From: John Stone, Requisition office
Dear sirs

It has come to the attention of the Illiorian Marines that they require a new Main Battle Tank and also a standard APC type vehicle. The Illiorian Special Forces also needs a new APC type vehicle. With that in mind, I decided to do some research, and I feel that AMI has the two products that fit the bill almost perfectly, the M20A1 Mackall Main Battle tank, and the UNISUV family of vehicles. As such, I would like to inquire what the price for the Exclusive Domestic Production Rights for the UNISUV family, The G28 Family of rifles and the newest version of the M20A1 Mackall would be.

Sincerely,

John Stone,
Undersecretary to the Undersecretary of the Secretary of Requisition.

F-28A "Black Eagle" Multirole Fighter

Overview

The development of the F-28 Black Eagle aircraft began with a requirement outlined by the Aequatian Republic Air Force concerning the vulnerabilities of the venerable F-1C Banshee and later F-1D Nyx strike fighters. While they performed well in air combat versus enemy aircraft, their designs left them vulnerable as they produced a signficant radar cross section compared to their modern counterparts elsewhere in the world. The design called for a fighter which combined the immense strike capabilities of the F-1C Banshee while at the same time have a considerably less prominent RCS.

Construction

Most of the fuselage and wing assemblies are constructed from a triangular design for strength with a Titanium-Lithium (Ti-Li) alloy The alloy was chosen for both its strength and light weight, for increased combat efficiency. The remainder of the aircraft's construction consists of an Aluminium-Lithium (Al-Li) alloy for econimical purposes, although this does not detract from the material's strength or durability, thus decreasing maintainance costs.

The aircraft itself is modelled to provide it with the least possible radar cross section (RCS) as well as the addition of radar absorbing materials on the exterior of the fighter, its diamond-style wings and wide fuselage allow for increased lift and also for an increased weapons load when required for strike missions while the internal bays can manage air superiority weapons while maintaining its stealth characteristics along with its canted rear vertical stabilizers. The canards seen on the F-1C Banshee were not chosen for this design as they increase the RCS and were subsequently eliminated from the design.

Combat Systems

AN/APG-100 Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) Radar offers a low-observable, active-aperture, electronically-scanned array that can track multiple targets in all weather conditions as well as act as the aircraft's navigation radar. The AN/APG-100 changes frequencies more than one thousand times per second to reduce the opportunities of being intercepted and jammed effectively. The radar can also focus its emissions to overload and enemy sensors, giving the fighter a limited electronic-attack capability.

The radar’s information is processed by two Aequatian Electronics Dynamics-built Integrated Processor Units (IPUs). Each IPU operates at twelve billion instructions per second and has five hundred megabytes of memory. Information can be gathered from the radar and other onboard and offboard systems, filtered by the IPU, and displayed with an easy interface, allowing for maximum operational awareness for the pilot. The system's software is composed of over two million lines of code, most of which concerns processing data from the radar. The APG-100 radar has a range of two hundred forty kilometres, planned upgrades will allow a range of four hundred kilometres or more in narrow beams.

Aequatian Aerospace Industries "Crystal Ball" Infrared Search and Tracking Suite (IRST) allows the aircraft to detect and move to engage targets at close range without detection thanksto the fighter's use of stealth technology for reducing its radar signature and without the use of the APG-100 system.

Aequatian Aerospace Industries (Division of A.M.I.) F-29 "Hurricane" Advanced Air Superiority Fighter

The F-29 Hurricane's airframe is derived from the F-2A Abbadon fighter, with extensive modifications made to the design, including the engine which is now fitted with a shaft-driven Lift Fan. Somewhat like a turboprop embedded into the fuselage, engine shaft power is diverted forward via a clutch-and-bevel gearbox to a vertically mounted, contra-rotating lift fan located forward of the main engine in the center of the aircraft. Bypass air from the cruise engine turbofan exhausts through a pair of roll-post nozzles in the wings on either side of the fuselage, while the lift fan balances the vectoring cruise nozzle at the tail.

