General petterson's eyes got wide as he said that. "What surprise?!" as soon as Petterson said that a loud roar was heard. Petterson and Smith went out the door and looked up in the sky.

Hovering above the base were the seventy-five combat airships of the 1st Fleet. There were the small, but numerous Spartans, and the heavily armed Hyperions, as well as the vicious Makos and the unassuming Trojans.

And then there were the Trojan IIs. They stood out the most. It looked like someone took two airships and attached them to the sides of an aircraft carrier. In fact, the Trojan II was an aircraft carrier. A flying aircraft carrier. It was the pride of the Wilhelmsborough Royal Air Force and it was an incredible sight to behold.

Suddenly, a sound of an amplifier being turned on could be heard. And then there came a voice.

"ATTENTION LIEUTENANT GENERAL ALAN SMITH. THE 1ST AIR FLEET HAS ARRIVED TO ASSIST YOU IN YOUR PEACEKEEPING MISSION. PLEASE STAND BY.

Petterson looked at Smith with an expression of abolute shock on his face.

Smith laughed out loud.

"Surprise!"

Petterson still in shock said "Its increadible! I've never seen anything like this in my life! I mean its brillant! Turning your ships into flying naval ships." All of the personal at the base were staring at the flouting navy. Some with there jaws open others just staired in disbelieve. Thomas and the squad went outside of there barracks to see what all the fuss was about. Then they all looked up. Only Joey said anything which was "cooool!"
Petterson looked at Smith and said "How did you do that?"

Smith smiled. "You would have to ask the fine people at Phoenix Dynamix for the answer to that question, General."

The three Trojan IIs launched a squadron of twelve Su-47s into the air. They flew around the base and the Urkdak city limits looking for any threats in the air.

And then, from the flagship Hammersmith, there came a Blackhawk helicopter. It flew down towards the building that Smith and Petterson had just exited, and landed about fifty feet away.

Petterson and Smith walked over to the blackhawk that landed. An officer in an air force uniform got up from inside the blackhawk and walked towards Petterson and Smith. Petterson put his hand out and said "I'm General Petterson in charge of all Ustian airforce operations. Welcome to Urkdak." Behind Petterson things went back to normal. F-22's landed at the airstrip just returning from a combat patrol. Comanches and other helicopters were being checked by aircrews in the hangers and other activities were going on.

Four delegates came from the Southwest states. One, not technically a part of the ILA, was Habeeb Salloum. He was the interim leader of the Tolerance Party, representing the muslim civilians (and looking to get his party added to the formal ballot.)

Two were military commanders, the respected Mudasir Ahmed and the high-ranking Mahmoud Hassan. The final representative was a political activist, Idara Isha'at-e-Diniyat. They had been escorted by a half dozen ILA guards (who'd stayed at the door.) Mudasir and Ahmed had left their sidearms with their escorts.

They entered the room hurriedly, having been informed that the Ustian delegation had arrived early. After hurried apologies, two at least of the parties involved sat down together.

Mahmoud Hassan was the first to speak. "Gentlemen," he opened, "We are aware you have entered under the banner of peacekeeping. I'd like to begin by saying we've respected the discipline and professionalism of your soldiers. Until the others arrive, let's just us few discuss. If we can stabiliize the situation with our forces, will you be willing to withdraw from our territory?"

Carroll was surprised that he wanted to start dicussing without the other parties but he answered his question. "We would be willing to withdraw as long as a stable government was formed and yes if we can get your forces under control. I'm not sure about Peoplesfreedom or any of the other peacekeeping nations but Ustia would. I suggest we wait so all parties can answer your question and so this is can be a fair peace talk."

Hassan could tell by his opposite numbers voice (and the glares of those with him) that he'd made some kind of faux pas.

Damn politics, he grumbled to himself. Maybe... starting to talk without them all here?

Out loud, he apologized, "I realize I may seem a little impatient, but I'm just a soldier. I'm sure you understand-the only profession in the world where we want to make ourselves unemployed." He smiled, a little awkwardly.

"I understand." said General Rossini. "We'll be doing plenty of air patrols in and around the Urkdak area. Also, I've been informed that the Stargazer has already been launched and will be taking orbit over the area in a short time."

Rossini leaned back in his chair. "Soon gentlemen, we'll be recieving some of the best footage of the enemy's power. If there was anything missed in the normal patrols, it will not escape the Stargazer!"

Location: 150,000 feet above Peoplesfreedom

The EB-180 "Stargazer" flew over rebel-controlled territory undetected by RADAR. It began to take high resolution pictures of the ground below: cities, bases, military convoys, and enemy aircraft were all caught by the Stargazer's cutting-edge cameras.

They also made sure to get some footage of the border zone between rebel controlled territory and the next country over, which ever country that may be.

After a couple hours of gathering information, the Stargazer turned around and made its way back towards Peoplesfreedom territory. It was going to land on one of the Trojan II's and deliver the information straight to General Rossini and Lieutenant General Smith.

However, the Stargazer was going to have to go far off course and then double back if it was going to land on that Aircraft Carrier. This had to be done so as not to arose suspicion from the rebels as to how a jet managed to escape detection, and what it was doing over their territory in the first place.

Equally OOC:
Fair enough. The post I'd written previously (about disarming the ILA guys with Sabeg) was trying to do just that. Faux pas, as far as I know, is a social mistake. Y'know, not knowing the etiquette and looking foolish because of it.

Had the ILA noticed the Stargazer, they would have been more than a little displeased. It seemed in rather bad faith to be spying on ones negociating partners.

The PeoplesFreedom delegation entered, rather awkwardly. All the ILA negociators were... polite in their greetings. Very, very, very polite.

He shook the Ustains hand, greeted him, and sat down at the table. A rather gruff looking secret serviceman took postion behind him. HE didnt like all these bodyguards, but Lord Marshal Braddock had insited. It was well known that Petsin would soon promote him to Grand Marshal, which was equal to PM, and the highest Military rank in the country. Petsin currently held it, for dueing the Coup the old one had been killed. So, he had to litsen to Braddock, even if it made him look less diplomatic.

The Trojan II-class airship Clausewitz flew out beyond Urkdak city limits. It was being supported by the Mako Bombers John Brown, Andropov, and King Fisher. It had flown into Peoplesfreedom territory because it did not want the rebels to see what it was up to.

