The large AC-XX family uses many difference calibres, so as to conform to the standard ammunition calibres used in the world to increase export potential. A mass-export permit was just issued and it was approved for military mounting on ships and vehicles.

Essentially a series of light Gatling Guns with a taste for large calibre rounds. The explosive rounds are devastating to unarmoured or thin-skinned enemimes. It is massive and its recoil is a weapon in it of itself. However, it packs a massive punch and can tear a car apart, destroy a thin-skinned APC and is great for holding a position against mobile infantry.

They can go up to 2,000 RPM, but are usually locked at 750 RPM to avoid draining the battery too quickly and draining the ammo too quickly.

There is speculation that it is a stolen Kraven design. And the AC-20 is extremely similar with the exception of the sound suppressor which creates a distinctly different sound than the Kraven weapon, it is quieter. Though the difference may lie in different styles of tactical thinking. The Kraven forces value psychological effect just as much as deadliness, Leafanistani designers want effectiveness in combat and troop surviability.

On the Leafanistani Side, it is commonly mounted on the side of destroyers and other escort vessels to eliminate torpedo boats, damage aircraft, boarding vessels, and facilitate landings. Occasionally it is seen with a rare bipod mount in the hands of elite infantry. The 20mm and 35mm system are the only versions seen as those are the two types of ammunition in current CIWS systems.

AC-145 Assault Cannon (Leafanistan)

The smallest of the series, ths AC-145 fits the Soviet/Russian 14.5mm round and provides infantry with the ability to rapidly deploy heavy machine guns to the battlefield.

MFI-9B MiniCOIN Aircraft (Sweden)

Used to great effect by the Maverick Mercenary Carl Gustav Von Rosen, this aircraft is used for Counter Insurrection duties. It is essentially the MFI-9 'kit plane' used for sporting with hardpoints added to hold another 200kg of weapons. The plane held a surprisingly large amount of weapons for its size and comes equipped with 2 9 x 57mm Rocket Pods, and 2 .50 cal Gunpods (150 rounds). It can land on dirt strips and just requires any flat piece of land and a truck to transport it. Fly it low and fast to use it to the best effect and avoid MANPADS.

Being replaced by the Yak-9UL in Mafia service, but still common on smaller insurgencies.

120mm ETC Rifled EM-Assisted Flak Gun (Kraven Corporation)

Left over in huge amounts after the AMF war, the 120mm ETC Rifled EM-Assisted Flak Gun was used to compensate for Kraven's lack of an effective air force. They used the powerful gun to annihilate aerial targets without spending money on expensive missiles. Each 50lb shell is rocket assisted to help reach the tremendous altitude of 30km.

It requires either a generator or a connection to a high amperage land line to power the assist mode which boosts the Max Alt up to 30.5km earning it the name 'Stratosphere Gun', or the max alitude is a paltry 19km which is still in the Stratosphere and can reach out and touch nearly any aircraft.

Armoured AAA Boxcar (Leafanistan)

Former Soviet Confederation cars have all ended up in Leafanistan stocks and are now on their way out, being replaced by a new modern system utilizing the 9K330 Tor. Still seen on older missile train lines, the Quad-A Boxcar is used to deter aerial attacks on the missile trains. It mounts two Gatling Gun mounts and 9K38 Igla AA Missiles. Gatling Guns are in A and C positions with the 9K38 Igla battery of 8 missiles and RADAR dish in the B center position.

Leman Russ Standard Battle Tank (Kraven Corporation)

The standard MBT for the Kraven Corporation, its immensely thick hull, and powerful engines, huge weight, and engines, make it the most terrifying main battle tank on the battlefield today. Its 170mm Main Gun destroys nearly every other known MBT on the battlefield today, the hull mounted 40mm Autocannon can penetrate MBTs at medium range, and the 2 side mounted 12.75mm Assault Cannons turn infantry into ground meat. Only at close range will kinetic kill rounds fully penetrate the terribly thick armour. However, because of its huge weight, it needs special bridges to cross terrain

The Kraven variant of the minigun, it fires the 12.75x72mm round, and is used to tear through enemy advances and let the Strumpanzer Capitol Police clean up the wounded survivors of its 1.5 kmps blasts.

Found on Sardaukar and vehicle mounted machine guns, it is common all over the Kraven Corporation and its Slave States. Made with ultralight materials it is easily transportable, perfect for killing.

Kraven 40mm Man Portable Autocannon (Kraven Corporation)

The Autocannon is a 40mm man portable support weapon, it fires High Explosive Air Burst rounds, the weapons recoil however requires it to be at least mounted onto either a bipod or Tripod, however some are mounted on Sardaukar chassis and so neither are required (However it requires the Trooper to lock the leg joints into position to prevent his movement backwards).

It destroys nearly every sort of vehicle you can imagine besides main battle tanks.

BJ2020 Scout Car (China)

Slightly heavier, prone to rollovers on sharp turns, the BJ2020 may not be the fastest, but it is tough. It can take a punch and deliver one. And it has a full 360 degree turning radius for its mounted weapon. This one comes with armor that resists shrapnel and 5.45 R rounds, sometimes, at least its fully closed so it doesn't rain on you.

Replacing the MT38 in 1975, the MT50 was constructed in massive numbers. However, the MT38 remains in service in some People's Guard Units and in private service. This is a classic. Every army needs it, every major army has lots of it, perfect for nearly anything needing to be trucked.

Battle Bus IFV (Mafia)

A modified bus used as an IFV (Infantry Fighting Vehicle). It has 3 doors, two on the front (one on each side) and a rear door. It has 6 seats on each side and seats a total of 12 infantry. It is great for terrorist organizations or any army, as it seats a ton of people or carries a lot of cargo (1.25 tons) yet is heavily armored and armed.

Using bolted on angled aluminum plates to give it an RHAe of 55mm, it can resist up to .50 cal rounds at range and can deflect RPG rounds.

A simple commercial radio is used as a communications device between vehicles.

The various different engines from the various different buses, have all been replaced with a powerful 1350 hp V8 engine.

The main weapon is a 105mm Recoilless Rifle for anti-armor use. This can be replaced by a 35mm Cannon fed by 5 round stripper clips.

The windows are modified with angled hardened glass and can resist pistol rounds and rifle rounds, and resealable slits for infantry weapons to be stuck through. It holds 1 driver, 1 commander, 1 top gunner, and 12 more passengers.

And it has nice comfy seats.

HT-201 Vanquish II Series of Modular Heavy Vehicles (Mafia)

Modified HT-101, the hull has been lengthened and the armor significantly improved. The waterjets had been abandoned and flotation properties dropped. Using armor lessons learned from the M1A2 Abrams, Challenger II and the T-90 it now boasts much thicker armor and is much more survivable on the battlefield.

The engine is mounted front and the crew and passengers enter via the rear doors. This increases the survivability and forces projectiles to pass through the entire engine block. New blowout panels for the projectile storage cabinet, derived from the M1A2 Abrams also improve survivability.

Ballistically, speaking the 201 is extremely similar to the 101 with the exception of armor composition.

