ic: on the lonely planet in a backwater system a beacon was sending out a simple binary message.

the pulse every 10 seconds would be idenfied as a distress beacon by most races and soon help would come to the crashed ship.

the planet was ordinary with most of the land masses covered with thick rainforest.

Rivers crisscrossed this giant forest which was encouraged by the tropical weather they got all year round.

A Kirisuban warp shuttle was conducting scans of the outlying star systems and the small science ship although not a pretty as her mothership got the job done.

Ensign Fujiko Muira gently landed the warp shuttle about 100 metres from the wreck.

Lt Alyssa Toda checked the scanners for life signs and declared "it looks like theres plentiful lower level lifesigns around the area. I suppose thats to be expected for the terrain.

Nitrogen-oxygen atmosphere and from the position of the sun i'd say we've got a few hours until it gets dark.

Ensign Akechi, send the following back to the Kagemon along with the co-ordinates. We have located a planet that could be suitable for colonisation as well as a wrecked spaceship. We are going to investigate and will report back when we know more."

"Hai, Lt." Ensign Akechi replies and tries to send the message.

She raises an eyebrow and adds "the signals bouncing back to us. Perhaps theres something in the atmosphere stopping it"

Lt Toda frowns and says "it looks like we'll need to report later than planned but we still need to check out that ship"

after gathering there weapons and a flashlight each, Lt Toda along with security offficer, Ensign Mariko Akechi and the med tech, Nurse Asa Kodomo walk to the crashed ship cautiously.

Lt. Toda had picked up 6 lifesigns ahead and she draws her plasma pistol flicking the safety catch off.

the Med Tech does the same and the security officer unslings a rapid fire plasma rifle ready for combat.

"Contact rear, 50 metres" the med tech reports and the security officer whirls round spotting one of the stalkers but holding her fire for now until its intentions can be discerned.

Mariko seen the stalker cover the ground so quickly that she barely had anytime to aim a blast of plasma fire at it as it landed on her.

Mariko Akechi was screaming in pain as the acidic blood burned through her uniform and was eating into her left leg.

The Vagrant Runner, a Zephyr-class gunship, was out on a mission. The Dominion commandos on board, a team of four of the deadly soldiers, raised together from birth as a team, had been knocked far off course by an electrical storm in orbit of Tyris VII, the hyperdrive malfunctioning. The commando team now found themselves far out of Dominion territorial claims, out on the Rim sectors, when a very simple distress frequency was intercepted. The crew was quick to act, the gunship heading down planetside in an attempt to identify the distress transponders.
The Runner soared low over the tropical canopy, but easily visible was a large, crashed warship, having cut threw the dense jungle, a path of destruction laying behind it. The gunship picked out a small patch of clear terrain roughly 100 meters from the crash site, where the small gun craft headed into a landing. The hatch opened, and the first armored crew member stepped out.
Chad Johnson, leader of the commando squad, dubbed "Sarge", was the first out, rifle out in front of him. Sarge glanced around quickly, electronics in his helmet relaying scanning information as he retracted his energy bayonet into his rifle, the presence of danger unseen. Filing out behind him with guns out were the other three members of his squad, "Scope", "Blast", and "Brute", all stepping cautiously out of the starcraft onto the alien soil. The four looked around without communication until Scope finally spoke up.

"Another happy landing, eh, Sarge?"
"Shut up, Scope." said Blast, as he looked around further. "This isn't an ideal situation."
"Just tryin' to make light of a situation..."
"You ain't quite right, then."
"Yeah, kinda like your sister..."

Sarge ignored the two arguing, rifle still out in front of his body.

"Alright, let's move out. Stay alert, let's proceed towards that downed ship."

the nurse runs to her fallen comrade first and after scanning her frowns. seeng the acid has done its work she applies a field dressing and gives Mariko a shot for the pain. Mariko slumps back on the ground and blacks out but is otherwise fine for now.

Turning her attention to the drone she thinks for a few seconds and gets out a roll of special bandages from her med kit. she splashes some water over them and wraps it round the drones leg. within seconds it becomes a plaster cast which should stop the blood from leaking out after it hardens fully.

the drone sniffs the strange thing and cocks its head confused it looked at the nurse and projected one word into its mind thanks the other two stalkers peeled of to go and recon the other craft that had landed

Sarge's helmet sensors alerted him to movement from far off.

"Get low. I think we got company." he told the others.

The four commandos hunched down, rifles out, slowly advancing forward towards the downed ship, roughly 50 meters away now.

Sarge stopped as the telepathic message reached him and the others. He lowered his rifle and motioned for the others to do the same, the four men slowly walking into the open amidst the other two factions.

