OOC:Rebels are attacking Latyaq. The Latyaqi government has requested that it's allies, The Scandinvans, send in troops to help. The Scandinvans have 10 legions (50,000 troops) trying to restore order in the Latyaqi capital of Al Iskandariyah.

At the same time, the Latyaqis are trying to build up their security forces so they can defend their own nation. They use lots of help from the Scandinavians.

The Rebels are secretly being funded (and RPd) by the Blackhelm Confederacy, and the Latyaqi government is funded by the Scandinvans, so it is likely the war will be decided by whoever is willing to pay more for their side.

This is continued from here (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=488474).

IC: The Latyaqi leader just announced that the Civil war has begun. He is on tvs throughout the nation asking the citizens to choose his side.

A transmission was sent to Layteq's government about the conflict:

The Federal Republic of Bonstock is willing to deploy approximately 20,000 support troops in support of government forces in the conflict. We will require a seaport to disembark them at, along with a few airbases for Air Force fighters attached to the force. A total of 10 transports, escorted by a carrier battle group, is currently en route to Laytaq to aid in this effort, and they shall take approximately one week to arrive. We will also be willing to provide equipment and supplies to the Laytaq government.

The rebels had consolidated their hold on dozens of little towns around the border. In a small town, 12 miles from Al Iskandariyah, hundreds of car bombs were being assembled. Outside of town, one of the largest Qassam barrages ever was assembled and aimed at the city. On the order to fire, 450 Qassam rockets tore into the sky. !0 exploded in flight, and 3 blew up on the ground, but still, the massive barrage would level parts of the city.

News of the destroyed airbase was not good for Bonstocknian forces, who planned on air support. Thus, as soon as the transports docked at a seaport and unloaded their troops, one of the units, the 396th Air Force Construction Battalion, began work building an airbase just outside. Bonstocknian military planners determined that the 20,000 troops deployed would be insufficient for the operation, so the Bonstocknian 1st Infantry Division, along with more support units, began to embark for Laytaq. This would bring Bonstocknian troop totals to 60,000.

ooc: Is your country mostly desert? and MT is Modern Tech, by the way. You're modern tech if you use stuff like M-16 or AK-47 assault rifles, M-1 Abrams or T-90 tanks, or F-16 or MiG-29 fighter jets.

Bonstocknian Forces deployed to the conflict:

Currently Deployed (20,000 troops):

HQ, Bonstocknian Expeditionary Force, Laytaq
-12th Marine Expeditionary Unit
-39th Marine Expeditionary Unit
-194th Naval Construction Brigade (Bonstocknian Navy)
-396th Airbase Construction Brigade (Bonstocknian Air Force)
-254th Transportation Brigade (Bonstocknian Army)

En Route (40,000 troops), embarked aboard 12 transport ships:

1st Infantry Division (Mechanized, 20,000 troops)
-1st Brigade (Armored, 150 M-1 Abrams tanks)
-2nd Brigade (Mechanized Infantry, 150 M-2 Bradleys, 3,000 troops)
-3rd Brigade (Mechanized Infantry, 150 M-2 Bradleys, 3,000 troops)

-Divisional Artillery (150 M-109 Paladin howitzers)
-Divisional Support Command
24th Special Forces Group (5,000 troops)

ooc: quite the contrary, actually, air support is pretty damn good for helping against insurgancies. Remember Abu Musab Al-Zarqawi? A couple of 500 pound bombs from an F-16 killed him.

ic:

Bonstocknian transports arrived at the seaport, and the troops began unloading. The Air Force was busy pouring concrete into the ground, making a new airbase. When they were finished the Bonstocknians would rebuild the old one. Then they would have two airbases. Good logic, according to Bob Payne, commander of Bonstocknian forces in Laytaq.

The Bonstocknians established a base camp around their new airbase, with 1st Infantry's engineers establishing a suitable tent city for the Bonstocknian mechanized forces. Bonstocknian forces secured the seaport area, and began patrolling to look for insurgants. Meanwhile, a battalion of about 600 Bonstocknian Marines from the 12th Marine Expeditionary Unit rolled towards the capital on trucks and in Humvees, with the intention of establishing a forward operating base in the capital.

Mortar attacks from a distance were now replacing ambushes when it came to convoys. Qassam rockets were also being deployed to fire near the capitol building. The sweepers were also set up. As soon as a sweeper came down the road,a group of RPG troopers would launch an ambush, and quickly flee. The mortar attacks did some damage to the convoys, but they continued onwards because they needed to get their supplies to their soldiers on the frontlines. As well, to protect the sweepers a unit of heavy infantry was assigned to help protect them from ambushes.

In rapid succesion, 15 Lewisite bombs rocked the capitol. A massive gass cloud covered the city. Many, many people were going to die. Televisions and radios were interrupted by a message.

"Because you have let devils of Hydac into your nation, you will all suffer. I urge you, my Latyaqi brothers, to raise arms against all of these foreigners how have come with promises of defense. They are here to destroy Latyaq, and all that it stands for!"

21-06-2006, 22:57
The use of Lewisite has destroyed the reputation of the insurgency. Everywhere in Al Iskandariyah, the people have resolved to destroy it. They have lost almost all popular support they ever held. Many people who let the insurgents use their homes for their snipers are now fighting back. History may show that gassing our citizens spelled the downfall of the rebels.

The people are wondering how the rebels got Lewisite in the first place. Many people suspect that they are being funded by foreign nations, which would be ironic, as many of them have expressed their hatred for reliance on international aid. At the village with Hayord "No, I dont mean body armor. I mean tanks, vehicles, anti-air. Our supplier provide us kevlar and good guns. We don't need yours. We need your vehicles." In the village, two Griffincrest mercenaries were training a group of rebels on how to use a G36E, and coordinating target practice on live Latyaqi POW's.

