Islandian troops, pending the not-so-wise move by Phyrric, have been ordered out of the combat zone. All special forces teams have been withdrawn, and we will let Phyrric clean up by themselves.

if anything, u should have used 15thousand pound bombs; those things are the next closest thing to nukes....

[Thanks Knoot, I knew it wasn't anywhere near as bad as it was being made out to be.

NOTE Concerning Fallout: Fallout is the real problem with fission and fusion bombs, but the bigger the bomb is the longer it takes to settle and the more widespread it is.]

Agrigentian Troops remain mobilized and will continue to fight alongside our UnAPS allies. Thankfully we had no troops deployed near the impact and fallout areas. While we officially and vigorously condemn the actions of Phyrric we will push on to total victory without the unprovoked use of nuclear weapons, or other weapons of mass destruction.

OOC: well good, I was waiting for someone to post the blast size, normally it's the one that drops the bomb that is supposed to do that, but, what the hey.

All throughout Axackal the Retaliatory Guard about face and head back to their transports. No word is made to the 'allied' forces in the area. Command General Ring can be heard ordering his men to "Get back to the Atlases, if ANYONE stands in your way or impedes you , KILL THEM. There is no telling who our allies are!"

Immediately out at sea the 5 Battlegroups and 4 Carriergroups in the area move in to cover the Atlases, guns trained at ALL ships in the area and against Axackal and Scandavian States shore emplacements. Admiral Ilek does hail and make a brief statement to the allied commanders.

"Gentlemen, due to the developing circumstances our forces are vacating the area. They will be returning via the same routes they were deployed. Any attempt to impede our troops will be considered an act of war, any obstacles placed in our way will be removed. I am very disappointed in having to leave under these circumstances, but the Supreme Republica Commander does not trust any of our allies at the moment. The enemies of the Republic know who they are, and they will rot in hell. My Life for the Republic."

OOC: Casualties (adjusted for blast area) 32,563 Retliatory Guard 800 Red Jaguar, 110 HIND helicopters, 86 Warthog ground support.

"Oh, I'm going to KILL the reactor tech crew."

Rear Admiral George Vilnius stared across the bow of his 3-million-ton fusion-powered supercarrier, the KNS Infidel, at the charred remains of what had been a few days ago the Pyria Naval Station's fusion reactor.

Cursing his luck and hoping his crew would be safe from any lingering radiation, Vilnius ordered the behemoth ship into the main channel. It wasn't easy; you couldn't just hit the gas and careen through the channel with a ship that was almost a kilometer long.

"Full astern, starboard screws three and four. Make revolutions for 15 knots, portside screws three and four. Rudder right five degrees."

The carrier shuddered as all four of her normal propellers started turning, fusion reactors shunting additional steam to starboard propellers 3 and 4 to open the reverse poppet valves and spin the shafts the opposite way.

The power of the pulling starboard engines and the pushing port engines in concert with the rudder moved the ship's bow to the right...slowly.

Even with 1.1 million SHP from the reactors, the ship still couldn't maneuver worth a damn in tight spaces. Out in open seas, she'd make 40+ knots easily... but, Vilnius wondered, what if we were attacked at dockside?

He put that thought aside; he still had almost a nautical mile's worth of channel to navigate. Behind him, the other ships of his fleet were also coming from their moorings into the channel.

Vilnius watched the tugboats maneuver down the channel alongside his ship, ensuring that no other ships came up the channel. The Infidel had to have the entire channel to herself, because boats coming upstream against her tended to...crash.

It took nearly an hour for the Infidel to clear the channel at 5 knots. Upon reaching open seas she spun all her screws up to flank in order to clear the mouth for the remaining ships to exit.

Vilnius ordered the pumpjet propulsors brought online, and the maneuvering screws shut down. Impellers drew water in at scoops mounted on the bottom of the ship's bow and thrust it out of high-pressure jet tubes above the keel.

The whine of the screws abruptly ceased, and was replaced with a deep, sour thrumming noise. Slowly the ship's speed built up to 5 knots... 10 knots.. go faster, Vilnius urged his ship- until the ship had acquired full steerageway and could maneuver freely in the deep waters off the Kelanis coast.

The Infidel's knife-edged bow sliced a furrow in the water, and the ship left behind a 300-meter wide wake that looked like a phosphorescent streak in the semidarkness of dawn.

The Third Fleet was under way.

The Republic of Austar Union: Anatoba: Capital Hill
-------------------

The President had only just been informed of the events which had unfolded in Axackal.

"Sir, a nuclear warhead has gone off in Axackal.", reported his Secretary of Defense.
"Dear god, who set it off?", replied President Richard.
"They say it was Phyrric Sir. Phyrrus has apparently gone insane."
Richard pauses, "What is the casualty count so far?"
His SecDefense looked down, "Uh, sir, we had no casualties. Oh, three fighters crashed because the pilot got distracted, but nothing directly. The blast hit mostly Alleneans sir, but there was a lot of friendlies in the area though..."
"Dear lord, where are our troops in Haven now?", asked the President.
"Sir, we havent deplloyed them yet. In fact, they were 3 days away from being deployed. That order has been cancelled sir. Lucky our boys werent injected."
"OK, I want to draft a letter off to the Alleneans, and I also want to issue a statement of condemnation to Phyrrus.", said the President.
The Secretary of State, who had been quiet until now, spoke up, "Uh, I get right on that sir...."

------------------
To: The Allenean Federal Government
Subject: The Nuclear Blast and Allied Responses
------------------

It is a grave day for both UnAPS and your own nation, when the likes of Phyrric decides to drop a 20-Megaton Warhead onto your troops. We too, are shocked and appauled at Phyrrus's rash desision, and we will shortly our diplomat James Kennedy to survey the situation. We hope that although our two nations at war, we can cooporate in this matter.

We would like to also offer your troops, and people the aid they will badly need after suffering such a nuclear attack. We can send 15 Nuclear Response Teams (NRT), which complete roles such as Survivor Searching, Radiation Treatment, and Radiation Removal. Although they are not the greatest, they are all we can offer your people.

We hope you see us on the same footing.

Yours Truly,

James Madison
Secretary of State

--------------------
Official Statement of Condemnation of Phyrric

How can we truly trust an ally, if the likes of them risk our own destruction? Phyrric is a well known nation on the world stage, why would you want to destroy the reputation of both yourself, and your allies in UnAPS. Already, people are laughing at UnAPS.... Alas, we cannot say anymore, nor will we waste our time sending a condemnation to the likes of you....
Phyrric

Official response to UnAPS and NS.

There is no regret for the actions that had taken place as it is a means to the end that was not otherwise to be accomplished. The leaders of UnAPS were fishing and desiring a war, and they found one, no matter the cost.

Now there is a cease fire, not because of their actions and their diplomacy, but because of what Pyrrhus has decided. Negotiations had broke down and as the Secretary of War, this was used as a diplomatic means. As this is being cursed and proclaimed an assault on humanity, it is no less than the blood thirsty members of UnAPS that were calling for war without the means to discuss or plan the situation out.

Even as of now, they are still uncertain on how to handle this crisis. As I have dropped a weapon of mass distruction, it did accomplish the very essence on what should have been negotiated in the first place. UnAPS has failed in this arena as was anticipated, they are now willing to sit at the table of negotiations. Not because of their own accord or actions, because Pyrrhus forced them to.

Curse this nation as you see fit, but it will be remembered who stopped this mass killing that UnAPS was so eager to do, just at an extremely slower pace. I killed thousands and thousand of lives yesterday, but that is a small number compared to what UnAPS wanted and desired to kill. You have called a ceasefire, not on your own accord, but because of my will. Remember this always.

It was Pyrrhus that negotiated with the allied members of Allanea, and asked them to stand down, leaving Allanea to stand alone for the slaughter that was to follow by the warmongering alliance known as UnAPS. It was Pyrrhus that was the last to mobilize in an offensive to fight side by side by its allies in this time of need, even when voices of reason were not to be heard. It was Pyrrhus that ended this war when UnAPS was unable to do so by their own means. It is Pyrrhus that told UnAPS to go f**k themselves.

Response to Phyrric address:

Any person who does not feel remorse over the loss of lives is a monster, even Lenin had this basic human quality. We called a cease fire because it was the humane thing to do in the aftermath of this genocide, our soldiers are attending the wounded of allies and Allaneans alike. Rest assured, however, that this war will not end until every last Allanean leaves or is driven out of Axackal, at the very least.

As the nation of Phyrric shows no remorse for the lives taken, nor shall we if Ilek-Vaad does what it has threatened to do.

Phyrric, you have made UnAPS to be a "warmongering alliance", yet this is the first war in the name of the alliance. Where do you get the basis for such arguments? Doujin officially condemns the act of Phyrric, and will support any ally who sees fit to make war on Phyrric, or any other political / economical sanction.

OOC: Kelanis, do you know how much the draft of a 17 million ton ship would be? Assuming its around 1000 metres long, and 350 metres wide.. it would have a draft of 200m, thats 666.6 ft! Phyrric launched nuke! Toran-Matilda Division wiped out.

Allanea-Axackal border--. 20 hours ago on this stretch of land, the TM Division Command lost contact with the 200 Tactical Neutralization Teams(numbering 2800 Special Forces members) nearing the Allanea-Axackal border to support the UnAPS forces there. A nuclear blast was heard 5 minutes before an ensuing conversation with the 22nd TNT group and TM Division Command was broken. Sources have reported the nation of Phyrric had launched a nuclear weapon on this border. The TMD command is not available for comment at this moment.

Matilda--. The Governor of Matilda City-State, Mikael Gorudo, was angered and furious by the move of the nation of Phyrric.
"What were they thinking when they did that? It's pure massacre. I'm withdrawing my support to the Akiros Forces!" Officially effective today, Matilda is no longer sending troops in support of the Akiros and UnAPS forces in the war effort. Now, only two city-state armies are still present. The Harmonia Division of 5,000 Abrams Tanks and 98,000 GIs were practically safe from the nuclear blast since they were still nearing Axackal. The L'Renoville-Muse battlegroup has reported 15 fighter jets have lost contact with the LM Command while doing their standard reconnaisance missions near the border.

Dominion Palace, L'Renoville--. The High Judicator has placed the National Army on high alert and ordered them to round up every Phyrric citizen or descendant and be placed in designated camps for reprocessing and revalidation of their stay in the CSD of Akiros. Rarely has been the National Army been called to duty as the 16 city-state armies are the ones designated with defense. In the meanwhile, the Dominion Council has changed Akiros' position in the war. "We'll help clean the nuclear sh*t by Phyrric", said Gov. Jowy Atreides of L'Renoville.

Across Axackal and the Scandavain States the Retaliatory Guard traced their steps back to their Atlas Transports to be returned to Ilek-Vaad. The Assembled Battlegroups formed a cordon at the docks for the Atlases to move ion and out one at a time to retrieve the Retaliatory Guard, along with the dead and the wounded they carried.

Command General Ring leaned on the cupola of his Chok-Mool as his troops marched by

"This is bleddy fecking ridiculous! Motherfecking savgaes and their nuclear weapons. Turning the Allanean flank was a masterpiece, a fecking MASTERPIECE.!"

He paused as the 'Beacent' the banner of the revered Purifiers bobbed by, the Purifiers singing 'Men of Coventry' as they marched, their faces grim, and uncharacteristically, angry.

General Ring nodded and saluted as the 'Beaucent' went, it's silver field with the black maltese cross flapping in the wind. "FOR THE VAAD!" he shouted, the Purifiers paused and saluted "FOR THE VAAD"

*****

In Costa Tula a group of Atlases sat at dock, near them is the Battleship Tetzcatlipoca. The 1st Red Jaguar Command was loading into the Tetzcatlipoca, the white banner with the broken sword and the comet being raised over it, to signify the prescence of the Supreme Republican Command.

Through the streets of Costa-Tula stream the two final Retliatory Guard Armies, the Eagles and The Twisted Serpent. They moved deliberately towrds the Atlases.

The Supreme Republican Commander stood on the Teztcatlipoca his face set and grim

"Mirai, order my Red Jaguar to drink their Ixpei, order them that when we get to Prophet no Allanean is to be spared. Order them to pile corpses from here to the sun and to burn the enemy upon the altars of Teztcatlipoca. Give them all the blessing of the Tlatloni. Order them to sell their lives and meet me in the underworld. War is hell, and I am Satan, I will finish this."

His Staff Seargent nodded and went below, she could already hear the Red Jaguar doing the circle dance in anticipation of being unrestrained.

OOC: Downsizing the ship to 2 million tons loaded? This ruins the idea of the ship. No, it needs to be larger. Rather than downsize the ship to a midget carrier (I might as well install oil-fired boilers in it), I think I'll retool the stats to make it longer and wider.... a lot.

A bright flash engulfed the Fleet, as the nuclear warhead detonated hundreds of miles away - yet even visible out in the sea.

"What.. the f---.. was that.."

"I don't know, sir."

"Contact Military HQ, get a confirmation on whatever that was."

"Aye, sir."

The Admiral sat in his chair and started looking at spy satellites of Atlantic Island.

"Admiral, we are getting a communication. It's our reinforcements."

"Hot diggity."

The Admiral stood up and walked over to the communications panel.

"This is Admiral Miller, we are glad to see ya. We are relaying data to all ships arriving, be prepared."

"Roger that, Admiral."

The Admiral walked over to another control panel and ordered the Lieutenant operating it to relay the data from the spy runs to the arriving fleet.

The Celestial Empire has been closely monitoring the situation and the doings of the ones who dub themselves UnAPS. It has come to our attention that nuclear weaponry has been used against your nations, which represents to us a fortunate casus belli to offer you some 'humanitarian' assistance in 'cleaning' operations.

The Empire has been long aware of the doings of the ones UnAPS and wishes to see their threat gone from the face of this blessed world.

