Here is my race, submitted for comments/ approval/ dissaproval. I wanted them to be different from the others, and I tried to make it so they would not be overpowering, in other words they would still use guns unless extremely gifted. I would have them in hiding and somehow figure out Apastchin is out there and send a party to bring him to his people. Maybe I'll throw in a prophecy about him being king or something. ;)

The Ingas

A Magical race of humans. Each is born into a certain caste, and then there are sub castes, some are inclusive others can over lap.

Base Caste
Members being able to perform nearly all of the general spells with ease, as well as movement spells. Their attack spells are weak, and most usually use movement spells to hit an opponent to greater affect.

Noble Caste
The range is rather large, noble casters are not normally anything but lukewarm until past 15, when they have enough life to become either.
- Light/ Those who are good, one can not cast light spells if not pure in heart.
- Luke warm/ Those who live in the gray area. Spells are basic and not very powerful.
- Dark/ Those who are bad. Dark spells are evil based and are impossible to cast if one is not full of darkness.

Nature Caste
- Elemental Generate forces of nature (ie fire ball, ice spike, water wave, etc). Different forces for appropriate traits.
1. Fire - Courage
2. Ice - Self Reliant
3. Water - Completely Unselfish
4. Earth - Honorable, (ie Chivalrous)
5. Air - Prudent, Just
6. Aether (What makes the Void, Dark Matter) - Only the most powerful, good or evil
7. Electric - Person has true Hatred and wishes to cause suffering for target.

-Transcendental
Power comes from communing with nature, able to manipulate forces, (ie make a water wave out of pre existing water) Most all are primarily Elemental, however the few born transcendental can manipulate nearly all of nature, from plants to light.
An Elemental can become transcendental in their abilities only if completely pure.

Shifter Caste- Natural/ Able to change form into another living thing the user has touched.

- Artificial/ Able to change form into a non living object of similar size.

Impossible to have both unless given special power.

Power Caste
- Energy/ Has the ability to use pure energy into blasts.

- Self/ Can power self up, as in faster or stronger.

One can be both. Need to be in complete control of mental processes to have both.

General
All may have the ability to cast non attack spells with variance on an individual’s power such as:
Harmless flame
A Light
Healing
Levitation
Other Spells that are not extremely powerful or usable in combat.

Location: The main group is located in what was once Wyoming, however many were disperesed after the cataclysmic event.

Your new race is approved

Yes, i'll have the hybrids become her elite guards. No one of the human inhabitants of Southfar knows what they really are, since they always wear heavy armor and iron masks to cover their nature when Tormantha lets representatives of her human minions enter her lair. I can already picture it: A soldiers fails to comply with some order, is called before the sorceress, where he is brought by another human soldier, and the sorceress, after a short speech, gives a wink at her hybrid soldiers, who immedeately assault the poor guy, reavealing heir true nature, and tear him to pieces infront of his comrade who had to bring him there, while the sorceress gives a sarcastic smile and dismisses to other soldier...
Well... that'd be something for the IC thread, then.

Could you post Tormatha's stats like u did for the Kloa-ti? I'm pretty good at drawing, I could add images if you describe her appearance (in the hybrid and purely human forms) as well, since I would like to add all this to my NSwiki article.

Special Abilities: Immune to Acid, Paralysis ( Touch ) , Sleep ( Eye Contact ), Dark Vision, Charm Reptiles, Corrupt Water ( Cast Spell / Small Area)
Strengths: Tormatha can't be killed, if her hit points reach zero she transforms to mist that returns to the nearest freash water source where her physical form takes six months to regenerate.

Sorry I didn't get on this morning, but I was in an accident with my truck last night. I hit a patch of black ice on a bridge and it through my truck off the road in a jack knife position and slammed it into the guard rail in the medium strip. Even though I had my seatbelt fastened I was thrown into the sleeper because of the jack knife. But the good lord protected me in that I walked away from a semi truck that was totaled with just a few bruises and soreness, I could have been hurt much worse.

Alright, I had a read over of the Ocean City location.

Sure, we'll do it that way, but bear in mind that both Theron and Mechanus have the resources to simply brute force their way in if necessary, with high explosives. That doesn't quite make for a good story, though, so I'll save it for a dramatic escape or something if there is a truly serious problem in Ocean City.

