Raul had a license also for the gun, even if he didn't, it was doubtful that anyone would mess with the son of the Greal Foreign Minister.

Raul took out his cellphone and sent a message fast saying Help!. The GIA headquarters got the message and sent the coordinates to a submarine aircraft carrier near ViZion.

A few minutes later, 2 super corba helicopters were heading to the school.

The Super Cobra helicopters got to the school quickly, the pilots were betting that students would be surprised to hear a helicopter. The helicopter flew over the coordinates dropped 20 Imperial Guard troops, all armed to the teeth.

They saw the crowd of people after minutes of walking. some of them were on the ground.

A black BMW sedan pulled up and parked in front of the school. Exiting from the driver nad passanger doors were two men suited in black. They walked uickly through the campus and went straight for the dorm in question. Both saw the commotion still taking place and walked calmly towards it.

"Excuse us," one said, "We're here to remove two of our students."

The men showed their credentials, Commonwealth SVR.

"Oh no," Sara said.

"It's the SVR," she answered, "THe Foreign Intelligence Service."

Consul Gregori Redding made his way from his office to the briefing room. There, his staff had assembled as they readied for the tele-conference between the Consul and Secretary of State Macus Vidal. Taking his seat, Redding waited as the large viewscreen on the wall flickered to life.

"Comrade-Secretary," Redding greeted, "I wish we were speaking under better circumstances."

"As do I, Consul Redding," Macus replied. "What is the situation so far?"

"SVR agents have confirmed the safety of the students in question, and they are currently in the process of bringing them here for protection. We will know more once we have questioned the two students."

"We have contacted the parents of the students," Vidal explained. "Comrade-Congressman Govena is demanding immediate transport to Vitalia to ensure the safety of his son. And as for Comrade-Colonel Polenin, he's preparing the whole 5th Air Wing for an air strike-of course, I believe he was joking."

"Contact with their parents should be a priority before uncovering the whereto's and witherfor's of this incident," Redding amended. He sat back in his seat, "Do you agree?"

"That seems reasonable," Vidal answered. "Report back immediately should the situation change."

"Yes, comrade," Redding responded as the screen blinked out.

"We'll come back!" Sara shouted, cupping her hands. The second agent grabbed her arm and pushed her in.

"We promise!" Yvgenni shouted as well, recieving a shove from the driver. He only hoped his friends had heard them.

Yvgenni thought he heard someone shouting a reply, but the agent had gunned the engine, and the car sped out of the parking lot. The ride was relatively short compared to the taxi ride that had brought them to the school, but Yvgenni flet it was the longest trip he had taken in a while. Why, when he was finally learning happiness...?

He turned to Sara, and noticed her staring out of the window, lost in the cityscape around them. For some reason, he had the feeling that she needed his protection at that moment. Though, from what, he could not answer. Is this what it means to be chevalier? he asked. What his master said all men who mastered a martial art should aspire to be? His hand reached out and grasped hers, as much a surprise to Sara as to Yvgenni himself. But she didn't bat it away, and even leaned on his shoulder for the rest of the trip. The car came to a screeching halt, and they stared up at the cultured eddifice of the Consulate, the red hammer-and-sickle banner waving lightly above the parapet.

"Welcome to the Consulate," a young woman, barely a year or two older than them greeted them as they entered. "My name is Mary Ericcson. I'll be your attache while you stay here."

"Hello," Yvgenni answered for the both of them. Sara had become withdrawn as they had entered the Consulate.

"Your rooms are ready, but first there are some people wo would like to speak with you," Mary explained.

The two teens nodded, knowing that there would now be long hours of questioning by men in important suits with important-sounding titles. They were led into a small antechamber where another aide was setting up some video eqiupment.

"It'll be up in a minute," he said to Mary. She nodded and gestured for them to sit.

"We'll have to keep this brief, but you'll get more chances, all right?" she told them.

Yvgenni nodded but was apprehensive. What was she talking about? Who were they going to talk to? His questions were answered shortly as a wall-screen fizzled into resolution and revealed a man that looked like n older version of himself.

"Hello, father," Yvgenni said.

Sara was surprised. She couldn't believe how much alike they were in appearance. But in demeanor and by the way thet spoke to one another, Sara could tell they were very different.

"No, I'm fine," Yvgenni answered to a question Sara hadn't caught. "There's no need for that."

"And what would you know of these things?" the Congressman retorted. "You've known these people, what, a few days? And you think you know their true self?"

"More than you, sir," Yvgenni shot back.

"We'll talk more tomorrow," his father answered, visibly angry. The screen blinked out, and Yvgenni let out a disgustd sigh.

