It was the first day of school. A regular, normal first day. But at the begining of 4th period the lives of a class of 6th graders would be changed forever.
"Goodmorning class, I am Mrs. Harris, your science teacher"
"Hello Mrs. Harris" said the class. " Does anyone know how humans came about?"
"God created us from the dust of the earth" said Susie, who wanted to be a nun. "wrong, we are evolved from monkeys."
The bell rang. " You may go to lunch. "
A thoughtful boy, Thomas Young, who had known she was a heretic when she said that comment about evolution. He went to the Pastor of the local church, ST. Pius X, which also ran the parish scool.
" father, Father!!!"
"Yes thomas" 'the new teacher, Mrs. Harris taught evolution."
" I knew, the only teacher in the whole archdiocese who is not a nun teaches evolution, Thomas go back to school, Ill handle it."
father O' Rourck grabbed his cell phone and call Bishop O' Reilly, one of 2 auxillary bishops of the archdiocese. He told him about the situation.
" Hello children, said Mrs. Harris said to the class as they returned from Lunch with a big smile. That smile lasted 2 seconds. Helocopters hovered above the roof. Elite teams btoke through the windows. A second team broke in through the class room door. ' Everyone get down. The children ducked under their desks. Mrs. Harris was taken and thrown to the floor. She was then put in handcuffs and then was told that she was under arrest for heresy, teaching evolution. "Nooooooooo"
She was thron into a cage in the back of the SWAT trucks and then brought before the inqusitors.

' How do you plead?"
" Not guilty"
" You lie come hear Thomas, Did she teach evolution"
" Yes Your Reverance"
He confered with the other inquisitors.
" Well the quickest finding in the history of the Archdiocese"
" Guilty"
"I hereby sentance you to be burned at the stake."
She was taken to her cell her hands were burned by torches when she struggled. She was then taken out to the stake and bound to the stake. Hay was Lit with gasoline and it was lit.
All that remained was a pile of ashes.

Blargistania condemns these actions taken by Cherry Ridge. The repression of knowledge is damaging not only to those who teach it, but for those that learn as well. The actions taken by the teacher where in the interest of spreading the true knowledge, not the religious fallacy. The trail this innocent recieved is widely regarded within Blargistania as a sham trial held by fanatical fundamentalists who wish to see true knowledge crushed. Cherry Ridge will be the target of sanctions by Blargistania until the verdict is reversed and evolution is allowed to be taught in schools.

*Aboard the Pax Magellanic Class Aircraft Carrier CNS Athena*

Rear Admiral Gina Jetal shook her head and looked at her orders again. Her second in command, Captain Jake Castille sat silently at the other side of the dining table they were seated at, they had been interupted during dinner when the Alert - One message was recieved from Colonial Fleet Command.

"What does it say?" Asked Captain Castille, getting impatient. "Well, it boils down to the government of Cherry Ridge just caught someone doing abortions, and unless we do something, they're probably going to burn them to death" Admiral Jetal replied, tossing the sheet of orders over to Castille. "What about diplomatic pressure?" Asked Castille, as he flipped over to the satellite photo section of the orders. "Expected to fail" Answered Jetal grimly. "Get the battlegroup ready for action. Command wants us to get a team of Colonial Rangers airbourne in V-22's ASAP, but to have them wait outside of Cherry Ridge airspace for confirmation of action. These Cherry Ridge guys should know better than to mess with a Colonial Battlegroup, but we don't know what kind of forces they've got - the Rangers could have hot extraction on thier hands, and that could mean alot of trouble for us". And, with that, the officers departed the Admiral's private dining room. Admiral Jetal wanted to ensure her ships were in proper formation, and Captain Castille was going to breif the Rangers himself.

OCC: I'm still working out exactly what's in a Colonial Battlegroup, but what I have can be posted either when it's needed or if you want that info now.

Since your position is that anyone who breaks your religous laws is no longer a citizen of yours, the Democratic Colonies' position is that it immediately offers citizenship, or atleast refugee status to anyone who loses thier Cherry Ridge citizenship for breaking religous laws. Once the person is safely extracted and either on Colonial soil or a Colonial ship, they are formally asked to fill out the paperwork required for citizenship or refugee status.

The Democratic Colonies defends its right to protect its citizens, as well as invokes the UN resolution "Religious Tolerance, Fair Trial, Due Process, End Barbaric Punishments, Definition of 'Fair Trial', and Abortion Rights" to defend its actions.

OCC: Yeah, sorry I missed that last part about the doctor already being dead.

IC: The V-22 lifted off the flight deck of the CNS Athena as a young ensign ran out to where Captain Castille was watching it depart. The ensign was waving her arm while carrying a stack of papers, and nearly had her hat blown off by the harsh sea wind as she dodged a taxiing F-14E Cobalt Tomcat that was manuvering for refueling. "Sir! Captain Castille!" She shouted at the Captain. Breathless, she mustered a salute and mouthed the words "It's too late" as the scream of a Cobalt Tomcat launch drowned out her words. She handed Captain Castille her small stack of papers when she finally reached him and watched his reaction as he read them. First, there was shock, then anger, then saddness as he absorbed the information - the doctor discovered performing abortions was already dead. "Does the Admiral know?" Asked Castille, taking the time to read that the Ensign's ID tag read "Burrows". "Yes sir," she replied, "she was reading the report from Command as it came in. The Rangers are being recalled now, but the Battlegroup is remaining on alert". As she finished her sentence, the V-22 Ospreys returned to the flight deck, the onboard Rangers visiblely disappointed.

The Colonial Government extends a serious warning at this point. We believe that Cherry Ridge is in blatent violation of the UN resolution "Religious Tolerance, Fair Trial, Due Process, End Barbaric Punishments, Definition of 'Fair Trial', and Abortion Rights".

As well, the Colonial Battlegroup off the coast of Cherry Ridge is prepared to engage in retalitory strikes against Cherry Ridge if it does not comply with the UN resolution immediately and allow safe passage out to the Democratic Colonies for any of its citizens who wish to leave at any time.

The Battlegroup includes 3 Pax Magellanic class aircraft carriers, totalling 546 embarked aircraft at 182 aircraft per carrier, as well as 2 Crusader class battleships, which mount 4 24" guns, 6 16" guns, 12 5" guns as well as Harpoon and Tomahawk missiles.

Secret IC: Democratic Colonies is planning assasinations via airstrike if diplomatic pressure fails.

If this escalates to war there will only be more innocent deaths then what is neccessary to justify this war. Think about it. Many soldiers will die over the irreversable deaths of a few mishaps who chose treason over following the law of there own nation.

A nation has the right to control its own people. It may place laws on its land and have the right to enforce those laws. Other nations have no right to go to another county and tell them how they should be runnning things. These happenings in Cherry Ridge are not a matter of national security for any opposing nations. So we ask that you please rethink your motives for war.

Official Imperial Statement

Cherry Ridege's fundamentalism is a threat to both it's own citizens, and the nations of the world. We believe that the boundary for national sovereignty is crossed when a nation loses the ability to govern it's own populace. This madness must be stopped by whatever means necessary, even if it means war.

*At the Colonial Intelligence Service Operational Command Centre*

Nick Giffman slowly made his way over the where the commotion was taking place. "Goddamn it!" He heard a man wearing a suit and tie say loudly. "What's going on?" He asked fellow Operations Officer Helena Garner. "Intel must have screwed up big time" she said, "Mistranslation of the CR statement. They said that they had people in prison, but none for religous crimes - stupid pinheads at the translation department!". Nick was shocked - and slightly offended. "Hey.. I used to work at the translation department. And don't the Cherry Ridge people just speak english, but with a weird accent?". "Well, yeah," said Garner, "but those accents are reeeealy weird." before wandering back to her work station. "Hey! You didn't apologize for the part about the Translations Department!" Nick yelled after her.

OCC: Okay, I misread. Sorry, I thought it said you still had religous prisoners, but CR says they're in prison for secular crimes, ie stealing.

*CNS Athena*

As Ensign Roxio Burrows approached the bridge, she sensed an air of seriousness in it, even more so than usual. Passing on the report she was tasked with bringing up to another ensign, she quietly asked a nearby radar operator what happened. "We just got orders from Command," he whispered, "we are to launch 4 of the F-35 Joint Strike Fighters and have them buzz right along the edges of Cherry Ridge airspace. Technially, they'll be in international airspace, but they'll be cutting it close. They're supposed to be in full stealth mode with radios silent, and they're gonna take photos and intercept radio transmissions. Command wants us to locate the position of thier national leaders, then, if everything goes to hell, we kill them. Assasination via 500 pound GPS bomb" he smiled. "Assuming, ofcourse, that talks totally fail. And I think they damn nearly have" he continued, as the first of the F-35s were launched off the flight deck. "Apparently, thier leader was speaking to a crowd of followers earlier, but Command ruled out blowing up the rally. They want to avoid collateral damage as much as possible... so no blowing up rallies, no tac-nukes... nothing fun at all" he finished, shaking his head. Roxio had to smile at that last comment, even though she was scared to death by the propect of actual combat.

OCC: The F-35 JSF is a RL stealth fighter-bomber, please take into account its stealthiness.

A predator spy drone flew high above Cherry Ridge. It swooped over mountain ranges and coastlines. Everysingle time a metalic object was sensed, the camera went off. Intelligence began to filter back in to command as well as the Pandora command room. Within the Tactical Command Room (TCR) Admiral William Benly reviewed what was coming in. Most of it was residential neighborhoods. A lot of churches. A few images of a rally flashed up. The cardinal was adressing a crowd of some thousands. It didn't really matter, that was just a public relations and propoganda move.

Benly sighed. It would impossible to strike effectivly without damaging the religious shrines. An atheist himself, Benly really didn't care about the buildings, except for their historical interest. He just knew it was a bad move in regards to the populace. His official statement had already gone out though. The shrines would be targets if they held items of military significance. Benly rubbed his eyes and turned back to the pictures coming in.

So would the esteemed Patriarch agree if we were to persecute all of my citizens ignorant enough to not believe in evolution? However, in the first bit, when it's either just 5 or 24 of my people in there with no cover, it might get a bit hairy - your forces joining in any action could save dozens, if not hundreds or easily thousands of lives. While the Democratic Colonies did hope to resolve the situation peacefully, it appears that that simply is no longer possible. The attempts to send in a team of people to determine if there are individuals who wish to leave Cherry Ridge but cannot have been aborted. The 4 F-35 Joint Strike Fighters will continue thier attempts to locate the CR national leaders through radio interceptions. As well, another Colonial Battlegroup is being dispatched.

