Trade oppertunity to all nations

His imperial majesty of the empire of Imperial Nod, has requested with the unanimous approval of the imperial senate, due to increase in militiary expeniditure and military advances , along with huge surplus of uranium, we are pleased to announce that military and nuclear technology assitance is being offered by Nod.

Any nation that is prepared to accep the assiatnce of our glorious nation then please estabilish diplomatic enquiries with our UN ambassador.

This message is also to be noted well by our nations natural enemies.

Any nation that disproves of our agreements and exchanges with other nations then it would be strongly advised that such displeasure be kept silent. And any agression will be challenged!

Brettonian Foreign Ministry

The International Community is becoming progressively less tolerant of nations posessing substantial uranium reserves seeking to make a profit in the nuclear-hungry world.

To this effect, and to mutual benefit of both nations, we are prepared to purchase your entire mineable uranium reserve at the earliest opportunity. Such a massive sale will provide your national coffers with an extrordinary boost, and will further our goals of nuclear deterrance by allowing us to expand our warhead arsenal to even higher numbers. It will also remove you from the ire of those who aggressively persecute "nuclear banks" worldwide for their own idiotic agendas.

Be in touch.

Brettonian Air Base, mountainous region

Chancellor Donner had arrived personally, despite the bitter cold, to see off the fleet of Arbiter II bombers (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=452252). Their payload now primarily consisted of antishipping, antiradiation, and antiaircraft missiles. As the stealths passed the air base's control tower, each crewmember saluted in its direction. The Chancellor and his bodyguards, braving the inclemate weather, returned the salute from an external observation platform. In short order the bombers were in the air, contrails already forming due to the high moisture and biting temperature.

Brettonian Ministry of Defense

Amid growing tensions in Imperial Nod's backyard, as it were, we have begun dispatching air assets to the region to act as a buffer against aggression. We will continue to patrol Nod's airspace until such a time as the bloodsucking anti-nuclear foreign forces have withdrawn to a safe distance. For the purpose of this doctrine, the 'safe distance' shall be determined by Nod's defense ministry.

We can and will neutralize any foreign assets that act in a hostile manner.

You have been warned.

ASROC = Anti-Submarine ROCket. It's a torpedo mounted to a rocket booster. The rocket proells it to its target, then the torpedo detaches, hits the water, and dives into its target. They're great for both aircraft and surface ships wanting to take out submarines before they're within torpedo range.

Brettonian Air Defense Ministry

Fools! Revealing the extent of your missile technology is an unforgiveable folly! You must not act in this capacity in the future. Hot-headed defense commanders may interpret these launches as a nuclear strike as respond accordingly before realizing the nature of your bluff.

Nuclear weapons are NOT toys, and you should not treat them as such.

In any case, satellite observation has suggested that enemy foreign assets are withdrawing, though we will not know for sure until our forces arive in your local airspace.

Assuming they have begun pulling out, we would like to return to the bargaining table about that uranium. Remember, we seek your entire mineable reserve for our uses, and intend to pay handsomely for it.

Imperial Military Command, Holy Empire of Isochronous

Field Marshall von Nien had assistants furiously bringing maps and intelligence data onto the widescreen in the central command area, where only the highest rank military officials in the military are permitted to enter.

"Field Marshall, as you suspected, the Emperor is in the capital of Imperial Nod amidst increasing instability. Those Brettonians have a large force in the area, initially deployed to fight Pythogria, but now there are rumours they may use those forces to force the Nod to cede the uranium", said Captain Trouin.

"The bastards!", said Rear Admiral Churchill. "Why didn't someone advise the Emperor to meet in a neutral location or wait until things settle down?"

"Men, quiet", said Field Marshall von Nien. "The solution is simple. Have those silos retarget to Brettonian targets, and ring up Air Commodore Stockdale at the RIAF base. We ordered 1,000 of those new F-26 Locust STOVLs; and we're receiving them as we speak. Get 250 of those planes in the air, and have them patrolling Imperial Nod airspace. In anticipation of things getting ugly we must secure the air.

"As a naval person, we should be shelling the pricks on the shores and blowing them to bits! There's 50 Collins Class submarines sniffing about their waters, and I'll get 35 Adelaide Class destroyers to supplement the current fleet there. We're completely locking down Imperial Nod waterways with a naval armada forming the blockade, and anyone who tries to trespass can expect to be obliterated." said the Rear Admiral.

The Field Marshall was pleased they had worked out a plan to combat this newfound contingency. "Mobilise a further 50,000 troops on high alert", snapped the military chief. "And get the Tactical Helicopter squadron on standby, and get as near Nod as possible. All in preparation of the emergency extraction of His Majesty the Emperor, and secondly, Foreign Minister Kennett".

The Makaarian government will send diplomat Jessica Lynchberg and his entourage to the negotiations. We are probing the use of uranium for peaeful means.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

"You ready?" the colonel said. As 'Jessica' grabbed her pistol, she nodded and slid it into her jacket. The Royal Guard agents behind her were checking their weapons as well. Only two wore the uniforms of the Royal Guard, and their blue-rimmed caps indicated that they were members of the Diplomatic Protection Squad, tasked with the safety of diplomats across the world. In fact, they were members of the Special Forces unit, and would be there to ensure that no uranium sales took place.

They stepped out onto the runway as a BAe 146 finished refuelling. The pilot opened the door and the beautiful young 'diplomat' thanked him and moved up into the aircraft. She was handed a briefcase containing the information on the nation of Imperial Nod, where she was headed, and she stood and briefed her men from it as the plane took off into the air. During an official Makaarian flight, the cool flight attendants would stand during the 45 degrees ascent as if it didn't affect them at all. The really cool ones would get on with stuff like photocopying and bringing tea to the passengers.

OOC: Makaar here, after a loooooooooooong break from RPing, I'm ready to meddle in the affairs of smaller nations once again! And by the way, the weapons that my people are carrying aren't made of metal, so that they can avoid being detected, and they're hidden in pieces to be assembled later, so that if they're searched, they won't be found easily.

Secret Underground Bunker, Imperial Nod

Isochronous Foreign Minister, Sir Jeffrey G. Kennett tabled to the Nodians the various agreements he and his department drafted to have the two Empires ratify for mutual benefit. These treaties included a formal military alliance, a free trade pact with an Inter-Empire Council being held annually with the respective Sovereigns and Ministers all attending.

Kane gave a quick glance over the agreements and smiled. " I feel these are certainly to our equal benefits. May this day be met with forever glory" Kane raised his drink in a gesture of a toast.

Emperor Nicholas I was pleased that the Nod had agreed to ratify the treaties. As much as he wanted to stay longer, the deterioriating security climate meant that he was being extricated by the Tactical Helicopter Squadron, along with his trusted Foreign Minister Kennett, and whisked away back to Isochronous.

Meanwhile, more men, ships, and planes of the Imperial Isochronous Military arrived in the Nod. Field Marshall von Nien sent an encrypted transmission to the Nod:

Advise-total lockdown/all borders/waterways/airspace/immediately. Unconfirmed threat to sovereignty detected.

