Ok, in two more days we will start.
Sounds good. I better start marching to Helm's Deep.
Is this RP going to strictly follow the book/movie or can we do things a bit differently?
SouthKelmdorp
22-11-2004, 06:08
well, yes and no.
The warfare, units, and weapons will. but, i thought id twist it a bit to where you can bash anybody, as in like Mordor can attack the Haradrim, isengaurd can attck mordor etc etc. Its a sumo free lance.
But, major battles from the book like Helms deep and The pelennor can still happen. Its jsut a matter of how people would like to play.

We could be the southrons. They sort of got short shrift in JRR's version. I could perhaps give them a little more culture and dignity.
And better Oliphaunt handlers.

May I be Gondor?
Come on people, this is gonna be really cool!
I'll take the Noldor (unless Independent Hitman decide to be High Elves. Then I'll be the Numenoreans).
OOC: This information comes from the Silmarillion, not LOTR Actually, there are four different kinds of Elves: Vanya, Noldor, Teleri, and Silvan. Before the First Age, when the Elves awoke, they migrated west in three groups: The Vanya, The Noldor, and the Teleri. Some Teleri, however, left the March east of the Misty Mountains and were known afterwards as Silvan Elves (Wood Elves). When the three Houses of Elves reached Beleriand on the western coast of Middle-Earth, they crossed the sea to Valinor, except for some of the Teleri. They would become the Moriquendi (Elves of the Dark; who'd never beheld the Two Trees) and those who departed became the Calaquendi (Elves of the Light; those who had seen the Trees). Eventually, Melkor is released, steals the Silmarils, and Feanor leads the Noldor back to Beleriand, but that's another story entirely.
OOC2: Have you thought about adding the Valar (the Lords of the West) and the Maiar (their servants)?
I think the author of this thread wants to keep it a LOTR type thing, but whatever. Ask him.
SouthKelmdorp
23-11-2004, 04:04
Yeah, id have to argee with Zarbia on this. Ive never read the Silmaillion, so lets keep it LOTR. Tomzilla, yes you can be gondor, Malkyer i'd go with the Numenoreans just avoid anymore delays (which i made i know :D ). But, we got the major players now, and i know every body wants to start, so lets do it. If anyone still wants to join, you can. We will just try to stick you in some how.

OOC: Ok, i think ill make the first move on the chess board here.
IC: As the sun rose above the moutains, Eomer stood upon the steps of the golden hall of Theoden. He sighed deeply and called Gamling the old to him.
"Gamling, what news of Theodred?" "Last i heard sire, he was on the move in the west with one company under him, to crush a party of orcs and wild men." "How many orcs? Gamling?" Gamling looked down upon the city, and said "Is not known sire, but they are no normal orcs. They are bigger, and faster with thick armour and sharp blades." This had a deep impact on Eomer, and he at last said "Muster two Companys, have one make a patrol around Edoras, and i shall lead the other to the west to find Theodred.
As the host of eomer left edoras, the kings counciler Grima wurmtouge had turned to the king...and begun to whisper in his ear. "Eomer has left your city my lord, he has...left you with out defenses....he is a tratior.."
"Ah, Grima, you are always doubting me. We are indeed prepared to crush the Rohirrim." said Saruman slyly as he led his assistant onto the balcony of his citadel.
Below them stood 10,000 fully equipped Uruk-Hai, ready to march to battle. Grima's jaw dropped and his eyes widened.
"Master, my apologies..." began Grima but could not finish.
The massive army began clanging their weapons against their shields, raising a deafening sound. They growled in anticipation of their chance to taste man-flesh.
Saruman summoned powers to project his booming voice over the entire area.
"MY CREATIONS, GO FORTH AND PURGE THE LAND OF THE FOOLISH MEN OF ROHAN! ISENGARD WILL PREVAIL AND THE END OF MANKIND WILL SOON COME! GO NOW!"
With no moment's delay, the Uruks began marching towards Helm's Deep, the last line of defense for the Rohirrim.
Err...I thought we were going to begin with the siege of Helm's Deep.
SouthKelmdorp
23-11-2004, 04:32
Well, when i said the battle for the deep, i thought that we could do the events leading up to it as well. i probably should have cleared that up. My apologies.

Barely one hour out of Edoras, Eomer came across a small party of riders. Their armour was torn, and their swords chipped and bent. "My lord Eomer, we must return to edoras, theodred has fallen." Eomer rode closer, and saw that one horse bore a rider and a body. "Fall back to edoras, and pray the king has been healed." "RIDE!"
Eomer ran up the steps, to find Theoden standing with tears in his face. "My son...Gandalf had told me of this...grima has been lying to me... even now i regret that saurman had posioned my mind..and now 10,000 orcs are in my lands!" We cannot hold here..Rally the people to helms deep! With Edoras's men and theodreds surivoirs we sould have at least 1,000. We shall endure this!" Hama, the kings trusted gaurd said aloud "By order of the king, we make for Helms Deep! Take what you need, do not burden yourself with tresures, take food and water only."
The long march to Helm would be filled with peril. But Theoden had full confidence is his desicion. "300 men, with almost double women and children...we may not live to see tomorrow" mumbled eomer as they rode forth.

OOC: I'll try hard not to go inactive during the Thanksgiving week, but no promises. It won't matter too much though. Dol Amroth won't be overly active until the Gondorian Campaign.
IC: Imrahil stood atop the parapet of Dol Amroth. Above him, the blue and silver Swan Banner fluttered in the evening breeze. He gazed out onto the Bay of Belfalas. Fishing ships were coming in from a days work. Lanterns were being hung on the ships that were to patrol the harbor for the night. The setting sun turned the water to flame. The peace of the scene belied the truth.
"My Prince." came a voice from behind. Imrahil turned to see a young squire kneeling.
"Rise, Talagand. What is it?" he said, his grey eys laughing at the boys nervousness. Well, give him time, he's only been here three weeks.
"A message, m'lord, from Gondor. It says that Rohan is on the brink of war with Saruman."
"Very well, Talagand, you may go. See that the messenger is taken to good quarters."
So Rohan has gone to war. Soon Gondor will be in it. Soon the Haradrim will move.
"So be it." he whispered.

I would have liked to be Gondor, but as it looks like theyr already taken, ill just take the Easterlings.
Btw. it seems that no one is controlling the dwarves or Dale?
Also the Elves should be separated into at least 2 major countries?
The "Shadow Elves" = Lorien and Thranduil's folk.
The High Elves= Rivendell and Lindon
But as Rivendell and Lindon are going to be bit far from the action? We could just make the naton's Lorien elves and Mirkwood elves.

OOC: Ill get my ball rolling, not that I could ever do JRR justice.
Deep in the forests of Lorien the lady Galadriel sat on a pedestal next to her shimmering mirror. Behind her sat her husband, his white robes shining in the sunlight that pierced through the layers of trees above them. Before them were assembled the Captains of Lorien, not in their battle dress but in the light dress of the wood elves with their bows at ease on tables next to them.
The lady stood and the fair elven chatter faded out.
“War is brewing in the South. We have foreseen it.”
The Captains looked at each other. Barely two days had passed since a large group of orcs had been slaughtered near the Eastern borders of the forest and this council of war was a direct response to that.
“Haldir, you will take your company to Rohan and aid them. March to Helm’s Deep where Theoden and his people flee. You must not fail, for if you do Middle Earth will be a very different place. You must depart with haste, you will not have long for your journey.”
The Elf at the front bowed and left, taking his finely crafted bow in his left hand and his scabbard containing two finely crafted elven blades in his right attaching it to his belt as he left.
That evening the horns of Lothlorien sounded as the company, nearly 700 strong left the wood, heading SouthWest towards the great fortress of Helm’s Deep.
As they left the other companies set guard on the entrances to the woods whilst the lady talked with Elrond in Rivendell.

