Hegbunnen replies - "I have little idea of their plans apart from that I was offered a position in Longhorn's government should he be succesful. It seems that they believe if they can bring us down that Longhorn will get into power"

Cairo looks rather amused at the information and says "Well perhaps we should begin an information campaign about Longhorn's true intentions. If he wants to seize power than he has no intention of becoming what he calls a democracy. Perhaps it is time for us to kill his support."

Hegbunnen asks the SSS agents "Do you believe that you can infiltrate the Elante Base and capture Ryker, I believe that he is Longhorn's 2nd in charge - we may be able to use him to our advantage"

"Yes it has been confirmed that Ryker is second in command and we already have an agent in the vicinity."Replied Frank.

Cairo asks "Do you think a co-ordinated attack on the compound would work? I am thinking of some sort of ground invasion to take it back. Would you prefer to just do an undercover operation"

Pausing for a moment to sip from his glass of beta bug juice he concludes as he angrily smashes his glass on the table "I want these bastards taken down. They will not overthrow me"

Frank replied:
"We need to destroy them crush them under the feet of or glorious troops"!!!

Cairo orders "I want this strike to be carried out as quickly as possible. Prepare the troops. There is to be no aircraft involvement as the rebels have quite a network of SAMs set up in the area donated by the commonwealth of DVL."

Mitchell Base
The message comes in for ground forces to prepare and head for Elante, the men are eager to "get their hands dirty" knowing this will be the biggest battle of the war thus far.

Some 150 Sheridans and 15000 soldiers make their way to Elante to take back the city. Their trip will take many many hours.

Frank coughed and said:

The 100000 soldiers stationed here where already on the movew to there target.

Cairo approves of Frank's suggestion to take out the SAMs in Elante City, even though there is a large number of troops already headed towards the city. As a fair few of them are on foot, the ETA at this stage is 5PM tomorrow afternoon. At that time they will bombard the Elante Base where the rebels have bunkered down.

Dunningvale Region
Schools and other public places all over the Dunningvale region are bustling with activity as the referrendum takes place in that region. A few police officers patrol around the polling locations, but no where near as many in the other cities, there seems to be little attention on the loyalists.

Mayor Rex Warph casts his vote first at Dunston Public School, upon leaving he is swamped with media, wishing to know how he cast his vote. He tells them "The voting is private, I need not tell you how I voted".

Dunningvale Region
The vote passed by a vote 80% yes, 20 % no. The local governing council is planning on meeting with Mayor Longhorn in coming days.

Outside Elante City
The loyalist troops arrive just outside of Elante City at 6PM, the commander of the force, General Wantoya decides that the attack should begin the next morning as weather reports claim there to be a heavy fog over the city. He and his men camp in the bush for the night, seeming to be undetected by the rebels.

Presidential Castle, Neptune
11 PM
As the guard's shifts at the castle changeover for the night, a guard leaves the south watch tower, which is vacant for some 20 minutes as the graveyard shift guard is running late.

During this time, noone seems to notice a car pull in very closely to the south wall. The vehicle, a mid-sized station wagon is laden with gelyconite. It's driver bails out, taking his remote detonator with him and bunkers down about 100m from the wall. He knows that the main communications closet for the yard is directly behind where the vehicle is parked.

He waits a moment and then detonates the vehicle, blowing a hole in the wall and scaterring debris all over the yard of the castle, the bomber himself is struck with debris and lay unconcious in the bunker. Many of the guards are struck down also.

Guards run to the explosion only to see the remains of a vehicle and the south wall in ruins. They search around the compound, finding the bomber. A guard checks to see if he is still alive and then says "I am going to finish him" shooting him in the head.

Meanwhile, the president awoken by the explosion scatters to the yard, only to see dust and the south wall down. He thinks to himself that he is lucky that they are still sealed in by the other two walls protecting the centre of the castle.

12AM

Presidential Castle, Neptune
With the South Wall down and the castle seemingly returned to normal, a bus load of 50 rebels arrive around 3 Km from the complex.

They march towards the castle, quite amused at the fact that they have not been noticed. They walk straight through the hole in the wall and begin a gunfight with the guards, the guards - stunned at the brevity of the attack do quite poorly losing a large number of men - the batteries atop the walls are down as there is no way to control them with the comms lines down.

Unfortunately, the rebels forgot one thing, that the next section of castle is closed off from the outer ring, other guards bunker down in the 2nd ring knowing that the rebels can cause no damge to them.

1AM
Outside Elante City
The Elante operations commanding officer receives a message from the Emergency Command Centre that Neptune is under attack and needs defending. He is ordered to withdraw from Elante at once and come to Neptune.

Emergency Command Centre, Presidential Castle, Neptune
9 AM
President Cairo walks into his ECC for a briefing with Generals Weinderberg, Hegbunnen and Stinson. He asks them "Do you believe me bowing down to their pressure would stop the violence at present"

Hegbunnen stands and says "You cant give into this scum, we should crush them like bugs. Bomb their cities, kill them let anyone who stands in our way and wants to destroy this institution die!"

General Stinson sits quietly shaking his head at his collegue, he believes that he has lost his mind.

Cairo replies "Who said it would be a fair referrendum? It isnt hard to rig these things so I get the result that I am after."

"But you are giving them an referrendum after the violence errupted"

"My mind is made up". With that Cairo storms out of the room seemingly annoyed at his General.
