We still need a map of Mageria with the names of cities, etc. The 1st army group advanced 2 miles through the desert and captured an Enemy Base equiped with an airport. Fighting was firce and there was from the Duechlander Statistics, 12 dead for Duechlander, but 50 troops Wounded. The Duechlander Airforce jets (F-18 Hornets) took off from an unspecified air base in duechlander and started for the freshly captured Airbase. (OCC) expect new equipment coming from Duechlander and Allied Nations.OOC: You're not related to DeVlaamseLeeuw, are you? ;)

From "A call for international peacekeepers (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=403971&page=19&pp=15)":

The land forces were on their own , but had suffered more losses the more they went into the land...
they stopped after finding an old militairy fortress, that was more like a fruin but a good spot for resting and easey to defend.Need a castle? Invent a castle! Need an airfield? Invent an airfield!

The Right Way to Do It:

Duechlander (TG to Malgeria): Hey, how close is the nearest military-grade airstrip to my landing beach?
Malgeria (TG to Duechlander): It's over here, thus-and-such far away. It's defended by thus-and-such.
Duechlander (TG to Malgeria): Cool, I'm going to RP its capture...

The Wrong (as in "Godmoding") Way to Do It:

Duechlander (to Self): I need an airfield so that I can bring in local air support...
Duechlander (Posting): The 1st army group advanced 2 miles through the desert and captured an Enemy Base equiped with an airport ... The Duechlander Airforce jets (F-18 Hornets) took off from an unspecified air base in duechlander and started for the freshly captured Airbase.

See the difference?

Fighting was firce and there was from the Duechlander Statistics, 12 dead for Duechlander, but 50 troops Wounded62 casualties is not "firce", it's just another day on the battlefield. A 500-600 dead is fierce.

Look, I'm on his side and I'm not going to recognize his actions. He hasn't posted locations, troop equipment, deployment meathods, or any manner of political reasoning behind this attack on Malgeria. It isn't legitimate that he be involved in this. Add that to the fact that every on of his posts carries with it blatant godmodes and it really makes it hard to take this kid seriously.

Oh, also, one thing I wanted to clarify:

Even if you could, there is no way it could deploy so quickly (assuming immediate deployment, your landings might be plausable in, say 9 days, without preperation.)

That implies that he can't just jump into the middle fo a battle. Wait for a break in the action, let some time pass, and then jump in. Just appearing out of nowhere is absolute bull.

The Landing Zones - Tocrowkia
[OOC: Actually, before you start to claim casualties for your own jets let me post my reply, because you're going to be loosing more than fourteen jets.]

The RADAR (RAdio Detection And Ranging) system present on the beach was composed of a six man team and a huge super computer on an RV type vehicle spread around a mixture of surface to air missile batteries and artillery guns. It was a huge target but the men found solace that there were another sixty present across both beaches and that the vehicle held some of the most advance RADAR systems in the hands of any human nation. Indeed, the Icarus RADAR system was extremely well built and coupled with the high flying AWACs running off the decks of the Raus class Escort Carriers steaming hundred of kilometers off the beach the RADAR net was one powerful beast which any enemy aircraft would find hard to surpass or get around.

Captain Karl Jurgen was eating from a bag of potato chips when he threw them to the floor and stood up looking at the screens arrayed to his forefront. He took a phone and pressed a huge red button next to it and through it yelled,"With have bogies coming down niner-eight degrees. No IFF marks, these must be hostile."

The reciever was the commander of the surface to air missiles around all the sectors and he rigged the beach defenses for immediate action. Those jets would be blown out of the air before they could do any damage. Within the arch of five hundred kilometers anything flying that wasn't marked with IFF codes was a dead man. The mobile Praetorian batteries arrayed accross the sands of the beach began to spit missiles and spill fire to their rear as Praetorian V after Praetorian V bolted electrically out of the slots in the clips. Each Praetorian battery had twenty Praetorian Vs although with all the Praetorians present the usage of all this fire power wouldn't be needed. The RADAR screens counted quite a few aircraft, a total of twenty-four [OOC: You said each one fired a missile with a napalm warhead and there were a total of twenty-four missiles. I'm guessing that's the amount of aircraft as well] so a single Praetorian battery let loose its entire stock while another one let out four, meaning that each Praetorian V surface to air missile would be matched with a single enemy fighter jet.

The Praetorian V was quite the missile. Using a solid fuel rocket booster it would gain height and then kick in using its SCRAMjet propulsion. What SCRAMjet did was negate the need for an oxygen tank since the oxygen used to burn the fuel would come from the atmosphere, meaning that the missile could exchange the old oxygen tank with more fuel, giving the missiles a great range. Indeed, the Praetorian V had a range of five hundred kilometers using its SCRAMjet engine. If the Praetorian V had to be used for sea-skimming operations it would have a range of about one hundred and fifty kilometers.

Sadly, but understandably, not all the enemy jets had been shot down, as some had been able to evade however difficult that was. It was just a show of how well trained the Tocrowkian pilots were, but a considerable amount had been destroyed nonetheless. Those who had survived were able to release a missile each and these missiles were engaged by the phalanx style close-in weapon system on each of the Panzer XI BredtSverdt tanks and were completely blown out of the sky without causing any damage on the beaches - the attack was too piecemeal to defeat a Macabee army already in full strength.

The aircraft that had survived the first wave were quickly targetted by more Praetorian Vs in order to ensure that they wouldn't survive the second wave. The skies were patterned with a red and orange glow and the shrill screams of missiels leaving their Macabee stocks were enough to put anybody on the edge of their seat. It was a massacre, and it looked as if it was one sided, because it would be impossible that any of those Tocrowkian jets were able to escape, meaning at least twenty-four pilots had lost their lives while no Macabee soldiers was even wounded.

