The stew was nearing completion. Just another hour or so. Iliyakim set a cover on the pot, then took out his tools to start repairing his velxun'yrr.
Fen decided to go for a walk around the compound.

Trafa nodded.
"Perhaps, although they might have equipment that'll detect you, but if so, improvise."
Trafa peered through the scope again, and then turned to Aldaris.
"I need you to get all of them facing North West of my posistion."
Trafa pointed to a spot of trees.
"About there. Get as many distracted as you can, try and get them ALL to look that way, and leave the rest to me. Feel free to kill any of them, just keep them transfixed."
Trafa then unsheathed this Hunting Knife, and looked at a very leafy tree to his right, and grinned.
"I'm going to scale that tree. The moment you stop seeing me, you being the distraction. I'm going to leap in and stab the asshole in the back, or slice him up. Actually, we'll then mop the remainders up. Kill everyone, although, if one's left over and he really begs, just knock him out. Cougar might find him useful. Afterward, we'll go and sweep for anything of value here, documents, the like. Once we've done that, we pile the bodies up, steal a radio, and torch the camp. You comfortable with that?"
OOC: MM, I think you missed something.

Iliyakim thought for a moment. "Go ahead...but only a little. It is a powerful herb."
"Agreed. But it's great for restorative purposes as well as soothing, which some of the cadets who just got back could use. Or anyone, considering we have another mission coming up soon."
He then took out a small knife and chopped a little bit up, and allowed it to boil along with the rest of the ingredients already in the pot.

Iliyakim stirred the boiling mixture. "Yes. It seems that Fen and Jason made a miscalculation or two."

Iliyakim stirred the boiling mixture. "Yes. It seems that Fen and Jason made a miscalculation or two."
"So it would seem." replied Tylas.
"Anyhow, They're probably off somewhere trying to keep out of Cougars way, but they'll come eventually. "
Fen smelt food, and followed his nose to where Iliyakim and Tylas were standing over a stewpot.

"If you say so." Fen replied, "So, how did your mission go?"
Kaymiril
19-10-2005, 03:42
"Very well. They didn't know we were there until well after it was too late to stop us. After destroying the base, it was very easy to pick off the launchers and return to camp. Should I ask of yours?"
OOC:
And that's me until quite late tomorrow.

"First of all, never go in through windows. Second of all...never go into buildings if you can at all help it. Limited ways of successful undetected escape, limited places to hide."
"So what would you have done?" Fen asked
Kaymiril
21-10-2005, 22:46
"Circled the perimeter, noting any and all buildings visible, then send in any spy device possible to try and determine the layout and number of people. After that, I'd have waited for the cover of darkness to penetrate the barrier and do further recon, and get whatever documents presented themselves to me."
"I'll keep that in mind for any further missions of a similar type." Fen replied
Kaymiril
21-10-2005, 23:01
"Keep it in mind always. The best way to end up alive is to always be aware of your situation. A building is dangerous because it is a limiting situation. Plains are dangerous for the same reason."
"So, situational awareness is key?" Fen asked

Fen sat down to wait, before falling asleep in fast order.

22-10-2005, 01:28
How quickly children fall asleep.
He promptly began his most memorable, and unpleasent snoring.
Kaymiril
22-10-2005, 01:33
I wonder if he got his nose broken at some point...
Iliyakim erected the silence spell around Fen for the sanity of the others at the fire.
Shortly after the silence spell was used, Fen stopped snoring.
Kaymiril
22-10-2005, 01:39
Or maybe it's a concious thing.
After about a ten minute nap, Fen woke and began gesturing at Iliyakim.
Kaymiril
22-10-2005, 01:46
The Drow arched an eyebrow at the comical guestures made by the human.
Fen continued to gesture, as he couldn't vocalize, thanks to Iliyakim's spell.
Kaymiril
22-10-2005, 01:51
"I have no idea what point you're trying to get across."
Fen began, or at least attempted to speak, as he couldn't tell what Iliyakim was saying, to see if he could get his point across.
Kaymiril
22-10-2005, 01:54
Fen would be able to hear himself just fine.
The others, not so much.
Fen began ranting at Iliyakim to fix/remove his curse.
Kaymiril
22-10-2005, 02:01
Iliyakim just watched Fen rant. It was cruel, yes...but it was funny.
Fen continued ranting, tossing in the occasional insult as it became appearent that no one could hear him curse.
Kaymiril
22-10-2005, 02:11
Right in the middle of one of these altercations (because lipreading becomes important at some point in every Drow's life), Iliyakim suddenly lets the spell bubble burst.
Fen had been in the middle of a curse about the state of cheese, when he got his voice back. Shaking his head, he faced Iliyakim and spoke, "What was the point of that, and thank you for removing in."
Kaymiril
22-10-2005, 02:18

"It was good comedy."
"For you maybe." Fen commented darkly.
Kaymiril
22-10-2005, 02:43
"It did you no harm."
"Physically, no." Fen agreed
Kaymiril
22-10-2005, 03:02
"Don't tell me you're that emotionally fragile. If you are, go home."
"Who said anything about emotional?" Fen asked
Kaymiril
22-10-2005, 03:16
"Then it did you no harm. Unless you prefer it to, in which case that can still be arranged."
Fen just shook his head, realizing that Iliyakim didn't realize what he was talking about.

