Located on the scenic island of Mortic, Jangle Jangle ridge has now built a large military base, along with a rich uranium mine. All leaders of nations, industries, and military units interested will be allowed to visit and take a look at up and coming projects at our exposition.

OOC: So you know, this is the RP I had a thread on earlier. I changed everything around. This is going to be the thread. So you know, the thread isn't just going to be something boring. Don't send someone you aren't willing to have killed. Some spies, etc, might try to sneak into the exposition or the mines, or maybe into the lower portions of the the base.

The Evil Empire of Akaton will send its vampire vice president, Count Yuri (it doesn't really matter if he dies, he's undead already). Also, a scientist who has no name tag will come as well.

OOC: Ths sounds cool. If I don't post in this RP again, it's because I can't find it.

OOC: The dying part was an OOC note. So you know. It'll be a roleplay, starting off showing people weapons, then bad things start happening. I won't give it away, but just note that they'll get attacked, etc.

We will accept you gladly.

OOC: Heh, I have a nasty trick to play on the groups. Also, you can Roleplay spies trying to infiltrate the mine or the lower levels of the base. If you do, it'll completely change the storyline. I have it set up for both.

Unfortunately, my original team of two inspectors and an armed guard has been changed to one Inspector with one Guard and a Volunteer. We would prefer not to disclose anything about the volunteer, but the Inspector will be unarmed, and the Guard will be issued with a sidearm of a Desert Eagle. The Volunteer has not told us what he was bringing with him, and we will not disclose any of his qualifications. Needless to say, we trust him more than the rest of the team.

We will send the team post haste. We would prefer if they can arrive by plane. Does the island have a landing strip? If not, we can send them by boat, but it will take a little longer.

OOC: 1 RL day by plane, 2 for Boat.

Ximea will be sending General Rupert Drake (XMC) and two guards. Drake carries a S&W 500 revolver. (Of course it's an impractical weapon, but he carries it for purely ceremonial purposes.)
The two guards, Mr. Black and Mr. Frost, both carry FN Five-seveN pistols and P-90 submachine guns. They also carry extra ammunition for General Drake's revolver.

He loads them with specialized (and expensive) mercury-tipped rounds. (Of course it's an impractical weapon, but he carries it for purely ceremonial purposes.)
The two guards, Mr. Black and Mr. Frost, both carry FN Five-seveN pistols and P-90 submachine guns. They also carry AN-M14 TH3 grenades and extra ammunition for General Drake's revolver.
OOC: They'll be stopped on the way in because of the grenades, so you know. And the mercury-tipped bullets would likely be confiscated too. Also, mercury seeps through almost anything.
Ximea
03-08-2004, 05:42
OOC: Fair enough. Actually, I know about the difficulties involved in producing mercury-tipped bullets (the mercury tends to combine with the lead and seep out). However, I'd been led to believe that they were possible with currently-existing technology. I could be wrong (but in a game where people are building kilometer-long trimaran battleships, practicality becomes...flexible).
That said, since the RP hasn't started yet, I'm going to go ahead and edit my "guests'" loadout.

OOC: Is there any way to prevent the death of these people?
Akaton
03-08-2004, 06:38
The representatives of Akaton will be arriving shortly. As far as weapons go, the annonymous henchman is unarmed, though skilled with a rifle or pistol. However, Count Yuri (the vampire) has several wepaons. He openly carries a ceremonial phase-sword. Though it is ceremonial, it is a very effective weapon in close combat, as it passes through standard body armor. Count Yuri also carries a pair of concealed automatic pistols with several clips of ammo.

Some special considerations for Count Yuri being a vampire may be needed. He must wear a full length cape and hood while going outside during the day, as light is very harmful to him. We also request that there be no stakes, crosses, or holy water present, as they are extremely dangerous to the Count.

OOC: Ugh, I'm so sorry. I got woken up at 4 pm today, and my clock wasn't set. I know, I slept that long, sickening. I'm starting now.
IC: Standing patiently on the island, at the end of the landing strip, is Tarenteor, green haired(it's natural :D) national leader of Jangle Jangle Ridge, with a small mousy technician. As Count Yuri walks from his plane, Tarenteor flashes a smile at the count and waves. "This is Technician Gerald Brunsford, just call him Gary. He'll lead you to the waiting room, which has a small specially-darkened nook in it, for your convenience. If you would wait there while the other guests arrive, I will be there shortly." As each new person arrives, he repeats the process, with a different technician, and mentioning different refreshments and special services they have while they wait. It's seems he's done his research...