In effect, the F-29 power plant acts as a flow multiplier, much as a turbofan achieves efficiencies by moving unburned air at a lower velocity, and getting the same effect as the Harrier's huge, but supersonically impractical main fan. Like lift engines, this added machinery is dead weight during flight, but increased lifting power increases takeoff payload by even more. The cool fan also reduces the harmful effects of hot, high-velocity air which can harm runway pavement or an aircraft carrier deck.

Combat Systems

Aequatian Aerospace Industries AN/APG-100 Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) Radar offers a low-observable, active-aperture, electronically-scanned array that can track multiple targets in all weather conditions as well as act as the aircraft's navigation radar.

The Tolvanic Ministry of Defense wishes to enquire as to the cost of acquiring production rights for the F-28 Black Eagle fighter. Also does production rights to the F-28 include all variants, as we are planning to acquire aircraft carriers and LHDs in the near future and will need aircraft to fill out their air wings.

Tolvan: Only the F-28C/D Variants are carrier capable, as their airframes and landing gear have been reinforced for the harsh landings and catapult launches from carriers.

The cost of domestic production rights for each variant would bee considerable, so we suggest that we produce the aircraft for your nation when necessary as a discounted amount.

In that case we will require 150 F-28A and 30 F-28Bs as an intial buy to field two fighter wings and a training wing. We will likely order addiitonal F-28C/Ds once our planned carrier force is brought online late next NS year.

We will wire the 1.12 billion Markes upon confirmation of our order.

We look forward to future dealings with your company as we continue to modernise our forces.

Overview

The improvement programme for the Spartan Mechanized Combat Vehicle comes after the reviews of combat operations in The World Soviet Party against the mercenary forces of the Griffincrest Corporation and the heavily armoured Stormtroopers of the nation of Undershi, where many of the systems already installed on the M4A2 Spartan were seen as ineffective. The improvements are set to increase the effectiveness of all systems aboard the Spartan MCV, nearly rendering it a completely new vehicle.

Armament Systems

The primary armament of the M4A3 Spartan mechanized combat vehicle is the turret-mounted, computer-controlled gyrostabilized 40mm M132 Automatic Cannon. The development of the 40mm M132 Automatic Cannon began as a replacement for the 35mm M125 Automatic Cannon which has been in service as the standard small caliber cannon since it replaced the original 25mm M242 Bushmaster cannon. The design requirements are different however for the M132 cannon compared to the older M125 since the latter was originally designed as an area suppression weapon for use against enemy infantry units and a later developed to use anti-armour rounds, the former will be designed from the outset as an accurate, anti-armour weapon with area suppression capability.

The M132 cannon is a recoil-operated, self-loading weapon with an electromagnetic assist which is capable of firing repetitive shots and short bursts of up to eight rounds (two clips of four rounds each), and has a cyclic rate of fire of 80 rounds per minute. Ammunition is fed in four-round clips with the empty shell cases being ejected forwards out of the weapon to avoid turret clutter. The weapon operates on a long-recoil system (much like the 30mm L21A1 RARDEN cannon) in which both the barrel and breech initially close together. To allow for spent ammunition casings to be ejected, the barrel recoil ceases while the breech continues to extract the spent cartridge case, which is then ejected forward out of the turret. The barrel then moves forward again, following after an interval by the breech which loads another round.

The cannon uses a smoothbore barrel, for the use of its primary armour-peircing discarding sabot tracer (APDS-T) ammunition, which also benefits from electromagnetic (EM) rails along its length to maintain a high velocity for the rounds being fired so as to produce the optimal striking velocity of 1,900m/s. The system is fully enclosed and the internal section of the weapon only protrudes a mere 50cm into the turret space. The gun is charged by a small, powered cocking/loading handle and no fumes can penetrate the turret. The cannon has a double feeder, allowing for two types of ammunition to be ready for firing which are preloaded with a clip of both M950 High-Explosive Airburst (HEAB) and M951 Armour-Piecring Discarding Sabot Tracer (APDS-T). The vehicle carries a total of 120 HEAB and 80 APDS-T rounds.

