Johan Odel walked up the metallic stairs of the security station. Once he reached the top, he turned and opened the door inside. Beads of sweat rolled down his head. This Island was much warmer than any Tocrowkian as accustomed to, and after a final, five hour running marathon through each sector of the park, he was exhausted.
He reached the computer/observation room and took his seat at the back behind a large desk. He grabbed a moist tow let and wiped the sweat away, and observed the staff, whom were each typing away at various consoles. He clapped his hands and stood up.
"Alright everyone. The tourists will be here in ten minutes. Give me a final report."
He demanded.
"Aquatic zone, secure. Mountain Zone, secure. Swamp zone, secure. Grass lands zone, secure. Desert zone, secure."
A female voice stated. Johan then picked up a walky-talky and radioed Kristine, whom was observing a Acrocanthosaurus in the desert sector.
"Everything okay down there, Morgen?"
Johan asked.
"Roger. Zone is secure."
She replied.
"Yeah, I already knew that. Thanks though."
He said. He put the walky-talky down and straitened up his uniform, wanting to look fresh for the tourists, whom would be arriving in six separate helicopters within a few minutes....

From the soft underbellies of the clouds descended a helicopter, its propellers buffeting the tropical air. Nick Lynum, dressed conspicuously in a three-piece suit, black homburg hat, and sunglasses, peered intently out the window. He had vague notions of what the island's attractions would be, but these notions were nowhere close to the startling reality he would confront. The helicopter descended slowly, shuddering slightly, almost causing Nick's glass of cognac to spill; he grabbed it, instinctively, just before it could tumble over and shatter.
He leafed again through the tourist literature on Tocrowkia. If memory served (and he had an impeccable memory), Tocrowkia was an ally of Roach-Busters, and a fellow member of the World Anti-Communist League. A thin smile crossed his face. This would make for an interesting excursion.
He listlessly hummed the lyrics to random songs, as he waited patiently for what seemed like an eternity for the chopper to land.
Finally, with a sudden jolt, it connected with the ground. He unbuckled his seat belt, as the door was opened by island workers, who curtly nodded and bade him welcome. Ducking his head, he stepped out of the helicopter, collected his luggage, and made his way toward the designated area where he was to meet with his hosts and the other guests.
Conrad DeLosean watched as the chopper he was in descended onto the landing pad, relieved the flight was over. He stretched his arms, and sprung up as soon as the helo landed.
Stepping out, he was met with a humid, sticky feeling, and tried to get used to it for the moment. He never could get used to weather over 80 degrees. Picking up his backpack and dufflebag, he walked over to what seemed to be a meeting area of sorts.

Feeling a bit shaky traveling by helictoper, John was more than glad to get off. It was a long flight and he missed feeling solid ground under his feet. He grabbed his suitcase and labtop and started heading towards the designated area for all guests and visitors. Thinking to himself while lookig around at the lush rich looking island. This seems promising, a bit to promising. Suprised by the almost exotic look he made his way forward
Ed Collins shifted around his seat- trying to get the best view out the helicopter window. He was strapped in, with headphones on, listening to his favorite band; Creedence Clearwater Revival. He always kept a load of spare batteries for his CD player in the pockets of his cargo pants. Too many times had he been without music on long trips to make the mistake of bringing none.
The view wasnt interesting yet, he didnt catch any glimpses of dinosaurs- although he swore that one anormally shaped tree trunk was moving. As the helicopter neared the ground, he recalled the very scene in the movies, when the guests first arrived. He wondered if the park would bear any resemblance to the fictional version.
The door was opened, and he unbuckled and reached for his packs, and exited the copter. The wind from the rotor blades was so intense that he had to hold the headphones on his head. Looking around, he started toward the only other people he saw nearby, waving as he approached.

<<OOC: Sorry if this is too long, I’m kinda new at this.>>
Lisa’s stomach lurched as the helicopter hit another air pocket. Cinching her seat belt even tighter around her waist, she closed her eyes and silently counted under her breathe.
One, two, three, four…. By the time she hit five, the nausea was gone and she tentatively opened her eyes. She hated flying and avoided it at all costs. But this was the chance of a lifetime, something she had worked towards all her life, and nothing, not even a little fear of flying, was going to stand in her way.
Besides some minor turbulence, the helicopter ride to the Tocrowkian owned island was uneventful, and she hoped it would continue that way. Flying over the mountains, Lisa looked out and saw a small clearing with a helicopter pad dead smack in the middle. She realized they would be landing soon. Damn, she thought, I hate this part.
Shoving her new leather bound journal, a graduation gift from her advisor, into a beat up backpack, she checked once more for the letter she had received in the mail only a few days ago, trying to figure out how in the world she had ended up on a helicopter heading towards the start of her new life. Everything had happened so quickly. Dr. Jim Reed, Lisa’s PhD adviser, had mentioned only a week earlier that he knew of a genetic lab looking for “fresh, new faces”
“This will be good for you, Lisa” she could hear his words still resounding in her head. “You are one of the best graduate students I have ever had the chance to, umm, ahem… work with.” Work with? She almost laughed in his face at that one, wondering how many other grad students Dr. Reed had slept with. She new she wasn’t the first, nor, most likely, the last. “That, and well, the types of organisms you will be working with are, well… umm, how should I say…interesting.”
Interesting was not even close to what this would be. Dinosaurs. Shaking her head in disbelief, she carefully folded the letter from the director of the Tocrowkian labs, telling her that a position was available for work in their genetic and molecular biology labs, and, based on the glowing recommendation from Dr. Reed and strong research background, the position was her’s, and placed it in her back pocket. Glowing recommendation my ass, he just wanted to get rid of me before I blew the whistle on his late-night lab parties. Notwithstanding, she was one of the best in her field and a perfect fit for this type of work. She had been obsessed with dinosaurs before she could even talk.
The helicopter set down with a final bump and Lisa was up and out of her seat before the doors could even be opened. She nodded and smiled to the islanders who opened the door for her and squinted in the bright sunlight.
Standing on the heliopad was a well-dressed businessman wearing a heavy three-piece suit. Gonna roast in that, big-boy, she thought and suppressed a giggle. Her well worn jeans and thin tank top were already sticking to her in the sweltering heat. Better go make nicey-nice.
With a heavy sigh she started walking towards the overly dressed man, “Hey, you, over there. Hello?…Hey,” she called over the roar of more incoming copters, waving her arms over her head, trying to get the his attention.

