DMOL prices differed at all) accordingly. Even accounting for that eventuality, I can say that all is in order on our end and the needful funds stand ready to wire from Commerce Department accounts immediately and automatically following Yanitarian Arms' confirmation and/or clarification.

Chief Marshal Eileen Millenhaus