Tocrowkian artillery also started to act up and this actually claimed some Macabee lives, however, the haphhazard job that was being done was to be repaid tenfold. The KriGud self propelled artillery guns elevated their cannons, each one with four rotating muzzles, and within a minute each KriGud put a total of four shells into the air. The KriGud was armed with a technology called 'mercy mission' which basically allowed said four shells to saturate four different targets at exactly the same time, meaning that an enemy could be completely destroyed before they even know artillery had started to fire - decreasing the chances of counter-battery fire. There were some twenty KriGuds present at the time to open fire so a total of eight shells were to land at exactly the same time on Tocrowkian artillery batteries. Accuracy was not an issue. Using super computers to complete simple trigonometry as well as ranging lasers the shells would hit exactly where they had been told to hit. After every four round launch the KriGuds would move areas to avoid counter-battery fire and then would fire another four shells each, meaning that the Tocrowkian would feel the heat of an extremely powerful adversary.

The commanding officers prided themselves over the discipline shown by their soldiers, however, when they heard the rumble of tanks coming from the hills they looked at each other and one even acclaimed,"Are they insane? Are they wishing for death?"

Indeed, using laser rangings said Tocrowkian tanks which were trying to cross onto the beaches were hit by massive amounts of Javaline anti-tank missiles. The Javaline was shoulder held anti-tank missile launcher which fired a smaller 50mm wide SABOT which would pick up speed to about 3.7 kilometers per second and the encasing of the SABOT would peel off showing a depleted uranium rod which would cut a swath right into the Tocrowkian armor. As if it wasn't enough the Macabee BredtSverdt opened up firing their own 120mm SABOT out of their 120mm ETC guns, smashing the Tocrowkian armor before the enemy armor could even see the Macabee ranks. It was a slaughter for the ages.

To add to the carnage the Tocrowkian infantry began to pour down from the hills right after firing their shots which had been to innacurate to do much damage when the Macabee infantry were protected by SOV-06 infantry fighting vehicles, armor, and behind barricades. The BredtSverdt opened up first with their three machine guns, spraying the Tocrowkian lines with huge rounds, piercing through the Tocrowkian infantry and cutting them down in droves. Behind them opened up infantry machine gunners and those carrying assault rifles. Were they insane? Three thousand infantry were no match for forty thousand! Especially when those forty thousand were marked with better training and better weapons. The Tocrowkian wouldn't have time to reach the lines for hand to hand combat. To add insult over injury the battleships from afar began to bombard the Tocrowkian lines with their huge eighteen inch rail guns.

This day would go down in history as one of the most violent of the ages.... however, it was safe to say that the beaches had been captured and thusly, Kzir Island was ripe for the taking.

***In the Office of the Emporer***

The Emporer let out a deep sigh. He looked over the reports from the Shazbotdom Intelligence Agency about how fighting is progressing between Malgeria, Malgeria's allies, Parthia and Parathia's allies. He then turns to his computer and punches up the latest numbers for his armed forces. He begins to talk to himself.

"Alright. The Ghosts are deployed in Europe watching the Nazi Nations. Naval Havoc Groups 1 through 5 are deployed to Asia trying to help defend the Brittish Empire's colonies from being attacked by Anime Supporters. 1/4 of the army is deployed to that region also. Havoc Naval Group 7 is deployed to the area near Corey's Land to give medical attention to them. 2 Million troops are deployed to Asia and 100,000 are deployed to protect the M.A.S.H. units that accompany Havoc 7. If i do decide to send troops to help, what do i do with them?"

He taps past a file but then it catches his eye. He goes and opens it up. Sifting through the data in the file, he comes across some data that was sent to him from the Military R&D.

"Maybe these new weapons might help. But damn, we haven't tested them thoughly enough. And we don't have enough built yet. Maybe a small contingent of Marines with the new body armor, and these weapons, to protect non-government buildings..."

The Emporer then presses a call button on his desk.

A voice from the box says, "Is there something i can do for you, Emporer?"

"Get me General Chang."

"Yes, Sir."

The Emporer then pushes a button and a large door on the wall opens to show a screen. As he finishes up getting everything situated, General Chang enters the room.

Chang: "You wanted to see me, sir?"

Emporer: "Yes. You are familiar with the Omega Project, are you not?"

Chang: "Yes sir. I headed up R&D for 6 months before i was put in charge of the Marines."

Emporer: "Well. This is what i want done. The Omega Project has come up with some new weapons. They have dubbed them the XK Series. We have begun to produce them, but on a small scale basis. There is the XK-01 Handgun, XK-02 Battlerifle, XK-03 Sub-Machine Gun, XK-04 Sniper Rifle, and XK-05 Missle Launcher. I want a Contingent of 100 Marines prepped within the hour for a test run of these weapons."

Chang: "I'll get my best men ready for this mission."

Emporer: "Hold on. I also have new Armor that i want tested." He puts images of these weapons and armor on the screen. "I am going to put out an international message stating our intent to be a peacekeeping force and send all nations involved our IFF's so they know who we are when we get there. Defend the positions that i will relay to your teams to the best of your ability. You are dismissed."

Chang: "Yes, sir. I'll get my men ready."

***OFFICIAL IMPERIAL STATMENT***

It is the decision of the Holy Empire of Shazbotdom that we are to send a peacekeeping force. These troops are to protect the innocents of the nations being invaded. If there are any attacks upon these peackeeping troops, it will result in the Empire sending a retaliation attack upon the attacking nation. This contingent of troops will have 100 Marines using beta versions of new weapons systems.

Your peacekeepers will not be allowed through the fleets of Parthia and the Macabees and if they try they will be liquidated. This is a warzone - it is within international rights. Furthermore, any retaliation officially funded by the Shazbotdom government on attacking forces will be considered a decleration of war and the Macabee military will respond accordingly.

We appologize. We are redirrecting them to a secondary location. It is right outside the war zone. It will guard a village near the boarder of the country being attacked in a neutral nation. We will try and make sure none of the attacked nations troops do not try and flee from the area. We just want to keep civilian casualties in the area down to a minimum. Non-combatants who don't like what their government, or neighboring governments, doing shouldn't be punished for the governments stupidity.

Again, we will redirect our troops toward a neutral target for peacekeeping duties.

