The office of P.J. Longhorn, Mayor of Elante City, Colony of Magna Cartman
Standing on the steps of Elante City Town Hall, P.J. Longhorn declared "Today, because of your courage and defiance of the dictator Cairo, we are beginning our road to independence from the Magna Cartman Colony".

"No longer will we be led by a dictator, you, the people of Elante City have decided by democratic vote that you wish to break free from the Magna Cartman Colony and have your own representative government".

As the croud cheers "FREEDOM FOR ALL", Longhorn continues... "We urge all other Magna Cartman inhabitants to join us, and break from the dictatorship that has led us for so long. It is time for change".

"We will not be bullied by Cairo to change our decision, we will fight for freedom no matter the cost".

Press Release from the president, T.R. Cairo
The events in Elante City today mark the beginning of evil in this country. The Colonial Army and United Cartman Terrorist Agency will not stand by while such lunatics try to destabilise this country.

I have signed a decree authorising the use of force to eliminate those leading this uprising and will take all steps necessary to stabilising the country again.

Let this serve as a warning to those who wish to defy me. YOU WILL DIE. We will not be divided, we will unite and face this threat head on.

I call on other states to help us, help me stabilise this once great nation.

"This is Peter Ward reporting from the front of Elante City Town Hall, we are waiting for another speech from Mayor Longhorn with regards to the beginning of what he claims to be real democracy in the city".

Longhorn walks out onto the front steps, flanked by Mayor Warner from Astron City to the left and Mayors Chumanton of Sigma City, Raqu of the Miniton Region and Princeton of Janus City. Longhorn raises his hands in the air and says - "My supporters, you are supporting the greatest cause in the history of the Magna Cartman Colony, I have over the last 24 hours spoken to each of my counterparts in each city and region around the colony, and those which you see standing with me - are standing with us".

Longhorn drops his hands and the crowd cheers - "They have the courage to hold a free referendum on leaving the dictatorship and being a part of our democracy".

"My friends are prepared to pay the price of freedom, freedom will prevail no matter the cost".

"The people of Sigma, Janus and Miniton will have their say next weekend, the Elante City and it's resources will assist in whatever means necessary".

"Thankyou and welcome to the era of true representative democracy".

With that the 4 leaders return into town hall, leaving the crowd stunned and asking "What will Cairo do?".

Statement from the President of Magna Cartman

Proposed election day minus 3 days

Fellow citizens,
Following the announcement by P.J. Longhorn that Astron, Sigma, Miniton and Janus will be holding a referrendum on breaking from the great colony I have been considering my position.

Let it be known that I have reviewed the constitution along with my advisers and as of today, I will enact the Constitutional Emergency Act. The act will make it an offence to facilitate and convene an election or referendum that would affect the constitution without the authority of the president. It will be legal for the military to kill any person found to breach this law without trial.

The act also makes it an offence punishable by death, for the mayors of cities and regions to break from the colony. Further, any person attempting to over-rule the authortity of the president will be tried as a traitor and will be subject to the full force of the treason laws in this colony.

Further, it also provides provisions for the president to declare a state of constitutional emergency and declare martial law over the entire colony or affected regions.

I have today put the 20,000 agent strong UCTA and 40,000 full time army officers on notice. The 30,000 army reservists the colony has under its control has also been recalled for service.

If the planned referendums are not terminated and Longhorn does not resign as Mayor of Elante City, I will be declaring a state of constitutional emergency and declaring martial law in each of the rouge regions in 3 days time.

The colony will not be divided by these evil traitors.

Hail the beta.

Elante City Town Hall - Election day minus 3 days (evening)

Mayor P.J. Longhorn stands on the steps of town hall in front of the nation's press. He proclaims -
"My supporters, I wish to inform you that I will not be standing down as mayor of this fine city and the referendums in other regions will go as planned in 3 days time. We will no longer be dictated by the tyrant Cairo".

Pausing as the press cheers, Longhorn continues - "Cairo's days as leader of this fine nation are numbered. No longer will we accept him telling us what to do, how to do it and when - we will want a representative democratic and above all accountable government".

"Mayors Warner, Chumanton, Chumanton, Princeton and myself kindly acknowledge the support of the Grand Assembly and promise we will not stand down from our position".

"I also would like to take this opportunity to request that those in the military consider joining us in the fight for freedom, we will take back what is ours and give it to the people of this nation - There will be bloodshed, that is inevitable with Cairo, but we are willing to stand up and fight for mother Magna Cartman".

"Finally, those who wish to fight for this cause, may prepare by visiting their region's town hall tomorrow morning at 10 AM, we will provide you with the weapons and basic training to form militias in your suburbs to fight Cairo and his tyranny".

"Good night and let tomorrow be the beginning of the new Magna Cartman".

Magna Cartman News Network, Special News Report

Election Day - 2 days 11AM
"We are seeing amazing images coming in today of men and women lining up at the town halls of Elante, Sigma, Miniton, Astron and Janus to be placed into their platoon and provided with training and weapons to fight for independence if necessary. We will now take you to pictures of Elante City Town Hall, where Mayor Longhorn is due to give a speech".

Mayor Longhorn walks onto the now internationally famous steps of Elante City Town Hall and begins. He proclaims - "This should be enough to show dictator Cairo that we mean business. We will fight for freedom no matter the cost". He pauses for a minute as the crowd cheers "DEATH TO CAIRO" and then continues - "My collegues in other cities have reported a combined amount of 20,000 men and women signing up for duty so far, and we still have people to go, we have 8,500 army members who have deflected to our cause and who will provide training to our militia".

"I have been criticised for allowing women to join - but the choice is theirs - in a true democracy they can choose whether they want to serve their country or not".

"Bless you all my comrades".

The news crew then shows pictures from earlier in the morning of people lining up over 5 city blocks in Elante City for service.

In the ancient city of Janus, people have been queing outside the magnificant and ancient town hall since dawn, as the sun rises over the ancient white stone hall - the people can be seen with the golden glow over them.

There are similar scenes in the other freedom loving cities as well as a few lone demonstrators out the front of the presidential castle in Neptune.

The day before referrendum day...

"Today, we are seeing some more amazing images coming in from around the nation as the people of Astron City, Sigma City, Miniton Region and Janus City decide on whether they wish to stay as a part of what their mayors call a dictatorship".

"Over the past 24 hours, some 34,000 men and women have signed up to fight for the cause if necessary, and looking at these images on screen now - it may be".

"These images are showing the army moving their soilders down the Capital Highway into Elante, Astron and Sigma from Neptune. We are told that the troops are going to be stationed outside each city, the Elante military base will not be used as it has been taken over by renegade officers".

"We have heard from the transportation department that they strongly recommend that people avoid the Capital Hwy between Neptune and Elante and both east and westbound on Marshall Hwy from the Capital Hwy exit to Aston and Sigma".

The scenes being displayed on screen show a large train of troop carriers almost 2 Km long travelling along the sparse countryside along the highway.

"Meanwhile, in Elante City, the 15,000 person milita is conducting training excercises in the Elante Military Base".

"We have also heard from sources inside the president's castle that there will be troops leaving Orion bound for Janus today and troops leaving Raptoress base bound for Miniton".

"As you can see on screen - the militia of Janus, Miniton and Astron are ready to defend their right to freedom".

Images are displayed of militia training in each region, the smallest being the 500 soilder militia in Miniton.

"Meanwhile, support for the cause is growing in Neptune - there are now an estimated 50,000 people camping outside of the presidential castle protesting against president Cairo's actions".

"Wait - I am being told that the president is preparing to make a speech from his balcony. We will cross to George Winford who is on the ground there now".

"This is George Winford live from the presidential castle in Neptune, President Cairo has appeared on his balcony and is preparing to address the increasing crowd".

Neptune begins as he is boo-ed by the democratic supporters - "Fellow citizens, you are supporting the evil in this once proud nation - they are trying to overthrow our system of government for the past 150 years".

"I have taken action, as the vast majority of this nation would want. I will not shed one pint of blood without justification. If violence breaks out we will simply defend law and order."

"The military has been advised to not fire unless fired upon first. The UCTA will however be capturing those assisting and convening these referrendums and charging them in accordance with the law - they will be held at the military camps stationed outside each town until transported to the cells at the castle".

"This is exactly what our forefathers would have done. They dreamed of a presidential system to replace our flawed King and government system".

"The people in this nation have gotten the idea from corrupt capitalist governments around the world - let this serve as a warning to you - interfere and we will respond".

"Bless the beta!"

"As you have just seen and heard, the president is dealing with this uprising and will take all steps necessary to stamp it out. This is George Winford for the MCNN".

Statement from the Office of Mayor Warner, Astron City

Day prior to election day...

The office of Mayor Warner wish to inform the citiziens of the city that the explosion heard at 12 PM today was a bomb blast at the city hall. The explosion, blew a hole in the eastern wall of the complex.

Entry was then gained and the mayor kidnapped. Preliminary reports from staff suggest that agents from the UCTA were responsible as they were heavily armed and using UCTA issued weapons. At this stage we wish to state that these are unconfirmed.

In any case, this will not affect tomorrow's referrendum and rest assured that the mayor will be found and rescued.

All UCTA officers will be clearly identifiable and are instructed to preserve civilian life. To avoid being arrested, comply with all UCTA orders and do not interfere with any arrrests that may take place.

Statement from the Defence Towers, Neptune

Referrendum day, 4 PM

The military of Magna Cartman wish to advise the following:
1. 5 polling stations in Astron were raided today and 65 arrests occurred. The majority of the arrests were polling officials, with the remainder civilians who failed to comply with orders.

2. A further 27 polling stations in Astron were targeted but were being guarded by the militia comissioned by Mayor Longhorn. This resulted in 46 militia deaths, 10 army deaths and numerous more injuries.

3. One polling station in Miniton was raided, netting 2 arrests, both polling officials. The other 10 were targeted but were guarded by militia. There was 2 civilian deaths during fighting believed to be caused by the army. Investigations continue and the officers invoved stood down.

4. In Sigma 300 militia were captured, another 15 killed when the UCTA discovered that all polling boths were being guarded. The army then went in to clear the threat, but only netted 147 polling officials. The army suffered only minor injuries.

5. In Janus, we suffered our heaviest losses due to the massive size of their milita. 19 soldiers killed, 145 injured. Casualties on the other side are unknown at this stage.

We are expecting violence into the night but are not planning to arrest any further polling officials. At this stage restoring law and order is of more importance than arresting those assisting in running the referrendum.

The day after election day...

"This is Ricardo Kemming reporting from outside the military camp in Astron City."

"Violence has broken out in the city centre, about 10 Km East of here following an incident between protestors and the army. The army called on the protestors to return to their homes as it was past curfew and when they refused, an army officer threw a grenade into the crowd - killing 376 and injuring another 2300."

"We are told that the protestors were peaceful and protesting against the capture of their mayor and polling officials. They were carrying placcards of Cairo dressed as satan and slogans saying - WE WANT FREEDOM".

"As you can see in the pictures on screen now, the army were using ridiculous force on the protestors and when the army retreated they blatantly murdered them in the streets".

"We are told that many of the injured had to be flown to other cities for treatment as the hospital system could not cope".

"The miliotary is yet to release a statement, while all troops in this region remain in the camp".

"In other parts of the nation under martial law, there have been a few civilian arrests and around 110 militia personell have been captured. We are told the militia will be charged with treason".

"At this present point in time, there is an armed stand off between the militia and the military in Astron City, as militia guards spotted UCTA officials attempting to gain entry into town hall."

"MCNN will bring any and all developments as they break".

Referrendum Day + 2 Days

The sun is beginning to set over Neptune City as General Mika Hegbunen (The army's top officer) steps out of the tall defence towers building to go for his evening stroll. Thoughts go through his head of how and when to deal with the situation that occurred yesterday in Astron. He also plans how best to deal with the democratic uprising in the nation.

The general is spotted by a TV crew filming an advertisement in the Betanese district of Neptune. He spots them and trys to avoid them, but he is too late - they have spotted him and have cameras on him already. He feels the glow of the production lights as they move towards him and the producer walks upto him and asks him if he would like to undertake an interview - he declines and continues on his way.

The general returns back to the defence towers where he sits down and watches the MCNN on TV. He is watching all the goings on of the day in the trouble regions - the military deaths and injuries, the militia deaths and injuries, the capture of polling officals and the criticism about the silence in relation to yesterday's civilian deaths in Astron.

The station then shows him denying an interview and states that a great coverup is underway, going all the way to the president. He is outraged at first and calls the president for his advice.

The president tells him - "I have nothing to do with this, the military is to take care of the situation - do something to make it go away, I dont care what".

Somewhere on the Island of Alfüc, located off the Eastern Coast of Liberated America.

- The Early morning light danced on the rotating blades of a nearby idling CH-47 Chinnook transport helicopter. A group of some twenty-eight Liberate Elite Guardsmen were busy checking their weapons and loading supplies and munitions into the bay of the large helicopter. The men were under the command of Captain David Lee Price. Their mission was to make sure the revolution in Magna_Cartman ended in victory for the rebels, but to do so without compromising Liberate military involvment in the conflict. A green democratic nation could be something the Liberates could exploit.

Within another hour the men were ready to move. With Price's signal the chopper lifted into the red sky and began it journy to a location just outside Neptune....

- In the skies over Magna_Cartman. ETA to arranged meeting point: 25 minutes. -

Captain Price surveys his men as the chopper hastily makes its way towards Neptune City. They are weary from the 15 hour ride from Alfüc all the way out here, stopping for fuel in StPetersburg. Many of them are asleep, others are listening to personal CD players which they brought along, staring out the windows to the vegetation and distant fires below. Price brings his gloved hand up to his ear, activating the microradio implanted into his inner ear. "How long until touchdown in Neptune city?", he says to the pilot. Before the pilot could answer the CH-47 is shook as a earthquake would strike a tennement. Price stumbles into a nearby pile of supplies at a Tracer round streaks through the hull of the flying beast. Scrambling to his feet Price staggers towards the nearest window, struggling to keep his balance. All of the men are alert and awake now, most of them chattering nervously asking what the hell is happening. Price looks down below the aircraft just in time to see the flash of an anti-aircraft gun as it began to belch AP rounds towards the chopper. The aircraft rocked once again as internal alarms and red lights began going off inside. More tracer rounds pierced the hull, narrowly missing the men inside, but damaging one of the turbines which powered the craft.

They were trapped, an unarmed transport chopper was a sitting duck for the enemy AAA. He knew what he had to do if any of his men were to survive. Making his way over the the rear ramp, he slammed his fist intot he button which detracted the large door. Ordering his men to their feet, at once they donned their parachutes and slung their weapons. Informing the pilots of their intended exit the pilots immediately decreased altitude so the men werent such a target for enemy AAA. At an altitude of no more than 500 feet the men executed a mass exit from the aircraft, and with practiced bravado opened their chutes, and began gliding to the ground with no more than 30 feet to spare before colliding with the hard, forest floor.

Upon landing, Price cut himself away from his chute and shouldered his XM-8 Carbine, scanning the area for enemies. Shortly thereafter his men began coming in around him. Due to the low altitude and mass exit from the craft, the men were not spread out significantly and were able to regain formation within moments. Price motioned to his men to form up on him just in time to see the wounded bird come in low over the trees, and crash into the canopy only yards away from their position.

Stranded, little food, little water, little ammo, miles from civilization. All Price knew was his mission, and that was to ensure the Rebel success. With a flick of the wrist, the 29 men began moving towards the crash sight to try and recover the 2 pilots.

Commonwealth of DeVlaamseLeeuw

The democrats of Magna Cartman wish to thank you for your support. We too are concerned about the preservation of life. We are most disturbed that civilians have been killed by the national army.

Our militia personell are well aware of the risks and have signed up knowing that they could be killed or injured, they take the risk as they believe that the nation will be better of under a representative democratic government.

We also advise that we should be releasing the results of the referrendum in the other regions today, as there are only around 500 votes left to count.

It is dark and quiet in the mayoral residence in Elante City, Mayor Longhorn is awaken at 1:30 AM by a telephone call. It is Major Rykers from the captured Elante City army base. He says "We were monitoring the radar for enemy aircraft and spotted a strange chopper enter range about an hour ago. A half hour ago it disappeared after an AAA missle was shot from the Huang base in the forest between here and Neptune".

Longhor responded - "Do we know the origin of the aircraft".
"No sir".
"Is it one of ours?"
"No sir"
"Could it be from Liberated America?"
"Possibly sir"

With that, Longhorn rose from bed, got dressed and got into his black mid-sized car. He races to the army base, narrowly avoiding an accident on the way.

When he arrives at the base, he asks Ryker "Is there anyone here that can fly a chopper". Ryker replies "I used to fly them for the army, I havent for a while, but think I can still do it".

Longhorn then requests that Ryker find him 10 men to join them on a recon mission, he says a few medics and soldiers is all we should need. Ryker tells Longhorn that he doesnt believe that he should go in case the army or UCTA capture him. Longhorn responded "Give me a gun and let's go".

The ground crew ready one of the army's prides - the AX97, a heavily armed, armoured attack chopper and in half an hour the men are off to find their Liberate friends.

After an hour and a half of flying they spot the burning wreckage of the liberatian transport chopper - Longhorn asks Ryker to set down as close as he can. Ryker manages to find a clearing in the forest about 500m from the crash site. Longhorn believes that the forest is too thick to be able to find the Libertians by a fly over.

The group climbs out of the chopper and stands beside it, asking each other which way to go. They decide to head North, towards Neptune as Longhorn thinks that would be the way the Libertians would head. The group is warned to be quiet and to listen closely as they are not far from an army base, probably full of Cairo's loyalists.

The forest is dark and quiet, all that can be heard is the beta bugs humming on the forest floor, the footsteps in the leaves and the owls hooting in the trees...

Aboard the HMS-Thunderbird
The convoy, carrying 5,000 troops, was heavily armed. The aircraft carrier HMS-Thunderbird was always near when an incident needed militairy intervention. At this very moment, the aircraft carrier had not yet reached the coast line, nore had the other ships of the convoy. But part of the security of the convoy were 2 AWACS-airplane. The radar of the furthest AWACS picked up 1 helicopter, and identified it as one of Liberated America. But after a little time, a second helicopter occured on the radar. But all of this happened at the uther limit of the radar, and only half a minute after the second helicopter entered the range of the radar, both helicopters went out of the range.
"Sir," the liaison officer said, when Commander Janssen, son of the Admiral, entered the communications part of the ship, "We have picked up the trail of a helicopter from the airforce of Liberated America, but when another, unidentified flying craf entered the range of our AWACS-plane, both of them left the range again, and we lost the signal. The crew of the AWACS is now busy as hell trying to pick the signal back up, but until now, with no result."
"If there are any unidentified crafts flying around," the commander spoke, "we cannot take any risk. Send out 2 F22's to secure the air. We must gain control of the airspace. And let another F22 look around for the lost helicopter."
"Yes Sir", the officer saluted, and he went to work.
Ten minutes later, all 3 of the F22's took off from the carrier, to complete their task.
After half an hour, the F22 sent out to find the lost helicopter, found the remainders of the crashed helicopter. The pilot brought a last salute, and told what he saw to the AWACS. Seconds later Commander Janssen knew about the crash.
"Give message to Commander Svenssen from the HMS-Svenssen that he has to send out a helicopter to look for survivors", the order was.
Minutes later, a helicopter took off from the deck of the HMS-Svenssen, looking for survivors of the wreck.

Price and his men quickly closed distance with the downed chopper. As it turned out each of the pilots were able to escape the chopper just before the final missle struck the craft. Not only were they able to get out, but they sent a distress signal to Liberate High command just before they jumped, they also were able to retrieve their Personal Weapons, AKS-74U Carbines. This brought Price's effective number of men up to 31, including himself. He ordered his men to salvage what they could of the chopper and its cargo, however all they could retrieve intact were a few Anti-tank rockets and 2 Stinger Missle launchers, plus minor ammo and food.