Bottom front hull nearly impenetrable to all known KE weapons due to bulldozer blade, transmission, front mounted engine, and angle of plate.

Although the upper Glacis plate only presents a deflection of 36.8 degrees, at a 45 degree quartering shot, this plate has a deflection of 55.5 degrees, increasing the effectiveness of this plate by x2.25, and a fatal shot may be completely avoided by turning the tank 45 degrees to the left in the event of a head on assault.

The upper side plate is well angled at 45 degrees giving a thickness modifier of x2 while a quartering shot presents a 60-degree deflection with a thickness modifier of x5. The lower portion is doubled up and carries a space approximately 6” wide, this adds storage, or additional armor. And is estimated to be capable of 850 mm RHAe against KE, more against CE weapons.

The Achilles heel appears to be the rear plate, with 26 and 47 degree shot deflections, and limited to 3” kevlar composite with silicone carbide ballistic inserts and a thin titanium steel plating for the doors. Angle modifier is only x1.1.

Crusader Battle Suit (Mafia)

The Battle suit consists of two sets of Kevlar chest plate, shin pads (all around), thigh and quad pads, wrist and arm guards, rear and crotch guards, and neck brace. All pads, plates, etc have a thin curved sheet of titanium inside for added protection. A soldiers boot also had Kevlar/titanium padding. A thin suit made of material similar to that in a wind breaker covers the body up to the neck, this is worn between the sets of pads and plates. Said suit is often times a dark green while the Kevlar is always pitch black. All soldiers are given a small personal air conditioners/heaters to keep them comfortable in the field and also to keep them from passing out or getting frostbite in extreme weather. The thin suit attaches at the top to a Black Helmet that covers the full head.

The Crusader has voice command capabilities so that one may verbally change the temperature the conditioner/heater is putting out, contact squad members, and access various bits of data. An essential part of this (while not actually being a part of the suit) is a small attachment to the top or sights of a rifle so that one can peak around a corner without risking getting their head blown off.

It also comes with a titanium-aluminum alloy chain mail to make the suit stab proof.

MosinNagent 2010 Piercer Sniper Rifle (Jeffrey the Black)

This sniper rifle uses a 7.62mm/5.56mm "squeeze barrel" to fire a discarding sabot round at 6300 feet per second.

The projectile is a standard 5.56mm "Green Tip" SS109 armor piercing projectile.

As the projectile rides down the barrel, the plastic sabot is compressed, maintaining an excellent gas seal to produce additional muzzle velocity. Rifling is 1x12 on the long barrel, causing enough spin to make the sabot disintegrate as it leaves the muzzle.

CAR-65 Caseless Assault Rifle (Leafanistan)

A rebuild of the now canceled XAR-330 (which later became the AR-550), the CAR-65 was designed to meet the increasingly dangerous and advanced PMT battlefield.

Technically speaking it is a bullpup, top loading caseless assault rifle that gets much of its design influences from G11. The top loading magazine is a polymer copy of the ones used in the M26 and M32 rifles. However the CAR-65 ejects the rounds downward for ambidextrous support. It is meant as a cheap alternative to more expensive caseless assault rifles, with features found in the AR-550 including plastic composite body, stamped receiver, and the bullpup design to reduce length.

Its high rate of fire: 800 RPM cyclic (2200 RPM burst fire), has a tendency to heat the barrel rapidly during extended firing and it is recommended that users avoid situations in where they would have to fire hundreds of rounds without stopping.

Asthetically it is a terribly ugly rifle, and ergonomically it is uncomfortable for firing for extended periods of time from the shoulder. Mechanically it is a solid rifle.

Revolving Personal Defense Weapon (Leafanistan)

Produced by the Sokolov Design Bureau within General Resources Incorporated, this is meant as a 'Personal Defense Weapon' or a powerful weapon meant for second-line troops. They are now finding acceptance as replacements for submachine guns and pistols from the proliferation of cheap body armor. Most PDWs fire toned down rifle rounds.

However sometimes you need the full power of a rifle round. That is the reasoning behind the RPDW-556/545. The 556 and 545 are designations numbers from what rifle round that the revolver fires.

Longboat-E Class Battlecruiser

A powerful multirole Battlecruiser designed to face all modern threats, whether it is swarms of Torpedo boats, or lesser capital ships. It is designed to be able to outsmart its enemies and outgun, torpedo, missile, and anything in between.

This hull is now going to become the major surface combatant for both the Northern Baltic Navy, and the Glorious Republican Navy. Though in Leafanistani Surface it is called the Motherland-class Battlecruiser.

Stealth System

Above the thick composite armor, is a layer of plastic that absorbs RADAR and takes in input from a series of cameras on top of the ship to take in sky color. To the human eye, it interprets it as sky. The plastic layer is assembled by a new process called M13 Bacteriophage Assembly which uses genetically altered M13 Phages to grab onto various different compounds. It is easier to assemble and faster to make all the components.

Armament System

The proposed ship has probably the most interesting combination of weapons designed. There is a triple 250mm cannon to take care of big threats such as other battleships or even the dreaded dreadnought. It also carries a dual 140mm Automatic Cannon to shred smaller ships. The side mounted dual 40mm Autocannons will take care of torpedo boats or even helicopters. The missile system, uses the Russian Cold Launch Revolving VLS to support massive amounts of missiles.

The rockets on the antisubmarine armament, complement the contact mortars which are far more effective than traditional depth charges as they don't cloud SONAR if they miss.

Defense System

The inaccuracy of the Phalanx, Goalkeeper and other similar CIWS systems are well known and it requires a new weapon to throw at the enemy ship. The Sea Dart Missile, performed admirably during the Second Gulf War shooting down an antishipping missile.

Augmented with smoke and chaff launchers, it can distract and confuse enemy missiles. Its RADAR absorbent sides can easily mask its signature from older antiquated antishipping missiles.

Arbalest Class Dreadnought (Domestic)

The Arbalest class Dreadnought was designed to fill former Prime Minister Cynthia whatever, she was a National Socialist Bitch, fetish for rockets. She scrapped nearly all of Leafanistan's Pathfinders, or altered them to fit the Arbalest standard. It is one of the few ships that has a missile battery that is capable of being reloaded at sea.

It can also fire short range MRBMs in the form of the RSD-10 Pioneer. The racks for launching them are also capable of handling ZMI's Khan-class missiles. Instead of relying on VLS batteries for their heavy armament, they rely on rail based launchers that reload from internal magazines.

While there is a VLS battery for when a massive missile launch is necessary, the reloadable, ammo conserving Arm Launchers are useful for those reasons. Despite that capability the ship carries 1000 missiles and 488, nearly half of these missiles can be reloaded at sea via a tender ship instead of going to port for VLS batteries.

Mishkin Class Omnirole Superdreadnought (Domestic)

The Mishkin class Superdreadnought was the first domestically designed Superdreadnought deployed by the Leafanistani Navy, and is being phased out by Project 425N and foreign built Superdreadnoughts. The Mishkin carries a devastating missile armament, which was done purposefully as the prime antishipping weapon is a antishipping missile.