You know, the whole 'Oh crap we're all going to die if we don't get out of here RIGHT NOW' sort of situation.

I'm glad I am still able to continue this thread, I want each of you to know that I enjoy playing it, and hold you all in high esteem.

Yes I know both Theron and Mechanus are formable in many ways. But since the surface location has not been reveled yet it would be impossible to break into at this point in the storyline. That by no means rules out something like that after I revel it's location, but I do appreciate your willingness to make the story as interesting as possible .... Thank You Hakurabi.

Spells can not kill a character unless the player who owns that character allows it, this is an NS Rule that I support.

I'm inclined to support this as well. Imagine spending several RL weeks or months building an awesome backstory to a character, then have him / her killed off in a finger-snap.

Although these "killing blows" should be no problem aganist random monsters, generic NPC's, or other kinds of fantasy + fiction + sci-fi "Red-Shirts". After all, thats how RPG's generally work out.

This spell can protect you to a point, but it can't make you total invulerable, because that is considered a godmod.

I was thinking of having protection spells halve damage from elements (like 1/2 fire damage, 1/2 water damage, etc.) and maybe as much as 25% damage reduction from melee attacks. This should be in-line with most general video game, board, computer, and card game RPG rules and concepts.

Maybe 50% melee damage reduction is possible, but thats after a lot of hard work, research, "leveling up" of sorts, etc. plus long-term participation in this RP.

I'm not sure what dark matter would do to a human. Could you explain in more detail please?

I think he means something like shadow damage or magic, like creating black mist or shroud the target in pitch blackness while being assaulted by blizzard forces (snow, ice, sleet, etc.).

------------------------

Incidentally, I'm at a sort of writing impasse right now for the RP. My character is checking out the mining stuff the Therons are doing, and learning how the Therons do things. I was thinking of having that portion of the RP jump forward a bit, as right now it's pretty much "Go to X deposit, check X site for Y minerals, start mining Y minerals. Move to the next X site. Repeat." for probably a few game / RP weeks or months.

I want to start RP'ing infrastructure, development, and possibly even ecounter magic (up to this point, my people think magic is just folklore from fairy tales, fantasy books, video games, etc.), but I can't do that until the Theron "arc" is finished.

Cool. Just so you know, I will hardly be using my most destructive spells against a fellow person's character, unless of course we discuss ahead of time to battle. Most of these spells are aimed at destroying mass NPC units, etc. So don't worry, I won't be breaking any rules via god-mod or otherwise. As for the magic shield, it doesn't last forever nor can my character continueosly use it, fatigue affects him just as it does everyone else.

Where would you recommend I rise to the surface? I'm unaware of where there are magic peoples on the map.

How about Greenland, which is straight north of Kormanthor. Kormanthor is a nation of Humans, Half Elves, Elves, Dwarves, etc... not all citizens of Kormanthor are magic users but there are quite a few. If you enter Kormanthor Forest DO NOT DESTROY anything in the Forest or the Druid Woodland will be after you. The City of Myth Essembra has a protective covering spell of elven high magic which allows all people certain spells such as flight within the City. It also protects the City against attack by negating destructive magic or expelling the offender to jail or out of Kormanthor. Myth Essembra is also a post modern city as far as technology levels go's so you find the best of both worlds there. Tormatha is an evil Black Dragon that has came to Fantasy World to take over and enslave the inhabitants, she is a very high level magic user as well as part water elemental. She is the new Queen of the Southfarians. The City of Phoenix is located in the desert and is a mixture of modern tech, with a dash of genie magic, and a cursed old caslte in it's center, etc.. Most of the rest of the known peoples go from hating magic users to not knowing that they exist so it might be a good idea stay away from them at least in the beginning.

Note that if Mechanus (Not Aidan, Mechanus as a whole) does decide that the Kormanthor Forest is a real threat, they do have the capacity to breach pretty much any magic given time.

On the other hand, Mechanus is not hostile towards anyone at the moment, only Aidan, who is independent, though Woodward might already be hostile towards Mechanus.

Note that if a magic user were to come into Mechanus, so long as they don't cause trouble they will mostly be ignored, and perhaps approached by artificers looking to make some money on the side.

