Malaya takes the uniform pants and hands them out of the hut, then gets some rope in return. "We go to chief now." She binds his hands and takes him out of the hut.
On the way to the main hut two things catch the captive's eye. First there is a woman with red face paint seeing over the burial of the scout who went for water before. Second is one of the natives, wearing his uniform, receiving a fake arrow wound near a woman who is making herself look as though she had been abused by a soldier.
Malaya pulls the captive down into the main hut. Although the entrance size is the same, it is large enough to stand in on the interior. There is a hole in the top and a small fire burning in the middle. A venerable man wearing scale hide and white face paint sits near the fire with a spearman standing ready at each side of him.
OOC: Italics means it is in the native tongue.
IC:

Week later after the flagship(Reddrop) and the two merchantmans(Horizon, Ton of gold) left the colony, the fort was ready. Only a day after the fort was built, the ships came back with cannons, muskets, colonists and supplies. They made a count of the colonists, militia, muskets, ships and cannons:
Soldiers: 70
Cannons: 25
Muskets: 100
Colonists: 200(65 working in the fort)
Ships(Bound to the new world): 5

The splitting of colonists for scoutting begun. Ten groups of ten men, armed with muskets left to the north, to the south, to the west and to the east. And something between them.

Sent upon the Discovery, which travelled back to Poznon.
May, 1612 In the Year of Our Lord

To my lord the Duke Olski, the Parliament of Poznon, and the great people of Poznon,

We have safely arrived on the New Continent. The land has been named New Poznon , and the principal, capital, and so far, only city of it, has been named Marshalltown , after the Marshall family, who passed on the voyage.
We are situated on a lovely piece of land, with a high hill towards the rear of our settlement. Directly North of us is a large bay, which we have named the Marie , after another, and last, one to pass on the voyage. This leads into a great river which we have fashioned the same name.
We have built a wall around the town, established a proper Church to worship in, and have enough houses to shelter all of us. We are currently constructing a mill upon the river.
Our food supplies are goodly in size, thanks to plentiful fishing, and a group of Natives who taught us the finer points of farming in the region. I believe we should treat these people with respect, as they appear to be friendly, and are our Fellow Man.
We have yet to come in contact with other settlers, though as I compose this letter, a delegation of 10 men are being sent South, where I believe others to be, to establish contact with fellow colonizers.
This is indeed a beautiful, bountiful land, which is perfect for settlement by us. I request more people and supplies be sent.

Your humble servant,
Governor Curtis Churchill

OOC: Kihameria's the next colony south, right? My men should be arriving someplace soon...

A rush of Indians sped toward the fort. However, Captain Johnson was prepared. A cannon, placed just inside the fort's gates belched smoke and sent an iron ball rampaging through the oncoming Indian attack. The Indians horrified backed off long enough for the soldiers to reload.
The warship Republic sped to the rescue, but lodged itself on a shoal. Captain de Alva of the Republic ordered the shifting of guns on his ship to better kill the Indians. After five minutes, three guns on the ship were throwing shot into the Indians, who were now in the open.
Soldiers on the ground, too excited to load their weapons, began swinging them around, striking Indians in the head and chest.
Soldiers on the fort's bastions fired down into the fighting. At such close range, their fire was much more accurate.
The loud noise further horrofied the Indians. Captain Johnson drew his sword and shouted "Drive the savages out of the Fort!!! For Kaufmanstad!" Several arrows hit him in the chest, but shattered on his iron breastplate.

The whole 10,000 man milita was armed with long rifles. 500 of men were training. The whale ship Lanley was out at sea hunting for whales. The captain trusted running wolf but, some of running wolf men he didn't trust. So, it had every one on watch for a attack. The regular troops were in the stone fort on the island in the bay. OOC- I believe Muktar is the first tribe you will encounter, but im directly to his south. Please correct me if im wrong.

