Commisnar Austin pulled his bloody powerfist out the the remains of what once had been a Chaos Space Marine, he turned back to his men, the last survivors of his regiment that sat upon a low wall that led into the war torn city.

"We move out." His voice was lower and fearsome, a voice that you wouldn't disobay unless you where of equally strong will or had had enough of war. And these men had, for 3 years since there homeworld had been taken by the Despoilor they had forght and watched there regiment shrink and there freinds die.

Now the entire regemnt consitered of 6 men and 1 officer. "No." dClarkson spoke up, putting the rest of the mens thoughts into words. "We ain't going any further, we've forght and killed for you, sir, but we've had enough."

Austin stared at the man, whos rifle was slung over his back, "Are you disobaying a direct order, Clarkson?" He asked, his voice sounded resonable.

The amn stood, "Where going south, sir, where going to find a enermy patrol adn surrender, they treat us nice these Tau, thats what i heard anyway. And they treat us a darn sight nicer than the the Imperial Guard, sir."

The Commisinar took a step forward, his face was hardened, "Are you commiting mutany, Clarkson?" his voice spat out pure hate,

"You can come with us if you like, sir." Clarkson soudned uneasy and he was backing off, "After all what point is there in still fighting, we all know that the army has left this world, where the only ones left and we can't beat an entire enermy army by outselves, sir, why should we keep fighting?"

Austins reply was short, "The emporer."

"he hasn't done anything for me latley, has he, sir, he hasn't helped us out, maybe these Tau gods are better, with respect sir." Austins anger was boiling, he lunged forward with the powersword, yelling "TRATOR!" and the blade went sraight through the mans belly and came out the other side.

He pulled the bloody sword back and watched the mans body fall, "We march north." He said and turned. he marched towards the city and the men followed him, leaving there comrads body where it fell.

"There will be other regerments here lads, other groups of Guard, maybe even a few marines. We fight to the last, alds, to the goddam last

This is a closed one sorry, invitation only kinda thing (unless u HAVE been invited - in which case carry on). Oh, adn good on u for being against the imperium!

IC: The Broodlord gave a short hiss. He could smell men. Creeping forward slightly he led his brood to the ruins of a building. Perring around he saw a dead Marine on the floor. The genestealers recognised the wounds of the of an imperial sword. If they were free-thinking, they might have found this odd, but following Hive-Mind orders, they slunk into the shadows, slowly following the man-trails leading North...

A small portal opened in the air a a few miles* away. Out of it stepped a Sorcerer and after him a Chaos Space Marine armed with a powerfist and an axe, one with a flamer, one with a bolter covered with spikes and unholy symbols, and a mutated Marine who had had his arms replaced with large claws. Their red armour matched the sun as it set behind them. Their helmets were marked with their names written in the blood of their foes, Azrael, Ariel, Ammon and Thrice-cursed, and on the staff of the Sorcerer was the name Alazar with arcane runes.

Where are we? spoke one of the marines.
I don't know. The Sorcerer hissed We made a blind jump in the Warp, my only concern so far is to know if we loosed our... company. It looks, though, as we didn't succeed. he said, pointing at the corpses of Chaos and Imperial Guards that covered the ground, the remains of a battle fought not long ago. Where there is battle, Khorne was present. It seems as we must fight once again.

They moved westwards towards the mountains. There they hoped to hide from the eyes of the Chaos Gods.

OOC: *Slaps RL* A mile is approx 1.7 miles, dumbass. Whats with this 'European mile' BS?

IC: Chaplin Hanst looked around at the sheer devestation that Chaos had wrecked on this world. In his massive left hand was a bolt pistol, ornatley carved with many symbols of the Emperor, the Imperial Eagle, and above all the symbol of the Black Angels. In his right, a crozius, a mighty power weapon gifted only to those who led the chapters of the Adeptus Astartes in spirit, crackled softly. His amour was lighter than normal, and he welcomed the additional mobility it provided. Scout armour, though weaker than his normal power armour, was able to provide him with more rapid movement.

He brought up his left hand, and signalled quickly. A second passed, and then four Scouts, handpicked from the First Company Veterens, emerged from what little remained of the thick woodland. One carried a sniper rifle, the sight-cap flipped up. Another carried a heavy bolter, whilst the others carried bolt pistols and chainswords. Sergeant Verion apporached his commander,"Brother-Chaplin, what do we do?"

H -- We were deployed to achieve a single objective: eliminate the Chaos leader, by any means. That mission is still viable

V -- Brother-Chaplin, look around you. We have lost thirty men, good men. Without them, this mission is a suicide mission

H -- *Rounding on Verion*Then we will die serving the Emperor. Is that not what we are to do with our lives?

V -- Yes, Brother-Chaplin. May I suggest that we take time to survey the new situation?

H -- An excellent recommendation, Brother-Sergeant. There is a city, or at least there was, five kilometres east of here. We move for that

V -- Roger that, Brother-Chaplin

The entire squad had heard the exchange. They were Veterens, among the longest lived and the most expierenced warriors of the Chapter. Hanst had lived through more horrors than most, including the devastation of the 2nd Company. A mere handful, barely thirty Marines still remained, including Captain Templar. They moved towards the city, praying ferventley to the Emperor that some allies had survived...