OOC: FYI, long is generally good, especially for an intro post to a thread.
IC: A evenly tanned caucasian women with shoulder-length black hair and glasses sat in the back section of the helicopter. Her name was Susan Marinos. A Lieutenant Junior Grade in the SeaQuestian Navy, she was on vacation from it all.
Born to a military family in the city of New Cape Quest, Susan grew up with one of her parents usually away on assignment. Always a fan of dinosaurs since early childhood, Susan has amassed quite a large library on several species on her personal PADD (ie, a PDA). With SeaQuest not focused on creating anything similar, she has decided to visit the Tocrowkia park durign her time off.
"Hmm," she thinks, "Its lucky the equipment I brought looks like local tourist gear," she smiles to herself, "but then again, it is my tourist gear."
Susan moves the bag next to her so it isn't digging into her side. She looks out the window at the ocean below.
"Five more minutes and we should be over the outskirts of the island."
She pulls out a bottle of soda.
Opening the top, she says aloud, quitely, "Got to keep my wits about me."
The pilot calls back over the roar of the rotors, "What was that ma'am?"
"Nothing, just thinking aloud," she replies.
"Got ya, ma'am. Do it myself sometimes without thinking."
Five minutes later...
The helicopter soars over the beach that marks that section of the island's edge.
"Almost there, ma'am," calls the pilot, "you may want to buckle up as the air is still in a little chaos after what they did to the island. Wouldn't be surprised if a storm blew up."
Susan nodded. She closed her drink and put it in her bag before buckling up. She finished right as the chopper hit some chop.
3 minutes later...
The chopper eased down on its designated landing pad. Susan undid her restraints before leaning foward and thanking the pilot.
"No problem, ma'am," he responds with a pleased look on his face.
Susan smiles and hops out of the helicopter. She adjusts her business suit as it got a little dis-jointed from the exiting of the copter.
"Damn," she thinks as she groans and starts digging through her bag for a towel, "Only a lizard would like this heat and humidity. Good thing I brought changes of clothes."

Odel came driving up at the back of the entrance building. He dashed out of the jeep and into the cool, air-conditioned concrete building to greet the guests. Some other nobody scientists and business people followed him in to explain things.
"Hello everyone. Name's Odel. Johan Odel, I'm head of security in the park. And these are nobo-...I mean, my associates. We can answer any questions you have. Anyway, I'm sure your all excited and want to see the animals, but first we have to take you to register at the security center, and then check you into one of the hotels. I hope this alright."

John happy to be inside the air conditioned building replied pleasantly
"Yes that that wouldn't be a problem at all on my part, This place seems pretty interesting, Yes it does. The name is John Martinez by the way. Security Center sounds pretty technical atleast you got a good run on these types of things. Don't want any mad insane people trying to break into this place"
John reached into his right pocket and took out his iPod
"Also you don't mind if I put these on, I always think better with a little comfortable background music" John said with a warm smile on his face.

"Yeah, just as long as you have it down low enough so it doesn't scare the animals."
Johan replied. Meanwhile, two other men walked into the visitor center. They looked normal enough, their pale white skin revealing them to be of obvious Tocrowkian descent. How ever, the air around them felt...un-easy.
Unknown to the others, these men carried with them a deadly package. Inside their suitcases, each of them carried twelve liters of improvised explosives. They were disguised in plastic water bottles, and appeared to be merely a clear liquid like water.

John slowly put on his iPod and chose a playlist that made him feel at home. He slowly became a little more relaxed. John being a very overcautious person due to his expert knowledge in pyschology, realized things seemed perfectly normal. He looked around and noticed the "gang" he'd probably be spending the next couple of days. Something about that cute girl in the tank caught his eye but his attention slowly fixed back on Odel
"So if you don't mind my questioning the accomodations, hotel, how will they be working all get seperate rooms and any special goodies in their like free cable" he said and slightly chuckled " Also, I'd love it if I maybe could get a schedule perhaps for the next couple of days. So I know where to be and where the fun will be at. If that wouldn't be any inconvenience to you of course"

Nick immediately let out a long, heavy sigh of sheer relief when he entered the building. The transition from sweltering, incapacitating tropical heat to refreshing coolness was so abrupt it took a few seconds for his brain to register that he was no longer suffocating in the midst of a heat wave, and his perspiration ceased. Wiping the remainder of sweat from his brow, he smiled, relieved to be indoors. Tentatively, he raised his hand. "Security center?" he asked, his tone a bit cautious, diffident. "Are they going to be checking us?"

