Spoor smiled. "I'll be disappointed if my planet is not the most beautiful planet in your maps." A slight chuckle escaped her lips.

She gestured her hands to zoom the map back out. She studied the room carefully and then brought the focus on a planet that was mainly controlled by large waters. She studied it for awhile. It had only a few small land masses. "Where is this?"
New Dornalia

Robert beamed onboard, and said, "What a rush....why didn't you tell me this was so awesome?"

He then looked about, and notcied the chart demonstration. He looked at it, and said, "Fascinating...."

OOC: Now that I am in the other threads can I post here?
The Humankind Abh

OOC: If you want to then I imagine that would be fine. Just make an intry post.

"Well, Admiral," Bridger said, "this is in Exploration mode at the moment. Labels are only present when it is in Navigation mode. Of course, then you wouldn't have the free-form control you have now."
The Humankind Abh
28-10-2005, 16:19
Spoor looked at him quizzically. "You have a map of the systems you control but don't have them labeled or know which one is which? Even if it is exploration mode, don't you think you should know what planet is which?"

Spoor looked at him quizzically. "You have a map of the systems you control but don't have them labeled or know which one is which? Even if it is exploration mode, don't you think you should know what planet is which?"

Robert then said, "I must concur. It would be nice to have labels on a planet of interest, with tooltips and clickable intel." Glancing about, he then said, "The system itself looks rather fine, but that's an issue."
SeaQuest
30-10-2005, 08:46
Bridger said, "I guess that I should mention that this is the first room of its kind and is one of the newer features here. We have only programmed in the two modes currently," he paused, "I'm sure that our techs would be willing to listen to any suggestions you may have when they program in new stuff for this."
The Humankind Abh

Spoor smiled as she continued in Exploration mode. She flew through a few systems, studying planet after planet. She finally stopped at a system with a single star and brought her focus to the third planet. "I want the planet that I rule as Baroness to look like this with a few slight modifications."

The planet look much like earth with the majority of the planet covered with water. It had several landmasses and all of them looked lush with life. "The planet is full of life only that it is has multi rings around it. The atmosphere also has a slight purplish hue to it."

She smiled at Bridger. "Besides the addition of names for planets, I would like you technicians to make my ruling planet look that. Something artisitcal. That's what I fancy." Her smile took in her ears.

Bridger said, "Admiral, the planets in here are depicted photo-realistically," he made a gesture to indicate the room itself, "Nothing in here has had any liberties taken with it," he looked at her, "Though, if you wish to design an M-class planet of your own, the class of ship we are developing with Project Titan may help you there, though we are a long, long way of from any practical tests of that Project right now."

He returned to the console and pressed a few keys. Three systems sprung out from the cosmos while the rest receded.

"These are," he said as he gestured at them, "Our home systems. In order from left-to-right, they are the Abh capital system, the New Dornalia capital system, and the SeaQuest capital system."

OOC: Not playing favorites with the order of the systems. Just went ABC order.
The Humankind Abh
01-11-2005, 16:33
OOC: Sorry if you misunderstood. She was actually describing what her home planet looked like.

IC: Spoor looked at the Abh system. Everything appeared to be in order. "We could one thing to your maps. The location of the Sord Raizas. Other than that, the system looks good."
SeaQuest

Bridger replies, "Stellar Cartography works in conjunction with Astrometrics. Of course, this is the three-dimensional representation of the universe. Astrometrics, well that a different system altogether.

"And, like I said before, any input you have would be greatly appreciated. Perhaps a mode can be programmed in that only displays the 'sord network'," he presses a few keys and the view shifts to a three-dimensional maze of colored lines, "this, for example, is the latest chart of the wormhole network that runs throughout the Draconis Galaxy."
The Humankind Abh
03-11-2005, 02:03
Spoor nodded. "I suppose that could be done. It may take some time though as we are still exploring all Sords and where they lead. We will get that to you once we are finished though."
SeaQuest
03-11-2005, 07:45
Bridger nodded in understanding.

Smiling, he said, "We use a similar technology as in here," he makes a gesture meant to imply the entire room, "in other applications as well. As this is just a bunch of holograms, we can use it to train soldiers in combat scenarios with the safeties engaged. That means, they can take a holographic blade to the gut in training and live so they don't make the same mistake on a real battle field."
The Humankind Abh
03-11-2005, 16:26
"That is a good idea but there is still no replacement for actual combat. Our men practice hand to hand combat with one another and use mock weapons either wooden or with padding." She smiled. "There is no training that is more enjoyable than the joust. I see where you are coming from though."