Speaking with an absurdly heavy Transylvanian accent, Count Yuri says "I thank you for your hospitality. It gets harder and harder to find a place that welcomes a vampire such as myself." Inside, the Count enjoys some refreshments and relaxes in the darkened area of the room. His annonymous henchman waits nearby. The henchman is worried, seeing the hungry way Count Yuri watches him. He never had been very comfortable around vampires, and this didn't help matters.

OOC: Given that this annonymous henchman is well, you know.. annonymous, he may die suddenly and without warning. Don't get too attatched to him. :(

IC: A stewardess walks into the lobby from one of the many doors on the other side, and walks up to the darkened area, squinting to see inside it. "Would you like anything, sir? We can bring you any refreshments you desire. We want to make you comfortable while you wait," as the stewardess shivers, but actually due to the cold. She looks the the side, "One moment please," as she walks over to the thermostat and turns it up a few degrees. She walks back over and smiles at the Count Yuri, waiting for a request.

Akaton
04-08-2004, 01:11
"Hmm," Count Yuri said, "You haven't had much experience with my kind have you, Miss. Most of the vampires in Akaton tend to prefer human blood. My personal preference is O+, though it is not a requirement. Don't worry though, I am no barbarian, I don't intend to drink your blood."

Suddenly, the annonymous henchman knew why he had brought along. He had no experience with military bases, but his blood was O+. Barely able to contain his fright, he slowly edged towards the door...
Jangle Jangle Ridge
04-08-2004, 01:19
The stewardess paled further at the mention of the human blood, and almost felt like screaming at the mention of O+, her own bloodtype, then sighed as he reached the conclusion. "Well, I can't really bring anyone. I was told you would just like this, wine stuff. I'm very sorry." Just make sure that anonnymous fellow I brought along doesn't get too far. He seems to have overheard our conversation and is escaping. Sorry if I frightened you, vampires have certain unusual dietary needs that tend to scare those not used to it."

OOC: If you wanted Count Yuri to drink the stewardess's blood, you'll have to wait, the Count doesn't want to wear out his welcome by randomly consuming the citizens of Jangle Jangle Ridge. Eventually, perhaps, he will do some more vampiric things.

President Mooty will be attending if you allow it. He will, however, be heavily armed seeing as how bad things usually happen when you're involved, and escorted by two SpecOps Personnel.

President Mooty will be carrying his two .45 ACP pistols, an M14, and two MP5 SMGs. He will also be bringing heavier weapons, such as an M249 SAW and a crate of M16s equipped with M203 grenade launchers.

His two personal security officers will each be carrying 9mm sidearms and a OICW/w grenade launcher.

As soon as they walk in, a new stewardess greets him, "Would you like anything to eat or drink while you wait for the others to join us?"

The stewardess jumped as a pale, slightly clawed hand darted from the darkness to seize the drink. The Count laughed cruely at the stewardess. One would think she wouldn't be so frightened by now, but who can blame her.

"Thank you miss. I meant to remind you earlier, but I would prefer that my 'friend' be returned unharmed, if it isn't too difficult. Yummy, this wine is quite good, I'll want to discus with... Tarenteor about where he gets this stuff."

OOC: Tarenteor is a rather interesting name, is he a demon or something?

OOC: Yep, demon. And the friend is still there, I just have gaurds on each side of the darkened area to make sure he stays.
IC: The stewardess smiles slightly as she walks out of the area, backwards, in a way calmed by the quick snatch, taking it as good humor, "He's currently outside, greeting the visitors. He'll be in soon. Just call me if you need anything else." The stewardess moves to one of the doors and walks out of the room.

He was bit stessed out by the near-escape of his future meal err I mean "friend", and you wouldn't want Mooty's guards to get their blood drained from them.

IC: Count Yuri wathched as Alexandr walked into the lobby. Ammused by the way the bodyguards stared into the darkness, trying to see him. As Alaxandr took his seat, Count Yuri spoke in his distinctive accent. "Nice to see a new face around here, I had been getting rather lonely. You really ought to try the wine here, it is magnificent." The bodyguards, startled by the unseen Count, jumped to protect Alexandr. " No need to worry my friends, just a little small talk. Taren smiled at Mooty, "Isn't that the worst question I've ever heard! Of course! But why do you need a whole crate of weapons?" Taren grimaces for a second at the grenade launchers, "You can't bring the grenades and launchers in though. Too possible for them to just explode. I trust you, but I still can't run the risk. This is one of our most important military bases. A grenade in the wrong place could be devastating. Anyway, you wouldn't need a grenade in a combat situation down there. A flamethrower and a pistol would do a trick in the tight halls, but not a grenade. It'd get bounced back."