"Yes, you will all have separate rooms. And yes, there will be several luxuries like cable. And seeing as you are our first guests, it will all be free."
Johan announced proudly.
"And yeah, you could get a schedule for tours around the various zones. Or you could rent a jeep and go around the park alone. But if you want the schedule, you'll have to wait tell we get to the security center."
Upon hearing the other mans question, he replied:
"Well, yeah they will. You'll also be given personnel GPS systems and an ID card, which doubles as a sort of credit card so you can get food and stuff from the various kiosks around here."

The constant clicking was driving Nikolai insane. He was used to silence. The ocean below him was a blue haze. The shadow of the helicopter slightly ahead of the real helicopter has the sunset behind him. There were a few other people on the chopper as well.
After a very long time there was a dull thud and everyone stood up excited. The pilot exterminated their hopes.
"We're just refulling on an aircraft carrier."
How far was this island? Nikolai thought to himself.
A loud click woke Nikolai up. The hatch was opening and the birght sunlight burst inside. Nikolai stepped down from the helocopter as the rotor blades slowed down. We was surprised to see how similar it was to Africa. His backpack was full to the bring with equipment, and his camoflauge clothing made him look like a member of the military. Nikolai immediatly pulled out his camera to start takling pictures. As he dug through his pack he found an open envelope. He stuffed the letter deeper into his pack, no one was to find out why he was here.
The air was thick. Nikolai followed the large crowd of people inside. The various people interested Nikolai greatly, as he glanced at everyone. He immediatly signed up for a tour that goes through all of the zones. Dinosaurs. He thought to himself. Never in his lifetime would he believe that dinosaurs could be brought back to life. Nikolai began to skim through his dinosaur book.

OOC- Sorry for late psot, computer wasn'y working.
IC- A helicopter with the Tyrannosaur of Breitenburg on the side dropped down. Dr. Rick Harris stepped out. The paleontologist sent by the Holy Emperor to observe and collect data on dinosaurs. Rick was excited to be here. He loved dinosaurs. He especially wanted to see the Tyrannosaurs. Breitenburg's Tyrannosaurs weren't as large as extinct ones. He hurried to join the others. He would get set up ans then explore the area.

John began to follow Odel, while noticing the conspicuous gentleman who had just arrived and left. He slowly began heading out the back door to where Odel said the jeeps would be, His favorite song had just come on to, everything seemed great the scenery was a nice change back to the urban scene back home. He quietly sung the lyrics to himself, while taking pictures with his digital camera.
"So if you don't mind be starting any small talk and you'll probably be getting to know me the next couple of days, How long you been here in charge of this operation. Looks to me well run, obviously you must have the qualifications, and one other important question that has been bugging me. How do you keep them, the dinosaurs, isolated and away from us, the park visitors?"

"Well, theres hundreds, sir. We have everything from Orthacanthus's in the swamp sector, to Megalodon's in the sea sector. We have Dryosaurus, Gallimimus, Homalocephale and Styracosaurus's to Brachiosaurus. And we have Albertosaurus's, Acrocanthosaurus, and Carcharadontosaurus. And of course theres the Rex."

The three Miehmish tourists got into the same jeep, waiting for things to get going was the worst part, but it should be interesting enough...

"So, um, are there any tours or such today, or is that tomorrow, etc?"

12-01-2006, 00:39
"No, not really."
Johan replied to passenger question.
"And anyway, in reply to your previous questions, I've been head-of-security since the project started. I was in Malgeria, you see. Oh, you probably haven't heard about that, have you? Well that was a war, and I managed to keep my beach head secure against enemy forces. So the Government noticed me and assigned me here. And we use large, electric charged fences. Behind these, there are scent repellents that keep the dinosaurs in even if the fences malfunction."

Lisa caught up to the man carrying what looked like a heavy back-pack and duffell bag and watched him pull another soda out of his pack. Military issued, she thought. Hoping into the jeep with Odel, she barely listened as the man with the headphones seemed to bombarde Odel with questions. Obviously, he wanted to get rid them all. Nikolai got the back of a jeep filled to the brim with eager tourists. He pulled out his video camera. He looked to his left seeing a man sitting next him. He looked on his right and saw a young woman. She was saying something about the island. Nikolai put in a new cartiridge into his camera, however he didn't turn it on. Batteries were a valuable. He dug into his pockets pulling out a stick of gum. There were three other people speaking in a odd language infront of him. He glanced around the landscape trying to see a dinosaur.
Ed walked up to one of the jeeps that wasn't full, and got in. He set his pack to the side, and took the CD player and put it in. He gazed around at the other guests. They were very talkative, he thought.
He had heard something about a security center, and wondered if thats where they were headed.

Rick looked at all the dinosaurs in the book. Amazing. "Question. How close can we get to the dinosaurs, specificlly the Tyrannosaurus Rex? The Holy Emperor of Breitenburg told me to give this to you. It is a request to let me get as close as needed to a Tyrannosaurus. If I am injured, you will not be liable for anything. Also, when can we get moving?"
OOC- Are you using the JP3 Spinosaurus or the real one, which was only 30ft long and ate mostly fish and carrion?