The primary ammunition type of the M132 cannon is the M951 armour-piercing discarding sabot tracer (APDS-T) round using a depleted Uranium kinetic-energy penetrator with a 13.5mm diameter and 108mm length. With the use of the electromagnetic rails along the barrel of the cannon, the round can achieve up to 1,850m/s upon striking a target, allowing for almost 400mm of penetration against Rolled Homogenous Armour equivalent.

Secondary ammunition for the weapon include the M950 high-explosive airburst (HEAB) which contains a proximity fuse which is set to the distance determined by the vehicle’s laser rangefinder. Although it can be used in its primary fashion, it may also be used as a standard HE-FRAG round, especially in urban terrain, where its proximity fuse can be set to delay detonation after the round has penetrated an obstacle such as a wall or building.

The vehicle has also been provided with a pair of M5 Launchers for the effective BGM-225 Goblin-series optically-guided anti-tank missiles. The launchers each hold a preloaded round while another eight are carried inside the vehicle for reloading through a door atop the passenger compartment. The missiles carried can consist of both the A and B variants, ammunition load outs for the weapons are chosen by the unit commander in the theatre of operations. Mounted coaxially to the M132 cannon is an 8.5mm MG68 light machinegun which is also stabilized, allowing for firing on the move, and carries a total of 1,000 rounds of ammunition with a 1:6 ratio of tracer/ball ammunition.

Fire Control Systems

The gunner is provided with improved sights with the use of the Thermal Observation and Gunnery Sight, Mark VII (THOGS VII) which is integrated with the WillTell, Mark V Fire Control System and a Discrimination Carbon Dioxide Laser Rangefinder. The THOGS VII uses a stabilized 12x Power Day Sight with optional thermal viewer suite and with positive target identification up to ranges of 10,000m. The commander also has a view through this main sight on a separate display at his/her station. There is also a backup 8x Power Day sight which can be used by the gunner should the primary sight become damaged.

The commander, in addition to his/her main sight viewer, has a monitor connected to the Commander's Independent Thermal Viewer with an attached Carbon Dioxide Laser Rangefinder for the commander to designate targets for the gunner and can enter them into the WillTell, Mark V Fire Control System's memory so that the gunner can quickly engage them with the main gun by selecting them from a list of targets provided on the gunner's monitor.

The WillTell, Mark V All-Digital Fire Control System is an improved version of the long legacy of computerized systems used in Aequatian tanks. It uses twin 128-bit Processors with an Aequatian Electronics Industries AEQ-MIL-9028D Databus and is fully integrated with other systems, including the Advanced Battlefield Information Control System (ABICS), Air Density Meter (ADM), Wind Direction and Speed Monitoring System (WDSMS), Main Gun Wear and Distortion Meter (MGWDM) and Thermal Observation and Gunnery Sight, Mark VII (THOGS VII) with Carbon Dioxide Laser Rangefinder.

Armour Protection

The M4A3 Spartan is provided with an armoured suite similar to that of the M20 Mackall series main battle tanks, although much lighter than the heavy composite armour, but no less robust. The outermost layer of armour consists of an Iron-Cobalt-Nickel alloy reinforced with Carbon, Chromium and Molybdenum to provide protection against small arms, shell fragments and splinters (this layer also helps to protect the underlying composites from unnecessary damage). A second layer consists of a Boron Nitride Composite Mesh which is designed to greatly disrupt both kinetic-energy and explosively-formed penetrators due to its low solid density and highly-efficient ballistic heat conduction, respectively. It also possesses an extremely high tensile strength, which is up to sixty times stronger than Rolled Homogenous Steel Armour. This layer is designed to provide the sloped armour of the tank protection from damage when struck by kinetic-energy penetrator (KEP) munitions and to ensure that the underlying composite layers are not comprimised.

The most protection, however, is provided by the layering of Boron Carbide ceramic composite which is encased within the same Iron-Cobalt-Nickel alloy reinforced with Carbon, Chromium and Molybdenum to provide structure. The alloy/ceramic composite provides a great amount of protection against shaped-charge anti-tank weapons such as infantry rockets like the M136 AT-4 and RPG-7. Along the inside is a Boron/High-Strength Polyethylene Synthetic Fibre Layer which protects interior personnel and vehicle systems from radiation and electromagnetic (EM) threats with a shielding rating up to 16 kRads of particle and electromagnetic radiation. It also provdes an Anti-Spall Protective Layer for interior crew and systems protection should a round be successful in penetrating the outer armoured layers.