A detachment of the Celestial Naval Forces has been readied awaiting further orders and some 'cargo' ships containing 'humanitarian aid' have been prepared.

General Richard smiled, "The Alleneans are wise. Im glad they chose not to resort to nuclear retaliation. What do you suggest we do?"

His advisor nodded, "Well sir, we have about a million troops ready for injection. I believe that if we can place maybe half in Axackal, we can push them back all the way to the border."

"Very well,", replied the General, "Send half a million troops to Axackal. But keep the other half on this island as reserves...."

Within a few hours, troops were being unloaded onto the Axackal beaches. It would take a few weeks for all of them to arrive, but they went to the front to combat the Alleneans nevertheless, just to prevent them from moving further into the area.

OOC: At the moment, there are now some 50 000 Austarian troops now in Axackal. They have gone to the frontlines. In Axackal

Because the nuclear explosion was centered on the Penal Battalions, several miles in front of the regular forces, the Regular Arny suffered casualties of only 20,000 men. The advance on the UNAPS aggressors, decimated by their own nuclear weapons, began.

OOC: What TOTAL numbers of UNAPS troops now?

Allanean Warbiker and Scout Bike brigades (20,000 men) started a guerilla hit-and-run campaign on the Edolian rear, backed up by hundreds of Jason Voorhoosen Helicopters sent from Deriksburg.

The Hannibal Lector tanks, Black Eagles, SU-34's and KL-55's that were previously employed against Ilek-Vaad were now relentlessly pounding the Edolians.

Victory was at hand.

Allanean Troops use Raysian Mark III protective gear, and are protected by the hulls of APC's and so forth. Also, they were much more spread out Ilek-Vaad troops, no way there were many of them killed.

OOC: Allenea: My troop deployment should take a few weeks / 1 RL day.

Troops had been sent to Axackal non-stop. Already, some 100,000 troops have been transported, and sent to the front. Even though they were some 10km from the border so far, they had encountered very little Allenean Resistance. It had seemed that the Alleneans had not sent their troops to cross the border so far. With the troops, a regular assortment of vehicles and systems included mobile SAM units, and tanks....

Ahead of the troops being sent, Fighters raced ahead to provide added air support. (200 Harrier Fighter/Bombers). Above the troops, who were racing towards the border, Helicoptors were flying overhead. Not too many, but enough to provide substantial air-support.

In the meantime, a temporary airbase has been established in far western Axackal, which holds many of the Austarian air systems.

A patriot missile system was also being installed by Austarian Engineers in Axackal, hoping that the Edolians wouldnt mind...

The 151st, 153rd, and 155th Mechanized Infantry Divisions were effectively destroyed by the blast, only their artillery and helicopters remained. However, their strength was reinforced by the remainder of the Imperial Army and Marine Corps. Seventeen divisions and eight special forces regiments were within thirty miles of the former front, forming for the push that would finish any Allanean resistance in Axackal. The special forces regiments would be the supporting infantry for the initial combat, their Mk.1 St. Ives Battle Armour over their NBC skinsuits would allow them to fight in the hostile conditions. Once they engaged the enemy, the infantry would spill out of their transports and kill anything that resembled a human and moved. They might pay a heavy price for it, but they would win.

[Of course, this information is secret unless you can explain how a spy walked through miles of radioactive wasteland and got through my SF regiments to gather troop strength statistics. Also, the Mk.1 SIBA is post-modern, basically a full-body BLEEX with a different power source and covered with several different kinds of armour, so you don't have to worry about some uber-indestructable futuretech BA (regular infantry assault rifles aren't going to be very effective, though, but that's going to be the only hint you get.]

OOC: This attack is only on the Edolians and those forces already linked with them, not the Scandavians which have yet to arrive.
The Axackalian Border

The Allanean troops begin what probably is the biggest assault in the war's history.

First, 1,700 SU-34's pound the Edolians with fuel-air explosives.

Then, really loud music starts playing on the horizon.

A long line of Allanean tanks (2,500 Hannibal Lector tanks, 1000 Cougar tanks, 3,000 Black Eagle tanks), APC's (over 170,000 various APC's and IFV's, from the outdated BTR-85's to the cutting-edge Volks), and Rolling Fortress trucks, moves towards the Edolians in a long, long line, as KL-55 assault helicopters fly overhead.

The first words of the song begin reaching the enemy.

Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord
He is trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored,

An Edolian screams in fear, his cry almost inaudible over the roaring of the hundreds of speakers and voices of thousands of Allaeans singing along.. Heads turn to look at what he just saw - the Warbikers and Scouts, approaching the Edolian ranks from behind at top speed. Above them are several hundred Jason Voorhoosen helicopters, stretched out along the horizon.

I have seen Him in the watch-fires of a hundred circling camps
They have builded Him an altar in the evening dews and damps
l can read His righteous sentence by the dim and flaring lamps
His day is marching on

Thousands of ATGM's erupt from the BMP's, warbikes, scout vehicles, helicopters, trucks, targeting anything that moves.

The tanks launch cannon-launched missiles.

I have read a fiery gospel writ in burnish`d rows of steel,
"As ye deal with my contemners, So with you my grace shall deal;"

Fuel-air explosives, low-area EMP bombs, and MRLS missiles rain out from the sky [OOC: We only have 200 MRLS launchers, but still...]

As He died to make men holy, let us die to make men free,
While God is marching on.

Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
His truth is marching on.

Whether or not there are military forces on the Goobergunchian border will of course affect my choices. :D )

(OOC: It's OK if this isn't responded to until Edolia posts. Anyway, I'm assuming that you're either averting the worst of the radiation and/or are providing protection.)

Goobergunchia:
(OOC: No movements on this front; simply RP. Troops moving in Axackal later in the post.)

Sitting from his headquarters at the Goobergunchian front, Ricardo Johnson received the report with grim attention. The Allaneans were launching a massive ground assault in Axackal. With most of Mintar's troops behind the border, it would be hard to support their allies. But Mintar wasn't completely helpess in Axackal; Ricardo had made sure of that...

Turning away from his plans to move through in to Allanea, Ricardo got in to contact with the leading officers in Axackal...

Axackal:

(OOC: Troop movements...)

20,000 of the best soldiers hop in to combat vehicles and speed off to the front, followed closely by the 2,000 tanks (1,750 Imperiums, 250 Manticore II). They might not reach the front just then, but they would be sure to have an effect before the battle was over...

Meanwhile, 50,000 of the infantry prepare to move on by foot, they may not reach the battle in time, but they might at least be able to reinforce retreating forces.

The remaining 5,000 soldiers dig in to guard the artillery, which promptly begin to shell Allanean forces (650 artillery). DTS-2 missile systems are in place as well, although at this range they cannot fire on Allanean forces.

From the air 250 Comanches take off, preparing to fire anti-tank missiles. The newly arrived fighter and bomber planes take off as well; the Rocs prepare to carpet-bomb the area, while the F-117x's (1,500 of each plane) drop anti-tank missiles. The 3,000 Hellions fire both on the helicopters as well as an remaining SU-34's.

Recap:

20,000 troops coming via combat vehicle
1,750 Imperium tanks + 250 Manticore II tanks coming at top speed
650 Artillery firing

50,000 troops slowly marching to the front
remaining 5,000 digging in with artillery + missile systems.

3,000 Hellions attacking helicopters + SU-34's
1,500 Rocs bombing
1,500 F-177x's dropping anti-tank missiles & other weapons
250 Comanches firing anti-tank missiles

(OOC: Once again, you can respond to Axackal along w/Edolia's reponse. However, I still need a confirmation about Goobergunchia, & whether, since my attacks only killed civilians, there are any military forces guarding the Goobergunchian border. Thanks. :D )

Tanks and infantry might not have been able to respond to the assault, but helicopters and artillery could. Those helos that could immediately respond, four airborne divisions worth, lept into the air and rushed to the front. Staying low to the ground constantly moving, 1,520 KL-60 Wasp and 456 KL-77 Salamander helos began engaging the tanks. The Wasps were loaded with twenty-five Drakon ATGMs, a Scandavian-designed triple-warhead missile with a ten-mile range designed to deal with layered NERA and ERA on tanks. The Salamanders went after APCs and bikes first, conserving their more limited ATGMs for whatever might be left after the Wasps were done with the tanks.

At the same time the divisional artillery of the four divisions, thirty-six 155mm ETC Galahad howitzers and eighteen Morgan MLRS pieces per division, provided counter-battery support. The very act of firing gave the Allanean artillery away to divisional counter-battery radar and for that mistake they were pounded into the ground.

While the relatively light retaliation was commencing the Scandavian infantry and armour were scrambling to come to the assistance of the Edolians. 2,826 other Galahads and 954 other Morgans were the first to target the main line of attack with FAE shells and missiles, each spending their full compliment of five volleys. While this was happening, a call went out to the Edolians to fall back at best speed fifteen miles to a newly forming Scandavian line consisting of thousands of tanks, IFVs, and infantry. Helicopters were also spooling up to provide transport for the airborne infantry and cover for the new line.

[I don't know if I've said this before, but the Morgan is a four missile MRLS system, so five volleys is going to be twenty missile per MLRS, or 19,080 FAE missiles. This attack would come after the initial wave of helos did their damage. Also, the Salamanders would be carrying the standard anti-tank load described on Geforce4's thread. I can dig it up if you'd like. It should go without saying that I'm expecting massive casualties with four divisions worth of helos and twenty divisions worth of artillery firing on your troops, and I don't mean this bit 20,000 here and there. Realistically, with the entire ordinance that is flying (38,000 ATGMs from the Wasps alone), your entire tanks force should be wiped out, your infantry losses should be at the very least a quarter million, and I'll let you decide you IFV losses but they should be fairly close to proportional.]

Admiral Ilek had his orders to make sure that the Retliatory Guard were removed from Axackal safely, but that would take days. He turned to the captain "Captain, order all ships to bombard the Allanea forces in Axackal, order the carriers to deploy their Orions."

The 4 Battlegroups present began shelling the Allanean positions. The 3 Carriergroups launched their (combined) 740 Orion fighters. The Air Guard 1500 Orions in the area also re-deployed, supporting the Carrier Groups. The Combined Battleships, destroyers , cruisers and frigates shell the Allanean offensive with 2,200 cruise missles. The 8 Revenge Battleships also hit them with their 30in high-velocity guns (6 on each) literally destroying the ground the Allaneans are advancing on.

Each Orion is capable of launching 8 Air-surface missles, which they all do. For a combined 17,920 missles attacking Allanean armour, vehicles and formations.

Allanea: Apologies. I was supplied with... errant... information for my scale ship and winded up producing a ship waay too big. The issue has now been resolved and the carrier is a mean, lean, 3mil ton machine with a 16.6 meter draft... rather than 200.
Hopefully this takes care of the...obesity.
I am eager to join in the RP.

Approximately 80 nautical miles due south of Atlantic Island

"Drop two hundred and fire for effect!"

The KNS Talladega's aftermost quad battery of 6in two-stage assisted cannons (aka 'conventional railguns') comes to port as the ship heels violently to bring mainland to broadside.

The familiar snap-hiss sound of the propellant ignition and the low hum of the magnetic rails startled the crew on deck, even though the afterdeck had been cleared. The low-power magnets slung the 150-pound fragmentation shell into the air towards the Allanean armored column, and at a height of about 200 feet the shell's jet assist activated. The outer blast-shield casing of the shell jettisoned, and the round began gliding down its ballistic arc towards the enemy.

Before the first round even had a chance to land, the fire-control computer analyzed wind currents, humidity, air pressure, and shell trajectory, using a millimeter-band radar to track the lead shot and provide gunners with an accurate picture of the flight path. The FCU (fire-control unit) processed all of these factors into an updated firing solution, fed it to the after battery, and automatically fired the three remaining guns in sequence. The breeches surged backwards and opened; the young seamen supervised the mechanical autoloaders as four fresh shells were loaded over the course of the 25-second reload cycle.

As a precursor to more involved attacks, eight salvoes are fired, for a total of 32 shells.

The incredible mass of armuor and artillery begins moving to the front.

The incredible mass of armour was a massive target for the satellite-targeted Ragarok guns. 50 ton MOAB-esque rounds began pounding the ongainly Allanean formation, their huge size allowing for a disintegration of anything within 430 meters and nearly a 100% kill rate of anything within 1200 meters. The battery commanders made sure every shot counted, only overlapping enough to acount for total coverage of the formation. No amount of ERA or NERA would save them from the kind of destruction 100,000 pound MOAB shells could dish out.

[Allanea, in case you haven't learned yet, I'm teaching you a lesson about massing troops that Phyrric failed to instill in you. This formation will be under a constant bombardment all the way to the front, which should take several days given logistics concerns, speed, and the sheer size of the formation. Travel times should further be compounded because the bombardment will start at the front and work its way back, causing a traffic jam of massive proportions.]

His advisor smiled, "Another missile attack?"

General Richards only nodded....

OOC: Allenea, there are 25 000 missiles being launched at your forces this time, all conventional. Im expecting the majority of those forces you are sending, or all of them to be absolutly destroyed, considering the concentration of such a massive front. Edolian Red Eagle Legions and Amphibious Assault Legions, previously held back as reserves for a counter-invasion, are being moved to the front to act as infantry forces. They are more highly skilled than their already-elite general infantry counterparts and are still extremely effective soldiers, even without being deployed in the method in which they are trained. The only forces remaining not deployed are the special operations “frogmen” attached to the Amphibious Assault Legions.

The remainder of the Edolian air bomber corps are being deployed to Axackal as well. They will boost total military forces and are included in the following tally.

