OOC: This will be the 4th LOTR RP, as the 3rd one, sadly, died out. I encourage any and all to join as one of the multitudinous nations in Middle-Earth. However, there will be several rules:

1.Be nice to each other. No flaming etc.
2. Try to know something about your nation and LOTR before you join. You can find information at http://www.glyphweb.com/arda/default.htm
3. No Godmodding, and quality RPing. Also, keep things moderately realistic.
4. HAVE FUN!!!

Here's a list of realms, in your first post just say who you're going to be and start RPing:

Saurons eye turned once more to the Kingdoms of the West, men and elves lived there defeying him, under there own rule. This must change if he was to defeat the Valar once and for all, if he was to recall his fallen master from the depths of the void. If he was to destroy the sons of Numeor.

The sword still ached even as though it still bit into his thigh. he would have his revenge.

The Dwarves of The Lonely Mountain were working as hard as ever, under the guidance of Thorins cousin Dain of the Iron Hills everything that Smaug had done had been undone, all of the damage was repaired, now they were preparing to make it a proper Kingdom again, delving for iron and metals to build the things they needed to live in peace with the men of Long-Lake.

They finally been united, under a single guise, a single entity of power, and yet they were under a great pressure from their ally to the west, the malicious Sauron to further strengthen his hold upon his armies and greater-wise deploy forces to the west.

Although unaware of the danger it could impose, only one thing rabble through the Tribe Leader Srimm's cunning, powerful mind; the reputation of the lands of Rhun, as under his strength he commanded the unification of all tribes and lesser beings together, and with his strength and leadership, his army, the strong and ruthless Easterlings had forged their ways above the lessers. He intended to forge his army into a disciplined force, and with it, he would create a soldier of his own from their teachings.

I would like to rp the goblins in Moria. I’ve always found them interesting for some reason. Maybe its because they could take control of one of the most beautiful Dwarven cities through sheer numbers.

Just one thing, in relation to “The Lord of the Rings” when does this take place. Considering that The Great Goblin was killed by Gandalf in “The Hobbit” and you listed him.

Harad had always been a fractured land, deserts as far a the eye could see in which Haradrim lived in small community, linked to eachother by a couple of bigger cities such as Azhkahar and Hidar. It was the main reason why Numenor could control Harad in the second age, giving those, who would swear fealty, a portion of land and the power of a king in that land.

With the fall of Numenor, their hold on Harad waned, as did the city of Umbar until king Earnil I resolved to retake the city from his sundered kin, the Black Numenoreans. In those days, the kings of Gondor were mighty at sea as they had been in the second era and soon the city was besieged and taken.
The Black Numenoreans now sought help from those whom they once ruled and while Earnil made the city a haven of Gondor the kings of Harad assembled their army alongside the Lords of Umbar.

Their moment came when a great storm raged through the bay of Belfalas and destroyed the Gondorian fleet and drowned Earnil. The Haradrim moved in and besieged the weakened garrison. Gondor sea power assured that the heirs of Earnil held the city. But at a great cost, Kiryandil, Earnils son died in battle and it took Gondor another 35 years until a great Army from Osgiliath crushed the Harad forces, the Harad kings had to swear allegiance to Gondor while their sons were taken as hostages.

And so the Haradrim resented and hated Gondor in their hearts. But the kings of Harad were broken and there was peace for a long time. After a while however, Sauron began to work his evil deeds again from his fortress of Dol Guldur and sent out emmissaries to all those whom he believed to be usefull in his designs and so some arrived in Harad and offered their friendship to the kings of Harad and the remnant of the Black Numenoreans, the latter began to encourage the worshipping of Sauron, the deity who would release them from Gondors control and bring them their freedom. Rapidly, the Haradrim began to follow Saurons ways while the kings of Harad tried to supress it, still afraid of what Gondor might do should they find out.

But Sauron had divided his enemies and in Gondor a civil war broke out. the new king Eldacar, whose mother was not of Numenorean descent, was opposed by Castamir, a cousin to the throne. The Black Numenoreans and Haradrim joined forces and provoked an uprising in the south. The people of Harad, united by their hatred against Gondor rose up in Thousands. Eldacars followers, the loyalists, had to fight enemies on two fronts now and were weakened while their enemies grew stronger, after five years the loyalists were defeated in a battle that consumed the city of Osgiliath in flames. Eldacar and his followers fled North while Castamir became king.
Gondor could no longer control its Southern land and the Haradrim freed themselves while Eldacars followers still controlled Umbar... but not for long.

Castamirs sons led the fleet of Gondor to the south, and attacked the city from behind while the occupiers fought the armies of Harad on land. After seven days of continuous fighting, the city fell and those defenders that survived were tortured and slain, their bodies displayed along every road leading to the city.

With their victory, the Haradrim kings no longer served one king and started faghting amongst eachother. the Lords of Umbar no longer controlled the Haradrim as they once did and it took them many years to regain their old power. In the meantime their fleet protected them from Gondor, while Harad and Umbar were defeated twice on land it was their fleet that kept them safe.

The Haradrim now began to unite again, bringing together warriors and the great Mumakil near the Southern borders of Gondor, awaiting the onset of Saurons great war, the war that would give the Haradrim one last victory over their archenemies.
And it was in this period that a black rider arrived from the North, an ambassador of Sauron, Wherever he walked, dogs would cower in fear and horses would shy away. Even the boldest of the Haradrim lords felt a chill upon their hearts when transfixed by his gaze. The dark emissary said it would be the last conflict in Middle Earth that would change the world for good or evil, Sauron would fight the heirs of Elendil, Lord Sauron, he said was seeking to reestablish old alliances, for had he not always been a friend to those who struggled against the men of the stone land in the North? Alnarin, head of the council asked if Lord Sauron took them for fools, for it was plain that had been always for ends that were his alone.
Furthermore it seemed to Alnarin that the friendship of Harad was greatly prized now that others were in need of aid. They would stand alone and not become embroiled in the conflicts of other lands, like some dog that has learnt to perform a pleasing trick for its master in exchange for a few scrapes from his table. A cold silence fell upon the room as the dark messenger considered these words. He then turned and without a word, left the great hall.