The Aequatian F-28A Black Eagle was designed to fulfill the same roles as the F-22A Raptor, and as such, would be the most likely replacement for a similar, yet superior aircraft.

http://www.vokrugsveta.ru/img/upload/7610.jpg
LAW-75A with 75mm HEAT Warhead.

The LAW-75 is a lightweight, self-contained, anti-armor weapon. It consists of a free-flight, fin-stabilized, rocket-type cartridge packed in an expendable, one-piece, fiberglass-wrapped tube. The LAW-75 is man-portable and is fired from the right shoulder only. Since the LAW-75 is issued as a round of ammunition rather than as a weapon, the launcher is completely sealed.

The LAW-75 was designed for use against the improved armor of light armored vehicles. Although it is mainly used as an anti-armor weapon, it may be used with limited success against secondary targets such as gun emplacements, pillboxes, buildings, or light vehicles.

http://www.vokrugsveta.ru/img/upload/7608.jpg
M7A2/SMAW-90A armed with a 120mm Tandem-HEAT Warhead

The 90mm M7A2/SMAW-90 was designed as a vast improvement over the previous M7A1 launcher in that it now uses a muzzle-loaded canister containing the rocket/missile along with a number of improvements in the sighting system. The Launcher has had an extention made to the exhaust portion of the tube in order to direct the back blast of firing the weapon away from the infantryman. The Sight Unit for the M7A2 launcher incorporates an infrared (IR) thermal viewer with an effective detection range of upto 1,800m. It is also equipped with a Laser Designator/Rangefinder (LDRF) to be used for determining range to a target and with use of the guided munitions available to the weapon. The Sight Unit is manufactured as part of the launch tube and is equipped with the same pistol grip available on the M7A1 LAW for the weapon's electric trigger. The Power Unit is a Lithium Ion Battery which is connected to the Sight Unit and is carried by the soldier armed with the launcher. The M7A2 uses Sealed-Canister rounds containing the different munitions used, each marked for their respective type, and can be loaded onto the muzzle holder of the weapon and locked in place for firing. The muzzle-loaded feature was chosen since the weapon could now effectively be armedwith munitions containing warheads larger than the 90mm bore of the launcher tube.

The primary round, the SMAW-90A, uses a fire-and-forget pre-launch system that measures target speed and direction and is used in conjunction with known missile flight performance to predict where the target will be when the missile is in a position to intercept, The missile also uses an inertial guidance unit that sends the weapon over the predicted intercept point, compensating for crosswind and launcher motion (the launcher may be mounted on or fired from a vehicle). For direct attacks the missile acts as an unguided, flattened trajectory, line-of-sight weapon The warhead uses a 120mm warhead with a tandem Gold-Cobalt lined conical shaped-charge, which allows for a maximum penetration rating of up to 1,000mm of Rolled Homogenous Armour equivalent (approx. d/9 ratio). The weapon uses a soft-launch sequence to allow for firing from within interiors and has a minimum effective range of 25 metres and a maximum of 900m.

For anti-personnel capability, there is the SMAW-90B High-Explosive Airburst (HEAB) round with a 120mm warhead which is equipped with a programmable proximity fuse which can be set by the Sight Unit's LDRF, the round's proximity fuse is effective within ranges of 100-900m while the HEAD round can be used as a traditional HE-FRAG round up to a range of 800m. For urban combat, there is the SMAW-90C Thermobaric round with a 120mm warhead available with an effective range of 800m.

There are currently tests underway with the laser-guided SMAAW (FIM-230 "Talon") High-Velocity Missile (HVM) with a 90mm warhead equipped with six small kinetic-energy darts, each containing their own 35mm High-Explosive (HE) warheads, which are guided by the same LDRF on the Sight Unit as is the HVM itself. It is meant for use against low-level air threats such as helicopters, although it could be used against light armoured vehicles given that it has an effective range of 1,200m and can penetrate up to 400mm of Rolled Homogenous Armour equivalent.