And then, from out of the sky, came an unusually shaped aircraft. It was oval shaped and almost completely streamlined, save for its wings and tail. It was the EB-180 Stargazer. And it was coming in for a landing on the runway of the Clausewitz.

-----------------------------

General Rossini's radio went off, indicating that someone on the Hammersmith wished to speak to him.

He switched his radio on and said "Yes?"

He listened to the message and smiled.

"Thank you very much I'll tell them." Then Rossini switched off the radio.

He turned to Lieutenant General Smith and General Petterson. "The Stargazer has just landed on the Clausewitz. Would either of you two gentlemen care to join me in viewing what it found?"

Reason for him being there is that all of the Ustian peacekeeping force respect him and his great leadership under fire, they couldn't think of having anyone else represeant the army better than Carroll so thats why if you were wondering and also to get one of my characters involved in the meeting.

Just as the two where about to answer, a phone rang. General Petterson went to pick it up.

"Yes?" he said. Petterson listened in silence. "No need, I've got two of them right here. Yes, I'll tell them." Petterson hung up the phone.

"Generals, the peacekeeping conference is wondering where the representative from your country is!"

"Oh damnit!" cursed Lieutenant General Smith. He turned to General Rossini. "I have to get to that conference. I'll have to see the information later."

Rossini nodded. "I understand, Smith. You have a job to do." He stepped out of Smith's way. "Make haste, Smith."

"Yes Sir! Oh, and General Petterson, I'll meet back with you in a few hours." Smith walked out of the building and went to his Humvee. The vehicle left the base and headed in the direction of the conference.

Ten minutes later, they landed, and a entourage of soldiers escorted the Generals to a Private Meeting room. There on the table, were the recently developed photographs of rebel-controlled territory. Six officers were hard at work disseminating the evidence.

The Lieutenant General looked at his driver in astonishment. "Jesus fuck, you stupid prick! Where does somebody learn to drive like this?"

The driver grinned. "In Massachusetts, sir."

Smith raised his eyebrows in surprise, and tightened the buckle on his safety belt.

OOC: I'm honestly sorry about the delay, folks. My email hasn't been giving me a headsup for the last few posts, so I didn't know there'd been new action lately.

Mudasir Ahmed was the first to reply. "Our specific demands, as the ILA, are quite simple. All we require is legal amnesty for our members. Those who can be provento have deliberately committed abuses can be tried... by a joint tribunal with our representatives. The precise nature of our disarmament is up for negociation, though we see no reason why we shouldn't keep our more reliable units together to restore law and order. My colleague, Mr. Salloum, can speak more reliably on behalf of the population as a whole."

A nice touch, that, he thought to himself, The more I can wash my hands of politics, the happier I'll be.

Habeeb Salloum opened in a politicians slick voice. "It is in the interests of all for us to peacefully reconcile with our home country. However, there are things that could... shall we say, ameliorate this process? The passing of blatantly discriminatory laws shows that minority groups need a stronger voice. As such, I have a revised electoral map to submit for the coming elections." He pulled a half-dozen copies out of his briefcase and passed them around. Several faces grew incredulous.

Salloum pretended not to notice. "As you can see, under the old system, there were a mere one hundred and fifty seats in congress for the Southwest. (Out of five hundred total, for our foreign visitors.) Judging by the large growth of our areas population, we think one hundred and eighty is a much more realistic number. The current election should probably be delayed long enough for other parties to organize candidates there. We are opening talks with the other major parties, particularly the Liberals and the Moralists.

Let me remind you, gentlemen, that giving us the ability to air greviances in a democratic way is much better than having my distinguished colleagues," he indicated the ILA delegates, "Do it for us, hmm?"

In a habit honed by a long career of following, well, officers... he kept his face impassive. The guy speaks well enough, other than that. Maybe he'll do until the party holds a proper convention...

His heart leaped inside him, Salloum notwithstanding. After dealing with foreign militaries before, he'd never dared to hope for such civil negociations. He finally spoke out loud,

"Friends, I must say I'm thrilled with the progress in these talks. I'd like to highlight what I said before: the ILA has been effective in maintaining order in the areas we control. If the Central Government sees reason, we could focus entirely on police-support and counter-insurgency. Should that happen... well, gentlemen, I think you may all be able to return home ahead of schedule."

The only problem left is who'll take over, enthused Mudasir, Who'll take over after the war stops! Praises to Allah, this might just end.

Mudasir shrugged at Cestons reaction. It was more or less what he'd prepared for. "Friends, I realize our offer to keep order asks for a great deal of trust on your part. The security implications-for our people-are the crux of the argument. We cannot disband and go back to our homes without being assured of safety. Until this emergency ends, we aren't the only force out there! Radicals and criminals are still taking advantage of the breakdown of the rule of law. We intend to have order restored-by someone that we can trust.

We have prepared an alternative offer for this goal, however: representatives from our forces will accompany each peacekeeping patrol as guides. Their local knowledge will be invaluable, as any frontline commander can tell you. As well, we don't want anyone doing something... irresponsible now that the enemy is disarmed, do we?"

Meanwhile, some distance away, the ruins of the Eiom base smouldered. The firecracker popping of ammunition cooking mingled with howls from the ruined field hospital. It had been unmarked-there was no desire to attract attention to it-but the ILA, as de facto government, had set up clinics to replace bombed-out hospitals.

The military forces had been relatively small at the base, and few had survived. Those who had were occupied trying to pull apart the prefab buildings, looking for the soldiers-and civilians-trapped in the wreckage.

OOC: I realize the demand for the ILA to take over for the peacekeepers seems over the top. Still, look at it from their perspective-not only were you guys exchanging fire with them, you came at the request of the government they see as the enemy.

Mudasir was only too glad to go on. "Well, the role of peacekeepers is to assure an end to violence. It's nearly impossible to accomplish this unless both sides feel they can trust the foreign forces. Offering ourselves alone to keep order makes the central government nervous-as we've seen. However, we who live in the affected areas have no intention of surrendering control of our safety. That's why we came up with a backup proposal.