Flight: Purification, Destination: City of Malger

The shadow of night was falling fast, and with it, would come the deaths od thousands as twelve B-2 stealth bombers made their way over Malgeria carrying a load of incindiary weapons and clusterbombs. Satellites had mapped the city of Malger, in many passes over the enemy city of mosques and pathetic ghettoes, the city had been studied and population densities noted for the strike. Each of the B-2s had a particular target assigned to them, usually a large mosque in a highly populated area, though Captian Bijan Taheri, lead pilot for this mission, was assigned the dense area around the Bazaar. As he moved over the city, seeing the blackness below from a blackout policy, he switched on low light imaging devices and looked for his target. As the bazaar came closer and closer, he hit the arming switch to his bombs and prepared to drop as his target became closer anc closer.

A column of aircraft from Oman closed in fast with E-6s in the front, jamming Malgerian radar while 300 F-78s moved in rapidly to attempt intercepting any enemy MIGs the Arabs could pull of the ground for a quick shoot down. More Persian aircraft followed in, including JSFs armed with HARM missiles for use on SAMs and radars and 35 B-1s, packed full of clusterbombs.

Off the Coast of Hafar-Al-Kut, Malgerian Sea

Hafar-al-Kut looked like a joke of a town, sitting off on the rocky and sandy Malgerian coast. Admiral Bakhtiar removed the binoculars from his eyes while officers swarmed around the bridge of the Shah Shapur. He gave his orders, "Give me a lightshow, blow up everything." An officer then screamed, "Sir, the Shah has given us new orders, destroy the entire town using any means short of nuclear weapons. Authorization to use VX gas granted." Admiral Bakhtiar thought for a moment and then spoke, "We should hold onto our weapons to use when we really need them for a final trump card I think. Just use napalm and explosives for this one." The officer saluted as he went to the radio. "Fire at the city, use all conventional weapons unil everything is ash and rubble." The massive guns of the superdreadnoughts turned towards the city, and with a puff of fire and smoke, shot their massive shells packed with explosives at the city. Lighter 8 inch guns fired airbursting incindiary shells, each one exploding in the air and covering an area around and below it with burning napalm. From the aircraft carriers, flights of JSFs roared off with napalm under their wings, dropping it around mosques and apartments. Admiral Bakhtiar looked at the carnage and laughed as he thought of how easy the marines would have it.

Since Parthia is about to release havoc on the city, I think I'll be reporting quite a lot soon...

"We don't see aircraft yet..." began Fatima Ajouff, then she interrupted herself. "No, there!"

Barely visible on the cameras was the yellow flame of the B-2's engines as it soared right over their position like a vast, evil bat. It was the angle; they were lucky, because the engines baffles concealed the low light from every other vantage point...

In the Great Name of the Eternal Creator, Fatima thought, He's not targetting the government offices, he's targetting the slums around the Bazaar!!!

For the next few weeks, I'm really not going to be able to keep up with this RP postwise, so I'd like to know if it would be alright to set this one aside and put it on hold until a less hectic time comes up. Then, maybe all the original players who had to leave because of business could come back and we could get down to some serious RPing in this thread. If you're not alright with the arrangement, then we can continue, but my posts will definitely be few and far between.

A letter is sent to all involved.

The Queendom has been watching this war progress over the last few weeks(or months, which ever), and we are at a crossroad. On one side, we think it is a shame everybody is abandoning Malgeria, and the fact Malgeria is suffering so badly. In retrospect, how ever, we feel we must help our IADF friends, as their suffering is equally as great. How ever, becoming involved in a hostile way goes against our very nature.

So, therefore, we propose that we send two armies of Support Personnel to provide assitance to both sides, containing medical staff and advisors to care for injured soldiers and civilians, water and food trucks to provide civilians and soldiers with nourishment, and plowing equipment to clear rubble from the streets.

It is, how ever, known that we may not be wanted in this conflict, so therefore that is why we are asking for permission to mobilize these forces to provide equal assitance to both sides in this war. Also, we would be happy to host peace talks within our nation.

Peace be with you,
Queen Alexandria.

City of Malger

It was a very clear night, and from the rooftops looking to the north and east, it was possible to see the many flashes on the horizon as the naval war raged between Parthian vessels and the allies of the Jihad. The rumbling of the guns resembled thunder of a distant sea storm, drifting over the ridges and hills of the arid landscape.

The residents of Malger who chose to remain in the city had been urged to turn out their lights as dusk fell, and to cover their windows with cloths to keep any ambient light from candles and television sets from providing targets for enemy pilots.

On the roof of the Badr hotel, Mohammad Abdul-Fattah stared intently through a pair of old binoculars, a relic of his father’s days serving the king in a forgotten, nameless war. As the sky was absent of the glow of the city lights, he was able to make out the silhouettes of the buildings of the distant town of Sadaquat, located on a flat plain a few kilometers from the coast.

On a small white plastic table a portable radio sat, softly broadcasting the latest from ANN. Quite suddenly, the voice of the radio anchor was cut off by a loud shriek, and the wail of air raid sirens filled the air. The young man hastily slung the binoculars around his neck, and scrambled towards the door to the stairwell, grabbing his AK-47 off of a wooden chair on his way. Before he reached the door however, the roar of jet engines began to grow louder, and he turned to look to the sky.

Shimmering silhouettes streaked overhead at obscene rates, and shortly after they passed, the earth shook so violently, that Mohammad was thrown to the ground, a roaring explosion and fiery mushroom cloud appearing over the skyline in the distance. The orange bulbs began to appear across the rows of buildings, mostly concentrated in the south and eastern sections of the city. Shortly after the raid began, the thunder of AA cannons mingled with the din, and yellow tracers could be see flying high into the black sky.

The man grabbed his rifle, and his binoculars from where they had fallen, and quickly scrambled into the stairwell, rushing the five flights to the ground floor. He entered the lobby, and ran directly into Qudamah Niahm, a longtime friend and fellow Mujahid. The man stepped back and his face showed relief.

“Come on! We’ve got to get to the basement.”

The two men hurried across the room to an open door revealing a flight of concrete steps. Entering the cavernous stairway, Niahm slammed the door shut, and secured it with a metal bolt, before following his compatriot downstairs to the room where several dozen others had found sanctuary.