Weapons

The Mishkin is designed as an open ended ship that is capable of performing many tasks equally well. Its expansive gun armament with massive 600mm shells can turn coastal defenses into massive craters. Dozens of smaller 5" guns help with shore bombardment and can pepper and area with hundreds upon hundreds of high explosive shells, making landing operations far easier.

For antisubmarine and antishipping use, the Mishkin supports a tremendous four 850mm ultralarge torpedo tubes that is capable of taking sabots to hold smaller torpedoes. Mounted on the front of the ship below the waterline, they are meant for use during 'Crossing the T' maneuvers. Along each side, 12 dual 533mm torpedo launchers provide a useful broadside against enemy fleets.

While shells can have their place on the modern battlefield to terminate enemy shipping, even the oldest and weakest missiles common on board ships can easily outrange, and outperform shells in every aspect, even warhead size. In order to preserve the integrity of the ship and keep the valuable 'center' line free for 'bolted on' 140mm Autocannons and defensive measures, the Mishkin features all its missiles in a 'Pod' along the sides of the ship. It has a thin outer armor consisting of a 75mm carbon decapping layer, and 325mm of steel facing a 50mm gap, plus a final thin layer of just 150mm of steel. However, on the other side of the pod, there is another 100mm decapping layer followed by 500mm of steel, a 100mm empty chamber and 300mm of inclined steel. Behind this is the superstructure of the ship, which contains aluminum supporting rods to maintain structural integrity. This means while each individual pod can shrug off minor hits, a truly disabling hit, will puncture the pod, detonate its missiles, but, will not penetrate the pod, keeping the center safe, and ensuring the survival of the ship. A thick 400mm wall of steel between each pod makes each pod as a blowout panel, blowing outward and through the deck.

Each pod is 5 missiles wide and 10 missiles deep, double stacked with Sledgehammer II missiles. This means the Mishkin has 1,200 ready to fire Sledgehammer II missiles and 1,200 in reserve. Along the center of the ship, there are Octuple S-300FM Flot-M antiair missiles. Their octuple pods are single stacked, and lined up in a line, with 20mm Phalanx CIWS and RIM-116 RAM launchers interspersed.

With minor adjustments to each launcher a variety of various missiles can be fitted. The system is designed to be modular and can easily have whole systems replaced.

Sensor Suite and Electronics Suite

The ship uses a phased Doppler RADAR that is linked to a Linux based computer core. This core not only provides the ship with a shipwide LAN and is integrated with the automatic countermeasures suite but uses adaptive waveforms to allow the multiple RADARs mounted on the Mishkin to perform any tasks and modulate itself in case of jamming.

In addition it has a vast sonar array and can tow up to 3 SONAR decoys and is capable of dropping SONAR buoys from its rear hangers.

Charlie class Destroyer (Domestic)

Given a remarkably short production run by the Leafanistani Government after it became clear its massive 8" main gun, and arm loading missiles were obsolete. Turpin class Police Assault Tank (Domestic)

With the increasing number of terrorists, dangerous criminals, and the occasional RPG toting supervillian, it has become necessary for SWAT teams to employ extremely heavy weapons such as assault rifles, rapid fire submachine guns, armed jeeps, armored personnel carries, and now, a tank.

M403 Earthcracker Self Propelled Multiple Artillery Gun

Also a special feature, not on any other D4 vessel at the moment is an integrated A.I. system, where the A.I. handles most basic and advanced technical parts of the vessel, including the process of locating, processing, acquiring and firing at enemy targets. The A.I. has a unique and individual personality, including a face and voice. It will assist in locating problems on the vessel like fire, leaks and mechanical failures, and the best course of action to solve the situation. There are many firewalls on board the ship computers and mainframe to avoid a hack. .40 DDI SinRay Compact Tactical Pistol

Created by SinRay Dynamics and smuggled through a colonial possession to fill a contract from Aurum Domus for a custom pistol based on the USP Compact for his new caliber. It is a light, yet powerful pistol that is preferred by some military users over the Mark 23 due to its small size.

The Chimera is a 3 stage, quasiballistic, hypersonic, antishipping missile. The final stage is another solid fuel motor that accelerates the Chimera at 100g to Mach 10 for the final blow to the enemy ship.

Warheads

The Chimera is available with 3 different payloads. The most common payload is a High Explosive (HE) payload, using a toroidal shaped C12 charge with a depleted uranium tip to first penetrate the ship's armor.

Phase II is an emergency upgrade program initiated after live testing. It is a field upgrade that involves switching out the outdated first stage gryoscopes, with a simple GPS radio, and a Quartz Rate Sensor for a new Inertial Guidance System that reduces CEP in an aerial corridor above the target ship to a mere 75m. It also improves fuel efficiency allowing for a two-fold increase in range. A new shell built by the Griffencrest Corporation is a special dielectric shell made of a stealth coating. Finally a new grip will be built directly into the missile to allow bombers to carry them much like cruise missiles, but because of their Quasiballistic nature, the Chimera Phase II must be fired like an ASAT missile, the plane pointing straight up, releasing the missile, then rolling backwards to avoid the exhaust plume.

Finally as a last resort measure, is a small, low-yield, enhanced radiation W66 warhead (NU), that sets off a subkiloton nuclear munition and creates an intense neutron flux, disabling electronics, inducing transmutation in the ship's superstructure, and finally killing all organic life through a powerful radiation burst.

Delivery Methods

The Chimera can either be delivered in a 'prewrapped' VLS tube, via an arm loader, a ground based silo, with another booster rocket from a mobile launcher, or attached to a heavy bomber and fired like an ASAT missile.

Designed by immigrant Pakistani scientists in Mikoyan as a modern upgrade to the canceled Soviet-era MiG-105 Spiral, the MiG-107 Spectrum is a major contender versus other expensive and hard to operate space to space combat fighters. Instead of being built in space, or using horrifically expensive fusion torches it combines known and readily available technologies to produce an effective spaceplane.

Airframe

The MiG-107 Spectrum is constructed mostly of high quality tungsten, colombium, and molybdenum alloys to allow it to resist the massive heat of multiple Earth Reentries and the heat from the boosters that bring it into space. Instead of using expensive and wasteful ceramic plates, the MiG-107 uses 'scale plate armor' which is a series of metal panels hung by ceramic bearings that would expand from the heat upon entry into the atmosphere and resist burning up.

During launch and reentry, the wings of the MiG-107 are folded against the sides of the vehicle at a 60-degree angle, acting as vertical stabilizers. After dropping to subsonic speeds post-reenty, the pilot will activate a set of electric actuators which lowered the wings into the horizontal position, giving the MiG-107 better flight characteristics for its landing.

The landing skids, are mounted for safety reasons on the side of the airframe and come out and come under the aircraft. This is to not compromise the integrity of the bottom heatshield and can result in hard landings for untrained pilots flying 'deadstick' meaning no propulsion. The MiG-107 is also capable of landing in water.