Kormanthor Forest has the same right as any other country to protect its borders. I'm not sure though why you might think they are anymore a threat then any other country.

All of you are welcome in Myth Essembra as long as you follow the rules.

Please realize that the subs were attacked by an Artificial Intelligence that was designed to defend Ocean City & Metheril Island. Unforunately it has decided that mankind has done enough damage to the planet so it is out to kill or assimilate all biological life forms. It is the reason Ocean City has lost contact with their R & D Lab. It has already killed or assimilated about fifty percent of the original population of the R & D City. The other half is either running for their lives and / or defending strongholds in the metro area. The lab entered by Col. Klines group can be considered a stronghold being defended, who will befriend the Ocean City Team. When you get to the city feel free to find other labs where assimilated people are readying an invasion force, and conduct your own search and destroy missions, once you have defeated the defenders you can " FIND " new ( MT or PMT ) technology there that you can claim for your country.

Well now your sub team is facing all out conflict with the R & B Artificial Intelligence with the chance to find treasure at the end. Also Totmatha is a danger to all countries magic or not because she wishes to take over the planet just as the AI does. So eventually there will probly be a conflict between them. Strator the Demon is still hanging around, Strator the player as you know quit the game but gave his permission to destroy his character if we wished. Strator would make a good conflict with someone. I'm inclined to support this as well. Imagine spending several RL weeks or months building an awesome backstory to a character, then have him / her killed off in a finger-snap.

Exactly

Although these "killing blows" should be no problem aganist random monsters, generic NPC's, or other kinds of fantasy + fiction + sci-fi "Red-Shirts". After all, thats how RPG's generally work out.

For random monsters and " Red Shirts " it isn't a problem as long as Nationstates doesn't have a problem with it. Another thing is how we can agree on which character falls under this catagory or not. On this I am open to suggestions.

If this was a normal RP such as a when I DM a DND adventure it would be much easier because the DM is free to do whatever he or she wants for the most part. But being this is Nationstates I want to follow the rules here so it is much harder to do.

I think he means something like shadow damage or magic, like creating black mist or shroud the target in pitch blackness while being assaulted by blizzard forces (snow, ice, sleet, etc.).

I was thinking of a trap in DND that is called the Sphere of Annihilation. The problem with it is that it always kills by disingrating the character. There's also one I use quite often is a shadow like field that teleports, removes clothing and or weapons from characters or physically transforms them into something else, but again the player has that choice here.

Maybe one of the second wave of Marine landing ships could either land or be shot down in your country. Or maybe the Enterprise could come to visit you for some reason. I have a number of non magical characters that could come to meet your people somehow too until your ready for the magical ones.

In my opinion, any monster, "red shirts", or everyday people should be fair game to be killed. It would be a colossal pain trying to keep track of every monster and NPC in the game. Imagine trying to keep track of like 1000 monsters or 100 different NPC's in different locations and such.

This rule should apply to all NPC's in the RP. The only exceptions should be the player's civilization or "Army on march to attack someone or something". These things should be resolved in standard RP fare (army VS army, or whatever).

If this was a normal RP such as a when I DM a DND adventure it would be much easier because the DM is free to do whatever he or she wants for the most part. But being this is Nationstates I want to follow the rules here so it is much harder to do.

This should be pretty simple- Shield spells should be able to cut down elemental damage by half. Fire shielding = 1/2 fire damage. Water shielding = 1/2 water damage. Thunder shielding = 1/2 thunder damage. And so on.

"Physical Reduction" shield spells should only reduce damage from ranged attacks- like arrows, javelins, bullets, etc.

For this- lets assume Thrashia's character has the ability to cast elemental shield spells. Instead of an "Omni-elemental" shield, he needs to cast seperate elemental shields if he wishes to have more than one resistance at any given time.

Simple, yes?

There's also one I use quite often is a shadow like field that teleports, removes clothing and or weapons from characters or physically transforms them into something else, but again the player has that choice here.

Hmm- perhaps keep the blizzard damage, and any of the "Shadow effects" like teleport, removes things, physical transformation, shadow damage (like dark / shadow elemental), etc. should be okay. The "killing" should be left up to the player- whether he wants his own character to die or not.