A modified UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter landed at the airfield and three men stepped out. To the irritation of the second and third men, the first person on the tarmac was General Rupert Drake, a tall, balding, well-muscled man in a sharp-looking navy-blue Marine uniform. He had the irrepressable grin of a rascal and a face which called memories of George C. Scott to mind. A ridiculously oversized revolver hung at his right hip; a naval dirk hung at the other.
His bodyguards, Mr. Black and Mr. Frost, were nearly identical: clean-shaven men in funeral-black suits and reflective sunglasses. Their sidearms were concealed in black leather holsters and P-90 submachine guns (refinished in black, of course) were slung on their backs. Upon exiting the helicopter, they moved automatically to protect the general's flanks.
Tarenteor was absent; in his place was a nondescript-looking technician. "Welcome to Mortic," he said. "I'm Technician Stiles. Tarenteor is currently entertaining the other guests. Let me escort you to the waiting room. An arrangement of fine spirits has been set up for you."
"You're a good guy, Stiles," Drake said, laughing. He clapped a meaty hand forcefully on the technician's shoulder. "Let's get going. Wouldn't want to keep the Big Man waiting."

And everyone has rifles or pistols with lights on them. Most of the rooms have backup lighting. If anything attacks us, it'll get ripped to shreds. I've been known for my defenses, haven't I? If it makes you feel better, I'll bring this," Taren walks over to the wall and slams his fist on a small symbol of a skull on the wall and it pushes back and slides up, revealing a retina scanner. He sets his eyes in front of it, and it, too, slides back, to reveal a thumb scanner. This also slides away, revealing a small speakerphone, "All your base are belong to us." The speaker beeps, and the panels slide back to the skull. A rack of weapons slides out, and Taren picks one of them out. It seems to be a large, heavy rifle, with a sight on the side, near the top, and big, triangular chunk sticking out. Taren flips the top of the triangle forward, revealing a small, thick foot long missile, with a line of the same under it, about 10, all told, though there could be more in the rifle. Taren picks up a few more of these triangles, seperated from rifles, from the rack, and hides them in his coat. He pulls out multiple coils of ammunition, obviously to be set into the bottom box on the rifle, and hides them in his cloak. Reaching down, he also pulls out 8 clips of pistol ammo, for which he presumable already has something to load into. "Feel better now?" Taren hoists the rifle onto his shoulder and kicks the rack, it sliding closed.

You should look in my mouth after someone's made me mad. You might find pieces of them." Taren stepped into the lobby and smiled at the room, "Hello, and welcome. As you guys may know, this is the newest military base of Jangle Jangle Ridge. Next door we have a uranium mine, which provides us with fuel for our power, and is an important ingredient in some of our more... important projects. Stay with me, and we'll be on our way." Taren waved his arms, and he walked to a set of double doors at the end of the lobby, with a large "Restricted Area-Employees only. And yes, that means you!" sign over it. He strides towards it and pushes open the doors, continuing to walk. After a few minutes, he arrives at the first door, and walks into it. Waving everyone inside, Taren waves over a technician who begins talking about nuclear power and reactors. Some of the huge powerplants stand in the room, roaring as the lithium rods carefully moved up and down. The process continued, going from room to room, from target-ranges to railgun testing facilities, to a small room, where small grenades were tossed, one at a time, into an ajoined, clear room. Most of the grenades simply crumbled, or exploded, until the last one was tossed. The grenade landed, and with an audible cracking noise, the grenade crumbled on itself, as a chair set on the other side of the room was pulled through the air and into the area where the grenade was, and it dissapeared. The roar died out after around ten seconds, and the group moved on, to an elevator...

Wish we could get him on our baseball team--we'd wipe the floor with those Air Force pukes every time!"
Frost said nothing. His sunglasses hid the fact that he was slightly on edge from the impromptu ordnance demonstration. That explosion was too close for comfort, as far as he was concerned. It only bothered him more that his charge, seemingly unaware of the danger from wayward shrapnel, was absolutely pleased as punch.
"Say, these little Scotches are really something," Drake said, holding out two of the small bottles of liquor provided to him. "You guys ought to try some."

He walked away before either guard could answer.

The tour began before Drake could find the Count. Drake shrugged and went with the crowd.

We take a dense substance, and set a core of high-explosive in it. If successful, the substance cracks and collapses in on itself. The mass of the substance is so great it creates a black hole. Interested? One thing to note though, is that it has to be used in a low to no gravity situation. Otherwise, it'll drop like a rock. Our next idea is to strap small jets to them, to propel them."