This brings total Edolian forces fighting in Axackal to (counting casualties)

"Sir! The Allaneans are advancing on all fronts! If we don't retreat back to Scandavian positions, we'll be over-run." Albert von Tusk nodded. Damn those cowards in Ilek-Vaad for abandoning us.
"Ilek-Vaad's betrayal <<OOC: That was Albert von Tusk, not me.>> will cost us greatly but Allied air superiority will win the day. Ilek-Vaad still has plenty of fighters that can assist and with more Scandavian forces, we can tear the Allaneans from the skies." The Edolian General nodded as his aide. "Let's keep up the firepower. We'll move to retreat along all lines back to Scandavian positions. I want an increased artillery and MLRS bombardment as well. Now that they're attacking, they are especially vulnerable." The General was cut off as another aide entered the bunker.
"Sir! The Scandavians and Ilek-Vaadians are beginning a massive air and missile campaign against the Allaneans. We're looking at a HUGE attack, designed to wipe out their armor."
"Excellent. Get me Air Commander von Sturenburg." A minute later, Albert von Tusk was talking to the commander in charge of Edolian air forces in the theatre.
"What can I do for you, sir?" the other Edolian asked.
"How many MOABs do we have left in the area, air commander?"
"Eight hundred sir."
"Good. Order more from the homeland and drop everything we have here on the advancing Allaneans. I want every single plane we have here in the air and hitting whatever is left of the Allaneans once the Scandavians and Ilek-Vaadians are done with them."
"Yes sir."
"I want their air forces knocked out of the skies. They don't have many ground to air missiles, so we'll have an advantage there. Outfit every sing YT/A-2 we have and have them smash the Allanean air force. Give them more dogfighting missiles than normal. I don't care about the casualties. We've got better fighters and we've got a helluva lot more fighters than they do, but I want what they have out of the skies. Immediately. Our fighters are also a lot faster. If they try to escape, chase them. If they try to land, bomb them. Don't fly into heavy AA emplacements, but I want those Allanean fighters gone and not hitting our troops. Is that understood?"
"Yes sir. It shall be done."

---

<<OOC: I’ll be starting with the actions of my air forces. Remember that Ilek-Vaad, Scandavian States and Mintar are operating their air forces simultaneously so your forces will be engaged against a lot of different fighters. 1,500 from Ilek-Vaad, another 6,000 Mintaran planes… Scandavian as well, though I can’t remember the numbers.>>

As Allanean Su-34s come in to bomb Edolian positions, a massive strike-force streaks out of the sky, bearing down on them.
3,427 YT/A-2 Hellion Fighter/Interceptors, escorted by a similar number of Barking Gerbil and other support craft are flying at blinding speeds towards the enemy fighter/bombers. They have orders to take down Allanea’s air force once and for all. If the (relatively, compared to the Hellions) slow fighter/bombers attempt to escape, they are to be pursued. However, there is little chance of them escaping. The EAF is prepared to make Axackal the final battleground of the Allanean Air Force.

As these air operations are underway, the entirety of Edolia’s bomber forces are taking off. 3,969 YT/A-3 Hellion Fighter/Bombers, 1,152 RX-12 Roc Unmanned Heavy Stealth Bombers and 1,632 TB-21 Light Stealth Bombers begin a massive bombing campaign of advancing Allanean forces. As they are on the offensive, they are especially vulnerable. Bombers are told to take care of any tanks left over from the Ilek-Vaadian and Scandavian strikes. The fighter/bombers alone can fire off 24,000 air to ground missiles, with the bombers loaded to the brink with smart and dumb munitions. All together, the Rocs and TB-21s are carrying 1.5 million kilograms of munitions. Eight hundred of the TD-21s are also carrying MOABs, to be dropped on spear-heads of Allanean forces.

Axackal’s North is under heavy assault again from the Scarlet Flotilla. As some five hundred <<OOC: Estimate… I don’t want to do all the calculations>> shore bombardment guns open up against Allanean troops on that front, another salvo of 16,000 FOX-6 rain down on Allanean positions in the North. As the supply situation there has only just been fixed and is thus vulnerable to more strikes, it is expected that it will suffer badly, forcing the Allaneans to stop their advance in that section of the theatre. Furthermore, the 650 mixed group fighters (YT/A-2s and –3s) launched from navy ships begin bombing Allanean positions, taking out anything not wiped off the face of the Earth by the bombardment.

On the ground front, Edolian forces are retreating faster than they need to against oncoming Allanean forces, moving back to Scandavian lines and forcing the enemy to take more ground and eat more bombs. Artillery support is increased during this bombardment to cover for retreating Edolian forces. Over 25,000 rockets –mostly anti-personnel- are fired at advancing Allanean lines as the 4,000 G2/U helicopters rain rockets and minigun fire on the advancing Allanean forces. Artillery begins a heavy bombardment as tens of thousands of shells rain down…

<<OOC: And here’s the response to your biker brigades. I should remind you that they were hit very badly by a large number of MOABs and then got bombed with cluster bombs by about 80 Roc bombers many pages ago. You never responded so I figured that they got wiped out by that attack. Anyway, you should take that into account… Since they were confined to the highways, they would have been sitting ducks for the bombers. Axackali border territory is very mountainous anyway, so they couldn’t have strayed too far from the road.

Also, let me point out again how utterly unrealistic it would be for you to get these troops into Axackal. 27,000 troops do not just run down a highway on an incredibly well defended border. I didn’t ignore them because I hate ignoring things, especially since warbikes are really rather silly anyway and so wouldn’t be too effective (very, very vulnerable). Just reminding you of my leniency…>>

500 YT/A-3s, which had not been assigned to bomb enemy positions, struck out at the Allanean biker brigades, taking out enemy helicopters with long-range missiles <<OOC: No way a helicopter could really evade them.>> and flying low to strafe the bikers with Vulcan cannon fire or hit them with missiles. As Edolian forces retreat, relatively small numbers of troops find themselves between two groups of Allaneans. Nevertheless, they should have little trouble taking out what is left of the Allanean brigades.

---

Back in Edolia, the War Council is busy discussing plans. “Von Tusk is doing an excellent job in Axackal, sir,” Thomas von Leifric, the Minister of War addressed his sovereign.
“Agreed. Of course, this is his war, after all,” the Imperator smiled sardonically. “If it weren’t for his excellent commanding skills, I wouldn’t have put him in charge. However, I’m worried that we may be running low on heavy munitions soon.”
“Yes sir… that is a problem. The Allaneans will be suffering from ammunition shortages as well, however, especially given the rate at which we’re striking at their supply bases.”
“What can be done to augment our supplies quickly?”
“We have quite a number of unused MOAB shells for the Titan guns, sir. I was discussing the idea with some of the researchers. Within a few weeks, we could convert about 5,000 shells to be dropped from planes. That would be extremely useful in dealing with whatever is left of the Allanean army.”
“What about other things? This is looking to be a long war, especially if Allanea calls up volunteer soldiers.”
“Yes sir. If they do, we’ll hit their supplies. They won’t be able to feed too large an army. We can also begin moving to a wartime economy.”
“Yes… it looks like that might be wise.”

Imperial Order 98-A
“The Socialist Empire of Edolia is moving to a wartime economy. All factories and industry producing anything but essential goods are to immediately switch to munitions, especially bullets, rockets, missiles and shells.”

It shall take some time before the industry begins moving <<OOC: And remember that only two or three weeks have gone by this war.>> but once it does, we should have an almost inexhastable supply.

<<OOC: RECAP
Edolia’s air force is going on a final date with Allanea’s. In an all-or-nothing air battle, they will take down anything that flies and are perfectly willing to take high casualties to finally clear the skies. They should have no difficulty.
Thousands of bombers are dropping 1.5 million kilograms of munitions, 800 MOABs and 24,000 air to surface missiles.
25,000 rockets from MLRS plus an assault by 4,000 helicopters and a massive artillery bombardment

Allanean Casualty Expectations
I’ve got to say, Allanea, that, no offense, you’re getting your ass handed to you here. Considering the amount of firepower that SS and IV brought against your tanks, there should be absolutely nothing left them of them and your infantry should have taken an incredible beating as well. Your air force would find itself under incredible pressure as it is outnumbered massively by, in many cases, superior fighters. Since the AA of both sides is mostly gone, there really aren’t any other variables in the skies. Also take into account Mintar’s massive strike.

As I’m writing this, I’m checking the thread and now I see Austar Union’s post. If you take everything into perspective here, there should be absolutely NOTHING left of your advancing army. We’ve hit it with such an insane amount of firepower that there is no way that anything of yours could possibly survive. We’re talking about 60% casualties with the remainder of the army in complete and total disarray… unable to fight as everyone is wounded, shell-shocked or is without a commander (or all three).

Oh, and one last thing. Remember that your forces are mechanized. This gives you some advantages but also makes it much easier for us to see you. APCs are not protected against hard muntions so they would be pretty useless against what we're hitting you with. You might be able to reduce casualties by basically disbanding your army, but even then, we're talking about really really really high (40-50%) casualties with very ltitle remaining that would suggest that it was actually a functional army as opposed to a bunch of random guys with guns and uniforms.>>

Axackal
Of the Taiwanese air forces stationed in Axackal, none had been shot down yet, as many were interrupted on their first mission by the nuking and were ordered to abort.

Nevertheless, there was a first time for everything. Many new Taiwanese technologies were making their debuts in conflict. This would be the first war fought by the newly completed air force.

Hundreds of new aircraft had arrived over the last few days, as it was fairly evident that the nuclear strike had not dampened Allanean spirits.

Current aircraft in Edolian Axackal

450 IDF-2 Multirole fighters (some EW variants)
150 AT-5 CAS aircraft
200 F-36 Air superiority fighters
25 KC-720 Mid-air refuelers
8 E-720 Airborne Command
25 B-720 Airbourne Weapons Platform
20 S-720 transports
40 S-200 ESTOL transports
180 Patriot PAC-7 SAMs

-750 MSTA-S self propelled artillery systems
-4,500 various 152mm towed artillery guns (SHOCK army)

The incredible mass of armuor and artillery begins moving to the front.

Satellite imagery of the massive armoured force proves daunting - it was larger than anything General Zhang had seen to date. Still, it was standard space-denial strategy for him.

"I want our fighters to establish air superiority, and lob as many SALCMs at their infrastructure as possible. I want the advance halted."
"Yes General."

As the fleet of airbourne weapon platforms launch their SALCMs (Standard ALCM - a total of 4,200 at a speed of Mach 1.6 hitting targets up to 2000km inside Allanea) at oil facilities throughout Allanea.

A lone squadron (12) of IDF-2 fighters climbs to 60,000 feet and launched a salvo of 48 VESTAT hypersonic missles at massed Allanean troops. The missiles would climb to 90,000 feet, and then conduct a powered dive towards the target, hitting it at Mach 8.

The rest of the IDF-2 fighters are loaded in air superiority configuration and take to the skies with their EW counterparts. They begin hunting down Allanean Sukhoi fighters.

The AT-5 CAS aircraft are loaded with ground attack ordinance.

Somewheere on the Allanean-controlled portion of Axackal shore

The Bisonian transports, badly damaged by enemy bombardments, have arrived. Out of 2,5 million, only 1.5 million people have arrived.

Trucks full of people in Bisonian prison uniforms begin to unload.

A SMERSH operative marches in front of the prisoners, looking upon them with disdain.

"Thugs! You're unworthy of the name of Bisonians! You're unworthy of the name "humans"!" He spits in disgust.

"Yet, our leaders and the Allanean President, in their infinite mercy, have allowed you a chance to earn those titles back".

He pauses,

"YOU WILL REPAY YOUR SINS IN BLOOD!"

"You will be given weapons - even as I shudder at the thought. Within days, you will arrive at the front. You will engage the Edolians in guerrila warfare and bleed them out - and win."

The "troops" are armed with AK-47, shotguns, and/or knives.. Withing 12 hours, the trucks move to the front.

Also among the arrivals are 150 Iskander missile launchers.

In Axackal, the troop deployment had been completed. Some 500, 000 troops were ready, ready to kill Alleneans...

For the few hours previous, they had been shown the horrors of the Allenean Government. Now, they were pumped with the energy of hatred, and anger.

On the frontline, the Allenean Dreadnaught showed itself on the horizon, coming closer, yet slowly. The Austarians had built a wall of Sandbags in several places, to allow cover for their forces. Behind the walls, the Austarians were planning the biggest counter-attack in the entire war....

--------------------
Austarian Military Outpost (Haven): Main Command Center

"Jesus Christ....", muttered General Richards in awe. He had just seen the huge massing of another Penal Battallion, coming up behind the frontline.

The Advisor watched the Satfeed in silence, "Orders sir?"

The General broke his stare, "I want an attack, a missile one, like the last one...."

"How effective can it possibly be? It wasnt the greatest last time....", replied the Advisor.

"Hmmm," replied General Richards, "Make Five Rounds of it..."

"But sir," protested the Advisor, "That will use up the last of the missiles we have on the island!"

"Just do it....", replied the General, darkening his stare.....

OOC: OK, calculating that, I am making a TOTAL round of 125 000 Missiles. Thats five rounds of 25 000. Now, being fair, thats depleting my missile forces, but you have to be fair too. Considering all this, your entire Frontline Battallion should be destroyed, and at LEAST half of your Penal Battallions wiped out. AND thats INCLUDING any anti-missile system you have.....so, its now your turn to post fair losses. They Should be HUGE, the biggest so far in the war...

And you had better make the donation anonymous too; otherwise there is always the chance that when Allanean officials are interogated about it they may give the information; which would probably result in many "international incidents" happening at the same time.

But then again, I'm sure all prisoners are completely imune to interogation and their patiotism will suffice as alway...

Furthermore, if you don't post the Bisonic army as destroyed from having been constantly bombarded from 50-ton MOAB shells (the MOAB of the US Air Force is 10.5 tons) during a week-long travel time, it's going to be ignored because I refuse to accept any Bison equipment after that crap that he t-grammed me last night.]

1)Which Bisonic Army? The Penal Battalions? Lookie here, who told you they were in range of your cannons? The gulf is BIG.