"Yeah, I know what you mean." Lisa replied, shaking John's hand, "But hey, it could be....What the hell...." The jeep came to sudden stop and she barely had time to brace herself against the dashboard, her right arm striking it painfully.
"Jesus, Odel, I hope your shooting skills are better than your driving....oh...is that....whoa..." She let out a deep breath, as she turned to look at why they stopped, still rubbing the sore spot on her arm where she had hit the dashboard. She wasn't worried about that now. Now, all there was were the dinosaurs.
Never in her life did she imagine to see anything so beautiful. There was three dryosaurs running across the road, no more than 20 yards in front of them. It was amazing, seeing them run, using the tail for balance. Nothing could have prepared her for this.
For once in her life, Lisa Stafken was speechless.

Ed watched in awe as the dinosaurs crossed the road. He quickly came out of a stare and fumbled around in one of his pockets for his cell phone. Opening it, he tried to take a picture, but only caught the tail of one of the dinos.

And if anything happens to me, just know your not liable, but you might get on the Emperor's bad side. No threats, just a telling you what he told me."

In the jeep with the Miehmish representatives, there was music playing too, the subtle strains of Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne filled the jeep as they watched the dinosaurs that crossed their path.
You see life through distorted eyes, you know you had to learn
The execution of your mind, you really had to turn
The race is run, the book is read, the end beginst to show,
The truth is out, the lies are old, but you don't want to know
Nobody will ever let you know, when you ask the reasons why
They just tell you that you're on your own,
Fill your head all full of lies....
The people who, have crippled you, you want to see them burn,
The gates of life have closed on you, and there is no return,
your wishing that the hand of doom could take your mind away,
and you don't car if you don't see again the light of day
Nobody will ever let you know, when you ask the reasons why
They just tell you that you're on your own,
Fill your head all full of lies....
YOU BASTARDS!
"Thomas Sunday, what is this, and why are we listening to it?"
"Well Tirdal, it's Black Sabbath, and I like it."
"Black Sabbath, is that not a bad omen in your culture?"
"It is, this song in particular was considered rather unpleasant, it's called Sabbath, Bloody Sabbath..."

It would be a while until anything got done, so Rick pulled out his iPod and turned it on. Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit" graced his ears.
"Load up on guns, bring your friends
It's fun to lose and to pretend
She's overboard and self-assured
I know, i know , a dirty word
Hello, hello , hello how low,
Hello, hello, hello,how low,
Hello, hello, hello...
With the lights out, it's less dangerous
Here we are now, entertain us
I feel stupid, and contagious
Here we are now , entertain us
A mulatto, an albino, a mosquito, my libido,
Yeah
I'm worse at what I do best
And for that gift I feel blessed
Our little group has always been
And always will until the end
Hello, hello, hello, how low
Hello, hello, hello, how low
Hello, hello, hello
With the lights out, it's less dangerous
Here we are now, entertain us
I feel stupid and contagious
Here we are now entertain us
A mulatto, an albino, a mosquito, my libido,
Yeah
And i forget just why i taste
Oh yeah, i guess it makes me smile
I found it hard, it's hard to find
Oh well, whatever, nevermind
Hello, hello, hello, how low
Hello, hello, hello, how low
Hello, hello, hello
With the lights out, it's less dangerous
Here we are now, entertain us
I feel stupid and contageous
Here we are now, entertain us
A mulatto, an albino, a mosquito, my libido,
A denial

Finally, Kristine came driving up opposite Odel in front of the Security Center. Odel popped up, and began speaking in his native tongue. He didn't want the foriengers to hear this.
"Dort sind Sie! Ich könnte etwas Hilfe verwendet haben, welche die ärgerlichen Fragen beantwortet!"
Odel yelled. Kristine jumped out of jeep and looked at Odel.
"Was bedeuten Sie? Theres hundert der Leute hier, die Ihnen geholfen haben würden! Die Forscher und die anderen Förster!"
Kristine screamed back.
"Ich holte einige von ihnen, aber sie stellten mir Fragen nur!"
Odel once again shouted back.
"Wie daß ist meine Störung?"
Odel shook his head.

"Welcome to the Park everyone. If you'd please take a minute to register, you can begin the tour. To your left and right, you'll notice several large consoles. Simply step up to one of them and enter personnel information and it will take a picture of you, and it will print the picture and information out on an ID card. Lisa grabbed her backpack and jumped out of the jeep leaving behind her other two bags, glad to get away from the conflicting jumble of music she heard. She was still awestruck by her first dinosaur encounter, and the reality of it all was finally starting to hit her.
"Let's do this" she said, giving a huge smile to the new ranger. Odel gave her the creeps and she was glad to be rid of him. Hopefully for a long while, she thought, and even though the heat was still stifling, she couldn't help but shiver.
Something was tickling in the back of her mind, she just couldn't figure out what it was. Looking around, she noticed that two of the tourists, the pale "twitchy" looking men were no longer with them. Funny.
With a last glance over her shoulder, Lisa shrugged off the weird feeling, and followed the rest into the center, already thinking about the cold shower she wanted to take as soon as she got checked in.