The Realm is interested in aquiring domestic production rights for the LAW-75. However, before we commit ourselves to a purchase, we wish to know whether the weapon is a disposable weapon similar to the M72 LAW or if it can be reused; the armor levels (RHAe) the various warheads can penetrate; how difficult it is to train an infantryman in the use of this weapon; and how it preforms in extreme conditions (arctic and desert).

In advance, thank you.

The World Soviet Party: Due to an order from the Aequatian Republic Department of Defence concerning current complications during Operation Cobalt Hammer in Eurasia, we currently cannot perform the sale of any materiel to your nation.

Cotland: The LAW-75 was designed as a light, disposable weapon much like the M72 and M136 LAWs for infantry to use against harder targets.

The LAW-75A is the only anti-tank round currently available for the weapon and is capable of penetrating up to 650mm of RHAe.

For training, the procedures are fairly simple and allow for ease of training, this is aided by the use of a 35mm tracer rocket as well.

As for environment types, the weapon was evaluated extensively in a number of terrain types throughout Aequatio, including Marine Corps Base Camp Fowler in the jungles of Aequatius Secundus, Dark Basin Proving Grounds in the Western Desert in Aequatius Prime and the tundra in the North around Vanaheim, Aequatius Secundus.

Aequatian Military Industries FIM-260A "Talon" High Velocity Missile

The Talon HVM was designed as an increased-capability Starstreak HVM for use as a close air defence missile system. The weapon functions on the same guidance system relying on direct-contact laser-guidance and the use of kinetic submunitions for the kill. The differences made in the Talon HVM is the increase of kinetic submunitions from the Starstreak's three to six, increasing hit probability up to 150%. A new rocket motor in the weapon also allows for a higher speed of up to Mach 4 to a range of 5,000 metres.

The missile can be fired from the SCADS-120 MANPADS Launcher, LW-CLU-300 Triple Launcher or VALB-150 Launch Unit.

Aequatian Military Industries FIM-270A "Aquila" Short-range Surface-to-Air Missile (SSAM)

The Aquila SSAM was designed as a complimentary weapon to the Talon HVM. Based off the seeker from the RIM-116 Rolling Airframe Missile (and alternatively, the FIM-92A Stinger SAM), the weapon used an improved, triple redundant Infrared signature seeker with an additional terminal inertial guidance system, to defeat traditional countermeasures systems, once the weapon closes range with the target. The Aquila SSAM uses a High-Explosive, Blast-Fragmentation warhead with an effective range of out to 10 metres and at an angle of 60 degrees. The missiles rocket motor allows for a speed of up to Mach 2 to a range of 8,000 metres.

The missile can be fired from the SCADS-120 MANPADS Launcher, LW-CLU-300 Triple Launcher or VALB-150 Launch Unit.

Aequatian Military Industries MIM-132H "Apollo" Surface-Launched, Advanced Short-Range Surface-to-Air Missile (SL-ASRSAM)

The Apollo SL-ASRSAM is derived from the Aequatian Republic Air Force successful Apollo ASRAAM missile used on all of its fighter aircraft. Known best for its quick air-to-air maneuverability and comparitively long-range, it was chosed by the Army and Marine Corps for a medium-range surface-to-air missile. Used in conjunction with the M130 Mobile Launch Unit, the weapon uses its internal quadrary redundant Infrared seeker head to acquire its target and an internal inertial guidance system to home the weapon on its target once it closes to an effective kill range. The weapon uses a different warhead than its Air Force counterpart, in place of the standard High-Explosive head, it uses a much more effective Blast-Fragmentation warhead with an effective kill zone of out to 30 metres at an angle of 60 degrees. The weapon has a speed of Mach 3 and an effective range of up to 20,000 metres.