2)50 ton shells can be and will be shot down by ABM sats. They are bigger than any existing cruise missiles, and in fact bigger than most existing BALLISTIC missiles.

3)50-ton shells? GET REAL.

4)Iron Blood equipment is far more reasonable than 50-ton shells.

Losses for campaign: 50,000 troops, 3,000 vehicles

The long, long rows of armoured vehicles beign to move (There's about 37,000 of them). A virtual hail of ATGM's (one shot per minute per vehicle for five minutes) is unleashed at the enemy.

Post losses.

---------------------------------------------

The marines took cover behind the Hattian tanks and their own IST-02 Heavy Tanks, minimizing their casualties. The tanks did become bogged down in the narrow channels between minefields, but spread out quickly and used bushes and treelines for cover. Marines dove into the wrecked remains of former resistance strongholds, using it to fire RPG-7ms and their G3 assault rifles at the enemy.

420 IST-02 Heavy Tanks Destroyed
30 IST-02 Heavy Tanks

850 Marines Killed
6,500 Marines Wounded

REINFORCEMENTS ARRIVING (Onshore):

8 Full Marine Divisions (40,000 combat marines)
6 Full Armored Divisions (1800 IST-02 Tanks)

Amphibious Groups will remain on station for twelve hours to assist with bombardment.

[OOC: Scandavian, I would have a question for you as of the range and capacities of your Ragnarok cannons.

Did you calculate the output of the nuclear reactors powering the cannons and convert everything into the force driving the shell, taken in account the gravity, air resistance and moderate wind?
And if you have done so, can the shell even reach the sub-orbital level at maximum power configuration?
The shell would have to be coated with an analogue coating of ICBMs or space shuttles to be able to do so. And yes, I know the US has tried it and that it is possible, but the US tested a cannon of… smaller dimensions.

So thank you for your responce which I am sure will satisfy entirely my curiousity and will have all my questions answered.]

All IST-02s destroyed
4 marine divisions have been wiped out
the remaining 4 marine divisions are ridden with casualties, but 25% can still fight from their trenches and foxholes.
All actions taken by my land forces between the start of Allanea's missile attacks and now have not happened because of the massive casualties.

However, because my beachhead is still intact, the reinforcements stand.

IC: The tank reinforcements coming ashore had been briefed on the fighting. They were now plowing down the road at full speed, spreading out once they got beyond the minefields. And sleep in the bed you make. Allanea or me would assum,e you are nuking the shock army and respond with nukes. So if we have to assume the guns only use conventional weapons, because we can fully trust UnAPS not to nuke anyone especially after Phyrric, then you might as well assume the ICBM's I launch at the guns are conventional. Otherwise it is quite hypocritical on your part.

[They're located on West Black Sands Isle. The thing is, the island is the size of the island of Hawaii and is ringed by large (10,000ft+) extinct volcanoes. The guns are located at random intervals and elevations, although none lower than five thousand feet. When they're not in use, the cavern opening is covered with a blast door painted the same color and shade as the local rock in order to protect guns from tacnukes and camo them from spysats (even in use, the only tell-tale is a 25ft.wx40ft.t uniform opening in the mountain itself, unless you have a good idea where to look and then the guns would give themselves away when firing.]

OOC: This has got to be one of the most boring RP threads I have ever read in my life. The lack of good RPing on both sides is frightful, and the refusal to compromise has caused at least 10% of this thread to be OOC bitching. I don't know why I even bother trying to post, knowing that whatever quality RP I offer won't be returned, and that the losses I take will far outnumber the losses Allanea takes simply because he doesn't like to take losses. But here goes a probable waste of my time. :?

The Alpha Deployment had been on the water for weeks. They were soon to unload onto Goobergunchian soil as soon as they received permission to do so. The two fleets of the Deployment were filled with an air of tension. Everyone was ready to fight, and the bright light from the southwest they had seen about two weeks ago made them want to fight more. Phyrric had betrayed many nations, and the Lietuv soldiers wanted to prove that they didn't need nuclear weapons to exercise no mercy upon enemy soldiers. Admiral Gordanski had ordered all personnel to prepare for landing, and as they sat about 150 miles off the coast of Goobergunchia, they were fully ready.

The light footsteps of the Admiral walking on the main deck of the Control Tower were heard down the hallway. As he walked into the briefing room, which was well-lighted with a large oak table in the center and executive chairs surrounding, all attention turned to him. "Good afternoon, friends. I want a battle report and how much longer we've got until one side wins or loses." A short Asian woman with a thick Chinese accent replied. "Admiral, the amount of firepower that allied forces have been using is beyond anything I have ever seen or read about. It's a pure miracle that any Allanean even survives in Axackal." The Admiral nodded as he took a seat. "How much firepower are we talking about?" She replied annoyed. "I have no idea, just enough to destroy several cities without even using a nuclear bomb and kill off at least 60% of the residents of each city. That's a rough estimate however, and I couldn't totally confirm it." The Admiral nodded, rather surprised. "And what of the battle report?" A pudgy man in his 40s replied. "Up until a few days ago, the Allaneans were on the verge of total collapse. They got reinforcements in Atlantic Island, and they are doing very well there so far. However, allied forces are still packing a heavy punch in Axackal, but they need air support fast. I advise that we send the first fighter division and first bomber division to fulfill that task." The Admiral shook his head. "You should be well aware that I will not launch any attack while we are sitting out here like sitting ducks. We've got enough firepower to hold off an initial counter-attack, but I want to keep our profile low until we get close to the Doujinishi fleet." The man protested. "Sir, with all due respect, if we wait too much longer, the Edolias and Scandavians are going to have a serious problem on their hands. Munitions only last so long, and with their latest announcement of switching to a wartime economy, I believe my fears are coming true. If we don't do something quickly, our allies will be suffering greatly." The Admiral hesitated. A familiar phrase popped into his head..Damned if we do, damned if we don't.. "Very well. I want half of the I Bomber Division to bomb the hell out of Allanean positions on Atlantic Island, and then I want the other half in Axackal. Divide the I Fighter Division as well, and do the same. Get our ships to launch 30% of their total number of Tomahawk missiles, all to Allanean positions in Axackal. Do it now."
----
Alerts and klaxons went off around the fleets, warning all personnel and combat-ready troops to prepare for the unleashing of Lietuv fury. Within 45 minutes, everything was ready. All ships carrying Tomahawk cruise missiles were preparing to release 30% of their arsenal into Axackal, and as the soft wind blew in the hot afternoon sun, a false sense of calmness was spread across the two fleets. The Bomber and Fighter Divisions would be arriving soon from Lietuveska, as they were deployed separate from the fleets. For the I Fighter and I Bomber Divisons, instead of landing in air bases in Scandavian States (OOC--Hope it's okay that I add that..Got enough room?), they would be launching attacks on Axackal and Atlantic Island. The B-52s were preparing to launch Tomahawks that had been installed in their hardpoints, while the others would prepare their systems as well.

Suddenly, the simultaneous launch of 798 Tomahawk cruise missiles from dozens of ships occured. The LSS Van Arsden shook as missiles were launched from ships surrounding, and the Iowa class battleships rocked violently as they unleashed the hell they had to offer. Finally, after all missiles had been released into the sky, and their fogs settled upon the ships, the awaited arrival of the I Fighter and I Bomber Division, or half of each, arrived going southwards, and 10 B-52s launched all their Tomahawks, unleashing a total of 200 Tomahawk missiles to Axackal. Another 200 were released towards Atlantic Island as the second contigent approached that position. The Allaneans had only received a small dose of what Lietuveska was willing to offer, and more was to come.

Of course I don't expect the total lack of collateral damage, but there is no way I caused 40,000 civilians to die when I wasn't even targetting them. I beg you to revise that post.

The Allanean troops are sitting in their trenches, watching with interest as Allied artillery and aircraft pound the Edolian positions. Suddenly, a powerful roar shakes the countryside as another human wave attack begins. TAR and Bisonian Penal Battalions, composed of circa 2,000,000 prisoners, 90% of whom are armed with sticks with bayonets on them, and the rest - with outdated AK-47 rifles, charge at the enemy. Some try to run and are cut down by Allanean machineguns. Some fire at Allanean soldiers, and watch the round deflected by protective suits. Others are simply trampled underfoot. All in all, 30,000 people die without the enemy ever firing a shot.

Secret IC
A Secret Base in Credonia 5:05 pm CST
Over the course of a few days, forces had been secretly being prepared to be airlifted from Credonia to Allanea to help them with the war effort that they struggled to get an edge on. A man perched on a podium speaks out to men standing, looking up eagerly at him, as the mans words flow unscripted and freely from his mouth, his voice full of enthusiasm, excitement, trust, and most importantly, faith.

"You have your orders gentlemen. Austar Union has pulled from the conflict, now we may help our ally, but in a down low fashion. You men are taking on a job that may turn the tide of their war. Make them proud. Make me proud. Make the emperor proud, but most of all, make Credonia proud. Now move out men and make us proud!!! says the base commander to his group of elite pilots, and jail inmates.

They all fell out and began to man their aircraft, cargo, and transport ships. This operation, Operation Blue Sky would be Credonia's largest airlift in the history of the nation. The number of forces being airlifted and flown to Allanea included:

2,000 Credonian jail inmates
300 M-15 light tanks
100 Challenger-2 Tanks
100 F-15 E Strike Eagles
50 F-16 Falcons
35 F-22 Raptors
35 AH-64 Longbow Apache Attack Helicopters
75 M-109 Artilliary vehicles
5 AC-130 Attack Aircraft
30 A-10 Thunderbolt Aircraft
10 F-117A Nighthawk Stealth Fighters
10 B-2 Spirit Stealth Bombers
15 B-52 Stratofortress bombers
20 C-130 Hercules Transport Aircraft
10 C-4 Globemaster III Transport Aircraft

Within four hours, the planes and supplies were beginning to take off. Forces around the world believed that the military movement was to support allied positions in nations beyond Allanea, yet no one knew of the real intention of this force aside from the Credonian Emperor, Secretary of Defense, TOP Allanean military officials, the secret Credonian Base commander, and the men themselves. Just as the planes began to take off, top Credonian officials wired a total of $500 billion to a secure Credonian account where Allanean officials were told where they could transfer the funds into an account of their own.

Address by the Emperor to the nation:

Today, I am announcing that we are hereby moving to a wartime economy. Any factories not producing essential supplies are hereby ordered to switch to production of soon-to-be-assigned items. Furthermore, I am announcing the deployment of all house units, a total of thirty-nine light infantry divisions. Furthermore, I am announcing the call-up of reserves with training, which will total 17,770,000 troops within a month from now. Those who are expected to make the first wave of reinforcements are already on their way to Dublin. That is all.

[House Units are basically full-time reserve, so they are already alerted and should only take a few hours to get to the closest airfield to the front. After that, expect the first quarter of the reserves called up to arrive within twenty-four hours RL, which is more travel time than Allanea has allowed for. The air armada, as mentioned before, reaches the front and begins bounding the enemy with an incredible amount of HE bombs.

and the aircraft carriers have detected enemy bombers and begin launching aircraft to attack them.

Yeah, and I launched fighters, a lot of fighters. I believe I have 4 or 5 aircraft carriers sitting offshore (Ul'yanovsk Class) which carry 70 Su-37Ks and Mig-29Ks, in addition to the anti-aircraft weapons from the rest of the ships, and the fighters would've concentrated on the bombers, as we are going to hold the beachead. Your bombers should've been ripped to shreds.

Haton: Executive Building

"Comrade Minister, there is heavy fighting in Axackal... and on the southwestern Allanean coast. We've had reports of heavy casualties..." The Minister of War put his head in his hands and stared at the map on his desk. "And what of the fleet? Are they performing well?" The messenger nodded. "Well, we must break through, if we can, we will open up a second front. The Allaneans will then have to divert troops. Call up the 16th and 17th Armies, and the reserves. Have them ready to go quickly, and I want our bombers over Allanea, day and night..."

The Minister then got on the teletype machine and sent a message to the Generals of the Island States...

[code:1:e8895c60b1]
Comrades, it is imperative that we open up another front to ease the pressure on our allies in Axackal. Massive reinforcements should arrive within 2 weeks. Meanwhile, we are going to initiate massive bombing attacks, day and night. Please mark your positions with infrared beacons.
[/code:1:e8895c60b1]

In Haton, the armies began to load up. Every available ship was commandeered. They were coming to breakthrough...

Nahashir
18-04-2004, 18:24
White Citadel, Celestial Empire of Nahashir.

Several Days Earlier.

The ancient Gate Citadel was built thousands of years ago to defend the port of the White Citadel from any maritime assault. Connecting two banks together, the citadel watched over the strait that led to the port of the capital. In ancient times, a huge steel chain(and that when everybody else was still using bronze) would be stretched over the water surface, blocking all ships from entering or exiting. Of course, these times were long gone. Nowadays, radar arrays and missile batteries replaced the walls and Archimedes mirrors of old.