IC- Eagleeye looked around at his warriors in horror. They dropped everywhere, men he had faught with for years, men he respected, fell never to rise again. He shouted the order to fall backas another cannonball tore through his men. They fell back into the woods, leaving behind many a wounded man. When they got to the woods he felt a sharp pain in his thigh and realized a musketball had been lodged there. He dressed the wound and prepared the men to return to camp. they were now 154 men smaller, many others wounded. They wound need more support to succeed in this war, which was now irreversible.

By the time they returned to camp, the sun was setting. The elders were standing, waiting, expecting a report of glorious victory. they were shocked when they recieved the news.
"150 men?! But how?" they quickly gathered for a new meeting.
"The outsiders know of our intentions. We must move our camp immidiately. Group the warriors in case they arrive. We must move as soon as possible.
"What are we to do now?" One of the elders asked. "My tribe was promised victory."
"You will get your victory, but it will be harder than we once thought. We need to get the tribes of Muktar on our side. Send another messenger. Tell him where the camp will be for his return as well.Things have just gone from bad to worse.

OOC- although I don't think that a ship would have time to respond to an ambush I think i'll let it slide this time... especially having to shift the cannons like that. the battle would be long over by then. Can Captain Johnson have been killed or something? I think my warriors deserved at least that >:P

King Larry: In a previous post, I stated the position of Calvintown, which is directly across the river from New Stuville, and the presence of three warships at Calvintown. Besides, I shifted only three cannons. But to compromise, I will allow Johnson to die.
Legren: Remeber, no flint lock muskets! Only match locks. Wigs are cool. By the way, where is New Falshire in relation to a real life place?

IC:
The smoked cleared, the Indians were in full retreat.
"Three cheers for Kaufmanstad!!!" The men of New Stuville gave out three boistrous cheers. The women and children came out of the houses to cheer the victors, and mourn the dead. New Stuville had won a glorious victory, at least 150 off the savages were dead! However, 15 Kaufmanstaders lie dead. and 14 more were injured, the most seriously, was Captain Johnson.
"Kill them...Kill them all." then, he passed on. That evening, Johnson was buried next to the fort he had so bravely defended. Subsequently, the fort was renamed Fort Johnson.
Rage burned within the settlers. Governor Von Blenheim issued an order to keep tighter guard. Any Indians found within 150 yards of any settlement, without express permission from a fort commander, was to be shot on sight.
Jacob van Os, new commander of Fort Johnson and the town of New Stuville began formulating a plan to retaliate.

"I say, how much have they cleared so far?" he asked.
"Oh, I'd say about, ah...fifty yards square? 'bout that, sir"
"Good, when they get to eighty yards square, begin construction of the fort"
"Right you are, sir" the supervisor returned to harassing the woodcutters, "No slacking you bastards!"

The rythmic thump of hammers into wood reverberated through the clearing. Men with sledgehammers pounded wooden stakes into the ground, side by side, to form a wall around the clearing. There was to be one gate, protected by a drawbridge over a ten foot wide and six foot deep ditch, with a cannon-hole either side. The beach was a hundred-yard walk from the gate.

Second Expiditionary Force
May 22th 1612

We have made some progress along the coastline. Got food, water, and extra wood to plug in some leaks in the Yung Yang. However, that still does not account for the long stretches of beach we are passing by crowded with unknown trees. Some of the people on the Tung Ting voiced the idea of landing and establishing a colony wherever this coastline is. The majority voted for finding the settlement. According to the map that I have started, we have sailed about 300 leagues along this coastline without a spec or sight of human inhabitation. I am afraid that we will have to beach in the next 100 leagues to get some food and carve some oars in order to make up for the dwindeling wind we have. As for this coastline I have named it the Endless Woad Coast, given the amount of trees it has. I hope to the Father we find the colony in time.