It wasnt long afterwards did the message come through from the Isochronians.
"Advise-total lockdown/all borders/waterways/airspace/immediately. Unconfirmed threat to sovereignty detected"

Kane wasnt preturbed by the news infact he was quite the opposite. He was waiting for this to happen and now it was here.

" This is General Grevious of the Nod high command. All troops are to be on full alert. All local militia leaders must remain vigilant. above all DEFEND THE EMPEROR WITH YOUR LIVES!"

The gargantuan Brettonian heavy lift transports were slowly wheeled off the airstrips and into nearby unoccupied space, their half-mile-wide wingspans would otherwise prove a problem to Nod air assets should they need to get airborne quickly.

General Eizenburg, flanked by a squad of twelve-foot-tall Stahlkörpe (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=447922) assault suits, descended from the lead transport. Eizenburg furrowed his brows as he observed the Nod facilities around him.

"Such garish archetecture, really..." Eizenburg remarked.

"Indeed, sir," the aide remarked, adjusting his glasses. "The base's command center is over there, based on the maps we recieved earlier. We shouldn't keep the commander waiting if we're going to make a positive impression on the Nod leadership."

"Quite so, yes," Eizenburg nodded. "Chop chop, boys!" Eizenburg snapped his fingers. The six assault suits followed him and his liasion as they headed for the command center, where a reception had hopefully been prepared.

"Right, you know the drill," Jessica turned and spoke to her group as they made their way to the hotel. "Assemble your weapons now. Silencers on, stay vigilant. We'll take a look around this place later. Until then, you stay in character. No more speaking Sfren-tak, we speak Makaarian only."

Sfren-tak was the southern Makaarian dialect from 2,000 years ago. No one spoke it as a first language, though it was still taught in Makaarian schools, and Makaarian agents learnt it so that they could communicate without being overheard and having their conversations translated. Many ordinary Makaarians still spoke it while on the way to put together computers and play Dungeons and Dragons: Super-Chess Edition because they thought it made them look cool. It didn't, and besides, their version was corrupted with bad grammar, while that used by Makaarian MilIntel was perfect.

The team made their way into the hotel. One took notes in code, which would be passed on to contacts in Imperial Nod and transmitted back to Makaar later.

As the doors opened, the half-dozen six-ton Stahlkörpes (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=447922) disengaged the safeties on their rifles and began covering the Nod personnell. General Eizenburg held up a hand, and the assault suits seemed to remain calm.

"There's no need to resort to violence, gentlemen," Eizenburg seemed perfectly well-paced and in control. His two adjutants, on the other hand, had nervously reached for their sidearms. "We can all benefit from mutual cooperation. The document?" The male liasion, eyes still rapidly darting about the room behind his spectacles, quiveringly drew a manila envelope from his atache case and handed it to the General. Eizenburg opened it and removed a set of papers on high-quality paper and featuring Brettonian letterhead.

"If you'd care to view our most generous offer," Eizenburg tented his fingers, "we are prepared to offer you J$20 per kilogram of raw uranium. At the current exchange rate, that levels out to NS$33. In a recent deal, we paid LA Ice's Combatech NS$37 per kilogram of already highly-enriched uranium." He gestured to a number of charts on the second page. "To you, this would be a virtual steal. What more, you would not have to be concerned about further foreign aggression on those who seek to shut down 'nuclear banks,' a very prevalent attitude among the international community in this day and age."

"General," one of the assault suits began speaking through an amplified voice, "this wasn't part of the plan. They obviously can't see what a deal this is, so let's get out of here!"

"Quiet!" Eizenburg snapped. He resumed speaking to the Nod base commander, "You stand only to gain by this proposition. I trust you will withdraw your rhetoric and dogmatic approach to this situation, and accept our exceedingly generous offer while it is still on the table. Despite your distrust of our overtures, we can still work out a fabulous business arrangement, and perhaps even a mutual friendship, if only you would see the obvious perks of this offer."

"Negotiations are over. We depart," Eizenburg flatly remarked, standing up. His liasions quickly followed. The six assault suits formed up around them, creating a virtual wall of armor. As Eizenburg, the aides and their armored bodyguards exited the command center, he removed a cigar from inside his greatcoat. "Light."

The female aide removed a plain brass Zippo from her coat and lit it.

"Contemptuous, simply contemptuous..." Eizenburg grumbled, chawing on the tobacco. The detachment boarded heavy lift transport again; other aspects of the air fleet were taxing for takeoff already.

Brettonian Central Command, mountainous region

Deep under an outwardly-unassuming mountain, the Brettonian leadership was discussing their options.

General Eizenburg finished up his presentation of a video transcript taken by one of the Stahlkörpes at the 'negotiations' with the mysterious Nod leadership.

"As you can see," Eizenburg began, "they've lost it. No idea what's right and what's wrong. They'd rather fight us than make an utter killing over that damn uranium."

"I agree wholeheartedly," General Hetzer nodded. "If they want war so badly, I don't see why we shouldn't give it to them."

"I'll make the proper arrangements right away, then," General Bresler said. As the head of the Foreign Ministry, it was his job to assure a proper proclamation came out if any foreigners stuck their noses where they didn't belong.

"What if these Nod psychopaths decide to explode the mines?" Chancellor Donner inquired, quirking an eyebrow. Bretton's supreme leader had remained silent up until that point. "It's obvious to them what we want, and it would be a serious political slap-in-the-face to our progress."

"I wouldn't worry too much about that, sir," Hetzer remarked. "Even if they do destroy the shafts, it'll be nothing we can't quickly excavate."

"I see," Donner remarked, remaiming behind his tented fingers. "Very well. Do your jobs, gentlemen; see to it that those Nod filth remember the fine Brettonian name, and that their uranium will be fueling our strategic deterrance assets. Good hunting."

"Sir!" the Generals stood up and saluted as the Chancellor departed.

Elsewhere

In preparation for any counterattack the Nod forces might be able to launch, Brettonian Aerospace Defense Command had shifted to high alert. Before General Eizenburg had even returned, alert orders had already been dispatched to all aerospace defense assets. The enormously powerful HSCDEADGR (http://www.freewebs.com/bluebomber2/aerospacetech.htm) arrays, always actively scanning for enemy contacts, were further enhancing their search criteria to match threats that could concievably come from Nod air assets. Across the nation, thousands upon thousands of surface-to-air missile batteries became linked to these arrays, ready to pulverize anything that flew into their vicinity. The coastal batteries, armed with the enormous 78cm railguns, scanned the horizons for anything suspicious. Even the gigantic anti-orbital guns had been brought online; it was unlikely Nod had any spacecraft, but no chances would be taken.

The Brettonian air fleet of BA-104B Arbiter II (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=452252) bombers were equipped with High-speed Anti-Radiation Missiles (HARMs) to silence Nod's early warning and fire control radar systems in advance of the general bombing of targets of opportunity. They'd be airborne within a few hours.

General Eizenburg had just gotten back to his headquarters when the alarm klaxons began ringing.

"Status!!" he demanded, throwing his hat off as he assumed his position in the commander's chair.