For weeks, the shadowy depths of Mirkwood had been shrouded in a sinister, ethereal mist, which lapped around the twisted bones of the dead trees, accompanied by an otherworldly whispering that insidiously worked its way into the minds of the simple huntsmen and animals of the forests, breaking their sanity and driving them into terrible self-destructive rage and madness. Tales spread through the lands of Rhovanion of a simple peasants’ village on the eastern borders of the cursed wood that was found empty, a ghost town, every one of two hundred men, women and children vanished into the menacing shadows. Whole patrols of Elven rangers from the Halls of Thranduil had been lost, no trace of them ever to be seen again. Men whispered in the night, telling of the cursed Hill of the Necromancer, deep within the tainted Mirkwood, where the spirits of the dead did not sleep, where ancient evils brooded and where the Great Enemy plotted their doom.
Their nightmares were made real on one frigid night. In the shadows of the twisted boughs, crude war horns sounded, and were joined by the wails and insane whisperings of those long-dead, which rose into an unearthly cacophony that filled the air for miles around, sending men and animals scurrying in fear. From the dark bowels of Dol Guldur, the bleak Hill of Sorcery, a great host of misshapen Orcs spilled forth, some 20,000-strong, blazing torches and banners bearing the red Eye of Sauron held high in the bitter midnight wind. Deformed shamans marched amongst the horde, chanting blasphemous incantations to Sauron and calling upon His dark power to carry his armies to victory and strike down those who would dare to oppose Him. Mighty Trolls, hauling forth a score or more of heavy, wheeled catapults, bellowed under the strain, while others, crudely armoured, bore heavy maces and wicked greatswords, ready to strike down their Master’s foes. With them, the unearthly mist flowed, shrouding dread wraiths and shadow-vassals of Sauron, driven by restless hatred and spite of the living, and regiments of the insubstantial forms of mortal men and elves, long tainted and driven to insanity by the evil of the Dark Lord. At the head of the vast column, a hideous Fell Beast soared on its great, leathery wings, bearing the sinister form of Khamul the Easterling, second of the Nazgûl and Lord of Dol Guldur, leading his great host onwards, towards the hallowed forest-kingdom of Lorien.

Lord Amjad, suzerain of Harad, stroked his long, thin moustache, peering through lidded eyes in the direction of his advisor, Fatim the Vizier.
"So, our informants tell us of movements in the north. It is as we anticipated. Are we in readiness? Have we settled the border disputes with Umbar; will they carry our troops in their ships?"
With a curt nod of the head, the barest acknowledgment, Fatim replied "Yes of course, we have been ready for months. All will go well, fear not."
Amjad scowled. "I never fear anything, least of all the insinuations of ambitious underlings." He let the statement sink in, and his advisor cast his gaze upon the pavement at his feet, unable to meet the look. "I have been attempting to follow a prudent policy, defending as we attack, as anyone who plays games of strategy should appreciate. We should keep a respectable force on our southern and eastern borders, I say. The hordes from the wild waste will overrun our towns in that area if we do not. Yet you counsel against this, saying we need every last man cast as dice in this venture. Why?"
Fatim raised his eyes. "The intent is to win all in one stroke. The wilderlings will be swept away as chaff when we return in triumph, with rich reward." He hesitated. "There is also the, ah, 'feelings' of our powerful ally Mordor to consider, exalted one. This is their plan, and their emissary has been insistent that we follow it to the letter." He glanced over his shoulder at a cloaked dark figure in the corner, one which never left the throne room, one which often listened but seldom spoke. "We do not want to offend our ally; it is poor diplomacy."
The Southron ruler hissed. "I take your meaning, little though I may like it. Very well. But heed me, Fatim. I know your heart. Trust not to such friends as come from the dark land. You think to use them for your own ends? You will find such a weapong to be a two-edged sword."
The two men locked eyes, but again it was the vizieer who dropped his gaze first.
Amjad clapped his hands twice, and young maidens brought in platters of fruits, sugared nuts, and iced drinks. The audience was at an end. Bowing, Fatim backed his way out of the throne room, never turning, always facing his ruler with eyes downcast.
The cloaked figure remained where it stood, as always.

The host of Rohan made their way to helms deep. As the great line of people and kinghts rode towards the Deep, the horn of Helmhammer hand sounded, greeting them. The army of theodred had reached helms deep a meer 3 hours before Theoden and had already made defenses to the deeping wall. "Halt, who makes way to the Deep?" cried a sentry to Gamling, "Theoden king, and the people of edoras! Make way for the king of Rohan!" The gate was pulled back and Theoden made his way in. "Grimbold, how many men have you brought?" "i bring five hundred men from Theodreds army and the people of local towns my lord." And now for IC and sorry as my rp sucks and im in hurry:
The Prince of Rhun surrounded by his advisors and generals stood fast over the gate of Rhunion, his capital. He could fell the wind's of history blowing around him for thios indeed was something unique. For countless years's had the area's south and east of Sea of Rhun been a separate area with tribes and kingdoms fighting each other. But not anymore.
No. He, the Royal Prince of Rhun had managed to unify the whole area, and now he could see the fruit's of his work beneath him. For the largest army Rhun had seen in time was marching out of the gate's. He had been able to muster a total number of 25,000 men. Still, all this had happened with help from a dangerous ally. Sauron. And in return he had promised to fight Sauron's war with his army. Of course he too felt great anger toward's the people's near the Great Water, and had long wanted to destroy them.
But still. He felt a bit unsure of this war. Why? Why did Sauron want to start this war this early? With the elves and dunedain fading back, and Sauron's allies getting stronger by every passing day! Shouldn't they have waited for 20 year's, and Rhun could have been able to field an army twice this size!
But no.. Sauron's order's had arrived and war there shall be. Rhun shall march to fight Sauron's war.

IC The Witch King sat in his study, brooding. The hobbits had Escaped! He was so close, and that damn Elf had cought him offguard. He had been so focused on the halfling, who was crossing to join him and his kinred, when the elves had done their damn magic.
He stoof, and walked to his armoury. Orks scuttled out of his way, feeling prime fear from a creature of such power. He clicked his fingers when he reached the room, and held his arms out. The Largest of Orks came forwards and placed his weapons apon him giving him the helmate to place himself. He did, slowly, allowing the orks to see everything. When he had placed it, he moved swiftly to one of the other rooms. He could looked apon his brothers, who's spirits where in the last stages of creating their new bodies. In the next three hours, they where done, and each one took up the sword. They moved out, each one mounting apon their Orkish Dragons ((Find name later)) with one thing in mind, find the one ring. The Witch King stood and watched, then mounted his own to fly to the south, to make sure of the Loyalty of the Harrid.