Liutenant Pryce and fifteen Royal Marines marched northward along a yet unnamed river for nearly a week, making around twenty miles a day.
On the sixth day, a plume of smoke was spotted, and the small group made their way towards it.
The smoke was coming from a large fortified settlement, the ground around it strewn with bodies.
"Sir, have a look at this" called Private Jones, the youngest of the squad, "This bloke's got funny coloured skin!"
"I expect that's because he's Foreign, Jones." replied the Liutenant, "Foreigners are always a bit odd in some way. Stop dawdling"
Pryce walked towards the main gate of the fort.
"Hello?"he called, "Is there anyone in there?"
"Who the hell are you?" came a voice.
"I am Liutenant Harold Pryce of His Majesty King John the Fifth of Legren's Royal Navy. We landed some way south of here, and we're the exploration party"
"You're not an Indian?"
"A what?"
"A native. You're not a native?"
"No, I'm not"
There was a pause.
"You're sure you're not a native?"
"Quite sure. Are you going to open the gate?"
"No"
"May I ask why?"
"Not my job"
"Then who's is it?" Pryce was getting a little annoyed.
"'s the gatekeeper's job"
"Then would you go and fetch him?"
There were a few muttered noises, then nothing more for a few minutes.
"Hello? You still there?" called the man, again.
"Yes" replied Pryce.
"I've got the gatekeeper now"
"'ello" said the gatekeeper.
"Good, will you open the gate now?"
"Alright, alright, old on..."
There was a squeak, as of metal scraping against metal, and the clanking of chains. The gate swung slowly open, revealing two men, one short and stocky, and the other of normal size, holding a matchlock and wearing a battered steel helmet.
"About ruddy time" muttered Pryce.
"Wot?"
"Oh, nothing, sorry"
"You best come with me. The commander'l want to talk to you" said the taller man. "Your men can leave their weapons here, though"
"Sergeant Briggs?" called Liutenant Pryce.
Briggs, an experienced soldier saluted with textbook precision, "Sah?"
"Tell the men to disarm"
"Sah!" Briggs turned, "Squad! Dis-ARM!"
There was a clatter as the muskets were dropped into a heap on the ground.
Pryce returned his gaze to the gatekeeper, "We're ready. Might I ask, beforehand, what's the commander's name?"
"His name, is Commander Jacob van Os, but you're gonna have to call 'im 'sir'"

*with that, the gates slowly opened, they were very thick and slow, on the outside they were coated in a thin piece of iron as not to catch fire, Kerpel, his two guards, five Kihamerian men from the forrest, and Shifley and his men were lead through the town, they stoped again and another gate was opened, they continued and then they stoped. a normal sized door was heard open, and they were escorted inside, the cloth was lifted from their eyes, they were in a large room, to their back was a small door with many latches, and a few holes in the floor where the door could be re-inforced, the room had many doors to either side, there were a few penches lining the walls, some portraits, some paintings of epic battles, a few sets of horns, and some pelts, also there were many guards about. the men were lead down the hall, the floors were made of wood, they were lead to a door that had a plaque that read 'Dimitri Mishkin', the door was open and there was a medium sized, cozy room. there was a bed in the southwest corner of the room (they entered looking south), there was a desk in the middle, a bookcase on the western wall, a rug on the floor, three chairs infront of the desk, one behind the desk. all the furniture was Kihamerian Mahogony. to the south and southeast walls there were alot of windows showing a remarkable view of water that seemed endless. behind the desk sat a tall man, with a mustache, blue eyes and dark color haired, he was leaning over talking to someone who looked if they roamed the wilderness, the man behind the desk dissmissed him as Kerpel arrived with the foriegn colonists.*
"Welcome to the Kihamerian colony of New Kreiam, i am Dimitri."*said the man behind the desk.*