[IC]: Marenus looked out the window at the island. It looked so beautiful from here, the water around it a light blue, reflecting the sunlight, the island itself looking lush and....perfect. To believe somewhere like this would hold a base was startling to him. He couldn't make out any base from this distance, but he was assured by his bodyguard that it was there unless maybe the thing had sprouted arms and legs and swam off.

Marenus looked over at his bodyguard, Danit, and sarcastically said 'Oh, ha ha. Very funny.' Marenus had never really gotten on that well with Danit since he had met him this morning as he was about to board his plane to the island, the same time he had met the volunteer for the mission.

There was another mystery. The volunteer. They had been told that the second bodyguard had taken ill, and so this volunteer, who had been trying to get onto the mission since it was first announced, was used to replace him. Neither of them knew anything about the bodyguard, since they had been told nothing about him, and he had spent the entire flight sitting, eyes closed, saying nothing. A few times Marenus had wondered if he was even alive, and once had even went to put his hand over to the man's face to check for a pulse, but before it had gotten within half a foot of him, the man had simply grabbed Marenus's hand, eyes still closed. He had slowly released his grip after a few seconds, his point apparently made.

One thing neither Danit nor Marenus coud figure out was how the volunteer had gotten approval for the mission. The only knew that he was serving in the armed forces of Rinceweed after seeing him salute the General seeing them off on this trip.

Suddenly, the pilot's voice, tinny over the speakers set in the small plane, said 'This is it. Fasten your safety belts and prepare for landing'.

About 5 minutes later, Marenus, Danit, and the Volunteer were climbing out of the plane, ready to be led to the tour.

Unfortunately, the thing it was about to hit was Marenus, who was flung to the ground by Danit. Unfortunately, the thing hit Danit instead, one of the scythes buried into his left shoulder.

Danit screamed in pain as the thing started biting at his arm, only for it to be hit by a hail of fire from the Volunteer's MP7, but the thing still doggedly held on, with Danit's arm now full of bullet holes too.

Marenus, out of the corner of his eye, could see the various other representatives doing a mix of screaming and readying weaponry, and put his hands over his head, trying to make himself as small a target as possible for the thing and for anyone else shooting it.

The Volunteer ducked under the arc of the tail as the still hurtled towards him, before burying itself in the far wall. Alexia searched her pockets for the radio and finaly pulled it out. She screamed into it "Mercy this is Fox, we are under attack inside the complex!" The message she got a message back from the DRN Mercy was unbelieveable.'
"We know Fox, the island is crawling with unindentified hostiles, we are unable to send a marine detachment for now. We are figuring out a plan to get you out of there, Mercy out." Alexia grabbed Vladimir's sidearm and together with her the m16's from her bodyguards began firing at the worm creatures slittering towards them.

IC: "Looks like the tail's more or less gone," Frost said. "Concentrate your fire on the arms and legs! Let's immobilize this bastard if we can't kill it!" The two guards and the General did exactly that, aiming particularly for the joints connecting the limbs to the creature's swollen, gargantuan body. These joints were large enough to make good targets, but small enough that the gunfire might just hurt them.

He could hear the radio transmission from his hiding position, and started to panic as his brain filtered through to him what is was saying. They were alone down here, with these creatures everywhere. How could they stand a chance? They were pretty much doomed.....

He shot the large creature in the "knee" multiple times until it fell down on that side. He then proceeded to take out each leg individually with the help of the others.

when he had shot about 80 rounds at the creature, he jumped, ducked, and rolled over to Alexia and asked her for the radio.

The Volunteer crawled over to Danit, trying to stay away from the hail of murderous fire being directed at the creature. His heart dropped as he got to Danit. He was already dead. The wounds had been too much, the bleeding had finally gotten to him. He quickly stripped him of his unfired Desert Eagle, along with a pouch of extra clips for it, and crawled over to Danit who was hiding behind one of the tables.

"Here," said the Volunteer, handing the gun and ammo to Marenus, "you'll need this. We need as much firepower as we can get right now. You know how to use it?" Marenus nodded. "Good. Now, open fire on that thing!"

The creature shuddered as it fell, it's tail melting away, as bullets chip away the carapace, before ripping into the flesh. Green, acidic blood exploded from the back of the creature, along with more of the larvae worms, attempting to attach themselves to anything they can get at. If they attach, they would sink fangs full of assimilating bacteria into the system, along with large amounts of uranium. The body would become a mass of putrid cells, fresh for the harvesting, within hours.

