Wiki article (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Railgun#Railguns_as_weapons) Although full scale guns have been built and fired, including a very successful 90 mm bore, 9 MJ kinetic energy gun developed by DARPA, they all suffer from extreme rail damage and need to be serviced after every shot. Rail and insulator ablation issues still need to be addressed before railguns can start to replace conventional weapons. ))

See the difference? You can't fire explosive lights. At least not in a MT Enviroment.

to fire a particle at the speeds he is saying, you would need a weapon barrel of roughly 1,545 Meters long (looked it up using Google). He said he was firing it from a short barrel on a satelite. That is impossible.


My Railguns are built into large PMT space ships. The barrel is almost 200 meters long (which is the standard design for shooting railgun bolts as fast as i can).

Also. Firing a particle through the atmosphere will cause the particle to desintigrate, making the thing disappear several kilometers away from it's target.
