Parson Smith unloaded the confetti form the crates, leaving them in the back room, and began hanging decorations for the Celebration of the Blessed. He invited the hole town to the festival. He put together a bonfire, hunted down a few deer, and brought a few dozen bottles of wine out of the chapel back room. After setting up a few folding table all the preparations were set. A deer was roasting over the bonfire, the wine was out on the table and it was a clear cool night. The paster sat in his rocking chair by the fire and waited for others to arrive.

People such as those who had attended the chapel's first services had arrived to attend the "Celebration of the Blessed" and partook in drinking wine and eating deer. Some talked to the parson while others merely enjoyed themselves. Those who did not attend could see the celebrations unfold as they walked or drove by. The parson liked what he saw and was thankful. While the celebrations were going on, government officials were busy looking over records to see what resources they could offer foreign colonies for trade.

Now that the Railway between Transoceanica and New Vladistov was complete and shipments between the two colonies quite regular, work on the road way could begin. Guided by GPS, the Army Corp of Engineers planned each day 20 miles in advance and colonists were happy to work on the road. The government had promised people 10 Daufuskien Dollars an hour with time and a half after 8 hours in a 24 hour period. The road took off from the mining camp at the so christened Constantinople Mine, it started off at a 90 degree left turn about 3 miles from the mine. The first destination would be into Lacedonia, anticipated to be reached within a month.

The town itself was thriving; the fish in the north had proven to be tastier than that of the south. The Daufuskiens had no trouble adhering to the Kiravian ‘banned catches’ as cetaceans and some of the other species had long been banned from capture in the motherland. The Daufuskiens were nervous about the ice, but no one had had any real trouble yet, so they went on fishing as normal.

Announcement from the Transoceanicia Mining Federal Confederation

The Constantinople mine is now producing excess amounts of palladium for export and we have decided to give priority orders to other colonial cites on Asåvik Island and the Kiravian Empire. If any of the aforementioned places whishes to place an order with us please do it soon as we will only hold your priority status for one week without an order.

Sincerely,
David Smith, President of TMFC

New Bordeaux

The festivities last till dawn. The Parson explained how the eating of the dear thanked the Great Bob for creating the animals that keep us full and healthy. Then he explained how the drinking of the wine thanked the Great Bob for creating the grape vines and other plants that bring us joy and happiness. He showed to properly light the great bonfire, and told them that it must be lit at exactly dusk, and must not go out until dawn, and that it thanks the Great Bob for creating fire which brings us so many things, heat, electricity and light. Then at dawn he released the confetti which drifted across the city. All night long they sang songs and had a generally good time.

When the confetti was released after a good night of celebration, school children could be seen playing with the confetti as they went to school while people going to work were amazed to see it flying across the windshield of their vehicles. After the celebration, everyone who attended went home but some stayed to talk to the Parson. When everyone was gone, the Parson was all alone but probably thankful for the successful event held at the chapel.

The 200 or so Transoceanicians who had gone with the missionary to be converted to Great Bobism [or what ever your call it] were especially taking part in the celebrations. Daufuskiens usually were somewhat of a reserved people in general, but if you got them partying, you really got them partying. They actually got quite obnoxious to be truthful, but it was all in good spirit.

We would be interested in trading palladium for diamonds and gold as well as other resources for diamonds and gold, as several citizens in Transoceanicia have stated an intents in becoming jewelers. Also, it is my belief that our colonies should exchange fish so that our people will have a variety of flavors from the Sub-arctic to the more southern part of the island where New Bordeaux is located. Finally I propose a joint railway project between our colonies, each doing half and meeting in the middle.

New Vladistov, being the commissioner of the rail, has decided to send a message to all colonies on the island. The letter was simple. It had but a few words on it:

If you wish to be connected to the main rail, reply to this message

Mayor Leonardo Nimroy

As such, the rail was quite regularly used; it currently connected the cities of New Vladistov, Transoceanicia, New Eilífur, Petropavlovsk, Colchis, Neo'delgi, and was being built to connect New Bordeaux as well. Canned goods were the number one product shipped by New Vladistov; the other "good" was electricity, which ran on high-tension power cables that were built on massive electrical towers that lined the rail.

Today was an especially cold day in Transoceanicia, the wind blew colder than normal, and everything was coated with a medium coat of snow. A fairly large sized ice breaker arrived, though the water was surely not icy enough to merit an ice breaker of such a magnitude, her sides were emblazoned with the words ‘HDS Discovery.’ The ship docked like any other, but off of it came two dozen people from the Army Corps of Engineers, and the original 30 people from the Army Corps of Engineers went down to help as well. The shipment was scheduled just as any other, but there were no details on what was being shipped. It only stated ‘supplies’ on the chart. Massive boxes were loaded on to flat bed semi-trucks. There was nothing special about the trucks, they were obviously borrowed from the mine, but the boxes were painted black, and gave no hint at their contents, their only marking was the letters ‘DSP’ spray painted on the side. The flatbed tractor trailers drove out quite a distance on a dirt road into unprotected forest about 30 miles from the town, heading toward the tip of the peninsula. There the Army Corps of Engineers as well as a few contracted workers began unloading and assembling the boxes’ contents.