The Volunteer was already charging up another shot from his weapon, this time holding it down for 20 seconds, rather than the 5 seconds of last time. From the central door, a thick, foot-long rocket rips through the window and into the elevator shaft, exploding and collapsing it. Taren strides through the door, with three rifles strapped to his back, a RPG launcher on one shoulder, and heavy machine gun on his other. Taren lets the rifle swing back down to his back, "Need some help?" Taren quickly tosses the guns across the room, leaving himself, seemingly, armless. He pulls out two pistols, with extended clips. Automatic Glocks, by the look of them. He raises one and shoots along the length of the shaft, ripping it pieces, and dropping three of the smaller creatures from the shaft.

Once they were trained, they would be smart. We would give them targets to assimilate and grow with, and our technology would give them longer life, etc. Also, we would have thier alliance with use, but not slavery to us, imbred. They have thier own forms of intercourse, but it works better for them to simply assimilate. The bacteria is, mixed with uranium. After the first bite, more worms carefully monitor and inject material into the flesh. Different amounts yield different effects. They can't get off the island, as yet. The would drown, and they have not, as yet, learned how to create flying forms. That would take them months without our help. The geiger counters would be no use, since we're right NEXT to a uranium mine, and in a facility run by nuclear reactors. We'll need to fight our way to the service elevator. But it would be easy... we'll have to fight almost all of them..."

OOC: I thought you'd say that about the Geiger counters. Nuclear reactors are heavily shielded. Typically, less radiation gets through that shielding than the amount produced by a microwave oven. I don't know about the mines, but I would hope that they would have similar precautions...unless you want the staff at your military base suddenly dying of cancer...;) Nevertheless, I shall accept your explanation. The creatures' activity could have breached certain systems like secondary cooling lines, which would carry enough residual radiation to render the counters useless.

IC: "And how many are there?" Frost asked. "You said it takes hours for them to assimilate a host, so I assume the only ones around right now are the ones created and accounted for in your labs. Do you know the tally? How many were made?"

All they have to do is cut the target somehow and throw it into the chemical bile we used to make the originals. There were originally 1,000 of the creatures made, but I'm SURE they've made more. As Taren nears the end of the corridor, one of the small creatures jump at him, as Taren goes into a flurry, his jaws seeming to lengthen, clamping around the creature's head, his sharpened "claws" jutting in and out of the chest of the alien, gouging out the entirety of the carapace, before thrashing his head and ripping it from the demon. OOC Summary: We went on a tour of the upper levels. Saw some fancy stuff, including a gravity grenade. Then we went down an elevator to a lounge room for some snacks.
All hell broke loose. We were attacked by large, insect-like creatures the size of dogs, slithering, wormlike things with fangs, and a big freaking insect with heavy armor and a razor-sharp tail.
We escaped, but the elevator was destroyed and we are are stranded on the lower levels. We must make our way to the service elevator.

The creatures themselves are a product of bio-weapons research involving uranium. The creatures' saliva (and blood, I assume) contains a bacteria which is able to alter foreign tissue, so if a person is killed or bitten, that person's body mass will eventually convert to a monster or monsters.

Our host, Tarentheor, is a demon, and partly responsible for the creation of these creatures, but he seems to be on our side. He handed out a bunch of melee weapons, at any rate. There's also a vampire, as I said, but he's got some major catching up to do. ;)

OOC: We can pull it off as you were just late arrivers, and came in with the rest, but managed not to be attacked. That would be sketchy at best, but would work. The creatures are all over the island anyway, so...
IC: Taren looked ahead into the darkness at the creature, using his keen eyes to pick it out, "It looks like a larger dog-thing with pods on its back and a scythe-tail." As he spoke, one of the pods on the back opened and shower of crystalline needles puffed out of the creature and rained towards the group. Taren pulled a glaive from his trenchcoat as a faint shimmer outlined a much larger glaive, unthrowable, but good for melee, as iquid poured into the shimmering outline, the liquid turning to plasma as it hit the outline. Spinning the glaive, Taren used it as a shield against the needles, advancing slowly on the creature. The dog-sized creature turned, and growled, swinging its tail at the glaive, slicing the handle in two with ease. Swinging up his glock, Taren sent six bullets straight into the creature, one for each pod. With a squelching noise, the pods erupted internally, the small pieces sticking from the sides as the creature still quivered, trying to move, still immobilized on its feet as green blood dripped from the beast. A shot to the head finished it off.

