Your Excellency,

While the RSIN may sell ballistic missile submarines, it is the unalterable official policy of the Foreign Arms Sales Commission to refuse any request for the transfer of nuclear or chemical weapons, other than tear gas or other non-lethal peacekeeping agents, to any foreign power. That said, Credonia, The Burnsian Desert, and a number of different nations (mainly rogue ones) do sell such weapons. [OOC: Also, if you have accepted issues that allow Kay Son to mine uranium, to produce nuclear energy, and to develop a space program (or develop orbital weaponry), you should be able to design and manufacture your own SLBMs -- just don't do it in massive quantities!] I apologise for this stringency on nuclear devices.

Sincerely,

Edwin Hodge

Your Excellency,

It is an immense honour and privilege to receive this order from the illustrious nation of Sarzonia. Owing to the present crisis in Sarzonia, His Majesty's Government is offering to cover an additional price reduction for this procurement. Therefore, the total cost of this procurement will be $16.8 billion.

We at the RSIN hope that the present unrest in Sarzonia can be resolved to your satisfaction and be assured that we the people of Isselmere-Nieland stand firmly for the re-establishment of a re-unified Sarzonia.

Long may Sarzonia prosper on the waves!

[OOC: To Kay Son: The Foreign Arms Sales Commission, which governs the sale of weapons systems to foreign powers within Isselmere-Nieland, will refuse the sale of nuclear weapons technology, including nuclear weapons or large rockets that may transport nuclear warheads over long distances (i.e. SLBMs or ICBMs) to any foreign power. The UKIN government has a firm nuclear non-proliferation policy, which is why I am suggesting either developing your own nuclear weapons program or buying some from the other nations I have suggested (The Burnsian Desert especially). I regret this, but as it states in the Royal Shipyards catalogue, the RSIN does not sell nuclear weapons.]

With regards to your other question on the Jackdaw and Hurricane, the former is intended to replace the Aster and Standard series of missiles with an enhanced capability of destroying the growing menace of high supersonic and hypersonic weapons. The latter missile, the Hurricane, has been deemed too large and ungainly for anti-air uses and is instead being redrafted as an anti-surface missile to be launched from our new Port-class submarines. The engineers at Lyme and Martens and we at the Royal Shipyards hope to be able to present these new defence systems publicly soon [barring RL intrusions, like work, etc. :D ]. I would like to remind the government of Haukka that the Royal Shipyards of Isselmere-Nieland is under no obligation to sell you ships. In addition, the statement by Senator Pickering was in no way incendiary and none of the United Kingdom of Isselmere-Nieland's actions warrant any apology on their parts.

The only country who has a need to apologize is Haukka for the implication of hostility and your wholly unprofessional conduct toward Senator Pickering.

I strongly suggest that you withdraw your demand for an apology from Prime Minister Yardmouth and initiate a round of reforms that would bring you into good standing with either the RSIN Corporation or the Portland Iron Works. You are in serious danger of having several storefronts refuse to sell you merchandise and possibly other dire consequences if you continue down the negative road you are traveling. We have five additional unaffiliated shipyards in our colony, Branwyn that we can use toward the construction of the ships for this massive order. The Wilmington Shipyard Corporation can also lend a hand by devoting its less active shipyards toward the construction of your vessels. That adds seven total shipyards to the ones that already construct RSIN Corp. vessels in Sarzonia.

[OOC: All I know is that kind of order will take a VERY long time. I'm going to guess that kind of order would take 15-20 NS years to complete, though with 37 shipyards, I'm not sure if that helps speed things up or not.

If I weren't getting fairly large orders from my own repeat customer, I might divert some of the Portland Iron Works' construction to help out. Then again, my orders haven't ever been THIS large!]

President Mike Sarzo saw the press release from the Royal Shipyards of Isselmere-Nieland and smiled broadly. His secretary, Becky Davis walked into his office and saw the look on his face and immediately turned around. She scurried as fast as her high-heeled shoes could carry her, to her desk, reached into the bottom left drawer and pulled out a set of earmuffs imported from Isselmere-Nieland and placed them on her head. She then walked into Sarzo's office again.

"You've got that look in your eyes again," Davis said.

"What look," Sarzo said. Even though he knew exactly what Davis was talking about.

"The Newman look."

Sarzo cackled. Navy Chief John Newman was a very competent man and was instrumental in building the Sarzonian navy into a respected force, but his hospitalization for being overly exuberant upon ordering from the RSIN Corp, the Imperial Praetonian Shipyards, or Hybalt Industries made him a teasing punchline in the Gray House.

"Read this," Sarzo said. He passed the press release over to Davis.

"Are you going to issue a statement?"

"I will. But first, a completely unPresidential one." He stood up from his desk, jumped into the air as high as a 5'7" 200 pound person can jump, pumped his fist and shouted, "YES!"