In the Main Town of the colony the government structures had been complete in elaborate style, and the urban center of the town was booming to life with clean energy from the prosperous wind turbines offshore. An inter-island relations center had also been established in Transoceanicia. The air strip that had for so long been just steel grates was now a paved and very level mile long runway. Despite the shipments of pavement, the governor had insisted that the center of the town be paved with cobblestone streets to give it a classical feel.

Also, there was a large fountain being built in the town in front of the town hall.

Near the middle of the Vetalian Canal

The large Beatain freighter suddenly stopped, dead in the water. High pitched alarms rang through out the ship. Minutes later the ships deck was crawling with men in white bio-hazard suits. The communications officer began broadcasting this message, "Attention to all ships in the Vetalian Canal. This the Beatain freighter Chopin. We currently have a class 5 bio-hazard spill on board. Do not approach, we have the situation under control. Repeat, do not approach. We do not require any assistance. We are currently near the middle of the canal. We have disable the engines to reduce the chance of any spread of the spill. We feel any attempt to move the ship at this time could cause the spill to spread off the ship and into the water. We currently have the spill contained. We are sorry for the inconvenience but must ask that non try to navigate the canal until out situation is under control. Thank you and have a nice day."

When he realised that it was apparently for a celebration, he decided to call over all of the citizens to celebrate. Of course, he would have to ask first...

Meanwhile, the solstice was fast approaching. However, as most people were not religious, and how everyone was quite busy, unfortunately there were but three people that could attend; the mayor's secretary, a dock worker, and a canned goods merchant.

One week before the summer solstice Parson Smith called together the congregation and told them to prepare for a long journey. He said they would be celebrating the summer solstice at the monastery he told them. They would leave the next day.

Bright and early the next morning Parson Smith and the rest of his congregation set out for New Eilífur.

New Eilífur

Meanwhile back at the monastery they were preparing for the celebration as well. The kitchen staff was hard at work preparing delicious food. Some of the monks were preparing sleeping quarters in the dormitories, while others were tending to the tree at the center of the courtyard.

It was early on the morning of the summer solstice when Parson Smith and the Rest of his congregation arrived at the monastery. They all oohed and awed at the magnificent architecture of the monastery. The monks told them where they could put they're bags then we directed to sit in front of the tree in the middle of the courtyard. The monks had placed mats down for them. When they were seated, Prior Newton stood in front of the big tree and began to speak. He said, "On year ago this tree behind me was but a seed, and now it has grown strong, just as we all have grown. This tree is a reminder that if we care for something it will grow. Now let us take some time to think about how the Great Bob has cared for us in the past year, and how much we have grown in that time." He pause for a half hour. The he said, "Now for the food," and he clapped his hands, at which point a group of monks emerged form the kitchens with platters of food in they're hands, they had bacon, eggs, waffles, french toast, pancakes, crapes, and also sorts of other breakfast foods. They sat in the shade of the garden, listening to the Prior quote scripture and eat more of the kitchens scrumptious food. Then at 5:00 that afternoon, the Prior said, "Now rise my friends for it is time to retire to the chapel, where we shall drink and laugh and forget our worries for the night," and so they did long into the early hours of the morning.

Viceroy Kutuzov stood in the foyer of the Viceroyal Palace (http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a335/shaddamIV/VetaliaInterior.jpg), watching quietly as the city rose to another day of bustling prosperity. The Palace itself was an elaborate construct, both beautiful as well as heavily secured and guarded inside and out. Vetalians were a prudent lot, and preferred to secure themselves and their treasures as much as possible to reduce potential risks. This building was no exception, guarded by two platoons of guards and untold numbers of electronic and mechanical security devices. However, again, in the Vetalian style, they were blended seamlessly in to the greater facility and only an occasional guard was visible, monitoring the palace halls with unwavering attention.

It seemed like every month brought a new wave of growth to this city, which only two years before had been a muddy tent city clustered near a wide construction site. Now it was a glittering city, growing stronger by the day as the Vetalians brought more and more immigrants in to the bustling city. Even better news had arrived in recent weeks when word arrived that several Vetalian cruise lines were planning ventures to the island, and a mainland casino was looking at building a brand new complex and accompanying resort in the city. This new growth would produce huge sums of tax revenue for the colony as well as Vetalia proper, a fact which was extremely pleasing to the central government. They had eyed this project with initial skepticism but were now pleasantly surprised at the performance of their investment, which was likely to turn profitable sooner than previously expected.

Things were going well, and it looked like they were only going to get better. No doubt this would land Viceroy Kutuzov a promotion, perhaps even to a more prestigious enclave like Tornus or Zintharia.

Outside the mine, to add to the noise, was now a massive smelting factory, converting raw ore into pure bars of silver and lead, being shipped out for an even greater profit.

The mine workings had extended so that now there was a gouge 20 miles long adn 2 miles wide, of which 7 miles had been filled in, and had been landscaped for the arrival of a forest, being grown there using genetically modified trees.

In the town, there were about 20 people who visited the church. The rest continued on with their work, extending the colony.

The hydroponics plants had beeen a surprise: they had managed to start growing sugar cane in there and had adult cane within 3 weeks.

They still though were offgrid: they were completely self sufficient, save for the occasional zeppelin that glided in over the colony, moving supplies here and there.