Reeve sat in his room looking at several pictures he had recieved from the one of the stewerdess in the compound. The photographs along with a magazine had gone into great detail the several weapons that were to be shown. Trej and Silk had hoped that they would be able to see these weapons soon enough. They were quite disappointed when Reeve had decided to look at the weapons later so as not to disturb the other guests. After all, Silk was a holy man and carried around a cross wherever he went. After Reeve had discovered that a vampire was present he had decided to wait until later out of courtesey. This came as a disappointment to Reeve as well considering his practice in the dark arts. The chance to examine a real vampire was not very likely in this day and age. A pity he would pass it up.

Suddenly the lights went out in the room followed by a low hum and a switch that brought up the dim red back ups. Trej reached for his automatic, but was stopped short by Reeve.

"A power outage I'm sure. It's probably nothing."

Suddenly a loud scream was heard coming from down the hall. This time Silk reached for his weapon and Trej could not help but ready his. Silk crossed his chest and silently uttered a prayer before approaching the door.

"What do you think it is?" Silk asked his commander. "I don't know. Silk go check it out and report back. If you're not back in five we'll go find you."

Before Silk could even open the door it burst open from the sheer impact of a hidious creature about the size of a wolf. It looked like an insect pulled out of a horror flick ready to devour all in it's sight. Silk would not offer the beast that oppertunity. With the pull of the trigger a single round burst through the muzzle of his shotgun and caved through the skull of the creature. With a slight moan the beast fell to the ground in a pool of it's own blood.

"Well this is an interesting specimen." Reeve said with a delight smile as he kneeled down beside it. "I'd love to take a sample. Silk get me my..."

"Sir..." Trej said cutting off his boss with a tone of fear in his voice. "I don't think we've got the time for that."

Reeve stood up and looked out the door to find hundreds of smaller sized creatures coming there way.

"Oh dear..."

Before the corporate playboy could say another word Trej and Silk hustled him out the door and began the long sprint in the other direction. Hopefuly they would find help and then a way out of this mess.

Count Yuri ducked behind some rubble while he reloaded his pistols, his cape swirling behind him. Finally, he thought to himself, a little excitement. He hadn't come all this way just to sit around menacing those around him. Jumping out, he shot another monster about to jump on Taren.

"Christ, they've learned to fly!" Drake said, swinging his axe wildly through the air.
Frost put up a staying hand. "Wait...those are bats."
Sure enough, the bats materialized into Count Yuri. "Thank God for that," Drake said. It was getting hard to hear with the increasing gunfire. "Yuri!" he called, as the vampire took down several creatures with his pistols. "You're immortal, right?"
"For the most part, yes," the vampire said.
"Then you're our point man." Drake was used to giving orders, obviously.
One of the creatures evaded Yuri's hailstorm of bullets and lunged toward the General. He sidestepped, slicing its tail off with the hand-axe, then planting the weapon in the creature's head. The creature quivered, squealed, and fell to the ground twitching.
"Oh, crap," the General said. "Taren! What happens if a vampire gets infected?"

OOC: It's rather unlikely that much would happen if he gets infected. Count Yuri has been dead for over three centuries. Having been shot, burned, poisoned, and slashed dozens of times, there is very little of him left that would grow anything if it was exposed to a mutagenic chemical. He is evil incarnate, and all that keeps him from turning to dust is his dark, supernatural power.

For the record, the Count behaves exactly like vampires in horror movies. He can see in the dark, turn into a swarm of bats (not very useful in an underground base), he is unharmed by most weapons, and obviously he can drink the blood of the living. However, if he gets staked through the heart (or in this case impaled by a big clawed insect), he will die permanently. Contact with direct sunlight will cause him extreme pain. He won't get near garlic, crosses or holy water.

IC: Hearing Drake's 'order' Count Yuri darted forwards, his supernatural senses picking out the insectoid swarm even in these darkened conditions. Shooting them one by one, Count yuri shouted to the others, "I don't have enough ammo to kill them all you know! They are massing about 40 meters ahead for another attack, requesting backup!"

OOC: I may not be back for about four or five hours, so if necessary Jangle Jangle Ridge can control Count Yuri until I return. I don't mind if he loses an arm or something, but he shouldn't die. The government of Akaton has no one to replace the Count, so it would be best if he survives.

Reeve and his two bodyguards had made a run to the nearest exit hoping to run into a few guards a long the way. Although they had run into several guards, none of them were exactly useful. In fact, some of them had twisted into hidious beasts. Something very strange was going on here, and as interested as Reeve was in the matter he had no intentions of staying here long.

Trej had paved the way towards the exit while Silk covered the rear making sure to terminate anything that moved, even if it looked human. There mission was to protect Reeve even if it meant their own lives and that was what they would do. Failure was not an option in this matter.