Though the council s gave orders that this messenger should be banished, those sent to perform their will could not find this dark figure. It was as if he had vanished, leaving no sign of his passing.
In the dead of the night, long after the council members had retired to their chambers, the still air was split by a long drawn out wail, an evil cry from somewhere within the city which froze the blood of all who heard it. Scant momernts later, another cry went up in answer, this time beyond the city walls.
The following day, as the suns rays danced across the spires of the city, Alnarins servants found the ruined form of their master upon his bed. His body had been hacked nearly apart, as if set upon by a great many foes, though the window was barred and the guard outside the door could recall nothing of the previous night.

When the remaing members of the council convened later that day, the dark messenger came before them once more. He had come for their final answer: at this secongd visit, the council dared not deny him.

OOC: PLease don't make the numbers in ure armies too much, last time we had 100,000 Gondorians, bull-sh*t, that wud have made them the same number as the orcs so not too much over-exaggeration of forces.

IC: Saruman's hand was over the palantir, again, like it had been last week and the weeks before. Still, the only other presence he could sense wasw that of the Eye. He waited for the presence of another, a weaker one, in the form of a weak man, one he could bend towards his will, and towards the lands of darkness where they would easily go mad with fright. It was his masters plan, and the messenger that had arrived the day before had told him the Rohan was his for the taking.

Already the first of his Uruk Hai were ready. There were only a hundred of them, yet since they were the first-spawned, they would be his elite, the ones that would establish there dominance over the younger Uruks. The first "born" was Lurtz. He had forced the other Uruks to obey him, and after several beatings, they had bowed down to his awesome muscles and build. There had origianlly been one-hundred and one first-spawned, but Lurtz had ripped the head off one of the others in his struggle for leadership,m he had done it with his teeth and bare claws. The hundred elite were all under his command now.

They were trained by the orcs Saruman had trained to be the best, and so were known as weapons-masters. There were a hundred of them too, for the hordes that Saruman would spawn would number many hundreds, more probably thousands, if not tens of thousands. The lead weapons master was Zaknafein, assigned to train Lurtz, yet within a month, Zaknafein was dead. Lurtz had bested him in all forms of combat, with any weapon. When the ambitious and bitter Zaknafein had made to slit open Lurtz's throat in the night, Lurtz had duly woken, and ripped out Zak's windpipe, the orc was then thrown to the rest of the Uruks who, outraged, ate him.

After 2 months o harsh training in fighting, foraging, stealth and other things, the hundred elite Uruks were ready. Lurtz was armed with his scimitar and shield, as well as his bow. The rest of the Uruks were all armed with the weapons they had shown an aptitude with when training. They were all armoured in light leather armour, though Lurtz and his 9 other squad leaders had meshes of fine mithril, given to Saruman when he was still good. The hundred Uruks were to be fast marchers, and dangerous unemcumbered fighters.

The Uruks left, taking the route to Roan, and preparing to scout when they got there.

The next hundred from the spawning pools would be the captains, each to be second only to Lurtz, who would be second only to Saruman. These captains would each command one hundred other Uruks, and each would be spawned from the same spawning pool to increase mingling with others.

With these preparations for his army under way, Saruman smiled at the noises he could hear as the captains were spawned. He conveyed the thoughts to Sauron, then went back into his waqtchful and concentrated search for any other presence who woulduse a palantir.

OOC: tomorrow i go away for a week to wales, please dont RP anything that would be too major to my forces at the moment, e.g the hundred scouts being attacked etc. Also please dont get rid of me as Isengard, i will RP with as much skill as possible when i return

The Balrog sat, wreathed in flames, in his dark pit, contemplating the goblins who served him out of sheer terror. They were making quite a racket in their noisy preparations for war.

“I could kill them all in an instant,” he thought to himself. “Though, at least they are creations of Melkor and preferable to those damnable Dwarves. Blasted servants of Aule.”

His thoughts then turned to the events of the previous days:

A Dark Rider had entered Moria through way of Durin’s Bridge about three days time ago. The rider was immediately attacked by goblins, but he felled them easily, announcing, “I am one of the Nine, servant of Sauron.” Upon mentioning of that name, the Balrog became much intrigued, and showed himself to the mysterious stranger. The rider revealed himself to be a Nazgul, and went on to explain the events of the last two Ages. The Balrog was not surprised to hear that Melkor’s most powerful servant yet lived and was attempting to take the lands that rightly belonged to him.

The Nazgul left as quickly as he had come, and the Balrog entered into the Great Hall of Moria, demanding that the orcs come out and stand before him. As they timidly obeyed his order, he shouted “Slaves, the time has come to pillage the world above. Long have we waited in the dark for a chance to taste the flesh of man and elf again, and now we shall. Chiefs, assemble together your warriors, others do what they command. Any who does not follow this mandate, will meet the same fate as the Dwarves!”

And now the goblins, thousands of them, prepared for war. They were poorly armed and not greatly skilled, but their greater numbers would overwhelm the enemy, not to mention the rare exceptional warrior amongst them. As his armies prepared, the Balrog dispatched a swarm of bats to ask Sauron where he should stirke first.

The Dwarves of Erebor were no longer quite so safe as they had been, roving bands of orcs had been found by the men of Long Lake, the Dwarves shifted production from peace to war, forging mighty axes and swords of Mithril Silver, as well as coats of Plate and Mail, they woulsd all be prepared, and if the enemy came too soon they would simply "look to the left" for a time.

OOC: Look to the Left: A dwarven saying that means "look to the left of your tools", all dwarven tools may be used as weapons, when you look to the left you use them for weapons instead of using them to build, or forge, etc., it also applies to mining equipment, like their helmets, and the armor they wear to protect against cave-ins.