The black cloth drifted gently to the floor, the words on it becoming clear. Written in plain, white text were the words "TLA", and below it, in smaller text were written many Tocrowkian words, which would be undecipherable to any foreigner.

"Right. I guess I should explain."
Kristine said. She walked forward and pulled her own GPS out, and held it so everyone could see it.
"This is the Tocrowkian G1 Personnel Global Positioning System. These were specially produced for the park. The control pad on the left side of the screen scrolls up and down from a birds eye view of the island. You are the red dot on the map. Well, at least your GPS is. The "a" and "b" buttons switch to a 3D, first person view of the area you are in, and you can look around with the control pad. The GPS has all important areas, zones, and locations programmed into it. You will also notice the HUD in the right hand corner. You can scroll over to a location with the control pad, press the "a" button on it, and it will show how many miles, kilometers, and feet you are away from the location. They are battery operated, and have enough energy for five days, running twenty-four hours straight."
She paused.
"Now, if you can please follow me, Commander Odel and the rest of the rangers out back into the jeeps, we'll drive you to the hotel."
She finished, walking outside with Odel and the others and each getting in a jeep, waiting for the tourists.
Conrad stood behind the rest of the group, looking around. He stuffed his ID Card into his pocket, and went up to look at a GPS unit. He noticed two men by a door, and he looked away before either of them would notice him.
Putting the unit down, he stepped into the group, wondering when they would move on...

She knew she could be a little stand-offish at times, and her dry, sarcastic sense of humor was not generally appreciated. She didn't want to scare the guy off. It would be fun to explore the island with another person, rather than going on her own.
Commander Odel? And here I thought he was nothing more than a glorfied park ranger. She followed John and the rest of te group out to the jeeps, noticing that the two men with the black armband hanging back.
Ed was mezmerized by this new toy. He wondered how useful it could be, out in the park. Still staring at the device, he started off after the rangers. This heat would get to him soon, especially with his long cargo pants.

John hurried down so he could catch up to Lisa, Looks liike I made a new friend already.
The incessant honking finally broke the GPS's spell on Ed. He looked up, and saw an impatient looking ranger in one of the jeeps. Putting the small device away, he ran up to it, and jumped in the back.

Reluctantly, she jumped into the backseat of Odel's jeep and began tinkering with her GPS. She had a knack for computers, and quickly got a feel for the new gadget.
Glancing up, she saw John running up from the last jeep towards the one Odel was driving. A little relaxation never hurt. She turned and waved him into the empty seat next to her.

He had been on enough safaris to know that no matter what animals can always smell humans. His room was filled with cool air, the large TV was put right infront of the bed. Nikolai rarely stayed in hotels, but he could tell this place was very lavish. The king size bed was softer than cotton. Where did the Tocrowkian government get all this money? "Od...I mean Mr. Od...Commander Odel?" Lisa called to him, still struggling to get out of the jeep, catch up with him, and keep an eye on the two men at the same time.
"Just quick, I promise, quick question. Director of the labs? Where do I find him...ummm...hold on, Dr... Dr..." She fumbled in her bag for the letter she received in the mail. She hated that Odel could fluster her so easily. Normally, she was cool and calm, especially around men, but this one seemed to unnerve her so much.
She looked up from her backpack, seeing Odel walk away. Thanks for the help she thought.
The short ride to the hotel was an amazing one for Ed. Those few minutes had been more awe-inspiring than anything else he could think of. Dinosaurs, wow, and lots of em. He took note of Odel's apparent lack of interest. Ed could imagine, being around them all day, the effect must wear off.
"Where will you be heading, Odel?" he asked, while grabbing his pack. "To some sort of control room, probably. "Yeah, I know. Under stress, too many questions, I know, I've been there. I'm just...." what was she really? Frustrated? Nervous? Excited? She decided on the one thing that would sum it all up. "Jet-lagged, I guess."
She went on quickly, not quite sure what she was doing, but going for it anyways. This man intrigued her, and she didn't know why. "Listen, Odel said we can have our pick of the rooms. Why not get two next to each other on the same floor. That way we can maybe grab dinner and explore some of the sights together after a quick shower and nap. I mean alone. The nap and shower part, alone..." She trailed off, blushing.

He tried to look noticing her blushing and trying not to make lisa feel uncomfortable. She was a cute girl he felt awkward trying to talk to her though, I mean his horrible luck with women, So John quickly disperesed the idea out of his head and began to walk on inside.
"Well let's go take care of this and get settled in"

"Yeah, and yeah."
Odel replied. With a deep sigh, he quickened his pace toward the hotel as he walked in. He passed the other tourists and staff, and went into a coffee shop. He walked up to the counter and placed to Assairuguards on the counter in front of the waiter.
"Usual."
He muttered. Soon enough, he was served a steaming cup of black coffee. He poured to packs of sugar in, and stirred it with the small straw. He leaned back in the comfortable wooden chair, and sipped at the hot liquid. He hoped no one would find him in here while he was relaxing, because quite honestly he was sick of everyone at the moment.
Meanwhile, outside the Hotel...
Kristine jammed two Assairuguards into the soda machine, and selected her favorite soft drink. She grabbed and opened the can, and walked back to the jeep. She drove back to the security center and drank along the way, and had a cigarette. She'd been meaning to quit for awhile, but she always smoked when she was nervous. Something wasn't right...