I replied to that already
"I think I can handle that, assuming you move when I make the distraction."
Aldaris dissappears from sight, and from most sensors, he now only radiates in the high ultraviolet spectrum, due to the way the light waves are bent around his body.
He silently moves out, and draws his blade, preparing to reap a grisly harvest.

Trafa nodded, and watched as Aldaris disappeared into thin air. Checking the Sniper Rifle was ready, Trafa slung it over his back, and peeked through the scope still in his hand.
1...2...3...4...5...
Trafa bit his lip. This wouldn't be such an easy task after all.
Even with Aldaris' distraction, I can't take the target out up close...and six vs. two...3 vs. 1...not good odds. I need to find a tree with decent cover...
Looking around, Trafa found one nearby. Crouch-running, he made his way to the tree, but didn't go up it just yet. He looked up, and grinned.
The top splits like a V...perfect sniping location. I just pray Aldaris knows what he's doing, and that he can get all those heads turned...
Crouch-running again, Trafa made his way behind the tree, and scaled in in just over half a minute. Crouching on a branch behind the 'V', Trafa pulled out the Sniper Rifle, and reattached the scope. Checking it was loaded, Trafa pushed away a bunch of leaves overhanging his head, and set his sights on one of the soldiers, and waited for Aldaris to make his move...

Aldaris reappeared, and shouted at the soldiers, "Excuse me, might you direct me to the restroom?", probably not the best choice of attention getters, but it was all he could come up with.
Once he was sure he had their attention, he disappeared again, fading from sight with a ripple as light bent at his minds touch.
In his hand his blade danced a deadly pavane, reaching out towards the first soldiers unknowing throat...

The solider was completely clueless. His AK-74 rifle sat in his hands, and a pair of thermal goggles atop his head.
Mini Miehm
27-10-2005, 22:29
This would be easier than he thought, since they had no ability to see him he could simply slaughter them all, and that is exactly what he set about doing, bringing his blade across the first soldiers throat, and continuing on to the next target.

He set it near the door, knocked twice, and left a note with it that said "Give to jason ASAP. Tell him not to be so stupid next time. -Mouse." With that, he pulled out a box the size of a deck of cards, pressed some buttons, took a step forward, and as if walking through a curtain made of air, he dissapeared.

Trafa held his breath as his target of opportunity came clear into his sights. The others had gone to check on their dead companion, leaving the target completely alone. The guards probably wouldn't even know where the shot came from.
But should I? Cougar pretty much said I should refrain from shooting the target...and I've yet to disobey orders...
Cursing, Trafa kept his sights on the target for a few moments. His finger tightened around the trigger.
One chance...
Trafa squeezed on the trigger ever so gently...
...And stopped. Pulling his finger from the trigger, he set his sights back on the guards.
Patience...I'll get him with my knife later...
Trafa watched the guards continue towards their comrade, and prayed that Aldaris could do his job...
Just a couple more guards Aldaris...