New Bordeaux

Workers from New Bordeaux began to go to the Southeastern and Northeastern parts of the island to mine the stone and metal deposits that were avaliable to them. The first mine was opened in the Southeastern and was officially opened in a ceremony which Raymond Beaumont attended. Trucks filled with metals and stone were sent back to New Bordeaux, where their cargo would be placed in the storage depots. The colony itself was self-sufficient but supplies still came from the homeland, along with doctors, specialists and others who brought their skills to this island city. The University of New Bordeaux was opened and accepted its first students who wished to pursue post-secondary education. Television (and radio) stations began to air shows made in New Bordeaux alongside programs from the homeland and it was said that shows from other colonies could even be aired in New Bordeaux. Factories came up from the ground and a smelting factory was opened near the first mine opened in the Southeast. Raymond Beaumont even significantly renovated the "Governor's House" and it became a massive mansion that overlooked the city...primarily the part of the city inhabited by the wealthy.

Weekly Silver Production - 200 kg
Weekly Lead Production - 980 tonnes
Weekly Spoil Production - 2000 tonns

Weekly Average food Production - 3200 Per'viv
Weekly Average luxury food Production - 2100 Per'viv

New Eilífur

A large barge landed off the coast of New Eilífur. On board were 100 more missionaries, and it had been decided that any others that wished to live near the monastery could. This was far more than the small monastery could handle so plan had been drawn up to plan a city around the monastery. In all 876 people left Eilífur for New Eilífur, when the boat arrived that number was 884 with 11 babies born during the voyage and 3 deaths. They built 80 small houses that looked like this:

They also build taverns, a marketplace, and a wooden wall around the new town. They brought with them, horses and livestock, personal belongings, and the tools of they're trades. They were all more than happy to follow the instruction of the Prior, for he was still in charge.

The central community building once again was being outdone by another structure: on the edge of the airstrip had been built a massive mast, 200 metres high. A lift ran up its side, and at the top were a pair of magnetic clamps and massive docking hoops.

"I wish a spot on your network," replied Parson Smith. "Form noon-one on Saturday. I wish for your network to film my religious services live for those who are too ill or otherwise unable to attend in person. The church will pay good money for you to do the whole show," replied Parson Smith.

We will take any marble and granite you can offer us, for an equivalent amount of silver, which we value at $960 a kilogram.

We are willing to ship to you, in exchange for marble and granite, a maximum of 2 tonnes of silver, in the form of silver bars.

We don't accept your offer for the stone trade. However, we wish to trade, for 1000 carats of diamonds, 600 carats of rubies, 200 carats of each of opals, sapphires and emeralds, a year,

35 tonnes of silver (value - $33 600 000)

Will this work?

With the amount of silver in the area, about 15 jewellery business had sprung up, using imported gold with silver and imported gems to make magnificant works of jewellery for sale to the wealthier inhabitants of the island.

We have a lot of diamonds, rubies and so forth and to spare the number of carats requested in exchange for 35 tonnes of silver sounds like an alright deal.

Stoklomolvi Pier 04, New Vladistov

While Stoklomolvi Pier 03 was under repairs due to an odd terrorist incendiary attack, Pier 04 was unscathed. Hence, the massive ship docked right before the weather warning. Immediately after the docking of the ship, several SMPF officers with ABC suits (suits designed to protect against Atomic, Biological, and Chemical threats) immediately rushed to the ship and started spraying it with a type of sterilising chemical. After a while, specialist teams arrived with proper equipment and started to clean up the mess.

CommissarCam Station, Main Street

This just in! A blizzard has struck the island! All citizens are required to stay indoors until further notice. Thank you.

With that, citizens and cars everywhere were running about. Civilians were running into basements and their homes, and cars were driven into underground parking facilities. After around half an hour, all of the streets were completely empty, save for the occasional SMPF officer in an ABC suit.

As the SMPF officer ran off to fetch doctors, the blizzard picked up. Below, the water was beginning to freeze, and snow was slamming into buildings. Anything left outside was flash-frozen, save for the SMPF officers wearing the ABC suits. Aboard the ship, ice was collecting everywhere. One of the officers slipped and fell while carrying a tank of medical waste, spilling it all over the deck.

Immediately he was sprayed with the steriliser, and several more officers quickly cleaned up the mess. Meanwhile, the doctor and his colleagues had arrived to treat the injured, the wounded, and the sick.

Burn it all leave no evidence. Now remember these men are very sick," he said pointing at the list. "So sick, they might even die. We never had this conversation either. "Yes, sir."

The SMPF officer walked off to tell the others, and the doctor ran to his car, which was frozen. He cursed, then ran down the road in his ABC suit. After a good half hour or so of running, he reached the chapel, and he rushed inside to deliver the message.

I have some bad news...Our weather station and island forecasters have forecasted a heavy snow storm to hit the island."

The Captain replied as he turned from his chair and put down his charts, "A storm eh? How strong is it?"

"At least 900mb, sir, and deepening fast. Its projected couse is from vector 315, and its supposed to sweep right acorss our settlement of Barab."

"Well damn..." as the captain looks over the numerical data from the ship's weather collecting station, "...we'll have to wait to land. Send out a radio message calling all ports, and especially those on the SouthEast side of the island for a request of temporary shelter."

"Aye, sir." as the Private hurriedly exited the room.