"HEADGEARs picked up something wierd above us! It's probably an enemy asset; we're preparing to shoot it down," his aide reported sharply.

"Make it so, then!" Eizenburg snapped.

The pirated transmission frequency had been traced back to the 'Fist of Nod,' which was now a giant bullseye to thousands of Brettonian air defenses. Innumerable surface-to-air missile batteries sprang to life, illuminating the cloudy sky with smoke trails as they sailed towards the heavens. The real cacaphony came from the gigantic anti-orbital gun batteries. The massive 78cm railguns, football fields long, aligned with the target and began crackling with static electricity as gigantic capacitors beneath their blockhouses charged up. Blue lightning coursed down the sides of their barrels as the magnetic rings inside began humming ever louder. Critical charge reached, the guns fired. The solid slugs, visable only as translucent red ovoids, were present for a millisecond as they left the barrels, then were gone, likely already striking their target. Bretton's nearly constant cloud cover was instantly annihilated under the 'Fist of Nod' as the sheer amount of air being forced out of the way of the anti-orbital guns' slugs blew the accumulations into their respective molecules.

Brettonian Chancellery, mountainous region

Chancellor Donner reviewed the communique from the Nod leadership.

"Begging for their lives, perhaps?" he said aloud, taking a moment to observe the sudden disappearance of clouds over the horizon. Still, the bit about Eizenburg worried him slightly. They'd have to have a chat about things later.

to alex of siap, we are happy to provide nuclear weaponery. our demands are that you firstly vote and get people to vote against the current UN vote regarding nuclear non -profilitian and our second request is that 2.5 million Imperial pounds per war head be paid. as you may have noticed we are currently at a for front of possible war fare with a rogue nation-Bretton so the transportation of these weapons (inc IRMB capabilities) will have to be sent at various intervals.

"Ha, those idiots ", the general shouted, he seemed to be in some kind of psycotic dance routine. " kane said they would do this and yet again his wisdom doesnt fail to amaze me, FIRE THE SECOND CANNON!! he roared at the screen, avoid loss of life where possible for now anyway and target the small mountain regions just to flex our military muscle, if they dont back down after this one, then we launch an all out assault on their capital"

In space , a small satalite began to move at a snails pace over the requested coordinates and without any real effort a large aqua blue light burst from the bottom and pierced the atmosphere over Bretton and hit the moutain range. there seemed to be no civillians in the area at the time of detonation, it was more of a powerful and explosive light show. meanwhile.....

Bretton commander insane dictator?

in the past few hours the NNN recieved confirmed reports from unknown sources that the commander of the Brettonian government is indeed a megalomanic mad man. The footage shows that the commander at recent trade negotiations was attempting to launch an all out attack on nod and kill our beloved emperor, whilst holding our trade negotiators hostage until their demands where met.

His royal majesty has recently sent word of this apparent attempt at a brettonion coup against their chancellor and has offered the support of nod to defend the Bretton leadership against the terrorist commander.....

Kane gave a list to the general to move the armoured divisions (6,9 and 10) across the desert of nod to reach the port of Kane to meet the awaiting carriers. The second air force was getting fuelled up for the possible bombardment of brettons capital and whilst the 3rd and fourth wing where already waiting at the run way to attack any SAM sites along the way.

" I want to see how they take our airforce deployments first then if they start looking like they'll attack then we must execute the orders and begin the air raids" the general just sat there smiling

Aboard an F-26 Locust

"Roger that, we're pulling back now."

"Silver leader, what's up?"

"We've gotta go back, we haven't been fueled up enough to make the trip... for some darned reason they didn't fill us with enough fuel to complete the mission."

"Darn! *Censored*!"

"Let's move out now."

The planes pulled up and headed back. A long hard day's work had been for naught... os so they thought.

---

Back at the Geneticon Military Headquarters:

"Pull those fighters back now!"

"Yes General."

"Give the Brettonians and the pilots the excuse that they weren't properly fueled. Aplogize to the Brettonians, and ask them if they still want assistance after our planes fuel up."

"Yes sir."

"I'm glad we can pull back in time, this uranium shipment from Nod is worth a ton, and we're getting a fair price. Better than sending our boys to get killed."

Message sent to Brettonians:

We apoligize, but our egineers made a mistake and did not properly fuel our planes, so they will have to pull back. We are sorry for this incovinience, and I'm afraid that our planes will now not be able to make it to Nod in time to make a difference. Again, we are sorry. If you wish to void our agreement, that is fair, because this has been our mistake.

OOC: It's the Ion Cannon Satellite? That thing was fun and all, but seriously, I've developed these massive anti-orbital guns for the purpose of shooting down armed satellites and space stations. You're toast, my friend.

Brettonian Aerospace Defense Command

"It's a satellite?!" General Eizenburg demanded. "Why didn't we pick it up earlier?!"

"I don't know! None of our early warning systems picked it up!" a technician exclaimed.

"Well whatever, we know it's there now! Second volley, fire!" Eizenburg barked.

The behemoth anti-orbital gun batteries thundered again, annihilating even more of the cloud layer before it had a chance to fill in the area from the first barrage.

Nine of the dozens of slugs perforated the offending cylindrical satellite, then continued on to parts unknown.

OOC: well this seems to be moving into FT so i guess ill get involved.

IC: 3 days ago a probe picked up radio messages and had transmited them through subspace back to the intelligence command of The kingdom of Tarsonis. A medium sized nation, which with help of other nations had already achieved space age technology. Seeing a potential ally in bretton while also noticing the advantages in sheer numbers that Bretta has over imperial nod. The 108th fleet (a detachment from a much larger fleet) had been sent.

Consisting of:
15 Behomoth class battle cruisers
10 Alexander class BCs
5 Hyperion class BCs (including the Tarsonian Flag ship the STSS Revenge.)
25 wave runner gunships
1 ultima carrior, containing 6000 Valkaries (fighters that can switch into mobile suit mode. only piloted by the Elite fighting group called the Mornarians)
and 1 of the larger versions of the ultima the legendary UltimaX carriar STSS Datulus, which contained 35000 wraith fighters.
and 2 science vessels complete with sensor arrays.
and 4 landing ships carrying 25000 marines, 45 seige tanks, and 300 goliath mech walkers.
and 1 mobile command center.

The fleet decended from hyper space and moved in upon the planet. Stoping to group just outside its moons orbit. Fleet Admiral Whittaker looked out through a viewing glass at the planet they had come to do what they can to stop it from destroying itself. He sighed sipping his coffee, he hated these deep space runs. I should have been a carpenter

OOC: FT? What? How have you came to this conclusion? I'm a strictly PMT nation, and as Imperial Nod has an orbital ion cannon (or rather, had one) I assume he's PMT as well. Don't muck this up by bringing your Death Stars in, allrighty? I appreciate the fact that you wish to help me, and as much as I would love even more "eyes in the sky" especially if they're armed, I don't want this to proceed to FT if I can help it. You understand, yes?