Harad was a wasteland, where metal remained a scarce good, thus a Haradrim warrior usually carried a bow or a spear, while for his protection, he depended on a small wooden shield or copper armour. Not much use in close combat but atleast it offered them some protection against arrows and spears at greater distances.
Offcourse their light armour had its advantages, they were much lighter then a fully equipped knight, allowing them to move faster and spare the animals that carried them into battle.

The only people who possessed enough metal to make a sword of the scimitar type, were the chieftains and kings, for whom it served as a weapon as well as a symbol of their power.

One such kings was Suladan, a young but ambitious king who had recently succeeded his father. He dreamed of a united Harad, capable of beating its enemies, even those in the Stone land or Sauron. For him the war came at a good time, it gave him the opportunity to unite his peoples and lead them into battle against an old foe. If he was succesful, he could continue his war and free his people from outside influence.

While the haradrim assembled for war, Suladan couselled other chieftains and rallied those who had common cause to his side. Along the road he slew those he could not trust in single combat, for Suladan was gifted with great skill in combat, he was as fast and deadly as a serpent.
Soon now his force began to grow and slowly they made the first part for their journey, while visiting chieftains, inviting them to follow him. His reputation grew every day and chieftain now visited Suladan, to see whether this Serpent Lord was indeed the man who would deliver them.

Rhun

Shriekings of war filled the ambient middle softened air, smoke rising from their ally in the west, as the dark Easterlings gathered forth with haste and eptitude against the waging war that was yet to soon come along. Zirrankah, the leader of this violent warmongering wage of forces, launched his men west, towards the plains of Dagorlad where the screams of the dead filled eft ears soft and quiet.

Bringingful mountains of light shone with utmost brilliance, as the sunlight blinded their eyes, their visors under great strain with such foe amongst them. The elves of Rivendell and the Sons of Numenor were hath forth none to be of their attention, but the allies of the Dwarves of Erebor, the relatives of their soon to be defeated rivals, would feel the cold hard steel and the firey blaze of the might of their ally Mordor as he would ravage his way across the western mounds, and through towards the Valar.

for the easterlings marched on, and with their contempt at the enemy, the soldiers began to lurch forwards, towards Dagorlad, and the luminous and ominous tower of the teeth, where the wary black gate laid.

The Balrog approached the Gate of Moria, which had been sealed ever since Balin tried to take the mines back. He wielded a sword of flame as he drew nearer to the sealed passage, goblins and orcs filling the tunnels behind him. “No longer will we be sealed beneath these mountains!” he bellowed as he plunged his sword into the ancient gate. Is shattered before his power, though he realized he would never be able to fit through the small opening with bringing the entire mine down. He quickly drew back, and allowed his slaves to poor through the entrance, and out into the night air beyond.

The Watcher in the Water let them pass, as the Balrog had commanded him in the places below, for the Balrog ruled there as well, his power a testament to Melkor. As the orcs pored out by the thousands, the Balrog shouted, “To Rivendell. Crush the elves, show them the power of the orc. You are the superior creation. When Melkor formed you from the elves, he was finishing the inept works of Eru and Illuvatar. Finish what he began, wipe the unfinished trash from the face of Middle Earth!”

The orcs and goblins roared and snarled at his words at they continued to spread onto the land outside of the Mine. Soon thousands of orcs were swarming across the land, defiling at they went. They were armed with old dwarven weapons and wore poorly adapted dwarven armor, some of mithril but most of common steel and iron. The archers wielded bows constructed from the bones of dead dwarves, and some were outfitted in armor made from dwarf bones, as well. The cave trolls followed close behind. They were fully covered in plated iron, made from dwarven armor plastered together, and welded spiked balls on chains, spiked clubs, and a few even had giant claymores.

They kept close to the mountains, and when they stopped to rest before day break, they took refuge in the caves, leaving some orcs outside to keep watch.

OOC: I'm going to pick up where I left off in the last RP.

IC: Tower of Ecthelion, Minas Tirith, Gondor
Boromir gazed out through the window, out at the White City before him, with prosperous people going about their daily lives, always mindful of the shadow of Mordor in the distance, beyond the green plains, the stone walls of Osgiliath, and the mighty river Anduin. He sighed. Gondor was not at its height. Indeed, the Sons of Numenor had been in decline ever since the incursions of the Wainriders, the Great Plague, and the Kin-Strife of generations past, to say nothing of the end of the Line of Isildur. The Dark Powers were on the rise again, and the Free Peoples of Middle-Earth would be hard-pressed to stop them.

And yet, Boromir could feel a change in his people. Ever since the planting of the new White Tree in the Fountain Court, a steely resolve had taken the place of the despair of the Gondorians. Everyone could sense the changes coming, most for the worse, and yet they were ready to fight. None would give up their land or their freedom without a fight. Boromir would lead them, if not to victory, then to a glorious death.

But that was not upon them yet. Changes were happening, and some were for the good. The Dwarves and Elves were arming, and all the Free Peoples would present a united front, although no word had been heard from Rohan. The White Rider, Mithrandir, was even rumoured to have been seen, and some even said that an heir of Isildur would come, to lead Gondor to victory.

But the news Boromir was about to hear would not be good. He turned from the window, but then whirled back as a pigeon landed on the sill. He reached down and untied the slip of paper on his leg, recognizing his brother Faramir's handwriting as he unrolled it. It was simple, and terse, but filled him with dread.

Brother,
300,000 orcs are massing in Eastern Osgiliath. They are building boats for an assault. My men will be insufficient, although they will die protecting our ancient capital. Reinforcements are required.

Faramir

Boromir grimaced, and suddenly was a whirl of action. He called the Captain of the Fountain Guard, leading out them and the Tower Guard, with any troops that could be spared. He and his men marched out the next day, reaching Osgiliath soon, finding Faramir and his men busy reinforcing the walls.