The Celestial Flagship Ishtar was passing right under it, its decks, cannons, missile cells were slowly covered by shadows. From the top of the citadel, from the observation square above the strait, flowers and petals rained. They landed on the mighty battleship, they landed on other ships as they passed, they landed on the water, which soon was not seen from under the carpet of flowers and petals. Lieutenant-captain Oliver Ashford, officer on the Ishtar stood on the deck and watched the ceiling of the citadel above. Trap doors from which in the ancient times death would rain down upon enemies were open. He could see people, many of them, waving hands and throwing flowers. And then, the blue sky reappeared and the sun warmed the decks once again. Oliver turned around and then gave just one single glance behind… to see a crimson rose falling right upon him. He caught it into his right hand and admired the perfect and beautiful lines. He raised his gaze back to the walls of the citadel and saw a goddess smiling down upon him, the most beautiful girl he had ever seen. She was smiling brightly upon him, waving her hand. Oliver waved to her with the rose and then brought it to his heart. The girl erupted into laughter. She was wearing a magnificent dress of pale purple, the sign of nobility. Oliver just smiled… she was most surely some Star Princess… and her ancestors were among the first to settle upon the Archipelago of Nahashir, the first who would start building an eternal Empire. Yes, surely of Phoenician descent… or even Babylonian. For him, a simple descendant of Saxon immigrants, she would most surely forever remain an unreachable star high in the sky of the night, calling him with its silvery light. Democracy or not, the traditions were deeply anchored into the society where none was a native and your pride was measured by when did your ancestors first set foot on the archipelago. He sighed and directed himself into the interior of the ship. He made an oath to himself to find her when he returns… should he return…

Their exact objective was not known. The main reason for full scale fleet deployments were ‘routine training maneuvers’ in the Pacific. The Archipelago was in the mid-Atlantic, a good thousand miles to the west of the Gibraltar Straights. Nobody understood why were they to go to the Pacific for routine maneuvers, since they could as well perform them in the Atlantic, nor why would routine maneuvers require full scale mobilizing of the three most dangerous and ferocious Imperial fleets – the 1st to 3rd Strike Fleets. As well as the integration into the 3rd Strike Fleet of several amphibious assault detachments carrying the most dreaded Imperial ground force – the elite 3rd Assault Legion, the pride and glory of the Empire. Everyone was sure that there was something more than the Emperor and the Celestial Council told them. But they had their orders and so they obeyed. In a nation where serving in the navy is a question of human dignity, orders aren’t discussed, they are obeyed. Neither did the people of Nahashir know why their compatriots were sent somewhere… Some voices of opposition were already raised but they were immediately hushed by the general euphoria that reigned over the Empire.

Finally, the Ishtar and her escort passed by the last of the islands and exited into open ocean. From all over the archipelago, ships were crawling out like ants from a disturbed hive. Each battlegroup went their own way and soon the fleets dispersed into every direction as not to attract the attention of sattelite surveilance to a one big pile of ships in the ocean. Smaller units are always harder to track. The Celestial Navy was like a giant sprout spreading its tentacles over the globe…

And spreading the tentacles it was. Dozens of Death Whisper SSN submarines in every corner of the world received new orders. The Silent Death SSGNs and the Boreas Class SSBNs also were diverted. They were to stop all current activities and converge to coordinates given under extreme stealth. Orders were – Total Warfare. Targets were – UnAPS assets. And so the submarines, one by one, always operating alone, changed their course…

Several days later, the commanders of the surface groups announced to their crew the real orders. The Celestial Navy was to assist the Allanean forces in annihilating the UnAPS naval assets. The reason why this has not been rendered public – effect of surprise. The Celestial Navy had to strike first. And it would do so…

The situation changed immediately. The crewmembers’ morale went up. They have all dreamt of combat for ages and all they got were ‘routine training maneuvers’. This time, the hawks of war would feast in the skies. The groups advanced, each one by their own route, towards the rendez vous point…

***

1.000 miles North from Allanea.

Present day.

The Ishtar sped ahead, passing by two Hermes Class carriers assigned to its fleet. It passed by several other battleships as it led the formation forward, towards Haven. The 1st Strike Fleet was now fully assembled. And a good couple thousand miles away, the 2nd Strike Fleet has also totally regrouped and has transmitted readiness codes. The two fleets advanced each in their own direction. The 1st Strike Fleet – in the general direction of Allanea from the North. The 2nd Strike Fleet – in the direction of Edolia from the East.

The 3rd Strike Fleet – from the South, accompanied by the Wolfpack of submarines. Each submarine was acting on its own. Each had one order: “Total Warfare”. The communications were cut to avoid any risks of being stupidly caught.

The 1st and 2nd Strike Fleets reached their coordinates according to plan, while the 3rd fleet, with its assorted mutli-role ships for its assorted engagement training like anti-submarine, beach landing, and air-dominance, ‘lagged’ behind.

Air patrols circled around the ships, an AWACS or two flew by the formation. Frigates were closely watching. The escort submarines were ever on guard. The Celestial Navy has not yet been engaged. Nor hindered in its advance. But that was just a ‘yet’, that could change any moment.

In the dark command center of the Ishtar the tactic officers were busy. Screens blinked, maps rolled, surveillance data was updated relentlessly...

- In the name of the Skies, Gentlemen, - Star Admiral Needham, appointed high commander of the Celestial Task Force, began his briefing, - we shall enter the putrid enemy waters soon. The enemy is weakening. Already their allies have abandoned or betrayed them. Already their forces are in disarray and the organization of their fleets has been broken. Already they are moving to wartime economies, which only confirms their entrenching into this war and their understanding that this war might last for long. This is our moment, Gentlemen.

The tactical officers nodded. The group was standing in front of a map of the entire region. A huge sheet of paper, with figurines upon it. Actually, right next to that ‘physical’ map was a transparent screen with a digital map and multiple pictograms indicated by allied satellite surveillance. But the Star Admiral was a man of ancient traditions and so he preferred the good old ways of planning. And the Commander’s word was Law. And so the poor operators had to quickly enter the data into the digital map, with all the pretty arrows, pictograms, etc.

- Our fleet will break into here and begin complete elimination of enemy forces in this area.

He circled in red the part of ocean to the North and North-East of Allanea.

- The 2nd Strike will begin a ‘dissuasion campaign’ in this area here.

A red circle appeared in the North-East of Haven, to the north-east of Edolia.

- In the meanwhile, our glorious fish, - the Star Admiral smirked, - will begin a ‘dissuasion campaign’ in these waters here. The 3rd Strike will move from the south after we have attracted sufficient attention from the enemy forces. It will be covered by the Wolfpack in the south.

The third circle appeared to the south of the Island States.

- My Lord, - one of the officers spoke, - what are our chances on a surprise attack?
- Close to a nil, my good Perkins. You do understand that such a mass of ships as ours is not invisible. We have done our best to keep our involvement secret and not get detected on the early stages of approach. Meaning that they should have ‘understood’ that we are directing ourselves ‘towards them’ only now, if they have even spotted us yet, which I sure they have. And this gives them less time to organize possible countering measures. They also do not know yet the reason for the presence of our fleet in this region. We have not contacted the Allanean government and have been respecting a complete radio silence with the outer world.
Our enemies are not stupid, Gentlemen, at least I hope for them they are not. We will most surely get the first swallow any moment now, asking us who the hell are we or else. And the pack will most surely follow. So everyone to their battle stations. Spread the formation. Watch the flanks. May God watch over us!

And so the officers saluted, orders were given and transmitted. The fleets spread out as not to offer a big juicy target to the enemies that just begs to get a thousand cruise missiles shot at it. No, instead, the formation was both wide as to offer less mass to be shot at and allowed the ships to effectively support each other when needed.

And so the two fleets moved on, and in the south – the submarines progressed. Soon, the Celestial Navy would show what it was capable of. Or die trying. Only that Star Admiral Needham decided that his men would not die this year. And his word was Law.

[OOC: Fleet numbers to follow in the OOC thread. I just need to come up with some fancy uber names for the Classes of ships, but basicly – everything is US tech, except for the Boreas(aka Borei), which is a Russian SSBN and a renamed Victor III/Schuka, also Russian. The only exception is the Ishtar which is slightly… uhm… beefed up? ;)
Just know that there are rather ‘MANY’ ships out there.
Or I’ll just spit on name giving and just give original freaking class names ]

Over the beachhead

Wing Commander Nikolai saw the large approaching cloud of aircraft and his comrades on the ground and in the ships. "Bravo 1 to Bravo and Delta wings, engage bombers, let the Su-37s handle the fighters."

The carrier aircraft sped towards the enemy while ground and sea based AA weaponry took a heavy toll on the enemy. "Ye gods, they just keep coming..." The fighters fired off their medium range missiles... the aircraft then clashed. Nikolai jerked hard to the left after filling the front of one of the bombers with bullets. He passed close enough to see the pilot slumped over for a split second. "We can't let them get through!" Green tracers lit up the night sky as he perforated another bomber. He grimaced as he saw a missile impact with a nearby comrade.

They had the battle won before it started, the enemy had seen fit to fly right over the Hattian and TIS anti aircraft weaponry. The MiGs had the highest casualties, darting in between the bombers to rip off wings and engines. The enemy missiles had done well against the entrenched ground troops. Anywhere that there wasn't an allied aircraft, the AA gunners filled it up with fire.

Killed:
39 MiG-29ks
23 Su-37s

Behind the battle, longrange bombers out of Hattia began to release their payloads over the Allaneans

The thirty-nine light infantry divisions were already inside Axackal, although far enough back that there was no chance of any engagements near the line. The twenty divisions meant for The Prophet were being diverted to Allanea after the collapse of that front; it would take less than twelve hours to get to the front lines. The SIBAs and M14 SIBA-MGs for the regular army troops were being airlifted to a supply point near the front, after which the reserve divisions would take over the fighting while the regular divisions switched equipment, which given the proximity of the supply point would only take three hours.

NavCom, Stockholm
"Admiral Tzu, reports from ONI are indicating three separate fleets approaching different points. We weren't notified, nor know of, any friendly fleet movements. Given their approach vectors, it is probably a safe bet that they're hostile." An aide informed the First Sea Lord.

Tzu looked over the report, nodded, and indicated the map, "Instruct Admiral Yu, who's near Atlantic Island, to interrogate the fleet approaching that area. I want the strike and defense fleets here to swing to the left of the oncoming fleet, if they identify themselves as hostile or fail to identify themselves, waste them. As for the fleet approaching the southern Allanean coast, inform Admiral de Soto that he's to allow whoever's fleet that is into the South Sea and then shut the door behind them. If they react negatively or fire, sink them. Also tell him to keep well clear of their CAPs, we don't want them to figure out what's happening until it's too late to do something about it."

[The first thirty-nine divisions should arrive at the front in an hour from 6pm EST. The next twenty divisions should arrive an hour after that. The four million reservists that were just called up will arrive in Axackal at 9pm EST and will almost immediately be at the front and the regular divisions return to the front, at which I will begin my counter-attack.]

"Dispatch orders have just been received sir."

"Lets here it" as the Captain is on the catwalk between the Bridge and CIC.

"We are to proceed back to Allanea Southwest Coast"

"It is about time, send message to the fleet to set course, request reinforcements" the Captain turns back around.

"The reinforcements have already been dispatched, they will redezvous with us at these coordinates."

"The formation?"

"8 Battle Fleets and 12 Submarine Squadrons."

"What are we waiting for? Lets get going"

"We certainly will be contacted. Replies?"

"Let them eat static, if it does not come on the secure frequency, do not acknowledge."

"Orders understood"

Austar Union: Missile Center 1ALB
--------------------

General Richards had been informed of the situation in Axackal. Although he had at first been confused, now he breathed a sigh of relief as he was told stocks had been replenished. He had also been informed that some very good new missiles had been ordered, courtesy of the Austarian Government. They had arrived, and been made ready for launch only 12 hours prior...

Now that he was in the Austar Union, he felt somewhat safer. He knew the Allaneans had brought up their reserves already. It was time to begin the rescue operation, and to finally do what UnAPS had failed to do... They were to fight back the imperialistic Allanean forces.

As he reclined in his main office back in the Austar Union, sattalites overhead watched the area of Allanea. They had located several sites, of great importance to the Allanean war-effort.

Already they had mapped out 4 major facilities along the Allanean-Axackal border. From Intelligence, they had already figured there were some 3000 missile launchers on the border, in those facilities. The only Anti-Aircraft Defenses were Bisonan, however, there would be no need for aircraft to be used in this attack.

This was to be a missile attack, based purely on attacking particular targets....

Within the hour afterwards, Bio/Chemical warhead ICBMs were being launched, their destinations: several places inside Allanea...

OOC: Here are the details about my ICBM attack:

2 Freedom ICBM's (EMP Warhead) launched at each target.
Targets:
Your 4 Bases on the Axackal Border
Your Capital

A few minutes after these missiles hit, 2 Freedom ICBMs (VX Nervegas Warhead) are launched at those same targets (2 ICBMs each target)

The Freedom ICBM, has carries a Payload equivilant to approximatly 2 Megatons..

And dont try to tell me that I dont know about those 4 bases, if you say that they're not there then I will call a godmod. Because I KNOW those bases are there. (How do you think I got such specific information). Intelligence comes in handy...

Yep, so Im expecting MAJOR damage to your infustructure, post losses accordingly....

"Incoming ICBM!"

"And?"

There was one thing that the enemy forgot about - the high-powered ABM sattelite system provided by Belem.

Somewhere far overhead, the hundreds of sattelites begin powering their laser weapons.

Somewhere in Allanea...

"Lookie boy, a falling star!" says an Allanean mother, watching the Austarian VX missile explode and the shards continue on, burning a fiery trace on the sky.

"Mommy? Can I make a wish?"

"Sure honey".

In Prophet

Of the 800,000 Allaneans deployed, 400,000 are immediately diverted, sent to Axackal. So are 1,600,000 of the militia men, adding to the greatest guerilla campaign of all times.

Militia recruiting continues. Patriotic posters are everywhere.

<<OOC: I would really appreciate it if we could put a hold on this until TJHairball comes and makes some rulings. It would be really nice not to be arguing over everything. I think the war has gotten complicated to the point that unless we have a moderator, we really can't do it.

Is that acceptable to everyone?

Oh... I've been having some personal issues lately and just haven't had the energy to pay attention to this war, thus my absense. I re-read the post involving all the ATGMs. I'll make official casualty postings later, but expect them to be high (this is once the mod comes of course). However, I also expect that Allanea's casualties are going to be a lot higher than he has been claiming as well.>>

It is the People's Republic of Kay Son's wish that such parties can step down from such aggressive tactics and should pursue a diplomatic way. Although it is our nation's experience that such tactics are necessary for ideas or notions to be accepted to it's entirely, it should not be the premise of a false hope of things/events that has happened in the past. The past is the past and it should not drive policies that would endanger those in the present. The People's Republic of Kay Son highly suggests that such action can be ceased with the ideas of peace spread amongst it's fellow brethern nation-states.