Liutenant Langley and his fifteen Marines walked through the woods. Langley was proud to be leading men, even if it was a patrol. A rustling noise to his left made him turn, but could see nothing in the foliage. A few minutes later the noise came again.
"Sergeant Phillips?"
"Sir!" Phillips saluted.
"Take two men off to the left of the track, I think I heard something"
"Aye, sir. Kelly! Harris! Get'ere!" The Sergeant bullied the two unfortunates through the bushes.
A sudden whistling sound, Harris grunted as he was struck by something, then fell.
"What the..ARGH! SHIT!" cried Sergeant Phillips, a two-foot long arrow sticking in his thigh.
Movement to the right.
"Make ready!" Shouted Langley, and thirteen wheels clicked back, "Movement to the right!" they aimed, "FIRE!". The volley plucked a pair of shadowed figures from their feet, "Reload!"
Kelly ran to Sergeant Phillips.
"Get off me you sod, I can walk! Go get Harris!"
Kelly picked up the unconcious Harris by his armpits and proceeded to drag him to the other Marines.
"He's got an arrow in his ribs, Sarge. We need to get him back to the surgeon"
"Uhm...Ah..." dithered Langley "I say, you there. Yes, you. Grab Harris' feet. We'll start back to Harrisonstown."
-------------------------
Mister Micklewhite, the Ship's Surgeon took a look at Harris, laid out on the operating table.
"Best hope that arrow's not barbed, young Harris. You're buggered if it is."
Micklewhite rummaged around in his bag for a probe. Upon finding it he focused on the recumbent Harris once more, delving into the flesh beside the arrow, pushing it out of the way...
-------------------------
Harris woke two and a half hours later. His lungs hurt each time he breathed.
"Good to see you concious, Harris" said Micklewhite, "Does it still hurt?"
"Does, sir, like icicles in my.."
"Yes, yes. It will"
"How long should I stay in bed, sir?"
"Give it a day or so. The cut is stitched, but don't try to do any lifting, and don't scratch it. Nothing gets better if you scratch it."

Since we are allies in the idea of friendship; I was wondering if you would partake in some trading. We lack the rudementary equipment of blacksmithery in the goal of assisting our good allies the A'tchui to a standard that we currently possess. In exchange for such goods, I would be willing to trade foodstuff, spears, and gunpowder that we have found on our lands. Since gunpowder is currently the mode of trade; I am willing to barter three barelles; each weighing 70 pounds. It would be escourted by our allies due to them knowing the land much more than us; and they would bear the seal of my name and my Lord.

To his Excellency, Captain T'sing T'sau Lang
Sir-
It would be my pleasure to trade with your people. Please direct your trading agents to our settlement at Jonestown. We have established a small iron works there and have produced around 150 iron bars each weighing around 75 pounds. We may not be able to trade all of these, however.
Recently, our town of New Stuville was subject to an Indian raid. However, the settlers of that town were able to repulse the attack. Would the people of the T'sing T'sau, or their Indian allies, be able to aid us in combating this enemy people. I have sent an envoy, one Robert de Winter to your colonial capital to discuss the possibility of a military alliance against these hostile Indians.

OOC: It's been several months since we started this thread, so anyone that has been around since May can now bring in resupply ships and more colonists. However, resupply ships may only consist of up to five vessels and up to 700 people.

IC: Arriving in the Great Bay (RL Chesapeake Bay) arrived four vessels, carrying hopeful new settlers and supplies to the land of Presidentsland. The ships were larger than those that brought the original settlers. There were 600 settlers altogether and boosted the population of New Stuville from 88 to 150, Jonestown from 90 to 120, and establishing two new towns, Marriottsville (RL Norfolk, VA), and Zimmersburg (RL Cape Charles, VA).
Unfortunately, one ship was separated from the fleet enroute to Presidentsland, and made land far to the south. The weather was warmer, the crops (sugar, tobacco) grew more abundanet. Here they decided to stay instead of continue to Presidentsland. They named the island Saint Gregory (RL Puerto Rico) and their town, they named Port Republic (RL San Juan).

EDIT: OOC: So where is New Falshire? Anyway, just to let you know, Kaufmanstaders are something of a German-Dutch-English mix.