A radio voice came over the intercom, into the deployment bay of the Manta Missile Destroyer. "Commander O'Shovah, prepare to drop onto the planet. For the Greater Good!" said the Air Caste pilor on the other end of the intercom. Commander O'Shovah, second to bear that prestigious and yet now cursed name, beckoned to the six battlesuited Fire Caste veterans arrayed behind him. They were all bonded by the Ta'lissera ritual, and thus knew what he was going to say. "Brothers in arms, today we go to fight for the Tau people, in pursuit of a quest of which you all know. If we are successful, the universe is for the taking for our people! Now, for the Greater Good!" The floor of the bay slid back, and O'Shovah jumped, his jetpack immediately taking action, and he coasted slowly to the ground, with the remainder of his team behind him. He hovered within a couple meters of the ground, surveying the land around him. It was a barren wasteland, with the corpses of humans littered about. He beckoned to his men, and they coasted along through the battlefield. He said over the intercam, "Men, as you know from our briefing, there is a city many kilometers to the north. We will head in that direction, and see if ywe can encounter any others. Hopefully, they are not looking for the same thing as us. Move out." They battlesuits, the sun glistening off their white paint, flew north.

The Landing

The Orca transport dropped through the atmosphere, firction heating the outside to unimaginable temperatures. It's pilot directed it to the north of the city that had been spotted. Dropping towards the surface, he slowed, he did not intend to land. His passangers dropped from the Orca, using controlled bursts with their jet packs. One, instead of using a jet pack, went down in the specialised cargo pod with the supplies and equipment. With ease, the skilled warriors of the fire caste landed. The Tau kill team had come.

On the Surface

The three crisis suits surveyed the surroundings, their enhanced vision taking in the dead Gue'la (humans) and the city, almost ruins, about a kilometre to the south. Ten metres away they could see the shimmer where the stealth suit was hidden. The pathfinder, young and inexperienced compared to his compainions, but already recognised by the Ethereals as a skilled warrior, used his sensor to get a detailed picture of the terrain.

The party of Tau had one mission. They had heard that the rebel commander turned mercenary O'Shovah was on this barren planet. He would meet his death. A shame he turned from the Greater Good to fighting for reward, he was a skilled general.

O'Or'es was wondering how to assassinate the tactical mastermind. Armed with a fusion blaster and plasma rifle, he could take out even the armoured might of the Imperial Terminators, and his shield generator would protect him, let alone the cybernetic components thgat riddled his body from his long career but O'Shovah's location wouldn't have leaked unless he wanted it to. He would know a kill team would be after him. In fact, he would probably want it.

The two bodyguards' (Vre'Mont'yr and Vre'Kais) crisis suits looked identical. Missile pod, plasma rifle and shield generator. Inside the suits sitting on each of their bald heads was a component replacing one eye, a multi trakcer, allowing them to track seperate targets with each weapon.

Looking up to the sky O'Or'es saw two disc shapes as two gun drones flew down, following their master. Speaking into the mike inside his helmet - "O'Shovah will probably move towards the city, find out what happened, we will be their waiting for him. Vre'J'karra (stealth suit) take front. Ui'Run (pathfinder) take rear. In the name of the Greater Good, move out."

The replies of "For the Greater Good" came back as one.

ooc: I'm from the England. Caladonn, why does O'Shovah still say "for the Greater Good" when he has turned mercenary?

Talion wandered through the forest, hopefully heading in the right direction. Suddenly, he saw it. Despite it being night-time, he could still see Paleneus lying there. This was his chance. He had to take it.
He slowly moved forward, out of the shadows, keeping his pistols out and pointed at Paleneus. Everything was completely silent. This was easy. All that training he had endured, and this was all he had to do. He was very close now, and could almost hear Paleneus' breathing. He was asleep. He lined up the pistols, aiming for his head.
"Why, hello there" Talion jumped. Who was that? "Maybe you should be quieter next time". He heard the click of a sniper rifle, but no ordinary sniper rifle. This was an exitus rifle. A vindicare assassin was aiming at his head.
"Don't get in my way, or I'll kill you too" Talion growled, "This is my mission, and I will carry it out" Despite all his talk, deep down he was worried. All assassins are very highly trained, and this man would probably have greater experience in battle.
"I doubt you would be able to" Talion was getting annoyed. He was taunting him. But that voice. It sounded so familiar, yet he couldn't work out who it was, "I know I wouldn't be able to kill my own brother"
Talion's breath caught in his throat. That voice. That's how he knew it. He was facing his brother. He began to lower his weapons. Many different emotions were running through his mind. It was his mission to kill this man, yet he couldn't do it. His brother obviously didn't want him to kill the man, and he couldn't do that to his brother. He turned round, and looked at his brother's face. A wave of recognition swept through him. It was his brother.
"Take of your helmet. Let me see your face" Talion took off his helmet, and they both just stood there for a moment, looking at one another.
"What...how...why" The words couldn't seem to come out
"Calm down," Haries, the vindicare assassin took his arm and led him to somewhere to sit down, "I'll tell you everything that happened"

And so they talked, telling of their training to become assassins, Haries joining the Night Stalkers, the great betrayal. When morning arrived, they had only just finished. Paleneus woke up, saw Talion, and immediately grabbed his plasma pistol. Talion saw this, and pulled out both his pistols. They sat like that for a moment, both pointing their weapons at each other, until Haries stood in the middle.
"Lower your weapons. We are all friends here" They did so, cautiously at first, and when they were down Haries began to explain who they both were.

"So what are you going to do then?" Paleneus was talking to Talion, "If you go back to the Imperium, there is no doubt you will not be welcome. If you go off on your own, the Imperium are sure to track you down in the end"
"I don't know," It was obvious that he was in a tough position, "What are you two doing? Where is the rest of your force?"
"Our force is with the Eldar, fighting some Imperium on another planet"
"Why aren't you with them?"
"Because we have our own business to attend to. They left a small ship for us to use. While that fighting goes on, we are attacking the Imperium from behind, destroying important strategic points. We are doing all the behind the scenes work which is causing victories for the Eldar"
There was a short silence.
"I know what you're thinking," This was Haries talking, "You are wondering if you can join up with us," Talion looked up, "Well, as long as you can look after yourself, welcome aboard!"