The trebuchets were in position, and had fired on the foul enemy even before they entered their boats; but now, at closer range, even more were falling to the mighty machines. They threw chunks of masonry soaked in tar and flaming brands at the boats.

The soldiers of Gondor stood at the top of the great walls, their bows ready. Many dumped had dumped oil into the water, which had spread to such a magnitude as to cover practically the entire crossing, it sat there, stagnant in the calm, until the flaming trebuchet stones crashed through the enemy boats and into the water, bringing up vast sheets of flame about the orcs in the sluggish, barely moving Anduin.

The soldiers on the walls, to compound the problem for the orcs, fired volleys of flaming arrows into their midst, while largely sheltered by the crennellations. The great longbows of the Gondorians could reach all the way to the other side of the river; so the vile scum were met with 60,000 flaming shafts per volley, the men firing fast, almost unable to miss in the press of enemy boats, and even the few that did miss would set new parts of the river aflame.

OOC: 300,000 orcs? Sauron could only muster 120,000 for the assault on Gondor in the books, and that was including the vast combined armies of Rhun and Harad, which you don't have at your disposal yet.

The sun was down and the goblins, orcs and trolls of Moria were awakening. Tonight was the night, the night where they would poor into the Elvin valley and defile it. Doubtless the elves knew they were only minutes away from them, only a deaf mute without a sense of smell wouldn’t know that they were drawing near. The army consisted of three thousand goblins, two thousand normal sized orcs and thirty-five cave trolls. Tonight, much blood would be spilled, and the orcs couldn’t be happier.

Early in the moring, while the sun rose on the horizon and brought light into a Haradrim encampment. A group of Haradrim who had moved out first, led by two chieftains. Murakir, a distant relative of Suladan and Hagraz, a friend and loyal servant to Suladan.

Their small army had reached the Harnen river the night before, they were the first of the Haradrim army to do so, knowing it would be difficult to feed the entire army they decided to move alone, and maybe they could achieve an early victory and enhance their reputation among their kin.

'When will we meet the armies of the stone land' Hagraz asked Murakir while he prepared his horse 'It will take us a day or to more to reach the Poros river, and if what Suladan told me, is true then we will have no trouble getting past Pelargir.' Murakir said 'Mordor has gone to war with the stone land near Osgiliath and while Gondors troops fight in its defense, they remain blind for all other things that move. Near Pelargir, we can wait for our brethren to join us and move forth together.'

Hagraz, satisfied with the situation got on his horse and ordered the guards to wake the others while Murakir studied his maps looking for weak spots in the defenses of Gondors capital. Soon he would see Suladan again and he did not want to waste time

IC: The huge numebrs of orc catapults opened fire on the enermy trebusets, there where many, many of the poorly made catapults and though they wehre lyable to breaking down the sheer weight of fire, joined by the fire of the Orc archers, was doing damage. The Orcs who had been succeded in getting out of the river had disappeared off somewhere, unseen by the gondorians. They where distracted by battalions of Orc Archers who marched forwards and opened fire upon the Gondorians, trying to win through saturation fire.

IC: The trebuchets, despite being very well protected in the towers of Osgiliath, were still taking some damage, but continued to lob their masonry at the catapults. The archers concentrated on the enemy orcs. Faramir's rangers, spread out on either side of the main force, shot at any enemies within range.

At Minas Tirith, Boromir welcomed the elves, and bade them proceed to Osgiliath to help his brother Faramir. Meanwhile, he heard tidings of Haradrim mustering from the southern guard, and ordered the remaining 10,000 rangers to proceed to Southern Ithilien.

IC: The arrows flew thick and fast, and as the trolls came up, several of the trebuchets flung their massive stones at them, trying to bring them down. Meanwhile, as the orcs ran past the trolls, along the bridge, Faramir shouted an order. His best marksmen drew an arrow, and fired it at a small catch on the side of the bridge. The trap was sprung, as the planks of the bridge fell down, flinging the orcs into the flaming water and making a new, larger gap that hopefully Sauron's forces would not be able to breach.

Standing at the heels of his armies, at the forefront of his men, the Easterling commander Zirrankah lifted up his head, and stared ominously into the towers that loomed with meance above their heads and shoulders.

Near Plargir, or what remained of the city since its destruction in the middle of the third age, the Haradrim armies arrived and now prepared themselves for the last part of their trip to the North. Soon they would meet the orcs and attack Minas Tirith, capital of Gondor.

While their troops arrived, Suladan and the chieftains discussed their battleplans, a discussion that did not goeasy, some of the leaders wanted to cross the Anduin in the South whilst others perferred to join forces with the orcs before they crossed. Eventually it was Suladan himself who had to decide and knowing it would be difficult to get the Mumakil across the river near its mouth chose to march North.

ooc: Lets get some things right, numbers! The total number of orcs in LotR is 50.000 of which 10.000 were sent to Gondor, seems strange but Sauron feared an attack while his forces were away. The Haradrim army is probably 8-10.000 strong while on the other side there were some 6000 (out of a total of probably 12.000) riders of Rohan and between 8 and 10.000 Gondorians. The dwarven army can probably muster another 10.000 while there was an army of about the same size of Rhun(remember they attacked gondor and Dale, in Dale they killed dain and the king of Dale(brand?) and the dwarves fled to the lonely mountain). Moria could count on aprox. 20.000 Goblins and Isengard has about 10.000 Uruk Hai. I dont know how strong the elves are, since they dont fight much during the war of the Ring. These numbers are estimates but I believe they are pretty correct(unless someone has better numbers, there were also estimates in the first LotR RP from a LotR forum).

The 10,000 dwarves made good time to the Anduin, they first took barges down the Long Lake to the Forest River, from there they followed the River to where it met the Anduin, this took nearly a week, and the trip up the Anduin would take much less time than was originally thought, since they woud be running down the river to the Gladden Fields, taking onl another 6-7 days, cutting a whole week off of theirestimated travel time.