Airspace around Imperial Nod

Nearly approaching the gap between atmosphere and space, the fleet of BA-104B Arbiter II (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=452252) bombers almost noiselessly sailed towards their objectives. Since the first wave had not equipped the advanced capability Middleman drone, they flew in stealth configuration, effectively absorbing radar waves that were aimed towards them and masking their infrared signature to ground-based observers.

"Commander, picking up the first early-warning radar systems ranging our positions. Looks like they're ready for action," the lead bomber's navigator reported.

"Very good. Relay orders to the fleet to break off and start blanketing the area. Bring down each and every positive radar signature until your stocks are depleted," the flight commander ordered.

"Sir, understood sir," the radio-intercept officer nodded, relaying his orders. The bomber fleet began breaking off into pairs of two, each pair moving towards a radar signature.

---

"Forward air control, looks like an airport. Attack?"

"Affirmative."

"HARM launch confirmed." Two smokeless high-speed anti-radiation missiles appeared from the bomber's concealed bomb bays, rapidly speeding towards their targets. The small missile's elongated form and lack of fins would make it nearly invisible to radar, and the smokeless engine left no trace of its presence to visual scanning. The radar site would be taken out in a few moments, most likely completely unaware of its impending doom. The pair moved on to their next target.

---

"Fire control search radar, definately a military complex. Attack?"

"Affirmative."

"HARM launch confirmed." Another pair of HARMs headed off to blind the military base.

---

"Early warning detection system, might be an AWACs or meterological facility. Attack?"

"Affirmative."

"HARM launch confirmed." Two more missiles streaked earthwards.

---

This was the story all over Imperial Nod. Starting from the borders and working their way towards the center, the Arbiters proceeded to knock out each and every facility capable of generating radar. When they confirmed a signal, they sent a pair of anti-radiation missiles on its way.

In a few hours, it was all over, and the Arbiters headed towards their airbases back in the Brettonian homeland across the earth, as quietly and invisibily as they came.

MT: Modern Tech. Shit from like 1950 to today.

PMT: Post-Modern Tech. Shit from 2010 to 2060 or so. Some people put the ceiling higher at around 2080. I, for example, am around 2045. Think Ghost in the Shell if you want an example.

FT: Future Tech. Star Wars, Warhammer 40k, Babylon 5, whatever your pleasure. The sky's the limit with FT, and that's why I don't like it.

An orbital laser weapon is a PMT weapon, mostly because while possible in MT, it is prohibitively expensive. We tried it with the Strategic Defense Initiative under Reagan, and the bang for the buck really wasn't that good.

That's really the big defining moment: are nuclear weapons available? If so, it's MT or beyond. If not, it isn't.

"Bombs? Oh, how droll..." General Eizenburg remarked. "Get the strategic defense assets pointing at Imperial Nod's neck of the world in anticipation of launch of nuclear missiles."

"Sir!" his adjutant saluted, relaying his orders.

"My only regret is not being able to see the looks on their stupid faces when their precious nuclear warheads are taken out half-way here," Eizenburg remarked. "Oh well, I suppose we all must make sacrifices in the name of progress."

"Strategic Defense assets online and ready for launch, sir!" the adjutant reported.

"Good, good. Keep your eyes on the satellite feeds and launch at the first sign of enemy activity," Eizenburg noted.

---

Brettonian ICBM silos across the nation activated their revolver-like chambers and replaced the nuclear-tipped missiles usually stored ready to launch with the slimmer, faster strategic defense missile. The SDMs, armed with payloads of hundreds of steel ball bearings, would be launched in the case of a nuclear ballistic missile attack against the Brettonian homeland. The high-speed SDMs would close to within short distance of the enemy ICBMs, then explode in a directed shotgun-like pattern, neutralizing the enemy missile before they could seperate to launch their MIRVs. If they were equipped with them in the first place.

"Will you hurry up, we should have done this an hour ago, we need to set the timer and get the hell out of here." the short man looked away " I dont care whether we need to get away we do this for Kane. if we die then we will have died in his name, in his honour!"

The tall thin lady looked scared but did her best to compose herself. what if the bomb doesnt go off? will Nod be destroyed? I heard rumours that the Fist of nod was destroyed but then i heard one had targeted a mountain somewhere?.... right that does it, its armed, we have to go now. In 2 mins this city will be more than a ghost town."

The short man smiled "this is for you your majesty" he gave a small salute and they both walked around the corner of the empty building.

Whittaker waited for the attack.

"sir im picking up a massive energy spike in the bretton capital. The ships readout has just confirmed that its a small tactical bomb."

Whittaker jumped. "teleport it into space before it detonates." The ship struggled to lock onto something so small and quickly sent it into the vacume of space several hundred miles away.

The message was relayed through subspace to Korhal where King Cerifis ruled from Col Aryon the Royal Palace. He quickly sent this reply.

We have not come to aid any one side. Our sole purpose here is to keep u from making the same mistake that the former government of our nation did. We emplor u not to make use of nuclear weapons, and if u do not we shall not get involved in either case.

"Sire theres no word from the bretton people or the two agents"

They may be able to stop one missile but can they stop 45? Pah i dont think so."

Kane looked at the screen on the wall which became a map of Bretton.

" 5, 4 , 3 , 2, 1. Fire!!!"

his finger was released from the launch sequence and the ground around shook violently. The missiles could be seen from the capital and in near by cities.

it was a short time before the missiles where raining down from space.

Brettonian Aerospace Defense Command

"Missile launch confirmed! Multiple inbound warheads from Nod facilities!" the chief technician shouted.

"Fire SDMs, use double-redundancy warheads! We have plenty of missiles to spare," General Eizenburg ordered. The first real test of our SDM program... I didn't think I'd ever get to see it in my lifetime... he thought.

"SDM launch codes transmitted; launching now!" The massive plasma screen switched over to a wire frame model of the Earth, showing red lines representing Nod missiles departing their homeland. Simultaneously, white lines began appearing from Brettonian sites, representing the Strategic Defense Missiles lifting off to meet their aggressors.

---

The eight-meter-thick concrete doors snapped open with impressive speed, and shortly thereafter the long, skinny, pencil-shaped SDMs rocketed skyward. The exhaust plumes were much smaller than those of the ICBMs usually fired from those silos, owing to their narrow frames. The SDMs quickly sailed into the sky, and were above the constant cloud cover in a few seconds.

Minutes later, the SDMs and ICBMs met in a rather anticlimactic clash. The warheads of the SDMs exploded, tearing the ICBMs' warheads and guidance systems into shreds with their buckshot-like steel pellets. There was no massive nuclear detonation, no fireballs, no pretty explosions to view from the ground. Some of the Nod missiles continued on without their payloads, others flew apart entirely.

Perhaps some MIRVs would safely re-enter the atmosphere, but without their sophisticated guidance systems and detonators, they'd simply end up as lawn darts in someone's backyard. Lawn darts with a radioactive payload, but lawn darts nonetheless.

---

Brettonain Aerospace Defense Command

The white lines met the red lines two-to-one, and each triplet disappeared marking a successful interception. One by one the triplets vanished, until none were left. A whooping cheer went up from the technical staff.

"All missiles have been successfully intercepted! Threat of nuclear detonation is clear, I repeat, threat of nuclear detonation is clear!"