Robert then said, with a puzzled look, "Jousting? Jousting seems a bit archaic to me. Our men go through drill, basic karate, boxing, simulated bayonet combat, etc., all in real time. Very effective training, tried and true methods."
SeaQuest
04-11-2005, 04:46
Bridger nods, "A good point, Admiral. We have the gymansium and arenas for several sports for physical training. But, the physical exertion a person goes through when doing the holographic training is as real as if they were doing it for real. Plus, injuries are possible. In fact, their is an engineer aboard who likes to use the holo-suites for kyaking(sp?). He has dislocated his shoulder several times," he pauses, "The safeties are only their to prevent anything fatal from happening."
The Humankind Abh
04-11-2005, 04:58
Spoor smiled. "Ah yes jousting. Not just any jousting though. It is something that young cadets get to do during their Star Forces training. We train them in all sorts of hand combat and other forms of martial arts to make them well rounded. This is for fun made into a game but still serves it's purpose. It involves zero gravity and a single elastic cord. Both contestants plant their feet together in a sprinters position as they float to the center of the room. They push off until the cord stretches to its limit and then they it constricts, bringing them screaming back to each other. Now, they have what we call a joust in one hand. It's a three foot metal rod with a ball at the end. The idea is to knock the joust from the other person's hand."
SeaQuest

Bridger smiles, "Sounds like it could be quite fun, Admiral. Perhaps we should install a jousting room in Atlantis. Some of the youngsters might even enjoy it."

Robert then said, "I concur; it would make good training for zero-g combat. Plus, on a side note, Amerikanski Pravda, People's TV, and ESPN 8 would love to get some new sports programming."
The Humankind Abh
06-11-2005, 04:51

The Humankind Abh

The Humankind Abh
07-11-2005, 04:13
Spoor nodded. "Ah yes my apologies. When there is time, we can move back to the arena in the capital and have you spar with someone. I'm afraid that the best jouster is away with the Emperor at the moment but they should be returning soon. Hopefully."

"Well," Bridger said, "we may not have a 'jousting' arena, but some of the labs on Atlantis are equipped with variable gravity rooms. Perhaps we can refit one of the larger ones.

"I know the engineers would just love to have something to do instead of just sitting around like lumps on a log."
The Humankind Abh
09-11-2005, 16:37
"Hmmmm. That might work."

She activates her cluyuno on her right wrist. "Tech department, I need two lances and one jousting chord."

"Right away Admiral."

Spoor looked back up to the guests. "It should be here shortly."

"And easier to use," Bridger adds, "then a Rune Stone or a Vo'cume," he sighs before adding, mostly to himself (thinking aloud), "I'll just have to have some SeaQuestian engineers come up with a small, easy to use, and not hand-held for the next generation personnel communication device. Perhaps something with a biometric identification system built-in."
The Humankind Abh
11-11-2005, 05:17
Spoor smiled as she looked down at her hand. The red cloth that surrounded the blue jewel attached to her wrist and uniform and stretched up to fit around her middle finger with a small loop. "This is a cluyuno, the standard communicator of the Abh Empire. It will contact anyone that is wearing one within a certain distance. It won't stretch across the galaxies. Well not this one anyways. There are those can reach others long distances."

She lifted her hand up. "It does just about everything from communication to listing the menu of the meals on board any ship."

"Well then perhaps that is something else we can show you how to make. I imagine the technology that goes into this little device would be quite alright to let you see and tinker with."

Robert then said, "I was thinking the same thing.....where is our next destination? There's a lot more to see of this wonderful ship, and if this room was any indication, its gonna be sweet."

He then winced, thinking, "Mental note-no rocker speak."

Bridger pressed a key on the control panel and the room returned to the orignal view.

Walking to the door, he said, "We modified this room to work with the control console to make it easier to use. Originally it was activated by stepping into the center of the room and had only one viewing mode.

"As for our next stop," he paused while he thought, "how about the Arboritum? Astrophysics is similar to Stellar Cartography, except its in a smaller room with maps displayed on consoles instead of the three-dimensional view in there."

Bridger opened the door and stepped through.

He looked at his chronometer and said, "At this time, I wouldn't be surprise if we ran into some of the crew's children playing in the Arboritum."
The Humankind Abh
19-11-2005, 22:53
Spoor smiled. "Reminds of the younger days of the Abh Empire where our children would accompany us into battle because we had to remain mobile. We lived off our ships until we could secure our capital."
SeaQuest

Robert then said, looking at the Arboretum, "Indeed, what a sight....this place is nice.........."

He had been gazing at it for a while, and he admired the trees, and the kids playing reminded him of his childhood in Los Angeles, as he played on the jungle gym...those were sweet days.

He then said, shaking his head and turning around, "Ah....let us go on, shall we?"

18-12-2005, 06:24
"Sorry about the lack of room," said Bridger, "but these are mostly used to transport cargo across Atlantis and really only have room to fit two people comfortably."