Maybe one of the second wave of Marine landing ships could either land or be shot down in your country. Or maybe the Enterprise could come to visit you for some reason. I have a number of non magical characters that could come to meet your people somehow too until your ready for the magical ones.

I don't mind any of the Magic characters.

I am actually a bit wary of having things happen too fast. I mean, ecountering the Theron, then ecountering Essembrians, Enterprise-ians, marines, etc. one right after another.

I want to have time for everybody to develop their own civilizations. For example, I want to develop my civilization with the knowledge of the Therons now existing. Hakabri and other players may wish to develop Mechanus, Theron, Antarctica, or other places some more, add more backstory, flesh things out some more, and so on.

Then another round of ecounters and such during the expansion / meeting "unknown" people- like my Coloradoians meeting, say, Mechanus or Essembraians like 10 years down the line after repairing Denver and stuff. Or Theron ecountering Luchamos civilization, or what have you.

Then repeat the process until everybody has established decent civilizations, area borders, infrastructure, etc. Then have large scale wars or demon conflict or the big-ass things afterwards.

If we suddenly have everybody know about everybody, it kind of takes out the mystery and unexpected out of the RP, if you know what I mean.

I don't have a problem understanding your ideas on damage, my main concern is that we follow NS rules concerning this. Your thoughts on the matter are fine otherwise. Killing will remain in the control of the player only. I would like to see some exploration of the unknown regions as I said before. But it doesn't seem like anyone so far is interested in just pure exploration, I guess it's not as exciting as war games. :( I have been trying to show development in several places, instead of just Kormanthor Forest in the hopes it would generate interest. I'm also trying to keep the warriors of our group interested too. I have reveled that Myth Essembra is not just a place where magic exists, but high tech as well. This follows my thoughts concerning mixing the two gentries in this thread.

I know exactly what you mean. Its extremely annoying to me that 99% of NS players don't care for the good story, exploration, character development, and true nation building RP's. They are so intent on blowing stuff up for the hell of it.

This is why I don't bother anymore with NS RP's. This RP and Earth V are the only RP's I'm involved in and it seems like Earth V is dieing out (again). If this RP and Earth V RP dies out, I'm pretty much out of RP'ing at Jolt altogether unless there's good story, exploration, character, etc. RP's come along.

If people want war RP's, they might as well go to the computer store and buy a damn RTS game like Command + Conquer, Starcraft, Warcraft, and a zillion others. I didn't come to NS to RP "OMG! I declare war 0n j00! I launcherZ 100oo0o0o0o000 n00ks at j00!!!" piece of crap RP's.

I was thinking of starting a small group of evolved humans who are stuck living in the ruins of New York. NY has since become a toxic mess and the humans there have adapted to live comfortably in there. The weakness of this is that they need to wear these heavy resperator systems if they want to leave the vicinity of the city. The landscape of the city is now much like the conditions that the Stranded live in in Gears of War. In fact, I think I will call them The Stranded...yesss...

He used his spell to prevent his followers' attacks from killing, so even if an opponent is stabbed in the heart, the spell puts them in a healing coma that lasts a couple days.

His followers were expelled from the main body, and they slowly brought more into their group. After the apocalyptic event, his followers coalesced quickly, and he is currently sending his best agents out to find the Ingas before the High Council does.

In line to become a monk and work his way onto the high council as a Light Noble, but he decided light magic as weak and not reaching full potential. To this end, he started out on the dark path and gathered followers who were dedicated to becoming the most powerful of the Inga, no matter what the means.

Location:

The woods, wherever it works the best with others.

Physical Description: 5‘11”, 190 lbs. Man who wears a blue cloak.

Bio: Exiled before Machtando, he was suspected of being the bad influence on Machtando, so the council sent agents to find him and bring him to justice. For two years he successfully fought off and even killed agents of the high council, however eventually Noch, Ap’s father captured him. Machtando freed him and he has followed the Dark Lord ever since.

I welcome these characters to Fantasy World, I suggest you might want to look up Queen Tormatha if you are looking for a evil person to work for.

Sounds good .... according to my design of Fantasy World, New York would be located about halfway between Kormanthor Forest and Greenland unless you would prefer it to still be on the coast. What do you think?

I would like it to stay where it is between the forest and Greenland. A desert there would be nice to have.