The small regerment moved slowly into the silent shadows of the city, as night fell upon the ruined buildings. Strange shadows rose and fell upon the there faces as they kept moving forward, the Commissinar would not allow them to rest.

Firest came Jackson, a steely eyed man whom was the companys crack shot, after that come the Commisinar and then McSon, Moorfoot, Arathorn, carl and then the baby of the company Richards, a stray that they had picked up on Amager 782.

They where in loose skermish formation, communicating by had signals only and as the night drew in the came closer. The Planets two suns began to set, one after enougher, it was starngly butiful.

The commisinar stepped over a rotting corpse into a shelled house, it was a small place, with bullet scarred place with 5 bodys lying in the room, under the rubble that remained of the ceirling.

"We rest here tonight." The commisinar ordered, and then made his way to a mostly clear corner of the room, he kicked and threw the last few peices of rubble away.

"Where sleeping here?" Ricjards asked, he was still new to the horrors of war and was scared by the bodys that lay.

"Unless you can find a better place, Private." the Commisinar answered, "You take first watch, Moorfoot, take second and Carl take forth. Keep alert, we don't know whats out there.

An ork kommando mob, the famed, among orks, redskull kommandos led by boss Snikrot, had managed to get onto the planet shortly before it's fall to chaos. Thier mission was two part, check the planet to see about the possiblity of a good fight and to find someway off planet.

Snikrot had just returned from slitting a chaos marine sentries throat, "Boss, what we doin on this mud ball."
"Ghazeskul told us to find the grotty parts of the enemy so he could let loose the wrath of Gork and Mork on the puny funny 'ummies. Let's move out."

Verion paused to look around, then signalled to his comrades. The Black Angels, heving trekked the best par tof the day, avoiding the remaining Chaos forces, had finally reached the city limits. Once, this city had stood proud. Now, the Marine Sergeant looked over the burning hulk before him.

"A terrible sight," said Hanst, coming up behind him. His voice was soft, yet authoritive. Revered in the Chapter, having fought his way out from a deadly Eldar cross-fire with only fifty men, against a force many times their size.

"Yes. Many people lost their lives to the Despoilers whim here"

"Yes. And they shall be avenged. The Champion will be defeated here."

"Is that not our mission?"

"Yes... but first, we must search for survivours. They may give us useful information"

With that, the squad began to pick their way through the ruins of this once proud city, stripped to it's bones. Steel, adamantium. That was all they saw

The small force of Chaos Space Marines looked northwards. They had climbed the mountains only to find patrol of other Chaos Marines iin the narrow roads and passes. But to the north a ruined city lied, already destroyed by the rampaging forces of Chaos. It was unlikely that they had left any scouts among the ruins as it was of little strategical importance.

Ammon zick-zacked across the street, dashing for cover and checking all the windows and doors. Once the street was cleared Ariel and Thrice-cursed cleared a skyskraper on the corner. It was empty except for a few corpses that was all that was left of the Imperial forces that had defended the area. They took shelter on the top floor, barricading all the windows and all the doors except one.

Ahead of the battlesuits, the city limits smoked, testimony to the brutal fight to the death between the Chaos and Imperial forces that occured here.
We must not allow this to happen once again to the Tau, as it did when the four castes were fighting prior to the arrival of the Ethereals, O'Shovah thought. Hopefully, what I bring back can round up my namesake and his followers in the Farsight Enclaves once and for all. The name O'Shovah will once again be celebrated, not despised.
He shook his head, returning to the task at hand. "Vre'Shi, scout the area around this skyscraper of the Gue'la, the rest of you, come with me to the top floor." He gunned his jetpack, and sped up with five others to the roof, entering through a hatchway. "Secure all exits, this will be our home until we can reconnoitre the area and identify possible allies. For the Greater Good." The Shas'vre replied, and quickly began their duties. Two unpacked the supplies they had brought for a protracted stay on the planet, two took up posts at the windows, surveying for danger with their plasma rifles, ready to shoot at anything or anyone that came too close. The last veteran, along with the one who had returned from scouting after finding nothing of interest, secured both the doors, making the top floor a virtually imregnable bastion of defense from which the Tau would make their next move.

Soo many long intro posts! I keep mine nice and simple lol (but just because I'm lazy). Yep, I'm from England. Anyway...

IC: The brood followed the tracks into the heart of what was the city, now, it was only ruins. The Broodlord stopped, sniffing the air. The men had stopped and were now resting somewhere in the city. It was dark, so they crept forward, hugging the shadows, until the saw someone walking, probably keeping guard over the rest of the genestealers' prey...

Oh yeah, Aust? Are your men imperial guard or marines? I'm guessing imperial guard cause they don't call each other brother! You've probably said but, like I said, I'm lazy!

OOC: British as well. I know Stuffing your face in real life.

IC: The trio were walking back to their ship. The Eldar and Night Stalkers had left not too long ago, but they had stayed for a little longer as this planet was mostly safe. They were on their way now.
"Those guns you have, do you mind if I take a look?" Paleneus was asking Talion. He gave them to him, "Wow, I've never seen anything like this. They are like normal bolt pistols, yet very different"
"That," Talion was pointing to a strange contraption on top of them, "Is a charger, you might say. When I hold that button down, the gun compresses air. The longer I hold it, the more air is compressed, but I can't fire while I do that. I can then shoot them, and that compressed air is fired along with the bullet. It can destroy almost anything if I hold it long enough. However, the longer I hold it, the greater the chance of it basically exploding when I shoot it. I never hold it down for long, and therefore it has never exploded when I've used it. When they were making them however, there was an unfortunate accident. Someone held down the button too long, and, well, you can guess what happened"
"Does anyone else use these?"
"Not that I know of. They weren't sure which temple to place me into, and then they made these weapons. They needed someone to try them out in the battlefield, and I was a new recruit with a certain skill with firearms. They trained me in combat, as well as shooting the pistols, and these became my weapon. I have done numerous missions, with success in all of them, and when they discovered you were still alive they sent me out. They knew my skill, and were sure that I would be able to beat you, and the vindicare assassin that stood by your side," He then gestured at his brother, "But I guess they didn't expect that".
They were silent for most of the journey from then on, with Paleneus asking the occassional question about the Imperium. They finally arrived at the ship, and set off to whereever they ended up.