With one more obstacle out of the way the men began moving again towards Neptune, they made slow pace however as Price knew they were in enemy territory, and they needn't make their presence known. Within moments, however, they heard the peculiar whir of chopper blades nearby come and go. Price knew they enemy had landed a search party so he ordered his men to take up defensive perimeter and await the enemy contingent.

Price placed his weapon against a nearby tree as he lay prone and stared down the sight. His ear twitched at yet another noise....a jet engine. "Wow, those guys must be serious with this one, they dont want to cut us any slack at all." Price thought to himself. He then sighted the first of the assumed enemy, a small group of 10 give or take. Price slowly motioned for his men to hold fire as he intended on ambushing his opponent. They drew ever closer. They were within almost 10 yards of Price's position when he emerged from the leaves and brush, his men did the same, each with their weapons pointed towards the men.

Each of the Liberate soldiers was outfitted much the same, even the pilots. They wore digital pattern camouflage BDUs, were outfitted with the latest in Zylon bodyarmor technology, carried a variety of weapons, and each was equipped with a 14 inch blade monikered the "Khan" for self-defense. Price let out a decided "Drop your weapons and put your hands up!", leveling his rifle on the nearest man.

Some forest in Magna Carta
Captain Van Buyten immediately knew these were the men they were searching for. Not only did one of the men have a few burn wounds, but he felt it in his heart.
"I won't say it again," the "hostile" leader said, "Drop your weapons NOW!"
The captain lowered his weapon, and his privates did so too.
"We are Commonwealth soldiers," the Captain remarked, "and we were sent out to find you. One of our planes tracked you guys down, and suddenly your helicopter disappeared. We are no enemies, the position of the Commonwealth of De Vlaamse Leeuw is clear, to help the rebels install a democracy, and I take it that's why you are here. You are soldiers from Liberated America aren't you?"
The captain awaited the response of the opposing leader...

Price shot a quick glance back to his men, then looked back to the opposing group of men. He halfway believed them, but also halfway believe they were the ones who shot them down. Liberate Elite Guard Training teaches to stick to the mission and stick only to the mission. Price had never even heard of the other man's country of origin. His finger twitched up and down the Trigger of the XM-8. "We have no reason to trust you. And until we meet with the Magna Cartman rebel leader then you are our enemy. Either leave your weapons and go, or you shall feed the Carrion birds.". Price knew he would need help against the enemy forces, but he couldnt take any unecessary risks. Price awaited the other man's response....

Captain Van Buyten thought for some seconds. Ofcourse they don't trust us, they just got shot down.
"Do you have a radio with you," the captain asked, "Or else you could use ours. We have one in the helicopter. You can contact your hq to ask what to do. We are who we tell you to be, but I can understand you don't trust us. If it makes you feel better, we'll give you our arms so we are unarmed when we go to the chopper. What do you think?"
The captain hoped they did agree, because otherwise they would have to return unarmed and the general hated things like that...

Price again looked back to his men. He spoke all the while to his men, he did not however appear to be. A small device strapped to his throat allowed him to barely whisper words in order for his men to hear. After discussing the situation for a short time with his men, he decided that since the pilots had sent a signla back to the Liberate Command that they did not need any help from outsiders. "Leave your weapons and go. We are set. This is your final warning." Price looked on to see what the men would do.

Again, Captain Van Buyten looked sharply in the direction of the opposing leader. This could get messy, we should be on the same site damned. Why can't they just trust us?
"We can't hand over our arms," the captain said sadly, thinking of how the world was going, if allies were set against each other, "it's against my orders. We'll leave to our chopper, you can even follow us. If we hand over our arms, your lifes will be forfeited. Perhaps you've heared plane engines flying over? That are our F22's. The best hunters in the region. By tomorrow, 5,000 commonwealth troops will be landing here. And I'm sure the general will first want formal apologies from your commanders, which you won't give him and so there will be a hunt for you and your crew. I'm not threatening you, just saying: let us leave with our equipment, and you won't have any hassle from us. We'll even contact your commanders and tell them you are all right."
The only thing the captain could do now, was hoping...

Price looked down. He couldnt let potential enemy forces leave, armed, for chance of being yet another thorn in the side of the rebellion. the enemy men were outnumbered, and outgunned. Why would they not simply leave. Price knew what would happen if one of his men were killed as a result of this incident, the Liberates would mobilize the entire 4th Expeditionary force, along with the 2nd Naval infantry division to destroy every one of this man's allied forces. He had but one choice. There were no alliances between their two nations....he gave the order to his men "Fire at will, shoot to wound". The sound of Safetys clicking off make Price's ears twitch and the sounds of the first shells hitting the ground gave as Price loosed the trigger, as did the rest of his men.

The Commonwealth men jumped away. A few were shot in the legs. A few kilometers further, the helicopter pilote heared shots being fired. He immediately contacted the AWACS and then started the engine. The rotors started turning, but due to the trees, he couldn't start a rescue mission and so he tried keeping his chopper on the ground.
In the mean time half of the marines answered the firing, while the others, like they were supposed to, returned to the chopper. The answering marines hided behind some trees.
How the hell were they supposed to escape this hell, the captain wondered.

Aboard the HMS-Thunderbird, in the communications room
"Sir," the liason officer yelled at Commander Janssen, "Message has just reached us that shots have been noticed in the area where the search patrol was looking for the missing helicopter."
"Damned," the Commander replied, "Get the land force generals in my office immediately. We must do something"
Five minutes later, both generals were in the communications room, sitting around a table in the middle of the room, waiting for news.
"Make sure you return the troops," the conclusion was, after another five minutes, "we'll deal with any hostile troops later."

Only 3 men, including Captain Van Buyten, escaped that hell. The others were killed or appeared to be killed. There was nothing they could do for them anymore. The chopper took off for the HMS-Svenssen...

Price Narrowed his vision as he stared through the smoke, the order was shoot to wound, but mistakes occur. He saw around 7 men on the ground, 4 of them appeared to be alive. Motioning to his men he ordered them to pick up all the lost enemy equipment, to bury the dead, and assist the wounded. Any nation whom does not recognize Liberate superiority will be swiftly dealt with. But Price heard another chopper, he assumed it was the one from before. With great swiftness he issued the appropriate orders to his men and before the chopper could get out of range, there were 2 stinger missles trailing it. To keep this unfortunate incident from the enemy is to maintain peace between the two nations.

The high officers General Peeters (only 33 years old, but already general, he was the most promising officer in the entire army) and General Jackson (72 and very experienced) and Commander Janssen heared the last seconds of the people in the helicopter.
"Gentlemen," General Jackson spoke as first, "We have just received a decleration of war from who-ever did this."
And to the liason officer, he said: "Give me a direct and secured line to Admiral Janssen, I'll inform him from the current events."
Apparently unaffected by the events, the convoy proceeded its way towards the lands of Magna Cartman...

Price looked into the sky with satisfaction, hoping that no signal had been sent back to the enemy's HQ for the sake of peace. With a heavy heart he looked back to his own men, still thirty remaining. But now he had 4 wounded prisoners. Price was not completely inhuman, but then again he was willing to do anything for the sake of the mission. with the enemy's ammunition and arms assimilated into his force, Price left the 4 enemy wounded with minimal supplies and their knives to fend for themselves in the forest. Moving towards Neptune, Price calculated that there was a scant 10 miles left to go before they would reach Neptune, and thats if they didnt run into someone else along the way.

The count was leaning backwards in his chair, thinking about how good things were in his country, when Admiral Janssens walked in.
"I thought I told you I didn't want to be disturbed, Jan", the count said a bit irritated.
"But I'm sure you wanna hear this Sir," Admiral Jan Janssens replied, "One of our helicopters was searching for a lost helicopter from one of the other rebel assisting nations. They found the wreck, but no bodies, so they left the chopper to take a look around. After some time, they were taken under fire, and only 3 could return to the chopper. But when it took off, the chopper was taken down by missiles. They are all dead!"
Count Kristof I Hobbezak looked pale, after hearing that.
"Perhaps it would be better to send more men and material for this task," the count suggested to his right hand, "After all, we are facing a government here."
"Another ten thousand men are ready if you need them Sir," the Admiral replied, "But I would suggest to wait until things become a bit more clear."
"Fine," the count spoke after a moment of silence, "But send the another aircraft carrier under protection to the area. We must get hold of the airspace."

New Montgomery, Liberate Capital City. Office of the Liberate President Hamilton.

President Hamilton sat at the conference table, to his left, Supreme forces Commander Josef Loag and to his left, Secretary of Defense Kéigen Klobb. It seemed that a Liberate Survelliance satellite caught everything as it panned out. The chopper being shot down, the firefight....everything. A meeting had been called to discuss plans of actions. Liberate Satellites over DeVlaamseLeeuw picked up massive troop movements. The Liberate command knew exactly what had happened. A battle strategy was laid out for actions against DeVlaamseLeeuw. The plan was to make reiforcements and completely destroy all of their forces at sea. This would send DeVlaamseLeeuw a nice little message and perhaps they would learn to obey their superiors. It is however, a cruel world. President Hamilton therefore delegated the Attack upon the DeVlaamseLeeuwian fleet to Navy Admiral Ean Greenstoff. Within hours the Liberate 5th Fleet and 4 Expeditionary Force was on its way towards Magna Cartman.

Meanwhile, some 50 B-52 Aircraft each armed with 6 MAD-X Anti-ship plasma charged conventional missles. Each of these missles were capable of taking down a capital ship with a single blast. The Liberates were using nearly half of their stock on the DeVlaamseLeeuwian task force, as this weapon still needed to be battle tested.

The aircraft formed over the Ocean and headed towards the Fleet. Soon after they were joined by 100 XF-18 Dirt Dobber aircraft. These planes were heavily modified versions of the US F-18 Super Hornet in that they had much more advanced tracking and navigation systems, but they Ace in their deck was the Directional thrust attachments, allowing these sub-sonic fighters to outmaneuver even the newest of British and American aircraft.

Price and his men were weary, they hadnt slept for over twenty four hours. After a few moments of discussion between himself and his men, they decided to set up camp in a nearby cave which they happened upon. The position of their camp was roughly 7 more miles through hills and forest to the city of Neptune. The sun would be up soon, and the men needed rest. After boobytrapping the entrance of the cave with Claymore Mines and other various things, the 31 men hunkered down and slept.

Over the Ocean, near the coast of MC.

The Liberate Wing of B-52s loomed over the ocean as a pelican would its prey. The XF-18s guarded the bombers as they made their final approach towards the enemy fleet. Within an hour or so the bombers came within range of the enemy ships. In a coordinated assault with the fleet at sea the "Hades" and the B-52s loosed a combined total of 50 missles at the enemy ships. 30 missles from the planes, and 20 from the ships. After fireing the planes reformed and prepared to launch another volley if the first was not enough.

The missles neared their target, still 40 miles out it would be only minutes before they reached their target.

The two cruisers and the aircraft carrier were putting their sams to work. At the same moment, the 3 F22's were trying to take the bombers and the fighters out. Other F22's were taking off, but with only minutes to go, there would be chance for only a few 5 F22's to escape the incoming missile rain.
Ten minutes later, the result was known. The 2 cruisers took all the damage, as they used their SAMs to protect the troopcarriers. The HMS-Thunderbird was heavily damaged, and all F22's apart from 2 (one excellent pilot and his wingman) were shot down (that would be about 8 down i estimate).
Another bombing would mean the end of both the aircraftcarrier and the troopcarriers...

Deep within the forest

Longhorn and his men continue to search for the libertarian crew in the dark, cold forest when they hear a loud explosion not far from where they presently were. Ryker thinks to himself I bet those loyalist bastards have blown our chopper up. Longhorn asks "Should we go back and check?. Ryker abruptly says "No, if they have found that, they will find us next".

The men walk through the forest for about 15 minutes when they hear some F16s flying overhead, Ryker yells "Stay down and dont go into any clear space, they WILL see you if you do.". The next thing they hear is gunshots coming from the aircraft, just shooting at the ground in the hope of getting something and to clear some of the foilage in the area. The men begin to run, fearing for their lives - they all are alone with their thoughs, some fearing what will happen and how they will be found.

The F16s, obviously disheartened by what they didnt see, returned to base. Ryker says "That was close, now let's hurry up a bit".

They continue on when they run into soldiers, in uniforms they are unfamiliar with. There are 4 of them, each injured with gunshot wounds, the medics rush up to them to assist but they draw their weapons - their leader inquires "Who the hell are you?". Longhorn responds "Fergenny - do you know what that means?. The leader instructs his men to lower their weapons and asks "You are of the rebel forces, I am Sargeant McMilland of the Commonwealth of DeVlaamseLeeuw we have come ashore to find the other assisting nation's men after we noticed they had been downed by a AAA". Ryker then asks "I take it you have ran into some loyalists?" McMilland responds "Nope, the assisting men shot at us and then took down the helicopter we came in on when the unharmed men went to return to our carrier".

Ryker and McMilland aquaint themselves with each other as McMilland continues about how they came here and what the assisting force did.

Longhorn in the meantime, steps off into the quiet, pulls out his satellite phone and calls the Elante City army base. He requests that some F16s and B52s take off to destroy the AAAs in the area, to make it easier for a chopper to land at the meeting point. He also requests that some troops be mobilised toward Neptune, a location previously untouched by the rebels.

Longhorn returns to the group as the medics patch up the commonwealth soldiers, McMilland then suggests that they head off and try to follow the libertarians..

The men walk off slowly into the distance as the sun begins to rise over the forest...

As the darkness begins to fade over Sigma City, Mayor Chumaton makes his way to City Hall for the day's work. As he walks in he greets the guards and militia unbeknown to him of what is to happen.

The UCTA waits outside for his car to pass, 3 agents sneak into the now locked down Sigma City Hall. They stun the guards and militia and continue down the large marble floored corridor to the mayoral office. As they are about to open the door, they hear several B52 bombers inbound. The lead agent asks the others "Are you aware of any bombing missions in here today?" The others shake their heads as they nervously open the door of the office. The mayor instantly recognises the men as UCTA agents and reaches under his desk of the silent alarm, he presses the large red button and instnatly the room is flooded by guards.

The guards take hold of the UCTA officers and begin to take them off to the holding cells, they get no futher than 10 m out the door when they hear a loud explosion... then everything goes black as if it is night again.

As the missles went on to meet their targets, Liberate radio chatter began to light up th airwaves with negative delivery reports. "1st volley partial effectiveness, 2nd volley required. Drop thirty, fire for effect. Over." The B-52s imediately reformed to launch their second volley of missles, but not before being harassed by several enemy interceptor craft. It was a short air battle, the enemy F-22s were made short work of by the Liberate XF-18s and B-52 defensive cannons. Before the enemy air menace had been dealt with, two XF-18s suffered heavy damage, but were able to return to their carrier, and one bomber suffered an engine out, but was able to continue.

Now thirty miles from the enemy fleet the Massive air wing reformed and once again fired upon the enemy fleet. Thirty missles inbound.

Price was awoken by a sudden chatter over his Microradio. Until a little while before they could not recieve incoming transmissions as they lost their radio in the crash, but a commonwealth soldier was nice enough to give his up. With a few short attachments the enemy transmitter was wired into the team's microradios. It also appeared to recieve enemy transmissions without any modification.

Upon waking Price looked around the rather large cavern to see most of his men had already gotten up. Many ate their MREs around various fires. Each of them looked miserable, but nevertheless willing to give his life for the cause. Price got up and continued to listen to the chatter as he fixed his breakfast. As more information came in he slowly deciphered was what was going on. It seemed a commonwealth Expeditionary force was under attack.....50 incoming missles? Price did not expect the loyalists had 50 anti-ship missles to shoot at an incoming enemy fleet. With a moment of thought, Price imagined the worst. He knew his government had already found out about what happened, and that they would do anything to defend their honor. But, what was done was done. Running over to the transmitter Price quickly tuned it to the Liberate Universal frequency and began to report their situation as it was. "Base this is callsign Maddhatter, come in base. Callsign Maddhatter requesting logistical support at map quadrant Q-4-3-89. Helo in the bush, enemy troops down, little supplies. No casualties. Repeat....." After a few moments Price recieved a response. "Affirmative Maddhatter. Stay where you are, we will send a Naval Recovery Force to your position. Confirm on smoke, Over. ----- "Maddhatter confirms, over.

Price stood up and informed his men on their situation. The map quadrant was a grassy field approximately one half mile from their position, Price knew that no chopper would get into this area without getting shot down. Within moment himself and his men were inbound to the recovery point, ETA: a few minutes.

Meanwhile aboard a Liberate "Hestia" Light Carrier 3 Harrier VTOL Aircraft and one H-5 Mongoose cargo helicopter lifted off and began the flight to the designated recovery point. ETA - one hour.

President Cairo calls General Vandermere Weinderberg, Gen. Preston Stinson and General Mika Hegbunen into his large office for a discussion of the worsening situation.

He glares straight at Hegbunen and inquires "Did I not tell you 2 days ago to make this go away. You have done NOTHING Mika, absolutely NOTHING". Hegbunen looks dumbfounded and Stinson replies "I was the one who ordered no action on the grenade incident, I thought it would blow over".

Cairo stands up and yells "Blow over, you damn fool - that is why those traitors now have support form two other nations with much larger armies in addition to supplies from another. You are a damn moron".

Weinderberg then buts in and asks "Who authorised the bombing of the Sigma City Town Hall knowinf gull and well that 3 of my men would be there?" Silence fills the room when the President responds "I asked Preston to deal with that incident quickly, the Chumaton is a threat to us. I authorised all force as needed" Weinderberg responds "I was told to send some agents in to do it peacefully, at no time was I informed of an airstrike". Stinson calmly replies "Settle down, you are a glorified police force under military control. I informed Hegbunen that you were planning a mission at the specified time and told him to plan accordingly. It was meant to be carried out prior to your mission"

As Hegbunen starts to tremble at the table Weinderberg stands up and yells "We are the most highly trained agency in this nation. We dont resort to bombings and grenades on civilians. Just because you are leader of the combined military UCTA included doesnt mean that the army is better. You may think so but that is rubbish." Weinderberg then walks over to Hegbunen and holds his neck up to the wall "You knew my men were in there and you authorised their death. You are scum. I will kill you with my bare hands, you will pay for their lives I promise". With that General Stinson and President Cairo drag the two men apart and tell them to settle down. Hegbunen, obviously shaken asks if Weinderberg will be allowed to get away with that. The president responds "I do not know."

Weinderberg stands again and walks towards the door, he demands "Either I am given full control of the UCTA, and report to the president directly not some army piece of trash or there will be trouble. You have 24 hours to make a decision."

Weinderberg then walks out of the office, and Cairo declares "Well I think this was a productive meeting, let's end here".

OOC: My Aircraft are launching Anti-ship missles onto the commonwealth fleet which is docked off of your coast. 2 of their destroyers have been killed and their carrier too. My government saw the firefight in the woods via thermal immaging satellite, and they mistakenly took that, and the troop movements within the commonwealth as a hostile response to LA's involvement in the war, and that they may be a speed bumb in LA's ultimate political conquest of MC. My bombers have fired a 2nd volley and I am waiting for them to respond.

IC: In the skies above a forest near Neptune city, MC.

Three Liberate Harrier VTOL Aircraft and one Cargo Helicopter race towards the arranged meeting point with the stranded special forces team. The aircraft maintain a loose formation as not to cause too large of a radar signature, and to help avoid ground fire. If they were not careful they knew that they may suffer the same fate as the first fight through this area.