Eizenburg picked up his hat and replaced it on his head.

"Good work, gentlemen. The Chancellor and Fearless Leader will be pleased," Eizenburg stated.

---

Brettonian chancellery

"So they attempted to send nuclear weapons our way, eh?" Chancellor Donner remarked, paging through a report that had been faxed to his estate.

"That is correct, Chancellor. All warheads were intercepted, however, it seems a few survived re-entry," his adjutant reported.

"Well, no system is perfect," Donner stated. "Maybe they fell in the backyard of some poor third-world country. Now they can have nuclear weapons too."

"Always the optimist, Chancellor," the adjutant noted.

"Quite so, quite so," Donner replied. "Anyway. This certainly shows that those Nod so-and-sos like to 'play rough' as it were. I think we should give them a few 'gifts' of our own."

"More nukes, Chancellor?"

"No no, my boy. Nuclear weapons are so... outmoded. Cliche, if you will," Donner noted, standing up and removing a book from a large bookshelf to his left. "Have you ever heard of Ali Hassan al-Majid (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ali_Hassan_al-Majid)?"

"No, sir, I don't believe I have," the adjutant replied.

"Very interesting fellow," Donner remarked, handing him the book. "Read up. No sense being part of history if you don't want to learn about it."

Brettonian Chancellery, mountainous region

Chancellor Donner held his arms out in a "T" shape while his female adjutant slipped his heavy, fur-lined greatcoat onto his shoulders. Donner rolled his shoulders around to get it settled, then began buttoning the twenty-odd buttons running down its front. The adjutant returned shortly with his hat; Donner ran a comb through his hair, pushing it back, then placed the hat on his head.

"Dashing, as always, Chancellor," the adjutant remarked as he observed himself in a large mirror.

"PMS," he said, adjusting his collar.

"What?" the adjutant looked confused.

"An acronym, dear. Perfect Male Specimin," he said flatly, attempting to maintain a straight face as she giggled. "Well come now, it wasn't that funny."

"It's just that I thought you were such an austere figure," she explained.

"Austere?" Donner asked, looking somewhat hurt. "Would an austere person do this?"

"Do wh-" she was cut off as his lips collided with hers. His arms went around her frame, nearly enveloping her in the white wool and fur of his coat. "Chancellor, I don't think your wife would approve..." she said sheepishly.

"I don't think I care," the Chancellor replied, kissing her again. The most powerful man in the whole Brettonian state... she thought.

The moment was rudely interrupted by a cell phone ringing. Donner pulled back in disbelief.

"I don't believe it!" Donner exclaimed, face contorted in rage. He pushed her aside and angrily grabbed the phone, flipping it open. "If this isn't important, so help me God I'll have you dancing the Tyburn jig!"

He paused, listening to the other end report.

"He WHAT?!" Donner exclaimed.

Another pause.

"Oh, well that's just rich, isn't it?!" he yelled. "Isn't it, Duval?!" The adjutant recognized the name; Lieutenant General Duval was the head of the Foreign Ministry.

A third pause.

"And what the fuck is that supposed to mean?! Of course we're going to retaliate! I don't care if you have a video from him!" he barked. "Yes, we're going to use the VX and N-9 warheads! If Eizenburg hasn't already launched the bombers, I'll give him the order personally!"

Pause.

"Allright, get to it! I expect results by tomorrow!" Donner ended the call, then pitched the phone across the room. It bounced off the wall in several pieces.

"Chancellor?" the adjutant asked, having regained her composure.

"The nerve of that insufferable, inscruitable Kane! He'd turn my hair gray if it wasn't already!" Donner seethed, making wild hand gestures. "Well, we'll see how smug and concieted he is after our special bombs start landing in his backyard."

"Special bombs?" she asked.

"Oh yes," Donner remarked, handing her his atache case. "Nice little presents that will sweep away those psychotic Nod nutcases and leave the precious mineral assets intact. Now, we depart. I have a speech to make in Brettonia."

With Nod's national radar arrays out of action, the next logical step would be to establish air superiority. The second flight of Brettonian Arbiter II bombers were loaded out entirely with air-to-air missiles. Short range, long range, guided by infrared, radar, acoustic, laser, or wire. These flights also armed eight Middleman drones, and each of them packed another half dozen missiles. Today, the Arbiters would be hunting Nod fighters.

Without the aid of ground-based radar, the Nod air force would be forced to rely on their own internal instruments and avionics to locate their aggressors. The Arbiters, on the other hand, would benefit greatly from their powerful HSCDEADGR (http://www.freewebs.com/bluebomber2/aerospacetech.htm) systems. The moment Nod aircraft appeared over the horizon, they would be mapped in full three-dimensional detail, painted as targets, and a Minuteman would be launched towards them. The Minuteman's incredibly powerful scramjet would accelerate it to above Mach 10; if the Minuteman's six missiles couldn't finish off the target, the Minuteman itself would. Each Minuteman packed a warhead in its nose, and was programmed to kamikaze into its target if it its missiles did not do the job.

The Arbiter fleet split up into packs of four bombers. Each pack would draw out Nod air assets, and the pack behind them would take them out. The age-old 'hammer and anvil' attack would be brought to the skies of Imperial Nod.

Imperial Nod airspace

Nod's impressive air force began taking to the skies; unfortunately for them, the moment they lifted off, they became virtual bullseyes.

"Bandits at two o'clock, just getting airborne. Range 560 kilometers," the radar operator reported. As per standard operating doctrine, all airborne radar signatures not transmitting a Brettonian transponder signal were automatically marked as targets to be shot down.

"How many?" the aircraft commander asked.

"Looks like a full squadron," the radar operator stated.

"Very well. Bombardier, fire four Minutemen, then twelve ALRAAMS ten seconds later," the commander ordered. "We'll wait and see what happens next."

"Understood, commander!" the bombardier affirmed.

"Keep it steady, pilot," the commander said; the pilot nodded in return. Four 'clunks' where heard as the Middlemen seperated from their wing pylons. A few seconds later, the drones tore ahead of the bomber, their scramjets having sucked in enough air to activate.

---

The scene was similar all over Nod airspace. When Nod aircraft took off, a pack of Arbiters was hot on their tail, and fast. They couldn't be outrun, they couldn't be over or underflown; they couldn't be escaped.

With any luck, the next wave of Nod pilots would wisely stay on the ground, as opposed to going up as a mouse into a room full of cats.

General Vonsen and his command staff looked over a three-dimensional electronic map of the ice-choked Brettonian shores.

"At 1100, our satellites picked up these naval assets steaming at high speed towards our borders," a technicial officer reported. "Their profiles match those of Nod ships in port as of our last satellite scan in the region."

"And where are they now?" Vonsen asked.

"They'll be entering the range of our costal defenses momentarily. As a percaution, we have put several squadrons of Arbiter IIs on alert," another technical officer said. "These have been loaded with ASROCs in the case of any Nod submarines popping up, and high-speed interception missiles on the odd chance any Sub-Launched Ballistic Missiles -SLBMs- getting in the air," he said. General Vonsen nodded approvingly.