Tar has decided to give Allanea fair warning to evacuate any civilians from its capital, as "Missiles shall soon rain on their capital like fire from the heavens". A few hundred missiles are being prepared for launch, and all we can say is, we pity any soul that remains in the capital after the missiles have been prepared.

Austarian Military Outpost (Haven) >> Main Command Center

General Richards, now back in Haven was angry, "Damn those Allaneans.... Peter, its time to go to Plan B."

"Very well sir, what do you want me to do?", replied Peter.

General Richards smiled, "How many troops do we have in Haven now?"

Peter looked through his documents, "There are some 4 Million in total sir, 500 000 of which are at the backskirts of Axackal..."

The General smiled again, "Very well, I want them transported into Scandinavian States, have them stationed there. I also want those 500 000 to fall back into Scandinavian States..."

Peter got out his calculator, "OK, what transportation do you want to use?"

"I want to use our full fleet of available Transtar F-1", replied General Richards

"Ok, so we have about....1000 Transtar F-1 available, due to the release of the F-2 only recently, um, let me think," said Peter, punching digits into his calculator, "Trip in the Transtar will take about 10 minutes....300 000 troops every round, assuming constant mobilization.....wow, sir, we can have those troops in TOTAL, 3.5 million, into Scandinavian States within a day...."

General Richards reeled in surprise, "Holy crap! A day?!"

Peter laughed, "Well, that IS where the Transtar program is most effective sir, incredibly quick transportation..."

General Richards smiled, "Well, send the order away dammit, in the meantime, im drafting up my next attack..."

OOC: If you are wondering how I can transport this equipment so fast, do some research on the Transtar F-1 (a vehicle created by my Military Inventors), and you will find that its perfectly legal. In fact, my true calculations show that I can in fact transport them in 4 hours, but I lengthened it to a day just to give you a chance... And yes, the Transtar F-1 uses real-life technology, which has been available since the 60's / 70's, but the project was abandoned because a lack of funding by the US government to NASA.

--------------------
East Axackal >> Austarian Troop Position
--------------------

The Field Marshall had just recieved his orders via SatCom. He was to pull his troops back, all of them, back into Scandinavian States. Quickly, he told his selection of Commanders, who would tell the rest of the troop their orders. Within hours, the Austarian Forces, yet to engage the Allaneans had begun their mobilization eastward. It would take only 5 hours to cross the border into Scandinavian States...

OOC: This is allowed because Scandinavian States is an ally, and he is allowing allied troops to use his resources, and to station troops there ;)

OOC (Overall): Because of NS and Real Life time differences, it would come out for a day in Real-Life equals about year in Nationstates. This will reduce a Nationstates day to a matter of minutes, but for RP fairness, I will wait 2 RL hours until I officially RP the mobilization of my troops has been complete... Its your own problem if you havent been online by then, but in IC, it would be near impossible for you to stop this anyway if you research EXACTLY whats happening. But I will wait never-the-less...

OOC: I have posted my numbers AT LEAST HALF A DOZEN TIMES IN THE THIRTEEN PLUS THREADS THAT ALLANEA HAS BEEN GENERATING FOR THE PAST MONTH.

YOU need to backread those posts and see what you are up against, my ships have been deployed off of Allanean waters since the smuggling incident between Edolia and Allanea.

IF you do not want to take the time to back reead what this is all about and to back read the dozens of posts I have made regarding the military hardware I have all over the area, then I suggest you leave.

I am sick of people showing up, ignoring previous posts and threads. I have never ignored any nation but Nahashir is now being IGNORED. It is obvious that you did not read any of the previous mess and I don't have the patience to continually repost myself.

2. So far, o one with blood as molten lava, the only ones jumping in have been your allies. I have dedicated full three days of my life to improve my knowledge in naval warfare, technology and tactics, to get myself advised by an other player who is wiser than me in that area. I have dedicated several days reading through this. So do not you even dare speak such words against me, not after all the effort I have provided.

3. I want to know how do you intend to carry out the interception. I am sorry, little one, but your little "statement" is not satisfactory. If you want to intercept my assets, YOU are to do it accordingly.

4. I want to know the numbers intercepting my fleet, for the rest - I care not for now, naughty one. If you want to intercept my assets, YOU are to do it accordingly.

5. Do as you wish, ignore me at your willing. But face it - with just one of my posts I outscored all of your blabbery statements, silly one. I consider your ignoring of my assets as a sign of weakness and complete inability to Role Play. I would suggest you improve your skills.

6. If I could, I would kick the Allanean player hard between the two eyes for spamming the forums with threads relative to one single conflict and each one of the mods for not doing their jobs appropriately in cleansing the mess, puny one. So I am as angry as you with how this is organised. No... there is no organisation in this mess.

Thank you for your attention.

P.S. And no, my dear friend, the words I used are not insulting.

OOC: okay, you asked for it.
Naval Guard Forces off the coast of Allanea 5 Battlegroups, 5 Carriergroups (As posted ad infinitum in several other threads for4 those taking the time to actually pay attention) consisting of:

10 Revenge Class Battleships

75 Cruisers

75 Frigates

200 Destroyers

80 Trident stealth sunmarines

100 Wolfhound stealth submarines

10 Carriers with 2,500 Orion Stealth Fighters

Since you are not familiar here is Statistics for the Revenge Class Battleship:

Costa-Tula Shipyards developed the Revenge in response to the Ministry of Defence's request for a 'definitive' agressive/defensive naval vessel. It was designed about 10 years ago with an eye towards eliminating carriers, destroyers and cruisers. The isolationist bent of the governments at the time meant that the ship need only be capable of defensive attacks and/or quick devastating strikes at range. It was intended to be the only naval vessel in service.

Dimensions:
Length: 1,724'
waterline length: (varies, the Revenge can deepen it's draft by filling ballast tanks)
Width: 224'
Mean Draft:68'11" (this varies as stated above)

Displacement:
Optimum Load: 180,000 tons
Emergency load: 225,000 tons

Armament:
6 X 48" Ship Destroyer Naval Guns (in two turrets, one fore, one aft, these can only be fired when the ballast tanks are full to stabilize the ship.)

10 X 32" Naval Guns

12 X 6"/60 Naval Guns

30 X 30mm Chainguns

64 Apollo Cruise Missles

32 Icarus Anti Ship Torpedo's

22 SPEAR anti-missle batteries

Armour:
Main Belt: 13.6" composite ceramite at a 20 degree incline, covered with reactive armour and active camoflage plates

Main Deck: 8.5" composite ceramite

Turret Face 21" composite ceramite

Turret Side: 19.4" composite ceramite

Conning Tower: 18.7" composite ceramite

Machinery:

1 Avery Frost N-Type Fusion Generator
6 Boilers
6 sets of shaft turbines

Maximum speed: 40 knots with 6 inboard 5-blade screws

Crew Compliment:

4,500 personnel with the ability to transport up to 5,000 Naval Marines.

The Monstrous Revenge was originally designed to also house up to 10 squadrons of Orion VTOL fighters. The original launch decks have been replaced with a multi purpose 'deck' that can be configured to carry troops, equipment or diesel tanks (to supply other ships). The Revenge has stepped in admirably in it's current Flagship duties and has become a strategic operations center and a mobile re-fueling/re-loading station for the rest of the convential fleet. Ironically with Ilek-Vaad taking part in more and more international affairs the Revenge has been used to support the very ships it was intended to replace.a synopsis of the Revenge Battleship:

These Naval Guard units have been deployed for over a month in game time. They are already arrayed in combat positions (as they have been for two weeks) you already have our subs under you, and the Naval Guard have been at range for sometime and have been arrayed to watch Doujin's baclk as he maimed Allanea's fleet. Your fleets are moving into a force with superior arms, technology and tactics and they are fresh with full loads of fuel and ammo and have been prepared for combat for weeks.

These forces are now bombarding your fleets. I have read your fleet stats and numbers.

IC:
Naval Commander Itxaad ordered that the enemy be sent to the bottom of the sea after receiving no reply (OOC:since you did not reply IC, I assuming you had no reply, just as you assumed that no forces were in your way, next time check.).

The Revenge Battleships, at range more than 150 miles away began hitting the Nahashir fleet with their giant Ship-Destroyer guns. The High Velocity 48" shells are satellite guided, the ships computers calculate wind, motion of the sea , curvature of the earth and the enemies movements, to ensure deadly accuracy.

The Carriers launch ALL Orion fighters, half are configured as interceptors to destroy enemy aircraft, the other half as anti-ship bombers (with 16 air-surface Icarus torpedos each, the ones used by the Australian Navy).

The Frigates and cruisers open up with cruise missle strikes , over 3,500 Cruise missles guided by satellite that is tracking the Nahashir fleet's every moves launch in waves.

Deep under the Nahashir fleet hundreds of torpedos are unleashed at near point blank range. The Stealth subs have been waiting motionless for weeks, even the BEST sonar cannot detect a motionless sub that hasn't moved for weeks, the sonar operators simply have no point of reference for the subs NOT being there, how can they know.

At the Same time Admiral Ilek, off the Coast of Axackal having bombarded the Allanean massed attack (OOC: for which Allanea STILL has not posted losses for) orders his 3 Battlegroups and 2 Carriergroups to head around to take the Nahashir fleet in the flank, if there are any left.

OOC: you have around 100 ships in the area (your third strike fleet , as you said, is still en route) Your ships are horribly outnumbered, out flanked and monstrously outgunned. I expect heavy losses considering I have been in position waiting for attack and your ships have had to rush to Allanea's aid. Of course I'm sure Allanea failed to mention that like Doujin, my entire Navy is deployed and has been for RL weeks. Maybe this will teach you to READ what you are getting into before you start posting?

Good night :)

OOC: I would like to take this opportunity to point out that I have a military outpost in Edolia (clearly labeled on the IC map of Haven) and that it is currently holding a small naval presence nearby, it's nothing huge nor is the technology anything new and hard to look up because I happen to like it when things are simple.

Here's the jist of Iuthian Naval Forces in the area:

2 Iuthian Carrier Battlegroups each with:

1 Carrier (CV/CVN) -- Strike warfare
2 Cruisers (CG) -- Air warfare (TBMD)
3 Destroyers (FFG) -- Surface and undersea warfare
2 Attack submarines (SSN) -- Surface and undersea warfare
1 Fast Combat Support (AOE) -- Replenishment

Each Carrier holds:

36 F/A-18 -- Strike/Fighter
14 F-14 -- Fighter/Strike
4 EA-6B -- SEAD/Jamming
4 E-2C -- Airborne warning & control
8 S-3B -- Surface Warfare/Tanker
6 SH/HH-60 -- Undersea/Logistics/CSAR
2 C-2 -- Carrier onboard delivery

Please note that additional logistical vessals are at hand (not noted in this because I don't have the time to look everything up) and all forces have been preparing to defend mainland Edolia so they should be action ready, although that alone if probably costing me a pretty penny.

There are also many land and air units I could note being held back at our military outpost in Edolia, but seeing as I expect this to be a naval battle I will not meantion them at this time.

Now here's the important part. Currently I have RL concerns and I'm not really too keen on RPing a war right now because I have more important things to be worrying about (such as my RL job prospects) then getting together a good solid RP.

Seeing as this is the case I would prefer that I hand my forces over to either Ilek-Vaad or Edolia (preferably Ilek-Vaad who looks like he is going to be one mostly fighting on naval grounds) for use as they see fit.

If anyone has a problem then please raise your voice now... I wouldn't normally do this but I have an outpost in Edolia for a reason and currently I doubt I'm in the right frame of mind to RP my vessals. I probably should have more vessals to hand like some SSGN's and more SSN's but as you can see my heart isn't in it.

OOC: YOU CANT DO ANYTHING BECAUSE YOU HAVE LESS NUMBERS AND OMG MY SUBMARIENS ARE QUIET DESPITE THE FACT THAT SUBMARINES MAKE NOISE AND SS DOESNT STAND FOR STEALTH BUT I CALL THEM STEALTH ANYWAYS BECAUSE IM A TARD. YOU NEED TO TAKE BIG LOSSES.

Ilek:

You, sir, claim to be a naval power with all the right stuff (includin' knowledge). However, your post, your style, and your godmoding promotes numbers over tactics, which by the way is the worst way to start a war.

Not only that, but you fired on a so far neutral fleet with little to no reason. A ten minute warning is by far the most idiotic reason for war that I have seen on nationstates. Now, I know I am not the RP Moderator, but you have displayed an excessive ammount of stupidity in that post and ought to consider re-writing it for content and tactics rather than vague numbers which can easily be countered.

And by the way, you silly angry man, numbers aren't tactics. Go take a few classes in Military Ethics, Naval Strategy, and Logic before you claim to be a naval genius like you have.

OOC:

1. The war was started 2 weeks ago IRL. My entire navy has been activated and in the field for nearly a month. The style of my posts have never been called into question, by anyone except you and Nahashir.

2. Nahashir is not a 'neutral' fleet. Nahashir announced publicly that he was en route to aid Allanea. I have been at a state of war with Allanea for, you guessed it , nearly a month IRL.

3. I displayed the number of my ships, how they attacked and the fact that they are holding in a defensive position (once again for nearly a month). Submarines only make noise when they are moving. The sound dampening skins on modern 'stealth' submarines can make interior noise inaudible, with the exception of loud things like the engine, which is not in use when a submarine is stopped. Nahashir's posts, that allegedly included all of the things you say I am lacking, only contained the simple missive 'My fleet is here, and I assume we're completely unopposed because I didn't back read any of the threads involved and I don't know what is there so it can't be anything.

