One thread or two - doesn't matter to me, I'm fascinated by what every one is doing - thats why I'm over here going "Post! post dang it! post!"
LOL -and if you are tired of being boring and nonconfrontational - start a brawl an see how fast things deteriorate.
Well I suggested group fights, but nobody seemed to like that idea...
Well then, let's just say I have something *interesting* in mind, though as always, the level to which one's characters participate is up to the player. In any case, the Festival is scheduled to begin at sunset, which is around eight in the evening. Whether the *interesting* bit will happen then, several hours later, or on a different day entirely depends greatly on the RP between now and those time points.
Well I suggested group fights, but nobody seemed to like that idea...
You may yet get your wish.

You may yet get your wish.
For some reason the way you say that frightens me... well, here's Roger!!!

See my most recent post for a good example of "How to write an introductory post without actually introducing anyone or anything, but using such pretty language that you become convinced that I have introduced my characters." it'll be fun... you know you want to... everybodys doing it...
For some reason the way you say that frightens me... well, here's Roger!!!
Maybe it's because I have a tendency to grant wishes to the exact letter of the request? :D

That might be it, but I'm not sure, I don't think my wish is very corruptable, sign-up group fights aren't all that corruptable, you know? I'm more worried about your surprise and the fact that you're going to grant my wish in a manner that seems fitting to you.
Ah. I see the problem. Who said anything about signing up? :p
Don't worry, though. I have a strict policy of not interfering with other players' characters without permission - or at least keeping my interference to a "discomfort" level rather than a "lethal" level.

Oh, hell go for lethal, it'll be fun to see what The Posse can do under these conditions and without powered armor(except for Erkum and Krindi) to back them up.

Well shit, I'm afraid I'll have to do something about your Raijins plans, if only I can discover what they are... Well, it looks as though Tomcat's gonna come in handy.

Hey, Krioval, where are they during this conversation, Raijins quarters is what I'm thinking but I wasn't sure I should post until I got some verification on the subject.
Edit: Also, I'd appreciate it if anybody'd go take a look at my Protoss inspired weaponry for my slivers in this thread: http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=423545 Any comments and criticisms are appreciated.

Put most politely, somewhere your people can't get to. Security being what it is, access to the Commander of Krioval is not a trivial thing. Teleports to that entire level of Krioval are automatically blocked unless one has explicit permission, and even then, only someone Director-level or above can direct teleport (alone, BTW) to all but a handful of heavily-guarded sites on that level.
Killing Raijin is also entirely out of the question, as is injuring him in any way, at least at present. It simply cannot be done. The same is true for any main Kriovalian character unless I let one know otherwise.
EDIT: Also, it's not as if his little "conspiracy" (of all of two people) is common knowledge, and maybe two or three people other than Koro know that Raijin's been acting strangely at all. Thus, it stands to reason that what they're planning is entirely secret IC to everybody except Raijin and Koro. This may or may not change depending on who picks up on which clues I start dropping.

Stepping out of lurkerdom, as it seems the game is still open.
Lady Shalamar Thorskald, Lady of Cats Keep, last remaining Deadly Sin of Cats Keep, Leronis, Minor Magus, and her familiar, Smug, her mind bond, MBC.
Absolutely! You've come right when I'm about to throw a wrench in the whole thing - for the purpose of keeping the story interesting, that is. :D

Oh, please, throw away. I'm here to observe, pick up the pieces should it become necessary, cause trouble should it be required, be foil, listening ear, side kick, and boot to the head if need be
I'll admit that I do not do snide with anywhere the finesse of DA, and I certainly can't match Tanara for drama. I refuse to be comic relief.
I typically do my own "comic relief" - usually at completely inappropriate times and in ways that are IC maddening. But don't worry. There should be plenty of both pieces to pick up and trouble. I'm considering (maybe by the beginning of the week) ditching the rest of the tournament beyond naming a winner and having a quick "prize giveaway". Then can come the good stuff.
I'm glad you found this interesting enough to join, late as it is.

The people who would be doing the snooping for me are professional bodyguards and paranoiacs, they'd keep an eye on Raijin just because he's a military commander in a nation they're visiting without an insanely large bodyguard(about a full battalion of Imperial Marines). But if my guys can't get there I guess my post isn't gonna get posted.
LOL - he's not just the military commander, he's The Commander - ruler of the entire nation, not just it's military.
And ya know if some one really wants ya dead even an entire battalion isn't going to keep you alive - and Roger should know that -
and the lady next row back from Raijin and Koro is an Empress, and is here with two bodyguards. ( Raijin and Koro are back at the arena now )
and one of them I'd put up against Roger any day.