Lisa walked into the atrium of the hotel, holding the door open for John, and was taken aback. The outside was even more elaborate than the inside. They obviously spared no expensive. On one large wall was an elaborate mural of the island, complete with almost life-size painted replicas of most of the dinosaurs found in the park.
Walking up to the mahogany desk, the beautiful blonde looked up and smiled at both of them, "Welcome. Please, can I see your ID's?" Lisa handed hers over, grimacing at the picture. "Any room preference?" Lisa glanced at John, who shrugged.
"What floors are the others who came in with us staying?" Lisa asked, thinking back to the two men with the armbands from the security center. She shivered again. The thought of sleeping with dinosaurs running around didn't scare her as much as the thought of those men being under the same roof, let alone the same floor as them, did.
"They are scattered all over the hotel 'mam," Lisa smirked at being called mam'. It made her feel old. "I do have a room with a beautiful view on the 24th floor. I am sure you and your husband would love it."
Lisa again, turned bright red, "We aren't, no....two rooms please."
The blonde clicked on the keyboard. "We have two adjoining rooms on the same floor. The view is equally amazing. Rooms 2417 and 2419. Your ID cards will act as your room keys. If you need anything, just pick up the courtesy phone in your rooms and dial 9. Please remember everything is on the house."
"Thanks." Lisa mumbled, still a little red in the face. She turned and headed toward the elevator, keeping up pace with John.

"Wow that was pretty awkward huh? Who woulda thought they'd assume us together" John pressed the elevator button
"Ahh well I don't think I'd personally have a problem with that" John thought to himself idiot that sounds so cheesy. The elevator door opened and John stepped in Lisa following. John pressed for the 24th floor and looked over at Lisa, something about her was he couldn't put his finger on it and all his years of writing and thinking that he understood life, Felt completely bewildered. Some part of him told me everything was alright while the other half said to be careful and keep your head focused. The door opened and they we're on the 24th floor. John walked Lisa to her room.
"We'll I hear the view is great up here, I guess I should get going and ugh... Get my shower and other stuff set up" John somewhat stutterstepped unsure whether to hug or just walk away and after he passed her turned around and said "Lisa I forgot" and gave her a hug unsure whether or not she felt uncomfortable. He than quickly turned around and headed to his room. Feeling the red in his face and the smile start to show.

Rick decided to take a break before he went out in the field. He got showered, got dessed, and got something to eat. Then he retired to his room. He listened to his iPod and played his DS, before finally going to sleep.
Ed, instead of heading straight inside, took the little GPS unit and played around with it. He soon found himself, and the hotel. Looking at the immediate area around the building, he decided that there wasn't much worth looking at around here, yet. He really wanted to get out in the park.
Starting toward the hotel, he noticed the other ranger drive back the way they had come, from the security center. Once inside the hotel, he was quite impressed with the quality of the place.
At the counter, he tried for a room on the first floor. He wanted to get up and out as early as possible, and waste no time at this place. This was a once in a lifetime event, and he wanted to get as much out of it as he could.

Lisa returned the hug, taken slightly a back at John's forwardness. He doesn't seem like the bold type was her immediate thought. She didn't mind, though. In fact, she enjoyed having a guy around who was more take-charge than she was for once. This may be more fun that I even thought. She felt the embarassment and akwardness from before slip away, as she stepped away from him.
"Let's met up later. Say, I dunno, maybe couple hours? Just knock on my door when you get up. Then we can hit the island." She smiled at John, and, despite herself, felt a little tingly when he smiled back.
With a smile still on her face, Lisa swiped her ID card and walked into the room. Room was an understatement. This was far nicer than any place she had even. The muted blues and greens in the room gave her a sense of being in the amidst the tropical plants outside. In the center of the room was a huge king size bed with more pillows than she knew what to do with. It was at that moment that she realized how completely exhausted she was. Pulling a bottle of water out from the small, well-stocked fridge, Lisa flopped on the bed. There is no way in hell I am getting out of bed to take a shower right now.
Her mind played back the events of the day, and the last thought she had before drifting off to sleep was that of the men with the black armband. TLA, she thought, what the heck is a TLA?
<<OOC: Won't be on till late tonight. Long day ahead>>
Conrad wearily went up to the counter, said he was a tourist, and requested a room on the third floor. He didn't like being too high up.

"Hey, commander. I'm going back to the hotel for awhile. It's my break and I want to get something real to eat."
Kristine announced. Odel was a bit suprised at her eccentric behaviour, going back and fourth, from the hotel was a bit odd, but he was to tired to care.

Rick woke up. He looked at the clock. It was early. He would try to get some more sleep. He picked up the book Odel had given him. Each area had something called a dominant predator. TheAquatuc zone had Basilosauus, a 60ft, serpentine whale. Jungle Zone had Tyrannosaurus Rex. Rick smiled at the thought. Mountain Zone had Argentavis, a giant bird of prey with a 30ft wingspan, , Swamp had Deinosuchus, a 40 ft crocodile, Grass Lands had Allosaurus and Desert Zone had Carcaradontosaurus, a 39ft predator with shark like teeth. There were other animals as well. The Aquatic Zone and Grasslands had a large number of predators, but they were smaller in the grasslands, and fully aquatic in Aquatic. Rick went back to sleep, with thoughts of Giant Predators in his head.