"Nod naval assets have crossed into our waters!" a klaxon announced.

"Well, there you have it. Commence attack!" Vonsen ordered.

---

Brettonian coastline

The water had turned to ice across much of Bretton's meager coast. The already camouflaged costal bunkers were blanketed with fine snow and ice. Small portuberances seemed to rise out of the ground, looking like rectangular blocks of ice. The OLED camouflage snapped off, revealing dozens of anti-ship missile launchers. The batteries flared to life, lobbing their rockets towards the distant Nod forces. The missiles were volleyed; half would skim the surface while the other half would achieve a high altitude, then dive down into their targets. Both would strike simultaneously, ensuring Nod CIWS would be hard-pressed to keep up. As the missile batteries re-activated their camouflage and descended back into the ground, much larger bunkers made themselves apparent. The massive 78cm railguns, two to a bunker, dropped their camouflage as well. The railguns were positioned further inland, ensuring they would remain operational even if the missile batteries had been destroyed. Furthermore, their slugs travelled at such velocity that, at maximum range, they would impact their targets a scant few seconds after firing.

As the missiles neared their targets and Nod CIWS opened fire, the costal guns thundered. If the missiles didn't put the Nod fleet out of action, giant hypersonic slugs would.

Imperial Nod airspace

The second wave of Arbiter IIs continued across Imperial Nod's skies, systematically neutralizing its air assets.

Having refueled, re-armed, and re-crewed, the first wave of bombers, which had earlier knocked out Nod's comprehensive air defense radars, were now on their way back with a much, much different payload.

Each squad of four bombers was armed in much the same way. The inner two bombers armed a single gigantic fuel air bomb, a full 400,000 pound warhead. These bombs would be dropped on major population centers near and around sites identified by previous geological satellite scans as posessing uranium ore underground. The resultant blast would rival a small nuclear device in destructive force, but would not destroy hardened structures or underground complexes. Instead, the explosive pressure would have the effect of literally sucking the air out of bunkers, shelters, and other complexes. It would buckle and render useless air filtration systems, even gas masks, in the vicinity of its detonation. The second bomb would strike a few moments later, further weakening anything the first bomb did not.

The remaining bombs would be the cinchers, though. Each bomber carried a split payload: half of their bomb bay was occupied by approximately 156 air-dispensing canisters of VX nerve gas. The other has was ocupied by another 156 canisters of what has been termed the 'mother of all germ bombs,' the Raven Corps' Nemesis-9 virus.

Nemesis-9, developed by Dr. Trinity Stovent, easily one of Raven Corps' most brilliant scientists, was a muderous virus. Infection can result from inhalation, bodily fluids, injury, or even skin contact. Full MOPP4 gear would be required if anyone did not wish to be exposed to the virus. Nemesis-9's short incubation period of only two days would ensure quick work.

Targeted individuals would first develop a severe fever of north of 103 degrees. This would progress to skin boils, uncontrollable vomiting, and dizziness. Higher brain functions will begin to degrade simultaneously with flesh decay, leading many sufferers to begin suffering from insanity. Severe migranes will set in shortly thereafter, instigated by light, sound, and movement. By the end of the second week, the subject is no longer contagious, having already suffered through uncontrollable urination and involuntary muscle convulsions. Within three weeks of initial exposure, the subject will expire from total breakdown of the central nervous system, digestive tract, and brain fuctions.

The fuel-air bombs dropped. A minute later, the second pair of Arbiters dropped their noxious payloads. The massive FAEs exploded below, pushing the chemical and biological warheads into the air on the virtue of their parachutes. They then continued descending to the ground; an internal altimeter counted off until the canisters reached an altitude of 100 feet, when they began releasing their contents.

Chancellor Donner, Generals Eizenburg and Duval, and their entourage were enjoying the fruits of their big game hunt earlier in the day at a lodge for Brettonian officials vacationing in the region.

"General," Donner began, addressing Eizenburg. "I've always trusted your judgement on things, even back to the Leverandon Campaign."

"And I as well, Chancellor," Eizenburg said.

"Now, it's my professional opinion as a head of state that this... Kane fellow," Donner stated, leaning back in his chair and musing a glass of whiskey, "is a nutter. Off his rocker. Popped. Insane, even."

"He's batshit," Duval added.

"Indeed," Donner replied. "However, the fact that he keeps insisting you were complicit in some kind of... what's the word... coup d'etat that's resulted in this happy little war we're in, I find slightly disturbing."

"You said it yourself, Chancellor," Eizenburg insisted. "He's mad. Review the Stahlkörpes (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=447922)' video records if you find my words lacking of merit."

"I've already reviewed them in exhaustive detail," Donner stated, "and have found no evidence of any wrongdoing on your part."

"If you don't mind my asking, Chancellor, what is the point of this discussion, then?" Duval inquired.

"Ah, I'm getting to that," Donner finished his whiskey. "I just want one more piece of evidence before we put this matter behind us." The room was silent for a few moments. Donner leaned forward. "I want you to tell me, to my face, that there's no subterfuge here."

"None, Chancellor," Eizenburg said with much determination. "Nothing, zilch, zero. The null set, even."

"Very well. Let's bury this unpleasant business then, shall we?" Donner leaned back. "Iria, bring the scotch out, would you?" he hollered over his shoulder. His adjutant appeared from one of the ajoining lounges with a fancy-looking bottle complete with a wooden cap.

"This one, yes?" she asked.

"Indeed," Donner replied, taking the bottle from her. "This, my friends, is the real deal. Best damn scotch in the world. I was personally there to liberate this from Perganum's presidential site. Enjoy."

The Imperial Isochronous Military, led by Field Marshall von Nien, scrambled their defence assets with many already deployed around the Imperial Nod to protect their new allies from the foreign forces seeking to invade and destroy. With a myriad of carrier battle fleets in Nodian waters, 50 Collins Class submarines were hunting the perimeter for potential Brettonian or other nations' ships to destroy.

Furthermore, 620 F-26 Locust STOVLs were patrolling Imperial Nod airspace, ready to shoot down any fleet of bombers. 30 A-10 Thunderbolts with escort from someLocusts also went directly for enemy land forces to take out artillery, tanks and other armoured assets.

In Isochronous strict curfews were imposed, the borders sealed, and millions of military personnel readied for any direct threat to the homeland. Missile silos were prepared for usage with nuclear warheads ready to be deployed against any target in the world.

Brettonian Air Command, northern region

General Hassler, famed commander of the Kahanistan Campaign, mused his gloved fingers over his chin at the spectacle of the electronic map before him.

An unidentified fleet had appeared off the Nod coast. Based on their actions, he could assume that they were present to assist in Nod's defense against the surgically effective Arbiter raids.

"Pull back all bombers still in the area," Hassler ordered. The other officers in the command center quickly echoed his orders. "Nod's air assets and early-warning infrastructure have been more or less neutered. These foreign forces will take priority for the time being."

"Your orders, General?" an officer asked.