Three Of the Nazgul flew towards Helms Deep, having recived word of the Force Surruman had mustered. Their Fell Beasts flaped great wings, their large bodies flying towards the force. THey managed the long trip in a few hours, and they flew towards the Tower of Isengard. They landed on the ground, and dimounted, the surrounding Orks, and Urk-Hi fell back in a sign of silent fear. They moved to the base of the Tower, and the front of them spoke in their screaching voice.
"Be careful Surruman, your power may be large in the realm of men, but when should you choose the powers of Mordor, make sure you have a REAL army." With that, they turned and went to help the Isengard army.

The Elves of Lothlorien prepared for the onslaught that Galadriel had seen coming.
Everywhere Elves were fashioning arrows and placing them in their tree-top [insert correct term when i get home and read the book again].
A small party of Elves had set out to the West of the forest to guide in the High Elves when they arrived as the Lady had forseen.
On the march to Helms Deep Haldir's company continued. They could now see the towering fortress against the rocks, within the day they would be there to aid the men. Standards fluttered in the breeze as they approached Helms Dike and the first line of Rohan defences.

Theoden stood upon the deeping wall, thinking of what he could do to stall the enemy army for just a few hours. "My lord, what of erkenband? His forces could easliy aid us in the coming fight." Theoden turned to see Eomer and he was allready in mail and plate. "Yes..Yes. Send a rider for erkenband, by Eorls grace we live out the night." "Yes sire."
The fortress of Rohan had never fallen in battle, nor had the hornburg ever been breached. The king thought to himself: "This small force of rohan, held up in a corner. Nay, this is not how i would like to fight. What i would do to ride forth in front of my men, spear in place on the open field. This is no fate, fit for rohan"
The ripping blast of horn sounded, scouts reported that the orcs had some large dragon type animal, a Fell beast of legend. "This cannot be, Mordor? Here? This is a mistake isnt it?" cried a young lad. Hama said to the boy "Hush, we will hold and we will fight with the might and fury of the Eorlingas!" Theoden stood taller then spoke "Yes, yes! The Horn of Helmhammer hand, shall sound in the deep one last time. We shall ride forth and meet this host of Orcs and their beasts! The Eorlingas shall not be trapped in this fort, we ride forth to our glory and most likely our doom!"
The Rohirrim mouted their great war horses and made their way out of the deep. Following the scouts to the Orc host.

The great Fell Beast swooped down onto the banks of the Anduin on its huge, leathery wings, its black claws sinking into the soft mud. Khamul breathed in deeply with a hideous noise. His great horde was assembled on the bank around him, and sappers had already begun to construct the crude landing barges with the materials they had dragged after them that would carry his army across the Great River.
His Master’s spies had discovered an army of the accursed Eldar gathering on the other side of the Misty Mountains, but it would be at least a tenday before they could fully assemble and make the long and arduous trek around, or if this Elrond was so brave, or foolish, through the Misty Mountains. Then there were just the inhabitants of the ‘Golden Wood’, but, this time, the Dark Lord was prepared.
Within hours, the fleet was ready, and the 20,000 Orcs and Trolls clambered in turn aboard and rowed, steadily, across the mighty Anduin river, cloaked in the ethereal mist of their haunted fortress, followed by half-seen spectres, shadow-spirits and wraiths. The Fell Beast rose, flapped its great wings twice and soared into the air, swooping down over the progressively advancing host, its rider gazing westwards, towards its goal.

The army had marched through the mountain pass. It was as predicted. They had been harried by goblin patrols sent from Mount Gunabad and it's fiefdom's, but the martial prowess of the elves had sent the goblin filth scurrying back to their underground caverns. Elrond sensed something. Glorfindel did too. Elrond looked around. His column had marched ahead of the main force. A flock of birds fluttered, disturbed by someone or something. A Captain behind him approached him. He motioned to him to speak, but then Elrond saw it...
A thick black tipped arrow was imbedded in the captain's throat. He gargled, clutching at the arrow, blood gushing from his throat. The captain then fell to the floor, still clutching at the arrow in his throat.
"Ambush!" Elrond screamed.
A detail of Goblins attacked from behind. They caught a few unawares, slitting their throats with their fine, sharp daggers. The attack was slowed down after a dozen Elves had been killed. It looked bad for Elrond, but suddenly a flight of high-aimed Elven arrows shot up into the air, goblins writhing on the ground in pain; the arrows had penetrated their crude armour. The rest of the column had reached them!
Elrond grabbed one of the surviving goblins, holding his Elven blade to it's throat.
"Who do you work for!? Speak, or I shall cut your throat!" Elrond said, seeing the look of anxiety in the goblins eyes. It closed it's eyes, then spoke
"I -I -I -I wor- kk for Kham-ul of the ni-nine." It hesitated, but a glance from Elrond silenced it. "We we-er track-kking you on or-der-ss from h-i-mmm." It hesitated again, but this time, Elrond simply cut it's throat, the black blood staining his sword.
Elrond released the goblin, walking to a very worried Glorfindel.
"The assualt must be happening quicker than we thought!" Glorfindel said, with a look of desperation on his face.
"Then we march, with haste!" Elrond said, marching off......