They were within minutes of their target when they suddenly passed over a nearly hidden Military base. Traveling at such a high speed and low altitude it seemed that the aircraft had caught the men off guard. For some reason command failed to inform the flight of this base in the middle of the forest, they had survelliance satellites didnt they? Men ran frantically around the base in seeming mundane directions. The pilots could see the men on the ground aiming their pistols and rifles at the passing aircraft, but some evasive maneuvers from all four pilots yielded no damage to them.

Thinking quickly each of the three harriers quickly broke formation from the helicopter, which proceeded to land in a nearby clearing some 500 yards from the base. The harriers immediately began to engage targets in the open, dropping their bombs, and strafing with their rockets and cannons. While the harriers did their work the helicopter secured a perimeter around the grassy area using the twelve man Elite Guard team which they had brought along, headed by 1st Lieutenant John Glenwood.

Near the newly found enemy base, 1 kilometer from the meeting point.
Price and his men heard the incoming aircraft and choppers, knowing that they were his men's resupply on it's way, but then he heard the explosions and alarms. Hoping that the worst hadnt happened once more himself and his men began to double time to the meeting point.

In short time they arrived to meet the helicopter and Lieutenant Glenwood. Price's men joined the others to form a total of 41 special forces operators. The two pilots whom were shot down in the beginning jumped onto the chopper as they would be needed elsewhere. Supplies were already unloaded and a plan of attack was discussed.

The chopper took off, heading back towards the light carrier from whence it had come, but taking a different route. The 41 men formed up, and ran through the woods for a short time before arriving on the outskirts of the military base, which much of it was now in flames from the suprise assault from the harriers, whom still cricled in the skies above. "Glenwood, take your men and attack the left flank of the base, i want you to secure any undestroyed vehicles and aircaft whcih you may come across. Myself and my men will attack the right flank, securing any building and ammo/fuel dumps we may come across. Leave no one alive, understand?". Captain Price told the officer. "Yes sir, crystal clear." the young lieutenant said.

Shortly thereafter the Liberate attack on the base was underway.

After the first wave, everyone expected the attack to be over, the mistake made to be discovered. But nothing was more untrue. A secondary wave came in, and without the SAM's of the cruisers, and only 6 targets left, it was impossible to escape. The HMS-Thunderbird exploded, as did the 5 carriers...