If we allow your respective patrols to proceed under our mens guidance, both sides can be satisfied. We can't have peace unless both sides can... what?" the last word was directed, witheringly, at a young ILA member who burst into the conference room. "Come with me," he hissed at the messenger, ready to tear the interrupters head off. "I'll be back in just a moment, friends." he said, apologetically.

He stepped outside the door with the young man, quickly. Those inside could hear a snarled exchange of whispers. Mudasirs deeper voice, however, quickly grew worried. Those inside couldn't make out words, but Mudasirs deep breaths prior to entering sounded like an attempt to calm himself.

"Gentlemen, I'm afraid negociations are over for today." his voice was clipped, as though he didn't dare allow himself to speak fully. Everyone stared, shocked. "About three hours ago, PeoplesFreedom aircraft opened fire on a ground installation. At least thirty people are dead, probably more. We need to go back and talk with the rest of the ILA leaders. You will all be contacted. Soon. Goodbye." his face was white with rage, and he was clearly using all his force not to explode himself. Salloum followed him out, sycophantically, murmuring calmingly to the room. Everyone sat, stunned.

Within two hours, a cable arrived at the PeoplesFreedom... foreign office. The symbolism of a formerly secessionist state making that choice was not lost on anyone. It said simply, "The officer who ordered the bombing raids is a war criminal. He shall be put before military tribunal. You have seventy two hours. If the officer is not identified and handed over-or if no progress has been made towards that end-the peace talks can be considered over."

Everyone sat there like stones. All of the delegations stared at Peoplesfreedom just shocked. Carroll only said one word to them "Why?" Then the room went into an uproar of disgust at Peoplesfreedom. The strange thing was is they were shocked as well. Everyone saw from there eyes and ecspression's that they didn't know either. Everyone calmed down.

Carroll and the Ustian delegation got up and started to walk out. Carroll said to the group "this has been a great day for all of us and I hope to see you all tomorrow. Good day." As Carroll walked off he thought "Yeah if there's a tomorrow." The Ustian body guards were along side the delegation as they made there way out of the caesar hotel. A seahawk landed in the front. Dust was kicked up along with other debre. They all hopped aboard and once they were on the chopper lifted up and flew away towards Urkdak airbase.

Carroll got on the horn and contacted general Richard. he said "general we have a problem. The peace talks are in jeaprdy thanks to peoplesfreedom's random strike. We need to find out who authorized it and fast." General Richard responded "we already know who authorized the strike. It was Marshal Weston. The ILA have demanded that the person respondable for the strike has to be charged with war crimes and go through a military trial. They said if there demands are not meet within 72 hours the peace talks will end."

Carroll responded "great, fucking great! I think we should consdiering he didn't tell any of us about the strike, He didn't ask us for the approval and His little strike has brought us back to the brink of war! We've already lost 18 men in this fight! including two of my men! No more." Richard said "I agree. I'll inform Peterson of the demands and we'll see what he thinks." Carroll responded "alright. god help us Richard." Carroll hung up and layed back in his set. He knew something bad was going to happen. something really bad.

Breaking News: Nuclear Explosion

Welcome to breaking news at TPF Network.

At about 8:15 this morning, a nuclear explosion ripped througe New Peter. The device was nearly 5 megatons and the city is destroyed.

Lord Marshal Braddock announced that all Troops would be pulled from The Southwest States. Braddock said this, "At this time, furthur Military action in the Southwest would be futile and unnessary, the troops will be re-deployed to help NewPeter, The Air Force will create a DMZ at the border of the Southwest. Any troops in the DMZ, which is 40 miles wide and 10 miles long will be destroyed."

Sources inside High Command say that the troops will be out by the end of the Week.

Deaths are not known at this time but are most likly beyond one million

It is not known what kind of nuclear device it was or who activated it, Military Intel is not commenting.

President Petsin nor his spokeperson could be reached.

It is believed he is in the an Ultra-secure Site.

Does this DMZ have Urkdak included in it? I wouldn't think so but I'm wondering. Also is it really necessary to have it so large? Come on 40 miles wide takes up a pretty good chunk of the southwest. Do you really have the manpower to keep something like that secure? On to the nuclear explosion is new peter close enough for me to worry about radiation and nuclear fallout? If you need any help with the situation I can send some of my men to help with the situation considering your already overstreached. If you need anything just ask us, well help.

We do not agree with your rebels in their violent ideas, but what was the cause of the revolt? We have very open minds and will support anyone who we see as makers of justice, even these rebels. It seems that religion is the basis of this conflict. I have always tried never to mention religion. It can cause controversy. But perhaps in this stage of violence it is neccesary. Perhaps you should build a couple of Mosques with pre-approved heads that would spread the words of Allah through acceptance as it is truely taught in the Koran not through violence and intolerance:mp5: . The ILA leadership met in a bunker, hidden in the basement of a private home a half hours drive out of the city. They sat around, more or less silent.

A pair of staggering events-the destruction of Newpeter and the bombing raid-had thrown a tentatively comfortable situation into one worse than before. General Taylors forces-who'd been tying down a decent number of PeoplesFreedom troops-were devastated, likely wiped out entirely.

ILA discipline had been sorely tested in the hours since the attack. Orders had been issued preemptively, before the news of the Eiom bombing raid had even been released. Nothing was to happen-the peace process was to be allowed to continue, as long as the offending officer was brought in.

Tired of war, most had complied. A rogue officer had been removed from command-forcibly, by military police-when he'd attempted to give chase to the troops retreating to assist Newpeter. The more well trusted ILA units had liased with local peacekeeper forces to keep the streets clear. The Southwest was thoroughly pacified.

Word was still awaited from the Central government, even as a new set of cables went out to peacekeeper high commands of the many nations.

It read curtly, "If the PeoplesFreedom has authorized this raid, the central government is out of it's mind. We hope a loose cannon is to blame. The only way to keep the population from boiling over is for the rogue officer-whoever he is-to be publicly identified. We are not miracle workers! The promise of justice is all that is keeping the situation as calm as it is now. You all have some level of integration with PeoplesFreedom forces. The information can be given anonymously, but you all are bound to have access to it.

We trust you to do the right thing." It was signed by every senior ILA commander. Not terribly diplomatic, but certainly not doubting.

Were already dealing with the situation through peace talks. Right now things are a little edgy though considering New Peter was destroyed by a nuke and the ILA are threatening to stop the peace talks if the person responsiable for the raid is not I.D and tried in a military or civilan court. Please read a little of the posts so you can be up to date on the current situation in the southwest.