Also, many men were attacking the Haradrim also, not to mention that in The Return of the King, when the reinforcements from the outer kingdoms arrive in Minas Tirith, everyone says that the outer kingdoms would have contributed more, but they were fighting off the Corsairs of Umbar. That hasn't happened, so all those reinforcements would be available.

OOC: I just finished watching the movie, and you're right, I think that with the reinforcements from the outer kingdom, and the lack of depredations by Sarumon, there would be at least 20,000 men of Gondor, and at least half of that in Rohirrim.

ooc: The total force that was sent from the outerkingdoms is 3000, due to the threat from the Corsairs. Once the battle was over and Umbar defeated, they brought together another 4000. Those 4000 remained at the city with some of the troops from Gondor while a combined force(incl Rohan) of 7000 marched to the black gate. I did not include Dol Amroth in my estimates because I really have no idea about their strength.
LotR, the book also mentions that Osgiliath was attacked by 7000 orcs(more were sent to attack Minas Tirith but no exact figures), so that estimate that i made about 10000 orcs isnt that bad at all.
Theoden said at the encampment that there were '6000 spears, less than half of what I hoped for.' so the 12.000 numbers is ok(make it 15 if you like that better).
Most of these are estimates but I'm not far off.
And yes it was king bard, thank you for correcting.

I'm not telling you to use these exact figures, actually i'd perfer that you dont use figures at all, but 10000 rangers seems alot. they'd almost outnumber me(and i dont think that is correct).

Gondors rangers took the Haradrim by surprise and many fell to the acurate arrows. And while one of the Mumakil went wild, the Mahud chieftain lost control and trampled several Haradrim, Suladan intervened. Bringing his personal guard with him he moved to the left into the bushes in an attempt to catch the rangers from behind.

In the meantime Murakir tried to save as many of his men as he could, ordering them to move out of the open and attack their ambushers wherever they could find them. Raza, a Harad king came from the rear and seeing the effect of the enemies weapons on the mumakil, ordered them to pull back , away from the forest road.

After many long ardous days and night, did finally reached the towers of the teeth, and the large adamant-like gates of Mordor's entry laid, the Easterlings awaiting their entrance into the supposed lands of shadow. Standing at the heels of his armies, at the forefront of his men, the Easterling commander Zirrankah lifted up his head, and stared ominously into the towers that loomed with meance above their heads and shoulders.

Yet, with a loud cry from the very bowels of his soul, he reaped a venerable scream that pulsed with strength of the army of the Easterlings, as they awaited to enter Mordor. His army, with their unpounding strength, cried in unison, to open the black gates so that they may enter and discuss the plans of the war.
The gates opened slowly as the cave trolls pushed them open. The King of the Nazgul was there adn he waited for them. Sires! he said his voice a steely whisper. My master requires your aid in crossing the river if you would make haste there.

Southern Ithilien
The rangers continued firing their flaming arrows at the Haradrim, simply climbing trees and resorting to their cunningly-laid traps when Suladan and his men neared, changing some of their fire to his forces.

OOC: Unless you're pretty much just starting on the journey through Ithilien, there isn't really any way to pull back out of the Forest Road. I will move all my troops and all cavalry into the forest, we'll use our bows and set fire to the trees they are climbing in, they have already given us fire to begin with.'
While Suladan returned to the man army, Haradrim archers came to the front and moved forward in a long line firing arrows at the trees where they could see rangers or believed they could be hiding. The dwarves reacted to this charge, parting halfway through the lines, then closing and stopping the shield bearers cold with crossbow bolts from behind, they were strong, and no man could defeat the kin of Durin the Daethless.

At osgilliath there was more trouble, the poisoned arrows had little effect, for dwarves are hardier than any other race, and resist the attacks of poison and fire better than all others, but the arrows still found chinks in armor, killing a few and wounding many more, but they fought on, undeterred by the orcs turning to face them, that was exactly what they wanted, so why should they complain when it happened, they advanced, their blades glinting in the bright sun, while their masks struck fear in their enemies hearts, and Orcrist stilllead the charge, cleaving a swath of death greater than any three other dwarves combined, Dain was an engine of destruction, killing all who faced him, and putting heart into his followers as they fought the foul orcs of Sauron.

"Hath thy shields penetrate our foes defenses?" Arnetika roared loudly, asking his legions as they pounded with a sense of stalemate over useless land, against the enemy. For the enemy dwarves, hardy and strong, resistant and powerful, with many strong laiden forges and great weapons, still had to fight the Easterlings, the muscle of the east, geared towards the elimination of the Dwarven race, tall and lanky with firm builds and strong abilities. But they were inexorably pushed back again and again, and it was apparent that the Dwarves outmuscled and outnumbered them, as well as allies that aided them in their endeavour.

"Deflect enemy advances, for I shalt deal with our enemies as I see fit. Thoust commands is temporarily yours, dear son." He told his lieutenant, although not his son, but the bond of trust he had developed with him was as great as father and son, as Arnetika unsheathed his massive axe, and charged forwards, yelling loudly as more men charged, trying in vain to temptly break the enemy lines.

Meanwhile, past the borders of Dagorlad

"Ambush is the key. If our foe has not a sight of our arrival, then advance swiftly shalt we, and we shalt truly aid in our lesser men with fury and slaughter." Zirrankah spoke ot his captains, as they walked along him, the men behind trudging along with trebuchets and catapults in pieces, ready for deployment.

"But great commander, what is the purpose of this city?" A captain asked briefly.

"If the city is taken, then the river is taken. Then shalt down with the defenses of the alledged 'white city', and therefore circumsizes the times in the fall of western men."

"Alas! Then great Rhun will propser as Sauron will aid in our killings of the Dwarves."