Several Bonstocknian soldiers were busy drinking and talking about home. They had just flown in on a flight at the newly operational airbase, but they were still awaiting their armored vehicles. One of them looked up, seeing several mortar rounds fall in the area.

"Incoming!" he yelled.

"Take cover!" another shouted

Several Bonstocknians fled around the area, jumping into trenches, under buildings, and behind other obstacles. Four Bonstocknians were killed when one mortar shell landed on them, and two more were wounded. The runway was unoperational for a while, and several Bonstocknians went to repair it when the mortars began firing again. Two Bonstocknians were wounded in this, but most of the base was now on alert. The need was clearly seen to extend the perimiter of the base.

Soon, the transport ships arrived, with the tanks and armored vehicles of the 1st Infantry Division. The division, which had previously been deployed in the Yazmarean conflict, was now combat ready, and had just gone on some valuable R&R back home.

After the shooting abated, Bonstocknian tanks, infantry, and engineers marched out. As the tanks and infantry stood guard, the engineers began building bunkers, connected by trenches, around the base at mortar range away from the base. At least three dozen of these bunkers, each with a .50 caliber M-2 machine gun, surrounded the base. Infantry began manning the positions, as tanks, artillery, and attack helicopters stood ready for the next assault. Sensors were placed a few miles beyond that to provide advance warning of insurgant attacks.

Meanwhile, Bonstocknian intelligence officers began looking for any sign of the insurgancy's bases. Satellites, equipped with infrared as well as regular vision, began scanning the desert for insurgant bases and training areas. The 1st Infantry Division's Intelligence battalion began tuning into possible insurgant phone calls, and several people from the battalion began going to local people and collecting information about the insurgancy's locations. The Bonstocknians asked Laytaq to hand over the captured insurgants so that they could be interrogated. Several Pretator UAVs began flying about, looking for signs of insurgant bases.

One of the rockets hit a Bonstocknian fuel tanker, causing a massive explosion in the harbor of Al Iskandariyah, and an emergency for Bonstock; without fuel, Bonstock's armored vehicles were close to useless. The next tanker was a day away. If it were destroyed, Bonstock could well run out of fuel.

OOC: I did not say what I destroyed, I just said I fired rockets. And the boats are little speed boats shooting RPG's, not like battle cruisers. Bonstock understood.

IC: The speedboats began exploding as Bonstockia ships hit them. Two of the boats tore towards the frigates, attempting to ram them. The rest of speedboats fired their RPG's at the frigates, then most were hit by the frigate. The few survivors broke away and zipped into open water.

Another battalion located a small town that was under insurgant control near Al Iskandariyah. The fifty Bradleys formed four columns, and surrounded the town, cordoning off the exits. One of the columns rolled into the town, with the hundred or so infantrymen dismounting to fight the enemy. AH-64 helicopter gunships flew overhead to provide air support.

The training of new Latyaqi troops is proceding at an amazing rate. Latyaqi troops patroling the streets of Al Iskandariyah is an increasingly common site. The government can barely handle the number of volunteers who signed up to fight the insurgents. A common site at all barracks is the burning of portraits of Mohammad Al Libi, and troops training for their mission. Muslims and Christians alike pray for the rebels to be defeated. In Muslim neighborhoods, signs saying "الله أكبر" (Allah Akbar) is common. The implication of this is that God will bring victory to the rightous people that bear him in his hearts, and not the rebels that only give Muslims a bad name. The number of troops is expected to reach 70,000 by the end of the month.

The insurgent boats that sped towards the Bonstock ships hit them and exploded, while the others pulled up to a small fishing village, thinking that they were undetected.

In the city, more Latyaqi soldiers meant more victims. Snipers frequently opened fire from an apartment roof, then quickly dissassembled the gun and returned to their apartments, blending back into society. In a few instances, when Latyaqi troops entered the apartment building, mines in the lobby would explode, killing the men. Convoys were being ambushed constantly, and the heads of missing soldiers were often either being left on the side of the road, or mailed to the mens families. The rebels were getting increasingly violent, in hopes that they could scare the population into surrender.

You can land right at the dock. It is still in operation.

The Government has decided that it is lawful for the soldiers to kill insurgents. They know of the tactics of the insurgents that make taking prisoners unwise. All Latyaqis are ordered to kill anyone.

Meanwhile, in another part of the city, Latyaqi troops raided a warehouse. The warehouse had been occupied by the insurgents, and used to carry out their attacks. The raid was successful. All the insurgents were shot, and not taken prisoners by the Government's orders.

Elsewhere in the city, many snipers on top of buildings would come to the rude awakening that the occupants were newly trained Latyaqi policemen. Many were shot immediately.

There are now 50,000 troops in the Latyaqi Security Forces (LSF). The number of troops is right on schedule. It includes:

21,000 Infantry
11,000 Anti-Tank weapons
100 tanks (3 men each)
150 armored cars
5000 machine gunners (2 men each)
50 fighter planes
50 helicopters (2 men each)
total: about 50,000 men.

It is notable that they were unable to build the bomers, and had less fighters then they were able to build, but also had more Infantry and Anti Tanks then planned.

This was the target for this month. It was reached in 27 days (NS time).

The troops should reach 100,000 over the next 2 months. Hopefully, our allies can begin to withdraw, and security will be taken over by the LSF.

The generals are already making more plans to double the LSF's numbers.

With so many problems, Claudius Griffincrest decided it was due time for an intervention, corporate style. He quickly got to work writing a message to Latyaq.

From Claudius Griffincrest, CEO, Griffincrest Oil Inc
To Latyaqi leadership

We see that you are having problems with rebels, particularly in the eastern part of your nation. I think it is rather obvious that you picked the wrong ally, as is evident in their inability to prevent the massive civilian deaths that are occuring daily. In response to this, we have dispatched the Corporate Fleet, as well as an inderdiction force. The first elements should be parachuting in as we speak from Toopoxia, and the rest should probably arrive tommorow.

As this message was being sent, 1000 Griffincrest mercenaries were being paradropped into the Eastern region of Latyaq from their base in Toopoxia. The corporate army being sent, veterans of the Desert War with Hydac, collected the money from the last war, and happily hopped on transports heading back out to sea. The Chieftan class pocket battleship, the only large ship in the corporate fleet, set out acting as flagship, along with six Sovremenny destroyers, and twelve Laksamana class corvettes.

The first paratroopers immediately set about, setting up check points and entering rebel towns. Almost every town, the rebels did not fight, and handed in their weapons peacefully. Each rebel was reimbursed 1000$ for his gun. It was a rather peaceful transition to the Griffincrest soldiers. In Al Iskandariyah, it was anything but peaceful. Rockets continued to slam into the city. The death toll was continuing to rack up. Suicide bombings were common. Citizens feared staying at home, and were terrified to leavve their homes.

In the west, rebels frequently harrased convoys, and lit many towns on fire. The people there were begging Latyaq for increased security. Latyaqi soldiers here too, were turning up, with their heads in boxes along the road.

Tow corporate stealth ships appeared off the coast, and let out a few small boats of mercs, who drove into Latyaq, and set up a small camp on the shore. The rest of the army would be here soon.

As soon as the rockets landed, Bonstocknian counter-battery radars located where the rockets were fired from. Two dozen AH-64s were relocated to the launch sites imidiately, and began firing anti-personnel rockets and chain guns at the rocket launchers. A company of infantry in a dozen Bradleys sped over to secure the area.

Bonstocknian soldiers began patrolling Al Iskandariyah in their Abrams tanks and Bradley IFVs in small groups. AH-64s gunships were overhead to provide fire-support in case the insurgants attacked. Predator UAVs began patrolling around the outskirts of the Bonstocknian base and Al Iskandariyah, looking for rocket launchers and mortars, while F-35s loaded with precision guided munitions flew overhead, ready to attack any mortars.

Bonstocknian troops began erecting roadblocks on the major roads into Al Iskandariyah, in order to stop the flow of suicide bombers. Most were fairly austere; One soldier and a local interpreter would stand guard while all but one lane was blocked by several requisitioned local civilian vehicles. A platoon of infantry took cover in sight of each of these, with automatic weapons ready to fire at anyone that was approaching too close, too fast.

Unfortunately, the first customer approached in an ordinary looking Honda sedan with tinted windows. Despite a sign asking them to slow down, they didn't do so. The Bonstocknians, true to form, opened fire. A squad of soldiers went to investigate, and found the bullet-riddled bodies of Abdul the shopkeeper, his wife, and his three children in the car. But no bomb or weapons.

The incident was reported to the Bonstocknian HQ, but no public statement was released. Having located the small fishing village where the boats had come from, the 1st Battalion, 2nd Brigade, 1st Infantry Division, with nearly fifty Bradleys began approaching it. A company of tanks on an embankment provided cover as they entered the village, and artillery and helicopters were on standby to provide fire-support.

Most of the men who fired the Qassams fled quickly after firing. Nonetheless, a few were still killed. In the city, the tanks, without infantry support, made easy target. As they would pass by apartment complexes, men would wait until they were just below them, and then either drop a few HE grenades down, or open up on them with an RPG of Javelin. Bonstocknian infantry dismounted from their IFVs as the chainguns on the IFVs provided covering fire. The Bonstocknians ducked into alleyways and behind cover, and began shooting at any insurgants. Four Bonstocknians were hit by rebel bullets from unseen enemies. Two UH-60s were flown in to evacuate them, as other soldiers carried the wounded to a safe drop-zone. Still, the evacuation left them vulnerable to enemy fire. Bonstocknian soldiers jumped up and fired their M-4s at the insurgants to force them to take cover while the Bonstocknian stretcher bearers took away the wounded. But one unseen sniper managed to avoid being spotted by the Bonstocknians. Two of the medics were seriously wounded. A Bonstocknian soldier took a Javelin missile and fired it at the sniper's building, blowing it up. Bonstocknian medics then transported the wounded to the evacuation zone.

Seeing that the insurgants were being driven back, about half of the three-hundred odd Bonstocknian infantrymen took cover in building they cleared and began covering the other half as they advanced to secure other buildings. Soon the Bonstocknians began entering the town square near the local mosque, and took cover in alleyways as the other Bonstocknians advanced further. AH-64 gunships continued to provide close air support, and Bonstocknian tanks began firing from their far away position at the insurgant positions, targetting insurgant held buildings with 120mm HEAT warheads.

The Bonstocknian Apache chasing the speedboat was shot out of the sky instantly, killing its two crewmembers. A Predator UAV, flying in the clouds, continued to moniter the speedboat. It was then ordered to engage. The little UAV got between the sun and the speedboat, and swooped out of the clouds to fire two Hellfire missiles at the speedboat.

Bonstocknian IFVs began broadcasting propagada on loudspeakers, telling the insurgants that if they surrendered they would be given good treatment and soon released, and telling them that Bonstock would use its B-52s to blow up the town if they didn't surrender. Two Bonstocknian B-52s were dispatched from Bonstock to fly low over the town to scare the insurgants.

The UAV destroyed the boat. Bombs inside the boat blew it apart, assuring that nobody would ever know the identity of those onboard.

Seeing the B-52's, a group of about 10 insurgents surrendered. Still, others contiued to fight. An insurgent with an RPG saw the evacuation choppers, and opened fire on it. The mosque became a hive of activity. Gunfire poured out of the minarets, and Javelin and PRG fire flew out from the main gate to the compound.

One of the Bonstocknian soldiers looked at the insurgants, and aimed his M-4. "Don't shoot!" a Sergeant yelled. "They've got their hands up!"

"Fuckin' durka bitches!" the soldier yelled, and angrilly let them go. A squad of soldiers escorted the surrendering insurgants back to Bonstocknian lines, where they were loaded onto a UH-60.

Bonstocknian snipers saw the insurgants with the RPGs, and shot at them, but not before the RPG blew up a Bonstocknian UH-60 as they were loading up a wounded soldier. Three Bonstocknians were killed. Two IFVs soon located the RPG gunner, and doused him with 40mm chain gun fire.

Bonstocknian soldiers began taking fire from the mosque.

"Holy fuck, those fuckin' durkas are shootin from the mosque!" a soldier shouted as he ducked behind a car.

"We can't shoot the mosque. It's a holy site."

"Holy fuck what else do we do?"

Meanwhile, as one of the battalion's companies stayed put to pin down the insurgants in the mosque, the other two walked alongside their Bradleys as they fought their way through the streets around the mosque, to surround the mosque. It was figured that the insurgants if surrounded would eventually run out of ammunition, and would be forced to surrender.

The prisoners were soon brought back to the Bonstocknian base. Military intelligence personnel began interrogating them. Two of them were brought into a dark room.

The interogator began. "Where is the insurgant base? Who is the leader, and where is he? How many insurgants are there?"

The two captives didn't say a word. One of them spat at the interrogator. The interrogator pulled out a 9mm Berretta pistol, and blew the prisoner's brains out right in front of the other one. "Now," the interrogator began, "Answer my questions."

Meanwhile, the Bonstocknians in the village began to run out of ammunition themselves. A convoy of supply trucks entered the position outside the town where tanks were firing on insurgant houses. Several Bradleys withdrew from the fighting, and took on ammunition and fuel, as well as water for the troops. Then they drove back into combat, and Bonstocknian soldiers ran to get more ammunition from them. However, doing this exposed them to fire, and despite the 30mm chain gun on the IFV providing covering fire, two Bonstocknians were wounded while recieving ammunition. Still, the Bonstocknians were well supplied for continued combat as night began to fall on the bullet riddled village.

A convoy of a dozen supply ships entered the Al Iskandariyah harbor, loaded with supplies to last the Bonstocknian division a month. The Bonstocknian Perry frigates continued to escort them, in case the insurgants tried anything funny with boats again.

The insurgents in the mosque had forgot about the ammo situation. They had ammo, but they were rapidly eating through their supply, and would probably be out by morning. Instead of surrendering, they decided to go out with a bang. Quickly, they unloaded their weapons at anything they saw beneath them. After about an hour of emptying their weapons at everything they saw, destroying much of the surrounding area in the process, they all yelled "ALLAH AKBAR" and suddenly, a lound bang. A cloud of Lewisite enveloped the mosque, and spread throughout the town. All of the rebels were dead.

22-06-2006, 21:17
The Bonstocknians could at least claim that they hand't committed any warcrimes that day, that it was the insurgants who did it, not the Bonstocknians. The town was quickly secured by Bonstocknian forces, and civilians in the town were given supplies while Bonstocknian engineers began to reconstruct the town.

But the nightly news was not good in Bonstock. "Eleven Bonstocknians were killed taking a town from Laytaq insurgants, as four other Bonstocknians were killed in random violence across the country." Images soon went to those of dead and wounded Bonstocknians in the town. Public outcry was swift. Thousands demonstrated in the streets of the Bonstocknian capital of Port Yuko, and several prominant Senators called for an end to the war.

All the military could do was keep on fighting and dying. More towns would need to be taken, and more Bonstocknian boys would need to die, before the insurgancy could finally be quelled. Morale among Bonstocknian ranks began to slip, as many realized this war might go on a long time.

22-06-2006, 21:23
As much as taking the town had bled the Bonstocknians, nightfall meant that Bonstock would have to secure Al Iskandariyah. Two battalions of Bonstocknian tanks, nearly a hundred in total, first surrounded the city, cordoning it off from insurgant resupply using more roadblocks.

Bonstocknian infantry, supported by their IFVs, then began to enter the town, with AH-64s flying overhead to provide firesupport. Bonstocknian soldiers, with night vision goggles, began clearing houses on the outskirts of town. Local civilians were asked to tell where the insurgants were.

As an AH-64 flew over a section of the city, a stinger locked on and tore into the night sky. That was the signal. Around the city, IED's and RPG's exploded in the night. AK and G36E fire was heard crackling all around Al Iskandariyah. Another local police station was quickly seized. It became outfitted with M60 and RPK's out of the window, and RPG troopers on the roof. In the station, about 50 rebels made residence. They all had nightvision, and some had infa-red. Outside, one went about setting up claymores.

The radio crackled on an Apache helicopter. "Alpha Bravo niner-four making target run over... Holy shit! Mayday, mayday, she's breakin' up! She's breakin' up!"

The Apache crashed into a street, but the men inside survived. "Alpha Bravo niner-four to base, have hit the dirt, in need of medevac ASAP!"

Gunfire and explosions were happening all over. Four Bonstocknians were killed in the crossfire, and eight wounded. Meanwhile, a Bonstocknian mechanized platoon got new orders.

"Second platoon, on me!" the lieutenant said from the back of his IFV as insurgant gunfire could be heard in the distance. "HQ has got a mission for us. Two Bonstocknian pilots just got shot down deep inside town. It's our mission to rescue them before the insurgants get to them. Load into you're IFVs, let's get going." The soldiers loaded into their four Bradleys, and went off at top speed towards the downed pilots.

Meanwhile, a mechanized company with a dozen Bradleys began rushing towards the police station. It was their mission to sieze the station back. Any insurgants seen along the way would be dealt with using the IFV's chain guns.

Meanwhile, an entire mechanized battalion was entrenched at the seaport, holding open the lines of supplies for the Bonstocknians. If the port fell, Bonstock would be in a fairly bad position. Fifty IFVs and a few hundred Bonstocknian boys were all that stood in the way.

At the Bonstocknian airbase, a flight of four AC-130 Spooky attack planes landed, and were fueled and armed. Soon, they would be sent for their first mission, against the insurgant strongholds.

A Blackhawk helicopter clattered onto the makeshift landing pad constructed outside Al Iskandariyah. A small man in a black uniform stepped out and scowled at the lieutenant sent to meet him. ‘Good evening Commissar’ The commissar ignored him and looked around at the unfamiliar surroundings. ‘Commissar?’
‘Where is General Thielmann’s command tent?’ asked the commissar suddenly
‘Err… over there’ said the lieutenant pointing at a large tent. And the commissar walked off.

A Toyota truck quickly sped to the crash site. Two men hopped out, and rushed to the chopper to find the pilots.

At the police station, as soon as the Bradleys were spotted, RPG and Javelin fire erupted from the station in their direction. IED's also began exploding when the vehicles came within a few blocks of the station.

At the seaport, a group of Toyotas, about twenty of them, armed with .50 cal machine guns, automatic grenade launchers, or RPG's, sped at the IFV's. Behind them, a large group of rebels surged forward, firing away with AK's and RPG's

Two more Apaches, flying overhead and with flares at ready to distract Stingers, flew in over the crash site and began engaging the pick-ups. Hopefully, under cover of darkness, they wouldn't be seen, and thus couldn't be fired at. The four IFVs began approaching the crash site.

Meanwhile, as the Bonstocknian armored column got towards the police station, a Javelin missile slammed into the lead Bradley, killing all nine of the soldiers inside. Bonstocknian soldiers, nearly a hundred of them, got out of their IFVs, and began taking whatever cover they could find as the remaining eleven IFVs began firing 30mm chain guns at the police station. One of the AC-130s took off, and flew over the station.

"We need air support!" A soldier shouted into his radio.

"Copy. Nightghost 1 engaging target Tango Delta forty niner."

The AC-130 opened up on the police station with its two 20mm guns, its 40mm gun, and its 105mm howitzer.

Meanwhile, at the port, Bonstocknian IFVs fired their chain guns and infantry fired their M-4s and M-249s at the incoming trucks. The infantry, behind baracades, began firing at the incoming insurgant infantrymen, aided by their night vision goggles. Six Apaches flew in, and began laying down rocket and chain gun fire at the incoming insurgants. A company of a dozen Bonstocknian tanks began appraoching to help relieve the seaport.

At the police station, a withering amount of fire was being thrown out of the police station ass all of the guns opened up at once. At the crash site, four men quickly went out with RPG's to distract the IFV's, while another fired stingers from a seperate truck, which started driving away. A ilot was loaded into each truck, and the two vehicles sped off in different directions.

At the seaport, the rebels were taking huge casualties, but kept charging. They were now beginnimg to throw in grenades, and most of the Toyotas that were not blown up got close up to the Bonstockians. Although there were only 5, they still let out an impressive amount of fire.

The Bonstocknians quickly moved in to sieze the police station, or what was left of it. With the awesome firepower levelled against it it was no wonder the insurgants lost. But Bonstock still had other concerns.

At the seaport, soldiers desperately continued firing at the Toyotas. Grenades started falling everywhere. Five Bonstocknian soldiers were seriously wounded, and two were killed. They fell back to their second line of barracades, leaving mines and barbed wire obstacles in front of them. Machine gunners began opening up on the insurgant charge. Two UH-60 Blackhawks orbiting over the bay flew in to evacuate the wounded to a hospital ship offshore.

The platoon of IFVs reached the location of the downed pilots, and began firing on the Toyotas that hadn't been supressed by overhead Apaches.

It looked as if Bonstock would prevail. But at what cost?
Blackhelm Confederacy
22-06-2006, 22:54
The Toyotas with the captured pilots began speeding through the city, and one went into an abandoned ware house. The other kept driving.

At the seaport, the remaining Toyotas were destroyed. The insurgents had mortar fire supporting them, but it was only light fire. The rebels were being mowed down, but kept coming, lobbing grenades and firing AK's and RPG's. Nearly 80 rebels were dead. Around 200 were still coming.
Bonstock
22-06-2006, 23:01
Bonstocknian soldiers continued firing from their barracades, supported by their IFVs. Two more were killed by a mortar shell. Hopefully, though, the barbed wire and mines would slow the insurgants down and make them easy targets for Bonstocknian machine guns.

Despite the fact that the area was heavily built up, the Bonstocknian commander found it necessary to use his own mortars. Six M-113s, mounting 120mm mortars, began firing at the incoming insurgants.

Another Pretator UAV was overhead, and spotted the Toyota with the captured pilot. At the Bonstocknian base, four UH-60s were loaded with a platoon of troops, and took off towards the city. When the pickup came to a halt, the Bonstocknian choppers swarmed in, and the forty or so soldiers rappelled downward to rescue the pilots.

Patrols of Bonstocknian IFVs with infantry dismounted alongside began charging at the insurgants who were advancing on the seaport from behind, hoping to eliminate them entirely. Loudspeakers mounted on them broadcasted more propaganda, promising certain death to those who continued to resist the Bonstocknians.
Blackhelm Confederacy

At the seaport, the rebels finally broke, and ran, tossing away their weapons.

The pick up stopped. It only had one of the captured pilots, the other went to the abandoned warehouse. With a shout of "ALLAH AKBAR!" the truck gunned it toward a soldier in front of him.
Bonstock
22-06-2006, 23:12
The soldier dove out of the way, and shot out the tires and at the engine to immobilize the pickup. Once it had stopped, a Bonstocknian soldier aimed his M-4 to snipe off the driver so that the Bonstocknians could secure their pilot.

Bonstocknian intelligence personnel looked back at the recorded images sent by the UAV, and determined that the other pilot was in a warehouse. The Bonstocknian platoon originally detailed to rescue the pilots loaded into their IFVs and rushed to save the pilot.

Bonstocknian soldiers began following the insurgants. Predator UAVs began tracking them, hunting them back to their bases. Bonstocknian soldiers fired at them repeatedly, and IFVs chased them and mowed them down with chain gun fire. Apache helicopters joined in for the killing fest. The more dead insurgants, the better.

The Bonstocknian Headquarters advised Laytaq authorities to declare martial law in the area and impose a twenty-four hour a day cerfew for the next day so that the job of hunting the remaining insurgants could be accomplished.

A number of rebels turned and exploded. More surrendered. At the warehouse, the Bonstockian pilot was forced to his knees, and put on a video tape, were the rebels threatened to kill him unless Bonstock pulled out. They then turned off the tape, and opened a secret compartment, leading to a passageway to the sewer. Before going, a rebel set up a tripwire. The first soldier to enter would set off a huge bomb, destroying the warehouse and dousing the men outside in flames.

Message from Griffincrest Head of Security to Latyaq

Griffincrest mercenaries have taken control of a large portion of the rebel stronhold in the east, with minimal casualties to either side. I believe it is rather obvious that your nation allied with the wrong side. We have plans to remain here for awhile. We have begun constructing an airbase, and Gnat fighters are en route. Also, the corporate fleet wishes to stay in the port at Al Iskandariyah until we deem the threat over. We have set up numerous military posts around the countryside as well, and have instituted martial law. We ask that, for obvious security reasons, all other soldiers pull out of the area as our security forces continue to gain ground. Thank You.

In order to counter the infantry, M60 and RPK nests were set up, and the rebels began using Javelin anti-tank weapons more often. The rebels had taken control of large portions of Latyaq east of the capitol, and they were also felt in the west, to a lesser extent. The infantry protecting the convoys were now also covered by snipers and helicopters that would attack any enemy position that they came across. As well, to answer the spread of the insurgency two legions (10,000 soldiers) were now sent to the east to fight the rebels. The soldiers sent to the east also brought with them a legion of armored vehicles.

The Bonstocknian troops, of course, rushed into the trap. The building exploded, and ten Bonstocknians were instantly killed.

UH-60s flew in to evacuate the wounded, and Bonstocknian armored vehicles rushed in to cordon off the area and prevent the escape of any insurgants. The sewers, though, no one quite thought about those. The one thing that would help the pilot was the GPS tracker in his uniform, standard for all Bonstocknian pilots for in case they got shot down. The troops on the ground, though, had no way of finding his signal; only a higher headquarters had access to it.

Bonstocknian troops were soon patrolling around Al Iskandariyah, conducting mop-up operations as dawn broke and the sun rose. But as average Bonstocknians woke up and saw their morning papers, they saw pictures of the captured Bonstocknian pilot, along with news that over thirty Bonstocknians had died in various fights around Laytaq. The rebels have used Lewisite on our citizens, and that has a tremendous negative effect on the people's opinions of the rebels. If we use chemical weapons, we would only be seen as being just as bad as them. Furthermore, the use of such chemicals in the air or in the water would kill more of our citizens then rebels. Furthermore, if we put them in the water supply, it has a greater negative effect on Latyaqi citizens (and soldiers, they drink the water too) then the insurgents. We would, however, be more then grateful for conventional help. It is your choice whether to send aid or not.

Then, the signal. A call, hang up, then a call again, two rings, hang up. They left, the remote hidden in their pockets. When they were on the other side of the street, the building exploded. Mustard gas squirted in all directions, hitting people and turning to gas. The soldiers, three in number, ran. They acted like everyone else: running, screaming, scared. They went back ten minutes later, police all over. They opened fire, lobbing grenades. "FREEDDOM!!!" they shouted.

The corporate fleet pulled into the port at Al Iskandariyah. A few sailors came ashore to see what was going on. In eastern Latyaq, the corporate soldiers consolidated their position, and began setting up fire bases around their area of control. Mi-24 choppers also began coming into the airbase they constructed. An SA-11 was brought in to guard the base. A column of Mercury's went over to the foreign convoy. The commander of the group approached the leader of the Scandinavian group. "This area is pretty clear. We have it under control. No reason for your boys to be here. Never know when an IED we missed might go off and get some of your boys killed now, do ya?"

Suicide bombings and other attacks began to die down alittle, but attacks on convoys outside the city were still just as frequent. Under the city, the rebels, after beating the pilot for information, took his clothes off, and changed him into the garb of an Arab woman, with his face completely covered, and mouth taped under the wrap, so he could b transported again, to a different safehouse in eastern Latyaq. He was taken out of the sewer, and put into a van. They had all of the proper papers, and were soon out of the city at a nearby village, 5 miles away from the Corporate controlled zone.

The General has also told me to only listen to only listen to his commands and to only heed the Latyaqi leadership. In short we will continue our predetermined patrol route and make the way clear for the other convoys and legions.”

The legions under the command of General Olaf established a base of command and began the main part of their offensive and began the push into the outskirts of the towns and villages in the Latyaq countryside.

Yet another Katyusha showed itself, and 36 rockets flew from it at the offending troops. Stingers were fired at choppers as they came. Snipers hit stray soldiers. IFV's and tanks were quickly targeted by Javelins.

IC: The Latyaqi army bought 2 Katyusha rocket launcher artillery from the weapons market. Both were trusted to a small group of 10 soldiers. Although they were under orders not to attack targets liable to contain civilians, when those soldiers reached a village they used thos Katyushas. They first ordered the rebels to surrender, but they refused, so they launched both Katyushas. The rockets slamed into the village, and hit many civilians. Rebels and civvies alike panicked and fled. The Corporate relief team soon rolled into the village.Seeing the corporate vehicles, many of the rebels opened up with their weapons, then fled. Others fired at Scandinavian choppers, only to be picked off by Griffincrest snipers just after firing. The leader of the mercenary relief group, Capt. Copperblade, approached the Scandinavians. "Lets go men, gather your dead, and there seems like a lot of em, and lets go home." As he spoke, mercenaries began putting dead soldiers in a Humvee. Off in the rubble of a house, another video was made of a small pile of Scandinavian dead, as well as the rubble of the town, and civilian killed by a Scandinavian bombing. This video, like the others was sent to the media around the world. Capt. Copperblade radioed the mercenary commander with the Scandinavian soldiers.

"Well, buddy, looks like its your lucky day. Your boys are en route back here. Now you make nice, and head back to your humvee, and your men should be here anytime soon" the commander said

The captured Scandinavian was also put on video, kneeling before a group of masked gunmen, who demanded that all foreign soldiers pull out of Latyaq, or else both he, and the Bonstockian pilot will be killed. Also, because the Scandinavians are the leading troop supplier, their man will be killed within two hours, unless they release all captured rebels.

Every Latyaqi victory would not last too long. Hours after Latyaqi security forces would secure a town, the rebels whom recently retreated would return, and the Latyaqi troops would resecure the town, leading to an endless, bloody cycle.

As frustrating as the rebels' hit and run tactics were, their victories rarely lasted long. The people supported the army, and would help the soldiers dig in, and help the soldiers in any way they could. The terorists did not enjoy these benefits. If they tried to return, helicopters would warn the Latyaqi troops ahead of time, and if they send in trucks with machine guners on top, Latyaqi RPGs would take them out. IEDs continued to take heavy tolls, especially tanks, however. Desperate attacks increased, causing much damage to civilians, soldiers, and property.

OOC: I figured soldiers would be around somewhere and gunmen would get shot before the full effect.

Outside of a Latyaqi base, a Katyusha, once again described as a civilian truck until the cover was thrown off, opened up. Men surged to the base, screaming for revenge. Grenades were lobbed into machine gun nest, and A toyota truck broke through the front gate, peppering soldiers with .50 cal fire as they scrambled out of their barracks, many of them not even fully dressed. Behind the Katyusha, mortar fire opened up, and 6 mortars layed shells down on the base.

Many of the soldiers were taken by surprise and massacred. Only a few made it to their guns. They tried to shot back, but at little gain. While they were being massacred, one soldier phoned for reinforcements.

40 soldiers, 5 of them with RPGs would soon arrive.

The reinforcements just reached the base. They found the troops with Katyushas and Toyotas. The RPG infantry aimed for the Toyota, and about 5 of the RPGs colided with the toyota. A gun battle continued between the Latyaqis and defending rebels.

Announcment From The Griffincrest Corporation

The Griffincrest Corporation is very pleased to announce that after recent intervention by our Security Force into eastern Latyaq, rebel activity in the area has gone down by 85%. With this good news abound. The Griffincrest Corporation asks the Latyaqi government to allow the GSF forces into the capitol at Al Iskandariyah, so that they can assist in quelling the rebellion there as well. Griffincrest ships are already in the port, and feel it best to have Griffincrest forces defending the port as well.

Very well. You are allowed to let 10,000 troops in the capital. Considering the capitals population is about 400,000 it is alot. We are almost done mopping up insurgents around Al Iskandariyah, so It is about time we begin dealing with the trapped pockets of troops in the city.

Griffincrest mercenaries quickly went about the city, securing the major marketplace, mosque, church, port, and a few government buildings. The presence of the mercenaries should free up Latyaqi and other foreign soldiers to be able to go out and fight elsewhere.

Elsewhere...

Rebels continued to assault Latyaqi military bases, mostly with mortars and Qassams. At a line to sign up for the military, in a different city, a suicide bomber detonated a massive carbomb, followed by bombs set off by two men standing in line. As ambulances rushed to the scene, IED's went off, tossing the vehicles into the air. During the chaos, a band of masked men with AK's began firing on people all around a busy market place. The local police station fell under seige, as about 45 men began opening fire, keeping the police confined to the structure. The lead administrative building was hit by rockets, as a group of rebels attempted to storm it. Outside the city, rebels, wearing captured Latyaqi army suits, set up roadblocks, and did not let anyone into the city. A group of people on their way to work at a nearby army base were taken from their vehicle, and driven to a safehouse in a small town a few miles away.

The city they were attacking happened to be Umm Qairan, the 6th largest city with a population of 10,000. The Latyaqis were incapabel of sending reinforcements yet, so they had to let the people fight for themselves. The local Police and LSF went to the street cautiously. There were 310 police and 240 LSF in the city, and 40 of the LSF had RPGs. There was no tank or air support.

edit: meanwhile, west of Al Iskandariyah, 2 pincers were within miles of closing, which would trap pockets of rebels in the city.

The rebels began tossing molotov cocktails through the windows of the police precinct. Men ran from the building on fire, only to be gunned down in the street outside. Eight men, dressed in LSF uniforms, approached a group of actual LSF soldiers, saying that they were in a nearby patrol and heard the explosions. They got close to each other, when suddenly, they opened fire at close range on the real LSF, and one dove ahead and exploded. Toyotas zipped around the city, spraying police and soldiers alike. More people were being kidnapped at the roadblock, their cars going to be used for more bombings.

Images of the Scandinavian soldier, Bonstockian pilot, burning villages, mass graves, heads in boxes, decapitated bodies along roads, IED attacks, dead soldiers from foreign lands, and Latyaqi forces dying in battle, and men chanting "foreigners go home!" all of these would effect people.