"you're welcome" Asa replies and gives Mariko a knockout injection so she can sleep.

Alyssa asks the vanguard alien "you said there were two great creators aboard. what happened to the rest of them and are the crew in the ship injured?"

Sarge looked around as the other crews spoke, then finally spoke up himself.

"Um, one of you call for help, or did we all get gigged into coming here?"

Alyssa bows and introduces herself saying "my name is Lt Alyssa Toda from the kirisuban space service. I assume you followed the beacon here as well"

she's asian with long black hair and wears the black trousers and red wrap over jacket of the service. she holstered her pistol by now.

she turns to the great crested stalker and asks "could my nurse check on the surviving crew? they must be in trouble otherwise they wouldn't activate the beacon"

Sarge nodded to Alyssa. "Chad Johnson, Dominion naval commandos. Yup, the beacon got us here after we were knocked off our hyperroute."

he sniffed her curroisly and projected into her mind* you leave weapons here*

Alyssa nods and remembers her pet dog back on New Kirisubo doing something similiar to sniffing a new person they had met.

"Asa, leave your pistol and follow me into" she orders in Kirisuban, the nurse obeying leaving hers alongside her commanders "you may have another patient to deal with"

The commando squad left the others, heading back to the ship to check on supplies.

"Buncha strange people, y'think?" joked Scope.

Alyssa and Asa crawl through the small hole in the hull and turn on their torches so they can see.

they follow the drone sometimes having to take care to step over wreckage and bodies as they're led deeper into the shattered ship.

The Omnipresent Redwood soared majestically over the planet, despite it's small size.

"Suit up warriors. We drop in five seconds!" Oak yelled at the three other indentical panda-men.

The clones layed themselves into their orbital drop pods. Oak followed suit and climbed into his coffin sized craft.

"Drop!" He ordered the pilots.

The two pilots at the front of the craft pressed a few buttons, the orbital drop pods were shot straight out of the ship, they rocketed through the upper atmosphere, quickly descending to the planet's surface.

Oak kicked the door off of his pod, raising his plasma rifle, and swinging it from side to side, searching for a taget. Redwood, Cedar, and Ash escaped from their pods aswell.

"It would appear we missed the ship that sent the distress signal," Ash observed.

He was right, instead of landing right next to the downed ship that the sensors had picked up, the four cloned panda-men had found themselves on the outskirts of the jungle. Oak spat out of rage, he turned to his men.

"We're moving to the target, obviously the fleet is too inept to drop us in the right place. Engage personal shielding systems, I have a bad feeling about this."

The four panda-men each pressed a button on their wrist, a blue light covered them for a second, then dissapeared. They advanced into the jungle.

Alyssa thinks and says "a warp core explosion would usually end up vapourising a ship. you were lucky to be able to crash land"

Asa scans a nearby corpse and says in kirisuban "Lt. it looks like radiation was also released as well"

she hands Alyssa a pill and swallows one herself so they can stay in the ship and complete the mercy mission.

Alyssa and Asa watch as resin handholds are made by the climbing stalkers.

Alyssa nods to her medic and they climb carefully since theirs no ropes.

Two pupilless, ruby red eyes stared out the window of the cramped Spittle Runner and towards the vast jungles of the planet below, in which lay the information so sought. A gloved fingers traced the image of the world in the slight fog of the window as the being forcibly breathed onto its seracore panelling.

"Ten thousand Indats and descending."

Atzan looked up from the window and towards his companion, Zenn, who was crammed in next to him in the pilot's chair. Behind them were Selnat and Abros, the Heavy Guards' dwarfing height blatantly apparent to the foot-shorter Elites. In all, the four were a bit uncomfortable in the quarters, which allowed them as much room as a smallish carpet. Not that it was unbearable, considering their diminutive proportions to the majority of other races in the universe. It was just a little cramped.

"Four thousand Indats and descending. Disabling thruster jets."

The squadron leader took a moment to finish up his chips, cleaning the bag of its nourishing, sodium-enriched crisps before he dropped it into a nearby incinerator shoot that would throw it into the engine's flames. He watched the blue plasma flash green for a moment as the visibly darker splotch of the synthetic bag appeared within their firey embrace, then return to their normal hue once more.

"One thousand Indats and descending. Preparing to switch to standby mode. All personell please prepare for departure."

Atzan unbuckled his safety, readying himself for the disorientating ejection from the ship that would send them plummeting to the ground should anything go wrong. He turned to regard his squad, doing the same as they stood up within their cramped quarters. "Everyone ready?" He watched their nods as they turned to look out the cockpit. "Good."

"Seven hundred Indats reached. Ejection sequence commencing."