The Witch Kings Fell Beast flew high over the city of the Hadrum. When he was convinced all was in order, he flew back north, to the city of Ogslith ((SP?)) When he reached it he saw what he wanted, the forces of Khamul had begun their decent on the last forces of men in the once proud city. He flew down his Fell beast's wings going silent, and went towards Khamul.
"Thous have done well," Came the deep chilled voice. "However, once the city is taken, you are to wait. I will bring up the armies of Minas Morgul, a host 200,000 strong, then we will fall apon the city of Minas Tirith with ease." OOC:Erm, I'm further north, crossing the river a bit downstream of Lothlorien (is it called the Anduin that far up?), and it's quite a march to get down to Gondor.
On another note, I find this map useful; you can zoom right in: http://www.informatik.uni-bremen.de/~cbernd/pdf/middleEarth03_36in.pdf
Now, with the host arranged on the plain leading slightly downhill to the forest of Lothlorien, the Great River guarding one flank, the Orcish shamans and sorcerers gathered. Ritual circles and runes were drawn in blood, black candles lit and positioned and skulls and bones arranged in arcane forms. The mist flowed around them, attracted to the strong magicks gathering around the shamans and their rites. Daggers were drawn across their palms, allowing a few drips of blood to fall into the large ritual fire that had been constructed, and Orcs and captured Men were sacrificed, their hearts torn from their chests and proffered to the Dark Lord. A droning, repetitive chant rose, accompanied by the wailing and whispering of the wraiths, that of two or more score of dread sorcerers raising prayers and incantations to Sauron and the dark forces, making arcane signs in the air with their gnarled hands. Khamul descended from his Fell Beast with barely a sound and marched through the camp, the mist shrouding him as though attracted to his power. He reached the great bonfire at the centre of the shamans’ rituals, and thrust a gauntleted fist, bearing his dark Ring of Power, in the roaring flames. At once, the chant rose to a new, frenzied ferocity, the sorcerers gesturing frantically, trying to channel the arcane power flowing through them. Dark, brooding thunderclouds gathered above swiftly, casting a great shadow across the lands of the Anduin. Thunder sparked and lashed at the forest, but was met by some unseen force and not a bough was scorched. Then, the mist rose, the ethereal forms of the shadow spirits and those long dead now visible to all, screeching and clawing in the direction of Lorien, at the symbol of the free and living, whom they envied so. Then, it swooped, like a dark tide, across the grassy plain, at first turned aside by some magic at the borders of the wood, but, gathering like a great wave, they finally swept into the hallowed forest, darting between the tall trees.
Khamul withdrew his hand from the flame, completely unscathed, and gazed at the forest. These mere shadows could do no harm to the inhabitants of the Golden Wood, but its great magical protections had been cast aside, at least temporarily, by the power of the Dark Lord.
Khamul turned to his Uruk-Hai lieutenant, Gurbarg, who understood and gestured to an Orc runner, as the Nazgûl swept back through the encampment, stepping over the withered corpse of a sorcerer, consumed by the power he had wielded, Orcs scuttling away from his fearsome presence.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dragthak looked out across the darkened grass plain to the lush expanse of forest nestled at the feet of the majestic Misty Mountains, shrouded in the dense thunderclouds of this unnatural day. He snarled at the sight of it and spat a thick gobbet of saliva onto the ground before him. Thousands upon thousands of crazed, bloodthirsty Orc warriors stood ready about him. They had learned much in their wars with the cursed pointy-ears, and they would not make the same mistake this time. Under the strict guidance and whips of their Chieftains and the Nazgûl, the horde had assembled along a ridge in the terrain overlooking Lorien. Ordered ranks (or as close as Orcs could manage) of Orcish archers with their heavy shortbows and crude black-fletched arrows stood ready beside others with long, barbed pikes and spears, and all manner of rough weapons. Accompanying them still was the unearthly mist, cloaking and swirling around them, hiding other horrors that whispered and beckoned in the night. But his companions were insane and zealous, and this bothered them little in their battle-lust. Dragthak would like to see those damned Elves jumping them this time, in the wide open against such overwhelming odds.
A great, lumbering Troll to Dragthak’s right now hauled a heavy boulder onto the catapult, and Holg and Thekk scuttled forwards and doused the rock in pitch. Dragthak breathed in heavily through his hairy nostrils, savouring the foully sweet air and gestured to Thekk, who took up a blazing torch and set it to the boulder, which sprang into acrid flame. Dragthak gazed around briefly, catching sight of the two dozen other such engines, likewise prepared, ranged across the ridge, surrounded by the great host of Orcs.
“Let’s show these pointy-eared cowards what Orcs are made of!” he shouted coarsely, raising a cheer from the nearby warriors. He raised his twisted, iron longsword, grinned and brought it down sharply.
“Fire!”
Several of the two dozen shots fell early, smashing into the soft earth of the plain before them, and, out of the corner of his eye, Dragthak could see that at least one crew was aflame, screeching as the fire scorched their flesh, and that another had misfired, its projectile crashing into the ranks of Orcs below and crushing dozens beneath its bulk. However, as he watched, his own crew’s missile soared overhead, trailing smoke and flame, and smashed into the outlying trees of the ancient wood. Now, fire sparked among the dry foliage, and, he could see now, flame rose and licked the tall, noble boughs of the forest.
A grin formed on Dragthak’s lips, bearing his yellowed fangs.
“Reload!”

Just inside the forest, behind the trees that were now burning a thin line of armoured Wood Elves assembled. Two Elves deep they fitted arrows into their finely crafted bows and took aim at the front rank of orcs that were just within their range.
Several keener eyed Elven Rangers had moved further forward in an attempt to strike at those siege machine crews that were doing so much damage to the sacred wood.
As one they raised their bows and took aim, releasing a hail of arrows towards the army assembling beyond the borders. The sky turned dark with arrows as the first Elven strokes of the war began.

Dragthak cursed roughly and snarled at the sight around him. Long, finely-crafted Elven arrows stuck, still quivering, in the wood of his catapult. Dozens of his fellow Orcs staggered to the ground, blood gurgling from their ruined necks and chests; some 500 or more were dead or dying in the first minutes of this surprise attack. Thekk lay dead to Dragthak’s left, thick, black blood leaking from the wound in his head. Dragthak raised his crude sword and gestured to the Troll, already with two arrows in its shoulder, but apparently none the worse. It turned and heaved a great, heavy, clay pot, sealed with wax, carefully out of the ramshackle cart. Dragthak looked about him and saw his comrades, armed with powerful short-bows, firing their thick, black-fletched arrows in almost synchronization down towards the forest, but their fire would achieve little. Huge, powerful, heavily armoured Trolls barged their way to the front of the horde, and Orc warriors took up their wicked curved and barbed weapons. His catapult had been winched back into position, and now the Troll heaved the heavy pot onto it. Fierce growls stirred behind Dragthak, and he turned to see several hundred Warg-riders riding through the encampment towards the cursed forest. As the horde surged down the hillside, with the heavy covering fire of their fellow warriors’ crude bows above them, accompanied by the incorporeal forms of spirits long passed-away, their swords long blunt and rusted, and the giant roaring armoured Trolls, following the vanguard of the galloping Wargs, Dragthak placed a torch to the short length of coarse rope on the pot’s top, stepped away and gestured firmly. The mechanism was released, and the projectile soared above, joining numerous others fired by Dragthak’s comrades, and overtook the racing host and smashed into the already smouldering woodland, hitting a tree and exploding in a shower of a terrible, viscous, flaming alchemical substance. Dragthak grinned, again baring his yellowed, pitted teeth, and slumped to the ground, the smirk frozen upon his face, as an elegant Elven arrow thudded into his chest, still trembling.

As the Elves saw the Wargs come bursting through the battle lines they redirected their fire onto the approaching threat.
With one command they lowered their bows, and each tracked a target, releasing another volley of arrows upon the command.
Several Elves had been killed by the sheer volume of bowfire, and more still by the crude orcish shells.
However the line was holding firm as more Elven watchers arrived from other parts of the forest, including sentinals that had originally come from Mirkwood. They added their bowfire to their Wood Elf cousins at the approaching Wargs and Trolls.

The Host of Elves and men rushed back to the deep. "Hope, has returned to Rohan" gamling softly said to himself "Hope"
Miles away, in the westfold of Rohan, Erkenband was met by a messenger, and told to hasten to the Deep. Horns sounded, and the sound of a thousand hoof beats was heard for miles round. Erkenband made for the deep at great speed upon his horse as the whole of his house followed him. Even if he came late, he would have his share of battle with the orc horde.

For the Beasts whined and roared in pain. "Fight! Stand firm and do not give into fear! If we kill the beasts the slaves of Sauron shall flee! Fight!"
Standing inside the main hall, Theoden watched the battle via a window.
"So it begins"
Rargik saw the Nazgul fly to the stronghold of the men. You can never fully trust the agents of Sauron, he thought, They have started the battle earlier than planned, I suppose we must go now.
He growled into the night, clanging his sword against his shield. More Uruks stood up, copying him, waking up the rest of the army. The Berserkers had not slept at all, they were always restless waiting for battle.