He reaced for the display on the wall and pressed a section of the map of Atlantis that was displayed. The doors closed and the trio experienced a flash of light. It looked like they hadn't moved at all. Then the doors opened revealing a entirely new streatch of hall-way.

"As for this fan-service you spoke of," Bridger joked, "I'm too old for such things."
The Humankind Abh
18-12-2005, 22:54
Spoor grinned at Robert's remark.

The speed of transportation was a bit impressive as they were moved to a new stretch of the ship. "And that transporter was...?"

"One of the little technologies the Ancient Alterans left behind when they abandoned Atlantis at the bottom of Altera's oceans," replied Bridger, "Its more advanced than anything used by the Empire today and we are still trying to puzzle it out."

He gestured for them to follow him as he led the way from the 'transporter' down towards the gym area.

OOC: We'll just have to RP as if ND's guy came too.

IC: "This," Bridger said after leading them down a side hall lined with thick windows allowing them to see inside various rooms, "is the Gym complex. There are handball courts, springball courts, a yoga studio, wall ball courts, a ballet studio, and that's just to name a few examples."
The Humankind Abh
19-12-2005, 02:40
Spoor looked through the windows at the various activities. "Seems interesting though I must say that these games seem different to our own and I must say that we have nothing like you ballet or yuga studios."
New Dornalia
19-12-2005, 03:56
Stepping into the gym, Robert then said, "Ballet? Handball?"

He looked about, and said, "Interesting. We have similar facilities, though they're probably not as varied or well furnished as what you've got; we've just the basics, we may or may not have the specials, like yoga and handball. We do have martial arts, though."
SeaQuest
19-12-2005, 06:18
Bridger said, "These windows are actually see-through only from this side. On the other they are mirrored. This helps during training sessions as the trainee doesn't have any distractions from outside."

He lead the way down the row to a room where a group of young women and girls were doing things with what looked like little sheets of paper.

"This," Bridger said, "is where the Paper Masters train."
The Humankind Abh
19-12-2005, 17:10

"This," Bridger said, "is where the Paper Masters train."

At the mention of this, Robert's jaw dropped. He simply replied, "Paper? As in paper I print letters of recommendation on, letters of firing, letters of all kinds on? That paper?" hearing that there were actually people trained to manipulate paper with their minds....he heard of Force Choking and Force Lightning, but not Paper Masters. He thought that was just pre-Apocalypse anime talking.

Obviously not.

OOC: You've seen Read or Die, haven't you?
SeaQuest
20-12-2005, 09:17
OOC: @New Dornalia: Yep, got most of the anime episodes and the movie (or whatever its called) recorded on my digital recorder that came with the satellite.

IC: Bridger replied, "The girls in this room are only beginners. When they reach a certain level, they will advance to the next level.

"The genetic trait that allows one to become a Paper Master occurs more often in females than males. It is also only one of the abilities that the evolving Alteran genetic structure has produced. Some of the other abilities are pyrokinetics, hydrokinetics, geokinetics, aerokinetics, telekinetics, telepathics, empathics, the ability to become invisible to the naked eye, the ability to phase through solid matter at will, and the ability to 'read' an object or area to see what has happened in the past and/or what is most likely to happen in the near future. And those are only some examples of what some Alterans are capable of doing."
The Humankind Abh
20-12-2005, 15:55

Bridger responded, "The genetic traits I mentioned, and those I didn't, were not created artificially, but are appearing naturally in the population. Its theorized that the Alteran race has reached the point in the natural evolution where the species is starting to evolve to a new level. In fact, most of the Alterans in the Empire are opposed to genetic manipulation and prefer to evolve the way Nature intended them to evolve."

Upon this reply, Robert said, "The Force allows for many of those abilities, some of the less exotic ones on that list we've seen before, used by People's Acolytes, such as the cloaking. Still, manipulating paper and noclipping through walls? That's cool."

He then said, "Alterans?"

The Alterans are human-like in appearance, the Draconians evolved from a cliff-dwelling reptile, and the Furlings evolved from a fox-like creature. There are other species, but they don't control as much space in the Empire as the three I mentioned.

"With the Alterans," Bridger said, "it goes back to around 10,000-years-ago. At that time, they a very advanced race. Then, they discovered a way to become non-corporeal beings through artificial means. Most of the population did so. Those that remained behind did so out of philisophical differences. Today, the farthest the Alterans are willing to go is a select group willing to recieve artificial enhancments through genetic manipulation and other means, but only a few are willing to do this. As for most of the technology the ancient Alterans had, most was lost and a lot of knowledge was forgotten over the course of history, knowledge like that which allowed some of their ancestors to Ascend no longer exists."
The Humankind Abh