He put the sniper rifle onto his shoulder and aimed carefully at the things head, then he squeezed the trigger and fell back as the rifles kick hit him like a mules kick.

The target was lost in the smoke, and a echoing bang echoed around room, waking the others, the Commisinar was on his feet immidetly. "What is it." He barked, pullling his plasma pistol from his belt.

"Enermy, sir, Alien." The rest of the men where on there feet now and there rifles where on there shoulders, they peered through the broken windows and the smoke towards the genesteelers.

"There's more than one sir." The crack of a sniper rifle was clear in the ears of the Black Angels. They dropped, each covering a seperate angle. Slowly, they realised the shots were not coming towards them.

Hanst stood, and looked around, his enhanced vision picking up some thermal images... las-fire among them,"I see them... must be the Guard"

"Should we not help them?"

"I think we must. Any Imperial solider is an ally in this place"

The Marines picked up their weapons, and began to move towards the fighting. Eventually, they came upon the scene. Tyranids and Guardsmen, the latter of which were fighting for their lives. Hanst motioned to his sniper, one Battle-Brother Gerogi, whose crack shooting had saved them from certain death many a time. He nodded in turn, and went into a steady crouch, his camoline cloak moving softly around him. After a brief moment, his rifle cracked, the round sent on a one-way trip to the Xenos heart... if it had one. The recoil was not a problem for the Marine, who quickly adjusted his aim, aiming for the largest creature...

ooc: OK. I will rp as a mistake has somehow been made in the Tau Empire and i have been led to believe that thed rebel O'Shovah is on this planet when infact he is not

ic: The kill team moved silently towards the city. It was ruined from the Chaos occupation. Now no more than a skeleton, it was dead. Wind could be heard in between those towering mountains of metal. Vre'J'karra stopped, listening intently. O'Or'es moved up towards him to see why he had suddenly stoped as still as if he was a stone. Then he heard it as well. Vre'J'karra confirmed his thoughts

"Gunfire, very faint, possibly Gue'la." He muttered, trying to avoid losing his concentration. "And something else. Bestial, not speech." He looked at his commander, they both had the same thoughts. There were not just Tau on this planet.

After a moments contemplation, O'Or;es gave Vre'J'karra his command. "We will remain here. Move towards the gunfire. Do not in any circumstance engage. Go for the Greater Good." His command was final, there could be no argument. Although O'Or'es was a skilled commander he was highly tempremental and unorthadox for a Tau. some said it was what made him great, others said it was something deeper. Nobody, not even O'Or'es knew the truth.

Ammon aimed his bolter through the window towards the street. A few hundred metres away there was a group of Genestealers, las-fire rained upon them and cut holes in their ranks. Suddenly, another crack was heard as a sniperrifle was fired.
Tyranid Genestealers, sir. They're attacked by Imperials. Ammon reported.
What kind of Imperials, Ammon?
I can't se sir, but the lasfire indicates that the Guardsmen are present.
Good, they're often not as zealous as the Adeptus Astartes. See if you can take some of the Tyranids out, but do not reaveal our position. the Sorcerer said quietly. IC: O'Shovah was awakened with dull booms in his ears. The tau on guard, Vre'Shi, was shaking the others to wakefulness. Soon they were all clustered around the buildings, gazing in the direction of the city center, where wisps of smoke quickly evaporated in the harsh glare from the twin suns. the dull thudding continued.
O'Shovah said, "That is gunfire that we are hearing, from the city center. A skirmish must be in progress between several rival factions. We must go and see what we can do. Come, time is of the essence. For the Greater Good!"

"For the Greater Good!" came the chorusd reply, as they sealed up the room and got moving, remaining low so as not to appear on the city horizon as they sped along above the streets of the ruined city. The shots came louder now. They landed, and moved behind intervening cover between them and the kill zone, however they were still a long-range plasma rifle shot away, which was probably why they hadn't been noticed so far.
O'Shovah looked over the barrel he was behind, and saw several Tyranid Genestealers being fired upon by Imperial troops and marines. In a split second decision, O'Shovah decided to aid the Imperials; after all, Tyranids were a known enemy to all sentient species.
"OPEN FIRE!" he shouted through the intercom, and four shas'vre and himself laid a whithering barrage on the genestealers from twin-linked plasma rifles. The expert shooting of the veterans, plus the power of the plasma rifles, was sure to do some hefty damage. The ship landed on a planet, a seemingly deserted planet. When they got off, their eyes met a horrific sight. Men and aliens lay sprawled across the ground, all obviously dead. Paleneus walked over to examine the scene.
"What happened here?" No reply. He turned round, and saw both Haries and Talion straining to hear. He kept quiet.
"I hear gunshots. Quite far away" It was Talion speaking.
"Yes, so do I"

As the firing died down, Hanst and his squad moved out of their building, giving the open area a wide berth, before coming up on the building that he had seen the Guardsmen retreat into. They crept softly along the rear wall, before entering through a breach in the steelcrete wall. Their boots mde no noise on the tiled floor, which was littered with Chaos and Guardsmen beyond belief. Occasionsally, they saw and took ammunition they could use, such as from an abandoned heavy bolter position. Scavenging, living off what they could find... The Black Angels had been designed for this.

Eventually, Verion held up his hand, making the others freeze where they were. Up ahead, they saw a figure, large for any human. Hanst called softly,"For the Emperor!"