The 4th Fleet, 2nd Battlegroup:

CNS Challenger - Pax Magellanic Class Aircraft Carrier with 182 Aircraft
CNS Templar - Pax Magellanic Class Aircraft Carrier with 182 Aircraft
CNS Concorde - Pax Magellanic Class Aircraft Carrier with 182 Aircraft

Total 4.2nd Battlegroup Aircraft = 546

CNS Atlas - Crusader Class Battleship
CNS Inherent Justice - Crusader Class Battleship

4 Ticonderoga II Class Crusiers
6 Arleigh Burke Class Destroyers
2 Oliver Hazard Perry Anti-Submarine Frigates
6 Los Angeles Class Submarines

----------

The total number of the aircraft between the two battlegroups will be 1092, split between the six Pax Magellanic Class Aircraft Carriers present. While the colonial forces there will assist in the destruction of military targets and will provide other services as needed, ie Combat Air Patrol, we will not engage in targeting any religous or civilian structures unless they are being used for blatently military purposes. *Colonial Intelligence Service Operational Command Centre*

Operations Officer Nick Giffman stared at the CRNN report being piped onto one of the four massive projection screens at the front of the command centre. The other screens were filled with spy satellite feeds of the same religious procession being covered on CRNN and the somewhat fuzzy video feeds from the 4 F-35 JSFs assigned to buzz the Cherry Ridge border, which were also trying to get a good view of the event.

There was discussion of assasination then and there, but it was decided that there were still too many non-combatants around. Nick still longed to see a 500 pound GPS guided bomb just slam right down that Cardinal's throat live on these screens this very minute... But it wasen't going to happen, so he and all the others who wished for the same thing would just have to continue to wait for the attack to begin. It was too bad that the talks couldn't continue, Nick also mused. Diplomacy was usually the best way to go about doing things. It did seem like the talks were going somewhere, but alas, the other nations opposed to CR's actions didn't have the patience for what would probably have turned into a shooting situation anyways. Nick sipped his mocha cappa latte drink as the crowds on the monitors yet again erupted into cheering thier support for the church.

I sure as hell don't want any of my people on an unarmed CR helicopter when the shooting starts, or even on a pair of my Ospreys in the middle of the firefight that apparently will break out soon.

*F-35 Joint Strike Fighter along Cherry Ridge / International Airspace Border, 55,000 Thousand feet above sea level*

"Jesus frelling christ on a stick!" Screamed Lieutenant Roger McPierce, second in command of the 4 fighter flight as a missile missed his cockpit by inches. "What's going on? Wh - Sh---" He heard over his radio as he saw one of the F-35s take a missile in its engine and go down in a fireball. He heard the voice of his flight leader, Lieutenant Sandra Governs radio back to the CNS Pax Magellanic. "This is Recon Flight Alpha to Pax Magellanic, I repeat, this is Recon Flight Alpha, do you read me!?" She yelled. "Pax Magellanic here, what's your status?" He heard the calming voice of the Pax Magellanic's naval AI ask. "Maggie! We're under attack! The frelling Kilmanga fighters, they're shooting at us!" Governs yelled, as she dodged a missile and began a series of S-curves. "Understood Recon Flight Alpha, reinforcements are en route. You are to return to the Pax Magellanic ASAP. Airbourne AWACS now has you at extreme range, you look okay for exit back to me at vector 107 South-South East." "Understood!" Yelled Govern, as she took a missile in her left wing. "Gorram it!" she screamed, as her plane went into an uncontrolled spin. The other remaining F-35 of the recon flight followed her down as Govern went into an uncontrolled descent. "McPierce, Chang, get back to the Pax" she ordered. "Leave no man behind..." McPierce could hear Chang mutter. The strain in Govern's voice was clear as she radioed to the Chang. "Damn it Chang! I'm bailing out, and you can't hold off those Kilmanga fighters, especially loaded out with all this recon gear. Now get back to the Pax, and that's a gorram order!" And, with that, the canopy of Lieutenant Sandra Governs F-35 JSF popped open, and her ejection seat rocketed her away from her rapidly burning fighter. "Let's go Chang," McPierce called out, "before they get us too." Chang's fighter seemed to hesitate for a second, then went into a full power climb as a missile impacted its under belly. "No! Chang!" McPierce yelled, as he saw the explosion. "It's okay, I'm okay" managed Chang, seemingly out of breath as another missile came within feet of his fighter. "Let's get the hell out of here" repeated McPierce, as he looked behind him for more enemy fighters. Pax Magellanic's AI came on over the radio again. "Do you have any idea how they detected you despite the stealth nature of your fighters?" She asked. The pilots responded in the negative. "I see," Pax Magellanic continued, "well, a full squadren of 16 F-111C Sea Aardvarks and a full squadren of 16 F-14 Cobalt Tomcats are on thier way to secure Lieutenant Govern's location right now. 6 Squadrens of Sea Aardvarks and 12 Squadrens of Cobalt Tomcats are also being scrambled to help secure the area while V-22s go out to retrieve her. Can you two make it back to me alright?". "Yes, we'll be fine" answered Chang, sounding a bit weak. "Are you okay, Chang?" asked McPierce. "No. I think I'm bleeding... my cockpit looks fuzzy... I think I'm losing con..s.." and then Chang went silent. McPierce began to depserately plea into his radio. "Chang? Chang? Look, if you can hear me, eject! Do you understand?". There was silence for a few heart stopping moments, but then Chang's cockpit blew apart and he ejected safely. McPierce took a breath of relief - he thought Chang was done for. McPierce then radioed in Chang's position to the Pax Magellanic - he only hoped that the Pax's V-22s would come intime to prevent Chang from drowning to death. The naval flightsuits would automatically engage a floatation device if they came into contact with water, but even with that, the risk of drowning or of enemy capture was still great.

OCC: Also, could you give somekind of explaination regarding how you did detect those stealth fighters?

EDIT: Oh, and I did the math of my inbound fighters too.

1 F-111C Sea Aardvark Squardren scrambled from each carrier = 6 squardrens = 96 F-111C Sea Aardvarks

2 F-14E Cobalt Tomcat Squadrens scrambled from each carrier = 12 squadrens = 192 F-14E Cobalt Tomcats

96 + 192 = 284 Medium / Heavy Fighter-Bombers at 16 fighters per squadren

EDIT AGAIN: No, wait, I forgot to factor in those already airbourne fighters Pax Magellanic mentioned. So thats:

284 + 16 Sea Aardvarks + 16 Cobalt Tomcats = 316

50 Raptor P3X 30s launched from the carrier asap when the sensors had picked up radio transmissions of allied fighters being destroyed, it was no time before they reached the fight.
"This is colonel Rumok, Kilmangan fighters, cease your attack now." In responce one flew past his cockpit, jarring the ship. "Engage Radio jamming, full evasive manuvering." he yelled. All the fighters under his command engaged, gunnery crew fired as helmsmen concentrated on steering. (These arent small fighters, they hold four people.) "Energise the hull plating." each ship had two turrets devoted to firing, so one ship could attack two at once. However the superior manuverability of the kilmangan fighters was making it difficult to hit them. "Fire missile clusters!" He could already see 8 of his fighters smoking in the water.

Meanwhile in space.....

The Freestar had picked up a small carrier group, they were the kind that only held 100 fighters or so. There were five in the group, however they had launched alot of their fighters to attack, so theyre small defensive task force of 50 wiukd be spread thin.
"All bomber and fighter pioletsreport to your ships, the kilmangan task force has been spotted, repeat all...."
250 fighters, and 100 bombers headed for the task force, at full speed, they reached them in ten minuites, the bombers dropping plasma charges, as the Fighters took on the defensive force.

Wing Commander Frank Duvalle stared out through the glass of his cockpit - 200 fighters were bearing down on his force of 316. As commander of the rescue force sent out for the downed members of Recon Flight Alpha, he had instructed the force to assume a loose, wedge based formation before being re-ordered to engage the incoming Kilmanga fighters and bombers. He had extreme confidence in his force's ability to defeat any enemy back when this was a rescue mission, but he was feeling a bit nervous now, starring down 200 beatrix fighters. He heard some nervous chatter coming in from his pilots and decided to take some action. "This is Duvalle. Cut the chatter, essential comms only. Co-ordinate with your Wing Commanders for targeting orders, then prepare to fire on my mark." There was a flurry of positive replies, and then Rear Admiral Jetal broke in for a private transmission to Duvalle. "I need an honest answer Duvalle - we can still afford to retreat from this one. Can you beat them?" It only took Duvalle a second to compose his reply. "Yes maam, we can beat them, I have the utmost confidence in my pilots". There was silence on the frequency for a moment. "We're sending up every combat aircraft we've got," Admiral Jetal told him. "Everyone else'll concentrate on taking out those bombers. You are to let the bombers go around your formation without going too far out of your way to intercept them, your primary target is the enemy fighters. Godspeed, Jetal out" she finished. Duvalle took a moment to wipe the sweat from his brow before confirming that every single one of his fighters had a good target lock on the enemy. At the extremely fast closing speeds involved, there would only be time for one or two missile salvos from his fighters before the Colonial and the Klmanga fighters ended up in dogfight range. He took one last look to confirm his fighters were in the formation that he wanted, and then transmitted to his fighter force to, in his words, "Let 'em have it".

*Abord the RNS Marauder OPB Buccaneer 25 miles off the shore of Cherry Ridge*

Colonel Wilkins skimmed through the intel report running across his command screen. He cleared his throat and prepared to break the news. "Thats it... The shoe dropped. Several DC Fighters were just shot down. Intel indicates that at least one pilot made it out alive, and is now down in the water. They are about 15 miles south of our position. Inform the Dunne to reoutfit 3 of the Maruaders for Anti-Air roles and prepare to pick up these pilots. I want 3 medics on this boat ASAP. We have to beat these bastards to the pilots. Inform the DC command of our intentions and offer to coordinate our rescue efforts with anything they can. Get me a Live Feed with the Grand Admiral. We need to see what else we can get here. This looks like its gonna turn into one big clusterf*ck, and fast. Lets move!"