Roger Ramius Sergei Alexander Chiang MacClintock versus one bodyguard, hah, this guy is fast, he carries a katana-like weapon made of damascene steel, or a boma-blade of monomolecular iron, he fought his way across half a world, in the front lines, against the Kranolta, the Boman, various and sundry hostile flora and fauna, including, but not limited to, Atul, Atul-Grack, Pagathar(aka Flar-ke), fish of unusual size, "The Mohinga", Killer-pillars, and vampiric moths, then after getting halfway around the planet he had to fight through the stronghold of the cannibilistic Krath, then hold off a swarm of them in an ancient fortress in the Shin Vales, then capture a starport, then capture what they thought was a tramp freighter, but was really a hostile spec-ops insertion ship, then overthrow a usurper holed up in the most heavily defended patch of dirt on earth with approximately three hundred barbarians, and 5 marines, no bodyguard would be able to touch Roger, much less beat him.
Just to clear up:
Raijin Dekker is the Commander of Krioval. Currently, he enjoys temporary emergency powers over the entire country by virtue of the Festival. He also is among the world's strongest telekinetics, he's a good telepath (though nobody other than Valkai the Elder knows/knew that - not even Kiv), he has supreme control over metabolic functions, and he can manipulate local conditions of nature (he likes to shoot lightning bolts). He's also got an AI pretty much assigned to assess security threats and neutralize them before they manifest. In short, Raijin is just about invulnerable in Krioval and damn tough to get at just about anywhere else. If this were a video game, Raijin would be the optional superboss - resists or voids just about any attacks thrown his way. Koro's not quite as strong, but he has the same powers, less the lightning bolts.
Besides, the man's been planning this for (it will be revealed) about twenty years - he's not leaving the final few hours to chance, especially now that he's convinced himself and Koro of the necessity to do...what will come.
Finally, it's important that one communicates on one's desires in this RP, which people are doing (yay!). This way, we're all on the same page, so to speak. The exception will be when "the event" occurs - Raijin will be somewhat preoccupied, so it falls to Koro to null any attacks. Thing is, though, most people think they're at a festival, not an apocalypse. There aren't going to be any firefights beforehand.
See? It's already like my very own video game! People have special items. The following is Raijin's map ("beautifully" hand drawn and "benevolvently" left untranslated from the original Kriovalian):
http://img14.imgspot.com/u/05/154/04/Kriovalmap.gif
If it's completely unreadable, let me know, and I'll retouch it where I can. It's meant to be difficult, though. And each of the symbols stands for a particular sound. Michiko gets one because Raijin feels guilty. If others want one, they might consider browsing a bookstore's occult section (Michiko might find something interesting there as well).
If you enlarge it by about 10-15 percent it would be better.
I know what Roger has been through - I have read the books and both of the authors are on my favorites lists - which mean that I reread them all the time.
And Perigrine Omega out of Tomoe by Hannibal, Omega clan of the Karasu Pride is no ordinary bodyguard. She is a Nietzschean ( homo spaiens invictus) -is by design and breeding ( the Nietz are a created race ) some several thousand years of breeding - the pinnacle of the genome, an apex predator.
Nietzscheans have far faster reflexes than humans, and are much stronger than homo sapiens sapiens - whom they are genetically engineered from. All genetic weaknesses have been removed and the genome take to the limits,( and in some seldom spoken of cases beyond ) Their senses are far superior to those of humans. They are immune to most poisons and all diseases. They can breath cholorine gas, and even endure the rigors of unshielded space for a time. They metabolize as far greater range of food stuffs than humans can and develope physically and mentally earlier than humans. A Nietzschean child is physically and mentally ready for school at 18 months of age. Their average life span is about 200 years.
She is 38 ish years old, the daughter of a clan that for 300 years has put its offspring though a course of training that only 1 in 30 survived. Perigrine survived and was not only the youngest ever to begin full training, and was the recognized leader of her generation, superior in skills to most of her teachers. Perigrine is a master of numerous of martial art styles, and a variety of weapons from swords to personal energy weapons. She bears a katana with her where ever she goes (either openly or concealed) and many small weapons from throwing stars to a variety of small arms, all tucked inconspiciously, or completely hidden, with in her robes.