's Gravenwezel Castle, DeVlaamseLeeuw
The last words of the liason-officer echoed throught the room. Everyone in there looked extremely pale. Thankfully, General Peeters was saved as he took off in one of the helicopters. Commander Janssen got saved too, but General Jackson decided to die with the ship.
That was the news that Admiral Janssen got. He was pleased that his son survived, but the news that the HMS-Thunderbird, as well as the HMS-Svenssen and another cruiser, AND 5,000 men died, made him sick.
"Now," Count Kristof I Hobbezak broke the silence, "If this isn't an official declaration of war on us, then I don't know what a declaration of war is anymore. Frank (the secretairy of the count), immediately contact our allies in Gerhardt Küsterholz town. Marshall Gonzales (of the airforce), you must get airprotection for the fleet that is heading to the destroyed ships. They must continue their way, to try and pick up any survivors. In the mean time, Admiral Janssen, you put the national alarm on Code Red II."
The count didn't look upset, but only extremely tired. He was renown for his ability to keep his cool in crisis situations.

~~~Commonwealth Newsflash~~~
"Ladies and gentleman, terrible news has just come in from 's Gravenwezel Castle. The count is sad to admit that today, 1 Aircraftcarrier, the HMS-Thunderbird, 2 cruisers under which the HMS-Svenssen and 5 transportships have been brought to sink by the Liberated American army. In total, over 6,000 commonwealth soldiers have been murdered, under which the reknown Commander Svenssen of the HMS-Svenssen and General Jackson of the paratroopers. All citizens have been asked to be vigilant, because any attack on the mainland of the Commonwealth is to be expected. This is Code Red II people, I repeat Code Red II. The entire week has been announced to be a mourning week, and the flagues will be hanging half-mast. If any new evolutions appear, we will keep you informed."
All over the land, people started crying, as many people lost a son, a boyfriend, a husband, a father...
Aboard the "Spartan" class supercarrier A.S.S. Alabama
Admiral Keel, Commander of the Liberate 5th fleet listened to the radio chatter with a slight grin as the various reports came in. The entire enemy fleet sunk, one step closer to victory, he thought. This triggers the second part of the Liberate plan. Establish a beachhead on Magna Cartman using the 4th expeditionary force. The entire fleet along with the 4th Exp. Force began its 50 mile lurch towards the beaches, the Aegis cruiser and destroyers took point to defend against any enemy missle strikes which may decide to try and impede the Liberate progress. At that moment A low ranking officer entered the bridge, running up to and saluting the admiral. "Sir, reports confirm, enemy fleet sunk with no casualties. The bombers are returning to base and all of the fighters have sucessfully landed on the ships." The Admiral returned tha man's salute. "It seems you are correct Lieutenant. Full speed ahead, all ships. but keep on the lookout, reports indicate a second enemy force may be inbound to challenge us. And dont forget to keep up the good work." "Yes Sir." The Ensign turned around and once again exited the bridge. Looking out over the Ocean the Keel forsaw a great victory for the Liberates.
President Cairo is sitting in his office reading the Neptune Inquirer when his secretary walks in with General Hegbunen.
"Sir, the general needs to speak to you. He had bad news".
The president glares at Hegbunen as the secretary walks out and demands "What the hell have you screwed up this time. I am starting to regret giving you this job. I will tell you this much - if you have stuffed up, I will have your head hanging on the wall".
The general responds "Sir, Huang base has been lost. No survivors and the actual facility has been captured by those assisting the rebels."
"WHAT" demands the president as he slams down his coffee mug spilling coffee on to his desk. "Have you contacted the UCTA to get them to retake the base?" The general looks blankly at the president given the disagreement he had had with the chief of the UCTA this morning "Sir, they refuse to carry any missions out until they are recognised as independent of the military"
The president then looks smugly at Hegbunen and says "Weinderberg has always be a problem, take care of him. I want him to be charged with treason against the nation. Do something about the base, destroy it if you must. You do have the capacity for that dont you?"
"Yes sir, we have around 55 aircraft here in Neptune City". The president responds "Use as many as is needed, now get to work".
Hegbunen leaves the castle and returns to his office in the defence towers, he orders that 10 B52s leave Neptune immediately to destroy the Huang base and anyone inside it. He further orders that Weinderberg be found and arrested and stresses at all costs he must be kept alive.
Within 25 minutes, the B52s are in range of the base.
In the forest...
Longhorn and his companions arrive at the rendevous point and see no sign of the Liberate forces. All that is sitting there is a lonesome APH01 transport helicopter. Longhorn asks if there is any sign of the Liberates in the area and is told they have been quite active. Longhorn requests to be returned to Elante City, where he can contact the Liberate government and obtain treatment for the commonwealth survivors.
Addressed to: The Commonwealth of De Vlaam se Leeuw
The Liberate government confirmed that its airforce attacked, and destroyed your naval presence in the waters near the nation of Magna Cartman. This act was committed in response to forces of your country's origin interfering in Liberate guerrilla maneuvers against Magna Cartman loyalists. The Liberate government will not be provoked in such a way and therefore issues a formal ultimatum. Withdraw all of your remaining forces from Magna Cartman, or suffer a full invasion of your homeland. You have 24 hours to respond.
President Hamilton read each of the comminiques from the two nations. Grinning slightly, the plan was working just as he had expected it to. Foolish commonwealth, how dare they further trifle with the Liberate operations on Magna Cartman. He did, however begin to realize the amount of political instability this could cause in the world if an explanation besides political conquest were not given. But then again, each of these nations were small, as long as he could maintain the support of Magna Cartman, and continue with the destruction of the commonwealth forces, only thne would the plan go perfectly....... He took out his pen.
Statement to the Commonwealth
From President Hamilton, ASLA
The Liberate government recognizes that they did not realize the intensity of its general's retaliation to the incident in the forest. We can assure you that an attack of such magnitide, the targeting of unarmed troop carrying ships was not authorized by Liberate high command. The Liberate government extends its apologies for the loss of your men and extends an offer. You may rejoin efforts to secure Magna Cartman, but may not operate in any perimeters which may interfere with Liberate operations. The Allied States does not wish a state of war between our people. Summary: With the Commonwealth out of the way and no threat of attack from them, it seems to be clear sailing from here all the way to their master objective, the political conquest of Magna Cartman. Their 5th fleet and 4th Expeditionary force are near the beach with all flags flying. Price, however, despite some early victories, is about to be in an undesirable position, as 5 Loyalist bombers are en route to destroy the base that they had just cleared. Will they be able to escape in time, or will they be forced to use captured enemy equipment to best defend themselves against the assault?
Equipment Captured by Price's men at Huang base:
50 Assorted types of pistols
20 RPG-7 Anti Tank rocket Launchers
10 Strela Anti-Aircraft missle launchers
Referrendum Day + 4
About 5 minutes from Huang Military Base
Captain Pritchard radios to the other 4 bombers to keep tight formation and to target the radar and fueling depot on the base. They fly at a relatively low altitude over the base and drop their missles. The radio lights up with chatter "Eagle 10, box 1"
They look back as they see the base in flames, mainly from the massive explosion from the fuel depot. Pritchard says "If we didnt kill all of them, we surely gave them the message that we mean business". Just as he ends his transmission, Eagle 12 is hit with an AAA from the base. Smoke plumes out of it's left turbine as it spirals towards the ground. The pilot recovers screaming "Eagle 12 has been hit, I confirm that is a hit on Eagle 12. Go back and finish that base, send for me later" 30 seconds later Pritchard enquires "12 have you landed safely?". "That is affirmative sir, send for me later. I will head toward Elante".
Pritchard comes back "That's a long walk son, but better than being shot by the enemy". Pritchard feels regret for having to leave one of his men stranded in the forest, but knows there is a job to be done. He radios Neptune base for a recovery unit to make it's way to find the pilot.
The F16s circle back and make a final bombing run at the base, this time finishing off the radar on the southern end of the base. They return to Neptune without incident.
In Sigma City
The riots continue, the rioters loot the gun and ammunition shops, arming themselves with weapons. They shoot any army personnel who get in their way. They make their way out of town towards the army's camp, torching any government buildings on the way.
When the 8,000 strong rioters get to the camp they are greeted with around 600 army soldiers. The 8,000 rioters are attacked with AK47s, grenades and tear gas, but despite losing half their contingent easily overpower the 600 soldiers. Some soldiers lie dead on the ground the others injured with little chance of getting help. Several crawl off toward the city, but the chance of getting help there is low also. Maybe they could contact the army's HQ at the defence towers in Neptune?
The rioters make their way into the camp and quickly locate the prisoners taken in the city. They free the prisioners from their cages where they were held and tortured like animals. They then loot the camp, obtaining much needed amunition and weapons to sell to the rebel forces before returning to the city.
8 of the injured soldiers find their way back toward the city, bunking down in an abandoned house on the outskirts of the city - they rip their clothing to make bandages for each other and the least injured sets out to find a telephone to call HQ. He walks for about 2 Km when he is spotted by a passing farmer, who offers to take him back to his farm where he can use his phone to call for help.
Presidential Castle, Neptune
President Cairo is in meeting with his most trusted advisors when he receives a phone call from General Stinson. He steps out for a minute to take the call in private. Stinson tells him "Sir, we believe the operation on Huang was successful, visuals indicate heavy damage with only one aircraft lost" The president asks "Was there a casultie in that loss?" Stinson replies "Only the aircraft, we are sending a recovery unit for the pilot"
The phone is quiet for a minute and he continues "The bad news is, the army camp in Sigma has been stormed and the personnel killed. We have around 400 men left in Sigma now. I suggest we withdraw at once." The president yells "Withdraw! Never we are not cowards, you will fight to the end, if those 400 are lost as well, so be it we can replace them. The rebels can not gain a stronghold on this nation, not now. We have broken an alliance, we will break their will also"
Stinson hastily replies "OK sir"
The president returns to his meeting and discusses what will be done with respect to the meeting with the Commonwealth delegate tomorrow. It will be the largest function ever held the president tells his advisors.
Price and his men hastily attempt to drag the equipment and supplies that they had pirated from the base into the nearby woodline at the North end of the base, not wanting any enemy flyovers to be able to destroy their newly aquired booty. The LAV-25s and BMP-3 are loaded full of ammunition and other pieces of equipment.
Once the task is done Price is able to hear the incoming aircraft....bombers. He knows their mission and even that they are B-52s, he had head enough of them to know. He ran to the woods where his contingent was waiting. He watched as the enemy missles demolished the much needed fuel depot and radar facility, but then something suprised him. A group of enemy F-16s appeared to have circled back to finish the job. He ordered his men to shoulder the Strelas and choose their targets. Then with a motion of his hand each of the 10 Anti-Air missles emerged from the woodline at full speed. One of the troops apparently chose one of the passing bombers as a target, and scored a lucky hit. Price watched the missles trail the enemy planes and prayed for a positive impact....
In the Seas off of MC
On the Carrier Alabama planes began to take off by the dozens, phase two of Keel's plan was about the be put underway. Achieve air superiority over the country and follow up with a beach landing. The massive LCDs moved into position to land on the Western coast of the mainland. Once all the aircraft had taken off, 150 XF-18s, they formed a giant wing and proceeded inland with orders to destroy all loyalist aircraft. In addition to the XF-18s 50 XG-25 Ground Attack aircraft joined in a separate wing with orders to drop their plasma charged napalm munitions on every loyalist position the encountered.
With the aircraft away the landers began approaching the beaches. due to their massive size they were armed each with two 10-inch guns to support to landing, in addition to 3 Anti-Aircraft missle batteries. they began to shell the beach with RAP rounds, now 20 miles out. Further away from the coast the Liberate destroyers launched some 30 cruise missles inland at predetermined target locations. It was the largest Liberate Amphibious Operation since the War in Narnia.
OOC: The F16s deployed earlier should have been B52s, as stated by the president. The number still stands at 5, in defiance of the president's order.
IC:
Neptune army base picks up a large number of enemy aircraft heading inland from the ocean. Immediately General Stinson is contacted and all bases are put on high alert.
Commander Wallace at Neptune orders that the 30 F16s and 25 B52s stationed at that base be deployed to intercept the incoming aircraft and to destroy what ever they came in on.
It is another 20 minutes before the first of them leave the ground. All but 10 F16s and 5 B52s get off the ground, when the enemy aircraft discovers the base, the grounded planes are shot and bombed, instantly destroying the planes and killing their pilots. The base is then under attack, some men stay put to man the AAAs, others use their riffles to shoot the planes while some just run for cover like cowards.
Fortunately only the air support depot, hangers, control tower and half of the barracks are destroyed, killing 3900 of the 7000 stationed at Neptune.
Only 50 of the 150 deployed XF-18s make their way towards Neptune base, the remainder continue to head together north-west. All 50 XG-25s attack the base.
Of the many many rounds of ammunition fired and AAA missles fired, only about 20 aircraft were shot down, some crashing into the fields around the base, some crashing into the streets of Neptune bursting into flames.
The 30 F-16s head on an intercept course towards the other aircraft, but the pilots are fully aware they are on a suicide mission, they can not possibly outgun the LA planes.
The B52s head out to sea, also to suffer the same fate as the F16s. The lead commander of the B52s - Commander Gerald says across the radio "Sons, we are heading for an honourable death, inflict as much damage in the time we have, we will not make it back that much is certain".
Summary:
The LA fleet is heading towards the region of Masterton and the military base located about 25 Km East on the edge of the desert.
Time until F16s intercept: 10 minutes
Time until B52s reach their target: 20 minutes
National address from President Cairo
The President ordered all television and radio networks to air the following early this evening. Sitting in his office with the MC flag behind him - dressed in full ceremonial attire he began his address.
[I]"Fellow Magna Cartians, as most of you are probably aware by now today has been a sad day in the history of this nation. The rebels in the south and west have accepted the help of an evil terrorist nation known as the Allied States of Liberated America. This nation has so far killed 6000 men from the Commonwealth of DHL, another former ally of the rebels".
"The ASLA has targetted loyalist targets across the north-east this afternoon and tonight. They have heavily damaged the Neptune Army Base with bombers, the defence towers with 3 cruise missles launched from sea and the weapons research centre in Jouan. Their aircraft are presently heading North-West and is being chased by our aircraft. A further 300 F16s will leave shortly bound for their location."
"We also have a number of B52s headed for their destroyer with orders to bomb at will. A further 150 will leave from various bases tonight with the same orders. The army has also been ordered to head to the Eastern side of Huang Forest and attempt to intercept landers headed for beaches in the area."
"The ASLA has no respect for life or their allies, as seen by their attack on the commonwealth. I wish to extend our nation's deepest symathies to the commonwealth during this time of mourning. I also will award the soldiers with the Beta Cross - the highest military award in this nation"
"I also wish for Vandermere Weinderberg to return to duty as soon as possible. All charges against you will be dropped if you and your UCTA return to work. Now is not the time for petty arguments"
"Further, I put on notice all 15-29 year old men who are not currently serving in the military that in accordance with the constitution national service will be resumed in the next few days. This clause has been ignored during my presidency but will now be invoked as your services are required. This should boost out military might substantially"
"I wish to ask for unity during this time and may we put our differences aside for the good of the nation. I also call on any nation in a position to provide assistance to please do so"
"Goodnight"
The Castle of the President
The presidential protection agents spot the plane land on the airstrip just outside the castle. They remain in their watch towers, jumping on the chain guns in case of trouble. Another in the monitoring room - a large room consisting of 50 monitors connected to some 300 cameras through out the complex radios through to the other agents and informs them that it is mister John Verhaegen from the Commonwealth.
Mr Verhaegen is ushered into the complex and told that it will take some time for him to get to the core. The large gates close behind him and he sees himself in a large grassy area, surrounded by a high wall. Off to the right he spots some large steel doors. One of the four large burly agents which are to usher him to the core of the castle politely tell him "Sir, are you aware that you are the first foreigner to ever enter these walls?". Mr Verhaegen replies "No, I am not". Another of the agents then tells him "Entry and exit into this castle is more secure than any of our prisons, you will go through another two of these before getting to the main doors. You will also notice our defences on this castle - this section has chain guns and rocket launchers on the walls - 100 meters apart, the next has AAAs and the final has a mixture of the lot"
Mr Verhaegen looks stunned, wondering why the castle is so fortified given the rest of the nation appears to be so lax on security.
Mr Verhaegen is led into the next area, where they wait for the giant doors to shut behind them before opening the next. The doors of the 3rd area close behind them and the main door to the castle is opened. Preisdent Cairo stands at the door with 2 protective agents and says "Welcome Mr Verhaegen, I am most pleased to be hosting you. May I show you to your room before your celebratory dinner tonight at 7 PM. We will start the work tomorrow, for tonight is your night my friend."
Mr Verhaegen smiles at the president and replies "Thankyou Mr President, you are most generous". The president then escorts Mr Verhaegen alone through the corridors to the room he is staying. The president tells him, he will arrange for some escorts to pick him up at 6:45PM to escort him to the banquet hall.
Mr Verhaegen relaxes in his large quarters watching the television until he showers and gets dressed for the banquet. The two escorts arrive exactly at the specified time and take him to the banquet hall. It is a large room, probably half the size of a stadium. On stage is a brass band playing the commonwealth's anthem. The chief of staff for the president Marie Smith asks the band to pause and announces "Please stand while Mr Verhaegen who hails from the Commonwealth of DeVlaamseLeeuw enters the banquet hall and takes his seat next to the president". The anthem starts over again as Mr DeVlaamseLeeuw makes his way to his chair and greets the president.
Cairo is dressed in full ceremonial uniform, which makes him look much larger than he actually is. Cairo extends his arms into the air and gives Mr DeVlaamseLeeuw a handshake before adorning him in a large sash. The sash is very ellaborate, studded with specs of gold and silver. Mr DeVlaamseLeeuw asks "What is this sash for?"
The president replies "The sash of honour, we wish to acknowledge the importance of this meeting". The men sit at the table as the President introduces his wife and children and then swap stories of their homeland.
Shortly after, the banquet arrives. It is massive, Mr DeVlaamseLeeuw almost looking horrified at the amount of food on the table. Even a dish of the commonwealth's delicacy is there - showing the staff have done their research.
The rest of the night is spent drinking Beta Bug Juice, chatting and dancing to the brass band.
The evening ends with a walk of honour, led by the president with Mr DeVlaamseLeeuw next to him. As the president returns him to his quarters he smiles and says "I look foward to our discussions tomorrow morning".
Mr DeVlaamseLeeuw stands in the corridor stunned at the extravagent banquet he was just invited to, further stunned by the hospitality of the president and his staff.
The count was confused when he heared about the banquet. As always, he was kept informed every day by the diplomate. How could there be enough money to pay for these kind of banquets, when there was a rebellion going on?
"Keep my informed," the count said still thinking deeply, "and don't promise any soldiers just yet. Although we can still send in about 70,000 men if we wanted, I'd much rather keep it at equipment and perhaps we can clear the air for them. But try to keep the promiselevel low. And stay out of trouble. If there is any problem, I'll send in the special forces."
And with that promise the count ended the communication.
In the skies over MC
The Liberate Air attack went extremely well in the first minutes of the attack. Many enemy planes had been destroyed even before they were able to leave the ground. Reports were coming in that they XF-18s and XG-25s had taken their enemy completely by suprise with little friendly casualties. Around twenty two Liberate aircraft had been downed, twenty from AAA emplacements, and two from enemy interceptor craft. Two pilots, however were the only true casualties as enemy missles sent their XG-25s directly into the ground before either man could deploy their chute. The twenty others landed safely and quickly found one-another to form two groups, one of 8 men, and one of 12. Each set up a perimeter in the nearby forest and awaited rescue. the men were each armed with a XM-8 Carbine, a .45 para-14 pistol, several rounds of ammunition, and two grenades each. Orders came in from fleet command to continue the attack, destroy any enemy targets on the ground and in the air, return to base only when out of ammunition.
Off the eastern coast of Magna Cartman
On the bridges of the Aegis cruiser and the two destroyers men ran about, as their radars had picked up the enemy air force coming in. All of the fleet's aircraft had been launched to support the invasion. Immediately the Aegis' Missle batteries and the destroyers' SAM and Phalanx batteries were targeted to the enemies' position. The Aegis was the first to fire, loosing a massive volley of 100 Anti-Aircraft missles towards the enemy wing. Then the destroyers pulled up, launching 10 missles each towards the enemy. once the SAMs were clear the destroyers trained their Phalanx batteries onto the enemy, prepared to down whomever survived.
The landing craft had finally hit the beaches of MC, their massiv doors opening to a ready invasion force. No man was out in the open as there were enough APCs for each platoon. The massive armored vehicles rolled forth onto the sands with continued support from the Landers. Upon sighting the enemy aircraft the landers' Anti-aircraft guns began to fire to put an impressive amount of AA into the sky. Once the entire landing force had been put ashore, they formed up and began to push inland towards Neptune City, their primary objective.
Captain Price and his Special Forces company, having taken no casualties as of yet, recieved word of the Landing and began pushing westward, to link up with the landing force.
Over the ocean East of MC
The B52s now within range of the Aegis cruiser begin their bombing run. The first missles launched are rounds of laser guided ACMs from the winds of the B52s. Each of these bombers have 10 sitting on their wing, the internal holds are empty. Only 4 are fired in each run.
The squadron leader Commander Gerald orders his pilots that if they are shot down to try and crash onto the Aegis cruiser, using their aircraft as a bomb itself.
On the first run 10 of the B52s are downed by the Aegis' SAMs. On the second run the remaining B52s are either hit by SAMs or fired down by the destroyers. 6 B52s land in the sea, the pilots who had ejected earlier did not survive, shot out of the air by the batteries.
During the boming, a disappointing 110 ACMs are deployed.
In the skies over MC
The intercepting force catches up to the LA squadron, a fire fight begins between the two sqauds. The 30 F16s are ordered by their commander to engage the enemy and fire at will. Many hundreds of rounds are fired on the enemy fleet.
Unbeknowns to the loyalists, a further fleet of 30 F16s and 17 AX97s have taken off from Mitchell base ordered to intercept the enemy craft.
In the seas on the eastern coast of MC
The enemy B-52s appeared to be simply cut to shreads by the Liberate Batteries. As it seemed a couple of the pilots even had the gall to attempt and fly their aircraft into the hull of the Aegis, but only succeeded in being fired upon by the radar guided phalanx battery long before they neared the cruiser. The Aegis, having 2/3 of its missile complement unspent, it launches all but 50 of its remaining 200 missles towards the incoming enemy missles, the destroyers retain the remainder of their SAM batteries in favor of putting 6 phalanx batteries fireing 5,000 rounds of 20mm ammunition in front of the incoming missles. The Aegis and the Phalanx has proven very deadly and accurate before, with no reason in sight which they should perform below par.
Inland, MC
On the ground the operation is going extremely well and even better in the air. According to incoming reports more enemy interceptors were attempting to wear down the Libertae Air fleet, but so far succeeded in downing only 2 additional Liberate XG-25s, with no news on the pilots. The 13th Naval Infantry division supported by the 1st Naval Armored division had pushed up through much of the wooded areas of MC, passing a few unoccupied villages on the way and meeting very little overall resistance. They had even recovered the 22 downed pilots from before, ready to be recycled into new aircraft in a couple of days. Everything was going smoothly for the Liberates, Neptune was nearly in sight.
In the skies over MC
Within 20 minutes from take-off, the small complement from Mitchell base locate and intercept the LA aircraft. The commander comes across the radio and instructs "Alright fellas, lets show this trash what we have. Know this.. If you die in battle you will die honourably for your nation"
With that the 30 F16s fly up behind the enemy craft and launch a barage of AAMs at the enemy planes. The AX97 attackers then attack with their 4mm cannons and show the enemy just how maneuverandable and powerful the attack choppers are. It soon turns to a large dogfight in the air, with ammunition headed in every direction.
In the forest near Neptune
The team of 4,000 troops from Marshall Bay base head into the forest in 20 tanks and APCs to search for the landing party. The men, heavily armed with AK47s, ZF001 pistols and grenades soon locate their enemy. The tanks open fire on the enemy personnel carrers with missles as the soldiers open fire on anyone who dares step out of the carriers.
As the sun begins to rise, the sky over the forest glows red with the launch of missles and the fire being exchanged between both sides.
Mayoral Residence, Elante City
Longhorn awakens to the lick of his dog Raphaelle's tounge on his cheek. The dog holds the daily newspaper in his mouth.
Longhorn pulls the paper out of Raphaelle's mouth, and places it on his bedside drawer. He goes to rollover and go to sleep when he sees on the front page - "LIBERATES ON THEIR WAY TO NEPTUNE". He immediately starts to read about the situation, obviously unaware as he missed the presidential address yesterday.
He contacts the Elante base, asking to speak to Ryker. The officer on duty says "This is Lieutenant Myan here, Ryker is not in yet. Can I assist you?"
Longhorn replies "Have we heard from the Liberates yet?" "No" replies Myan.
Longhorn instantly gets concerned, thinking about the message received from the commonwealth yesterday. He is worried that the Liberates may be trying to invade in this time of civil disturbance. He calls a meeting of his most senior advisors for 9 AM at Town Hall.
At the Presidential Castle
The president sits at the breakfast table in his dining hall pondering about the success of last night's banquet. He worries about the amount spent on the banquet, some 100 000 MBs, money that could have went to fighting the rebels. He then thinks, well the budget is fairly healthy at the moment and friendship with another nation is of importance at this time.
He thinks, "I hope I impressed Mr Verhaegen", he seems like a top guy. He can even drink me under the table, quite an amazing feat given that he has never had Beta Bug Juice before."
He then asks one of his guards to send the agenda for todays meeting to Mr Verhaegen. On the agenda is:
1. Dealing with the ASLA invasion
2. Reconciling with the rebels
3. Creating a diplomatic relationship with the commonwealth
The presidential secretary walks in with a report of the operation against the Liberates. He reads with dismay about the deaths of the pilots from Neptune base and orders his condolences and the Beta Cross to be sent to their families. He pauses for a moment thinking "Those B52 pilots must have suffered, they were probably shot into 100 little pieces". He contemplates how many will die today protecting the nation, although is a little more hopeful given the larger number involved.
The president finishes his breakfast and goes for his morning stroll through his garden alone.
IC: The Skies over MC
By now, the Liberate aircraft had become spread all over Magna Cartman. Many had begun returning to their mother carriers for Refuel and Rearm. Most of the GX-25s had returned to Liberate soil, assisted by in-air refueling craft to get all the way back. there remained only about 75 XF-18 strike aircraft in the skies over MC, many of these were fully-loaded as they had just come back from the carriers. On the site the enemy aircraft struck there were only around 30 Liberate XF-18s on the scene. They were taken partially by suprise as the enemy used many of their missles in one large volley against them. The wing of XF-18s quickly dropped a stack of flares and chaff to confuse as many missles as possible, then stood their planes straight up. After reaching almost-stalling heights the planes then flew streaight at the reamining enemy missles, changing course just before impact to avoid a hit. This tactic worked well but not for 2 pilots, whom were hit by the enemy volley and went down in flames.
The Liberates were also a tad suprised at the inclusion of attack helicopters in this mix of enemy aircraft. Employing helicopters against Interceptor aircraft was a dangerous game. Outnumbered, but not outgunned the Liberates immediately dragged the battle in one direction, away from the large number of choppers. Those 40mm cannons could tear up an aircraft, but not if they were out of range. XF-18s ganged up on enemy aircraft, one from topside, and once from their 6. This two on one approach was good because if one missle missed as a result of flares, the other would probably score a hit.
1. Yes you do use F-22s and they are one of the most advanced fighters atm, but this modern tech RP should range up to 2010 tech. I was also speaking of MC's F-16s, not your F-22s, whom were outnumbered about 13 to 1.
2.I wasnt talking about your plane detecting mine, i was atalking about MC stating my losses and actions of my aircraft.
3. You did not say your SAM fired upon my bombers, only that they fired upon the missles. And seeing that a far outnumbered and outgunned enemy force made such a suicidal counterattack,you should not expect to do much more than you did.
4. No my men did not bring the launchers with them when they jumped, they were able to salvage them from the wreck, as i posted they did. Pay more attention before making any more remarks about how impossibly wrong i must be.
In the skies over MC
The air battle is fierce, yet only 10 F16s and 12 attack coppers come down. The fate of the pilots is unknown. The surviving aircraft return to Mitchell base to resupply and to plan the next attack.
During debriefing several pilots noted hearing the Liberates calling the deployment of attack helicopters "foolish and dangerous". The group chucked to themselves then the commanding officer claimed "They might not be as fast as an interceptor but at least they will out manuvour it".
The pilots discuss the possibility of bringing in more aircraft to counter the invasion, but the CO says he would need higher level authorisation.
At Tullamore Base, Central MC
Lieutenant Freyer is eating lunch in the mess hall with his fellow soldiers when he is interrupted by his secretary. She tells him that he is required in his office as there is a priority message from General Stinson.
He retuens to his office and accepts the message. "General what may I do for you?" he enquires. Stinson replies "John, we need to do something to take out those bastard Liberates, what do you have out that way?"
The Lieutenant replies "I have around 10,000 men, large number of tanks and some mobile truck based SSMs". Stinson replies "How long would it take to deploy half your capacity?" The Lieutenant responds "A few hours at the least." Stinson requests that the preperationg begin immediately.
Freyer commands his men to prepare for battle with the Liberates. The men, mostly young rush around the base in excitement for some "action".
The Presidential Castle, MC
The president sits in the conference room alone when his social co-ordinator, Maree Yukohan enters. She tells him "I am sorry to be the one to tell you but the commonwealth delegate has been recalled. He has already left for his homeland". Cairo obviously annoyed stands up walks over to Maree and yells "Why the hell was I not informed of this earlier. You are an incompetent fool. It is your job to advise me of such things in a timely manner"
Maree replies "But, but, but sir.... I am sor..." "SILENCE, no excuses, get out of my sight" replies Cairo. Maree begins crying as the president escorts her out of the room.
In the skies over MC
The air battle was fierce for how long it lasted, a mere fifteen minutes. The enemy was sucessful is downing an additional three Liberate XF-18 strike fighters. The entirety of the Liberate Air force was recalled to their carriers for re-arm, re-fuel, and re-grouping. Once the fighters had returned to their carriers it was found out that from the full contingent of 150 aircraft which had been sent out twenty-two of them had been shot down, not too bad for the amount of enemy machinery and personel that they had killed. The remaining 128 aircraft were anxiously coming in to prepare for another assault. Half of the aircraft would be ready to go again in three hours, the full force in six.
Reports were also coming in to fifth fleet that fourty Liberate XF-120 Stealth Strike Bombers were en-route from AFB "Lambda" to drop GPS-guided munitions onto enemy positions around MC, particulary against the defence towers at Neptune, at which 10 of the 160 Plasma charged bombs that the planed carried were targeted.
Fifty Miles inland of MC
When the land force was attacked they were fully aware of the incoming enemy forces, as the Aegis cruisier's radar detected over 100 armored contacts coming in towards their position. Without wasting a moment The Stryker APCs quickly fell in behind the G-5 Spartan tanks and deployed their infantry to defensive positions. As the enemy forces approached the 200 Spartans targeted their Armored vehicles with Sagger 2 Anti-Tank guided munitions using target information sent from the Aegis cruiser. The missles fired by the tanks had a much longer range than the 120mm gun which the Spartan carried. Once the missles were spent Liberate forwards positions called for Naval artillery support from the Hades cruisers, whom launched a total of twenty Cruise missles to bombard the enemy flanks. The 500 Strykers fired upon the opposing forces with their assorted armaments including .50 caliber machine guns, 155mm Mobile guns, and 30mm Cannons. Supporting Naval infantry launched Javelin anti-tank missles against the enemy armor before following up with a devestating barrage of Mortars and 40mm grenades. Price and his Special Forces COmpany recieved orders to disrupt enemy logistics and leadership by infiltrating their supply lines, laying Anti-vehicle mines on major roads, and killing enemy officers.
50 miles inland from the Eastern Coast, MC
The ground battle was a slight disappointment to the loyalist effort. While only 10 tanks were destroyed, 506 men made the greatest sacrafice for their country. Nobody, not even Major Arish expected the bombardment from the sea. When it began, they started to fall back to the location in which their supplies were meant to meet them.
Upon arriving at the supply rendevous point, the men noticed that they were there alone, with little food, water and ammunition. Arish immediately radioed through to Marshall Bay to question why the supply vehicles had not arrived. The private in the communications room responded "Sir, Supplies have informed me that only 3 unescorted trucks were dispatched to your location".
Arish responds "You have to be joking arent you. God knows who ambused the supplies - the Liberates or rebels. Fine, we will make do on our own, but warn supplies that who ever ordered this will be reported to General Stinson".
Arish sits in the dirt looking puzzled for a minute, he then pulls out his map. He noticed that he was only around 75 Km from Tullamore. Arish ordered his men to proceed to Tullamore to resupply and then go back into battle.
Tullamore Base, MC
Freyer prepares 5,000 of his men, 400 tanks, 35 mobile SSM launchers, 250 transport vehicles and the support vehciles to make the voyage to the enemy's location. Some of his men are clearly nervous, this being the first time they have ever seen combat. Those who are left at the base are ordered to prepare to get ready as they will be required to relieve the first company.
The convoy leaves Tullamore, bound for the enemy's location. Their intention - to engage the enemy, inflict damage and then use the SSMs to bombard the fleet off the coast.
Mitchell Base, MC
The order comes in for Mitchell to dispatch the best aircraft it has available to bombard the enemy landing party and to inform the CO that only 3 of the pilots who were downed during the fire fight have been found alive.
15 M-SU35s with their 30 mm cannons and loaded with their full complement of 12 ASMs take off from the base, ths rare sight of them actually out of their hangers bringing a smile to the faces of the ground crew. One of them muttering to another "Wow, they are bringing out the big guns now, next the new MF22s will come out"
The SU35s locate the invading ground force well before the loyalist team is near. They begin their bombardment of the Liberate landing party - dropping their ASMs targeting the tanks and APCs. They then circled and came back for another run, this time firing their cannons at the ground invasion force. Happy with their results, they return to base for a resupply and for their next assignment.
The Defence Towers, MC
The twin 50 storey high Defence Towers in Neptune (home of the MC Military Command) had little defences of it's own in light of the recent bombing on it, which took out it's SAMs.
The loyalists, having been advised that Liberate XF120s were inbound ordered that they be intercepted by 35 F18s from Marshall Bay. The defence towers were evacuated and 10 soldiers stationed on 20 floors, mid way up the building with their mobile anti-aircraft rocket launchers hung out the windows.
President Cairo sits in his conference room at the table with 20 of his most trusted advisors. The discussion focuses on what to do with the Liberate invasion.
It is decided that given the inaction of the rebels over the past 2 days that military withdrawl should occur in the rebel regions. Cairo tells the group "We are best off spending our resources on defeating the invaders, it is pointless in wasting manpower on a few pathetic rebels when we have this crisis looming".
They also decide that they will begin conscription of 18-29 year old men who are not in the rebel regions. This is expected to increase the military's strenght by some 200 000 men to be trained around the nation.
Elante City Town Hall
Mayor Longhorn receives reports from Ryker that soldiers are retreating in all rebel regions. Longhorn describes this as "The first victory for the rebels". Not knowing the true reason for the withdrawl he brags to the other mayors of this great victory.
The landing force was sucessful in defeating the enemy force within a couple of hours, while sutaining minimal casualties of their own. The Liberate commanders were a bit suprised at destroying so few enemy armored vehicles since it seemed that the enemy employed fourty-year old Sheridan tanks. Aside from this they were satisfied and continued on. From the carriers 75 XF-18s were dispatched to provide much needed air cover just around the time the enemy SU-35s began strafing and bombing their positions. Luckily very few of the line was exposed to enemy air fire, the others had taken dfensive positions in a nearby woodline, as the Aegis discovered the enemy planes long before they reached the Liberates. Many soldiers on the ground shouldered their M85 "CounterStrike" Ground to air missles and targeted the enemy planes, loosing their ordinance into the afternoon sky. The XF-18s arrived on the scene rather quickly, just in time to engage a few of the remaining enemy aircraft. Despite their efforts a further 4 G-5 tanks were lost, and 32 troops were killed. The Liberates cut their losses and began a double time advance towards the remaining enemy forces, which had been located by the Aegis radar.
Price and his men recieved further orders to attempt to retrieve support from nearby rebel forces in the area. They set out on a search for any help they might find.
In the skies near neptune
Only three of the XF-120 stealth aircraft were heading towards Neptune city to strike the Defence towers with their complement of 12 Plasma Charged bombs. Aegis radar reported that enemy aircraft had been dispathed to their position, telling the Liberate command that the plan was going well and the enemy had only detected a small portion of the stealth planes which had entered MC airspace.
The munitions which these aircraft carried were a bit like a mini nuclear bomb, without any of the fallout. Its plasma charged explosive was capable of leveling several hundred spare yards of forest in a single blast. It would take only once of the bombs to hit its mark to mark the end for the center in Neptune City.
Each of the fourty aircraft neared their designated targets, the three en-route to Neptune recieved orders to drop their decoy missles and fire them over enemy positions. The decoys would give the enemy the illusion of an aircraft fly-by, paving the way for the XF-120s to drop their bombs and dip out of the area without ever being seen. The other XF-120s had targeted various airbases and army installations located around the country in an effort to cripple the loyalist forces and create a window for the rebels to make their move.
A few moments after the decoys were fired, reports came in the HQ that all of the aircraft had sucessfully released their munitions to their targets, and were on the way home. They were given orders to climb to maximum operable altitude of eighty-eight thousand feet and begin the return flight home.
Within an hour of the air bombardment, in which 3 SU35s were lost due to ground missles and another 4 lost due to being engaged by the XF-18s, the ground force from Tullamore locates and engages the enemy force.
The battle is fierce, the sheridans engage first, getting close enough to the enemy's tanks and APCs to fire their M81s at them, quite a few of the Sheridans are expected to be lost given the more advanced technology employed by the enemy. They then use their deadly 152mm cannon to fire upon the enemy forces.
The infantary wait about 1 Km back for the enemy to bail out of their APCs so they can move in and begin their firefight.
In the skies near Neptune
6 SU35s take off from the base at Marshall Bay with orders to intercept and destroy the enemy XF-120s bound for Neptune. The command believes that only 6 SU35s will be needed to destroy those bound for Neptune.
From Mitchell base, 35 F-16s take off into the horizon bringing the total number of aircraft hunting for the XF120s to 76, now clearly marked by the setting sun. They set off to attempt to locate the incoming XF120s.
The cocky pilots believe that if they find the XF-120s they can force them down with little damage to themselves. This clearly shows the lack of combat in MC over the last 50 or so years.
The soldier on the graveyard shift in the control tower at Marshall Bay notices several strange aircraft on his MCORN radar to the north (this is like the Australian JORN radar network). He calls the duty officer, Captain Wilkes to ask what should be done.
Wilkes, in bed after a hard day of preparing the supplies vehicles is shocked to be awoken by the phone "Sir, this is Urunga in the tower, we have a large number of aircraft coming in from the North". Wilkes orders "Those are probably from Swintopia, wait for them to come into communications range and contact them".
It is another 40 minutes before the aircraft appear on the regular radar. Urunga calls them and they verify that yes, it is the Swintopian aircraft. Urunga orders the delegate to proceed to the airstrip at the presidential castle, and once this occurs for the escorts to land at Marshall Bay. He says, if bodyguards are required at the castle, then a select number of soldiers may be escorted there by AX97.
The jet lands at the castle just before dawn and R.B. Kempers is ushered into the castle to meet President Cairo. The two sit in the dining hall for several hours getting aquainted with themselves. "Let us pause for a minute to think about the sacrafice made by Mayor Chumaton, murdered by the government". The crowd goes quiet for 2 minutes in utter respect for Chumaton.
Gen. Vandermere Weinderberg calls President Cairo on the emergency communicator. Cairo answers "Name, Agency, Rank, ID" The general responds "Vandermere Theodore Weinderberg, United Cartman Terrorist Agency, General and Chief of agency, UC00029".
Cairo yells "Weinderberg, where the hell have you been?" The general replies "Trying to determine what we should do, I am sick of arguing with those military losers, they have no idea how to run a special operation just screw things up". Cairo sympathetically says "I understand your loss, I seem to forget that even though UCTA is large, most of the guys are pretty close, especially the sqadron leaders to yourself. In anycase, we will do something about that once the war is over. Moving control of UCTA will require a lot of work, but I do it."
Weinderberg asks "May the UCTA be reinstated for duty". Cairo replies "Yes, you will be assigned a mission by myself personally. I will call you when I have determined it"
At the presidential Castle, Neptune
Following the call with General Weinderberg, President Cairo calls in three of his advisors, his constitutional advisor, legal advisor and military advisor. He asks the group "Is there any legal way I can have the army chief and UCTA report directly to me, essentially seperating the two arms?" THe constitutional advisor responds "The military structure is defined in the constitution - each military arm must have a chief who reports to the military chief who reports to you". The legal advisor states "The selection of these people however is covered by the National Defence Act, which states they can be fired at anytime. The president selects the person that replaces them at a time suitable to him"
The president inquires "Who takes Hegbunen's place if I fire him?" The defence advisor replies "I will need to look at that" the others shake their head.
The president demands that this be made a priority.
As the advisors leave his office, he asks the secretary to deliver a note to R.B. Kempers. This note contains:
Feron, The Government Seat of Swinotopia
Chairman Bors ponders in his room thinking of how he could use the winning hand of the rebels and LA to his hand in the opcoming diplomatic negotions.
He calls his Generals: J. Drenth and J. Bizon to his room.
''Jim, Joost how ready are our troops? and how many do we send?"
Jim:" I think that we need to call to arms about 300000 soldiers armed with AK-74's and vehicles . And we can get them ready quik enough.
Chairman:" Joost?"
Joost:" I agree."
Bors dimisses the generals and tells them he agrees. Then he received the messages from Cairo and R.B Kempers.They inform him of the situation and he writes the following back to the delegate:
"Kempers you most not make any promises about future relations.
And if he asks a reason for our help just say something like don't you need it or that we will protect nations from the exploiting of other nations. Butt you can make promises about the troops we will send about 300000 soldiers plus equipment. So say we are going to send 50000 at first with no equipment.
Try to sqeuze the most out of the Dictator and succes with the negotiations!"
Chairman Bors
He also send a note to the President that he is pleased that the delegate arrived.
The Chairman weary lays his head down on his favorite chair and returns to the issue's in the country.
In the skies over MC
The bombing was an apparent success. Currents reports stated positive impacts on all targets with no casualties so far. Each of the XF-120s began their return flights home as instructed, climbing to their cieliings of close to ninety-thousand feet. These planes were capable of near-hypersoar altitudes for a short period of time if they were to be threatened by hostile action. The Aegis began to pick up aerial contacts which appeared to be searching for the bombers. The information was relayed to the pilots, who were ordered to proceed to one-hundred and twenty thousand feet until feet wet, then refuel and continue the flight back to Lacin. The full Liberate fleet of 128 XF-18s were put on high alert, and 70 were dispatched to engage enemy aircraft in the air over MC. Since the enemy air fleet was so spread out in their attempt to locate the high-flying bombers, it would be easy for the concentration of Liberate planes to pick out and eliminate pockets of resistance. Air superiority must be maintained.
One-Hundred and Eight miles inland of MC
The task force, now codenamed "Tiger" had made some significant advances in the past couple of days, word around the different units was that they were nearing the end of their campaign, and that as soon as the enemy's capital city was secure, they could go back to their homeland.
It was now mid-late afternoon when they heavily defended column came to a sudden halt at the edge of a woodline. It seemed that forward observers and satellite recon photos reported a large number of enemy troops moving their way. The acting commander of Tiger was Brigadier General James Benson. He decided that the Liberates would make their stand here. Calling a short meeting from his sub-ordinate officers he laid out his battleplan. Beyond the woodling lay several hundred yards of bare open ground, a perfect killing field from the Liberate defensive position in the woods. A bridge lay beyond the field in a small wooded area joining two sides of a large river, a perfect choke point once the enemy was routed from the field. Benson ordered his men to establish defensive perimeters and contruct works in the woodline.
Infantry dug trenches and layed out sandbags along the edges of the woodline, barbed wire was also strung in the field to deter enemy infantry. Heavy machine guns, including the devastating 20mm OCSW which was capable of piercing an advancing APC or Sheridan, were placed at strategic points to cover every possible lane of fire along the field. The 155mm Stryker Mobile guns were set up in cleared areas in the woods to provide maximum support to the defenders on the frontline. TOW missile launchers were set up behind works to knock out enemy armored vehicles as they entered a crew's field of vision. The enemy Sheridans would have to cross at least one half of the field the be able to fire their 152mm demolition cannons at the Trench lines, but Spartan Sagger 2s and the asonishing number of infantry carried anti-tank weaponry said that would not happen. It was a very well defended area, supplied with some of the world's finest troops, and combined with some of the most advanced Air Superiority fighters, the day was almost already won.
In the seas off of MC
The order came from Liberate command for an immediate blockade of the small nation of Magna Cartman in order to immediately deter any more support from outside nations to the loyalists. The Liberate 3rd and 8th fleets had been dispatched to fill this role. Task Force Cheetah had also been dispatched to reinforce the Liberate ground forces on MC. The 3rd and 8th fleets, and Task force Cheetah consist of the following:
Liberate 3rd and 8th fleets consist of ---
2 "Zeus" class SuperNuclear Aircraft Carriers manning 75 Planes and 10 Helicopters each.
2 "Loki" class Anti-Missle cruisiers carrying 300 Missles each.
5 "Thor" class Nuclear Submarines carrying 100 torpedoes and 15 Plasma charged nuclear ICBMs each.
4 "Hades" class Destroyers carrying 40 "Lancer" Long Range Missles each.
15 "Posiedon" class Patrol craft carrying 10 Torpedoes each.
All boats excluding Posiedon equipped with Phalanx Anti Missle system.
Liberate Task force Cheetah consists of ----
4 "Hestia" Class Light Carriers manning 20 planes and 4 helicopters each.