Message to ILA:
We've identifed the person responisable for the raid. His name is Marshal Weston. We agree on puting him through a trial for war crimes. We don't know about everyone else though.

OCC: The DMZ is auctally quite small, since all the SW States equal say, New mexico.

Private Don Blosow jumped into his Doberman. He donned his NBC gear and the convoy set out. They were heading out Of Urdak, in a division sized force with the CAS needed. It had been a day since the device had exploded. A powerful gust of wind had brought more than lethal radition to the area. The lethel radition would hit urdak in four hours, linger for two or three day, then it would dissolve. He then poked his DR-83 out a shooting hole and watched for an attack. God knows what the muslims would do now that thyre was radaition headed there way. Then his company commander annocunced that General Taylor had been found dead in the ruble of his command post. The death toll had climbed by about 300,000 people. He had to get there soon, his family was there, and there was no food, no water, and few remaining medical persons.

The ILA leadership-not having dared to move-was almost all present to receive the Ustian answer. Most were close to collapse with relief-nobody had really wanted to break off peace talks, but there was no other workable response. They hastily crafted a reply to Ustia.

"Our gratitude is endless. At least one of the forces implicated in the area is able to see reason. If others act as yourselves, talks can continue. Would you be willing to publicly lobby the Central government to hand him over to a tribunal?

As well, as a relatively neutral foreign power, could your own home government be contacted about neutral locations for the trial?"

OCC: are you taling about the Eiom raid, or are you inferring that we cause the nike, Mariah?

OOC: Eiom. We've got no clue who set off the nuke. Damn, I had no idea the cities were so close together!

The full extent of the nuclear tragedy-that is to say, the spreading radiation -stunned everyone. The pure size of the weapon had been a shock. A handful of paranoiacs had fled the city early, but relatively few people had connected themselves with the events in Newpeter.

Prevailing winds had slightly slowed the radiation, but Urkdak was still far from being spared. The hands of fate were half-extended over the city, with two extra hours bought before the full onslaught.

ILA forces had been deployed-those that hadn't fled themselves-to take control of train stations and airports. There were a thousand heartbreaking scenes as organization was forced onto crowds to allow as many people to escape as possible.

The ILA was going to suffer gravely from the explosion. The best of their forces were occupied with desparate attempts at evacuation. Fleeing cars were being stopped-at gunpoint-so families could crowd children into the back. The senior leadership was mostly evacuated-except for the stubborn Mudasir. The respected old man was hopping around the city madly. What could be hidden for salvage was being shoved away, so the ILA could survive. Efforts from sympathizers in other cities were being called in.

Something would survive the radiation disaster. How many indviduals could do so... that was a less certain proposition.

General Rossini's eyes widened in horror as he saw a sight that no military leader, no matter how experienced, ever wished to see: a nuclear explosion.

This was bad. This was really bad. In a short time, the radiation from that blast would sweep into Urkdak. Citizens would die. Wilhelmsborough soldiers would...

At once he ran to CIC.

"Get a message out to the entire fleet!" he shouted. "Tell them to get as far away from the nuclear explosion as possible!"

The CIC scrambled to follow through with his orders.

"And somebody contact Lieutenant General Smith! Tell him and his Corps to fall back!"

The mighty combat airships of 1st Fleet turned in the sky and sailed away from the deadly nuclear fire.

The streets leading out of Urkdak were a mess. No other description. Bus, car, truck, (even the odd pack animal or pedestrian!)... the only vehicles missing were planes. (And possibly boats, though the river through town had a little of it's own chaos.) The most that those trying to keep order-broken away from ILA and peacekeeper forces-could hope for was everyone going in the right direction. A faint glow was growing more and more visible, hanging over the city.

Almost everywhere, the city lights were dark. The noise of vehicles was dwarfed by thousands of people screaming, weeping, calling out for children or friends or parents. The whole scene was miserable and surreal.

And that lethal cloud kept drawing closer.
Ustia

It was chaos plain and simple. Thousands of people were screaming and despreatly trying to get out of the city. Ustian and other peacekeepers tried to keep the evac under control but it was almost impossible. Carroll's unit was deployed to make sure everyone got out. They directed people to the safe zones and broke up any fights. They were all armed with less-then leathel weapons but each had a side arm too. Thomas and his squad trailed the crowd to see if anyone was left behind. Food and water was passed out to the refugees and anybody wounded were either checked by a medic or sent to the airbase depending on how bad the wound is. The crowd was afraid of the Ustian's because of there NBC gear. Everyone acted nice but they all still had a scared look on there face.

Aboard the Hammersmith

"Alright!" said General Francis Rossini. "The way out of Urkdak has been seriously congested. Inform all the carrier ships that we're going to launch Black Hawk Helicopters to evacuate the citizenry outside of the city gates!"

"Sir, what of Lieutenant General Smith's Corps?"

"They've pulled out already! Don't you remember? They were guarding the enterence!" Rossini thought for a moment.

"Somebody get Smith on the line! tell him to get back to the city with those three hundred URAL-43206 Cargo Trucks, and help out!"

"Aye sir!"

Rossini turned to the officers in the CIC. "Alright people, let's move, on the double!"

A minute later, 14 Black Hawk Helicopters took off from the Trojan I and II's. They headed down towards the crowd to evacuate citizens to the outskirts of Urkdak.
Ustia
22-05-2006, 00:33
The choppers came in low and fast. They landed in a clearing in the city. Ustian and other peacekeeping troops directed the citizens to the choppers. Behind the squad came the Ustian transport trucks. There were about 20 of them. The convoy quickly loaded up as many citizens as they could. The trucks were packed with civilans. Once they got as many people as they could both the Blackhawks and the Transport trucks moved out. They took a good chunk of the crowd with them. Once they left the peacekeepers told everyone to keep moving. behind them Wilhemsbourgh URALs were coming down the road to pick up even more people.

Airbase:
More and more civilans arrived at the airbase to be evacuated. Knighthawks and Ospreys lifted them out. The crowd started to shrink and was about a little over a thousand strong. If they keep up there pace they might be able to get everyone out before the Radiation struck. The processing of civilans increasgly organized as everyone was given radiation meds along with Ustian personel so if they are exposed to radiation they have a less chance of dieing from it.