Washing his face with cold water. The cloak he brought said 4:30 A.M. Knowning that he could not get anymore sleep he decide to check out this place alittle more. Putting on some cloths and combat boots then grabbing his GPS, ID card, a picture of his Steve Demidov and Nick Checotarevich his friends, and combat knife he went out the door. It seem like everyone was asleep when closed the door to his room. Walking down the stairs he wondered where they were going to have breakfast. He found a guard and went up to him.
"I was just wondering where do we eat breakfast?"
Back where he lived he usually ate this early to go deer hunting. While thinking of this he wondered how it would feel to hunt a dinosaur.
Ed woke early, his excitement got to him. He couldnt bare sleeping long in this place. He decided to take a shower. The warm water did good, and he was ready to take a longer look at the place.
It was still dark outside, so he put a flashlight and batteries in one of his pockets. Ho also took the GPS, though he didn't plan on going far. First, though, he needed something to eat.
He walked to the counter, and asked if they served breakfast this early.

John went into his room and sat down on his bed, still taking in everything that had occured today, the two shady characters, Odel's tough guy attitude, Lisa, and the fact that there are real live dinosaurs on the island. Yes even though John wasn't interested he was still quite amazed they could create live dinosaurs. He sat down and turned on his labtop and uploaded the pictures from today, checked his e-mails nothing new except some spam and a letter from his daughter... wishing he'd come home soon. He turned it off and hopped in the shower and went to bed...
Later that morning he awoke, unable to sleep with all of the days current events. He put his iPod and chose his mellow out playlist consisting of bands like Coldplay... And decided to head downstairs and see if there was anyway to get ahold of some food, his stomach was definately craving some attention.

IC: Susan grimaced at the picture on the ID card she had been given as she placed it on a table in the hotel room she had gotten on the top floor. She had picked that floor because mosquitoes usually don't go that high up.
"Its no wonder SeaQuest doesn't use that method of identification anymore," she thought to herself, "and this heat is going to be a problem. Good thing I brought plenty of deodorant."
She rummaged through her bag and pulled out her PADD. She placed it next to the GPS unit that she had gotten. She planned to do a little tinkering later and get the map onto the PADD. She also pulled out her uniform and laid it out for the next day to wear.
"Looks like I'm going to have to wear this," she sighed aloud contemplating the uniform, "Its the only thing I brought that breathes."
She changed into a flannel nightgown after taking a shower. She picked up her PADD and opened up the E-Book on Dinosaurs she had uploaded to it and was currently reading. She climbed onto the bed and continued reading from where she had last left off. She set it so that the PADD's alarm so that it would go off in the morning, after the PADD updated its internal clock by connecting to the atomic clock located thousands of miles away while she slept.
"I'll finish this chapter," she thinks, "Then I'll go up to the roof and get some shots of the stars with the camera."

She cracked her neck and thought, "I wonder if I could get this mattress changed. Its too 'fluffy' for my tastes."
She took another shower to wake herself up before changing into her uniform.
She sighed, aloud, "Good thing I brought enough spares to last for two weeks. Just hope nobody minds that I'm most comfortable in this, physically and mentally."
She gathered her Credit Chit, Identi-Card, and the Park ID and put them in a convient pocket. She picked up the Holo-Camera and PADD and left the room to get some coffee and breakfast.

Lisa walked over to Odel, determined not to let the man get to her today in the slightest. After sleeping such a deep and restful sleep, she felt fully ready to handle anything he threw at her.
She leaned against Odel's jeep and, opening the soda, took a long drink. Who knowns, he might actually be in a good mood. That, and maybe I can catch a little sun. The last few months of working nearly 70 hrs a week in the lab had recked havoc on her tan.
Dryosaurs ran past the jeep, no more than three feet from where she was standing. She watched them run through the parking lot, skirting around various other jeeps and utility cars. "Yes!" Rick thought. He looked in his book to see the creatures in the ocean zone.

3. Elasmosaurus- 40ft pleisiosaur(loch ness monster)

"This is going to be awesome. By the way, how do you contain the aquatic creatures.
OOC- Note, the things in parenthesis are descriptions by me, they might seem stupid, but it's the easiest way I could describe some of them.

15-01-2006, 23:48
"Then how will we see them if they are underground?" Mike was glad that they were moving now. While talking he put on some sunglasses.
Ed, in the second jeep on the ocean tour, had overheard the man in the other jeep talking about what dinosaurs they would see. He had only heard of a few of them before, like the Icthyasaurs, and of course, Elasmosaurus.
He wondered how they would be seen, if they were under water.

"I already said, Ocean zone."

He announced, before he started up the jeep and sped off toward Desert Zone.

Lisa had jumped into the back of the jeep Odel was driving. Overhearing the conversation in Kristine's jeep, she understood why Odel had gotten so testy and planned on keeping her converations with Odel to a miniumum.
Scrounging in her backpack, she found her digital camera at the bottom and flicked it on. Gotta get a few pics she thought and starting snapping away at the trees around her. She took a few shots of the hotel to e-mail back to her little sister, knowing she would have loved to be here with her.
Finaly, Odel jumped into the driver's seat of the and took off. Lisa grabbed the back of the seat, bouncing around as the jeep hit ever bump in the road. It was going to be a long day.