The great horde finally smashed into the Elven lines inside the hallowed forest of Lorien. Over 2,000 had been slain by the clinically accurate Elven bow fire, but still they charged. Blackened trees crumpled and collapsed, crushing Orc and Elf indiscriminately under their flaming boughs as the inferno spread. Great Trolls slammed into the enemy battle line, swinging their crude hammers and greatswords, tossing Elves into the air with their mighty strength. Orcs were felled in their dozens by the hail of deadly arrows, but, in turn, as they reached the forest, they struck out with their cruel, barbed weapons, hacking into the Elves’ flesh, only effective against the fine, curved Elvish longswords through sheer weight of numbers. Wargs darted between the trees and leapt over the many corpses of their fellows, pouncing upon the Elven wardens, tearing at them with their foul teeth as their riders slashed about them with their crude shortswords. Still the catapults fired, reduced in number and weary, sending their blazing projectiles crashing into the forest, incinerating the enemy and their own warriors without prejudice. At Helms Deep, Haldir had assembeld two dozen Elves and was now approaching the nearest of the Nazgul that had landed. Strewn around the towering black figure where countless bodies of men, elves and uruks laying where they had fallen as the black figure cast them aside.
The Elves gathered themselves and fired a host of arrows into the figure before charging, lead by Haldir, towards the ghostly form and several uruks that were with him.

In his tent, Prince Taras of Rhun watched his messenger beeing carried away with sauron's eye carved in his chest. This sight made him feel great anger. Thus he shouted out to his general's and advisors:
"What! Do the Nazgul think they can just boss around us becouse we are theyre allies! I will not tolerate this kind of treatment to my messengers. I will show for them Nazgul that im not scared of them! We shall march to Rohan!"
Operation Officer Dahas replied: "Aye your highness. That does dound like the best option. If we crush rohan, gondor can be attacked from 3 sides. And there's no use in getting our troops slaughtered in some Elven woods. Those elves are so weak they won't get out of theyr woods anyways, but rohan is a real danger."
Command officer Mausir continued: "I have already prepared the plans. We will march with haste to Edoras, and after conquering it lay siege to Dunharg if there are any enemy troop's, and march to help Saruman's attacking force at Helms Deep. We have heard that Rohan's main force is trapped inside Helms Deep."
Dahas stated one more thing: "We will march under cavalry screen by the 1st and 2nd Variag cavalries. That should help us notice if any enemy force is heading towards us.Our main cavalry force we shall keep behind our infantry, and our infantry shall march in order 1st, 2nd, 3rd and Variag Division."

"My lord, my scouts have reported fighting between orks and elves near that haunted place of Lorien."
"Rohan is under attack from Nazgul and a stange new ork from Saruman."
"What should we do, my lord?"
Denethor was worried by their reports. "What can we do. Nothing except try to hold our city. That is all. Now leave."

"CRRRRAACK" Theoden and his gaurd looked at the roof of the hall, somthing big hit the roof or tower. "My lord, somthing is in the hornburg. It may be a nazgul.." "WHAT??! blast, Grimbold,Hama, draw your swords and follow me the hornburg." "This is our hour! Now is our time! Gamling, tell the archers of the keep to fire volleys upon the orcs and the beasts of sauron!" Gamling ran out to command point and shouted "Volley!"
300 bowmen fired arrows and threw javelins at the orcs. The javelins would have little effect, but these men would fight by anymeans nesscary.
Eomer fought the orcs upon the Wall will a untamed fury, for he had lost many good firends and family to these beasts. Eomer took on one of the larger and very well armoured orcs who had killed at least a dozen rohirrim by itself. Eomer brought his balde down onto the orcs head, cleaving it into two red chunks. After which two orcs charged him, Eomer picked up a elven long sword and threw it into one of their chests. They other was filled with arrows from the keep. Eomer continued to rally men and elves around him, when a terrible srceam came from behind. he wheeled round to see a Nazgul being circled by at least a two dozen elves. Calling men to him, he charged down the deeping wall towards the Slave of sauron yelling "Guthwine! Guthwine for the mark!"

Making great haste with his 1,000 mouted men, erkenband rode towards the deep. The battle was now visble: he could see the great orc ladders and a huge host of the orcs. He bode his men on, shouting "To the king riders of erkenband!" Dawn would come soon and erkenband would ride.
One of the berserkers lept onto the wall and began massacring Rohirrim and Elves alike. The smell of blood drove him crazy as he swung his sword into the midsection of an elf. He did not feel it when a sword plunged into his leg, he continued fighting. Finally he was brought down with an Elven arrow to the face.
Rargik stood in the middle of the army, watching the progress of his soldiers. A lightly equipped Uruk ran up to him.
"Chief, horsemen, coming from the north. They will fight us here. We have to fight back!" the Uruk exclaimed.
Rargik spat on the ground. Now they would have to fight on two sides, this was not good. He turned from the wall and faced the direction where Erkenbad's reinforcements were coming.
"Half of us will fight each side. Do it quickly or we will be destroyed."
The Uruk captain wielded his mighty sword and began to move to the north, where he would engage the Rohirrim.

Khamul gazed upon the events enfolding below him with mild interest. A lethal hail or arrows slashed down through the air, slicing into the ranks of Orcs, cutting them down where they stood. The arrival of the army of Rivendell was unexpected, and the failure of reinforcements from Rhûn and Moria to arrive was unfortunate. He would enjoy watching the rulers of Rhûn slowly tortured to death once his Master had emerged as the victor in this war. Nonetheless, he would shatter the power of the Elves here, even if his army was slaughtered to an Orc, and they would be of no help to the besieged kingdoms of Men. He had no fear: no blade or arrow could slay him, one of the immortal Nine.
Khamul turned to his tall, Uruk lieutenant, Gurbarg, who immediately began to shout coarse orders to the other Captains. The army reserves, a full half of the horde, writhed into position, then surged down the hillside towards the new threat, vulgar warcries lifted to the skies and crude weapons held ready. Ranks of Orcish shortbowmen turned, drew back the thick strings and let loose a volley of heavy, black-fletched arrows.
Khamul’s Fell Beast flapped its great, leathery wings and rose into the air, soaring above the battlefield and swooping down upon the Elves, snatching clawfuls of the disciplined soldiers from the ground and tossing them into the air, to certain death, its vile fangs snapping at the courageous warriors, ripping into their delicate flesh.

The Fell Beast rose once more, tossing aside the ruined form of an Elven warrior from its wicked jaws and soaring over the battle below. Night had enveloped the blood-stained battlefield around Lothlorien, and the forest blazed in the darkness. The scream of steel on steel issued from below, as the huge tide of Orcs and dark warriors surged against the ordered lines of the Eldar. However, Dol Guldur’s numbers were thinning as the Elves’ discipline and skill began to have a noticeable effect. Khamul spurred his Fell Beast, and it fell into a dive again, swooping down upon the Elven ranks. Suddenly, it screeched and twisted in the air, a finely-crafted arrow piercing its skull, and it tumbled to the earth below. Khamul rose from the dust, in the centre of the Elven army, breathing in heavily with a hideous noise, tasting the air, his ancient, wicked longsword already drawn and ready. There, blazing like a great beacon in the Nazgûl’s twilight world, stood the mighty Elven hero, Elrond, ancient enemy of the Dark Lord, bearing a curved, elegant greatsword. Khamul looked around at the circle of elite Elven warriors surrounding him and turned back to Elrond. He emitted a piercing shriek, raised a gauntleted hand and lashed out with a blast of dark power at the Elven lord, before raising his cold, steel sword and advancing.