Whatever works, I might just have them meet up with as many as I can, like the Therons or whoever.

Where would Queen Tormatha be?

Whatever works, I might just have them meet up with as many as I can, like the Therons or whoever.

Where would Queen Tormatha be?

When Tormatha emerged from the dimensional rift that had brought him here from his world he smiled to himself. Yes this planet would do nicely for him to start building his Kingdom. He would take this from the humanoids and make it his new home and they would become his servants in time and he would be their God!

After scouting much of the outer continent by air Tormatha finally found a location for his first community. It was a large island in the middle of huge tract of swampy everglades where he found a village of simple people whom he decided he would transform into his chosen people. It was a simple thing to enchant their water and food supply with a polymorph other spell to get the ball rolling then he morphed from dragon to water and lost himself in the murky water of the everglades surrounding the island.

Originally I was going to RP her, but Southfar asked if he could make her Queen of his characters group. Unforunately I haven't seen any more mention of Southfar RPing Tormatha becoming their Queen yet. So I would say she can still be found in the murky water of the everglades surrounding the island in her water form. So you will need to travel there and seek her out, but be warned she can be unreasonable at times. I will RP her until Southfar decides to return and RP her becoming their Queen.

Guys feel free to start new characters in regards to any post I make. For example I have a guy that has just entered the arabian castle in the center
of Phoenix. I need people to make up encounters for him inside the castle ... OK?

((Kor, could we get more description, as it's now firmly in Ocean City Territory?))

As you exited the tunnel you will have found yourselves inside a huge underground cavern filled half way to the top with water with a good sized island in the very center, in other words an underground lake. As you emerged you should have pick up an a seemingly abanned floating facility, this is where the Ocean City group got their jet ski transports to the island. The island is about an hours trip from the facility from the facility by jet ski. There is no more jet skis in the facility but there is a flying sub. There is also a lab & sub repair section in the floating facility. I assume that your characters are on the island now. The city itself covers the entire island except for the mountains in the center of the island that are connected to the roof of the cavern. There are labs of many differant types all over the city. In each is new tech just waiting to be discovered and claimed by your group, not that it will be easy. I will leave it up to you what you find, and I will allow you to keep what you find after a nice battle is finished. There is one rule however, you can't take everything here because this base is meant as a place where any player who can successfully claim that high tech here can have it. The insides the mountains are where you will find the facilities that open to the surface of the planet. But those facilities are also the headquarters of the people who captured the Ocean City group so beware. Finally I wish to remind you that this is player knowledge, not character knowledge. So you need to write your post in a way that allows the characters to discover all this by exploration.

Note: The entire planet's crust is a honeycomb of water filled passageways that might enable someone with a map of the passageways or tunnels to navigate around the world. So the underwater tunnel you used to enter is only one of many connecting with this cavern. Some of these tunnels are very large and do connect with the oceans on either coast. But you must find and successfully claim a copy of the passageway maps that can be found in the facility under the mountain.

I really don't understand why you refuse to post anymore. All of you are waiting for someone else to post, but no one does. So because of this YOU decide the thread is dead. This is MY thread, it is not your decision to make. Why can't at least one of you try being the first to post, then maybe the others would too. I'm really disappointed that you would allow Fantasy World to die. Well I will continue to post whether you all do or not.

Well I'm back now.
(and actually back)
For good or for bad.
Perhaps make a new thread "Fantasy World Revival, new sign ups welcome!" so new people won't be afraid to sign up for the RP.
So people can renew or re-validate their claims, or others can take them over OR others can quit if they want.

I know I've been in a lot of RPs that coulda been good, but for some reason people drop out.
I have been busy with personal stuff, and PT world which was an RP that was around before Fantasy World, but that died, but is going again after a restart.
I probably won't be very active, but I should be able to post a few times in a week.

Its 0100 Sunday Morning and I just got home from Origins, I've had a lot of fun and there is one more day before it ends. But the best thing is who I meant in person their .... Richard Hatch . For those of you who don't know who he is, he is best known for his role of Captain Apollo on the original Battlestar Galactica! And he is currently in a recurring role as Tom Zarek in the second version of Battlestar Galactica. Well I need to be there at 0800 in the morning so I talk to you all more tomorrow evening.

Please check out this link about Mr. Hatch:
