The Ministry of Defense of the Kingdom of the Bautizan Islands is considering the possibility of placing an order with the Royal Shipyards of Isselmere-Nieland. Before placing this order however we wish to inquire as to the price of the Morrigan class CGN; your storefront lists the price as $1.8 million, but the more detailed information section of your arms catalog lists the price as $1.6 million.

We would appreciate clarification on this matter.

Your Excellency,

My humblest apologies for the delay in replying as well as the confusion regarding the cost of the Morrígan class nuclear powered cruiser. The proper cost of the vessel is $1.8 billion, rather than the $1.6 billion previously recorded. Once more, I apologise for the confusion.

To the Kingdom of the Bautizan Islands, my sincere apologies for the delay in replying and for the brevity of this response. Your order has been confirmed as of one NS hour from its sending/being received. With respect to the Bailie-class destroyer tender, the proposed class has been placed on hold pending revisions to the existing classes of replenishment vessels that may make the Bailie class redundant. My apologies to the exceeding delay in producing those changes as well as any statement with regard to the Bailie and other proposed classes.

My apologies to you both for the brevity of these replies.

Yanitaria, your order has been approved. With respect to installing 762mm tubes instead of the existing 585/533mm or 650mm tubes on the submarines, it would require extensive modifications (including lengthening the torpedo magazine and loading sections to accommodate the larger weapons) such that the resulting submarines would be an entirely new design. My apologies for any inconvenience this might cause.

Trivalvia, your order has been approved.

To: Neville Colwan, Director-General, Royal Shipyards
From: Sir Patrick Joyner III, KCVO, Minister of Defense, Kingdom of the Bautizan Islands
Subject: Purchase of Naval Vessels / Private Contract

The Kingdom of the Bautizan Islands, entirely satisfied to date with the vessels that were purchased (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=13334626&postcount=506) some time ago from the Royal Shipyards of Isselmere-Nieland, would like to proceed with a second order to expand its naval forces in light of the possibility of increasing commitments overseas. Therefore we would like to purchase the following units from your arms catalog:

3 Coastal Defense Batteries ($2,739,600,000)
5 Hobbes class hospital ships ($14,100,000,000)
5 General Marsden class personnel transports ($2,000,000,000)
4 Sea Lion class patrol command boats ($1,100,000,000)

For a total of $19,939,600,000, payable immediately upon confirmation of this order. In addition the Ministry is also interested in commissioning the Royal Shipyards of Isselmere-Nieland to produce a private design for the Royal Bautizan Navy's Maritime Sealift Command. Would the shipyards be interested in such a contract?

From the desk of Peter Boothby, international trade advisor to the House of Boothby.

To whom it may concern,
The House of Boothby has founded a new corporate enterprise, Coastal and Maritime Securities (CMS). We hope to offer private shipping firms and governments services that include onboard and escort security teams for there international shipping vessels and routes.

I am writing to inquire as to what vessel or vessels you could supply CMS. Our needs are as follows;
1.) Vessel should require minimal numbers to operate (preferably 5 or fewer crew men).
2.) Vessel should be capable of transoceanic voyage.
3.) Vessel should have a maximum occupancy over 10 or more.
4.) Vessel should be supplied with or capable of being fitted with mounted weaponry.
5.) Maximum speed should exceed at-least 30 knots in optimum conditions.

Please respond if you feel your fleet has the vessel or vessels necessary to fill these requirements. We look forwards to hearing from you.

We are currently revamping our navy, and wish to commission the Royal Shipyards to provide us with all of our battleships, cruisers, and escort ships. We require ships for support of 8 carrier groups, and are willing to pay an extra 100 billion USD bonus as well as the cost of the necessary ships. CLASSIFIED//NO FOREIGN RELEASE

To: Neville Colwan, Director-General, Royal Shipyards
From: Sir Patrick Joyner III, KCVO, Minister of Defense, Kingdom of the Bautizan Islands
Subject: Private Contract

To the Kingdom of Bautizan Islands, your order has been approved. The Royal Shipyards would be interested in producing a vessel for your navy's Maritime Sealift Command, as well.

There appears to have been a clerical error within the Ministry in regards to our earlier proposal of a private contract with the Royal Shipyards of Isselmere-Nieland. (It appears that some erroneous calculations were done at a lower level regarding square footage in cargo space aboard the Gabin class vehicle transport, which led to the private design proposal.) With this error resolved the Kingdom of the Bautizan Islands would like to purchase 40 Gabin vehicle transports from the Royal Shipyards of Isselmere-Nieland, modified to accommodate helicopter pads without support facilities for emergency use.

Separately we are also interested in acquiring domestic production rights for the modified ships for a production run of approximately 50 vessels, to be built at Bautizan shipyards. The Kingdom would also be willing to pay extra in order to modify the domestically-produced vessels to carry Bautizan-designed defensive systems and electronics in place of the Isselmere-Nieland ones specified on the current design.

I look forward to further discussion on this matter.

Sincerely Yours,
Sir Patrick Joyner III, KCVO

Apologies for the brevity of these replies.

To the Kingdom of the Bautizan Islands, the Royal Shipyards no longer issues domestic production rights (DPRs) for its designs. If, however, you wish to establish a satellite yard in your nation for local production, that could be arranged. As for equipping the ships with Bautizan designed weapons and systems, that would not be an issue.

To the Principality of Damirez, there is not presently an arsenal ship in the Royal Shipyards catalogue, but one can be designed for service (it will take perhaps a RL week for the initial design), and at present, both the Sedna-class AGBN and Bailie-class AD designs are on hold. My apologies.

Should either of you have any questions, please feel free to TG me.

By the Motions;

It is with great happiness that I turn again to the fine services of the Royal Shipyards. Your previous service was exemplary, and it is with pride that the ships of your yards lead the fleets of the Snefaldian navy.

On this occasion, however, I am (quite unfortunately) not placing an order for ships or weapons. We would like to establish satellite yards of the Royal Shipyards in Snefaldia proper, specifically in the port city of Taxilha and in the Fuschal Islands in the Bay of Fuschal.

Taxilha, as the largest city in Snefaldia and the commercial hub of the nation, would serve as an excellent location for a shipyard as it is already a deep-water port with a sizeable workforce. The island of Obom in the Bay of Fuschal is also in suitably deep waters, and the proximity to the Isla Breda Naval Anchorage of the Snefaldian NAvy would ensure safety and the ability for more sensitive projects to be complete away from prying eyes.

The Centralized Mountain States would be honored to be connected with such a prestigious institution as the Royal Shipyards. Please direct you response and further communication to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Sargedain, Snefaldia.

Mr. Colwan,

Your letter has been recieved most happily by my government, and the Tuhran Bel is glad to have the good name of the Royal Shipyards attached to Snefaldia's commercial and labour interests. I am personally pleased at your decision to begin business in the Centralized Mountain States, as is Minister Horânyi.

As per Snefaldian law, I am required to inform you of the various labour and incorporation laws of the country, the details which are enclosed. The creation of a Royal Shipyards- Snefaldia entity fulfills the incorporation requirement.

The Bel has, however, given me a request regarding the titles of the future shipyards- though your suggestions are infinitely acceptable, my superiors have a more... lofty view of what the names should be, and have provided me with these alternates- for the Taxilhan yards, they have proposed "Port City Shipyards (RS)", from the English translation of the word Taxilha, and for the yards in the bay they have provided me with Obom Fleet Yards. They are, however, open to further suggestions. I am sure I do not need to explain to you the peculiarities of high government officials.

If there are any further questions, I would be happy to answer. The relevant business documents and forms can be found with the Ministry of Commerce and Ministry of the Treasury, addresses enclosed. Thank you very much for your attention, Snefaldia looks forward to your involvement here.

Hawdawg, for a basic 24"/610 mm AP shell (3842 kg), with a muzzle velocity of about 850 m/s (assuming conventional as opposed to ETC ignition), I get a range of about 45.3 km, but an extended range projectile could at the least triple or possibly quadruple that range. Mind, it's been a while since I've done the original calculations and I seem to have misplaced my original results.

Mind, it's been a while since I've done the original calculations and I seem to have misplaced my original results.

Thanks for the information, I have it tucked away in a safe place.

Apologies for the lateness and brevity of this reply.

The Ryou Black Islands, Greal, and Vandaheim, your orders have been confirmed.

Vandaheim, it would be possible to build nuclear versions of the Province and Duchy classes, but the cost for each would be substantially greater than the present cost (i.e., about 25-40% more; I haven't done the precise pricing as of yet) and would require more crew to maintain the reactor systems.

Thank you all for your orders, and again, apologies for the lateness of this reply.

Mr Neville Colwan,
Director-General, Royal Shipyards
The United Kingdom of Isselmere-Nieland

Dear Mr Colwan,

I am writing to you in my position as Secretary-General of the Independent Red Crystal Organisation to express my organisation's interest in acquiring a single Hobbes-class hospital ship with certain modifications, described below. In order that we might make adequate financial provision, I would very much like to have a final price to put before prospective donors and the financial directors.

The addition of one of these vessels will represent a doubling of our current hospital ship capacity and shall be a significant boost to both our long-term prevention and general healthcare program and our disaster relief efforts; I am therefore very eager to move this procurement along and shall take a personal interest in its negotiation.

Yours sincerely,

Dr Alexander Robinson

Requested Modifications
To minimise costs and in recognition of our neutral status, the IRCO does not require AAW or countermeasure weapons, or the related electronics suites, although we would request a suitably secure communications suite.

If spare capacity can be made available through the conversion of the marine accommodation, we would be grateful if this could be made into additional storage capacity for assorted medical and dry supplies.

Independent Red Crystal Organisation, first, my apologies for the brevity of this reply. Second, it would certainly be possible to make such modifications, which would reduce the unit price of the vessel to $2.16 billion.

Greetings,

We've long heard of the reputation of the Royal Shipyards of Isselmere-Nieland, they having served effectively in the navies of many allies and friends of ours for quite some years by now. Seeing the desire of our nation's navy to move to a new-generation technical standard, now that the more-urgent refit of our various land forces is substantially done, I've been authorized to place the following order as part of the refit programme; split into the relevant categories for ease of tabulation and reference below. Naturally, this order will require multiple payments; we believe four annual sums of $5.19385 Trillion NSD would suffice if it should be agreeable to the RSIN.

Capital Ships ($4,142.4 Billion NSD)

150 x Chancellor CVBN ($19.4 Billon NSD per...) = $2,910 Billion NSD (Lead ships for 150 Carrier Strike Groups/CVSGs, divided among ten Strike Fleets)
200 x Court CVGN ($3.75 Billion NSD per...) = $750 Billion NSD (Air defense carriers for 150 CVSGs and 50 CCSGs, divided among the ten Strike Fleets)
50 x Consort CBGN ($9.648 Billion NSD per...) = $482.4 Billion NSD (Lead Ships for 50 Cruiser Strike Groups/CCSGs, divided among the ten Strike Fleets)

Escort Ships ($9,345 Billion NSD)

1750 x Alderdom CLGN ($3.42 Billion NSD per...) = $5,985 Billion NSD (One five-ship Cruiser Squadron per Strike Group in each of ten Strike Fleets, aka 100 per Strike Fleet; and ten squadrons in two Cruiser Flotillas per each of fifteen District Fleets, i.e. 50 per District Fleet)
1750 x Sianach DDGN ($1.92 Billion NSD per...) = $3,360 Billion NSD (Divided as above, one five-ship Destroyer Squadron per Strike Group in each Strike Fleet; ten squadrons in two Flotillas per District Fleet)

Support Ships ($868 Billion NSD)

350 x Lem AFSN ($1 Billion NSD per...) = $350 Billion NSD (One per Strike Group in each Strike Fleet, ten in two Stores Squadrons per District Fleet)
350 x Guiness AOEN ($1.48 Billion NSD per...) = $518 Billion NSD (As above, one per Strike Group in each Strike Fleet; ten in two Replenishment Squadrons per District Fleet...)

Submarines ($6,420 Billion NSD)

375 x Chamberlain SSBN ($6.12 Billion NSD per...) = $2,295 Billion NSD (One five-squadron Strategic Flotilla per Strike Fleet)
375 x Chamberlain SSGN ($6.12 Billion NSD per...) = $2,295 Billion NSD (One five-squadron Tactical Flotilla per Strike Fleet)
750 Nowotny SSN ($2.44 Billion NSD per...) = $1,830 Billion NSD (Two Wolfpack Flotillas per Strike Fleet)

Order Total: 6,100 Ships; $20,775.4 Billion NSD, preferably to be paid in four (4) installments of $5,193.85 Billion NSD per annum over four (4) years.

As part of our order though, the Navy Department has instructed me to request certain modifications be made to the classes as follows prior to delivery: First, removal of the ten side 155mm ETC turrets from each of the Consort class battlecruisers, for replacement with the GWC.98 57mm autocannon/point-defense SAM complex in equal numbers and locations; and second, removal of the four single 203mm ETC turrets from the Sianach class destroyers in favor of fitting in their place four single 155mm ETC mounts of the same type as removed from the Consorts. This way, these vessels can more closely match our naval doctrine as it's currently evolving; which incidentally our internal studies indicated they were a close match for already anyway prior to the modifications being decided upon. Feel free to recycle the relevant removed mounts as you see fit, though if those mounts taken from the battlecruisers could be used in the first batches of the destroyers in this order that would of course be ideal.

Esteemed Shipwrights,

We’ve been most delighted with the service of your classes in our Revolutionary Navy these past years, they having met and exceeded all our expectations quite handily. Now we seek to bolster their numbers, per a long-pending expansion plan that was approved quietly by the National People’s Congress just hours prior to my receiving word the first batch of funds had arrived for spending by my Department as mandated under law. To that effect, we wish to order the following for construction…

Capital Ships ($669.9 Billion USD)
50 x Consort CBGN ($9.648 Billion USD per…) = $482.4 Billion USD
50 x Court CVGN ($3.75 Billion USD per…) = $187.5 Billion USD
Escort Ships ($4,005 Billion USD)
750 x Alderdom CLGN ($3.42 Billion USD per…) = $2,565 Billion USD
750 x Síanach DDGN ($1.92 Billion USD per…) = $1,440 Billion USD
Support Ships ($372 Billion USD)
150 x Lem AFSN ($1 Billion USD per…) = $150 Billion USD
150 x Guiness AOEN ($1.48 Billion USD per…) = $222 Billion USD
Submarines ($2,140 Billion USD)
125 x Chamberlain SSBNs ($6.12 Billion NSD per…) = $765 Billion USD
125 x Chamberlain SSGNs ($6.12 Billion NSD per…) = $765 Billion USD
250 x Nowotny SSNs ($2.44 Billion NSD per…) = $610 Billion USD
Order Total: 2400 Ships, $7186.9 Billion USD; to be paid in two (2) installments of $3593.45 Billion USD per annum commencing upon confirmation of order and timed to coincide with approval of each annual Defense Budget involved.

As in our prior order, we request the removal of the 203mm ETC gun turrets from the destroyers in favor of installing an equivalent number of 155mm ETC turrets in the pattern used on the default-configuration Consort BCGNs as DP mounts; which large cruisers we equally request be refitted as per the prior order as well, with the so-taken mounts perhaps best used for the destroyers as before also. Operational experience with this scheme has indicated the potential usefulness of reinstating the larger caliber default-gun for the destroyers at a later date, yes; but the priority of this order and adherence to present fleet logistical norms dictate that we put off any retrofit of our destroyers to the default Síanach-class standard for the time being. Hence the CNO and myself have concurred in favor of retaining our variant form as-used presently for the sake of said conveniences.

Our Humblest Thanks and Regards,

Whomever it May Concern,

The Royal Navy of the Commonwealth of Tolvan has recently completed its recent Five Year Defence Review and it exposed several weaknesses in the structure and doctrine of the His Majesty's Navy. As a result I have been autohrised to place the following order with your estemmed company.

50x Royal Holly class CVN
25x Region class CBG
90x Duchy class CAG
120x Province class CG
100x Wallace class DDG (GP) (to be known in Tolvanic Service as the Town class)
100x County class DDG (AD)
100x City class DDG (ASW)
100x Bullfinch class FFH
125x Furtive class FFH (with 76mm gun)
50x Lord class LHD
50x Valley class LSD
100x Ungforth class LPD
DPRs for the GWS.57 Erne Medium SAM and GWS.52.2 Pelican AShM

We request that all vessels equipped with the GWLS.60 be shipped without said system as we plan to replace it with our own M207 ASW mortar. We also ask that ships be shipped without AAW systems or CIWS as we plan to replace these systems with our Tolvanic produced systems. Finally, we ask that ships equipped with with the AK-130 130mm and MONARC 155mm guns be shipped without these guns as we place to replace them with our own Mk.48 127mm gun.

Given the size and cost of this order we ask that the ships be delivered in six tranches.

We will wire payment upon confirmation of our order.

Sir Chad Graves
Underminister of Defence for Procurement
Commonwealth of Tolvan

OOC: I didn't bother to compute the vast price of the order since NSTracker (http://nstracker.jfsoftware.com/index.php?nation=tolvan) says I have a Defence Budget of about US$3 trillion, that should be more than enough for this purchase if you break it into six tranches. I'll just wait a week or so before using any of these vessels in any RPs. I trust this meets with your approval.
Isselmere
21-12-2008, 07:11
OOC: Sorry for the delay, Tolvan. It will take a little time to figure out the resulting costs, but it will be substantially reduced from the stated unit prices; I presume you will be providing the ships with locally produced electronics for air defence as well, so that will reduce costs further. I'll be able to get back to you within 24 hours with the total cost, itemised insofar as I am able.
Isselmere
23-12-2008, 01:11
Brief post, but it's all I can manage at present -- I'll provide an itemised list once I'm at home.

Anyway, for the ships, the total price comes to $840,700,500,000 (paid out over six installments). As I wrote previously, this price will be reduced by a fair margin once the systems you mentioned are taken out of the equation. This price, however, presumes most of the electronics suites that equip the ships have been provided. Needless to say, the final cost to your fleet once you install your systems will likely be about $1.35 trillion.

As for the DPRs, the cost will be $2.4 billion for the GWS.57 and $2.8 billion for the GWS.52. These figures are based on the likelihood thousands of such missiles (and their related fire control systems) will be built in your country.

The total cost for the order will be $845,900,500,000. I can provide a complete itemised list if required.

(In any case, the ships are already undergoing production.)

To: Director-General Colewan, RSIN, and All Others Whom it May Concern
From: Chief Marshal Eileen Millenhaus, RCW DoD and JCS

Esteemed Shipwrights,

So as to avail ourselves of an advantageous lull in international tensions while we can, we’ve decided to flesh-out our present naval organization in terms of certain ship categories we’ve come to deem somewhat under-strength. Hence, the Navy Department under this office has forwarded to me the following to order; all customary modifications specified in prior orders being followed again where applicable but for one exception specified below.

250 Chancellor CVBN ($4.850 Trillion)
250 Court CVGN ($1.875 Trillion)
250 Cernunnos BCN ($2.0 Trillion, replacement of AK-130 installations with GWC.98)
250 Admiral CCN ($750 Billion)
500 Chamberlain SSBN ($3.60 Trillion)
500 Chamberlain SSGN ($3.60 Trillion)
1000 Nowotny SSN ($2.44 Trillion)
500 Virago ASN ($0.441 Trillion)
500 Robust ARSN (($0.388 Trillion)
500 Sedna AGBN (($0.410 Trillion, replacement of AK-130 installations with GWC.98)
Total: $19.9165 Trillion

We also feel now is the optimum time to address certain smaller issues. First, to partially-restore our own Síanach class destroyers’ 203mm/L65 ETC primary DP gun armament in the course of this refit; partially being the operative word since desiring only two main guns (A and Y mounts) to keep within nominal destroyer classification, the superimposed (B and X) mounts we request to be yet again altered to host an appropriate GWC.98 57mm gun/missile-complex module each, to yet further improve upon the base Síanach design’s already-formidable air defense capabilities. We're also interested in how easily the MEQ.188 Valtarn system and associated communications might be put into a modular configuration fit for installation in a Hatchet (http://forum.nationstates.net/viewtopic.php?ns=1&f=6&t=7237&p=237387#p237387) class frigate, our communications with your representatives about prior ideas of ours regarding Valtarn-capability integration into the fleet by other means having sufficiently dissuaded us from our prior inclination to use the command ships as platforms even if those vessels themselves retained our interest for their original purposes anyway. What additional charges are necessary to convert our 2500 destroyers to the new gunnery configuration specified above, and to cover inquiry and/or research into our Valtarn-module proposal, may of course be charged as needed.

As well we remain interested in eventually acquiring drone capabilities for our vessels; however, unsure at the present moment which options would best fit our particular doctrines for their use, we don’t believe we can delay this order as long as would be required to include them appropriately to our needs this time. To accommodate other pending orders also, notably one placed with the Lyran Governmental Trade Department lodged prior to this (http://forum.nationstates.net/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1112&p=327031#p322654), we wish to make the first payment be one of $3.9165 Trillion USD as to not risk exceeding our purchasing power (limit of some $12-13 Trillion at any time via this Department’s discretionary slice of the budget) overall during the course of both orders' respective pending periods; following years’ budgets however could easily accommodate two $8 Trillion or more payouts as fitting compensation to complete the order and any surcharges possibly required should the RSIN find this proposal acceptable. In any event, this department offers its’ thanks as always.