Sara was about to tell him something when the screen blinked on again. This time, an official-looking prompt came on reading, "Commonwealth Air Defense Command, 5th Air Wing, Nieflheim ADB." The screen soon dissolved to show her uncle, dressed in flight suit and harness, a Spartan-like room in the background.

"Hey, Smile," Dmitri said, and her cheeks got warm at his use of her nickname in front of Yvgenni. "I heard about what happened, are you all right?"

"I'm fine," she answered, "It was all a big misunderstanding, really," she explained.

"Are you sure?" Dmitri asked again. "Are you hurt?"

"No, I'm really fine," Sara reassured him. "Yvgenni here took good care of me."

"Really..." he asked, turning his attention to Yvgenni. "You sound like a kid that's got a good head on your shoulders. You just make ure she's all right. I'll come after you if you don't," he added sternly.

"Uncle Dmitri!" she admonished.

"Heh, I'm just foolin' with him," he answered. "Look, I gotta go, but we'll talk again, okay?"

"Okay," Sara responded. "And take care of yourself..."

"Don't worry," Dmitri answered, "Us Polenins always come back to our ladies." With a wink and a smile, he was gone.

Yvgenni was surprised. Even though he was just an uncle...and until recently an estranged uncle...Dmitri's face and voice had held genuine concern. The stress lines looked like he had been up all night worrying about her. Of course, he was in the middle of a war, but a Colonel wouldn't be that troubled...would he?

"Smile?" he asked Sara as Mary returned to the room. They hadn't even realized she'd been gone.

"Oh, it's his nickname for me," she said, a little bit of embarrassment escaping from her voice. "It's from that song Sara Smile," she amended.

"Oh," he responded. Yvgenni tried to think of his father having a nickname for him, but the idea was just too foreign. "It's...cute," he said finally, struggling with the right adjective to use.

Commonwealth Consulate-Vitalia

They had been haranged within an inch of their sanity by an army of initials, KGB, SVR, GRU and a flurry of others that were now forgotten. Sitting quietly in a room, both teens were enjoying a bit of tea, waiting for the official government response. Mary was with them, and was patiently watching a program from the Motherland, care of the Commonwealth Broadcasting Community, the CBC. Just then, a Special Report bulletin flashed, and Yvgenni and Sara turned, suddenly interested.

"This is a special live report from the frontlines on the Western Front," announcer Mark Rather reported. "We break now to correspondent Chris Riley, imbedded with the GDA's 9th Fur d' Lance Division."

"Thank you Mark," Chris said, her short hair covered by a kevlar helmet and her athletic figure hidden in fatigues. "A few hours ago, Katangaran forces began an advance through Ritger's Gap along the Western Range. Commonwealth forces, including the 9th, fell back to the Salvus River and were nea defeat until they were saved by units belonging to the 5th Air Wing. Of incredible note were those pilots of the 120th 'Stormcrows.'..."

Yvgenni walked the halls of the consulate, searching for Sara. She'd seemed upset after the broadcast, and now he couldn't find her anywhere. Peeking into an empty room, he caught a familiar figure out on the balcony. As softly as he could, Yvgenni apporached her.

"Hey," he said carefully.

"Hey," Sara responded, sniffling and trying to wipe her tears away. He handed her his heandkerchief. "Thanks."

"Look," he started to say, not sure of what he should say, "I know that news report has you upset over your uncle...but I'm sure he's fine."

The same black sedan drove up to the school, and the teens piled out, this time accompanied by two agents, a man and woman, care of the Commonwealth SVR. They walked through the campus together, neither saying a word. A lot had happened over the course of a day, and both were physically and emotionally exhausted. Yvgenni made it a point to make sure Sara got to her dorm safely, and before she closed the door on him and their new protectors, he reached out and grabbed her hand, squeezing it for additional support.

He plucked his cigarette from his lips, throwing it on the ground and extinguishing it with the tip of his shoe.

He was dressed in a semi-formal dress shirt which was rather wrinkled and not even buttoned up all the way, showing a portion of his upper chest. His jeans were a washed out, dull blue. Whether this was accidental over years of use or a style used in the jeans' creator isn't easy to tell.

A portly man who was short and rather balding stepped out after him and looked at the school. He looked to Anthony. "Now listen here Anthony. Your father is really proud of you but he expects you to get through the next four years, if you can, without any problems. The family always has your back if you run into an problems but don't go starting anyway. Got it?"

He looked very seriously at Anthony who seemed rather amused. He scoffed and patted the man on the shoulder. "Don't worry Palmello i'll be good. Have a safe trip home." He has a dominating straight fastball, an adequate change-up, but he is still developing his cutter and breaking pitches. He is still talented with the bat and can drive the ball fairly well into the gap. He doesn't have too much power, but he is still developing and can hit for average. Yoni doesn't care much for his academics, but he works just hard enough to stay eligible for athletics. His muscles aren't building quite like he hoped so he may be tempted to turn towards performance enhancing drugs in the future.