"Yes, dear captain. For nigh art the paunch and valiant little warriors, and for great a many time hath they dodged our reconcile and our glorious race."

"But shalt Sauron wilt be with on his word?"

"I trust the ruler of Mordor with my life. And so does all our chief lords, hath they not? For if not, then blindly we are fighting for an unjust cause."

"Unjust our cause surely is..." But the sound drowned out, as the battlements of the enemy were heard in the near distance, and the shrieking of the ravaging Nazgul filled their ears. Pressing his fingers painfully along his ears, Zirrankah murmured quietly.

"Blast these foul beastial allies! They seem as if they seek to harm everyone as well!" and with that, he lit a flaming arrow, and shot it high from atop a hill overlooking the carnage, signalling to his fellow Rhunic warriors that reinforcements had arrived.

The charging Easterlings met a solid shield wall, the round shields of the dwarves stopped many blades, and those that got through the shields rarely killed, bruises and broken bones would be the greatest casualties of this battle. A single dwarf stepped forward to oppose the leader, his massive black sword glinted with an inner light, like a blade posessed of some evil spirit. "Well wog, will ye face me, or will ye run from a man half yer own height?"

The Shield wall held, and the men continued to fight the vile orcs. Boromir fought like a machine, his blade cleaving up and down on the scum, periodically blowing the Horn of Gondor to raise the spirits of his men. The archers continued to rain their shafts on the enemy forces.

Osgiliath
The Nasgul came, and many were filled with fear, but then Faramir shouted, "Arise, men of Gondor! We shall be victorious this day!" And the men cheered, their shafts fell with unrelenting fury upon the foul Rhunic warriors and the foul orcs, the trebuchets firing at the armoured foes, crashing through them indiscriminately. However, then Faramir saw the flaming arrow, and knew more enemies were arriving. He sent word to the dwarves, bading them retreat across the river to the wall, so that the traps along the riverbank could be activated on the enemy.

Alreadya thousand of the Uruk Hai had been spawned. Each of the hundred captains had the control of their first 9 men, and all one-thousand were being trained in the pike, scimitar, shield, and sometimes crossbow, depending on what company they were in. Each of te Urks had been measured at spawning, and so each had a custom made suit of armour being forged, to fit the individual.

Lurtz and his elite cadre of light infantry were the best. Most of them stood at over 7' tall, and each was a master with their chosen weapon. They now marched for Rohan, and expected to keep marching, and meet no resistance. The men and women of Rohan were in an unending sleep (until someone comes to play them) and the Uruks simply marched through.

They kept marching, and soon they were marching through the (place that the Rohirrim muster in the book) and then they were past. They had only another 4 days of marching, and soon they would be in Gondor. They would come up behind the forces of Good, they were the vanguard of Saruman's army.

The Uruks when they moved, were silent. If any man, even a ranger of Gondor, or a dwarf, was watching an open field, they would not see the Uruks creeping along the hedgerows, or crawling along, until it was too late, and they had an arrow or blade in their neck. They would come unoticed by all, to Gondor.

The fifty warg riders (thats about right isnt it??) rode hard and fast. They were to ride around over the Anduin, and then come to Cair Andros, or Osgiliath, Saruman had asked them to on orders from Sauron. Apparently a great battle was brewing here. One that could destroy most of Gondor's defences even before the full strength of any of the evil factions was brought to bear.

Khazad means dwarf, they are dwarf guards like the citadel guards or the Rohan royal guards. So basicly Dain Ironfoor would have some Khazad guards with him at all times. They are the best fighters among the dwarves and wear the best axes and offcourse their armor is made of all the mithril they can find. There are probably one or twohundred with Dain at most. There total number should certainly not go over four or five hundred.

Slowly now the Haradrim moved on through the forest firing at anything that moved, but Suladan started wondering how long it would take them to get to Osgiliath like this 'We cannot continue like this, It must go faster, or we will arrive at the battle when it is over. How many have we lost so far? with this question Suladan looked at Murakir, who did not know the exact number 'Several hundred i am afraid, i'd say fourhundred but i am not sure' Suladan sighed and looked out over the river Maybe we should cross it, if we could find a spot that is not to deep and allows us to pass over with the Mumaks... we could make some rafts or boats with cut down threes and maybe supplement them with fishing boats. The other side is open without vegetation and allows us to move fast, faster than the rangers on this bank. We would have the element of surprise as they do not expect us on that side. Murakir, try to find out how fast we could cross the river and where... i am tired of wasting time here against an enemy that does not show itself openly.' Murakir saw potential in a crossing but realized that he'd have to find the right spot first. And he had to make sure it was far from the Rangers' positions to maintain secrecy, if they found out they would turn up at the other bank before they could.

Lurtz bent down and ripped the leg off a deer as he went past. The animal had first been blinded, and then lamed, and then killed by the mob of crows that Saruman had sent to aid the elite Uruks. Luckily, no animal could foul a whole river, nor could they destroy the canteens of the Uruks, or their personal packs. Leaving the heavy baggage, the Uruks had slaughtered the orcs while they slept, and taken the gobbets of meat away.

Although the animals had slowed the advance by destroying food, their corpses were now speeding it along. The crows had watched from on high, and whenever thay had seen an animal, they fell on it without mercy, nothing was spared. Anything the crows could not kill were blinded, great bears were found by the Uruks, wandering about the woodland , and then they were killed and eaten.

The crows had killed two of the carrier-birds sent out by Radagast. Only the pigeon to Mithlond got through. Saruman was worried, if he was attacked soon, Orthanc would only be defended by just over 2,000 Uruks, and of course Saruman's own sorcery. He quickly set about getting his orcs that were doing nothing to work. They were to go out and recruit the Wild men of Dunland. He would give them Rohan if they helped him. Luckily the crows had caught and killed the returning message carrier, and now Saruman knew what was coming from Mithlond.

