GUILLEN CLASS BATTLESHIP
Mod 2 version

click to see full size pic (http://img69.exs.cx/img69/5874/BBGNII.jpg)

OVERVIEW: This is IDF's 1st super battleship. It is primarily designed for roles in bombardment of ground targets. It is the 1st IDF trimarian hulled ship to be commissioned for combat, 1st ship with guns more than 20 inches, and 1st to have electro thermal naval rail-guns. It has a good sized hangar that has quad elevators in it leading to a hangar deck with helos and VTOL fighters. It can fight other superbattleships and crush opposition on the ground. THis is a cheaper version of the Doujin. It is slightly less capable, it does lack ASW capabilities, but that is because Battleships aren't meant for it and that is why you have escorts, that's because at IDF shipyards we provide what you need, not the pricey extras that line our pockets like Doujin does.

main stats
length: 2,756 feet
max beam: 212 feet on main hull, total with trimarian hull is 512 feet
draught: 82 feet
displacement: 1,059,500 tons

speed: 27.3 knots (upgrades being researched)
range: 24 years fuel for reactors
steering: 2 rudders and 4 of 7 screws are azipod; 2 sets of bow and aft thrusters
complement: 6,191 men plus 1,000 marines

Armaments

GUNS
18 x 30 in electro-thermal Naval (on 2 penta-turrets forward and 2 aft quad turrets
16 x 5 in rail guns guns on 8 double-turrets
38x 20mm Vulcan phalanx II CIWS

MISSILES
342 VLS cells in 2 aft groups (put what you want in)
4 ESSMs can be put in a single cell, all other missiles need their own cell
12 RAM (rolling-airframe missile) boxes with 10 SAM missiles each

ARMOR

Main side belt: 22.5 inches at 17 degree incline
Main deck armor: 5.25 inches
2nd deck armor: 11,5 inches
splinter deck armor 3.75 inches

turret side 18.75 inches
superstructure 26.75 inches

Survivability is improved with the major components are in the main hull and protected by the secondary hulls and at least 45 feet away from a contact area on the main hull, but the secondary hull must be taken out 1st to get there. There are layers of armor provided by the 3 hulls. This ship can take a pounding and live. The crew quarters and storage areas (minus magazines) are more exposed in the secondary hulls along with other less important parts.

AIRCRAFT
4 elevators under deck hangar structure lead to spacious hangar deck where 52 helos or VTOL planes such as harriers or F-35C JSFs are stored.

PRICE = $120 BILLION
build time is 14 NS years. We have set up over 100 slips over the last 3 decades while this ship was being designed (check in my main IDF shipyard thread to see the expansion notes made in early June). They are build on the Sinai Penninsula yards (there is one in the NOrth on the Med and a Southern one on the Red Sea). This ship will be the life of the IDF economy as they are sold.

NETANYAHU class light dreadnought

http://img62.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img62&image=LDN1.jpg

OVERVIEW: With the impracticality of the 30"ers becoming apparent Naval engineers designed a new heavy battleship that is more usable and able to be built in larger numbers. That is where the Netanyahu class comes in. With 15 24" guns it packs a wallop and is the ultimate ship in bombarding shores or other navies. It has heavy armor and would be called a dreadnought in many world navies.

BATTLESHIPS

Arizona Class BBG

builders: IDF Shipyard's new Haifa large build yard

Overview: A modern, heavily armed and armored guided missile Battleship for the 21st century. This ship's missions are escort of carriers, shore bombardment, command, missile platform, ship to ship combat, and coastal defense.

The ship is large, but has a smaller RCS (Radar Cross Section) than most destroyers and frigates due to a composite covering the steel armor plates. In addition to this, the superstructure is shaped to avoid radar detection.

Ticonderoga II CG
USA

OVERVIEW: These AEGIS cruisers are built to last 40 years (life can be extended beyond that). They are great for air defense and work in carrier groups and that was their reason for being developed. This upgraded version of the Ticonderoga has VLS systems like ships CG-52 and onward with updated AEGIS systems to enhance her capabilities. The addition of TLAMs makes this a valuable asset in land attacks and ship to ship warfare. This version has the RAM defense system to better protect her in missile strikes and avoid the damage that occurs when the CIWS hit incoming missiles too close to the ship.

1. standard destroyer, Farragut class

OVERVIEW: This is multi-purpose AEGIS capable destroyer that can fight other ships, kill subs, provide air-cover, and attack ground targets. This ship can act alone or in large battlegroups.

Most of the hull above the water-line is made of a composite meant to reduce radar signature to make this a "stealth" destroyer. It does have a radar signature, but a very small one. Helicopter hangars, while not included can be added, but increase radar signature. The design is based on the Zumwalt class from the US Navy.