The Elven host in the forest had thinned considerably.
With Celebrons charge the orcs had been driven back, and the wounded had been brought clear and taken further into the forest for treatment from the female Elves. (?????) However now the Elven Lord was expertly cutting his way through ranks of orcs with his bodyguards in defence of his woodland home.
Meanwhile the fight continued, the orcs pushing the Elves back towards where the battle had started in the outskirts of the forest, as thin rain fell, quelling the fires as the night wore on.

As Haldirs wariors, along with some of the rohirrum attacked the uruks around the Nazguul, Haldir and Eomer looked at each other, deciding wether to charge or fall back.
At the gate to the Hornburg, a steady stream of the wounded Elves and men were coming up the narrow path, followed by their fully able comrades. The window of escape for Haldir and Eomer was short.
As the wounded Elves got into the Hornburg those less seriously injured lined the sides of the walls using their bows with deadly precision into the horde below.

Imrahil nodded. Helm’s Deep was nothing he had not expected. “Any word on the Elves of Mirkwood? Have the gone to Lorien’s aid?”
“No word, my Prince. I only got a vague report while I was in Minas Tirith.” said the rider.
“Very well. Had my brother-in-law done anything to aid Rohan?”
“No, my Prince. He has chosen to look to his own walls.”

Imrahil studied a map of the world. Denethor sometimes forgot that Middle Earth was wider that Gondor’s borders. Of course, the steward would expect him to strip his borders to aid Minas Tirith. And he would do it, but how many could he send?
Two thousand knights were mustered. How many could he send and still defend the Southern Fiefdoms? He studied the map. Dol Amorth, Linhir, and Pelargir would have to be held. He had around eleven thousand men from the Fiefdoms all told. If he left five thousand, would it be enough? He could not take less than five thousand to war with him. If he left six thousand here, he could garrison each city with two thousand. And with the navy still at full strength, they could hold. Perhaps...
But how many would Harad send? How many of them would march on the White City? He needed to know. He scouts could find nothing except that they were in league with the Corsairs. Fine. He had blockaded the Anduin Delta at Tol Falas. His navy could at least make them pay heavily for the passage and maybe weaken the force of Mordor.

------------Rohan, Outside Helm's Deep------------------------
Saruman's army outside Helms deep seemed to be going to disorder as they were attacked from both sides. From north they were attacked by Erkenbrand's 1000 brave cavalrymen, and from Hornburg were charging out another 1000 cavalry with their King Theoden leading them by himself. Suddenly at the same time the Nazgul who had been helping Saruman's army mounted theyr fell beasts and flew away. Everywhere the Rohirrim got new hope and started to push the Uruks back. For a moment it really seemed like the sun would shine again for Rohan.
But no. Rohans tale was finally over. Suddenly everyone on the battlefield heard a strong voice of horns. Wondering what could thios be everyone moved theyre eyes to north. And yes. There they could see almost 10 000 cavalrymen advancing towards the fighting armies. Rhun's Cavalry had arrived. Rest of the army stopped some 1km from the battlefield, but 2 400 cavalrymen , the 1st and 2nd Light Cavalries, departed from the main force, and galloped to attack Erkenbrands cavalry from the behind. Thus they raised theyr swords, let out a huge shout and charged at Rohans cavalrymen.
--------------- Rohan Near Edoras ---------------------------
The rest of the Rhun's army had laid siege to Edoras though its walls were wooden and low. Thus after the siege was complete, marched forth the 5400 heavy infantrymen of 1st Division. After spreading over the city, they charged forwards it's walls and let out a huge battle shout. Soon they had reached the walls of the city, only with minor casualties from the few Rohan's archers there, and were rising theyr siege ladders against the walls and swarming up them. Rhun's victory for this day seemed complete.

The Orcish horde had now spent almost half of its number, but still more poured against the lines of elite Elven warriors, falling in their droves to the Elves’ curved, silvered longswords and swift arrows. Lumbering, heavily-armoured Trolls smashed into their ranks, crushing the enemy underfoot and beneath their great clubs and wicked flails and Orcs hacked and lashed at the tall, elegantly armoured Elves with their crude weapons and fired again and again with their heavy shortbows, their bowfire only effective through sheer volume. These Orcs had seen terrors worse than any Elf in the the dark belly of Dol Guldur, where the dead walk still and whisper maddeningly to the living, and feared their masters more than any pointy-eared bowman.

The passed the Druidain forest, passing Amon Din and several other becons. On the second day they reached the Frielan forest, only a few miles from the borders of Rohan. There they made camp and crossed into Rohan the next day. The continued west, following the mountains and hoping to find a settlement.

OOC: Would recommend you to change your rally point since im sieging Dunharrow.(Its very close to Edoras, the distance is uner 10 miles.)
---------Rohan outside Helm's Deep---------------
The commander of 1st Light brigade saw Erkenbrands cavalry charge towards them, and organized his own troops to counter Erkenbrands charge. With a great rush the two large cavalry forces collided against each other, with the first lines of men and horses getting basically crushed by the ranks pushing forwards behind them. Even tough the Rhun cavalrymen more than doupled in numbers to the Rohirrim, the larger warhorses and heavily armoured cavalrymen of Rohan were driving the two light cavalrybrigades of Rhun to great troubles. It seemed like the more inexperienced 2nd brigade would soon be routed by the grim rohirrim.
General Sharik, the commander of Cavalry Division noticed this. For half a minute he stood silent watching the onslaught of Rhun's troops, but then he suddenly shouted out a series of commands:
"1st and 2nd Light brigade pull off from battle, by retreating towards northeast and northwest! 1st and 2nd Cavalrybrigade charge right at enemy cavalry! 1st Variag Cavalry flank the enemy from west and attack them, 2nd Variag cavalry do the same from east!"
So as soon as messenger's got to the unit's commander's , the heavy cavalrybrigades formed a line and galloped toward's the fighting forces. Atr the same time the light cavalry's of Khand started moving fast to Erkenbrand's cavalry's flank. When these forces had moved to right places,
the badly suffered 1st and 2nd light cavalry suddenly routed, fleeing toward's north. At the same time, the heavy cavalry charged right at the front of Erkenbrand's cavalry, and the Variag's cavalry attacked Erkenbrand from both sides.
-------------Rohan near Edoras--------------------------
After overrunning the few defender's of Edoras and securing the city, the forces of Rhun quickly started what soldier's usually do when they get to a enemy city. You know the usual rape & rob & kill & burn stuff. However some of the men were forced to stay out of the fun and man the city's walls.
At the same time commander Prince Taras of Rhun felt good, for the assault had succeeded. Rohan's capital was in his hand's.
"Do we know how many enemy forces are in Dunharrow?" He asked his advisor's.
"No sir, we do not know." He was replied by Operation Officer Dahas.
"Ok, well send 1st Division of Variag's and 2nd Division of Rhun to lay siege on the fortress. Oh and tell King Wadaran(commander of 1st Variag's) to try a small scale assault on the fort to find out how strongly it is defended." he continued.
"Yes sir. We should also move our HQ and the 3rd Division to Edoras. I will also send messengers to 1st Division to keep the city Intact as we need to garrison our men there."
And so the messenger's run out and forces started maneuvering. Soon Edoras was garrisoned with 1st and 3rd Division's of Rhun, and Dunharrow sieged by 2nd and Variag Division's. Also the preparations for an assault on Dunharrow were being made.