He got his wild men, and orcs to go out and lay mantraps everywhere, they set up trip-wires and pitfalls, anything that would be unnoticed, even by an elf.
Saruman was confident that he could divert the elves away from Orthanc. For now he would just have to keep his armies in check, before he went south to help destroy Gondor.

The ranger was pitched forward, to fall onto his front with a black fletched arrow sticking out of his back. Lurtz carried on goin, plucking the arrow out of the man's back, before sprinting though to the end of the wood. He looked around quickly, and saw open fields stretching away from him. He saw another five rangers running across this field. None in Gondor could know that the first Uruks had crossed it's borders. He sent out a low whistle, and the other 15 Uruks who had bows ran out of the woods. Each pulled their bows back, and let fly, they had to fire two volleys as they rangers were spread out, yet after the second volley, none of the rangers were still sprinting, the ones left alive turned, to find scimitars flashing down towards them. The first Uruks were in Gondor, and none knew.

"Surely this is not a fair fight, with all three of you, not counting your cowardly minions, against one man. But then again, that is how Sauron fights. My apologies." Boromir's blade of Numenor sliced across, attempting to cut all three of the ringwraiths, and then continued around to slice into the orcs near him. His men continued fighting, holding their own. A group of archers noticed the orcs near Boromir, and loosed a volley, killing the ones near him, before returning to help the swordsmen.

Boromir merely smiled, and whirled his sword up, while dodging the move to his throat. His blade came crashing down again, cleaving hopefully through two of the evil beasts.

Lutz crouched. He looked around him, scenting the smells on the wind. He could smell blood....man blood, goblin blood, blood he had never smelt, but had been warned would belong to elf or dwarf. He looked right, fairly far away he could see the great city of Minas Tirith. From his left he could see the Anduin, and he could hear the sounds of battle. He motioned his small band, and they turned and ran towards the sounds of battle, silently and using the dead ground and cover. When he could finally see the battle, all he could see was a row of silver armoured men. Standing with their backs to him. Boromir's sharp blade cut through the fabric, righting itself in time to block the blow to his chest. The sword to his swordhand was caught on the guard of his sword, while he almost dodged the blow to his legs, getting a cut on them.

Lurtz got all his men to crouch again. He whirled around to see Grethag reloading his crossbow, and scoring a notch on the stock. He crawled over to him, and lifted him up by the throat. The air was filled by a whistling noise, and lUrtz dropped the Uruk again, before the arrows had got close enough to hit it. Anybody else starts the fight without orders, and they will die next time....got it? Lurtz would now have to wait until darkness to be abe to attack without getting devastated by the arrow fire that would surely pour in the moment any Uruk showed hi face. Lurtz picked up the half throttled Grethag and hurled him at the sid of the hill. Start tunneling maggot, if they start to fire over the hill we'll be dead as a stuck pig Tjhe rest of the Uruks also heard his words, and began to feverishly dig them selves a small hole in the side of the hill.

They would keep this up until dark, then they would attack.

OOC: Yes, it's called intimidation
IC: The wraith pulled his dagger out a caught the strike on the hilt, which was bent but not broken, this caused the blade to reboud upwards and away. The nazgul then drove the knife at the dewarfs uprotected throat, the blade hitting the armour with lighting speed, surly it would cut the throat in two.

OOC: Bent knife, cleave mithril? I doubt it.

I feel sorry for you, you'll need to A: use the mace to kill him, or B: keep hitting him until you break a few bones.

IC:

The knife creased the mail, parting a few links, but not giving him more than a nasty bruise, it was mithril, toughest armor on the whole of Middle-Earth, no blade was truly effective against it, many could still damage the person beneath in the armor, but few could part the armor to actually cut them. Dain reeturned the favor, attacking viciously, he was getting rather battered, but he was a Dwarf, not like a few bruises would stop him.

OOC: Isn't the second dewarf fighting the other wraith?

OOC: When the two wraiths attacked one dwarf that gave the second an opening, when the second attacked, and they attacked him, that gave the first an opening, it's a rather common tactic to keep the enemy on their toes.

OOc: A bit strange how the dwarves seem to be immensly good against guys that are amazing fighters you know. Well Zombie-dude, they are hero-dwarvews, not just basic footsoldiers.(I'll give you the scalew I use for gaguing characters ability to fight\magic etc. if you like.)

OOC: Aust, this is Erebor. If Bilbo found a suit a mithril small enough for himself, the treasure of the dragon would surely contain many more. I would guess at least five.

IC: Cair Andros
Boromir ducked, the nasgul's blades slicing above his head, while his blade slashed down at the nasgul's exposed leg, kicking towards him. There was no way the nasgul could avoid the blow.

Minas Tirith
The people of Minas Tirith welcomed the elves with open arms. Esgalath, Captain of the Tower Guard, and in charge until the steward returned, told the elves the news from Gondor. "At Osgiliath, a large force waits across the river, while we are assaulted in the rear by Uruk-Hai from Isengard. In the north, at Cair Andros, my lord Steward is beset by three nasgul and many orcs. Whatever soldiers you can spare, they are needed at both fronts."

Osgiliath
Since the orcs were not attacking, the archers opposite the Uruk-Hai turned around, using the crenellations of the wall as cover while they fired volleys of arrows into the minions of Saruman. Meanwhile. many trebuchets began targeting their stones on the pits the Uruk-Hai had dug, huge chunks of masonry whistling through the air.

OOC: btw caladonn you can't see the holes, there's a hill with a dip beside it, and ive dug into the side of the hill on the other side to you because i wanted some cover from arrows possibly coming over the top. These are my best and I don't really want to lose them to trebuchet, rather to close combat. Plus do you know just how hard it would be to turn a trebuchet all the way around, because that is what many of them would have to do

OOC: The soldiers saw Lurtz disappear behind a hill, so then they targeted the hill with Trebuchets. It's just the natural thing to do.