The elite bodyguards had finally gotten to an elevator shaft that served as a method to the top floor. Trej was a bit reluctent to go up the shaft, but Silk argued that it could've been the only means out for a while.

"We've not run into any of these beasts for at least five minutes. Perhaps they've pulled back and retreated towards the weaker guests." Silk claimed. "We can not risk our master's health. We must take the shaft."

"Our master's health is exactly why we can not take the shaft." Trej argued hoping for another way. He still had high hopes that someone in this complex was alive, but at the moment that had proven false.

"We're taking the elevator." Reeve said stepping in between his two combatants. We will not be harmed, I'm sure of it."

Slightly hesitent Trej stepped back and sighed. If this was the will of Reeve then it was his will as well. Perhaps the elevator wasn't such a bad idea after all.

"Let's go." Silk said as the door opened and the three men stepped inside eager to escape this death trap. The doors shut, and then suddenly the lights in the elevator went out...

(I'm going to have the elevator crash and we're going to come across Yuri and the others. The undead as a combined force should prove as a useful effective force :))

Drake tugged at his hand-axe, but it was stuck fast in the head of the creature he'd just killed.
Count Yuri said something about the creatures massing up for another attack. "Taren, we could use your rockets up there," Drake said. "Black, Frost, Mooty, you three form behind him." Yuri thought about telling Drake not to order foreign dignitaries around, but it seemed like sound advice right now.
Black and Frost advanced toward Count Yuri's position. Their P90s chopped away at the growing swarm of giant arthropoda, but they didn't have enough ammunition to continue indefinitely. "Empty!" Black shouted, popping off his magazine. Frost and Yuri closed in, covering him while he reloaded.
A crashing sound of twisting metal echoed from behind the group. "Good God, that sounds big," Drake said. "Black, Frost, Mooty, keep the little ones off us. Jant, help me with this big one."
Near the rear of the corridor, back by the snack room, a lumbering form came into view--a giant, segmented creature similar to the one which had attacked them before. In the tunnel, it couldn't bring its tail to bear on them, but it made up for that with a pair of ragged, crablike claws large enough to cut a man in half. Interspersed among its six, dead-black, golfball-sized eyes, a handfull of pucker-like depressions pocked its face.
General Drake fired the last two rounds in his cylinder. In the corridor, the roar was actually painful. The bullets buried themselves in the creature's head, caving in a portion the size of a melon. Greenish ichor and bits of chitin puddled on the floor, thick as molasses.
The creature emitted a high, piercing squeal. It lowered its damaged head and sprayed a sputtering mist of yellowish fluid in the direction of the survivors. Most of the mist fell short, as Drake and the others were still a good fifty meters away from it. As the mist hit the floor, it began to sizzle and produce an acrid smoke.
"That thing just shot acid at us!" Drake shouted. His ears still hurt from the report of his pistol. "I need more ammo!"

OOC: I also doubt that a vamp could get infected and mutate. His leg would probably fall off from infection, but without a beating heart, how would the poison be proliferated through the blood-stream. Much the same goes for Taren, as his blood can have the exact same effect of changing things with HIS blood.
IC: Taren raised his arms as six bullets ripped through the air or the shotgun-wielder's shoulders, thudding into the carapace and... exploding? Firing a few more shots to cover his retreat, the Count darted back to the others. "There are too many of them! We must get into a more deffensible location." Turning to Taren, Count Yuri shouted over the noise of battle, "We could really use a grenade or two over here!" It is a long, sabre-like curved blade with an energy field. When a solid object comes in contact with the blade, the energy field disrupts the molecular structure of the object. The result is that the blade can easily cut through any material, ranging from solid steel and concrete to flesh and bone.

Taren looks at Drake, "Are you any good for hand to hand? This thing is a glaive that releases a liquid that turns to plasma as it hits the edges of the electromagnetic bubble made by the glaive. Slices through anything."

"Well, it's been a while," Drake said, "but he seemed impressed." The General gestured toward the creature he had killed a few moments earlier. His hand axe was still embedded in the creature's skull. "Honestly, I don't want to get too near to those things. If they carry mutagenic bacteria, I want them dead before they get close enough for a knife-fight."