"I was just getting there," Hassler remarked. "Once all bombers have been recalled, they will be outfitted with air-to-air and antishipping missiles, as well as ASROCs. The fleet will then fly a roundabout course to hit the foreign fleet from behind. At such an altitude, nevermind the impeccable stealth, they'll be invisible right up until the missiles start hitting."

"They'll fly East?" the officer exclaimed.

"Correct. The fleet will stop off in Axis Nova to refuel. I'm sure they won't mind," Hassler remarked. "Once the foreign assets have been neutralized, we may resume putting the Nodees in their proper place, as well as the retrieval of the uranium."

Usually utilized for their massive flying battlewagons, an Axis Nova airstrip had been temporarily loaned to the fleet of Brettonian Arbiter II bombers. The huge fuel hoses had little difficulty filling the Arbiters' tanks up in short order.

"Thanks again," the flight commander hollered from his aircraft's cabin hatch. "We'll be back again on the return trip."

"Keep your eyes peeled; looks like there's a storm brewing up ahead," the ground worker hollered back.

"Willdo," the commander ducked inside, shutting the hatch behind him. The fleet was airborne again shortly thereafter.

OOC: What part of "stealth" in "stealth bomber" do you not understand? -_-* Furthermore, by flying around NS Earth, stopping off in Axis Nova along the way, I've came from the exact opposite angle of attack, which will allow me to begin firing at Isochronous' navy without ever touching your airspace. Even if the bombers weren't stealth, I highly doubt any mobile radar units you have could pick them up at that range.

OOC: You forgot about my 10 Rods of God impacting your palace. They each have the kinetic energy equivalent to a nuclear blast.

OOC: A nuclear blast? Not really. "Godrods" are immensely powerful weapons if you can afford to keep resupplying them with their darts, but on the same level as a nuclear warhead? No sir. They may be excellent if you want to penetrate the most hardened bunkers and other structures, and be pinpoint accurate, but if you want to level a city in one go, a nuclear weapon or a really big fuel-air bomb is necessary.

International waters off Imperial Nod

"Distance to target 420 nautical miles," the radar navigator reported.

"Firing point will be reached in approximately seventy-seven seconds," the bombardier added. "Beginning final synchronization with GPS and orbital imaging."

"Run the final activation test of the sonar warheads," the aircraft commander ordered. The ASROCs will have a tougher time homing in on foreign submarines without them."

"Running activation test now..." the copilot remarked. "All green, sonar warheads are primed and ready for launch."

"Very well," the commander nodded. "All units, fire sonar warheads!"

"Firing sonar warheads," the bombardier said. Six missiles were loosed from each bomber. "Thirty-two seconds until the firing point has been reached." Our combat-virgin sonar warheads... the commander thought. Here's to hoping it was worth the weight in payload.

"Missile guidance is programmed, ready for launch," the bombardier nodded.

"All units, commence firing!" the commander shouted. A fullisade of rockets tore forth from their cradles, streaking ahead of the bomber force. Half were anti-shipping missiles, which would attack the Isochronian navy from above, while the remainder were ASROCs, which would plunge into the sea a mile or so short of their targets and release an Advanced Capability torpedo.

As the bomber force began veering away for the long return trip to Axis Nova, the sonar warhead dove straight into the ocean outside the Isochronian fleet's perimeter. These unique warheads carried no payload; instead, a powerful active sonar emitter, only good for one ping, was mounted in the base of the warhead. Upon the ASROCs impacting the water, the sonar warheads would let off a single massive ping in unison, triangulating the positions of any submarine assets in the area, then relay the targeting data and telemetry to the torpedoes. Successful impact was virtually assured.

This came at the cost of six missiles per bomber, but would likely be worth it in the end.

The ASROCs ditched into the sea, birthing their torpedoes. The sonar warheads picked up their impact, and released their unified active sonar ping.

"General! Contacts on active sonar!" a technician barked. The electronic map of the Brettonian coast displayed a number of red triangles representing enemy assets.

"They surfaced through the ice?!" General Kranzler demanded.

"Affirmative, General!" a satellite image revealed Nod submarines breaking through the ice floes surrounding the Brettonian coastline.

"Relay these dimensions to Air Defense Command, get the anti-ballistic missile systems online!" Kranzler shouted. "ASROCs, prepare to fire at those subs!"

"ASROCs linked with sonar bouys off the coast, firing now!"

---

As the doors on the Nod submarines began opening, hundreds of white streaks began appearing over the horizon as a fullisade of ASROCs launched from their batteries. The missiles cleared the rocky coastline, then abruptly plunged towards the ice. A few were unable to penetrate, but the vast majority punched through the floes, releasing their torpedoes into the icy water. The ASROCs quickly homed in on their submarine targets, whom would be unable to maneuver due to surfacing through the offshore ice packs.

Brettonian Aerospace Defense Command

"They just don't give up, do they?" General Eizenburg frowned. "Tenacious little pricks..."

"General," a technician caught his attention. "Nod submarines off the coast have began firing SLBMs. Homeland Defense has fired ASROCs in response. Tracking Nod SLBMs now..."

A three-dimensional map of Bretton's northern border, featuring its only coastline, began registering the Nod SLBMs streaking towards their targets.

"THEL batteries four, five, and seven can intercept them," the technician reported.

"Excellent. Bring the THEL batteries online," Eizenburg ordered. "Bretton is invincible from all sides, all angles, all means of attack. It's time to show them exactly what they're dealing with."

"THEL batteries are online, commencing firing in twenty seconds..."

---

THEL Battery Four, outskirts of Bolgrim

A small military compound, cordoned off by a chain link fence, looked unassuming enough: a few concrete blockhouses and a parking lot, all painted white to better blend in with the snow.

An OLED camouflage deactivated in the smallest blockhouse, revealing a pair of steel doors. The doors opened, and a bizarre searchlight-shaped apparatus popped out of the interior. It rotated on a powerful servo, then began pointing at a distant target. A low humming noise began issuing from the THEL emitter. A massive explosion appeared in the sky as a Nod SLBM exploded far short of its target. The THEL rotated a small degree, and issued another humming noise. A second explosion, then a third, a fourth, and a fifth.

Brettonian coastline

Bretton's three coastal cities, including the only port of Bolgrim, enjoyed a bizarre fireworks show that afternoon. The Theatre High Energy Laser batteries brought down one SLBM after another, showering the wilderness with bits of missile. Their work completed, the THEL batteries disappeared back into their blockhouses, and none were the wiser.

Brettonian Aerospace Defense Command

"General, we are confirming the destruction of all enemy SLBMs," a technician reported, adjusting his hat. Eizenburg grinned.

"Perhaps this will convince those pinheads to stop wasting their efforts," he remarked. "Bretton is the greatest fortress on Earth. You can't just march in with a few toys and expect any action."

Response; Brettonian Chancellery

On behalf of Fearless Leader, I have wired you this documentation for your national interest.

When Imperial Nod first entered the market of fissile material, bloodsucking foreign nations descended upon them like vultures, intent on stampeding capitalism and free trade. We Brettonians, who believe highly in these values, and also with great interest in purchasing Imperial Nod's substantial uranium reserves for top dollar, appeared over the horizon as an aegis to protect the Nodees from anti-nuclear international mosquitos.