PRICE: 1.0 billion
with 1 helo hangar, 1.065 billion
with 2 helo hangar, $1.100 billion
Subtact $30 million for each chopper removed if you get the hangars.

2. Fast Merchant, Blockade Runner Farragut]

Overview: This is an unarmed version of the Farragut class destroyer. The VLS weapon tubes have been removed to provide spacious aft and bow cargo spaces. A hangar for 2 choppers has been built, this can be used for cargo or helos, which run at 30 million each if you buy them from me.

Some of the quarters for the crew that would normaly run the weapons systems have been removed and converted to cargo holds.

MAX cargo Tonnage, 10,000 tons, but the helo hangar adds 1,000 more

This makes a good ship for smuggling or just running by enemy blockades.

RADAR, SONAR, guns, and decoy defensive systems are unchanged as is the ASROC torpedo launcher.

ADDITIONAL WEAPON, SM-1 SAM launcher with 12 missiles in storage to fend off air attacks, launched from single launch rail on the roof of the hangar.

COSTS: $500 MILLION

3. armed merchant destroyer, Farragut armed cargo ship

OVERVIEW: This is a mixture of the two variants. The after VLS launchers have been removed for cargo spaces while the forward cells remain for any missiles you wish to have. There are a total of 94 cells remaining. Check variant 1 to see what number of each type of missiles can be placed in each cell.

TOTAL cargo without helo hangar= 5,000 tons

Some of the excess crew quarters are once again converted into cargo holds. A 2 helicopter hanger is on the after deck for use as a hangar or as a cargo space of 1,000 tons. These ships make good smugglers, attackers, escorts, or even stealth sub tenders for diesel subs.

The non VLS-weapon systems like guns and torpedoes are untouched as are all other systems

COSTS: $800 MILLION

SCORPION class SSN

http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/ship/ssn-682-p01.jpg

Design Initiation Statement:
In recent years it has become very neccesary for a smaller and more agile SSN in the IDF Navy. The Halibut class is just that and is the ultimate SSN, but it is too expensive due to here titanium hull and special reactor system. The Admiral Jacobson has made a recommendation for the development of a new class of submarines. This sub class will be built for under ice operations, blue ocean missions, and of course ops in littoral waters like the Red Sea.

Specifications for SCORPION, SSN-871, HY-100 Stell hull
length 304 feet
beam 33 feet
draft 30.1 feet
displacement 4,975 tons submerged
speed 33.4 knots (sea trials for ISS Scorpion)
operating depth 1,400 feet (test depth) 2,050 feet (crush depth)
Powerplant S11G nuclear reactor (30,000 shp)
Armaments 4 x 21 in TT forward. (space for 32 weapons)
crew 92 normal, plus 8-12 Cryppies or spooks (optional)

SONAR
IBM BQQ-10C/D
BQG-5D (flank array)
TB 25/32 thin line array
AMETEK BQS-20
MIDAS mine and ice dectection

RADAR: Navigation/fire control/surface search; Sperry BPS-15G

Countermeasures: The Scorpion has 12 4.5" countermeasure launchers. She can carry 54 on deployment.

SEAL Operations The Scorpion can have an ASDV SEAL vehicle or a drydeck shelter attached on her hull to deploy SEALs and other special operation groups.

Fire Control The Scorpion has automated computer controlled fire control systems. The heart of it is the BSY-1 Fire Control computer. It can make the complicated trig and calculus computations for targetting taking SONAR data and input variables to come up with amazing fire control solutions in the fraction of the time of a human. Sunfire E-15K mainframe runs the computer system and the software for the system,

UNDER ICE OPS
http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/ship/ssn-684-p02.jpg

The Scorpion class boats have sail planes that can rotate up 90 degrees to allow her to use her hardened sail to break through arctic ice while running special missions up North. This is very important in running intelligence missions where you have to spy on an enemy that is North of the Arctic circle. It is also useful if you have a naval base up there and need to use it year round.

ELINT Ops

The Scorpion is built with special Radio gear compartments and gear to intercept electronic messages and spy on the enemy in a stealthy way that planes and satelites can't copy. There is room without modification for 8-12 cryppies or spooks aboard for these missions, although, you may have to remove some torpedoes if they bring extra gear. Electronice Intelligence is one of the key missions that Scorpion was designed for.

Depth Control

The design of the Scorpion class includes diving planes placed on the sail. This allows optimum depth control on a sub of her size. When running at 70 feet with her ESM mast and other ELINT masts up, she will be able to keep her depth within 3 feet Sea State 5 conditions. Computer control helps make this possible. In Sea State 3, she can keep her depth control within .5 feet of target depth. This is very useful during intel operations.

Stealth
The reactor on the Scorpion class has made her the quietest boat in the IDF Navy. Her reactor does not require a loud pump unless she is running at speeds above 25 knots. Rubber insulation also helps contain noise that is produced within the ship. Aenoic tiles have been placed on the hull to allow her to absorb threatening Active Sonar pulses.