Outside, the bombs continued to rain, largely on the slums, and the sky turned bright as day with the repeated flashes of incendiary explosives. Outside the city, Malgerian SAM batteries had taken aim on a new flight of incoming Parthian aircraft, and hundreds of missiles streaked into the sky to compliment the AA fire that emanated from the rooftops over the capital. Bright orange clouds of fire were followed by burning metal scrap falling to slam into the still warm desert sands.

Outside the city, in the airfields on the edge of the desert, pilots scrambled to the cockpits of their aircraft, primarily Mig-29s. However, in an airfield a few kilometers south of Malger, the airfield was overcome by the enemy before the planes could get off the ground. Strafing runs set off fuel trucks, which sent huge balls of fire into the night sky, taking out a nearby hangar and dozens of aircraft waiting inside.

Missiles streaked towards the runways, destroying Migs as they attempted to get airborne. Still, a few managed to make it through the chaos, and engaged the enemy aircraft. At such a close range, the Migs would stand a better chance.

When the explosions began to decrease in frequency and it was clear that the hotel had remained intact, Mohammad cautiously made his way up the stairs. Realizing that he had gone, Niahm leapt to his feet, and rushed after him. Mohammad stepped out into the hot night air, and looked up at the smoke filled sky. The screech of an engine exploded behind him, and he hit the ground, covering the back of his head. The roar of an explosion met his ears, and he turned his head skyward to see a flaming object arcing over the buildings, towards the ground.

Slowly he got to his feet, and shouldered his gun. A new plume of smoke had joined the others, this one thin and grey, emanating from the remains of the downed aircraft. Niehm appeared beside him, turning his eyes skyward as well.

“Welcome to Malgeria, you motherfuckers.”

Fedayeen military facility, edge of the Malgerian Desert

Abd Al-Quadir glared at the Kfir seated before him. Interrogation was always a frustrating business. He was certain the man was not who he said he was. If he could only make him confess that truth. He gestured to the two goons standing on either side of the chair where the foreigner was seated, and they grabbed him and roughly hoisted him to his feet, still restraining him. Abd brought his face mere inches from that of the other man, and spoke quietly, his voice full of subtle menace.

“You are lying to me. We both are aware of this. If I was a rash man, I would kill you now, where you stand, but fortunately for you I am not a rash man.”

He spoke slowly, emphasizing his words carefully.

“You have two options. You can tell me the truth, or I’m going to hurt you.”

“I’m not lying to you. I’m a reporter.”

The Fedayeen officer nodded his head slowly.

“Sit him down.”

The guards thrust the man back into the chair.

“Pull his arms back.”

The guards did as told, and the man winced. Abd nodded to the soldier at the door. The guard walked over to a table in a dark corner, and grabbed something. As he stepped into the light, it was revealed to be a battery. He placed the object on the floor, and stepped back. Abd looked at the prisoner once again.

But yeah, I'm also having alot of trouble remembering what was going on, but I do sincerely want to continue now that I'm out of school for the summer. Flight Purification: Over Malger
The light of thousands of explosions lit up the ground below, a combination of cluster weapons, regular bombs, and napalm hit much of the city, and left hopefully thousands dead. Captian Bijan Taheri smiled at the thought of 10,000 less insurgents for the footsloggers to kill. Warning lights went off, the dim red glow of the light on the HUD and the frantic beeping produced an automatic reflex in the Veteran Persian Pilot, to pull up as fast as possible.

Knowing the jamming made radar guided missiles virtually unusable, he realized they were probably heat seekers. "Missiles inbound!" Screamed Captian Taheri on the radio. The Bombers pulled up, dropping flares as they went while the advanced F-78 escorts did the same, dropping flares and executing complicated maneuvers. Captian Taheri pulled straight up, rolling as he dove down to the left, with several pilots following. Flares dropped automatically as the missiles came closer, some were sucessfully destroyed by the decoys, but others continued forward.

Captian Taheri gave another order, "Activate active countermeasures." The advanced F-78s activated their countermeasure pods underneath their airplanes, activating microwaves directed at the missiles designedto fry the hardware and destroy them. Most planes were saved, but five were swamped with so many missiles their countermeasures failed to destroy all those attacking them.

More threats appeared before the men as visual sightings of incoming Migs drove them up, and then diving down directly towards them, flak lit up the sky, taking out planes now and then, fortunatley they were firing blind, but that might possibly change. Hopefully, phase II would change that. Now, Captian Bijan Taheri would have to concentrate on on the dogfight, firing off two heat seeking AIM-155 Sidewinder II missiles, he quickly activated his gun, and unleashed a barrage of shells and tracers. Pilots near him did the same, before pulling up and preparing to dive back down on top of the Migs.

Phase II

Seargeant Rostam Shirazi enjoyed flying the E-6, a fine electronic warfare aircraft by most standards, he was being entrusted with an important mission, along with several other E-6 airplanes in Flight Purification. Twelve planes each carrying two HARM missiles were joining along, and they each had a specific target, a Malgerian radar site of some sort. Seargeant Shirazi knew where his was, and pressing the arm switch, he unleashed a pair of HARM missiles. The advanced guidance systems in the HARMs activated at once, guiding them down the radar beam to the designated Radar site. If the beam was turned off, the HARM would have the location in the guidance system memory and would continue to that location. With the other pilots taking targets of their own, hopefully Malger would be blind to future bombing raids. Now all that was left was to clear out Malger itself.

A trio of F-78s were laden down with bombs, not ordinary explosives, but on the sides, painted with toxic symbols and in Farsi, the words "Danger- Toxic" Each one was filled with mustard gas, a blister agent feared since World War one, and to an unsuspecting civilian populace, the gas would be deadly, especially since at about the same time an attack of VX would occur on Hafar-Al-Kut. The planes moved into the central area of the city, their drop zone chosen by the direction the wind blew so the gas would affect as many people as possible. On the order of "Unleash" Three bombs fell to the ground, and the aircraft fled up and then out to sea. As they fell, the bombs began to release their contents, spewing them over a wide area as the wind carried it down onto the unsuspecting city.