Damn! Stay quiet everyone, they must not detect us.

As soon as the Adeptus astartes had entered the building where the Guardsmen were hiding the Chaos Marines left the building they had been hiding. The battle would attract Khorne, and they didn't want to be there when he appeared. They sneaked up along the street, hiding in the shadows and the alleys before dashing for cover, heading for the north-east corner of the town. The path they had chosen would take them right beside the building the Imperials had occupied but they had no choice but to continue.

Their was at least one Chaos warrior with a sniper rifle but he has left."

O'Or'es - "I need them alive and at least one captured. Ui'run, come over here. I need you to highlight targets with your markerlight while we take them out." Turning from the young Tau, O'Or'es beckoned his bodyguards and gun drones near. "We will jump down, aiming at the genestealers. Vre'J'karra will provide covering fire. Ui'run will highlight targets, and if necessary also provide covering fire. If it does not go well jump back up here." He ignored it, and swung his crozius to block the clumsy strike by the Chaos warrior. He offered a silent prayer to the Emperor, thanking him for allowing Hanst the vision to use Scout armour. It gave him the additional maneuvering capacity that power armour lacked, making him fast. And unburdened as he was simply made him faster still.

He crashed the crozius' blade into the axe handle of this traitor, whilst bringing his pistol to bear. The Black Angels had been designed to fight Chaos, and here they could fulfill their duty. All around him, the squad resumed their fire, Vorien throwing a frag grenade throught the open breach, whilst yelling at the Guardsmen,"FALL BACK!"

The powersword that fell two feet away from me when I were tied

Rafael surveyed the group before him. To the left was Dukov, a grin on his face at the motley crew he had brought in. There was Alvaro Nunez, former marine of the Raven Guard, discharged for being over zealous. He stood nearly 8 feet tall in his sleek, black power armour. He had a jet-pack, but its limited fuel meant it was rarely used. Large adamantium claws were attached to the back of his fists, which gripped bolt pistols.
To his left stood the Executioner, a former Adeptus Mechanicus enforcer. He was a good 7 feet in height, and was dressed in full black robes, his gruff, unshaven features hidden under his hood. He carried twin, curved power blades, stolen before he was chased from Mars. In his robes he carried all sorts of instruments and gadgets, which Rafael did not particularly wish to experience the uses of.
Next was Cesar Ramirez, another former Guard. Rafael did not know his past, but he knew he was loyal, and his deadly aim and razor-sharp sight made him very effective with the long-rifle he carried. He was dressed in light armour, with a camo-cloak draped around his shoulders, a killer's stare in his eyes.
Rafael smiled. He had the perfect combat group, minus one member, who would be found in time. He looked back out the window. The Marines did not seem to be co-operating with the Xenos too much. That was fortunate for them. He turned back to the group. "Check your weapons, we leave soon."

I would just like to point out that I have a three-man force, the smallest by far, so they would be rather proffesional. On top of this, there's the fact that the Night Stalkers as a chapter were designed to be a giant kill team. They wouldn't fight in a normal battle, but would fight with other armies, by launching attacks that consist of attack, retreat, attack, retreat, etc. They are the masters of stealth, and these three especially (Talion has a disadvantage however, as he has to have night vision built into his helmet, rather than Haries and Paleneus who have it naturally).

IC: "Damnit, they've seen us", Paleneus was whispering.
"Don't worry," Haries replied, "I can see them, on top of the building to the north. Despite these buildings being ruins, they still have very thick walls. Just step behind these, and I highly doubt they will be able to see us". They began to edge behind the building, so as not to arouse suspicion. Talion looked up.
"Its approaching sunrise. We will lose our disadvantage if we stay much longer"
"Right, let's get out of here," Paleneus ordered, "I'm sure we can find somewhere to stay hidden. See those bushes over there? Head in that direction, and by all means stay hidden". They began to move over to the bushes, completely silently, and never moving from behind the building. Paleneus thought he saw one move a little, but guessed it was just the wind. Ramirez turned to the Inquisitor as the party moved down another set of stairs. They were now on the first floor, and the sniper was looking out the window. "Inquisitor Rafael. The Tau are moving."
Rafael looked out the window. Sure enough the Tau were moving across the open street to where the Marines were holed up. Surely the Marines weren't actually going to communicate with the Xenos? Rafael returned to the group as the Tau halted in the street. "Brother Nunez, exit through the back door and make for the Black Angels held building. Keep out of sight of the Tau. When you make contact with the Marines, give them the following message." He handed a piece of paper to the Marine, who memorised it in seconds. Nunez then turned and with speed which belied his bulk ran down the stairs and out the back door.
Rafael looked next to the Executioner. "Go to the ground floor, Dukov will go with you. Keep out of sight and observe the Tau movement. Do not make contact unless forced to. Do not attack at all without my express permission." Dukov grunted in reply and moved on, the Executioner following him with a quick nod to the Inquisitor.
He returned to Ramirez at the window. "When I give the signal, fire one round close to the head of the Tau leader. You must not hit him, we avoid conflict until necessary. They need not have reason to hate us." Ramirez nodded and brought the rifle to his shoulder, searching for a target for his distraction shot.

Outside Nunez scanned the street, and deciding it was clear darted across it at high speed, his feet making no noise, an unnatural gift for a Space Marine, born of his time with the Raven Guard. He approached the rear of the Black Angels building, and called in the door. "This is Brother Nunez of the Raven Guard, assigned to the Holy Inquisition. I am coming in, do not fire." The kommando/mad dok began stripping the armour off the legs of 'ummie. Once the armour was removed, the ork began checking the legs. Once it was determained the damage and needed repairs the ork began operating. A few hours later, in which the ork had been busy hacking, sawing ,welding, grafting, and tightening, the CSM with shattered legs now had a set of cybork/bionik legs. V -- What is the problem, Brother-Chaplin?