OOC: Who's gonna describe the actual arrival of the cloud, eh?

The two (let's just assume, eh?)commercial airports were rapidly emptied of people. The sheer volume of planes-so great that many were left circling in the air, with no space to land-was greater than the volume of people trying to get out! A few were diverted to fields or hastily-cleared highways outside the city, picking people up from the gridlock outside.

ILA troops and civilian volunteers spread out on vehicles, speeding along eerily empty streets looking for more people to bundle into the airports.
Ustia
22-05-2006, 21:30
(OCC: I think it should be Peoplesfreedom considering he thought up the idea in the first place.)

A few of the airliners were deverted to the airbase. They quickly gathered up the remianing civilans and flew off. The base got eirely quiet after that.

City streets:
ILA, Ustian and the other Peacekeepers searched through the empty city looking for any people left behind. Carroll was seting in the Wolf HMMVU with his anti riot gun thinking "You know its kind of ironic that just a couple of days ago I was fighting this guys and killing them but now were all working togther to help save lives. Strange how things work out." The small convoys spread out through the city. Carroll's Wolf along with another Wolf and a ILA vechile searched and found several people hiding in there homes. Most looked scared out of there minds but when they saw an ILA soldier they calmed down a little.

The radar station's warning light blinked. General Hearthdrow, commander of the Southwest Armed Forces, or really just the evacuation of them, sighed then said

" It's Here"
A great orange glow cam into the city on the wind. It swept into doors windows people sealed rooms into NBC filitering mask. Its pollution and stink was everywhere. Alreday small dogs and cats collapsed, dead. Any refugee that was cuaght had just under 92 hours to live unlessn surgery was done.

Despite the millions of evacations, millions more were caught. They cried and ran into the Sealed Shelters left for them. After three days when the radation would pass, Medical teams would swarm in and try to save them. But they owuld lnit be enouge. After them, would come the coffins, and the rot of death.

The radiation finally came. Detectors spiked and the famiraly *click**click* noise started up symoblizing the arrival of the Rads. Soldiers yelyed "Move!,Move! get inside now!" everyone made there way to the airtight buildings. The airbase was empty in minutes. The only thing there was the radiation, silence and soon bodys, lots and lots of bodys.

Convoy:
Carroll and the convoy made it back to the airbase just in time. The ILA troops weren't equiped with NBC gear so they begin to fall to the ground and scream in pain. Ustian troops picked them up and hawled them to the airtight hospitial. Doctors ameniditly went to work giving them raditation meds among other things. A few were unharmed though and they helped with the treating of there men. Carroll relsied that these people weren't mindless killers. They were just like him and in the same situation. After that day Carroll would think of the ILA in a extremely different light.

Lieutenant General Alan Smith looked back at the city of Urkdak with expressions of anger and regret etched across his face.

He had been charged with keeping the peace, and preventing the two sides from killing each other. And look what had happened: a city had been nuked, and another had to be abandoned due to the radioactive fallout.

There was nothing that could be done to change what had happened. All that Smith could do was escort these 41,358 refugees to a safe location.

The Blackhawk helicopters, which had previously evactuated people out of the city, were now picking up refugees and bringing them to a Peoplesfreedom military base safely within their territory.

But they couldn't pick them all up. For the time being, the Urkdak refugees would have to ride in the URAL-43206 Cargo Trucks. Or if those were completely filled up, they had to walk.

And so, the long convoy of refugees and Wilhelmsborough soldiers walked down the highway. The Airships of the 1st Air Fleet flew overhead, watching over the snaking mass of humanity.

George Beckham sat in his apartment, alone. He was certainly feeling the abscence of company! After revealing Braddock, he'd started seeing assasains everywhere. Even though being at home was predictable, familiarity was calming-and there was nobody to mistake for a hired killer.

He'd bought a pistol, but had little enough hope. He sat in the closet of his bedroom, rocking back and forth. The terrified man was curled around his pistol, nerves on edge.

The knock that came at the door made him jump. He stood up, shut the wicker door. He tried not to breathe. "Mr. Beckham?" A foreign accented voice came from the front door. "Mr. Beckham! We don't mean you any harm-we're against Braddock. We're with the ILA, understand? There's two of us by the door. Now, my friend and me are going around the corner. We'll come around slowly, where you can see us. Let us in, we want to talk to you. All right?"

Beckham jumpily suspected a trick. He didn't come out. After about fifteen minutes-which felt like an eternity-the voice came back. "Mr. Beckham? Are you there? Please answer us. If we'd wanted to kill you, we'd have come in through the window," Beckham tremblingly turned his gun to his window, "Or we'd have picked the lock." He spun towards the bedroom door. "We're here to take you to safety. We have professional guards. Mr. Beckham? Please."

If they want to kill me, they'll get me anyways. I'll try it. Beckham was trembling so hard he could barely walk, but he came to the door. He didn't know them, but Yul Hek and an ILA contact were waiting for him. He was bundled into a van outside. In it, Yul Hek, the ILA soldier, and a pair of other young men with submachine guns were waiting.

"You're real safe, Mr. Beckham. Don't you worry." One of the men nodded grimly. For the first time in a week, Beckham started to relax. Hek offered the reporter a flask (the Muslim ILA members chose to look the other way.) His shaking hands spilled a little, but the Scotch calmed him as it took effect.

"Feeling better?" Hek asked in a voice of honest concern. Poor man, he though, looks like hell. "Now, how did you find out about Braddock? All these men are from Urkdak-we're looking for him."

General Francis Rossini saw the Ustian fighters on the RADAR as they headed towards their target. He turned to his second in command.

"I want a squadron of Su-47's scrambled to join them!" he said.

"Right away, sir!" came the Lieutenant General's reply.

A few minutes later, twelve Su-47 Flankers took off from the deck of the flying aircraft carrier and moved to join up with the Ustian fighters.

The Joint force made there final approach toward the goverment building that Braddock was in. The Seahawks went in first fast roping Wardogs in a four corner box around the building, there was no way they would let him get away. While that was happening an Osprey landed on the roof and a full load of commandos came running out. Around the building special forces versions of the Wolf HMMWV were being deployed by Ospreys. The wardogs mounted them and locked down the area. Above the Ustian and Wihlemsbourgh fighters keep air supremecy. the wardogs moved in from the roof and the ground level checking for bombs or any booby trap for that matter on the doors. They entered and everyone was thinking "Here comes the hard part."