2 "Hades" Class destroyers carrying 40 "Lancer" Long Range missles each.
10 "Posiedon" class Patrol craft carrying 10 torpedoes each.
10 "Apollo" Class transport ships carrying 300 Naval Infantry, 50 APCs, and 20 MBTs each.
OOC: Thought you must have decided to call it quits. In any case, WB.
IC:
Neptune City
The bombing in Neptune went quite well for the Liberates, to the dismay of the loyalist forces. The interceptors easily located the enemy aircraft thanks to MCORN, but they went to a higher altitude than the loyalists could go.
The men stationed in the defence towers, hanging out of the windows with their anti-aircraft missles shot hundreds of missles into the air and according to Liberate sources had no real effect.
The Western Defence tower came down first, almost level to the ground, the Eastern tower soon followed. Most of the buildings in the surrounding 2 blocks also were leveled, killing many army men and thousands of civilians. The count will continue for many days.
The interceptors then joined in the hunt for the other Liberate aircraft. It was not terribly hard until MCORN went down, one of the stations bombed by the Liberates.
47 of the 76 airborne aircraft flown by the loyalists receive the last known co-ordinates of the enemy squadron from emergency command. They head on in intercept course, ready for battle.
The 29 remaining craft, head for the edge of the woods where the Liberate ground forces are bunked down.
180 miles inland
The Tullamore platoon receive information from the emergency command of the location of the Liberate ground troops. They head to the location and begin bunkering down, just out of view of the Liberates.
The men build bunkers, the tanks then sit behind that, the mobile SSMs behind that. They play a game of "duck hunt", waiting for their attackers to advance towards their position.
Freyer receives word on his radio that they will soon be backed up with another 3,200 men from Wuntana in a few hours. They are advised to stand their ground until then.
Earlford Bay Base
Earlford Bay prepares for the departure of 4 "Odessey" class cruisers (US: Ticonderoga), 2 "Hellfreeze" class destroyers (similar to DDG 51) and 2 "matriculator" attack submarines with their missle bays fully loaded.
They head out to intercept the enemy fleet so as to punch a hole so the Swintopians can get through.
OOC: Sorry Swintopia, I missed that part of the thread.
IC:
The Presidential Castle, Neptune City
The president sits in the conference room, waiting for Kempers to arrive. He ponders about what could possibly be holding Kempers back and then thinks the worst - "Perhaps Swintopia too is going to withdraw support, just like DWL did".
Mr Kempers arrives around 15 minutes late and sits down at the large table opposite President Cairo. Only the two men are in the room. Cairo tells the delegate "I prefer negotiations and discussions to be made between myself and the other party, with no snivelling advisors to get in the way.". Kempers nods indicating that he understands.
President Cairo then asks "What form of military support do you wish to offer?" --waits for answer--
"We would like for your men to land at our base at Marshall Bay, this will afford you the most protection" "We have noticed that LA seems to think they can blockage the small nation, well it isnt that small. Obviously their poor satellites are shoeing the wrong pictures". Cairo laughs for a moment.
"We will deal with their blockade. I underestimated them to begin with, but now understand they are nott to be triffled with".
"How long can you offer this support?" --Wait for reply--
"Can we use this to forge a relationship into the future?" --Wait for reply--.
OOC: I dont know the protocol for doing these meetings in NS, so if this is wrong, someone please let me know.
Kempers was silent for a long time thinking about the questions to answers that lay before him and the consequences if he fails in the eyes of the chairman then he started to speak:
"I will anwser your questions with more questions and some answers.
What for support do you need me and our great chairman thought about 50000 soldiers armed with M-16's?
We agree to the landing spot and expect that the way will not be heavily gaurded. Asng as the needed to keep your nation safe from the threat it is opposed by.
Future relations are not important right now what is, is the fact that we need financiël support to cover the cost of the operation."
Said the delegate with a grin.
President Cairo respond's to the delegate's conversation.
"Mr Kempers, we would be more than happy with your 50,000 troops armed with M-16s. We would also be happy to supply them with any additional weapons they need whilst they are here"
"I also wish to thank your great nation for committing to staying as long as you are needed, you shall be a true friend of Magna Cartman and when we are victorious, your name shall be said throughout history"
"How much financial support do you have in mind?"
Elante City Town Hall
Mayor Longhorn stands just outside of his press room in front of the mirror brushing his hair. He walks inside and addresses the waiting press - a rather formal approach given that most have been done on the steps.
"I wish to announce that the other democratic supporting mayors and myself will be holding a summit in Astron City to sdiscuss what form the democratic New Magna Cartman will take. We are going to try and come up with some options and eventually put it to the public to pick one."
"I will now answer 5 questions"
Michelle Planta from MCNN asks "Do you currently have an idea in mind?"
Longhorn replies "Thankyou Michelle, actually I do, I would like to see a ceremonial president, elected by the people with a bi-lateral parliament. He who has the majority of support in the lower house of parliament would be invited by the president to form the executive government"
William Saxby from the MC Observer asks "How long would this president and parliament be in office"
Longhorn replies "Thanks William, that is a most interesting question. I envisage that the president would be elected for 3 years, the lower house - 3 years and the upper house 6."
Gemaine Carlingford from Radio Elante asks "Why do we not return back to a monarchy like we had 100 years ago?"
Longhorn replies "There are problems with a monarchy, just the same as we have now. If someone does a poor job how do we get rid of them? Secondly, the monarchy we had was no different to our presidential system - we had a King who made all national decisions, and mayors who were given the position for life by the King to decide for the regions"
Thomas Greenwood from Channel 42 asks "Mr Longhorn, do you believe that the possibility of a new president every 3 years is unstable?"
Longhorn chuckles to himself then replies "Thomas, look at some of the greatest nations in this world. Do you see them facing the problems we have. Now last question."
Winston Rogers from the Political Post asks "Mr Longhorn, have you considered the political impact if other regions besides those that have voted do not chose this democracy. "
"That one is simple, we make our own nation. Thanks for coming in today, I appreciate your time."
That the already where pleased with that number, he thought.
Butt suddenly he realised that they drasticly needed support so he still could get an upper hand in the diplomatic conversation.
So he started his reply:
"We are thinking of 800000 Swinion Euro's for the troops metiont, butt we will be able to send a much larger force with about 75000000 Swinion Euro's." he said with a much larger grin on his face.He contineud: Butt if our suppurt isn't needed... we will withdraw our offer.
Cairo seemed stunned at Kempers response. He thinks to himself "Are the Swinotopians really trying to help or are they attempting to profit from a difficult situation."
Cairo asks "May I be excused for a moment". He leaves the room to go to his office to revise the dossier on Swinotopia. He notices their healthy economy, but their lack of financial support for the military in comparison to Magna Cartman. He thinks to himself "Perhaps their military does need the money, well let's see what these increased forces are"
Cairo returns to the conference room and tells Kempers "I just had to go to the bathroom, Beta Bug Juice sure does that to you". Cairo has a little chuckle then asks "Say if I were to give you this 75 million Swinon Euros - what exactly would I get?" Cairo waits for his response.
Magna Cartman News Network
"This is Kevin Shoboggin, for Magna Cartman News Network. We are here in downtown Neptune, hardly recognisable since the Liberate bombing earlier today. There are litterally thousands of police, fire, ambulance and civilians trying to locate survivors, so far to little real effect".
"I have with me, Mr Ricardo Selmer, chief of operations here today - Ricardo how many survivors have you found so far?"
Ricardo responds: "We have rescued about 500, but sources around Neptune in the hospitals claim that some 2800 have walked in off the street with injuries relating to the bombing."
Kevin asks: "How many dead are there?"
Ricardo responds: "It is far too early to tell, and we may never know especially the poor soldiers in the towers at the time. THere are literally parts everywhere. It is sickening. Initial estimates are at about 9000, mainly civilians from the blocks surrounding the towers. The towers themselves were quite empty before the bombing."
Kevin says: "Thanks for your time Ricardo, I should let you get back to work. Tensions are beginning to boil over here in Neptune as people begin to lay blame for the attack - many blame Liberated America, others are blaming the rebels, who invited them to come here and help."
"Many of the civilians helping here have vowed to take the lives of those responsible. Here are the comments of Pauline Winformin earlier today"
**Scenes of a tall woman standing admist the rubble**
"Take notice of this Liberate scum, the Magna Cartman people will not take this rubbish. We will not submit to your invasion nor your evil ways. We would rather die killing each of your men that step foot on our land than live under your rule."
"Also Longhorn, you started this - you will die too. How could you kill innocent men, women and children?"
**Back to the reporter**
"As you can see, some are very passionate about bringing those responsible to justice. So far the government has not made a response, but we believe they are in negotiations with other nations to flush the Liberes out of the country."
**Views of footage from Elante City**
"We have also seen a massive number of people outside Elante City's Town hall protesting against the bombing. Many are screaming murderer. Many knew people who are missing from the bombing. Many say that democracy should bring freedom and security, but so far it has caused nothing but pain"
**Back to Neptune views**
"We will continue coverage of this disaster for the next few days at least.
Magna Cartman
The 3rd and 8th fleets are pulled back to their mother ports, along with Task force tiger. The invasion of Magna Cartman had been cancelled. The 5th fleet's Apollo landing craft patiently waited ashore for the men of the 4th expeditionary force to return. Price and his team maneuvered their way through dense forest around enemy positions to a waiting CH-53 helicopter, which took them back to Liberate soil. Once the entirety of the 4th expeditionary force had been loaded back onto the Apollos they turned around and rejoined the 5th fleet. Under heavy air cover the fleet of ships lumbered away from Magna Cartman. The only thing they left for the loyalists was a single captured soldier, who was horribly maimed and barely alive, and a note. The note read, "Остерегайтесь ваших действий, Cairo." This translates into, "Beware your actions, Cairo." . The Liberates had decided that they had bigger problems to worry about. Perhaps they would return, but for now, Longhorn was on his own.
Mika Hegbunnen storms through the door whilst Cairo and Kempers are in the middle of the discussions. Cairo stands up, bolts towards the general, grabs him by the throat and pins him against the wall. He yells "What the hell are you doing? I am so fed up with your insolence it is not funny. You are so close to me throwing you in the croc infested Winston River it is not funny. What is so important it could not have waited?"
Hegbunen, obviously shaken reports "I thought you might like to know that the Liberates have retreated. For what reason we dont know why. They left us a injured soldier and a note - watch your actions, Cairo"
Cairo says "I do not think we are safe yet. You never know what to expect from them. I want you to contact Weinderberg and instruct him that I want Longhorn captured. You are dismissed Hegbunen"
Hegbunen leaves the room, and Cairo returns to his seat and continues negotiations with Kempers.
He asks "Do you think it wise to send your entire military over here?"
He then responds "I think we will be happy with your first offer, with your permission we can put your men on standby. I think things will be quiet here for a little while. The Liberates have withdrawn and the Liberate bombing seems to have the rebels concerned. Between you and I, I am going to send the UCTA into Elante, so that may cause some violence"
UCTA Emergency Command, Western MC
Gen. Vandermere Weinderberg is in a meeting with his most senior agents when the telephone rings. He answers it to discover General Hegbunen is on the line.
"Weinderberg, I am relaying an order from the president himself, he wants your agency mobilised to capture Longhorn"
Weinderberg asks "Are the UCTA the only ones involved. If so can I get a 100% guarantee that you will not order the army in. If you do I will have you killed"
Hegbunen responds "I should have you court marshalled for that, how dare you threaten me. Do your job now, or I will have you arrested"
Weinderberg laughs then says "I dont be thinking so" before hanging up.
By this time, his agents are in fits of laughter, obviously guessing who their General was talking to. He tells them "I want 40 men to go to Elante and capture Longhorn. He must be kept alive at all costs, the only problem is - where do we put him once we have him?"
Agent Tyiner replies "Why do we not use a military installation somewhere, it's secure and safe"
Weinderberg replies "I would much prefer that he is kept somewhere completely under our control. Perhaps we could use some of our men to guard a police station somewhere. Given that we control the police forcem surely we could get him into a loyalist region and lock him down there."
Agent Raquil says "How about Uverson, it's a small town in the Huang Region. Very small population with a police station with holding cells, plus I know the Sergeant there. I am sure I could arrange something"
Weinderberg replies "Alright, you get on it, we must get there soon after we capture him though - make sure nobody knows what is going on and secondly - that at least 30 agents can guard it. Drenford - I want your team to carry the mission out. I will arrange transport forthwith."
Weinderberg leaves the meeting and returns to his office. He calls Earlford Bay and requests that a T-32 transport aircraft arrive at 1900 to pick up the agents.
he then contacts his agents in Neptune and asks them for some suitable transport from Neptune to Elante.
He calls Agent Drenford in and informs him of the mission "You are to board a T-32 at 1900 hours, take the 3000 Km flight to Neptune, which will take three and a half hours. I have arranged for some of our agents to transport you from the airport at Neptune to Elante. I am unsure how this is goinh to occur right now, but I am hoping it is discreet and therefore, so you will probably be traveling the Capital Highway, this will take a further 8 hours of your time. I am sorry I couldn't get you too much closer to Elante on the plane, but I'm hoping if there are rebels monitoring that they lose you at the airport."
Weinderberg pauses for a moment to sip his water. He then continues [I]"I am hoping you will arrive in Elante at around 0400 hours. Try and get some sleep somewhere along the line and probably some more when you arrive. I want the mission carried out at about 0730, no later. I will arrange transport from Elante and will have to adivse you of this at a later time, it is still in the works."
Drenford nods his head indicating that he understands his mission, then leaves to brief his men. They are eager to get to work...
Around ruins of the Defence Towers, Neptune City
As the blanket of darkness falls over Neptune, the rescue attempts continue. More and more bodies are retrieved, less survivors.
At last count - 664 had been found alive, transported to hospitals around the north-eastern regions of the nation. A sad 2378 found dead and the search is nowhere near complete.
There are scenes of relatives and friends - running around totally lost and disoriented looking for any sign that their loved ones are still alive. The police, fire and ambulance work frantically to find any survivors. Civilians have left work to join the search. People from all backgrounds uniting for a common cause.
The army brings in cranes and lighting to assist in the operation. They guard the some 6 blocks flattened by the Liberates to make sure there is no violence. Refugee camps are set up in the many parks outside of that for those who lost their homes, or live just outside the blast area whose houses are not safe for occupancy.
These are just another bunch of casulties from this war so far. Cairo must act to bring this to an end as soon as possible.
UCTA Emergency Command, Western MC
R+6 days, 1900 hours
The T-32 lands on the runway on the eastern edge of the compound - ready for the agents to make their way to Elante.
Drenford and 40 of his men are waiting on the ground, most not knowing the exact mission at this stage. None are excited nor nervous, they are used to carrying missions out as some of the best agents in the country.
The men board the T-32, and within minutes are in the air. Drenford stands at the front of the passenger area and begins briefing the men on the mission.
"Men, as you know we are to go into Elante, capture Longhorn and hold him at Uverson Police Station until we hand him over to the president for trial.
We are heading to Neptune now, then to Elante by road. By 0400 we should be in the city, but we will not carry the mission out until 0730.
As always with the UCTA the preservation of life is paramount. I want a nice clean operation fellas, we will secure the area, get in, capture and get back out before anyone knows what is going on"
Drenford finishes and returns to his seat - hoping that he is contacted prior to landing at Neptune about how they will leave Elante. He then goes and studies the intelligence he was given prior to leaving the command centre.
**Intelligence Report**
Intelligence suggests that Longhorn has a very strict routine - he leaves his home in his black Magna Industries ST3000 at 0715 each morning, before parking under the town hall. He then makes his way into his office, where he arrives at around 0735. The UCTA hopes to exploit this routine and be there when he arrives.
Intelligence also suggests that minimal security staff (around 15) are on the premises until around 0800, when the graveyard shift ends. Most security staff are stationed at the doors to the front garden and carpark.
The town hall is covered by surveillance cameras, which are monitored from the security station in the centre of the building. At this time of day only 2 guards will be at the station. There is also a security system, parts of which are deactivated when the mayor arrives. It is also of note that the mayor's office has a silent alarm and is right next to the main security station.
Mayor of Elante City
Elante City Town Hall
Longhorn is getting ready to leave the office for the day when the phone rings. It is Major Rykers at Elante City base. He tells Longhorn "I have some rather interesting intelligence coming in from some of my counterparts."
Longhorn responds "Continue..."
Ryker says "I noticed on the radar today that a M32 headed into UCTA Emergency Command and left a short time later. It appears to be enroute to Neptune. I contacted a close friend at Earlford Bay and he informs me that they are planning to capture you to pay for the bombing on Neptune."
Longhorn asks "Alright, but how am I going to avoid being captured?"
Ryker replies "All I have is the details from an army officer who works at the base at which the M32 took off from. I guess that the UCTA will arrive via road from Neptune, given that we can watch the airspace fairly easily - see they would think that we would spot the plane going to Neptune and think - ahhh relief effort. What we are going to do is guard you around the clock and ensure your house, town hall and major entry points into Elante are swamped by militia. We have 15000 men here doing nothing at present, we can put some of them to good use."
Longhorn, relieved says "Alright, I shall leave it in your hands"
Longhorn hangs the phone up and sits back in his chair staring at the wall in his office contemplating his fate.
The Commonwealth troops were once again given the order to board their ships and set sail for Magna Cartman. The newly build HMS-Thunderbird, state of the art technology and loaded with new improved F18 harriers and F22 Raptors, was going for its first mission. Same for the new HMS-Svenssen and another 3 cruisers. The HMS-Underworld and the HMS-Thunderbird were the submarines that covered this mission. And 5 destroyers were deployed too. Major cover actions like radar-disturbers etc. were instated to make sure that this mission stayed unnoticed. Transportships took 10,000 trained soldiers and 100 tanks to the Magna Cartman coast. Even more impressive was the air-to-airprotection. Every ship had over 500 SAM's aboard, and the air was under the radarlook of about 5 radarplanes. No mortal army could get through this defence, sent because of the losses suffered the previous time.
SO:
10.000 trained soldiers
100 tanks
3 cruisers
1 aircraftcarrier
5 destroyers
I believe that the best place for you to land and capture would be Whistler on the south eastern coast. It is of a good distance to both Neptune and Elante and has minimal defences. It is about 600Km from Neptune, 200Km from Elante.
You could try your luck near Neptune, but it is heavily guarded, due to the fact the president resides there.
The T32 with it's cargo of 41 UCTA agents lands uneventfully at Neptune's Airport. The agents make their way into an empty passenger terminal where two agents are waiting. One of the agent's introduces himself "I am agent Grinshaw, we have your transport ready in the parking lot."
Drenford replies "Alright, what is our transport?"
Grinshaw tells him "We hired a coach to get you to Elante."
All the agents make their way out of the terminal to the coach, they are unnoticed by the civilians as they are dressed in plain clothes and blend into the crowd.
Referrendum Day + 7
100 Km North of Elante City on the Capital Highway
0330 hours
All of the agents on the UCTA coach, except it's driver - Agent Grinshaw are sound asleep as the coach rattles along the highway. Traffic begins to get a little heavy heading south and vehicles heading north are flashing their lights at oncoming traffic. Grinshaw thinks to himself "I hope there isnt a damn accident down the road, that would most certianly stuff our mission".
Grinshaw yells out to Drenford and wakes him up. He asks "I think there is an accident or something along this highway, cars are coming the other direction and flashing their lights at us"
Drenford replies "Perhaps we need to find another route into Elante"
Drenford pulls his map out and studies it carefully. He notices that the Marshall Highway, an exit which they past 10 Km back goes into Astron and another road runs from Astron to Elante. It will add around 100 Km to the trip, but it will avoid the accident ahead.
Drenford asks Grinshaw "Can you turn around, and take the Marshall Highway exit to Astron, we can get to Elante via there"
Grinshaw replied "That will add a substantial amount of time to this trip, are you sure"
Drenford replies "Yes, we do not know what is down this road, we could be held up for hours. We will still be in Elante in time to carry the mission out."
Grinshaw slows the coach down, then takes it through the median strip and back onto the other side of the highway, heading North.
One of the few police officers left in this region following the rebel campaign is out on the highway doing a routine patrol. He spots the coach doing it's illegal manouvere and signals for it to full over.
Grinshaw asks Drenford "What the hell should I do here?"
Drenford replies "Pull over and act as if nothing is wrong"
Grinshaw pulls the coach over and the police car pulls in behind. Grinshaw gets out of the coach and asks "What can I do for you officer?"
The officer replies "Do you realise that the manouvere you made back there is illegal, you can not do a U-turn on a dual carriage way except where indicated. You just went through the grass and back onto the other side"
Grinshaw "Sorry sir, but we missed an exit"
The officer asks "You only realised that you missed the exit 10 Km down the road. I dont think so. I think you are up to something."
Grinshaw replies "We are not upto anything sir, I just got lost"
The officer requests "If you aren't up to anything then you won't mind if I take a look inside and in the baggage hold of your coach then will you. First though, where is your driver's licence"
Grinshaw goes to pull his licence out, but instead draws his pistol. The officer notices this and pulls his at the same time. The two men stand on the side of the highway, pistols pointed at each other ready to take the first shot. The officer yells "Put the gun down, you are in are load of trouble now"
Grinshaw shoots the officer in the leg, downing him and then returns to the coach. The shot wakes up most of the men. Drenford tells Grinshaw "That was a pretty moronic thing to do."
Grinshaw replies "We do not have the time for this crap and he would have shot me. I didnt kill him so who cares"
Drenford replies "He will probably bleed to death you damn moron"
Grinshaw just ignores Drenford and continues on the way.
A passer-by notices the highway patrol vehicle on the side of the road with lights on but nobody seemingly around it. He pulls up to investigate himself. He looks and notices down the other side of the car in the grass an officer with a gunwound to the leg. He asks the officer if he is OK. The officer says "Help me to my car, I need to radio for help". The civilian says "Wait a minute. We need to slow this bleeding down mate."
The civilian takes his jacket off and places it on the officer's wounded leg. The officer places pressure on it to slow the bleeding down. The civilian then helps the officer back to his car and then sits in the passenger seat, telling the officer. I will stay here until help arrives.
THe officer uses the radio "Elante OC, this is Elante 201 calling". Aa female voice at the other end replies "Go ahead 201"
"I have been shot in the leg by the driver of a white and blue bus, headed north on Capital Highway. I believe they may be going to head for Marshall Highway as they told me they missed an exit. They seem to be in an aweful hurry."
The female replies "What is your present location"
The officer picks up his GPS and replies "100 Km North of Elante on Capital Highway"
The female replies "I will have Astron dispatched as they are only around 50 Km from your location. I will also ask them to cordon off the area."
The Lieutenant at Astron station receives the order and contacts the militia HQ as he is low on staff. He asks that they block off all entry into Astron and stop any buses that come toward them. He and 2 officers set off for the officer's location.
Magna Cartman Coastline