H -- The problem, Brother-Sergeant, is that the Inquisition now have our hands tied. The Tau may know something we do not, something that may contribute to the success or failure of this mission. I have served the Emperor for nearly five hundred years, and never failed him. I shall not this time. Sometimes, you must cooperate with those you would rather destroy

V -- Your zeal is commendable, but allow me to remind you of the Inquisitors words: 'It shall be seen as heresy'. If we are deemed heretics, then the chapter will fall into disgrace. We are already under investigation for previous events

H -- Of that I am well aware. Still, the Tau surround us, and the Imperial Guard are of little use. Finally the Executioner glanced at Rafael, and leapt away into a shadow alleyway, dissapearing from the Inquisitor's keen sights. Rafael smiled, he had quite a team. He turned, his face set. "Well?"
"They are trying to meet up with the marines. The thing is, marines and Tau never tend to get along that well. We'll just have to wait and see". He turned to look in the direction of the building.
"How good is this device you planted? Does it whirl round going beep occasionally?"
"No, nothing like that. It is completely silent, but not all that small. If someone wandered too close to it, they would notice. I think the nids and orcs are our biggest worries for that, as the others are all too busy to notice something like that," He turned back to face them, "Anyway, they may just mistake it for some rubble. Rafael tracked the crude Ork/Marine through the streets. His torso was Chaos, yet his legs seemed to be rather Orkish in design, a strange combination. He watched the thing meet up with the other Chaos marines. He could sense the sorceror was close. Very close.

Nunez peered off the top of the building. Down below the Orks were flying a white flag. They were more stupid than Nunez ever imagined. Still, they must die. He sharpened the edges of his clawed fists, readying himself for the fight. He looked down, targeting the Ork waving the flag. With a growl, he leapt downwards...

Ramirez darted in the doorway, Dukov just behind him. The other groups were moving in the sewers below, they had to find an entrance to the system. Ramirez checked his targeter. "Keep moving."

He swung his claws upwards, making for the beast's throat.

And few Orks could dodge a Raven Guard Lightning Claw - a parry would have been nicer, but hey, I'm not one to criticise ;)

IC: Nunez cursed as the Ork somehow got under his blow. He must be losing his speed a bit. The Orks were scrambling through the ruins. Cowards. He turned to where the Chaos had engaged the Inquisitor, and boosted towards them, claws ready.

Rafael spun aside as the flames tore towards him. He felt the heat of the Promethium blast on his face, singeing skin and hair. He swore, that was too close. He slung Eviscerator onto his back, clutching his sword in both hands. He darted towards the flamer marine, carefully picking his way through the gunfire. Several of the bolter rounds whizzed past his head, one clipping Eviscerator on his back, the runic metal sending the bullet ricocheting down the street. Too close. He finally reached the Chaos Marine, and began to swing.

Ramirez watched the round impact with the Ork's skull, deflecting away into a wall. Damn metal heads. He would have to aim for the eyeball next time. He pulled back the lever on the rifle, ejecting the spent round, and replacing it with a fresh one in the chamber. He scoped around for his next target. The Orks were fleeing, so he turned to the Chaos marines. He picked out one with metal legs, and took aim at the knee joint. Hopefully it would bring him to the ground. He pulled the trigger.

Dukov ducked out of the building, careful to avoid Ramirez's firing. He looked for the sewer hole the gunfire was pouring from, and dived in. He landed beside a group of marines, quickly throwing his hands in the air to identify himself as friendly. "Nice to see you boys here. We could do with a hand."

The Executioner looked around calmly, spotting the Orks fleeing the fight. He was angry he had to join this fight, he was sure he had been tracking something in the forest. He waited for the Orks to pass, and leapt on the last one, dragging it into a deserted shop. It took him two punches to knock it out, the first nearly broke his fist when he punched a metal plate in its head. Now it was out, and he quickly and efficiently tied it to the wall with industrial chains. When it woke up it would find it hard to move. Dusting himself off, he exited the building.

"They have begun to fight. Luckily no-one has noticed my device, so I can still hear what is going on down there. It sounds like marines vs marines, most probably chaos vs marines. Vre'Shi realized he could finally contact O'Shovah, since he had been inside a lead-lined pipe which had blocked communications. He quickly opened up the intercomm, while dodging stray blasts and firing more than a few of his own. Hopefully, with his support, the Imperials could defeat the Foul Chaos. "Commander, I am out of the sewers, engaging Chaos forces with Imperials," he said.
"Good," O'Shovah replied. " I am coming to offer assistance, hopefully O'Or'es will catch up. Still no sign of his Pathfinder. I'll be there with the squad in a moment. For the Greater Good."
O'Shovah beckoned to the squad of battlesuits, and they flew out of a nearby hole, a little ways from the battlefield. OOC: Aust, I guess you shot at me. Well I'll just let you know what my guy's have in the way of armour. Yes, it is basically scout armour, but it is slightly stronger. Basically, it would give them 3+ armour saves, and they all have 4+ invulnerable saves from the dodge ability. Weapons now. Talion has two bolt pistols with a slightly better AP (improved by 1), and they have an ability where he can charge them up and unleash a blast of what is effectively compressed air, which along with the bullet can cause quite alot of damage. If he does that, he has to spend time charging it up, and when fired it acts like a plasma pistol in that on a 1 it would stop working/blow up. Its effect is that it basically knocks the enemy back, and the longer he charges it the stronger it is. The next is a vindicare assassin (Haries), and would probably be the best sniper there. His rifle is called an exitus rifle, which based on the old rules for vindicare assassins (I can't find the new ones) is a sniper rifle with AP2 or 1, can't remember which. He also has a bolt pistol (normal one) and a close combat weapon. Lastly is Paleneus, the Night Stalker chapter master. He is a good commander but also the master of stealth. He can take advantage of any cover, any shadows (he has nightvision), and can move completely silently, yet is also a good commander. He has a plasma pistol, and his sword which acts like a power fist but doesn't strike last in combat, and he can wield it with great skill. He isn't the best shooter, but if he gets into combat with you, you are generally screwed. :)

