Russia was exhausted after finally shutting down most of it's revolutionary elements. It was now quiet as the Romanov dynasty finally started to listen slightly to the Duma. It's own exhaustion working somewhat to it';s benefit as it silently listened to Europe.

Meanwhile, in France, a new sun was rising. Not only a new day, thought Armand Fallières as he watched the sunrise from his balcony. Another lifetime, one of toil and blood, if France was not prepared. That was what he had to expect, what he had to prepare for.
France had lost the territorries of Alsace and Lorraine to Germany long ago, though not long enough. Nationalist forces in France were growing stronger by every passing hour, and the voices calling for reconquest of the the provinces grew mightier and louder. People were demanding an expansion of French territories to its ''natural borders'', and the doves were quickly losing ground. Violence appealed to the masses, and the nationalist spirit of the late 19th century had not lost strength, on the contrary it seemed stronger now than ever before. In Germany, in France, in England. If Armand was to remain President, he had to act quickly to quenchthese voices, or else the people, la plèbe as well as the finer castes, would surely see to it that he was remvoed from his position.
Armand took another sip of his champagne and beheld the sunrise. Tomorrow he would have to discuss certain matters with Briand, Pichon and Brun.

Hermes Rodrigues da Fonseca played around with a glass of wine for a while.
"Sir!" A man entered holding a report in his hands.
Hermes extended his hand and quickly read the report befor in a fit of anger grabbing it and throwing it onto the ground.
"Damn this!!" Hermes sat back angerly. Enviromentalists had once again tied themselves on trees... in the Brazilian rain forest. Hermes slowly envoked the most basic calming method known to man.
"1...2...3...4...5..6..7...8..9...10" Hermes took a deep breathe.
"I will not allow Brazil to fade into blank pages in history.." Hermes rose up.
"Brazil will be reborn...we will seek out friends with the intention of helping those who wish to help us."
"It'll probably take a lot of work...and a good deal of outside help though"
"Sir..are you sure what country would pay attention to us?"
Hermes smiled softly "Brazil has potential...we have an abundant amount of resources and a large working class...people who can see potential and are willing to have a friend, will come..."
(Basic overview)
At the turn of the century, Brazil is undergoing massive reforms. It is building railroads across the country, however is undergoing protests against the rapid destruction of the rainforest although several areas have been set up as nature preserves. Hermes has taken office a few years ago and is continuing a industrailization process while obtaining science, books, and technology from other countries, in any way possible even in some cases using black market networks, although they no longer use it after certain countries came close to exposing them. Brazil also has been looking for new allies which remains a important part of Brazil's current policies.

Kaiser Wilelm sat in Grand Admiral Tirpitz' office, smoking his cigar. He didn't look at Tirpitz, who sat right in front of him, and said "Damn! Bismarck was right. What is the point in having the second most powerful fleet in the world if we have to go up against the British."
"In another ten years our fleet will surpass theirs," Tirpitz replied.
The Kaiser stared directly into Moltke's eyes, saying "And if, God forbid it happens at all, war breaks out before then?"
Tirpitz remained silent.
The Kaiser then made one of the impulsive decisions he was known for, "That's it, we are discontinuing production of all surface ships, send a letter to the British, we must try to improve diplomatic relations."
Tirpitz was stunned, "You can't do that your majesty, I and Germany have worked so hard to make us the greatest. Please don't quit now."
"My mind is made up, Admiral, I never wanted to be anything but allies with Britain, and if I can't be allies I at least won't be enemies."

Across Italy the people demanded the government take back Italia Irredenta (Unredeemed Italy). Trentino, Trieste, Dalmatia, Istria, South Tyrol, Gorizia, Ticino, Nice, Corsica, Malta - all demands by the people. Reasons varied - although most sited that many of the unredeemed lands spoke Italian or used it as their official language. Most of the anger was focused towards Austria, who held the areas of fiercest resistance.
The Italian government has announced that Austria-Hungary must return Trentino, Triesta, Istria, South Tyrol, and Gorizia. Many believe that Italy may go so far as to invade Austria for the territory.

Germany also calls for a peace summit between itself, Italy, and Austria-Hungary. The dispute over Trentino, Triesta, Istria, South Tyrol, and Gorizia must be solved.