Vertiam is shocked and disgusted at the brutal actions taken against the new Islamic republic by the Parthians. These aforementioned actions include the use of mustard gas in combat along with numberous other chemical weapons as well as a pledge given to Malgeria from the Parthian delegation that they would give no mercy to any Malgerian citizen if they refused to become a Parthian satellite. This brutal attack against the Malgerian people is by all appearances unprovoked and is a flagrant violation of the geneva convention. Malgeria can count on Veritam to provide them with any non-military aid they need in order to rebuild their newly-freed nation after such a savage attack.

“Talk.”Justin sighed.

This is just not going to work out, he thought, regardless of what I say or do. It was time for some inspired damage control.

“I really am a reporter,” he began, “But as for being lost, well, I have to admit that's not quite true. I heard something, and I decided to check it out. Now, maybe what I heard isn't true, but then again maybe it is, and if so, what I heard is a lot more important than the exact nature of my profession.”

“That remains to be seen,” Al-Quadir said coldly, “What did you hear?”

“You have something here,” said Justin calmly.

“Then perhaps I should kill you now,” the Malgerian officer replied, unholstering his pistol, “Because you obviously know much more than you should.”

“Before you do anything,” offered DeVry , “You should know two things.”

“And those two things would be?” prompted Abd Al-Quadir.

“Well, first, that the others with me really don't know anything about this. They're just the hired help,” said the reporter “And the other is that, if I heard about the nuke, so have other people. And that puts you in a very, very dangerous position.”

There was silence. Al-Quadir had not expected that. For that matter, DeVry was mostly just guessing about the cargo that this man was being asked to safeguard, but his ultimate source was pretty reliable, and it was worth the gamble. Before the officer could recover, DeVry continued on.

“The most dangerous thing you can have is just one nuclear weapon. It's an open invitation to a pre-emptive strike. Nations find this out the hard way all the time. Trust me, if the Parthians learn about your prize, it will not go well for Malgeria.”

“Then I should definitely kill you,” said Al-Quadir, raising his pistol.

“Uh, I wasn't going to tell the Parthians. I was thinking more of telling my government. Or rather, my boss. She dated our President back in college, you know,” Justin blurted out. He was trying to act just the right amount of scared, which - under the circumstances, wasn't that hard.

“That is still not a good reason to let you live,” offered Al-Quadir, shaking his head sadly.

Time to play the trump card, thought Justin.

“What if my government was willing to work with yours to make sure that the Parthians didn't find out about it? Would that change the situation any?”

In the Great Name of the Eternal Creator, Fatima thought, He's not targetting the government offices, he's targetting the slums around the Bazaar!!!The light of thousands of explosions lit up the ground below, a combination of cluster weapons, regular bombs, and napalm hit much of the city, and left hopefully thousands dead. Captian Bijan Taheri smiled at the thought of 10,000 less insurgents for the footsloggers to kill.Captured by Mustafa's remote police cameras high atop the hotel and broadcast instantly to the world was the full impact of Parthia's bombing run: a symphony of explosions of various kinds carpeting the slums of Malger. Orange and yellow gouts of flame rolled skyward from the shattered homes and shops.

It took every ounce of Fatima's strength to keep her voice even. "The bomber strikes are clearly aimed at the residential district - the working class districts - of the city. Tens of thousands of people live in those homes and shops, and it is almost impossible to imagine that thousands of them aren't being killed by these attacks."