The 6 man bridge crew jumped into action and prepared to for battle, running the boat through a shakedown cycle and sending orders to the other ships in the flotilla. "12 Marauders against 200 fighters? Piss poor odds for the little guys." Observed the Weapons Officer Tyson. "Heh you just keep them off my ass and I'll get us there and back" Chuckled Colonel Wilkins "Sorry sir... Its such a big target... I can't make any promises" Joked Tyson. "Just shut the hell up and get these guns online. I want to get moving ASAP. The Dunne is almost done with the second ship. 4 minutes at most and we will be ready to go."

"But sir? That's one thousand aircraft!"

"Do it! And also scramble the F-16 Flight already based in Cherry Ridge! And get those stealth supersonic bombers to take some action for crying out loud!"

"Yes sir!"

All 1000 of Cullenus's MiG-21s were flying toward Cherry Ridge in full afterburner. Currently at CR Airbase 1, the elite 6 F-16 flight had taken off and began offensive manuevers.
The first Cullenus missiles have been fired in the skirmish.

XB-70 Valkyrie supersonic bombers have been commanded to bomb at will on all enemy vessels. Escorted by ten A/F-19A Retaliators.

Earlier today Cullenus sent out hundreds if not a thousand Air Force pilots to Cherry Ridge. We do know that missiles have been fired and blood has been shed. Currently there is no report on results. We are expecting the return of our first MiG-21s for refueling and rearming soon. The military has planned a strategy of circular movement that will keep our pilots in the action non-stop. As others are coming in for refueling and such, others will be heading out.
Stay tuned, we will keep you updated on this current conflict.

*Aboard the CNS Pax Magellanic, off the coast of Cherry Ridge*

"So, all in all, we're pretty okay" said Lieutenant Sandra Govern over the satellite communcations connection that had been established between the Pax Magellanic and the Rastabastatopian vessel that had rescued the two down Colonial pilots. Govern and Chang were still aboard the Rastabastatopian ship, but Captain Castille, as well the Pax Magellanic's JAG officer were in an auxilery communications room aboard the Pax to talk to Govern. "That's excellent news," said Captain Castille, "it's damn good to hear from you again". "Yes sir," nodded Govern, who then indicated a small medical cot behind her. "The medics here say Chang should be okay, and they look like they know thier stuff." "Good," replied Castille. "Well, just sit tight for the time being, and a V-22 will be along eventually to pick you two up. And don't worry about getting ambushed - those Kilmanga fighters outnumbered you by a huge ratio, there was nothing that you could have done. It's too bad about Wheeler, but we'll be sure to recover his body after the battle - he didn't die for nothing. You did everything you could Lieutenant, and we're proud of you." Govern blinked away a tear at the mention of Wheeler, the pilot they had lost, and saluted as Captain Castille and the JAG officer rose to depart. Govern had wanted to talk to McPierce as well, but he was out with the rest of thier squadren engaging the rest of the Kilmanga forces. With Chang totally out of commision for the time being and her with a deep gash on her arm, Govern decided to make the best out of the situation she could since both she and Chang would have been placed on mandatory medical leave even if they were back on the Pax Magellanic, so she thanked the comms techie who hooked up the satellite transmission, and collapsed back into her own medical cot, feeling exhausted.

General Vosokov couldn't believe his ears, the Siesatians had joined the fight, on two fronts. they had sent a weak force to challenge their large one, and then sent bombers off to destroy their carriers.
"Damn them" he yelled to his helmsman. "they sent out maybe 50 fighters, and we missed their bluff. They have the Freestar, and that holds almost 2000 fighters. now our carriers are limping back home!"
"But the battle below, did we win?" the helmsman asked,
"yes, at the loss of over a hundred fighters!" we need to get the maurauder out of harm way, along with our remaining two carriers. So that the fighters have something to land on."
"Why don't we go after the freestar?"
"WHAT!!! GO AFTER A SUPER CARRIER!!!?!!? WE WOULD BE CRUSHED, THEY HAVE TWO BATTLECRUISERS FOR SUPPORT!"
"Then why don't we keep the fighters from finding their carrier?"
"Becaus.... YES, good work, we can confuse them, by jamming ID signal codes, they'll have to sit and wait until the battle is over, or risk coming into contact with us."

we lost 123 fighters, the rest headed home.

Grand Admiral Chaz Luciano stretched out as he walked up the steps to the Dunne's bridge. Long flights always left him cramped. He palmed open the bridge's security door and walked in. He was immediately ambushed by an intel officer waving a portable viewscreen in his face. "Sir Sir here is the intel up to the moment. We are waiting on a report from the Marauder flotilla we sent to rescue the downed pilots. He sighed as he read through the intel report. Things were bad, he had to admit that. Little did he know things were about to get worse.

"Sir incoming transmission from Colonel Wilkins of the Marauder OPB Buccaneer!" shouted the comm officer.

"Put him on the main screen."

The image on the main screen snapped to life, and then just as suddenly, went black.

"No visual, audio is still coming in though... I'm gonna try and boost the signal and scrub out the static. There will be a few second delay becuase of this." said the comm officer as he furiously punched commands into his console.

"Sorry.... Bad sign............... mission succ........ attack.... losses.... wounded.... 3 ships... 3 minutes...."

"Thats all... looks like com was cut off on their end." said the comm officer.

Chaz thought for a moment and then started to gather his thoughts. "Ok get a medical crew to the deck and be ready to recieve wounded. Have the briefing room ready. I'll be down there if you need me. Send the crew to me as soon as they get aboard."

He didn't have to wait long. 49 men and women walked into the large briefing room, all with the look of soldiers who had just been through hell. "SIR! COLONEL WILKINS REPORTING AS ORDERED!" barked the senior office, and regardless of their condition, they all snapped to attention.

"At ease. Colonel. You were the commanding officer for this mission. Tell me what happened."

The Colonel took a deep breath and began.

"At approximately 1700 hours DCAF F-35s were attacked while flying recon just outside CR Airspace. 2 Fighters were lost, but the pilots both managed to eject. We were the closest units to the scene and I gave the order to launch a quick pickup mission. We had 3 of the Marauders reoutfitted for AA roles and moved out. We got to the waypoint and picked up the first pilot, A Lieutenant Govern, and proceeded to the next to pick up her wingman (ooc: rank?) Chang, who is still unconscious and both are in the medical bay now. Both are wounded We had just gotten him on board when the radar officer on one of the AA Marauders, the Black Sally, picked up a flight of several aircraft on radar. Along with a large force of friendly aircraft. We spun the boats around and began to make for the Dunne, but they picked us up on radar and began an attack run. We had the 3 AA Marauders, including the Black Sally, drop back to hold off the fighters while we got the rescued pilots back to the ship. We thought that we lost all 3 of those ships, but from radio transimssions we recieved before they dropped off radar, we are aware that they inflicted some losses. Since there is still a FOF beacon out there I am assuming that they managed to down all of the hostile aircraft, but 2 were lost and 1 disabled in the process. Take that at face value though Sir, as that is no more than a guess."

Chaz was again lost in thought and began slowly. "Very well. You made the right choice faced with a tough decision. I am glad we did not have to find out what a fanatical country such as Cherry Ridge would do with a female prisoner. Send 2 Marauders with fresh crews to check on that beacon and destroy any derilict equipment. Also inform the bridge that the Dunne is to make best speed to the DC fleet. I have a feeling that we will be seeing a lot more action soon and I don't want to be stuck out here alone when they come looking for blood. That is all. DISMISSED!"

OCC: I'm kind of confused about what just happened with Kilmanga, but since he said that his forces bugged out without mentioning any engagement with me, I'll assume that the 316 Colonial fighter vs 200 Kilmanga fighter battle just kind of ended after my initial missile volley that inflicted.... ? Light or no damage?

And Rastabastatopia, to clairify, there were four pilots involved in the recon flight, with three of them being shot down. Of those three, Lt. JG Wheeler was killed, but you managed to rescue Lt. Sandra Govern and Lt. JG Austin Chang. Thank you for doing so.

Oh, and also, I now realize that I messed up a carrier name early on in the RP. In the first few pages, I make references to a Pax Magellanic Class Carrier named "Athena", but I later changed that to "Pax Magellanic" - just a little screw up on my part, I even transfered all my characters over. Just kind of ignoring it would probably be the best thing to do...

IC: Rear Admiral Jetal studied the computer map that Pax Magellanic's AI was generating for her, and planned out her fighter movements. Since the large battle that Wing Commander Duvalle was expected to be in mainly fizzled out when the opposing force bugged out, thanks entirely to the attack on their space assets by Siesatia, the combined Colonial Taskforce off the coast of Cherry Ridge still had nearly all of her combat aircraft operational. Upon hearing that the Rastabastatopian vessel Dunne intended to join up with the Colonial force, Admiral Jetal immedately assigned what air cover she could for them. Although the range was still a bit far for the F-35 JSFs and the F-14E Cobalt Tomcats, the F-111C Sea Aardvarks had more than enough range to cover both the Dunne and the 2 Marauders that were going to check out the Rastabastatopian FOF beacon. 2 Squadrens of 16 Sea Aardvark fighter-bombers each (That's 32 total) were sent out to cover the 2 Marauders as they approached the Rastabastatopian FOF beacon, and another squadren of 16 was sent to cover the Dunne as she approached the Colonial taskforce.

OCC again: Siesatia, that cleared flat land you mentioned... I'm fairly certain it could work out either way, but I'd like to be sure. Would you like us to find you some cleared land, or, would you like us to clear you some land via explosives?

Matters little to us, we need the land, we have many supplies if we would like to use this as our base of operations, the shields would of course protect us once we landed, plus i could get my fighters back up, and begin my bombing runs, human religeous areas matter little to me, and the best way to demoralize an enemy is to destroy whats important to them, the church is most important, so the church must go.

Okay, I'm gunna catch up here:

The shots rang clear across the screens displaying various portions of Cherry Ridge. Bombs had been dropped. Worse yet, a flight of fighters had come down hard upon a Democratic Colonies recon flight squad. It was time for the Blargistanian's to move.

Benly signaled the Harrow and the Marklov . The crews hit high alert scrambled into action. Within 10 minutes, cruise missiles came online. One after another, the missiles streaked away from the battle cruisers, lighting up the night. The targets had been pre-programed for sites of strategic importance within Cherry Ridge.

On board the Pandora , fighters were being scrambled and put up into the air. The supercarrier and two nimitz carriers housed a total 1,150 aircraft, 123 Helicopters, and 5 U-2 spy planes. There were currently 54 of the MiG 32B interceptors in the air, keeping a vigiliant watch over the battlegroup. As the cruise missiles were being launched, another 50 F-122 Raptor Multirole fighters were sent up into the air.