Yoni woke up at 1:45 in the afternoon. he grabbed a quick snack and put on the warm-up jersey and other parts of the practice uniform that were waiting for him in his room. He then grabbed his baseball bag and slung it along with his spikes over his shoulder as he headed out to the practice field. Coach Frank LaThome was waiting for him as he approached the field. The two had talked over the phone and met once when LaThome was scouting Yoni. LaThome was a former major leaguer who had played as an infielder for the Indians, Cardinals, and then ended his career with the White Sox.

LaThome welcomed the young pitcher and had him stretch out before heading to the lush green grass of the outfield. It was there that he met his new catcher, Jorge Piermauer. Piermauer was another player on scholarship. He hailed from Western Europe and was a star on his country's Little League team. He hit the walkoff shot to win the LL World Series just four years before and had been on LaThome's scouting list for a while.

Piermauer and Yoni lined up as Yoni began tossing to Piermauer to loosen his arm. After each throw the men took a step back. They started a mere 30 feet apart, but they were about 180 feet away from each other when the long toss session ended. Yoni and Piermauer then went on their way to the bullpen to begin the side session.

LaThome watched with Don Navarro, a failed major league pitcher who made up for his lack of talent through his knowledge of the game and ability to coach developing stars. Unfortunately an incident on the mound at old Tiger Stadium would forever lead to him being ostracized from the majors and forced him to coach young players at this private school. He wasn't bitter about how things went. He was happy in his position and still didn't regret punching his manager out all those years ago at Tiger Stadium. The dumb fucker had made a poor substitution that weakened the infield defense and had turned a routine inning ending 5-4-3 double play into an error that kept an inning going. No, it was worth it just to show that fucker what a fool he was thought Navarro as he sat and watched a young pitcher make his first pitch in the pen.

Piermauer and Yoni hadn't met before today and had yet to have a conversation, but Piermauer sure as hell knew he would never forget this 17 year old boy when he felt a 92 mph 4 seam fastball through his catcher's mit. The pitch hadn't broke more than an inch, but it was still the best fastball he had ever seen outside of the professionals. Piermauer shook his mit as he threw the ball back with his right hand.

Yoni didn't even think to ask Navarro for a gun reading. He knew he had talent with his fastball. Just to show Navarro and LaThome that it wasn't a fluke he told Piermauer he would throw another fastball. The young southpaw was throwing from the wind-up when he released a 90 mph fastball. The pitch was slightly slower, but it had more movement on it. Either way, it wasn't going to be hit in this league.

Yoni continued the bullpen session where he showed the coach his off-speed change-up, which came over the plate at about 80 mph. The change-up did show some issues in terms of control. He could usually get it over for a strike, but he wasn't as consistent as the pin point control he showed with his fastball.

He tried throwing a cutter and breaking pitches. The cutter was at 88 mph, but it had some control issues. Some of the throws would have been wild pitches. The curveball and slider each came in at the low 70s. They broke well and had movement, but once again there were control issues. Navarro saw that he had a great pitcher on his hands, but he was still a work in progress.

Following the 20 pitch bullpen session, Yoni got to pitch to members of the team. He struck a few of them out and hit one with his slider before stopping after only facing five of them. Navarro saw he was beginning to favor his shoulder and did not want to have Yoni risk injury before the season even began. They had just 2 weeks until the first game and wanted Yoni to be healthy and stretched out for the opening day start. For the first time in years it was hoped that the baseball team would contend for a conference and league championship.

Yoni got to the team's clubhouse where he showered and got his things together. He figured he would head to the common room before dinner and hopefully meet a few new people.

Yoni woke up at 1:45 in the afternoon. he grabbed a quick snack and put on the warm-up jersey and other parts of the practice uniform that were waiting for him in his room. He then grabbed his baseball bag and slung it along with his spikes over his shoulder as he headed out to the practice field. Coach Frank LaThome was waiting for him as he approached the field. The two had talked over the phone and met once when LaThome was scouting Yoni. LaThome was a former major leaguer who had played as an infielder for the Indians, Cardinals, and then ended his career with the White Sox.

LaThome welcomed the young pitcher and had him stretch out before heading to the lush green grass of the outfield. It was there that he met his new catcher, Jorge Piermauer. Piermauer was another player on scholarship. He hailed from Western Europe and was a star on his country's Little League team. He hit the walkoff shot to win the LL World Series just four years before and had been on LaThome's scouting list for a while.