"There are no troops down there, just the Revolutionary Guards who patrol those streets against common criminals. We were down there yesterday, and that's what we saw. This is not an attack on Malgeria's military. This is an attempt to exterminate its people."

~~~~~~~~~~
As Fatima spoke, Hassan had an inspiration. "Get that footage from their visit to the slums yesterday and drop in in a small panel down in the corner of the screen ... yes, the one with the kids playing ball in the street ... now bring it up, just enough that people can see it, shrinking back the bombing ... now take us back to the raid, but leave those street scenes in the corner ... yes, just shrink them back where they were before."
He watched in horror, but with anger rising in his gorge. He was not normally quick to anger. Those bastards. Those filthy bastards.
It was a thought he shared with countless Muslims worldwide.
[Eastern Beaches of Kzir Island]
"What do you mean the task force is leaving? Do you think we can finish this island off alone? Don't cut me off, you son of a -"
Generalmajor Dietrich von Fastow threw the communication radio on the floor as the task force command and control cut him off. They were leaving them cold on the beaches. It was going to be another Anzio. The quagmire of Malgeria had finally picked up again after some sort of un-announced armstice and it turned out that the drive towards Kzir was going to continue. In the past months of war the Second Empire had landed just about five thousand men per beach, putting troop strength at ten thousand men total on Kzir Island. Originally, it had been planned to put a total of forty thousand men down, but the rest of the two divisions originally marked for the invasion were leaving with the ships, presumably because High Command was sending something a bit more modern and bit better adapted to winning wars.
Consequently, there were ten thousand men on Kzir Island, just ready to be cut off, with enough supplies to fight a defensive battle for about a month, and an offensive battle for much, much less, just waiting. It was another Anzio - another debacle in the making, if Malgeria took advantage of the situation.
However, von Fastow would not allow that to be easy. He took a seat in his oak field chair, spreading about six maps over a maple table, specially set up for himself and for his direct subordinates. To his front used to be a mass of enemy soldiers, however, the government of Trocowkia had decided to withdraw from the war, and Jonach, the infallable emperor, had given orders to allow them free passage back home. So, Jonach, in turn, had given up a perfect opportunity to drive foward to Kzir and capture the island - with most of the defenses now gone, and giant gaps in the beaches opened, it seemed like the perfect time to grab the iniative. Instead, High Command had ordered the fleets back home. This world was screwed up. But von Fastow wouldn't allow it to get to him.
His division's chief of staff sat upright beside him and von Fastow leaned over,"Place the southern beachead under the command of Oberstleutnant Helmut von Oster, and give him orders to hold as long as possible, and to pressure up north to keep our souther wing stable. I will take command of this northern beachead and drive for the city of Kzir. We have five thousand men at our disposal, and that should be just enough to begin operations towards Kzir. Once those supposed reinforcements come, with the new task force, we can finish off this island once and for all. But for now, we got to do this with no air support, no reinforcements, and no naval support."
He put his hand over his face and sighed. It was going to be a hard couple of days ahead. Intelligence claimed that the new task force, fully outlayed with brand new equipment, would arrive within seven days, but that could also mean fourteen to twenty-one. von Fastow would have to make the best of things with what he had at hand.
He got up and walked down the steps from his command tent on the beach. His subordinate colonels and majors and such turned around and saluted, only to be responded by,"At ease."
The others loosened up and Fastow divulged the bad news,"Suit up your men. We're sleeping here one more night, and tomorrow morning we move out. Kzir is our target. Briefing at 2400 hours. See you there."
The inky black enveloped the figures as they stalked silently through the jungle underbrush, surmounting the ridge that overlooked the eastern beach of the Isle of Kzir, and the Macabee encampments. In the gloom, one could just make out the silhouettes of the Mujahideen warriors, coming here to strike the first blow of the Jihad. As if Allah himself was covering their shapes with his hand, heavy clouds covered the moon, allowing the perfect darkness to remain undisturbed.
Between them, they carried Katyusha rockets, launchers, and mortars, ordinance enough to thoroughly shake the infidels’ garrison before melting back into the foliage and the gloom. At three separate positions overlooking the beach camps, Mujahideen fighters set up their weapons. There were forty of them total, all eager to send screaming fear into the hearts of their enemy.
With the care of patient hands, they adjusted their weapons, and waited for the signal. It came in the form of the cry of the Jihad, a shouted Allahu Ackbar, followed by a scream that could chill the blood of the heartiest man, the death whistle of the katyusha. With this, the cry was joined by forty more as the Mujahideen all unleashed their weapons on the enemy below. Mortar fire and rockets screamed into the night, as the Jihadists waited for the beautiful fiery results of their careful work. Whatever the statistical outcome, their efforts here would serve a purpose. The infidels now knew the Mujahideen were here, and they would not be content until there was not a single Macabean left standing on Kzir.
------------
Al-Quadir considered the prisoner before him. The man knew far more than he should, and he would not be out of line in simply putting a bullet between his eyes right now. He listened to the man’s latest offer.
“Even if we did have what you say we have, what difference does it make if Parthia knows. They are already killing innocents with impunity. I doubt it would mean much if they knew we had a nuclear device. The monsters will not rest until every last Malgerian is dead.”
He spat the last bit with palpable disgust, before snapping his attention back to his prisoner.
“No. It is not enough.”
The young Fedayeen officer stood, and gestured to the two grim faced soldiers standing guard by the door to take custody of the man.
In an effort to determine the current situation in the Malgerian-Parthian War, The Democratic Republic of Halberdgardia is deploying an Aurora-class reconnaissance aircraft to the airspace over Malgeria and the coasts. The data from the Aurora run will not be provided to anyone except our analysts at the HCIA, should any nation have fears that we intend to recon, say, the Parthian fleet, and then provide that intel to the Malgerians. Again, no data from the Aurora's run will be provided to any foreign nation. We ask that all involved nations please refrain from threatening or attacking the Aurora, as it poses no threat to any side.
Well, that naval battle is now over, with the drop out of MassPwnage, and the retirement of the other naval power in the area, leaving the Sea of Malgeria occupied by the Parthian's naval forces, as well as my own - which left to be replaced by much newer designs.
I've landed on Kzir Island, a large island off the coast of the main island that makes of Melgaria, and I guess I'm going to start a long trek towards guerilla warfare. -------------------------
[Apollo Beach [Northern Beach] - Kzir Island]
Private first Class Hans Krebbs looked to his right as he heard the shrill cry of,"Allahu Ackbar," coming from the mountains which enshrouded the beaches. Suddenly, that scream was joined by dozens of other shrieks, and the ebony skies filled with bright colors, red, orange, and the occasional blue. Krebbs shuddered - he had heard stories of these shrieks. Stalin's organs. The Germans had dispised these same machines during the second world war.
He turned to look somewhere else as a bright bulb spread through a section of the beachead, engulfing just sand. However, other strikes were much more unfortunate, killing soldiers and logistical personnel. Medics were running back and forth and defensive precautions ensued, however, there were still the dead and wounded.