Benly, watching from the TCR began to plot strategic moves that would eliminate the largest threats from Cherry Ridge. He looked to his fighter numbers and flight maps. "Order a flight of the Striker Heavy Bombers to take out the airfields here and here." He said, highlighting two sections of the map. His aids transferred the orders into the data systems and the ships AI followed the commands, prepping the bombers automatically.

An hour later, two flights of 50 bombers each launched from the carriers. They headed off under fighter escort for thier targets.

As the 2 Marauders approached their derelict brother, they heard cries for help from the deck. Apparently a near miss by a missile had caused the boats engines to fail and its electronics to overload. 2 of the original 5 crewmembers were still alive, albeit badly wounded.

"If we don't get these guys back to the Dunne soon they aren't gonna make it. This boat is still salvagable, so we need to take it with us." Said Lieutenant Armando Davis "Radio the DC and ask if they can lend us a V-22 to pick up the wounded crew and haul this boat back to the Dunne."

"But sir, we have towing equipment, why dont we just haul it back ourselves?" Said the radio officer.

"That would take too long. Even with all this air cover I don't want to be stuck out here alone when the bastards come back. Kill the engines and turn on active sonar. Intel reports that they don't have any subs but I sure don't want to be the one to prove intel wrong. Now get on the horn with DC command and ask for that Osprey."

*Onboard the CNS Pax Magellanic*

Rear Admiral Jetal rubbed her eyes as huge the bank of computer monitors winked out in front of her. She had just been in a two hour long video conference with the commanding officers, Wing Commanders and onboard AIs of the six Pax Magellanic class aircraft carriers present off the coast of Cherry Ridge, as well as the Director of Naval Intelligence, Vice-Director of Colonial Intellgence, and the Secretary of the Navy. Just introducing everyone involved in the video conference took atleast ten minutes, but they finally nailed down a plan - or, something approaching one atleast. The Colonial Intelligence Service had infact located what could be the perfect site for what Siesatia had in mind located very close to the capital of Cherry Ridge, but the Office of Naval Intelligence wanted Admiral Jetal to send out F-111Cs on a recon mission to do a low level flyby of the suggested area before giving it the all clear and recommending it to Siesatia. The AI of the CNS Challenger wanted to also begin a bombardment campaign, but the idea was put aisde for the time being, the Secretary of the Navy wanted to aviod the admittedly low chance of friendly fire or possible collision with the aircraft of BLARGistania. The greenlight was given for entry into Cherry Ridge's airspace at Admiral Jetal's will, but no bombing runs or tomahawk missile barrages were to be scheduled before the BLARGistanian bombing was complete. One of the more aggressive ideas that were passed though, involved sending foreward four of the eight Los Angeles class submarines in the task force to check the area immediately by the coast of Cherry Ridge for enemy submarines. If the coast was clear, the 4 Crusader class battleships of the taskforce could then move forewards, right up to the coast, and begin bombardment with thier 4 24" guns, 6 15" guns and 12 5" guns, capable of reigning total devestation along the coastline. The only other active unit action that was approved during the video conference was the launch of 638 fighters to linger outside of Cherry Ridge airspace and only enter CR airspace if the BLAGistanianians requested them to do so in order to provide support while 192 fighters continued to watch over the carriers of the taskforce. Rear Admiral Jetal ran over the numbers in her head again:

-32 F-111 C Sea Aardvarks to do low altitude, supersonic recon of the "flat, clear land" siesatia wanted
- 698 fighters to support the BLARGistaniaians if needed
- 192 fighters to defend the carriers
- 48 F-111C Sea Aardvarks already covering various Rastabastatopian ships
- 4 subs foreward to check for enemy subs

It all seemed to work out, so Jetal leaned back in her seat and tried to get a few moments rest - although it didn't last very long. One of the monitors winked on again, and the concerned looking AI of the Pax Magellanic, appearing on the moniter in her always seemingly starched and polished modified colonial uniform, and began to speak. "I'm sorry to interupt Admiral, but we're recieving a transmission from the Rastabastatopians." "Put it onscreen" ordered Jetal, and the details of the situation came through. Jetal thought the situation over for a second, before deciding to send out a pair of V-22s to answer the Rastabastatopian request for assistance. She was sure to order one of them loaded with a Colonial medical team. There weren't any escorts she could assign to them, but she believed that they would be okay - it wasen't that far anymore from the battlegroup to the location of the Rastabastatopian FOF beacon, and the Ospreys would be under AWACS cover the whole time, with fighters at both ends of the trip. With that done, she began to make her way towards the flag mess to get herself more coffee as the thunder of the launching aircraft reverberated through the ship.

Solar Wing, one of the task forces of bombers that were launched flew high over Cherry Ridge. From here the could just see the nation below them. Small towns dotted here and there, open grass lands, forested areas. It all looked very pretty. The wing commander sighed, by the end of this campaign, most of it would likely be destroyed. The bombers continued on their course.

Back at the fleet TCR, Benly watched their progress, marked by a group of small green arrows moving on a clear tac screen in the center of the room. The tac screen currently displayed the entire nation of Cherry Ridge, in addition to the surrounding waters. Any part of the nation could be roomed in upon, based upon intelliegence being constantly fed into the tac screens. Benly watched as an aid zoomed in on the second group of bombers, the map enlarged around the cluster of green arrows, showing the immediate landscape. "ETA to target, 20 minutes".

OCC: Feel free to call in my fighters at any time BLARGistania.

IC: The 32 F-111C Sea Aardvarks zoomed over the terrain of Cherry Ridge at mach 2.4, all of them at less then 200 feet above the ground and all of them doing thier best to hug the terrain and avoid detection. Normally, a recon mission like this would have gone to the stealthy F-35 JSFs, but after what happened to Recon Flight Alpha, Command wasen't sure if the Cherry Ridgers had stealth-detection devices or some other kind of stealth-foiling device, so the desicision was made to send in heavily armed, high speed Sea Aardvarks instead of JSFs. As they whipped thier way through valleys and and between hills, they saw no signs of interception, although every member of the recon force would bet on the noise they were making being loud enough to wake the dead.

Five hundred of the MiG-21s coming in from refueling and rearming spotted a group of aircraft carriers a bit off the coast of Cherry Ridge. Many fighter aircraft could be seen flying patrols.

"Wing Commander to HQ, over"
"This is HQ, go ahead."
"We haved spotted some of the oppositions aircraft carriers gaurded by an estimated 200 fighter aircraft. Requesting permission for agressive manuevers. Over"
"Well they are outnumbered 2 to 5, fire at will! Out"
"Wilco, out"

"Alright guys! It's time to rock n roll! May God be with you!"

The 500 MiG-21s charged in in full afterburner. The first wave all at once launched 50 some odd missiles at the enemy fighters dotting the air. A few more missiles were launched at the aircraft carriers in a full out attack.

OoC: Here is a compilation of what I posted in the other thread. I will have an IC entrance into the war up soon enough.

OoC: I'd just like to point out that, as a UN member, Cherry Ridge is in violation of several UN resolutions.

These include, but are not limited to, the following.

Religious Tolerance
Fair trial
The Universal Bill of Rights
Due Process
Definition of 'Fair Trial'
Universal Freedom of Choice
Abortion Rights

Kahta views the UN as an organization full of Utopian Liberals, not the real world.

Regardless, Cherry Hill is a member in violation of a large number of our resolutions. Considering that sanctions against Cherry Hill, having been in place for some time now (If you play 1 RL day tends to = 1 NS year, then they've been in place 2 years), have been so far ineffective, we of the ICRC feel that, as a UN member state, we are obligated to remove the regime currently in charge of Cherry Hill and open the country for the installment of a democratically elected secular government.

The ICRC is willing to contribute the 3rd battlegroup from the Western Fleet to this conflict, along with the 4th and 5th Marine divisions. Also, we will be sending 9th Transport Airwing into the conflict with three armored divisions that will remain unnamed. Lastly, Pride and Military Experiment have agreed to send the 4th Talon Strike Company and the 1st Red Airborne Company respectively.

OoC: The 3rd Battlegroup consists of the following:

5 Yorktown Class CVN 'Supercarrier' - 92 Aircraft per, assorted
1 Behemoth Class CVN 'Supercarrier' - 138 Aircraft per, assorted
2 Arizona Class BBG 'Guided Missile Battleship'
8 Kirov Class CGN 'Nuclear Powered Battlecruiser'
12 Arleigh Burke Class DDG 'Guided Missile Destroyer'
8 Seawolf Class SSN 'Fast Attack Submarine'
5 Ohio Class SSGN 'Cruise Missile Submarine' *

*NOTE: The Ohio SSGN does not carry any nuclear tipped missiles. The ICRC tends to despise nuclear weapons, so the entirety of our small stockpile of such weapons are located on Ohio Class SSBN submarines.

GV condems these treacherous and vile attempts by the so-called united nations to steal away the sovereignty of Cherry Ridge. The Valian government strongly advises Cherry Ridge to withdraw from the UN at once if it values its rights to stamp out the Heretic menace from within.

Cherry Hill is a member of the UN by it's own free will, and as such is willingly subject to our resolutions. Cherry Hill violated these resolutions while still a member, so withdrawing now will do very little except remove whatever UN resolutions it may have had protecting it.

Secret IC:

In an effort to retain the ability to strike back should this conflict turn nuclear, the ICRC has decided to send fifteen of their Ohio Class SSBN's, each equipped with 24 Trident-II nuclear tipped ballistic missiles, into international waters located close to Cherry Ridge. Of the 360 missiles, 350 do not have preset targets, while the remaining ten are targeted at Cherry Ridge's largest concentrations of military force and the capitol city. However, in keeping with previous policy, the ICRC refuses to begin a nuclear war, and will only fire in response to an attack using WMD's (Including but not limited to; nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons).

The Ohios are expected to arrive twelve hours behind the main naval force, and are to take up station at the sea floor in various locations surrounding Cherry Ridge.

The ICRC, though supporting this conflict, would like to warn all those involved that any impediment to the formation of a democratically elected government after this war will be considered an act of aggression against a UN member state. We implore you to leave the Cherrians to themselves following a suitable reconstruction period after the war.