The HMS-Svenssen was equipped with the latest communication material, and had full control over the entire convoy. When the convoy approached the shoreline, Field Marshal Smith gave the order for the landing. Since no one knew of the invasion, and because the invasion started at dawn, there was no resistance. Some troops immediately started the construction of a waterbridge, to get the tanks on shore. 2.500 troops secured the area while the tanks landed.
Only an hour later, the troops and the tanks had landed.
Field Marshal Smith gave the order to the first battallion (2500 men and 25 tanks) to march towards Elante to inforce the protection of Master Longhorn. the 2nd and tirth battallion were to head for Whistle, which their orders were to capture. Just outside of Astron
0400 hrs
The coach carrying the UCTA agents drives for some 40 Km with no sign of rebels or law enforcement officials in the area. Just outside of Astron their luck changes.
They spot a number of police vehicles blocking the road ahead. There is no less than 50 vehicles supporting the blockade lining the road from stations all over Astron. Each, contains a police officer and 3 militia men.
Grinshaw looks to Drenford and asks "What are we going to do here?
Drenford replies "Well you sure screwed it didn't you Mr Trigger Happy. Just turn around and abort the mission.
Drenford turns the coach aroung, thinking that he wasn't spotted by the roadblock.
The militia and police officers pile into the police cars and make pursuit. They catch up with the coach fairly easily given the speed of their vehicles. One attempts to ram the coach, but ends up off in the dirt. Another militia man hangs out of the window and shoots the back tyres on the bus. The bus starts swerving all over the road before pulling up.
Grinshaw instructs the agents to draw their pistols and walk out with them drawn.
Grinshaw walks off the coach with his pistol drawn, a policeman notices it and shoots him straight in the head. Drenford tells the men "Leave all weapons here, just walk out with your hands above your head and let them take us away. DO NOT SAY A THING"
The agents walk off the coach, one by one as they are hand-cuffed and taken by the police and militia.
It would seem as though the UCTA mission has failed, at least for now.
Above Whistler, Magna Cartman
The Stealth B2's were only noticed when the bombs were being dropped. The SAM's were the first target, and thanks to the great leading system, the bombs all hit targets. The other B2-team was to bomb the reserve training camp. Only the buildings that contained equipment were being bombed, and satelite-photos showed which ones were targets. The result was astonishing: no hits were taken... Whistler was taken by surprise...
Command Center, HMS-Svenssen
When the results from the bombing came in, Field Marshall Smith looked not too surprised. The element of surprise was over now, and they had handed out the first hit. He picked up the satelitephone and called the police headquarter in Whistler.
"Goodday sir," Smith said, "This is Field Marshall Smith speaking. I want to speak to your highest commanding officer strait away. I don't care if you have to get him out of his bed or something, what i got to say to him will be of great interest of him."
"Ok mister Smith", the young agent said. He immediately directed the call to the police commander.
"What do you have to say mister", the commander snapped.
"I am Field Marshall Smith of the Commonwealth Army of DeVlaamseLeeuw," Smith introduced himself, "and my country's airforce has just bombed all militairy facilities in your area. So it's between your police and my army. As we speak, the 2nd and 3th battallion of my expeditional army are heading for Whistler. I don't want to make many casualties, so if you would just hand over the city to us, that would make things much easier for both of us."
Smith awaited the response of the commander...
The Road to Whistler, 10 km from Whistler
The 2nd battallion had orders to head for Whistler over the main road. The 3th was supposed to make a surrounding move and close in around Whistler from the other side. The move was succesfully ended at 00.15 pm Commonwealth time. General Maheu from the 2nd battallion and General Jackson from the 3th were waiting for new orders from Field Marshall Smith, who was known as the most brilliant strategic mastermind in the Commonwealth army.
The order came minutes after the succesful move. They were going to have to wait for the end of negociations between the police commander of Whistler and Field Marshall Smith himself. In the mean time, they had permission to close in to 2.5 km from Whistler, but to keep out of sight...
The police commander, Sargeant Phillips received a call at around 0600 from Marshall Smith. He responded - "My force will be ordered to give no resistance to your forces" He then sent the call out for all officcers to stay out of the way of the commonwealth forces.
It was also at that time that he called General Weinderberg and informed him that his city was being invaded by the commonwealth.
Fellow citizens,
It is with great sorrow that I extend my personal condolences to those who have lost or have missing loved ones in the bombing on Neptune. Rest assured that we are doing all we can to find any survivors.
I also wish to advise you all, that in the last 24 hours some 150000 men have stepped up to join the military. As you know for sometime we have been constructing new bases at Marsden Lake and Tillinger. These will be completed by the end of the week.
All men eligible for national service will be called upon in the next two days. This should boost our military might massively. At present, the government has funds to support some 2 700 000 soldiers. We do not have that many men at present, but I intend to within the next few months.
High esteemed master Longhorn
I am Field Marshall Smith, and I'm leading the operation in Magna Cartman. I want to inform you that the Commonwealth Army has occupied Whistler, and as we tried, we managed to keep the casualty list on the Magna Cartman side as low as possible. From what we know, 5 soldiers were killed in the facilities we bombed yesterday. I would also want to inform you that there is something going in Marshall Bay. I don't know what it is, but there's a high activity level there...
A second thing I'd like to discuss is the defence around your city. I have been given the explicit order to keep you alive, so if there is any weak point in your defence, I'd like to cover that.
That's why the 1st battallion is heading for your city, at this very moment a days marching from you. We can get an airplane to pick you up in 24 hours, as we have conquered the airfield of Whistler undamaged.
Longhorn arrives at Elante base to check on the situation with the head of the rebel forces - Ryker. Ryker tells him "The UCTA agents headed here to kidnap you have been captured themselves. They are being held in Astron right this monent. They attempted to kill a policeman who pulled them over for a traffic stop."
"Our Commonwealth allies have captured Whistler and are using it as an base. They also have spotted activity at Marshall Bay, but do not know what is going on. They requested that you perhaps should spend some time in Whistler until their forces get here."
Longhorn replies "Actually, it might be a good idea to go over to Whistler and speak to the squad leader, we can also devise a plan of attack. How long until we have an AX97 ready to leave?
Ryker replies "25 minutes."
With that Ryker prepares the copter and in 30 minutes time Ryker, 2 militia and Longhorn are in the air on their way to Neptune to meet the Commonwealth team.
Emergency Command Centre, Presidential Castle, Neptune
President Cairo and Generals Stinson, Weinderberg and Hegbunen sit around the command centre's large round table during a meeting to bring each other up to date on the situation throughout the country.
Stinson tells the group "Whistler has fallen. I am unsure at this stage if it is under rebel control or if they have allies that have taken it."
Weinderberg butts in "Actually, the Commonwealth of DHL have taken it, the Whistler police chief called me about half an hour ago to inform me that the town had been captured. Luckily though only 5 men were killed there."
Cairo asks "What possible value does Whistler have to the rebels?"
All three generals shake their heads, not knowing the answer to that question.
Hegbunen says "The Swinotopians are on their way to do a bombing raid in Elante. I believe that they are going to take out the base and town hall."
Cairo replies "Very good, very good indeed. If we can get Elante back, we have won half the battle"
Stinson says "Elante will not be that easy, they have a large militia and some of our traitors from the army. THe base is also very well stocked with anti-aircraft facilities as is the city itself"
Cairo says "The rebels think they are good but are not."
Cairo asks "Do we have a person in mind for the mayor of Sigma?"
Stinson tells Cairo "Perhaps your advisors would be better suited to that job"
Cairo asks Weinderberg "How's the operation to capture Longhorn going?"
Weinderberg, nervously replies "It began last night but failed. The bus of agents were captured between Elante and Astron. I have not heard anything since"
Cairo, surprisingly seeming content with that "Ahhh well that is not a priority right now"
Magna Cartman News Network
We have been informed by General Hegbunen that the 150,000 new recruits that have been voluntarily gained are receiving an induction today and will tomorrow be given their posts. Surprisingly, none will be stationed at Marsden Lake or Tillinger.
These new recruits will also forgo training at the Mirion Colonial Academy and instead by mixed into existing units where they will learn on the job. We are told many of them may be on missions as of tomorrow.
Meanwhile, the situation in Neptune is growing grimmer by the hour as more dead bodies and fewer survivors are pulled from the rubble. We have been told that around 9500 people are confirmed dead, 2500 rescued and a further 7000 seeked medical treatment on their own. The colonial army has setup field hospitals in numerous parks around the city to help look after the injured.
Astron Police HQ
The 42 agents are crammed into 3 small cells at the rear of the Astron Police Headquarters, Mayor Warner walks upto one of the cells and asks "So which one of you pieces of trash is the leader?" None of the agents reply.
He says "That is fine you pieces of trash, you treated me like crap when you had me captured. Let's see how you like it. I should put you all in a giant cage out the back like the dogs that you are"
Agent Grinshaw comes up to the bars and grabs Warner by the throat. He commands "Let us go or fear my wrath." Warner, unfazed by the strength of Grinshaw resplies "So you must be the one who shot the police officer. My my my, we have a temper don't we"
Grinshaw grabs tighter and tells Warner "You are the next one, except I will kill you."
Two militia guards walk up and attempt to push Grinshaw back into the cell. When that fails, one draws his weapon and commands him to move back.
Warner tells the guards "I want this one seperated from the rest. Get him out of there and put him in a cell. Once we have our new nation set up we will try him in court"
Warner walks out with one of the guards who gets 5 others to assist him. They hold the agents back as they take Grinshaw out and place him in a cell by himself.
Cinlest Council Hall
Mayor Mya Freyer walks into the radio station in the small township of Rexton and asks if it is possible for her to make an announcement. She is told that she has 5 minutes maximum airtime.
"Citizens of Cinlest Region, I have today after speaking with my colleague in Miniton decided to call an refferendum on breaking from the dictatorship we find ourselves in. Each of the three towns under my mayorship shall have polling booths setup from today, for a period of three days.
On the ballot paper you will have to write yes or no to the following - Do you wish for Cinlest to break from the Magna Cartman dictatorship?
I ask you all to be honest and not to feel intimidated by those in Neptune who want to stiffle our democratic rights. The current system is flawed and must be changed.
Thankyou for your time."
And while we do anything to keep casualties as low as possible, the allies of your dictatorship, Swinotopia, are on their way to bomb the city of Neptune to the bottom. This is outragous, and we won't tolerate this. I hope you won't either, they are your friends in Neptune that are going to die!
Aboard the HMS-Thunderbird
When Field General Smith heared about the approaching airmob towards Neptune, he immediately knew there had to be something he could do. He only had 100 F22's and 100 F18's. He then had a brilliant plan. Five minutes later, the F18's were loaded with anti-surface missiles and the F22's with anti-aircraft missiles. The airplanes (state of the art) were sent under protection of radar-awacs plane to Marshall Bay...
DVL, it is actually Elante that is being bombed by Swinotopia.
Elante Base
Elante is bustling with activity with the knowledge that Swinotopia has sent forces in to bomb their city. The plans are to attack with 76 F16s and a further 17 AX97 attack choppers fitted with their standard canons and AAMs. They are ordered to stay grounded until the local radar picks up the eneemy fleet.
We are bitterly disappointed with the support you have given the rebels following my great hospitality to your delegate. I am further angered by you condoning an illegal referrendum and pledging your support to overthrow me.
Mister Cairo
The abundance that was in your castle prooved to me that you are in fact a dictator, as you don't seem to share your people's faith of poorty and hunger. That is why we decided to support the democratic movement.
We hereby answer your declaration of war with more troops heading for your country. Another 2 aircraft carriers and 15,000 new troops are now heading for your country, as is our largest Battle Ship, the HMS-DeVlaamseLeeuw.
With signs of our deepest respect to your people
The Colony of Magna Cartman views you as nothing less than a traitor and you will be dealt with accordingly. Do you support the death of 10,000 civilians from the Liberate bombing in Neptune? Obviously so as you are supporting this scum.
Mister Dictator
We regret any action undertaken by LA, but their actions were for their own account, and not in the name of the rebellion. We too have lost many men.
But not under any circumstance do we let you threaten us, so just to let you know, we are not leaving Whistler, and I don't think you nor your allies can take it by force. But perhaps the Commonwealth expeditionairy armies could be at Neptune's doors quicker than you think. So send your 150k new recruits to our well trained and much better equipped defence...
Bring it on!
Field Marshall Adam Smith
Whistler, Magna Cartman
It was interesting to see how the Commonwealth forces (25,000 troops in Whistler) were preparing their defences. As fast as possible the old medieval walls were repaired and the new portable missile launchers were brought into place. The new planes were fuelled and were ready to be in the air anytime in 5 minutes. There was always an AWACS-radarplane in the air...
Neptune, Magna Cartman
Fred Van den Eynde was an agent of the Secret Intelligence Service of the Commonwealth. When he entered Neptune yesterday, no one knew of his existence in this godforsaken country. His task was simple: Let the resistance know the Commonwealth was coming, so if they could take the city from within, the Commonwealth army would offer support...
Late afternoon, Day R+7
Emergency Command Centre, Presidential Castle
President Cairo calls an emergency meeting at the Emergency Command Centre for Generals Hegbunen, Weinderberg and Stinson to discuss how best to deal with the Commonwealth invasion.
Cairo addresses the other three men "I have just received word from the Commonwealth's Field Marshall that they will not be backing down to our demands. We therefore must take action. How I do not know."
Weinderberg says "Perhaps I should send some UCTA agents into Whistler to survey the landscape so to speak, pick out some strategic targets and report back."
Cairo asks "What do you two think of this?" referring to Hegbunen and Stinson. They both nod, signalling that they agree to the plan.
Cairo then asks "How should we go about recapturing Whistler?"
Hegbunen, always happy to use force says "Easily, we can bomb the bastards from the air and then storm the city with tanks and a large infantary."
Weinderberg butts in, seemingly concerned about that plan "What about civilians, there are around 4 million in whistler. That is a pretty braizen plan if you ask me."
Cairo stands up, walks over to Weinderberg and stands over him as he asks "Are you sympathising with that scum. What? Do you not want us to succeed?"
Weinderberg stands up, obviously furious by the insinuation and says "Respectfully sir, I believe that we should not be punishing civilians in a city which has not yet rebelled for the actions of the invaders."
Hegbunen then says "If there are 4 million there, why have they not drove them out. If Cairo let us have nukes, I'd nuke the damn place. They are all weak like kittens. If they get in the road, who cares"
Cairo then yells "Silence you pair of fools. Neither of you have any idea of how to run an operation. For god's sake, put your differences aside and lets make this work. I agree that we should bomb their location and then sweep in with a ground force to push the rest of them out"
Stinson says "I have around 400 F18s between Marshall Bay, Mitchell and Raptoress that take almost no effort to get there, plus we have the SU35s and B52s as well"
Cairo asks "What happened to our old stockpile of F14s. Werent there around 650 of those when we took them out of service"
Stinson replies "Those are on the west coast at Ruttleridge Storage Facility. I do believe however that with a few day's work we could get them in the air too. Although, we do have a large aircraft contingent now. I was purely mentioning those which we have in close proximity to Whistler."
Cairo says "I wouldnt mind some of those F14s in the air. They are easily dispensible along with the new recruits to be honest. Get a few of them out to each base as soon as you can for training excercises"
Stinson says "Sir, not all bases have aircraft facilities"
Cairo responds "Just put 2 F14s at each aircraft base. I want it done by tomorrow lunchtime."
With that Cairo dismisses the men and they go off to do their work.
At an abandoned warehouse in the industrial area of Neptune
The rebel group in Neptune get word of a spy from the Commonwealth in Neptune and go in search of him. They send a message to Longhorn to pass to their commander that they would like to meet him at a park in western Neptune at 9AM the next morning.
They keep their fingers crossed that the message will get through and that the spy will turn up.
It is unfortunate that the rebels in Neptune are a very small minority. Partly due to the strength Cairo has over the reason and now thanks to the Liberate bombing, many refuse to join a cause they see as murderous.
"Hi, I'm Fred van den Eynde, and I need you all to do something for me. I have orders to find out what the government in Neptune is planning to do against Whistler. If you guys have anyone inside, that could give us information, please just send it to Longhorn or Field Marshall Smith, or to me.". Fred just made his point, and awaited their answer...
Aboard the HMS-Svenssen, Magna Cartman
Field Marshall Smith stood up when Mayor Longhorn entered his room.
"Welcome welcome, master Longhorn," Smith said, "I hope your trip wasn't uncomfortable. As you can see, I give my orders from one of the largest cruisers of our Navy, and not from Whistler itself. I'll get straight to the point. Where do you think we should go next, and what do you think the dictatorship is going to do against our appearance here. In other words, what kind of material can the dictator rally against us. Do they have many artillery, or many airplanes... I hope you can answer these questions for me."
The Warehouse, Neptune
The rebels sit around discussing how they plan to recruit more people to their cause when they hear a bang on the door. They instantly rush up and pretend to be moving goods around as their leader - Juan Yen answers the door.
He discovers that it is Fred van den Eynde at the door. Yen invites him in.
Yen tells him "I have few contacts inside the castle, where these talks occured. What I can tell you is that it will be a air attack on wherever your men are stationed in Whistler, followed by a ground attack with tanks and infantry.
I have also been told by a close friend in Ruttleridge that the Ruttleridge Storage Facility has been very busy today. I have no idea what is there, but should I find out I will let you know.
You might also be interested to know a rumour I have heard - Weinderberg is getting angered by the way him and the UCTA is being treated. I think if we could get Cairo and Hegbunen to push him the wrong way he might halt UCTA activities again".
Aboard the HMS-Svenssen, Magna Cartman
Longhorn greets Field Marshall Smith with a firm handshake and a pat on the back. He tells the Field Marshall "My trip was quite comfortable. I actually was of the belief that you were commanding from within Whistler itself. This is quite an impressive piece of machinery.
I believe a trip to Neptune could be in order, however you need to be aware that there are likely to be many army personnel in Neptune and civilians are unlikely to be sympathetic to any invasion, given the bombing and the deaths from that.
As for the military, it mainly consists of infantary, although there is a sizeable air force it largely consists of F16/18s, B52s and AX97s. We have a few more advanced craft like SU35s and such but these are a fairly small part of the airforces."
Longhorn then stares around Field Marshall Smith's room amazed at what he sees.
Aboard the HMS-Svenssen
Smith saw Mayor Longhorn look around the room, and he could read the amazement in the Mayor's eyes. How long had this man been living in the forests, Smith wondered.
"You should see the HMS-DeVlaamseLeeuw once," Smith said to Longhorn, "It's many times bigger than this flagship. But let's stay on the case here. Because you said the citizens of Neptune wouldn't like to see a foreign invasion on their city, I think it's best that it is you that takes the city. Perhaps you could take it if we provide with a distraction attack which would lead away most of the army. I will think of a bait that the dictator cannot resist."
Warehouse, Neptune
That last fact really interested Van den Eynde. The UCTA would be a powerful ally, if they could be trusted...
"Ok," Van den Eynde said, "try to approach both Weinderberg and the second man of the UCTA. If it appears that Weinderberg isn't to be trusted, I'll eliminate him. If we could get the UCTA on our side... In any case, the day the attack comes, I want you and the rebels to take over all major communicationfacilities like television and radio. The people of Neptune should be warned to stay out of the fire. It's is your task to convince them of the good of this revolution."
Van den Eynde then walked away to make a phone call, secured ofcourse.
Militairy facilities, Whistler
When the phonecall of van den Eynde arrived here, they were already told to prepare for heavy bombings. Field Marshall Smith had heared interesting information from P.J. Longhorn it seemed. And when Van den Eynde confirmed this, General Maheu knew this was serious. Many hundreds of SAM's were placed, together with portable missile launchers. He heared that the HMS-DeVlaamseLeeuw had arrived at the shoreline, which made him feel a lot more comfortable, because this ship was equipped to resist to heavy air attacks, and do major damage to airplanes. The computerfreaks in the "TV-room" would take full control over the missiles and the SAM's, so they wouldn't hit any allied airplane.
Speaking of allied airplanes, the Commonwealth airforce had enough hunters there to make sure nothing could happen to this town, together with the SAM's ofcourse. And they would be warned of this attack, because together with the AWACS in the air, the radar of the HMS-DeVlaamseLeeuw would constantly be monitoring any incoming from about 100 km's in the area...
Longhorn looks at Smith rather confusingly and says "I dont believe that at this time I am terribly popular in Neptune either, I believe that they may blame me for the bombing. I accepted the help of the Liberates, therefore I am responsible in their minds. Unfortunately, this isnt the case. Perhaps my rebels could change their minds for me or something.
I will say this though, the time to strike could well be whilst they are campaigning in Whistler, they are going to have a big contingent here I am told, so that means Neptune will be a little lighter at that time.
May I ask that if it is possible, could I record a message for the Whistler media to play warning Whistler's citizens of the possible action tomorrow. It's not as if Cairo will do it.
"
Rebel Warehouse, Neptune
Yen smiles thinking these guys must be damn serious if they believe they can take out Weinderberg, not even Hegbunen is game enough to do that. He then says "I am not totally sure if Weinderberg is on our side as such, I just believe that he is being fed up with having to report to the military and being walked all over.
In any case, the communications facilities would be easy to take over, what we need to do is try and get some support from others in this area, as you can see the democratic revolutionists are not exactly huge in numbers here"
Longhorn thanks Smith for permission to make the tape whist aboard the HMS-Svenssen. Mayor Longhorn asks "I will do something about taking Neptune over, I just do not know what at this stage. I will need a few hours to devise a plan.
Right now, our priority should be on preparing Whistler. I am going to send a large number of rebels up from Elante, with tents so we can evacuate tonight, those who may be injured during the bombing. I will also arrange somehow for people to be transported. You are free to help.
Thankyou again for your nation's help."
With that, Smith takes Longhorn to a room where he can record his message to Whistler's citizens.
Longhorn records the following message -
"Citizens of Whistler,
I wish to advise you that your President is planning an attack on your city tomorrow. I would like to urge all civilians to try and stay out of the crossfire and evacuate areas near the port and military installations.
I understand that at this time you may be angry at the rebel movement and myself because your city has been inundated by rebel allies, but as you have seen so far - we have respect for life. We will keep casualties to a minimum unlike the loyalists.
I will be tonight setting up an evacuation camp at the Lavis Park in the south of the city to shelter any person who wishes to evacuate from the likely target areas. I am also going to arrange for transport from likely target locations to the camp.
Again, the rebel and commonwealth forces number one priority is the safety of civilians."
The tape is then taken by the commonwealth so they can broadcast it when the SIS take over the city's media.
Longhorn then pulls his secured phone out of his bag and makes a call through to the Elante Transportation Service's manager, Rhonda Greenwood. "Rhonda Greenwood here".
Longhorn says "Rhonda, it's Mayor Longhorn. I need a favour. How many buses do we have there in Elante?"
"Around 170" Greenwood replies.
"Can you send 70 to the military base right now?" asks Longhorn.
"I can but it will disrupt services" replies Greenwood.
"Frankly, right now they are more use here than there. Make it so"
"OK sir"
The buses then make their way for the Elante Base. Longhorn then places a call through to the base and instructs them to bring 5000 troops to Whistler, as many as will fit in the 10 of the 15 available AX97s with tents and medical kits, the rest on the buses.
The Warehouse, Neptune