Regardless, six Panzerwerfers moved into position, their tracks skirting on top of the sands of Apollo Beach, named after the Greek God of the Sun. Suddenly, and ferociously, it began to unleash hell as in a span of only eight seconds each Panzerwerfer let loose twelve 150mm rockets, meaning a total of seventy-two rockets. They were much faster and louder than the Katyusha, and if the Mujahideen thought that they would scare the Empire's best, they were about to meet something even more imposing. The rockets arched through the air, leaving only a small hint of color behind it, and arched back down into the origin of the Mujahideen's attack. Soon enough, those mountains were engulfed in a dreary fire of death, and the warheads on said rockets exploded. The napalm would seep in through the rocks - nothing would survive. The entire area of the attack would be burnt to a crisp.
The death toll back on the beach had been grave, but probably not as bad as that suffered by the attackers - this would be a conventional guerilla war. They would lose up to tenfold more than the Empire, but the Empire would spill so much blood it would lose all taste for battle. Regardless, eight men lay dead, and thirteen more wounded. Eight men were now lifted to the gates of heaven - and those warriors on Earth would carry on their revenge.
[OOC: W00t! Smeone remembered me.
I'm just going to update everyone on the situation as far as Novikov is concerned. I have around 420 surviving infantry, three MBTs, six light tanks, and a dozen APCs on the southern tip of Kzir - I say surviving because Abu Arabia's airstirke (Page 30 or 31) killed over 300 and took down most of my SAMs, not to mention forced my navy to withdraw. With the envy's withdraw, my infantry are just going to have to dig in - they've occupied the center of one town and are scattered across the beachhead - and hold out until someone comes south and relieves them. Think of my presence as a thorn in Malgeria's side.
That mentioned, I will also say that that thorn can be removed by a dedicated 1000-2000 Malgerian militia or 600-700 regular troops. With no artillery, air, or naval support, they're pretty much confined to their perimiter - though they may make some daring moves later on. ;)
Shortly after firing the rockets, many of the Mujahideen had scrambled to make their escape before the inevitable retaliation, however, half were not lucky enough to get out of range before the incendiary rockets unleashed hell on their position. Fiery napalm soaked their clothes and burned them black and unrecognizable as human beings. Still, the message had been sent regardless. There would be a war on Kzir island.
Over Malger
The Malgerian air force pilots knew full well that the chances of them returning to walk on the Earth after this mission were quite slim. They had been told before taking to the sky that whatever happened Allah was guiding them, and now it stuck with them in their hearts stronger than ever. They were many, 112 fine pilots flying dated but reliable aircraft, but they knew they were likely outnumbered. With the advanced nature of the enemy escorts, they had not expected their missiles to make much of a dent, and had been told they would have to rely on their guns. It was going to be a dogfight.
Captain Asad Al Amdi released his countermeasures and began evasive maneuvers as two heat seeking sidewinders locked onto his MiG-29. The missiles wound after the flares, and Asad wheeled around in search of a target. A Parthian F-78 was flying slightly above him, and he turned his nose on the aircraft and opened fire with his guns.
As the aircraft soared out of range, Asad’s radio crackled to life, static saturating the airwaves so that he could only just make out the words of his commander. The Parthians were using electronic warfare aircraft to saturate Malgerian frequencies with jamming signals. The commanders on the ground had now shifted the mission of most of the airborne pilots to one of hunting and destroying the E-6s. With those out of line, Parthian airpower would suffer a fatal blow. Asad still had a pair of AA missiles, and the rest of his squadron was in good condition. It now fell into his hands, and those of many others, to seek and destroy the jamming aircraft.
Flight Purification: Over Malger
Captian Homayoun Fardmanesh tore through the skies in his maneuverable F-78, laughing as he saw the dated aircraft struggle to keep up. Seeing a Malgerian airplane charging towards him, the talented Persian pilot pulled directly up, and then dove back down firing his rapid fire guns on the Malgerian, tearing it apart in a burst of flame and tracer. Setting his sights on another airplane, he fired off a pair of two Sidewinder II missiles. Calling on his radio, the flight leader now talked to his men, "Kill off these fighters while the support planes and bombers move out of range." These brave pilots were to act as a rear guard to the retreating bombers, now dropping their last weapons and turning tail for home.
Captian Bijan Taheri had long since finished his supplies of munitions, dropping them on the ghettoes of Malger and the bazaar. He was under strict radio silence, as were all B-2s, but now, freed of the loads of munitions, he turned for home, flying towards Parthian Oman. The B-2s and B-52s, under no such requirement of radio silence, recieved the orders, "Discharge all remaining munitions where you are and return for home." Hundreds more bombs were being dropped now, randomly on areas not designed for targetting, before the mobs of bombers turned for home. To further cover their retreat, 120 more F-78s were inbound from Oman, moving in rapidly towards Malger while the bombers rapidly moved out.
Undaunted by the show the Parthian F-78 ‘Sokols’ were putting on, the Malgerian pilots pressed on in their fight, their skills taking over where their airplanes lacked. Gunfire lit up the sky and fireballs the skyline, raining hellfire upon innocents and armed warriors alike while crumpled, burning fuselages rocketed to the earth.
Meanwhile, the toxic fumes of poison gas drifted through the streets, propelled by a dull wind moving seaward. Fortunately, knowing the Parthian fondness for the use of poison gas, a warning call had gone out early to the denizens of the city who dared remain, telling them to seal up their windows and doors with tape and heavy cloth. It had proved to be an effective message, and two thirds of those in the city had done as told. A few had purchased small protective masks in addition. Such tactics would help minimize the damage of the Parthian chemicals, however, many in the slums had not heard or had ignored the warnings, and now many choked silently, huddled in their homes.
The effect on Hafar al Kut was far more dismal. Many in the eastern coast city had fled into the desert, but among those remained, there would be a nearly 75% casualty rate, almost 45,000 people dead from the attack.
When the Malgerian mujahideen fighters learned this news, however, there would be little fear in their hearts, and no lessening the flame in their eyes. They knew that the Parthians were devils, and that their war was one not for themselves, but for Allah, and the vibration of the presence of the Almighty now ran stronger than ever in the souls of the warriors. Their enemies had fierce weapons, this was certain, but they went into battle without the will of the divine. There was only one superpower in the minds of the mujahideen, and his support lay with them. The Parthian attacks only reinforced what they already knew. They had come with murder in their eyes, expecting the people of Allah to roll over and submit, but they would find their task far more difficult than they had expected, if not entirely impossible.
I researched the effects of mustard, so I can make this a tad more realistic.
Equipped with proximity fuses, the mustard gas bombs exploded just above the ground, atomising the viscous liquid contained within them and thus producing clouds of tasteless, odourless gas. When impure, mustard emits a faintly detectable scent, similar to garlic, cayenne, or other aromatic cooking spices (slightly sweet, and yet with a strong acidic bite); hence, the origin of its name.
But the Parthians loved their chemical weapons, and so this concoction, almost pure, gave off little sign of its presence as it wafted across the slums.