Also, they are moving in under maximum stealth procedures, and their captains very much expect to get into position without being detected. To: All opposition

The Cullenus military asks all opposing forces of there intentions. If the main intention is to land a ship at Cherry Ridge to take any people who wish to go to another land, will they be actually allowed to stay if they will it. Cherry Ridge is there home, they grew up there. They're generally all Catholic. Those who aren't technically do not have citizenship and are illegal immigrants. Those, however, who break the law will be prosecuted and lose citizenship at the same time. Those few who did oppose the government did so in full realization of the consequences. They chose to break the law. And therefore were prosecuted. They are gone now. So I simply ask, are there actually any "refugees"? Or did the opposition create this scenario as an excuse to go to war? Or possibly subconsciously as an all-Catholic nation is contrary to there own all-atheistic nation?

OCC: Since you didn't mention an actual MiG-21 version, I'm just going to assume that there're somekind of modernish souped up varient.

IC:
*Aboard the CNS Pax Magellanic*

The bridge of the Pax Magellanic was abuzz with activity as the Colonial Taskforce prepared to engage the 500 incoming enemy fighters. The shipboard AI was engaged in multiple conversations with all the ship departments at once, while at the same time co-ordinating with the other ships in the task force. "We made a big mistake in sending out all those fighters" said Captain Castille as he came up beside Rear Admiral Jetal. "We didn't expect Cullenus forces to actually come back - a miscalculation" Jetal agreed. The 590 fighters were already being called back, but they would be lucky to see the tail end of this fight. However, the 192 F-14E Cobalt Tomcats of Colonial Battlegroups 3.1 and 4.2 were ready for battle as they counter-charged at the attacking MiG-21s, firing a full missile salvo of 192 long range missile as they closed the range between the two groups.

"Any hope of assistance from any friendly or neutral aircraft that can get here before the end of the battle?" Captain Castille asked the Pax Magellanic's AI. "That is unlikely, and I have recieved no indications that that will occur" answered the still calm AI. Captain Castille looked up to the sky as explosions began to appear. The CIWS turrents on all the Colonial ships had anti-air missiles, but the combat was still out of range for them. However, the ships were still in the range of the missiles of the MiGs, even if the reverse wasen't true, and the Pax Magellanic's AI realized it. "Incoming missiles, 16 targeted for the task force, 8 of them for us, altitude is 18,000 feet and dropping, speed is 200 knots and rising, all hands brace for impact" she warned, saying the words and figures as quickly as she could. Steel shutters began to drop around the windows of the bridge, and most were infact closed when the first missile hit the Pax Magellanic, but those on the port quadrent of the bridge were just a second too slow.

Wing Commander Kate O'Dell felt her heart beating in her chest at what must have been a million beats per second - she was outnumbered and outgunned, but she wasen't totally without advantages - she had the utmost faith that her uprated Tomcat, be it an older American fighter design of the Cold War, was still superior than the uprated Soviet Cold War design her enemy was using. There was no more time for that though - the moment of truth had come. This was the fight of her life, and she intended to live through it. She dodged an enemy missile as it came within feet of her cockpit, only to see it impact the Cobalt Tomcat behind her. She dodged another one, thankfully seeing it detonate against the cool night sky. She dodged another and another, and when she tought that her body could take no more G-foreces, she found that she was through the enemy fire. She could hear her pilots chattering, some in triumph and some in grief as they made it through the enemy salvo of missiles. "How we doing Franklin?" She asked her radar operator in the back seat of the Cobalt Tomcat. "I can't tell how many of our missiles hit, but Wing Commanders are reporting that the enemy fired around 50 missiles at us, a handful at the ships, and they scored 32 hits with thier missiles. All planes hit were either instantly destroyed, or so badly damaged that thier pilots had to eject." Kate tried to absorb the information as she attempted to get a clean radar lock for another salvo of missile fire against the enemy. "What about the ships?" She asked. "They're still reporting in," Franklin said, "details unavaible at this time".

Captain Castille tried to get up, but found that he couldn't. The last thing he remembred was a huge explosion, the loudest bang he'd ever heard go off right over his head... and then this. He opened his eyes and found that he was lying on the floor of the bridge on the Pax Magellanic, and that he could hear nothing but ringing in his ears. A metal support strut was laying across his legs, but a pair of ensigns were trying to pick it up and get it off of him. Castille looked around the bridge, or, what used to be the bridge - there was borken glass everywhere, the lighting and half the monitors in the room were out, and most of the port side of the bridge was simply a smoking ruin. Wrekage was everywhere, but as the ensigns worked the support strut off off him, he found that his hearing was returning to him. He could hear the sound of the Pax Magellanic's AI announcing a code red on the bridge with officers down, he could hear the wind gusting into the room... his hearing was normal now, but what bothered him most was not what he could hear, but what he couldn't. The usual, constant hum of the six nuclear reactors aboard the Pax Magellanic was gone. He turned to one of the ensigns, recognizing her as the one that rushed out onto the flight deck to give him a report earlier on. "Ensign Burrows... what happened?" he asked, almost afraid to hear the answer. "We're dead in the water sir," she replied "the flight deck looks like it still works, but only with one launcher, and that's only while we've still got juice for it. The engines are fried, a missile hit right back there. We've got nothing but batteries now, and those won't last long. The AI's already engaging a backup of her core personality files and sending it back to command... CIWS systems are still working, but when manually operated... sir?" Captain Castille had been listening closely, but lost total attention as he approached a corpse near the port side of the bridge with a jacket draped over its upper half. "Is that.... Is that Admiral Jetal?" asked Castille. He turned around and looked at Ensign Burrows when she didn't reply, but the look in her eyes told him everything he needed to know. Admiral Castille was dead.

The rest of the Colonial taskforce didn't suffer nearly as badly as the CNS Pax Magellanic. One of the other missiles impacted the Ticonderoga II Class Crusier CNS Bradwell, causing minor hull damage. Another missile impacted one of the launcher systems for Pax Magellanic Class Carrier CNS Liberator, but that could be repaired if given some time. All in all, the CIWS systems of the Colonial Taskforce performed well, but not well enough to prevent the CNS Pax Magellanic from being disabled.

OCC: We had to know you were coming with atleast some forewarning - I've got AWACS planes, and your planes aren't stealthy. Also, the Tomcats were expressly designed for long range combat, which is how I justify the full launch of a 192 missile salvo at longish range. Our fighters can now close to dogfight range if you wish.

It matters very little whether you condone UN resolutions or not, for by continuing membership in the UN, Cherry Ridge has expressed their approval. Considering that the violations were committed while Cherry Ridge was a member, even pulling out of the UN now will not save it from facing the consequences it has incurred upon itself.

"Shit Shit Shit Shit Shit" Colonel Wilkins swore as he dodged another burning hulk of a plane. He could not tell if it was friendly or not but it didn't matter. They were outnumbered 5-2 and unless these capital ships started bringing their AA weapons to bear soon the furball in the air would be over and the attacking MiGs would be free to attack the ships. Behind him were the other 8 ships remaining in the flotilla, all outfitted for Anti-Air combat. In the back of his head he wondered how the Dunne had managed to convert 9 Marauders to AA outfits in under 10 minutes. That thought was quashed from his mind as another burning hulk slammed into the ocean not 10 feet from his boat. Alarms started going off immediately as the boat rocked to a 70 degree angle and came crashing back to level. "Hopkins take care of that!" He barked over the alarms. "SIR!" came Hopkin's reply. Fortunately the MiGs above were too busy dogfighting to realize that the stealthy 9 ship flotilla had detached themselves from the rest of the fleet and began to move within Missile range of the dogfight. As soon as the 9 boats opened fire however, that would change. This was a suicide mission and everyone involved knew it. They had time to fire 1 slavo from their main armament and then they would have to hightail it back to the fleet and hope that the twin miniguns could buy them enough time to get back to the relative safety of the fleet.

"Pinza open a channel to all the Marauders!" he shouted to the comm officer.
"Sir you're live now" Pinza replied.

"Ok everyone. This will tax your targeting computers to the max, so take your time and don't blow it. Get a solid lock with as many missiles as you can and then launch the full 24. As soon as they are all away get your asses back to the fleet. Try and overlap your fields of fire to keep the bastards from getting too close. Fire on my order... 3... 2... 1... FIRE!!!"

It was an incredible sight, 216 missiles streaming away from the relatively small boats like tongues of fire, but Wilkins had no time to contemplate the poetic beauty of it. As soon as the last missile left its tube he spun his boat around and made flank speed back to the ships, knowing that with any luck that one slavo would turn the tides of this battle in their favor.

Rear Admiral Ronald Vice of the ICRC Interrvention Council starred out the front viewport of his flagship's, the Intrepid's, bridge. He looked quietly out over the flightdeck of his newly bestowed command, a modified Behemoth class supercarrier, and sighed in a mix of exasperation and nostalgia. While he was used to commanding a small taskforce from the flying bridge of an Arizona Class battleship, more specifically his beloved Guardian, but he had spent a portion of his early carrer serving aboard an older Nimitz class carrier. What an amazing turn of events this was, he was now the commander of a ship that held more than twice the air-wing of the Nimitz on which he had served as a mere cabin boy, and was even more able to absorb punishment. The admiral gave the flight deck one last look before turning back to the rest of the bridge and walking towards the communications stations in the pit area. He walked up behind the senior comm officer and began to speak.

"Major Divins, give your report. Have we recieved any updates from ICRC-IC HQ?", the admiral intoned in an even voice.

"Ah!", Divins said as he turned quickly, obviously surprised by the admiral, "Well, sir, yes, several actually. We recieved an uplink code to the MilSat currently situated over Cherry Ridge, which was moved slightly so as to easily focus on the air and naval battles taking place on the coast."

Vice looked at the most up-to-date read out of the MilSat's imagery for a moment, and muttered to himself, "Ahh, so someone did end up coming to the aid of these fanatics...", and then he continued, but louder so the Major could hear him, "Did we recieve any situational updates?"

Fidgeting, the Major called up a communique on his console and pressed a few buttons, "Yes sir, three. I'm uploading them to your DDM pad so you can view them at your convenience."

Ronald lifted up his Data Display and Management, or DDM, pad, and began browsing the reports sent to him by the ICRC-IC in response to numerous overflights of enemy territory by MilSat craft. Estimated troops strength, approximate location of enemy naval forces, updates on the air situation, and finally; orders on what to do next. The admiral scanned the reports for a minute before looking back up at the comm officer, "Is that all, major?"

"Well, uh, no sir, there is one more report. It's FYEO Red ST-3 Classified, though, so I am not permitted to handle it in an capacity, sir. If you don't mind, I would ask you to come and read it and then delete it, sir", the major said with not just a little nervousness in his voice. He himself had a OV Blue ST-7 clearence, somewhere in the order of twenty levels below what his commander had. He must be an important man if he was permitted such a high security clearence.