Like I said she is no ordinary body guard, but she doesn't need to prove it.
Is that all of Kiroval, or just Torokara?
And dang it, I never took Kriovalian in school. :p
Rather Important Announcement:
I've split the Conception into its own thread (and made it semi-open contingent on posting to the OOC thread). Festival of Fighters will deal with anything on or before 6:00 PM on the 21st of June, and The Conception will deal with everything thereafter.
The Conception - IC thread (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=423761)
The Conception - OOC thread (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=423764)
[/announcement]
The map's of all Krioval, and each figure there represents a city. Since Michiko's been there a while, she's probably heard of some of them - certainly Torokara, Andretara, Valak, and Telekar. Ashera, Tevanor, and the Karo Tevas are places she might have seen referenced, but isn't really aware of their locations.
I'll try to remember to enlarge the map a bit, and I'll try to make a halfway decent "Conception Map" as well.
Looks at your title for the new thread and wonders just how....infer-encial that title is. (Yeah it a new word I just created, but hey, it works )
Huh? I'm confused. Did I do something wrong?
No, you haven't done a thing wrong. Just looked at the title and the thought flashed into mind - the roman catholic concept of the Immaculate Conception.
I hadn't looked at your explaination of things in the new ooc thread
Well, I'm not ashamed to admit I'm completely lost.
The head honchos in Krioval are going to be preforming somesort of ritual which will do something good, that at least is suppose, to in the long run.
thats as I understand it - this thread & FoF IC is good up until 6 'tonight' -
So, are are the Vastivans going to go do their thing in the arena? Whatching Gelt get pasted ought to be a hoot.
6:00 PM in terms of NS time - it's to separate the tournament from the preparation for the nearly apocalyptic event that comes that evening, and to allow other nations who haven't been reading this to respond to The Conception.
I'd still like to see the match between the Vastivans (and Gelt getting "pasted"). :D
If any of the Vastivans want to become involved in the aftereffects of the ritual, that could also be arranged (but elsewhere). I foresee that the topic split will happen on its own over the next few days.
And for Theao, I just want to point out that the short term effects will be definitely *other* than good.
I said the long term effects would be good, said nothing about the short term, and did you get my TG?
LOL as long as Outlanders can ignore things - though if polar bears show up Perigrine and others can always have a wild polare bear hunt -
Hey it's better than a wild snipe hunt.
I said the long term effects would be good, said nothing about the short term, and did you get my TG?
Yeah - and responded to it already. Don't tell me the main site actually ate a TG! Maybe I did forget. In any case, the answer is that as long as one has not been egregiously dishonorable, survival is possible, and if the person has been overwhelmingly honorable/virtuous, survival is all but assured. Naturally, the outcomes of "possible" and "all but assured" are up to the controlling player to determine.
I know it ate at least one I'd sent to someone, and my last TG from you is
Give me some examples. The Gods of Krioval are reasonably tolerant - but they really, really like honor
That means I'm missing your most recent TG. Also, there's a very nice (and lonely) OOC thread for issues dealing with the Conception, which should help with finishing out the tournament here. As the likely prize given to each winner is (what will eventually become) a Conception Map, there's still a definite reason to complete it.
On a side note, if Therassi brings home a map of the Kriovalian Conception to Vastiva, it'll be one of the rarest items in the Universe, as the Conception has never previously occurred.
Alright, I'll be finishing up the fight post and have it up later or tomorrow (food poisoning being what it is...).

Oh boy are we going to have fun. Honor being various things in various cultures.
(food poisoning being what it is...).
You too, huh. I got a (very, very mild) case of it last Wednesday, but managed to recover by Thursday morning. Sometimes I need to remind myself that eating sushi involves rolling the dice, even at the very nice place I was at last week.
Wasn't sushi or sashimi this time - rather, I'm having a very adverse reaction to something in Lime Coke. For the second time.
Somewhere up there, a god is laughing.
I'm sorry to hear that Vastiva. But, hey, it's always better to make your own lime coke. You get to use real lime juice not imitation flavoring.
and don't forget to add the splash of dark rum to make it a Cuba Libre.
I have a question. I'm curious as to why do many people keep calling my character by my nation's name, Megas, and not his name, Kolte?