Ooc. This is an introduction to my part of the RP. In here I’ll announce my planes, but they remain SIC (Secret In Character) for now. Once building of stuff will start you guys will probably know something is going on. :D
The dawn of a new decade.
The new year had begun and now the senior officers, a few members of the Diet (Japanese Parliament) and government officials had gathered for the Emperors new years banquet. While they all gathered and waited for the Emperor to arrive and begin the ceremony a few ministers and officers were talking. Mostly about the plans he had for the coming year. One of the groups consisted of General Fukuoka, Chief of Staff, Admiral Togo, Commander of the Imperial Japanese Navy, General Sukoka, Commander of the Imperial Japanese Army, Prime Minister Katsura Tago and Minister of Interior Affairs Bugu.
Bugu: “And what do the gentlemen expect? Will his Imperial Majesty decide to go on the aggressive tour and announce a military build up? In the recent years we had a rise of power. I think we now need tools to construct a house, neh?
Fukuoka: “Probably, or at least I hope so. Japan has the capabilities to become a major power in the Far East, and even in the world. He’s has mentioned something in that direction. But let’s ta…”
At that moment it was announced that the Emperor was about to arrive. All the men quickly sat down and bowed as the Emperor walked in, accompanied by his secretaries and guards. Everyone cried as one:
” Tenno Haika Banzai!”
The old Emperor Meiji smiled and gestured to them that they could sit down. He took a sheet of paper from a scribe and began his speech.
“My fellow countrymen! My followers, helpers and right hands! (Meaning the military men here) You have all gathered here for the New Year’s reception, but more importantly, you are here to hear firsthand my plans for Japan in the coming decade.
One of the first things we will actively try to achieve is the full incorporation of Korea and Liaoning in the Japanese Empire. To reach this goal we must start a Japanese Language Course for every adult in these territories. The People must “feel” Japanese and in time they will become Japanese.
An overall educational reform will be enforced. All children in the Empire will enter Primary School when they turn four. In the following eight years they’ll learn to read and write Japanese, basic mathematics, biology, music, arts, geography, history of the Empire, Imperial Nationalism Courses and Physical Education. The Imperial Nationalism Course is intended to “indoctrinate” the pupils, learning them that Japan is the most glorious country there is. Physical Education is intended to increase their physical condition and prepare them to serve the Empire in the future. When they turn twelve, pupils will go to Secondary School were they will continue their educational life. There they’ll learn advanced Mathematics, Advanced Japanese Language and Culture, Biology, Basic Chemistry, Basic Physics, Basic Economics, Advanced History and Geography of the World and the Empire, Arts and of course the Imperial Nationalism Courses and Physical Education. This stage will take five years, and after that pupils will continue to schools, universities and academies were they’ll learn their trade. This will take three to five years.
Now I’ll turn once again to our overseas domains. For the sake of simplicity we should absorb Liaoning in the Korean Administration System.
To increase our popularity investments should be made in Korea, Formosa and Southern Sakhalin. This money could be invested in, say, healthcare, education, infrastructure etc.
Per year, the following sum will go to the following territories:
-10 million/year to Korea/Liaoning (100 million in ten years)
-2 million/year to Sakhalin (20 million in ten years)
-3 million/year to Formosa (30 million in ten years)
As for matters in the Empire as whole, we will increase support for our industry and trade. More factories must be constructed; more shipyards must be build to increase our production.
On the Foreign Field our goals are simple: be everyone’s friend, but be the best of friends of certain countries. With certain countries I mean of course Great Britain (a murmur of approval went through the audience), the United States of America, France, Germany and…China (everyone looks around, simply stunned). Yes, China. I think China is closer to us than, for example, Germany or Great Britain! They are fellow Asians, but unfortunately they are in a far worse position than we are. They are divided in different spheres of influence by western powers. Together, Japan and a liberated and free China can rule Asia and the world, in spite of our common history.
We must try to guarantee the supply of resources for our industry. We must try to acquire either Indochina or the Philippines, but at least we must bring Siam under our control. If possible in a peaceful way.
Now I’ll deal with the most important part of Japan’s plan. The Military Expansion…
In order to secure our position on the world stage Japan should have a well trained, well organized and large enough force to be reckoned with. Thus, after asking the advice of the Chief of Staff and Commanders, I propose the following:
-An increase of 280000 men (infantry and cavalry) in our regular army, thus raising the number from 350000 Infantry and 30000 cavalry to 600000 infantry and 60000 cavalry. This will result to the following list of armies:
1st. Army-100000 infantry, 10000 cavalry (2 Corps, 4 inf. Div. 1 cav. Div.)-Korea
2nd. Army-100000 infantry, 10000 cavalry (2 Corps, 4 inf. Div. 1 cav. Div.)-Korea
3rd. Army-100000 infantry, 10000 cavalry (2 Corps, 4 inf. Div. 1 cav. Div.)-Formosa
4th. Army-100000 infantry, 10000 cavalry (2 Corps, 4 inf. Div. 1 cav. Div.)-Sakhalin
5th. Army-100000 infantry, 10000 cavalry (2 Corps, 4 inf. Div. 1 cav. Div.)-Formosa
6th. Army-100000 infantry, 10000 cavalry (2 Corps, 4 inf. Div. 1 cav. Div.)-Japan
1st. National Army-100000 infantry, 10000 cavalry (2 Corps, 4 inf. Div. 1 cav. Div.)-Japan
2nd. National Army-100000 infantry, 10000 cavalry (2 Corps, 4 inf. Div. 1 cav. Div.)-Korea
1st. 2nd. Line Reserve Corps-50000 infantry-deactivated (ooc. these are current reserves, for the sake of clarity.
To give Japan a good base of recruits in case of war a Recruit Resource Pool will be created, which will consist of 400000 infantry and 40000 cavalry (in other words, enough for 4 entire armies, but it is unlikely that this entire number of troops will be called up). They will receive basic training and in case of war they’ll receive a accelerated training.
The Imperial Japanese Navy must also be strong enough to secure our position in the Pacific and its border waters and at the same time be able to help our Ally Great Britain in case of war.
-2 Dreadnought Battleships
-4 Battlecruisers
-4 Protected Cruisers
-9 Light Cruisers
-20 Destroyers
-5 Submarines
-30 smaller patrol boats (for coastal patrol in the Empire)
This is a large number (ooc. 74 in total!!! :eek: ) ships, and it’ll probably take a decade or more to build all these ships. If possible we could ask either the US or Great Britain to build a number of ships for us.
The last point in my speech is the creation of an Imperial Marine Corps. The total force will be 50000 men, divided in 7 regiments (6 infantry regiments, 1 cavalry regiment). The troops will learn how to wage war on the border of sea and land. They will garrison the major ports and coastal fortresses.