Davis cringed. She KNEW that was coming. She was so glad Yvonne sent those earmuffs to her.

Sarzo drew his breath. He then walked into the press room.

"We are delighted that the Wilmington Shipyard Corporation has stepped forward to help the RSIN Corporation fulfill the enormous order and we are equally delighted that we have been able to help ease the burden on the shipyards.

"The bond between our people is deep and is one that we treasure every day. It is one reason that we celebrate our Alliance Day on the 25th of June. It is also a reason that we have named one of our states New Isselmere and one of our major cities New Daurmont.

"We wish the RSIN Corp, the Royal Family, the elected government of Isselmere-Nieland, and its people great success in the years ahead and long may all prosper!"

With that, Sarzo looked at Davis, winked and said, "you can take the earmuffs off now. At least until after lunch." He smirked. Davis knew better.

GRIMSBY DOWNS, Anguist - Lyme and Martens, manufacturers of the majority of the RINN's drones and new missile systems, has nearly completed testing of its trans-atmospheric long-range hypersonic surface-to-surface missile, the GWS.60 Hurricane. Details of the missile system are, at present, classified, but RINN officials assure Isselmere-Nielanders that the new weapon will ensure the security of the UKIN's maria clausum.

"We've come a long way since the introduction of the Region-class battlecruiser, which, while still a decent vessel for most navies, is regrettably outclassed by the trend towards sea fortresses, or mega-battleships as some wags would have," declared Adm. Sir Dudley Kennilworth. "The RINN hopes to retain its mobility and ability to defend the UKIN's interests both on the high seas as well as in littoral waters by re-equipping the fleet with the new missile. We in the Admiralty have great confidence in Lyme and Martens and are certain their new product will make foreign powers think twice about attacking this great nation."

On another front, the design of a new replenishment vessel to support what Sir Dudley termed "sea fortresses" is being finalised for the UKIN's great allies in Jimnam. Sir Thomas Bullfinch is certain this new vessel will help bolster the faltering sales hitting the Royal Shipyards. "I hate to say it publicly," Sir Thomas announced on Tuesday, "but with the decline in sales, we will have to close several yards once the orders from Illior are completed. The support from the Jimnam government is now essential to the RSIN's survival as an independent corporation.

Just last week, the Conservative government, concerned over the loss of jobs that would ensue should the RSIN go bankrupt, announced it was considering re-nationalising the industry if only for local production. The prime minister, the Rt. Hon. Oliver Yardmouth, stated that such was a last ditch solution to a major international crisis in shipbuilding. "Quite honestly, the RSIN has been displaced by its old rivals in Clan Smoke Jaguar and its new competition in Sarzonia," Mr. Yardmouth averred. "Competition is simply part of business, but if we can, the Government will try to salvage some jobs."

[OOC: Thanks! I haven't had much opportunity to work on the RSIN stuff lately and in terms of technology, the site's been faltering (no monster ships nor counters to them) while RL work has been piling up so reporting impending bankruptcy seemed to be the best way to clean house either before letting fall into desuetude or completely revising the entire storefront. In any case, if I decide that the RSIN goes bankrupt, all three nations with partnered yards will receive full exploitation rights to my designs and the technology therein. That said, I'm glad the Portland Yards are proving a success for you! :) ]

GRIMSBY DOWNS, Anguist - The Ministry of Defence, in conjunction with the RSIN, has invested funds granted by the state of Jimnam for the construction of an artificial island for the construction of very large vessels similar to the "sea fortresses" being constructed by many other nations as well as freeing up dockyard space for smaller support vessels. This island is being formed by the island of Staberinde, the UKIN Defence Forces' primary exercise grounds.

This new development will allow for the growth of both the RSIN and of RINN vessels. The RSIN, however, has lamented its inability to secure enough titanium necessary for the construction of extremely large vessels. "The current dependence on steel alloys has not hindered us in the past," stated Sir Thomas Bullfinch. "We envision finding suitable and economically feasible solutions to our problems very soon."

In other news, construction is beginning on the new large multipurpose replenishment vessels for the Jimnam navy. At full load, they will displace 75,000 tonnes, will carry 30,000 tonnes of ordnance and 122 403 gallons (UK; 147 000 gallons (US)), and may travel at a sustained maximum speed of 26 knots (28 knot bursts). The vessels will be powered by two nuclear fission reactors, and will have extensive anti-aircraft armament and countermeasures.

OOC: Thanks! As for support squadrons, that's a great idea. I always try to put support ships in with my group and fleet packages. (I don't know whether the numbers I have are correct or not, which is why I usually have escort groups in with the fleet packages to protect any additional support vessels!)