IC: Haries heard something wooshing towards them, but couldn't do anything to stop it. He heard a terrible cry as his brother was hit in the foot.
"What the hell?" Paleneus had a slightly slower reaction
"Quick, get out of here. Someone has taken a shot at us, and hit Talion in the foot. If we stay much longer we might not be so lucky"
Paleneus recovered from the shock, "Quick, there are some trees over there. We can get in there and hide for now. Hurry!"
The two of them got up and supported Talion to the trees. When they arrived, Haries immediately began to move away. Paleneus looked at him.
"What are you doing?"
"I'm going to get the bugger" With that he dissapeared into the shadows of the forest, obviously looking for the sniper and a vantage point to take him out. While he did that, Paleneus looked at the wound, applying basic first aid. He bandaged it to stop the bleeding, taking out the bullet as well, and just had to hope that Talion's body could do the rest.

He had a fair idea of what lurked in the woods, and he had no reason to engage it unnecessarily. The Tau were for the moment no longer a threat, having seen the battlesuit fire upon the Chaos. He picked up his rifle, called for Dukov, and left the building.

Rafael rolled as the staff came down towards his head. He was not quick enough however, and the staff caught him squarely between the shoulder blades. His under-cloak armour removed the danger of the blow, but not the force. He inwardly cursed as he felt his consciousness slipping, and tried to slip out of the daze. He swung wildly above his sholuder, his blade only cutting air. Cursing again, he looked around to see the Chaos marine stepping backwards, shouting to its men. He took the opportunity to scramble away down a side alley. He now knew his enemy, their next meeting would not end so well for the sorceror.

O'Shovah saw the plasma fire blast into one of the vile Chaos and a building, bringing it down for cover for the Chaos. He ordered his troops to fire at another building next to it, and it also crumbled, but now on top of the Chaos Marines. Hoping this would take care of a few of them, he took to the air, his squad with the reunited Vre'Shi behind him, and alighted on a building on the other side of the Chaos scum. Crawling to the edge, he and his troops laid down withering plasma fire on the rubble and the area around it, pinpointing the Chaos troops. Meanwhile, he contacted O'Or'es. "Commander, we are continuing to engage the Chaos. I saw a sniper bullet go past a little while ago, could have been Imperials or those assassins you were talking about. We are keeping both the area it came from and where it went under surveillance while bombarding the Chaos. Have you found your pathfinder?"

The pathfiner heard.. not a voice... but.. something evil in his head.

"We want what genestealers want... genes! But your race is not very... genetically interesting. You rely on technology. We need something that has special genetic material that allows it to dominate above other species. If your people find us some such creature, we may grant you your life."

He handed the pathfinder his com device. "You will tell your people what we want. Be warned, if you do anything to comprimise us you WILL pay dearly. We have also removed any tracking devices in your equipment, so that alternative is out of the window. You will have the equivilant of 10 human minutes. Do not let them talk, just talk yourself. Instruct them that they will have 2 days to find a suitable species. After that, we will kill you and find our own. After 2 days, they will contact you again and we will arange a meeting point. Now chose your words carefully..."

During the fierce battle that raged, Hanst and his men had been firing sporadically at any enemy foolish enough to come near them. The bolt casings lay on the floor around them, mingling with the dead bodies. Eventually though, Hanst signalled to Vorien, and they moved off towards the Guard,"Austin, I would suggest you try and avoid encounters. Getting killed is not going to let us achieve our mission"

Haries was sitting with his sniper rifle out, looking around. It was the perfect position. He was far away from any combat, yet he was close enough to see what was going on. There was a tiny crack which he had his sniper rifle through, and the rest was solid rock. It was some sort of bunker, but he didn't care who used it. It was hidden very well, so that as soon as a possible shot arrived, he would take it. It was just a matter of waiting...

Meanwhile, Talion was excercising his foot by wandering around the small clearing in the jungle. He was well hidden, and Paleneus was standing guard, so if anyone tried anything they would suddenly feel a nasty pain in their neck, and then would realise that they can't feel their neck as their head is a few feet away. Talion knew his foot wasn't too badly injured, but it would take time to heal fully. If the bandages were removed, a huge hole could be seen, so he had no intention of doing just that. It hurt greatly everytime he stepped, yet he knew he had to keep excercising it. If he just rested, then if a time came for combat he wouldn't be able to even walk. If he keeps excercising it, then he can get used to the pain, and it wont affect him anywhere near as much when in battle.
To take his mind off, he started to think about everything that had happened to him. In less than 24 hours, he had already deserted the Imperium totally. The advantage was that as far as they knew he was still out hunting down Paleneus. If he came back, he could easily put on a good enough show to convince them he was still with the Imperium, and then the Night Stalkers have their very own spy. He let his mind wander on this thought for a bit. He could turn off the automatic defences in the Imperial Fortress, and if the Night Stalkers and Eldar attack with a large enough force they could overwhelm the Imperium. They could kill the Emperor. All of this could be achieved very easily, and even if he blows his cover when turning off the defences, he could fight his way back to the other Night Stalkers. This seemed like a good idea, but first he had to worry about getting off this planet, but first getting his revenge on the sniper who did this to him.

All that was running through Paleneus' mind was "Who the hell fired that sniper rifle?" and "Why is Talion grinning so much? He's just been shot in his foot!".

Hanst couldn't help but admire the man's zeal, but inwardly he despaired for the man's blind faith. Faith in the Holy Emperor was a virtue, one to be encouraged, but not to be followed to such a degree that the person or persons was killed before they could achieve their mission.