2nd. Infantry Regiment-7500 men-Sasebo
3rd. Infantry Regiment-7500 men-Taipei
4th. Infantry Regiment-7500 men-Pusan

I hope and think that I’ve made my points clear. All of you will receive a copy of my and my advisors proposals. I hope you understand that everything will remain secret until I or my Government decides that the time has arrived to announce our plans, or part of our plans. If you have any objections, ideas or anything else to say, please report to me. I’m interested in hearing your views.”
Everyone bowed and saluted the Emperor as he left the room. Tea and other beverages were brought in. Once again the talking began, and everyone was intrigued by the Emperors plans. All of them had known parts of what His Imperial Majesty had proposed, but the full scale of his plans remained unknown up to now.

Argentina has expanded its army by 10,000 men, raising the total number to 65,000.
New factories are being built around Buenos Aires, and some smaller ones, and in lesser quantities, are being built in Rosario. Argentina has also sent out benefits to immigrants, saying that it will take any, and that there is plenty of room.

The Japanese ship sailed up the Rio de La Plata, towards Buenos Aires. She was escolted by the ARA Almirante Brown, one of Argentina's most powerful warships. The docks were filled to the brim with dignitaries, important citizens, and just about everyone else in the docks, all wanting to see the Japanese. The ship sailed into the dock, were it dropped its anchor. A group of dockworkers ran to the side of the dock, and put a elaborately decorated walkway between the ship and the dock. A carpet was laid out, leading to the feet of the president. Above him, a large banner said "Bienvenidos a la Argentina"(Welcome to Argentina, in both spanish and japanese). The carpet was bordered by Granaderos, the Presidential Guard, who guards the houses of goverment. They are in dress uniform, and they are all 2 meters tall. The president, and the rest of the people on the dock, awaited the Japanese to appear from the ship.

Argentina would be more than happy to allow the French soldiers to share the expertise of our mountain and jungle troops. The agricultural products are being sent right now. After the shipment and your troops, we will have 325 75mm pieces. This is a formidable aresenal, we are willing to send more foodstuffs to France, if we are given some artillery advisors. They will not be needed for long, just until our artillery crews have gained enough experience with them. We also hope that we can enter into an alliance.

The Japanese were flattered by all the attention they got from the Argentine officials and citizens. They smiled and waved while the ship docked at the harbour. Three men stood at the rail and watched the crowd coming closer. They were Lieutenant General Fukuoka, son of the Commander in Chief of the Imperial War college and leader of this delegation, Dr. Susuoka, an enginering expert of the Imperial University of Tokyo and Captain Wakurishima, a promising young Naval Officer and Captain of this ship.
Lt. Gen. Fukuoka jr. :"Well, this is a mighty welcome. Especially after the long tiresome journey."
Dr. Susuoka:"Ah yes. A very friendly people. I believe they are currently celebrating their 100 years of independance aren't they?"
Lt. Gen. Fukuoka jr. :"They are in the middle of the festivities. And I've understood that we're invited to some of the parties etc. Could be fun!"
Capt. Wakurishima:"Indeed! I always love a party! But what do you think about that ship? A fine ship it is..."
Fukuoka:"I think Japan has better ships, but that's my opinion! *laughs* Well, let's get prepared to go ashore."
The delagation assembeled at the gangway, Lt. Gen. Fukuoka at the front. The delagation then went ashore and walked through the rows of the Presidential Guards, awed by their length. At the end there was a small stage (ooc. I think so, if it's different tell me) where Fukuoka began a speech, honoring the President, and hoped the mission would be succesful. (Of course some other diplomatic BS which isn't interesting to RP :D)

And yes, Japan has better warships, but the ARA Almirante Brown is among, if not the, best in Latin America. We have 2 dreadnaughts under construction, and have asked the british to build us one more.

Russia's internal problems led to most of the world keeping their mind off of it, but the Duma, and Nicholas the II were plotting and planning as they attempted to get their country in order.
"We have a request sir." Since the lackluster Revolution in the wake of the Japanese war, he'd been forced to listen to these people. He tried not too, but a very pushy Duma seemed to be able to force him to listen. "We must ask for a few more powers and freedoms. Not too much. Force the people back a hundred years beyond your father and they will revolt again. We must give them a crumb. Perhaps a better vote in their Duma. And if they believe we are heralding power for them, they will be much more likely to listen."
THe czar grumbled, he wanted to be out hunting this night. "Also we have come up with some ideas. Currently we know Japan wants more. They forever desire to push us out. War will come against the Japanese within this decade. We must be prepared. THat is why we are asking for the addition of two new armies to move to the Eastern shore of our country. If Japan threatens our territory, the people will be much more inclined to fight than in an invasion of Mongolia. And we can always use our country to crush them, and then invade." THe czar nodded. It would bring glory to his name. Defeating the stain the Japanese war had brought. THe Duma members smiled, they knew how to get their way.
"We also wish to have a large factory building program, to raise our large population out of it's backwardness. Your ancestor Peter attempted the same thing. In this new century we can raise it even more. Bring us out of obscurity. And with those new factories bring even more ships to our navy. We have a plan to have a navy that matches the Japanese very soon. IN about 2 years if need be." Nicholas looked sceptically. "What about Britain?"
THe duma member's knew that questions was coming. "That alliance is very tentative. We have gotten letters from Germany for friendship. France can deal with the German empire on it's own. WIth us, it would definetly mean war. Have the Kaiser get us peace for Britain." The czar slowly nodded in agreement.