Piermauer and Yoni lined up as Yoni began tossing to Piermauer to loosen his arm. After each throw the men took a step back. They started a mere 30 feet apart, but they were about 180 feet away from each other when the long toss session ended. Yoni and Piermauer then went on their way to the bullpen to begin the side session.

LaThome watched with Don Navarro, a failed major league pitcher who made up for his lack of talent through his knowledge of the game and ability to coach developing stars. Unfortunately an incident on the mound at old Tiger Stadium would forever lead to him being ostracized from the majors and forced him to coach young players at this private school. He wasn't bitter about how things went. He was happy in his position and still didn't regret punching his manager out all those years ago at Tiger Stadium. The dumb fucker had made a poor substitution that weakened the infield defense and had turned a routine inning ending 5-4-3 double play into an error that kept an inning going. No, it was worth it just to show that fucker what a fool he was thought Navarro as he sat and watched a young pitcher make his first pitch in the pen.

Piermauer and Yoni hadn't met before today and had yet to have a conversation, but Piermauer sure as hell knew he would never forget this 17 year old boy when he felt a 92 mph 4 seam fastball through his catcher's mit. The pitch hadn't broke more than an inch, but it was still the best fastball he had ever seen outside of the professionals. Piermauer shook his mit as he threw the ball back with his right hand.

Yoni didn't even think to ask Navarro for a gun reading. He knew he had talent with his fastball. Just to show Navarro and LaThome that it wasn't a fluke he told Piermauer he would throw another fastball. The young southpaw was throwing from the wind-up when he released a 90 mph fastball. The pitch was slightly slower, but it had more movement on it. Either way, it wasn't going to be hit in this league.

Yoni continued the bullpen session where he showed the coach his off-speed change-up, which came over the plate at about 80 mph. The change-up did show some issues in terms of control. He could usually get it over for a strike, but he wasn't as consistent as the pin point control he showed with his fastball.

He tried throwing a cutter and breaking pitches. The cutter was at 88 mph, but it had some control issues. Some of the throws would have been wild pitches. The curveball and slider each came in at the low 70s. They broke well and had movement, but once again there were control issues. Navarro saw that he had a great pitcher on his hands, but he was still a work in progress.

Following the 20 pitch bullpen session, Yoni got to pitch to members of the team. He struck a few of them out and hit one with his slider before stopping after only facing five of them. Navarro saw he was beginning to favor his shoulder and did not want to have Yoni risk injury before the season even began. They had just 2 weeks until the first game and wanted Yoni to be healthy and stretched out for the opening day start. For the first time in years it was hoped that the baseball team would contend for a conference and league championship.

Yoni got to the team's clubhouse where he showered and got his things together. He figured he would head to the common room before dinner and hopefully meet a few new people.
Jeff Riggs say a new face walking through the halls, and he was dressed in the school baseball uniform. Ahh, you must be Jonathan, yes? I am Jeff Riggs, your advisor. When did you arrive, no one notified me of your arrival. None the less, welcome to the International School for Teens! You apparently have found your room ok?

"So, this is your first trip here, huh? You excited?"

She was reading the headline about the war.

"Dmitri..." she muttered.

"Excuse me," Andelko said to her, are you-?"

"Oh, I'm sorry," she blurted out, handing back the paper and taking off down the hall. The boy returned the stunned expression before taking off after her.

"Sara, wait," Yvgenni called out to her. He didn't quite understand himself, chasing her like this.

"Just leave me alone!" she shouted back, vision blurred by tears. Rounding a corner, she didn't notice the girl before her.

"Look out!" Yvgenni warned, but it was already too late.

Sara had bowled into a tall red-haired girl, sending them both sprawling to the ground. Yvgenni was quick on the scene, helping Sara to her feet before turning to the girl she'd knocked over.

"Sorry about my friend," he said, offering his hand. "Are you hurt?"

First thing, I'd like to welcome you here to the International School for Teens. I think you'll enjoy it here with the mix of cultures and generally upbeat feel of the school. "Just leave me alone!" she shouted back, vision blurred by tears. Rounding a corner, she didn't notice the girl before her.

"Look out!" Yvgenni warned, but it was already too late.

Sara had bowled into a tall red-haired girl, sending them both sprawling to the ground. Yvgenni was quick on the scene, helping Sara to her feet before turning to the girl she'd knocked over.

"Sorry about my friend," he said, offering his hand. "Are you hurt?"

Jessica was clearly not expecting that, she was looking at a book that her father gave her when a girl rounded the corner and knocked Jessica and herself down.

"Yes, I'm alright." said Jessica in her Greal accent, grabbing the boy's hand to get up. "Thats alright, I run into plenty of people before."