Worse, mustard takes time to act; a person may not experience any discomfort for hours after exposure. Thus, while those nearest the detonations realised that something was amiss and took the most effective countermeasure any civilian can take - running away as fast as they could - downwind, the inhabitants of the slums were not so lucky.
Each bomb produced a trail of contamination, less than 100 metres wide but five kilometres or more in length. The gas drifted into people's homes, collecting in cellars and low-lying places while bypassing steps and leaving many on the upper floors of buildings utterly untouched.
Had nothing else happened that night, casualties might have be relatively low. Even in the dense slums of the developing world, people usually sleep upstairs, both because upper stories enjoy better breezes and because unsavoury things that come out at night - on two legs as well as four - tend to keep to the ground and the shadows below.
But the earlier bombing had levelled many homes and stores, and started raging fires besides. People sought to drag their families and their possessions out into the safety of the streets; others fought the fires, while still more listed for the screams and moans of their neighbours, trapped beneath the rubble.
Amidst the smoke, fire, despair, and confusion, no one could smell the gas. A few people thought to don gas masks - word had gone out of the Parthians' delight in such inhumane concoctions - but that was no blessing. Mustard, after all, was designed to penetrate clothing and even rubber; the Germans had developed it in the Great War precisely to counter the proliferation of gas masks. At best, those with masks were able to save their eyes, noses, mouths, and lungs from the caustic gas. But their armpits and groins were still vulnerable, and many would suffer because of this - all the more so, in fact, because their masks gave them the illusion of safety.
It was only hours later, as they were trying to sort out their lives in the wake of the fiery carnage, that some, and then more, and then large numbers began to cough, to find their eyes tearing uncontrollably, began to find their skin itching and burning. As the first of these arrived at the hospital, most were misdiagnosed as having suffered from smoke inhalation. Then, as the numbers grew, it was thought that perhaps some businessman's stock of chemicals or plastics had caught fire and exposed the victims to acrid smoke. It was only after many more hours that the telltale shiny yellow blisters told the authorities what they were dealing with: sulphur mustard.
Too many mistakes had been made by then. Eyes had been covered with gauze rather than being shielded by dark plastic glasses. Burn wounds had been treated with ointments rather than being thoroughly flushed with water. And inhabitants had not been told to abandon their salvaged belongings, covered as they were with the toxic substance; instead, these few precious remaining possessions had been hauled to the homes of family members, exposing them (and especially their children) to further contamination.
Worst were the victims who had been pulled from the wreckage of the earlier attack, and those who had delved down into that wreckage to save them. Mustard sinks, being heavier than air, and their immobility or prolonged presence in the area - especially at or below ground level - left them facing the greatest risk.
Thus some who might have otherwise survived their burns were now burned again, this time by a caustic chemical. In many cases, the combination of their burn wounds and these new injuries were simply too much; this was especially true for infants, children, and the elderly. They died horrible, painful deaths. But not all were among society's most vulnerable; scores of fedayeen who had set aside their arms and toiled to save their countrymen found that their piety and love for their fellow man led them to pay the ultimate price.
Many were the martyrs accepted into the embrace of Allah (may His name be forever praised) on that awful night. At least 5,000 had died from the gas attacks before the end of the week, for mustard does not kill swiftly - most victims die after either three or eight days, depending on the nature of their exposure.
They would still be alive, then, on the following day, when ANN film crews came around the hospitals to document their fate for the world to see.
Secretary of State Edith Mayenne raised her hand in a gesture of futility. "What can we do?"
"Didn't the King of Kingladn announce his support for the Parthians?" asked the President.
"Yes," said the Secretary. "What are you thinking?"
"How much does Kingladn spend on defence?"
She punched it up on her handheld. "About one hundred billion livres, Mr. President, converted into our currency."
"And our last approved defence budget was what ... over a trillion livres?!?"
"Over 1.2 trillion livres, Mr. President," she corrected. "Over a dozen times more than Kingladn."
"Warn Kingladn not to interfere in the Malgerian affair," said the President icily.
OOC: Kingladn, take a hint and withdraw from this conflict.
Flight Purification
The F-78s rocketed through formations of Mig-29s, tearing up Malgerian in bursts of tracers and shells while dodging missiles the Malgerians tossed their way. Captian Homayoun Fardmanesh pulled his F-78 directly down, before rocketing back up and unleashing a sidewinder II as he pulled underneath a Mig. Other pilots showed their aerial acrobatic skills, moving their planes around in complicated high-G maneuvers as they discharged missile after missile at the brave but underequipped Malgerians.
Meanwhile, Captian Bijan Taheri pulled his B-2 up high, beyond Malgerian territorial waters. He was one of the last bombers to leave and was rapidly heading back to Oman, there he could refuel and get some rest. He began to think, how many lives he ended in his raid, and then pushed the thought out of his mind and spoke to himself, "They aren't human, they want to kill me and my nation, good riddance to them." With that, he thought of an ice cold beer back at base he would get as soon as he was debriefed.
Unbenownst to him, another flight of five B-2 bombers moved through the athmosphere, loaded with incindiary munitions, and headed straight for the main desalinization plant of Malger. Parthian strategic command, and in particular, the Shah, greatly desired to exterminate as many of what they termed, "Possible Insurgents" as humanly possible. The command had decided to induce a famine and a massive lack of water in the desert cities to try and kill as many people as possible. Captian Tamasp Shirazi now was leading this effort of extermination. He slid forward to the target on the coastline and soon enough, a group of bombs flew downwards, leaving the next planes to follow the lead of Captian Shirazi.
Off Hafar Al-Kut
Admiral Bakhtiar looked with pleasure at the flaming destruction that had overtaken the city of Hafar al-Kut. Thousands were probably dead, a shame to the admiral who looked forward to the troops bringing back the slaves that came with every Parthian conquest. A shame indeed, but this city was going to be a rebellious one. The Shah had given him orders for what to do, so what would be better than to reduce the rebellious city to a desolate wasteland? Picking up the radio, he gave a simple order: "Commence fire using special ordinance." The guns of the destroyers and cruisers opened up in a cacophany of smoke and flame, firing off shells which let go of their contents in a thin spray as they moved over a target area in the rear of the coastal city. The shells were filled with VX, a nerve agent capable of dealing a quick death to the unfortunate people caught in a storm of it. Hopefully, the natural land to sea breeze would cause the contents of the shells in the back of the city to be carried to the beachward side. F-78s moving above the city below now prepared to engage enemy fighters in air superiority missions while the final move to the landings went into effect. Hovercrafts loaded with Parthians in their IFVs and APCs skirted towards shore, some were loaded with M-29 MBTs. The men in the M-35 IFVs and the Parthian APCs were covered in the Parthian standard battle armor, kevlar and ceramic plate armor all over the body with a helmet that included a HUD with thermal, night vision, and binocular sighting and a gas mask. The entire system was CBW sealed, which allowed for the soldiers to operate in the contaminated environment. M-29 assault rifles were being caressed by the brave Parthian soldiers. Hopefully, the Malgerians would be broken by superior technology and numbers.