Nicholas the II looked at the mound of paperwork he'd just gone through, attempting to find anything that might make his situation better. A random telegram hit his interest as he picked it up. It took him half an hour to find where Argentina happened to be on the map. Such a small country out of the way, and then he looked through some more reports. He grimaced as he saw the reports of the two British ships that Argentina had sold to Japan. Those two ships probably sunk his battleships off of Tsushima.
That battle had been a mixed blessing. It had lost him the war, but again it had also gotten rid of several horribly managed ships that should have been mothballed years ago. THe new Russian battleships being built to replace them were certaintly going to be much better use. He thought about it, no telegram from Germany. And Japan trying to make a plea for peace. He wondered. His entire Duma wanted war with Japan, but he knew that getting property in a peaceful manner might be good as well. SHould he go the way of Alexander the II and be the peacemaker who helped the RUssian people. Or be Peter the Great who made war, and made the RUssian people proud. Which to be. He wished he could be both. Perhaps he could be. With the mounting tension with Germany and France he might just be able to. As long as he could keep Britain out of it.
To Argentina:
We would like a trade agreement with you, however we must ask what you propose to trade with the Russian Empire. Once the specifics can be decided upon, we would be more than willing to trade with you. Perhaps we may purchase some ships.
To Japan:
An order of peace would be preferable, however we must ask what you wish to do about the current Mongolian situation. Peace can be preferable, but Russia will not give into peace for the price of giving in property that would better serve RUssia.

Argentina has massive amounts of agricultural and mineral products to offer. As far as ships go, we are not able to produce by ourselves anything bigger than a gunboat, due to the small warship-building installations we posses.

Hereby the Empire of Japan and the Republic of Argentina promise solemnly to help each other in case of:
-A direct attack: the other signatory will provide the victim of the attack with economical, military and political aide.

Japan will gladly receive Argentinian officers on it's academy and military facilities. We could both learn from this experience. If you wish it Argentine units can be used to combat actions to get some experience. It may be risky stuff though, be ready for casualties to fall in that case.
As a military officer I'm greatly excited by the proposal of a joint training programme. Japan lacks training in jungle terrain and mountain warfare. Also certain plains could be excellent areas for manuevers I'm told."

"For now, Gen. Fukuoka, we would hope for an alliance just between our countries, in the future however, we would be more than happy to revist this proposal. We wish to send 100 officers for this combat experience, they will undergo Japanese lessons before going into action however. Nothing would be more annoying than having the translator killed and having to communicate in sign language. We also have several aeroplanes, our scientists are experimenting with them, for both gorund and naval roles. Do you have a program like this? and would you be willing to co-operate?"
A man burst into the room, and whispered in the Presidents ear.
"Sorry my friends, urgent telegram. Excuse me." He bowed, as he'd seen the Japanese do, and walked out of the room.

We do not respect, nor do we recognize any form of alliance between any American state with a foreign power. Trade is not an entanglement of American interests, and in fact we very much encourage trade with the European and Asian interests; as long as trades don't become alliances, which then entangle national policies to unavoidable and unwanted consequences that we will not pursue under any circumstance.

[ooc: FYI to all, your alliance craze has become a little too unreasonable...by this time, it is a commonly accepted norm to consent to the Monroe Doctrine [i.e. no foreign troops on American troops except for those that already exist, no political/military involvement in American affairs, et cetera...]. The only person who is actually right on track is Russia [and for the right reason as well!!!]. The only historical precedent in which the Monroe Doctrine was directly violated was the French invasion of Mexico during the Civil War - although immediately afterwards, as American forces lined up on the Mexican border to oust the French, they did pull out. Finally, just because we don't accept alliances doesn't mean that we accept trades and such [of course, being excessively selfish and such, they tax it alot...].
That said, the traditional pre-1945 concept of an alliance was direct political and military support for a nation [training exercises were actually a BIG no-no historically, because it meant hosting foreign powers on their soil, which usually made the citizens very mad, especially in peacetime]. Into the open desert the Shah gazed endlessly, his legs made weary by the ornate leather saddle that dug into his thighs and pelvis. The sun, now just emerging from the mountains in the distance cascaded gold beams of soft light across the wind-swept plains of the Central Asian highlands, bringing with it the swealtering heat of the day and the hordes of insects that bit and stung as they crossed one's path.
However, such inconviences were only minor to this ordained leader for his joy and confidence were too great. Since the year of 1909, he had lived in exile from his country, banned from entrance by a new Constitutional Regime, a regime that sought to westernize and democratize, a blatant disregard of ancient tradition. Such efforts were lead by the Majlis, or Parliament, which now sought to restore control to a country after the outsting of the great Shah while simultaniously promoting the ideals of a new age.
But the Shah had vowed to return and now his promise had been made in full, backed by the thunderous footsteps of thousands of soldiers. These soldiers of the faith, of the Dynasty, equipped and trained by Russian instructors, sought to preserve the culture and traditions of the Iranian people while ousting those who defiled the offices of His Majesty. For weeks they had been marching under the looming peaks of the Caucasus, territories once part of the greater Persian Empire, with determination and steadfastness, ready to kill all those who opposed their God sanctioned ruler.