Or, apparently, not even the admiral was that important, "I'm sorry son, but I can't do anything about that message, either. It's two security levels out of my league. However, I think I know who does have the clearence..."

The admiral turned around and made to step out of the pit (Which, in reality, was a three inch depression in the deck), but stopped and returned his foot to the ground, smiling.

"Ah, Mr. Cleansworth, I believe there is a message for you".

"Really...", said the dark clothed civilian who had been assigned to Admiral Vice's bridge crew as an observer. Vice knew what bullshit that whole story was, and suspected that Cleansworth was actually an intelligence officer from the newly formed ICRC Intelligence Council, which was in and of itself a secret to those without a decently high clearence. The admiral's suspisions seemed confirmed when the man walked to the communications console, typed in a password, scanned the message that came up, then pressed a button to delete it.

The admiral looked at Cleansworth as he passed by and considered asking him what the message was about, but thought better of it and instead began issueing orders, "Helm, take us about twenty degrees west and sail with all good speed towards thirty-nine seven A quadrant, we're going to take station 100 miles from the Democratic Colonial fleet. Send out the same order to the battlegroup and also tell them to not fire under any circumstances unless the order comes from me. Order air patrols into the skies upon reaching our destination and await a request for assistance from the Colonials"

Vice took another cautious glance at Cleansworth who, he noticed, was looking almost straight down, as if he was staring down into the the depths of the oceans themselves...

*Aboard the Pax Magellanic Class Carrier CNS Challenger*

Commodre Herbert Danforth paced back and forth on his bridge as the Challenger's AI silently tracked his motions from the central computer monitor. "Godamn.... Admiral Jetal was good.... I'm not as good, I can't possibly assume command of the task force" he muttered. "Jesus H. Christ on a stick. I can't do this. I can't do this..." He continued, as he paced back and forth. "Commodore," began the Challenger's AI, trying to get his attention while he continued to pace. "Commodore..." she insisted, while Danforth continued to ignore her. She rolled her eyes as Danforth began to wave his arms around randomly. In her opinion, Commodore Danforth didn't belong in command of a garbage scow, but he had wormed his way up the ranks via family connections. Losing her patience, the AI finally decided to just beep a loud alert alarm to get his attention - "*BEEP!* Commodore!". "What?" finally answered the startled man. "Commodore," continued the now irritated AI, "we are receiving a report from the CNS Atlas that the Rastabastatopian ships are firing all of thier munitions in one large salvo in order to assist us in our battle. Communcations with thier commander indicated that they anticipate this to be a suicide attack. However, the AI and the Captain of the Atlas believe that if we were to move one of our AEGIS equipped Ticonderoga II Class cruisers out of formation and into a position better suited to cover them, they stand a much better chance of survival. Admiral Jetal's last order was for us to move forewards at maximum speed, so we are already en route. The moving of the crusier will affect the effiecentcy of our AEGIS net, but the other Ticonderoga class AIs believe they can compensate." The Commodore nodded absently and picked up a pen. The AI continued. "We are also recieving a transmission from forces sent by the Industrial Experiment - they are offering to assist us. I have already taken the liberty of accepting thier offer, since the latest news from Colonial Fleet Command is that the nearest Colonial reinforcements for us are still atleast a week away and probably longer than that. Commodore, are you listening to me?" Danforth was now chewing on his pen, seemingly paying no attention to the multi-million dollar AI as she briefed him. She ended up just speaking to the bridge crew in general, most of whom were trying to ignore the Commodore's incompetence. "As well, the fighter engagement overhead has closed to dogfighting distance." And, with that last comment, she sighed and flickered offscreen.

Wing Commander Kate O'Dell couldn't believe the tightness of the dogfight they were in - multiple missiles streaking past her wings less than a foot to spare, narrowly avoiding mid-air collisions as she bucked and rolled to avoid enemy fire and manuver for her own shots. The news of what happened to the Pax Magellanic and Rear Admiral Jetal, as well as the sacrifice that the Rastabastatopian ships were willing to make had only served to further the determination of the Colonial pilots. She heard whoops of successful kills more often than she heard the screams or the simple static noises of defeat, but she knew that her pilots were taking horrific losses, and she wasen't sure if they could hold off the superior enemy numbers. As she narrowly avoided ramming into the flaming hulk of her second in command's tomcat as it's fuel stores exploded, her radar operator told her that they had suffered yet another 25 loses since closing the distance between the two groups of fighters. Wing Commander Kate O'Dell's command was down to 135 fighters. O'Dell tried not to think about what that loss of life really meant while she squeezed off another missile.

The MiG-21s engaged the enemy fighters in combat. There was a mixture of missiles and bullets buzzing by and random explosions. The MiGs charged through firing feriously.

The commander dodged missile after missile ignoring the sweat dripping down over his eyes.

"I got one on my tail!"

He did not hesitate and followed what he was trained to do. He finally shook him off.

Another MiG pilot took on some bullets. His aircraft was severely damaged.

"Damn! It's jammed! I cant eject!"

He pulled out his pistol and shot the window and then tried punching it out. The window flew away easily in the speed. Just as it went flying he pulled the ejection lever and rocketed up. He was launched straight into the belly of another MiG-21 dieing instantly.

"Don't let up! Keep it going and give them all we've got!"

Just then a hundred or so missiles came flying up from the ocean. In the surprises many of the pilots did not have time to react. Many MiGs went down in firey balls into the ocean.

A group of small boats were moving away from the location the missiles originated from.

"Get those boats!"

Ten MiGs turned toward the baots firing 15 missiles in there direction each at separte targets.

The dogfight was intensifying by the minute.

Current total losses are 103 fighters down. There are 296 remaining Mig-21s.

Loud sirens shreaked inside the supercarrier as every bomber emptied out of the hanger. All 400 sped up, they were carrying plasma charges, which would devistate the local area, they were not made for stratigic bombing, but carpet bombing. Soon the streets loomed below, the entire sky seemed dark with the mass. The bomber squadren Alpha-Omega targeted what seemed to be a central church, and dropped charges, each would release super heated plasma on contact.
The other squadrons picked targets and dropped their charges on whatever seemed apropriate.

"LAUNCH!" screamed the radar officer over the din of combat. I count about 120 missiles inbound. Impact in 10 seconds. Wilkins jammed the countermeasures button and the com button, popping several canisters of chafe and launching several flares into the air behind his boat hoping to confuse the incoming missiles, and yelled out "Incoming missiles, all boats launch countermeasures and go evasive." He threw his boat into a hard left turn and launched more countermeasure pods. The ground shook as the missiles impacted with the water where his ship was only moments before. He quickly checked his Tac Screen and saw that of the original 9 boats only 6 remained. He spotted an Aegis Cruiser heading straight towards his position and had an idea. "Turn those Vulcans around and try to pick off any missiles that they fire. "Aye Sir!" came the confirmation. The remaining boats sped towards the AEGIS cruiser, hoping that the on board missiles that it carried could intercept what his miniguns couldnt. "Sir! The missile racks are reloaded. We are ready to fire." The targeting computer acquired a solid lock on the persuing MiGs and fired. While there were 1/3 less ships firing, the thunder of the missiles leaving the rear mounted rack still shook him to his core. "Missiles away sir!"

*Aboard the Pax Magellanic Class Carrier CNS Challenger*

While Commodore Danforth was busy trying to avoid an examination for "hysteria" by a pair of medics that the Challenger's AI had called up, the AI was finishing briefing the ship's first officer, Captain Joe Shoemaker, who had just returned to the bridge from briefing the Search and Rescue pilots who would begin searching for survivors of the air battle shortly. As she completed her briefing however, Shoemaker seemed to notice the AI gazing off at nothing for a moment. "Callie?" He inquired, using the nickname that the crew had given her. Her eyes snapped back to Shoemaker and she began to speak again. "The enemy MiGs are firing missiles at the Rastabastatopian ships, and the assigned cruiser is not fully in position yet. The crusier is, however, firing wide angle defensive explosive missiles now and opening up with all of its AEGIS III systems - but with the increased range, I'm not sure how effective they'll be". Callie's eye focus seemed to shift rapidly as she tried to determine how to increase the chances of survival for the Rastabastatopians.

OCC: Rastabastatopia, I think you should call it on how successful my crusier is.

EDIT: sorry Rastabastatopia, I was typing at the same time you were. Major Divins, finally calming down and seeming slightly less nervous, called out to Rear Admiral Vice with only a fraction of the previous excitement in his voice, "Sir! We have confirmation from the Colonial forces to move in! We're also getting communiques from the ship captians asking what our orders are".

The admiral stood silent for a moment, going over the tactical situation in his head. He drew up and discarded several plans of attack before deciding to go with an old strategy that never quite seemed to be out of place, "Major, I want you to order the other Behemoth carriers to send up 60 Phoenix-N's each (OoC: It's an upgrade on the F-35 JSF), and I want to Yorktown to empty it's bays and send all 70 of its Phoenix-N's into a covering shell over the fleet and...", the admiral paused to take in a deep breath, "I want all of our Valefors in the air providing cover for the rest of the airfleet. Order the rest of the fleet to set sail for the Colonial position and begin arming all weapons, be on the look-out for surprise attacks. Have the Phoenix-N's from the Behemoths split up into three equal forces of 100 planes each, going in at the current dogfight on fourty degree variations of a central attack column."

He looked around again a moment, mostly to study the look on Cleansworth's face, and then continued, "Helm, set a course for the Colonial navy, but tail behind the rest of the fleet a small bit", he then turned to the SONAR officer, "Corporal, I want you to send off constant pings into the area we are currently occupying once we are a mile behind the rest of the fleet".

The admiral looked at Cleansworth's apathetic face once more before he turned back to the front viewport and watched the continuous aircraft launches.

|---------------------------------------------------------------------|

Colonel Frank Davenport of the 2nd ICRC Valefor Squadron was constantly glancing at his HUD, making sure no unexpected threats loomed up, and when he was satisfied that it would be clear flying to their destination, he flicked on his wing-com radio frequency and began to address the fighter craft around him.

"Pilots, this is your commander. We are under orders to move against a large swarm of dog-fighting craft only a 100 miles from here. We are going to split into three equal forces, 100 Phoenix-N's and 4 Valefors each, and perform a Delta-Trident attack at a fourty degree tilt. I know I don't need to tell you boys to fly well, 'cause you're already the best pilots I've ever flown with so I'll leave you guys to do what you do best", Frank said, glancing around the outside of his cockpit's canopy at each jet he could see.