The entire party watched as the protective bubble of seracore retracted into the ship's body, leaving them open to the natural atmosphere of the planet as they all mentally prepared for the rude dismissal. A small light flashed on the control terminal, signalling that the procedure was about to commence.

Then they were dumped out of the Spittle as the ship turned itself upside down.

As the group of four fell towards the jungle below, each of them watched their captain for the signal of when to act. He silently watched the small holographic image of a counter that his PAK projected over his right eye, showing the number of Indats left before they would hit the ground. As he saw it reach 70, he made a cut-off sign with his hand.

At the motion, several hatches in their PAKs opened up as strange, turbine-like devices on mechanical appendages extended forth from its insides. As they revved up, they emitted a slight rippling of energy, looking much like the heat distortions in the air caused by a flame, out beneath their engines as the Irkens' quick descent slowed to a leisurely hover. Soon reaching the ground, the thrusters folded back into their PAK's and the team turned to regard Atzan.

"Alright squad. As you know, we picked up foreign vessels entering the area. They likely picked up the same distress signal. We don't know if they harbor hostile intentions to anyone here, so I want us on Code Yellow when we enter this jungle. Now, the ship is still a ways off; we don't want to land so close as to attract the attention of unwanted individuals. So, move out!"

Alyssa nods and lets the stalker do its thing.

Sarge picked up the advancing Panda-men easily...though they were using personal shields, also used by the armor suits of the Dominion squad, they weren't using active camoflauge units at all. The helmet sensors of the men were powerful enough to pick them up, roughly 500 meters away, give or take several meters. Sarge gave the sign for non-verbal contact, then motioned for the squad to follow him. They could never tell an enemy from a potential ally from non-contact with foreign individuals. The squad advanced, crouched at half-stance, creeping through the jungle, personal shields activated and rifles at half-ready, loaded. Sarge picked up the landing Miyukans as well, almost a kilometer off. He decided to deal with them later.

"Agh!" Scope yelled out, "Somethin's got me, Sarge!"

The other three commandos immediately had their guns out, drawing beads on the two stalkers. Brute had his arm blade out, his pistol in his other hand.

"Freeze before I spray your guts everywhere!" shouted Sarge at the two stalkers, "and let that man go!"

The cries of pain and anger stopped Oak dead in his tracks, he sniffed at the air and pointed out a path.

"Men in need of aid. That way!"

The four panda-men growled, and pulled out their energy swords. They ran towards where the yelling originated from, only to be met by a large group of Stalkers, they hissed a challenge at they panda-men.

"Foes!" Oak yelled. He swung his sword at the nearest Stalker, and barked a few more orders.

"Redwood, Cedar! Get to those men in peril, Ash and I will stay here and keep these abominations off your back. Go now!"

Redwood and Cedar activated their cloaks, and ran full pelt towards the sounds.

What they saw before them was two Stalkers putting up a hell of a fight against a small group of armed men. The Stalkers spat acid left and right. Redwood opened fire with his Plasma rifle, and Cedar contented himself with lunging on to the other Stalker, slashing with his superheated energy sword.

Alyssa and Asa finish their climb and continue to follow the stalker thats leading them

just then her torch goes out and she mutters. Asa took over since her torch was still working.

Oak roared as the acid sizzled against his personal shielding, these Stalkers were quite adept at dodging and suprise attacks. At last, his shields overloaded and fizzled out, they would take a few minutes to recharge, time Oak didn't have. He pulled out his plasma rifle in addition to his blade, and began firing. He and Ash activated their Active camoflauge, and climbed up a tree. Oak got on his com to the Omnipotent Redwood.

"Ship, this is Oak, we've encountered hostiles, we need...bigger guns."

Redwood grunted, and chopped a Stalker in half. Cedar gasped, more Stalkers were arriving, Oak and Ash had not been able to pacify the beasts.

"Our foes multiply!" Cedar shouted, stabbing a Stalker through the head.

Redwood chewed the fur around his mouth, and layed his rifle on the ground.

"If you beasts are sentient, we surrender, take us to your ruler" He said.

Cedar scowled, and dropped his blade. He kept his hand on his pistol, just in case.

The Stalkers had not yet managed to locate Oak and Ash, still hiding in the tree with Active camoflauge on. A small beep indicated to Oak that his shields were fully charged. He grinned and armed a plasma grenade, he lobbed it down towards the Stalkers that were still searching for him with a chuckle.

Cedar and Redwood slapped their hands to their foreheads simultaneously, the psychic message had caught them by suprise. The two identical panda-men made quite a show of laying down their weapons, except of course, the one grenade that Redwood managed to sneak under his breastplate.