IC: (To Legren) Van Os stepped out of his house into the courtyard in New Stuville. He wore a floppy brimmed hat and a well weathered breastplate. Van Os saluted the red coated strangers and extended his hand and gave Lt. Pryce a hearty hand shake.
"Greetings, gentlemen, I am Commander Jacob van Os of Fort Johnson. You men have, unfortunatley, joined us at a time of great strife. Two days ago, Indians attempted to destroy this town of New Stuville. fortunately, they attempted to rush our fort, but fired down on their heads from the bulworks and fired at them with our cannons. I am not the Governor of the colony, but I can call up a boat to ferry you over the April River to Calvintown, where you can find Governor Von Blenheim."
"I'm sorry to hear you are in the middle of a war, sir." replied Lt. Pryce.

If that's too far inland, or if it's out to sea, then we landed somewhere else and walked to where we are now. Also, though the Marines ARE wearing red, the officers are Naval officers, thus wearing Navy Blue, and the artillerymen back at Harrisonstown wear dark green.
As an Englishman, I would have absoloutely no idea where you were if you just told me the name of the RL place that you're at, so kindly say 'East Coast', 'West Coast' or 'Middle Bit' or something.

"May I present" called the speaker, "the Honourable Liutenant Harold James Pryce of His Majesty King John the Fifth of Legren's Royal Navy.
Liutenant Pryce took three steps forward into the brightly-lit room. In it's centre, seated behind a desk, was the black-bearded form of Govenor Von Blenheim.
"I have the honour, my lord, to present to you this letter" Pryce fished around in his pockets, eventually bringing out a somewhat crumpled envelope, which he handed to the govenor.

To the recipient of this letter.
Greetings, from the county of New Falshire. My name is Samuel Frederick Sylvester Harrison, and I am a captain in the Royal Navy of the Principality of Legren. Upon the twelfth of June, 1612, I and my fellow colonists landed upon the shores of the New World, claiming a portion of it in the name of Legren. We founded our village (Modestly named Harrisonstown), and began construction of shelters and defences. At this time we are most vulnerable to those who might wish us harm, and I ask you, the recipient, that you might help us in our time of need. I suspect that some of the grain and crops we brought on our journey will grow, but conditions here are different from my own land. Thus I ask that we establish a (mutually benificial) alliance, to trade together, and defend each other from the natives of this land. Any assistance in the form of local crops will be gratefully recieved, and I promise that once we are able to, it shall be repaid. I await your response with hope.

Cpt. Samuel Frederick Sylvester Harrison, temporary govenor of New Falshire.

I thank you for the affirmation of our friendship. I will confirm the shipment of the goods once you have sent a map of where the Jonestown settlement is. Upon the matters of warfare; my forces are extremely adept at light infantry tatics and are currently merging that with the expert hit & run traits that the A'tchui peoples are accustomed to. My ally within the A'tcuhi camp have offered their aide in locating possible locations of hostile tribes within the area but lack the coherency of their exact numbers. Please give this intelligence to your envoy once he leaves. Also; that the messenger of this letter will kindly act as his guide to this settlement.

I am curious to query the effectiveness of matchlock rifles within your way of force. My nation have utilized such weapondry for last resort, mainly depending on the crossbow for their means of artillery. If you do use the matchlock rifles as a common means to kill; how do you protect the bearer within the space of firing? A famous philosopher Dhuang Duhin once remarked that the time it took for a matchlock to fire was about the time that 4 bolts or 8 arrows could be fired.

May 27th 1612

Managed to pass the Northern Reaches of the Endless Woad Coast. Now we have spotted fields. We have managed to find a bay within these fields in order to rest from the sighted storms that will come in 1/2 turn (hour). There has been some argument of establishing a base here since the game seems so plenty. A cave system has been found in the bay we have docked in. I have taken liberty to call it George's Sound, with the cave bearing the name Tsing Gos, and the swamp near it Green Plain, due to the vast expanse it takes to the north and west. Good Father, help us to find the colony in time-

I've been lobbying, with success for more farmers in our colony, so we have a decent surplus if New Falshire needs it."
Von Blenheim walked around his desk and gave Pryce a hand shake and pat on the shoulder. "I imagine your men are exhausted, how about a celebration?"
The governor then ordered that the finest meat be found, and that some fish be caught for a feast. While waiting for dinner, Von Blenheim brought out two large kegs of the finest Kaufmanstad lager beer and told the New Falshire men to drink till they were full.