Thorin and his host of Dwarves now reached the Anduin and decided to follow it to whatever battlefield it would lead them. They did not march to fast and Thorin remained cautious as he received tidings of the current situation: large numbers orcs were on the move and Thorin had only 500 in his company. Of the dwarves it was best to choose their targets carefully.
---
In the lonely mountain, many Dwarves had now gathered, their numbers grew every minute. There was also a smaller company of men led by King Brand of Dale, a friend of Dain Ironfoot. Together they would march to war.
Dain put on his heavy mithril armour and took his axe Barzantathul, The exceptionally well crafted and well balanced axe and armour were heirlooms of his family and would serve it once again.
Once ready he gave the order to depart, the longer they waited, the more people would die and the smaller their chance for honor and glory would be.
There was still a long road ahead of them.

The Elves remaining at Helms Deep , barely 150, now lined as much of the wall as they could. They were lending their bows to the Rohirrum now desperately fighting for their lives in the valley infront, however it was obvious that it was a losing battle.

Well acrually the distance from Edoras to Stairs of The Hold is something like 20 miles, but from Edoras to the beginning of Harrowdale (the Dale that leads to Dunharrow) is something like 0,5 miles. So by controlling Edoras you can easily block that anyone from the plains can't enter Dunharg. But, alas there are also the mountain roads that Theoden's rider's used to get from Helm's Deep to Dunharg. Oh and my troops are stationed somewhere in the Harrowdale so that they can block anyone going up or down the Stairs of The Hold.

"Those are the banners of Rhun!" Cried one of Celebran's companions as they neared Edoras. They had yet to come upon a single one of the Rohirrim.
Celebran stared for a moment, then nodded,
"Indeed, Edoras has fallen. We must be careful, but we must press on an see if any of the Rohirrim remain."
They gave Edoras a wide birth, but kept it in site, and rode West toward the Snowborn River.
OOC: Short post I know, but I have class in five minutes. As for Balrogs, I think the most mentioned at once in the Sil is eight, the bodyguard of Gothmog. So there probably weren't a lot of them even then. Rargik had been ready for the charge when the Rohirrim abruptly turned and charged towards the men of Rhun. He was enfuriated and snarled for his soldiers to chase after Erkenbad. Rargik charged towards Erkenbad, many Uruks following him. He growled and swung his sword at a horse's legs, causing the beast and its rider to fall to the ground. He plunged his blade into the man's chest and growled in pleasure at the sight of blood. His soldiers all around him joined into the fray, bringing riders to the ground and finishing them off while they were down. Rargik pulled a man off of his mount and decapitated him, his sword now drenched in blood.
The Rohirrim would certainly be destroyed while they were sandwiched in the middle of Uruk-Hai and men of Rhun.

"I saw fresh hoofprints leading away from the Dunharrow road. The horses were too large to be of Rhun. It could be a party of Riders." The Knight replied.

--------------Rohan Near Helm's Deep-------------------------
Erkenbrand's situation was getting really crappy. Now he had to turn half of his men to counter the Uruks of Saruman. Thus there was under 500 rohirrim to receive the charge of 4 brigades of Rhun. Totallin 4800 cavalrymen. This could only end in one way. After the forces collided again, fierce fighting took on for about a minute. However soon the Rohirrim were basically overrun, and theyr ranks broke. Still, most of the rohirrim alive grouped in smaller groups in order to continue fighting, but they were fastly being surrounded and slaughtered to last men. Soon 1st Cavalrybrigade's commander decided to let the other's finish this job, and commanded his over 1000 veteran Cavalrymen to charge at the back of the Rohirrim fighting against Uruks.
----------Dunharg---------------
Now as the forces had assembled and prepared theyr camp, King Wudaran of Khand commanded his forces to assault. However as he was told, the assault would be very small in size. Also he was wondering that what the hell of a fort this was. He could actually see no fort, just a very steep road going up to the cliff. However he ordered the 3rd Brigade of Khand to advance up the road.
Thus the 1200 light infantrymen marched forth and started climbing up the road .

Khamul raised his blade again to block Elrond’s lightning-quick strike, knocked it aside and lashed out with his heavy, gauntleted fist, but Elrond struck at the wraith’s wrist and fended off the blow. Elrond and the Ringwraith backed away from each other, long tears evident in the Nazgûl’s dark, ragged cloak and Elrond’s elegant robes, revealing their gleaming armour, but neither could actually best the other. The battle raged on around them, the ground littered with corpses and running with blood. However, the power of Dol Guldur was all but spent, and here and there groups of Orcs were fleeing from the battlefield, seeking the welcome darkness of the Mirkwood. The disciplined squads of Elven rangers and sentinels carved their way through the Orcish horde, slicing left and right into foul, misshapen flesh. But, Sauron’s Orc hordes were myriad and multiplied rapidly in the dark corners of Middle Earth, unlike the noble Elves, who lay dead in their thousands, their delicate and beautiful forms ruined by fire and steel. Khamul had fulfilled his purpose in this war: he had created his diversion to draw off and break the power of the Elves in the north, long concealed by the ancient forests, and the hallowed groves of Lothlorien now stood scorched and broken in spirit. As Khamul watched, a great Troll, thick, dark blood leaking from its shoulder and chest, staggered towards Elrond, swinging a huge, rusted hammer in one thick-fingered hand. It had no chance against the Elven lord, but, as the Elf swiftly dodged the clumsy blow, and a half-dozen fine arrows thudded into the Troll’s back, Khamul saw his opportunity and charged, his ancient, jagged sword slicing through the air towards Elrond’s neck, who turned suddenly, with astonishing reflexes, and slashed before him with his elegant longsword, ready to thrust his keen blade into the Ringwraith’s chest...

As orcs began to flee the field before Lothlorien the true state of the Wood Elves began to show.
In the field lay dead some 1500 Elves, fully a third of the former population. Back in the forest nearly double that number were wounded and being treated. Four Elven Captains, of twelve, were dead. A further five were wounded, one gravely.
Celebron had a wound to his left arm, however it was quickly healing due to his mystical power. Even with this wound he still charged through the small groups of orcs that remained, along with his personal guard as he fought a way towards the High Elf lines and the orcs that still remained to threaten the forest.
At Helms Deep the situation was no better. Haldirs Elves had retaken the walls, and had set about destroying the Uruk ladders using flaming arrows and all that they could.
They had been joined by a troop of Rohan foot soldiers, brave but poorly trained when compared to the masterful Elves.

-----------------Rohan Near Edoras & Dunharrow------------------
In the stairs of the hold, the 1200 strong brigade of Rhun light infantry now reached the arrowdistance from top of the stairs. Thus they raised theyr shield's and speeded up theyr march. When in distance, the 200 strong arrowmen company started firing volleys of arrow's to the top of the road.
Soon when getting closer to top of the the road the remaining 1000 men let out a warcry and charged toward's the Rohanian ranks.
Meanwhile in HQ in Edoras:
Prince Rhun of Taras was discussing with his general's while he could hear the warcry of Rhun's troops from Dunharrow.
"Ok. So we have Edoras and basically Helm's deep and Dunharrow. However there's much more power in Rohan. Where is this power?" He asked his advisors.
"We don't know sir." He was replied
"Ok, well send out scout's to all of Rohan to find out where theyr army's are gathering."
"Aye sir." And thus patrols of Rhunian light cavalry were spreaded all over Rohan.