Following our substantial dispensation of effort to protect Nod from impeding invasion, we were utterly humiliated and degraded by Imperial Nod's representatives when we began making overtures for the sale of their fissile material -a a substantial markup of price per kilogram, I may add- without so much as a cursory glance to our proposition.

We Brettonians are renowned for our hardiness owing to the bitterly cold climate of our homeland, but we are also renowed for our pride and honor as a nation of warriors. As a result of their tomfoolery, we have mobilized our military to "put some starch in their collars" and deliver a severe lesson in international relations and realpolitik. We will also liberate Imperial Nod's reserves of fissile material in retribution for their actions.

In response, Nod has attempted to attack our homeland with nonconventional weapons. By firing the first shot of a nonconventional war, they have forced our hand in the matter, and we have responded accordingly.

At present, this little 'exercise' in futility on the part of Nod's defenders is an affair of honor and national strength of character.

If you foolishly decide to enter this conflict as an ally of the filthy Nodees, you are hereby warned that as an ally of a nation that deployed the first strike of a nonconventional weapon, you will be viewed as an accomplice to this reckless regime, and also responded to accordingly.

I will repeat that once and only once: if you side with Nod, you will be delt with in the same fashion as they. There will be no reprieves, no humanitarian considerations, and no mercy.

You have been warned.

If you so happen to choose the higher path in this engagement and reverse your support of Imperial Nod, we will be more than happy to share an appropriate amount of their reserves of fissile material, as we are already doing with our friends in Pythogria. We will also be obliged to welcome any other offers of diplomatic relation.

Be in touch, or be out of sight. Your decision; our action.

Mere days after the Nod missile attack had been successfully intercepted by the state-of-the-art THEL emplacements, the alarm klaxons began going off again.

"General, active sonar is picking up more movement under the ice," a technician reported.

"More Nod submarines...?" General Kranzler groaned.

"We're not positive. It's eerily quiet for a submarine..." the technician remarked. "Could simply be ice moving around. Nonetheless, on the heels of that most recent attack, I'm at liberty to assume they still have assets operating in the area."

"Very well, then," Kranzler stated, looking frustrated. "Have Aerospace Defense Command send up a few Arbiter squadrons and start patrolling the..." he trailed off.

"General?" the technician asked. Kranzler pondered for a moment.

"No, I have a better idea," he said. "Get me General Hassler. We're going to deploy a few Peacemakers (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=444410) over the ice floes."

"The A7V?" the technician seemed shocked. "What good will those behemoths do us?"

"Simple," Kranzler shrugged. "The moment those submarines surface to fire, they find themselves looking down the barrel of a 78cm railgun. Our THELs won't even need to be fired if the submarine is sunk before it can dispatch any missiles. Additionally, I want several Stahlkörpe (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=447922) squads to piggyback with the Peacemakers over there. If we could capture one of those submarines more or less intact, find out how it moves so silently, it would not only be a boon to our Anti-Submarine Warfare logistics, but would definately help accelerate our own naval programs."

"Understood, General. I'll get General Hassler on the line immediately."

---

Four hours after his phone call, twenty-four A7V Peacemaker multi-legged tanks were sitting off the Brettonian shore, the permanently-frozen icepacks providing them ample support. Their soulless eyes, all twelve of them, rapidly scanned the ice around them for any signs of activity. Six Stahlkörpe assault suits were mounted on each Peacemaker, ready to fastrope onto the ice and start perforating any interlopers that pushed through.

If push came to shove, the Peacemakers could just as easily knock out any SLBMs that were able to be squeezed off. The Stahlkörpe operators chatted and debated politics as the day dragged on, but the Peacemakers remained ever vigilant: an AI never gets tired.

"Commander we have intercepted this somewhat distorted message, it seems they may be on to our presence here, but they are not quite sure."

the commander smiled " Well lets disappoint them, I would all transmissions to cease pending my orders. I want all subs to slow to minimum speed and I want all electrical equipment thats not necessary to be deactivated, where going to stealth mode people, and I mean stealth Mode. we need to crawl to the coast as shallow as we can get. Then we fire! fleets 3 and 5 you have the front run, snails pace again but I want your vessals weapons to be activated. keep far away from 2,4 and 6 fleet when the bombs go off we wanna move in another direction and cause confusion. They think there invinvicible but unlike Kane their eyes arent everywhere

We are under the impression that you have deployed Non-Conventional Weapons against an invading nation. We reserve the right to threaten a nation with the use of Non-Conventional weapons, but we have never done so. We are now sending this offical message: If any Imperial Nod military vehicles or personel enter the boundries of Asgarnieu, your vehicles and or personel will be fired upon. We will not hesitate to fire on your homeland, either. We are revoking our decision to side with Imperial Nod and its allies. If any attacks of aggression are carried out upon Asgarnieu, your nation will come under attack. We now declare ourselves a neutral party within this conflict, and reserve the right to aid attacking nations. If any allies of Imperial Nod carry out attacks on Asgarnieu, they too, will be attacked. Asgarnieu also wishes to deny access to any Uranium or Plutonium liberated from Imperial Nod. We have sufficent supplies of radioactive materials of our own. As for all other nations involved in this conflict, we will be in touch. Thank you.

Response; Brettonian Chancellery

Attn: General Thomas R. Redding

I have reviewed your message, and am exceptionally pleased with your decisions. Truly, you have demonstrated that your leadership is wise and just in a sea of irresponsibility.

I would like to meet with you in person at some point in the near future. Hopefully, our friends in Pythogria will also send a dignitary, as well as our friends in Axis Nova.

One of Brettonia's famous opera houses will be performing the great Carl Weber's Der Freischütz in the coming weeks. I believe this will be an excellent environment to carry on a diplomatic engagement.

I await your response.

Chancellor Gerhard Donner

Message to Pythogria

The Asgarnian leadership has come off as being reasonable individuals, unlike we had first assumed. As a result, we have offered a diplomatic summit in Brettonia to help iron out our national differences, as well as to further decide the course of this enagagement over Imperial Nod's incompetance and backasswards governing. We do hope you will be able to attend.

We are serverely dissapointed in your descision but we accept and recognise your neutrality. However if details may serve you wrong you should be aware that the missiles we fired where of a non nuclear base. They where dummy warheads. And as you may see from the pictures enclosed this village was the target of bretton biological attacks. 4,000 civilians murdred at their hands.

We would not try to deter you from you descision, that indeed is your very right to choose, but we would like you to understand that no harm from our forces or allies will be acted upon your troops.

Your presence in not will not be seen in agression.

Encrypted message to Chancellor of Bretton

Chancellor, this petty feud is no good for our two peoples.

As a gesture of mutual peace and prosperity in unity and brotherhood we are prepared to stop any further agression against your forces in return for the full extent of our Uranium.

It would be more beneficial to both sides if this is where the case rather than us evacuate the area and detonate the mine with a nuclear thus preventing any possible future mining.

I expect to hear from you soon.

Yours

Seth Second in command Nod Empire