We are horrifed. We will not hand over Grand Marshal Braddock and any
raid against him will be seen as an act of war aganist this nation.

"Braddock, Sir, Ustain commandos have just landend on the roof, we need to get you to safety"

Braddock looked at the head of his security forces, with deep thougt. He couldnt believe the Ustians were auctally trying to pick him up. If he fought them, his plan would go down the drain, but if they truley though he was guilty, they would put him on trial. Damnit.

" Gutin, Im going to talk to these Ustains and prove to them im not guilty" Braddock barely held a laugh. Not guilty my ass, this whole country would soon love him.
" If they dont listen, kill them"

" Yes sir."

Braddock began towards the roof.

Meanwhile, his personel security team set up thie postions. Snipers in the buildings around the area, two attack helichopters, three tatical teams of 15 men, armed with the best weaponry, and finally his own bodyguards. They were willing to die for him, and they were the very best Marines, Soldiers, Airmen, and Sailors The Peoples Freedom had to offer. They had more experience each than the whole Ustian Army, and thier teamwork was unmatched by the very best commandos in the entire world. That in addition to thier heavy weaponry and tatical skills, would wipe out the entire Ustian force. And even if they failed, the attack choppers would do thier dirty work.

Meanwhile, back in Wilhelmsborough...

"What the hell is going on over there?" shouted Prince William towards the leaders of the Wilhelmsborough military.

General of the Army Niccoli Trotski glanced over the report. "It looks as if the Peoplesfreedom military leadership is attempting a coup."

"If they succeed, it'll certainly make the country's name appear overwhelmingly ironic." quipped General of the Air Force Salazar Sherman.

"Not going to happen." said Prince William. "Peoplesfreedom will be ruled by elected government, not by the will of the military!"

The Prince stood up. "Inform whatever leadership they have left that the Principality of Wilhelmsborough will not recognize military rule over Peoplesfreedom!"

In the air over Braddock's building

The Squadron circled around in air, over the building which held General Braddock. With them were the fighters of Ustia's Fulcken Squadron.

The Leader of the Squadron, Major David Crowe, was a bit worried. They were here to get General Braddock and bring him into custody for crimes against humanity. But the Peoplesfreedom military seemed adement on keeping him here. Major Crowe knew that this was a tense situation which could quickly degenerate into fighting. Already, the Squadron was picking up Peoplefreedom fighters on their RADAR's.

Faced with the prospect of fighting, Crowe took into account the weapons that the Squadron was packing. They each had machine guns, four MOAB-based missiles, and twelve sidewinder missiles. The 12 Su-47's were also carrying 2 Capsule-B's which had yet to be used in a combat situation. Crowe was unsure what the Capsule-B’s contained, but if the rumors were any indication, they could only mean pain.

He wondered if he would be the first person in the entire Wilhelmsborough military to use one.

Meanwhile the legimate PeoplesFreedom military was moving in where the crisis had erupted. Four Nighthawks were carrying the elite Romeo force into the city. They were to order the ustains to surrender and take Braddock into custody so the could figuere out what the hell was going on. The Air Force also had a breech in thier airspace. Aircraft from Ustia and Wilhelmsborough were operating inside the airspace. They were only allowed to operate in Southwestern airspace. They had to evict them, show them they were strong. Thus, 12 F-29's were en route, and 24 F-16's had been scrambled from a nearby Reserve airbase. 12 more F-15's were on standby.

They would figuere out what the hell was going on.

PF coup forces were on every building around the building braddock was in. They had heavy anti-tank weapons with them, a little over kill for the Wolfs. It was bad really bad. Above the Seahawks readed there Miniguns which would tear through the troops on the roof like how badly they would tear through the wolfs. The Commandos on the ground took defence positions and readed there UMI-32's and there other weapons for combat. The cross-com on all of the wardogs showed several red triangles on the roofs. The knew exactly where they were. the attack choppers hovered a little way's away waiting for the fireworks to start. The wardogs pulled out the stingers and loaded, aimed at the attack choppers and waited.

inside the building:
Meanwhile the group on the roof made there way through the building systemically checking every room for braddock or really anybody. Then they heard someone coming up the stairs. The 24 men group set up in a defence formation behind anything they could find. If the coup forces tried to fight they would be slaughtered. Commander of the group lieutnant Gearhart activated his heat vision. He saw a small group of men coming up the stairs they were all armed with weapons but he couldn't tell what type.
They opened the door and everyone aimed at the group and yelled "drop your weapons now! Don't fucking move!, drop the weapons!" Everyone had there fingers on the trigger of there weapons just waiting for them to start firing. If they did the enemy group would all die within seconds from a hail of extremely accarute gun fire.

Above building:
Randel noticed the huge fighter group heading toward them and the helicopter group on its way. If they got into a dog fight they wouldn't stand a chance. All between the PF forces and total air supermecy was 12 SU-47's and 6 F-35's. He thought "were screwed."

The wardog commandos burst into the room.

The 2nd tatical team were surprised, but not too suprised. They opendend fire, lead slammed into the Wardog team.

" This is tatical team two, we have made contact!"

Shit. thought Braddock, and he turned around, his bodyguards drew thier weapons and off they were, running downstairs to his waiting cars.

" Two-Four, open fire"

The Anvils launched and destroyed the Wolf's. The Snipers opened fire and thier marksmenship slammed into targets.

The Mahrian signals specialist (and his semi-trained ILA apprentice) were stumped. The Ustian radio was going insane on every frequency they used, but relatively few of the messages could be decoded. After the triumph of eavesdropping on Beckham, this failure was frustrating. The only idea getting through was something to do with Braddock, and with the mobilization of forces.

It took good old-fashioned lads with binoculars to catch the Ustian takeoffs. Radar tracking led the ILA to their location.

It looks like they're after Braddock, Inshallah, thought the ILA radio operator. He hurried to pass it on to his superior.