Captain Alexander James saw land on the horizon and gave a big sigh of relief. his two ships carrying less than 400 people together had been sailing for over a month. They had escaped from their country to get away from their phycopathic dictator. The two stolen ships were only just staying afloat after a storm they had hit a few days earlier and alot of the people on board had left the country hungry and ill and Alexander was worried that they were beyond being able to save. Almost 100 had been lost already. He headed for the land and landed on the west coast of america just above new york. At first it was food that was the most important thing but after loosing another 40 people the remaining started to get stronger and a wooden fort and a few houses was built. Alexander James knew that they needed weapons because they had none at all, even the ships did not have any cannons. He sent out a serch party to find the nearest colony. There were signs of natives everywhere and James knew if they decided to attack then his people would not stand a chance.

"So, it seems you come in peace, one way or another, could you like to discuss a peace treaty between our colonies Mr. Shifley ?"

ic3(in my colony's port): *five ships slowly sailed into the colony's waters, and to the docks that were built, three were supply ships, two were war ships, the three supply ships set anchor and droped their planks on the docks, the crews were amazed, this was a entirely new place for them, and a colony had been built and was self-suffecient there, 100 people started to come down the planks and to the colony, 80 new colonists and twenty soldiers. on another ship some dock workers were called over and farming meterials of all sorts was unloaded, mainly seeds. on the third supply ship however things were differant, the planks had rails on them, and the ships had higher rails on the sides, the main deck of the ship had been reconstructed for this purpose, the crew moved a large pieces of the deck out of the way, and then lowered in ramps, and slowly but surely something came up....cows. the ship was made to carry livestock, and it carried livestock, cows were hastily taken up the ramps and down to the pier, and into the colony, for a long time the main meat was chicken meat, but now there were cows. but cows were not the only thing, pigs and sheep were also unloaded, they were unloaded quickly and pins were built for them, after most of the cows were off, and the hull of the ship nearly empty, more men were called down, with ropes, and a short time later they were bringing horses, 7 were there as one had died on the trip, but seven mustang horses were brought out of the hold, and taken into the colony, a vacant house was used to store them in, these were not thinken of very highly back in Kihameria, but in the colony the horses were cherised.*

"It is my opinion that we should attack at night. With the A'tchui as guides, we shall find one of the enemy Indian's villages, seize their corn reserves, burn their fields and village. Keeping killing to a minimum."

"Anyway, yes, we would like to discuss a treaty. I have been enabled to help draw up one as I see fit, though, you understand, it must be approved. But I'm sure it will, as Governor Churchill would like to establish contact.
"Now, first I think we should pledge we will not attack the other, a basic.

"Peace is basic, we wont attacked you if you wont attack us. We are a mostly self-suffecient colony however, we have scouts mapping the land and it is reported there is plentiful iron and coal. i understand most other countrys use gold a s a form of trade, in Kihameria we dont use as much gold, we trade goods and supplies. we have a few farms in our walls, and a shipment of livestock should have come in by now, and of course we fish. You and youre men were found by scouts around our wooding area so we do not need wood. As i am aware our colony is fine, but i am not a merchant, for trading i suggest you talk to the traders and merchants in the streets. A man coughed a very obvious cough and stared very hard at the man who had spoken as if he was A'tchui. He turned to the head man and spoke:

"Good sir, thy hast no knowledge that I'st seen of our lands. Yet, by the flow that the Father did allow in the waters of His Being, I wilt try the very best that I hast been charged wit."

He quickly took out a roll of paper and placed it on the table. On the map were several markings of a coastline quite piereced with several bays, islands, and rivers. Some writings were done linking several dots along the bay with the farmost southern point with an arrow pointing to it.

"What thy hast before thee ist a mappe auf de velt. Thy do see thy marking auf thy sun's ray. That ist A'tchui Lands, and the Singsaus. Vir call Home. Yet, by the flow of Father's Being, our people is very lake-like. He turned to his guide, pointing to a large fortress some yards away.