The messenger's rush in the commander's office, where he was still discussing with his general's.
"Your Highnes! The scouts have returned.!"
"What news do they bring?" Asked Prince taras
"Your highness, there's a small party of dwarves sitting right on the field rather close to Edoras. Propably 500 strong. Alas, the rohirrim are mustering up theyr armies near Fangorn woods. Some 7000 strong our scouts counted. But that doesn't mean theres 7000, could be less or more. Also Hem's deep seem's to have gone to some kind of time vortex. Nothing's moving there, we even saw some dueling heroes just stand still with one slashing his sword and the other parrying." The scout finished.
"Hmm.. This is interesting enough. But if the Rohirrim's number's are that large, it means they've mustered up nearly all of they'r troops. And many of them are quite green to combat. But still, theyre number's are so large that we can't take them on without our cavalry, and it's stuck in that damn time vortex. So we must wait. Alas as those Dwarves pose us no threat, we should just let them be, as it could be a trap as well. Or well, send there a messenger to say that they go to hell or we kill them, and if they don't disappear, send 50 horse archer's to pepper them, but stay out of close combat. The dwarves are so slow that they have no hope to catch up horses, and as i've heard they have no bows."
"Aye your Highness, we will act up to your orders."

When the messenger told the Dwarves to dissapear or they would kill them. Thorin got angry. Did he come all the way from the mountains in the North for nothing?
His answer was short: "No, the dwarves do not run in fear. We will fight you wherever and whenever we can" and Thorin took his axe with both hands, raised it above his head and charged the messenger, who fled back to Edoras.
"That was a mistake" Ori, one of the dwarves, said "we do not know their strength and yet we prepare to fight them, we should have withdrawn further away until more is known of their forces"
"It was indeed a risk to challenge them here and now. We should withdraw to that hill overthere and await their coming." Thorin replied "All we have to do is hold out for atleast an hour or two, when we will be reinforced by Dain".
That seemed reasonable to Ori, it wouldnt be easy fighting of a numerically superior army, but the company was made up of the best and strongest dwarves. This plan was feasable and the dwarves refused to retreat.
Only minutes later the dwarves saw a small group of mounted archers coming their direction "Only fifty?" Ori remarked with some dissapointment in his voice "What is the meaning of this? Is it a trap?" The dwarves got worried now but Thorin remained calm "we will soon know the meaning of it" and he set up his defenses "Form a circle! Shields to the front and bows behind them, dont leave the formation."
The Archers reached the dwarven position and opened fire, several dwarves fell or got wounded before they could take up their place in the group. The dwarven bowmen, some fifty, did not wait for the enemy to massacre the dwarves in the open and returned fire.

Rain of arrow's smashed on Rhun infantrymen. Many díed. Still many more survived. The 200 archer's were still firing at the Rohirrim atop of the stairs.
Even as tens and tens were constantly dying from the arrows, some almost 800 men were able to evade the arrows. Still more than 200 lied dead in the stairs. It was a real massacre. Now the remaining 800 men raised their swords and spears and charged at the Rohirrim spearmen manning the top of the stairs. Even tough they dramaticaly outnumbered the rohirrim, this was going to be a tough battle. The rohirrim were in better position's and they were better motivated, trained and armed. Seeing this the King of Khand sent another part of his troops, this time the Khand Guard Batallion
(600 veteran heavy infantry) to advance the stairs.
As the new troops begun to move up the stair's, the 800 light infantrymen charged at the rohirrim in the top of the stairs.

The light infantry were now in close combat. The Rohan's spearmen were making the battle very tough, and the variags were dying in great numbers.
However as all the variag light infantry reached the rohirrim, they were packing so thight that the pressure of Rhun's troops pushing forward had to cause problems to rohirrim. This becouse they still more than doubled in number when compared to the rohirrim.
The same time the 600 strong Khand guard batallion was marching fast up the hill. When the archer's started firing at them, they formed a shield wall to block the arrows. And thus, when they marched up the stairs, they were taking very light casualties as most of arrows bumped off theyr shields or armour.

As the archer's again opened fire on them they took some casualties but not too many as archer's couldn't fire too fast becouse otherwise they could have killed rohirrim too.

To the troops in the Harrowdale, order them to build a stockade that blocks the vale from the fields. Once they're there, you must start the attack. Harad and Rhûn will get a call (massage) to give help. Rhûn is very busy with the peasants to the north. Harad should be able to give help."
Ancalagon:"Yes, lord. Shall we begin with catapults and archery fire?"
Chief Nazgûl:"Do everything to strike terror in Gondors troops. I will come when the time has come."
Ancalagon:"Yes, lord."
Ancalagon leaves Minas Morgul at the head at a first group of 2500 Uruks.
Message to Rhûn and Harad
The time has come. The west will fall and we will rule this place. Especially Harad has to send me troops and Mûmakil to support us (Rhûn and me) in our conquest. Send help and you will be rewarded. If you refuse, Saurons wrath will be upon you.
for Rhûn alone
We know you are busy with the peasants, the Elves and dwarves. 7500 Uruks will depart from Minas Morgul soon. some 4500 Orcs and Uruks will depart from the blackgate to join your forces. Expect them in a 2 days (is that realistic?) and we will defeat them.

OOC:Well Kelmdrop, remember that you have Theoden's rider's stuck up in Helm's Deep, and that Erkenbrands 1000 riders were massacred outside Helm's Deep. Otherwise that sounds just fine.

OOC:Umm i think 10 000 dwarves is a bit of overkill. That Page says 10 000 on erebor and 5000 from iron hills at max. But the number's on that page seem to be a bit of too much. Or well tehy could be realistic but propably true if you would call every single one of your soldier's to arms.
Anyways i don't think that swarves would get 2/3 of all theyr warriors to help some petty human's in some distant country, and meanwhile leave theyre homes almost unprotected. But well.. its up to you still how many you take.
The Easterlings originally attacked Dale, but since you're moving into Rohan and my only opponent in this region went for Lothlorien this means i have no other choice but to come and help Rohan. Otherwise i could just quit this RP.
I'll leave the 500 men at home and just go on with the dwarves.
i just wonderd is it any way i could join in??????

Ic: The Host of rohan roared across the plains. In the early morning hours they rode towards edoras. "My lord, we should be there by mid morning at this rate." Grimbold basicly had to shout this as he rode by. Good. Eomer thought. "Soon, victory will be at hand."

OOC: Eckhlon, just fyi. In a much earlier post, Imrahil sent most of the Dol Amroth navy to Tol Falas (the Anduin Delta) to hold it. Since youre the Corsairs it could be significant.
IC:
Celebran and his Knights rode in the van with Eomer. Sea blue pennants flew from their upright lances as they rode. Their burnished armor flamed in the morning sun, making them seem like creatures of fire. Swan fether plumes flew taut in the wind of their passage. Celebran and his Knights were riding to battle on a foreign field, and none knew if any would return to tell the tale in the city of the Swan.