Propulsion

The MiG-107 is lifted aboard the relatively cheap Zenit-2M Fregat expendable Rocket Booster into Low Earth Orbit, when it detaches and fires its expendable RATO rocket, which continues its boost all the way up to Medium Earth Orbit. Both these expendable rockets will eventually drift back into the atmosphere and burn up.

From here the MiG-107 Spectrum can be flown under its own power for up to 25 orbits of the earth. The pilot must wear a full spacesuit as to save weight the MiG-107 cannot support breathable atmosphere and was only designed to return the pilot safely to earth. Its Klimov XD-23 3D Thrust Vectoring engines give it great maneuverability in space. For greater maneuverability during space combat, the MiG-107 has two onboard bottles of hydrazine monopropellant with 3 nozzles to execute rapid turns.

Hydrazine monopropellant engines function when the hydrazine is passed by a catalyst such as iridium metal supported by high-surface-area alumina which causes it to decompose into ammonia, nitrogen gas, and hydrogen gas. This powerful exothermic reaction produces a lot of hot ammonia gas for a relatively small bottle of liquid hydrazine and is very common on all space craft.

Sensor and Avionics Suite

The MiG-107 has a modern helmet mounted HUD and a glass cockpit, featuring 4 LCD screens that display all relevant flight data including an innovative 3D RADAR display that shows targets relative to the MiG-107's current position.

It mounts a coherent pulse-Doppler N-010 Zhuk-X look-around/shoot-around coherent pulse-Doppler radar and a Ts100.02-02 digital computer., which has a planar array antenna rather than a dish, improving range, and a much superior processing ability compared to other phased array radars.

It also uses a Y-M3 micropulse LADAR and uses a series of mirrors to deflect it to gain a full 3D display of detected targets.

The MiG-107 also features the S-31E2 KOLS, a combined laser rangefinder and IRST in an 'eyeball' mount forward of the cockpit canopy. This can be slaved to the radar or used independently, and provides exceptional accuracy.

Armament

Due to the need to reduce weight on the MiG-107, carry a useful payload and allow the MiG-107 to reenter the atmosphere the weapon's bay is hidden in the middle of the craft between the two fuel tanks and rocket boosters. It is a 4 round rotary launcher, which clamps onto each missile.

When the weapon is locked on and fired, the missile bay on the top opens up and the arm flicks out of the aircraft releases the missile, lights its pulsed rocket booster, and reenters the missile bay, the doors close, and the rotary launcher turns. All of this happens in a fraction of a second, resulting in a disconcerting 'popping' effect for observers unused to this system.

The armament is a specially designed Vympel RX-100 'Asp' Space to Space Missile, SpSpM, that is programmed specifically to use the gravity of earth as part of its maneuvering capability. It uses a pulsed 3D thrust vectoring rocket motor, and a single bottle of hydrazine monopropellent exiting to 6 ports along a single axis spaced equidistantly along the side of the Asp.

MX70 'Spiral' Guided Space to Space Rocket

Developed by General Resources Conglomerate as the cheap weapon that fits in the launch rack of the MiG-107 'Spectrum' Starfighter, these are simple 70mm Infrared Guided Rockets with a uncomplex laser proximity fuse that causes the 10 kg warhead to detonate within a few meters of the enemy spacecraft.

The long rocket is guided inertially going straight forward using its 3D thrust vectoring motor, until it detects a significant heat source that isn't the Sun, Earth or the Moon, and homes in on it.

They fit into a 5 round pod that attaches to the arm of the the rotary launcher of the MiG-107 and can be fired individually or all at once in a massive salvo.

Gravimetric Sensor System

Developed as a way to counter newer 'silent' submarines using waterjets, and hiding in thermoclines or saline pools, the Gravimetric sensor system relies satellites, buoys and mobile gravimetric sensors all integrated into a series of large supercomputer clusters that can create a real time map of a series of grids and their local gravimetric anomolies.

This way the thing that gives away the submarine is its mass, which is completely impossible to disguise without some major developments in antigravity systems or mass reduction.

The first line of defense are a series of satellites, each one designed like a plane, to balance themselves against the thin wisps of air still present in the upper atmosphere.

Audacious class Guided Missile Hovercorvette

Abstract

Not the advanced repulsorlift craft its name implies, the Audacious class is a sidewall hovercraft, so not a true hovercraft. It is unusual as it is a pure combat ship, designed for drug interdiction operations against fast boats, rapid hit and run attacks on large combat groups, and as a rapid responder to any coastal incidents.

Design

Made of an advanced titanium, aluminum alloy, the Audacious is light in the right places and heavy in the others. Aluminum hexagons provide powerful support for the craft, allowing it to take multiple penetrations from heavy autocannons and still maintain its superstructure.

Its waterjet and hovercraft based design allow it operate in very shallow waters. Its highly stable design also allows rough weather operation making it very useful for special forces insertions that also demand heavy firepower. Designers have incorporated this feature into the Audacious class by installing a ladder on each side of the sidehull, with a total of 2 ladders, going straight to a door in the superstructure that leads to the ship's armory, which comes prestocked with weapons.

Weapons Systems

Being a multirole craft, the Audacious had to juggle the ability to take down massive battleships with the ability to intercept a modified drug running speedboat. The result is a versatile and capable craft with a variety of weapons.

Its main gun is a dual Rhienmetall RMK30. The Rheinmetall RMK30 is a revolutionary new recoilless 30mm revolver autocannon that was designed for the Tiger helicopter, as a way of providing powerful 30mm cannon fire without the heavy recoil associated with typical autocannons. The result is a light and efficient heavy gun that can be deployed on nearly any platform, and finds its niche as a dual cannon on an open turret on the Audacious class.

Its big stick however for fighting larger ship is mounted in the rear, and consists of a 3 by 2 box launcher containing 6 BrahMos supersonic antishipping cruise missiles, with a powerful 200 kilogram shaped charge and can effectively check a much larger fleet.

Besides the dual turret on the front, each side also has 3 mounted 14.5mm machine guns, designed for intercepting small boats and killing saboteur divers. Combined with a prestocked armory holding lots of AR-550 assault rifles, and their underbarrel grenade launchers, the Audacious class is well protected against both boarding and sabotage.

As for air defense, the Audacious class allies a coherent pulse Doppler RADAR, with two Phalanx 20mm CIWS guns and a single RIM-116 RAM launcher that can effectively neutralize everything from low flying jump jets to cruise missiles.

Finally two Hedgehog contact mortars, provide a good littoral submarine counter, and can launch up to 16 explosive charges at the submarines, and the best part is, as they are contact mortars, they don't detonate and cloud your SONAR unless they make contact with either the submarine or the ocean floor.

Sensor Suite

The Audacious class brings the newest systems currently in service in Leafanistan including the Monolith-E coherent pulse Doppler RADAR, and a Positive-MEK-A air/surface search radar. For submarine detection the Anapa-ME1 SONAR is included. Finally a stripped down version of an evolutionary algorithmically designed mil-spec fire computer, the 5P-10E Fire Control Radar and NI-SK Niche-4 Fire Computer, allows the Audacious class to track multiple targets simultaneously and engage them with a variety of weapons.