"Is that Calvintown?" he asked.

"Would you still be able to aid us in our fight against the raiders that attacked this town? We would be very willing to compensate your people for your help."

On the April River:
"Is that Calvintown?" asked Sir Zack Mingot.
"Aye, sir, that it is." replyed the boatman.
The great wooden fortress presented itself first. Fort Blenheim was triangular in shape and housed the 30 professional soldiers in the colony. Beside the fort lay Calvintown, home to three hundred people. Farms spread out around the town, which was located on a peninsula on the river. The town was very well planned with straight streets and a two docks. As the boat came closer, an official honor guard comprised of Kaufmanstad soldiers in gleaming breastplates and helmets, armed with pikes and flags greeted Sir Mingot. A cannon shot from the fort greeted the envoy's boat.

At Port Republic, Island of St. Gregory (RL San Juan, Puerto Rico)

"Now then, let's discuss where these enemy Indians came from..."

On the April River-
The boatman laughed. "It's a salute sir! There wasn't even a ball in that shot! Calm yourself!"
Sir Mingot wiped his forehead and rolled his eyes. When the boat reached Calvintown, Colonel Marcus Stimple of Fort Blenheim greeted the envoy and welcomed him to Calvintown. This was followed by Governor Johann von Blenheim's greeting.

She leads him out of the main hut and to a hut nearby. It's small, only enough room for a few people to sit or lay down. "Blanket and headpad inside. Sunfall soon."

"Well, word 'mongst my folk doth do tell of a northern tribe by the name of the Uk'ar, whom doth beith auf of a hostile nature. Thy fortitude of anger doth hail from wes'tard of thy buttresses of wood" he said, tracing a crescent shape some distance away from the mark of the Kaufmanstad colony.

"So" said Sir Mingot, "Will additions for my staff come later? And when will be a good time in whence dealings of an economic nature can be held? Captain Lang is most anxious in addressing the matter about the matchlock tactics."

"From the North, eh?" said Van Os. "Very well, here's my plan, I want you to give me your opinion on it. I want to find one of their more populous villages, and burn it. I also want to seize their corn reserves." Van Os paused to make sure everyone understood. "We will be traveling light, no breastplates, just helmets for protection, we will have our muskets, but in addition, we will have knives. Finally, we will attack at night."

At Calvintown-
"I have appointed Mr. James de Witt to be your secretary, and Miss Angela Hammond to be your servant." the Governor stopped and thought. "As to discussing economic issues, I am planning on calling this colony's first legislature. I invite you to attend the General Assembly of Presidentsland."
Every town received three representatives in the General Assembly, the towns are Calvintown (300), Jonestown (200), New Stuville (200), Marriottsville (189), Zimmersburg (189). The Assembly met in the church in Calvintown and after the Governor's speech opening the Assembly, Sir Zack Mingot was invited to say a word or two.

The A'tchui balked, then regained his composition.

"Thy good sir, dost thy see'st our numbers here? Under belief and goodwill of our dear'st good'st friends the Singsaus, we did'st beleive that this was an advisement, for hath our numbers are school size- a mere two hands, and only half be in th' condition of war. If thy intention ist of a good nature and a good hand, thy wilt allow more time to staff and embold your club so much success be in your.....calabash?"

With this, the A'tchui quickly patted himself, and brought out a small leather bound book. He quickly flipped through it.

I should think we will have to move more inland, but this is seems to be a large land, so I see no need for us to come into conflict with the Indians. I hope we can come into contact with them soon. We would so like to learn their culture and ways."

Van Os grew impatient. "All I need is your help to get to one of their villages. Kaufmanstad needs to strike back and we need to do it now, even if it means a small raid. I want these Indians, the, uh, Muktar, to know we mean business. What is this book?"