"It is with great distress that I bring such news that has come to me these hours past!" delcared a young revolutionary at the bottom of the hall in which his fellow constituents sat. "This past morning, with the rising of the sun, the Shah, once held in the lands of Russia, has returned with an army of many thousands intent on re-taking the throne."
A chorus of shouts, cries and curses arose from those present. After all, the country was in chaos. Its armies in the north were poorly prepared for such a struggle, while soldiers around the nation deserted and rebelled with increasing tenacity while the treasury remained empty as economic functions shut down and refugees clogged the streets.
"We must flee to Esfahan!" shouted one deputy.
"No we must stand and fight!" protested another.
"The Shah cannot be allowed to return to power. For the sake of the revolution!" cried one more.
Soon the creeds and calls overwhealmed the assembly, each man debating with three others, why his course of action was greater than the other's. This arguing continued for a time with no one strong enough, or with enough authority to stop such rabble. But, as the afternoon heat settled in, a recess was finally called and the Deputies of the new government filed out of the building and to their homes, unsure as to what the future lay in store for them as the red sands blew with greater strength.

An alliance between France and Argentina - while respectable - does not serve in the greater interest of the people of the Americas. We must vehemently protest this call, seeing as it is part of our obligation to ensure the safety of the American continents for all Americans.
We respect the position of our European friends across the ocean, seeking to secure better footholds on the affairs of the world. However, we feel that the situation in Europe would become to volatile and thus suck the American people into a conflict there, and as much as we do not wish to become entangled in European affairs, we request that you do not seek to entangle yourselves in American affairs. There are no interests in America that would better serve your country, save the territories that you currently possess. Your government shouldn't make such hasty actions in the Americas, to make formal alliances with any American state.
Therefore, we implore your government to terminate this alliance between your two states.
The government of France has no intention to end our good relations with Argentina, nor have we any intention to let Amercian policy dictate French actions. The Republic of France is a sovereign nation, an independent nation, and we will not have the Unites States of America trying to lord any European power around. The French ship sailed up the Rio de La Plata, towards Buenos Aires. She was escolted by a small flotilla of Argentinian gunboats. The President, important citizens, buissness men, and whoever was in or near the docks, came to see the event. The French ship came into the dock, where it dropped anchors, and stopped. An elaborately decorated walkway was put between the ship and the dock. A carpet was streched from the end of the walkway, to the steps of a podium, where the President accompained by other dignitaries, stood. After having experience with the Japanese arrival, much more police were on the scene this time, and the crowd was pushed back. This allowed for a band, and twice as many Granaderos as last time. Everyone waits eagerly for the French to appear, the band has orders to start playing the La Marseillaise as soon as the first Frenchman appears.

The king has also allowed the Pope to form a 100-man Holy Army to defend holy sites in Rome. Soldiers are restricted to be inside Rome at all times while on duty and are considered a branch of the Italian Army, although they aren't actually used for war.
Lastly, following King Emmanuel III's plans to build a formidable Italian Military and the new sources of natural resources in America, plans to build a 500,000-man army have been put into place. The recruiting goal of 200,000 new soldiers is to be met by the end of the year (not counting training, organizing, etc.).

"The Shah, he is coming!" screamed the bellman as he paced around town, helping the fleeing families of those who wished to escape the city at this dire moment. Since the announcement of the autocrat's return, the majority of northern Iran was abandoned as those who knew very well the reprecussions that were to be brought on them by their former leader, packed everything of value and fled south towards the capitol.
As one of the largest cities in Northern Iran, as well as being a major crossroads for trade, it was not hard to imagine that the wrath of this invading army would soon fall upon the city and all those who remained would surely perish. Thus, in only a matter of days, all those able and willing to leave left, leaving behind a small contingent of men and boys, armed with old rifles from the generations before them, along with the throngs of the elderly and sick.
With the noon day sun now fast approaching its highest peak, the glistening cannonry and rifles of the Russian-equipped army warned those remaining of the approach of the Shah. And, after locking their remaining loved ones into the cottages and huts around, the remaining men and boys quickly came to the center square of the town to make an army.
At the forefront of this force stood the bellman, nearly 6 feet in length and 2 feet in girth with a full black beard and piercing blue eyes. As a greatly respected among among the townsfolk, he naturally assumed command when the town officials, along with the Mayor, scampered to the south. Now, as he looked at each man, his eyes burned with a firey passion, his countence filled with determination.
"Townsman, we stand now to protect our homes and those we love. The Shah's army, although certainly potent, have not the same spirit that we do. We are the embodiement of courage. The embodiement of strength. So let us fight to the death if Allah wills and not give one inch of ground to those pigs above!"
A collection of chants and cheers were made by the assembled force of less than one hundred, greatly motivated by their leaders words.
"Now, we must fight togehter. Let not one man stray more than 20 paces from the other. Otherwise, we will be hunted down and killed like dogs. Naturally, the Shah will attempt to take the town from the north as it is the most expidient way to enter the city from that direction, so our stand is at the Northern gates and houses."
"If wounded, have the man next to you take your life and if he is dead, take your own for the Shah will kill all who resist his wake and in the most terrible, most painful way possible. I am sure Allah will understand in the after-life."
Lifting his rifle into the air, he let it fall towards the oncoming army.
"Quickly my friends, this way. There is not much time left!"
Each man huddled ahead through the narrow streets, knowing this day was their last.