PRICE = $1 BILLION

The ISS SCORPION was dedicated on November 5th, 2004 at IDF Shipyards Sub facility in Gaza. She was named for the USS Scorpion SSN-589 and dedicated in memory of the 99 brave crewmembers of the US Navy submarine that lie on the bottom of the Atlantic. The victims of an accident who's cause is still unknown. It was these brave men of the Silent Service that helped us win the Cold War.

(Russia)

These are extemely cheap Russian subs. They are good at hunting in wolf packs and if used in great numbers can kill the greatest subs and carriers. But, these should be used by an Admiral who views these subs as expendable, which they are in my view.

I recomend you use F-35C JSFs instead of Harriers, but you will have to get the planes elsewhere. The JSF is stealthed and is VTOL for the carrier.

The Republic of Sharina would like to look into acquiring one Yorktown Carrier and an Imperator Missile Cruiser to add to our miniscule navy. We neither have any aircraft carriers, nor any missile cruisers.

Would you accept a payment plan over several years? Sharina realizes it cannot purchase both ships in one payment, the Yorktown being 4.5 billion dollars and the Imperator being 1.75 billion.

Perhaps Sharina could pay 1.25 billion on a down payment, then 1 billion dollars per year for the next 5 years? Would this be acceptable?

Thank you, and we are eager to hear your response.

Thanks for the help, IDF. I'm trying to build some semblance of a defense force. I only have 10 tanks and 6 heliocopters for my whole ground / air based military. I was sold several old ships by Sdaeriji, but the carrier and missile cruiser would give our navy a healthy boost.

Any suggestions on the military / air force?

Your willingness to sell the carrier and missile cruiser is much appreciated. We will return the favor to your nation someday, somehow. Consider the initial 1.25 billion dollars wired immediately.

In addition, would you be interested in opening embassies, trade, and friendship / ally treaty with Sharina? We would appreciate a fine friend as yourself.

No worry, I'm not using it to attack to anywhere. Unless my allies need help.
They'll defence Nireva, as long as I'm the president, or ally need help.
The Republic of Nireva wants to have big army, to make fear at enemys, so they wouldn't even try attack.

But I'm not a threat, as long as you don't start a war against Nireva / any ally.

I have recently talked with NWV and he has agreed that their is a need for nations who produce and sell weapons for economic support. That is why I would like to offer you membership to the Weapons Producers Alliance.

The WPA would only be activated in the situation as if another nation is threatening you with violence to shut down your store. We figure that if we didnt produce these weapons and make money, that the nation who is buying them would produce them themselves. We are also sometimes threatened by nations who fill like it is their job to police the world and we stand firmly in our right to produce our goods and sell them for any reason we see fit.

As I said before this alliance is only activated in the situation that your nations company is directly threatened. This would not include any members nations own military campaigns. Might I suggest you design newer and better classes of destroyers and frigates, ships with the latest in weapons and other technology. :D
I have a frig under development and a new destroyer, the ILan Ramon. I have the same VLS systems as everyone else, but the missiles used are based on the user. My VLS systems are better as they are the only bottom reloadable in existance where you have all the cells filled and extra missiles in the magazines to reload an empty VLS cell after firing a missile, plus they can reload from a replenishment ship at sea, all the guns are Electro Thermal Chemical Naval guns (the most advanced available)

Hi, IDF. I was wondering what you would recommend to round out my navy. It is now currently comprised of.....

6 Kirov-class cruisers
9 Kidd-class destroyers
15 Grisha V-class frigates
3 Arizona-class battleships
1 Yorktown class Aircraft Carrier (for my air-force)
1 Imperator class Missile Cruiser
1 Torrent class Missle Cruiser
5 Arleigh Burke class DDGs
3 Farragat class DDGs
2 Perry class FFGs
1 Ticonderoga class CG
100 Dragoon class Assault Hydrofoils

Any ideas what ships I should add over the next few days? (My population is actually +3 million over the one stated on my profile because of me rescuing 3 million Hatarian Mammalia civilians)

My population would probably be 30 million by the weekend, I think.

I'd say you are fine for now, but when you do expand I'd say add more DDGs and CGs, then maybe a small carrier

I currently have 24 Arleigh Burke's serving on my Navy. And am looking to replace them with The Standard destroyer, Farragut class. Is this worth it? Will it be able to fulfill the roles that the Arleigh Burke Fulfills?

If so, I would like to purchase 24.

Also, is it worth keeping Gunboats (I have my own designs) or should I just decomission them?

The Farragut has all the abilities of an Arleigh Burke, but it is also built for stealth and based off the RL Zumwalt class which the US Navy will use to replace the Burkes. It is an AEGIS destroyer and more capable than the Burke.

I can get you your ships very quickly