Calvintown-
The Governor sat down "Ah, yes, the A'tchui. These Indians are helping us with an Indian problem." Von Blenheim sighed. "You may have noticed the worn state of Fort Johnson at New Stuville. That town was attacked by Indians, we are not sure which tribe. However, envoys from the A'tchui tribe are meeting in secret with Fort Johnson's new commander, Jacob van Os. I will summon them." The governor got up to allow Sir Mingot to settle in to his new home and become acquainted with his new secretary and servant.
"To let you know, the Presidentsland General Assembly meets in two days."

The A'tchui suddenly noticed the silent eyes staring at him and quickly shut the book.

"Very well good sir. For such a deed to be carved in stone, may my men possess boom sticks, turtle shells that thy dost wear, and some long knives?"

The A'tchui paused then frowned. "I see naught a book 'low your hands"

Calvintown-
Wondering about beer, Sir Mingot remembered the brewery in town pointed out to him on the tour. There, the brewers had waiting several kegs and casks of beer. Sir Mingot got two of them and had a townsman help him push it.
Kaufmanstad beer was a dark beer. Sir Mingot found a mug in his home and poured himself a healthy drink.

Sir Mingot groaned. He regreted all the beer he had drunken the night before. He tried to sit up. That brought further pain.

"arrggggg...." he said, his head in his hands.

Just then, the door opened, revealing a very attractive woman adorned in a brown smock.

"Who the duece are you?" he asked.

"Sir- I am your new secretary and you are late for the meeting" she said, putting a large dish of some liquid on to his bearue. (sp?)

An A'tchui native appeared in the doorway of the armory. Flanking on his right and left side were other natives, clothed in leather jerkins and armed with crossbows and clubs. The headman walked towards the man behind the desk, took out a book, and flipped to a page.

"Goodman" he said, looking up from his book, "I have sought your aide in armoring my men. War doth ply our trade and the needed quills are 24 matchlocks, 48 turtle shells, 20 long knives, and 40 half arrows."

One of the members of the A'tchui's entourage smacked his head, went to his commander, flipped the page, and pointed something out.

"Bolts" the A'tchui commander said, after giving a nasty glare to his adjuant.

Angela Hammond, Sir Mingot's new servant, rolled her eyes as she helped the envoy prepare for his appearance at the General Assembly. She was young and beautiful, recently arrived from Kaufmanstad. She enjoyed the New World, but found it difficult dealing with the hungover envoy.
However, Miss Hammond succeeded in getting Sir Mingot ready and arrived at Calvintown's church in time to meet with James de Witt, Mingot's secretary.
"The Governor is almost done his speech opening the General Assembly, after that, the Assembly will elect a speaker." de Witt helped Mingot to his seat.

Van Os supervised the arming of his men and of the A'tchui. The armorer of New Stuville carefully recorded the dispersal of arms.
"Gentlemen, prepare yourselves today, for tonight, we raid those Muktar Indians that so brutally attacked us!" Three boistrous cheers rose from the 20 Kaufmanstaders that would be on the attack.

Governor Johann von Blenheim approached the pulpit in the Calvintown church, took off his hat, and unfolded his speech.
"Gentlemen of Presidentsland, today you begin a tradition of democracy that began in our homeland of Kaufmanstad. I sense that this prestigous body will bring prosperity and wisdom to our colony. At this time, I relinquish my legislative authority, given to me by the Congress of Kaufmanstad to plant this colony, and pass it on to the First General Assembly of the Colony of Presidentsland. I wish every delegate here luck, and may God grant us wisdom to lead us in the right direction."
After the Governor had resumed his seat in the front row, the General Assembly, which was comprised of 15 delegates, elected a Speaker, who would also act as secretary of the Assembly.
This was followed by various acts of legislation dealing with land surveys, livestock regulations, a rough judicial system, and the sending of correspondence to Port Republic, St. Gregory, far to the south.
Finally, a motion was passed to allow Sir Zack Mingot to speak before the General Assembly.

New Stuville-
A heavily frustrated Van Os read the cryptic note and stuffed it in his pocket. He stormed off to his home and had dinner with his wife, Cressida. Van Os than turned in for the night, to ready himself for the next night's raid.