GRIMSBY DOWNS, Anguist - In addition to the great support offered to the RSIN by Jimnam (investment of $400 billion) and by Sarzonia (purchases of fleet packages, offers to establish satellite yards in the UKIN), the nation of Illior has added its support by contributing $250 billion towards research and development.

The new director-general, Neville Colwan (formerly the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and director of accounts), announced this money will be well spent. "For years the RSIN has depended on advanced technologies," Colwan stated before an assembly of workers. "In recent times, however, financial burdens and loss of foreign orders have forced retrenchment. Now, thanks to our great friends in Jimnam, Sarzonia, and Illior, we'll be able to bounce back."

The former director-general, Sir Thomas Bullfinch, retired Monday from nervous exhaustion. "He's knackered," said one worker who refused to be named. "He really did his bit for us and the firm, but now he's been edged out. Poor sod."

Subject: Re: Satellite yards and production rights

Dear Commodore Tucker:

It is with great relief that I read your offer this morning. Of course, the Royal Shipyards and His Majesty's Government would look favourably upon such an offer. Lyme and Martens, the primarily manufacturers of the Royal Shipyards guided weapons systems, also is keenly interested in this offer.

1) With regards to the reversion of the Nicksia Shipyards to direct Sarzonian management, the board is willing to accept $65 billion, subject to negotiation, of course.

2) On the subject of satellite yards, we can use a similar agreement to the one established for the Nicksia Shipyards. [OOC: I'll see if I can find that agreement somewhere here...] There are currently eight yards available to become satellite yards, two of which are able to build carrier/battleship (to approximately 150,000 tonne capacity, 20 m draught) sized vessels and one which may be improved to that level.

3) With regards to production rights of our weapons systems, Lyme and Martens offers the following:

GWS.41.2 Loon ASW missile — $150 million
GWS.47 Robin small diameter bomb (SDB; 115 kg) — $30 million
GWS.48 Starling light autonomous attack missile (LAAM; 50 kg) — $30 million
GWS.50 Pigeon autonomous operation anti-radar missile (ARM) — $140 million
GWS.52 Pelican anti-ship missile (ASM (or AShM)) — $305 million
GWS.57 Erne SAM — $300 million
[OOC: GWS.60 Hurricane design specs. to be finalised — $310 million]

While for production of support vessels, domestic production of support vessels in Sarzonia is covered by the Nicksia Shipyards agreement, but export production rights can be granted at the following rates:

Lake-class MCDV: $5.25 billion
Gabin-class AKR: $9 billion
Flansburgh-class AOE: $6.75 billion
Smith-class AOR: $9 billion
Marsden-class AP: $6 billion
Aylesburgh AS: $6.75 billion

We hope these terms are satisfactory, but are subject to negotiation.

I would personally like to thank you for your kind words regarding Sir Thomas. His presence is keenly missed, although he thankfully he returns on occasion to keep us in good cheer. Needless to say, none of us at the RSIN consider him at all responsible for the recent downturn.

On behalf of all of us at the Royal Shipyards, let me thank you for the kindness you have shown us in our hour of need. This is another shining example of the strong bonds that exist between our two nations.

Long may Sarzonia, and the Portland Iron Works, rule the waves!

GRIMSBY DOWNS, Anguist - The Royal Shipyards announced a major restructuring program allowing it to avoid the closure of further shipyards and stave off direct administration from the government.

"While the Royal Shipyards form a public corporation, we are an autonomous agency," Mr Colwan stated at today's press conference. "We've scrupulously maintained this independence to the benefit of Isselmere-Nieland and our allies. Thanks to them we have been able to maintain it."

Three nations were identified as great benefactors. First was Jimnam, which invested about £270,000 million ($400 billion) in research and development costs towards the new Lem-class combat stores replenishment vessel. Next, the Portland Iron Works tentatively offered to absorb Nicksia Shipyards, formerly an RSIN satellite yard, into its operations while purchasing production rights to a number of vessels and certain weapons systems. Illior, whose purchases had permitted the vast expansion of the RSIN of late, lately contributed about £170,000 million ($250 billion) towards the corporation's research and development endeavours. Early this morning, Sarzonia outdid itself by contributing a further £235,550 million ($350 billion) permitting the RSIN to reopen five shipyards.

"I cannot express how grateful we at the RSIN are to those three nations, and to Beta Aurigae VII for its recent order, for helping us out of our dire financial straits," Mr Colwan declared. "I can only hope we can live up to their expectations."

Stats for the "Hurricane" being prepared, and a new low-cost anti-submarine weapon being developed.

Also, existing warship and support ship designs will soon be undergoing massive upgrades, and a new light carrier is being developed, and a new supply ship package is being prepared. Additional amphibious assault ships are in the works, as well.

We thank our customers for their continued support of the RSIN and hope to have these new products up for your perusal very soon.

Your Excellency,

Congratulations on your ascension to the post of Navy Chief. It is an immense pleasure and honour to do business with you on what we at the RSIN hope will be the first of many occasions.