"I hope those idiots don't try hitting on her."
Odel stated, thinking out loud actually.
Meanwhile, Kristine and the jeep behind her pulled up in front of a small building near the ocean.
"Alright everyone, lets go inside. Theres a lift there that will take us down to the bases."
She said, getting out.

Rick leaned over to Mike and whispered to him. "We should lay of the questions, she seems to start acting like Odel. And we don't want that."
OOC: Blargh... Jolt went down for me, and now I guess I've missed something... Probably important too... :p
IC:
Conrad hopped out of the jeep, his backpack safely on his shoulder, and walked to the building with the rest of the group, keeping a wary eye out for any curious dinosaurs. He wondered if they just kept the big ones locked up and the harmless ones let loose.
He felt a tingle go down his back at the thought of live dinosaurs let free around the park...

Kristine stepped into the elevator and held the door open for everyone.
"Come on, lets go."
She said.
Breitenburg
16-01-2006, 03:39
Rick followed Kristine into the elevator. He was interested in the aquatic beasts. He was a little nervous though. He held the concealed handgun that Odel gave him. He hoped it wouldn't have to be used.
MadmCurie
16-01-2006, 03:40
It seemed like they had been driving forever. Lisa couldn't resist the urge any longer. Leaning over, she tapped Odel on the shoulder. "Listen, I know you are sick of all the questions, but how much farther?"
Tocrowkia
16-01-2006, 03:50
Odel's group:
"We're here."
Odel said. "Desert zone." He and the others got out and walked calmly over to an armored vehicle, Odel ushering them all in. All of the group fit snugly into the vehicle, and Odel took it in. They drove out into the barren fields for about a mile before they could see an Acrocanthosaurus about five meters ahead of them take down a Ouranosaurus, a sight which cheered Odel up a little.
Kristines group:
"Let's go."
She said, pressing a button and causing the elevator to descend. After about a minute, they reached the under ground base. She led them out into the concrete corridors, which had glass roofs, out of which they could clearly see the outline of a massive Shark....
Canadstein
16-01-2006, 03:53
"Your probably right Rick." Mike said as he followed Kristine. As the elevator went down Mike took off his sunglasses. Once getting down he saw the outline of a shark. Mike pointed toward it.
"Hey Rick what is that?"
As they exited the elevator, Ed noticed the outline that Mike had pointed at.
"Whoa." Was all he could manage to say.
He didn't like sharks of the normal variety, but this, this one was huge.

16-01-2006, 04:40
Lisa couldn't belevive what she was seeing. The armored vehicle Odel had usehered them into was cramped, but now she was oblivous to everyone else in the truck.
She squirmed in her seat and twisted to watch the dinsaurs attack. Their pure, raw primitivness of it all struck her at once. She snapped a few pictures and contiuned to watch the Acrocanthosaurus eat. No one in the truck spoke, they were all struck by the scene. Glancing up at Odel, she thought she even saw a smile on his face, or what passed off as a smile for him anyways.
OOC: Wait... Lemme see what jeep I took... Ok...
IC:
Conrad found an out-of-the-way spot for his pack, then looked out the window, watching the beast eat the remains of the dead dinosaur. He gaped for a moment, then quickly remembered his camera. Pulling it out, he snapped a quick shot of the Acrocanthosaurus as it looked at the armored truck for a moment.

OOC: wasn't sure who else was in the jeep w/me...
Lisa turned to the man sitting in the jeep with her. "Neat, hey?" She held out her hand, "I'm Lisa."
Conrad blinked a few times after being shaken out of his wonder, then looked at the woman next to him.
"I'm Conrad, nevermind the last name," He said, shaking Lisa's hand.
"It's a bit frightening as well... I mean, that is, it's kind of scary to know these things are right here, on the same island with us. Hey, did you see those other creatures back in the parking lot? Kind of startled me for a bit," He added, thinking back to the little scene at the parking lot.
MadmCurie
16-01-2006, 05:34
"Yeah, I know," Lisa said, turning to watch the scence out the window. They were driving pass the carcas of the dinosaur, and up close, it was more guresome than she expected. She looked away with a shiver.
"I thought all the dinosaurs were supposed to be locked up in cages. How is it that some of the dinos are running around like that?" She thought back to the brouchure Odel had tossed at one of the tourists realizing that there may be very, very vicious animals running around the park.

16-01-2006, 18:05
Rick turned to see a Basilosaurus. The top predaotr of the ocean. 60ft of predatory Malice. It swum around calmly. Then, a small icthyasaur appeared in the Basilasaurus's pen. It shoot foward with great speed and crushed the icthyosaur in it's jaws.

16-01-2006, 18:35
Mike turned to Rick. "Jesus!" Then turned to see the carnage. The Icthyasaur had no chance of living.
Conrad looked out his window, and wondered what else they might see.
Reaching into his backpack, he rummaged around for his little bag of taco's, but only found a battered plastic bag with some crumbs.
Must've been one of those small dinosaurs around the parking lot, He thought with growing annoyance.
As he watched the terrible scene outside, Ed thought back to all of the movies that had "sea monsters" in them. They paled in comparison to the real thing.
"Awesome." he said, but after thinking for a second, "So, we're positive that they cant break through, right?"
He continued to stare at the Basilosaurus in awe.

"Yeah, I agree with Rick. That thing would be freakin awesome to see up close." said Ed, as he continued to watch the monster.