The Captain walked over to a radio talkie, tuned it, and began to speak into it, "Attention all Sheshan Landing Craft, This is Captain Botelli on the SN-Fox. New Vladistov

In the city, absolutely nothing stirred. Even the SMPF officers had left. The blizzard had descended upon the city in full force by now, and literally anything outside was completely frozen; it was turned into ice. The ships in the harbour froze up, and even the water became ice. The concrete fortifications slowly began to freeze. On of the SMPF who walked on the frozen parts to get to his post in the cold fell off of the wall and landed on the only piece of snow below, only to nearly be crushed by the frozen concrete.

Meanwhile, the rail depot was closed off, and the city gates were shut. The port was put under lockdown, and all communications ceased. This alarmed the Stoklomolvi government, which promptly sent a small reconnaissance aircraft to examine the area; as it turned out, a massive hurricane-type storm was fast approaching from the north-west.

Right after the footage was sent back to the government, the plane's fuel lines froze, and the plane's engines stopped functioning. The pilot bailed out into New Vladistov, and his frozen plane shattered upon impact with the permafrost. The pilot, who was killed when his body flash-froze, shattered upon impact with the ground. The nearby canal was frozen; the massive gates could not function either. An iceberg was spotted in the ocean; this was a horrible winter indeed.

Prospectors Adolph Smith and Hector Stone had been searching more and more inland of riches, their only resources were a map of the protected areas and what they could carry in a backpack. However, they after searching for quite some time, they stumbled across a deposit of marble. They soon claimed the area and sold it for several million dollars for the government.

Truly whishing to push its economic growth, the government pushed the expedition ahead a few weeks, unfortunately hitting the major blizzard. The expedition had to be called back, and even the mysteriously appearing and disappearing Army Corps of Engineers and their workers checked into hotels in the center of town.

To ensure everyone would be ok, the government issued 4 blankets to every person. The fountain in the center of town froze solid and stopped flowing. The town seemed ghostly, save the lights in the windows and the smoke from the chimneys. The streets became thicker with snow then ever. A plane tried in with a month’s supply of extra canned food, as though the colony had been preparing for winter, but did not have enough alms to sustain them through the early winter storm. However, the plane could not stop on the frosted runway, and skidded almost into the center of town. Though it did 10,000 dollars of damage to airport structures and the plane is no longer flyable, the supplies did get in. The harbor began to look like it contained giant icebergs that vaguely resembled ships as the snow settled and the sea froze thick and hard. Also, though quietly, a nasty flu bug started to circulate around the colony.

Life near the Arctic was going to be quite hard indeed.

But Kiravians were a temperate to polar people, and the colonists here had seen worse. Still, many Danrev and Iskev families were afffected by the sea ice that grounded their trawlers, and the snow that harmed their farms.

The Prior opened the monastery to all the people of the surrounding area. They all huddled in the chapel. The large fireplaces were lit, keeping everyone warm. The kitchens had a full sock of food. The monks played games, told stories, sang songs, and drank wine with the others who had chosen to seek refuge in the monastery. The great stone walls held up well against the strong winds. Everyone nearly forgot that the weather was so bad out side.

The city continued to be shut down while the blizzard raged on. Slowly, however, the blizzard grew worse. The concrete walls were frozen solid, and the concrete lookout posts began to crack. The SMPF stationed inside the lookout posts were already just frozen ice blocks.

Any cars parked outside shattered from the high density of objects flying about in the air. The apartment complexes rocked back and forth, and almost all of the greens planted in the city were frozen. The concrete piers froze up, and all of the SMPF who were talking about the ship stood in the same positions when they were flash-frozen.

Slowly, the massive ship in the harbour began to collapse. The frozen SMPF officers shattered as they hit the sides of the ship, and many of the ships that were sitting in the harbour literally broke into pieces. One of the shore batteries exploded, creating a crater, and the crane fell over and smashed into the icy concrete, collapsing it. The exploded shore battery sent fragments threw the air that instantly froze, and even the fire was frozen.

Apparently, the blizzard was taking its toll on New Vladistov.

Conditions continued to worsen. One of the apartment buildings suddenly froze for seemingly no reason, and then collapsed into another apartment, which in turn collapsed onto another. The icy walls broke apart, and civilians inside flash froze as they met with the icy temperatures. The rail line started to bend, and the rail depot collapsed as well, taking with it all of the civilians and packages inside. Suddenly, the rail ties started to implode, and a train toppled over. The other shore battery exploded as well, and this time all of the fragments froze on the spot.

Aboard the ship, there was no life save for those inside. The hurricane-like storm grew progressively worse, and another crane on the concrete dock collapsed, destroying another part of the harbour as well as bringing down Stoklomolvi Pier 03. Fishing trawlers and one large container ship all imploded, and the container boat sank to the bottom in the form of a massive piece of ice. Concrete buildings started collapsing, and ice began creeping into areas not directly affected by the storm.

The chapel outside was frozen solid, though the inside was almost perfectly fine, as was the condition for most buildings near New Vladistov. The gates to the city were frozen completely, and they could not open even if one entered authorised codes. The only way that the gate could open at this point was if someone bombarded it with pebbles, upon which the gate would shatter.

New Vladistov looked like a massive city made out of ice.

They rained down like meteorites cutting through concrete and metal alike. Pier 04 was completely obliterated not even the underwater foundation remained. The explosion send waves rushing through the harbor. Other ships were washed up onto the concrete piers. On of the boats landed in a nearby building ripping a sizable whole in the roof.