Meanwhile, chaos reigned in the ILA headquarters. The Mahrian spies-suspicous as always-had hurried the ILA leadership under protection. The death of Petsin had caught everyone flatfooted. ILA forces were examined frantically, trying to see if any of the less reliable operatives had gone rogue.

OOC: I'm assuming here that the men who killed Petsin were Braddock supporters. Am I correct, PeoplesFreedom?

OCC: Ahh shit I mean't to say you guys opened the door. Oh well I'll have to live with it.

The coup soldiers opened fire hiting the first few guys through the door. The rest opened fire and a hail of gun fire rained down on the coup troops. There blood splatered everywhere as 50 rounds a second blasted into there bodys. The coup soldiers died within seconds there bodys lying all over the stairs and blood was everywhere. Three of the wardogs had been hit, two were hit in the armor so they were ok but the threed was hit in the neck. Blood was spewing out as the medic closed his wound. Gearhart heard all hell breaking loose outside so he contacted the troops. "This lieutnant Gearhart whats going on?" a muffled voice came through with gun fire being heard in the background "sir Wolfs destroyed, many casulaties. Braddocks trying to get away in his personal vechile but where pend down and can't get to him."
Suddenly Gearhart heard the stingers fire and then explosion's were heard as the missile's slammed into the enemy attack choppers. Gearhart looked outside for a moment and saw the attack choppers go out of control and then hit the ground in a blaze of flames. He went back into the stair well and said over the radio. "Hold your positions well take care of the vechile." the soldier responded "Yes sir!" Gearhart smashed a window open overlooking the set of cars when a sniper round barely misses him instead slamming into the wall behind him. "Shit get down!" he didn't even have to say it because everyone was already down. Gearhart grabed the radio and contacted the seahawks up above. "Gearhart here requesting gun run on building roof top opposite are postion." The pilot responded "roger that coming in hot!" He heard the Seahawks roll in and he pecked his head just barly enough to see whats going. The Seahawks opened on the coup troops. Gearhart saw them get torn to shread's by the thousand's of bullets slamming into there bodys. With the roof clear they set up the Javelin loading it locking on to the front car and then firing. The car exploded into flames. "Reload!" yelled gearhart but then coup troops opened fire from the other roofs. The fire only lasted a moment as the seahawks came around for another pass killing them all. The Javelin was reloaded and then fired at the rear car. It exploded just like the other one. The seahawks then blasted the other cars sending thousands of bullets into them poping the tires and reaping them apart. The Javelin crew finished off the rest of the cars turning them all into burning reckage. Gearhart yelled "can't escape now bastard!" The medic evacuating the wounded wardog as the rest of The team moved away from the window and then cautiously continueing downstairs being very careful not to get blasted again.

Outside:
The anti-tank weapons had destroyed all of the Wolfs. everyone inside them died instantly or shortly after. Snipers picked off anybody caught in the open making there brains explode as the rounds hit there head. With the skys clear of the attack choppers the Seahawks blasted the remaining coup troops into dust. None survived the hail of bullets reaping them apart. Medics tended to the wounded as the ground force's moved in and covered all sides of the building. They took positions inside the entry ways and outside with guns at the ready. One of them had a bull horn and he said through it "Braddock you are surrounded. All of your men execpt the men standing with you now are dead. We have the building completely surrounded. Surrender now or will be forced to come and get you." With Braddocks escape vehciles destroyed and the coup troops outside slaugthered he was trapped. He could surrender or make a last stand either way his going to face justice.

Message to legimate Peoplesfreedom:
We would like to call them off but we have taken fire from coup forces supporting Braddock. Pulling out now would be inpracticaly and would cause the deaths of many Ustian soldiers considering with already taken losses from the coup forces. We will pull out are air force's as you already have fighters inbound but we have braddock trapped and if we pull out now he'll get away. If you want your forces can help bring him in as you have according to radar and scouts a chopper force inbound full of your special forces. We wouldn't mind you dropping your troops in and taking over the operation as Braddock isen't going anywhere. Or we can hand him over to you once we have him, your choice but please don't shead any blood as too many people have died already from this conflict. Braddock started all of this and he must face justice from us or you we don't care we just want him to pay for his crimes. Please be reasonable nobody else has to die.

above captiol:
"This is AWACs all planes you are ordered to RTB (return to base) amenditaly, don't ask questions just move it!" Randel a little confused responded back "roger AWACs returning to base." The Ustian and Wihlemsbourgh fighters broke off and returned to base.

They burst into the office building, and rapidly moved down the halls. They ran into one of Braddocks Tac Teams. He ducked into a room to his left, and he stuck his gun around the corner, and made sure he knew where the enemy was. Tighting his grip, he executed a prompt manaver. He swung out of the door, before they even knew he was there, Private "B" had delivered 3 6.8 AP rounds into the poor mans chest. The bullets easily pireced his kevlar. And exited out of his back. Braddock and his group were standing in a clearly of the sets of cubicles talking about something, maybe how to get out? Gearhart could only here bits and pieces of the conversation . Gearharts squad had them surrounded. The men were spread out in a circle around Braddock and his men. They were waiting for Gearharts command to attack. Gearhart whisperd in the mike "Ready grenades." Gearhart and a few other men pulled out flash bang grenades and Tear Gas grenades, pulling the pins and waiting for Gearharts command. Whispering Gearhart gave the order "now!" At that moment Gearhart and the other men threw the grenade's toward's Braddocks group. Everyone looked away as the bangs and Tear gas went off. An instant after the Wardogs opened up on Braddocks men being very careful not to hit Braddock. At the same moment Gearhart aimed very carefully at Braddock with his tranquilzer gun. He was only going to get one shot at this. he fired.

Petsin Resigns

Peoples Freedom City, The Peoples Freedom-
President Petsin, still weak from the attack on his life, today resigns.

Scandals over the Southwest States and rumours of a planned Coup by Lord Marshal Braddock- The De Facto Second In Command- has led the President to believe that the government should be re-formed.

Asked what this meant of the Southwest, Petsin said " Yes, at this time were are considering Independence or Self-goverment.

Ths Southwest War, as it is Commonly called, has exacted a toll on The Peoples Freedom Military, discrediting it. The War, a Insurgency War with large scale ambushes and many IED's, has led to the a death count of 69,000. International Peacekeepers were called in.

Asked what would become of them, Petsin said " It is up to the international community. The De-militarized zone is still in effecr.