Countermeasures

The two Phalanx 20mm CIWS guns and a RIM-116 RAM 18-cell missile launcher offers powerful point defense, fast moving autocannon shells, and missiles that slip by will have to be dealt with with extreme prejudice.

That is where the VICTORY Naval Active/Passive Protection Suite takes over. Combining the YANKEE Softkill system, and the HEROIC Active Protection system, the VICTORY can either disrupt, confuse, destroy or deflect over 85% of all incoming missiles, including supersonic ones and GPS guided munitions.

Upon detection of an incoming projectile, the VICTORY sounds a loud alarm, warning all units to take cover and return to the inside of the ship, as the active protection system may result in collateral damage. One, or the other, or even both systems then activate to attack the incoming projectile.

The YANKEE softkill system relies on a keen understanding of modern guidance systems, from wireguided to SACLOS by disrupting the two most common types of guidance systems. LASER and Radio. The YANKEE comes with two, multispectral strobe lights, designed to replicate the guidance frequencies of the most common SACLOS guidance systems, and beam a combination of visible, ultraviolet and infrared light to confuse enemy missiles and disrupt its communication with its parent device, filling its seeker head with too much 'noise' to target the ship. For Radio guided devices, the YANKEE is equipped with both a RADAR jammer and a modulator. The Jammer is linked to the integrated fire control suite and looks for hard RADAR 'spikes' sudden increases in certain frequencies and immediately begins broadcasting it to jam the enemy missile. An accompanying modulator shifts the signal to other frequencies to keep jamming if the frequency shifts.

If the target continues tracking the ship, then the YANKEE deploys a series of reloadable smoke mortars that can dispense an aerosol capable of obscuring the Audacious in visible and infrared spectrums.

The HEROIC Active Protection System then can take precedence, with a series of shotgun-like pellet shots dispensed from stations located around the superstructure to physically destroy the incoming missile. It also includes a longer range version that sends out a grenade that detonates within seconds showering the target in pellets. It has a high probability of injuring people on deck so the alarm warns Naval infantry to retreat.

Propulsion System

The main defense of the Audacious class is actually its enormous speed. During extreme 'sprints' in calm waters the Audacious can easily reach well over 60 knots and maxes out at 65 knots, making this heavily armed ship seemingly fly.

The Audacious uses a COTAP or a combined turbine and piston propulsion system to drive two Sungri waterjets. The twin AC-1450MT type gas turbine engines rated at 45,000 horsepower with a twin PP511K reduction-gear diesel engines rated at 25,000 horsepower, both bound to the waterjets.

To inflate the skirts there are twin M52OM3 auxiliary diesel engines driving superchargers rated at 6,800 horsepower. Electrical power is provided by four 200 kilowatt diesel-driven generators.

M12 'Venom' Anti-Kraven Pistol

Abstract

Observing the difficultly even close-range ambush fighters had in killing Kraven Capitol Police in Chechnya with even large 7.62x39mm rounds. A new solution had to be devised to eliminate the scourge of the Capitol Police and similar forces for the safety of all peoples. As part of the PROJECT VICEROY specifications the M12 'Venom' is designed for the express purpose of eliminating heavily armored augmented troopers like the Kraven Capitol Police. It is also capable of antimateriel work and can be used against lightly armored vehicles.

Descrpition

The M12 'Venom' is a fusion of two different weapons. The top is the Kinetic Energy portion of the weapon and is a selective fire pistol capable of 2 round bursts, especially useful against heavily armored soldiers like Capitol Police. The round selected for the export version was the 5.7mm SS190, the same round in the FN P90, for its armor penetration capabilities. However, the M12 'Venom' is also available in a variety of calibers, for the internationality of the weapon.

But what makes this weapon unique is mounted beneath the Kinetic Energy portion of the 'Venom'; a smaller barrel, designed for the 15mm Quasi-Gyrojet round. The actual sting of the M12 'Venom', is the 15mm single shot Quasi-Gyrojet, pioneered by Pale Rider Arms.

The Quasi-Gyrojet is a modification of current Gyrojets in production under the classification of PROJECT DEATHWIND and uses a primer to provide a small 'kick' to the Gyrojet and send it flying out of the barrel at a high initial velocity, and simultaneously light the rocket engine and send the 15mm round up to 100m downrange.

When it reaches its target, its contact sensitive charge will set off a toridol shaped high explosive charge, which will create a jet of superheated metal, consisting of the Capitol Police's own Iridian Alloy armor, and of a thin tin layer, moving at hypersonic speeds that will slice through Capitol Police armor, and kill the Trooper behind it.

Construction

The M12 'Venom' is a modern pistol, and uses a short recoil operated, locked breech system with vertically cammed lock. Because of its 2 round burst capabilities, it is a selective fire weapon that allows for semiautomatic, burst and gyrojet.

It is mostly made of polymer with a false wood grip in civilian models and a black plastic in military and police issue.

R8 'Fang' AntiKraven Disposable Rocket Launcher

Abstract

The R8 'Fang' also called the 'Kravenfaust' was designed as a cheap disposable weapon that would instantly kill a Capitol Police trooper, be simple so anyone could use it, yet was light enough to carry more than one. The R8 'Fang' is the outcome of one of the many projects under the MoW's PROJECT VICEROY.

Description

The R8 'Fang' is technically a recoilless rifle and not a rocket launcher. It consists of a low-grade aluminum-steel alloy tube that is 4.3cm wide and has a simple slide sight, an electrical trigger, and weighs only 2.21kg. It is held under the crook of the arm, and the range is set on the sight by moving a slide up and down from several preset ranges (10, 25, 40, 55, 75). By depressing the trigger, it ignites 150g of black powder propellant, producing a minimal backblast and sending the R8 'Fang's 37mm Warhead up to 80m downrange.

The 37mm round is derived from Leafanistani Naval Artillery designs, and contains half a kilogram of a high explosive shaped charge designed to detonate on impact with a Capitol Police trooper. The charge will produce a hypersonic superheated jet of metal that will slice through a trooper and leave him with a giant bloody crater in his chest.

Due to the conflicting directives of low cost, low weight, disposability, and easy operation resulted in a range of only 80m. However, as it was designed with a Kraven incursion into an urban battlefield, the issue of range was not a major concern, and actually exceeded PROJECT VICEROY's requirement of 50m range.

With an arsenal of up to 84 Beyond Visual Range Missiles (optimized for the Vympel R-77M1), and 4 Short Range Air to Air Missile (optimized for the Molniya R-60), the F-137 'Maginot' earned the nickname 'Maginot's Monitor', a double reference to the Maginot Line and coastal assault ships meant to bombard enemy coastlines.

The only way to fit such a massive amount of missiles inside a plane are 7 rotary launchers that fits 12 BVRAAMs each. Upon order to fire, the bottom of the plane pops upon for a split second, the arm extends out, the motor starts up, the arm releases the missile, the missile flies away and the arm retracts back inside the plane. Due to firing conflicts, only one launcher can be active at a time. An 8th smaller launcher is a linear launcher containing 4 SRAAMs for point defense in case the F-137 is caught off guard or its escort aircraft have been destroyed or engaged. An additional 4 hardpoints, 2 on each wing have ports to accept fuel tanks, but can also be fitted with other armaments for a total of 400 kg of external stores.