"I also know I don't need to tell you one of the basic rules of friend/foe identification in a dogfight like this, but I will anyway. This is a close thing, so when you get in missile range, only lock onto confirmed and unengaged enemy fighters on the edge of the swarm. From there, you are free to engage at close range, but remember to be wary of friendlies in the area. Now go, and good luck to every last one of you".

With that, Colonel Davenport peeled away from the formation, one third of which followed him closely, to take up his position as the lead fighter in the central attacking column. He glanced again at his HUD to see his squadron mates dancing around the Phoenix-N formation to make sure they achieved maximum anti-missile coverage. Only watching this display of flying prowess for what seemed like a second, he realized it must have been longer as he was only eight seconds from missile range against the enemy fighter cloud.

"Pick your targets wisely guys", he muttered to himself and to the fighters under his command, even though his radio wasn't on. After his fighter passed into missile range, he took but a second to acquire two locks and only a second more to send 3 AIM-9 Sparrow missiles at each of his two targets. A similar display was played out across his portion of the attacking airforce and in the two other pincers of the Delta-Trident formation.

As it stands, my remaining Marauders (6) are breaking for the AEGIS cruiser, and have just launched a 122 missile slavo at the MiGs still in the dogfight. I'll rely on the AEGIS cruiser and my miniguns to take out the MiGs trailing my boats and any missiles they fire. Cellenus is gone for the night I think so we should continue this tomorrow... The Colonial recon force watched in a thouroghly impressed manner as the Siesatian bombers carpet bombed entire areas of the city. They haden't recieved any new orders aside from a "Stay put and continue orbiting the landing zone" from the still active AI of the CNS Pax Magellanic, and then the same thing from the AI of the CNS Challenger, so they were left to stay put and continue orbiting the landing zone. Thier weapons loadouts were mainly air-to-air for this mission anyways, but the pilots still felt the urge to avenge thier fallen comrades by firing on the churches with thier 20mm canons, some of them seriously considered doing it inspite of thier orders - but none of them wanted to go through with disobeying orders, and worse yet, having to face an angry AI for disobeying said orders. So, for the time being, Commander Rolland and the other 31 F-111C Sea Aardvarks with him continued to circle the landing zone, waiting for news of how the air battle out at sea was going.

Benly heard the cries across the shared comm channel in TCR. Shit he thought. This was not going well. The coalition had launched attacks against Cherry Ridge, but the allies of CR were already striking back. 500 MiGs had been put into the air, they had taken a heavy toll on the DC task force. The Rastabastatopian force had also been hit, they were running back to cover.

Benly called up the group comm channel "All forces, put intercept fighters in the air, sea units, cover will be provided with the battle groups."

He called up his task force comm. " I want the Yarrow out there providing cover and intercept. Fortis and Pandora Launch remaining fighters. Put of as big of a fighter screen as we can manage. Keep full rotation moving, we want as many out at a time as possible. The crew will remain on 4 hour sleep cycles. Red Alert around the clock folks, We're not going silent until enemy forces are eliminated."

The remaining fighters launched out of the lower launch bays of the Pandora while the topside pad recieved fighters that needed refueling and reariming. Small flights of fighters were sent out to the other combat groups in the area, they were doing damage assesments and search-and-rescue missions. Blargistanian military was ready to receive and wounded.

As a final act, Benly called up the Blargistania central military HQ, back in Blargistania. He put in a request for reinforcements.

The battle-weary MiG-21 pilots were losing there calmness. There numbers have dropped drastically.

The MiGs that went after the boats were taken by surprise by an onslaught of missiles. All were destroyed.

A fresh force of enemy craft from another very skilled opposing force tore most MiGs apart.

"Group Commander to HQ, over"

"This is HQ, go ahead."

"We have suffered horrible losses, the enemy is fighting with the utmost vengence. And they have many new fresh fighters that just joined in. Our remaining fighters are weary and low on fuel. We are returning home. Over"

"Confirmed, the second MiG-21 wing is fueled, armed, and ready to go. Out"

"Group Commander out"

- - - - -
"Alright boys pull out! We are going home."

The remaining 163 MiG-21s pulled out and went into full afterburner.

The fresh group of the other 500 MiGs have just taken off from home base.

IC: Sitting in his office, President Damien Nightbane, leader of the Principality of Bryn Shander, turned off his television and called his Secretary of Defense into the room. A few minutes later, the man entered.

"Jim, I'm sure that you know why you've been called here" said Nightbane.
"Yes, Sir. The Cherry Ridge conflict on Earth", the man replied.
"Well then, you know the story. A crackpot religious dictator is killing people, and now fighting has broken out between his allies and a group of nations determined to stop him."
"That would seem to be the gist of it, Sir."
"The last thing we need is a fundamentalist regime causing tension and chaos in the region, because it could lead to a major world war. Contact Xiloscient and Darklight. I want the 7th Mobile Fleet launched from Granada to an orbit above Cherry Ridge, and I want the 4th and 5th Terrestrial Wolfpacks deployed to Cherry Ridge waters."
"But Sir, it will take three days for the forces to arrive. Is this really a good idea?"
"Don't argue with me, just do it."

As the secretary turned to leave the office, Nightbane added one more thing.
"Make sure to contact the nations moving on Cherry Ridge and let them know that we're coming.

"Move the Shulte in next to the Dunne and aid in the resupply. Have half of the Marauders form a patrol ring around the fleet and keep the other half in reserve. Radio the DC Command and inform them that reinforcements have arrived. Let them know that in theatre are 36 additional Marauder OPBs and an additional command ship. Inform them that although our command ships are armed they are really not much more than glorified resupply ships for the marauders. Take the damaged Marauder abord and begin repairs. I want 43 fully operational Marauders outfitted with AA armaments by tomorrow morning." Admiral Dawson let out a deep breath. While the RNS Shulte was not much of a fighting ship, the 36 Marauders she brought with her would be more than enough to make up for that. He watched as the Chief Boatswain eased the massive ship in next to its sister ship the Dunne, and noticed for the first time that one of the DC ships had no lights or systems on. He wondered to himself what force could have disabled a ship so large, yet leave it afloat. He pushed those thoughts aside and checked on the patrol line his Marauders had begun to form around the fleet.

We feel that this is a perfectly sound weapon, if you agree to put your fighters down, your pilots will not be harmed. however, attacking an unprotected carrier is brutal, thsi is a flagship, however, there are entire families, women and children on board. Plus the reffugees. The EMP will only affect nearby fighters. You may surrendur to our personel by landing, and proceding to walk to the carreir, your men will then be assigned quarters, and will be brought back to your country, ships and all. We know they will try not to escape, I have your assurences none will be harmed, however, any unauthorised acess to other parts of the ship will result in their termination. however,t hese terms are Negotiable.

OCC: Sorry I was away for most of today. Stupid Real Life... :D

IC: Commander William Rolland of the Colonial Recon Force heard the call from the Siesatians and decided to radio the carriers for instructions on what to do. "Go ahead and land on the Freestar," Challenger's slightly distracted voice instructed him, "we're still trying to sort out where to land everyone now that the Pax Magellanic's out. Besides, your people must be tired and low on fuel by now, so go ahead and land. Remember to extend your appriciation and thanks to the Siesatians, and don't wander out of the areas they've designated you can wander in. Challenger out". Rolland leaned back in his seat as he confirmed with the Freestar where to land.

*Aboard the CNS Challenger*

Callie, the onboard AI of the CNS Challenger, was grateful for the presence of the Rastabastatopian ships as they entered formation around the Colonial Taskforce. The AI of the Pax Magellanic had put herself into suspension mode to preserve the remaining battery power aboard the CNS Pax Magellanic, so Callie was now the senior AI in the task force. Commodre Danforth had come to his senses and stopped pacing around the bridge in a panic, but Callie still would have rather had Rear Admiral Jetal in command. In the last minutes of fighting before the fighters from Cullenus had retreated, Wing Commander Kate O'Dell's force that was flying defense for the taskforce had suffered another 12 losses, leaving her with a force of 128 to command. It felt akward for Callie to have so many foreign fighters flying inside or through the security perimeters of the Colonial taskforce, but she was thankful for them too. The BLARGistanian and Industrial Experiment fighters, as well as the extraordinarily heroic missile launches of the Rastabastatopian Maruaders had proved to be the decisive factor in the battle, and had probably saved the Colonial taskforce from horriffic loses. She would be sure to highlight the assistance of all nations involved to the Colonial Foriegn Affairs Department. The 590 Colonial fighters that were lingering outside of Cherry Rose airspace were now returning, some to find that thier home carrier had been ravaged by enemy missiles, and all of them feeling guilty for not getting back in time for the action.

Callie now turned her attention to the video conference that was going on in one of her auxillery communications rooms. Present via satellite connection was the Secretary of the Navy and the Vice-Director of Colonial Intelligance, as well Captain Castille, still aboard the Pax Magellanic. Commodore Danforth was silent for most of the disscussion, since he probably didn't have anything to add. "This thing is coming to an end anyways," said Captain Castille, pleading his case in a nearly totally dark room. "The Siesatians are bombing Cherry Ridge to hell, as are the BLARGistanians. I recommend we just fire off some Tomahawks, avoid any more losses, and then let the Atticans take the country. CR is finished, so just send up a tow ship for the Pax Magellanic". The Secretary of the Navy agreed. "The Kilmanga have retreated, as has Cullenus. While we'd rather not be too hasty in believing that the area has been cleared, since that's what allowed the Cullenus fighters to do so much damage, we do now believe that the battle is esentially won. Cherry Ridge isn't even putting up a fight, we haven't heard a peep out of them." The Vice-Secretary of Colonial Intelligence nodded his head in agreement. "Alright then. It's been agreed - Commdore Danforth, just stay where you are and repair what you can - the 1st Battlegroup of 4th Fleet will be there in a week or two with a mobile repair and tow ship for the Pax Magellanic. Initiate Tomahawk bombardment of Cherry Ridge, and try to avoid any more losses." Danforth replied with a simple "Yes sir" before the partipants disconnected from the video conference and Callie appeared on the LCD monitor to the Commodore's right. "Should I initiate a class two tomahawk bombardment of Cherry Ridge on the targets Colonial Intellgence sent us?" She asked. Danforth looked deep in thought for a second. "Class two, huh?" He muttered as he scratched his chin. Callie remained silent for a moment on the monitor while Danforth continued to pretend to remember what a class two tomahawk bombardment was. Finally, Callie gave in and began speaking again. "Yes sir, I recommend a class two bombardment. That would be two Tomahawks per target, with four Tomahawks on hard targets like bunkers. With the target list that Colonial Intel gave us, that would mean that we would fire 238 Tomahawk missiles in the inital bombardment, with damage assesment being done through Colonial spy satellites." Commodore Danforth continued to scratch his chin as he authorized the launch. After a few minutes, the sky roared with the launch of tomahawk missiles bound for various targets in Cherry Ridge.
BLARGistania
12-08-2004, 23:24
Solar Wing soared low over Cherry Ridge, cameras whirring. The target had been picked and was now a mere mile away from them. Wing Commander Javrik began to issue orders to his flight.