The 10 mile wide and 10 mile length of the DMZ, is patrolled by warplanes and any enemy military movment is destroyed.

The President also said that the refugees are coming back to Urkdak, and The Peoples Freedom would help in any way possible. He also added that the New Peter Recovery is at countinuing, althouge nearly the device killed nearly one million.

The Senate leader, Matt Booch, had annouced that he will be Acting-President. The Presidental elections have been on hold.

The Senate will meet next week to discuss.

Asked, why Lord Marshal Braddock would not assume the leadership, Booch said that he was being arrested for War crimes, Murder, and High Treason. This come as a shock, but Booch declined furthur comment to the matter.

The force loaded back up and headed for Urkdak once again. After a long flight with many in flight refleling's the force landed at the deserted Urkdak Airbase. Before the force unloaded out of the Globemaster's/Galaxy's a few men with NBC gear made a final check of the area. They didn't find any trace's of radiation so the force unloaded and started to get the airbase in working order again.

Meanwhile....
Search party's were sent out to find survivers of the radiation if there was any. During there search's they found several body's lying in the street, all dead from radiation poisoning. More troops were called in to take care of the body's so diesease's wouldn't form and spread. they wore NBC gear just in case and so they didn't have to touch the mututated body's. The troops handled the victims with as much descente as possible placing there body's in the infamous black colored zip up body bags and placing them in transport trucks were they'ed be positvely ID'd later. The smell from them was terrible to say the lest and could even be smelled through the gas mask. Some of them barfed it was so bad.

OOC: happy to hear you're ok, man. Can we assume that the peace talks-interrupted by the raid on Eiom-are back up and running? I'd also like to ask, when will the election be held? I imagine that would be the best time to write a reaction to Petsins resignation.

Alongside the Ustians, volunteers in the few NBC suits the ILA possessed (handed out to soldiers and civilians) swept through the city as well. Each party carried a geiger counter.... and cleaning supplies. Any major concentration of radioactive dust was being cleared up. The river was examined, and was declared still contaminated. As neighbourhoods were declared safe, people with their own transportation began hurrying home. The tent city that had sprung up had been miserably crowded, and shelter had been lacking for many.

An ILA spokesman, several cities away from Urkdak, blinked at the storm of camera flashes. He wasn't so much a spokesman as... well, one of the more telegenic corporals. And he hadn't so much volunteered as been handed a prewritten statement. "Read it and get the hell out," he'd been advised.

The young man cleared his throat, "Friends, I have the great pleasure to make the following announcement. As of today, the Islamic Liberation Army has put an end to all new recruitment. We have also enacted an accelerated retirement program, to encourage many soldiers to return home somewhat early. Details are in the information packages you were handed at the door.

We are undertaking these efforts as a show of good faith to kick off a renewed set of peace talks. The staff of the Caesar hotel have graciously agreed to host a second round of negociations, and diplomatic notification has been sent to all interested parties of the date and time.

We hope that the new federal government of Mr. Matt Booch will honour the agreements made prior to the rogue attack on Eiom. If this takes place, the ILA will cheerfully lay down our arms permanently. I will not be taking questions. Thank you."

Only too glad to get away from the cameras, the sweating young man hurried off. The next speaker (a Tolerance Party representative talking shop about the upcoming election) was much less exciting.

Urkdak Airbase:
After a long day the Airbase was up and running just like it had been before the radiation. No traces of radiation had been found at the airbase so it was declared safe. Everything went back to normal at U.A.B as the fighters, choppers and everything else returned. It was back to business for the men at U.A.B.

(OCC: PF the reason I'm asking for more info is that I said in my response "the Wardogs opened up on Braddocks men being very careful not to hit Braddock." "get down!" Yelled Gearhart as the few remaining guards opened fire on Gearharts men. The guards were missing badly because of the tear gas in there eyes plus the flashbangs that is blinding them for a few seconds. Bullets were flying everwhere as the guards shot randomly around the room destroying computers, lights etc. Gearhart got a call on his radio, it was from the Romeo leader. He responded while talking over the constant gun fire "sir, Braddock is unconiscus from a tranquilzer. Most of his guards are dead but the few remaining have opened fire on us. No casaulties so far but there really tearing up the place and.....wait their reloading, wardogs! Open fire!" In the background "J" could hear the gun fire kick up a notch as the wardogs fired back at the guards. the line suddenly went dead on "J" because Gearhart had switched the frequency plus he picked up his weapon and had started firing at the survivoring guards.

The room was filled with gunfire as the wardogs blasted the remaining guards into submission. Debre was flying everywhere as bullets tore through the cubicle the guards were hiding in. After firing a quick burst Gearhart moved to flank them. A few wardogs taged along with him. Standing there everyone readed themselfs. Finally he gave the order "go!" While quickly moving around the guards position he yelled "covering fire! Keep there heads down!" The other wardogs gave gearharts group great suppresive fire as they quickly moved around to flank the remaining guards. Once they got close Gearhart tolled his men the plan "alright guys I'm going to move up on the left side and pop a few flashbangs over the wall into there little hiding place. Meanwhile you guys creep up from the right and when those bangs go off I want you to rush the guards and take them down with your tazer guns. We need more then one person alive men ." The men took there positions and waited for the bangs to go off. Gearhart creeped up towards the enemy's position. He pulled out his last flashbang and pulled the pin and tossed it over into the guards position. Immediately after the bangs when off the other men rushed the guards position with tazers at the ready. They quickly went through the entrance, saw the screaming in pain guards and fired there tazers. The strings from the tazers flew towards there targets at extreme speed with the soul purpose of digging into the victims flesh and shocking the shit out of them.

When the Romeo squad arrived and asked if they needed assitence Gearhart repleyed back "No assitence neccessary Romeo but I think you want braddock right?" The wardogs picked up the uncoiscous Braddock and survivoring guards halling them towards the Romeo squad.

Off shore:
The raiding party arrived back on the R.U.S Fulcken tired, shocked at the loss and other emotions. There FFW gear was all trashed and battle scared along with the men themselfs. A ceremony was held for the men who died during the raid. Eleven caskets sat with Ustian flags over them as a gun salute started. They admiral gave a short speech on there behave. "These men lying here today died not just for there country but to save another country.
