T-8A3 Sea Sprite Amphibious Tank

The T-8A3 Sea Sprite is a custom modification of the Phoenix Dynamix T-8 light tank. It utilizes lightweight but sturdy composite ceramic armor plate, supplemented by non-explosive reactive armor, and armored bulkheads which separate the NBC protected crew compartment from the fuel tanks as usual and the top panels of the tank are also designed to blow outwards in the event of penetration by a HEAT projectile or ATGM as with most Phoenix Dynamix Tanks. Unlike other Phoenix Dynamix tanks which use snorkel systems to pass water hazards, the Sea Sprite features a Kevlar composite(similar to our airship skins) inflatable screen all around its edges to increase buoyancy. The raised screen, combined with lightening features and the addition of a watertight semi-buoyant module underneath the hull of the tank the Sea Sprite actually floats and swims via a pair of water jets in the rear. The Kevlar screen, curtain or apron as it is called, is made up of 2 layers of Kevlar composite material enhanced with a carbon honeycomb structure. In between the 2 layers of kevlar are 4 layers of a rubber-like composite, in between the two outer layers are a self-sealing gel that will fill any small holes that might be made by bullets (to preserve flotation integrity) Additionally, the kevlar screens are capable of stopping many small arms rounds but perhaps most valuable of all, once the tank leaves the water, the screen can remain up and act as an extra layer of protection to minimize the effects of dual warhead anti-tank rockets. As with the orignal T-8, smoke can be laid by an engine operated system and the standard armament is one 112mm, 52 caliber smooth bore main cannon. There is enough room for 40 assorted rounds in the separate ammo compartment located between the main turret and auto-loader .The commander sits in a standard control station to the right of the centerline cannon with a 15.5 mm machine gun(can be replaced with a .50, .450(11mm) or 7.62 machine gun or an automatic grenade launcher) on a skate mount, and he can operate the smoke system and with the CITV system, which provides the commander with independent stabilized day and night vision with a 360 degree view, automatic sector scanning, automatic target queuing of the gunner's sight and back-up fire control. There is one coaxial 7.62mm M-240B machinegun that can be operated by the gunner (can be swapped for an 11mm, 15.5 or .50cal MG)

Is it correct that the T-1 Scorpion Tank offers firepower not only against land target, but can also defend against aerial threats? We would also like to know how the Scorpion performs in desert warfare.

On this occasion, rather than announce the 8 billionth baby has been made sterile by government doctors, give the family a huge cash prize, toast wine glasses with world leaders or some other IC affair, I have decided I would reflect upon my time playing NationStates.

One day, (June 23, 2003 to be exact) bored, I followed a link from a forum and came upon nationstates.net. I founded 3 nations that evening and started playing right away. (Two of the three still exist, but I let the third die.) I remember that shortly after I created my first nation, someone sent me an In Character telegram, inviting me to their region. I was quite frankly shocked and I thought that person was.. strange to say the least. I think the telegram was selling the region as a peaceful paradise, so I responded simply: "no thanks i want to have wars".
To date I've never tried the region crashing game, it just never really appealed to me.
At first I was content with issues, happily molding my nations into three distinctly different countries. I had a big setback, when my UN nation suddenly went from Father Knows Best State to Inoffensive Centrist Democracy. I was baffled until I found out a stupid UN Resolution had screwed up my government. Since then I have never thought twice about returning to the UN.
After the first week, the issues were not giving me an option to declare war on someone yet, so confused, I made my first post ever, in the General Forum asking about how to declare war. The nice people explained to me and I started reading International Incidents and the NationStates forum.
I slowly transitioned from lurking to posting on the forums and got my first taste of RP. Since I realized my nation was small compared to the other HUGE 100 million population nations, I made a lot of tongue and cheek posts at first, making fun of my military. I think in one of the first "RP" threads Tyrador participated in, a nation was asking for naval support, so I sent my entire navy: a speed boat with a few machine guns on it.:-D I participated in a lot of RPs a few good wars, WWIX for one, and I watched Dark Terror, Fik and other's antics with amusement. The good open RPs then were becoming too few and far between to keep me busy and I thought about quitting NS, well the forums at least... Then I found my favorite 2 pastimes, running a storefront and talking to myself.
I ran 4 storefronts simultaneously. Tyrador sold slightly improved real life equipment, Islamaisbad sold terrorist weapons and suicide bombs, Antarctica123 sold armed snowmobiles, arctic ships and snow suits. Then I had The Phoenix Milita, which made custom weapons. I specifically waited until July 4 2003 to found my current main nation, because I wanted the founded date under my name, of course with the move to jolt, that didn't matter anymore :-( Anyway The Phoenix Milita turned out to be my most successful storefront since it was mostly my own custom designs, complete with custom pics I drew and scanned. Eventually I think I got into what is now called "puppet wanking", or maybe its "reverse puppet wanking". I prefer "puppet mastering". While I did toy with the dark side of puppet wanking (I arranged lucrative economic deals and military alliances between two of my nations) I mainly competed against my own puppets. In fact the first large scale war I participated had about 6 nations in it. 2 of mine were on one side, and a third was on the other! I puppet wanked with the best of them, I think I was probably one of the best puppet wankers ever because most of my puppets were never exposed until I left the game in December 2003.
My storefront was one of the biggest in the (NS) world, and I was always coming out with new products... I was becoming unstoppable! But then, real life hit. I found out I had to leave by the end of December, so quickly organized a going away RP (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=299504). I took every single one of my puppets that existed, combined their militaries (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=300669) (the ultimate puppet wank) and declared war on the whole world. The RP lasted a short time, and I had all my forces retreat into a mountain complex, before nuking them, in order to deny the world the final victory. I didn't think I would return, and It was sad but I had other more important real life concerns to worry about at the time.
About a year later though, I did come back and with a vengeance!:mp5:
I revived a lot of my old nations and re established a few storefronts too, before consolidating everything into Phoenix Dynamix. I sent Islamaisbad off into space, did minor RPs, made entire new nations, then let them die after the rps they started went no where. I posted a bunch of The Phoenix Milita's military equipment, and then immediately logged in as a different nation and posted a harsh criticism of the equipment that I had just posted(ridiculous right?) Finally I decided I didn't need 20 puppets on the forum, and reduced my stable to a select few. With other things in my life taking up time, I really only had the time and energy to keep one nation up and running full time, so I chose The Phoenix Milita. I let The Phoenix Milita, (which broke off from Tyrador originally) conquer Tyrador(my first nation) in a beautiful puppet war.

If you've read this far, you probably know the rest of the story until now. I sat back a few months minding my storefront, jumping into RPs here and there. Then this year I began to RP a bit more, but still usually involving my storefront which I love or my military which is a close second. I started developing my individual characters too and have been trying to use them in RPs more often All and all I think I have had a good experience here. I went from someone who laughed at the thought of In-Character roleplay to an extremely active and still growing one. If you asked me 4 years ago if I thought I would still be playing..... ha! I didn't think it would last the first month! So now my nation is getting old I guess, I know there are many older nations around but 4 years is a long time.. (hey whens ns 2 coming out? :-P)
There are a lot of nations dead now that I miss(where did Ell go?)... and a lot I don't miss ("Of Arcel" anyone?) but I wonder how many of old nations that were around in those are playing today with names I don't recognize...
So in case you haven't guessed yet, I'm going to wrap up a few Phoenix Dynamix projects I have going on and get through a small, upcoming RP (which I hope goes fast) and then I am going to take a much needed break.