The ship's explosion killed no one other than those aboard the ship, since everyone else was either inside an apartment or was dead. Stoklomolvi Pier 04 almost literally melted into nothing, seeing as to how it turned into ice. Meanwhile, the communications centre nearby was crushed by a large piece of ice/steel. The concrete structures lined near the bay were almost all crushed to pieces, and the cannery collapsed after getting beaten by almost literally tonnes of snow.

The hurricane-storm was at its strongest; a few moments later, the eye of the storm appeared. A few citizens walked outside, but a CommissarCam announcement convinced them otherwise.

Note to all citizens remaining outside: GO BACK INDOORS. This is the EYE of the storm, please go back indoors.

Upon hearing this frightful comment everyone rushed back inside. The moment the last of the civilians ran away, the storm picked up again at full strength. Due to the brittleness of structures, two more apartments toppled over, killing numerous civilians. Fuel lines in all vehicles froze, and Stoklomolvi Pier 01 toppled into the sea. A massive container ship containing canned fruit smashed into the remains of the detonated ship, ripping open its hull. Hundreds if not thousands of canned fruit poured out of the side of the ship, costing the small state company hundreds of thousands of stoklomovs.

After the storm had ended the monks forced the great monastery doors open. The total amount of snow that had fallen amounted to 8 feet. The first thing they did was dug out the garage, where the 4x4's were kept. The monks planned ahead for a hard storm and had drained all the fluids out of the vehicles to prevent damage to them. With in hours they had the vehicles fluids replenished and tested the strength of the wind packed snow. It supported the vehicle which struggled to drive up steep 8 foot ramp of snow the monks had made when digging out the garage. When he emerged form the chapel he got back into the 4x4 and entered the city (snow made a ramp over the walls) they found what looked to be a SMPF barracks and began digging out the entrence. When the storm came towards the city of New Bordeaux, the citizens were already prepared and thanks to this they were able to avoid a significant number of casulties. Some damage to buildings occured and people mostly stayed indoors, Parson Smith saw his congregation coming inside his chapel for shelter, some of them hoped their children were alright at the monastery. Raymond Beaumont issued a city-wide alert and issued an order for people to remain indoors until further notice. Television stations were broadcasting a few shows but also some emergency broadcasting reports, etc (radio stations were also doing this). As the Prior and the monks wandered about, the civilians who had survived were hammering on doors to get out of their hell-holes. A number of parties were able to escape from the icy graves, and were running around in search of friends or loved ones. When the surviving SMPF emerged from bunkers, they immediately organised into search parties for other survivors. When they neared the entrance, they saw the Prior and his monks.

"Ho, there! You survived the storm, great!"

The SMPF ran towards the monks, with the leader blowing on his whistle like there was no tomorrow. The others were smiling from ear to ear that life has finally been spotted. Meanwhile, the sailors were appalled that their lives' works were ruined by the hurricane-storm. Their ships were ruined, and the docks were almost completely gone. Because there was no concrete between the docks and the road, almost every smooth surface was covered with a thick layer of ice. When communications were finally restored and the sky was turning blue, the ruined city contacted the Stoklomolvi Port Authority in the mainland. When the news arrived, a broadcast from the temporary New Vladistov Port Authority building was blared out over the speaker in the centre of town, which was the only speaker remaining.

It is a sad tragedy today in New Vladistov. The storm has ravaged our city, yet it has united us. It has unified us against all odds. It has strengthened or belief in the brotherhood. We will rebuild. We will march on. Stoklomolvi, unite!

Some citizens were angered by this blind propaganda, while others made themselves feel hopeful about rebuilding their community. In any form, the city was going to be rebuilt, and it was going to be stronger than ever.

We have a deal. The silver will be shipped out immenantly.

=============

In the colony town, the people emerged from the sotrm. It had not been that harsh: the embankment had taken most of the storm easily, not even damaged. And any wind that got through at best damaged any protruding objects. Such was the design of the buildings.

However, 6 of the wind turbines, while still standing, had been hit by such a strong wind that they had burned out, after producing a staggering 25 MW of power for half a minute before.

The citizens came out, quickly repaired any damage to the turbines and buildings, before continuing with their work, albeit in the snow.

The mine was not badly effected: after a few minutes, the machinery was roaring away like it normally did, ripping ore from the rocks to the factory, that produced the thousands of metal ingots.

More buildings than people were harmed in New Bordeaux as the citizens came out of their homes to see some buildings battered by the storm, some to the extent that they had to be torn down. Roads were cleared by workers so trucks would be able to get started on their drive to the monastery while miners soon went back to work. There was not a significant number of human casualties in New Bordeaux and everyone was thankful for this. Within the week, New Bordeaux was back on its feet. After they had searched the city the Prior had the monks gather some wood, and a large pot form the chapel. In the center of the most populated part of the city, the Prior gather the wood together and made a fire. Then he gathered some snow in the large pot and put it over the fire. When the water began to boil the Prior raised the pot so it was further form the fire so that it would not be boiling but would still be kept warn. Then he ordered the large drum of hot coco mix be poured into the pot. Then he took a giant ladle and began portioning the hot coco into cups. While he was doing this he sent the monks off to gather the people of the town and bring them to him.