"Your Highness." began an old general who sat behind the Shah upon his white stallion. "The soldiers will be in place momentarily. Your orders?"
Placing down his golden binoculars, the Shah simply turned and similed warmly.
"Have my cannons blast the outer perimeter. Then unleash the Calvary and have them mop up whatever is left."
"Yes, of course, Your Excellency." replied the General, riding off to inform his fellow constituents.
A few moments later....
A hollow lead ball, filled with powder, is placed into the barrel of an assembled battery of 7 howitzers, each dusty and worn from the journey. Upon the orders of the commander of the battery, the breech is closed, the fuse is placed into the barrel and a lanyard attached. Then, with the magical word of that same commander, the first shots of the counter-revolution were made.
FIRE!!
BOOM! BOOM!
A cascade of shells flew into the air at unparalleled speed, smashing into the outer limits of the center city with tremendous force, knocking over the structures that stood while kicking up dust all around.
Another round is loaded in each of the guns, its barrels adjusted for more accuracy as their previous shots flew too short. Again the same process with the same magic word at the end of it.
FIRE!!!
Another volley of shots, 7 strong, fall into the city, emitting a great roar that shook the very earth beneath the army while more buildings fell, more fires sprag from the earth and more dust was kicked up.
This samy process repeated several more times until the order was given to stop. By then, a detachment of Calvary, two hundred and fifty men strong, was assembled and ready, pistols and falchoins at the ready. Moments later the trumpet was blown in a small cadence signaling a slow trot.
Calvary advance!
That was the order and the Calvary did their best to satisfy it, moving at a slow to moderate pace somewhat in line, although it was obvious not enough drilling had been performed up in Russia. Then, as the force got closer and closer to the city, another cadence was blown, this one slightly faster than the first.
Calvary, full trot!
The pace quickened and the horses approached a near gallop, the city quickly approaching now. At 5000 yards, the last cadence was made, signaling a full charge.
Calvary, charge!
And charge they did. The first few shots from the defenders now erupted from the muzzles of old flintlock and precussion cap muskets, failing to knock over any of their quickly approaching advesaries. Within one hundred yards another volley of fire emerged from the remaining houses and burrows, again failing to halt the charging force. By then it was too late.
Although the dust was thick and the roads were narrow, the pistols and swords of the Calvary, along with the power of their galloping steeds, smashed through the defenders lines with little to no effort, cutting down dozens in only seconds. In such close quarters, a bloody melee ensued with defenders and attackers brutally smashing, bashing, stabbing and piercing each other with any object they could find.
On the side of the road, the bellman, covered in the blood of his comrades, knew not what to do. His efforts were in vain. The defense had all ready fallen apart. To his left, a lowly shoemaker was disembowled by the sabre of a surging Calvary officer, his intestines, now only a pinkish redish goo, fell to the floor as the soul shrieked in terror as two other enemies proceeded to hack his limbs and head to pieces.
Just then, as the bellman came to raise his rifle to fire one more shot, a falchion from an oncoming Calvaryman tore through his neck from behind, the pure force of the blow knocking the unfortunante leader to the ground where he lay helpless and dying. Then, with the cruelty of Satan himself, the same man who had struck him down approached, a grin on his grimy face and his weapon ready to cut once again.
"M...May the Gods have mercy on me." whsipered the bellman, pulling his rifle up to the base of his chin before pulling the trigger.

The gun misfired, its shot failed to go off. After realizing the failure of his suicide attempt, the bellman simply wailed as his enemy stood over him and began to cut.
"You won't need these any more." sneered the evil little man as he tore the eyes of the bellman from his face, splatter warm red blood onto his green over coat.
"Oh and you wont need this neither." said the same man, slashing the nose from the bellman who only screamed in pain.
The same process continued for several minutes before the once buxom bellman was no more than a chopped piece of meat, his torso peeled open, organs removed and appendages cut and hanged from the buildings around the site of his death.
30 minutes after the battle had begun, the entire defending force was dead. Brutally mutalated by those who had attacked them. Then, with the same tenacious and statanic urges, the men went from house to house, pillaging all they could find while killing and raping all those they found. By late afternoon, the massacre was complete. The bodies of the dead, now sliced in every which way, hung from the battlements and homes, ever so silent. Meanwhile, the Shah, after viewing the carnage with delight, ordered the town to be set afire but not before he collected his own throng of women and went to meet his army, now marching to the east.
It was hoped such atrocities would be noted for the wrath of God had just been delievered and it would be a long time before the fires of doom subsided.

Franberry, as Italy suggested there are plenty of nations that would be willing to lend their expertise. Seeing as how I had Germany abandon their naval buildup they should have plenty of experts that are out of jobs. Of course Germany doesn't want to lose such an important resource so we are still paying them to design; Germany just isn't building anything, so I could lend their talents to anyone who wants them.

King Peter of Serbia wishes to create better ties with his neighbours, specifically Italy. The King has heard Italian banter that it is interested in Balkans affairs and Serbia can help. To make up for the loss in naval power by selling these ships Germany is building two new battlecruisers and 100 minehunters.
OOC: The rundown cruisers are pretty crappy but some of the coastal defense ships aren't too bad. The Ägir was actually removed from its coastal defense role and back into action at the start of WWI until 1916. The auction price for all the ships is starting at their scrap value. Although to Germany and other powers that can build nice new ships the rundown cruisers are actually of more value as scrap (or relagated to other civilian duties), to certain nations (Argentina, Ottoman Empire, etc.) they might be worth buying.
Ah, the Lee Harvey Oswald gun. Are you sure you want production rights? Italy is super-industrializing and could probably pop out more guns to sell to you than you could make yourself.OOC:
I would prefer to get the production rights since I don't want my nation's money to go to other nations en masse and with Italy's growing military you'll need them for yourself.
I do know that I want that gun, I've fired it and a couple of those old bolt action rifles and I would say that the Mannlicher-Carcano was the best of the three.