Cougar called over to all the trainees (OHMKII and MM, assume your mission is complete. Please. I want to move on. Everyone else wants to move on. You have been taking too long.)),"Everyone, over here, now"
When they were all assembled, he motioned to them to sit, and laid a holoemitter on the ground,"Right, well done for the most part on the partner exercises. Now, we work as a team for a large number of missions, if not all of them. As such, you need to work as a team."
He waved his hand, and the holograms sprung into life in front of them, showing them a half-sunken boat, whose hull had been breached in a number of places,"This is the old cruise liner Mary Star, now sitting on the bed in Grange Cove, one hundred miles away from here. We have intercepted intelligence that a number of smuggling operations are being run out of here, including things such as black market weapons, illegal drugs, and other such things. It's a hotbed of pirate activity. However, until now, this hasn't been a problem. With Lord President Barbarossa cracking down on them, they have taken a number of important political prisoners. Your mission will be to infiltrate the boat, rescue these hostages, and then exfil with them to a safe distance before destroying the boat.*Image changed again*These are the people you have to save. Memorise their faces, as you'll be operating in a split second decision. Accidentally shooting a hostage can be extremely dangerous, and speed is of the esscense.
You'll approach the ship by inflatable Gemini boats, having been dropped into the sea some miles out from the air. Thus, you'll be parachuting in and then using the boats to get closer. Once you get within seeing distance of the ship, cut the engines, and moor the boats in the next bay. Then, you'll have to use SCUBA gear to approach the ship. Once onboard, discover where the hostages are being held, working in two-man teams to clear rooms. We believe they are being held in the holds, below the deck. These areas are no doubt going to be dark, so it's worth taking NVG's with you.
For this assignement, you'll be given MP5N's, a fully marinised version of the MP5 sub-machine gun. Don't worry about immersing it in salt- or fresh water, it'll work fine. You'll also be given SPAS-12 shotguns, but it's at your discretion if you use them or not. Also, you'll each be carrying a number of flashbang grenades, which you've used before in FIBUA (Fighting in Built-Up Areas) training. Make sure you use them effectively.
Once you've secured the hostages, move them to the front of the boat, and place a number of Semtex charges whilst you are on the move, ready to destroy the ship. Once at the foredeck, contact Galena AFB, and a UH-60 will be dispatched to pull you out. Once you've been picked up, detonate the charges.
Now, given that these are smugglers, they are fairly well armed, so expect moderate resistance. Weapons such as AK-74's, M-16's, Uzi's... stuff like that. Also, there may be pulse weapons mixed in there somewhere, so be on your toes.

"Then we'll want to go in from the other cove..." He looked at the ship.
"I'd start rescuing hostages from the aft sections, lowest decks...hardest for an opposing force to get to..."
Experienced eyes flicked over the model of the hull. "Still, it is unwise to keep hostages together...they try and escape..."
He sat in silence for a few moments, looking over the ship.
"Get some rest, everyone. I should have something ready by the time the transport arrives."
Fen had been watching the screens, memorizing what he could. As the team leader gave the sleep order, he laid back and fell asleep where he was.

Iliyakim put a pre-emptive silence spell around Fen.
Even without the spell, there would have been no noise that sleep cycle.

Aldaris wandered of by himself to think, he'd get the "sleep" he needed later, for now he needed to think.

Tylas, before going to bed, made sure he had memorized as much of the hull as he would need, in case flight was necessary or he needed to stay hidden. "never let your enemy have an advantage over you, if you can help it" He thought to himself. After he had looked it over, he visualized it in every way, every corridor almost becoming a real picture in his mind.
Slightly weary, he lay down, ready to cleanse any signs of stress at all that could possibly betray him in the hours to go with sleep.

Jason too layed down to sleep.

With what plans he had...very few, truth be told...as he wasn't sure whether he'd have a total of seven men or five...he went over carefully, before thinking what else he'd need.
Demolitions...
Scout...
2I/C...
And all this in a few hours.

Aldaris had finished his meditation, and now he needed to talk, seeing as Iliyakim was the only one left awake other than himself, the best bet was to talk to him.
Aldaris made his approach obvious, so as to not surprise the Drow, before he addrssed him, "So, I see that I am not the only one who needs less sleep than others..."

"Four hours a night is reccommended, but I can run well enough on two."
He guestured for Aldaris to sit. "What do you make of this?"

He guestured for Aldaris to sit. "What do you make of this?"
Aldaris sunk to the gound without a sound, "I assume you mean our mission? It will be interesting, in the ancient Chinese sense of the word... Danger and opportunity mixed..."
Kaymiril

"And it will be necessary in the ancient Drow sense of the word...having purpose, as well as bloodshed."
He continued looking intently at the holographic display of the ship.
"I want you to be the 2 I/C for this mission. Tylas is good at taking orders, but I don't know how he'd be about giving them...and after Fen and Jason's little fiasco..."
He didn't mention the departed Zarbus and Trafa, or the Romans that had left.

"I'm glad that you would trust me this much," he forebore to comment on the Drows own historic refernence, mostly because he had no reason too... "Since you picked me as 2I/C I have a few questions about who's going to be doing what, and the equipment we will be taking with us."

"We'll split into groups...your group will prep the ship to explode while mine locates and liberates the hostages. If you finish before we do, your mission objectives then become the same as ours. As to equipment...some explosives, some ammo, and some projectile weapons, as well as other equpiment humans consider standard."

"Who will be in my group, and what form of projectile weapons will we be using? I'm not very good with most of them, the humans aptly termed "spray and pray" seems to be about all I can really do, though that seems contraindicated for this occasion..."

"Well, at least I get Ithnuul, and I guess a blade will do well enough if they can't see me coming... I guess that's all I'll need to know, except for one more question, when do we leave?"

"Not long now. I'm going to get some sleep. You should as well...best to be prepared for any possibility."

"Alright." Aldaris stood up and headed off to find somewhere to sleep.