We approve of the forestry operation, as long as selective cutting is used, rather than strip cutting, and that 3 trees are planted ofr every one cut. Seeds are available at Ft. Tilton free of charge. We will also allow the minign operation, but Imperial Geological engineers must approve the mine site first, as it lies so close to Point Blanchard, which is an important seabird nestin ground, and cannot be damaged.

After the blizzard, the pale blue, hazy sky became clear over the island, save for a few retreating clouds hanging over the sea.

Soldiers were sent from the Kiravian cities to each of the foriegn settlements on snowmobiles, to inspect the damage. Imperial Scarlet Cross helicopters and Imperial medical cruisers arrived at the island to aid the sick and injured.

Taigashore's harbour was heavily damaged, and most of the piers were now beneath the icy Northwest Subarctic Sea. The vigilant habrour master saved the ships only by constant hammering of the ice form their hulls.

The capital looked as if it was a snow sculpture. The streets had crackedfrom the ice, and snow blocked the movement of ethnyol vehicles and reindeer carts.

Weather forecasts were good. There were more storms froming in the Gulf of Erinava, but they would not hit the islands for quite a while, if at all.

The monks had cleared up most of the snow within the courtyard. Most of the new wooden home that had been built for the new arrivals had clasped under the weight of the snow. Lucky most of the colonist had sought shelter in the monastery. When the final tally was taken there were 56 missing presumed dead. Upon receiving permission from the natives, the colonists began cutting down trees and rebuilding they're homes. It was also decided to dig a larger basement for the chapel for supplies and emergency sleeping quarters for the event of another strong storm, of course fireplaces were put in all the rooms of the new basement. The monks awaited the Geological engineers who would hopefully be arriving soon to inspect the mine site.

IC: The snow flakes fell slowly at first, sprinkling the ground. However, soon they were falling fast, and piling up. The snow didn't seem to stop for days on end. Everyone had been forced to take shelter in their homes, and the windows afforded only a look at the endless sheet of white that blocked the sky. A few days passed, and people began to change. People turned from boredom, to fear, to paranoia. Tensions ran high as the food supply and temperature began to drop. A few people left their homes, driven insane by lack of movement, to never be seen again. Things were getting dire, and something had to be done.

Day by day, the city grew stronger. More immigrants arrived from the mainland, and the harbour thawed. The whole city began to thaw, and water puddles formed everywhere. Civilians re-opened shops. The rail depot was functioning again. The rail ties were fully repaired, and the concrete walls were being rebuilt. New apartments began to rise out of the ice, and new gardens were planted. Shore batteries were rebuilt along the coast, and many new cranes were constructed. All of these new buildings had an anti-freeze circulatory system installed, and anti-freeze continually ran inside the structures.

Hopefully, this catastrophe may be averted in the future.

IC: The ship LVS Lacedonia and its sister boat LVS Bon'Aventure reached the northwest coast of Asåvik Island (known in Nord-Brutlandese as Asavica). It had been a long trip from Brutland and Norden in the South Pacific. But to the settlers keen for adventure, this was just the start.

"Noi s'sunt," Captain Nilo Scocco announced to his fellow settlers. "Via la grazie Dea, noi venirecce savolal sunt. Bongànte te verdune."
"We are here... By the grace of God, we arrived here safely. Congratulations to everyone."

There was a flurry of activity on deck, and soon, they started unloading the things they had bought from home. They then chose the location of the new settlement, named Lacedonia, after their ship and the hometown of the famed Nordener explorer, at the foot of a hill, 600 meters off the coastline. Soon, everyone is busy setting up. Some of the men cleared the area by cutting some of the trees. A big tent was pitched for their temporary shelter, as the men continued to clear the area and set-up the prefab building they brought all the way from home.

The prefab building was half-finished when the sun set, and the people retired to a hearty lunch of fish, potatoes, and stew.

After bout 15 minutes of analysis, the engineer reported to the monk, "Sir, it seems that you'll be clear to mine, but there's a very, very displaced mass of rock making up that slight ridge to the right. Any activity could send it crashing down. SO be mindful of that. Also, you'll have to pause mining operations for 4 weeks in Secondmonth, for the seabird mating season. The prefab government house was finished, and houses are staring to be built according to the layout plan for the settlement. It was a picture of a close-knit community, with men helping build houses, women cooking and tending the children. The prefab government house was also impressive, with roof made of solar panels to generate some electricity for communication. Wells are being dug, water is being filtered, streets are being paved, some areas are being cleared of trees for agriculture, and a greenhouse is being set up. They are doing everything to make Lacedonia a self-sustaining community.

Captain Nilo Scocco, the head of the settlement, was helping plant potatoes under the newly-built greenhouse when an old lady came to him. It was Fiorella Lascano, the dentist wife of the settlement's doctor.

"Un di la stardu vegreco," She said, with a very worried expression on her face.
"One of the children is missing."

Captain Scocco straightened up. "Qui? Chi?" It dawned on him that they had not explored the area very well, and that the woods are thick and the nights are cold, and it is very easy to get lost.
"What? Who?"

"Knut Battaglia, enne-anna, figlio di Cappino Battaglia."
"Knut Battaglia, nine years old, son of Captain Battaglia."