"I do not know the second in charge's view of the rebels. I will try to arrange to speak to Weinderberg somehow. I do have a contact at the UCTA Command Centre, although Weinderberg is likely to be in Neptune during the Whistler recovery" replies Yen.
One of the other rebels asks [I]"How hard is the castle to get into?"
Referrendum Day + 8
Whistler
By 0100 all of Longhorn's rebel forces from Elante had arrived and set up the evacuation camp. They found some red paint and painted on top of one of the tents - EVAC to indicate that the camp was holding civilians.
The rebels began picking civilians in likely target areas up in the buses and transported them to the camp where they would be safe.
Once all the civilians were evacuated, most of the rebels went to the captured reserve training camp and assisted the commonwealth soldiers in preparing for the bombing on Whistler.
Emergency Command Centre, Presidential Castle
0400 hrs
The President and the generals sit in the emergency command centre once again, this time to ensure that preperations are going to plan.
General Weinderberg begins presenting his intelligence to the others "Agents in Whistler claim that the rebels have a pretty good hold on the city. They have captured the reservist's training base, media, docks and airport in the city.
Of interest is a evacuation camp where they are looking after civilians from around their captured buildings so they do not get injured by the bombings or cross-fire."
Hegbunen yells "Those citizens must be weak. How could they let the rebels move them to this camp without killing at least one rebel. They are obviously as bad as the rebels themselves and should be killed."
"We should not attack civilians, it is not the right thing to do." says Weinderberg.
Cairo butts into the argument and says "Mika, if you need to do this do it, otherwise dont worry about it."
Weinderberg shocked at what he just heard, yells at the president "How can you give him the option of sparing or killing civilians. The civilians are not the enemy here. No wonder there is a resistance going on at the moment."
Cairo walks over to Weinderberg, grabbing him forcefully and says "So you agree with the resistance do you? Are you trying to take me down from the inside?"
Weinderberg says "I am doing my job aren't I? How dare you accuse me of being a traitor"
"Shut up and get on with the job" yells Stinson, obviously annoyed by the bickering.
Cairo looks to Hegbunen and asks "What do we have to throw at them?"
Hegbunen replies "I have moved the 150 F18s from Marshall Bay to both Mitchell and Raptoress. We have around 400 F18s ready to go, with 87 B52s and 10 SU35s. We also have around 20000 infantary units, with 100 tanks and APCs ready to go in once the air stroke is completed."
Stinson says "He forgets to add that we have planned for 0600, just on dawn to carry out the bombings"
Cairo rubs his hands together and says "Very good, we should have Whistler back under my control by lunchtime. Then we may move on somewhere else"
RadarRoom, HMS-Svenssen
The engineers monitoring the best radar ever in the Commonwealth's history, looked taken aback by the huge Airmob. The MasterEngineer immediately gave the order to wake Field Marshall Smith.
"So it begins", was the first reply from Smith when he got dressed and entered the radarroom. "Immediately contact General Maheu in Whistler, Admiral Janssens in 's Gravenwezel Castle and the other ships of our convoy, especially the HMS-Thunderbird."
The reactions from all three of them came swift. Admiral Janssens asigned materialshipments from the docks of Antwerp Port, General Maheu brought his 4 other AWACS-aircrafts in the air, followed by his 75 F22 Raptors and his 75 F18 Hornets. At the aircraftcarriers, 1/3th of the airplanes were heading off. That meant a force of 250 airplanes (125 F18's and 125 F22's) were going to intercept the hostiles.
In the mean time, the SAM's were being loaded, fuelplanes fuelled, the remaining 200 airplanes fuelled and armed, extra airplanes headed off from bases all around the Commonwealth, and militairy staff began the plan, which meant they took in their defensive positions...
In the skies over Neptune
The loyalists keep cheking their radars and seem shocked that they are yet to pick up any enemy aircraft in the region. Many of the pilots think Are the rebels still in bed?
Team Bravo, led by Lt. Jinx uses it's F18s ASMs to destroy the radio transmitter before then heading towards the radio station's headquarters where the full might of the team will be used.
Team Alpha makes it's first bombing run over channel 2's headquarters and transmitter but little damage is done. It seems that the mostly inexperienced men in this team are having hassles targetting their bombs. Their squad leader Lt. Urunga broadcasts "You would want to do better than that, my mother could drop a ASM better than that you morons.". Just as he finishes that transmission he looks off the left wing to the East and spots a large number of aircraft headed towards him. He looks at his radar to see nothing. He taps the screen for a moment but nothing.
He asks his men "Is anyone else picking those to the South on radar?". The radio stays silent. He then asks "This is Alpha 1, please other teams advise location". He receives answers he doesnt want to hear. The aircraft inbound are not friendlies. He then asks for assistance. Team Bravo is the only one willing to assist, the others claim they must complete their missions.
Urunga orders his men "We are aborting our mission, B52s may return to Mitchell, F18s head South to intercept"
Urunga boldly states on the radio "Rebel scum, prepare to die. Victory to the President!!".
Urunga is surprised at what appears to be a retreat by some of the commonwealth pilots. They seem to be heading West. He looks dumfounded for a moment and then focuses on the job at hand - bringing down as many commonwealth aircraft as is possible.
Urunga's team begins the dogfight, with cannons blazing. The morning sky is lit up with the glow of gunfire.
Emergency Command Centre, Neptune
Cairo and his generals sit at the large table, listening to the radio communication from Whistler. Cairo asks "Why have the radars not picked up the commonwealth aircraft?"
"They may be using stealth aircraft, which our current system can not pick up. If LA did not damage MCORN, we would be fine, but without it we might as well look outside for ourselves" replies Stinson.
Hegbunen asks "At present we have a team heading back from the radio transmitter towards channel 2. There is a hospital in the path. It could be a good idea to bomb that, so that the rebels have fewer medical facilities for when we inflict injuries on them"
Cairo responds "Make it so."
Weinderberg sits horrified at what he just heard. He thinks to himself I am surrounded by a bunch of crackpots. How the hell could they bomb a hospital and kill doctors, nurses and the sick.
Hegbunen laughs then says to Cairo "Team Delta will be breaking off shortly. They only need to travel around 4 Km to start their mission. I assigned 5 F18s for it, as all they need to do is shower the ground with cannon fire."
Weinderberg asks "What is Delta's mission, I only see A through C on my brief?"
"Delta is to inflict as much damage as possible on the evacuation camp. Our intelligence tells us that it is primarily being used to house rebels. It is just a front" replies Cairo.
Weinderberg yells "I AM YOUR INTELLIGENCE AGENCY - We have said no such thing. Our agents in the region have seen a small number of rebels at camp Evac, the rest are civilians. What you are condoning here is nothing short of murder. Why punish civilians?"
"Are you questioning my honesty?" demands Cairo.
Weinderberg says "Yes I am, no such intelligence report has stated that Evac is a rebel housing camp. You know damn well what it is for."
Hegbunen responds "Look, they accepted the help of rebels, they are rebels."
Weinderberg exclaims "This is rubbish. You are killing your own loyal citizens! That mission must be stopped!"
Major Jenssen felt confident. The dictators pilots were flying into his trap.
"Team 1 & 2, make your move," Jenssen yelled, "Team 3, follow me. We are gonna get those b¨tches!"
Team 1 & 2 suddenly flew up really high, which confused the hostile pilots. At that very moment, over 200 SAM's and 100 guided missiles were heading for the hostiles...
The hostile hunters had enough work saving themselves, so team 3 under the command of Jenssen started the hunting down of the bombers...
When the allied troops have taken in the entire country, things are gonna change here. Count Hobbezak I has sent me here to gather all trustworthy people. If you help us keep the casualtylist as low as possible, we'll make sure Longhorn thanks you with a very good position in his new cabinet. In the air above Whistler
The inexperienced pilots of team Alpha seem stunned by the moves by the Commonwealth aircraft. All but 6 of the F18s are hit by SAMs and crash into the ground. Lt. Urunga calls the remaining men on the radio "These bastards know what they are doing, pursue them make sure they come down. Team Bravo hurry up, we are down to 6 planes now..."
Surprisingly, Urunga is relieved that the inexperienced men perished during the battle, he considers it the cleansing of the weak.
Team Bravo is around 3 minutes from Urunga's squad and near the Whistler General Hospital, the main hospital for the city. Lt Jinx broadbasts "Bomb the hospital", Team Bravo, consisting of mainly experienced pilots is successful in it's mission and continues toward team Alpha to assist in their air battle.
Team Delta breaks from Team Charlie and heads towards the evacuation camp. The 5 F18s simply fire their cannons towards the ground, scattering fire everywhere. Their leader hopes that they inflicted heavy damage on the camp. A few SAMs are launched from the camp, but as most of the rebels were caught off-guard, little effect was made on the F18s. They then set a course to rendevous with Teams Alpha and Bravo.
Team Charlie continues it's course towards the captured military training camp.
Weinderberg is shocked that rebels could actually gain entry into the castle, his first question is "How the hell did you get in here?". He then asks "Alright, tell me what you want from me. I have heared you don't agree to things the president ordered, well we don't either. If you play with us, then go along with the president, so he doesn't get suspicious. Airbattle above Whistler
The SAM's were controlled via computers, so killing the people around the SAM's was of no use. But the Commonwealth army was unlucky. The computerwires seemed to be hit, so there was no connection with the system anymore. It seemed there would be no groundsupport for the airplanes.
"Well it appears our home advantage is out," Field Marshall Smith said, "But luckily we got more tricks up our sleeve. Get these bastards to sea, so our boardcannons will blast them out..."
At that moment, a telephone came in from the head of the general hospital in Whistler. When Smith heared about the hospital being under intensive bombing, he looked tired. These maniacs have to be stopped at all cost
In the chaos of the battle, team 3 managed to sneak away. They found the bombers on the radar, and rushed towards them...
Team Bravo, on it's way to meet Alpha is fired upon by SAMs on the ground, one F18 goes down, the others swing back around and begin to bomb the SAM site. All aircraft except the B52s are now without ASMs. They then return to their previous heading and within moments, rendevous with Team Alpha.
Urunga seems relieved to have further support for the dog fights. He radios "It is good to see you Bravo". Jinx answers "Geez, your squad is thin now"
As team 3 sneaks away, Alpha and Bravo continue firing upon teams 1 and 2 as they change heading and head East. Jinx says "Do not get too close to the coastline, I am sure they have destroyers out there, just continue firing on the planes until we are near the coast. Then return to Mitchell".
The bombing of the evac camp goes well for the loyalists, they blatantly murdered some 1000 civilians and 234 rebels, many more are injured. An unknown rebel radios the allied command centre for assistance "Those bastards shot the camp up, we need help NOW"
The UCTA agents on the ground in Whistler get word of the arrival of the SSS and immediately make communication with Longhorn. They inform him that the SSS is on it's way and there are troops waiting to enter the city once the air offensive is complete.
Teams Alpha and Beta continue firing upon the commonwealth fighters as they flee towards the coastline. They follow, obviously underestimating the range of the anti-aircraft batteries on the Commonwealth ships. A few planes are immediately downed when Urunga orders "Abort mission, head home. Enemy SAMs hitting friendly craft"
Hinford, nearing the military camp asks "How far off the coast are you?" Urunga relies "Around 10 Km sir". Hinford ponders for a moment then issues Team Charlie with the order to bomb the captured military camp once then retreat.
Team Charlie carries out their mission, causing heavy damage to the camp. 3 planes are hit by SAMs from the commonwealth ship, 2 falling out of the sky like birds hit with stones. The other limps for around 4 Km when it runs out of fuel and crashes into an apartment building killing the pilot instantly.
The troops on the ground waiting for the approval of the emergency command to enter the city and begin their mission are shocked to hear several choppers coming from the West. The leader of the squad - Captain Windham ponders I wonder if we are being taken home, a few moments later his question is answered as three AX97s fire on them. He yells "Take cover". 25 of the 100 tanks bought to the location are equipped with SAM launchers and begin firing upon the AX97s, all three are hit but only one of them crash, crashing into the infantary on the ground. A small fraction of the 20000 strong troops are killed or injured and a single APC is overturned by the explosion from the crash. Windham looks a little stunned at the overturned APC, wondering how the hell something so large could be over turned.
The troops are then taken by surprise by a grenade thrown at them from the south. Around 5 men standing at the front of an APC are injured by the grenade. Windham orders Zulu company to investigate.
Zulu walks into the scrub and finds a lonely rebel behind a tree, they capture her and return to the rest of their troops. Windham attempts to interrogate, but after 20 minutes of getting nowhere he decides that the rebel is of no use and shoots her in the head. He then orders the men to stay on guard for any further incidents.
Press Room, Presidential Castle, Neptune
Erica Fullton, one of Cairo's defence advisors stands in the press room, ready to give a speech about the incidents in Whistler.
"Fellow citizens, as you are aware by now, today, we have begun a campaign to free the city of Whistler from the terrorists who have gained control over it. This campaign is still continuing but I am advised that the rebels are balming the loyalists for destroying the Whistler General Hospital and a refugee camp in the south of the city."
Fullton pauses for a moment, as the projector fires up and displays images of a camp packed with men in dark clothes with guns and grenades and large radio equipment and shots of a commonwealth plane bombing the hospital.
"As you can see from these photographs, there was no refugee camp, it was simply a rebel coordination facility, where they were co-oridinating their attack - as such we took care of it. The hospital was bombed by this commonwealth aircraft. We had nothing to do with it."
A short, strange looking man walks into the command centre and asks to speak to Cairo. He says "Sir, I have Windham on the line for you"
Cairo, cocky and arrogant as always takes the call "Yes, what do you have to report?"
"We have heard reports from spies in the city and on the beach that the Commonwealth forces are moving off. Our handheld radars indicate this too."
Cairo asks "What about Longhorn's rebels"
"Longhorn left about 30 minutes ago in an AX97, he would be nearing Elante by now sir" replies Windham.
Cairo asks "Why did you not order to shoot him out of the sky?"
"I only just became aware of it"
"Alright, then clean the city out Windham, report when you have recaptured the training camp and airport. We could use them as our base in that region. It could be most helpful"
Whistler
The team on the ground in Whistler are ordered by Windham to proceed into the city. The sound of the 100 tanks and numerous APCs can be heard for kilometres.
The rebels, secretly tipped off by the UCTA plan their defence at the military training camp. They seem concerned given they have only 10 tanks and no armoured vehicles to defend themselves with. The plan is to try and bomb the troops from the air with AX97s before they get too close to the rebels.
The loyalist troops continue making their way towards the military training camp in the East of the city. One of the APCs has a public announce system and an officer repeats the message "We are the president's forces... We are freeing you from the terrorists, please stay indoors".
In the centre of the city, the troops come across a large group of people in King Neptune Park. They order them to put their hands in the air to make sure they have no weapons. Anyone who doesnt comply is instantly shot and labelled a rebel.
The loyalist remain relatively unopposed until they reach the training camp, the rebels are equipped with some anti-tank missles, left by the commonwealth forces. The Sheridans open fire on the camp, mowing down as many of the rebels as they can.
The 50 anti-tank missle launchers begin firing their blazing munition as soon as the tanks are in visual range. 34 tanks are destroyed, a small number given the massive troop size. The rebels quickly load the launchers and fire again, this time targetting APCs. The missles fly through the air until they reach their destination, destroying only 22 of the APCs.
Several hundred of the rebels run for their lives after the first barrage of cannon fire on the camp, the remaining rebels stay and fight for their cause. The remaining Sheridans launch their small number of missles on the camp, lighting it up with fire, around 1500 rebels meet their firely death.
The loyalists then send in the troops to flush out any remaining resistance before taking the destoyed camp over.
Meanwhile, the truth about what happened yesterday during the Whistler liberation hits the front page of newspapers across the nation. All have been given accurate photographs showing a squadron of MC aircraft bombing the Whistler hospital. The photos shown by the defence department yesterday are also revealled to have been taken over one year ago as a building which has been recently redeveloped appears in the background as it was back then. Across the nation people begin to question the government and it's true motives.
"How do the men in the ranks feel about the government though?" asks Weinderberg.
"I believe they will follow us, problem is, only one needs to not and disclose of this to the president. We need to stay on the inner circle for now" says Yarr.
Weinderberg then asks "How should we begin this campaign. I was thinking of capturing Hegbunnen."
"That would be a good idea if the defence towers existed still, it is quite hard for us to gain entry in here to do a kidnapping" replies Yarr.
Weinderberg replies "Well, we shall wait for him to leave here sometime, it's as simple as that."
The pilot attempts to radio through to Neptune, but all frequencies are being jammed out by someone else. Instantly all those on the aircraft think the worst, they have been attacked and are far from help.
The pilot spots a tiny clearing and puts the chopper down there, instantly, they are swamped by around 20 men in black tracksuits and balaclavas with AK47s pointing at those on the aircraft.
The pilot, 4 soldiers and Hegbunnen put up little resistance, knowing that their chances are increased of being kept alive if they co-operate.
The man who seems to be the leader of the group demands "Get over there...". The group complies, before having their hands and feet tied together. They then search each of the hostages, finding a telephone and GPS tracking unit on Hegbunnen. The president and his two present generals listen intently to what the Swinotopian representative has to say. Cairo replies "We did a search of the area and it looks like they were taken away from the area. Do you know an exact location?"
At the same time, General Weinderberg is trying to contain his laughter, knowing that Hegbunnen is nowhere near Huang Forest, but in Astron instead. He remains silent, trying to keep a straight face.
***Scenes of P.J. Longhorn about to address the crowd**
"This is Emily Smart for the MCNN. We are waiting outside the Elante City Town Hall where Mayor Longhorn is about to give an address. We have no idea what this address is about, but we assume it will be about the activities of the past few days.
In the studio we have our political commentator George Reeves standing by - George, what is Longhorn wishing to get out of this today?"
***Screen goes to the studio, a short, balding man sits at a desk, quite formally***
"I believe that Longhorn will be trying to drum up support for his rebellion, mainly in other areas today. He has massive support here and in the other rebel regions, but the rest of the country blame him for the bombing on the defence towers and other bungles that have occured during this dispute"
***Screen returns to the town hall, where Longhorn begins***
Emily Smart says "Sorry George, Longhorn is beginning"
P.J. Longhorn, dressed casually in trackpants and a T-shirt addresses the crowd "Fellow citizens, I come before you today to give an update on the situation surrounding our difficult transition to democracy.
I wish to first condemn the government and in particular President Cairo and General Hegbunnen for bombing the Whistler General Hospital and a camp where we had been sheltering those who fled the bombings when the loyalists took back Whistler. Many innocent lives were taken by the government. Those who support democracy feel sorry for those who are affected by these events.
This clearly shows why the regime must be stopped. Cairo and his cronnies are evil, evil men who are corrupted by their own power. I call on other regions to call free and open refferenda to show that the nation wants a democratic government.
As from today, poliical parties may be registered with my office. To do this, you will need the signatures of 500 like minded individuals who will become members of the party. When we hold our first elections, those running may be affiliated with these parties. To register you will also need a statement of principles by which the party wishes to be founded under.
We are going to continue the fight for democracy until we get what we deserve"
"Thankyou for coming today. I wish to inform you that in 3 days we will be holding a referrendum asking whether or not our citizens wish to be represented by a democratic government.
I am doing this as there seems to be deep divisions in this city regarding this issue, and I agree with Longhorn's sentiments that the people should be given their say on this issue.
I will be keeping a neutral view throughout the next 3 days. I wish in no way to influence the ballot, I have my views which I will keep to myself. Others are free to campaign for either side.
Thankyou."
Still in their meeting, Commander Blackwood of the SSS relays the rough location of General Hegbunnen to the president and his two freed generals. Weinderberg asks to be excused so he can see if he can find out more information.
He walks into the corridor and rings the head of the resistance in Astron - he asks "I want Weinderberg moved to a secure location in Elante, NOW. The loyalists are beginning to figure out where he is. Leave the other hostages in the hut, I will give the location of it to the president. Make sure they are tied up and the building is empty."
Weinderberg returns to the meeting and tells the other men "Weinderberg is at the old food factory in an security hut in Astron. Well done Commander Blackwood".
Stinson then asks "May I deploy a force to go into there and get him?"
The president replies "We dont have anyone near Astron, the nearest would be Mitchell or Whistler, but perhaps we should"
"RIDICULOUS? Ridiculous is being told that is the way it is to be done by YOU, Ridiculous is what he did with the botched attack on Sigma." says Weinderberg as he storms out of the room.
General Stinson, who is sitting next to Blackwood whispers "He has a temper that one." He then says "Give us 3 hours to prepare, we will conduct a sweep of that building and the factory itself then"
Meanwhile, a AX97 lands at the factory in Astron, just outside of the security hut. Several rebels board it with Hegbunnen tied and blindfolded. They leave the others tied to each other inside.
Abandoned Security Hut, Some old Factory, Astron
The Swinotopian agents survey the factory site for any sign of rebels. They come up empty. Their leader radios through to the commander of the army squadron poised with the task of rescuing General Hegbunnen "We have no sign of rebels in the vacinity. Theiy are either all in the hut or are elsewhere", The commander replies "We shall barrage the hut"
Within moments, the 250 soldiers land in AX97s on the grounds of the factory and run into the hut, with their rifles held ready. They sweep through the hut finding only the hostages who were with Hegbunnen - tied up and tied together in the corner of a large room. The soldiers untie the hostages and begin asking them questions, unfortunately they gain no useful information.
The hostages and 15 soldiers make their way into one of the AX97s and head back to Neptune. The remainder stay and look for any clues as to where the General was taken.
Defence Tower Ruins, Neptune
It is now some 5 days since the bombing of the Defence Towers and an intolerable stench of decomposing human flesh fills the air. The rescuers resign themselves to the fact that they are not going to pull any more survivors out of the rubble, they haven't done so for 2 days.
The army personnel assisting the effort are ordered by the president to leave the cleanup to emergency services and civillian volunteers so they can focus on "more pressing issues". This angers many who have spent a large amount of time at the site over the past few days.
At the present time, the death toll is around 12,566.
Longhorn pauses for a moment then smiling replies "That is a good idea - kill Cairo and take the country. I should tell my followers you suggested that". Hegbunnen groans as he fights against the chains and screams "You do not have the power to take on Cairo. Cairo will crush you."
On the outskirts of Elante
The rebels had set up quite a substantial anti-tank baracade at the Northern edge of Elante City. As part of Operation Stun and Rescue, the loyalists decide to bomb the baracade at the same time as they attempt a rescue of Hegbunnen.
The loyalists use 3 B52s and a pair of F18s, in case the rebels pursue them. They do a single bombing run - destroying the anti-tank missle launchers and killing around 40 rebels.
Elante Central Prison
As the attacks on the outskirts of the city are being carried out, the local radiowaves are awash with rebel chatter about the bombings. The loyalists take advantage of this attention and fly 5 F18s to the prison facility. They fire upon the roof of the central compound where Hegbunnen is being held, setting it ablaze. A sole AX97 hovers overhead - dropping SSS agents into the compound. The F18s then fire sidewinders upon the several watchtowers of the prison, leveling them completely.
A sole guard walks out into the excercise yard, firing his pistol at an F18 - obviously obvlivious to the fact that such a measure is acheiving nothing. With phase 1 of the operation complete, the SSS are left to rescue Hegbunnen in a facility where they are outnumbered by guards.