4. You and Nahshir show your ignorance by insulting me, rather than stating facts. Both of you need to ask your good friend Allanea to provide you with the monumental post list, so that you can backread, familiarize yourself with an RP that has been going on for some time and THEN get involved. Nahashir showed up and began posting his 'assumptions' , I take issue with that.

5. For your information, I minored in Military History and I do try to keep up on current tactics and equipment, but of course no one can keep up with everything so sometimes I do make misakes, but at least my mistakes are not based on assumptions and willfull ignorance of an RP that is already ongoing.

6. You are also assuming that I am a naval 'expert' I never said that. You also say I am godmodding, that is false as well. First, the numbers of my navy are well under the number of other navies involved in this conflict. Look at the other posts and other threads and add up several of the other nations naval numbers, they are much larger than mine. Second, I did not post any damage to my opponents navy, I simply intimated OOC that I thought casaulties would be high, considering my superior readiness and position. So at what point did I godmod?

So go ahead and keep insulting me, ignore the facts of the RP.

OOC: For the record, I dispatched 523 ships, 15 of which were sunk, and another 15 of which are damaged, leaving me with a total of 493 undamaged ships. Now, my ships aren't "clustered", and they are all (supposed) to be bombarding Atlantic Island, all of it.. all known military positions and positions that could help the military.. With that, 1 Assault Fleet is on the northern end, 1 assaults Fleets on the southwestern end, the Main Fleet on the south eastern end, and another assault Fleet on the north eastern end.. effectively having the place surounded, with 5 Battlefleets mixed in there. I will wait for TJHairball to intervene, mainly because it is hard for me to RP while at the Library, stuff being bitchy and not going through is a pain in the ass, no? And since I am not at home, I can't post things at night which usually for me NS works a lot better. First of all, I cannot find the OOC thread, so I am posting this here until further notice. I apologize, but I am typically astonished at how poorly this thread is running and how poorly the posts are. This is not only directed at Ilek-Vaad, but to Allanea and his/her allies as well as the rest of UnAPs.

OOC:

1. The war was started 2 weeks ago IRL. My entire navy has been activated and in the field for nearly a month. The style of my posts have never been called into question, by anyone except you and Nahashir.

Ok, let's keep this in mind, since you reference it every point you made. Two weeks is only half a month, sometimes not even.

Secondly, the style of your posts suck. I am suprised no one has called you on them, and infact, I would have regarded some of the "better" players to call even their own alliance members on their postage. The fact of the matter is you are vague, lack detail necessary to posting, and forget basic laws of physics.

2. Nahashir is not a 'neutral' fleet. Nahashir announced publicly that he was en route to aid Allanea. I have been at a state of war with Allanea for, you guessed it , nearly a month IRL.

Nahashir has yet to take confirmed action on anyone, and as far as I am concerned expressing support is still not much to base an attack on. For all you know, those battlegroups can be carrying baby food and diapers. And now you are attacking them? The fact of the matter is that Nahashir is still fairly neutral and your reason for war (a ten minute period of confirmation) is by far the most idiotic excuse I've seen on NationStates.

PS: Two weeks is not a month.

Let me go back to detail in posting. Because this game is very vague, I can easily say that I find a gap in your defense and exploit it to wipe out your battlegroup. So just saying defensive formation (not position) can come back to kick you in the ass.

Submarines always make noise unless they are completely shut down. In a submarine (Or any ship, for that matter), the engine is referred to as the powerplant...which is always running unless it is tied up along port and running off shore line. All nuclear submarines continuously run water in order to cool the turbogenerator, and because of this even quiet submarines are audible. Nothing is perfectly quiet, BTW...it's simple thought. Nothing is 100%, therefore...despite how quiet (say even 99.999%), you are still audible.

And as a fact, in order for a submarine to remain still (unless by some miracle of God the ocean sits motionless, which it doesn't), a submarine will need to maintain a minimum navigation speed...which means its propulsion system will be running according to the current of the water. So yes, your submarines are identifiable (while still as quiet as you say they are, they are still findable).

Nahashir's post is simple, and as of yet unprovoking. Yes, it says exactly that. But it has style, detail, and foreshadowing. You lack detail and foreshadowing...you have style but it sucks. Like my English teacher says, anyone could have written The Scarlet Letter, but no one would have the same style and thoroughness as Nathaniel Hawthorne. Get a style, implement it in your posts. You'd be much more respected in the RP world, plus there is a good chance your enemies won't be able to compete with you because you are detailed and flexible.

PS: Two weeks is not a month.

I've read the thread, I've seen your posts. You haven't said much of anything, and what you have said is both unclear and minimal. Perhaps you can fix that by RPing better. Then perhaps you would have fewer problems.

PS: Two weeks is only half a month, if that.

5. For your information, I minored in Military History and I do try to keep up on current tactics and equipment, but of course no one can keep up with everything so sometimes I do make misakes, but at least my mistakes are not based on assumptions and willfull ignorance of an RP that is already ongoing.

Ok, good for you. Military History. It shows. You chose to accept a war style favoring attrition as opposed to a smaller, better equipped and more capable force (the modern style of warfare) with specific tasks.

You outnumber the Nahashir fleet, yes. You fired an assload of missiles at Nahashir, yes. You also launched all your planes at Nahashir. However, because you have not planned ahead two moves, you haven't considered the possible tactics and logistics changes that can both respond and counter your attack successfully. Now you have all your planes out, your ships are low on ammo, and all of your positions are blown. Good job. If Nahashir was to use this information, his ships and planes would have a lot of "kill" marks on them.

PS: To be more direct, two weeks is fourteen days. A month at its shortest is twice that (February). No, two weeks is no where near close to "almost an IRL month."

Ok, very good. You realise that other nations are better equipped than you. But instantly you also assume your fleet is ultimately secretly positioned, in exact firing position (take note that missiles have top ranges, as well as torpedos and aircraft) (As a side note to that, your submarines would have had to move into direct firing position in order to be at "point blank range" as your post said, in that case they would have moved and created noise). Now you say that it is impossible for them to be found, it is nearly impossible to counter 3,500 missiles launched, and it'd be a godmod not to take high losses. I'd drone this section out more, but I don't have the time or the patience to. And besides, as you have yet to learn, I don't show all of my cards at once.

PS: Two weeks is not a month.

So go ahead and keep insulting me, ignore the facts of the RP.

I am not insulting you, but I apologise for coming across that way. I'm merely being hard on you (and on your allies). But in the case that I'm ignoring facts...that's pretty hypocritical. Perhaps you can go back and re-read what I've said...what I just said...and what you said. I'm not ignoring the facts.

Good for you, your fleet was ready. But because it was in a warzone, that means you have limited ammunition unless you can magically reload after every battle, unless all of your aircraft are at 100% readiness (as well as your ships), your missiles and torpedos have unlimited range, and your submarines are completely stealth.

All in all, I'd definitely re-write what you've written. Perhaps you can learn something out of what I've said...maybe even change your style of posting so that you wouldn't be subject to this 'insulting' truth.

Thinking first is always a good choice, I wish you luck in your endeavor.

NOTE: I'll move this post when I find the OOC thread, or if TJ shows up first, I request this gets moved for me. I apologise for taking up space, I'm merely trying to be fair and helpful. This isn't just for Ilek-Vaad, but for the entire RP roster.

Sea of Allanea SW coast:

"Start signaling the fleet to ready attack formation and implement Operation Justice"

"Sending transmissions, encoded....fleet movements are acknowledging transmission"
.....
"Flood tubes 1, 2, 3, 4, ballast to 10m depth, program firing sequence"

"Targeting....we have a good lock."

"Stand-bye for further orders, do not fire until ordered to do so."

"Incoming transmission"

"Authenticate"

"The message is authentic"

"Read it"

"Order received from Corcyra Joint Chiefs. We are hereby ordered to open fire."
.....
"General quarters, general quarters, all hands man your stations, set condition Z throughout the ship" all flags on Phyrric warships are set at half mast. Aircraft start roaring off the flight deck of the carriers, attack formation initiated.

"Identify targets and commence firing" orders the Captain on the Dion BBG 107. The turrets of the battleships roll to a broadside.

CG, DDG and FFG open missile hatches. Choppers lift off deck and commence submarine sweeping ASW warfare.

"We have lock on the Island States Fleet Admiral"

"Fire!"

Fire emits from the 16 inch cannons. The broadsides from the 6 montana class battleships and 2 iowa class unleash there long overdue fury on one of their prior allies.

The squadrons of submarines discharge their torpedoes onto the waiting ships. One by one, tube by tube, torpedoes exit the subs unleashing their vengance.

"Full attack, save nothing, spare no one. We will not take any survivors aboard our ships. Any crippled ship is to ram an enemy." orders the fleet admiral.

The 8 carriers proceed to launch their full strike loads. Missiles proceed to leave their white trails from each of the cruisers, destroyers and frigates. Locks are good on this day.

"Unleash the dogs of war, we are hungry today and there is fresh meat to feast on"

"We have sonar contact sir"

"ASROC now!" the battery cartridge opens, out spits the rockets intended for submarine death.
.....
"Incoming Message sir"

"Orders?"

"Proceed to the SW Coast of Allanea to aid and assist the fleets present."

"Plot course and full steam ahead"

6 more battle groups are enroute to join the 8 present.
.....
East Phyrric:

"Ready the infantry and fighters for immediate operations.

550,000 troops, 2200 fighters, 150 bombers, 1 battle fleet and 1750 armor are present. These are the forces withdrawn from Axackal, Riannen, Prophet, Mintar and Edolia when Phyrric withdrew from the UnAPS.

Your assumption that nuclear submarines constantly have to run coolant to prevent the reactor from going supercritical is not entirely accurate.

Assuming water conditions are correct, the reactor coolant can circulate on natural convection currents alone, meaning the reactor pumps can be shut down or at least greatly reduced in power.

I'm not sure of the water conditions off northern Allanea (and quite frankly I don't care) but let me express my disappointment with all of you. This RP degenerated into a mudslinging flame/ignore/OMG n00k!!1!!1!one fest with speed I haven't seen since the likes of Bisons' idiocy ruled the forums.

Losses from recent naval combat in the SW:

4 carrier groups either totally annihilated or unsalvageable.
All carrier aircraft destroyed

A defacto state of war now exists between The Island States and Phyrric.

The eight amphibious groups that were on their way back to TIS will be reloaded with troops and tanks and prepped to sail north.

----------------------

President Newman steps up to the podium, it's blue face carrying the TIS Seal.

"Good morning," Newman said to the crowd, still wearing his military uniform (but with five stars on his uniform instead of four). "This morning, the nation of Phyrric launched a surprise attack against our vessels covering our invasion of Allanea. There are no reports of survivors, and our marines are now cut off from their supply lines. The eight amphibious groups were not in the vicinity of the attack, and they are now being readied for a new mission."

"I have issued an executive order beginning hostilities upon Phyrric, effectively declaring war upon them. As the Congress has been dissolved until our next election, we cannot officially declare war. We will strike Phyrric vessels and interests in and around Haven, effectively driving them away."

"May we all mourn those who have died without knowing who their real enemies were until it was too late, and may God bless them. Thank you." The president left the podium, leaving behind a group of choked up reporters.

The Retaliatory Guard armies of the Twisted Serpent and the Eagles that were poised south of Prophet, board their Atlas transports and withdraw from the theatre.
Naval Guard units in the area (2 Battlegroups and 1 Carriergroup) escort the transports back to Ilek-Vaad, giving territorial waters of other nations a wide berth.

The Naval Guard units off of Axackal and north of Allanea withdraw as well, moving single file down the haven straights to stay well out of any territorial waters.

Nothing new in this post re: troop positions, just clarification...

In the Allanean positions
Johnson swore as he ripped himself out of the injured Volk AFV.

"Can we get the thing moving, Cap'n?" - he asked

"Not in the closest time, Privae Johnson" - answered Captain Smith, a tall, moustached man whose chest was covered with medals from previous wars.

"S___t. So what happens now?"

"After those latest attacks, we have about 2.7 million left, not including those darn Penal Battalions, and it's only that many because the militia are in it."

"Total s___t. To how many Edolians? "

"Screw the Edolians. The Scndavians are sending in some large amount of reservists in... about three million, to kick our soft, armored a$$."

"Any [I]good[./I] news on the radio-waves?"

The captain smiles. "Well, Illek-Vaad has bailed out of the war. Phyrric has acted in the best UNAPs fashion, and attacked his own, again. The Island States Marine Corps is now cut off in Allanea, and rumour has it that they're planning to retreat. Whatever's left from Iron Blood forces is coming in to help us, and so are tanks from Artitsa and Indon. And, for the real good news, we're done with this old-fashioned mass attack stupidity."

"What do you mean Cap'n?" - asked Johnson, livening up.

"What I mean is we're switching into offensive guerrila mode. Divvy up in small groups, and conduct hit-and-run attacks on the stupid Edolian pedophiliacs."

"Yes, Sir!" - Johnson barks out.

An hour later, somewhere next to Edolia's positions

"You see that small building over there?" - asks Smith,

"Yes, Sir!"

"Wel, it's an Edolian field outhouse. And a second ago, I just saw an Edolian walk in and he wasn't wearing his personal armour either.

Johnson smiles as he pulls the trigger on his grenade launcher.

In Deriksburg

The Raysian Arms Flamechucker-type flamethrower wakes up to life, swiping the dark, narrow corridor with liquid fire, turning two Edolian police officers into living torches.
Michael looks at them with a smile until they stop twitching - then kicks the exit door open, ready to shoot at the enemy... but he sees no enemy.
Instead, he sees dozens of Axackalians, arms in hand, advancing through the street. He waves his flamethrower in greeting.
"Hello, boys and girls!"
One of the Axackalans, obviously a leader, waves his gun in greeting.
"Freedom lives! Can I be led to whoever is your commander
After half an hour, the first ever Axackal-Allanea strategy conference begins.
"What we want you to do, " says the Allanean general, "Is hit those pedophilic gun-grabbing commies were they're soft: supply lines, non-combat troops, railway tracks - cutting the one's going to Scandavian States would be excellent. If anybody can bring in more supplies, we'll be most helpful."
"Yes, sir."