"You foul curs!" Redwood screamed, he picked up his plasma rifle, Cedar picked up his sword, and they both went tearing off in the opposite direction.

Oak laughed. The grenade they had just kicked was a grenade recovered from a Covenant assault carrier, just like all the other tech the panda-men used, the Stalker who had kicked would find that the grenade had fused itself to the Stalkers's flesh. An explosion was heard, music to Oak's ears.

Suddenly, he saw Redwood and Cedar running a different way, pursued by Stalkers, Oak jumped out of his tree, Ash followed suit. They still had their cloaks on, and by the looks of things, Redwood and Cedar had done the same.
Oak quickly caught up to them, running...straight towards the crashed ship.

back in the warp shuttle Fujiko Muira, the pilot was tending an unconcious Mariko. The ship was locked down and all Fujiko could do was try and keep her friend comfortable and wait for Lt Toda to get in contact again.

Even without Asa's medical training she knew that Mariko had lost a lot of blood before the acid sealed the wound. Either way she had lost a big chunk of her left leg and would have problems walking when she woke up.

Night was about to fall and she closed down everything but comms, life support and the protein resequencer to conserve the ships power. even lighting was at the minimum setting.

Fujiko replaces the weapons she recovered and recharges them in case they need them again. The plasma rifle had been better days but was still working and that was one of the few good things going in the parties favour.

Atzan looked back towards Zenn, her unusual tenuousness highly apparent. He could see the distrustful look in her eyes as she watched the forest, and her curled antenna lying flat against the top of her head.

"I know. Something doesn't feel right."

A hatch opened in the back of his PAK, a spindly arm holding out a pair of binoculars as it fell in to place in front of the squad leader. He grabbed the device and set them to his eyes as the arm retracted into its container.

Looking around, he switched the binoculars to infravision, searching the thick jungle for any sign of life (Beyond the average bird or small mammal, of course). He frowned as he saw the signatures of the Stalkers, if only for a brief moment as they moved within the protection of the trees.

"We've got two targets. Heading this way, taking cover in the trees." He turned to regard his troop, letting the arm holding the binoculars fall to his side. "I want all of you to activate shielding. Set it to a gigawatt." His gaze shifted to Zenn. "As for you, Zenn, I want you up there in those trees. Turn on your cloak."

As the PAKs of Atzan, Abros and Selnat extended the three, thin pylons, set at one-twenty degree angles from eachother, that would initiate the creation of a minor protective forcefield, Zenn activated her stealth suit, fading into the view of the trees. Four long, spindly arms, each with three joints and measuring nine feet, spun out from her pack and rested on the ground, lifting her into the air as they carried her into the canopy of the jungle.

holding the flashlight in one hand she scans the injured man and finds that his diagnosis checks out.

"I can make this man comfortable but he really needs the services of a proper sickbay otherwise he'll die within the day" Asa reports back as she gives him a shot for the pain.

Alyssa asks the other man "is there a functional sickbay on this vessel?"

As the two stalkers fired at the other three, Scope managed to hurdle underneath the two aliens on the other side of them. He had his rifle up in a flash, assault mode on, firing three bolts at the stalkers before diving out of the way. The other three were slowly stepping back, giving ground to the stalkers. Scope joined up with them, and they began moving backwards strategically towards the Miyukan positions, rifles up, ready for a second attack by the two stalkers.

soon theres a makeshift rope made out of two kirisuban space service jackets and the injured man is securely attached to Alyssa's back.

"Lets go" she says to the staker and turns to the other man asking "are you coming along or staying here?"

Asa and Alyssa stand stunned and the chest burster gets away into the darkness.

"what was that creature?" Alyssa asks the drone, her scientific curiosity clear.

Asa checks the other mans pulse and shakes her head.

"whatever it was he's dead" she says quietly.

they climbed down to m,med lab the walked in and found an egg

luckily the lab still had power and Asa was able to work with functional equipment.

Alyssa warily examines the egg ready to assume that she's going to die on this planet but still willing to try to get a report back to the shuttle one way or another.

she gently prods it with a chopstick and sees a creature wriggle round inside.

Lt Toda falls back cracking her head on the floor and unable to defend herself.

Asa being unarmed is unable to help her commander and abandons the medlab running into the darkness trying to backtrack to the shaft.

"I've gotta get back" she keeps saying to her self.

knowing she can't do anything to help she has to leave him, grabbing her medical kit and trying to make her way down to the bottom of the ship.

she climbs down the shaft one level at a time while listening for any other sounds. Two loud noises like explosions attract her attention and she keeps climbing.

once she climbs down 10 levels she emerges to catch a breath and looks round.