This view was unique to the Black Angels. They feverently believed in the Emperor and his divine might, but at the same time where willing to accept that sometimes blind faith was not a good thing. Something that had earned them the wrath of the Inquistion, but as they had never performed heretical duties, nor ever backed-down to the Emperor's enemies, the Ordo Herticus had nothing on them

Rafael swung his sword round the corner, stopping just in front of the man's throat, breathing steadily.
Dukov placed his pistol at the man's forehead, not bothered about the sword at his throat. He looked at his enemy. Or his boss. The pair laughed and withdrew their weapons. Rafael greeted Ramirez as he jogged to the Inquisitor and Dukov. "Lets move."

ic: The pathfinder felt strained after his psychic trip. Tau were not psychic. Barely registering in the warp, they had not even comprehended psychic ability until contact with other races. There were freak tau with a more noticable psychic form, one tau in a millennia who could actually be possessed by a daemon. Often, they were.

One such Tau was O'Or'es. Although he was not aware of it, his mind long ago had been taken be a daemon. Although he could fight it, he heard whispers in his head, and developed intuition to the point he could almost see the future. He was ready for the pathfinder before he recieved the comm message. IC: The Executioner came out of the building, close behind the rest of the party. They were on the move towards the forest. He had told Rafael of the presence of something in the forest, now they were hunting it down. Ramirez was at a window near the top of the building, scoping out the area. The Executioner was last to reach the bunker, finding the others trying to force the main door. Rafael assumed it was clear, but something was clouding his psychic judgement. They would have to be cautious. Dukov looked up at the Inquisitor, his shoulder prepped against the metal entrance.

In the Executioner's mind the world seemed to stop. He knew what was going to happen, yet he stood helpless as the events passed in slow motion:

Rafael nodded. Dukov pulled back his shoulder, ramming it into the door. The locked snapped under the Guardsman's blow, and the door began to open. The Executioner's senses picked up the faint click that eminated from behind the door, and he tried to shout. "GET DOOOWWWN!!". Too late the look of recognition came over Dukov's face, as the booby-trap explosion ripped the door from its hinges, a cloud of flame and shrapnel catapulting the Guardsman twenty feet into the air. Ramirez was quicker, but not quick enough. A large ceramite block caught him in the midriff and hurled him into a tree, knocking him unconscious. Nunez threw himself in front of the Inquisitor, his marine armour protecting both from the brunt of the flames, but the blast concussed him, his bulk in turn knocking the Inquisitor out cold. Last to fall was the Executioner. He had tried to duck as the blast tore outwards, but he too was caught by flying rubble, which combined with the shockwave hurled him backwards. He slammed into the ground hard, and his world went black.

These will aid us greatly. But your people are foolish to think this is simply for food. If we wanted food, you would have died a long time ago! You will tell them to tell us their position. If they lie, you die. They will leave the ork where they are now and run away as fast as possible. If they are still there, you die and hopefully so will they. They will describe their position perfectly including all details. Then they have 10 human minutes to get out of the way. Someone will stay and guard you. If they here of failure, we will get our 'food' from you!"

Haries was still in the bunker, looking around through the small hole. There didn't seem to be anyone, but he knew he could wait as long as he needed to. It seemed very strange however that it was completely quiet down there. Earlier there had been a large battle, but now it was completely deserted. Suddenly he heard a noise. He span round. Nothing. He heard it again. Twigs snapping underfoot. Something was moving nearby. He kept hearing it. This person obviously wasn't trying to be stealthy, he thought to himself, which cuts out Paleneus and Talion. When he heard it again, there seemed to be multiple twigs snapping at the same time. He began to hear the rustle of armour as something ran. Space Marines maybe, or Chaos. Could even be Tau or Orcs. Whoever it was, he knew where they were heading, and he knew there were more than one. The sound was getting louder. They were getting closer. He had to act now.
He looked around the bunker. There was lots of ammo for guns he didn't own just sitting there. No use. Then he saw it. A way out. Some sort of trapdoor. He didn't have a clue where it went, but it was his only chance. He heaved it open, and started to climb down. He then realised something - they could very easily follow him. They might not know he was here, but then again they might. Maybe they were looking for him. He had to stop them.
But what did he have to use. Even with his skill, he was a marksman, and wasn't very good in close combat. He couldn't hold them off, and all they had to do was throw a grenade in here and he was gone. He looked around again, but still all he could see was unused ammo. On closer inspection, he noticed a bit of wire, probably used for general vehicle repair or something. Suddenly, it clicked into place. Why fight them, when he could just stop them following him. There was little doubt that they didn't know where this tunnel went either. He just had to make sure they couldn't get down there with him, and he would worry about the rest when he came to it.
He grabbed the ammo and began piling it behind the entrance to the bunker. He then took one of his grenades, and placed it on top of the ammo. He tied one end of the wire to the pin, and with the other end he tied it round the lock on the door. He made sure the countdown was minimal, and got ready to leave again. He then realised that if they noticed the wire as they opened the door, they would be able to disarm it, and would then know he was there if they didn't already. He couldn't let them check the door as they opened it, and realised the best way. He fired a few shots at the door hinges, not smashing them, but also not allowing them to open. Perfect. He then jumped down the trapdoor, locking it and shooting the hinges just to make sure, but with any luck some rubble would land on the door and they then wouldn't notice it.

He was running down the dark passageway when he heard the explosion. He smiled.

The Guard sniper groaned slightly as the Marine finally heaved the rock off him, but was soon on his feet, looking slightly dizzy but otherwise fine. Dukov was on his feet, surveying the remains of the bunker. He motioned to the others to go to him. The Executioner hauled himself to his feet and went over to join the rest of the group.