The RSIN will be greatly honoured to provide the Sarzonian Navy with our High Seas Battle Fleet package. The two Region-class battlecruisers will be replaced with the newer Charter-class battleships in the expeditionary groups to reflect current RINN practice and to give this package greater firepower and your opponents far more to think on! The total cost of this procurement, after discounts, will be $292 billion (£196,355 million).

We at the RSIN wish your Excellency the best of fortune as Navy Chief and hope your endeavours will always be successful.

Sincerely yours,

For whatever the cost. We would also like to purchase production rights for the warheads. We were wondering if these missiles could be attached with a tactical nuclear warhead as well as a conventional warhead. We would also be willing to give the money to start production of a nuclear warhead for these missiles in return for production rights. We would produce these weapons only for our personal use and would never think of using them against Isselmere-Nieland. We welcome all background checks.

Subject: Production rights of GWS.41.2 and GWS.60

Your Excellency,

The Lyme and Martens Industries and the Parliamentary Foreign Arms Sales Commission would be willing to grant production rights to the GWS.41.2 "Loon" anti-submarine missile. The "Loon", it must be noted, transports a torpedo or similarly sized weapon (e.g., depth bomb) to a drop point. Consequently, the "Loon" possesses no warhead as such. Such production rights would be limited to domestic production only; all export sales of the "Loon" by Nutropina would be strictly illegal and would be considered an irreparable breach of the production rights agreement. The total cost of production rights for the "Loon" would be $750 million.

The Foreign Arms Sales Commission at the present moment refuses to grant production rights to the GWS.60 "Hurricane" surface attack missile as it is considered emergent technology. The Commission does permit the sale of the "Hurricane" to your Excellency's nation at the standard price. The Commission will be willing to grant your nation production rights to the "Hurricane" at the cost of $2.5 billion (£1,682 million) once the design becomes regular issue [5 NS days; in other words, consider production rights granted and money transferred as of that date if you agree to these conditions]. Again, production rights are only granted for domestic production.

With regard to production rights for warheads for the "Hurricane", regrettably those would not be entirely permitted. Warheads and AI technology would be produced by LMI technicians in accordance with the production agreement. Furthermore, the Commission refuses the sale of nuclear warhead technology to any foreign nation, regardless of standing.

We thank you for your interest in our products and hope you will purchase from the RSIN soon.

Sincerely,

GRIMSBY DOWNS, Anguist - Thanks to another massive investment by Jimnam of $500 billion (£341,087 million), stock in the RSIN has almost completely recovered its value from the previous year.

Ocean-class BBGN
The first product to be constructed at the new Andvari Shipyards, the Ocean-class will serve as RINN flagships. Equipped to counter threats from the air, from surface opponents, and from below, the Ocean-class is protected by strong and sturdy paramagnetic steel alloys as well as our patented layered ballistic ceramic and polymer protection. Protection is improved by the use of void spaces, layering, and kinetic energy absorbent gels, well-distributed water mains and environmentally friendly fire suppression systems. Seven NBC citadels guarantee crew protection in extremely hostile environments.

Sir

Jimnam thanks you for your most generous offer of five of your new battleships. Our navy has noted Sarzonia's purchase of ten of these fine ships and in the interests of competition Jimnam would like to purchase a further 20. For a total cost of $84 billion. Money has been wired. Jimnam is eager to see designs for the new carrier class and other future projects.

Also we would like to inform you that our visiting carrier is now only one day away from arriving in your territorial waters. Jimnam looks forward to this historic day in our nations history.

Here's our latest product!

Crocodile-class LCS (http://www.naval-technology.com/projects/visby/images/Visby_1.jpg)
Air cushioned catamaran (ACC) design made from high-strength and sturdy radar absorbent materials (RAM) such as reinforced carbon-fibre honeycomb, poly-vinyl chloride and vinyl laminate reinforcement for the rapid insertion of commando units. Only the gun, well-shrouded itself, disturbs the elegant profile of this vessel as all of its other weapons are located in VLS below decks. Two ramps in the stern allow for two RILC to be deployed while in motion. This design uses clever emissions masking technology and techniques to provide an advanced and very stealthy design certain to plague your opponents with nightmares.
Displacement: 558 t (full load)
Dimensions: length 65.4 m (oa); beam 14.7 m (oa); draught 2.3 m (off cushion), 0.94m (on cushion).
Propulsion: surface effect, 2 water propulsor jets; 4 gas turbines (IMW MTG-9; 4.2 MW), with 2 lift fan engines (IMW MED-41; 840 kW) and 2 manoeuvring engines (IMW MED-42; 4.1 MW); 16.8 MW = 54.2+ kts.
Crew: 28 (standing crew); 54 (standing crew and mission personnel)