The M130 MCLU is mounted on a trailer which can be pulled by a number of lightweight vehicles, including the M1250 Cougar-series HMMWVs, M1272 Rhino IMV, and M38 2.5-ton transport truck. The MCLU can also be mounted to the chassis of the UNISUV-2 series vehicles or the M541 Oxen Armoured Support Vehicle to create the Armoured Apollo.

M130 Mobile Command Launch Unit (MCLU)

Loads: 6x MIM-132H "Apollo" Surface-Launched, Advanced Short-Range Surface-to-Air Missile (SL-ASRSAM)

Aequatian Military Industries MIM-120K "Starbuck" Surface-Launched, Advanced Extended-Range Surface-to-Air Missile (SL-AERSAM)

The Starbuck SL-AERSAM weapon, like the Apollo SL-ASRSAM, is derived from another Aequatian Republic Air Force weapon for use on a mobile launch unit in conjuction with the AN-TPS-60 Mobile Radar Suite. The weapon uses a fire-and-forget radar guidance system directed by the AN-TPS-60 suite, once a target has been chosen by the MRS fire control computers and transmitted to the missile crews at the launch unit, the weapon is fired and will track the target using an internal, triple redundant LIDAR and self-contained inertial guidance suites to ensure an effective kill is made against the target. The weapon has an effecitve range of up to 120 kilometres when connected to the Battlefield Multistatic Radar Network (BATMURNET), although it usual engagement range is between 20 - 60 kilometres with the use of the AN-TPS-60 MRS. The warhead used is a proximity High-Explosive, Blast-Fragmentation warhead, effective at up to 75 metres at an angle of 60 degrees.

The M165 MLU is mounted on a trailer and is reloaded with the assistance of an external powered loading arm, the trailer ca be pulled by either the M38 2.5-ton or M939A5 5-ton transport trucks or the UNISUV-2 series vehicles. The MLU can also be mounted on the chassis of the M541 Oxen Armoured Support Vehicle, creating the Armoured Starbuck.

AN-TPS-60 Mobile Radar Suite (MRS)

The AN-TPS-60 is a tactical radar set to X band frequencies for use with the MIM-120K Starbuck surface-to-air missile. It has an effective range of up to 60 kilometres and a ceiling of 40,000 metres. It uses a phased array setup, allowing for real-time tracking of up to 128 target simultaniously. With the "SkyReaper" Fire Control Suite, it can allocate targets to individual missiles on weapons mounts and direct crews to fire, the automation afforded by the system's computer processors allow for an effective reduction in detect-track-target-kill (DTTK) time.

It is housed in a mobile trailer unit, complete with the computer processors and independent power unit, and can be pulled by an M38 2.5-ton transport truck or UNISUV-2 series vehicles. The complete unit can also be mounted on the chassis of the M541 Oxen as the AN-TPS-60 Mechanized Radar Suite.

Warheads effective range is MUCH MUCH too long for this size of missiles, heck, you've got a better effective radius then the SA-1 and SA-2 yet getting several times the range on the Starbuck, I suggest cutting the effective radius down to 75m for the starbuck, 30m or less for the Apollo and down to less then 10m for the Aquila.

Ustia: The MG66A2 and MG68E1 changes were done as a decrease in weapon weight as well as a change over to a less-expensive Copper-Jacketted round for 6.5mm.

Other than that, there's no real difference versus the MG66A1 and MG68.

Cravan: Your order is confirmed, we thank you again for your continued choice of our products.

OOC: Yeah, the retcon is fine, the change was a little hard to notice since the rounds are similar in size. Consider it done.

http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c381/crave22/Cravan/M2Family.png

Looks like it gained some weight compared to the original, and I just realised how badly I need to edit that bipod on the DMR and move it forward, but overall I kinda like how it came out. I need to practice that whole shading thing, though. And I also need to touch up some of the lines.

Due to concerns about the unsuitability of the Lancer MBT in Tolvanic doctrine and likely operational situaitons we wish to acquire the production rightsto the Dragon MBT. However, we request the right to implement our own series of upgrades to bring the vehicles more in line with Tolvanic doctrine. These modified vehicles will be designated as the M25 Hellhound and will not be sold or transferred from Tolvanic hands without your approval.