It's true they take a while to turn around, however some of these weren't turned toward the river anyway, and all are positioned on special trebuchet mounts in towers, meaning they can turn around much more easily.

IC: Minas Tirith
"Good, make haste to Osgiliath. But may I suggest to you, do not leave soldiers here, send them to Cair Andros to help fight."

Cair Andros
Boromir brought his blade up at the Nasgul, forcing it upwards. The sigils on the Numenorean steel glowed brightly, it was possible the Nasgul's weapon would break.

IC: Lurtz chuckled as another chunk of rock landed with a thud in front of his hole. The men could not see properly, and they were just firing blindly over the hill. The men would not figure out that the Uruks were actually in the hill, and not behind it. Lurtz was still chuckling when a crow landed on his shoulder. He took the message off the leg of it.

Lurtz, elves have come down behind you. It is a large force that will cause a lot of trouble for you if it catches you unprepared. Hide or be ready to fight

Saruman

Thinking quickly, Lurtz came up with a plan

"Right Ladz, get urselfs handling those big rocks. I want a half decent wall here, if we're gonna be caught by some pointy eared weaklings, then I want some defences ALRIGHT get to it!!"

*****

Saruman surveyed his army. Finally it was ready, ten-thousand armoured and armed Uruk-Hai were ready to go to battle, and they were loyal only to him. He would lead them, and then Lurtz would take command of the army when the two forces linked up.

On a black horse (I know he doesn't have a black horse, but i need some transporyt for him, and a white horse would be too gandalf-esque) he led the army of Isengard out towards Gondor, where they would catch the forces of Gondor unprepared and unready for an attack from the direction of their allies, Rohan.

Possable but not likley, the nazgul whipped his blade out of Boromirs blades flightpath and let it swing up past his head, knowing the man would sweep it down again he stepped backwars and drew out his mace, the other Nazgul did the same. The three stepped back and began whiling the chain around and around, a single blow would kill a man, or dewarf.

A single blow could kill a Dwarf, true, but that blow had to hit, and while the chains were gathering momentum they struck, the twin blades Ringil and Anguirel lashed out and up, driving at the heads of the Nazgul that the two Dwarves faced.

As Boromir's Dwarven allies were dealt blows, Boromir drew two knives of Numenorean make from his boot, all the while keeping up his sword to deflect the retreating Nasguls' blows. He then threw them at the Nasgul he was fighting, one at each side of him, even if he dodged they would hit his companions.

Lothlorien: By virtue of her prescience, Galadriel discerns the presence of the Uruk Hai in Osgiliath, and wary of the intentions of Saruman relating to the elves, she and Celeborn ordain that the host of Lothlorien be mustered. Entrusting the defence of the realm to Haldir and the other assorted elven waywatchers, Galadriel and Celeborn depart towards Osgiliath at the head of some 1000 elves in the full panoply of an elven host.

"damn yur hides yous Idiots" Yelled Lurtz as two of his Uruks on the right were smacked by a large trebuchet stone. " Stop getting hit ladz, there's elves to fight, soon, they're gonna kill us all, or die alright? Now it's getting drark, but I want ten Uruk shifts..... 90 Uruks inside holes, 10 working out here, GOT IT?"

This way the Uruks managed to attempt to keep their own casualties down, and carry on building the wall.

Soon it was almost pitch dark, and Lurtz crawled up the side of the hill. He could see a human fighting against black robed enemies, and further up a couple of dwarves helping him. Lurtz smiled to himself and selected an arrow from his quiver. He quickly aimed at the small of the humans back. At this range, if he hit, the arrow would punch straight through any armour, except perhaps the finest mithril, and that was not what the human wore.

As the assembled elven host approached Osgiliath by routes unknown to the enemy, Galadriel ordered waywatchers to scry the land between them and Osgiliath in preparation for their assualt. As they proceeded in her orders, the elven captain in command observed a patrol of wargs, and ordered his archers to conceal themselves amongst the rocky landscape. The wargs approached, ignorant of their impending deaths, and at the call of their chieftan, slowed to walking pace. It was now that the captain, aware of the hast that drove his mistress, gesticulated for his archers to fire. The volley scythed into the patrol, felling both warg and rider indiscriminately, and before the survivors were able to rally and profer any form of resistance, a further volley was loosed, which saw to the survivors. The corpses were left to lie, so that their fate may be indicative of the potency of the firstborn of eru, such creatures not considered worthy of burial.

As the captain concluded affairs, he scanned the horizon, and his keen vision fell upon a pyre of smoke rising inexorably from a dark morass to the south, he smiled wryly in anticipation of what woul proceed. They had reached Osgiliath.

OOC: Zombies hehehe, Boromir is fighting in Cair Andros, which is very far away from Osgiliath, and even if he was there, he'd be behind thousands of Gondorian soldiers.

IC: As the stones of the Rhun fell on Osgiliath, the men lept for cover, and the trebuchets roared out in answer, leaving only a few to batter the Uruks. The flaming masonry of Osgiliath, dipped in tar before it was flung into the sky, plunged down on the ascertained area of the Rhunic forces.

In a frantic cry, a desperate gleam, as they shrieked in terror and yelp, many of the Easterlings in vain tried to regain the tall, massive trebuchets from destruction, as the dark stone tarred rocks leapt magnificently, and fell down upon them. "Leave the trebuchets. Our lives are more important for the final invasion."

Zirrankah ordered his faintively scared engineers, as they ran from the trebuchets behind the thick dark end of the mountainside. The great rasping explosion splattered, and splinters flung into the air, gouging many soldiers nearby, and although none felt the swift call of death, they did suffer many minor inconveniences.

"If they're not in your eye, you have no need to complain." Zirrankah told his forces, pulling out a wooden sliver from his ear. "We will retaliate. Fire the remaining trebuchets!"

Far off apart, the trebuchets that were left flung once more into the raging battle, stone enflamed ripping their way into the sky, and ready to drop on the tenacious enemy.