Suicide bombs continued to rock Latyaq. A camera pans across the desert. In the distance, oil fields were burning. Results of attack from rebel mortars. People had to ask themselves, "Is Latyaq really worth it. If these rebels are that desperate, is the Latyaqi government doing something we don't see? What would happen if the government was to step down, or at least grant co-rulership to Al-Libi? People of the Confederacy, and the world, ask yourselves these questions. The Chinese military has about 2million people, and has a hard time holding up that. The US has i believe 250k, not a million. If you are talking about like WW2, thats different, and we sustained that onlybecause it was temporary and everything went to the army. We would have been unable to sustain that size of an army for any more than a decade.

OOC: Nice, Confederacy.

IC:
With the central governemnt building devastated and the government is some toil, the Hayord rebels looked elsewhere. Elsewhere, just as 'up there'.

The rebels hide cars in garages, wired with bombs, with mustard gas. They left, and headed for the central business buildings. Any buildings not devastated by these attacked would, in fact, be devastated.

How? Over-consuming. Too many people, not enough products.

Thirteen cars, five buildings. The tallest building, the most commercially-used building, and three more importent buildings. The passengers were armed with Uzis, 9 millimeters. They fired at cars, causing pile-ups on roads, shooting police. If the cars could not reach their target, they detonated.

One car was driving for a simple business building, driving via the highway. They suddenly pulled off the side of the road, people unsuspecting as nothing had happened around the car, and the car crashed into its target. It detonated, the middle of the building collasping, destroying the whole thing. It crashed on the highway, causing mass traffic.

Three other buildings were struck, and the last car had made a detour. At another highway, the bombs went wrong. They were pulling off and the bombs detonated, the supports and ramp destroyed. The highway was destroyed, causing more traffic.

The rebels were rejoicing.

OOC: quite the thought out attack, I can use the traffic

In all of the chaos after the Hayord attack, even more congestion was created on the roads to Al Iskandariyah. A van, somewhere near the middle of the massive traffic jam, suddenly had its doors swing open, and four men jumped out. Each man carried a Colt .45, and went car to car, killing everyone inside. Once the men were a reasonable distance away, the van exploded, killing any who survived the bullets. The highway was utter chaos.

OOC: It is common in NS, but we are trying to keep it small

Also, because the Scandinavians are the leading troop supplier, their man will be killed within two hours, unless they release all captured rebels.OOC: For example if I wanted to I could field an army of many millions in Latyaq, but that would not be a good idea as the local area would not be able to sustain such a large force and I would be forced to supply them entirely myself.

IC: The Scandinvan commander sheathed his blade and then said,” My men will withdraw when our dead fellows are allowed to be given their proper funerary rights. As well, when the last of my soldiers is given back to me.”

The Scandinvan government and media denounced the video because it had been made and supplied by a terrorist organization.

When the news a Scandinvan had been captured the Empire issued a decree of holding the soldiers with a death threat under them was barbaric. As well, the Empire sternly refused to withdraw her soldiers in Latayaq.

The Humvees and survivng Scandinavian convoy had come to where the two forces had met. The mercenary said "There you go. That should be all of them. I hope to see you in Al Iskandariyah." before moving back to his vehicle.

In a small town, another video was made. "For the Scandinavians utter refusal to withdraw or release our prisoners, your soldier will have to pay with his life." A masked man said. The camera then went over to a man, beaten badly, and missing two fingers, kneeling in a corner. The speaker drew a sword, and decapitated him, and waved the head around as others cheered.

Hours later, the headless body would turn up along the side of a highway. The head was mailed to the Scandinavian embassy.

IC: The Scandinvan commander bowed his head in thanks and then orders his men and medic to tend to their comrades that had just been brought back both dead and alive. When all had been prepared the legions moved out and left the corporate area of control.

OOC: I am assuming the dead soldiers have been returned to me?

IC: In response to this atrocity a recently captured rebel was brought before a High Imperial trail commission so as to show the way that civilize people performed justice. Within a few hours the trial had ended and the rebel declared guilty on a number of charges. His sentence was to spend the rest of life in an Imperial high security prison in a cell with a big scary guy named Mary.

The embassy finding the head and an Imperial patrol finding the headless body were able to reassemble their severed body parts by putting them in a coffin. And after giving the man the proper Scandinvan funerary rights set his body aflame as was the custom for the Imperial army when fighting a war far away from home so that his ashes may ride upon the wind to the land and return to the land of his birth.

Bonstocknian soldiers continue to interrogate prisoners captured in the assaults on the fishing village and Al Iskandariyah, hoping to find more rebel bases. To further help, at least 50 Predator UAVs start scouring the countryside looking for any trace of the insurgancy.

ooc: yeah, China has two or three million in their army, and the US has about 1.5 million active, but the vast majority of those are support troops, and most nations can't deploy a majority of their forces overseas. For example, the US military has got about 150,000 guys in Iraq, out of 1.5 million active troops total, and we're still talking about a shortage of troops. China probably can't send more then a division's worth of troops to Taiwan, let alone some godforsaken country ten thousand miles away from it. It would be a massive undertaking to deploy 2 million men, even for a nation of a few billion. Had Hataria or whoever deployed 2 million troops, but differentiated between combat and support troops, gave actual units, and told how the troops and their equipment were getting to the country, it would have been far more realistic and would have been accepted.

There were right now 10,000 Latyaqi troops inside Al Iskandariyah, and 20,000 troops around the city. Half of the troops outside of the city were sent into Al Iskandariyah, doubling the amount of LSF in the city. It was time for them to take out those little pockets of rebel held territory there.

The trucks pulled up to a dirty, unpaved runway, and unloaded their cargo. The planes were assembled quickly, and five barely trained pilots were sent to them. The runway was heavily defended with stingers, and following advise from the Griffincrest mercenary advisors, two fighters were in the air at all times.