Captain Battaglia was one of the soldiers in the settlement who brought his family - his two sons, to be exact. "Chi sgreco per la stardo?"

The Coastal Defence installation at Caledonira was firing out to sea, fighting the Mancen ships. Imperial soldiers fought the occasional landing team.

The commander of Ft. Tilton was busy readying the fort for an attack, whilst giving orders for some of his men to set up gun emplacements on the peninsula. A contingent of the Imperial Navy was en route from the Eastern part of the colony, where naval bases were located, but they were 3 days away.

More MiGs arrived with torpedoes and bombarded the Mancen ships. After a long battle, the sound of cannons grew softer as fighting took place elsewhere. The Stoklomolvi Imperial Navy then diverted its attention to the other blockades and started obliterating them with cannons and missiles. The naval battery was recalibrated and targeted the enemy ships and fired, and the 600mm cannon was loaded and fired in a fashion similar to an AT gun. The city was mostly secured, and the gates were locked. SMPF officers mowed down Mancen troops that were running about below. Several officers were shot by the brigands, but for the most part the city fared amazingly well. The chapel was under siege by the Mancen troops, who, after a while appeared to start torching the stone building, which was physically impossible. Then, however, the worst of the worst happened. Several Mancen aircraft flew overhead and bombed the city, killing numerous civilians. An AA gun shot down most of them, but one escaped to tell the tale. It was soon chased by a MiG and was blown to pieces by its air-to-air missiles.

The Stoklomolvi Imperial Navy, however, was getting beaten back into the harbour. Slowly, they were forced to retreat into the cover of the shore batteries. Several MiGs flew over with torpedoes and bombed a few ships, but most were ripped apart by enemy heavy anti-air machine guns. The battle raged on.

The Mancen troops finaly busted down the chapel door. They found no one and nothing of value. The parsons listened to them as they searched the chapel above them but they knew the Mancen troops would find nothing of value. The parsons had hidden all things of value in the basement with them. The trap door to the basement was covered by a rug. The Mancen troops again tried to burn the chapel from the inside but were unable to as all that was in the stone chapel were a few peaces of wooden furniture and a rug on the floor both of which had been treated with a flame resistant stain. They soon left and directed they're attention to the city.

The officers in the tower had killed off many of the Mancen troops. However, two self-propelled artillery tanks had rolled out of the cruiser and was bombarding the city wall. After sustaining quite a bit of damage, the SMPF retaliated with their RPG-9s. One of the artillery vehicles exploded, sending fragments that embedded themselves into the other artillery tank. Soon after, a rocket impacted on the engine, vaporising it and everyone around the tank. A massive AT gun on one of the concrete towers was turned around and fired on the advancing Mancen troops. A number of them stuck C4 onto the damage wall and detonated them, which destroyed the wall completely. When they charged inside, they were met be enfilade fire from MG4 Heavy Machine Gun emplacements manned by the SMPF that were stationed all around the city.

The Mancen troops had not yet found the monastery, but they were taking no chances. Lookouts were posted, the people in the new town surrounding the monastery kept a packed bag by the door ready to seek shelter within the monastery walls. At the monastery new structures were being built to accommodate more people. Also the wall were being strengthened, and goods were being stockpiled, in preparation for a siege. All trade with other colonies was temporarily stopped due to safety concerns. The artisans from Kirav, were put up in they're own bunkhouse. The inspection and hiring was postponed until safety could be insured. The bus was stored in the monastery garage. The Prior hoped that the mayor of New Vladistov was okay. Until now, the Mancean troops had not been a bother to the Alfegosians. But when they heard of the battles across the island...

The two massive airships picked up their special cargo, and flew high above the Mancean fleet. Once over them, the airships dropped over 8000 tons of spoil onto the enemy ships, before flying back to pick up more.

That would humiliate them.

At the same time, 20 stealth bombers were flying in low, with a special mission in mind: they each carried 4 Sinker IV Anti-shipping missiles, and 20 500lb bombs.
They came in over New Eilfur, and once they had locks on the military in the area, commenced their attack.
Explosions rent the ground as the bombs detonated, guided to within a few inches of their target by the designator mounted onboard the plane.

They then circled and flew out to the Alfegan colony, where they let loose their shipping missiles at every ship in the area before returning home.

A fleet of LHC government ships arrived and dropped off 10,000 Cuban immigrants, 9,000 European Cuban decendents, and 1,000 Chinese Cubans, men, women and children, to a cold harsh land.

The immigrants were lef there on purpose without, money, food, water or anything except the clothes on thier backs, as the fleet of ships sailed off, the Captain incharge of the fleet of ships radioed his men for a job well done and added good riddance I hope they freeze to death, knowing quite well his comment would reach La Habana Cuba high government officials who would welcome his comment and promote him to Admiral for his revolutionary spirit and commitment, maybe even a reserved elective seat in LHC National Assembly Parliment, LHC NAP.

The immigrants gathered all the raw materials they could to build temporary shelters, gathered what ever edible wild plants they could find, ice fished and hunted wild animals with primitive hand tools they made and invented as their world reputations as great getbyers and inventors were put to the test.

They set up camp fires, and families huddled together for warmth as they slept through the night, it seemed like they were all going to starve to death as well as freeze to death.

Date of Arrival, Saturday Oct 20, 2007.