Ah, I did not say Serbia could not start a war; just that Romania didn't become involved. Since there is no Romanian player you can't exactly bend them to your will. And since there have been little changes in the Balkans that would cause Romania to join you, you can't really say yet that they are working to fight me.

And unless I missed something - the Ottoman Empire was not allied with Germany and Austria until World War I started. From what I read, they were just as close to Britain at the time, then Britain alienated them just before WWI. If this has changed, just tell me.
And IRL Russia did support Serbia in winning the Balkans war of 1912-13

Polish Newspaper's start to filter into Bovarian towns over the border, it seems to be a headline.
Crisis in Moscow
This newspaper has recenty found that an accident has occured in Moscow. THe entire royal family has remained tight lipped, though it seems that the entire government has gone under a blackout. No one knows what has occured. It has come to our attention that it may have to do with the heir to the Romanov throne, but we are being told very little at this moment.
Other rumors seem to be filtering from the Polish border, Russian control over that land less than in deeper Russia. The Polish soldiers normally kept as a border patrol seem to be in a tizzy when watched from Germany.

(OOC: By the way, the Triple Entente of RUssia, England, and France was signed in 1907. THat means that Argentina by making a formal alliance with France is imbibing on the Triple Entente and needs to be supported by all three powers, not just one. Russia has already stated it doesn't wish to get into political affairs of America. That means Great Britain is the tie breaker. If GB doesn't want to then France will have to resind it's alliance, or be in danger of losing it's two greatest allies and have to fight Germany alone again. Aka France will not endager it's treaty with Russia or Great Britain for Argentina. THat would be just too unrealisitic. You'd have riots in the streets of Paris.)

The spies bring back news, not of a mobilization, but of a tragedy in the royal family. Even the people are left in the dark, but rumors are flying throughout Russia that range from the death of the Czaravitch. TO the death of the Czarina, to the death of the entire royal family. Their is certaintly an emergency within the Czar's councel as Nicholas seems to be keeping to himself. No one knows what rumors may be true or not true. THe only fact is that Nicholas the II is alive, and keeping his cards close to his chest about what has happened.
THe RUssian Navy is all that seems to have been mobilized, though it seems that it's only actions are to hold manuevers in colder waters near Siberia.

Italy is interested in the German weapons (I don't think Italy has any "modern" machine guns around this time) and wishes to purchase designs for Italian production. Also, although we're going on a spending overload and will probably have a 20-year debt by next year, we are interested in knowing if Germany will spare any advisors or experts for aid on building new Italian dreadnoughts. Having competed with the best of the best, German advisors are probably experts on the best technoligy avaliable, which we hope to equip our two ships in production with.
To Austria-Hungary:
Avoiding war with Russia whenever possible is recommended. However, if Serbia starts mobilizing, don't be afraid to call up your army and ignore any threats by Russia.

Nicholas actually gets the telegram, looking at it with an odd sort of hum. He looks to have aged by at least 10 years already. "Whose on alert?" He asked with a strange look as he looked around. Certaintly the defensive network was a sign of defensive war, but then again it might not be. His telegraphs were not at their height right now, and to tell the truth he'd ordered them to be silent. This telegram simply got through by accident.

THe 14th Army stood on alert, many of the RUssian infantry marching out with it's artillery as it moved towards the border. It stopped, the cavarly looking at the defenses being brought up. The Russians soldiers themselves started to dig, if a possible enemy was building defenses, so would they.

THe Russian fleet looked at the Japanese fleet as it sailed on a parrellel course. A few flags were flown up. "Wireless down at moment. On Manuevers."
THe ships then turned as the captain of the ship let out one long angry sigh. "They always seem to want to follow us. It's so annoying that our fleet has to constantly deal with the Japanese flanking us. Well soon we'll hae a navy to rival hers." He grunted to himself.
The Russian newspapers tell the world what it's been worrying about for months. A RUssian month of mourning has become effective. THe RUssian press talks about an accident in Moscow, of the yougn Alexei incurring an injury that would have been a moderate issue would he have not been an invalid. It seems strange that that accident that the young Alexei incurred has been put into such detail, and yet that it seems to be stifly censored when in relation to the death of the Czarina. It seems as if someone put the lid on specifics.
Russia seems even more depressed than usual.

Losing her youngest son could have brought overwhelming dispair. Which is what happened here. So.....

OOC: Rasputin was known for healing him by hypnotism and that was just during his fits. This happened in an accident which Rasputin was never known for curing. Also Rasputin spent most of his time in the palace, this happened during a review of the army, so not near the palace. And yes that would be, but I haven't gotten to it yet.
IC: Nicholas sat in his office, his head aimed so he looked at his hands as he saw the two men standing there. One was dressed in a hamburg straight from Germany. THe other in full RUssian regalia. "Sir we understand that this is a trying time for you, but I must insist that it is for the throne that you find a "replacement" he tried to make the word not sound as harsh as it was. "And also we must stem the tide of the Duma. It's become much to powerful. They are attempting to bring the traditions of centuries down around our ears."
The man in the hamburg snuffed. "Tradition is fine as long as it doesn't get in the way of progress. We are backward because of such traditions. Do you want the more radical elements to bring change to Russia? The communists and socialists of our country could come back to overthrow everything."
They continued to argue, Nicholas letting them as he stuck in his own depression. His son would never go out with them again. He'd never spend a time vacationing, sitting under the son trying to teach his son to be careful fishing. Seeing his wife with their daughters in a picnic, basking in the summer sun. He might see his daughters do that with their own families. maybe that would be his joy, being an old man sitting under a tree while he watched his daughter's children play. God he hated this job, he hated being Czar, and yet he had it thrust upon him. His despair made these men's arguing grate on his ears.