Meant to form part of an 'impenetrable line', the F-137 'Maginot' has room for 10 crew, a pilot, a co-pilot, a navigator, an electronic warfare officer, and a gunner. There are 5 beds and enough stores for 72 hours of continuous flight for 10 people. The other 5 people are a backup crew to allow for a solid 3 days of flight time with aerial refueling. The F-137 'Maginot' has an aerial refueling probe to allow for aerial refueling.

Sukhoi Su-87 Quiet Stealth Fighter Bomber

Abstract

Despite advances in stealth technology, including heat dissipating engines, reflective and absorptive surfaces, and powerful electronic warfare kits, the stealth fighter-bomber is still vulnerable to two things. The Mark One eyeball, standard issue in pairs to soldiers, and the Mark One Ear SONAR system, also issued in pairs to soldiers. The Mark One eyeball is easy to defeat at supersonic velocities with sufficient camouflage, but the Mark One Ear is difficult. The Ear can hear the powerful sonic boom a supersonic aircraft can make.

Stealth Systems

Sonic booms are created when pressure waves created by the supersonic aircraft collide with each other faster than they can dissipate, producing a loud crack. Using fine tuned aerodynamics to control the pressure wave formation, the Su-87 generates far smaller shockwaves, resulting in a very quiet supersonic flight.

The key to it's silent flight is its broad distribution of lift-generating surfaces, such as the canards - the small wings near the front of the fuselage - and swept-V tail provide substantial lift, preventing the sharp, loud-boom-generating pressure change typical of larger, wider wings.

Project lead Professor Sokolov said that "It is no louder than a kite overhead."

Indeed the Su-87 shocked the generals reviewing the aircraft when it very quietly rose into the sky and broke the sound barrier. This ability means stealth aircraft no longer have to stay below the sound barrier to remain truly stealthy.

To help improve its stealth characteristics the Su-87 is also loaded with the latest stealth technology. Just below the skin are re-enterant triangles. Powerful RADAR waves that penetrate the RAM - Radar Absorbing Material - composite that makes up the body of the aircraft will become caught in these triangles and the waves will lose energy bouncing back and forth. The cockpit itself is coated with a conductive coating that bounces RADAR waves away from the transmitter.

To improve IR stealth the Su-87 has a slit based thrust vectoring engine to control the thrust and cool the thermal exhaust. The exhaust is also mixed with cool air and is cooled to the temperatures where the brightest wavelengths it radiates on are absorbed by atmospheric carbon dioxide and water vapor, dramatically reducing the infrared visibility of the exhaust plume.

Weapons Hardpoints

Finally hardpoints are all internal, with 4 internal hardpoints in two bomb bays. Usual configurations are two air to air missiles and two 500 kilogram bombs, four air to air missiles, or two air to air missiles and two three round clusters of 100 kilogram bombs.

A stealth "pod" can be installed next to the engines to provide the ability to hold an additional two internal hardpoints on the Su-87. These pods can only hold one missile or bomb (cluster) and after use, since they is one on each wing, are released simultaneously. Wingtip rail electronics are still in place for export users who can install wingtip rails for short range air to air missiles.

The stealth pod cannot be released for export but there is a kit to install a combination external hardpoint and conformal shaped bomb that does increase sound signature and RADAR signature but does not negatively impact aerodynamics and still remains stealthier than non stealth aircraft.

Avionics

The cockpit is a Kreigzimmer inspired design with a full glass cockpit, a helmet mounted HUD, a Direct to Voice system all shielded in a Faraday cage. The Su-87 is extremely user friendly and its fully integrated systems means the pilot can select his target, select his weapon and fire his weapon in as few maneuvers as possible. The pilot flies the aircraft by means of a right-hand side-stick and left-hand throttles.

Export versions lack the Direct to Voice system and more advanced avionics that are yet classified.

Sensor Suite

The Sensor Suite is a domestically built, electromagnetically shielded N108 Active/Passive Phased Array RADAR with a 400 kilometer range and the capability to track up to 64 targets and lock onto 16 of them. An electro-optical targeting system for the bomber role is also included.

The countermeasure suite is the standard WolfPack VIII now being retrofitted to Leafanistani fighters. The WolfPack VIII uses a low-energy infrared LASER combined with the N108 A/PPAR to detect incoming missiles and begin lasing. The heat seeking missile will find its seeker head lit up and will destroy the missile.

A frequency hopping RADAR jammer and decoy system is standard. (3 chaff, 3 flares)

Sirkorsky S-100 Dual Hawk Medium Utility Helicopter Domestic

Abstract

The venerable UH-60 and Mi-8 in Leafanistani service were reaching the end of their service life, and a suitable replacement had to be found. Despite the project requirements being minimal, Sirkorsky surprised the competing General Resources and Mil Helicopter Plant designs with an S-70 inspired design with a more complex coaxial rotor design that radically altered performance with the electronics suite that the Air Force demanded. The contract obviously went to Sirkorsky.

Airframe

While the coaxial rotors are more complex and heavier the loss of the tail rotor for an exhaust control surface means that the S-100 is not that much heavier than the S-70 and can actually lift more. The wasted energy going to power the tail to keep the helicopter stable now goes solely to lift and thrust. This results in a slightly higher cargo capacity.

The advantages to a coaxial rotor does not end there. The S-100 is also more stable and its tail rotored counterpart, with the angular momentum of the first rotor canceled out by the top rotor, making the S-100 more user friendly and more maneuverability.

The dissymmetry of lift problem, where in single rotor helicopters would emerge as the blades approached transonic or supersonic speeds and the rest of the blades would be in subsonic speed and the resulting air compression would fail to produce lift, causing a catastrophic failure. Indeed the second rotor cancels out the phenomenon completely, but despite this the S-100 still has a never exceed speed as the upper limit for the dissymmetry of lift has merely been raised.

Finally the dual rotor has a reduced noise profile, with the normal 'chop chop' of a 'chopper' results from the interaction between the air coming out of the tail rotor with the air coming from the main rotor now a moot point.

Avionics

Aside from the obvious stealth improvements obtained by the coaxial design, the S-100 comes with an integrated glass cockpit, an optional inflight refueling probe, a durability computer that calculates the 'health' of the helicopter and reports damage to the airframe, and finally a countermeasures suite installed standard.

Upon detection of an incoming rocket or missile a set of 4 chaff and flare launchers in the rear fire. Two triple smoke grenade sets also serve to obscure the helicopter from view and are thermal transparent to allow crew with thermal systems to return fire.

Armament

The S-100 is usually equipped with two CIS 50MG, .50 caliber machine guns, but is also seen with the AF-15 'Pivot' firing the 6mm Caseless from 200 round Beta-C magazines, AGS-30 30mm Grenade Launcher, Shipunov GShG-600 6mm caseless minigun, or a combination thereof. For export it is equipped with two PKM 7.62mm machine guns.