A few hours later, a poster starts appearing in Deriksburg and other Axackal towns.

Thousands, nay dozens of thousands are dead. The latest Edolian attack has obliterated about 200,000 people,. but those carrying weapons are already within range. Off Southwest Allanea

An attack by the Phyrric fleet had been expected since their arrival in the bay, but nevertheless, when it came, it took the 7th Free Provinces Fleet by surprise. Fortunately, the enemy's single-minded focus on the Island States ships gave the Copiosa Scotian fleet a chance to retaliate.

The less protected arsenal ships, Guardian anti-missile cruisers, and Defender anti-aircraft cruisers moved to the center of the fleet as the four massive Vanden-class battleships came to the front. Behind them, hundreds of missiles lifted off, skimming the seas on their way to the Phyrric vessels as Fleet Admiral Eric Cantley addressed the captains of the other ships.

"We'll stay out of cannon range as long as possible. If our old friends want to trade missiles all day, I'm more than happy to oblige."

Out on the deck, the fighters leapt into the air one by one. The fighter screen would be increased to half of all available fighters to maximize the chance of intercepting any return fire.

(OOC: 800 sea-skimming missiles.)

"Incoming sir..." as a missile smashes into the side of a cruiser, the shock rocks the ship. "We have mulitple contacts on the screens sir."

"Put some distance between us and them, move the fleets back towards the straights, cut them off and force their surrender. We have inbound Air Force from the mainlands. Engage the enemy fighters from the carriers with our own. From the looks of things and the number of missiles, they have an arsenal ship there."

"We should have the other fleets in the straights within 24 hours. The 6 battle fleets dispatched earlier shall be in range to assist in the cut off."

"Good. They want a missile fight, we can handle this, there is no need to take ship losses. Let the Air Force take this glory, we already had ours. Just keep them pinned, we will swat them like a dog tied to a tree. If they had wanted to leave peacefully, then they shall die. In the meantime, let the subs have some more kills, inform them to attack." There are still 68 subs present in the waters, the 12 squadrons of 3 SSN (36) and 2 SSN and 2 SSBN per battle fleet, 8 battle fleets present (4x8+36=68 )

Enroute is 120 F22 fighters and 20 B2 bombers in the first wave, 140 F117 fighters and 20 B2 bombers in the second wave and 150 F15 fighters with 60 B52 to finish off what is left.

IC:

30 miles off SW Allanean Coast

Seemingly almost without purpose, the Freethinker fleet sat quietly on the tranquil ocean, within the horizon of the SW Allanean coastline, sitting in support of the 36,000 disembarked marines that now sat on the shoreline bases, guarding them against air attack and cruise missile strikes whilst the troops guarded the necessary supply bases and convoys to the front.

Occasionally, one of the VLS hatches on one of the Horizon or Centaur Destroyers would open up and unleash a missile towards an unseen target to the North or East, called up by the landed troops of the Freethinker's allies or even the heavily pinned down forces over in the Prophet.

To the south of the stationary forces, however, the horizon was red with the fiery smoke and flames of the UnAPs ships burning brightly on the surface of the ocean. Their allies were engaged in a missile duel against Phyrric, and it was unclear who was winning.

Admiral Svensand stood in the operations room of the Leviathan. Unlike the somewhat suicidal tendecies of fellow allied naval officers, who seemed to enjoy the glory and the vulnerability of commanding on the bridge during battle, Svensand preffered to be ten armoured decks and four or five bulkheads away from any missile entry point, deep within the heart of the Leviathan's superstructure. Barely any sound was heard here, the sounds of the battle to the south mere whispers lost in the gentle hum of the engines and computer moniters.

The Freethinker Admiral was faced with a significant dilemma. His force was small, maybe thirty odd surface combatants and half that number of combat submarines patrolling around his fleet, which was spread out and layered to provide the maximum amount of defence against missile and aerial attacks. However, his allies were struggling against the now hostile Phyrric vessels, and he was obliged by treaty to help them.

Ineffectual en masse missile strikes had been a common tactic of both sides in this war, but the naval forces of Phyrric at least had come to their senses and started using tactical sense. Svensand knew if Phyrric destroyed the allied fleets, the Freethinkers would be the last UnAPS force in the area for a while. Something he didnt have the ships for.

Not good. Svensand choose to run. His ships would have just hours before Phyrric shut down the entire strait, and even running now would be a serious fight that would tax his forces. His allies would have to take their chances. Svensand felt his heart in his throat, but tactical necessity must sometimes take place over pride, and even honour.

An hour later, the Freethinker fleet started to move out of position, and began turning south. The Freethinker troops on the SW coast would have to take their chances.

"Flank run 180 present, noise makers in baffles, Head layer, rig silent run aye"

"On my Mark. Mark!"

Commander Olson was hoping he could mask the location of his boat after firing his first salvo. He knew that the CS fleet would be fix on the Phyrric fleet and might be able to catch them off guard. He also knew there would be hostiles in the area listening for him.

*snip*

OOC: Bwahahaha, that's right, come into the straits....

IC:
Aboard the KNS Severomorsk

"Conn, sonar, multiple contacts bearing two-seven-five. Contacts too faint to ID as of yet."

"Flood tubes four and six, preparations for periscope depth. Make turns for five knots."

"Aye, sir."

"Conn, sonar- explosions bearing two-seven-eight, two-seven-six! Possible missile launches to port! Contacts are not in a convergence zone, estimate range is 60,000 yards or less!"

"Fire-control, polish the cannonball, dammit!"

The fire-control team threw their firing solutions into the computer, which checked the TMA of the contacts...

"Tubes four and six loaded with Tigershark plasma torpedoes. Outer doors open. Interlocks are broken." A pause. "Captain, tubes four and six are ready in all respects, weapons are hot."

"Fire, tubes four and six, Master 5."

The Severomorsk shuddered violently as compressed air from the ram-pump banks ejected the Mark 100 Tigershark heavy torpedoes into the water.

"Conn, sonar, units four and six are running hot, straight, and normal."

"Very well, sonar. Run to activation?" he replied, turning toward the TMA supervisor.

"Four minutes, thirty-nine seconds," was the reply.

The Mark 100 torpedoes spun up their Otto pumpjet engines and turned north, surging toward the Phyrrician ships at 58 knots.

"Conn, fire-control, unit one has gone active."

Unit four engaged its ultra-high-frequency active sonar, attempting to localize the targets. Unit six followed suit about 30 seconds later.

"Conn, sonar, units are in acquisition, estimate SRM ignition in ten seconds."

The sonar operator's guess was a tad off; Tigershark 4 stopped dead in the water 5 seconds later. Explosive bolts jettisoned the aft quarter of the torpedo, sending the Otto fuel-engine to the bottom and exposing the torpedo's rocket motor.

With a thundering roar, Unit 4's magnesium igniter sparked the hydrazine/aluminum engine to life. Internal air containers vented their contents through tiny holes around the nose of the torpedo, forming a wall of bubbles that gradually enveloped the weapon as it accelerated.

Tigershark 4 went supercavitating, accelerating through 200 knots as its magnetic seeker found the target, letting it grow, and grow...

Meanwhile, two other Kelanisian submarines unloaded a total of 48 SS-N-42 medium-range anti-ship missiles at the Phyrrus fleet.

OOC:
One other thing you should know: Your fleet is heading smack-dab into a giant minefield in the straits...

Losses, please.

OOC: A few things here:

First, we should move this combat/engagements to this thread and keep this one clear for the actual Axackal engagements:

http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=141178&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=

Since it is related to Island States and the straights, think it is appropriate to be there instead.

Second, here is my OB, as requested, for each battle fleet and there are 8 that are present in the SW Allanea area.

Battle Fleet consists of:

1 CVN
1 BBG
4 CGN
4 DDG
6 FFG
4 SSN
2 SSBN
8 Aux (AE, AO, AOE, etc)

Third, that is 24 surface ships per fleet for a total of 192 surface ships. That is roughly 420 CIWS systems and close to 850 chaff systems. I think the losses were generous to say the least, considering it would take multiple hits to sink a BBG, CG or AO.

I did make an error in my sub types, the number of subs present was correct, the SSBN's are not present (to avoid any nosey nations (cough cough knootoss) from coming in and claiming 'nukefest') they are SSN, but never the less, the count was accurate.

Until you get a tad more real Kelanis, I am not going to acknowledge any of that. I did post prior about ASW warfare going on, how did you escape that at 48 knots? What minefield as I had been here before and there are no postings of such, otherwise Freethinkers and Island States would have taken masive losses during their amphib operations. A torp at 200 knots? BS!.

1. Said torpedo is based on Russian Shkval, which travels faster than 200 knots. It's supercavitating.

2. My forces arrived only a short time ago, and I am engaging you from well outside your helicopter patrols. The missile subs are over 200 miles away, and the torpedo strikes have a range of about 50 nm. When you posted about ASW warfare, I assumed you were carrying out normal ASW patrols, which are stop/dip and sonobuoy searches in a picket pattern roughly 20-30 miles out from the fleet to allow for surface ships to aid in prosecution of close contacts and easy refueling of helicopters/planes. Besides, I only have one or two submarines, and the odds of finding an extremely deep submarine via aircraft alone are not that great without some sort of queing. The only time you would have had any idea I was even there would have been after the torpedo launches. If you want to attempt to prosecute based on that transient, go ahead.

3. Magnetic influence mines, remotely armed. They have been sitting there for quite some time but never armed due to objections from foreign governments. The mines will be armed and the strait will be effectively closed whenever we choose.

Aboard a fishing vessel somewhere off the North coast of Allanea.

"Goddamned politicians, always causing trouble for the honest hardworking people of their countries!'

"Yeah, skipper. I sure am glad we are away from all that!"

Suddenly off the ships port bow a huge plume of steam and fire erupt.

"WTF!"

Seemingly out of nowhere 96 Tomahawk Cruise Missiles rise from beneath. En route to targets far to their south.

Aboard the USS New Mexico

"Mr. Johnson, make your depth One Five Zero"

"One Five Zero aye"

"XO make a flank speed run directly opposite our present, release noise makes in our baffles and head for the layer. Once in layer rig for silent running"

(OOC: Er... a couple problems. First, the waters north of Allanea are swarming with allied ships, including 105 Scotian submarines. Even if your subs managed to evade the patrols, it's unlikely you'd have time to launch all 96. Second, the trajectory of the missiles will take them straight over Allanea, and since they came from an area with such a heavy concentration of allied ships, I'd be shocked if he didn't shoot them down. The rest of your forces in the north are very badly outgunned -- far worse than mine in the southwest -- and it's probably best if they leave before anyone marks them as hostile.

We'll continue this in the thread Phyrric linked.)

OOC ER..well Since I have been there since the beginning of the original fight (Ediola v Allanea) I think your subs may have had a hard time getting through. As far the 96 TLAM's ,the waters off northern Allanea are probably just as crowed as the waters off the southwestern coast of Allanea , but yet you were able to launch over 800! There is lots of open water to the north of Allanea. Allanea is very aware of my presence as a possible ally, and over flight rights should be granted.

ref thread:
http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=2962920&highlight=#2962920

and I have searched the threads and do not find your deployments to the area before the start of this conflict, so unless you have teleportation I do not believe you could pass over 100 subs into the area without us knowing.

advise which thread and I will gladly continue.

I will accept the torpedoes as I have researched them. BUT! You are erroneous in one reguard...they only have a range of 7000m (appx 4 miles) and I would like to know how you would get that close to a fleet without being noticed. Warships from UnAPS are to be engaged unless they are in diplomatic relations with Phyrric, commerce passes freely.

The minefield I cannot possibly accept. Not only are there friendlies in the area to yourself, Phyrric Navy is relatively in control of the straights now. Unless Allanea accepted you being there placing mines in his waters (why one would be placing mines in waters that is anticipating alliance amphibious operations is beyond comprehension), it is not present.

Emergency state wide broadcast.
Iraqstani Information Minister, Muhammed Saeed al-Sahaf addressing the nations at war with Allanea.

Transmitting.....

The camera focuses on Iraqstani Information Minister Muhammed Saeed Al Sahaf as the man nods and begins to speak. "It has come to the Führer's attention that a plague of dissident vermin have been attacking the sovreign nation of Allanea for some time.

Due to previous engagements and problems within his own realm our glorious führer has been unable to respond outside of private comminques to the Allanean administration. In short the National Socialist Empire of Iraqstan has after negotiations with the Allanean government come to an agreement.

Henceforth the Iraqstani Ministry for Outside expenditure has authorised the transferal of one hundred and twenty billion dollars in Allanean currency to the government of Allanea to help support and fund their liberating movements against the infidels and impure.

Further more Iraqstan will be sending medical supplies, food, water and clothing of military grade to the Allanean soldiers in and along the front lines. Medical supplies and food are also being delivered to the affected areas of Allanea itself.

Any attempt to halt or destroy Iraqstani aircraft on righteous and legal actions to aide the suffering of a sovreign nation will be seen as a hostile move and the appropriate action will be taken. Iraqstan has remained closed from hostilities for some time, but our bite has not been eroded.

The convoys of food and meidcal supplies will be arriving inside of three days to the Allanean governments who will then distribute as nessecary, medical and food supplies will continue to arrive until the war has ended or Allanea no longer requires the aide of the righteous peoples of Iraqstan.

This is the first and only announcement being made, and the reasons behind our intervention will remain our own. Ask not and you will recieve kindness, ask and you will be dismissed."

Nodding to the camera Muhammed Saeed Al Sahaf turns away as the camera fades and the broadcast ends.

Transmission complete.