"Gray Sqaud, bunker buster run, make sure nothing is left of those structures. Blue Squad, go after the tankers, I want all of that fuel destroyed. Green Group, hit the ground-based aircraft, we want to make sure none of those planes get off the ground. Black sqaud, hit the runway, hard. Put lots of holes in it. I want it out of comission for at least the next month. If we're not going to use it, I want to make sure they can't. Grey sqaud, you're with me. We're going after the ATC towers and command posts. Lets get moving people."

The fighters began to veer off on seperate courses over the airfield. A full 50 heavy bombers were part of this run, in addition to the superioirty fighters patrolling the skies above. As the first waves of bombers made their runs, the bay doors opened and bombs began to fall. Five runs, One thousand bombs. All on one air field.

* * *

Back on the seas, Admiral Benly of the Pandora routed his task force over towards the injured DC task force. As his ships sailed into view of the other task force, he lit up is IF/F becons and continued on. His screen showed the considerable damage to the Pax Magellanic as well as the rest of the battle group and the fighters swarming in the air. Benly re-entered orders to keep flights of fighters on full rotations. He opened a comm channel to the CNS Challenger, the current flagship for the Democratic Colonies.

We would like to offer our assitance in repairing the Pax Magellanic. We can provide our own crews in addition to yours, cutting the repair time in half. We can also offer the flight decks of our two carriers for your pilots to land on. We currently have many fighters off on patrol and bombing runs so there is plenty of room until they return. I would like to offer my personal gratitude to your armed forces personnel, they have proved to be of a pivitol role in this conflict. Cherry Ridge is almost finished here. I think, after repairs are complete, we can all go home.

Benly closed the comm channel as his ships began to sail in amongst the Democratic Colonies task force.

OOC: My fighters use a combination of bunker-buster bombs and incinderary weapons to ensure maximun damage.

*Aboard the CNS Challenger*

The transmission from the Admiral Benly of BLARGistania was played for Captain Joe Shoemaker, second in command of the Challenger, as Callie watched from a secondary monitor. "Accept thier offer for repairs, and extend our thanks" ordered Shoemaker. Since Commodore Danforth had gone to sleep and ordered not to be awoken no matter what, Captain Shoemaker was in command for the time being. "Also, decline thier offer to let us use thier flight decks, but say that we're deeply appreciative of that too" Shoemaker continued. Earlier on, Callie had had crunched the to determine if there was infact enough room to determine if there was enough hanger and flightdeck space to land everyone on a functioning carrier, and concluded that they had 718 spots for the 766 fighters that were returning. While there wouldn't actually be enough space for all the fighters to land at once, having no fighters in the air to protect the task force was unacceptable anyways. Using a modified patrol schedule, it was agreed that the situation was acceptable, although Commander William Rolland's Colonial Recon Force was not factored into the equations since they were already aboard the Siesatian ship Freestar, and everyone assumed that the fighting would be over soon anyways, so it was acceptable if they had to land on the Pax Magellanic's flight deck. The Pax Magellanic's flightdeck was now clear of debris, so landings could take place on it, but there was no power for the launchers to relaunch any Colonial fighter that landed on it.

The flight deck of the Freestar....
Syphera walked onto the deck where the humans had landed their craft. Actually, she hadn't walked on, but a hologram had. Guised in human appearence, she walked forward, painfully awhare of the slight shimmering the underpowered projectors gave her.
The nanites had begun to take affect on the damaged fighters, as holes and scrapes had begun to close up on the DC fighters.
She walked over to what seemed to be the highest ranked officer there.
"It seems that we have left Cherry Ridge in ruins." she said, as her hologram shimmered again."However, we are painfully low on power, our generators were busy powering our shields at 182 % and then the EMP took what little was left, We will be here for another few hours, We also understand that your carriers are damaged, we will ferry you to your nearest military base, and before you refuse, we should tell you that it will be no trouble at all." she smiled at the person. "Dinner will be served at 6:30 CR time, thats an hour from now, and we must insist that you all attend, as the bombers will be landing then. Just to let you know, all churches and relegious temples have been incinerated, all bridges, airports, missle sites, military bases, and naval bases have also been detroyed, with low civilian loss. I believe this is over, we should let the ground forces of the second wave take control."

*Aboard the Siesatian ship Freestar*

Commander William Rolland stood in awe of the holographic woman that stood infront of him. Damn, he thought, these Siesatians really are a high tech people. He began to study her in detail, as he was amazed by the technology involved to create such a precise, lifesized holographic image. She seemed to shimmer as stared at her, admiring the detailing of her hair. The possibilities with this are endless, he continued to think to himself, I can imagine what the AIs back at the taskforce would do to get this kind of technology... He was startled out of his wonderment though, when his second in command gave a polite cough. The hologram was begining to look at him strangely, so he figured he had better say something soon. "We...Ah... Thank you. Thank you very much for the most kind welcome you've given us, and the offer of transportation. We'll all be sure to report for dinner ontime, as I'm sure we'll enjoy it. On behalf of the Colonial government, I would like to extend my most...ah... heartfelt appriciations to the Freestar and to Siesatia". The hologram gave a polite nod, and exited the deck. He watched her go, and debated whether he would describe her to those back at the taskforce as a "technological marvel" first, or a "wonder of technology". "Not bad Commander," he heard his first officer call out from behind him. "Not only have you weirded out a holographic woman that represented a country that could destroy the Democratic Colonies easily, but you also starred at her ass while she exited". "Shaddup Johnny" Rollands said to his first officer as he took off his flight helmet. "Yeah, shut up Johnny," said another member of the Rolland's squadren, "I think the Commander did a great job of handling that explosively charged diplomatic situation. I mean, he didn't make up any new words, he didn't get spit on the other person's face, and he didn't tell a dirty joke that -" "Hey!" interupted Commander Rollands, "I'm never going to live down that incident with the Narzillion Liason officer, am I?" he sighed. "No sir, no you're not" said his first officer. "ah, don't worry about it Commander," said another of his pilots, "I'm sure Callie would be proud of the way you almost-nearly but kinda didn't sorta screw that up in a horrificallish manner". Rollands punched the pilot on the shoulder, and they settled in on the, to them, extremely advanced ship Freestar for the time being.

OCC: I must admit that I'm fascinated by what's up with the hologram, so I'll just ask. What's up with the hologram? :D

EDIT OCC: And no, Rollands was not actually staring at your hologram's.... "ass" as she left. His first officer just made that up to bug him, as he seemed to be so impressed by her.

FYI- The hologram is shimmering because of the low power on the ship. And also, it can not be touched of felt, if you were to try to touch it (I know how that sounds LMAO) your hand would go through it. It is just an artificially created image. Also, I believe that if your officer saw our species real form, he would lose interest. Not that its gross or anything, just much diferent.

I see. IC though, while Rollands did think the holographic form Syphera took was attractive, he was mainly mesmerized by the technology of it, which was much more advanced than the stuff he's used to. I thought it would be appropiate to insert some amazement into a situation when a relatively modern-tech RP character sees something that, for the most part, mainly exists in future-tech RPs.

And to further explain why I wrote all that stuff about Rolland earlier, I figured that my pilots should be either freaked out by some super high-tech thing on your future-tech ship, or just absolutely amazed by it. While I did toy with the idea of having Rolland kinda freak out at seeing Syphera's holographic projection, I ended up going with amazement instead.

And just out of curiosity, what do your people look like? Now that you've made that comment about them looking much different from humans, you've sparked my imagination.

HERES A LITTLE HSITORY LESSON
The origional Siesatians were human, they were not proficiently advanced in anything, except the science of genetics. The president then decide to use that technology to recreate an intelligent creature that had died out long ago, and use them as slave labor. They aquired the neccissary DNA from fossils and succeded in reestablishing an extinct creature. However, they realised that the Utahraptor was too fierce and unintelligent to use as slave labor, and destroyed them. However, a rouge group of scientists decided to try again, this time, tweaking the genes that controlled brain growth. This time they created creatures smarter than they were, which presented an even greater problem. The lab scientists realised that they responded to speach, and could learn extrememly advanced tasks very quickely, but thy were too smart, and escaped to the nearby jungle. All 823. Over the next 100 years they built a socioty, one that rivaled the Siesatians in technological prowess and intelligence, until war broke out, the siesatians were destroyed, and the entire population took over the land, taking the name of their creators. However, nations saw the great threat of these new creatures, and drove them from the earth, and to the moon, where we have stayed.
We have a tendancy to become agrivated by those who state their opinion that we died out long ago, as we are not the creatures that roamed earth 165 million years ago. No matter how similar we are in body. They also develop new technologies to make up for the prehistoric bodies, one of the reasons they survived so long. No they do not eat only meat, the creating scientists quickely discovered that they were omnivoric by nature. humans had a tendancy to be scared of us, so we developed holographic systems to aid in diplomacy. A tendancy towards being vain, they would have chosen what they believed to be a good apearence for their holographic projection.

"The recent conflict over in Cherry Ridge has been lossed. However along with the battle we have also lossed many of our MiG-21s. Capt Urdanu spread a large map of the Cherry Ridge area out on the oak table. He moved his fingers across the map and at various points marked it with red ink. Lt Behtr Danmoss stood by examining closely.

"These are the locations that the air battles were fought over. Send 10 ARS ships to salvage the migs. Also in the case of any hostilities arising we will need to send protection. One Curtis Fabus class battleship will be sent flying the white flag to show of our peaceful intentions. Also send a flight of 6 F-16s for air support."

Lt Demoss snapped to attention, "Yes sir!" and walked out of the office.