The ships had prepared to sail. They were taking the construction crews to New Horizon to begin building the colony. They had been held back at first due to the blizzard, and now due to war on the island. The crews had been living on the ships, docked in a harbor on Stanley, the northern most Island in the island chain that made up Horizon, for weeks now. They were growing tired of life on the ships, wanting either to move on to New Horizon, or go home until they could. But the choice had been made, the government would not send them into the middle of a small war.

Food, winter clothes, blankets and private donations $ quickly began to arrive, some of the immigrants had overseas relatives, families and friends in these lands.

The Cuban American National Foundation CANF, helped them set up thier government and first free democratic election many had ever known, with a 100 % voter turnout and 65 % of the vote, they elected Alberto Chang a Chinese Cuban of unmixed Chinese ancestry as their first municipal mayor and leader for a first 5 year term, even though many Chinese Cubans were actually of mixed European and Chinese Cuban descent and thier ethnic group made up only 10 % of the immigrants, as the Chinese Cubans have traditionally been known and respected as great business man and hard workers who quickly joined the middle class and even upper class in the pre-revolutionary period.

An Architect would draw the blueprint of the new La Pequeña Habana municipality of Asåvik Island including agricultural areas, with open and enclosed areas with man made lakes where they could control the temperatures and have beach areas, which CANF would finance, Mas Tec Construction Corp would hire the immigrant workers to build thier own municipal city, Mas Tec was also working on a laser force field shield that if successful would shield the city from freezing weather and other natural disasters.

Ethnic Cuban investors from overseas would invest and build businesses, banks would provide low interest loans for the immigrants to start thier own business, The Hispanic Republic of Miami Jai-Alai would provide the municipal government economic aid for the immigrants.

This caused a direct effect of lower overseas family remittances $ to thier LHC Cuban families, relatives, friends and Cuban government for at least a few years.

The immigrants now celebrate each year on Oct 20, 2007 The Day of Arrival with pork and other ethnic foods.

Our laws dictate that soldiers fighting honourably, captured in battle, be granted mercy. Please do not execute them.

As for learning about their culture, there is only about enough to write a 60-page book about. Mance is a naion where nearly all elements of culture, save for language, have been repressed under the Cultural Revolution. It had been a long journey, with many delays, a number even before it began. But finally, the Horizon ships were entering the harbor. It wouldn't be long before New Horizon came to life.

The town council and mayor had yet to be chosen. That left Royal Horizon Federal Police captain Cam Roberts in charge of the colony, for now.

He stood next to his truck on the deck of the ocean going ferry as it pulled into the dock. He was wearing the standard federal police foreign duty uniform, a digital camouflage uniform made up of shades of grey and white. His truck, and all of the police vehicles for the colony, was a former military Blazer SUV, known as a CUCV. Still in it's military 3 color 'nato' camouflage paint with a red and blue lightbar and modifications to allow to truck's diesel engine to run properly in the sub-arctic temperatures.

It was a huge leap for the captain, who had been in charge of a small police detachment in a small farming community before getting this assignment. The cold would take a lot of getting used to, and the job was sure to be interesting at the very least.

"Well back in the 1950's some people in the Beatus did some experimenting," Parson Smith said as he pulled down the projector screen, and fiddled through cabinet for something, "and it didn't end well, you'll see, if I can find the film, and projector."

Raymond watched Parson Smith try to find the film and thought about what could have gone wrong in his nation's projects and why Parson Smith had wanted to show Raymond the film, etc. "Have you found the film, Parson?" Raymond asked after a couple of minutes.

Raymond watched Parson Smith try to find the film and thought about what could have gone wrong in his nation's projects and why Parson Smith had wanted to show Raymond the film, etc. "Have you found the film, Parson?" Raymond asked after a couple of minutes.

"Ah, yes," he said pulling a large case from the cabinet. He set it on a nearby table and opened it to reveal a old fashioned film projector. Then he removed a film reel. He plugged in the projector, and got the film reel into it. Then he turned off the lights and flipped a switch on the projector. A clicking sound was heard immediately. Then the number 9 flashed across the screen, then eight, and so on down too 1. Then came the film. It was in black and white. Set in a lab room, with a man in a white lab coat. He began to speak, "This is Project Alpha Hotel 5 1 9ner. Hello, I am Doctor House. Today we will be checking up on subject 55187, who has been in isolation for 5 months now, and this will be the first time we see him since then. When we left him, he was 7 years old, he had plenty of food, and water. Subject 55187 was the result of Dr. Hibbert experimentation with the human genes. Unfortunately, he died from that heart attack well he was with the subject, administering some shots. Well now we will go and check on the subject." The scene cut to a door. Dr. House was standing next to it. "This is the subjects living area," he said as he opened the door. The room was completely dark. "That's strange, the lights should be on in here," he said. He flipped a light switch on the wall but nothing happened. Then he waved at someone off camera. "I'm sure this is nothing, just a glitch in the day night cycle. Nothing to worry about." Then a noise was heard from inside the room. Doctor House walked toward the door. As he stood in front of it, something came out of the darkness, it was just a blur, and Doctor House's body was in the way. In a second it pulled Doctor House into the room. Moments later screaming was heard from somewhere. Then an arm wearing a white lab coat stained with something, but it was hard to tell what with the black and white film, hit the camera, and the film ended. Parson Smith turned the lights back on.