The S-100 is designed to be compatible with any weapons system deployed on the UH-60 currently in Leafanistani service and can accept rocket pods, machine gun pods, forward firing cannons and even antitank missiles.

'Horse-fly' DIY Wooden Bomber

History

Born of desperation and the raid of an aircraft museum, the 'Horse-fly' was created by Ye Waiting in his workshop in a refugee camp. When the first squadron of these took off during brutal government suppression of the Shujunese Ultra-Nationalist Uprising, the woefully unprepared government forces were decimated by modified RPG-7 rocket pods destroying their armored personnel carriers. All 4 planes in the squadron later crash landed in a field 60 km away and were promptly rescued by sympathetic forces.

The Northern Baltic quickly responded with Tunguska antiaircraft guns at every raid, wasting resources, lowering morale, and risking trained troops and expensive equipment each time. Despite increased protection, suicide squadrons of 'Horse-flies' as they were later called by terrified troops raided rear area encampments, towns, and even a sports game in a dramatic National Day attack.

Airframe

The 'Horse-Fly' is a weapon of desperation and that is the mother of all invention. It's simple metal or PVC pipe construction with a plywood exterior, old car fuel tanks for fuel tanks, and two reverse engineered Argus As 014 pulse jets provide the motive power for the 'Horse-fly'. Due to the relatively simple pulse jets providing power, the 'Horse-fly' runs on simple gasoline fuel obtainable at any gas pump.

To take off a salvaged artillery rocket is used to provide enough power for the pulse jets to keep the plane in the air.

The cockpit is very simple and ejection is accomplished by firing explosive bolts salvaged from artillery rockets and the seat falls down allowing the pilot to pull his parachute provided he detaches himself from the seat.

The landing gear is non retractable and is of tricycle configuration made of old scooter parts. Most landings have destroyed the landing gear but the aircraft is usually meant as one use.

The wing is a conventional straight wing with a single hardpoint on each wing and one centerline hardpoint.

Due to its small size the most common pilots were women and children.

Avionics

While the rest of the aircraft is made of relatively simple materials there are two types of cockpits in existence. One was the first one built by Bruchnyehk and is called the Mark I, it contains a nautical compass, a simple pressure based altimeter, an external weather vane to measure air speed, and a civilian GPS receiver. Bomb control was done manually via a pulled lever.

The second type of cockpit was made by Xiaoxiao -an alias- a computer hacker with Shujunese sympathies. It is a simple custom GUI running on Linux that uses surplus GPS modules from old car navigation systems to integrate and remove the compass, altimeter and external GPS receiver. This also makes bombing runs more accurate as the program cues the person to pull the lever to either drop bombs or to fire rockets. The external windvane for windspeed still exists.

Occasionally civilian nightvision kits for hunting are worn by pilots for nighttime missions.

Weapons

The plywood and metal/PVC pipe construction of the 'Horse-fly' means its remarkable bombload is a miracle. Waiting designed the 'Horse-fly' to carry a single 100kg bomb originally, but experimentation showed each wing can hold a M260 lightweight rocket launcher for the Hydra 70 (~100kg) and the entire aircraft can have a total of 400kg of external stores.

A single RPK-74 with a modified 700mm barrel sits to the pilot's right. It has a limited up and down sweep motion and is mounted upside down with the magazine pointing straight into the air. The 45 round magazine is ill suited to long term strafing but it provides a useful defense against ground based machine gunners. An extra 3 30 round magazines are provided for the pilot along with an AKS-74U for when he lands to defend himself.

Robert A. Heinlein class Destroyer

History and Abstract

The General Resources Conglomerate unveiled after 8 years of much lauded protracted development their entry into the Future Surface Combatant Program. The radical design and improvements over the other destroyers competing in the FSC Program meant the GRC design rapidly gained a production contract and the first units are entering service in the Saharistani Autonomous Colonial Navy which preordered several dozen of these ships, through backdoor dealings that are currently under investigation by the Autonomous Colonial Authority.

Description

The Robert A. Heinlein class Destroyer is a leap from previous monohull designs to the proven Trimaran hull used in so many other nation's ships. The 172m ship requires only 15 officers and 85 crew to operate thanks to increased automation.

The trimaran hull combined with azimuth thrusters and the two large gas turbines, diesel generators and diesel engines means the Heinlein can sustain speeds up past 47 knots, flanking the previous Delta class and Illium class destroyers in a flash, along with the competing Sung Heavy Industrial Concern's Epoch class Destroyer. The ship has an astounding range of 18,000 km.

The ship also heavily incorporates stealth elements in its designs and all aspects of the ship are shaped to help reduce RADAR cross-section. Despite its comparable size with the Illium and Delta class destroyers, its RADAR return is more similar to that of a fishing boat. Its advanced waterjets also reduce its SONAR signature to that similar to the Los Angeles class submarine currently in service with the Colonial Navies. Composite materials absorb RADAR waves, and a passive cooling system moving air along the mack helps reduce its thermal signature. The ship is designed to serve in all roles equally well, and demonstrates this with its varied armament.

Armament

The main gun of the Robert A. Heinlein class Destroyer is the 155mm Future Gun System, inspired by Kreigzimmer large guns currently on the Illium class Destroyer. The high speed autoloading gun can fire up to 10 rounds per minute through a liquid cooled barrel, and with Electrothermal Chemical firing capability the 155mm FGS can fire a GPS/INS guided Long Range Land Attack Projectile over 120km to hit ground targets with a CEP of 50 m or less. As part of the entire ship's overall stealthiness the Heinlein class can hide the turret of its gun into a special mounting to reduce RADAR signatures.

In front of the 155mm FGS is the Bofors Mk. 110 57 mm/70 gun which can fire salvos at up to 220 rounds per minute, and has a range of nine miles and with six programmable fuses supplements the CIWS system of 4 Phalanx and 2 RIM-116 launchers.

The ship also has a 32 cell VLS system designed primarily for the Sledgehammer II antishipping missile as its primary antishipping weapon. The VLS system is also prepared for the AS-57 "Kant" upcoming supersonic land attack cruise missile. Each cell is divided into a subcell of 8 cells, each one is shielded from each other so the loss of one does not sacrifice the entire ship. Extensive fire suppression systems including HALON systems help increase the survivability of the ship.

4 cells of VLS systems designed for the Praetorian II are located on each side of the ship, each one is built to be thin to the outside world and thick to the ship, allowing the destruction of each cell to not destroy the ship.

In between the 3 hulls, there are two batteries of multirole mine or torpedo launchers. Each hold either can drop 14 torpedoes out of 2 rotary launchers or can be rapidly swapped out for a mining module, each one supporting 30 antidreadnought mines designed to lay low and break the keel of a passing large ship.