Up at the front line, Black, Frost and the others were busily holding back the oncoming wave of monsters. The two guards were running seriously low on ammunition. They employed strict fire discipline, trying to kill each creature with a minumum of shots. Unfortunately, their caution in conserving ammunition allowed the creatures to get closer than they would otherwise.
"Fall back!" Black shouted. A pack of six or seven monsters had closed in to within twenty feet. At such short range, it became more important to kill the creatures quickly than to save ammo--Black flipped his selector to full auto and hosed the creatures with the last twenty rounds in his magazine. "Empty!" he shouted, falling back before he could make sure the whole pack was dead.
Frost tried to pick up the slack as Black loaded his last magazine. He was too occupied to see one of the wounded creatures twitch, spasm, and then right itself. It lunged at him, flying over fourteen horizontal feet. If Frost hadn't sidestepped to the right, it would have collided with him, possibly burying its pincers into his gut. As it was, the creature snapped at him, slicing through his suit-jacket and missing his skin by millimeters.
Frost conked the creature on the head with the butt of his submachine gun, hoping to drive it back a foot or so. It didn't work. The creature lunged at him again, grabbing hold of his tie and pulling furiously.
Then its head exploded.
He turned to see Black nodding at him, a smoking Five-seveN pistol in his hand. The two moved back towards Drake--they no longer had enough ammunition to remain on the front lines. "Taren, is there a weapon cache nearby?" Frost asked.

[OOC]: Sorry for not posting for so long, my internet was totally screwed up for a while.

IC: "Ok, time for my last trick!"
Jant pulled the second handgun from his jacket, along with a long barrel.
The grip of the second handgun folded out to reveal a hole in the bottom of it. Attaching the first handgun's barrel to the hole in the second, and then attaching the extra barrel to the front of the second hangun's barrel, transforming the whole device into a rifle.

Jant put the device up to shoulder height, bracing it against his shoulder with the butt of the first gun, and using the trigger of the second. He knelt down, aiming the rifle at the creatures. Holding down the charge button, and looking along the length of the gun, the familiar whine started.

Jant quickly shouted "LOOK AWAY! DON'T LOOK AT THE POINT OF IMPACT!"
The whine went on 5 seconds before the beam of light, now red, lanced towards the group, striking the ground at the feet/claws/paws of the closest creature that hadn't lunged yet.

Jant closed his eyes, and was unable to see the effect, but he had already seen it before when he was testing it. Unfortunately, seeing it had nearly blinded him, so at least now he knew to close his eyes, although even through his eyelids the bright glow could be seen.

At the point of impact, the ground started to bubble and glow, the glow intensifying to such a point where looking at it was equal to looking at a minature sun. The bubbling increased, until a whine, lower pitched than that of the gun, quickly rose, before the point where the blast had hit simply exploded, vaporising everything within 5 metres, but doing little damage to the corridor itself.

Flipping a switch on the barrel, Jant started hosing the creatures that were too far away to be hit with the blast with smaller blasts.

"My ammo pack is probably going to outlive me, but the gun is going to overheat soon! We need to find a way to drive these things off for a while!"

Taren switched the glaive off and slid it into his trenchcoat, swinging his DSHR-34 forward, releasing five-round bursts of 11mm ammo at the things. The triangle on the top was flipped forward, as a rocket to the end of the hall blasted some of the creatures into the air, and they soon found themselves pegged by the heavy rounds. As Count Yuri considered the several possible points of escape. The room that they had been cornered in had several halls leading out to the base. The insect horde seemed to be coming mostly from one direction. He remebered that he had been transporting a prototype plasma bullet to deliver here for testing.

"This is as good a test as any," the Count said to himself. Loading the bullet, which looked rather ordinary, he stood and took aim. Carefully aiming at a support beam in the beast infested corridor, he pulled the trigger. A split second later, the bullet passed out of the barrel, the air igniting the plasma shell on contact. The bullet became enveloped in bright green plasma, passing through a charging insect reducing it to ash. Upon impact with the ceiling, it exploded, collapsing the hall and melting the concrete into a solid mass, blocking the insect's path.

Calling to the others, Count Yuri shouted "That should give us a little time! If anyone has a good idea for how to get out, now's a good time to tell us, that won't hold for ever."

The sudden plethora of weapons took his attention, though. "It's like Christmas come early," he said, excitedly picking out a USAS-12 combat shotgun and several drum magazines. He noted approvingly that they were loaded with QB-8 light-armor-piercing shells.
Black and Frost each loaded up with P90 magazines. "General, you're gonna have to hold on to the speed-loaders for your revolver," Frost said, handing over several cylinders' worth of ammunition. Black did the same.
"Almost forgot about those," the General said. He quickly reloaded his magnum, dropping the empty speed-loader on the ground.
"Alright, we seem pretty well stocked--are those AT-4s?" Black said, heading over toward a far corner of the room. In the confines of the underground, such a weapon could be almost as dangerous to the user as to the creatures; on the other hand, its warhead could penetrate 40mm of homogenous steel armor, and could probably take out one of the larger creatures in a single shot.