I request you come to the funeral. Since my wife's homeland is your nation, it would do good to show a unity in this trying time. I wish that it were easier than that. If anything I hope their to be peace rather than hardships, though to tell the truth I wish for certain things to happen.

After several weeks of preparations and frantic traveling to Bulgaria, Montenegro, and Greece, the alliance was prepared. The Pan-Balkan alliance, minus a distant Romania was ordered to mobilize and prepare for (what?). Serb forces have been called up and are prepared to save their brethren and prevent the rise of a stronger enemy to the south.
The allies of Russia and France have pledged support especially since they are obliged to protect the Slavs and Hellenes. All is being readied on Serbia's southern border as the experienced army took positions

A ordinary looking man boarded the liner to Italy. He went to his cabin, unpacked his clothes and went to the upper deck to see the last of Japan glide away. Italy would not be his final destination, he was supposed to go onward to Paris. What he would do there? Only a few people knew. His name? Koyasa Shimizu, Major Koyasa Shimizu.

Koyosa Shimizu had to hurry to catch his train to Paris. He really looked like a hasty salesman or something. He had travelled a long way since leaving Japan. Going by ship to Napels, he then boarded a train for Milan. In Milan he took the train to Lyon, where he was now. Tomorrow he would finally have the meeting, the meeting he had travelled so far for. His mission?
He would contact a well known Russian Revolutionairy and see if they could be used to bring Russia on it's knees. After the recent Chaos, the chance of a revolution seemed to be great...

OOC: Sure bring Lenin over. Of course remember that the Communist were in a world where the threat of a continued ROmanov line helped as well as the problems of the First World War. Bringing out Lenin now where the Romanov line no longer seems a threat with a Duma much more involved than in real life with the concilliations of the Czar being pushed forward wheer in real history they failed. Let's say he'll find a Russia much less likely to fall into Revolution than in real history. Not to mention Lenin was allowed to escape by the RUssians way to many times. You might just try and have him arrive, only to be executed. He is banished after all and I am much harsher to revolutionaries than Nicholas was. *Evil grin* So send all the Revolutionaries you want.

OOC: IF indeed RUssia happens to be starving when you go to war. Not to mention if it's found out, it would be a perfect reason to go to war with Japan. And as the Japanese in real history realized, they can win a short war with RUssia, but if it's a slugging match, Japan will lose and lose big. Why do you think Japan was willing to agree to the US's diplomatic forcing of a treaty during the Russo-Japanese war? Cause the Japanese realized that in a few more months the entire might of the RUssian size was about to fall on their heads. Most people don't know how close Japan actually would have come to ruin if they'd stretched the conflict out longer.

If France joined then Britain would actually be less likely to declare war on Germany. The combined fleet of France and Germany would be nearly a match for Britain's. Unless you meant that you would join on the side of Germany...

Of course if you want to help directly anyway and Russia declares war, Germany would be forced to come to your aid.

OOC: well, we should of course try to avoid a war, but it might be better to support someone willing to be an ally as long as it wouldn't bring everyone else down on us. If Russia doesn't do anything when the Ottomans and the Balkan alliance fight, then it might be better to just watch from the sidelines, because the Ottomans appear stronger then the Balkan alliance.

It came late due to the preparations for the funeral, but Russia sent it's message loud and clear. "The RUssian people see htis current crisis of the Balkins as and only as a war within the Balkins. All greater countries should remain free of it, no matter what. It disturbs me that AUstria-Hungary has mobilized against the Serbs and other Slavs, in a continued action against the Slavic race. I give my word that as long as no Austrian foot lays it's foot on Serbian soul, no Russian foot shall land on Ottoman or Austrian soul. THe instant an Austrian boot does land, however, the entire might of the RUssian army and navy shall fall upon the transgresor. This does not only pertain to Austria. ALL nations who attempt to get involved shall be pushed away, and the grief I have today shall be shared by thousands because you have stayed my hand. Leave this as a Balkan war."

Mobilizing continues in the Balkans and has the look that nothing can stop it. The one-minded determination and hatred of the Ottomans and everything Turkish had seemingly overwhelmed the peoples of the Balkans, especially the Serbs. Nothing would deter them and with the power of Russia behind them, they felt invincible. For too long the Slavs and Hellenes, Bulgars and Christians of the Balkans had been crushed under the oppression of corrupt, evil Sultans in Constantinople. Now was the time to end it, to save the brethren, to bring equality and nationhood to the people.
The Ottoman Empire was weak. The Sick man of Europe had fallen and was without teeth, the slow and steady decline of age and inceptness reaching this empire far before many others. Only recently had the Sultans opened their eyes and seen how far behind they were. It would not be enough, it would not be in time. The Empire was not ready and the Serbs, Montenegrins, Bulgars and Greeks would show that.
Bulgaria has mustered 360,000 troops; Serbia 290,000 troops; Greece 160,000 troops; and Montenegro 40,000 troops. In addition, some 20,000 Croats and Bosnians have been coaxed to join the allies.
The Alliance issued two brief documents today:

The Balkans Alliance has been formed and wishes you nations to know that it intends no aggression against either of your countries. Only the Turks need go down and we want no fight with your nations.