The strangest offensive armament on board the Heinlein are the 2 CLM-01 Common LASER modules as part of the VICTORY II Defensive Suite. Under manual override, they can locate and detect enemy LASER rangefinders, the RADAR returns of enemy bridges, and even cockpits of enemy jets and fire a powerful coherent laser beam up to 50km to temporarily blind and in closer ranges permanently blind enemy soldiers. To protect against a similar attack, a series of solid state sensors over the bridge will automatically slide composite armored blast shields in front of the bridge and other plastic viewports being targeted.

Defensive Suite

Finally to complement the extensive defensive and offensive systems the Heinlein class provides, the VICTORY II Ship OminProtection Suite has been integrated with the CIWS system. Upon detection of an incoming torpedo, the VICTORY II expends up to 24 expendable SONAR decoys which replicate the SONAR signature of the Heinlein class all around the ship to distract the torpedo. A towed passive array goes out, along with two towed active decoys to distract the torpedo. The torpedo, confronted with a multiplicity of SONAR signatures, all suspiciously Heinlein like and the ship speeding up to its full flank speed and maneuvering greatly reduces chance of impact.

If an enemy shell or missile is detected the VICTORY II sounds an alarm and activates the Yankee II softkill system first. Using two infrared LASERs mounted on top of the ship, the Yankee II attempts to flood the enemy seeker head with a large thermal signature to convince it it has reached its target and to detonate. CLM-01 modules also mounted on top of the ship begin a multispectral dazzle of LASER beams to try to confuse the enemy LADAR systems. A heavy RADAR jammer will link with the RADAR on board the Heinlein and attempt to jam the enemy's radio guidance package by sensing its returns and predicting its frequency modulating. If the Yankee II does not get a softkill soon enough the Yankee II automatically deploys 60mm smoke mortars and obscures the ship in a cloud of smoke and speeds up to flank speed to try to dodge the missile at the last second.

It is during these last desperate moments the Heroic II is activated and sounds a second 'Imminent' alarm and puts down the blast doors and shields around the ship. Watertight bulkheads are sealed at this point and the ship braces for impact. The Heroic II will attempt to use its hard kill systems to destroy the oncoming projectile.

In case the VICTORY II fails to prevent the enemy missile from impacting, automated fire suppression systems, and intelligent bulkhead management software will try to move around fire control teams and minimize damage.

Aviation Wing

The Heinlein class destroyer has a rather large rear deck, capable of supporting a GLI-76 Jump Jet or an F-35 along with two MQ-8 Fire Scouts, but more commonly has two S-100 Naval Dualhawks to act as an antisubmarine picket and 1 MQ-8 Fire Scout to act as a recon drone.

Sensor Suite

The Heinlein class mounts a Monolith-K dual band common-phased conformal array on the deckhouse with S-band and X-band frequency systems and each band is processed separately and integrated into a coherent image of the battlefield. A powerful SONAR system along with the increased automation aboard the Heinlein class will control the system and help find enemy submarines and mines.

Automation

The Heinlein class is the first ship to support the heavy automation of all its systems via the TORQUE class N.I. An N.I. (Niche Intelligence) is an evolutionary genetic algorithm derived program that is designed specifically for various different types of fleet combat and the scenarios that the Heinlein will come under. It manages all the offensive and defensive systems on board the ship and helps direct and maintain them. It is also in charge of the Advanced Cargo Bay, which is designed to take in regular sized shipping containers autonomously and assist in the unloading and stowage of supplies, greatly reducing crew requirements. Along with the newest automated ship reloading mechanisms coming into service on new tender ships the Heinlein can be resupplied at sea and kept constantly at sea.

History and Abstract

Sung Heavy Industrial Concern's Military Projects Division's entry into the Burtilanian Navy's competition for a small fleet carrier. To meet the MPD's foreign requirements the catamaran design was chosen along with a CONAS system. The resulting ship could do a 35 knot sprint and impressed some personnel in the Glorious Republican Navy. Two have been acquired for trials.

Description

The Burly class is a Catamaran Small Fleet Carrier that contains a nuclear engine and a steam boost turbine in each hull to help drive the ship to its maximum sprint of 35 knots. For its construction and to help maintain this large speed, it is mostly made out of aluminum, despite flammability concerns in a hexagonal matrix throughout the ship, resulting in the hexagon bulkheads, a design feature carried over from the shipping containers Sung Heavy Industrial Concern is more noted for.

To compensate for the potential of the hull catching fire, a ship wide fire suppression system has been included with large fire extinguishers at every door and wide passage, a massive sea water intake valve for the sprinkler system, and self-sealing doors in case of fire.

Armament

The primary armament of any aircraft carrier is its aircraft and the Burly is no different. With no large guns of its own the Burly class has instead 4 Phalanx CIWS guns, 2 on each hull, 2 Bofors 57mm Mark 3 Automatic CIWS guns with programmable ammunition and a fire rate of 220 rpm, perfect for shredding incoming large missiles, aircraft, helicopters and even small boats. Finally to complete the CIWS armament are two RIM-116 RAM antimissile missile launchers, one on each side of the bridge.

Aviation Wing

The Burly class was designed from the start to carry 20 fixed wing aircraft to launch off an angled deck (the Su-33), 20 VTOL aircraft (the Yak-141 Freestyle) and 10 helicopters (the Ka-27).

The starboard hull is designed to handle mostly VTOL operations and contains the tall main deckhouse. It has one short steam catapult to launch VTOL aircraft off an angled deck.

On the port hull there is a smaller deckhouse to help coordinate that hull's aircraft and has the main catapult on the Burly class. This is where the fixed wing aircraft are stored and launched. This hull also has an angled deck.

Helicopters are split between the hulls equally.

Sensor Suite

The ship has a D/E band air and surface target acquisition RADAR, an F band surface search RADAR, G/H band flight control RADAR, I band navigation RADAR, and four K band fire control RADAR for the CIWS guns.

For SONAR the ship mounts a hull-mounted search and attack SONAR, operating in the medium- and low-frequency bands, is capable of detecting torpedoes and submarines. The ship holds at the rear a large complement of 60mm mortars to launch SONAR decoys and holds some 30 such expendable decoys on each hull.

For safety the ship has a towed array on the port hull to distract enemy torpedoes.

However the primary sensor suite of the ship will be its AWACS aircraft and helicopters. Anti-submarine warfare aircraft are equipped with surface search radar, dipping sonar, sonobuoys, and magnetic anomaly detectors.

Balkan class Corvette

Yet another Surface Effect Ship coming out of Leafanistan's naval yards. The ship has a classically Russian layout with two stacked P-270 Moskit launchers on either side of the control station amidships. The gun on the front is a AK-630 30mm CIWS gun, and the main rear facing gun is a 76 mm multipurpose main gun, that can be equally used for land bombardment, antiaircraft (primary role), and antishipping.

Satellite imagery suggests at least two alternate versions tested at an Algeristani Colonial Naval Base firing torpedoes at moored Grisha class corvettes. The second test firing appeared to be a torpedo impact, but the craft that fired them fired two missiles. Both missiles terminated midflight and fell into the sea. Their target then exploded from a torpedo impact and sank. Both ships reached their target speeds of around 55 knots for a sprint and fired from at least 45 knots.
